Hypocritical Ageism In The United States
There are age restrictions on everything from buying lighters to purchasing alcoholic beverages. There
are restrictions on watching movies and donating plasma. These restrictions are meant to, in a way,
protect the younger people from making mistakes or being influences by things they don t fully
understand or could be harmed by. One of the most debated restrictions could possibly be the Alcohol
age restrictions. The legal age in the United States to consume and purchase alcohol is 21. This age
cutoff is quite unneeded. It becomes more of a temptation and a danger than if the restriction were
simply altered to a lower age.
In the United States, when a person becomes 18, they are no longer considered to be a minor. The
people are legally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There should be more government programs to educate and prevent people from driving intoxicated.
The Texas Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse (TCADA) survey found out that by the time
teenagers are seniors in high school, more than 80% of the teens admit to having some experience
with alcohol. Texas is a zero tolerance state for underage drinking; it has some of the strictest penalties
for underage drinking, and if 80% of the teenagers in Texas have had experiences with alcohol then it
is apparent that the campaigns against underage drinking, and zero tolerance programs are not
working. Teens are going to be tempted to drink alcohol at some point of their lives. So instead of
having these 18 year old legal adults restricted, the government should spend their money to inform
their people about safety when drinking instead of the severe prevention of teens drinking.

Cybercrime And The Fight Against Cybercrime
Introduction The modern society has experienced profound effects due to information systems which
characterize almost all facets of individual and community life. Accordingly, a large amount of
research has been dedicated to creating understanding about this phenomenon. Arguably, this may
have overshadowed the debate on the ethical, social and legal issues that have accompanied the advent
of information systems (Schell Martin, 2004). In particular, while many people are aware of
cybercrime, very few understand its far reaching implications. For this reason, this discussion will
focus on exploring cybercrime, with a special focus on its legal, ethical and social impacts. In doing
so, it will also comment on the responsibilities that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, the state of affairs has made it even more complicated for law enforcement to keep up
with the pace at which cybercrime is evolving. To begin with, computers and networks continue to
become more vulnerable than ever. In a rush to reap the numerous benefits of the internet, individuals
and organizations alike are overlooking some of the very important aspects that are supposed to
enhance their security on the internet. Likewise, other issues like the virtual nature of this type of
crimes, increase and ease in availability of attack tools, competing regulating priorities, and an
inadequate worldwide legal landscape have intensified the complexity of the fight against cybercrime
for law enforcement (Lovet, 2009). Finally, the growing complexity of cybercrime has showed the
importance of constant review of the relevant legislation. This is well exemplified in the changes made
in the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (Appazov, 2014). This piece of legislation is the only one that
specifically handles the issue of cybercrime without dependence on the legislation crafted for other
crimes. All in all, there is need for more work as it pertains to legislation in order to sufficiently cover
crimes of this nature.
Social Impacts The society is arguably the most affected by the advent of the internet, information
systems, and most especially cybercrime. This is because it has broadened

Confirmation Of Constitution
Confirmation of a constitution is a strong move that makes the drafted document the law of the
specified land. It should be supported by majority parties involved. As an editor of the New York
newspaper, I do not support the ratification of the United States Constitution in 1788 because it tends
to conquer and violate some necessary procedures. I believe reasons such as defects in the post
revolution War articles of confederation and lack of central authority over foreign and domestic
commerce that lead to the drafting of the document was not substantial enough initiate the
documentation of the constitution. The material happens to lack fare terms that apply to all the parties,
therefore, could not be signed or ratified into law. The document

Women Of The United States Armed Forces
Women are vital to the stability and efficiency of all branches of the United States armed forces.
Although women s presence may be necessary to the operation of the military, their placement in
combat positions would prove to be a devastating mistake. The body of a woman is not made to brave
combat positions, and placing women into positions dominated by men could create a hostile working
environment. The atmosphere of battle is already heated, and placing more problems into the equation
could lead to the unraveling of military effectiveness as the country knows it. Consequently, women
should continued to be excluded from combat oriented positions in order to preserve the superb work
of the United States armed forces. Placing a woman into a field comprised mostly of men would upset
a balance of unit cohesion and morale among their male counterparts. Unit cohesion result[s] from
proximity of group members over time; social similarities or commonalities; success at joint tasks;
and concerned, competent, honest leaders (Simons). This means that the individuals that comprise a
combat unit must be able to relate to each other, and work together in positive and constructive ways
in order to carry out dangerous, high risk missions. During combat operations, soldiers and their units
are confined to small spaces for extended periods of time. The addition of women into this close
quartered group would add romantic and sexual elements that can cause competition, jealousy, and

A Career In Physical Therapy
Honors anatomy and physiology medical career reflection paper
By: Tiarra sorey For the medical career project I decided to do physical therapy, physical therapy is
the restoration of movement and physical function impaired or threatened by disease, injury, or
disability. Physical therapists determine a plan for rehabilitation for patients which may include
stretching, strength training, exercises and physical manipulation. There has been a significant
increase in the demand for physical therapists, the employment of physical therapists is projected to
grow 34% between 2014 and 2024. Physical therapy is a very excellent career and has become more
intriguing to me during this project and helped me confirm what I want to do in the future even more.

Completing this project influenced my aspiration to become a physical therapist because it showed me
how perfect this career would be for me, it showed me that being a physical therapist wouldn t even
feel like work because I would enjoy the daily tasks and challenges such as giving motivation to
patients and making them feel stronger and more confident in themselves. During the research of the
project I read articles on other physical therapists such as Timothy DiFrancesco, former PT for the Los
angeles lakers and also Emily Beyer, the team PT for the Minnesota Lynx, they kept saying how
challenging it can be on a daily basis, whether it was trying to get athletes to work up to their limit or
just simply trying to get the patients to trust them. Reading those articles made me tell myself that
being a physical therapist was clearly challenging which is what I like, I believe that because physical
therapy can be such a complex job it really influenced me to pursue a career in that

Summary Of The Fan-Celebrity Relationship In Johnny Cash
5.1 Introduction
In the preceding quotation, Patsy draws our attention to the fan celebrity relationship, in this instance,
with Johnny Cash. Although several fans in my sample share her sentiment that Cash is similar to a
member of their family Patsy places him in even higher esteem than do other fans. I isolate this
example in the introduction to this chapter because of its mention that Johnny Cash, for Patsy, is not a
god, but, as she says, he s pretty much the next thing to it. Fandom as religion literature maintains a
tendency to bridge the gap between Patsy and God, by referring to the celebrity as a mediator or
redeemer figure, in some cases, literally, and in others it is a metaphorical rendering. It is accurate to
write the celebrity performs certain mediation for the fan; celebrities, through their image, mediate
fans hopes and desires, but also more mundane ways fans interpret their world, such as the examples
illustrated in Chapter 4. For Fandom as religion scholars, however, celebrities such as Elvis Presley
and Cliff Richards mediate more sacred, rather than quotidian, concerns. In Fandom as religion
literature, the sacred is set apart and protected from everyday banality, and through universe
maintenance, such as the shrine building described by Doss in the chapter Saint Elvis, places the
celebrity on a sacred pedestal. Other than such connotation, the celebrity as sacred figure is a poorly
defined entity in Fandom as Religion literature (see Doss 1999;

Essay On Charles Lindbergh
Charles Lindbergh (commonly known for the Lindbergh Effect) was one of, if not the, most important
celebrity in aviation for growth of the industry. Lindbergh single handedly impacted the minds of
millions of people with respect to aviation, starting from it being viewed as dangerous and stupid, to it
being glamorous and helpful, and then growing to it being completely relied upon in today s society.
Aviation would not be where it is at today without the help of this young man. This is due to him
being the first to make a solo flight across the Atlantic, taking a tour of the United States via his plane,
and by also helping to grow airlines in the United States. In order to fully explain how Lindbergh

Whilst performing as a barnstormer, Charles learned how to fly by essentially just teaching himself.
He learned the fundamentals of flying, and was said to have been a great pilot because he just had the
instinct for it, something that was very rare at this point in time. Lindbergh quit being a barnstormer so
that he could go to the school of flying through the United States Navy. Within a year he had
graduated, being the first in his class. This showed that he had great promise in aviation, but instead of
actually joining the Navy, he decided to become a pilot of the United States Airmail. Being an airmail
pilot was actually still very dangerous at this time, and had a high death rate. Lindbergh however did
not stay an airmail pilot for very long, and decided he was going to take up the challenge of flying
over the Atlantic with no stops, something no one had accomplished yet. Raymond Orteig, a hotel
owner, set a prize of $25,000 (known as the Orteig Prize) to the first person (or people) to fly across
the Atlantic, from New York to Paris, without making any stops. Many people had attempted this,
including a team led by a French pilot known as René Fonck, an explorer named Richard E. Byrd, and
a team that included Clarence Chamberlin and Bert Acosta. All of these teams had failed, some of
which dying in the process. One of the more promising flights (flown by Curtiss and a few others)

A survey published in 2013 by the Pew Research Center found that an increasing number of
Americans want the US to mind its own business internationally and let other countries get along the
best they can on their own. 52% of Americans agreed with this statement, which is the highest it has

the US should increase spending on the foreign to of struggling nations. First of all, the US is not

Differences Involved In The Digestive System
The digestive system is one of the main organ systems. The first process in the digestive system is to
consume the food. This is called ingestion. The digestive system is what absorbs and breaks down the
food and drinks that were eaten. The digestive organs break down food in two ways, mechanical
digestion and chemical digestion. In mechanical digestion, the processes starts from the mouth to the
stomach. During this process the food gets broken into smaller sizes. Then from there chemical
digestions begins to occur. Chemical digestion is when many different enzymes break down the
molecules so that they can be absorbed. Chemical digestion begins in the mouth and continues in the
intestines. The mouth does two things, mechanical breakdown of ... Show more content on

The food is changed into chyme which is a slimy material. The chyme gets mixed with highly acidic
gastric juice and strong digestive enzymes in the stomach. This is to prepare the chyme for the small
intestine. There are hormones like gastine and molin that help move the chyme and pump gastric juice.
The chyme then goes to the first part of the small intestine called the duodenum. The small intestines
have three parts which are the duodenum, jejunum, and the ileum. The small intestines break down the
chyme by enzymes from the pancreas and bile. The pancreas produces insulin which controls
metabolism in the blood and enzymes that break down fats, carbohydrates, and protein. Then the
gallbladder releases the bile it stores into the duodenum to absorb fats. The duodenum is mostly the
continuous breakdown of the chyme while the jejunum and ileum absorb the nutrients. All the
nutrients get absorbed from the foods (vitamins, proteins, minerals, fats, and carbohydrates) that travel
into the bloodstream throughout the body. This is the third main function called absorption. The liver
absorbs all the nutrients from the small intestines. Another thing that the liver does is it makes
chemicals from the nutrients it absorbs that the body needs. It also breaks down poisons and drugs in
the body. From the small intestines come the large intestines (colon) that are attached to the small

Juxtaposition In The Destructors
There are two types of fiction, literary and commercial. Because the former is more intricate, the
literary approach is often taken while writing meaningful short fiction meant to convey a deeper truth.
Therefore, in order for a short story to be thought provoking, it must be of the literary variety, which
contains complex structure, round characters, and themes that are evident through symbolic elements
within the story. This can best be shown through the juxtaposition and comparison of the commercial
story, The Most Dangerous Game, against the literary story, The Destructors. Something that is able to
generate thought in the mind of the reader is effective characterization, done through the usage of
characters who have deep emotional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, a symbolic structure is necessary in creating an atmosphere of thought inside the reader, as
it will allow for deeper analytical exploration of the story as a whole. The structure of a story can act
as a symbol and provide a portrayal of the plot, as seen prominently within The Destructors, since the
story is formatted in an interesting way that works to parallel the events occurring. The structure is
interesting, as there are four sections, all with little or no transition between them. Important
information about the context of the time of day is purposely left out by Greene, the author, to
symbolize the disjointedness of the boys lives. This is shown explicitly in the transition, or lack
thereof, from section one to two. Section two begins after a conversation between the boys has ended,
and section 1 skips to the beginning of the next day. Here, the structure purposely caused the reader to
jump ahead in time and miss the events that take place in between the omitted periods of time. The
reader does not get to know what is occurring there. By generating the feeling of missed time, the
structure acts to symbolize the literal discombobulation within the boys lives, and how the Blitz
stripped them of their previous sense of normality in day to day life. The disconnectedness of the
formation of the story mirrors the physical acts of destruction depicted in the story, since the structure
itself is unruly. When the reader compares this story to the commercial story The Most Dangerous
Game, it is apparent that it is more thought out, as the structure of The Most Dangerous Game is
ordinary, and does not convey any larger meaning about the story as a whole. It contains dialogue and
description, however this is to further the plot instead of illustrating other intricate ideas.

Breastfeeding has been shown to exert a protective effect on females. In multiple case control and
cohort studies, the difference in the two groups at hand in relation to breast cancer risk were the length
at which they breastfed (Chen, 2013). In another meta analysis, it was shown that duration of maternal
nursing correlates with substantial risk reduction independent of either parity or age at first full term
pregnancy (Lippman, 2012).
Physical activity. Increased physical activity has many benefits to the average human, however, for
women it is postulated to reduce breast cancer risk. Although the exact mechanism is unknown, it is
thought to do so through hormonal influences, such as reducing serum estrogens, insulin, and insulin
growth factor 1 levels (Chen, 2013). In another recent review, it was estimated that risk of breast
cancer was reduced by 25 percent among physically active women compared with women who were
the least active (Lynch, 2011).

The Pros And Cons Of Roe V. Wade
In 1971 Jane Roe attempted to have an abortion, but was opposed by Henry Wade, the District
Attorney of Dallas who was determined to enforce the Texas law that made abortion, unless medically
necessary, illegal. The conflict only grew in strength and publicity until it landed at the Supreme Court
in the now legendary case of Roe v. Wade. When the legal battle was over, women were granted the
right to abortion in the second trimester, a right that continues to cause conflict 40 years later. The case
ran from 1971 1973 and it got a heated debate started across the United States. The topic of abortion
had always been debated heavily but Roe v. Wade sparked a wave of protests and new opinions. The
argument over abortion prior to Roe v. Wade is similar to what it is today; there are those who support
abortion (pro choice) and those who don t (pro life). Of course each has its exceptions to what is
viewed as acceptable. Many supported abortion because women went to extremely dangerous lengths
to terminate their pregnancies. ¨In 1965, illegal abortions made up one sixth of all pregnancy and
childbirth related deaths¨, (Planned Parenthood; Roe v. Wade). Many religious leaders and figures
were anti abortion because of their beliefs, ¨Doe v. Bolton [410 U.S. 179 (1973)] , the Supreme Court
ruled that the unborn child is not a ¨person¨ at any time before birth...¨ (The Catholic Advance; A Non
Person).

Many people believe that The Earth s sixth mass extinction is already underway. They also believe
that climate change or volcano eruptions is to blame for this problem, which is true but many people

The Motif Of Water In The Assault By Harry Mulisch
In Harry Mulisch s novel The Assault, Mulisch expands on the historical event of the murder of Fake
Kirst who was assassinated on the streets of Amsterdam by Grommet Krijger through the life of Anton
Steenwijk following World War Two. Throughout the novel Mulisch takes advantage of numerous
motifs and expands their ability through a longstanding motif of water. He uses these themes to
develop the central character Anton who works to conquer history and his own past. The motif of
water is a strong decision by Mulisch that broadens the novel s overall depth and meaning .

visible in memory (151). Subsequently Mulisch has tardily ended the ongoing question of viewing and

Pros And Cons Of Water Desalination

Approximately 75% of the Arab population live below the water scarcity level, half of them live under
the level of 500 m3/cap./year (UNISCO 2015, p78). Some argue that people live in this region can
rely on groundwater. However, groundwater is already exhausted and under high pressure by the
growing population. Moreover, boreholes and wells are vulnerable to quality reduction, pollution and
seawater infiltration (Alghariani 2003). Accordingly, people should depend on desalination as a
reliable and practical alternative. For Example, recent estimates indicate that up to 25 million m3 of
desalinated water produce daily worldwide, of which almost two thirds the production and 77% of all

Essay on The Longest Day
quot; The Longest Day quot; was a mammoth project dramatizing D day, the Allied invasion of France.
It was nearly three hours in length and with an enormous ensemble cast, all playing supporting roles.
The production was very conscientious about realism, the actors were always of the same nationality
as their characters, and spoke in their native languages, leading to a lot of subtitles translating French
and German dialogue. Although the movie was historically correct, it was also meant to be a
blockbuster by starring John Wane, Robert Mitchum, Sean Connery and Henry Fonda. But The
American role in the invasion is not exaggerated, and the German soldiers and officers are not
portrayed as brutal stereotypes.
The date for invasion was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Given consideration that the film was made in early sixties these things are easily forgiven. The movie
did a very good job in focusing on Omaha beach where the allies had encountered most resistance. It
was the most restricted and heavily defended of all beaches. The Allies had assigned one veteran
division to this beach. Germans were fighting furiously to defend the beach, and the invasion of
Omaha was very close to failure, but due to grate leadership, the Allis were able to get inland. There
were 2 400 casualties in the fist 2 hours. The movie also showed the other four beaches but it didn t
focus on them as much as Omaha beach, and the air drop.
12000 aircraft supported the land invasion force, the plan was to divide the German forces, to ease the
landing on the beaches. The paratroops were suppose to be dropped off in a small aria between the
city, which was occupied by Germans, and the swamp aria, which was purposely flooded by the
Germans, and flank them. The movie did an amazing job in reproducing this event. Due to the bad
weather the man got scattered all over the place, people fell into wells, landed in trees, fell through the
roofs, and many had drowned in the swamp. One part of the movie shows an English solder landing in
a courtyard full of German solders. He was immediately apprehended and taken to German

Resistance Training Program
Discussion #2
The importance of the endocrine system when designing a resistance training program:
The endocrine system releases hormones to help the body regulate and stabilize internally. When
designing a resistance training program, it is important to look at the predicted outcome (for example:
muscle growth) and see what hormones are linked to that predicted outcome. The goal is to get the
best hormonal response from areas that will help guide you to the intended outcome of the program. If
I was designing a program for strength and muscle growth (using the knowledge I have of the
endocrine system), I know that human growth hormone and testosterone are the hormones that will
play a large role there. Since testosterone directly interacts

Mute In An English Only World Summary
Immigrating and living in a new environment are always difficult. Especially when someone has to
speak an unfamiliar language most of the time since he or she arrives in the new country. However,
because of the remarkable progress on diversity and communication, learning new languages becomes
unnecessary to immigrants because they can live in the community with those who speak the same
language with them. The public organization such as court or hospital also have interpreter service, so
the immigrants aren t confused when they face issues. Therefore, it looks like learning few new
language are capable of handling their daily communication, such as buying groceries and ordering
food. But, learn the language of a new country still is an important mission for immigrants. Learning a

In this case, they have to learn and accept the local country and communicate with local people. That
is why they should learn a new language. In Mute in an English Only World , Lee shows us small,
ordinary daily activities to demonstrate how his mother has issues of communication with butcher
because of language defection. As he said, his mother often encountered great difficulty whenever she
went out. One day, Lee s mother went to a butcher store to buy some fresh oxtails. However she could
not order the meat in English. Finally she came home with nothing. From this example, we can feel
how devastated Lee s mother was when she had disabilities and difficulties to communicate with the
butcher due to language inability. This is an appropriate example that shows the consequence of
disregarding the new language. The new languages are necessary in immigrants daily life. If Lee s
mother was having a medical emergency instead of buying meat, the new language might be the most
valuable solution to save her life. Local languages are necessary to immigrants while they get into
unexpected situation and have to seek support

Android Application Development Fundamentals
Application Fundamentals
Quickview
Android applications are composed of one or more application components (activities, services,
content providers, and broadcast receivers) Each component performs a different role in the overall
application behavior, and each one can be activated individually (even by other applications) The
manifest file must declare all components in the application and should also declare all application
requirements, such as the minimum version of Android required and any hardware configurations
required Non code application resources (images, strings, layout files, etc.) should include alternatives
for different device configurations (such as different strings for different languages ... Show more

Another component, such as an activity, can start the service and let it run or bind to it in order to
interact with it. A service is implemented as a subclass of Service and you can learn more about it in
the Services developer guide.
Content providers A content provider manages a shared set of application data. You can store the data
in the file system, an SQLite database, on the web, or any other persistent storage location your
application can access. Through the content provider, other applications can query or even modify the
data (if the content provider allows it). For example, the Android system provides a content provider
that manages the user s contact information. As such, any application with the proper permissions can
query part of the content provider (such as ContactsContract.Data) to read and write information about
a particular person. Content providers are also useful for reading and writing data that is private to
your application and not shared. For example, the Note Pad sample application uses a content provider
to save notes. A content provider is implemented as a subclass of ContentProvider and must
implement a standard set of APIs that enable other applications to perform transactions. For more
information, see the Content Providers developer guide.
Broadcast receivers A broadcast receiver is a component that responds to system wide broadcast

Money And Spirituality
Money Spirituality Do They Mix? By Anisa Aven Aug 17, 2007 The hoary argument that you cannot
have both spirituality and abundance continues to proliferate and entangle the minds and experience of
many seekers. As a culture, we constantly deal with the subconscious remnants caused by the conflict
between money and spirituality. We have allowed toxic ideas to pervade our unlimited essence like a
virus destroying our intrinsic right to wealth and fulfillment. Ideas such as money is the root of all evil
, that it s easier to get a camel through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get into heaven , and
that if you are rich, then you must be either a crook, selfish, or hardened abound in the global
consciousness poisoning our natural right to wealth. Additionally, the infamous subconscious
impression amongst many spiritual practitioners and seekers, you cannot be spiritual and a servant of
the Divine, if you charge for your talent or knowledge continues to be the self imposed prison that
forces many spiritual workers to thrash about in a sea of lack. These are just an infinitesimal sampling
of the money and spirituality don t mix disease. Indeed, if one becomes consumed with the pursuit of
wealth from the external vantage point, their spiritual unification will be compromised. They may
achieve wealth but at the cost of the fulfillment of their divine destiny and at the expense of personal
peace. On the other side, when one pursues

country under complete totalitarian control. He is part of a poor city with little food and huge
pyramids. These pyramids are home to a party called Big Brother which uses surveillance cameras to
constantly watch its people and exercise its power. Winston s main attributes are his fatalism and
rebelliousness. Winston hates the Party passionately and starts to test the limits of its power. He has a
love affair with Julia one of his fellow workers and writes about his hate for Big Brother in his diary
and eventually joins the anti party brotherhood. The odd shape of Winston s room allowed him to sit

important symbol in 1984 because it s the face of the party and the leader behind the immense power.
The paperweight and Saint Clements Church are also very important symbols. The paperweight
represents his rebellion against big brother and takes him back to his childhood before the Party took
over, when you could have or do something just because it brings pleasure. Saint Clements Church
also represents his childhood memories before big brother came into power. Winston remembers a
couple of phrases from an old song based on Saint Clements Church. Oranges and lemons, say the

Decision Making Process At Southwest Airlines
Part E: Cost, Profit, and Investment Center
Decision making
The decision making process at Southwest Airlines is decentralized whereby the decision making
authority is delegated to lower level managers and employees. This is based on the idea that managers
at the lower level have a better understanding of local factors and conditions hence are better
positioned to make decisions than the senior management. The airline understands the need for
empowering employees and the impact this empowerment has on the company. For instance, when the
airline wanted to refurbish its employee s uniform, instead of hiring someone outside the company, the
airline invited all employees who had suggestions about the new uniform to apply. The employees
who were selected for this process met every two weeks to discuss the design of the new uniforms
(Thomas, 2016).
For Southwest Airlines, incorporating employee input in the decision making process creates a more
authentic brand. For instance, the involvement of employees in the uniform design made the
employees take pride in being part of the airline. The decentralized decision making approach makes it
possible for Southwest Airlines to bring employees from different departments and various cities to
interact with each other and build a cohesive workplace. In addition, employee involvement in the
decision making process at the company makes employees to feel more motivated and loyal to the
company.

Identity and Women Issues in Pour it up by Rihanna
No matter how much people may talk about its artistic merit, it nonetheless objectifies and therefore

Cox, journalist at the Daily Mail, summarizes of Pour it up , the music video released in 2013 by
Rihanna to launch her new song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehcVomMexkY). The video is
constructed on an extreme usage of female s bodies and it poorly represents the image of women
expressed today by mainstream media channels. Moreover, the singer fluctuates her body; she
portrays pole dancers, strippers and some dance moves including twerking , a particular alluring hip
style of dancing. (Cox) Currently, the music video has been watched by millions of people and it
questioned whether Rihanna could still be considered a role model to her millions of young and
impressionable fans. In this paper, I will carefully analyze the video s content by correlating the
messages sent by the images to some media theories starting from the cultural industry concept and
the idea of the commodity feticism by Adorno and Hockheimer. Then, I will comment on the reactions
given by the public and various media outlets. Firstly, Rihanna is a Barbadian singer of twenty five
years old and she is the nation s first artist to win a Grammy Award. When she was sixteen, she moved
to the United States and she made her debut in 2005. The official music video for Pour It Up was

Ion Euripides
In Ion Euripides describes a realistic plot that matches nowadays events as well. He focuses on the
vicissitudes of human life that lead the characters to the brink of ruin, and that raise on top of
happiness at the same time. The life full of ups and downs is depicted in the example of Creusa s life
story. In Ion there are scenes that are composed of big fear, sincere repentance, strong jealousy, and
pure love of Creusa. When young and innocent Creusa has been deceived by Apollo, she has to leave
her newborn child on his fate under the big fear of being perceived as disgraced daughter of the king
Erechtheus. What has happened to her is the biggest secret that she cannot tell anyone. This strong
fear makes Creusa conceal the birth of her first baby, and her liaison with Apollo. Having no will for
that Creusa encumbers herself with that burden but stays faithful wife of Xuthus who she will be
espoused to after that event (Ion, 9 17, 58 62). The second significant Creusa s emotion is her sincere
repentance. Creusa consciously admits her wrong decision of leaving the helpless child, and asks for
forgiveness. Creusa considers her inability to have children as her punishment for leaving that child
alone in the cave. Her deep rooted feeling of guiltiness never ... Show more content on

Analysis Of No Time To Stop By Kate Hosking
The feature articles No Time to Stop written by Kate Legge and The Ugly Truth about Beauty by Julie
Hosking, embody a range of generic conventions. Both articles make use of conventions such as a
descriptive opening paragraph, graphics and omission, to allow the journalists to present their ideas
and opinions effectively to the reader. A common idea evident in both texts relate to children and
society; the first article conveniently stating that if only we more willing to help and were less
engrossed in our own lives, a young boy would ve been reluctant to see the next day. The other article

her falsified childhood. These ideas, together ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The immediate pronunciation of Kieran s death, by then he was dead , leaves the reader guilt stricken,
contemplating that maybe if people were less engrossed in their own lives and more attentive to

compares the lives of two girls, showing two extremes a little Somalian girl and American girl. The
contrast between these girls displays how invigorating the little American princesses childhood is,
alternatively how depressing the little Somalian girl s childhood is. The first one lives in a dustbowl,
nothing between her and unforgiving sky. Her clothes are torn and dirty, her feet rough and bare. The
second lives in a four bedroom house surrounded by trophies. Her clothes are covered in feathers and
sequins, manicured feet ensconced in silver heels . The descriptive comparison between the two girls
in the opening paragraph entices the reader and notes how the African child is deprived of her
childhood because of hunger and poverty and how deceptive the other little girl s childhood is through
the glamorisation and vicarious motives of her mother.

Introduction Of A Foreign Species
Biodiversity Introduction
For once in history, the introduction of a foreign species has had paramount importance throughout
their evolution for many terrestrial ecosystems. Apis Mellifera also commonly known as the Western
Honey bee, is a vital component to global biodiversity. The honey bee provides ecosystem services of
considerable ecological significance for the reproduction of plants and for the pollination of many
economically important crops. Although the place of origin of Apis Mellifera is unclear, North
America was introduced to the Western Honey bee around 1622 by European colonists (Weber, E.
2012). Amongst the eight species in the genus Apis, Apis Mellifera is the most widely valued honey
bee in the United States(citation). Apis Mellifera live in nests, called a hive, and typically house 40,00
bees, which are divided into three different types of adult bees: Queen, Worker, Drone(Winston, M. L.,
1987). Majority of the bees living in the beehive are Worker bees that provide majority of the
fundamental processes needed to sustain the beehive. Honey bees consume processed nectar (honey)
and pollen (bee bread) which are both found in Angiosperms (flowering plants). Nectar, which bees
convert to honey serves as a primary source of carbohydrates (Winston, M. L., 1987). This provides
honey bees energy for flight and product for colony maintenance. Honey bees will die within a few
days if they do not have a surplus abundance of honey (Winston, M. L., 1987). Pollen is

By the time of the Civil War, the United States was beginning to rearrange itself from an agrarian
region into that of an industrial nation. However, the United States did not enter the Industrial Age
smoothly, rather it took years to understand the complexities of industry and would primarily be
located within the northern region of the country. United States law had not yet been able to wrangle
these new opportunities and resulted in companies taking advantage of desperate workers who were in
need of a job. The Civil War would take its toll on these workers and would create new areas of work,
prospects for women and immigrants to work, and would give birth to some of the first unions. By the
end of the Civil War, it was clear that the North ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

trying to eavesdrop on his competition in the election. The men were caught and arrested. It wasn t

collaboration and flexibility to administer the school library program. The culmination of my

school such as instruction, collaboration, promoting literacy, and as the school library program
administrator.

Altruistic And Of Altruistic Acts
Introduction In this section, I will deliver my idea on when people tend to be altruistic and who they
are prone to act on it. I make the assumption that the reason why someone would be altruistic would
be something that varies upon the individual, and the event they are altruistic, I hold it as a
multidimensional explanation in answering why. I think this because I can see all these models having
partial truth in the reality of how it is, I am sure that one person might help another due to empathy,
and that another might do it so they get the attention of their possible sexual partner, etc. Every model
can be correct depending on the person, and the event. I include event rather than solely person,
because although a person might often choose to be altruistic in many events for a particular reason,
this same reason doesn t necessarily have to be the case for every event they are altruistic. However,
my topic deals with my belief that who, and when altruistic acts are likely to be executed. My
premises for this idea are that when and who people are altruistic with is something that is less fluid,
than a multidimensional theory on why altruism exists, enough so that it doesn t become an absolute
principle, but a psychological tendency. This is my rough theoretical model for a psychological
tendency in altruism that I believe to be constantly realizing.
Basic Theoretical Model It is in my belief that the idea of diffusion is applicable as an explanation or
support of a

The Hebrew Bible, By Marc Zvi Brettler
How To Read The Jewish Bible, authored by Biblical scholar, and professor, Marc Zvi Brettler, is an
enlightening text, guiding people towards studying the Hebrew Scriptures purposefully. Brettler
(2005) reveals his book provides a response to the frustration many readers hold towards the Hebrew
Bible, with the conventional tendency of filtering it through the lens of present day culture. Generally,
he argues, as a result, this leads one to misconstrue passages or arrive at the definitive conclusion the
Bible holds no relevant value within our contemporary era and therefore, should collect dust.
Written as an introduction to the Hebrew Bible, Brettler designedly provides a neutral approach to aid

5).
Brettler s goal of guiding readers toward an appreciation and understanding of the purpose in utilizing
the historical critical study practice is well laid out as a foundation to the book. By prioritizing the first
four chapters as he did, Brettler sets the tone of how one should survey the Scriptures for the greatest
illumination. From the start, he outlines what the historical critical method is in theory and practice,
which dispels the assumption every reader holds a familiarity with it. Clarity comes alongside the
resolution that applying the historical critical method to the Scriptures does not set out to destroy the
Hebrew Bible s importance. Rather it lends an unbiased avenue to read these religious texts in a
compelling way, bringing understanding in a multifaceted fashion as opposed to one dimensional,
conclusive outcomes.
Approaching the Scriptures from a Jewish viewpoint, as discussed in class, is well supported in
Brettler s book. Through his preparatory teaching on what the Hebrew Bible in itself is, and how one
should read it, a ground is laid. Explaining the difference between the Christian Bible and Hebrew
Bible is a vital inclusion. The Christian Bible passages, called the Old Testament, are read with the
belief that they lead into the New Testament. The Hebrew Bible does contain a New Testament, so one
would not read it within the same frame of reference.

Spain s Participation Of The European Union
Europe sits in the wake of the worst economic crisis the world has seen in years. After an economic
boom fueled by loose credit lending, many countries are left with massive amounts of sovereign debt
following the financial meltdown of 2008. The contagion sent waves of economic turbulence across
the European Union. Spain was dealing with a housing market bubble which burst while the EU dealt
with a widespread financial meltdown. With the economy in shambles and thousands of Spanish
citizens unemployed, many are questioning if Spain s membership in the European Union is actually
benefiting them. A majority 56% of spanish citizens believe that economic integration has weakened

Even decade after Franco s death, Spain was one of the poorest countries in Europe with a GDP at
25% which was far below the European average of around 40% (Ryan 2016). While the rest of the
world was rapidly evolving on a global scale, Spain lagged behind both structurally and
technologically.
Despite the oppressive regime, the European Community sought to help Spain. In 1967 negotiations
began with the Spanish government and they agreed to 60% reductions of import duties (comparable
to tariffs) on specified Spanish industrial goods (Lieberman 1995). This was reciprocated by Spain
lowering their import duties by 40% (p. 127). The EC even worked to foster economic relations with
Spain despite pressure from GATT which questioned such preferential trade agreements. This was the
beginning of Spain s expansion and integration. In 1986 the European Community offered Spain full
membership. Spain flourished as a member of the European Community. In Encyclopedia Of
Contemporary Spanish Culture Rodgers (1995) explains Between 1985 and 1995 Spain s foreign trade
virtually trebled [tripled], much of it being associated with the EC (p. 199). Industries raced to catch

currency was later integrated into the European Monetary System, further involving Spain in the
future of the EC.

  • 2. Hypocritical Ageism In The United States There are age restrictions on everything from buying lighters to purchasing alcoholic beverages. There are restrictions on watching movies and donating plasma. These restrictions are meant to, in a way, protect the younger people from making mistakes or being influences by things they don t fully understand or could be harmed by. One of the most debated restrictions could possibly be the Alcohol age restrictions. The legal age in the United States to consume and purchase alcohol is 21. This age cutoff is quite unneeded. It becomes more of a temptation and a danger than if the restriction were simply altered to a lower age. In the United States, when a person becomes 18, they are no longer considered to be a minor. The people are legally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There should be more government programs to educate and prevent people from driving intoxicated. The Texas Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse (TCADA) survey found out that by the time teenagers are seniors in high school, more than 80% of the teens admit to having some experience with alcohol. Texas is a zero tolerance state for underage drinking; it has some of the strictest penalties for underage drinking, and if 80% of the teenagers in Texas have had experiences with alcohol then it is apparent that the campaigns against underage drinking, and zero tolerance programs are not working. Teens are going to be tempted to drink alcohol at some point of their lives. So instead of having these 18 year old legal adults restricted, the government should spend their money to inform their people about safety when drinking instead of the severe prevention of teens drinking. ... • 3. Cybercrime And The Fight Against Cybercrime Introduction The modern society has experienced profound effects due to information systems which characterize almost all facets of individual and community life. Accordingly, a large amount of research has been dedicated to creating understanding about this phenomenon. Arguably, this may have overshadowed the debate on the ethical, social and legal issues that have accompanied the advent of information systems (Schell Martin, 2004). In particular, while many people are aware of cybercrime, very few understand its far reaching implications. For this reason, this discussion will focus on exploring cybercrime, with a special focus on its legal, ethical and social impacts. In doing so, it will also comment on the responsibilities that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, the state of affairs has made it even more complicated for law enforcement to keep up with the pace at which cybercrime is evolving. To begin with, computers and networks continue to become more vulnerable than ever. In a rush to reap the numerous benefits of the internet, individuals and organizations alike are overlooking some of the very important aspects that are supposed to enhance their security on the internet. Likewise, other issues like the virtual nature of this type of crimes, increase and ease in availability of attack tools, competing regulating priorities, and an inadequate worldwide legal landscape have intensified the complexity of the fight against cybercrime for law enforcement (Lovet, 2009). Finally, the growing complexity of cybercrime has showed the importance of constant review of the relevant legislation. This is well exemplified in the changes made in the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (Appazov, 2014). This piece of legislation is the only one that specifically handles the issue of cybercrime without dependence on the legislation crafted for other crimes. All in all, there is need for more work as it pertains to legislation in order to sufficiently cover crimes of this nature. Social Impacts The society is arguably the most affected by the advent of the internet, information systems, and most especially cybercrime. This is because it has broadened ... • 4. Confirmation Of Constitution Confirmation of a constitution is a strong move that makes the drafted document the law of the specified land. It should be supported by majority parties involved. As an editor of the New York newspaper, I do not support the ratification of the United States Constitution in 1788 because it tends to conquer and violate some necessary procedures. I believe reasons such as defects in the post revolution War articles of confederation and lack of central authority over foreign and domestic commerce that lead to the drafting of the document was not substantial enough initiate the documentation of the constitution. The material happens to lack fare terms that apply to all the parties, therefore, could not be signed or ratified into law. The document ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Women Of The United States Armed Forces Women are vital to the stability and efficiency of all branches of the United States armed forces. Although women s presence may be necessary to the operation of the military, their placement in combat positions would prove to be a devastating mistake. The body of a woman is not made to brave combat positions, and placing women into positions dominated by men could create a hostile working environment. The atmosphere of battle is already heated, and placing more problems into the equation could lead to the unraveling of military effectiveness as the country knows it. Consequently, women should continued to be excluded from combat oriented positions in order to preserve the superb work of the United States armed forces. Placing a woman into a field comprised mostly of men would upset a balance of unit cohesion and morale among their male counterparts. Unit cohesion result[s] from proximity of group members over time; social similarities or commonalities; success at joint tasks; and concerned, competent, honest leaders (Simons). This means that the individuals that comprise a combat unit must be able to relate to each other, and work together in positive and constructive ways in order to carry out dangerous, high risk missions. During combat operations, soldiers and their units are confined to small spaces for extended periods of time. The addition of women into this close quartered group would add romantic and sexual elements that can cause competition, jealousy, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. A Career In Physical Therapy Honors anatomy and physiology medical career reflection paper By: Tiarra sorey For the medical career project I decided to do physical therapy, physical therapy is the restoration of movement and physical function impaired or threatened by disease, injury, or disability. Physical therapists determine a plan for rehabilitation for patients which may include stretching, strength training, exercises and physical manipulation. There has been a significant increase in the demand for physical therapists, the employment of physical therapists is projected to grow 34% between 2014 and 2024. Physical therapy is a very excellent career and has become more intriguing to me during this project and helped me confirm what I want to do in the future even more. Physical therapy wasn t the first career in the medical field ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Completing this project influenced my aspiration to become a physical therapist because it showed me how perfect this career would be for me, it showed me that being a physical therapist wouldn t even feel like work because I would enjoy the daily tasks and challenges such as giving motivation to patients and making them feel stronger and more confident in themselves. During the research of the project I read articles on other physical therapists such as Timothy DiFrancesco, former PT for the Los angeles lakers and also Emily Beyer, the team PT for the Minnesota Lynx, they kept saying how challenging it can be on a daily basis, whether it was trying to get athletes to work up to their limit or just simply trying to get the patients to trust them. Reading those articles made me tell myself that being a physical therapist was clearly challenging which is what I like, I believe that because physical therapy can be such a complex job it really influenced me to pursue a career in that ... Although several fans in my sample share her sentiment that Cash is similar to a member of their family Patsy places him in even higher esteem than do other fans. I isolate this example in the introduction to this chapter because of its mention that Johnny Cash, for Patsy, is not a god, but, as she says, he s pretty much the next thing to it. Fandom as religion literature maintains a tendency to bridge the gap between Patsy and God, by referring to the celebrity as a mediator or redeemer figure, in some cases, literally, and in others it is a metaphorical rendering. It is accurate to write the celebrity performs certain mediation for the fan; celebrities, through their image, mediate fans hopes and desires, but also more mundane ways fans interpret their world, such as the examples illustrated in Chapter 4. For Fandom as religion scholars, however, celebrities such as Elvis Presley and Cliff Richards mediate more sacred, rather than quotidian, concerns. In Fandom as religion literature, the sacred is set apart and protected from everyday banality, and through universe maintenance, such as the shrine building described by Doss in the chapter Saint Elvis, places the celebrity on a sacred pedestal. Other than such connotation, the celebrity as sacred figure is a poorly defined entity in Fandom as Religion literature (see Doss 1999; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Essay On Charles Lindbergh Charles Lindbergh (commonly known for the Lindbergh Effect) was one of, if not the, most important celebrity in aviation for growth of the industry. Lindbergh single handedly impacted the minds of millions of people with respect to aviation, starting from it being viewed as dangerous and stupid, to it being glamorous and helpful, and then growing to it being completely relied upon in today s society. Aviation would not be where it is at today without the help of this young man. This is due to him being the first to make a solo flight across the Atlantic, taking a tour of the United States via his plane, and by also helping to grow airlines in the United States. Whilst performing as a barnstormer, Charles learned how to fly by essentially just teaching himself. He learned the fundamentals of flying, and was said to have been a great pilot because he just had the instinct for it, something that was very rare at this point in time. Lindbergh quit being a barnstormer so that he could go to the school of flying through the United States Navy. Within a year he had graduated, being the first in his class. This showed that he had great promise in aviation, but instead of actually joining the Navy, he decided to become a pilot of the United States Airmail. Being an airmail pilot was actually still very dangerous at this time, and had a high death rate. Lindbergh however did not stay an airmail pilot for very long, and decided he was going to take up the challenge of flying over the Atlantic with no stops, something no one had accomplished yet. Raymond Orteig, a hotel owner, set a prize of $25,000 (known as the Orteig Prize) to the first person (or people) to fly across the Atlantic, from New York to Paris, without making any stops. Many people had attempted this, including a team led by a French pilot known as René Fonck, an explorer named Richard E. Byrd, and a team that included Clarence Chamberlin and Bert Acosta. The digestive system is what absorbs and breaks down the food and drinks that were eaten. The digestive organs break down food in two ways, mechanical digestion and chemical digestion. In mechanical digestion, the processes starts from the mouth to the stomach. During this process the food gets broken into smaller sizes. Then from there chemical digestions begins to occur. Chemical digestion is when many different enzymes break down the molecules so that they can be absorbed. Chemical digestion begins in the mouth and continues in the intestines. The chyme gets mixed with highly acidic gastric juice and strong digestive enzymes in the stomach. This is to prepare the chyme for the small intestine. There are hormones like gastine and molin that help move the chyme and pump gastric juice. The chyme then goes to the first part of the small intestine called the duodenum. The small intestines have three parts which are the duodenum, jejunum, and the ileum. The small intestines break down the chyme by enzymes from the pancreas and bile. The pancreas produces insulin which controls metabolism in the blood and enzymes that break down fats, carbohydrates, and protein. Then the gallbladder releases the bile it stores into the duodenum to absorb fats. The duodenum is mostly the continuous breakdown of the chyme while the jejunum and ileum absorb the nutrients. All the nutrients get absorbed from the foods (vitamins, proteins, minerals, fats, and carbohydrates) that travel into the bloodstream throughout the body. This is the third main function called absorption. The liver absorbs all the nutrients from the small intestines. Another thing that the liver does is it makes chemicals from the nutrients it absorbs that the body needs. It also breaks down poisons and drugs in the body. • 11. Juxtaposition In The Destructors There are two types of fiction, literary and commercial. Because the former is more intricate, the literary approach is often taken while writing meaningful short fiction meant to convey a deeper truth. Therefore, in order for a short story to be thought provoking, it must be of the literary variety, which contains complex structure, round characters, and themes that are evident through symbolic elements within the story. This can best be shown through the juxtaposition and comparison of the commercial story, The Most Dangerous Game, against the literary story, The Destructors. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, a symbolic structure is necessary in creating an atmosphere of thought inside the reader, as it will allow for deeper analytical exploration of the story as a whole. The structure of a story can act as a symbol and provide a portrayal of the plot, as seen prominently within The Destructors, since the story is formatted in an interesting way that works to parallel the events occurring. The structure is interesting, as there are four sections, all with little or no transition between them. Important information about the context of the time of day is purposely left out by Greene, the author, to symbolize the disjointedness of the boys lives. This is shown explicitly in the transition, or lack thereof, from section one to two. Section two begins after a conversation between the boys has ended, and section 1 skips to the beginning of the next day. Here, the structure purposely caused the reader to jump ahead in time and miss the events that take place in between the omitted periods of time. The reader does not get to know what is occurring there. By generating the feeling of missed time, the structure acts to symbolize the literal discombobulation within the boys lives, and how the Blitz stripped them of their previous sense of normality in day to day life. The disconnectedness of the formation of the story mirrors the physical acts of destruction depicted in the story, since the structure itself is unruly. When the reader compares this story to the commercial story The Most Dangerous Game, it is apparent that it is more thought out, as the structure of The Most Dangerous Game is ordinary, and does not convey any larger meaning about the story as a whole. It contains dialogue and description, however this is to further the plot instead of illustrating other intricate ideas. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The conflict only grew in strength and publicity until it landed at the Supreme Court in the now legendary case of Roe v. Wade. When the legal battle was over, women were granted the right to abortion in the second trimester, a right that continues to cause conflict 40 years later. The case ran from 1971 1973 and it got a heated debate started across the United States. The topic of abortion had always been debated heavily but Roe v. • 27. Decision Making Process At Southwest Airlines Part E: Cost, Profit, and Investment Center Decision making The decision making process at Southwest Airlines is decentralized whereby the decision making authority is delegated to lower level managers and employees. This is based on the idea that managers at the lower level have a better understanding of local factors and conditions hence are better positioned to make decisions than the senior management. The airline understands the need for empowering employees and the impact this empowerment has on the company. For instance, when the airline wanted to refurbish its employee s uniform, instead of hiring someone outside the company, the airline invited all employees who had suggestions about the new uniform to apply. The employees who were selected for this process met every two weeks to discuss the design of the new uniforms (Thomas, 2016). For Southwest Airlines, incorporating employee input in the decision making process creates a more authentic brand. For instance, the involvement of employees in the uniform design made the employees take pride in being part of the airline. The decentralized decision making approach makes it possible for Southwest Airlines to bring employees from different departments and various cities to interact with each other and build a cohesive workplace. In addition, employee involvement in the decision making process at the company makes employees to feel more motivated and loyal to the company. Performance evaluation Southwest Airlines uses ... Identity and Women Issues in Pour it up by Rihanna No matter how much people may talk about its artistic merit, it nonetheless objectifies and therefore demeans women by casting them in the mould of whore. (Cox) The present statement is what Laura Cox, journalist at the Daily Mail, summarizes of Pour it up , the music video released in 2013 by Rihanna to launch her new song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehcVomMexkY). The video is constructed on an extreme usage of female s bodies and it poorly represents the image of women expressed today by mainstream media channels. Moreover, the singer fluctuates her body; she portrays pole dancers, strippers and some dance moves including twerking , a particular alluring hip style of dancing. (Cox) Currently, the music video has been watched by millions of people and it questioned whether Rihanna could still be considered a role model to her millions of young and impressionable fans. In this paper, I will carefully analyze the video s content by correlating the messages sent by the images to some media theories starting from the cultural industry concept and the idea of the commodity feticism by Adorno and Hockheimer. Then, I will comment on the reactions given by the public and various media outlets. Firstly, Rihanna is a Barbadian singer of twenty five years old and she is the nation s first artist to win a Grammy Award. When she was sixteen, she moved to the United States and she made her debut in 2005. The official music video for Pour It Up was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Ion Euripides In Ion Euripides describes a realistic plot that matches nowadays events as well. He focuses on the vicissitudes of human life that lead the characters to the brink of ruin, and that raise on top of happiness at the same time. The life full of ups and downs is depicted in the example of Creusa s life story. In Ion there are scenes that are composed of big fear, sincere repentance, strong jealousy, and pure love of Creusa. When young and innocent Creusa has been deceived by Apollo, she has to leave her newborn child on his fate under the big fear of being perceived as disgraced daughter of the king Erechtheus. What has happened to her is the biggest secret that she cannot tell anyone. This strong fear makes Creusa conceal the birth of her first baby, and her liaison with Apollo. Having no will for that Creusa encumbers herself with that burden but stays faithful wife of Xuthus who she will be espoused to after that event (Ion, 9 17, 58 62). The second significant Creusa s emotion is her sincere repentance. Creusa consciously admits her wrong decision of leaving the helpless child, and asks for forgiveness. Creusa considers her inability to have children as her punishment for leaving that child alone in the cave. Her deep rooted feeling of guiltiness never ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both articles make use of conventions such as a descriptive opening paragraph, graphics and omission, to allow the journalists to present their ideas and opinions effectively to the reader. A common idea evident in both texts relate to children and society; the first article conveniently stating that if only we more willing to help and were less engrossed in our own lives, a young boy would ve been reluctant to see the next day. The other article deals with a young girl, who has been deprived of a normal childhood through the accessorisation of her falsified childhood. These ideas, together ... In the second article, The Ugly Truth about Beauty Julie Hosking compares the lives of two girls, showing two extremes a little Somalian girl and American girl. The contrast between these girls displays how invigorating the little American princesses childhood is, alternatively how depressing the little Somalian girl s childhood is. The first one lives in a dustbowl, nothing between her and unforgiving sky. Her clothes are torn and dirty, her feet rough and bare. The second lives in a four bedroom house surrounded by trophies. Her clothes are covered in feathers and sequins, manicured feet ensconced in silver heels . The descriptive comparison between the two girls in the opening paragraph entices the reader and notes how the African child is deprived of her childhood because of hunger and poverty and how deceptive the other little girl s childhood is through the glamorisation and vicarious motives of her mother. • 31. Introduction Of A Foreign Species Biodiversity Introduction For once in history, the introduction of a foreign species has had paramount importance throughout their evolution for many terrestrial ecosystems. Apis Mellifera also commonly known as the Western Honey bee, is a vital component to global biodiversity. The honey bee provides ecosystem services of considerable ecological significance for the reproduction of plants and for the pollination of many economically important crops. Although the place of origin of Apis Mellifera is unclear, North America was introduced to the Western Honey bee around 1622 by European colonists (Weber, E. 2012). Amongst the eight species in the genus Apis, Apis Mellifera is the most widely valued honey bee in the United States(citation). Apis Mellifera live in nests, called a hive, and typically house 40,00 bees, which are divided into three different types of adult bees: Queen, Worker, Drone(Winston, M. L., 1987). Majority of the bees living in the beehive are Worker bees that provide majority of the fundamental processes needed to sustain the beehive. Honey bees consume processed nectar (honey) and pollen (bee bread) which are both found in Angiosperms (flowering plants). Nectar, which bees convert to honey serves as a primary source of carbohydrates (Winston, M. L., 1987). This provides honey bees energy for flight and product for colony maintenance. Honey bees will die within a few days if they do not have a surplus abundance of honey (Winston, M. L., 1987). Pollen is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, the United States did not enter the Industrial Age smoothly, rather it took years to understand the complexities of industry and would primarily be located within the northern region of the country. United States law had not yet been able to wrangle these new opportunities and resulted in companies taking advantage of desperate workers who were in need of a job. According to the Brookline Public Schools website (PSBMA) Website Runkle School, para.3) is a K 8 school that has about 560 students. The Runkle School is also a host to many Spanish English Language Learner students as well as the Reaching Independence through Structured Education program for children on the autistic spectrum. Furthermore, I observed an author and illustrator visit to first and second graders at the Martin Sleeper Library at the John D. Runkle School that derived from collaboration between Ms. Gallo Toth and a local independent bookstore. Moreover, I increased my understanding of how a school library teacher employs collaboration and flexibility to administer the school library program. The culmination of my observations of Ms. Gallo Toth highlighted how school library teachers have many roles within the school such as instruction, collaboration, promoting literacy, and as the school library program administrator. • 35. Altruistic And Of Altruistic Acts Introduction In this section, I will deliver my idea on when people tend to be altruistic and who they are prone to act on it. I make the assumption that the reason why someone would be altruistic would be something that varies upon the individual, and the event they are altruistic, I hold it as a multidimensional explanation in answering why. I think this because I can see all these models having partial truth in the reality of how it is, I am sure that one person might help another due to empathy, and that another might do it so they get the attention of their possible sexual partner, etc. Every model can be correct depending on the person, and the event. I include event rather than solely person, because although a person might often choose to be altruistic in many events for a particular reason, this same reason doesn t necessarily have to be the case for every event they are altruistic. However, my topic deals with my belief that who, and when altruistic acts are likely to be executed. My premises for this idea are that when and who people are altruistic with is something that is less fluid, than a multidimensional theory on why altruism exists, enough so that it doesn t become an absolute principle, but a psychological tendency. This is my rough theoretical model for a psychological tendency in altruism that I believe to be constantly realizing. • 38. The Hebrew Bible, By Marc Zvi Brettler How To Read The Jewish Bible, authored by Biblical scholar, and professor, Marc Zvi Brettler, is an enlightening text, guiding people towards studying the Hebrew Scriptures purposefully. Brettler (2005) reveals his book provides a response to the frustration many readers hold towards the Hebrew Bible, with the conventional tendency of filtering it through the lens of present day culture. Generally, he argues, as a result, this leads one to misconstrue passages or arrive at the definitive conclusion the Bible holds no relevant value within our contemporary era and therefore, should collect dust. Brettler s goal of guiding readers toward an appreciation and understanding of the purpose in utilizing the historical critical study practice is well laid out as a foundation to the book. By prioritizing the first four chapters as he did, Brettler sets the tone of how one should survey the Scriptures for the greatest illumination. From the start, he outlines what the historical critical method is in theory and practice, which dispels the assumption every reader holds a familiarity with it. Clarity comes alongside the resolution that applying the historical critical method to the Scriptures does not set out to destroy the Hebrew Bible s importance. Rather it lends an unbiased avenue to read these religious texts in a compelling way, bringing understanding in a multifaceted fashion as opposed to one dimensional, conclusive outcomes. Approaching the Scriptures from a Jewish viewpoint, as discussed in class, is well supported in Brettler s book. Through his preparatory teaching on what the Hebrew Bible in itself is, and how one should read it, a ground is laid. Explaining the difference between the Christian Bible and Hebrew Bible is a vital inclusion. The Christian Bible passages, called the Old Testament, are read with the belief that they lead into the New Testament. The Hebrew Bible does contain a New Testament, so one would not read it within the same frame of reference. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While the rest of the world was rapidly evolving on a global scale, Spain lagged behind both structurally and technologically. Despite the oppressive regime, the European Community sought to help Spain. In 1967 negotiations began with the Spanish government and they agreed to 60% reductions of import duties (comparable to tariffs) on specified Spanish industrial goods (Lieberman 1995). This was reciprocated by Spain lowering their import duties by 40% (p. 127). The EC even worked to foster economic relations with Spain despite pressure from GATT which questioned such preferential trade agreements. This was the beginning of Spain s expansion and integration. In 1986 the European Community offered Spain full membership. Spain flourished as a member of the European Community. In Encyclopedia Of Contemporary Spanish Culture Rodgers (1995) explains Between 1985 and 1995 Spain s foreign trade virtually trebled [tripled], much of it being associated with the EC (p. 199).
