Renewable Energy Based Power Generation
Background The growing concern about the impact of CO2 and the anxiety on the effect of using
fossil fuels based power generation technology on the environment, in recent years, has made the
researchers to focusing on the renewable energy based clean power generation techniques to secure
the environment from carbon effect. Among the development of renewable energy based power
generation techniques, the solar power generation has a major role in clean power generation. The
sunlight is free of cost and everlasting energy sources, but the drawback of this method is that
generation of electricity is only possible during the sunshine. In PV system, the DC DC power
converters are used to change the output voltage from one level to another level [25 27]. Typically, the
DC DC converter is connected between the panel and the load, sequentially to extract the available
power from the panel using tracking methods. In this work, Boost converters and Super lift boost
converters [1] are used to extract the maximum power from the panel and two converters diagram is
shown in Figure 1a and Figure 1b respectively. Figure1a. Circuit diagram of Boost converter. The
Boost converter is a switch mode DC to DC converter in which the output voltage is greater than the
input voltage. It is also called as step up converter. The name step up converter comes from the fact
that analogous to step up transformer the input voltage is stepped up to a level greater than the input
voltage. By the law

Hamlet s Soliloquy in Branagh s Adaptation
In contrast to previous film adaptations of Shakespeare that have appeared mostly as filmed stage
productions, Kenneth Branagh approaches his Shakespeare films in a style more reminiscent of big
budget Hollywood movies (Crowl 26). For his 1996 Hamlet adaptation, Branagh chose a very
different style from the predominantly dark and moody medieval settings of previous stage and film
productions. Crowl describes the film as a bright, bold mirror in stunning contrast to Olivier s dark
impressionist maze. (28). Moving the time period forward to the Victorian era, Branagh s Elsinore

The Evolution of Grant in Ernest J. Gaines A Lesson...
After the Civil War ended, many blacks and whites, especially in the South, continued living as if
nothing had changed with regards to the oppression and poor treatment of African Americans.
Narrator Grant Wiggins, of Ernest J. Gaines A Lesson Before Dying, possesses a similar attitude
toward race relations. Through his experiences with a young man wrongly accused of murder, Grant
transforms from a pessimistic, hopeless, and insensitive man into a more selfless and compassionate
human being who can see the possibility of change in relations between whites and blacks.

For the majority of the novel, Grant denies that he can help Jefferson in any way at all. When his aunt
and Miss Emma request that Grant go talk to Jefferson to teach him that he is a man, Grant explains, It
is only a matter of weeks, maybe a couple of months but he s already dead...All I can do is try to keep
the others from ending up like this...There s nothing I can do anymore, nothing any of us can do
anymore (14). Before receiving extreme pressure from his aunt to comply, Grant goes so far as to
refuse to even attempt to help Jefferson. With this attitude that There s nothing [he] can do anymore,
Grant can, in fact, do nothing. Even though Grant correctly recognizes the fact that Jefferson will die
in a short while, he fails to acknowledge the possibility of working through the injustices to make a
difference. Grant, himself, feels stuck in his environment he is just running in place there yet he feels a
sort of responsibility for his people and an attraction to the town, and cannot bring himself to leave

Auguste Rodin s Works
The Thinker: Auguste Rodin sculpted the Thinker between 1881 and 1919. The original thinker is
currently located in Musée Rodin, which is located in Paris, France. The Thinker, originally
constructed to represent Dante Degli Alighieri pondering his famous poem, The Divine Comedy, was
made to be on top of the compositional piece Rodin created as an entranceway for the Musée des Arts
Décoratifs. This piece, known as The Gates of Hell, is based on Dante s 16th century poem, The
Divine Comedy. For this reason, the original name of The Thinker was The Poet; however, as the
piece began to gain precedence over The Gates of Hell, its name was changed, and today it is
commonly recognized as a symbol of philosophy and learning. The Thinker also became known as a
symbol of the socialist movement in France during 1906 and onwards, which was a time of political
and social turmoil. As a result of The Gates of Hell, Rodin s most famous works would appear to the
public. These pieces include The Kiss, The Age of Bronze, The Monument of Balzac, and The
Burghers of Calais. The Thinker was created at the front of Impressionist Sculpture; however, Auguste
Rodin never showed his work under the title of Impressionism, therefore it is difficult to associate
Rodin with this period of art. Rodin s work has remained one of the most innovative and

Compare And Contrast Kennedy And Nixon Election
Kennedy and Nixon Elections in the United States of America
John F. Kennedy vs. Richard Nixon In 1960 the Cold War tensions were rising, therefore the election
campaign was mainly dominated by this topic. Public opinion polls showed that more than a half of
American people thought the war with the Soviet Union was inevitable. The two candidates who
ended up chasing after the presidency were a barely known democrat senator John F. Kennedy and
vice president republican Richard Nixon. They both promised more advanced science and technology
in order to win the race with communism in these fields. At the beginning of his campaign, Kennedy
promised he would get the nation moving again and stated that the United States would have the will

people were choosing between change and experience and at some point the votes were almost

respected by his contenders and considered as a charismatic man beyond his political circle of
acquaintances. However, he is a moderated republican who doesn t hesitate to take a different position

Write a chronological overview (time line) of Maria Montessori s life and work. Indicate the life
events you feel were most significant in her development of the Montessori Method of education.
Describe how Montessori developed her approach. Include the factors occurring at that time in the
world that contributed to the method s popular acceptance. Education being a necessary part of our
lives, there has been several ways to teach a child and thus creating a teacher dominant learning. But,

In addition to the isolation, she found she had another problem. She was repelled by the smell of the
anatomy hall. When this became too complicated she tried smoking herself. Due to all these
challenges, her interests turned to pediatrics and psychiatry. This would be the beginning of her
lifelong work with children [4].
After graduating from the University of Rome in 1896, Montessori continued with her research at the
University s psychiatric clinic, and in 1897 she was accepted as a voluntary assistant there. Maria
opened her own medical clinic to treat children. In 1897, she became an assistant doctor at the
psychiatric clinic of the University of Rome. She began visiting asylums for mentally challenged and
handicapped children. Maria observed that the living conditions for these children were miserable.
The patients were kept like prisoners in dark, bare rooms with nothing to stimulate them. She
observed that it was not the medical problem but rather pedagogical one. It was this time when she
came across the work of two French doctors Edward Seguin and Jean Itard s experiments to educate
defective children. Maria observed these children picking up crumbs off of the floor and playing with
them. She realized that the children were using the crumbs as toys. Maria realized that these children
needed a special school that would meet their needs. While working at the asylum, Maria was

What Makes The Walt Disney Company Competitive
Successful companies such as the Walt Disney Company, along with its subsidiaries, always face
tough competition across their numerous markets. Competition is not only restricted to products and
services; each Disney segment also competes against other companies for talent. Recruiting creative
and skilled workers, and retain them is what makes the Walt Disney company leader within the
industry.
Disney Parks and Resorts business main competitors are Comcast Corp which owns the Universal
Studios theme parks, Six Flags Entertainment, and Cedar Fair, to name a few. The Disney Cruise Line
and its Disney Vacation Club brand compete with Carnival Corp in areas that also include

Five Residential Plumbing Myths Debunked
There are a lot of misconceptions when it comes to plumbing. If you are a homeowner, you might be
unknowingly making huge mistakes based on these myths. Fortunately, by knowing what these
common myths are you can avoid future plumbing problems. Here are five of the biggest residential
plumbing myths debunked:
1. It s Completely Normal For Faucets To Drip
If you are like most people, you probably don t give much thought to a dripping faucet. You might
even think it s normal. However, a dripping faucet is a huge indicator that there is a serious problem
lurking in your plumbing system. Not only does dripping water cost you extra money on your water
bill, it can also affect your water pressure. So if you begin to notice that faucets around your home are
dripping, consult a professional plumber. An inspection can reveal ... Show more content on

Everything Is Fine If It Drains Quickly
Perhaps one of the most costly myths is that the drains are fine, as long as the water drains quickly.
While this does make sense, it s not true. Clogs are often caused by debris buildup that occurs over
time. So just because everything seems to be working fine, doesn t actually mean it is fine. This is
why you should always be proactive and have a plumber inspect and clean your plumbing system
regularly.
4. Ice Cubes Sharpen Garbage Disposal Blades
Another common misconception is that ice cubes sharpen garbage disposal blades. Unfortunately, this
isn t true at all. In fact, tossing ice cubes down your garbage disposal might actually dull the blades.
This is because ice is abrasive and tough on the blades.
5. A Plunger Will Solve The Clog
Finally, if you are like most people you probably believe that all you need is a plunger to remove
clogs. While a plunger certainly can be used, it s not always the best tool for the job. In some cases, a
plunger might not fix the problem at all. So always have a snake or an auger on hand, as these two
tools can also help remove clogs or buildup in the pipe

The Lines By Jodi Picoult And Samantha Vanleer
For this portion of my summer assignment, I read Between the Lines by Jodi Picoult and Samantha
VanLeer. I have selected twelve important and meaningful passages from the novel as well as a Quote
of the Book . Between the Lines is about a girl, Delilah, and a book character, Oliver, that despite the
limits of the story, connect and can even speak to one another. Oliver had never felt as if he d
belonged in his book and dreaded living the same plot over and over every single time someone
opened his book. So, he asked Delilah to help him get to her world and leave the book. After many
failed attempts, Delilah, with the help of a boy named Edgar, is able to get Oliver out of the book, but
only because Edgar willingly switches places with Oliver. Finally, the passages I have selected are
ones that are important, if not necessary to the book, and it was difficult to only select thirteen total.
My first selected passage is from pages nineteen and twenty. I did not write the lines I speak; they
were given to me long before I remember. I mouth the words, but the actual sound is in the Reader s
mind, not coming from my throat. Similarly, all the moves that we make as if we re performing a play
somehow unravel across someone else s imagination. It is as if the action and sound on our tiny,
remote stage are being broadcast in the thoughts of the Reader. I m not sure that I ever really learned

Essay about The History of Dorthea Dix s Creation of...
The mental insane in the 1800s were treated as sins from God. If a family had a family member with a
mental disability during that period the family was expected to hide and be ashamed of that member.
Usually only the well being were able to hide the ill member, the lower classes because of the cost of a
useless extra family member, were forced to turn their insane member to the streets. Asylums for the
mental ill were first developed by Dorothea Dix after her horrified visit to Bedlam hospital. Dix single
handily helped transform asylums of the late 18th century into organized medical models that are seen
today. Thus, by Dix s need to help others and her determination to change the lives of the mental ill

She was a leading figure in those national and international movements that challenged the idea that
people with mental disturbances could not be cured or helped. (Parry5)
Asylum is an institution formed to care for the sick and especially the insane people. Bethlehem
hospital in London, England was one of the first hospitals to begin allowing the insane in. The policy
at the hospital was all was welcome and they would not turn anyone away no matter what. This saying
began an epitomic in England, all the towns heard of Bethlehem so they started to send their homeless
and instable villagers to the doors of the hospital. Over time the hospital became so full of the insane
they were unable to admit regular patients, so they changed their name to Bedlam since Bethlehem
was such a holy name. The overcrowding of Bedlam was out of control, the staff had to chain the
mental ill up to walls to protect others and themselves. Patients were treated in cages, closets, stalls,
[and] pens chained up naked, beaten with rods, and lashed into obedience. (Gollaher) The sick were
fed poorly and were treaded more like animals then humans. The church that owed Bedlam begin to
run out of money to fund the hospital so they come up with the idea for turning the insane into a
viewing show. The church began to conduct tours so they could continue to feed the patients. During
the tours the ill were taunted, poked, and abused by the tourists. Dix heard of these

Fox Hunting Should Be Banned Essay
Fox hunting is one form of hunting. It is a pursuit of a wild fox with a pack of hounds, which are
specially bred and trained for the sole purpose of fox hunting, and are followed by hunters who
usually ride on horses. When the hounds pick up the scent of a fox, they will follow it until the fox
evades them, goes to ground, or is overtaken and killed by the hounds. This form of hunting is
exercised in several countries around the world, but this essay will concentrate on fox hunting in the
United Kingdom. It has been practiced in Britain for around 300 years, with its popularity at its height
in the late 19th century. The debate concerning fox hunting has heated up in the past few years.
Those who support the hunt are driven by a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An opposing view is that the fox is not a serious threat to agriculture, and should not be considered as
a vermin. According to the League Against Cruel Sports the foxes actually help farmers by eating
small animals, such as rabbits, rats and voles, which are considered to be pests on arable land. In
addition, foxes are territorial animals, which means that once a fox is killed another soon moves into
its place from a surrounding area. Left to control their population naturally the number of foxes would
be controlled by scarcity of food, whereas when used fox hunting for controlling the populations, it
only serves to lessen the amount of the animals temporarily, for more foxes to take advantage of the
increase in food thus breeding again. Furthermore, foxes do not cause significant loss or damage in
livestock. For example the League Against Cruel Sports, an organization strongly against fox hunting,
mentions a York University study that states that only a minimal amount of 0.4% of lambs are killed
by foxes, and of other livestock the percentage is extremely low as well. According to the study foxes
are not a significant danger to livestock.
Supporters of fox hunting present the opinion that foxes do not suffer from stress or pain as a result of
the hunt. According to them, hunting with hounds allows the foxes to be killed immediately by one nip
to the back of the fox s neck, as the dogs are significantly larger than the

Summary Of A Model Of Christian Charity
In 1629, the Massachusetts Bay Company gathered a royal charter to settle a new Puritan colony in
New England. After losing patience with the english government and Charles the first for their dislike
of the puritan group, they did not fight fire with fire so they left to North America after hearing the
group found a new colony in New England. This would give them the ability to practice their beliefs
without persecution. As they ventured to the new colony, John Winthrop wrote a necessary sermon, A
Model of Christian Charity where he and his other founders kept record of hoping to achieve a
community remaining sole devoted to God, that stay true to Calvinism and who are united as a group.
A Model of Christian Charity was written to ensure that even when obstacles occur, the Puritans will
stay united rather than fighting amongst each other. That they will not let their struggle to start in a
new area take over their beliefs that they will have a strong society over the society in England.
Winthrop s sermon starts with the most first question that comes to mind when thinking of why people
are in the positions that they are in, why are some poor and others rich? To answer this, he addressed
three reasons why God wanted it to be that way. The first was that a variety of people means different
ways that god will be honored. Another reason was that the rich would perform acts of kindness to the
poor or less fortunate and this would further the spirit of the ideal life.

Athenian Democracy and Divination Essay
Athenian Democracy and Divination
Divination was a prevalent feature in Archaic Greece, as it provided objective advice, to assist people
in making appropriate decisions in problematic predicaments. In certain situations its ambiguity
allowed decisions to be postponed, or blame to be assigned to others. Divination was also used to
explain matters that seemed unexplainable, such as crop failure or drought. This is illustrated in the
Homeric epics, which depicts numerous oracle interpreters, such as Calchas, consulting oracles on
domestic, as well as, military decisions. Divination was a guiding authority in ancient society.
However, during the fifth and fourth century BC, the democratic ... Show more content on

Furthermore, when the Athenians suggest to the Melians that they should become allies with them,
against the Spartans, the Melians state:

In contrast, the Athenians dismiss the protection of the gods, and state:
This kind of attitude is not going to be of much help to you in your absurd conquest for safety at the
moment .[4]
Thucydides portrays the Athenians in an arrogant light, which suggests that they will get their
comeuppance for such sacrilegious opinions. Furthermore, Thucydides also highlights the scientific
approach that the Athenians have towards their domination of the Peloponnese, suggesting that it is
the law of nature , that they should conquer as much as they can. The rise of freethinking, that the
democracy had established, had lead to the neglect of the gods. In comparison, Xerxes, in his conquest
to dominate Greece, complies with a dream that is sent from the gods, which indicates to him and
Artabanus that he should continue with the Persian wars.[5] Herodotus, writing in the early fifth
century, highlights the importance of following divination, whereas, Thucydides, writing in the later
fifth century, focuses on decisions made by the people.

21st Century Skills in Education

people, economies and cultures have become inextricably connected, driven by the Internet, new
innovations and low cost telecommunications technology. A computer is a must, to be a successful

One thing I m certain about is that a change is happening at an increasing rate and therein the jobs of
yesterday, today and tomorrow will be the dinosaurs of maximum 10 years from now. It might be a
whimsical concept, but what we should do is teach our students the skills needed for as yet invented
jobs. Yet, aren t we preparing them for the future anyway?
While education is evolving and adapting to the 21st century, teachers learn as much as the students
do, when that happens, a reflexive link is created in the classroom between the teacher and the
students, which activates many of the skills mentioned before, for both parties, required for a
successful 21st century learning experience.
While we learn that technological literacy is crucial, we need to find the compromise and not take
everything for granted, just because it is available doesn t mean it is essential, for example, if we all

Structure And Purpose Of The Human Genome Project
Human Genome Research Paper
Everything that you are made up of comes from the same set of unique sequences inside your body.
All of your traits, characteristics, actions, and functions are controlled and created from a set of
genetic instructions. These instructions are called a genome. The human genome contains endless
amounts of information. Scientists have been working for years on ways to unlock the human genome
and gain access to all the information it holds. These studies presents multiple benefits but also come
with some controversy. Despite that, the human genome has been the focus of scientific interest for
years, and for a understandable reasons.
According to the UXL Encyclopedia of Science, A genome is an organism s entire set of genetic
information. In living organisms, that means its entire set of DNA, deoxyribonucleic acid, the
molecule that encodes genetic instructions. ( Genome 2015). Each genome contains all of the
information needed to build and maintain that organism. All of this information is embedded within a
sequence of base pairs that is over 6 billion bases long. By analyzing and reading the order of the
bases, scientists can begin to understand the structure and purpose of the human genome. However
this process is very long and tedious. Few attempts to decode the human genome had been made
before the Human Genome Project.
The Human Genome Project impacted the course of science and discovery forever. It was one of the

A Friendship That Was At One Point Strong And Powerful...
A friendship that was at one point strong and powerful between two of our founding fathers then
became challenging through their differences in belief in their political views. John Adams and
Thomas Jefferson friendship began when they met at the 1775 Continental Congress in Philadelphia.
The two developed a strong respect and liking for one another. They both worked together on the
committee to draft the Declaration of Independence in 1776. On 1784 Thomas Jefferson joined Adams
in France on diplomatic service. They would work together and keep each other a great deal of
company, their bond grew greater while serving as ambassadors to England and France. Jefferson wife

Public Libraries Should Not Block Internet Pornography
Since the internet has been available in schools and libraries in this country, there has been a debate
about what should be accessible to users, especially minors. The amount of information disseminated
on the world wide web is vast, with some sources valuable for scholarly and personal research and
entertainment, and some sources that contain material that is objectionable to some (ie. pornography,
gambling, hate groups sites, violent materials). Some information potentially accessible on the internet
such as child pornography and obscenity is strictly illegal and is not protected under the First
Amendment. Some information available on the internet that may be valuable to some is at the same

Plaintiffs claimed that constitutionally protected materials were wrongly blocked and that the
Loudoun Policy violated their First Amendment rights. The court agreed and found the Loudoun
Policy of filtering for all patrons unconstitutional. The court held that there were less restrictive means
available to achieve the privacy level demanded by the Loudoun County community than interfering
with free speech. Less restrictive, in the court s opinion, were privacy screens for computer monitors
and a certain degree of physical monitoring by library staff.
Congress made an attempt to place content based restrictions on school and public library internet use
in the Children s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) of 2000. This act requires the use of some type of
internet filtering software for all public libraries that attain funds from the Federal government (in the
form of E rate discounts or Library Services and Technology Act grants). Should a library refuse to
comply with CIPA guidelines, that library would have to maintain its technological services without
the government discount or LSTA grants. Holding to the CIPA guidelines, both the E rate and LSTA
stipulate that filters may be disabled or legitimate sites unblocked by adults who request it, but it is
unclear whether libraries must provide for such disabling (Anten 79).
After CIPA was passed, it was immediately challenged by the

Creutzfeldt-Cattle Disease Study
An experiment took place that showed that the brains of mice injected with tissue from a human with
Alzheimer s exhibited changes that are tied to the disease. This is suggesting that some cases of

Our findings open the possibility that some of the sporadic Alzheimer s cases may arise from an
infectious process, which occurs with other neurological diseases such as mad cow and its human
form, Creutzfeldt Jakob disease, said Dr. Claudio Soto, professor of neurology at the University of
Texas. Creutzfeldt Jakob disease (CJD) is a so called prion disease meaning it is caused by misshapen

Love At First Sight In Nobel By Mabel Sparknotes
Love at first sight is when two people meet eye to eye and instantly connect amongst each other. In the
beginning of the narrative Mabel s brothers are aggressively mean to her, questioning her every move
towards her next plans after the selling of their house. With every question, a cold answer would
follow. It was clear that Mabel was misunderstood from her relatives and now more than ever she felt
alone. The doctor was unaware of Mabel s existence until their first encounter in her diner kitchen.
Author Lawrence s way of writing helped readers use their context clues to symbolize their eye
contact was meaningful. Unlike most greetings, theirs were long regardless of the people that were in
the room. Which in most cases means so much more. Given this was the first encounter of the two
characters, I would assume something very magical would occur later on in the story because of their
strong first interaction. As previously stated, Mabel s parents are no longer alive. As the story
progresses Mabel decided to visit her mother s grave. Coincidently, her mother s grave is next to the
doctor s office building. The doctor finds his way to his window where another strong eye ... Show

decides to walk to the the park s lake. Knowing that the doctor is casually following she decides to
enter the lake and purposely not swim. The doctor quickly races to the pond and without a hesitation

Returning Home Alive Creative Writing
It has been quite some time since I have last seen you. If all goes well, hopefully I will be able to see
you again! People are dying all around me and I fear I may be next. I thought that I would write to let
you know that I am fortunately well but there are many things that have been troubling me. On the
first day of battle, many soldiers were sent in to the area between our land and our enemy s land, what
we call no man s land . It was muddy and the tanks were unable to make it through, leaving our men
vulnerable. So many men died that I began to lose hope that I could ever return back home alive.

unwelcoming. How I wish I had some of your delicious meals to eat, as the food here is tasteless,
disgustingly chewy and simply awful. I receive little food and it is always chunks of fatty meat and
vegetables in thin gravy. It has been forever since I have had a hot meal or even a clean shower. A

day after day, countless soldiers fall and these fat disgusting rats eat away at the dead remains of my
brave fellow soldiers. These dirty, wet trenches near the Somme River in France are a true nightmare.

Human Activity And Its Impact On Creation
Introduction
There is indisputable evidence that the planet earth, the home of all life; wildlife, water, land, and air
can be damaged by human activities, consequently making people suffer. Once this happens, it is
egregious especially from the fact that creation serves as the revelation of God s presence, majesty,
and provision. Irrespective of the point that not every person physically hears God s revelation from
the scripture; every humanity has access to God s cosmic revelation; the heavens, the waters, the
natural order, the beauty of nature (Psalm 19, Romans 1). Our presumption is that human activity is
mixed in its impact on creation; sometimes productive and caring, but often irresponsible, avoidable
and sinful. The command from God to tend and keep the earth has never passed away from the fall
man; this means that man still bears responsibility of keeping and tending the earth. Therefore, lack of
concern and failure to take action carefully as followers of Christ is a poor reflection to the rest of the
world. In this particular case, we take responsibility for the damage that we have done to God s
cosmic revelation and pledge to take a resolute stance in preserving and protecting the creation over
which we have been assigned responsibility by God Himself.
Climate and Climatic Change Challenges

Government And Public Policy In The Public And Local...
Public policy is created by addressing complicated issues which affect communities. Public policy
requires a collaboration of ideas with purposes and the means of achieving them. Society plays an
important role in policymaking and utilization, which improves implementation not only in the public
sector but also in the private sector (Peters, 2016). Government agencies at all levels can manage and
support policies.
A reported by Professor Donald F. Kettl (2014) described local zoning officials in Oso, Washington
did not inform people of the potential risk of building their homes on the hillside. Also, federal, state,
and local officials did not share information well enough, so that decision makers were not aware of
the risks involved (Kettl,2014). The inadequate communication and collaboration between the levels
of government resulted in lack of resources for tragedy stricken communities. For instance, local
nonprofit agencies offered more aid than federal, state, and local governments and national
organizations.
The mudslide tragedy of Oso, Washington buried many homes and 44 people lost their lives. Natural
disasters are incidents that affect the population by causing physical and emotional damages, loss of
life, property damages, and sometimes emphasizes the failure of public administrative processes
(Donahue Tuohy,2006, p.5). The federal government knows more about the risks, but they do not have
power to act (Kettl,2014, p.3). Also, local governments have the power

Mandate Of Heaven Analysis
Throughout pre unification China, the Mandate of Heaven was used as a justification in the
acquisition and eradication of dynasties. The Mandate of Heaven, the idea that a ruler reigned only
with the blessing of the heavens, was seen as a way to legitimize a dynasty and its ruler. Although it
may seem as if a heavenly mandate gives a ruler absolute power, this is actually not the case. Instead,
Mencius, a philosopher who emphasizes benevolent governance, asserts that a ruler can both acquire
and lose the heavenly mandate based on his behavior and the treatment of his subjects. If a ruler is not
equitable, in other words, the Mandate of Heaven can be withdrawn and bestowed upon a more
qualified ruler. Thus, although the mandate sounds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Essentially, the heavens bestow the mandate upon the ruler, but the people are a factor in whether the
mandate stays with the ruler or not. Hence, Mencius emphasizes the importance of just rule in order to
please the people and keep the Mandate of Heaven.
Mencius once again underscores the people s role in the heavenly mandate and declares their right to
either abide by or revolt against a ruler. Mencius claims that rulers only possessed the Heavenly
Mandate to rule so long as they retained the hearts of the people . . . For Mencius, the human heart
was endowed with the ability to judge between right and wrong and constituted a bridge linking man
with Heaven (Glanville 331). Mencius s belief in the ability of the heart to determine right or wrong
gives the common people authority and power to identify whether a ruler is worthy of the mandate and
the favor of the heavens. Consequently, it is imperative that the ruler retains the people s support as
negative sentiments can lead to dissent and organized revolt amongst the people. This emphasis on the
intimate and powerful link between the people and the heavens is translated in Mencius s concept of
the ultimate supremacy of the people. Mencius declares that The people are of supreme importance;
the altars to the gods of earth and grain come next; last comes the ruler (Glanville 332). Mencius
prioritizes the

Cloud Computing Research Paper
Cloud Computing Research Paper Introduction Cloud computing is revolutionizing the use software
globally at a very rapid pace as it is completely redefining the economics of how software is
purchased and used. Web 2.0 technologies and their underlying design precepts are responsible for the
current and future generations of social networks (Bernoff, Li, 2008). Both have immediate and
significant impacts on the operations of businesses and the major contributions each makes are
explained in this analysis. Analysis of the Business Uses of the Cloud and Web 2.0 Technologies
Cloud computing has drastically reordered the economics of how every size and type of business uses
software. For the large enterprise there is no longer the need to go through an extensive capital
expense (CAPEX) budgeting process, often involving the board of directors of a business (Aljabre,
2012). Cloud computing software is often pad for through operating expense (OPEX) budgets, which
shifts the control of its budgeting to the line of business managers or those managers and executives
responsible for a given business unit. This dynamic alone has completely reordered the enterprise
software market, as cloud based applications can often be modified significantly faster than on
premise applications (Lin, Chen, 2012). As a result of this flexibility, enterprises, medium size and
small businesses are all relying on cloud based applications to automate those process areas that had
been expensive and

The Importance Of An Effective Teacher
Educating is as intricate as the learning procedure is for each student. Educating is not just lecturing in
front of the class and later on give them tests to assess their knowledge. Being a teacher your style
must adapt constantly for the diversity of the children in our classroom as well as their learning styles.
To be viable in my work, planning and managing your time is crucial in setting up appropriate lesson
plans for the children. I trust that with information I have accumulated throughout the years on the
qualities of an effective teacher, I will have the capacity to arrange strategies and imaginatively design
strategies for difficulties and issues that I will experience in the classroom environment. The key to
success would be to always keep in mind the child s needs and to understand how society is evolving.
The learning process isn t the same in all children but instead it is an intricate procedure where each
student learns differently even as they get older. This occurs by the brain and its astounding ability to
recall occasions and learn things. Not all children are the same so it is important to figure out and
understand how their brain works. The brain is separated into three principle areas to be specific, the
forebrain which is in charge of the learning process, the midbrain and hindbrain. Located in the
midbrain is the cerebral cortex, which is in charge of memory, recognition and thought. Having
realized that the mind is involved in learning, it

This book had a lot to do with religion because people were scared and looked to God for answers. A
quote that I believe goes with this is one from Corrie where she says , Lord Jesus, You were called to a
hearing, too. Show me what to do. (Page 118 of Chapter 11) This reiterates that she was looking to
God on what she should do. A theme that branches off of religion was faith. Faith played a very
important role throughout the book, from normal practices of faith in the beginning of the book to
Corrie using faith to keep strong in the labor camps. One quote that I feel describes this is, But if God
has shown us bad times ahead it s enough for that he knows about them. That s why he sometimes
shows us things you know, to tell us that this too is in his hands, (page 50 of Chapter 5) This quote
shows that Corrie has faith in God that he has it all under control. All in all, I enjoyed reading this
book a lot. It showed me a lot of different side of the Holocaust that I previously did not know. I think
the best way to prevent terrible events from history from happening again is to learn more about them,

Learning About Medieval Life and Society from Chaucer s General Prologue to the Canterbury Tales
I have been studying Geoffrey Chaucer s General Prologue to the Canterbury Tales, of which I looked
specifically at six portraits, these being: the Knight, his son, a young squire, the prioress, the wife of
Bath, the Miller and the Pardoner. From these portraits I was able to observe the ways of life and
society in medieval times. I found out about social status, fashion, wealth, romantic love, the
importance of manners and the church during this era and these are just the topics I took particular
interest in; there were many other areas of medieval life and society that Chaucer s General Prologue

From Chaucer s Prologue to the Canterbury Tales, the wealth of a portrait linked them to their social
status and often to the fashion of this time also; the wife of Bath is an example of this. She was a good
looking woman who had had five husbands in total, and she was very well off due to her profession in
cloth making which Chaucer explains to be the best Of clooth making she hadde swich an haunt, She
passed hem of Ypres and of Gaunt . Her social status was very high, as she was the first woman in the
church to make an offering to the parish priest, but she used her status to her advantage, for if
someone went before her she was out of alle charitee (she would be very angry) and would not give
her offering. Her high status also linked in with the fashion of this era. She wore scarlet stockings,
which is very much a status symbol because of the colour, but also, the wife of Bath wore shoes ful
moiste and newe these would have been soft leather shoes which were very expensive. The expense
gone into her clothing reflects her social status and also her wealth very much so.
The prioress is another portrait that resembles the link between social status and fashion, bringing
wealth into the link also, due to having such a high status. The prioress is one of the group who

Capital in banks play an essential role of helping banks remain solvent by absorbing losses caused due
to stress conditions. In this paper, we shall analyse how capital helps banks manage their risk, what led
to banks failing during the financial crisis and what measures have been adopted to avoid (or better
manage) such situations in future.
DEFINING BANK CAPITAL
Banks capital is defined to be the difference between the assets and liabilities of a bank.
It is the net worth of the bank or its value to investors. It is stated along the liabilities side of the
balance sheet.
Main characteristics of bank capital
No contractual repayment requirements: Unlike other liabilities, bank capital is perpetual. As long as
bank continues to be in business, it is not obliged to repay the shareholders.
Low priority in case of bankruptcy: In case of insolvency or bankruptcy, capital investors only receive
what remains after paying all the creditors. Capital generally ranks low in case of claims as compared
to most of the other claimants.
Constituents of bank capital
Tier 1 Capital also known as core capital includes permanent shareholders equity and disclosed
reserves.
Tier 2 Capital (supplementary capital) includes undisclosed reserves, revaluation reserves, general
provisions, hybrid capital instruments and subordinate term debt subject to certain conditions.

Ecological Impact Of Fur Trade On American Culture
When the Europeans visitors started coming to North America they hoped to find vast amounts of gold
and silver, but they found something else, which proved to be just as valuable as furs. The ecological
impact of the fur trade on the Indians of the North America demonstrates that the Indians were not the
beneficiaries, but the victims in fur trade with all the other Europeans countries which affected them
socially, environmentally and economically. French and the English fisherman in 1500 s were the first
to purchase fur from the Indians, in exchange the Indians received European manufactured goods such
as knives, guns and steel blades, for example according to the text Indigenous Peoples of the Arctic,
Subarctic, and Northwest Coast. Ed said, That could be fitted to traditional adzes to cut more

required a drastic change in motor habits and coordination patterns. 1 Many fishermen abandoned

This is a topic that will effect everyone, those 65 and above, and those 65 and below. Both sides of the
argument are very persuasive and their perspectives can be found below.
· Brief History of Social Security
President Franklin D. Roosevelt, a Democratic President, invented Social Security as part of The New
Deal in the year 1935. Its invention was to combat the The Great Depression . It was invented along
with welfare to help America s elderly, disabled, and unemployed.
How Social Security functioned was a part of the workers check would be deducted and given to the
elderly as Social Security at that present time. Then in turn when that person came of age to retire
(generally 65) America s working force at the time would support them with a monthly check.
Sometimes that check would coincide with how much they made when they were working but not
always.
Since its creation in 1935 the Republican Party has been trying to change it. In 1935 the Republican
party opposed its creation, in 1964 the Republican party tried to make it voluntary , and now there is a
new debate on Social Security and privatizing it or parts of it.

as part of his policies. Soon after he took office though things changed as he began to implement plans

Gene Therapy Research Paper Gene therapy is described as the transplantation of normal genes into
cells in place of missing or defective ones in order to correct genetic disorders. 1 During the 1960 s
and early 70 s the actual concept of what is now known to be gene therapy arose. Many new practices
including the development of genetically marked cell lines and the delineation of cells transformation
by the papaovaviruses polyoma were in the works. Cloned genes became a product of this new DNA
technique and were used to prove that foreign genes could actually correct genetic disorders.2 This
new technology in the medical field has a wide range of uses that is constantly growing larger as
scientists continue to study and experiment with it. As of right now, the uses of gene therapy in the
medical field consist of replacing missing or defective genes, delivering genes that speed the
destruction of cancer cells, supplying genes that cause cancer cells to revert to their normality,
delivering bacterial or viral genes as a form of vaccination, providing genes that promote or impede
the growth of new tissue and delivering genes that stimulate the healing of damaged tissue.3 With this
information, a wide variety of genes are now being used for testing within gene therapy. In the mid
1980 s the first use of gene therapy was practiced and then seen in a four year old girl when she
became the first gene therapy patient on September 14, 1990 at the NH Clinical Center. This four year

Essay on Reader Response to The Silmarillion by J.R.R....
Position Paper: Reader response
I read a book the other day. It was a wonderful book called The Silmarillion by J.R.R. Tolkien. I really
enjoyed it; it gives the background information on the creation of Middle Earth. In it, Tolkien tells us
of Illúvatar, Eä, the Valar and the birth of Elves, Dwarves and Men. But, you know, I don t think it has
anything at all to do with Elves, Dwarves, Men and some god named Illúvatar. I think Tolkien really
wanted to write a Biblical allegory and a critique on ridiculous human nature really is. Illúvatar is a
substitution for God, the Valar substitute the Angels and the three god made races are representative of
human races. I think he didn t use more races because that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now this letter is included in a book titled, The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien, on pages 143 161. More
importantly, it is in the preface to The Silmarillion, pages xi xxiv. In short, my taking the view that this
novel is a Biblical allegory completely undermines what the author had in mind when he wrote The
Silmarillion and even The Lord of the Rings. Technically, I can still take this view because Reader
response criticism allows me too. I don t have to worry about what the author wanted, and maybe that
is why the opinion that The Silmarillion is a biblical allegory is a widely shared opinion.
One of the advantages to reader response is that the reader can read a novel the way they desire. It
beats adhering to Marxist, Psychoanalytical or Feminist criticism. It gives more of a chance for the
reader to be creative, and it gives a reader the chance to do the right thing, and maybe research the
author a little bit. On the negative side, it gives the reader the chance to say, this is what it means,
because I said so or it s my opinion, and you can t change it . I think that that is the major draw back to
this school of criticism. A person can read anything into anything and if they are not a responsible
critic, well then, anything s possible as long as you can prove it.

  • 2. Renewable Energy Based Power Generation Background The growing concern about the impact of CO2 and the anxiety on the effect of using fossil fuels based power generation technology on the environment, in recent years, has made the researchers to focusing on the renewable energy based clean power generation techniques to secure the environment from carbon effect. Among the development of renewable energy based power generation techniques, the solar power generation has a major role in clean power generation. The sunlight is free of cost and everlasting energy sources, but the drawback of this method is that generation of electricity is only possible during the sunshine. In PV system, the DC DC power converters are used to change the output voltage from one level to another level [25 27]. Typically, the DC DC converter is connected between the panel and the load, sequentially to extract the available power from the panel using tracking methods. In this work, Boost converters and Super lift boost converters [1] are used to extract the maximum power from the panel and two converters diagram is shown in Figure 1a and Figure 1b respectively. Figure1a. Circuit diagram of Boost converter. The Boost converter is a switch mode DC to DC converter in which the output voltage is greater than the input voltage. It is also called as step up converter. The name step up converter comes from the fact that analogous to step up transformer the input voltage is stepped up to a level greater than the input voltage. The Thinker, originally constructed to represent Dante Degli Alighieri pondering his famous poem, The Divine Comedy, was made to be on top of the compositional piece Rodin created as an entranceway for the Musée des Arts Décoratifs. This piece, known as The Gates of Hell, is based on Dante s 16th century poem, The Divine Comedy. For this reason, the original name of The Thinker was The Poet; however, as the piece began to gain precedence over The Gates of Hell, its name was changed, and today it is commonly recognized as a symbol of philosophy and learning. As a result of The Gates of Hell, Rodin s most famous works would appear to the public. These pieces include The Kiss, The Age of Bronze, The Monument of Balzac, and The Burghers of Calais. According to the League Against Cruel Sports the foxes actually help farmers by eating small animals, such as rabbits, rats and voles, which are considered to be pests on arable land. In addition, foxes are territorial animals, which means that once a fox is killed another soon moves into its place from a surrounding area. Left to control their population naturally the number of foxes would be controlled by scarcity of food, whereas when used fox hunting for controlling the populations, it only serves to lessen the amount of the animals temporarily, for more foxes to take advantage of the increase in food thus breeding again. Furthermore, foxes do not cause significant loss or damage in livestock. After losing patience with the english government and Charles the first for their dislike of the puritan group, they did not fight fire with fire so they left to North America after hearing the group found a new colony in New England. This would give them the ability to practice their beliefs without persecution. As they ventured to the new colony, John Winthrop wrote a necessary sermon, A Model of Christian Charity where he and his other founders kept record of hoping to achieve a community remaining sole devoted to God, that stay true to Calvinism and who are united as a group. A Model of Christian Charity was written to ensure that even when obstacles occur, the Puritans will stay united rather than fighting amongst each other. That they will not let their struggle to start in a new area take over their beliefs that they will have a strong society over the society in England. Winthrop s sermon starts with the most first question that comes to mind when thinking of why people are in the positions that they are in, why are some poor and others rich? To answer this, he addressed three reasons why God wanted it to be that way. The first was that a variety of people means different ways that god will be honored. Another reason was that the rich would perform acts of kindness to the poor or less fortunate and this would further the spirit of the ideal life. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 24. Love At First Sight In Nobel By Mabel Sparknotes Love at first sight is when two people meet eye to eye and instantly connect amongst each other. In the beginning of the narrative Mabel s brothers are aggressively mean to her, questioning her every move towards her next plans after the selling of their house. With every question, a cold answer would follow. It was clear that Mabel was misunderstood from her relatives and now more than ever she felt alone. The doctor was unaware of Mabel s existence until their first encounter in her diner kitchen. Author Lawrence s way of writing helped readers use their context clues to symbolize their eye contact was meaningful. Unlike most greetings, theirs were long regardless of the people that were in the room. Which in most cases means so much more. Given this was the first encounter of the two characters, I would assume something very magical would occur later on in the story because of their strong first interaction. As previously stated, Mabel s parents are no longer alive. As the story progresses Mabel decided to visit her mother s grave. Coincidently, her mother s grave is next to the doctor s office building. On the first day of battle, many soldiers were sent in to the area between our land and our enemy s land, what we call no man s land . It was muddy and the tanks were unable to make it through, leaving our men vulnerable. So many men died that I began to lose hope that I could ever return back home alive. • 28. Human Activity And Its Impact On Creation Introduction There is indisputable evidence that the planet earth, the home of all life; wildlife, water, land, and air can be damaged by human activities, consequently making people suffer. Once this happens, it is egregious especially from the fact that creation serves as the revelation of God s presence, majesty, and provision. Irrespective of the point that not every person physically hears God s revelation from the scripture; every humanity has access to God s cosmic revelation; the heavens, the waters, the natural order, the beauty of nature (Psalm 19, Romans 1). Our presumption is that human activity is mixed in its impact on creation; sometimes productive and caring, but often irresponsible, avoidable and sinful. The command from God to tend and keep the earth has never passed away from the fall man; this means that man still bears responsibility of keeping and tending the earth. Therefore, lack of concern and failure to take action carefully as followers of Christ is a poor reflection to the rest of the world. In this particular case, we take responsibility for the damage that we have done to God s cosmic revelation and pledge to take a resolute stance in preserving and protecting the creation over which we have been assigned responsibility by God Himself. • 29. Government And Public Policy In The Public And Local... Public policy is created by addressing complicated issues which affect communities. Public policy requires a collaboration of ideas with purposes and the means of achieving them. Society plays an important role in policymaking and utilization, which improves implementation not only in the public sector but also in the private sector (Peters, 2016). Government agencies at all levels can manage and support policies. A reported by Professor Donald F. Kettl (2014) described local zoning officials in Oso, Washington did not inform people of the potential risk of building their homes on the hillside. Also, federal, state, and local officials did not share information well enough, so that decision makers were not aware of the risks involved (Kettl,2014). The inadequate communication and collaboration between the levels of government resulted in lack of resources for tragedy stricken communities. For instance, local nonprofit agencies offered more aid than federal, state, and local governments and national organizations. The mudslide tragedy of Oso, Washington buried many homes and 44 people lost their lives. Natural disasters are incidents that affect the population by causing physical and emotional damages, loss of life, property damages, and sometimes emphasizes the failure of public administrative processes (Donahue Tuohy,2006, p.5). • 30. Mandate Of Heaven Analysis Throughout pre unification China, the Mandate of Heaven was used as a justification in the acquisition and eradication of dynasties. The Mandate of Heaven, the idea that a ruler reigned only with the blessing of the heavens, was seen as a way to legitimize a dynasty and its ruler. Although it may seem as if a heavenly mandate gives a ruler absolute power, this is actually not the case. Instead, Mencius, a philosopher who emphasizes benevolent governance, asserts that a ruler can both acquire and lose the heavenly mandate based on his behavior and the treatment of his subjects. If a ruler is not equitable, in other words, the Mandate of Heaven can be withdrawn and bestowed upon a more qualified ruler. Thus, although the mandate sounds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Essentially, the heavens bestow the mandate upon the ruler, but the people are a factor in whether the mandate stays with the ruler or not. Hence, Mencius emphasizes the importance of just rule in order to please the people and keep the Mandate of Heaven. Mencius once again underscores the people s role in the heavenly mandate and declares their right to either abide by or revolt against a ruler. Mencius claims that rulers only possessed the Heavenly Mandate to rule so long as they retained the hearts of the people . . . For Mencius, the human heart was endowed with the ability to judge between right and wrong and constituted a bridge linking man with Heaven (Glanville 331). Mencius s belief in the ability of the heart to determine right or wrong gives the common people authority and power to identify whether a ruler is worthy of the mandate and the favor of the heavens. Consequently, it is imperative that the ruler retains the people s support as negative sentiments can lead to dissent and organized revolt amongst the people. This emphasis on the intimate and powerful link between the people and the heavens is translated in Mencius s concept of the ultimate supremacy of the people. Mencius declares that The people are of supreme importance; the altars to the gods of earth and grain come next; last comes the ruler (Glanville 332). Mencius prioritizes the ... Cloud Computing Research Paper Cloud Computing Research Paper Introduction Cloud computing is revolutionizing the use software globally at a very rapid pace as it is completely redefining the economics of how software is purchased and used. Web 2.0 technologies and their underlying design precepts are responsible for the current and future generations of social networks (Bernoff, Li, 2008). Both have immediate and significant impacts on the operations of businesses and the major contributions each makes are explained in this analysis. Analysis of the Business Uses of the Cloud and Web 2.0 Technologies Cloud computing has drastically reordered the economics of how every size and type of business uses software. For the large enterprise there is no longer the need to go through an extensive capital expense (CAPEX) budgeting process, often involving the board of directors of a business (Aljabre, 2012). Cloud computing software is often pad for through operating expense (OPEX) budgets, which shifts the control of its budgeting to the line of business managers or those managers and executives responsible for a given business unit. This dynamic alone has completely reordered the enterprise software market, as cloud based applications can often be modified significantly faster than on premise applications (Lin, Chen, 2012). As a result of this flexibility, enterprises, medium size and small businesses are all relying on cloud based applications to automate those process areas that had been expensive and ... The learning process isn t the same in all children but instead it is an intricate procedure where each student learns differently even as they get older. This occurs by the brain and its astounding ability to recall occasions and learn things. Not all children are the same so it is important to figure out and understand how their brain works. The brain is separated into three principle areas to be specific, the forebrain which is in charge of the learning process, the midbrain and hindbrain. Gene Therapy Research Paper Gene Therapy Research Paper Gene therapy is described as the transplantation of normal genes into cells in place of missing or defective ones in order to correct genetic disorders. 1 During the 1960 s and early 70 s the actual concept of what is now known to be gene therapy arose. Many new practices including the development of genetically marked cell lines and the delineation of cells transformation by the papaovaviruses polyoma were in the works. Cloned genes became a product of this new DNA technique and were used to prove that foreign genes could actually correct genetic disorders.2 This new technology in the medical field has a wide range of uses that is constantly growing larger as scientists continue to study and experiment with it. As of right now, the uses of gene therapy in the medical field consist of replacing missing or defective genes, delivering genes that speed the destruction of cancer cells, supplying genes that cause cancer cells to revert to their normality, delivering bacterial or viral genes as a form of vaccination, providing genes that promote or impede the growth of new tissue and delivering genes that stimulate the healing of damaged tissue.3 With this information, a wide variety of genes are now being used for testing within gene therapy. Technically, I can still take this view because Reader response criticism allows me too. I don t have to worry about what the author wanted, and maybe that is why the opinion that The Silmarillion is a biblical allegory is a widely shared opinion. One of the advantages to reader response is that the reader can read a novel the way they desire. It beats adhering to Marxist, Psychoanalytical or Feminist criticism. It gives more of a chance for the reader to be creative, and it gives a reader the chance to do the right thing, and maybe research the author a little bit. On the negative side, it gives the reader the chance to say, this is what it means, because I said so or it s my opinion, and you can t change it .
