Guatemal A Large Latin American Country
Guatemala once was a magnificent vacation destination for many Americans. Now, many Americans
are choosing a different getaway.Guatemala has seen many changes to daily life due to drug cartels
and street gangs. Drug cartels and street gangs have been taking over the cities and rural areas. These
two very dangerous groups of people have been threatening some people and killing others. Many
families have to pay to guarantee a safe life. If a family cannot pay, they have to escape their
homeland. The cartels and gangs ruined many families and traumatized many more. The citizens need
help but, not from only themselves. The government needs to help and realize that there is a problem
that can ruin their country. The government needs to take control of the problems that the cartels and
gangs create.
Guatemala is a large Latin American country with only a population of 12,701,000. This country is
sometimes misjudged because many people see it as a tourist destination, but sadly it is a very
dangerous place to be. The capital of this beautiful Caribbean state, Guatemala City has a high crime
rate. Many times the crimes committed are shootings and drug trafficking, but the crimes can be more
than that. Most crimes are encouraged by the cartels that the government cannot control. (Guatemala
Facts 1)
Guatemala s drug and gang issues did not originate in their homeland. Mexico had a huge influence on
the drug issues. A state patrol office states, Members of the Zetas, another

Title IX Responsibilities
Dr. Myers, I brought this to Emily s attention last Tuesday in the presence of my Res. Life area team,
but I m not sure if I communicated the severity of the matter clearly. I wanted to bring it directly to
your attention to give you the opportunity to respond lawfully and in Christ like integrity before
federal accountability is pursued. Toccoa Falls College is currently in violation of Title IX. The Title
IX coordinator is the responsible employee of the recipient with major responsibility for Title IX
compliance efforts. The Title IX coordinator s responsibilities are critical to the development,
implementation, and monitoring of meaningful efforts to comply with Title IX. Therefore, Federal
funding agencies must inform their recipients of the following obligations under the Title IX ... Show

residents have brought to my attention concerns of possible Title IX breaches in matters of recent and
past student discipline proceedings. Violation of Title IX in any capacity can result in lawsuits filed by
students and/or employees as well as massive fines, and, ultimately, loss of accreditation for the
institution, particularly if investigations reveal any other unlawful activity. Loss of accreditation
would result in the loss of all federal financial aid. Enrollment, retention, and faculty employment
would plummet dramatically. I say these things not to create fear or resistance, but to create awareness
of the seriousness of upholding Title IX in

Chamoro Language Essay
Although not all communication is linguistic, language is by far the most powerful and versatile
medium of communication, all known human groups possess language (Gumperz 1968). Chamorro is
an Austronesian language spoken by about fifty thousand people, in the Marina Islands. It is the
language of Micronesia with the largest number of speakers and one of Micronesia s two most
endangered languages. The Chamorro language is spoken in the Marina Islands and by many
Chamorro s in the western states of the United States and has been a powerful symbol of cultural
identity for more than three hundred years. In my first research paper, I focused on the present day
Chamorro language and Guam. Throughout this research I will dive into globalization and
revitalization of the Chamorro language as a whole. We will take a step back into time and develop an
understanding of where the Chamorro language thrived from and how to keep it alive.
To begin, Chamorro s are sometimes known as Cahmorus, Chamorris, Chanislos, Tjamoros, or Taotao
Tano, are the indigenous people of the Mariana Islands in the Eastern Pacific Ocean (Figure 1.1). The
majority of Chamorro s are Roman Catholic, with many traditional beliefs and taboos mixed with the
Catholic teachings. The homeland of the Chamorro s now forms in the United States territories of
Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands. The Northern Marianas were included in United Nations
Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands in 1947. Guam was governed by

Social Structure Of France During The French Revolution Essay
The French Revolution was a time of period where social and political was a disruption in France that
lasted from 1789 until 1799. This time of period affected Social Structure of France prior to the
French Revolution. The factors that caused this revolution was due to having a bad government
system, weak superiority, and inequality of the classes of people in France during the war. In this
research, I will define and explain how Social Structure contributed to the French Revolution
Resentment of royal authoritarianism. The three estates that social structure consists of are first estate
which are the clergies, second estate known as the Nobleman, and third estate which are the
Bourgeoisie, peasants, and workers. The Revolution did not omit sharp distinctions among the social
groups, neither did it alter the distribution of wealth. This caused them to divide into these three
groups called as estates.
The French Revolution were influenced by many factors such as the Enlightenment ideals, concepts of
popular sovereignty, and unchallengeable rights. France s costly involvement in the Revolution and
excessive spending by King Louis XVI and his predecessor had left the country on the brink of
bankruptcy. Not only were the royal coffers exhausted, but two decades of poor cereal harvests,
drought, cattle disease and skyrocketing bread prices had kindled unrest among peasants and the urban
poor. (history.com).These actions played a critical role in shaping modern nations. As

Alternative Sources Of Alternative Energy
Introduction Since the industrial age, fossil fuels have been used as a source of energy and power. The
fossil fuels are used and converted into coal, oils, and gasses. The products of fossil fuels are mostly
Carbon, which is harmful to the environment, leading to global warming and climate change, and O
zone destruction. These conditions cause global temperature increase, ocean acidification, rising sea
levels, health problems due to pollution, and the destruction of ecosystems (climate.nasa.gov).
Considering these issues, alternative energy sources are something that can be used to help combat
harmful fossil fuels and lessen humanity s Carbon footprint (the amount of carbon dioxide and other
carbon compounds emitted due to the consumption of fossil fuels by a person, group, etc.). There are
multiple alternative and renewable energy sources available on the market today. Some of these
include: solar panels, geothermal systems, and wind turbines; However, another alternative energy
source could be harvesting lightning. Unlike the previous alternative energy sources, lightning can
produce large amounts of power in a single strike. A single lightning bolt carries enough energy
comparable to the energy stored in 145 liters of petrol (Malavika1, Vishal, p. 23). The lightning does
not have to be built or mass produced, only the system used to harvest it. Harvesting the power of
lightning would allow for a decrease on the reliance of fossil fuels for power as well as help solve

When writing, focus on the analysis, and I don t mean restate the same piece of commentary twice.
Make sure to have lots of ideas before hand and don t fall into Plot Summary Syndrome. Biology: B i
o i s a S h a f t is what many people will say. It s really not if you do all your work and read the
textbook. You will have DQs, so don t take your notecards lightly. Biology has a lot of memorization
so you really need to SLEEP before taking the tests. (Don t be like me, I stayed up until 4am studying
for the first bio test and got a 79) I also recommend you take the time on your long commute and
watch the videos, they re a little lighter than the dense textbook and I find them a great help.
Generally, the quizzes will be mainly based on facts and memoization, while the tests are based more
on analysis and application. The IBET Paper: DO NOT TAKE THIS LIGHTLY OR YOUR GRADE
WILL SUFFER. You will take an L for the first assignment. Everyone did, this is just a wakeup call
telling you that you cannot BS this paper and APA formatting matters a lot. Pick a topic that you have
genuine interest in. This year, almost everyone got inconclusive results and it was a hot mess. At least
to us, the teachers and other adults thought it was pretty great. Anyways, never procrastinate until the
last minute on this paper, it will show and you re end up with a 9/15 or some other unsavory grade. If

Brief Summary Of Mark Twain s Into The Wild
Buck lived at a big house in the sun kissed Santa Clara Valley (Pg.3 ) Buck lives a very pampered life
with Judge Miller, his wife, and two sons. One night Manuel, one of the gardener s helpers who loved
to play the Chinese lottery, dognapped Buck, for what he thought was a stroll, to the train station.
Where Manuel tied a rope around Buck s neck and told the man he was talking to , Twist it, an you ll

During that time Buck had gone from being put on a train, fairey, and then another train to Seattle.
After the train ride, Buck was taken to the man in the red sweater. Once Buck was let out of the

Buck made a great leader, he disciplined when needed but not too harshly, and he kept everyone in
their place. With buck being leader the sled team achieved an average of 40 miles for 14 days. The
team arrived at Skagway, where Francois called buck over to him, threw his arms around him, wept
over him. And that was the last of Francois and Perrault. (Pg.48) After that a Scotch half breed took
charge of them.
Only after a few days of rest the dogs, the Scotch half breed, his companions, and about a dozen other
sled dogs were back on the trail to Dawson. One day was very like the others. At a certain time each
morning the cooks turned fires, fires were built, and breakfast was eaten. Then, while some broke
camp, others harnessed the dogs... (Pg.48 49) Sometimes when Buck laid by the fire, Buck would see a
man from the stone age. Sometimes Buck would see himself with the man. Thirty days after they left
dawson they arrived at Skagway. Three days passed when two men bought them. Their names were
Charles and Hal. Charles also had a wife whose name was Mercedes, who was also Hal s sister.
Charles and Hal were very incompetent. They had to get rid of most of their supplies on the sled.
Charles and Hal then went out to buy six more dogs to make the sled team become made of a dozen
dogs. Because of how many dogs there were the food portions had to get smaller. Dub was the first to
go, then Billee, then Koona, and more. With all the dogs dropping like flies, they

Essay On Laparoscopic Hysterectomy
Introduction: Hysterectomy assisted by laparoscopic techniques has been used for 25 years and
recently also by a robot assisted procedure. The robot assisted procedure has been shown to have
certain advantages over conventional laparoscopic hysterectomy, as it is associated with shorter length
of stay (LOS) and fewer conversions to laparotomy 1. Both conventional laparoscopic hysterectomy
and the robot assisted procedure have many advantages over open surgery, as it significantly reduces
the need for blood transfusion as well as pain and the amount of analgesia used 2. However, well
performed studies with multimodal pain management are needed in order to reduce the amount of
opioids used and thereby reducing the well known side effects, such as postoperative nausea and
vomiting (PONV) 3. The transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block is increasingly used as pain
management after abdominal surgical procedures 4 7. Three studies have evaluated the effect of TAP
block after total laparoscopic hysterectomy with varying results 8 10. No studies on TAP block after
robot assisted hysterectomy have been published. The main objective of our study was to ... Show

In our study we placed the TAP block just after the patient was anaesthetized, prior to surgery. TAP
block can be placed either before surgery, at the end of surgery before awakening the patient, or as a
rescue block if needed at the PACU. Placement prior to surgery has the advantage that the transversus
abdominis plane might be easier to visualize with ultrasound, as surgery can make the ultrasound
picture more blurred due to oedema. The disadvantages for placing TAP block prior to surgery may be
the time limit factor, as the duration has been described to be 8 to 24 hours in previous studies. Thus,
prolonged surgery time will reduce the postoperative duration of the block. No randomiserandomized
studies comparing TAP block placed prior or after surgery are

How It Feels to Be Colored Me, written by Zora Neale Hurston. Occasionally, once in a great while, a
unique person comes along. Zora Neale Hurston was one of those bigger than life people. She would
have told you so herself. She was just as she should have been. She was, Zora. When she was young,
Zora was already full of who she was, with strong hints of the amazing person she would become. She
did not notice the differences between the racial societies. Her hometown, of Eatonville, FL., was an
all black community. She felt the only difference between the whites and the blacks were the whites

agree and need not say more about Zora s following observation. Sometimes, I feel discriminated

The Rhetorical Analysis Of Winston Churchill s Speech
Winston Churchill, a legendary Prime Minister, led Great Britain through some of its darkest times:
World War II. The speech he gave to the House of Commons on June 4, 1940, aptly nicknamed the We
shall fight on the beaches speech, carried great importance to his people. In the days before the
speech, the British faced a heavy military loss in Belgium and France. Belgium surrendered to the
Nazis, stranding numerous French and British troops at Dunkirk and neighboring beaches in France,
fully exposed to the advance of the Nazi war machine. With the ocean as their only feasible direction
of retreat, the Navy organized all its resources to pull the men out from Dunkirk over the English
Channel and bring them back to safety in England. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The country rejoiced, flooded with solace. By acknowledging the potential military disaster, catalyzed
by another country, Churchill emphasizes the significance of the successful withdrawal of his troops,
inspiring a sense of immense nationalism and pride in his audience. He perfectly seizes the
opportunity before him, as he knew that he had to stir his people to rise up and rebuild in order to win
his war. Churchill s ultimate goal was to keep fighting until either his country was destroyed or had
vanquished his enemies, and this escape, solely due to German error, provided a chance to bring the
British to victory. He knew the situation was still dire for him and his country. The British were vastly
outnumbered, and the loss of the Belgian army dealt a blow to the Allies. The speech was meant to
prime the British people for what was to come By praising the feats accomplished by his compatriots
and describing the spirit of their actions, Churchill excites the audience s sense of civic pride and duty.
The master of rhetoric, a popular, respected man, honored the individuals who persevered in the face
of adversity, and commends each wing of his military as well as the many civilians who participated
in the effort. In laudation of He continues to lionize the Royal Army in allusion to King

Sexual Assault And Sexual Harassment
Women in combat is a sensitive topic throughout the Armed Forces. Although in January 2013 the
Military made the decision to end the ban on women in combat, many still oppose this decision. Many
Combat jobs have very strict requirements, such as physical abilities. There are many concerns of
women being able to fulfill these types of requirements. Another big concern is the risk of sexual
assault and sexual harassment, many people feel that women in combat jobs are at a higher risk of
being subjected to these types of things. The safety of our soldiers whether male or female is a big
concern for everybody, no matter their position on this particular topic. Women are thought to be
sensitive creatures, the worry of their sensitive nature in a combat zone might hinder the mission.
Completing the mission is and will always be a major requirement. If a question of mental and
physical ability can be proven to complete the job requirements, should this still be an issue? The
possibilities of sexual harassment and assault are very serious. Unfortunately, this is an issue whether
in the military or not. Sexual crimes happening in college are a serious issue, as a society we cannot
tell women not to go to college because there is a greater possibility of being sexually assaulted or
harassed. If a person has all credentials, and qualifications to perform a job, they should be allowed to
regardless of gender, and safety concerns should enforce preventive measures so that all

Vehicle Pollution Essay
1.6 Vehicular Pollution Problems in India
Vehicles are one of the major sources of air pollution in major cities. The air pollution due to vehicles
can be attributed to following:
a) High vehicle density in Indian urban centres result in air pollution build up near the roadways and
at traffic intersections.
b) Older vehicles are predominant in vehicle vintage. These older vehicles are grossly polluting
though in cities like Delhi grossly polluting vehicles have been phased out.
c) Inadequate inspection and maintenance facilities result in high emission of air pollutants from
vehicles. Emission can be reduced by proper and regular inspection and maintenance of vehicles.
d) There is large number of two stroke two wheelers in most of the cities and these two wheelers are a
significant contributor of air pollution.
e) Adulteration of fuel and fuel products also result in high emissions from vehicles.
f) Improper traffic management system and road conditions also result in build up of air pollutants
near the roadways as the emissions are higher when the vehicle is idling.
g) Absence of effective mass rapid transport system and intra city railway networks has resulted in
people using their own vehicles for commuting to workplace. This has resulted in uncontrolled growth
of vehicles.
h) High population exodus to the urban centres has also resulted in increase in number of vehicles
resulting in high levels of vehicular air pollution.

The Negro Speaks Of Rivers Essay
Slavery has influenced how people of African descent went forth and lived life. In the poem The
Negro Speaks of Rivers , Langston Hughes tells a story of the black man s journey to America while
trying to hold on to his past. Hughes uses imagery and tone to create a picture that illustrated racial
pride and dignity. Phillis Wheatley, On Being Brought from Africa to America describes the positivity
of being an American slave and the perks of Christianity. The major theme that runs throughout these
two poems are how someone views their own race. Though each poem is set around the same time
period, we can see two different effects of slavery and it could change in an person. Wheatley s On
Being Brought from Africa to America has a lot of literary devices within it and reading it out loud
really helps you find them. There is some end rhyme like eye die ; land understand ; and cain train .
Lines 7 and 8 shows a heroic couplet; Remember, Christians, Negros, black as Cain,/ May be refin d,
and join th angelic train. Another big literary device that could not be overlooked is personification. In
the first line of the poem, the speaker personifies mercy . The speaker is using the term mercy in a
biblical notion and in that sense mercy could not have physically picked the speaker up and carry him
or her over to America. In Langston Hughes The Negro speaks of Rivers , the speaker sets a tone
while makes a connect between him and the earth he lived on.

Abstract This paper presents the original findings of an approach to adopting the bit stream signal to
control a system. It contains the initial design process and simulations of a bit stream based PID
controller to control and stabilize the output of a proposed Capacitive Power Transfer system in the
discrete time domain. Processing The simulated results use MATLAB s Simulink and illustrate the
potential performance of the controller. Compared against simulations of a similar nature in
continuous time, the bit stream implemented system yields near identical results.

Chin My Primary Country For This Stock Trak Simulation
For International Financial Management, we were asked to start a STOCK TRAK portfolio to
simulate managing an actual portfolio. Each of our portfolios were given $500,000. Each portfolio
was also allowed to make purchases on margin. This allowed us to invest a maximum of $1,000,000.
As a part of the simulation, we were asked to invest in only foreign securities/ADRs. We also needed
to pick a primary country for our investments. This would be the country we would invest a majority
of our capital in, most of our trading should occur with this country s stocks. I chose China as my
primary country for this STOCK TRAK simulation.
Background of China:
China is located in the eastern part of Asia. China has a couple of different climates which include
tropical and subarctic. The country is made up of mountainous areas as well as hilly and desert areas.
Because of the diverse regions there are many natural resources that come from China. Some of these
are; coal, tin, zinc, mercury, iron ore, petroleum, lead, and aluminum. The country is also known to
have the highest potential for hydropower. Although China has many positives because of their
commodities, there are also negative factors they have to face. These include natural disasters like
typhoons and earthquakes, but they also include environmental issues like air pollution and water
shortage which could affect their economy (World Economic Factbook).

Analysis Of The Book Cold Mountain
Symbolism is the idea of representing things by using symbols or devoting things with a symbolic
meaning or character. Symbolism can range from something miniscule or even something broad to
something very specific, as long as it has some connection with something else or someone else.
Charles Frazier, author of Cold Mountain, exemplifies quite a few examples of symbolism. From the
crows to the roads, and even the title itself, the novel shows show many different points of symbolism.
As the book goes on, the amount of symbolism appears, making the character and the symbolism
more understand and attention grabbing towards the reader making them not want to put the book
down. When people think crows they think annoying black birds that try to steal food from gardens,
but in Cold Mountain, it is a big part of the story, as well as a reoccurring symbol within the novel.
The reader first reads about the crows right when the book begins, when Inman was younger and in
school. When he was just a little kid in school, he was being mischievous and decided to throw his hat
out the window, but when it landed it took a shape of something. It landed far out across the
playground at the edge of the hayfield and rested there black as the shadow of a crow squatted on the
ground (Frazier 5). In this quote, it is odd that a young age he sees a crow just from a hat, but it does
show early on, that there is some sort of connection between Inman and crows. Although the first

The And Progression Of Schizophrenia
Two Hit Model of Schizophrenia, Discussion, Criticism, and Application to The Onset and
Progression of Schizophrenia
LA14495
University of Maryland Baltimore County
December 2016
Abstract
The purpose of this paper will be to discuss the two hit model of schizophrenia, including what it is,
how it may inform treatment and prevention of schizophrenia, how it applies to schizophrenia for the
duration of onset and progression, and how various primary sources support or challenge the model.
We are finding that despite some inconsistencies between numerous findings and the model, the model
serves as a suitable general explanation of schizophrenia onset and progression.
The two hit model of schizophrenia proposes that disturbances to central nervous system
development, leaves a person exposed to the onset of schizophrenia symptoms caused by various gene
environmental interactions. The disturbances to central nervous system development are the first hit in

The Importance Of Ethical And Legal Rights Versus...
Childhood vaccinations have made headlines year after year since the beginning of time. Whether if it
s a moral or legal issue, it s a safety issue to the public. According to the Centers for Disease Control,
a total of 154 cases of the measles were reported in the United States, from January 1, 2015 to
February 20, 2015. As of February 23rd, 2015 Sandee LaMotte, a CNN reporter, explained via the
Centers for Disease Control has mentioned that the measles outbreak is continuing to grow daily. To
address this particular issue is to thoroughly explain the importance of ethical and legal rights versus
governmental officials laws and regulations. Vaccines are made up of bacteria, viruses or other
antigens that are given to stimulate the immune system to create antibodies which will try to prevent
future infections with the disease. The importance of vaccinating today s children is to protect
everyone around them and to protect our future generations to come. The CDC issued that 118 of the
reported 154 cases are connected to a large, continuous multi state measles outbreak that started in the
Disneyland amusement park in December of 2014. In connection to the Disneyland case, two other
ongoing outbreaks are located in Illinois with 14 cases linked to a daycare center, and Nevada that has
six cases of the measles. The majority of people who had developed the measles were unvaccinated. In
today s news, it is no secret how Americans feel about vaccinating their children. Barbara

How to Buy Stylish Beach Dresses
Going to the beach requires a special kind of attire. Although wearing a bathing suit makes sense,
some people prefer to cover up at least part of the time. This is where cute and stylish beach dresses
come into play. They feature lightweight materials, short lengths, and attractive designs, and they keep
the body covered just enough to make women feel comfortable without needlessly weighing them
down in yards of material.
Beach Kaftans
The kaftan is the epitome of feminine beauty. The style originated in Pakistan, Persia, and other
Middle Eastern countries. The original kaftan dresses were full length with yards of flowing,
lightweight fabric. Beach kaftans, however, are much shorter and have less fabric. Some are even see
through, which is perfectly suitable when worn over a bathing suit. Some beach dresses have large
pockets that blend into the sides, and most beach kaftans have sleeves that reach the elbows and
billow out. They come in all sorts of vibrant colours and patterns for the summer.
Maxi Beach Dresses
Maxi beach dresses are long and come in a

Physics Of A Baseball Player Analysis
As in most racquet/bat/stick dons, a baseball player s goal is to convey the greatest measure of energy
conceivable at effect. This energy is then exchanged to the ball, quickening it to a high velocity
(Adair, 2002). The direction and speed of the batted ball are the essential contributing components to
the consequence of the hit. A batted ball with high speed can bring about one of at least two successful
results, depending upon the ball s direction. In the event that the direction of the ball is higher, the ball
can arrive somewhere down in the outfield for an additional fair hit or perhaps go over the wall for a
home run. These outcomes are very great for the batter.
Energy is made by the player through his use of the kinetic chain (Race,

Kodak Vs. Digital Photography
In consumer film photography, Kodak was clearly the market leading incumbent. Based on the
information provided in the case it was certainly possible for Kodak to have become the leader in
consumer digital photography if they had followed the actions described below. Kodak s top
management and its internal research team had anticipated the threat from the digital photography to
their film photography business way back in 1980s. In fact, Kodak introduced the world s first
electronic image sensor, which is the most crucial component of the digital photography. They also
had developed numerous patented technologies in digital photography by 1989, many of which are
built into the digital cameras today. Despite this strong hold on intellectual properties in core digital
photography technologies, Kodak succumbed to new entrants in consumer digital photography due to
several intrinsic management flaws in its technology innovation and adoption strategies that were
certainly avoidable. Kodak should have leveraged its numerous patented technologies to gain the first
mover advantage in digital photography, instead of waiting until 1990s to release its first digital
camera. In the early adoption stage, Kodak should have strongly emphasized on product development
and manufacturing capabilities for a first generation, cost effective, and marketable digital camera
irrespective of its quality and appeal to their consumers. Kodak was slow to adopt this new
technological change

The Prevalence Of Parkinson s Disease
Individuals worldwide are affected by Parkinson s disease. Parkinson s is a chronic disorder with
onset of symptoms occurring at a mean age of 60 years. The prevalence of Parkinson s increases with
age and may affect up to 5% of individuals over 79 years old. (Tosin, Campos, Andrade, Oliveira,
Santana, 2015). Those affected by the disease, experience impairments in movement, balance, and
have difficulty performing everyday life tasks. Due to posture deficits and gait dysfunction, patients
with Parkinson s have an increased risk of falling which may lead to secondary health problems.
Although exercise programs have been implemented to decrease falls, few programs are proven
successful. (Li, Harmer, Fitzgerald, Eckstrom, Stock, Galver, Maddalozzo, Batya, 2012). In order to
find an effective program in decreasing falls, nurses are performing various rehabilitation
interventions that focus on improving postural stability. Two examples of interventions include Qi
Gong and Tai Chi. Qi Gong is a mindful exercise that effects neuroplasticity in the brain and can have
an effect on the postural instability that Parkinson s patients experience (Loftus, 2014). Tai Chi is a
balance based exercise that may have an effect on muscle strength and stability for those living with
Parkinson s (Li, et al., 2012). Qi Gong and Tai Chi are two rehabilitation interventions that nurses are
implementing to prove whether or not complementary exercise programs improve posture enough to

Arum Shinrikyo, also Known as Aleph
Roughly nineteen years ago, on March 20th 1995, five Tokyo subway lines underwent a chemical
attack which involved the deadly poison known as sarin. This was considered to be the biggest
catastrophe Japan had seen since World War II. When the gas was released thousands of daily subway
goer s mornings took an awful turn. This violent terrorist act killed thirteen people, left 50 severely
injured, and thousands with temporary vision problems. The perpetrators had fled the scene with no
trace. Although the Japanese Government did believe it was committed by members of Aum
Shinrikyo. Aum Shinrikyo also known as Aleph is a controversial cult. They have had a history of
previous terrorist attacks. Founder, Shoko Asahara, has declared himself Christ , outlined a doomsday
prophecy, which included a Third World War, and described a final conflict culminating in a nuclear
Armageddon . This attack was another one of his crazy ideas which was labeled as domestic terrorism.
Ten members of the cult carried out the plan. Between 6:00 am and 6:30 am on the day of the attack
these ten members left Aum headquarters as they targeted the Tokyo Subway Network. In Tokyo, the
subways are the number one choice of commute. It is said that when waiting for the train your feet
might not even reach the ground as you are stuck standing on other people s feet. Thousands of people
lined the trains and the subways this morning as it was rush hour making things worse.

relevant because they extended my understanding of coastal management and helped in developing
reasonable strategies to keep our valuable coast landforms. The places that are being investigated for

  • 2. Guatemal A Large Latin American Country Guatemala once was a magnificent vacation destination for many Americans. Now, many Americans are choosing a different getaway.Guatemala has seen many changes to daily life due to drug cartels and street gangs. Drug cartels and street gangs have been taking over the cities and rural areas. These two very dangerous groups of people have been threatening some people and killing others. Many families have to pay to guarantee a safe life. If a family cannot pay, they have to escape their homeland. The cartels and gangs ruined many families and traumatized many more. The citizens need help but, not from only themselves. The government needs to help and realize that there is a problem that can ruin their country. The government needs to take control of the problems that the cartels and gangs create. Guatemala is a large Latin American country with only a population of 12,701,000. This country is sometimes misjudged because many people see it as a tourist destination, but sadly it is a very dangerous place to be. The capital of this beautiful Caribbean state, Guatemala City has a high crime rate. Many times the crimes committed are shootings and drug trafficking, but the crimes can be more than that. Most crimes are encouraged by the cartels that the government cannot control. (Guatemala Facts 1) Guatemala s drug and gang issues did not originate in their homeland. • 4. Chamoro Language Essay Although not all communication is linguistic, language is by far the most powerful and versatile medium of communication, all known human groups possess language (Gumperz 1968). Chamorro is an Austronesian language spoken by about fifty thousand people, in the Marina Islands. It is the language of Micronesia with the largest number of speakers and one of Micronesia s two most endangered languages. The Chamorro language is spoken in the Marina Islands and by many Chamorro s in the western states of the United States and has been a powerful symbol of cultural identity for more than three hundred years. In my first research paper, I focused on the present day Chamorro language and Guam. Throughout this research I will dive into globalization and revitalization of the Chamorro language as a whole. We will take a step back into time and develop an understanding of where the Chamorro language thrived from and how to keep it alive. To begin, Chamorro s are sometimes known as Cahmorus, Chamorris, Chanislos, Tjamoros, or Taotao Tano, are the indigenous people of the Mariana Islands in the Eastern Pacific Ocean (Figure 1.1). The majority of Chamorro s are Roman Catholic, with many traditional beliefs and taboos mixed with the Catholic teachings. This time of period affected Social Structure of France prior to the French Revolution. The factors that caused this revolution was due to having a bad government system, weak superiority, and inequality of the classes of people in France during the war. In this research, I will define and explain how Social Structure contributed to the French Revolution Resentment of royal authoritarianism. The three estates that social structure consists of are first estate which are the clergies, second estate known as the Nobleman, and third estate which are the Bourgeoisie, peasants, and workers. The Revolution did not omit sharp distinctions among the social groups, neither did it alter the distribution of wealth. This caused them to divide into these three groups called as estates. The French Revolution were influenced by many factors such as the Enlightenment ideals, concepts of popular sovereignty, and unchallengeable rights. France s costly involvement in the Revolution and excessive spending by King Louis XVI and his predecessor had left the country on the brink of bankruptcy. Not only were the royal coffers exhausted, but two decades of poor cereal harvests, drought, cattle disease and skyrocketing bread prices had kindled unrest among peasants and the urban poor. • 6. Alternative Sources Of Alternative Energy Introduction Since the industrial age, fossil fuels have been used as a source of energy and power. The fossil fuels are used and converted into coal, oils, and gasses. The products of fossil fuels are mostly Carbon, which is harmful to the environment, leading to global warming and climate change, and O zone destruction. These conditions cause global temperature increase, ocean acidification, rising sea levels, health problems due to pollution, and the destruction of ecosystems (climate.nasa.gov). Considering these issues, alternative energy sources are something that can be used to help combat harmful fossil fuels and lessen humanity s Carbon footprint (the amount of carbon dioxide and other carbon compounds emitted due to the consumption of fossil fuels by a person, group, etc.). There are multiple alternative and renewable energy sources available on the market today. Some of these include: solar panels, geothermal systems, and wind turbines; However, another alternative energy source could be harvesting lightning. Unlike the previous alternative energy sources, lightning can produce large amounts of power in a single strike. A single lightning bolt carries enough energy comparable to the energy stored in 145 liters of petrol (Malavika1, Vishal, p. 23). The lightning does not have to be built or mass produced, only the system used to harvest it. Harvesting the power of lightning would allow for a decrease on the reliance of fossil fuels for power as well as help solve ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Essay On Laparoscopic Hysterectomy Introduction: Hysterectomy assisted by laparoscopic techniques has been used for 25 years and recently also by a robot assisted procedure. The robot assisted procedure has been shown to have certain advantages over conventional laparoscopic hysterectomy, as it is associated with shorter length of stay (LOS) and fewer conversions to laparotomy 1. Both conventional laparoscopic hysterectomy and the robot assisted procedure have many advantages over open surgery, as it significantly reduces the need for blood transfusion as well as pain and the amount of analgesia used 2. However, well performed studies with multimodal pain management are needed in order to reduce the amount of opioids used and thereby reducing the well known side effects, such as postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) 3. The transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block is increasingly used as pain management after abdominal surgical procedures 4 7. The speech he gave to the House of Commons on June 4, 1940, aptly nicknamed the We shall fight on the beaches speech, carried great importance to his people. In the days before the speech, the British faced a heavy military loss in Belgium and France. Belgium surrendered to the Nazis, stranding numerous French and British troops at Dunkirk and neighboring beaches in France, fully exposed to the advance of the Nazi war machine. Although in January 2013 the Military made the decision to end the ban on women in combat, many still oppose this decision. Many Combat jobs have very strict requirements, such as physical abilities. Another big concern is the risk of sexual assault and sexual harassment, many people feel that women in combat jobs are at a higher risk of being subjected to these types of things. • 14. The Negro Speaks Of Rivers Essay Slavery has influenced how people of African descent went forth and lived life. In the poem The Negro Speaks of Rivers , Langston Hughes tells a story of the black man s journey to America while trying to hold on to his past. Hughes uses imagery and tone to create a picture that illustrated racial pride and dignity. Phillis Wheatley, On Being Brought from Africa to America describes the positivity of being an American slave and the perks of Christianity. The major theme that runs throughout these two poems are how someone views their own race. Though each poem is set around the same time period, we can see two different effects of slavery and it could change in an person. Wheatley s On Being Brought from Africa to America has a lot of literary devices within it and reading it out loud really helps you find them. There is some end rhyme like eye die ; land understand ; and cain train . Lines 7 and 8 shows a heroic couplet; Remember, Christians, Negros, black as Cain,/ May be refin d, and join th angelic train. Another big literary device that could not be overlooked is personification. In the first line of the poem, the speaker personifies mercy . The speaker is using the term mercy in a biblical notion and in that sense mercy could not have physically picked the speaker up and carry him or her over to America. Symbolism can range from something miniscule or even something broad to something very specific, as long as it has some connection with something else or someone else. Charles Frazier, author of Cold Mountain, exemplifies quite a few examples of symbolism. From the crows to the roads, and even the title itself, the novel shows show many different points of symbolism. As the book goes on, the amount of symbolism appears, making the character and the symbolism more understand and attention grabbing towards the reader making them not want to put the book down. When people think crows they think annoying black birds that try to steal food from gardens, but in Cold Mountain, it is a big part of the story, as well as a reoccurring symbol within the novel. The reader first reads about the crows right when the book begins, when Inman was younger and in school. When he was just a little kid in school, he was being mischievous and decided to throw his hat out the window, but when it landed it took a shape of something. It landed far out across the playground at the edge of the hayfield and rested there black as the shadow of a crow squatted on the ground (Frazier 5). The And Progression Of Schizophrenia Two Hit Model of Schizophrenia, Discussion, Criticism, and Application to The Onset and Progression of Schizophrenia LA14495 University of Maryland Baltimore County December 2016 Abstract The purpose of this paper will be to discuss the two hit model of schizophrenia, including what it is, how it may inform treatment and prevention of schizophrenia, how it applies to schizophrenia for the duration of onset and progression, and how various primary sources support or challenge the model. We are finding that despite some inconsistencies between numerous findings and the model, the model serves as a suitable general explanation of schizophrenia onset and progression. The two hit model of schizophrenia proposes that disturbances to central nervous system development, leaves a person exposed to the onset of schizophrenia symptoms caused by various gene environmental interactions. The disturbances to central nervous system development are the first hit in the two hit model, and the gene environmental interactions that are able to cause the onset of schizophrenia in conjunction with the disturbances to central nervous system development are the second hit in the two hit model. Schizophrenia is usually grouped into three phases, the prodromal, active, and residual phases. Usually the prodromal phase occurs during the teen years or early twenties, and most of the time it occurs before the active phase. There is on occasion, mention of a fourth phase called ...
