Summary Of Saints By Nancy Scheper-Hughes
The typical Irish personality as seen through the ethnography of Nancy Scheper Hughes is similar
among the Irish population. The reason we see these similar traits among the Irish population is
because of the hardships that the people go through as they are raised from children to adults. Ireland
is known for their high rates of diagnosed mental illness. Through the author s fieldwork we are able
to learn about the personality traits found among the Irish. Nancy Scheper Hughes states that, the
Republic of Ireland has the highest hospitalization treatment rate for mental illness in the world
(Scheper Hughes 60). The book titled, Saints, Scholars, and Schizophrenics Mental Illness in Rural
Ireland, talks about the mental illness Schizophrenia and mentions reasons why the Irish population
has been diagnosed with so many cases. Scheper Hughes observes, Schizophrenia is the core problem
more than half of the patients are so diagnosed (Scheper Hughes 60). The reason behind these
diagnosed mental illnesses has a lot to do with the way the Irish are raised. Most of the Irish
population is raised in a similar way, which does not allow them to make decisions for themselves.
There are certain social and cultural values that Irish parents place upon their children, which may be
the reason why there are so many cases of mental illness seen throughout Ireland. One reason that may
affect these children is the pressure put on them by parents. In Irish culture at least one

The Nuances Of The Ukrainian Conflict
The nuances of the Ukrainian conflict
In the winter of 2013, thousands of activists braved the freezing cold to protest on the central Maidan
Independence Square in Kiev. Their grievance was then President Viktor Yanukovych s decision to
align his country closer to Russia by rejecting a trade agreement with the European Union which
many had been hoping for. The movement, known as Euromaidan, demanded the removal of
Yanukovych from power and the establishment of closer ties to the EU. However, Yanukovych stood
firm and the protestors came under fire, probably by members of the security services, and in the
ensuring street battles over 100 people, mainly activists (but also some police), were killed.
Yanukovych fled the country, only to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The rebels called the territory under their control Novorossiya, or New Russia . As the conflict grew
more intense and particularly after the downing of Malaysian airliner MH17, the United States, Britain
and many countries in the EU responded with economic sanctions and increasingly tough rhetoric,
with Prince Charles and others likening the actions of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Adolf
Hitler. The war has, to date, claimed over 6,000 lives and displaced many more. Fortunately, the bulk
of the fighting seems to be over and the situation seems to have relaxed somewhat, a ceasefire signed
in February 2015 in the Belarusian capital of Minsk appearing to hold, albeit with violations almost
daily.
The common narrative, at least the one put forward by Ukraine and much of the West, is one of
Russian aggression. Russia, afraid of losing its influence over its former colonies and refusing the
accept the modernising, pro Western ambitions of the Ukrainian people, artificially engineered a
rebellion through propaganda and blatant lies, labelling the protestors in Kiev as fascists and Neo
Nazis, then moved in its own troops under the guise of disgruntled locals and off duty army volunteers
to try and disrupt Ukraine s progress. But this narrative, while correct from a certain point of

Ice-Fili Case Analysis
Ice Fili case analysis 1. Please provide an in depth five forces analysis to illustrate the competitive
environment for Russia s ice cream industry. How is it likely to evolve?
Five forces analysis: 1) The bargaining power of suppliers * As some producers such as Ice Fili
wanted to keep their product s quality level, they imported specific raw materials, but they didn t have
a problem in finding new suppliers. * As the technology of Russia was lagged behind Western s, Ice
cream producers needed to import most of their ice cream machines. The bargaining power of
suppliers for raw materials is low, while for facilities is high. 2) The bargaining power of customers *

* The Russian economy is discouraging foreign investments, but the producers needed that money to
update technology, modernize infrastructure, develop marketing and packaging solutions, develop
dealer and distributor networks and so on. * The Russian financial crisis of 1998 resulted in a financial
collapse and devaluation of the ruble by 2/3. The domestic producers had to reduce their reliance on
imported materials and some foreign competitors exited the Russia market. 2) The fierce competition
in Russia * Regional producers, who has a significant cost advantage and are more flexible To meet
the market demand in regional areas, become more competitive. they accounted for about 30% of
domestic market, a few regional even exhibited aggressive growth in Moscow and other metropolitan
markets. * Foreign companies, such as Nestle, have a strong competitive advantage. Nestle has a long
term investment strategy, use local production and supplier to reduce cost, train and develop local staff
who has a better understanding of the local market , and develop its own storage facilities, distribution
and marketing network.. In addition, Nestle develop product that fit Russian taste and traditions. 3)
The weakness of Ice Fili * Cost disadvantage. High price raw material, as well as the ice cream

Essay On Germany
Germany is the seventh largest European country. The North European Plain of Germany is flat,
lowland terrain that has several rivers, streams, and is mostly used as farmland. The North Sea
coastline is made up of marshy wet land, with dikes, mudflats and scattered islands, while The Baltic
Sea coastline has more hills with some jagged cliffs. Germany s largest island is called Rugen which is
forested and rather hilly with steep cliffs and sandy beaches. In the northeast, near the city of Berlin,
the land remains sandy and is consisted of small lakes formed by retreating glaciers from the last Ice
Age. In central Germany, the land rises into forested uplands that include the volcanic origin Harz

On the Autobahn there is a recommended speed limit of 130 km/p (80 mph) that help ease traffic
problems throughout the country. German communication styles are honest and direct. They generally
speak the truth clearly and arrive straight to the point without using much tact to cushion their words.
This approach can feel blunt to a non German, but it s simply their way of ensuring clear
communication. Germans are generally accustomed to having smaller proximities of personal space.
The people of Germany are extremely punctual and may view those who are late as unreliable. Many
Germans reserve their smile for individuals they personally know and are consider to have more
serious exterior. When being sincere or speaking of something serious, it is important to maintain eye
contact. Avoiding eye contact is seen as an indication of dishonesty or a lack of confidence. When
German speaks to other adults, they normally approach them formally by referring to them as Frau

to avoid French defenses on the French German border. They were beaten back at the First Battle of

My Heroic Journey
I may be a hero to some. I have done heroic deeds but I would not call my self a hero. I didn t do it for
attention just as a good deed. I have saved peoples lives (well sorta). I will tell you how I became the
family floaty. It all started on a trip to the creek. some friends and my family were going. All the kids
wanted to swim while the adults well did adult stuff. So I was the swim lifeguard/supervisor. When I
got to the creek I found out that my dad s friend s kids couldn t swim. I recall there being a giant rock
that has fallen prior of when we got there. The rock was in he middle of the swimming hole and it
served as a safety area there was a little jump off spot near it to so every one swam to it. But not every

My Writing Log
Reading and Writing is something that is done without even thinking about it, to me it is like a natural
instinct that one just has developed over the years. I was surprised with my reading and writing log
because I would have never expected to read and write as much as it shows in my daily log that I had
to keep for a week. I noticed that I tend to divide my reading and writing into three categories such as
school, leisure and work. During the writing diary assignment I had to also keep track of the format I
used to read and write. This log showed me that I tend to do about the same amount of use of
electronic and physical formats. Most of my time was spent in academic reading. The reason why
academic reading takes most of my time is because as a college student, I am expected to read on my
own time to be prepared for the in class discussion. My daily log showed that I spend about 5 hours of
my day reading for school. This number will most likely increase due to my chemistry and
microbiology classes because as weeks pass I will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

away from home so I am not able to do it in person. At the same time I have to keep track of
everything that I do so it is involves me writing everything down on paper format. According to my
daily reading and writing log I wrote for about 2 hours a day for my job. It was surprising to find out
that I can write for about 10 hours a week for my job because I would have never thought of spending
that much time writing. I believe that the amount of writing that I do for my job will most likely
remain the same amount because there are still many things to do according to my job

Abortion Is The Right Choice
ABORTION RHETORICAL ANALYSIS
ABSTRACT Abortion is one of the most controversial issue worldwide. According to anti abortionist
people, there are people who tend to make bad choices look good when trying to decide what would
be the best decision to an unwanted pregnancy. Both the Pro Abortion and Pro Life are being
discussed from two different perspectives towards abortion. Anti Abortionist people disagree with
abortion due to their own beliefs. On the other hand, people believe women should have more
autonomy in the issue. Not only do anti abortionist people think abortion should not be an option
given to women but also think abortion should be illegal worldwide. Although people can not be
forced to have an abortion, people can be very persuasive to make others think abortion is the right
choice.
INTRODUCTION Abortion has been one of the most debated topics in the United States for more
than a century. There is the anti abortionist group that believe abortion should be permanently banned
from not only the U.S but also worldwide. We live in a world today that abortion takes place every
second of everyday. Abortion has become a big issue in today s generation because of the high
percentage of unprotected sex and uncontrolled hormones followed by the miss connection and lack of
responsibility and most importantly what the outcomes bring to the table. There are numerous of
different perspectives being argued and supported with strong beliefs

Professor Youssef
INTRODUCTION:
Bacteria are the smallest living organisms, they are prokaryotic and have a simple cell structure. They
do not contain a nucleus, and are unicellular. Bacteria are the most abundant microorganism. They are
among the earliest forms of life that appeared on earth billions of years ago. They can grow in
different temperatures and many exist naturally in our human flora, such as staphylococci. Growth
within different temperatures can range from 0 degrees Celsius such as psychrotrophs, to
hyperthermophiles who grown best above 70 degrees Celsius (Ritchey, Exercise 16). Bacteria have
many shapes, size, and multicell arrangements. The main bacteria shapes are cocci (spherical or ovoid
shaped), bacilli (straight rods), coccobacillus (short rods), fusiform bacillus (rod shaped bacilli with
tapered ends), vibrio (curved rods), spirillum (single spiral bacteria), and spirochete (if it is flexible
and undulating). Bacteria can form multicell arrangements, such as diplococcus (two cell
arrangements) (. Bacteria are usually named for their shape or multicell arrangement, but cannot be
truly identified by just those characteristics (Strelkauskas, Edwards, Fanhert, Pryor, 2016). Bacteria
can be classified by the way they stain. They are clear under a microscope and require staining to be
seen. To stain a bacteria, one takes a dye to color the cells. There are basic dyes that contain

remain profitable. Challenges such as piracy, digital theft, competition, overlapping movie campaigns,

According to Gnoffo (2005), by the end of 2004, Forrester Research estimated there were TiVos and
other DVRs in 6.5 million US households, up from 1.9 million in 2002. That number, the firm claims,
will climb to almost 50 million by 2009, representing 41% of all US households. On another front, the
popularity of Netflix, an online subscription service boasting 3 million users, prompted both
Blockbuster and Wal Mart to offer similar services whereby people rent DVDs for an unlimited time
for a monthly fee. While it s true that DVDs may be a cash cow for studios, theaters suffer when
patrons skip the cinema experience and wait for those releases at home. Needless to say, given the
increase in entertainment options, the movie going experience needs to be far more compelling to
draw in audience members. Moreover, this challenge is not likely to subside, but rather grow more
compelling: as discussed by Charny (2005), a recent study by Informa Research Services indicates
that 125 million people about 5% of all cell phone owners will be watching television on their
handsets by 2010. In addition, the Digital Lifestyles 2006 Outlook from Parks Associates (Scherf,

Persuasive Essay On Why Hockey Is Important
I think it is important to hockey because it will keep the fans entertained and the players will have fun.
It also provides a job to certain people who are willing to get hurt for their team. We need it in the
sport so it would be more entertaining for us to watch and other reasons. The whole point of fighting
in hockey is to make it more interesting then all of the other sports. It keep their players and fans on
their feet when the see one happening because it is the most exciting part about the sport. That s why
teams hire people to just fight for the team and are willing to get a penalty for it as well. Without
fighting the sport would not be the same it would be a lot more entertaining for the fans to watch
because there would be no more contact. The coaches of the teams will pay the people getting in fights
non stop a lot of money ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hockey is one of the only sports that will let contact like football or any other sports like those that
will have people hitting others for the protection of others. In hockey it three periods instead of half
and it has timed penalties instead of yards.
I think we should allow fighting in hockey because it will make it the most unique sport out there. The
sport has ups and downs like people getting sent to the hospital because of how bad the fights get but
that is what keeps us into the sport even though someone is really hurt but he did it for his fans and for
protecting his team. The fighting is called Fisticuffs it is so that the refs and couched will not interfere
with the fighting and so they can just fight out their differences so that the game can go on. The two
players that are fighting will get in some sort of trouble they might not be able to play some of the
next game because their couches might not let them until they think they are ready to play without
getting into anymore

The people of the Renaissance had a different mindset and attitude than the medieval people because
what they lived for made a drastic change after the bubonic hit. During the Middle Ages, the thought
of God dominated everyones mindset, the thought of heaven excited everyone, the though of hell
created a sense of fear. The afterlife was portrayed as perfect heaven by the Roman Catholic Church,
which was filled with the most educated people, leaving them as the only place people can go to for
anything. No one questioned them because there was nothing else to believe in until the bubonic

Diagnosis/Discussion
The patient had a sudden onset of lower left quadrant pain and was diagnosed with diverticulitis. The
patient has no diet regimen, which may be the likely cause of his onset with this disease. His primary
complaint of lower left quadrant pain, is being felt by the inflamation and infection that is occuring in
his sigmoid colon, located in the lower left quadrant in the hypogastric region. Diverticulitis is an
inflamation and infection in the diverticuli, which are holes, or weak spots found in the colon.
This inflamation and infection can effect many tissues if preforations allow the leakage of infection
into the abdominal cavity, such as the bladder, skin, and small intestines. In this case, fortunately the
patient was spared with a mild case and only resulted in a 3 day hosp. stay. The lining of the sigmoid
colon is made up of simple columnar epithelium cells. Their main function is for secretions and
absorbtion.
When there is a problem in the colon, and these cells are inflamed and infected, they do not work like
they were intended and the homeostasis in the body is effected, resulting in

How Did The Witch Trial Happen Before The English Civil War
Gaskill, reported that at his time King James I would also review trials and in some cases he
discovered that some trials occurred because of false accusations. Before the Civil War, the trials of
accused witches were more or less a fair trial, however, do to the political vacuum caused by King
Charles I s reign and the civil war, the format of the witch trials would also change once again.
After the start of the English Civil War, one can see a change in the actual witch trials themselves. The
English Civil War brought chaos to more people than the religious tensions between Catholics and
Protestants. Court systems suffered at this time as well. Any of the progressive movements in the court
systems during the witch hunts in Early Modern ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In these trials the corruption of the courts is evident. In summary of the trials the townspeople of
Manningtree accused Elizabeth Clark for witchcraft, which she in turn accused other female members
of the community. Anna West and her daughter were two of the other the thirty four people accused of
meeting with Elizabeth Clark. This trail can be considered corrupt because of the processes of the trial.
Elizabeth Clark and the others we accused by their fellow townspeople, whom then were handed of
over to Hopkins and his associate John Stearne. The two men and what Gaskill labels as search
women testified against the accused women in the court of a puritan earl of Warwick because at this
point in history, Essex County, England did not have a judge. This shows that corruption that war
brought to the court system because of war. Court systems were no longer run by a judge with a jury
but by the local noble, whose religion most likely influenced his ruling. It is important to remember
that Hopkins was also a Puritan and could have been searching for people to oversee his trials who

Feminist Sexological Analysis
The field of sexology is extremely valuable and yet often overlooked and taken for granted. Further,
the field of feminist sexology goes unnoticed or is just flat out excluded even more often. This is
certainly no indicator of its importance to society, though. Feminist sexology is vital to countering the
exclusionist approach of traditional sexology and providing new ways of approaching societal systems
and their issues. The poster fair itself was interesting and overall a positive experience in the end.
However, working on the project certainly had its ups and downs for my group and proved to be a
highly exasperating and frustrating process. Sexology as a field is relatively young, having only been

Due to issues with one of the group members keeping bare minimum contact with us while doing the
bare minimum of work, waiting until last minute to tell us he wouldn t make it to meet with us, and
then eventually deciding to drop the class and tell us the day before the poster fair, the project ended
up becoming pretty stressful for both myself and for Taylor. However, as much as group projects can
be stressful and frustrating and this one was for us, I believe the poster fair project is a productive and
positive project for this class because it allows a concentrated mix of ideas and opinions while
working on a project and there s no way to do something like an informational poster fair as an
individual project without requiring significantly more time over the semester. As far as how our
poster turned out, I feel like ours fell short in appearance, layout, and overall cleanliness. I don t feel
like our design was laid out as well as it could have been, though that is partially because we had
originally intended to have another topic of feminist sexology included in the poster which was our
third group member s part demedicalization of women s sexuality and sexual problems. That fact also
made me feel our poster lacked overall flow and, in some ways, information since having only one
issue of feminist sexology seemed like not enough. However, given our circumstances, I am pleased
with what we were able to pull off and make work for our poster and I feel that we fell along the line
with many of the other posters from the other

Essay about The Full Effects of War
To some, war is a necessary evil. The United States has been involved in many wars since it s
founding in the late 1700 s and will in all probability continue to be involved in several more wars
throughout the continuation its future. The wars the United States have been involved in previously
and now currently a part of, results from a culmination of reasons (some necessary and others
unnecessary). Although war is not always a popular thing to become a part of, the full effects of the
war can t possibly be known and may never be known as long as the United States is a country.
Stephen Crane tells alludes to a few effects of war in his poem War is Kind . Physical handicaps,

Crane perpetuates this by stating Because your father... Raged at his breast, gulped and died (686).
Further, several other physical effects beg for US citizens to support the individuals. A few of these
conditions could possibly be; the loss of limbs, sight, hearing, etc. A writer for Aging and Mental
Health magazine states that in any traumatic war experience, malnutrition, immunological
deficiencies, and chronic infections lead to greatly increased mortality rates soon after the war and
over their lifetime (Davies 100). Further investigation would show an individual that these effects are
prominent throughout the world currently, even without war being the cause. Many underdeveloped
countries around the world currently have the aforementioned malnutrition and suffering. This
suffering will continue forever unless their countries develop to the point where these helpless people
can be taken care of. Hopefully the United States, supposedly being one of the most developed
countries in the world, can help returning wartime soldiers coming home from essential missions from
around the world with the physical aspects of the home life that they may no longer able to perform.
One way the United States can help out the soldiers returning with missing limbs, is by fitting them
with the limb or body parts that they have lost. According to Spc. Lorie Jewell from Soldiers

BskyB Residual operating income valuation and analysis: The share price calculated for BskyB using
the residual income valuation model is £ 3.72, which is £ 5.64 below the market share price of around

Introduction
Public Relations as a profession first gained its presence in China in 1980s, by western concepts and
industrial practices being introduced from several international agencies which entered into this
uncultured market at the earliest (Hugh M. Culbertson Ni Chen, 1996). The emerging industry had
shown its huge potential in an increasingly healthier environment due to the policies of reform and
opening up and the development of market economy (Ni Chen, 2009).

Research Methods in Sociology and Anthropology
By
Western Governors University
Abstract
Sociology and Anthropology rely upon investigational and research techniques. While some of these
may be similar they also differ. Each discipline has its own philosophical justification for their method
but any and all approaches to study the society s culture require some degree of fieldwork.
A. Research Methods in Sociology Scientifically studying human society s development, origins and
organizations/institutions is defined as Sociology. (Wikipedia, 2013). The methods of analysis and ...

Experimental research concentrates on how and why something happens. It is the evaluation of how
an independent variable (a manipulated factor) affects a dependent variable (an observed factor). The
outcome can be affected by a number of elements; obtaining random and representative samples of the
study population, experimenter bias and extraneous variables.
Bias as defined by the expectations of the researcher of what should or should not happen influencing
the results. Lack of control on extraneous variables may interfere with the results; only with careful
control on extraneous variables can valid conclusions about the effects of specific variables on other
variables be drawn. (CliffNotes). The philosophical justification for survey research is cost
containment with a large volume of research. It is also one of the most efficient and quick methods to
gather large amounts of information. Data analysis can be completed in a short period of time and
generalization is better, particularly when the representative sample is of a population. It also helps
elimination of bias in result interpretation as subjects have the ability to remain anonymous.
B. Research methods in Cultural Anthropology The study of cultural variation among humans and
collecting data regarding the impact of global economic and political processes on local cultural
realities is the cultural anthropology branch of anthropology. (Wikipedia, 2013).

The Pros And Cons Of Independent Space Explorations
Independent Space companies, and billionaires eager to mine space have created a new competitive
business in America. John Lewis, a leading expert on space resources, and professor of
cosmochemistry and planetary atmospheres at the University of Arizona claims the future of space
resource exploitation lies in the private sector (Leonard). Private companies and individuals have their
eye on the prize and are determined to be the first to mine space. In his address to the nation on Labor
Day in 1971, president Richard Nixon said the competitive spirit lifted itself into the position of the
most powerful and respected leader of the free world (Nixon). Private companies are keeping this

Deep Space Industries is building autonomous spacecraft that can extract minerals from asteroids
(Tynan) expected to launch this year. John Brophy the co leader of NASA s Jet Propulsion Laboratory
claims mining space is feasible using technology available in this decade (David), however the
feasibility is dependent three advancements; ground based observations, propulsions system, and
human presence. Prospectors know asteroids contain large amounts of valuable resource, however
they have faced challenges pinpointing mining locations. Improving ground based observation will
allow prospectors to target asteroids and mine more efficiently. Perhaps the most challenging
technological advancements is developing a sufficiently powerful solar electric propulsion system
(Leonard), necessary to bring an asteroid back to lunar orbit. The last important advancement
necessary to conduct space mining missions is the human presence in lunar orbit to investigate and
exploit this resource (Leonard). Developing technology to access and mine asteroids is crucial the
space mining missions. The three conceptual advancements are an important in developing technology
to gathering resources from space. Technological advancements mean space mining is a realistic goal
within the next century, promising a bright future for humans on earth. Additionally, the technology

`` Pied Beauty `` By Gerard Manley Hopkins
Throughout recorded history, humans have accredited the happenings of nature to a higher power;
shown through religious beliefs past and present. The Greeks believed in a myriad of gods and
goddesses, who supposedly governed all aspects of life and nature. They believed in a god or goddess
to represent each part of nature from the sun to the sea; there was even a goddess of rainbows. The
Grecians used their religion to explain the elements of their world for which they had no other
explanation. Christians explain the natural world in a similar fashion. Instead of a god or goddess for
each individual piece of nature, they preach that nature was created and is controlled by their God.
The belief of divine control is a popular topic in literature; specifically poetry. Pied Beauty written by
Gerard Manley Hopkins in 1877, and Design written by Robert Frost in 1922 are just two examples of
many that follow this trend. Gerard Manley Hopkins was a 19th century, English, Victorian poet. He
was brought up in a religious and artistic family, leading to his becoming a poet and Jesuit priest
(Reid). Alternatively, Robert Frost was a 20th century, modern, American poet. Frost lived and taught
in New England; through his poetry he described much of its scenery and landscape (Gerber). Despite
the differences in their lives and writing styles, Frost and Hopkins developed poems of similar image
and theme. Though Hopkins s Pied Beauty and Frost s Design are of similar theme, their

SLU Mission Statement
Narrow hallways walled by human heads and limbs crowding every space between metal bars
surrounded me. Children starved on unpaved streets with only rags that wrapped their bodies. I ended
my high school career by serving a foreign community. In Chinandega, Nicaragua I had the
opportunity to befriend and support the sick, the imprisoned, the orphaned and impoverished. This
experience among others shaped me to appreciate the value of philanthropy and social justice.
Throughout High School, I led multiple philanthropic projects. As president of the Ignite
Organization, I involved students to raise funds for, and volunteer at a pregnancy center. I assembled a
team of volunteers, and initiated fundraisers. This effort transpired over a year and continues to affect
my community. I also developed a supply drive to assist Hurricane Sandy victims through benefit
events. Furthermore, I volunteered at summer camps as well as at my Parish as a counselor.

The Importance Of Cognitive Development In Willy Wonka And...
Childhood, as we all know, is the state or period of being a child; the early period in the development
of something (Merriam Webster). The movie Willy Wonka the Chocolate Factory (1971) illustrates
five different children with each having different behavior, and they have one thing in common they
are the only child in their family. These children are in the middle childhood, primary school age,
around age seven or eight. What makes them different from each other is interesting. It allows the
viewers to think if their behavior is either result of their experience or how they were raised. How they
perceive things and how they behave are part of their cognitive development. The major domain of
early childhood development is their cognitive development and the arguable aspects of the Nature
Nurture. The term cognition refers to how the mind operates and the study of cognitive development
focuses on how the mind thinks and learns during the early years of life (Universal Class, Inc.). The
major premise of Piaget s theory is that children go through various stages of cognitive development,
all of which are distinct from one another and influenced by both nature and nurture. (Universal Class,
Inc.). Nature is what we think of as pre wiring and is influenced by genetic inheritance and other
biological factors. Nurture is generally taken as the influence of external factors after conception, e.g.,
the product of exposure, experience and learning on an individual (Simply

The biometric authentication is sufficient authentication.
A traditional authentication method as a sufficient authentication method is offered only in the case of
biometric system malfunction. Systems on level two offer a certain level of security and still remain
relatively cheap. Some of the easiest attacks are eliminated, but the systems still can be tampered with
or cheated with faked biometric characteristics.
C. Level 3 Intermediate systems
Level three systems already do have some kind of liveness test. Exposed components of the system
(typically the biometric input device) must be guarded or tamperresistant against moderate attacks.
The communication must be authenticated and encrypted. The biometric authentication is sufficient,
and the system never offers traditional authentication as a sufficient authentication method. Such
biometric systems will be able to resist moderate attacks.
Advanced tampering methods or advanced faked biometric characteristics, however, will still be able
to cheat the biometric systems.

Isaiah s Testament Prophets Of The Bible
Isaiah is known as one of the greatest Old Testament prophets of the Bible. Isaiah s name means The
Salvation of the Lord . Isaiah lived in Jerusalem. In the book of Isaiah, Isaiah warned his own people
in Judah, Israel, and other nations of the many things that God instructed his followers not to do. In his
Biblical account, Isaiah states that he received visions from God. He states that these visions were
prophecies which were to come true. In his many prophecies, Isaiah foretells of one significant
prophecy, which is the prophecy of Jesus. Isaiah specifically wrote about a child who would have no
human father. This child would be God s faithful servant. Isaiah said that this child would become
king and as king, this child would justly rule. As king, the Holy Spirit would rest upon. Isaiah told that
the people would not accept him as God s servant. Isaiah told his people that when this child was
grown, he would die for us as a sacrifice so that God will forgive us. Then, God s servant would live
again. Everyone must trust him. God will forgive the people who confess their evil deeds to God. So,
God himself will rescue his people.
Jewish tradition holds Isaiah lived under the reigns of four kings of Judah Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and
Hezekiah. During his life, Isaiah was said to have been married to a prophetess, with whom he had
two sons. The two sons were Shear Jashub, whose names means a remnant shall return , and Maher

Daddy By Sylvia Plath Analysis
Sylvia Plath s Daddy is a very strong poem emotionally that has many different meanings and
interpretations. The narrative that Plath created is one that conveys a deep emotional distress and
feelings of confinement of a woman as she is trapped by the memories of her father until finally
gaining freedom when she lets go and make peace with her past. The speaker, symbolism, and the
sound devices all play big parts in giving the poem a profound meaning of resolution. The speaker
often speaks in the second person as she talks to her father, almost like she s writing a final letter to
him. Looking at the poem in this light gives it a whole new tone. It fortifies the meaning of resolution
as the speaker gives a personal confession towards her father, letting him know that even after all the
hurting, she has come to terms with him and will no longer let him have such power over her life.
Certain lines to take on a deeper impact as one reads it like a confessional letter. In the line I have
always been scared of you (41), the speaker is admitting to her father and herself that he has always
scared her, even before his death. The line I may be a bit of a Jew (40) also takes a deeper meaning as
she learns more about herself that she may have been scared to admit before, such as being a Jew.
Throughout the poem, Plath s speaker fluctuates in her attitude towards her father, from hate to fear
and back again, until finally a plain disdain as she ends her letter to her

Reflective Essay On Astronomy
The last time I remember learning about astronomy formally was as far back as elementary school,
where we learned about the basics of our solar system s planets and other ideas about space commonly
known by most people. Having never studied astronomy at a higher level, going into this class felt
similar to traveling to a foreign country, or sailing in foreign waters, so to speak. Many of the concepts
and facts have been things I have had little to no prior knowledge of. But regardless of any of that, I
cannot express the importance of this area of study in my life. In the past I have read comments
online, as well as heard things in real life, about how some subjects have no value in being studied
unless one is majoring in them. While my major is not astronomy, much less even science, I still could
not disagree more with this sort of thought. I can relate to some of the concepts of astronomy on a
very deep and personal level, to the point where my psychological state is affected, and I will explain
these thoughts in detail later. While these areas of great interest have not yet been covered in the
course, I cannot say that I have not found all of the current topics fascinating. As one who has a deep
interest in mathematics, I found a few of the concepts rather thought provoking, and I will again this
later. I will lastly discuss what I thought of the material as a whole, what I got most out of it, and what
my experiences were during and after learning it. Out of everything

Formal Analysis Of An Art Work Essay
Primary Research: Formal Analysis of an Art Work
The art work that I have chosen for this formal analysis of an art work is the Painter of Paestum s
piece titled Red figure lebes gamikos (marriage vessel) it was made with terracotta red clay. This piece
was made between 340 330 B.C. It is approximately 10 inches in height. The present location of this
art piece is at The San Antonio Museum of Art in the Greek Late Classical section. The collection is a
permanent collection from Gilbert M. and Denman, Jr. whose funds were used to purchase the vessel.
( San Antonio Museum of Art Wall Text ). These marriage vessels are frequently shown in marriage
scenes on Greek vases. This marriage vessel could have been given as a wedding gift or used to
contain water for the bride s bath before the wedding ceremony. Also, it could have been placed by the
bride s door and was possibly used in a ritual of sprinkling the bride with water before the wedding
ceremony. The Red figure lebes gamikos (marriage vessel) has an oval shape where it is narrow at the
lip, the neck and the foot of the vessel while the lip and body of the marriage vessel are round. The
marriage vessel contains two high looped handles and a lid with a very intricate knob which is a
smaller marriage vessel which has two small high looped handles and an open lip with no lid. The
stand for the smaller vessel is a conical stand on top of the knob. On the top of the lid, there is a figure
of a woman that is facing the front

Psycho Dynamic Concepts And Therapies
Throughout the years and despite the endless scientific research, many have come to believe that
psycho dynamic concepts and therapies are not as effective as other therapies. However, Shedler
(2010) believes that the misconception of the ineffectiveness of psycho dynamic concepts and
therapies are mainly because of the distaste that exists in the mental health professions due to the
hierarchical medical establishment that used to deny training to non MDs and adopted a dismissive
stance towards research (Shedler, pg. 98, 2010). As a result, research was disregarded and the spot
light was placed on the emerging new therapies that were widely welcomed by the academicians
whilst the psycho dynamic therapies received very limited attention. ... Show more content on

These concepts aid the client to become aware and explore aspects of themselves that are not aware
of. The therapy sessions are not as frequent as those of other therapies and treatment is not limited to a
particular number of visit. Psychodynamic therapy does not only focus on relieving the client s
presenting problem, but also positively influence other aspects of the client s life: relationships, self

When applying the theory to practice, a clinician yields for results by overall assessing the client s

Discuss the literary representation of history in relation to this controversial statement.
Considered as la parole officielle française la plus raciste depuis longtemps , Nicholas Sarkozy s 2007

between France and Africa; the progressive and the stagnant, Sarkozy reinforced a euro centric idea of

Whilst the main body of the text serves to represent the history of the Baoulé people and their leader,
Queen Pokou; in constantly questioning and subverting the narrative, Tadjo constructs alternative
endings to the well known legend of the Ivory Coast (Ligaga, 2011: 488). One chapter that best
exemplifies the dual meaning of histoire is La Traversée de l Atlantique , where Tadjo rewrites the
original legend in the context of the transatlantic slave trade. Here, the use of language is emotive,
enabling Tadjo to stress the cruelty of the trade. For example, the use of metonymy when describing
the captives on their passage is unsettling (Cazenave and Célérité, 2011: 75 76). Corps contre corps,
ballottés par les vagues (Tadjo, 2005: 58). This dehumanises the slaves and parallels their worth with
that of commodities, as subalterns, corps . Similarly, the repetition of corps , elicits a disturbing image
of slaves, both alive and dead, in close proximity in the hold. In grounding this version of the narrative
in fact, Tadjo intensifies the emotional impact on the reader. We thus sympathise with the victims on
both a factual and fictional level. The use of three successive nouns, ils avaient perdu leur visage, leur
nom, leur lendemains , enables Tadjo to further illustrate the process of dehumanisation during the
journey across the Atlantic (Tadjo, 2005: 59). They

Hamlet as So Much More Than a Traditional Revenge Tragedy
Although Shakespeare wrote Hamlet closely following the conventions of a traditional revenge
tragedy, he goes far beyond this form in his development of Hamlet s character. Shakespeare s
exploration of Hamlet s complex thoughts and emotions is perhaps more the focus of the play rather
than that of revenge, thus in Hamlet Shakespeare greatly develops and enhances the form of the
traditional revenge tragedy.
The main source of Hamlet is Saxo Grammaticus Historiae Danicae, a folk tale that has a similar plot
to Hamlet; however, Shakespeare greatly transforms this story of revenge when creating Hamlet.

The revenge ghost is a convention Kyd took from Seneca s tragedies, and in fact, Don Andrea has
similar parallels to the ghost of Achilles in Seneca s play Troades.
The first appearance of the old king s ghost in the opening scene of Hamlet would have been
suggestive of a revenge tragedy to an Elizabethan audience. However, the ghost does not demand
revenge as Don Andrea does, but rather adds to the uncertainty and sense of foreboding in the scene.
The play begins in a bitter cold night, bringing a sense of pathetic fallacy to the scene, as the setting
adds to the sense of trouble in Denmark, as described by Horatio and Marcellus. It is not until Act I,
Scene V that the ghost appears to Hamlet, demanding revenge [for] his foul and most unnatural

will] sweep to [his] revenge, he does not take his revenge until the final scene of the play. Hamlet s
inaction and delay of his revenge is paralleled in The Spanish Tragedy, however the reasons for delay
in Hamlet are somewhat different.

Prescription or Poison: The Effects of Direct to Consumer Advertising
New Zealand and the U.S are the only two countries in the world where Direct to Consumer (DTC) of
prescription is legal. DTC of drugs means the commercials listing of potential problems and then
suggesting a pill as a solution. These commercials often advertise drugs that are not FDA approved, as
they are not required to. Drug manufacturing companies, not the doctors, put out these advertisements
in media. These DTC ads used to have to go through doctors to get sold, but now they use DTCA to
sell their products, therefore are not required to inform the consumer about all risks.
In 2015, at solely retail pharmacies, over 4,065,000,000 prescriptions were filled within a year. DTCA

Comparing Apple Vs Samsung
Most people have owned or own a Samsung device or Apple device. You may know these two
amazing companies have been competing versus each other for the longest on trying to produce the

features, from fingerprint scanner to waterproof technology. Even though they are the phones that are
more expensive they are expensive for a reason, and the reason is because they have the latest
technology and are built with great quality. I personally like Samsung over Apple because Samsung
freely lets you organize and personalize your own phone, while Apple only really lets you change the

Samsung is a South Korean company while Apple is founded in the United States of America.
Samsung sold approximately 83.4 million phones, but that number decreased because of the battery
issue on the Samsung Note 7, which was a overheating problem that was causing the battery to
overheat and then explode and there were some incidents that people reported burned them while their
phone was on their pocket or while it was charging, and the number decreased to 76.7, while apple

Analysis Of The Outsiders
Do you know Dallas Winston is? Well let me tell you he is not nice. Dallas is a clod, mean, and tough
person from the gang in The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. Later on in the book a member of the gang,
Johnny dies from saving kids from a burning church. Also because of his bad record and personality.
This fills Dally with hate and rage. For this reason Dally goes to a store to a store and robes it.
Meeting his gang in the lot the police pull up with guns. Dally also has a gun without ammunition to
scare people, but when he pulls it out the cops shoot without hesitation. Why did Dally bluff the cops?
Well there is three reasons. His bad record, his personality, and lastly the death of Johnny. To begin
with Dally pulled the gun out so the cops would shoot him is because of his bad record. First of all,
Dally was arrested at the age of 10! This is stated in the text by S.E. Hinton on page ten Dally had
spent three days on the wild side of New York and had been arrested at the age of ten. Next, to blow
off steam when he was infuriated he would get into gang fights. This is also stated in the text on page
eleven by S.E. Hinton In New York, Dally blew off steam in gang fights, but here, organized gangs are
rarities there are just small bunches of friends who stick together, and the warfare is between the social

The Importance of Chemical Analysis in Archaeology
Anthropology is not a word that crosses people s minds very often, and when it does, it is most often
associated with treasure hunting and dinosaurs. Those who have a vague idea of what anthropology
that is, the study of human past and all that entails and its subfield, archaeology is, often think of both
as one dimensional fields, when in reality, they are so much more. Anthropology is a multi
disciplinary field of study combining various sciences, social and otherwise, to work together to paint
a complete picture of humankind, one of the most complex species to ever walk on the planet, while
archaeology is the study of human past through material remains. It is, therefore, ridiculous to assume
that such a tall order can be accomplished by any single discipline. One of the most significant
methods of verifying information in anthropology is chemical analysis, which can be used in a variety
of ways. This essay will compare and contrast the use of analytical methods to investigate the bronze
artifacts associated with the Xiongnu and pre Xiongnu period with those used to analyze the chemical
compositions of volcanic rocks for adze production in late precontact Hawaiian archaic states and
what the findings imply. Both analyses use energy dispersive x ray spectroscopy to determine the
chemical contents of the artifacts to understand their

  • 2. Summary Of Saints By Nancy Scheper-Hughes The typical Irish personality as seen through the ethnography of Nancy Scheper Hughes is similar among the Irish population. The reason we see these similar traits among the Irish population is because of the hardships that the people go through as they are raised from children to adults. Ireland is known for their high rates of diagnosed mental illness. Through the author s fieldwork we are able to learn about the personality traits found among the Irish. Nancy Scheper Hughes states that, the Republic of Ireland has the highest hospitalization treatment rate for mental illness in the world (Scheper Hughes 60). The book titled, Saints, Scholars, and Schizophrenics Mental Illness in Rural Ireland, talks about the mental illness Schizophrenia and mentions reasons why the Irish population has been diagnosed with so many cases. Scheper Hughes observes, Schizophrenia is the core problem more than half of the patients are so diagnosed (Scheper Hughes 60). The reason behind these diagnosed mental illnesses has a lot to do with the way the Irish are raised. Most of the Irish population is raised in a similar way, which does not allow them to make decisions for themselves. There are certain social and cultural values that Irish parents place upon their children, which may be the reason why there are so many cases of mental illness seen throughout Ireland. One reason that may affect these children is the pressure put on them by parents. In Irish culture at least one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Nuances Of The Ukrainian Conflict The nuances of the Ukrainian conflict In the winter of 2013, thousands of activists braved the freezing cold to protest on the central Maidan Independence Square in Kiev. Their grievance was then President Viktor Yanukovych s decision to align his country closer to Russia by rejecting a trade agreement with the European Union which many had been hoping for. The movement, known as Euromaidan, demanded the removal of Yanukovych from power and the establishment of closer ties to the EU. However, Yanukovych stood firm and the protestors came under fire, probably by members of the security services, and in the ensuring street battles over 100 people, mainly activists (but also some police), were killed. Yanukovych fled the country, only to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The rebels called the territory under their control Novorossiya, or New Russia . As the conflict grew more intense and particularly after the downing of Malaysian airliner MH17, the United States, Britain and many countries in the EU responded with economic sanctions and increasingly tough rhetoric, with Prince Charles and others likening the actions of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Adolf Hitler. The war has, to date, claimed over 6,000 lives and displaced many more. Fortunately, the bulk of the fighting seems to be over and the situation seems to have relaxed somewhat, a ceasefire signed in February 2015 in the Belarusian capital of Minsk appearing to hold, albeit with violations almost daily. The common narrative, at least the one put forward by Ukraine and much of the West, is one of Russian aggression. Russia, afraid of losing its influence over its former colonies and refusing the accept the modernising, pro Western ambitions of the Ukrainian people, artificially engineered a rebellion through propaganda and blatant lies, labelling the protestors in Kiev as fascists and Neo Nazis, then moved in its own troops under the guise of disgruntled locals and off duty army volunteers to try and disrupt Ukraine s progress. I was surprised with my reading and writing log because I would have never expected to read and write as much as it shows in my daily log that I had to keep for a week. I noticed that I tend to divide my reading and writing into three categories such as school, leisure and work. During the writing diary assignment I had to also keep track of the format I used to read and write. This log showed me that I tend to do about the same amount of use of electronic and physical formats. Most of my time was spent in academic reading. The reason why academic reading takes most of my time is because as a college student, I am expected to read on my own time to be prepared for the in class discussion. My daily log showed that I spend about 5 hours of my day reading for school. This number will most likely increase due to my chemistry and microbiology classes because as weeks pass I will ... According to anti abortionist people, there are people who tend to make bad choices look good when trying to decide what would be the best decision to an unwanted pregnancy. Both the Pro Abortion and Pro Life are being discussed from two different perspectives towards abortion. Anti Abortionist people disagree with abortion due to their own beliefs. On the other hand, people believe women should have more autonomy in the issue. Not only do anti abortionist people think abortion should not be an option given to women but also think abortion should be illegal worldwide. Although people can not be forced to have an abortion, people can be very persuasive to make others think abortion is the right choice. INTRODUCTION Abortion has been one of the most debated topics in the United States for more than a century. There is the anti abortionist group that believe abortion should be permanently banned from not only the U.S but also worldwide. • 9. Bacteria Lab Lab Report: Unknown #1 Paola Rosales 302672960 Professor Youssef INTRODUCTION: Bacteria are the smallest living organisms, they are prokaryotic and have a simple cell structure. They do not contain a nucleus, and are unicellular. Bacteria are the most abundant microorganism. They are among the earliest forms of life that appeared on earth billions of years ago. They can grow in different temperatures and many exist naturally in our human flora, such as staphylococci. Growth within different temperatures can range from 0 degrees Celsius such as psychrotrophs, to hyperthermophiles who grown best above 70 degrees Celsius (Ritchey, Exercise 16). Bacteria have many shapes, size, and multicell arrangements. The main bacteria shapes are cocci (spherical or ovoid shaped), bacilli (straight rods), coccobacillus (short rods), fusiform bacillus (rod shaped bacilli with tapered ends), vibrio (curved rods), spirillum (single spiral bacteria), and spirochete (if it is flexible and undulating). Bacteria can form multicell arrangements, such as diplococcus (two cell arrangements) (. Bacteria are usually named for their shape or multicell arrangement, but cannot be truly identified by just those characteristics (Strelkauskas, Edwards, Fanhert, Pryor, 2016). Bacteria can be classified by the way they stain. They are clear under a microscope and require staining to be seen. To stain a bacteria, one takes a dye to color the cells. According to Gnoffo (2005), by the end of 2004, Forrester Research estimated there were TiVos and other DVRs in 6.5 million US households, up from 1.9 million in 2002. That number, the firm claims, will climb to almost 50 million by 2009, representing 41% of all US households. On another front, the popularity of Netflix, an online subscription service boasting 3 million users, prompted both Blockbuster and Wal Mart to offer similar services whereby people rent DVDs for an unlimited time for a monthly fee. While it s true that DVDs may be a cash cow for studios, theaters suffer when patrons skip the cinema experience and wait for those releases at home. Needless to say, given the increase in entertainment options, the movie going experience needs to be far more compelling to draw in audience members. Moreover, this challenge is not likely to subside, but rather grow more compelling: as discussed by Charny (2005), a recent study by Informa Research Services indicates that 125 million people about 5% of all cell phone owners will be watching television on their handsets by 2010. It also provides a job to certain people who are willing to get hurt for their team. We need it in the sport so it would be more entertaining for us to watch and other reasons. The whole point of fighting in hockey is to make it more interesting then all of the other sports. It keep their players and fans on their feet when the see one happening because it is the most exciting part about the sport. That s why teams hire people to just fight for the team and are willing to get a penalty for it as well. The sport has ups and downs like people getting sent to the hospital because of how bad the fights get but that is what keeps us into the sport even though someone is really hurt but he did it for his fans and for protecting his team. The fighting is called Fisticuffs it is so that the refs and couched will not interfere with the fighting and so they can just fight out their differences so that the game can go on. However, as much as group projects can be stressful and frustrating and this one was for us, I believe the poster fair project is a productive and positive project for this class because it allows a concentrated mix of ideas and opinions while working on a project and there s no way to do something like an informational poster fair as an individual project without requiring significantly more time over the semester. As far as how our poster turned out, I feel like ours fell short in appearance, layout, and overall cleanliness. I don t feel like our design was laid out as well as it could have been, though that is partially because we had originally intended to have another topic of feminist sexology included in the poster which was our third group member s part demedicalization of women s sexuality and sexual problems. That fact also made me feel our poster lacked overall flow and, in some ways, information since having only one issue of feminist sexology seemed like not enough. • 25. `` Pied Beauty `` By Gerard Manley Hopkins Throughout recorded history, humans have accredited the happenings of nature to a higher power; shown through religious beliefs past and present. The Greeks believed in a myriad of gods and goddesses, who supposedly governed all aspects of life and nature. They believed in a god or goddess to represent each part of nature from the sun to the sea; there was even a goddess of rainbows. The Grecians used their religion to explain the elements of their world for which they had no other explanation. Christians explain the natural world in a similar fashion. Instead of a god or goddess for each individual piece of nature, they preach that nature was created and is controlled by their God. The belief of divine control is a popular topic in literature; specifically poetry. Pied Beauty written by Gerard Manley Hopkins in 1877, and Design written by Robert Frost in 1922 are just two examples of many that follow this trend. Gerard Manley Hopkins was a 19th century, English, Victorian poet. He was brought up in a religious and artistic family, leading to his becoming a poet and Jesuit priest (Reid). Alternatively, Robert Frost was a 20th century, modern, American poet. Frost lived and taught in New England; through his poetry he described much of its scenery and landscape (Gerber). Childhood, as we all know, is the state or period of being a child; the early period in the development of something (Merriam Webster). The movie Willy Wonka the Chocolate Factory (1971) illustrates five different children with each having different behavior, and they have one thing in common they are the only child in their family. These children are in the middle childhood, primary school age, around age seven or eight. What makes them different from each other is interesting. It allows the viewers to think if their behavior is either result of their experience or how they were raised. How they perceive things and how they behave are part of their cognitive development. The major domain of early childhood development is their cognitive development and the arguable aspects of the Nature Nurture. The term cognition refers to how the mind operates and the study of cognitive development focuses on how the mind thinks and learns during the early years of life (Universal Class, Inc.). The major premise of Piaget s theory is that children go through various stages of cognitive development, all of which are distinct from one another and influenced by both nature and nurture. In the book of Isaiah, Isaiah warned his own people in Judah, Israel, and other nations of the many things that God instructed his followers not to do. In his Biblical account, Isaiah states that he received visions from God. He states that these visions were prophecies which were to come true. In his many prophecies, Isaiah foretells of one significant prophecy, which is the prophecy of Jesus. Isaiah specifically wrote about a child who would have no human father. This child would be God s faithful servant. Isaiah said that this child would become king and as king, this child would justly rule. As king, the Holy Spirit would rest upon. Isaiah told that the people would not accept him as God s servant. Isaiah told his people that when this child was grown, he would die for us as a sacrifice so that God will forgive us. Then, God s servant would live again. Everyone must trust him. God will forgive the people who confess their evil deeds to God. So, God himself will rescue his people. • 30. Daddy By Sylvia Plath Analysis Sylvia Plath s Daddy is a very strong poem emotionally that has many different meanings and interpretations. The narrative that Plath created is one that conveys a deep emotional distress and feelings of confinement of a woman as she is trapped by the memories of her father until finally gaining freedom when she lets go and make peace with her past. The speaker, symbolism, and the sound devices all play big parts in giving the poem a profound meaning of resolution. The speaker often speaks in the second person as she talks to her father, almost like she s writing a final letter to him. Looking at the poem in this light gives it a whole new tone. It fortifies the meaning of resolution as the speaker gives a personal confession towards her father, letting him know that even after all the hurting, she has come to terms with him and will no longer let him have such power over her life. Certain lines to take on a deeper impact as one reads it like a confessional letter. In the line I have always been scared of you (41), the speaker is admitting to her father and herself that he has always scared her, even before his death. The line I may be a bit of a Jew (40) also takes a deeper meaning as she learns more about herself that she may have been scared to admit before, such as being a Jew. Throughout the poem, Plath s speaker fluctuates in her attitude towards her father, from hate to fear and back again, until finally a plain disdain as she ends her letter to her ... This piece was made between 340 330 B.C. It is approximately 10 inches in height. The present location of this art piece is at The San Antonio Museum of Art in the Greek Late Classical section. Shedler (2010) found in a study by Abbass, Hancock, Henderson, Kisely, 2006), that clients who received short term psycho dynamic therapy yield a 0.97 effect size and post treatment 9 month follow up showed an effect size of 0.51. It is important to also note that post treatment outcomes effect size of 0.81 for change in somatic symptoms, which increased to 2.21 at long term follow up; an effect size of 1.08 for change in anxiety ratings, which increased to 1.35 at follow up; and an effect size of 0.59 for change in depressive ... • 35. The Literary Representation Of History Le drame de l Afrique, c est que l homme africain n est pas assez entré dans l histoire. (SARKOZY). Discuss the literary representation of history in relation to this controversial statement. Considered as la parole officielle française la plus raciste depuis longtemps , Nicholas Sarkozy s 2007 speech in Dakar elicited widespread disapproval (Heams, 2007). In highlighting a binary opposition between France and Africa; the progressive and the stagnant, Sarkozy reinforced a euro centric idea of progress whilst criticising the inadequate insertion of l homme africain into history (Sarkozy, 2007). In the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Europeans similarly believed that Africa lacked a collective historical consciousness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whilst the main body of the text serves to represent the history of the Baoulé people and their leader, Queen Pokou; in constantly questioning and subverting the narrative, Tadjo constructs alternative endings to the well known legend of the Ivory Coast (Ligaga, 2011: 488). One chapter that best exemplifies the dual meaning of histoire is La Traversée de l Atlantique , where Tadjo rewrites the original legend in the context of the transatlantic slave trade. Here, the use of language is emotive, enabling Tadjo to stress the cruelty of the trade. For example, the use of metonymy when describing the captives on their passage is unsettling (Cazenave and Célérité, 2011: 75 76). Corps contre corps, ballottés par les vagues (Tadjo, 2005: 58). This dehumanises the slaves and parallels their worth with that of commodities, as subalterns, corps . Similarly, the repetition of corps , elicits a disturbing image of slaves, both alive and dead, in close proximity in the hold. In grounding this version of the narrative in fact, Tadjo intensifies the emotional impact on the reader. We thus sympathise with the victims on both a factual and fictional level. The use of three successive nouns, ils avaient perdu leur visage, leur nom, leur lendemains , enables Tadjo to further illustrate the process of dehumanisation during the journey across the Atlantic (Tadjo, 2005: 59). • 36. Hamlet as So Much More Than a Traditional Revenge Tragedy... Hamlet as So Much More Than a Traditional Revenge Tragedy Although Shakespeare wrote Hamlet closely following the conventions of a traditional revenge tragedy, he goes far beyond this form in his development of Hamlet s character. Shakespeare s exploration of Hamlet s complex thoughts and emotions is perhaps more the focus of the play rather than that of revenge, thus in Hamlet Shakespeare greatly develops and enhances the form of the traditional revenge tragedy. The main source of Hamlet is Saxo Grammaticus Historiae Danicae, a folk tale that has a similar plot to Hamlet; however, Shakespeare greatly transforms this story of revenge when creating Hamlet. Shakespeare also draws upon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The revenge ghost is a convention Kyd took from Seneca s tragedies, and in fact, Don Andrea has similar parallels to the ghost of Achilles in Seneca s play Troades. The first appearance of the old king s ghost in the opening scene of Hamlet would have been suggestive of a revenge tragedy to an Elizabethan audience. However, the ghost does not demand revenge as Don Andrea does, but rather adds to the uncertainty and sense of foreboding in the scene. The play begins in a bitter cold night, bringing a sense of pathetic fallacy to the scene, as the setting adds to the sense of trouble in Denmark, as described by Horatio and Marcellus. It is not until Act I, Scene V that the ghost appears to Hamlet, demanding revenge [for] his foul and most unnatural murder, and thus introducing the theme of revenge in Hamlet. Although Hamlet proclaims that [he will] sweep to [his] revenge, he does not take his revenge until the final scene of the play. Hamlet s inaction and delay of his revenge is paralleled in The Spanish Tragedy, however the reasons for delay in Hamlet are somewhat different. In The Spanish Tragedy, immediately after Hieronimo discovers his son s body he claims that it is only in revenge [his] heart would find relief, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Dtc Advertising Effects Prescription or Poison: The Effects of Direct to Consumer Advertising New Zealand and the U.S are the only two countries in the world where Direct to Consumer (DTC) of prescription is legal. DTC of drugs means the commercials listing of potential problems and then suggesting a pill as a solution. These commercials often advertise drugs that are not FDA approved, as they are not required to. Drug manufacturing companies, not the doctors, put out these advertisements in media. These DTC ads used to have to go through doctors to get sold, but now they use DTCA to sell their products, therefore are not required to inform the consumer about all risks. In 2015, at solely retail pharmacies, over 4,065,000,000 prescriptions were filled within a year. However, it is estimated that the global market for pirated computer software is around $30 billion. This crime is concentrated in Western countries, where computer technologies are most prevalent. China, with its rapid industrialization and technological growth, is also involved to a significant degree in software piracy. The estimated market for software piracy in the United States is twice as large as the market in China. The global expansion of the Internet, the widespread use of credit cards, and the growth of electronic banking combine to facilitate a wide array of fraudulent activities. • 40. Comparing Apple Vs Samsung Most people have owned or own a Samsung device or Apple device. You may know these two amazing companies have been competing versus each other for the longest on trying to produce the better phone. Both companies produce the hottest smartphones on the market with all the latest features, from fingerprint scanner to waterproof technology. Even though they are the phones that are more expensive they are expensive for a reason, and the reason is because they have the latest technology and are built with great quality. I personally like Samsung over Apple because Samsung freely lets you organize and personalize your own phone, while Apple only really lets you change the wallpaper. First of all, these two companies have sold millions of phones to people worldwide. Samsung is a South Korean company while Apple is founded in the United States of America. Samsung sold approximately 83.4 million phones, but that number decreased because of the battery issue on the Samsung Note 7, which was a overheating problem that was causing the battery to overheat and then explode and there were some incidents that people reported burned them while their phone was on their pocket or while it was charging, and the number decreased to 76.7, while apple sold approximately 77 million phones. In the marketing industry this was a major issue because it affected the company really bad, with horrible feedback and sales decreased. This wasn t really a big problem to the company because they worked hard ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Foot Reflexology Research Papers Reflexology, also known as Zone Therapy, is a type of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM). It is purported to treat ailments by stimulating regions of the hands, ears and feet that are believed to correspond to other parts of the body in need of healing (Butler, 2012). Foot Reflexology in particular has ancient roots, and while there are virtually no scientific studies that support its legitimacy as a cure for illness, there is much anecdotal support for its ability to relieve stress and bring pain relief to its patients. Because a person s state of health involves not only physical, but also social and mental well being (World, 2017), the perception that Foot Reflexology is beneficial to healing is a factor that should not be overlooked. ... • 42. Analysis Of The Outsiders Do you know Dallas Winston is? Well let me tell you he is not nice. Dallas is a clod, mean, and tough person from the gang in The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. Later on in the book a member of the gang, Johnny dies from saving kids from a burning church. Also because of his bad record and personality. This fills Dally with hate and rage. For this reason Dally goes to a store to a store and robes it. Meeting his gang in the lot the police pull up with guns. Dally also has a gun without ammunition to scare people, but when he pulls it out the cops shoot without hesitation. Why did Dally bluff the cops? Well there is three reasons. His bad record, his personality, and lastly the death of Johnny. To begin with Dally pulled the gun out so the cops would shoot him is because of his bad record. First of all, Dally was arrested at the age of 10! This is stated in the text by S.E. Hinton on page ten Dally had spent three days on the wild side of New York and had been arrested at the age of ten. Next, to blow off steam when he was infuriated he would get into gang fights. This is also stated in the text on page eleven by S.E. Hinton In New York, Dally blew off steam in gang fights, but here, organized gangs are rarities there are just small bunches of friends who stick together, and the warfare is between the social classes. And above all, Dally would always get drunk, ride in rodeos, lie, cheat, steal, roll drunks, and jump little kids. This can be proven as the text states on page ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Importance Of Chemical Analysis Of Anthropology Is Not A... Iman Christin Wirawan Professor Stephen Acabado Anthropology 8 24 October 2015 The Importance of Chemical Analysis in Archaeology Anthropology is not a word that crosses people s minds very often, and when it does, it is most often associated with treasure hunting and dinosaurs. Those who have a vague idea of what anthropology that is, the study of human past and all that entails and its subfield, archaeology is, often think of both as one dimensional fields, when in reality, they are so much more. Anthropology is a multi disciplinary field of study combining various sciences, social and otherwise, to work together to paint a complete picture of humankind, one of the most complex species to ever walk on the planet, while archaeology is the study of human past through material remains. It is, therefore, ridiculous to assume that such a tall order can be accomplished by any single discipline. One of the most significant methods of verifying information in anthropology is chemical analysis, which can be used in a variety of ways. This essay will compare and contrast the use of analytical methods to investigate the bronze artifacts associated with the Xiongnu and pre Xiongnu period with those used to analyze the chemical compositions of volcanic rocks for adze production in late precontact Hawaiian archaic states and what the findings imply. Both analyses use energy dispersive x ray spectroscopy to determine the chemical contents of the artifacts to understand their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
