Outsourcing Of The American Dream
As more and more students graduate, they begin to look for work; hoping for a job capable of paying
off their debts and making their chosen degree worthwhile. In America, we are running into the
problem of a lack of jobs, requiring a degree or not. From service jobs to white collar jobs, ...more
than 14 million jobs are vulnerable to being outsources offshore. (Roberts).College graduates that are
native to America are struggling to find work due to the outsourcing of jobs, in turn damaging our
economy. It is common sense that the more jobs we give away, the less jobs there will be for newly
college graduates to work. Although they were once known as the jobs of the American Dream , they
are now simply not American. Outsourcing used to not worry me, because I thought the jobs that were
outsourced were the minimum wage, labor required jobs but I was wrong. These are not only call
center operators, customer service and back office jobs, but also information technology, accounting,
architecture.....etc. (Roberts). It used to be that if you spent the time and money to earn a degree, you
would almost be guaranteed a job. Now days, even the jobs that require 4+ years of school are being
sent overseas, leaving no hope for the new generations entering our work force. Not only is this
outsourcing causing companies to lose their best employees, but also the consumers that buy their
products. Employees displaced by foreigners and left unemployed or in lower paid work have

Lester Burnham Essay
The Psychological Evolution of Lester Burnham With roughly ten percent of American adults
suffering from depression, it is no surprise that the disorder is commonly embodied in both literature
and film ( Facts Amp; Statistics. ). One such example of depression personified in a fictitious
character can be found in the 1999 drama American Beauty. Directed by Sam Mendes, husband and
father Lester Burnham experiences symptoms of depression, resulting in an extreme midlife crisis,
ultimately leading to his own demise. Although many assume depression stems solely from traumatic
events or genetic predispositions, Lester s symptoms arise from much more surreptitious and
precarious circumstances: the repetitiveness of Middle America. With a thorough ... Show more

However the film is not centered on depression, but the cure for it. The final phase in Lester s life is
based on pure happiness, and not even being murdered can take the beauty of Lester s life away from
him. Not everyone can live the life of a celebrity or a president, but every American s personhood can
evolve in the way Lester s did, to find beauty in the unforgiving world that the average life of a middle
class citizen is gifted. The ability to attain such a sense of impervious happiness is the real beauty of
America, and quite possibly the cure for

Essay about Teen Pregnancy
Teen pregnancy is a major problem in the United States. There are significantly more teenage
pregnancies in the United States than all other developing countries (Cleo Moore, 1995). According to
The Complete and Authoritative Guide: Caring for Your Teenager, out of every five women under
twenty, two will become pregnant. Teen pregnancy rates have increased 23% from 1972 to 1990
(Napier, 1997) In order to come to a solution it is important to examine why teenage pregnancy is so
high in the United States. When analyzing teen pregnancy, an effective way to get to the root of the
problem is using the critical component of the sociological imagination. Critically, the two most
prevalent ways to look at teen pregnancy are through a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Liberals believe socioeconomic status is a factor in teen pregnancy. They want to put a stop to blaming
the youth. Liberals understand it is time to examine why some teens want to become parents. When
teens don t see a successful future for themselves, getting pregnant isn t that bad of an option. Factors
in teen pregnancy are a perception of unattainable goals, and lack of educational and occupational
prospects, both prevailing in poor communities. Dash (1989) concluded that child rearing provides a
tangible economic and psychological asset for black teens whose future prospects are bleak. There are
more African Americans living in extreme poverty than Latinos and Whites (Ralley, pg#). In the
journal article, Internal Poverty and Teen Pregnancy, the life options model is proposed. The life
options model suggests that, If disadvantaged youths do not perceive that doors are open to them, it is
perhaps difficult for them to see teen pregnancy as closing any doors (Young, Sue Martin, 2001)
Young, Sue Martin (2001) examined adolescent females educational expectations. They found that
females of all races who became pregnant had lower expectations of educational attainment and
likelihood they would graduate high school, compared to their nonpregnant counterpart. There is a

Dialectical Tensions Is The Opposing Forces Of Which A...
Dialectical tensions are essentially the opposing forces of which a relationship works. Every
relationship you are involved in should have tension and issues, it s natural. I have many personal
relationships where dialectical tensions are present. By studying interpersonal relationships and the
different dialectical tensions, I have realized that I apply the different tensions on a daily basis without
even knowing. By growing up with divorced parents, who do not particularly get along, I have had to
compromise and really think about what I am going to say before I say it. Hearing low blows about
one parent made by the other parent really takes a toll on how you perceive the other person. I have
lived a very blessed life and have wonderful parents, but in every relationship there are issues. My
relationship with each parent allows me to use many strategies for handling dialectical tensions, but I
specifically use a wider variety in my relationship with my father.
An article by Donald K. Macrae states, Divorce disrupts one s identity, economic and emotional
dependency and disturbs primary relationships with family of origin, children, friends and colleagues
(Macrae1). I personally relate to this quote and it also directly relates to dialectical tensions. One of
the main issues in my relationship with my dad is dependency. We struggle with autonomy versus
connectedness, which is the dialectical tension resulting from the stimulus needed for independence
and togetherness

Examples Of Interview Questions About Juveniles
Interviewer: So, like I said, it s just to get your feedback on that. The first question is, do you

Interviewee: Just calling and one of the instances I remember calling on was a juvenile who had taken
her mother s vehicle without permission. We ended up finding the vehicle and the female who was
driving it, was reported to possible have the vehicle and so I called the juvenile center to see if they
would accept her. I remember distinctly, there was a conflict, initially they told me they wouldn t, and

you were to sit down with the Chief and he said, overall, what do you think of this and should be

its good because at the same time, I totally completely understand that we can t take every single
juvenile to the juvenile center because it would be overrun. Especially, some of the kids that will
shoplift or do something pretty minor and they are first time offenders and that it and they never do it

Chapter 9 Blum And Harvey Essay
Question: In Chapter 9, Blum and Harvey discuss the many competing versions of Christ that all exist
at the same time in the United States. How do these themes parallel to the representations of Jesus in
comedy?
Answer: One of the popular images of Jesus in modern times is his depiction as a Middle Eastern man,
especially noticeable after the attacks on September 11, 2001. With the increasing amounts of Middle
Eastern people on television, believers had to reconcile these images with their idea of Jesus from that
same region. As seen in Paul Mooney s stand up routine, he joked about the fear of terrorism and
suggested that Osama Bin Laden probably looked like Jesus. Another trend in depictions of Jesus was
the sexualization of his body, creating

New York Times Case Study Essay
Case 1 2 New York Times
Since 1896, four generations of the Ochs Sulzberger family have guided The New York Times through
wars, recessions, strikes, and innumerable family crises. In 2003, though, Arthur Ochs Sulzberger Jr.,
the current proprietor, faced what seemed to be a publisher s ultimate test after a loosely supervised
young reporter named Jayson Blair was found to have fabricated dozens of stories. The revelations
sparked a newsroom rebellion that humiliated Sulzberger into firing Executive Editor Howell Raines.
My heart is breaking, Sulzberger admitted to his staff on the day he showed Raines the door.
It turns out, though, that fate was not finished with Arthur Sulzberger, who also is chairman of the

These are tough times, and they ve been tough times for a while. But he and new CEO Janet L.
Robinson (Lewis retired at the end of 2004) are sticking with the long term plan set nearly a decade
ago: enhancing the content of the Times and extending its reach into virgin territories west of the
Hudson while also building its multimedia capacity. In 2002, NYT Co. added a global dimension to its
growth strategy by acquiring full control of the International Herald Tribune, which is now being
upgraded and expanded.
In essence, Sulzberger is doing what his forebears have always done: sink money into the Times in the
belief that quality journalism pays in the long run. The challenge is to remember that our history is to
invest during tough times, he says. And when those times turn and they do, inevitably we will be well
positioned for recovery.
Will it work this time? Will toughing it out Sulzberger style revitalize the Times or consign it to
creeping irrelevance? Despite all that has happened, I still think that The New York Times has a
stature and a position of journalistic authority that is greater than any news organization in the world.
Could that be destroyed? I believe that it could be, says Alex S. Jones, a former Times media critic

Healthcare Risk Management ( Hrm )
Healthcare risk management ( HRM) began in the late 1970s when hospitals are facing a malpractice
crisis (Kavaler Alexander, 2014). According to Kavaler and Alexander (2014), it is estimated more
than 140,000 Americans die from medical errors and the cost ranges between $17 billion and $29
billion each year in the United States (Kavaler Alexander, 2014). In this essay, the student will explain
a healthcare risk management program, evaluate the program for compliance with the American
Society for Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM), and Examine the administrative process of
management the risk program.
The HRM is described as a systematic attempt to recognize, evaluate, and decrease the risk for
patients, visitors, staff, and institutional assets. In another word, The HRM is a program created to
reduce the incidence of preventable events and injuries to decrease the financial loss to the
organization institution should cause an injury or accident occurs (Kavaler Alexander, 2014). The
ASHRM, which is organized by the American Hospital Association, establishes four steps method to
achieve the objective. The steps are 1. Risk identification. 2. Risk analysis. 3. Risk treatment which
includes Risk control and Risk financing. 4. Evaluation of risk treatment strategies (Effective Health
Care Risk Management Programs. n.d.). According to Kavaler and Alexander ( 2014), Risk
identification involves the gathering of data about present and prior patient care occurrences and

Migration of Turkic Tribes
Migration is the movement of people from one place to another to settle and live in the new area.
Nowadays, the number of moving people exceeds 200 million (World Migration Report 2010 The
Future of Migration: Building Capacities for Change. International Organization for Migration. 2010).
In the ancient times the number of moving people was little, but the causes were approximately the
same. Especially, migration of ancient Turks had a significant role in formulation of world
civilizations. Their migration periods cover several thousand years. The most famous migration stage
of Turks was in the II VII centuries, well known as Migration Period. Turkic tribes migrated and
spread their habitation because of three main factors. The first and the most significant cause of Turkic
migration is related to economic issues. Many Turkic tribes migrated because of crisis and famine in
their country. The famine derived from climate changes and severe climate in different periods. Living
in difficult life circumstances, Turkic tribes decided to move in order to find fruitful lands. Especially,
during the Migration Period, in 395, Huns (Turks) moved to Europe because of famine. Moreover,
some Turkic groups migrated to wide steppes in order to find and extend their pastures. While the
amount of people and cattle were increasing, it was difficult to accommodate animals with pastures.
For instance, Yuruks ( Walkers ), who initially settled in Eastern Anatolia, moved to Western Anatolia

force. Robert Peel wants to use preventive patrol within the community. For this structure, he created
the Robert Peel s Principles of Polices (Bohm Haley, 2011).
Robert Peel s theory was the measure of a true police is not the number of arrests but the absence of
criminal conduct and violation of laws. During an arrest, the use of force and physical control is to be
used as last resort. In addition, it was his desire that a police maintain the public favor and cooperation

Borderlands La Frontera Summary
In this Chapter I feel that Anzaldua is trying to get the reader to understand the differences and
atruggles amongst cultures. The clash of cultures results in mental and emotional confusion. Living
inbetween more than one culture, you often get opposing messages from these cultures. Sometimes
when living within the Chicana culture common white beleifs conflict with the beleifs of the Mexican
culture. They both hold beleifs of the indifinous peopel and their culture. It creates a problem that the
dominant cultures views and beleifs are defiant to the others. This is very wrong because it creats the
problem of one being superior to the other. This especially relates to the Mexican culture and white
culture. This creates the assimilation problem when one culture is not accepted or considered below
another. In the book Borderlands La Frontera it states that El choque de un alma atrapado entre el
mundo del espiritu y el mundo de la tecnica a veces la deja entullada. Cradled in one culture,
sandwhiched between two cultures, stradling all three cultures and their value systems, ... People are
feeling torn between the culture they have always known, and a culture they are trying to fit into. The
author explains how this is seperating people and that we are going to have to accept what is and come
together, or put dominant culture in the past as a lost cause all together. She goes on to discuss the
different baggage that comes from certain cultures. Thare are different things that

Who Is James Taggart In Atlas Shrugged
James Taggart in Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand In the novel Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand, one of the
major philosophies that is instilled is that there are productive people in the world and non productive
people. Rand makes it apparent that there are increasing numbers of ineffective individuals who take
advantage of the constructive people in society. James Taggart is the main symbol that Rand utilises to
represent the individuals in society who are unproductive, weak and who thrive off other s success.
James first words in the novel are, Don t bother me, don t bother me, don t bother me {{15}}, these
words strongly establish his personality and how he evades his responsibilities as the president of

After Dagny s resignation from Taggart Transcontinental, James randomly without any consideration
put an inexperienced individual in her place, Clifton Locey. Locey had made arrangements for Dr.
Charles Morrison to travel on a diesel engine train to an important business meeting. The president of
Taggart Transcontinental, James, did not inquire in any means about this schedule, and was abruptly
awoken in the middle of the night by Dr. Morrison himself through an angry telegram. James was
highly intimidated by Morrison s words and called Locey to tell him to fix the situation immediately
as well as to tell Locey that he was never called in the night when Dagny was in control. These words
from James support, once again, the concept that he relies on more competent individuals of society,
and how he does not take responsibility when it is necessary. The words that James said to Locey also
imply that the success of Taggart Transcontinental was completely due to Dagny, and how she ran the
company. This point is magnified in the following actions taken by James once he finds out that the
Taggart Tunnel has collapsed, as well as the explosion between the diesel engine train and the Army
Munitions killed everyone on board. James immediately contacts Dagny though her assistant Eddie,
and then he destroys Dagny s resignation letter once she arrives at Taggart Transcontinental. James
actions are seen as highly manipulative, as well as irresponsible. James ignored the extreme situations
that were occurring at the company and used it to entice Dagny to return to Taggart Transcontinental.
These previously mentioned actions taken by James were foreseen by his first words in the novel,
which implied his evasion of his obligations, and his destructive and selfish

Vita Futura We proudly welcome you to our town, Vita Futura. Vita Futura, which means Future Life

Society s Current Structure Of Masculinity
Society s current structure of masculinity is unforgiving in form. It cuts out other forms of masculinity,
it physically and mentally demanding, and its ill effects extend far beyond the men it infuses itself in.
Yet what would we do if we were given other options for masculinity, ones that allowed for unique
blends of attitudes and perceptions? Looking in to the lives of homeless men we can see the forced
strategies which create new masculine codes created for the adaption against patriarchal pressures.
They are made out of survival need to circumnavigate the painful mental and physical reality that is
only made worse by harsh masculine standards. Yet these new masculinities hold out a form of
hopefulness for society. They offer up new discussion to what it means to be a man, the potential for
change, and what we can expect from changes in male identity over time. Using what we learn from
the disadvantaged, we can hope to improve the lives of people, although the process will take time,
effort, and careful mediation. Timothy Nonn s Hitting Bottom: Homelessness, Poverty, and
Masculinity touches on the complicated issues homeless men face, especially in terms of adapting to
pressures of hegemonic masculinity. The mental and physical stress of homelessness for men stems
from a denial of identity due to the rigid construction of maleness. Homeless men lose their
connection to the same power other men come to expect, they lose their place in society, and because

How Well Do You Think The Governance System Of Jpmorgan...
Strategic Management Case Study Assignment Question 1. How well do you think the governance
system of JPMorgan Chase is working in protecting shareholder interests? Corporate governance is a
set of actions used to handle the relationship between stakeholders by determining and controlling the
strategic direction and performance of the organization. Corporate governance major concern is
making sure that the strategic decisions are effective and that it paves the way towards strategic
competitiveness. (Hitt, Ireland, Hoskisson, 2017, p. 310). In today s corporation, the primary objective

corporate governance is involved when there is a conflict of interest between with the owners,
managers, and members of the board of directors (Hitt, Ireland, Hoskisson, 2017, p. 310 311). There
are three internal and one external governance mechanisms used for owners to govern managers to
ensure they comply with their responsibility to satisfy stakeholders and shareholder s needs. First,
ownership concentration is stated as the number of large block shareholders and the total percentage

A mother to child relationship is unbondable, similar to that of the bonds between a proton and

of alcohol abuse, which integrated itself to the reason behind giving away her son. To begin with, on
February eighteenth nineteen seventy one Cheryl gave birth to a son (Henry Lee Raintree) whose
father is her pimp (Mosinoier 227). The inferred reason the baby was born is due to Cheryl being an
alcoholic for coping with the separation of her sister living a new life in Toronto. Alcohol made Cheryl

Summary Of Coyote And The Enemy Aliens
Japanese Canadians Aliens?
Coyote and the Enemy Aliens is a satirical commentary that effectively expounds on the intense
objectification and dehumanization of Japanese Canadians during the colonial Canadian era. By
depicting the grotesque living conditions, the Japanese were subjected to, King is able to critique the
racist perspectives of the Canadian society. King condemns the actions of colonial white men,
depicting them as creatures engulfed in moral blindness that strive to fabricate an ideal white world.
Moreover, King vividly portrays the idea of social dynamics, expounding on the helplessness of
Citizens against dominant political powers. King also introduces an idea of conformity, showcasing
how citizens gradually adapt to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The climax of the prose illustrates the disturbing elements of socio political history in Canada. The
political entities stand in the near vicinity of the vehicle, singing O Canada. and waving flags .
Through the depiction of this disturbing image, King criticizes racist political leaders in Canada that
justified their crimes cemented on ideals of nationalism reflecting on the moral conscience of colonial
Canada. The insensitivity of white men is expounded in their embarkment of engineering the atomic
bomb. In the near conclusion of the story, Coyote travels to Los Alamos to make the world safe for
freedom . The white men euphemistically portray the Manhattan project (in Los Alamos) as a catalyst
of peace and prosperity. However, this notion is ironic as this project engineered a mass destruction
weapon leading innocent people being evaporated in a second. King inputs this powerful idea to
expose the Hippocratic nature of white men in that era, who patronized themselves as saints, but in
reality, were responsible for the construction of the most dangerous military weapon.
The intensely grotesque perspectives and actions committed by coyote are a striking testament to how
the general population was able to be manipulated based on ludicrous perceptions of Japanese
propagated in Canada. King employs the dim witted character of Coyote to satirize racist Canadian
politicians and comment on their prejudiced notions

To what extent was the Second Reich an entrenched...
To what extent was the Second Reich an entrenched autocracy between 1900 1914?
In the years 1900 1914 there was arguably a significant move towards democracy within Germany.
There were general desire for political and social reform and many wished for constitutional change.
However, come 1914 Germany still remained nearly as autocratic as it had been back in 1900. Over
this period it can clearly be shown through 3 key areas: the Constitution, German policy and events,
that, regardless of attempted moves towards democracy, Germany truly was an entrenched autocracy
in this period.
The German Imperial Constitution of 1871 was widely regarded by contemporaries to be one of the
most democratic in the world. People commented at the time ... Show more content on

This meant the rapid expansion of the Imperial German Navy through successive Naval Laws. The
Agadir Crisis July 1, 1911 is a clear example of this change in policy. During the crisis, the German
government deployed the large Panther gunboat to intervene in the conflict rather than resorting to
diplomacy from the outset. Flottenpolitik was an integral part of this in that it aimed to create a navy
to rival that of Britain which would whip up patriotic feeling. This all followed the idea of Social
Imperialism which was an attempt to buttress the position of the elites at the top of Germany s class
system by diverting the masses away from social and political reform and towards a populist
acceptance of the Kaiser and the Kaiserreich (Geoff Layton). Once again this support for the Kaiser
was voluntary but was subtly influenced by the Germans peoples want for international recognition. It
was internationally undemocratic but the aggressive foreign policy got people to back the Kaiser as he

Ron Mueck. Wildman . A pale, tall figure looms over all who are in its presence, overwhelming and
shockingly real. The Giant, Wildman , a huge modal of a man, is nude, this nakedness, displayed for
all to see. This ultimate exposure is a symbol to modern culture as one of ultimate indecency and of
vulnerability. He sits on a simple, sturdy wooden stool. His pose is rigid, his knuckles are tightened
and white as he grips his seat, his eyes are wide with fear, accusing the society that has placed him on
this pedestal. Upon his head, a thick mane of curly hair sits, entwining with his bush like un kept

right arm, the elbow of this arm, supported by the left knee. His round stomach is gently indented by

Sixth Mass Extinction Paper
The sixth mass extinction is on the way and could be as massive as the extinction that wiped out the
dinosaurs (Kolbert, 2014). Before learning more about the sixth mass extinction, you ll have to first
understand what biodiversity is and what will happen when you tamper with it. According to Anup
Shah, author of Why is Biodiversity Important? Who Cares, biodiversity means the variety of life on
Earth or in an ecosystem. Every species plays an important role in the ecosystem or in the world, no
matter how big or small. A way to incorporate this into easier terms is the food chain or food web.
Without a certain species in the cycle, you ll be losing another species and so forth (Shah, 2014). Loss
of biodiversity was declared at the first Earth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Altering the biodiversity could cause the loss of an environment such as the Malayan field rat incident
in the Chiew Larn islands. Laurance, William wrote the article, Islands of Extinction, which speaks of
the Chiew Larn and how the reservoir was flooded. Larger animals perished due to the fact of how
small Chiew Larn islands were during the flood. Chiew Larn island measures from 1 hectare, 2.5
acres, to 60 hectares, 148 acres. Some large animals such as tigers, deer, and elephants might have
disappeared into the forest surrounds the reservoir. Because of this flood, it was easier for the Malayan
field rat to come and invade the Chiew Larn islands. One of William colleague, Tony Lynam, traveled
and did an experiment on the Chiew Larn islands after the flood. Tony s experiment was to use baited
live traps to capture small mammals left on the island and ear tags them. The result that Lynam had
discovered was astounding because the native mammal species had vanished within 10 hectares of the
area (Laurance, 2014). The tragic change of the environment had lost the once healthy and plentiful
biodiversity in the area. This is the start of an invader known as the Malayan field rat. A Malayan field
rat, an adaptable species, can be compared to the well and common known black rat. The Malayan
field rat lives near human settlements and agriculture. Luke Gibson, a Ph.D. student at the

Thomas Cochrane s Life And Life
Thomas Cochrane was born on December 14, 1775 in Annsfield, Scotland. He was the eldest son of
Archibald and Anna Gilchrist Cochrane, and had three brothers: Archibald, Basil and William.
Thomas received little to no formal schooling, which taught him to be self reliant and practical.
Thomas shared his eccentricity and intellectual curiosity with his father, a scientist and inventor. In
November of 1784, Anna Cochrane passed away. Soon after, Thomas was sent to Mr. Chauvet s
military academy in Kensington, London. His father had secured this role for Thomas through
aristocratic connections, however, it was not Thomas dream. In 1792, Thomas finished military
schooling, but decided to join the navy instead. Thankfully for Thomas, his uncle, ... Show more

When Thomas came aboard, the Hind had been ordered to prepare to go south. In fall of 1793, his
uncle learned he had been appointed to command the Thetis. The crew was transferred and Thomas
was given the opportunity to prepare the ship for sea. Had inherited from his father an intense passion
for understanding how things worked and how they could be improved. Over the next two years,
Thomas learned all aspects of a ship, including how to do each specialist trade and how to handle a
boat in all weather conditions. This practical working knowledge of a ship and seamanship would
prove to benefit him greatly when he commanded his own vessel. On April 13, 1795, Cochrane joined
the Africa, a 64 gun ship. He spent 5 weeks as acting lieutenant. He eventually reboarded the Thetis as
acting second lieutenant and waited for an official promotion. These skills allowed Thomas to take the

1798, he reboarded his uncles frigate and sailed for EnglanD where he was appointed eighth lieutenant

The Lowell Work Force, And The Social Origins Of Women...
The first article was chapter three, The Lowell Work Force, 1836, and the Social Origins of Women
Workers from the book, Women at Work: The Transformation of Work and Community in Lowell,
Massachusetts, 1826 1860, written by Thomas Dublin. It paralleled nicely with the article I chose
which was, I Think Less of the Factory than of my Native Dell Labor, Nature, and the Lowell Mill
Girls from Environmental History, by Chad Montrie. The article, The Lowell Work Force primarily
discussed what type of people, predominately women, worked in the Lowell mill. The information
was neither new nor surprising for me. I had been to the Lowell Mill museum before and most the
information there was in the article. The women were young women, from farming families, not yet
married and mostly native born women, not immigrants. What did surprise me was why they chose to
work. I would have guessed that they worked to earn wages to send home to help support their
families, yet, that was rarely the case. Moving away did lighten the family burden; however, that is not
why these women left. They moved to work in a factory so they could earn wages and use them for
nonessential things, things that they wanted, not needed. For many, the appeal of this might have been
from the fact that growing up on a farm with limited money, clothes were always homespun and they
had few, if any, frivolous things. For example, Sally Rice left home to earn something of my own,

Richard Wilbur s Death Of A Toad
All creatures on Earth that have a purpose of life should be viewed as equals to everyone. In Richard
Wilbur s Death of a Toad he reflects on the thoughts that all people even a toad might have thought
when nearing the time of death. Through careful structure, diction, and graphic imagery, it shows his
regards towards the death of the toad as well as his transformation from uncaring to compassionate.
The division of the stanzas leads the emotional rollercoaster that the speaker undergoes. The poem
opens with the speaker s graphic observation, A toad the power mower caught. He seemed
unsympathetic towards the toad and it is evident in the description given in the next few lines about
the toad s injury. When the toad hid in the cineraria leaves, the speaker shows some interest. He at
least concludes that the toad will die in this final glade . In the second stanza, the physical appearance
of the toad is depicted by gruesome images. His leg was chewed and chopped while he watched

Microcultural Cultural Dimensions
Option #1 Microcultures/Cultural Dimensions Are you a member of a microcultural group in
America? Chances are the answer is Yes . In fact, regardless of your cultural affiliation, the majority of
individuals in America are associated with a microcultural group (Neuliep, 2015). These various
microcultures exist within the macroculture of the nation, yet possess distinct attributes such as: codes
of conduct, customs, etiquette, hierarchies, language, and rituals (Long, 2017). Moreover, a
microculture can be comprised of group of individuals bound together through a characteristic as
varied as their age, racial factors, occupation, sexual inclination or even geographic location (Neuliep,
2015). Each of these microcultures possess cultural dimensions as outlined by Hofstede and these
dimensions offer us a unique glimpse as to how these groups differ from other cultures.
Hofstede s Dimensions and the Deaf The deaf sub culture consists of approximately 500,000
individuals in the United States who consider themselves part of this ethno linguistic microculture
which takes pride in lacking the power of hearing or in having hearing which is impaired (Hamill
Stein, 2011). Two of psychologist Geert Hofstede s six dimensions will be explored. By examining
this sub culture, a determination will be made as to what distinguishes this culture from others as well
as to identify tendencies within this microculture. The two dimensions to be examined are Power

How Does Mary Wroth Explore The Negative Aspects Of Love
Within their respective works, both Ben Jonson and Mary Wroth explore the negative aspects of love
in vastly different ways. Jonson trivializes love, and makes a woman appear shallow in, My Picture
Left in Scotland . Jonson appears to be exploring a kind of superficial love, as well as his expectations
for how great poets, such as himself, should be treated by woman. Alternately, Wroth expresses the
terrible amount of pain that can come from love in, Sonnet 68 . She clearly has experienced a great
and devastating loss, and is reeling in the aftermath of losing some sort of genuine love. Both have
quite different complaints about love, but share a similar tone, sense of hopelessness, and vivid
imagery. The first similarity between these two works is simply the fact that in neither work does the

In Wroth s work, one merely learns that they broke her heart, and the way that the speaker now feels
as a result. Similarly, in Jonson s work, the reader is only informed that this woman rejected the
speaker of the poem. It would appear that both of the love interests within the works are not the focus
of the pieces, but merely agents, which the poets can use to delve into the treacherous features of love.
Both poets want the reader to focus not on who broke their heart, but on ulterior messages within the
works. There is a tone of both desperation and hopelessness in both of the works. Jonson is coming to
the realization that since he is unattractive it will be hard for him to obtain a relationship. In the
opening stanza, he speaks of how love is not blind, but it is deaf. He is talking about the fact that
women do notice that he is unattractive, and they reject him based on this. He believes that love
cannot be blind, due to the fact that besides his looks, he has other positive attributes that are being
ignored, due to his looks. Jonson

The western Jin was the name of the brief uniting dynasty the eastern Jin lasted longer in the south but
China was no longer unified. This Northern and Southern Dynasties refers strictly to time after the fall

north which ultimately reunified China. The physical boundaries of China changed rapidly during the

value is important. 2. The recognition and matching principles in financial accounting call for
revenues, and the costs associated with producing those revenues, to be booked when the revenue

this way is not necessarily correct; it s the way accountants have chosen to do it. 3. The bottom line

To Room Nineteen Crytical Analysis
_ To Room Nineteen _
I plan to argue To Room Nineteen by Doris Lessing for an audience of professors interested in the
field of psychology and it s affect on women s lives, stating that the cause of suicide for Ms. Dubois is
not because of the social judgments and perception negatively that impacted Susan s domestic
responsibilities but rather the lack of emotion within her life and her relationship with her husband,
because she could live up to the ideals valued by culture and beliefs but deep down she married for the
benefit of others and no love in their relationship or with her children.
Traditionally in the mid twentieth century, women held various duties that were crucial to keep their
households intact. Most have sacrificed much ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also Sophie, the Rawlings household worker, replaced Susan s position in the family. Ever since
Sophie was welcomed into the family, she has been more of a mother, wife, and mistress of the house
than Susan, which caused her to feel out of place. She took lunch with Mrs. Parkes, Sophie, Sophie s
Italian friend Maria, and her daughter Molly, and felt like a visitor. (2777) It gives her the impression
that she was invisible and separated from her family. In addition, her four children require her
complete attention to tend for them so that they would grow to be strong and healthy adults. She was
breaking her part of the bargain and there was no way of forcing her to keep it: that her spirit, her soul,
should live in this house, so that people in it could grow like plants in water, and Mrs. Parkes remain
content in their service. (2772) As long as she s their mother, she will continuously put all her energy
to raise her children. She could not deliver all these requests to nurture her children, so she decides to
abandon her duties. Seclusion is a major aspect that influences a person to become odd and bizarre.
Women s freedom and liberation are restrained because of the principles followed by customary
lifestyles. Doris Lessing draws extensively on women s inner, private experiences and on their
departure from the unsatisfactory reality of life in an alienated and alienating society. (Rula Quawas)

In addition to, other scholars have elaborated on the higher rates of divorce in America than other
countries. The high rate of marital instability has been increasing for decades. Marriage is being
sought for personal stability and clarification as a substitution of marital values, there fore, leading to
short term marriages. In the scholarly article written by Frank Furstenberg Jr., Di vorce and the
American Family, the topic about divorce rates being higher due to changes of age composition is
proposed. Furstenberg says that the many experts believe that the velocity of changes are due to
voluntary dissolution. He also expands on how divorce alters the course of childhood.
Frank Furstenberg Jr. used statistics from the Us Bureau of the Census 1989 to talk about how there
more children are born to single mothers in black households. African American moth ers mostly will
remain unmarried for years and only one in five born in the 1980s will spend the majority of their
childhood living with both parents. Most children acquire a step parent because most unmarried or
previously divorced parents enter or re enter marriage (Furstenberg, 383). He did limit his information
and understanding of why black families have high rates of family vari ability.
Furthermore, divorce has a long term effect on adolescents with their fathers. It has been shown

Disease will always be prevalent across the world, there is no place where disease is non existent and
every single region across the world has its own varieties of diseases. Most of them are different, but

Rudolf Kraus was an experienced bacteriologist that came from Europe and moved later to Argentina.

Out of the Silent Planet by C.S. Lewis
In the year 1625, Francis Bacon, a famous essayist and poet wrote about the influences of fear on
everyday life. He stated, Men fear death as children fear to go in the dark; and as that natural fear in
children is increased with tales, so is the other (Essays Dedication of Death). Clearly, external
surroundings affect perceptions of fear as well as human nature in general. Although C.S. Lewis
published the novel, Out of the Silent Planet, over three centuries after Bacon wrote his theory on fear,
Lewis similarly portrayed external surrounding to manipulate perceptions of fear. From the first
chapter of the novel, Lewis revealed fear to be a weakness that leads to ignorance. It was this ... Show

thought of his wife, Frankl kept in mind things that were just as important to him as his job that could
help him survive. This shows us what is truly important to Frankl. In times of crisis, humans often turn

Mof Synthesis Lab
Link to Previous Experiments
Last semester I synthesized a powder, that based on IR, I believe to be the HKUST 1 MOF. I removed
much of the DMSO and have identified key peaks. Despite having cleaned the MOF several times
with ethanol and by heating out the DMSO solvent, the spectra showed there are many impurities in it.
In order to try to further validate the MOF synthetic method, I attempted a kinetics experiment that
would have tracked the disappearance of the BTC precursor.
Last Synthesis
In the last run where I successfully produced a powder, 0.58 g (2.8 mmol) BTC and 1.2 g (5.1 mmol)
Cu(NO3) · 3 H2O were mixed together at room temperature in 4.5 mL of DMSO. The solids are not
easily dissolved so it takes mild heating and about 30 minutes of stirring. I raised the temperature up
to 100°C and allowed to remain as constant as possible while the solvent evaporated. The entire time
it was impossible to see any precipitate because the solution was green. The only way I was able to
tell the MOF precipitated out was when the stir bar slowed down and the solution got darker. The solid
formed was clumpy. I broke it up with a spatula and filtered it with ethanol several times. ... Show

I knew that I would get scattering on the RedTide and the MOF is not formed if the solution is not
heterogeneous so I allowed them to mix under mild heat. This took 65 minutes. Once the solution was
fully mixed, I turned up the heat and maintained at 100 °C. I took aliquots at 0, 5, 10, 30, and 45
minutes. At that point I had used up all the solvent. I observed no precipitate in the flask. This is most
likely since I was forcefully removing the solvent and not letting it evaporate. As I took each aliquot
out and placed it in a test tube, I covered it. However, as it cooled, a white precipitate (most likely the
BTC) started to form at the

your dream career? We ll explain who headhunters and how they work. We ll give you tips on how to

headhunters? In order to maximise your use of headhunters, it s helpful to understand who they are

Retainer headhunters: o Search and often screen the candidates, with the organisations having
exclusive contacts with specific headhunting agencies. o Commission can be similar in terms of the
final payable to contingency headhunters, but the payment is not typically dependent on the position
being filled. Hybrid agency: o There are a number of headhunting agencies that use a hybrid model,
under which part of the fee is paid upfront, with the rest being contingent on filling of the position. As
a candidate, you should know that headhunters are always paid by their client, which is the
organisation looking to hire. This means the loyalty of the agency is on the client and not necessarily
you as the candidate. This can mean headhunters aren t interested in providing any type of career
counselling and other advice for you. In addition, this can mean the recruiter goes for standard
candidates, who match the job description, as these are what the clients tend to prefer. Overall,
headhunters are not looking for the most talented or likeable candidate. How do headhunters operate?
So, what is the typical process headhunters use to find the right match? The name, headhunter, is
rather suitable for explaining the proceeds, as headhunters tend to hunt for the right candidates, instead
of necessarily waiting for the candidate to come to them. The basic process tends to follow these
steps: ➢ The headhunter receives a job description from

The Battle Of Fredericksburg During The Civil War
The Battle of Fredericksburg was fought towards the beginning of the American Civil War that
spanned over the course of four years, April 1861 April 1865 and consisted of 50 major battles and
thousands of minor battles. The Battle of Fredericksburg lasted exactly five days, December 11 15,
1862. Its location was centered on Fredericksburg, VA and surrounding areas along the Rappahannock
River including Falmouth, Marye s Heights, Stafford Heights, Prospect Hill, and Hamilton s Crossing
(Yandoh, 2001). The Federal Union and Confederates had the same goal. To preserve their way of life,
but that s where the similarities stopped. Both sides wanted a different way of life preserved. The
Confederates goal was to gain independence from the politically oppressive North and to establish an
independent nation that allowed slavery (Olson Raymer, 2014). The Federal Union s initial goal was
to restore the Union. But, its goal changed when it became obvious they would lose the war. The
Union decided to reunite states under a banner in which slavery was no longer acceptable or tolerated.
The war from beginning to end would be a noble crusade for democracy for all people, not just in
America, but throughout the world (Olson Raymer, 2014). The Fredericksburg Campaign and the
Battle of Fredericksburg are the same objective in this case: to capture the town of Fredericksburg.
Leading up to the battle, President Abraham Lincoln was confident he was losing support due to the

My Strengths And Weaknesses Of Leadership
There are many forms and styles of leadership. There are leaders in schools, churches, homes, and
leaders in communities. There are even sometimes leaders within a friend group. Leaders are unique
because of the qualities they possess. The course Black Women Developing Public Leadership Skill is
a great course to help prepare any young black woman for a bright future as a leader. As a result of the
course I have been able to view leadership in different ways than I have before. I have learned that
every leader has their own strengths and weaknesses. Often times leaders receive praise and are
looked up to for everything that they are good at doing. People usually forget or ignore weaknesses in
a leader until the leader lets its audience down.
I have learned my strengths and my weaknesses as a leader. I have learned that some of my strengths
during public speaking are being confident, relaxed, and being able to articulate my points very well. I
learned that my weakness was not including as much detail as I could have. During the rest of this
course and in the future I plan to make a conscious effort to make sure that I not only provide details,
but that I make sure that I provide enough details for other people to understand all that I am saying or
doing when I am being a leader. Now that I am fully aware of my strengths and weaknesses I can
practice them and grow throughout the duration of the course
The dictionary defines leadership as a critical management skill; it is the

Dividend Policy at Fpl Group Essay
Dividend Policy at FPL Group
FPL Group Overview:
The FPL Group was Florida s largest electric utility group and the fourth largest in America. The FPL
Group had annual revenues of exceeding $5 billion. Florida Power amp; Light Company, the main
subsidiary of the FPL Group had 3.9 million customer accounts and covered a service area that
included six of America s ten fastest growing metropolitan areas.
a. Summarize the key elements of FPL s financial policy and compare it with other relevant firms.
We are commenting on FPL s financial policy from a dividend and capital structure perspective.
FPL has a very high dividend payout ratio of around 90% and has a 47 year streak of dividend
increases. FPL s dividend payout ratio is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This would mean intense competition and may open up FPL to pricing pressure and in an adverse
situation, losses. Such a situation has already been witnessed in California s utility companies post
introduction of retail wheeling in their state.
In light of the situation mentioned above, FPL has to ensure that it has the resources available to meet
future competition where one of the determinants of winning or retaining new business may be price.
Hence, its dividend payout policy must be modified to account for these industry changes.
c. How should FPL choose between dividends and share repurchases as alternative modes of
payment?
The Modigliani Miller clearly postulates that the dividend policy is irrelevant. The value of the assets
of FPL should be independent of the financial structure of the firm. Also, the choice of dividend
payments or share repurchases should not influence the share price as both methods are ways to
distribute cash to the shareholders. However, this is true only in the Modigliani Miller world where
there are no costs related to taxes or financial distress.
In practice, dividend policy will be affected by taxes as tax rates for different categories of investors
will differ. Also, a firm s dividend policy is perceived by the financial markets to be a signaling
mechanism. A cut back in dividends may signify that the firm perceives tough

What makes Whitney Houston an interesting person? Houston was an interesting person because she
was a singer, talented, and beautiful individual. She had addictive background, that caused many

Her mother cissy was in the choir minister at the New Hope Baptist Church, and that is where young

Du Pont Kevlar Aramid Industrial Fiber (Abridged) Essay
The case Du Pont Kevlar Aramid Industrial Fiber (Abridged) states the development history of Du
Pont s products, and focuses on investing and marketing of Kevlar.
Kevlar is a fiber which Howard W. Swank, general manager of Du Pont s Textile Fibers Department,
and other Textile Fibers Department s managers were keen on. Kevlar is based on the former products
of Du Pont, such as nylon, and Nomex Aramid fiber. Kevlar s development was closely related to that
of Nomex. It is a much stronger and stiff fiber than nylon and steel, and can be stable at high
temperatures. After the Fiber B first came out in 1960s, Du Pont found some problems with it. Two
years later, Fiber B 1, which is also called Kevlar Aramid fiber, came out with better ... Show more

In 1969, the Textile Fiber Department sent Fiber B s samples to tire companies and aerospace
companies, and it got good responses. When Fiber B 1 was developed, the Textile Fiber Department
thought they understood how customers in the tire and aerospace industries would evaluated the new,
better material, so the department did not do any preliminary assessments. Even though Fiber B 1 is
superior to Fiber B, it still needs to be tested before putting it into the market in order to make sure it
works well. The customers feedback is very important to a new product. Du Pont did not continue to
do the sample tests and sample research which may cause some problems.
When Du Pont invented Kevlar, it did not have a specific target market, and it just followed its history
market without creativity. Du Pont always wanted to produce a stronger fiber than before, and its
market has always been tire and aerospace industries. After the promotion, Du Pont focused on the tire
cord market. I think Du Pont chose the right market. The tire market is an existing market with large
potential. From 1970 to 1973, the tire cord consumption was increasing from $539 million of pounds
to $683 million of pounds. As radial tires entered the tire market, the older materials could not satisfy
the properties of them, and only Kevlar and steel can be used in radial tires. It seems that Kevlar just
needed to compete with steel. This is a

Pharmacology And Migraine Research
Migraine and Evidence based pharmacology
Introduction
In the current medical practices, there are several treatment options. The pharmaceutical industry
produces so many drugs that perform similar functions (Chaitow Schoenen, 2013). However, the
pharmacokinetics of the drugs are quite different. Moreover, all the drugs in the market have different
side effects and toxicity profiles. The same drug tends to behave differently in different people.
Therefore, doctors are faced with hardships when choosing the best treatment option to adopt in
particular patients. It is for this reason that evidence based practice(EBP) was introduced.
Evidence based practice in the field of medicine is used to refer to the application of results obtained

Migraine headaches are often experienced on one side of the head (Tepper, 2004). The pain is
associated with the pulsatile sensation that differs from one person to another. Migraine is also
characterized by throbbing and pounding headache that can lead to nausea, vomiting, and in some
instances photophobia. Presently, about 12 % of Americans experience migraine headaches every day.
Research shows that migraine mostly affect people aged 15 to 55 years (Tepper, 2004). Migraine has
been said to occur as a result of impaired nervous and circulatory system. In migraine, blood vessels
undergo vasodilation. The enlargement of the vessels interferes with the nerve cells that normally
surround the vessels making them secrete various chemical mediators. These chemicals include
prostaglandins, substance P, interleukins, and cytokines (Schulman, 2010). The chemicals are
responsible for inflammation and transmission of pain impulses. The associated feelings of nausea and
vomiting are attributed to the activation of the sympathetic nervous system. The sympathetic response
also leads to slowed motility and gastric emptying that in turn reduces absorptions of gastric contents
such as nutrients and drugs. Additionally, the sympathetic system also leads to excessive sound and
light sensitivity. Statistics reveals that migraines affect more women than men. The severity of
migraine headaches ranges from mild, moderate to severe depending on the individuals affected. In
some instances, migraine headache can be a major cause of morbidity due to its debilitating

We barge in. Their troop might be almost as large, but not the same, their technology is far behind. If
we have every one of our soldiers armed, and we barge in, we can beat them. We can win. I said out
loud, as I got on my feet. But isn t that a risque? We could be walking into a trap, or they could have
developed better technologies. We could be risking the lives of every one of our soldiers. She replied.
I walked a step closer to her, she slowly took a step back I m here because I take these risks, yes we
could all die, but we could also win this. The more time we give them, the better the opportunity they
have of developing technologies better than ours. Then, I walked out of the cramped, creamed

The Iatmul live along the middle Sepik River, which is located in Papua New Guinea. Their
communities are based on kinship. The social center of the Iatmul village is a very large saddle shaped
men s ceremonial house. The men s house is the center of Iatmul life. The shape of the roof is like a
saddle and this symbolizes the protective mantle of ancestors. The house is used for many things that
reinforce kinship links such as a locale for the initiation of local youths, a discussion area for
community issues, and ceremonies that are linked to the ancestors. Only men can advance in the
Iatmul society. This meant that women and uninitiated boys could not enter the men s house. The men
could control all of the power and access all the knowledge they wanted. Men s houses are a popular
structure in New Guinea, but the ones of the Iatmul are the most important. The house represents a

  • 2. Outsourcing Of The American Dream As more and more students graduate, they begin to look for work; hoping for a job capable of paying off their debts and making their chosen degree worthwhile. In America, we are running into the problem of a lack of jobs, requiring a degree or not. From service jobs to white collar jobs, ...more than 14 million jobs are vulnerable to being outsources offshore. (Roberts).College graduates that are native to America are struggling to find work due to the outsourcing of jobs, in turn damaging our economy. It is common sense that the more jobs we give away, the less jobs there will be for newly college graduates to work. Although they were once known as the jobs of the American Dream , they are now simply not American. Outsourcing used to not worry me, because I thought the jobs that were outsourced were the minimum wage, labor required jobs but I was wrong. These are not only call center operators, customer service and back office jobs, but also information technology, accounting, architecture.....etc. (Roberts). It used to be that if you spent the time and money to earn a degree, you would almost be guaranteed a job. Now days, even the jobs that require 4+ years of school are being sent overseas, leaving no hope for the new generations entering our work force. Not only is this outsourcing causing companies to lose their best employees, but also the consumers that buy their products. Employees displaced by foreigners and left unemployed or in lower paid work have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Lester Burnham Essay The Psychological Evolution of Lester Burnham With roughly ten percent of American adults suffering from depression, it is no surprise that the disorder is commonly embodied in both literature and film ( Facts Amp; Statistics. ). One such example of depression personified in a fictitious character can be found in the 1999 drama American Beauty. Directed by Sam Mendes, husband and father Lester Burnham experiences symptoms of depression, resulting in an extreme midlife crisis, ultimately leading to his own demise. Although many assume depression stems solely from traumatic events or genetic predispositions, Lester s symptoms arise from much more surreptitious and precarious circumstances: the repetitiveness of Middle America. The final phase in Lester s life is based on pure happiness, and not even being murdered can take the beauty of Lester s life away from him. Not everyone can live the life of a celebrity or a president, but every American s personhood can evolve in the way Lester s did, to find beauty in the unforgiving world that the average life of a middle class citizen is gifted. The ability to attain such a sense of impervious happiness is the real beauty of America, and quite possibly the cure for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Essay about Teen Pregnancy Teen pregnancy is a major problem in the United States. There are significantly more teenage pregnancies in the United States than all other developing countries (Cleo Moore, 1995). According to The Complete and Authoritative Guide: Caring for Your Teenager, out of every five women under twenty, two will become pregnant. Teen pregnancy rates have increased 23% from 1972 to 1990 (Napier, 1997) In order to come to a solution it is important to examine why teenage pregnancy is so high in the United States. When analyzing teen pregnancy, an effective way to get to the root of the problem is using the critical component of the sociological imagination. Critically, the two most prevalent ways to look at teen pregnancy are through a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Liberals believe socioeconomic status is a factor in teen pregnancy. They want to put a stop to blaming the youth. Liberals understand it is time to examine why some teens want to become parents. When teens don t see a successful future for themselves, getting pregnant isn t that bad of an option. Factors in teen pregnancy are a perception of unattainable goals, and lack of educational and occupational prospects, both prevailing in poor communities. Dash (1989) concluded that child rearing provides a tangible economic and psychological asset for black teens whose future prospects are bleak. There are more African Americans living in extreme poverty than Latinos and Whites (Ralley, pg#). In the journal article, Internal Poverty and Teen Pregnancy, the life options model is proposed. The life options model suggests that, If disadvantaged youths do not perceive that doors are open to them, it is perhaps difficult for them to see teen pregnancy as closing any doors (Young, Sue Martin, 2001) Young, Sue Martin (2001) examined adolescent females educational expectations. They found that females of all races who became pregnant had lower expectations of educational attainment and likelihood they would graduate high school, compared to their nonpregnant counterpart. • 5. Dialectical Tensions Is The Opposing Forces Of Which A... Dialectical tensions are essentially the opposing forces of which a relationship works. Every relationship you are involved in should have tension and issues, it s natural. I have many personal relationships where dialectical tensions are present. By studying interpersonal relationships and the different dialectical tensions, I have realized that I apply the different tensions on a daily basis without even knowing. By growing up with divorced parents, who do not particularly get along, I have had to compromise and really think about what I am going to say before I say it. Hearing low blows about one parent made by the other parent really takes a toll on how you perceive the other person. I have lived a very blessed life and have wonderful parents, but in every relationship there are issues. My relationship with each parent allows me to use many strategies for handling dialectical tensions, but I specifically use a wider variety in my relationship with my father. An article by Donald K. Macrae states, Divorce disrupts one s identity, economic and emotional dependency and disturbs primary relationships with family of origin, children, friends and colleagues (Macrae1). I personally relate to this quote and it also directly relates to dialectical tensions. One of the main issues in my relationship with my dad is dependency. We struggle with autonomy versus connectedness, which is the dialectical tension resulting from the stimulus needed for independence and togetherness ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How do these themes parallel to the representations of Jesus in comedy? Answer: One of the popular images of Jesus in modern times is his depiction as a Middle Eastern man, especially noticeable after the attacks on September 11, 2001. With the increasing amounts of Middle Eastern people on television, believers had to reconcile these images with their idea of Jesus from that same region. In 2002, NYT Co. added a global dimension to its growth strategy by acquiring full control of the International Herald Tribune, which is now being upgraded and expanded. • 11. Migration of Turkic Tribes Migration is the movement of people from one place to another to settle and live in the new area. Nowadays, the number of moving people exceeds 200 million (World Migration Report 2010 The Future of Migration: Building Capacities for Change. International Organization for Migration. 2010). In the ancient times the number of moving people was little, but the causes were approximately the same. Especially, migration of ancient Turks had a significant role in formulation of world civilizations. Their migration periods cover several thousand years. The most famous migration stage of Turks was in the II VII centuries, well known as Migration Period. Turkic tribes migrated and spread their habitation because of three main factors. The first and the most significant cause of Turkic migration is related to economic issues. Many Turkic tribes migrated because of crisis and famine in their country. The famine derived from climate changes and severe climate in different periods. Living in difficult life circumstances, Turkic tribes decided to move in order to find fruitful lands. Especially, during the Migration Period, in 395, Huns (Turks) moved to Europe because of famine. Moreover, some Turkic groups migrated to wide steppes in order to find and extend their pastures. The clash of cultures results in mental and emotional confusion. Living inbetween more than one culture, you often get opposing messages from these cultures. Sometimes when living within the Chicana culture common white beleifs conflict with the beleifs of the Mexican culture. They both hold beleifs of the indifinous peopel and their culture. It creates a problem that the dominant cultures views and beleifs are defiant to the others. This is very wrong because it creats the problem of one being superior to the other. This especially relates to the Mexican culture and white culture. This creates the assimilation problem when one culture is not accepted or considered below another. In the book Borderlands La Frontera it states that El choque de un alma atrapado entre el mundo del espiritu y el mundo de la tecnica a veces la deja entullada. Who Is James Taggart In Atlas Shrugged James Taggart in Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand In the novel Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand, one of the major philosophies that is instilled is that there are productive people in the world and non productive people. Rand makes it apparent that there are increasing numbers of ineffective individuals who take advantage of the constructive people in society. James Taggart is the main symbol that Rand utilises to represent the individuals in society who are unproductive, weak and who thrive off other s success. After Dagny s resignation from Taggart Transcontinental, James randomly without any consideration put an inexperienced individual in her place, Clifton Locey. Locey had made arrangements for Dr. Charles Morrison to travel on a diesel engine train to an important business meeting. The president of Taggart Transcontinental, James, did not inquire in any means about this schedule, and was abruptly awoken in the middle of the night by Dr. Morrison himself through an angry telegram. James was highly intimidated by Morrison s words and called Locey to tell him to fix the situation immediately as well as to tell Locey that he was never called in the night when Dagny was in control. These words from James support, once again, the concept that he relies on more competent individuals of society, and how he does not take responsibility when it is necessary. The words that James said to Locey also imply that the success of Taggart Transcontinental was completely due to Dagny, and how she ran the company. This point is magnified in the following actions taken by James once he finds out that the Taggart Tunnel has collapsed, as well as the explosion between the diesel engine train and the Army Munitions killed everyone on board. James immediately contacts Dagny though her assistant Eddie, and then he destroys Dagny s resignation letter once she arrives at Taggart Transcontinental. James actions are seen as highly manipulative, as well as irresponsible. James ignored the extreme situations that were occurring at the company and used it to entice Dagny to return to Taggart Transcontinental. These previously mentioned actions taken by James were foreseen by his first words in the novel, which implied his evasion of his obligations, and his destructive and selfish ... It cuts out other forms of masculinity, it physically and mentally demanding, and its ill effects extend far beyond the men it infuses itself in. Yet what would we do if we were given other options for masculinity, ones that allowed for unique blends of attitudes and perceptions? Looking in to the lives of homeless men we can see the forced strategies which create new masculine codes created for the adaption against patriarchal pressures. They are made out of survival need to circumnavigate the painful mental and physical reality that is only made worse by harsh masculine standards. Yet these new masculinities hold out a form of hopefulness for society. They offer up new discussion to what it means to be a man, the potential for change, and what we can expect from changes in male identity over time. Using what we learn from the disadvantaged, we can hope to improve the lives of people, although the process will take time, effort, and careful mediation. Timothy Nonn s Hitting Bottom: Homelessness, Poverty, and Masculinity touches on the complicated issues homeless men face, especially in terms of adapting to pressures of hegemonic masculinity. The mental and physical stress of homelessness for men stems from a denial of identity due to the rigid construction of maleness. Homeless men lose their connection to the same power other men come to expect, they lose their place in society, and because of the way our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How well do you think the governance system of JPMorgan Chase is working in protecting shareholder interests? Corporate governance is a set of actions used to handle the relationship between stakeholders by determining and controlling the strategic direction and performance of the organization. Corporate governance major concern is making sure that the strategic decisions are effective and that it paves the way towards strategic competitiveness. (Hitt, Ireland, Hoskisson, 2017, p. 310). To begin with, on February eighteenth nineteen seventy one Cheryl gave birth to a son (Henry Lee Raintree) whose father is her pimp (Mosinoier 227). The insensitivity of white men is expounded in their embarkment of engineering the atomic bomb. In the near conclusion of the story, Coyote travels to Los Alamos to make the world safe for freedom . The white men euphemistically portray the Manhattan project (in Los Alamos) as a catalyst of peace and prosperity. However, this notion is ironic as this project engineered a mass destruction weapon leading innocent people being evaporated in a second. King inputs this powerful idea to expose the Hippocratic nature of white men in that era, who patronized themselves as saints, but in reality, were responsible for the construction of the most dangerous military weapon. In the years 1900 1914 there was arguably a significant move towards democracy within Germany. There were general desire for political and social reform and many wished for constitutional change. However, come 1914 Germany still remained nearly as autocratic as it had been back in 1900. Over this period it can clearly be shown through 3 key areas: the Constitution, German policy and events, that, regardless of attempted moves towards democracy, Germany truly was an entrenched autocracy in this period. Flottenpolitik was an integral part of this in that it aimed to create a navy to rival that of Britain which would whip up patriotic feeling. This all followed the idea of Social Imperialism which was an attempt to buttress the position of the elites at the top of Germany s class system by diverting the masses away from social and political reform and towards a populist acceptance of the Kaiser and the Kaiserreich (Geoff Layton). Before learning more about the sixth mass extinction, you ll have to first understand what biodiversity is and what will happen when you tamper with it. Every species plays an important role in the ecosystem or in the world, no matter how big or small. A way to incorporate this into easier terms is the food chain or food web. Altering the biodiversity could cause the loss of an environment such as the Malayan field rat incident in the Chiew Larn islands. Laurance, William wrote the article, Islands of Extinction, which speaks of the Chiew Larn and how the reservoir was flooded. Larger animals perished due to the fact of how small Chiew Larn islands were during the flood. Chiew Larn island measures from 1 hectare, 2.5 acres, to 60 hectares, 148 acres. Some large animals such as tigers, deer, and elephants might have disappeared into the forest surrounds the reservoir. Because of this flood, it was easier for the Malayan field rat to come and invade the Chiew Larn islands. One of William colleague, Tony Lynam, traveled and did an experiment on the Chiew Larn islands after the flood. Tony s experiment was to use baited live traps to capture small mammals left on the island and ear tags them. The result that Lynam had discovered was astounding because the native mammal species had vanished within 10 hectares of the area (Laurance, 2014). The tragic change of the environment had lost the once healthy and plentiful biodiversity in the area. This is the start of an invader known as the Malayan field rat. The article, The Lowell Work Force primarily discussed what type of people, predominately women, worked in the Lowell mill. The information was neither new nor surprising for me. I had been to the Lowell Mill museum before and most the information there was in the article. The women were young women, from farming families, not yet married and mostly native born women, not immigrants. What did surprise me was why they chose to work. I would have guessed that they worked to earn wages to send home to help support their families, yet, that was rarely the case. Moving away did lighten the family burden; however, that is not why these women left. They moved to work in a factory so they could earn wages and use them for nonessential things, things that they wanted, not needed. In fact, regardless of your cultural affiliation, the majority of individuals in America are associated with a microcultural group (Neuliep, 2015). These various microcultures exist within the macroculture of the nation, yet possess distinct attributes such as: codes of conduct, customs, etiquette, hierarchies, language, and rituals (Long, 2017). Now that I am a young adult, I still feel like I am being affected by those same problems except now I am able to control myself when I start to feel the symptoms. In the scholarly article written by Frank Furstenberg Jr., Di vorce and the American Family, the topic about divorce rates being higher due to changes of age composition is proposed. Furstenberg says that the many experts believe that the velocity of changes are due to voluntary dissolution. He also expands on how divorce alters the course of childhood. Frank Furstenberg Jr. used statistics from the Us Bureau of the Census 1989 to talk about how there more children are born to single mothers in black households. African American moth ers mostly will remain unmarried for years and only one in five born in the 1980s will spend the majority of their childhood living with both parents. Most children acquire a step parent because most unmarried or previously divorced parents enter or re enter marriage (Furstenberg, 383). Chagas Disease Research Paper Disease will always be prevalent across the world, there is no place where disease is non existent and every single region across the world has its own varieties of diseases. Most of them are different, but they all have one thing in common, they destroy the life of a human by either bringing birth to acute symptoms or chronic ones and sometimes even death. Our focus though, will not be on every single region, but particularly in the tropics, home to malaria, hookworm, yellow fever, and most important of all Chagas disease. This meant that men like Kraus believed that Chagas disease was not the culprit behind the chronic stages and even later named the disease instead as parasitic thyroiditis (Armus, 82). Rudolf Kraus was an experienced bacteriologist that came from Europe and moved later to Argentina. He was very jealous of Chagas and influenced others to betray him and instead provide information for Kraus. People distorted much of Chagas work and it must be noted that his own friends as well turned their back against him and feed jealous enemies like Kraus information about the disease and the several gaps that Chagas had yet to figure out. Lewis In the year 1625, Francis Bacon, a famous essayist and poet wrote about the influences of fear on everyday life. He stated, Men fear death as children fear to go in the dark; and as that natural fear in children is increased with tales, so is the other (Essays Dedication of Death). Clearly, external surroundings affect perceptions of fear as well as human nature in general. Although C.S. Lewis published the novel, Out of the Silent Planet, over three centuries after Bacon wrote his theory on fear, Lewis similarly portrayed external surrounding to manipulate perceptions of fear. Migraine is also characterized by throbbing and pounding headache that can lead to nausea, vomiting, and in some instances photophobia. Presently, about 12 % of Americans experience migraine headaches every day. Research shows that migraine mostly affect people aged 15 to 55 years (Tepper, 2004). Migraine has been said to occur as a result of impaired nervous and circulatory system. In migraine, blood vessels undergo vasodilation. The enlargement of the vessels interferes with the nerve cells that normally surround the vessels making them secrete various chemical mediators. These chemicals include prostaglandins, substance P, interleukins, and cytokines (Schulman, 2010). The chemicals are responsible for inflammation and transmission of pain impulses. The associated feelings of nausea and vomiting are attributed to the activation of the sympathetic nervous system. The sympathetic response also leads to slowed motility and gastric emptying that in turn reduces absorptions of gastric contents such as nutrients and drugs. Additionally, the sympathetic system also leads to excessive sound and light sensitivity. Statistics reveals that migraines affect more women than men.
