Gang Vs Traditional Gang
Defining gangs have been compared to packs, teams, and groups. Participants of gangs do not
necessarily commit violent acts or commence in illegal matters. The National Gang Center has
come to a consensus on defining gangs with the commonalities of three or more members
between the ages of 12 through 24, shared identity, recognized by others as a gang or crew, has
levels of organization, and usually involved in criminal activities (Shelden, Tracy, Brown, 2013).
Some gangs are excluded from this definition due to not proportionate with their usual activities.
Overall, we can consider gangs to be founded when members share similar characteristics and
establish a symbol to represent their livelihood. Pictures 1 through 3 I found in various locations
in Chattanooga relatively close to downtown area. These graffiti markings are found to belong
to a graffiti crew that declares themselves as DIB which is an acronym for doin it blazed
composed of graffiti artists such as Renik, Bern, Astro, and Spec (Reddit, 2013). This is not our
traditional idea of a gang or gang members since they only commit acts of vandalism. However,
without keeping in mind our idea of a traditional gang, we see this group has many of the aspects
to be considered a gang. There are more than 3 members who have a shared... Show more content

The areas where lower poverty households live have the highest amount of gang affiliation and
gang violence occurrence. My findings were two gangs, although one is not considered in the
comprehensive assessment. Chattanooga has begun a reform against graffiti and started a
movement to clean up gangs (Putman, 2016). Therefore, gang related graffiti is being cleaned up to
help the movement in reducing gang involvement. Finding specific gang graffiti has become a
struggle and is not located in parts where the incidents have

The 1968 Tet Offensive In The Vietnam War
The 1968 Tet Offensive was a series of battles which took place during the Vietnam War where the
North Vietnamese Army (NVA) and the National Liberation Front (NLF) attacked the Army of the
Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) and U.S. Forces in South Vietnam. This major offensive by the
Democratic Republic of Vietnam (DRV) forces which were initiated on January 30th of 1968 in
coordination with Tet, the Vietnamese New Year. The offensive is historically labeled as a military
defeat for the DRV forces while ultimately being a strategic victory through it s ability to turn major
American public opinion against support of the war effort in Vietnam. Johnson s decision to halt
escalation after the Tet Offensivemarked a crucial turning point in American participation in the
Vietnam War. (History.com Staff 2009)

much of the American public saw it [the Tet Offensive] as stark evidence that the war could not be
won at a reasonable cost. (Lawrence 2008) The NLF had laid siege to the U.S. Embassy in Saigon,
a major center of U.S. power, and attacked hundreds of cities and villages. It was reasonably
assumed by the American public that an enemy in retreat could not launch such a large offensive,
and inherently this caused great concern over the situation in Vietnam. The images of the American
embassy under siege and the stark contrast between the fierce fighting during Tet and the optimistic
estimates and reports emanating from Washington in the period just prior to the attacks contributed
to the interpretation of the Tet Offensive as a political and moral defeat for the U.S. (Walton, J.

Premarital Cohabitation
I.) Fundamental Issues and Historical Applications A. Toward a Greater Understanding of the
Cohabitation Effect: Premarital Cohabitation and Marital Communication. 1. Issue number 6. What
is the most appropriate level of analysis for psychology? Position A: Molecular. Despite significant
theories giving a relationship to premarital cohabitationand the likelihood of divorce, we have yet to
definitively answer the underlying question of why the relationship exists. This study focuses not
on the theories themselves, but on a function of marital life. Marital communication is a large part
of marital development. If the breakdown of communication is significantly lower for couples that

premarital cohabitation and marital dysfunction may have changed over time. These theories

The Struggle For Equality For Women In The 19th And 20th...
During the 19th and 20th century, the suffragette groups used various militant and peaceful
methods and tactics to achieve equality for women. These actions are clear inspirations in
modern Australian feminism and society. 19th and 20th century Britain was a patriarchal society
where women were perceived as second class citizens, not given many rights and additionally
unequal to males despite their level of education, role and requirement to pay taxes. Society
perceived women as child bearers and the property of males. They had no educational
opportunities in academic fields such as law and science, unequal wage, limited economic rights
under the Unito Caro law and additionally, were subject to violence and poor health rights. This
resulted in the grievance amongst the women, and officially led to the struggle for equality before
the law and society. During the struggle, three main women s suffrage groups were established; The
National Union Of Women s Suffrage Societies (NUWSS), The
Women s Social And Political Union (WSPU) and The Women s Freedom League
(WFL). The groups common aim was to achieve the right to vote as they believed through this, they
will be able to achieve other rights as their political input and involvement will be taken into account
and not ridiculed due to their gender. A range of militant, peaceful and democratic methods and
tactics were adopted to differentiate the groups and many of them are clear in modern Australian
feminism through the

Affirmative Action in the Workplace
Affirmative Action in the Workplace
Negative and Positive
Rebecca Mikell

Affirmative action in this time and place is a very hard area to keep in place when it comes to
keeping jobs even at work for the employees. Sometimes this type of equality in the working
world can be good and sometimes it can be bad, but it depends on how it is used that really
makes how a person can feel when it comes to this type of treatment of employees no matter
what color or sex a person is during this time period. If you take a look at what might be good
about this type of action where I work five days a week, you would say that it is better on the day

So to me that is not the right way to judge someone just because they are not the right sex for a
job. There is one Bible verse that I have found that kind of deals with affirmative action in places
and that is Acts 6:13 which says, Now, in these days when the disciples were increasing in
number, a complaint by the Hellenists arose against the Hebrews because their widows were
being neglected in the daily distribution. And the twelve summoned the full number of the
disciples and said, It is not right that we should give up preaching the word of God to serve
tables. Therefore, brothers, pick out from among you seven men of good repute, full of the Spirit
and of wisdom, whom we will appoint to this duty. (Holy Bible , NKJV) No employees, not matter
what color, sex, or race should be treated unfairly in a work place. It is not the fair thing and to
me you should not have to put any type of action in place to make people see what s right and
wrong when it comes to hiring someone for a job in this society today. I know there are people
who do not treat others fairly, but they should have to be the ones who have to follow a rule, and
not the ones who are treating everyone equal.

Design Of The Fourth Amendment
Design of the Fourth Amendment The Fourth Amendment was not designed to serve as a fixed
protection against government abuse. There is no amendment to the Bill of Rights whose contents
should be taken at the face value they were written for. Keeping any amendment in its historical
context would solidify the amendment as a defense for the historical incidents that occurred in late
eighteenth century, rather than a guarantee that law enforcement officers act accordingly in present
day. As times change and advances are made to technology, society identifies a need for changes
within amendments; specifically the Fourth. Based on the majority opinions of landmark cases by
the Supreme Court, we are able to predict where Fourth Amendment law is headed in connection
with new technologies. Law is the formal embodiment of rules that legislators, regulators, and
judges etch into statute books, administrative manuals, and judicial decisions. It is unavoidable and
desirable to see the law change as technology becomes increasingly sophisticated (Larkin 2013).
The invention of telecommunications systems in 1875, created a need for a law to protect the
integrity of conversations. Likewise, the invention of electronic devices such as car spotlights,
electronic listening devices, global positioning systems, and thermal imaging scanners brought
upon a validated reason for the public to be concerned. The concern raised was over the abuse of
these devices by the government in order to acquire

What Is The Hunger In Nigeria
Jocelyn Bennett
Instructor Williamson
ENG III
8 December 2017
The Hunger in Nigeria The world s hunger is ridiculous. There is more fruit in a rich man s
shampoo than on a poor man s plate (The World S). Nigeria consists of 186 million people and
of those 450,000 are malnourished children (Nigeria). A malnourished child is one not receiving
the appropriate amount of nutrients in their system. In America, this can be from eating a
substantial amount of unhealthy food or from not eating enough.. Unfortunately, the situation in
Nigeria is strictly not obtaining enough food or any at all. Nigeria is only one of many that
need help in getting food to its people. Therefore, the number of people with an inadequate
amount of food in Nigeria is increasing due to conflict and needs to be decreased due to it
causing a variety of diseases and making it easier for viruses to spread throughout the country.
The question the whole world has been asking is why the amount of Nigeria s malnourished
population has increased. It all begins with a group named Boko Haram. Boko Haram is a
group similar to ISIS and has been capturing multiple cities throughout Nigeria. The group is
making it extremely difficult for the natives to continue their farming, as well as their everyday
life. The Nigerian government has been trying extremely hard to gain control of their cities once
again (Conflict). However, there have been many times where Nigeria was too late. Boko
Haram has harmed and killed over 100,000 people in Borno alone.(Nigeria) The group has
managed to force over two million people to relocate their lives elsewhere within the region of
Nigeria. This can be referred to as internally displacing someone (Tukur). Nigeria has been trying it
s hardest to recapture the sites taken, especially Borno. Unfortunately, Boko Haram hasn t been
stopped yet and the number of malnourished natives is rapidly increasing.
According to Inland Valley Daily, each day, about 29,000 children worldwide die from hungerand
preventable diseases such as malnutrition, malaria, diarrhea, and acute respiratory infections
(Guerrero). The malnutrition in Nigeria may not seem like such a problem; however, it is a major
one. The Nigerian population cannot grow

Feminist Interview
Well, for this interview doing this was nothing new to me mainly because I was recently in
another Women Studies class and we always had to do something or this sort and hear people s
different perspectives about certain issues. But the people I decided to interview were women
who I knew were college educated and worked in three different type of career fields. Furthermore
I decided to interview all women and in particularly I interviewed a women who worked for the
government, a womanin the medical field, and finally a college professor. The reason I picked
these particular ladies because I knew I would get three different answers but also the same answer
for how it corresponds with their careers. When conducting the first interview which... Show more

Well when the interview started out she didn t know what feminism was as well but what she though
it was included the lifestyle of women and gender equality. My second interviewee answer was
yes she qualifies herself as a feminist and she for anything that is for the empowering of women
and anything that will push them forward. She believes that women over the years have been a
pillar towards men and women are starting to dominate fields that were originally for men
especially in the hospital. Well from this interview the answers didn t surprise me as well
because this person is my sister and I am starting to get the impression after a while people seem
to forget about the aspects of feminism and what actually is going on. But moving on to the last
interview with a Professor at BG. The reason I choose this women in particular because she also
is a women studies teacher and I wanted to get her opinion and how she felt about this. I didn t
experience anything bad from this professor as always she answered the questions thoroughly
and gave me some great answers. Well previously having a class with this teacher I knew she
was a feminist just by the topics we used to talk about and how she expressed her feelings
towards it. Out of all the interviews I had I do agree with what everyone has been saying and how
it relates to my own personal opinion about

Tax Free Acquisition
In General:
Tax free acquisition can be treated as corporation s reorganization. It is very similar to taxable
acquisition; the different between tax free acquisitions and taxable acquisitions is how buyer pays
for the acquisition to seller. During the acquisition buyer should use a significant amount of its
stock to pay seller.
Qualifications:
However, there is some qualifications need to be meet to qualify for the tax free acquisition.
According to the IRC section 368:
Continuity of ownership interest At least 50% of the consideration is acquirer stock (although
transactions with as little as 40% stock consideration have qualified for tax free treatment).
Continuity of business enterprise The acquirer must either continue the target s historical business
or use a significant portion of the target s assets in an existing business for 2 years after the
transaction.
Valid business purpose The transaction must serve a valid business purpose beyond tax avoidance.
Step transaction doctrine The transaction cannot be part of a larger plan that, taken in its entirety,
would constitute a taxable acquisition. 1
However, tax free acquisition is not fully tax free for the target company; Seller should treat the
gain from the acquisition as a deferred gain, so the tax for seller is just deferred not tax free.
Tax effects: During the acquisition every shareholders will have different tax effects.

Symbolism In The Cask Of Amontillado
The story of a Cask of Amontillado is a story of how hate can consume someone to the point of
hurting someone. The story has plenty of irony but the symbols in this story show a whole side
readers may not have seen if the symbols were not added. The cask of wine, the coat of arms of
Montresor s family, and the family moto are the symbols that stood out the most though out the
story. First, the Cask of wine is a symbol of if a feeling comes up that something might be better
than it seems, it most likely is. Fortunato is trying to boost and show his wine tasting skills. In
doing this he is only hurting himself by trying to boost and show up. Being like Fortunato is in
this part is not a good decision because he just let his pride get him killed.

In this experiment, we wanted to investigate which surfaces in the school had the most bacteria,
and we thought that the surfaces used more would have the most bacteria. For this experiment
we used agar plates, cotton swabs and distilled water in order to see how much bacteria was on
each surface. Cotton swabs were wet with distilled water and then the swabbed ws wied on a 2
inch space of the surface and twisted to cover the entire swab.once we swabbed the surface, we
wiped the swab on the plate in a zigzag motion holding it upside down. The girls bathroom sink
handle had 389 bacteria, and the boys bathroom by the football field had 0. We saw that places
commonly used such as the bathroom sinks, doorhandles and railings contracted the most bacteria.

is a rewarding career path that requires hard work, and dedication. The hard work of a prospective
engineer can be shown in the benefits he receives upon entering the workforce. For example,
according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the starting salaries of engineers are among the highest

Mechanical engineers, according to Mechanicalengineeringinformation.com, can receive up to
the average base salary which, ...is around $66,000 per year ( Mechanical Engineering Salary ,

willing to pay for a good engineer. The World Book verifies that it was around the time of the
industrial revolution that the role of engineers expanded more rapidly ( Engineering , 1999).
Ever since then, the need for engineers has grown even more. Engineering Degrees 101.com
states that today, the body of engineers in the U.S. is 1.5 million strong and still growing ( How
long does it take to become an engineer? , 2012). It would appear that these people liked being
paid a lot of money, so they became engineers.
Quite often, prospective engineers partake in more than 4 years of college, but other options are

have agreements whereby the 2 year college provides the initial engineering education (

Hand Hygiene Research Paper
Introduction
The dirtiest thing you own maybe your cell phone. Imagine what touches your phone the most,
probably your hands and face. Since cell phones are everywhere and have become one of the most
helpful tools of our generation, they have their drawbacks. The use of cell phones happens
everywhere today, one place being the hospital. From a study of phones and spreading of bacteria
associated with health care associated infections, Karabay states, Our study reveals that mobile
phones may get contaminated by bacteria (such as Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and

These microorganisms are transmitted from poor hand hygiene from health care workers to patients
as well as touching of contaminated equipment and environmental surfaces. Microorganisms are
most commonly introduced to susceptible sites such as open wounds or other portals of entry by
contaminated hands. Infection leads to adverse clinical outcomes and can directly threat patient
recovery.
Another problem that goes with the lack of hand hygiene compliance is the many excuses that
healthcare workers use to avoid washing their hands. Hass and Larson summarize (2009) some
of the barriers to adherence that healthcare workers use, a lack of access to hand washing sinks,
insufficient time, skin irritations, and lack of accountability (Hass amp; Larson, 2009). Some
solutions they explain to combat the barriers are to put more alcohol based sanitizers where
sinks are not around and placing them all over the patient care areas also reduces time and can
be a suitable way for proper hand hygiene if the healthcare worker s hand is not soiled. They also
describe, Involve staff in trying several alcohol based hand sanitizers before deciding on one, and
involve employee health services in creating a plan to manage hand skin problems among staff.
Alcohol based sanitizers that have lotion in them can be helpful for staff who have very sensitive
skin (Hass amp; Larson, 2009).

One of the many environmental problems faced today by human activity is deforestation.
Deforestation refers to the term used to describe the demolition of woodland, forest cover and
plantations to allow space for agriculture, industrialization or for urban uses. Forest clearance
which is associated with extreme local impacts such as loss of habitat, loss of biological
diversity and instability of slopes and soils (Hugget et al: 2004). There are many reasons for
deforestation, such as agricultural activities, urbanization, logging, mining and the desertification
of land (conserve energy future: 2014). According to the United Nations food and agriculture
organization every year almost eighteen million acres of forests are lost and destroyed each year
(FAO: 2014). The rapid and ever increasing rate of deforestation makes it very dangerous and
distressing and fear of the long term effects that may be a result if the rate of clearing does not

Freud And The Ego Ideal Research Paper
According to Freud, the ego ideal is the source of narcissism that relates to repression and the
unconscious, topics explored in his other theories. In this essay, he discusses the ego ideal and
the actual ego. The ego ideal is the representation of what one wants to become. It is the perfect,
idealized version of one s self. The actual ego is the reality of that person. The ego ideal
ultimately serves the pleasure principle. One of the opposing drives Freud presents is the drive
for pleasure. An argument Freud presents in his essay is where does self serving for pleasure end
and fulfilment of responsibilities begin? Our impulses drive us to nourish and protect ourselves.
This drive, part of the pleasure principle, is an effect of the ideal... Show more content on

His ideas of actual love relate to narcissism in regards to the understanding of love. In other
words, love and narcissism seem to go hand in hand. The concept of narcissism was developed in
part by studying psychosis and, pragmatically, narcissism explained the intractability of
psychosis to psychoanalysis (Sharpless, 211). Sharpless uses Freud s theories of narcissism to
not only report the facts, but to use his theories in action. Where does love come from? Where
does narcissism come from? In this essay, Sharpless states the love derives from narcissism, an
idea that is supported by Freud s theories. The use of Freud in this essay concerning romantic love
leads to the conclusion that love comes from the unconscious. Our ego believes that it is
controlling our thoughts and actions. However, it is likely that the unconscious makes the ego
believe this and instead, controls what we think, say, and do without our conscious recognition. If
love is connected to narcissism, Sharpless theorizes that actual love is connected to pain for the
lover. Coming to a happy love and working through the impediments to reach such a state entails
the gaining of self knowledge and a continual modification of one s ego to a state that is likely
commensurable with the lover s (Sharpless, 223).

I have chosen to open a checking account with Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union. This bank is
for any person living in the Hudson Valley in New York State. Therefore, there are no special
requirements besides geography that determine eligibility for this credit union. I also looked at
Bank of America and Wells Fargo. After reviewing all the options for different accounts and the
pros and cons of each bank, I believe Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union is the right bank for me.
Bank of America and Wells Fargo have multiple types of checking accounts. For the purposes of
comparisons, I chose the most basic account type to compare to HVFCU, which only has one
available type of checking account. Bank of America offers Core Checking and Interest

It is said that being acquainted with one s body would make speaking one s mind an easier task.
Therefore, I would start small and begin by practicing nonverbal assertive behaviors such as

and not backing off from the other person in any conversation. Then, once I am comfortable with
this step and encounter conflict, I can take my time to reflect on the problem, and create a plan
of action. Part of this plan would consist of creating an outline of what I would say. To make this
task easier, Lachman s formulas of model behavior, such as When you do X, I feel Y because Z,

assertively responding would become less strenuous, because I would have these formulas or

Peter Jackson Controversy
The legendary Peter Jackson, director of the Lord of The Rings Series and The Hobbit movies,
jumped at the chance to see the world famous super villain s newest movie scene. Rogue One, the
newest edition the the Star Wars franchise, hit theaters in December of 2016 and made a box office

movie hinted at his astounding feature and many Star Warsfans were desperate to see some of the

Emergency Room Monitoring System
Clinical Tip #7
You are currently working in an office with the best equipment possible for dentistry. Your office

complement a professional environment. However, life can change rapidly and someday you
may be working in a less than ideal environment. I took an online class with a dental hygienist in
San Francisco, and she was hand dipping all of the film in her office. They did not even possess an

Dilantin Synthesis Lab Report
Abstract Dilantin is an antiepileptic drug by acting on the nervous system and this lab synthesized
pure Dilantin through a multistep process. The first step involves using the coenzyme, thiamine, as
a catalyst to synthesize benzoin. Benzoin is oxidized to benzil using NH4NO3 to regenerate
amounts of cupric acetate, followed by reaction with urea in a base to yield Dilantin. Experimental
physical properties and spectral data were analyzed to show relatively pure Dilantin synthesized.

For benzil, the IR has sp3 C H, C=O and C=C aromatic stretch (Table 1) that correspond to the
literature6, however, there is also the presence of an O H peak that is not expected and is due to
the presence of unreacted benzoin. This helps to explain the low yield of Dilantin (20.9%)
because not all of the crude benzil would have reacted as some of it would have been benzoin.
The Dilantin was successfully synthesis as the final product showed N H, sp3 C H, C=O and

explained by the low yield. To improve the yields of this multistep synthesis the procedure should
be modified to allow a longer reaction time to condense all of the benzaldehyde to benzoin in the
first step as 1.5 h is not sufficient as shown by the TLC. Furthermore, recrystallization should be
performed after each synthetic step as to remove impurities and potential side products that may

What Is Little Albert Unethical
The story of Little Albert starts with a case study done by Dr. John B. Watson. When the study
began little Albert did not show any sign of fear for any animals including the little white rat
used in the experiment. It seems that Dr. Watson was determined to prove that everything that is
feared became a fear by installation. He started the experiment with a constant, that being
introducing the child to different animals and recording the reaction that is given. Dr. Watson
then went on to prove his theory. When he brought the white rat back to Little Albert he set of a
loud metal banging sound that upset Little Albert every time he reached for the rat. Soon Little
Albert was afraid of the rat because he equated the rat to the loud noise that scared him. Not only
was albert afraid of the rat he was afraid of all things that had fur. The Dr. even put on a white
furry mask and saw that albert was then afraid of that as well. This study has no control variable.
Little Albert was afraid basically because he was made to be afraid of the objects.

forced the child to be afraid of the animals. In addition to the white rat he was afraid of a dark

Wide Open Spaces Rhetorical Analysis
Transcendentalism is to understand who oneself is by having confidence, free thought, and self
reliance. It is to isolate themselves from society and find themselves through nature, to find what
they want and who they are. They must have self reliance and leave the people they know, and
isolate themselves from society, so they will not be told who they are or who they should be.
Going into nature without the luxuries and only the essentials, confidence is imperative. They
have to be confident in themselves to know they can survive on their own. Free thought is also
crucial because they need to be able to live a simple life and explore new ways to live, while

There are about 15 million Americans that battle the disease of depression. Our society is in the

Seat Belt Laws Essay
Since the implementation of mandatory seat belt laws studies have shown that seat belt usage has
increased while traffic fatalities have decreased. Seat belt usage rates increased from 17% to 79%
in the U.S. between 1983 and 2003 (Houston Richardson, 2006). All U.S. states except New
Hampshire have mandatory seat beltlaws for adults. Currently, there are two types of seat belt
enforcement, primary and secondary. To date, 34 states have a primary enforcement law which
allows a police officer to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicleand issue a citation for no other reason
than the fact that the driver is not wearing a seat belt. A benefit to a state having a primary
enforcement law is that in 2016 seat belt usage was up 92% according to the CDC (2017).
A secondary seat belt enforcement law requires a police officer to have a separate traffic
infraction, such as speeding, before being allowed to cite a driver for not wearing a seat belt.
There are 15 states which currently operate under a secondary seat belt law. According to
research provided by the CDC, states with secondary seat belt enforcement action had an increase
in seat belt usage by 83% in 2016 (2017). It is unclear if states with primary enforcement action

The Importance Of Being A Good Waitress
I have been waitressing almost two years, during this long period of time, I learned the
importance of being a good waitress. By being a successful waitress I am not only getting
excellent tips, but I am also making my customers remember my service. I enjoy the time I spend
talking with my customers and taking care of them. I meet a lot of interesting people since I have
started working at the restaurant. In order to become a successful waitress, a waitress has to take
goodcare of her customers and be aware of what is happening in her surroundings. First of all,
when I notice that I have customers sitting in my section, I finish my other chores quickly and
walk to my table. Once I am there, I give them a friendly greeting and ask How are you guys
doing today? so we can have some small talk. This action shows most of my customers that I care
and have interest in them. Of course, everything has exceptions. Some customers do not like it if
their server speaks too much, because they wantto enjoy the peaceful and quiet environment.
Therefore, I will take their drink orders and carefully remember any of their special requests. For
example, drink without ice, drink with extra ice, sweet tea without lemon, etc. I promptly go to
the kitchen to make their drink orders and bring them out as soon as possible. After I deliver
their drinks, I ask them if they would like to start with some appetizers. If they do order
appetizers, I let the chief know as quickly as possible.

Science Fair Research Paper In this project a pizza box will be used to make a solar oven. In the
solar oven there will be black paint. The black paint is to see if the oven will get hotter, then if
there was not any black paint in the box. He will put different amounts of black paint in the pizza
boxes to see if he can get the box to get hotter. He will also use foil to see if he can get the heat to

paint he will have to put in the pizza box. He figures that the foil will hold in the heat more than
just a lot of black paint would.
He will put just black paint in one box. He also will put just foil in one box. He will see which
one will get hotter within a certain time period. He will then see if he makes one with black
paint and foil, if it will get hotter than the other one that got hotter. He will have to test the pizza

Hess Law Lab Report
LAB REPORT ON VERIFICATION OF HESS S LAW
Our purpose of doing this lab was to prove the Hess s law correct. Hess s law suggests that the
enthalpy change of a reaction must be equal to the sum of the enthalpy changes of the related
reactions which lead to the original reactions. The following are the reactions at the lab; 1) NaOH (
s) NaOH (aq) 2) NaOH (aq) + HCl (aq) NaCl (aq) + H2O (l) 3) NaOH (s) + HCl (aq) NaCl (aq) +
H2O (l)
As explained before, Hess s Law states that the enthalpy change of reaction three (О”H3) should be
equal to the sum of the enthalpy changes of the first two reactions ( О”H1 + О”H2 ).
As seen at the equations, the solid NaOH dissociates into its ions, after that it is neutralized by HCl.

The literature value for the enthalpy change of the last reaction which was provided by our teacher

Hess s law which suggests that the enthalpy change of a reaction must be equal to the sum of the
enthalpy changes of the other reactions that relate to the original reaction. Our result achieved from
this experiment is the simple proof of Hess s Law s validity.
Even though the result of an experiment is accurate and matches the literature value, it does not
mean that there were no mistakes made. As the difference of the percentage uncertainty and the
percentage error suggests there were random errors made. First of them was the heat energy lost to
the surrounding environment during the experiment process taking place. This caused the recorded
highest temperature to be smaller than the actual highest temperature that was meant to reach. This
could have been prevented by adding in more and perfect

How To Judge Pyncheon Family
In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The House of Seven Gables, the unfortunate life and history behind the
once wealthy and cursed Pyncheon family is exploited. Due to selfishness and greed over a plot
of land to build what is known as the House of Seven Gables, bad blood came about between the
Pyncheon family and the Maule family. The novel picks up over a century after the murder of the
man who stole the plot of land from the Maule family, Colonel Pyncheon. The main character,
Hepzibah Pyncheon, lives alone in the House of Seven Gables while her brother, Clifford, is in jail
for the framed murder of their uncle. Jaffrey Pyncheon, their cousin, is the wealthy yet greedy judge
that accused and framed Clifford for this murder. Regardless of the negative reputation that sits with
the Pyncheon family, characters such as Clifford, Hepzibah and Phoebe all act as silver lining to
this preconceived negativity; this emphasizes that society must understand that individuals have the

Jane, and Darcy are all completely different characters who show their pride and prejudice in
completely different ways. Since the very beginning of the book, Elizabeth Bennet, who is also
known as Lizzy, was very quick to judge, and her prejudice led her to believe in the wrong
people. When Lizzy met Mr. Wickham she instantly believed his story about Darcy; perhaps it
was because she already disliked him. He told her that he had grown up with Mr. Darcy and that
he was quite prideful. Wickham continued to say that Darcy had wronged him in a tremendous
way and of course Lizzy... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Darcy was very misunderstood as his first impression at the dance in Netherfield was not very
good. Elizabeth and all the other people in the town saw him as prideful; however, Darcy shows
later on in the book that he is just not very good with people. He explained to Elizabeth that the
story Wickham told her was actually a lie. Darcy began with the true story like this: he gave
Wickham money to study law but Wickham spent all of his money on other things. Coming
back to Darcy, he asked for more money and after refusing, Wickham deceived Darcy s sister into
elopement. When Darcy found out, he convinced Georgiana, his sister, not to follow through.
After finding out this story and hearing Darcy explain his past actions to her, Lizzy realized
how wrong she was and that she let her prejudice get in the way. After reading and understanding
the whole story, the reader can tell which characters let their pride or prejudice consume them.
Elizabeth always judged people by their first impressions. She began to love Wickham who
turned out to be a fraud, and she hated Darcy all because he was shy and misunderstood. Prejudice
in Elizabeth s case is in fact bad. However Jane s prejudice was on a different

Pablo Neruda Literary Devices
There are several Literary devices that Pablo Neruda utilizes within his poetry. These Literary
devices include the Use of Metaphors and Similes, along with the utilization of Imagery within
almost every Neruda poem. Overall these devices play a huge role on conveying what Neruda is
attempting to describe to per se a reader, so that they can feel or compare the action to common
sensations received by senses.
Similies are huge literary devices as they can be found in almost all of his poems. Similies and
Imagry help to convey the message that Neruda is writing. Similies convey a similarity within
Neruda s poetry, using words Like or As. These similies such as the ones found within Leaning into
the Evenings convey more so emotions to that of a more comonality that the reader may understand.

Without Imagery, Readers would not be able to feel the depth of Nerudas descriptions and what
emotions could be shared with an object or any sensual emotion felt. imagry within Neruda s
poetry utilizes aspects of Tactile imagry(touch), Visual Imagery(sight), Offracery imagery(smell)
and auditory Imagery(sound). PAblio Neruda s Entrance into Wood Shares that of Auditorial
imagry as several stanzas cover silence and tactile images describing the feel of the enviroment. I
pass among the damp uprooted fibers to the live heart of matter and silence. ...with your pale dead
swords, with your gathered hearts, with your silent horde. Within the poem Entrance into Wood ,
this Imagery is crucial towards describing the emotions, and giving the reader an accurate
description of the situation. A silent horde isnt like a regular horde in which there is excessive
noise, but with silence helping decribing the character s appeal to a funeral. Without Imagery
within Pablo Neruda s poetry, the Poem loses contextual descriptions which like in Entrance into
Wood can turn a horde of people into a silenced horde of

Analysis Of In-Game Honor
From Ubisoft you can always expect similar content for many games repeated all over again. This
title is trying to avoid this prejudice pretty originally. Under the cover of technical problems and
often discussed in game payment system for cosmetics and credits is hidden real diamond in terms
of gameplay.
In the game there are three main fractions. Do not think about how it s not realistic and just enjoy
them because in the game you will meet Samurais, Vikings and European Knights. There is a
huge conflict between these sides going on because of the lack of water and food. All these battles
are making the warriors tired and only one supporting their battles is Apollyon, leader of the
knights. War gives her life meaning. And she is also the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You don t need it that much in simple blocking and only thing you gonna have out of it is
showing your opponents that you are defensive type of player and he can get more aggresive.
But the real hell starts when you learn your own combos and counterattacks. Every character has
its own unique attacks so you will have to master it on a single one before you will want to try
anybody else. You think you can spam your opponent with just clicking and attacking? Well this
never works because of stamina and you will die easily before you can even recover, so let s learn!
To all of this add the fact that maps are rich and offers you places to go. You will find spikes,
holes, cliffs, fires and all of these can make your opponent a bad day. Well this perfect combat
system and reactions are definately not something easy and I felt like an amateur almost every
battle I entered because you just won t learn the game in one afternoon.
And this is the geniality of the game. Very tactical and also very fast game where you have to
consider all the possibilities. Your beggining will be tough, no doubt and you will most likely
experience desperation and frustration but when you learn something about the game, For Honor
starts to be a fun game for you.
Important part of multiplayer are game modes. You can choose between classic 1v1 duels, 2v2
brawls, 4v4 dominions where you have to capture important map locations or 4v4 team deathmatche

College Admissions Essay-My Birth And My Name
My Birth and My Name
An outstanding mission was complete on this day. Although, it did take nine months and a lot of
effort, it was still complete all thanks to my amazing mother (and partially my dad, too).
Unfortunately, their mission wasn t quite the success. They had to fertilize an egg, form a fetus,
then wait nine months until the baby comes out healthily. My parents got the first two steps done
with no problem, but only partially completed the last step. My mother held the fetus inside of her
successfully for the nine months, but when it was time for it to come out, it was nearly dead! It
had its umbilical cord wrapped around its neck, suffocating it for the whole time and no one knew
anything about it. Can you believe that?! I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
3 births and a death. Something unique about my name is that it s Hebrew for like God. Also,
Michelle s are, as stated by GWF27, destined for greatness. I find that interesting because I never
knew anything about my name until today. This information sort of makes me want to strive to do
better, and to do more. I do in fact have a nickname. It s one that originated from family. My
nickname for family ONLY, is Mimi. There s nothing special behind that name, it didn t come
from a brave ancestor who saved the lives of many. It was just easier to say, as stated by my
mother. A fun fact about this nickname is that it s actually Mexican slang for sleep. No one
outside my family is allowed to call my by that nickname. It makes me extremely uncomfortable
when they do. Others, such as friends or educators, are welcomed to call me nearly anything.
Some of my friends are calling me Mitch or an odd sounding way to pronounce my actual name.
Grandma Mitch (an inside joke), and Mom, also stuck with me for awhile. One name, that isn t a
nickname, just a mispronunciation of my actual name is also staying with me. It s when people
pronounce Michelle as MEEchelle. It does not tick me off, although I do prefer

The Invention Of Thomas Edison
Thomas Edison was a great businessman who held over one thousand patents for his amazing,
tremendously life changing inventions. His entrepreneurship began when he was only twelve
years old, when he began to sell his self published newspaper to the people who passed by him,
at the Grand Trunk Railroad. At this same exact railroad, he set up a lab and began
experimenting with chemicals. At the age of twenty two he moved to New York, where he
worked on his version of the stock ticker. Edison seemed to be a very jealous man, after all he did
make it his point, no matter what to stop Nikola Teslas altering currents system. He everything from
setting up propaganda , to starting something called the war of the currents. This means Thomas...

Thomas Edison was known for a many patented things, but was mostly know as a businessman.
He improved his career and lifeworks by copying other people s inventions and taking credit for
them. For example, he never gave credit to the other twenty two men, who had started working
on the light bulb, long before he had. The only reason he was recognized for this invention, is
because none of the other men were able to successfully make their ideas possible. This means
that the invention that he is most popular for is a sham. In the process of stealing the patent for
the lightbulb, he got himself sued. Nikola Tesla contributed the evolution of the Altering current
system, that is frequently used today. As a child he would see his mother, in her spare time,
work to improve various, small household utensils. Tesla moved to Budapest in his late teens
/early twenties, where he temporarily worked at a telephone exchange. Not too long after this
Tesla moved to America where he began working for Thomas Edison. Tesla was a man of many
inventions, and also was the exporter of Thomas Edison. He was hired by Edison to work in his
Manhattan headquarters, in 1884, not to long after he had moved into the united states. Many
people say that Nikola Tesla was by far, more brilliant than Thomas Edison would ever be. He
even filed for seven U.S. patents in the field of polyphase AC motors and power transmission.
People believed that Thomas Edison was somewhat of the power figure in

  • 3. Gang Vs Traditional Gang Defining gangs have been compared to packs, teams, and groups. Participants of gangs do not necessarily commit violent acts or commence in illegal matters. The National Gang Center has come to a consensus on defining gangs with the commonalities of three or more members between the ages of 12 through 24, shared identity, recognized by others as a gang or crew, has levels of organization, and usually involved in criminal activities (Shelden, Tracy, Brown, 2013). Some gangs are excluded from this definition due to not proportionate with their usual activities. Overall, we can consider gangs to be founded when members share similar characteristics and establish a symbol to represent their livelihood. Pictures 1 through 3 I found in various locations in Chattanooga relatively close to downtown area. These graffiti markings are found to belong to a graffiti crew that declares themselves as DIB which is an acronym for doin it blazed composed of graffiti artists such as Renik, Bern, Astro, and Spec (Reddit, 2013). This is not our traditional idea of a gang or gang members since they only commit acts of vandalism. However, without keeping in mind our idea of a traditional gang, we see this group has many of the aspects to be considered a gang. There are more than 3 members who have a shared... The 1968 Tet Offensive In The Vietnam War The 1968 Tet Offensive was a series of battles which took place during the Vietnam War where the North Vietnamese Army (NVA) and the National Liberation Front (NLF) attacked the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) and U.S. Forces in South Vietnam. This major offensive by the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (DRV) forces which were initiated on January 30th of 1968 in coordination with Tet, the Vietnamese New Year. The offensive is historically labeled as a military defeat for the DRV forces while ultimately being a strategic victory through it s ability to turn major American public opinion against support of the war effort in Vietnam. Johnson s decision to halt escalation after the Tet Offensivemarked a crucial turning point in American participation in the Vietnam War. It was reasonably assumed by the American public that an enemy in retreat could not launch such a large offensive, and inherently this caused great concern over the situation in Vietnam. • 6. The Struggle For Equality For Women In The 19th And 20th... During the 19th and 20th century, the suffragette groups used various militant and peaceful methods and tactics to achieve equality for women. These actions are clear inspirations in modern Australian feminism and society. 19th and 20th century Britain was a patriarchal society where women were perceived as second class citizens, not given many rights and additionally unequal to males despite their level of education, role and requirement to pay taxes. Society perceived women as child bearers and the property of males. They had no educational opportunities in academic fields such as law and science, unequal wage, limited economic rights under the Unito Caro law and additionally, were subject to violence and poor health rights. This resulted in the grievance amongst the women, and officially led to the struggle for equality before the law and society. During the struggle, three main women s suffrage groups were established; The National Union Of Women s Suffrage Societies (NUWSS), The Women s Social And Political Union (WSPU) and The Women s Freedom League (WFL). The groups common aim was to achieve the right to vote as they believed through this, they will be able to achieve other rights as their political input and involvement will be taken into account and not ridiculed due to their gender. A range of militant, peaceful and democratic methods and tactics were adopted to differentiate the groups and many of them are clear in modern Australian feminism through the ... Affirmative Action in the Workplace Affirmative Action in the Workplace Negative and Positive Rebecca Mikell Human Resources BUS362 Affirmative action in this time and place is a very hard area to keep in place when it comes to keeping jobs even at work for the employees. Sometimes this type of equality in the working world can be good and sometimes it can be bad, but it depends on how it is used that really makes how a person can feel when it comes to this type of treatment of employees no matter what color or sex a person is during this time period. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So to me that is not the right way to judge someone just because they are not the right sex for a job. There is one Bible verse that I have found that kind of deals with affirmative action in places and that is Acts 6:13 which says, Now, in these days when the disciples were increasing in number, a complaint by the Hellenists arose against the Hebrews because their widows were being neglected in the daily distribution. And the twelve summoned the full number of the disciples and said, It is not right that we should give up preaching the word of God to serve tables. Therefore, brothers, pick out from among you seven men of good repute, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we will appoint to this duty. (Holy Bible , NKJV) No employees, not matter what color, sex, or race should be treated unfairly in a work place. It is not the fair thing and to me you should not have to put any type of action in place to make people see what s right and wrong when it comes to hiring someone for a job in this society today. • 8. Design Of The Fourth Amendment Design of the Fourth Amendment The Fourth Amendment was not designed to serve as a fixed protection against government abuse. There is no amendment to the Bill of Rights whose contents should be taken at the face value they were written for. Keeping any amendment in its historical context would solidify the amendment as a defense for the historical incidents that occurred in late eighteenth century, rather than a guarantee that law enforcement officers act accordingly in present day. As times change and advances are made to technology, society identifies a need for changes within amendments; specifically the Fourth. Based on the majority opinions of landmark cases by the Supreme Court, we are able to predict where Fourth Amendment law is headed in connection with new technologies. Law is the formal embodiment of rules that legislators, regulators, and judges etch into statute books, administrative manuals, and judicial decisions. It is unavoidable and desirable to see the law change as technology becomes increasingly sophisticated (Larkin 2013). The invention of telecommunications systems in 1875, created a need for a law to protect the integrity of conversations. Likewise, the invention of electronic devices such as car spotlights, electronic listening devices, global positioning systems, and thermal imaging scanners brought upon a validated reason for the public to be concerned. • 9. What Is The Hunger In Nigeria Jocelyn Bennett Instructor Williamson ENG III 8 December 2017 The Hunger in Nigeria The world s hunger is ridiculous. There is more fruit in a rich man s shampoo than on a poor man s plate (The World S). Nigeria consists of 186 million people and of those 450,000 are malnourished children (Nigeria). A malnourished child is one not receiving the appropriate amount of nutrients in their system. In America, this can be from eating a substantial amount of unhealthy food or from not eating enough.. Unfortunately, the situation in Nigeria is strictly not obtaining enough food or any at all. Nigeria is only one of many that need help in getting food to its people. Therefore, the number of people with an inadequate amount of food in Nigeria is increasing due to conflict and needs to be decreased due to it causing a variety of diseases and making it easier for viruses to spread throughout the country. The question the whole world has been asking is why the amount of Nigeria s malnourished population has increased. It all begins with a group named Boko Haram. Boko Haram is a group similar to ISIS and has been capturing multiple cities throughout Nigeria. The group is making it extremely difficult for the natives to continue their farming, as well as their everyday life. The Nigerian government has been trying extremely hard to gain control of their cities once again (Conflict). However, there have been many times where Nigeria was too late. Boko Haram has harmed and killed over 100,000 people in Borno alone.(Nigeria) The group has managed to force over two million people to relocate their lives elsewhere within the region of Nigeria. This can be referred to as internally displacing someone (Tukur). Nigeria has been trying it s hardest to recapture the sites taken, especially Borno. Unfortunately, Boko Haram hasn t been stopped yet and the number of malnourished natives is rapidly increasing. According to Inland Valley Daily, each day, about 29,000 children worldwide die from hungerand preventable diseases such as malnutrition, malaria, diarrhea, and acute respiratory infections (Guerrero). Another problem that goes with the lack of hand hygiene compliance is the many excuses that healthcare workers use to avoid washing their hands. Hass and Larson summarize (2009) some of the barriers to adherence that healthcare workers use, a lack of access to hand washing sinks, insufficient time, skin irritations, and lack of accountability (Hass amp; Larson, 2009). Some solutions they explain to combat the barriers are to put more alcohol based sanitizers where sinks are not around and placing them all over the patient care areas also reduces time and can be a suitable way for proper hand hygiene if the healthcare worker s hand is not soiled. They also describe, Involve staff in trying several alcohol based hand sanitizers before deciding on one, and involve employee health services in creating a plan to manage hand skin problems among staff. The actual ego is the reality of that person. The ego ideal ultimately serves the pleasure principle. One of the opposing drives Freud presents is the drive for pleasure. His ideas of actual love relate to narcissism in regards to the understanding of love. In other words, love and narcissism seem to go hand in hand. The concept of narcissism was developed in part by studying psychosis and, pragmatically, narcissism explained the intractability of psychosis to psychoanalysis (Sharpless, 211). Sharpless uses Freud s theories of narcissism to not only report the facts, but to use his theories in action. Where does love come from? Where does narcissism come from? In this essay, Sharpless states the love derives from narcissism, an idea that is supported by Freud s theories. The use of Freud in this essay concerning romantic love leads to the conclusion that love comes from the unconscious. Our ego believes that it is controlling our thoughts and actions. However, it is likely that the unconscious makes the ego believe this and instead, controls what we think, say, and do without our conscious recognition. If love is connected to narcissism, Sharpless theorizes that actual love is connected to pain for the lover. In her book, Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen demonstrates the different kinds of these chracteristics through each character. Lizzy, Jane, and Darcy are all completely different characters who show their pride and prejudice in completely different ways. Since the very beginning of the book, Elizabeth Bennet, who is also known as Lizzy, was very quick to judge, and her prejudice led her to believe in the wrong people. When Lizzy met Mr. Wickham she instantly believed his story about Darcy; perhaps it was because she already disliked him. He told her that he had grown up with Mr. Darcy and that he was quite prideful. Wickham continued to say that Darcy had wronged him in a tremendous way and of course Lizzy... Elizabeth and all the other people in the town saw him as prideful; however, Darcy shows later on in the book that he is just not very good with people. He explained to Elizabeth that the story Wickham told her was actually a lie. Darcy began with the true story like this: he gave Wickham money to study law but Wickham spent all of his money on other things. Coming back to Darcy, he asked for more money and after refusing, Wickham deceived Darcy s sister into elopement. When Darcy found out, he convinced Georgiana, his sister, not to follow through. After finding out this story and hearing Darcy explain his past actions to her, Lizzy realized how wrong she was and that she let her prejudice get in the way. After reading and understanding the whole story, the reader can tell which characters let their pride or prejudice consume them. Elizabeth always judged people by their first impressions. She began to love Wickham who turned out to be a fraud, and she hated Darcy all because he was shy and misunderstood. Prejudice in Elizabeth s case is in fact bad. Although, it did take nine months and a lot of effort, it was still complete all thanks to my amazing mother (and partially my dad, too). Unfortunately, their mission wasn t quite the success. They had to fertilize an egg, form a fetus, then wait nine months until the baby comes out healthily. My parents got the first two steps done with no problem, but only partially completed the last step. My mother held the fetus inside of her successfully for the nine months, but when it was time for it to come out, it was nearly dead! It had its umbilical cord wrapped around its neck, suffocating it for the whole time and no one knew anything about it. Can you believe that?! I ... It makes me extremely uncomfortable when they do. Others, such as friends or educators, are welcomed to call me nearly anything. Some of my friends are calling me Mitch or an odd sounding way to pronounce my actual name. Grandma Mitch (an inside joke), and Mom, also stuck with me for awhile. At this same exact railroad, he set up a lab and began experimenting with chemicals. At the age of twenty two he moved to New York, where he worked on his version of the stock ticker. Thomas Edison was known for a many patented things, but was mostly know as a businessman. He improved his career and lifeworks by copying other people s inventions and taking credit for them. For example, he never gave credit to the other twenty two men, who had started working on the light bulb, long before he had. The only reason he was recognized for this invention, is because none of the other men were able to successfully make their ideas possible. This means that the invention that he is most popular for is a sham. In the process of stealing the patent for the lightbulb, he got himself sued. Nikola Tesla contributed the evolution of the Altering current system, that is frequently used today. As a child he would see his mother, in her spare time, work to improve various, small household utensils. Tesla moved to Budapest in his late teens /early twenties, where he temporarily worked at a telephone exchange. Not too long after this Tesla moved to America where he began working for Thomas Edison. Tesla was a man of many inventions, and also was the exporter of Thomas Edison. He was hired by Edison to work in his Manhattan headquarters, in 1884, not to long after he had moved into the united states.
