Secondhand Smoke
For one to understand the effects of second hand smoke, one must look into the facts and figures
of harm caused by second hand smoke. In order to eliminate the problems caused by second
hand smoke, at least in public places, a national law needs to be passed to ban smoking from all
indoor public places, such as bus stops, restaurants, and other work places. We can make this
approach in many ways we can write articles, make billboard signs or we can even make tv ads
to convince people that this is an issue and what we can do about it. An ad from California relates
to the issue of smokingin a work environment to the states who do not have these types of
smoking laws.where many people have to breath in the smoke. The ad was posted by
TobaccoFreeCA.com and it says I breath second hand smoke so I can keep my job. Secondhand
smoke is harmful and is dangerous and has many harmful side effects. We need to create laws to
keep people who are in public areas safe and not so exposed to this. Countless people who don t
smoke go to their jobs and basically are forced to become smokers by breathing in the second
hand smoke is what this billboard is trying to convey to us. They can t just go and quit their jobs
and find a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

that doesn t sound very inciting if you want to work there and he is claiming himself as all of

Ashurnasirpal II
Ashurnasirpal II was the king of the Neo Assyrian Empire. He was known to be ruthless,
warmongering, and violent as a leader. Under his reign, the empire was expanded and was
brought whole by eliminating the rebels against his ruling. Due to his cruel nature, Ashurnasirpal
II also made anyone who wanted to rebel against him cower in fear. Aaccording to the Ancient
History Encyclopedia, it was recorded that in the rebel city of Tela, Ashurnasirpal II flayed the
rebel leader and nailed his skin to the wall. This barbaric method of torture and execution would
make his enemies tremble in fear. However, this cruelty also allowed Ashurnasirpal II to maintain
order within the empire. According to the historian Marc Van De Mieroop, wherever Ashurnasirpal
II governed, there were peace and justice, which shows that his cruelty was effective in establishing
order. Also, he was known to be a great diplomat and was able to establish stability with treaties
with the Babylon and kingdom of Israel without using military forces. Other than his conquests,

the king is well attended and protected, as shown by the soldier s shield. Also, according to
Kirby AP Art History, Ashurnasirpal II is portrayed to be the tallest figure in the art piece. The
author explains that this is done to show that he is of the highest authority and no one comes
before him, the king. Personally, I also agree that is why he is portrayed to be the tallest of the
figures. Furthermore, the king is shown to have a sword, indicated by the sheath he is holding by
the arm. This is included to show that Ashurnasirpal II is a warrior king and that he went on military

Playtime by Jacques Tati Shot Analysis
PLAYTIME by Jacques Tati Shot from 03:12 04:48 / Airport waiting room
__________________________________________________________________________
Jacques Tati s 1967 film, Playtime, captures a cascading series of events through the sterile
architecture of Paris, in which few familiar characters inhabit. Tati s infamous alter ego, Monsieur
Hulot, haphazardly occupies many scenes as he stumbles through Paris after trying to contact an
American official. The film is confined to no genre, nor does it necessarily form a new one it
simply exists in its own right as an exploration of societal function. Originally shot on 70mm, the
film carries... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The off centre position of the camera in relation to the furniture also allow for the chairs to act as
depth cues and show the enormous length of the room. Everything in the frame is in focus, which
in a cinema viewing is a lot to take in, especially considering the films aspect ratio of 1.85:1.
However, the audiences eyes are cleverly guided around the frame by almost unnaturally loud
sounds, some of which are accentuated in post production by Tati. The sounds against the floors
create a reverbing echo, highlighting the absurd impracticality of the building. A man and a woman
sit in the bottom left hand corner of the frame in what appears to be a waiting area. They are
dressed identically in their monotonous grey colours, as if they are enslaved to the colours
surrounding them. During the shot s beginning, the audience is drawn to the nuns and their
rhythmic footsteps as they enter the frame. Then, through a combination of actor gestures and
dialogue, this gaze shifts to the two characters anchored in the foreground of the image. The
rattling of a table being wheeled out by a man in white into the frame moves our eyes, as well as
the couples own attention, to

Effective Communication, And Conflict Management
Patient safety is a top priority for all healthcare providers. Yet medical errors are ranked the eighth
leading cause of death. Medication administration errors often result from multiple environmental
and individual factors (Yoder, Schadewald, Dietrich, 2015, p. 140). Nurses are faced with several
interruptions including other health care professionals, patients, and family members.
Environmental factors such as: phone calls, call lights, alarms, malfunctioning equipment, and
emergency situations can distract the nurseand prevent the nurse from administrating medications
successfully. Research has shown that the most interruptions were from conversations with other
personnel or stopping to do another patient care task (Yoder et al., 2015). The purpose of our paper
is to discuss how collaboration, effective communication, and conflict management can improve the
nursing medication administration process by both the intraprofessional and the interprofessional
teams. The intraprofessional team is comprised of nurses that work on the unit and nurses who
work on other units who may try to communicate with the nurse who is administering medications.
The interprofessional team is made up of patient care technicians, the unit secretary, physicians, and
other disciplines such as physical therapy, social work, pharmacy, and case management. The
interprofessional team can also distract or disrupt the nurse trying to administer medications by
asking about another patient being

Factors That Can Be Taken Into Account When An Individual...
There are various factors that can be taken into account when an individual is walking. Whether it is
your speed, group size, destination, status, culture, personality, distractions, or sex, one way of the
other they manage to have an impact on walking behaviors. Past researchers have indicated that
these factors may have an effect on walkingbehaviors and with our observation we put the theories
to test. The factors taken into account were genderand group size and their effect on walking speed
and interpersonal distance.
Earlier research finding have reported that interpersonal distances are influenced by dominance,
attraction, age, similarity and gender. Willis (1996) reported in his research that young people
are more like to approach one another closer and as people tend to age the more personal space is
recorded. A closer more intimate space is seen in opposite sexpairs (Aiello 1987; Crawford and
Unger 2000; Hall 1984; Heshka and Nelson 1972). From this finding, researchers conclude that
when people interact in closer distances they have an attraction or interpersonal relationship.
Dominance, power, and status are also said lead to lower interpersonal distance. Similarities in
race, sexual preference, religions are also factors that contribute to a closer interpersonal distance
(Bell et al., 2001).
According to some researchers negatively toned situations cause larger spatial zones (Strayer and
Roberts 1997). Studies suggest that women are more prone to react in

A Theory Of The Efficient Market Hypothesis
The main idea of market efficiency reflects that all the information which is associated with stock
market is basically showing on the stock process in any time. It appears that the stock prices are
unpredictable because the random changing of the new information affects it. Under the
circumstance of that the French mathematician Bachelier (1900) first came up with the idea about
that random information results to the unpredictable prices in marketing concept. After that
Osborne (1964) brought a theory of random walk, and then accomplished by Fama (1965). Since
the day of creation of market efficiency, it has been criticised by researchers all the time; but it still
has significant impact on financial field. In 1970, Fama developed the... Show more content on

the fact that several form market efficiency act in EMH indicates that does those forms real acts in

Sweatshops Is Bad
Out of Bad Comes Good
A sweatshop is a factory where workers receive low wages while being forced to work in poor
environments. In general, these workshops produce an abundant amount of the clothing that we
wear everyday. However, few acknowledge the act of sweatshop labor, since it is rarely shown to
the public eye. Ironically, many popular fashion brands that we buy from all recieve clothes that are
made in sweatshops. While sweatshop workers are treated unfairly in the workplace, fast fashion
provides them with jobs and it provides us with the clothing that we constantly demand for. To
understand the topic of sweatshop labor, we must recognize the effects of this controversial
working system.
First, we have to consider the conditions that

Effect Of Advertising On Children Essay
Effect of Advertising on Children Advertising is something that everyone sees, whether that be
driving down the road, listening to the radio, or watching television everyone is bound to see
some. Children growing up today cannot go a day without checking Facebook, Twitter, or
Instagram. These children are always on their phones or watching television so they see these
advertisements hundreds of times a month. When watching television, it is impossible not to see
an advertisement about sugary or fast food, alcohol, or sexual advertisements which are all
affecting today s children and adolescents. Although most of these advertisements are focused
towards adults, they hit children and adolescents the hardest. In late April of 2011 the New York
times published a story about the use of cartoon characters in the commercials of cereal brands.
In this article, they speak about the Federal Trade Commission enacting new rules on big name
cereal brands such as Fruit Loops. The guidelines released by the Federal Trade Commission
included television and print ads, Web sites, online games disguised as camouflaged
advertisements, social media, product placement in movies, the use of movie characters in cross
promotions and fast food children s meals (Neuman). As this article was published in 2011 I
remember how many different cereal advertisements there were on television when I watched, but,
now a day I see much less advertisements about these overly sugary cereals in part due to

One of the distinguishing features of cystic fibrosis is the thick mucus that lines both the airways
and the intestinal tract of affected individuals. In the respiratory tract, this thick mucus is not
removed by the cilia that usually beat and push mucus up into the throat. This thick mucus builds
up in the airways, and bacteria trapped in the mucus are not removed. Thus bacterial respiratory
infections are extremely common.

4. Explain the reasoning behind the appearance of his sputum.
Sam s sputum was viscid because the excessive Chloride ions inside the cells attract water, so
water does not leave the cells. This water is what makes the mucus thin and slippery. Without the
water the mucus is thick and sticky.
Sam s sputum was probably green due to all of the bacteria that has built up in his respiratory tract
because the mucus escalator cannot move the mucus up and out..

However, if Sam was given a pulmonary function test it will demonstrate a decreased FEV1 (forced

The Patient Versus The Physician
The Patient Versus the Physician
In William Carlos William s short story, The Use of Force , the plot is unassuming. A physician
is telling the story about his efforts to save a child, named Mathilda, from herself in addition to his
efforts to protect an entire community from the tragic and fatal effects of diphtheria. In the story,
Mathilda seeks to avoid seeing a physician or risking any type of exam or diagnosis. Upon deeper
examination, the story is much more multifaceted than a simple appraisal of two characters
motivations. The Use of Force portrays a character contest between a stubborn child, Mathilda, and
the devoted physician who is narrating the story; the prize, won by the physician, is control, health,

She is determined to win this contest. She does not, however, and the physician gets the upper hand.
As soon as the physician arrives, he notices the child s penetrating stare, which seems to be filled
with fire, indicating that this task will not be easy nor will it be over quickly. He can instantly
feel her distrust of him, despite there being no expression on her young face. Initially the
physician believes that he can easily win her over and gain triumph in his pursuit to diagnose her
and cure her, and possibly safeguard the public from the spread of diphtheria. He tries to approach
her in a welcoming and peaceful manner in order to gain her trust. He tries to reassure the young
Mathilda that he will not hurt her and that he has her best interests at heart. However, the girl
remains persistent. Even though he is trying to utilize his typical professional behaviors and
methods to regulate if Mathilda has a sore throat or has diphtheria, she obstinately snubs all
attempts to get her collaboration. At this point, it appears that she may win this contest.
Then the doctor tries engaging her parents in this struggle for admission to her mouth and control of
her well being and life. Her parents try reason, rationalizing, and enticing their daughter with
rewards for her compliance. They even try to empathize with her or look at her mouth themselves,
something met with more stubbornness. Alas, the child is resolute in the protection of her right to

Theme Of Individualism In Walt Whitman s Leaves Of Grass
Individualism is important. This statement is made clear in Walt Whitman s book, Leaves of
Grass, published in 1855. Leaves of Grass is a poetry collection composed in the nineteenth
century, during the Westward Expansion. Contrary to popular poetic style in that period,
Whitman wrote in free verse, meaning there was little to no rhyming or tempo. Individualism is
a theme that sets the tone of Whitman s poems. Whitman uses the literary devices of repetition,
asyndeton, imagery, and conflict to create the idea of individualism to set the tone. The
repetition present in Whitman s works contributes significantly to the theme of his poems.
Repetition can be used to emphasize differences; moreover, it can stress the individuality of
every person. Whitman s work, I Hear America Singing, is an example of emphasizing
differences, with lines 2 4 being, Those of mechanics, each one singing his as it should be blithe
and strong, /The carpenter singing his as he measures his plank or beam, /The mason singing
his as he makes ready for work, or leaves off work,... Singing what belongs to them, each has a
unique song that only appertains to them. Similarities do appear in the repetition of Whitman s
works, revealing that this literary device can create an effect of resemblance between ideas. Taken
from O Me! O Life! is lines 2 3, Of the endless trains of the faithless, of cities fill d with the foolish,
/Of myself forever reproaching myself, (for who more foolish

The Global Stage Of The European Union
The statement that a Belgian Minister once quoted indicated his thoughts of the global stage of the
European Union (EU) which included, the European union was a little more than an economic
giant, political dwarf and military worm. With this being said, I can confidently say within my six
week summer long semester into the history of the European Union, I agree with the Belgian
Minister s statement primarily due to their economic trading power, weak political power, but I
think their military is not no worm. According to the Europa.eu (1), The European Union is one of

The concept is carefully related to those of economic globalization which integrates national
economies into the international economy. Such incorporations have been achieved through capital
flow, trading of goods and services, and foreign direct investment. Since the primary link has been
the European Union, which has become a major alliance amongst the European nations. With the
EU s focusing on globalization their economic power has gone up. I feel that with the EU having a
single currency and free trade of goods and services is a major contribution to having a strong EU.
The world is becoming a tighter community through high tech developments around the world. With
technology becoming so advanced international travel becoming more common. Making
communication and collaboration with other countries around the world easier and now a common
occurrence. Some world leaders envision a global community that would lead to a one world order

Europe s goal of

The Life of Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ means numerous things to people: the Son of God, Savior, the Messiah, etc. But many
might still not know what happened during Jesus s life. There are numerous stories in the Bible.
His story starts in the New Testament, though the prophecies about Him are in the Old Testament.
Through the Bible, people have been able to decipher the Messianic prophecies, Jesuss death and
resurrection, and Jesus s return.
The Messianic Prophecies are prophecies about the Messiah. He will end the dark times, and bring
joy (Isaiah 9: 1 7). God will make this possible by giving us Jesus, His Son (Isaiah 9:6). Jesus, who
not only is the Son of God, but also God, will bring peace. He will be the king. This will happen
because God loves us all so much. God then goes on to talk about how His Son will bring justice,
and will not stick out in a crowd (Isaiah 42: 1 7). There was nothing particularly striking about
Jesus, in appearance or demeanor (Isaiah 53:2). Because of others suffering, Jesus felt their
sadness (Isaiah 53:4). God wanted Jesus to suffer in His life so that humans can be saved;
though Jesus never complained. Jesus was the sacrifice. He died for our sins. But He succeeded
in what was needed to be done. Afterward, He would have a remarkable spot in heaven (Isaiah
53:11 12).
Jesus s death is one of the biggest events in the Bible. Judas, who was one of Jesus s apostles,
betrayed Him and gave Him over to the Jews who had been planning to kill Him in exchange for
money (Luke

The Economic Globalization Of The United States
The economic globalization of any given county is the increase of economic integration of the
nation in the world s economy and is the result of cross border movement of goods, services,
technologies and capital. Economic globalization has been seen to help developing countries
arrive at a more stable and stronger economic because of its positive effects on crucial issues such
as GDP, and their trade as well as their special interactions with different countries, such as the
joining of the European Union. France was no exception to this. France in the post war era after
World War II saw significant change with their economy, becoming a more open country in the
world markets and a stronger, financially stable country.

Gross National Growth (GNP) is the measure of how an economy is performing and what a
country has produced. While Gross domestic product (GDP) is the size of a states total annual

upon the country. In the table below we are able to get a sense of how the economy of France
does in the 20ths century and it is clear that their post World War II interval is the most
successful. It is that specific time frame in which France s economy starts to flourish. This could
essentially be because after the world wars mostly everything needed to be reconstructed. Many
factors help contribute to a nation s GDP and GNP rates. Agriculture, construction,
manufacturing, services, transport and utilities are all included when calculating GDP. GNP is
greatly affected by the population that is within a country. Higher GDP s tend to be associated
with EU members such as France in comparison to the rest of the world. There have been sudden
drops in the French GDP growth rates but that doesn t essentially effect the welfare of the people.
Many argue that GDP rates do show how a country is doing economically but they do not
accurately show the welfare of the citizens. William Ray from Psychology Today states that GDP

Deception In The Count Of Monte Cristo
When it comes to one s dreams and aspirations, it s commonly agreed on that following your
dreams is something that most people should strive to do. After all, how would one stay motivated
if they didn t have anything to work towards? Yet, in some cases, having too much determination to
accomplish your goals can end up having a negative effect. In any case, nothing handles this idea
quite like Alexandre Dumas novel, The Count of Monte Cristo. In the novel, a young sailor named
Edmond Dantes is framed by three men that all want something that Edmond holds. One of these
men is the up and coming prosecutor, Villefort, who has Dantes imprisoned for life. These unjust
actions bestowed upon Edmond begin his thirst for revenge, and eventually, he finds his revenge
quite well. Unfortunately, Edmond ends up destroying innocent lives and the last part of his
innocence in the process of getting that aforementioned vengeance. The only other thing that
Edmond gets other than his revenge is the knowledge that having the undying determination to see

Lake Pollution Issues
The issue regarding the Lake of the Ozarks is one that has been floating around for some time.
The water quality has gone down the drain in recent years due to numerous factors such as
leaking sewage and trash pollution. This issue is an environmental concern because it makes the
escherichia coli (e. coli) levels in the water go up, which can lead to illnesses and deaths of people
and animals across the area. There was said to have been as much as 15,000 gallons of sewage that
led directly into the Lake of the Ozarks(DNR). This is obviously a problem because it is affecting
the health of everyone and everything; however, people are asking why it may matter.
Many people care about their lake. It s where they can go to swim and hang out with friends.
Residents care about the pollution issue that is going on because more and more people are
deciding to live by the lake full time which increases lake pollution. Another aspect that is being
affected with the pollution are the animals in the water. The e. coli levels in the area are shifting
because of the pollution issues. When the sewage is released into the lake it most definitely does
not help with keeping the lake clean. As more pollution problems come up, they need to be fixed
by the public living there. The residents surrounding the lake need to pay more attention of what is
being thrown into the lake and the status of their sewage tanks to insure they are not leaking or
damaged. If those tasks are fixed little by little

What types of things do you pay close attention too? Selective attention makes me think of being

were started in both directions, than passed to each individual participating. Whiter it is one
message or two the whole point was to see if the message in the end matched the original message.
In most cases it did not, do too how we hear the message is

The Competition for the Secret of Life in James D....
With a competitive spirit, people are driven to act in ways that they would not otherwise and the
results can be drastic. In the case of James D. Watson and Francis Crick, in Watson s novel the
Double Helix, this sensation of competition leads to one of the greatest discoveries in biology. But
the actions of Watson, Crick, and their competitors may or may not be justified for the results that
they yield; the powerful conflict of rivalry has beneficial, detrimental, and questionably moral
consequences that shaped the pathway to DNAs structure.
At times, regardless of the setbacks, rivalry can be advantageous by giving people the inspiration to
continue. Debating on whether to give up the race, Watson realizes the full implications this... Show

What could have been a successful collaboration becomes a large setback for Watson since he and
Crick now had to basically start from the beginning. As the search continues, each scientist in this
rivalry is finding a possible solution but then being disproved by another since they suspend crucial
pieces of the puzzle from each other. Although Franklin places them in a state of near defeat,
Watson and Crick find the information they need in a questionable manner.
As Watson and Crick become a few steps away from discovering DNA s structure, the actions
they take are arguably justifiable and they realize the significance of this rivalry. After Maurice
Wilkins, who works in the same lab as Franklin, gave away Franklin s work to Watson, and
notes: ...that if we could all agree where science was going, everything would be solved, (170).
Maurice brings a good point; if they worked together, DNA s structure could have been
discovered sooner as well as other important mysteries of science. However, certain events would
not have occurred and there is an equal chance nothing would have been uncovered. As everything
falls into place, every action taken in order for Watson and Crick to reach the answer is reasonable
considering that it lead to biology s greatest structures. In the end, Watson, Crick, and Wilkins
receives the Nobel Prize but the reality of what they did to get there is not as straightforward.
The race for DNA s structure was full

The Roman Family Essay
The Roman nuclear family, composed of parents and children, shared lives intimately and
influenced each other in ways outsiders did not. Livy, in a quote debating the legal status of
children between patricians and plebeians, stated Of course, the children follow the father. In
Roman society, fathers were considered the most powerful. Romans believed in a theoretical
concept of a father s absolute control, but in reality, all family had power and fathers could be
challenged. Traditionally, fathers could discipline their children harshly, but by the late Roman
Republic, society discouraged extreme measures. In legend Titus Manlius beheaded his son for
leaving his military post against orders. Livy condemned it since such violent punishments were
rarely utilized with other options available. Fathers could kill their children in theory, but this
was not typical or even desirable to society, despite traditional support. Cato the Elder claimed
striking a wife or child was sacrilegious, so violent punishments were disagreeable to many
Romans. When a man called Cicero effeminate, he quipped that his son, known for prostitution,
needed to be spoken to that way by the father instead. While the father had to exercise leniency, he
exerted power too. After marriage, the father s control was transferred to the husband. Cato not
only controlled his wife s life by making her only take approved medicines, he also forced her to
nurse both her children and slaves, an undesirable

Summary Of The Poem Alone By Edgar Allen Poe
The poem Alone by Edgar Allen Poe is a flashback of the narrator s childhood. Edgar Allen Poe
uses various literary devices to create the loneliness felt by the narrator. The narrator uses a dark
and gloomy tone to describe his childhood, words such as sorrow, alone, stormy, thunder, and
gloomy are used to set up the tone of loneliness. The poem is what is referred to as a closed
poem; this is evident by the AABB scheme used in the poem. The poem seems to follow an
eight syllable rule per line. The use of eight syllables per line allows Edgar Allen Poe to create
his closed poem. Through the use of a gloomy tone, the narrator can describe how as a child he s
always felt alone and continues to feel so. In his twenty two line poem, Edgar Allen Poe uses
eleven sets of rhyming couplets and an AABBCCDDEEFFGGHHIIJJKKLL rhyming scheme. The
use of rhyming couplets and a different rhyme following each coupletallow Poe to create a
suspenseful and foreboding effect. The first couplet From childhood s hour I have not been/ As
others were I have not seen set out the theme of the poem, that being that the narrator wasn t like
other children. Poe s use of diction is evident with the use of the word seen. the narrator did not
see what many children saw, Poe s use of the word seen connects the narrator s senses of feel and
sight. The narrator seems to feel as if he s different than others due to his inability to see what
they saw. However, he fails to realize that despite possibly experiencing the same thing they
experienced he could still be different than others due to the way he feels about what he saw
and experienced. In line four My passions from a common spring the word spring could be both
a symbol and a metaphor used by Poe. The word spring could refer to how the narrator didn t
have a certain source to vent out his emotions to, perhaps a lack of a type of relationship with his
family or a lack of friends. This lack of spring by the narrator has contributed to his sense of
loneliness, thus continuing the overall theme. Lines five through eight create a bigger theme of the
poem, the poet doesn t feel sorrow simply because he experiences something different than others
but rather how he feels and

Essay On The Colony Of Virginia
The colony of Virginia was founded by a stock company: the Virginia Company. To attract people
Virginia made a wonderful charter. Emigrants who paid their own way to Virginia got fifty acres of
land. There would not be mere tenants. Civil authority would control the military. A council of
burgesses, representatives chosen by the inhabitants of the colony for their government, would be
convened as the House of Burgesses. The governor could veto their actions and the company still
had overall control of the venture, but the settlers would have a say in their own government,
including the right of the House of Burgesses to introduce money bills. The King s court appointed

representative to the house. The first meeting was on July 30, 1619. It was held in the choir of the
church on Jamestown Island. It lasted for six days, but was cut short by the disease, Malaria.
Problems began to strike, like a massacre from the Native Americans where they killed 400
colonists. As hard as the government tried to conceal the problems, the king heard about them. He
made virginia a crown colony. The king divided the colony into eight shires. By 1643, there were
15 shires! Most jobs were simply commanded to people. Only the representatives got votes to

than have it be just rich people. White men that were seventeen years old or older and owned land
were able to vote for these representatives. In 1652, Oliver Cromwell forced Jamestown to admit

a form of entertainment. However, many people do not realize it can also be used as a form of
social activism. Summer Harlow author of Social media and social movements: Facebook and an

Theoretical Perspective In Psychology
Without society, there cannot be a self (132). That said, the way one presents himself should be
examined in terms of the interplay between both the individual and the culture he is immersed in.
Symbolic statements used by the self, for example, are often constrained or shifted to convey a
meaning that aligns with the institution such a self belongs to. With this in mind, I observed the
office doors of the 3rd floor PsychologyDepartment in the Brogden Psychology Building by taking
photos of such doors to examine how such statements can reflect one as an individual and as a
member of a subculture.
Perhaps some of the most fascinating office doors amongst the ones I observed were those covered
in humorous decor. One lab office door in particular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, along with deductions made about the individuals, the observed symbolic statements can also
be examined through the lens of the subculture of the department as well. For example, although
there was an overall variety in content, the majority of the office doors observed contained personal
/humorous statements rather than informational/structured ones. Since these statements are seen by
other colleagues of the department, it is reasonable to assume that the department is playful in
nature. Similarly, many of the directions and lab doors were disorganized, exhibiting a uniform
nature of disarray rather than structured organization. Another form of content that was plentiful in
numbers was that of posters concerning mental health itself. This sentiment stresses passion for the
department s subculture itself, showcasing the department s pride in their research and its
importance on society as a whole. This department differs from others I ve seen in terms of
personality. The unique additions of humor and passion concerning the department set the

Lesser Animals In Animal Farm
Everyone has a point in his life where they find something to be absolutely ridiculous, whether it
is the opposal to gay marriage or the new hoverboard that everyone seems to have nowadays. Some
people choose to keep these thoughts to themselves and some choose to demonstrate their feelings
like George Orwell did with his satirical novel Animal Farm. With the largely avoidable hardships
of the animalsrepresenting the Soviet Unions working class, the naivete of these animals, and how
the events throughout the novel parallel the history of the Soviet Union, Orwell demonstrates
through the lesser animals in Animal Farm that he agrees that it is the responsibility of the public
to know what the government is doing at all times and that it is absurd to just blindly follow.
Through the hardships of the animals that could have easily been avoided if the government was
more carefully managed, Orwell illustrates this agreement that it is the responsibility of the public
to know what the government is doing at all times. Orwell demonstrates his feelings on the

Introduction
To succeed, we must face the world as it is (Obama, 2010, p.1). Globalization has resulted in
interconnecting the world in such a manner that was unimaginable even two decades ago. No
longer can any state, nation, or people expect to remain an island. Indeed, as we are
interconnected, so too are our fates. If the United States is to ensure security and prosperity for
her citizens now and for future generations, we must clearly acknowledge that part we play in the
continuum of shifting word powers and peace. We must recognize that although we are the world s
leading power, we are not the sole possessor and arbiter of influence.
The nuclear arms race of the Cold War years has given way to a race for building alliances in this
age of globalization. If we are to be successful in our pursuit of a more peaceful and sustainable
world order, we must be cognizant of the opportunities to help fledgeling democracies take root. As
well, we must be aware of the more nefarious motives of nations for whom state intervention is
merely a thin veil for imperialistic ambitions. With this, we consider the recent events in Ukraine
and its impact on our national security.

What And How The Software Requirement Specification ( Srs...
The debate about what and how the software requirement specification (SRS) should be made
between customers and contractors or suppliers continues. Also most computer science
engineers and researchers agree that, software requirements specification permits a rigorous
assessment of requirements before design can begin and reduces later redesign. It should also
provide a realistic basis for estimating product costs, risks, and schedules [1], in other words,
the SRS is the step that one would use to find the path to getting one s own goal. Since there is
not a standard for the SRS [14], it is necessary to find the hidden pattern for both the people who
is making the SRS and the people who is reading the SRS. Furthermore, in software design
engineers can refer the SRS as a part of larger problem solving process which encompasses
problem determination and generates the solution for the problem. Thus, researchers consider that
it is highly possible that the SRS can be classified under the problem solving cycle [2], which
engineers will recognize the problem, re define the problem in terms of making systems, develop a
strategy plan to fix the problem, organize the knowledge of the problem domain figure out the
resources that user s disposal by listing functionalities, monitor user s implementations, and
evaluate the solution for accuracy. In SRS is unnecessary to follow the exact order but it is highly

Transport Disadvantage And The Regional Transport Essay
Introduction It is widely acknowledged that Northern Ireland has suffered from decades of
underinvestment in its roads and public transport (RTS, Department for Regional Development
2002). Northern Irelands public transport networks are lacking in many areas of the country. To
address key issues surrounding a lack of adequate transport provision, and to combat the growing
problems of car dependence and transport disadvantage, the Northern Ireland Assembly
commissioned the Regional Development Strategy and the Regional Transport Strategy. This
essay will discuss the nature of transport disadvantage, identify the groups affected by transport
disadvantage, and evaluate and discuss the policies proposed by the Regional Transport
Strategy, and how they will attempt to remedy the problems faced by these disadvantaged
groups. What is Transport Disadvantage? Transport disadvantaged groups can be identified as
individuals and families in the society that cannot easily travel to the opportunities they would
like to use. (Warren, Paula 2011). Transport disadvantage can be more easily defined as the
difficulty in accessing transport through a result of cost, location, disability or age. Transport
disadvantage in Northern Ireland has been exacerbated by an increase in car dependency rates
and less investment in local transport services for socially disadvantaged groups. The number of
journeys mad by car in Northern Ireland accounted for 72% of all journeys made in 2012 2014, an

noise variance varies with the intensity of noise free signal. Film grainnoise is temporally

likely that the viewer will perceive the film grain noise. For high definition videos, the film grain

Antigone, Star Wars, and the Good Life
Sophocles s play Antigone promotes a good life that, through careful analysis, is very similar to
the Stoic theory of the good life. Antigone is a story about the members of the ancient Theban
aristocracy vying for control of themselves and others; however, in its core it contains an
exploration of the good life, that is trying to investigate what values will allow one to get what
they want out of life. A group of philosophers, also of Greek origin, produced a theory of this
topic; this group of thinkers is called the Stoics. Concerning the good life they had two main
values, from which they believe a good life can originate. The first of the two is finding
happiness from inner resources, or trying not to depend on things around you such as wealth or
adventure to give you a sense of happiness. The second facet is that of not worrying about things
that are out of your control, as there is no use. Antigone brings to stage these topics, and shows
characters who either live according to them, and exit with a good life, and others who deny
these, and end the play living in a bad life. Therefore the play shows through example, that Stoic
values will lead to a positive way of living, and living against the values will lead to you not
getting everything out of life. The two main characters in this tragedy are Creon, the king of
Thebes, and uncle of the other character Antigone, the daughter of the last king of the same city

knew you had it in you (3 10). This provides further evidence that this book is special to the girl.
Another important part of this poem is how the girl discovers a different part of herself. When
she starts to read, she feels a new energy, your poems were stirring my own poems (23). This new
feeling that she is feeling cause her to ponder stealing the book. The girl wanted to own this
moment, my breath came quickly, thinking it over (38 39). Her quick breath shows that this
would be the first time to steal anything from how worked up over it she was. As the rush started
dissipate the girl held the book before her as if it was something else, a mirror reflecting back,
someone I was becoming (46 49). Here as the girl is looking at the book her realizes who she was

Primal Therapy Research Paper
The First Session
Consists of initial diagnostic and data gathering from the client to ascertain their background,
medical history, specific issue, significant feelings of concern. A questionnaire can be used to good
effect to gather appropriate holistic information about the client in terms of their health and well
being including physical, mental and spiritual health.
This session is also an opportunity to explain to the client what to expect and what a typical course
of treatment entails. This serves to align both the client and the therapist. It is also an important
therapeutic relationship building opportunity as it is the first encounter. So it is important to lay the
foundation of this relationship with appropriate respect, empathy and honesty in order to build a

Effects of Text Messaging Among Teens
Effects of Text Messaging Among Teenagers IntroductionHow often do/did you use your
cellphone/smartphone as a teen? When I was a teen, I received my first cellphone at the age of
15. I thought personally this was the best invention ever created as a young teen and with that, I
soon found out that I just entered a whole new social world with these new technology devices. I
entered a generation that would be called the Tech Generation filled with cellphones/smartphones
and social media. I quickly discovered the texting function with my cellphone and started to send
texts daily to my friends. My cellphone became a necessity for me; if I did not have my cellphone,
I would freak out. In addition, I started to replace phone calls and... Show more content on

Cell phones have been engineered over the past years to accommodate the demand of texting,
such as offering a full 1QWERTY keyboard (QWERTY is the acronym that commonly describes
today s standard keyboard layout on English language computers), and many cell phone carriers
offer plans that contain unlimited texting. An example of one of this cellphones/smartphone
would be the ever popular IPhone, which holds functions that enables the users to be able to call
/text/email and even use special apps that give direct access to the internet or a social
networking site. According to Lenhart, 77% of adults and 71% of teenagers owned a cell phone
and 38% of those teenagers (12 17 years old) used their phones to text daily (30). A year later,
the same survey was administered with results increasing to 54% who text daily (30). The same
survey was again administered from the Pew Research Center by Lenhart in 2012 with the results
increasing to 84% of Americans ages 12 and up owning a cell phone and 63% of teenagers saying
they exchange text messages daily (2). The problem is texting is giving teenagers the option to
avoid face to face interactions and causing teens to lose important social skills. Fraser J.M. Reid,
(Associate Head at the Centre for Thinking and Language, School of Psychology, University of
Plymouth, Plymouth, UK), and Donna J. Reid, (PhD Student, at the Centre

Business Structures Within The United States
One of the most important decisions when starting a company is to determine the type of legal
entity best suited for your business. Each country has different legal business entities under its
regulatory framework. According to Dewhurst (2014), the most common types of business
structures within the United States are: proprietorship, partnership, corporation, limited liability
company, and cooperative. Additionally, there are other types of legal entities derived from the
association of different corporations, such as joint ventures.
A proprietorship is the most basic business entity (Dewhurst, 2014), in which an owner receives
all profits and is legally liable for the obligations related to the business. It is the easiest structure
to set up, register and maintain, and additional tax incomes are not legally separated from the
person. Its biggest disadvantage is that the personal property of the owner are not legally protected
in case of financial obligations or company debts (Pakroo, 2004).
A partnership is related to any business entity conformed for two or more owners, not registered as
a corporation or a limited liability company. The partnership can be of two types: General
partnership or limited partnership. In a limited partnership, one of the owners generally acts as the
general partner assuming responsibility for managing the business decisions, while the limited
partner only acts as a financial contributor to the business without any participation on business

  • 2. Secondhand Smoke For one to understand the effects of second hand smoke, one must look into the facts and figures of harm caused by second hand smoke. In order to eliminate the problems caused by second hand smoke, at least in public places, a national law needs to be passed to ban smoking from all indoor public places, such as bus stops, restaurants, and other work places. We can make this approach in many ways we can write articles, make billboard signs or we can even make tv ads to convince people that this is an issue and what we can do about it. An ad from California relates to the issue of smokingin a work environment to the states who do not have these types of smoking laws.where many people have to breath in the smoke. The ad was posted by TobaccoFreeCA.com and it says I breath second hand smoke so I can keep my job. Secondhand smoke is harmful and is dangerous and has many harmful side effects. We need to create laws to keep people who are in public areas safe and not so exposed to this. Countless people who don t smoke go to their jobs and basically are forced to become smokers by breathing in the second hand smoke is what this billboard is trying to convey to us. They can t just go and quit their jobs and find a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When you first look at the ad the first thing you see is a guy with what looks to be a jumpsuit. • 3. Ashurnasirpal II Ashurnasirpal II was the king of the Neo Assyrian Empire. He was known to be ruthless, warmongering, and violent as a leader. Under his reign, the empire was expanded and was brought whole by eliminating the rebels against his ruling. Due to his cruel nature, Ashurnasirpal II also made anyone who wanted to rebel against him cower in fear. Aaccording to the Ancient History Encyclopedia, it was recorded that in the rebel city of Tela, Ashurnasirpal II flayed the rebel leader and nailed his skin to the wall. This barbaric method of torture and execution would make his enemies tremble in fear. However, this cruelty also allowed Ashurnasirpal II to maintain order within the empire. Playtime by Jacques Tati Shot Analysis PLAYTIME by Jacques Tati Shot from 03:12 04:48 / Airport waiting room __________________________________________________________________________ Jacques Tati s 1967 film, Playtime, captures a cascading series of events through the sterile architecture of Paris, in which few familiar characters inhabit. Tati s infamous alter ego, Monsieur Hulot, haphazardly occupies many scenes as he stumbles through Paris after trying to contact an American official. The film is confined to no genre, nor does it necessarily form a new one it simply exists in its own right as an exploration of societal function. Originally shot on 70mm, the film carries... However, the audiences eyes are cleverly guided around the frame by almost unnaturally loud sounds, some of which are accentuated in post production by Tati. The sounds against the floors create a reverbing echo, highlighting the absurd impracticality of the building. A man and a woman sit in the bottom left hand corner of the frame in what appears to be a waiting area. They are dressed identically in their monotonous grey colours, as if they are enslaved to the colours surrounding them. During the shot s beginning, the audience is drawn to the nuns and their rhythmic footsteps as they enter the frame. Medication administration errors often result from multiple environmental and individual factors (Yoder, Schadewald, Dietrich, 2015, p. 140). Nurses are faced with several interruptions including other health care professionals, patients, and family members. Environmental factors such as: phone calls, call lights, alarms, malfunctioning equipment, and emergency situations can distract the nurseand prevent the nurse from administrating medications successfully. Research has shown that the most interruptions were from conversations with other personnel or stopping to do another patient care task (Yoder et al., 2015). The purpose of our paper is to discuss how collaboration, effective communication, and conflict management can improve the nursing medication administration process by both the intraprofessional and the interprofessional teams. The intraprofessional team is comprised of nurses that work on the unit and nurses who work on other units who may try to communicate with the nurse who is administering medications. The interprofessional team is made up of patient care technicians, the unit secretary, physicians, and other disciplines such as physical therapy, social work, pharmacy, and case management. Whether it is your speed, group size, destination, status, culture, personality, distractions, or sex, one way of the other they manage to have an impact on walking behaviors. Past researchers have indicated that these factors may have an effect on walkingbehaviors and with our observation we put the theories to test. The factors taken into account were genderand group size and their effect on walking speed and interpersonal distance. Earlier research finding have reported that interpersonal distances are influenced by dominance, attraction, age, similarity and gender. Willis (1996) reported in his research that young people are more like to approach one another closer and as people tend to age the more personal space is recorded. A closer more intimate space is seen in opposite sexpairs (Aiello 1987; Crawford and Unger 2000; Hall 1984; Heshka and Nelson 1972). From this finding, researchers conclude that when people interact in closer distances they have an attraction or interpersonal relationship. Dominance, power, and status are also said lead to lower interpersonal distance. Similarities in race, sexual preference, religions are also factors that contribute to a closer interpersonal distance (Bell et al., 2001). According to some researchers negatively toned situations cause larger spatial zones (Strayer and Roberts 1997). Studies suggest that women are more prone to react in ... • 12. Theme Of Individualism In Walt Whitman s Leaves Of Grass Individualism is important. This statement is made clear in Walt Whitman s book, Leaves of Grass, published in 1855. Leaves of Grass is a poetry collection composed in the nineteenth century, during the Westward Expansion. Contrary to popular poetic style in that period, Whitman wrote in free verse, meaning there was little to no rhyming or tempo. Individualism is a theme that sets the tone of Whitman s poems. Whitman uses the literary devices of repetition, asyndeton, imagery, and conflict to create the idea of individualism to set the tone. The repetition present in Whitman s works contributes significantly to the theme of his poems. Repetition can be used to emphasize differences; moreover, it can stress the individuality of every person. Whitman s work, I Hear America Singing, is an example of emphasizing differences, with lines 2 4 being, Those of mechanics, each one singing his as it should be blithe and strong, /The carpenter singing his as he measures his plank or beam, /The mason singing his as he makes ready for work, or leaves off work,... The water quality has gone down the drain in recent years due to numerous factors such as leaking sewage and trash pollution. This issue is an environmental concern because it makes the escherichia coli (e. coli) levels in the water go up, which can lead to illnesses and deaths of people and animals across the area. There was said to have been as much as 15,000 gallons of sewage that led directly into the Lake of the Ozarks(DNR). Romans believed in a theoretical concept of a father s absolute control, but in reality, all family had power and fathers could be challenged. The narrator uses a dark and gloomy tone to describe his childhood, words such as sorrow, alone, stormy, thunder, and gloomy are used to set up the tone of loneliness. The poem is what is referred to as a closed poem; this is evident by the AABB scheme used in the poem. The poem seems to follow an eight syllable rule per line. The use of eight syllables per line allows Edgar Allen Poe to create his closed poem. Through the use of a gloomy tone, the narrator can describe how as a child he s always felt alone and continues to feel so. The narrator seems to feel as if he s different than others due to his inability to see what they saw. However, he fails to realize that despite possibly experiencing the same thing they experienced he could still be different than others due to the way he feels about what he saw and experienced. In line four My passions from a common spring the word spring could be both a symbol and a metaphor used by Poe. The word spring could refer to how the narrator didn t have a certain source to vent out his emotions to, perhaps a lack of a type of relationship with his family or a lack of friends. This lack of spring by the narrator has contributed to his sense of loneliness, thus continuing the overall theme. Lines five through eight create a bigger theme of the poem, the poet doesn t feel sorrow simply because he experiences something different than others but rather how he feels and ... Emigrants who paid their own way to Virginia got fifty acres of land. There would not be mere tenants. Civil authority would control the military. A council of burgesses, representatives chosen by the inhabitants of the colony for their government, would be convened as the House of Burgesses. The governor could veto their actions and the company still had overall control of the venture, but the settlers would have a say in their own government, including the right of the House of Burgesses to introduce money bills. The first meeting was on July 30, 1619. It was held in the choir of the church on Jamestown Island. It lasted for six days, but was cut short by the disease, Malaria. Problems began to strike, like a massacre from the Native Americans where they killed 400 colonists. As hard as the government tried to conceal the problems, the king heard about them. He made virginia a crown colony. The king divided the colony into eight shires. By 1643, there were 15 shires! Most jobs were simply commanded to people. Only the representatives got votes to represent. Each shire would send a vote for a representative to go and work in the House, rather than have it be just rich people. That said, the way one presents himself should be examined in terms of the interplay between both the individual and the culture he is immersed in. With this in mind, I observed the office doors of the 3rd floor PsychologyDepartment in the Brogden Psychology Building by taking photos of such doors to examine how such statements can reflect one as an individual and as a member of a subculture. Since these statements are seen by other colleagues of the department, it is reasonable to assume that the department is playful in nature. Similarly, many of the directions and lab doors were disorganized, exhibiting a uniform nature of disarray rather than structured organization. Lesser Animals In Animal Farm Everyone has a point in his life where they find something to be absolutely ridiculous, whether it is the opposal to gay marriage or the new hoverboard that everyone seems to have nowadays. Some people choose to keep these thoughts to themselves and some choose to demonstrate their feelings like George Orwell did with his satirical novel Animal Farm. With the largely avoidable hardships of the animalsrepresenting the Soviet Unions working class, the naivete of these animals, and how the events throughout the novel parallel the history of the Soviet Union, Orwell demonstrates through the lesser animals in Animal Farm that he agrees that it is the responsibility of the public to know what the government is doing at all times and that it is absurd to just blindly follow. Through the hardships of the animals that could have easily been avoided if the government was more carefully managed, Orwell illustrates this agreement that it is the responsibility of the public to know what the government is doing at all times. Globalization has resulted in interconnecting the world in such a manner that was unimaginable even two decades ago. No longer can any state, nation, or people expect to remain an island. Indeed, as we are interconnected, so too are our fates. If the United States is to ensure security and prosperity for her citizens now and for future generations, we must clearly acknowledge that part we play in the continuum of shifting word powers and peace. We must recognize that although we are the world s leading power, we are not the sole possessor and arbiter of influence. The nuclear arms race of the Cold War years has given way to a race for building alliances in this age of globalization. If we are to be successful in our pursuit of a more peaceful and sustainable world order, we must be cognizant of the opportunities to help fledgeling democracies take root. As well, we must be aware of the more nefarious motives of nations for whom state intervention is merely a thin veil for imperialistic ambitions. • 37. What And How The Software Requirement Specification ( Srs... The debate about what and how the software requirement specification (SRS) should be made between customers and contractors or suppliers continues. Also most computer science engineers and researchers agree that, software requirements specification permits a rigorous assessment of requirements before design can begin and reduces later redesign. It should also provide a realistic basis for estimating product costs, risks, and schedules [1], in other words, the SRS is the step that one would use to find the path to getting one s own goal. Since there is not a standard for the SRS [14], it is necessary to find the hidden pattern for both the people who is making the SRS and the people who is reading the SRS. Furthermore, in software design engineers can refer the SRS as a part of larger problem solving process which encompasses problem determination and generates the solution for the problem. Thus, researchers consider that it is highly possible that the SRS can be classified under the problem solving cycle [2], which engineers will recognize the problem, re define the problem in terms of making systems, develop a strategy plan to fix the problem, organize the knowledge of the problem domain figure out the resources that user s disposal by listing functionalities, monitor user s implementations, and evaluate the solution for accuracy. Transport Disadvantage And The Regional Transport Essay Introduction It is widely acknowledged that Northern Ireland has suffered from decades of underinvestment in its roads and public transport (RTS, Department for Regional Development 2002). Northern Irelands public transport networks are lacking in many areas of the country. To address key issues surrounding a lack of adequate transport provision, and to combat the growing problems of car dependence and transport disadvantage, the Northern Ireland Assembly commissioned the Regional Development Strategy and the Regional Transport Strategy. This essay will discuss the nature of transport disadvantage, identify the groups affected by transport disadvantage, and evaluate and discuss the policies proposed by the Regional Transport Strategy, and how they will attempt to remedy the problems faced by these disadvantaged groups. What is Transport Disadvantage? Transport disadvantaged groups can be identified as individuals and families in the society that cannot easily travel to the opportunities they would like to use. (Warren, Paula 2011). Transport disadvantage can be more easily defined as the difficulty in accessing transport through a result of cost, location, disability or age. • 41. Antigone, Star Wars, and the Good Life Sophocles s play Antigone promotes a good life that, through careful analysis, is very similar to the Stoic theory of the good life. Antigone is a story about the members of the ancient Theban aristocracy vying for control of themselves and others; however, in its core it contains an exploration of the good life, that is trying to investigate what values will allow one to get what they want out of life. A group of philosophers, also of Greek origin, produced a theory of this topic; this group of thinkers is called the Stoics. Concerning the good life they had two main values, from which they believe a good life can originate. The first of the two is finding happiness from inner resources, or trying not to depend on things around you such as wealth or adventure to give you a sense of happiness. The second facet is that of not worrying about things that are out of your control, as there is no use. Antigone brings to stage these topics, and shows characters who either live according to them, and exit with a good life, and others who deny these, and end the play living in a bad life. Therefore the play shows through example, that Stoic values will lead to a positive way of living, and living against the values will lead to you not getting everything out of life. Each country has different legal business entities under its regulatory framework. According to Dewhurst (2014), the most common types of business structures within the United States are: proprietorship, partnership, corporation, limited liability company, and cooperative. Additionally, there are other types of legal entities derived from the association of different corporations, such as joint ventures. A proprietorship is the most basic business entity (Dewhurst, 2014), in which an owner receives all profits and is legally liable for the obligations related to the business. It is the easiest structure to set up, register and maintain, and additional tax incomes are not legally separated from the person. Its biggest disadvantage is that the personal property of the owner are not legally protected in case of financial obligations or company debts (Pakroo, 2004). A partnership is related to any business entity conformed for two or more owners, not registered as a corporation or a limited liability company. The partnership can be of two types: General partnership or limited partnership.
