The Spirit Club Essay
1 What s at stake for the key parties, including those that may disagree with you? What is important to
them? What does the target value and why?
I see how these events transpire as a character test. Who am I and what do I stand for? My friends, my
relationships and my future are directly correlated to the events that will occur. Whats important to me
is that I do what s right strictly based on my values.
The Spirit Club s value surpasses any individual and the implications of Matt s actions could be
detrimental to the club. First and foremost, our reputation as a reputable club is at stake. The Spirit
Club could potentially be in a position where our whole structure has to change to a more bureaucratic
form all the while being under heavy over site of administration. I fear that the club chemistry would
hurt if this occurred.
Who Matt is and his legacy could change in a heartbeat depending on what he did with the shirt
profits. If he truly stole the money, then it shows he never valued spirit club as much as he valued his
own personal gain and failed to see how they are intertwined. Personally, I will no longer see him as a
friend merely an example of poor leadership as many others will.
I can only wonder if Laura was in on this with Matt and that s why she was so forward in bringing it
up to Matt. Her friendship with Matt may have resulted in a blind spot for unethical behavior. If this is
true my friendship and many others with her is likely over and so is

The Five Stages In The Development Of Human Growth And...
While reading through Chapter 1, there were a lot of eye openers. While reading, the realization of
important factors that determines what kind of adult a child will be. Two developments of human
growth are Continuous and Discontinuous. Continuous Development is the process in which there is
gradual improvement through systematic exercise, and Discontinuous Development is based off the
stepping stones of infant through adulthood human growth (Woolfolk Perry, 2015). These are
characterized by the qualitative differences in behavior. As children grow from prenatal, ages 0 to 2
years old, to becoming an adolescence, 11 and above, they can learn and better understand what is
going on in the world around them, which in turn teaches a life lesson. There are 5 stages in the
development of life for a human. The five stages are prenatal (conception to birth), infancy (birth to 2
years), early childhood (ages 2 to 6), middle childhood (ages six to eleven), and adolescence (11 and
up). Throughout each stage, there are new developments that take place in a child s life. Many factors
go into growth development and how a child will turn out as an adult, including but not limited to,
social skills, sociodemographic, ethnicity and culture, adoption or biological, protection and risk,
health, corporal punishment, environmental, parental/sibling relationships, risk taking, and self
regulation (Shriver, 2014). As a parent, I never realized how many factors that there are, yet my family

Why Competitive Sports Are Good For Children
Not everyone believes competitive sports are good for kids. Some people believe competitive sports
are harmful to kids. Competitive sports are good because they improve overall health, teach life
lessons, and positively impact kids lives.
The first reason competitive sports are good is they improve everyone s health. Mango thinks that
exercise and physical fitness is a good thing in our country where obesity is a problem. Davis thinks it
will burn calories and motivates kids to eat healthier foods. According to O Connor obesity would
plunge by 26% if kids played on two sports teams per year.
The second reason competitive sports are good is when kids play sports they can learn life lessons.
Mango thinks that creating and setting goals

Gilded Age During The Gilded Age
1880 1928 The Gilded Age in America ranges from 1880 to 1928 and can be understood simply by
acknowledging that the wealthy dominated the poor in all aspects of life. American history during the
Gilded Age can be further examined particularly in two ways, socially and economically. Establishing
the understanding and connection between protection of the people, the type of government being
practiced, and the concept of efficiency will allow for an educated assessment of this time and will
highlight policies and practices that America should be looking at to succeed as it moves forward. At
this time, there was little to no protection of people that were not wealthy business men such as
Andrew Carnegie and William Graham Sumner who both make cases in favor of social Darwinism.
Business men of this time believed that they were wiser than the poor and that if the workers
diligently tried, they could be rich as well(PS26). This was not a valid way to look at how society was
going because of unsafe working conditions and low wages. Large scale business owners held a tight
rein on workers, which in turn led to events like the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire in 1911 where nearly 150
women were killed because they were trapped in a burning building. These women were unable to
leave their workroom because the business owners had locked them in out of fear that the women may
take too long of a break, or steal a shirt they were working on if they had any freedoms in the
workplace. The

Mandatory Bargaining Definition
According to Labor Relations (1958) mandatory subject of bargaining is noted by the Supreme Court
that the area of mandatory collective bargaining includes subjects relating to wages, hours, and other
terms and conditions of employment. Other subjects such as overtime pay, shift differentials, holiday
pay, pensions, profit sharing plans, rental of company houses, grievance procedures, sick leave, work
rules, seniority and promotion, compulsory retirement age, health care benefits, and management
rights clauses are examples of mandatory subjects of bargaining. The parties can insist on the adoption
of their position on a subject within the mandatory bargaining area as a condition to acceptance of a
union contract. Certain terms and conditions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The duty is to bargain, not necessarily to reach agreement. However, an employer cannot make
changes in mandatory subjects for bargaining without first providing the union with an opportunity to
bargain.Issues that have become mandatory subjects for bargaining have been evolving since the
NLRA was passed. The US Supreme Court has identified two criteria for determining whether or not
an issue represents a mandatory subject for bargaining: 1. Whether it is plainly germane to the
working environment : and 2. Not among those managerial decisions which lie at the core of
entrepreneurial control. The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) as well as the federal courts
have substantial discretion in determining whether or not a particular issue constitutes a mandatory
subject for bargaining (Petersen Boller,

Digital Modulation Techniques For Modern Communication...
ABSTRACT
This project describes the different types of digital modulation techniques that are implemented in
modern communication systems. Currently most of the wireless transmission and radio
communication systems adapts digital modulation techniques because of its ability to provide high
information capacity, better data encryption, greater noise immunity and easier multiplexing of
different forms of inputs/information such as sound, video etc. All the experiments and data collected
are obtained using software called Simulink. Digital modulation techniques have the ability to convey
more information in the same channel than analog modulation techniques this also implies that same
amount of data can be stored in less space. The basic techniques which include Amplitude shift
keying, Phase Shift keying, Frequency Shift keying and Quadrature Phase shift keying have been
demonstrated by creating a model using the blocks and channels available in the Simulink library. The
signal used in all of the experiments which is to be transmitted is a randomly generated sequence of
bits and the carrier signal used is a high frequency sinusoidal signal. All of these experiments vary a
characteristic (frequency, amplitude and phase) of the carrier sinusoid to represent the signal that is to
be transmitted. A separate communication system has been developed which accepts sound as input
signal which is digitally modulated and the corresponding output is obtained accordingly.

Mid-Life Crisis Narrative
I watched another man having a mid life crisis, pull out of the Novak car dealership across the street in
a silver convertible. My uncle ran that dealership. I scanned my dad s car lot; the cars were much older
with red numbers written on the windshields, and they were Hondas rather than BMWs. Dad was
having an intense phone call in the dimly lit back office. From where I sat at the desk, I could hear
snippets of the conversation that filtered through the gap through the door.
How long... here? Dad said.
I had no homework, so I swiveled around on my chair, and watched my dad bite his nails as he talked.
No ... get the money... just... Dad caught my eye, and gave me a look that made me turn around again.
Then I heard the door click shut behind me.

Dad smirked at him. Shall we eat?
Uncle James gave a sharp nod, and pulled an office chair over. Mum this looks amazing.
You boys make me feel like I m Gordon Ramsey or something, Nana giggled.
I grabbed a sandwich and started to eat.
Isn t this nice? We never have lunch together anymore. Dennis what s new with you? Nana asked.
I m working on a big deal, Dad said between bites.
I stopped chewing.
Is it going to cost me money? Uncle James asked.
No. I don t need your help.
Well don t send a bill to me later. I won t pay it this time, Uncle James said.
I m fine. This deal is foolproof, Dad said, wiping his fingers on his jeans.
Nothing in business is foolproof, Dennis, Uncle James said.
This is. And it s going to turn everything around for me. Just you wait.

The Ripple Effect By Mrs. Jones
The Ripple effect, the ripple effect is about one good deed rippling out and making other good deeds.
That is basically what this is, when you think about it it is actually true. In the story there are so many
examples of a small action making a big change. One of those actions are when Mrs. Jones doesn t
call the cops and instead takes Roger back to her house. This is like the ripple effect because if she
called the police and got taken in then he wouldn t be given a change, Roger knows that he can do
good but if he got taken to jail then he would think that he was bad because everyone is saying he is
bad but instead Mrs.Jones gave him a chance and it helped him realize that he shouldn t do bad deeds
and then maybe roger can teach other people

Mount Everest.
Scaling up Mount Everest is deadly in many ways. Climbing up the mountain can damage you, as well
as the mountain itself. While climbing up the mountain you can encounter high winds, perilous
storms, low oxygen levels, and worst case scenario, death. Climbing the mountain is not something
you should take lightly, it can also harm the mountain itself. Many climbers have previously attempted

Who Shot John F. Kennedy Essay
Who Shot John F. Kennedy
On November 22nd, 1963 America lost its innocence. It also perhaps lost its trust, trust in the
American Government. In a gallop pole in 1960, 89% of the American population trusted the
government. Since then it has dropped to less than to . That means that since the early 1960 s over
70% of the population lost its trust in the Federal Government. While there may be different reasons
why many people lost their trust, the most major one was probably the assassination and investigation
of the assassination of John F. Kennedy. In 1963 and 1964 the US government told the American
public about what happened that fateful day in Dallas Texas. They said that one crazy man, Lee

John Kennedy had several siblings also, three brothers, and 5 sisters. His two brothers Robert, and
Edward are probably the most famous. When it came time for JFK to get into politics, Papa Joe
wanted his son to get into the White House. It is reported that he contacted his friends in organized
crime to help him to get his son elected. One of these crime bosses, Sam Giancanna of Chicago
claimed that he was responsible for getting Kennedy the presidency by stuffing the ballot box, and
sinking the 10,000 votes for Nixon into the bottom of Lake Michigan. Needless to say organized
crime felt as though the Kennedy s owed a debt. But John Kennedy, unaware of this debt that he owed
decided that along with his brother Robert, the attorney general, he would fight organized crime, and
try to bring an end to it. The mob was not happy with this action. Someone that they had helped had
turned against them. Papa Joe appealed to his son, to try to get him to lay off, but to no avail. The
moffia was disappointed with the Kennedy s, and needed to do something about their problem. In
1955 a revolutionary leader came to power in Cuba. His name was Fediel Castro. Castro kicked out
the gambling crime bosses out of Cuba, angering those in the US. Castro wanted to be friends with a

Empowerment In Kate Chopin s The Awakening
Questioning Women s Equal Rights led to an uproar during the 1800 s, within the literary world the re
establishment of such era was exposed, through Kate Chopin s The Awakening (1899). The
protagonist, Edna Pointillier was beared in mind as selfish: as she rejected domesticity in favor of her
own fulfillment (Walker 5). In the course of identifying a white middle class woman, the United
States, disseminated through novels, religious writings, and advice books. Proclaimg to be a true

abandoning the role of a wife or mother was an outrage. Edna dispenses societal beliefs of allegiance

Fences Heroism Essay
In the Drama based book Fences, August Wilson illustrates the tragic heroism of Troy Maxson as Troy
faces troubling conflicts up to the point of his death. Throughout the play, his actions end up being
misinterpreted or show an impure side to him, causing for his wife Rose and his son Cory to resent
him. This is illustrated many times in the play, first through the refusal to allow Cory to play football,
second through the use of his brother s war reparations in order to buy his house, and third through the
affair that he has with Alberta.
Throughout the play, Troy s son Cory is very interested in the idea of playing football. However, his
father is heavily against this and demands that he quit the team. Cory is forced to quit the team and ...

Out on the job he works, at home he rests, and in between those two he usually hangs out with Bono
or goes on small escapades, where he meets Alberta. Alberta is a women who Rose has no knowledge
of throughout the play. The reason for this is that Troy keeps the secret of this affair to himself and
Bono. However, as the story nears its end, Troy is forced to tell Rose that he is having a child, that of
the women who he s been seeing. Rose is enraged by this sudden revelation, and when the turn of
events leads to Alberta s death in childbirth, Rose accepts the responsibility of raising the new child,
but proclaims to Troy that he is now a womanless man.
Altogether, these events lead to the impression of Troy being a tragic hero. Although he had good
intentions with some of his actions, the prominent negatives are what stick to the minds of his family.
Up to his death, he is looked at with pity, but seen as a man who was almost too bad of a person. After
his death however, Rose explains to Cory that although Troy wasn t the best with keeping his family
happy, he did what he could in order to try and prevent future disappointment. They grieve; he is
ultimately the tragic hero that represents this story and is now seen by his family in a different

Peter The Great s Impact On Russia With St. Petersburg
Much like Tiberius, Peter the Great had an overall auspicious impact on Russia with St. Petersburg.
During the late seventeenth century, he was a Russian czar both narcissistic and thirsty for power.
Mostly because of his reforms, Peter is known to have a positive effect on Russia, though it is
debatable. Throughout his reign and life, Peter continued struggling just to maintain power in Europe.
His reign marks a dramatic shift in the development and goal of Russia. Peter took Russia into the
European world, westernizing it, and leading him to create what is known as the the window to the
west for Russia. He did this by adopting European customs, administrative systems, architecture, and
many other ideas from Europe. He mainly focused on the navy and new technology advances Russia
could use (Whisenhunt 329). Usually overlooked, Peter the Great was also able to create St.
Petersburg, contributing to his positive effect on Russia. St. Petersburg made Russia a major European

Because more carbon dioxide is being put into the air, there is more absorption by the atmosphere and
more reflection back to the surface, so the surface is getting warmer. Now, what actions are resulting
in the expansion of the greenhouse effect?
Two main causes are burning fossil fuels and driving our cars. According to a NASA earth observatory
web page, fossil fuel burning (coal, oil and gas) releases about 6 billion metric tons per year. On the
EPA web site, it is stated that most of the emissions of greenhouse gases, about 82%, are from burning
fossil fuels to generate electricity and power our cars. As I said before, driving our cars also is a large
cause. For example, Ecobridge states that Twenty percent of U.S. carbon dioxide emissions comes
from the burning of gasoline in internal combustion engines of cars and light trucks. So a fair amount
of the emissions is from driving your car.
Deforestation, the cutting and burning of a forest, also increases the amount of carbon dioxide into the
atmosphere. A NASA page says that when a forest is cut and burned to establish cropland and
pastures, the carbon that was stored in the tree trunks (wood is about 50% carbon) joins with oxygen
and is released into the atmosphere as CO2. CO2, is, of

Leadership From A Natural Sciences Standpoint
There have been many studies and papers written about leadership by looking at all sorts of
perspectives. More recently, researchers have started to look at the keys to leadership from a natural
sciences standpoint. The world is starting to understand that our views of leadership in organizations
have to be consistent with the nature of the world outside. Richard Wielkiewicz and Stephen Stelzner
go so far to say that the key to effective leadership is by looking at and having a fair representation of
all perspectives, that includes an environmental perspective. They not only give assertions about
leadership as a whole, but they also give criteria for looking at leadership from an ecological
standpoint as to better understand it.
In the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A third assertion says organizations are more adaptive when diversity of input is present. This is an
easy statement to understand. If people with different backgrounds give input, there will be a wider
range of thoughts and ideas. If an organization takes these diverse perspectives into account, they will
be better able to adapt to changing thoughts and societal norms. The final assertion given is related to
Wheatley s notion of new and old science. Wheatley suggests that old science is a mechanistic view
that is no longer relatable and that her idea of new science is one that needs to be followed (Wheatley,
2006, pg. 15). On the other hand, Wielkiewicz and Stelzner say that instead of just rejecting old
science, there should be a tension between the two approaches. One needs to find a resolution between
the traditional industrial approach and the lesser known neglected ecological approach .
There are four ecological principles than can help explain organizational leadership. They are
interdependence, open systems and feedback loops, the cycling of resources, and adaptation. By
looking at each principle, one can relate it back to their organization and hopefully be able to integrate
the things learned with previous notions in order to make leadership more efficient. While it is an
interesting idea to use scientific

Young adult literature provides a guidance for young people during their nature and evolution towards
adulthood. Their themes help them deal with problems internally and externally with the people
around them. Their purpose is to push the main character outside of what is comfortable to them and
be honest with who they are and what is the problem they are facing at a young age. The book chosen
for a example of young adult literature is growing up in mississippi by Anne Moody, this is a historical

black males were able to do. As a young girl the she would have never even gotten a chance to prove
she was capable of doing the job because of the times then. Back then they thought a girl could never
last being in a steel factory because of how labor intensive it was. And also it was thought that a girl
could not survive being in the factory because steel is very poor to machine, meaning it is difficult to
remove material from a sample. What that means steel has to be molded into shapes and as a result
workers are faced with extremely high temperatures. Because of this it was deemed too much for a
girl to handle, there are fewer places to work and it is especially harder if that girl was colored. In

as a slave for 20 years before he became a free man. Along the way, he managed to learn how to read
and write. In 1845, Douglas published his autobiography The Narrative of the Life of Frederick
Douglas, an American Slave. In the novel, he writes down everything he experienced from the time he
was a little baby to the time he became a free black man living in New Bedford, Massachusetts. The
genre of Douglas s autobiography is a slave narrative and as a slave narrative, this novel is great at
accomplishing the main purposes that the genre typically includes. One of the ... Show more content

Throughout his autobiography, Douglas writes about his experiences with his masters and the
conditions in which he lived. When he was young, he lived with a master who was not a humane
slaveholder (Douglas, 17). He seem[ed] to take great pleasure in whipping a slave and would whip
upon her naked back until she was covered in blood (Douglas, 17). It was horrifying for Frederick to
hear the agonizing screams of his fellow slaves being whipped every night. When he got older, he
moved to Baltimore to live with his new master, Mr. Auld. While he was there, he was subjected to see
his master tie up a lame young woman, and whip her with a heavy cowskin (Douglas, 57). This
horrific punishment would last four to five hours. Many of the slaves were exposed to cruel

the chrysanthemums Essay
The Chrysanthemums by John Steinbeck
The short story The Chrysanthemums shows how extraordinarily forward thinking the author, John
Steinbeck, was in his understanding of the pressures that women dealt with in his time. Through the
exploration and illustration of women s emotions, Steinbeck gives us a view into the struggle of
women in the early 20th century to find a place for themselves in society as well as establishing their
own sexuality(Charters, 502).
The story starts out with the description of a grey fog over the place where the story is set. The
significance of this is to set the mood of the story. It also is a possible representation of how the main

The world that she lives in is a man s world, and her husband is a man s man and this is illustrated in
his actions when talking to the men in suits They smoked cigarettes and studied the machine as they
talked . This idea of it being a man s world is a recurring theme in the story, another example of which
is Henry s attitude towards Elisa and the way he talks to her, like he is talking to someone beneath him
I ll get out the car. You can put on your coat while I m starting (The Chrysanthemums, 6).
Steinbeck gives us a clear understanding that Elisa isn t very happy with her position in life, this is
obvious when talking to the repairman, she says I wish women could do such things symbolizing her
discontent with not just her role but women s roles in society. And the fact that she argued over the
fact that women wouldn t like the repairman s work shows that she is willing to stand up for herself
and her beliefs. When Elisa is talking to the man about what it feels like when the plants bud, and tells
him about the stars and then when she reached out for his leg, and then was ashamed, this is her way
for expressing her sexual frustration. The fact that she felt ashamed shows that she saw sex and
anything of relation to it as a sin, even though it is something that she wanted. This is marked by the
fact that after the repairman left she

Comparing Cheuse And Separate Way
Both, And of Clay Are We Created by Isabel Allende and Separate ways have characteristics that
make them agree with the essay by Alan Cheuse and the history of the short story, as well as fall right
along with the style of literature during that time period in the history of their country s literature.
In The Alan Cheuse essay he begins by giving us the origin of the modern day short story. Although
the exact day is not known, we can trace the origins of the modern day short story to the 19th century.
Edgard Allan Poe began by creating fictional stories that coincided with the growing popularity of
entertainment, unlike the traditional short stories that were folk tales who ended bringing light to a
moral dilemma or history of the world and gods (Cheuse 25). According to Alan Cheuse, The modern

Domestic Violence In Homeless Families
Past and current research indicate that many families do become homeless as a result of domestic
violence. According to the Senate Judiciary committee, citing a report prepared by the Ford
Foundation, 50 percent of all homeless women and children in this country are fleeing domestic
violence. (Zorza p. 421). Families in homelessness and victims of domestic violence struggle with
adhering to financial pressures and as a result struggle with financial hardships. Families that are
victims of domestic violence are challenged with paying their basic bills such as rent, electricity,
water, etc. Many victims of domestic violence have been fully dependent on the abuser making it
difficult for them to leave their home. Many victims of domestic violence never escape their situation
because they don t have the means too. Some women choose to stay and manage the violence. They
regard this as a safer option than to lose everything, propelling themselves and their children into
homelessness and more poverty. (Slabbert p. 4). Research conducted show that poverty and financial
struggles is what keeps victims in abusive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Williams 152) Many domestic violence victims lack family support because either they have passed
away or they have really bad relationships with them so they instead are forced to to rely on battered
shelters and homeless shelters for protection. Research conducted on homeless and domestic shelters
find that shelters are temporary and they rarely provide help for more than 3 months. Research on on
homeless and domestic shelters also suggest that shelters do not provide individuals with the ability to
become economically dependent; therefore, it is to no surprise that women make up a large portion of
the familial homeless population. (Roschelle

Friendship in Something Wicked This Way Comes
In the novel, Something Wicked This Way Comes, two boys named Jim Nightshade and Will
Holloway discover a strange carnival. (Bradbury, 25) Not long after this discovery of the strange
carnival, the two boys realize the dangers and mayhem this carnival holds. As they try to spill the
faults of the carnival, they find themselves in danger. Mr. Dark, the one in charge of the carnival, tries
to rid of the two boys so that they won t bother his carnival any more. In place of Jim and Will being
scavenged by Mr. Dark and his carnival freaks, Wills dad steps in to aid the boys until the storm that
will temporarily end the carnival comes. After hiding and running away from Mr. Dark, the boys get
caught and become captives of the carnival. Soon Charles Hall
One common occurrence in this novel is the friendship between Will and Jim. Friendship is what kept
Jim, Will s best friend, alive. However, despite the obstacles they faced the carnival s presence, their
friend ship stayed strong. During chapter 3, the book states: That s friendship, each playing the potter
to see what shapes we can make of the other. (Bradbury,18) This quote backs up the fact that the two s

Ekubo In Iwasaki s Memoirs Of A Geisha
Misinterpreted Terms
Some terms Golden uses are misleading and divert from the original meaning of the terms used in
geisha culture. Golden misuses the cultural context of water. In Iwasaki s autobiography, she mentions
the term ochobo, which is a small rounded confection with a red tip on the top (123). Ochobo
symbolizes the breast and is given to people in Gion to pay respects and say congratulations (Iwasaki
123). This term is also mentioned in Golden s work; however, he also uses another term: ekubo
(Golden 238). Ekubo, according to Sayuri, is a sweet rice cake, which is given to a man to show that
the apprentice geisha becomes available for mizuage (Golden 238). According to the novel, a geisha

Golden changes his view and romanticises a fictional account while portraying Sayuri as a prostitute.
He distorts the image of a highly recognized profession in Japan aligning it to American conceptions
of prostitutes. After examining bias through Said s definition of orientalism, it is clear that Golden
portrays a particular bias towards the geisha culture. Even after WWII, the understanding of the geisha
culture is incomplete and mysterious, as only very few people pursue this profession. Therefore, the
geisha s life is depicted differently from what Japanese people would believe geishas are. Through his
portrayal of geishas as sex objects rather than entertainers, and the sexualization of the blood and
water motifs, Golden misuses terms to bring out his beliefs of the Japanese culture. Since Memoirs of
a Geisha is a fictional novel, he uses the opportunity to manipulate how Westerners view the geisha
culture. In the end, Golden s bias towards the geisha culture is prominent throughout the novel in his
portrayal of Sayuri. Arthur Golden s portrayal of Sayuri s life as a geisha in the 1930 1940s, is an
inaccurate account as he westernizes the meaning of the word

The Auteur Theory Of Walt Disney s Film
Film has been a prominent topic in society since its conception. One of the most important physical
areas of film creation is located in Hollywood, California. Hollywood has produced some of the most
recognizable directors and film creators. Walter Elias Disney is one major example of this. He is still
extremely well known because of the vast business he created that is still thriving today. Many people
have argued that his career fits within either the classical auteur theory or the structuralist auteur
theory, but no argument has been as strong as the one that supports Disney s career as the commercial
auteur theory. The fact that Walt Disney s work was very much affected by elements outside of his
films shows that his career fits within the commercial, or consumer, auteur film theory. The
commercial auteur theory supports the idea that the author is what a person has cultivated to represent
themselves. Catherine Grant, the writer of www.auteur.com, calls this cultivation of an intentional self
an aura. She presents the idea that the creation of an aura is central to the success of one s
commercialism. This creation will result in a sort of cult following that will find the author s work to
be a commodity. This cult will begin to seek after certain films just because it was created by this
author. This author does not have to be a director. He or she could be an actor or anyone else involved
in the filmmaking process. This theory definitely fits the career of Walt

Japanese Americans in American Concentration Camps
World War II was a time of deliberate hate among groups of innocent people who were used. While
the first thought that comes to mind is the Jewish people kept in Concentration Camps throughout the
Holocaust, this is not it. Japanese Americans were persecuted due to the fact that they looked like
citizens of Japan, who had attacked the United States on December 7th, 1941 at the naval base, Pearl
Harbor. This hatred toward the group was due to newspapers creating a scare for the American people,
as well as the government restricting the rights of Japanese Americans. The Japanese Americans were
mistreated during World War II for no other reason than being different. These men, women, and
children were loathed by the American public for looking like the people of the Japanese army that
had attacked the United States. These people were only hated by association, even though many had
come to the United States to create a better life for their family. In March of 1942, the exclusion and
imprisonment of Japanese American began. There was an authority that started to administer the
camps. These authorities were known and the War Relocation Authority, (History.com) or the WRA.
In the beginning, military like prisoners were sent to the detention centers on busses or trains. There
were 13 detention centers, twelve in California and one in Oregon. These centers were organized on
farms, racetracks, or fairgrounds. Some even lived in the dirty stalls of livestock. These stalls lacked

Topdog Underdog Dialogue Essay
The topdog underdog dialogue is a technique I would use for Ellie to confront her opposing thoughts
about her father (Sommers Flanagan, Sommers Flanagan, 2015). Her father has partially lead her to
her perfectionist tendencies, yet has betrayed her mother in the past, while Ellie is currently also alone
in caring for him. While leading a dialogue between the divergences within Ellie and as well between
Ellie and her father, Ellie can take responsibility for her words and actions and either come to terms
about caring for her father, or that she truly needs help from her sister as she cannot do it alone.
Furthermore, this technique can be used with her sister as well, as her sister is avoiding the
responsibility of caring for her father and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ellie has patterns of behaviour from her childhood which she is transferring to her current life. If it is
working in a high paced environment a couple of months after having her children, or it is in raising
her child or being a good daughter and wife. From Ellie s description, I am inferring that she is
focused on her perfect behaviour without focusing on her emotions and what truly fulfils her in a
given moment. By revealing her hesitation to acknowledge her emotions or by bringing her awareness
to the current reality, regardless of the past, Ellie can integrate parts of herself which she has been
neglecting for years. Furthermore, if her husband is truly supportive and is giving her the space to
work on herself, yet he is also an imperfect human being and has his surge of emotions occasionally, I
would challenge Ellie s feelings of feeling like a child when communicating with him. The topdog
underdog dialogue would also be of aid in confronting Ellie s childish feelings when her husband
loses his temper. Throughout the entire therapy, I would aim for Ellie to stay with the feeling
(Sommers Flanagan, Sommers Flanagan, 2015). She is disconnected from her emotions so Gestalt
therapy is useful for her to become more aware of what she feels at a given

  • 2. The Spirit Club Essay 1 What s at stake for the key parties, including those that may disagree with you? What is important to them? What does the target value and why? I see how these events transpire as a character test. Who am I and what do I stand for? My friends, my relationships and my future are directly correlated to the events that will occur. Whats important to me is that I do what s right strictly based on my values. The Spirit Club s value surpasses any individual and the implications of Matt s actions could be detrimental to the club. First and foremost, our reputation as a reputable club is at stake. The Spirit Club could potentially be in a position where our whole structure has to change to a more bureaucratic form all the while being under heavy over site of administration. I fear that the club chemistry would hurt if this occurred. Who Matt is and his legacy could change in a heartbeat depending on what he did with the shirt profits. If he truly stole the money, then it shows he never valued spirit club as much as he valued his own personal gain and failed to see how they are intertwined. Personally, I will no longer see him as a friend merely an example of poor leadership as many others will. I can only wonder if Laura was in on this with Matt and that s why she was so forward in bringing it up to Matt. Her friendship with Matt may have resulted in a blind spot for unethical behavior. If this is true my friendship and many others with her is likely over and so is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Five Stages In The Development Of Human Growth And... While reading through Chapter 1, there were a lot of eye openers. While reading, the realization of important factors that determines what kind of adult a child will be. Two developments of human growth are Continuous and Discontinuous. Continuous Development is the process in which there is gradual improvement through systematic exercise, and Discontinuous Development is based off the stepping stones of infant through adulthood human growth (Woolfolk Perry, 2015). These are characterized by the qualitative differences in behavior. As children grow from prenatal, ages 0 to 2 years old, to becoming an adolescence, 11 and above, they can learn and better understand what is going on in the world around them, which in turn teaches a life lesson. There are 5 stages in the development of life for a human. The five stages are prenatal (conception to birth), infancy (birth to 2 years), early childhood (ages 2 to 6), middle childhood (ages six to eleven), and adolescence (11 and up). Throughout each stage, there are new developments that take place in a child s life. Many factors go into growth development and how a child will turn out as an adult, including but not limited to, social skills, sociodemographic, ethnicity and culture, adoption or biological, protection and risk, health, corporal punishment, environmental, parental/sibling relationships, risk taking, and self regulation (Shriver, 2014). • 5. Gilded Age During The Gilded Age 1880 1928 The Gilded Age in America ranges from 1880 to 1928 and can be understood simply by acknowledging that the wealthy dominated the poor in all aspects of life. American history during the Gilded Age can be further examined particularly in two ways, socially and economically. Establishing the understanding and connection between protection of the people, the type of government being practiced, and the concept of efficiency will allow for an educated assessment of this time and will highlight policies and practices that America should be looking at to succeed as it moves forward. At this time, there was little to no protection of people that were not wealthy business men such as Andrew Carnegie and William Graham Sumner who both make cases in favor of social Darwinism. Business men of this time believed that they were wiser than the poor and that if the workers diligently tried, they could be rich as well(PS26). This was not a valid way to look at how society was going because of unsafe working conditions and low wages. Large scale business owners held a tight rein on workers, which in turn led to events like the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire in 1911 where nearly 150 women were killed because they were trapped in a burning building. These women were unable to leave their workroom because the business owners had locked them in out of fear that the women may take too long of a break, or steal a shirt they were working on if they had any freedoms in the workplace. Mandatory Bargaining Definition According to Labor Relations (1958) mandatory subject of bargaining is noted by the Supreme Court that the area of mandatory collective bargaining includes subjects relating to wages, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment. The US Supreme Court has identified two criteria for determining whether or not an issue represents a mandatory subject for bargaining: 1. Whether it is plainly germane to the working environment : and 2. Not among those managerial decisions which lie at the core of entrepreneurial control. The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) as well as the federal courts have substantial discretion in determining whether or not a particular issue constitutes a mandatory subject for bargaining (Petersen Boller, ... • 7. Digital Modulation Techniques For Modern Communication... ABSTRACT This project describes the different types of digital modulation techniques that are implemented in modern communication systems. Currently most of the wireless transmission and radio communication systems adapts digital modulation techniques because of its ability to provide high information capacity, better data encryption, greater noise immunity and easier multiplexing of different forms of inputs/information such as sound, video etc. All the experiments and data collected are obtained using software called Simulink. Digital modulation techniques have the ability to convey more information in the same channel than analog modulation techniques this also implies that same amount of data can be stored in less space. The basic techniques which include Amplitude shift keying, Phase Shift keying, Frequency Shift keying and Quadrature Phase shift keying have been demonstrated by creating a model using the blocks and channels available in the Simulink library. The signal used in all of the experiments which is to be transmitted is a randomly generated sequence of bits and the carrier signal used is a high frequency sinusoidal signal. All of these experiments vary a characteristic (frequency, amplitude and phase) of the carrier sinusoid to represent the signal that is to be transmitted. A separate communication system has been developed which accepts sound as input signal which is digitally modulated and the corresponding output is obtained accordingly. ... However, as the story nears its end, Troy is forced to tell Rose that he is having a child, that of the women who he s been seeing. Rose is enraged by this sudden revelation, and when the turn of events leads to Alberta s death in childbirth, Rose accepts the responsibility of raising the new child, but proclaims to Troy that he is now a womanless man. During the late seventeenth century, he was a Russian czar both narcissistic and thirsty for power. Mostly because of his reforms, Peter is known to have a positive effect on Russia, though it is debatable. Throughout his reign and life, Peter continued struggling just to maintain power in Europe. His reign marks a dramatic shift in the development and goal of Russia. Peter took Russia into the European world, westernizing it, and leading him to create what is known as the the window to the west for Russia. He did this by adopting European customs, administrative systems, architecture, and many other ideas from Europe. He mainly focused on the navy and new technology advances Russia could use (Whisenhunt 329). Because more carbon dioxide is being put into the air, there is more absorption by the atmosphere and more reflection back to the surface, so the surface is getting warmer. Now, what actions are resulting in the expansion of the greenhouse effect? Two main causes are burning fossil fuels and driving our cars. According to a NASA earth observatory web page, fossil fuel burning (coal, oil and gas) releases about 6 billion metric tons per year. On the EPA web site, it is stated that most of the emissions of greenhouse gases, about 82%, are from burning fossil fuels to generate electricity and power our cars. As I said before, driving our cars also is a large cause. For example, Ecobridge states that Twenty percent of U.S. carbon dioxide emissions comes from the burning of gasoline in internal combustion engines of cars and light trucks. So a fair amount of the emissions is from driving your car. Deforestation, the cutting and burning of a forest, also increases the amount of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. More recently, researchers have started to look at the keys to leadership from a natural sciences standpoint. The world is starting to understand that our views of leadership in organizations have to be consistent with the nature of the world outside. Richard Wielkiewicz and Stephen Stelzner go so far to say that the key to effective leadership is by looking at and having a fair representation of all perspectives, that includes an environmental perspective. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A third assertion says organizations are more adaptive when diversity of input is present. This is an easy statement to understand. If people with different backgrounds give input, there will be a wider range of thoughts and ideas. If an organization takes these diverse perspectives into account, they will be better able to adapt to changing thoughts and societal norms. The final assertion given is related to Wheatley s notion of new and old science. Wheatley suggests that old science is a mechanistic view that is no longer relatable and that her idea of new science is one that needs to be followed (Wheatley, 2006, pg. 15). On the other hand, Wielkiewicz and Stelzner say that instead of just rejecting old science, there should be a tension between the two approaches. One needs to find a resolution between the traditional industrial approach and the lesser known neglected ecological approach . There are four ecological principles than can help explain organizational leadership. They are interdependence, open systems and feedback loops, the cycling of resources, and adaptation. By looking at each principle, one can relate it back to their organization and hopefully be able to integrate the things learned with previous notions in order to make leadership more efficient. Walter Elias Disney is one major example of this. He is still extremely well known because of the vast business he created that is still thriving today. Many people have argued that his career fits within either the classical auteur theory or the structuralist auteur theory, but no argument has been as strong as the one that supports Disney s career as the commercial auteur theory. The fact that Walt Disney s work was very much affected by elements outside of his films shows that his career fits within the commercial, or consumer, auteur film theory. The commercial auteur theory supports the idea that the author is what a person has cultivated to represent themselves. Catherine Grant, the writer of www.auteur.com, calls this cultivation of an intentional self an aura.
