The Legacy Of Alexander The Great
Alexander the Great Prior to approximately 350 B.C., Greece was a fragmented country with
individual tribes separated from each other due to the mountainous terrain and geographical obstacles.
Not only were they isolated physically, each individual polis remained focused on its own needs and
interests.(Hemingway) Philip II, a Macedonian king, wished that all of Greece could act as one and be
united under the same rule. In the Battle of Chaeronea, the son of Philip II, Alexander, claimed victory
for his father. During this key battle, Alexander demonstrated a remarkable act of bravery when he led
the cavalry. After conquering the rest of Greece, and attempting to further his territory into Persia,
Alexander s father was murdered. When Alexander took over his father s reign, unbeknownst to the
world at that time, he would change the course of history. Alexander was the greatest leader the
ancient world had ever produced because of his upbringing, the vast areas he conquered, and the way
he implemented the spread of Greek culture and traditions. Alexander the Great became the most
accomplished leader of his time due in part to his childhood and upbringing. Training and instruction
were a major role of Alexander s daily life in helping develop him into the great leader and warrior
that he was. Aristotle, a philosopher known for his wisdom, became Alexander s tutor and mentor in
various disciplines. From him, Alexander learned literature, philosophy, and mathematics.

Non Governmental Organizations Today in Bangladesh
The Government view is NGO s are really important for country like Bangladesh, they can have the
role to overcome gaps in delivering and reaching poor people when they require services in natural
and economical problems. The services provide by NGOs create competition among governmental
organizations NGO programs addressing poverty, bringing into sharper focus issues such as cost
effectiveness, transparency and accountability of the use of public funds. A well known NGO Rural
Employment Support Foundation established in 1990, is a state run microcredit funding institution.

Analysis Of Austin Lackey Shrubland Biome
Austin Lackey Shrubland Biome The Shrublands is a vast barren and dry land containing many
different type of shrubbery and desert like plants and animals. This biome is found mostly in the south
western portion of the United States. Shrublands contain low nutrient soil and leaf litter is critical for
nutrients to spread but is often blown away. Shrublands are very exposed to the sun which makes it
hot and dry. The annual rainfall is 10 20 inches. It s hot and dry in the summer and cool and moist in
the winter. Temperatures in the summer can get up to 100 degrees fahrenheit and down to 30 degrees
fahrenheit in the winter. Some plants have adapted to the shrubland environment by inheriting a waxy
texture on the leafs to reflect the sunlight away. The animals have adapted because they have become
more active during dawn and dusk to avoid the heat. The coyote (Canis Latis) is one of the top
predators in the open shrubland biome. California is mostly made up of the shrublands, they can
survive in densely populated areas of human settlements. Their diet consists of small mammals like
frogs, snakes, rabbits and vegetation which makes them omnivores. The Coyotes breeding season is in
the spring. A female coyote can have as many as twelve pups to a litter. The larger the litter correlates
to the population of wolves in the area. Large populations of coyotes will lead to small litters, whereas
small population of coyotes will lead to large litters. When the pups are born, the mom

My Teaching Style Uses The Facilitator Method Of Teaching
As an early childhood professional, I take pride in educating and caring for young children. My
preferred teaching style includes taking on a hands on, active approach to teaching and learning. Every
day brings new opportunities for me to learn with and about young learners and their families. My
teaching style is impacted by information gained from young children s home life and communities.
My students are engaged and motivated to learn in a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment that
enables them to freely explore their environments. My teaching style uses the facilitator method of
teaching. My students are encouraged to use their critical thinking skills, dig deeper, and use previous
understanding to make connections to new knowledge. Gill (2013) notes this style trains students to
ask questions through exploration; it is ideal for teaching science and similar subjects (education cu
portland.edu). As an educator, I intentionally plan and implement strategies to get to know my
students and their families. When new students enter my classroom I ask open ended questions and
have parents fill out surveys that enable me get to know all learners and their families on a deeper
level.
My previous experiences working with young children and their families enables me to be a
successful leader as I strive to accomplish my ultimate goal of being the founder of an early childhood
education and care program. Working at a military child development center and a women and

My Passion About Chemistry
As Nelson Mandela says: Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the
world.
And you know Science can change the world .
Science has the power to materialize dreams. It s an engine of creation. Science makes real the things
that everyone wish they had. We design the future and make it a reality.
And I am a gifted student in all subjects, but I am particularly passionate about Chemistry. I constantly
explore and learn new horizons of knowledge, to improve my knowledge. In the secondary school, I
was a typical college student attending the city level chemistry competition and winning many medal
prizes for the school. Up to the high school, continue learning, I used to wish that I could set up a
chemistry club to share my passion about chemistry for every student at my school, and now I did it,
that s Explore Chemistry.

Civilization s Disappearance
For 700 years, the Indus civilization provided its individuals with wealth, abundance and its own
artisan produced goods of surpassing beauty and quality. But, as suddenly as the civilization emerged,
it disappeared and declined.
Around 1900 BC, signs began to emerge of mounting problems. People started to leave the cities and
those who remained suffered from malnutrition. By around 1800 BC, most of the cities were
uninhabited. In the centuries to come and again, in sharp contrast to its contemporaries, Mesopotamia
and ancient Egypt recollection of the Indus civilization and its achievements seemed to disappear from
the record of human experience. Unlike the ancient Egyptians and Mesopotamians, the citizens of

A tectonic event may have diverted the system s sources toward the Ganges Plain, though there is
some uncertainty about the date of this event. The region in which the river s waters formerly arose is
acknowledged to be geologically active, and there is evidence of major tectonic events at the time the
Indus civilization collapsed. The river s very existence was unknown until the late 20th century, when
geologists used satellite photographs to trace its former course through the Indus Valley. If the
Ghaggar Hakra river system dried up when the Indus civilization was at its height, the consequences
would have been devastating. The refugees would have flooded the other cities. The critical mass
needed for economic integration would have collapsed. Although this particular factor is speculative,
and not generally accepted, the decline of the Indus Valley Civilization, as with any other civilization,
will have been due to a combination of a variety of catastrophic reasons.
In the declining years, Indus civilization people tried to hang on to their old way of life, but in the end,
they gave up. By 1600 BC, the cities were neglected. In the 19th century, British engineers discovered
that the abundant bricks found in the ruins in which they expressed no evident curiosity provided
excellent raw materials for railway construction. They proceeded to destroy much

Forgiveness In Smoke Signals
The film Smoke Signals shows the process of forgiveness and how hard it can be to forgive. Viewers
see Victor, challenged by two people who force him to rethink his self concept and also the beliefs he
has of his father. The first impression viewers get of Victor is that he has a bad attitude but still can tell
that he is not a bad person. Viewers are also given the impression that he is a bit lost, that he doesn t
really know who he is or wants to be. In the film the importance of overcoming the past, anger, and
also forgiveness is shown through the characters. The movie takes us with Victor on his journey
toward self discovery.
From the beginning to end of Smoke Signals Indian culture is shown. Victor says many things that
lead us to believe that he is very proud of his Indian culture. But then sometime he makes statements
that make us think he is not. In one flashback scene where his father asks him who his favorite Indian

Humanitarian Crisis
The humanitarian crisis in Yemen has attracted global attention. The Yemenis citizens cry out for help
from other countries to help them stop the spread of Cholera and terrorism in the region. The United
Nations Security Council has decided to intervene, however, the Security Council members are having
a tough time coming to a consensus regarding what types of intervention should be used. Bolivia, a
non permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, has condemned the terrorism in

Commissionary intervention occurs when a country would like to be a part of the solution to a country
s crisis, but does not wish to engage directly in the conflict. For example, Bolivia may be able to
produce a small aid package that contains medical supplies and food to the Yemenis citizens. On the
other hand, Bolivia has suggested that larger powers such as the United States, Russia, and the United
Kingdom intervene and work together in a balance of power to create a solution. Throughout the
simulation, Bolivia has most aligned with this form of intervention. It has proven to be difficult to
coordinate efforts among the United Nations Security Council members.
An intervention strategy of quarantine requires that there is cooperation within the region, but runs the
risk of diaspora interference and weakening Yemen, Saudi Arabia, and even Bolivia. This poses an
issue, as Saudi Arabia has forbade any type of aid shipments being allowed into Yemen, for fear that
rebel terrorist groups will ship in arms. Because of the instability in the Middle East, and it s concern
for terrorism human life, Bolivia would not want to further aggravate the situation by causing Yemenis
citizens to be displaced. Bolivia simply does not have the authority or military capability to facilitate
such intervention. The Bolivian military is negligible compared to the other

Raised Minimum Wage
In a 2015 survey conducted by The New York Times and CBS News, 71% of people surveyed
believed the minimum wage should be raised to $10.10 (Should The Federal). The minimum wage has
been increased by congress 22 times since 1938 and was last updated to $7.25 on July 24, 2009
(Minimum Wage). 3.3% of workers in the United States get paid the minimum wage or lower
(Background of). A federal minimum wage hike would lower poverty levels, decrease spending on
government assistance, and increase productivity in jobs. If the government raised the minimum wage,
then the amount of people in poverty would decline. The poverty line in 2015 was $12,331 a year,
only 20 percent below a full time minimum wage worker s annual salary of $15,080 (Should the
Federal). As a result, minimum wage citizens can barely meet their living needs. A study completed by
the National Low Income Housing Coalition in 2015 said that a worker must earn $15.50 an hour to
be able to rent a one bedroom apartment. If someone needed a two bedroom apartment they would
need to earn $19.35 an hour (Should the Federal). More people would be able to find adequate
housing or their family if minimum wage were to increase. As a result. Less people would be living on
the streets. If the minimum wage was raised to $9 an hour, over 300,000 people would be lifted out of
poverty. Even better, raising minimum wage to $10.10 an hour would result in over 900,000 people
out of poverty (Should the Federal). Consequently, more people would be living comfortably if the
minimum wage were to be raised. Poverty levels ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Safety Of A Car Vehicle
Most of the automotive companies believe that the next generation of cars are going to be autonomous
vehicles, but not all of them have the same opinion about it. Some companies want to bring a fully
autonomous car to reality, which wouldn t need any human interaction to drive the car, while other
ones are interested in driverless cars, which need humans to drive them. Both autonomous and
driverless concepts give cars more control over themselves, and both aim to give more comfort for
mankind, thus providing an easier life for drivers and passengers, but the idea of an autonomous car
on the roads raises some questions about the safety of it and the responsibility over a car like this. A
driverless car can have most of the autonomous features, it just needs someone to drive it, and then the
control would also be from a person that would be more watchful and take responsibilities over the
car. Ford is going to launch an autonomous car. The company already has a semi autonomous one in
market, the Fusion hybrid, and they say that the car is automated, but by automated they mean that it
is capable of automated operation under the supervision of a human driver. Ford already have one step
in automated driving, and in five years they are going to bring two new innovative features that are
going to be essential for self driving cars; one is the fully automated parking that allows the vehicle to
park itself with no help from the driver, the driver just have to press a button, then

Icu Family Needs Essay
Evidence Based Research Family needs during ICU
Gysell Viveros
Breckenridege School of Nursing
Having a family member unexpectedly in ICU can be a painful and difficult time. Evidence based
practice demonstrates that when a member of their social system is compromised, the entire family is
disrupted. The unfamiliar environment leaves family members in severe stress and in a state of shock.
Family members also require attention and needs to help cope with the stress of a family member in
intensive care unit. These needs are grouped into five categories: receiving assurance, remaining near
the patient, receiving information, being comfortable, and having support available. There should be ...

Second step in meeting the needs, is remaining near the patient. The desire to link and maintain
familial relationships helps. It brings a family closer while at the same time support is given to the
patient. Since being in ICU is an unexpected event, many time family members depend of the nurses
to be near the patients. In ICU the nurses have a ratio usually of 1:2. As an intervention to have this
need met, tell family members of the flexible visiting hours. Inform them of the visiting hours, timing
of visitors, and the visitors permitted. They are informed of the unit routine and patient care needs.
The ICU should establish practice guidelines for family visiting that incorporate patient and family
needs for proximity, maintain family relationships, and allow family to support the patient (Kirchhoff,
Pugh, Calame and Reynold, 1993). Research demonstrates that flexible, inclusive, and open visiting
that is responsive to patient, family, and care is beneficial to all parties (Titler, 1998).
Receiving information is the third family need. The critical care nurse should assess the knowledge the
family has and needs. Let the family members know that it would be best to choose a designated
family member to inform everyone of any changes and keep everyone in the family circle informed of
the patient s progress. Giving the patients family information will give them a sense of control and
help reduce their anxiety.

Technology Changes In America
Technology was the highlight of every 7th graders day last year. Technology was interesting and fun
and always taught us something new. We as a class were constantly doing new activities on the
computers, but all that changed this year. Technology was replaced with a special class named Math
lab. At first most of our class knew what to think of what this new special would be. Yet after the first
class it was obvious what Math Lab was. Math lab was a boring, repetitive, strict class that only
minorly strengthens skills in Math that most of both classes already knew. If we do not bring back
technology instead of math lab we may not be able to learn computer skills that are needed in High
School.
If Technology does not come back instead of Math lab we and future 8th graders may not know skills
on the computer needed for high school. When our class enters high school, with technology as a class
gone, we will not know how to use important programs such as PowerPoint or Microsoft Word.
Knoxville Catholic, Farragut High school, and Lenoir City high school have a computers technology
class. They have no Math Lab or computers math class. So what then is the point of having a class that
does not exist in the later grades? If middle school is serving the purpose of preparing us for high

More Than A Busker Analysis
Writer: Jessica Morris
Category: Blog
Title: More Than a Busker: David Knight
Body:
It is not uncommon to come across buskers in the Melbourne CBD. The city is rich in music makers
and music lovers, and you will find up and coming artists, bagpiping locals, and people in bunny
costumes playing electric guitar performing at all hours.
Because of this, when I was walking through Melbourne Central the other day with a group of friends,
I was fairly nonchalant to the young musician sitting near the food court. He had a single mic set up
with a couple of speakers, an acoustic guitar in hand and one lying behind him. My friends and I
stopped to listen. And not just listen, like you do politely for buskers who catch your eye and make
you awkwardly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I saw the man nod politely at the scattered applause of onlookers, before seating himself on one of his
own speakers and commanding the food court, which had now become his stage. And I observed him
become lost in another world full of melodies and beats we could not hear.
I am normally struck by the meaning of a song, the lyrics and how they are delivered. Yet when I met
David Knight, a soloist who focuses entirely on his skills playing acoustic guitar, I was able to learn
why musicians are so drawn to the instrumental aspect of their work.
It was in the hopeful progression of chords, ushering me back to my childhood in Welcome Home,
and the intricate way his fingers danced across the frets in With the Wind. As he covered some of his
favourite tunes, he placed his own spin on them, having us believe he could have written them through
the minute rise and fall of every chord.
I normally pass by buskers, but the music of David Knight drew me in like a story begging you to
reach the last page. It s hard for musician s to make it in this industry, and it is easy to pass by the ones
still doing the hard yards, where the local coffee shop is their arena. David Knight made me pause and
see this for what it truly could be: stunning, moving and well crafted

I Was A Skinny Tomboy Kid
According to the poem, I Was a Skinny Tomboy Kid by Alma Luz Villanueva, in order to truly find
freedom, one must believe in their own myth , transform their reality , and create a legendary self .
The persona believes that the only way to liberty is to portray masculinity and to avoid being weak,
like her mother was. As the poem shifts from the past to the present, she realizes that there is much
more to identity than pretending to be something she is not. Villanueva s uses literary devices, the
expression of freedom, and the transition of verb tenses to prove the power of accepting one s identity.
Throughout the poem, the author uses assonance and similes to show how her self appreciation was
eluding her grasp. The vowel sound i is heavily repeated, as can be detected when the author writes,
Chinese guys (47) and I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At first, the character says with my fists clenched into tight balls (3 4) to describe what she used to be.
Later, however, the poem reads my fists are tightly clenched (81). This repetition of clenching fists
shows that this poem is a reflection of the past. When the author transitions into present tense, she
writes, I coil up in a self/mothering fashion and tell myself it s o.k (84 87). This suggests that she has
finally figured out that a motherly or female figure still has great strength. Instead of protecting herself
by pretending to be masculine and tough, she understands how much power a female figure holds.
This portrays the internal growth she has made as time progressed. At the beginning, she was angry at
the world and was indignant at the fact that she was a weak girl. With experience, she was able to
embrace her true identity and view the hidden power she always had within her. This transition from

Of Identity And Diversity John Locke
In his essay Of Identity and Diversity, Locke talks about the importance of personal identity. The title
of his essay gives an idea of his view. Identity, according to Locke, is the memory and self
consciousness, and diversity is the faculty to transfer memories across bodies and souls. In order to
make his point more understandable, Locke defines man and person. Locke identifies a man as an
animal of a certain form and a person as a thinking intelligent being. Furthermore, to Locke, a person
has reasons and reflections and can consider itself as being itself in different times and places; and
he/she does it with his/her consciousness (429). Basically, personal self is a particular body and
personal identity is consciousness. In this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the one hand, if in the past one lived by acting in a
good way one hopes to be rewarded in the future. And on the other hand, if one lived by acting in a
bad way one fears to be punished in the future. For instance, John acted in a bad way when he was 20,
he committed war crimes; hence, he should expect to be punished for his actions. But Locke s analysis
is not that simple; according to his definition of personal identity, people should be held responsible
for their actions only if they remember doing those actions. Consequently, based on Locke s view,
John should not be punished for the war crimes he committed since he does not remember what he did
at 20. In this example, Locke does not punish John, who committed terrible war crimes, just because
he does not remember. Is Locke s judgment fair to people who committed the same crimes but
remember what they did? Or, is his judgment fair to the victim s families? Locke s judgment is only
based on whether or not the wrong doer remembers his actions; it does not take into account other
important elements; that is one of the reasons why Locke s theory about personal identity has been
criticized.
Locke s view on personal identity has strengths but it also has several weaknesses or limitations. One
important strength is when Locke states that a person should be held responsible for his/her actions if
he/she recalls doing those actions. In this case, the person

Informative Essay On Donald Trump
Naomi Benford Thad Prater U.S. Government 124 December 2017Trump epitomizes Abuse of Power
The day of November 8th 2016 would be a day that changed the United States forever. This was the
day that Donald Trump, a professional and very much so emotional tweeter, was elected as the 45th
President of the United States. Commonly known as a business mogul, he is also a reality TV star. A
mogul is a very influential and powerful person in a business or industry. A reality tv star is a person
who has gained social recognition through their appearance on television. Reality TV is supposedly an
inside look into the un scripted documentary into the life of someone. Donald John Trump was born in
Queens New York on June 14, 1946. Donald Trump stated that he was strongly influenced by his
father in his decision to pursue the career of real estate development, despite his degree in economics.
He graduated from Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania. Donald Trump first
became best known when he was able to take an unprofitable hotel, revamp it, and then make huge
profits. The Trump tower brought Donald national recognition. Donald Trump is known for his
immature tweeting and controversial decisions as the president of the United States. He is the reason
that there are more hateful people coming out in the US. He makes them believe that they can be more
open and aggressive which is not right. I believe that Donald Trump will be the reason or at least hold
a key role in the creation of World
2War III. There have been many occurrences that have had negative outcomes with Donald Trump. He
is very impulsive, overly dominant, and inconsiderate. There have been many instances where Donald
Trump has been accused of abusing his power. When Donald Trump was first elected into office, on
the same day of the beginning of his presidency period, he signed an executive order that intended to
dismantle the Affordable HealthCare Act, commonly known as Obamacare. Donald Trump says that
by doing this he will lower certain taxes but he was oblivious to the fact that he was disassembling
healthcare for almost 20 million people. He is an elderly incompetent businessman who has no

Fashion is the imitation of a given example and satisfies the demand for social adaptation. . . . The
more an article becomes subject to rapid changes of fashion, the greater the demand for cheap

Proximity also mattered because it reduced shipping costs and lags, and because poorer neighbors
sometimes benefited from trade concessions. While China became an export powerhouse across the
board, greater regionalization was the dominant motif of changes in the apparel trade in the 1990s.
Turkey, North Africa, and sundry Eastern European countries emerged as major suppliers to the
European Union; Mexico and the Caribbean Basin as major suppliers to the United States; and China
as the dominant supplier to Japan (where there were no quotas to restrict imports).3 World trade in
apparel and textiles continued to be regulated by the Multi Fiber Arrangement (MFA), which had
restricted imports into certain markets (basically the United States, Canada, and Western Europe)
since 1974. Two decades later, agreement was reached to phase out the MFA s quota system by 2005,
and to further reduce tariffs (which averaged 7% to 9% in the major markets). As of 2002, some
warned that the transition to the post MFA world could prove enormously disruptive for suppliers in
many exporting and importing countries, and might even ignite demands for managed trade. There

Effects Of The Monroe Doctrine
The Monroe Doctrine was established by U.S. president James Monroe and the U.S. secretary of state
John Quincy Adams. Their plan of the Monroe Doctrine represented a solid line where the Americans
will no longer tolerate interference from European powers in any way shape or form. For the most
part, America was minding its own business until Imperialism started booming in the late 1800 s.
Latin America was less developed and America saw South and Central America as perfect candidates
to extract resources and sell U.S. goods. The culture of capitalism was on the rise. The start of
Manifest Destiny began to construct U.S. foreign policy which led to America reaching towards the
Caribbean and Latin America to expand.
Firstly, If God and mission was the road to Manifest Destiny, Imperialism was the light that shined
bright to lead the way (Lubragge). America started off by investing in businesses and land all around
Latin America. Imperialism led to the U.S. taking over the Philippines, Guam, and Puerto Rico via the
Spanish American War (Lubragge). America was under the impression they were safeguarding the
world from Spanish oppression and began sculpting expansionist policies. The Spanish American War
put an end to Spain s colonial empire in the region and gave the United States complete control of the
Pacific. The U.S. victory led to a peace treaty between the U.S. and Spain, which gave all claims of
Cuba to the United States, while ceding sovereignty over Guam, Puerto Rico,

The Effect Of Administrative Turnover On Curriculum Essay

The Effect of Administrative Turnover on Curriculum
Introduction Even while 15 30% of schools in the United States experience administrative turnover
each year (Béteille, Kalogrides, Loeb, 2011, p. 3), it is very rare for schools to experience it on a
continual basis where it occurs every other year. Yet, this is the case in the school where I work. Over
the past 8 years, the school has had four different administrators in charge of the building and district
(the district is made up of one K 8 school). Each change in leadership has brought with it a change in
educational focus, philosophy, and goals. Though the staff has hailed some changes and hated others,
people s major concern is that there has been little to no consistency in curriculum over the past
decade, particularly in the elementary classrooms. The purpose of this literature review is to identify
the different ways teachers can overcome administrative turnover in order to maintain current
curriculum. This review will also identify the optimal amount of time administrators should remain at
one school and district in order to positively affect student achievement through curriculum
development.
Background
Because the Moonachie School district consists of one K 8 school, it has a superintendent/principal in
charge of all aspects of the district and a director of curriculum who acts more as an assistant principal
than a director of curriculum. Over the last 6 years, the district

Ancient Rome Vs. Ancient Roman Life
Even though, Ancient Roman life was revolved or surrounded around working and business or trade,
there was also little free time available for freedom to just rest and relax. The Romans sometimes
relaxed by watching or interacting with the entertainment and the Olympics. The competitions were
varying from swimming to playing board games; to attending theatre performances, athletics and
forms of entertainment appreciated by Romans in ancient times weren t much different from those
today.
A couple of the sports and entertainment played and watched by the Ancient Rome are followed:

Entertainment: There were several other activities to keep the people of Rome content and to prevent
uprisings, such as chariot races at the Circus Maximus, musical and theatrical performances, public
executions, beast hunts, and gladiatorial combat. Rome s most famous ampitheatre, the Colosseum,
could accommodate up to 50,000 spectators. There are also accounts of the arena being flooded to
hold naval battles (called Naumachia) for the public to watch. These forms of entertainment, all of
which were massive public spectacles, were a distinct and important part of ancient Roman culture.

1984 And Brave New World Essay
Brave New World and 1984
As I read Brave New World and 1984, I noticed how some of Aldous Huxley and
George Orwell s prophecies are becoming true. As science and technology progresses,
we have the opportunity to alter few aspects of our lives, even though our freedom and
privacy may be in jeopardy.
In Brave New World, science allows babies to be artificially produced in a
laboratory. Nowadays, parents who cannot conceive children are also able to artificially
produce their children with the help of science and the genes of both parents. As science
advances, the parents may even be able to reform the genes of their baby in order to have

Even though it is not as
extreme as in the Brave New World, I feel that we are also being conditioned. It is more
obvious now. When we watch commercials on television, we are conditioned to buy the
products and believe that by buying that particular brand of clothing we will look better
and be well liked. The ads are harmless as long as we do not sacrifice the important idea
that we genuinely want the product and that we are still making the decision to buy it.
A similarity between Oceania, in 1984, and our country today is that the caste
system still exists. Most of the power belongs to the rich, or the Inner Party. The middle
class, or the Outer Party, are trying to become part of the higher class. While the poor, or
the Proles, are working hard in order to make ends meet and just want to be left alone.
Like Orwell, I feel that the caste system will always exist.
Also, the citizens of Oceania are constantly being monitored by the government.
We are also being monitored. There are cameras everywhere, even though most of the
time we are not aware of it. When we go to the store, the surveillance cameras are there
to make sure we do not steal anything. When we go to the bank, cameras are watching us
make our transactions. In some cities, cameras may also be watching us as we cross the
street or get into our car. What is next? Cameras in our homes?

Chapter Seven
Chapter Seven Cosmic Geography
Cosmic geography concerns how people envision the shape and structure of the world around them.
Walton makes it known of our current understanding of the cosmos, and how it puts us at a relatively
insignificance in the vastness This allow us to understand the weather and times. Walton gives a
breakdown of the different matter that make up the cosmic, and how it works . It is physical and
material and works by the physical properties and the laws of motion. We learn that It has taken many
centuries to understand this through science. At the same time, however in the ancient world they hadn
t developed the understanding we have today of our world around us. Walton views of the ancient
world seem to be that, they worked off of what they saw and by chance form an opinion of how things
worked. We learn that without a God to lead them it gave them a scent of loss and it left their
surroundings in the hands of the gods. Walton tell of the heavens and that this is where the gods lived,
he goes on to say that it is many levels of heavens exist based on the hierarchical position within the
pantheon. The sky is what separated the earth and the heavens. He tell the works of the mountains, and
how they helped hold the sky up. In this chapter we get a lesson on the working of the cosmic. The
water from above was protected with the sky, so when the sky opened up, it flooded. In his book the

Groundwater Samples Were Collected And Reported By Sultan...
Groundwater samples were collected and reported by Sultan et al. (2011) from Sinai for isotopic
analyses of H and O from open and productive wells tapping three types of aquifers: (1) fractured
basement, (2) Nubian Sandstone unconfined aquifer cropping out at the foothills of the basement
outcrops, and (3) alluvial. They believed that the unconfined and alluvial aquifers fed by a fractured
basement aquifer through discharging into the overlying sediments. The δD and δ18O isotopic
compositions of the groundwater samples from the unconfined Nubian Sandstone aquifers in the
recharge areas cropping out at the foothills of the basement outcrops are somewhat depleted (δD: 22.7
to 32.8‰; δ18O: 4.47 to 5.22‰) compared to those from fractured basement outcrops (δD: 19.9 to
23.2‰; δ18O: 3.77 to 5.05‰) and those from alluvial aquifers (δD: 22.7 to 23.4‰; δ18O: 4.53 to
5.01‰), but they are less depleted than those reported from the Gulf of Suez (Sturchio et al., 1996).
The isotopic compositions of the samples from the fractured basement and alluvial aquifers are similar
to those of average modern precipitation from Al Arish and Rafah (Fig. 3). The unconfined aquifer
shows a mixing between fossil waters of the Western Desert, formed in pluvial period, and modern
precipitation deposited in dry and warm climatic conditions (Sultan et al., 1997, 2011).

A Night Divided
By: Jennifer A. Nielsen
The book A Night Divided, is a great book. It is about a girl named Gerta and her family. She has an
older brother Fritz, a brother Dominic, her father (papa) and her mother Frau Lowe. The Berlin Wall
had just gone up after the Second World War separating East and West Germany, and her and her
family live in the West. One night her brother Dominic and her father decide they need to get through
the wall for work without guards noticing because the consequences could be deadly. Her brother and
Father make it across but they cannot find a way to come back because the wall has been added on
and is even more dangerous now. Gerta ends up not being able to talk to her father or brother for at
least 4 years. One day Gerta was walking to school with her best friend Anna when she see s her
brother, Dominic on the other side of the wall and waves. She eventually ended up seeing her dad to
but then she got caught by an officer by the name of Officer Muller. She ended up getting away from
the Officer but she knew he would be watching her every move from now on. But everyday when she
goes to school she see s them on the platform and her dad is doing a dance that he always did for her
as a kid when they were little. But, he continues doing the digging scene from the dance trying to give
her a signal that he wants her to do something or he is going to do something. But if Gerta tries to
cross that wall it could be deadly and we don t know what would happen.
The three main characters of the book are Gerta, her brother Fritz, and Anna which is Gerta s best
friend. Gerta is the main character and she is very determined, brave and loves her family very much
and wants them all together again. Fritz is Gerta s older brother who has her back and is with her for
everything. He is a hard working man and will have to go and be a soldier if they do not make it to the
other side of the wall in time. Anna is Gerta s best friend and they always are there for each other.
When one day Anna s older brother Peter tried to escape and Gerta knew that Peter was going to
escape but did not tell Anna and their best friend relationship could be

Summary Of The Post American World
In the book The Post American World, by Fareed Zakaria, he spoke of the three economical shifts in
the world throughout history. Each one of these shifts has changed the world drastically, with political,
culture, and of course, economical differences in every country in the world. What Zakaria had
brought to my attention very early in the book was that we are currently living through the third
economical shift right now. To be honest, I had never really thought about where the world was
heading, and if I hadn t read this book, I would ve thought that the United States would remain the
main superpower in the world and the rest of the world would sort of stay at their current status. Poor
countries would remain poor, and every developed country ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

As these countries adopt certain programs from the United States and improve them to make the

dust. As he says in the interview with BBC. The United States needs to reboot, and make changes in
its health care, pensions, social security, and energy (BBC, Zakaria). As the United States is for the
first time in a long time subject to a change in the world rather than making that change, the United
States will have to make some major changes to either keep up or get ahead of the other rising
countries. As Zakaria describes these possible changes it would literally change life in the U.S that we
have now, but change it for the better. This is shown by Zakaria s confidence in the U.S to always do
what has to be done, no matter what the circumstances. From this book Zakaria has taught me and all
of of his other readers that big changes are coming. That history as we know it is slowly being
rewritten as we know it. That what was seen as impossible even 10 years ago is a reality and we are
living through it, how exciting! The United States won t be the main superpower of the world,
countries we would never expect to rise economically are rising the superpower penthouse is growing.

Displacement and Don Juan Essay
Displacement and Don Juan
Unlike the fitfully epic Don Juan , I d like to begin in medias res , with the anger of Lord Byron. We
join him thick in the struggle with a central concern of DJ s composition: the perils of transmission:
Pray when I send you a parcel or packet do acknowledge it I care nothing about my letters or your
answers I only want to know, when I have taken trouble about a thing that it has arrived.
By the time he fired off those impatient words to his publisher John Murray in 1821, Byron had been
living abroad and publishing overseas for five years. They were years marked by drastic shifts of tone
in his writing from earnestness to playfulness in his poetry, and quite the reverse trajectory in

When Byron left England for good in 1816, and took up Childe Harold once again, he still didn t trust
the post; instead, he found close friends who were headed from Italy to London friends who had
inspired or supplemented Byron s work, such as Percy Shelley and John Cam Hobhouse to carry
Childe Harold back to Murray. The transmission of DJ s first two cantos went along similarly
improvised, inside lines with the distinction that the bearer of this new cargo of poesy was a only a
minor acquaintance of Byron s, the roving Lord Lauderdale, who had no personal link to the lines he
carried. The reader of Byron s letters of November 1818 finds many references to Lauderdale wending
his way slowly towards London with verse Byron knew would make a big impact. Yet when he
delivered DJ, Lauderdale also carried along with it unflattering gossip about Byron s Venetian
dissipation. It was a marred delivery, with Lauderdale proving to be, Byron later wrote, a damned old
Ladro porco fottuto, a son of a Bitch for all his laced Coat. The personal courier meant a compromise
of authority. Byron sent the remainder of DJ to London via the impersonal mechanism of the post.
That method of delivery, of course, offered its own hazards. The reestablishment of postal routs
directly after the continental wars had to seem tenuous,

A Sociological Issue On South Africa
In South Africa race took a shift from biology to culture. Because is of its many diverse indigenous
groups, race was no longer a difference between Afrikaners and the English but with Zulus, Xhosa and
Tswanas. Language was used as a determinant of race. Dubow argues that not much scientifically
constructed race has been done in South Africa despite the fact that race has deep seated roots. This is
because many dismissed race as being scientific as it began to appear to be a sociological issue.
Science was then pushed aside and race was now seen as a social and intellectual construct (Dubow,
1995: 2 5) from natural science to solely social science resulting from everyday experiences. When we
say race is a social construct we disregard any possibility of it being that of a scientific one. It is not
something that we are born with because of our culture (Erasmus, 2005: 9), instead, simply out, race is
a bunch of meanings that we attach to people. We do not dispute the fact that there are differences
among people. Those differences just run much deeper. By saying race is a social construct this is not
to say that it doesn t exist seeing that it affects our lives; it determines our real life experiences. Saying
it is socially constructed means that race is a learnt behaviour and what can be learnt can easily be
unlearnt. We say it is constructed because it was used as a basis of division by powerful people who
felt superior. Its implications as a construct are still very

Correlation between the novels The Flight to Canada and The Different Drummer Both of the novels
The Flight to Canada by Ishamael Reed and The Different Drummer by Melvin Kelley were powerful

encourages us to strive and push oneself to make a real difference in life, and stop taking our lives and
existence for granted. Both novels detailed the story of the main characters, that were striving to leave
their homes for a better life. All in all, both novels clearly illustrates the history of the complicated
relationships between the two races: whites and blacks.
As depicted in both novels, apart from poor compensation and intimidation, the slaves worked long
hours and under pressure. After working on the plants and sugarcane fields, the slaves had to do other
duties in a homestead, handling cattle, houses and so forth. In most of these cases, the slaves

do not like taking medication so when I can avoid it I do. I also know many people who prefer natural
therapies. One of my friends drinks a ginger milk tea to help her with her nervousness and she says it
helps her a lot.

It is important to tell your healthcare provider about natural products you are taking because they can
still have a interaction with other medications you are taking. Sometimes people think since something
is natural it won t effect a medication you are taking like a blood thinner, but some herbs also thin
your blood. If you didn t tell your healthcare provider you are taking a natural supplement that also
has this effect it could lead to devastating results.
5. I would not take anything other than herbal supplements, like peppermint tea or ginseng, agrimony
used to help sore throats, and valerian roots it helps ease your mind. I am for using the earth s natural
plants, roots and other elements to heal yourself. I would never take anything not in pure form. I
would do my own research and decides what s best for me.
Part 2.
I am confused because it seemed like they didn t really talk about the case, everyone was more upset
that they had to be there rather than actually determining the verdict. I would stand up against the
majority if I felt in my heart it was the right stance to take. I would not just go along with what others
think just to fit it. I will always stand up for what I believe in any situation. I think he was right, he

The Formation Of A Contract
A contract is an agreement between people or legal entities (such as corporations) in which one party
agrees to perform a service or provide goods in exchange for the payment of money or other goods or
services. A binding, legally enforceable contract can be in writing or oral. The formation of a contract
is accomplished when there is an offer and acceptance between the contracting parties of the exchange
of consideration, something of value. This offer and acceptance are occasionally referred to as a
meeting of the minds. If the parties have not reached a meeting of the minds, then there is no
agreement. Like any other contract, the primary features for the creation of a marriage contract are
offer and acceptance. When Victoria ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By giving a ring as promise ring, inviting Emily to Florida any by Emily accepting the ring, both
Victoria and Emily entered into a bilateral contract. 0% Issues One key issue for this case is Breach of
Contract . By giving the engagement ring and promising to Emily a better life in Florida, and asking
her to move to Florida and Emily accepts the ring, a Bilateral contract was created. When Victoria
went back on her promise she breached the contract. Also by not mentioning to Emily that she was
still married is a clear act of fraud by Victoria. Breach of Contract Both unilateral and bilateral
agreements are enforceable in the courts. The agreements change the status of the parties to it. The
reverse is possible too. Breach of contract can occur due to many reasons. With the bilateral
agreement, both the parties will suffer if the agreement is not fulfilled. It is more of a symbiotic
relationship. A breach of engagement to marry is a cause of action in some jurisdiction. Some states
have taken the exemption to this. Florida is one of these states. Victoria s promise to marry Emily is
treated as a legally binding contract. When a breach is committed to such promise, an action will lie
for damages. An action for breach of a promise to marry is predicated upon the proposition that
Victoria has breached an existing valid contract to marry. A breach of a

A Synopsis Of The Film Jaws
Duna. Duna. DunaDunaDuna Dunaaaa (Jaws Theme Song). Chomp. Movies about sharks are very
stereotypical. Jaws the movie was exaggerating the attacks of sharks on humans. Jaws showed that
sharks are just out to get humans. We are there main meal. That s not true. They are very stereotypical
about sharks and their history as I have said before. Well your Man eating, flesh ripping sharks hunt
and attack the humankind by using their senses, methods of attacks, and aggressiveness in history.
Sharks use their senses to devour human flesh. Sharks are very special marine life. They have six
senses. The sharks has a unique organ called a Lorenzini. A Lorenzini is the organ that can locate

In the movie Soul Surfer, the shark used the sneak attack. A sneak attack is when a shark comes out of
nowhere and sets its mind for whatever reason with a fast repeated productivity. A Great white shark
uses a sneak attack a lot when hunting for prey. There are 3 different types of attacks. All are as
equally as painful just some come out of nowhere. The next attack is called a Bump and Bite attack.
The Bump and Bite Attack is when a shark starts to circle the victim and then bumps the human before
the attack. The shark bites because it doesn t get a feel or doesn t know what the object is and bites
(Bachleda 164). These attacks don t happen very often but are very scary. You are very impatient at
that point because you are waiting for it to attack once it starts circling you. The 3rd attack is called a
Hit and Run Attack. The Hit and Run Attack is the most common attack on humans.A Hit and Run
attack normally happens near the shore line. Most attacks are in fresh water, oceans, shallow waters,

Examples Of Allusion In Shrek
Allusions Another type of translation technique used in Shrek series by Wierzbięta is allusion, a
reference to a particular event, person, thing, piece of literature or art. For instance, the authors of
Shrek made allusions to a number of fairy tales, like Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty, that Polish
audience is also familiar with and for that reason they will be able to understand them and fully
appreciate their entertaining function. The allusion to the popular film productions, like Mission
Impossible or Baywatch are also noticeable in the whole series. The majority of such allusions in
Shrek is rooted in the visual rather than aural aspect of the film and in consequence, is not of translator
s concern. However, when it comes to the verbal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The text is even more famous since as a part of a campaign various TV advertisements were broadcast
with the participation of famous Polish actors like Bogusław Linda and a large number of billboards
were placed in most Polish cities. Provided that Polish audience s familiar with the slogan, they had no
difficulties with understanding its humorous purpose.
Example 3 (Shrek)
Ha, ha! That s right, fool! Now I m flying, talking donkey! You might have seen a housefly, maybe
even a superfly but I bet you ain t never seen a donkey fly.

Analysis Of Tag Along By Tom Ryan
Sometimes the most unlikely people can change your life. In the novel Tag Along, by Tom Ryan, we
see a group of the most different teenagers team up, whether by fate or by an unusual turn of events,
for a wild, one night long adventure. The story changes into the perspective of the four main
characters: Andrea, Candace, Paul, and Roemi. At the beginning of the novel, they start out as near
strangers all disappointed when their prom goes askew before it even begins, but by the end, after 8
hours of haphazard events, they have formed a strong bond. The characters and the readers alike learn
many life lessons, however, all of which root towards the same big meaning, that people are not what
you expect them to be. This meaning is emphasised in the story through three components, the
narrative point of view, the use of irony, and character development. People will seem different
depending on whose eyes are being looked through. This statement can be proved true by the novel. In
Tag Along, the author cleverly chose the narrative point of view to be not from the perspective of one
protagonist, but of each main character. This bold approach is especially moving and essential given
the theme of the story. The readers get to witness each character s first impression of the other
characters through their eyes. It is largely poignant due to the fact that true selves of the characters
finally seen in the end completely counteract the first impressions that marked them in the

Social Media Annotated Bibliography
Annotated Bibliography: Influence of Social Media This annotated bibliography investigates several
sources that discuss the positive and negative effects of social media usage in order to present an
argument on the influence of social media on society. My position is that overall social media can
have a negative impact if used irresponsibly, however given the prevalence of social media in today s
society, it is impossible to avoid. Barker, M.S., Barker, D.I., Bormann, N.F., Neher, K.E. (2013).

On the positive side, she points out that social media connects people, allows all voices to be heard,
allows for work to be done from anywhere, and connects business to their customers. On the negative
side, she argues that social media reduces productivity, can be addictive, reduces privacy, and allows
for people to criticize everything. Her conclusion is that it is difficult to tell if social media is actually
positive or negative as evidence exists for both sides of the argument. This article is useful for my

  • 2. The Legacy Of Alexander The Great Alexander the Great Prior to approximately 350 B.C., Greece was a fragmented country with individual tribes separated from each other due to the mountainous terrain and geographical obstacles. Not only were they isolated physically, each individual polis remained focused on its own needs and interests.(Hemingway) Philip II, a Macedonian king, wished that all of Greece could act as one and be united under the same rule. In the Battle of Chaeronea, the son of Philip II, Alexander, claimed victory for his father. During this key battle, Alexander demonstrated a remarkable act of bravery when he led the cavalry. After conquering the rest of Greece, and attempting to further his territory into Persia, Alexander s father was murdered. When Alexander took over his father s reign, unbeknownst to the world at that time, he would change the course of history. Alexander was the greatest leader the ancient world had ever produced because of his upbringing, the vast areas he conquered, and the way he implemented the spread of Greek culture and traditions. Alexander the Great became the most accomplished leader of his time due in part to his childhood and upbringing. Training and instruction were a major role of Alexander s daily life in helping develop him into the great leader and warrior that he was. Aristotle, a philosopher known for his wisdom, became Alexander s tutor and mentor in various disciplines. From him, Alexander learned literature, philosophy, and mathematics. ... • 4. Analysis Of Austin Lackey Shrubland Biome Austin Lackey Shrubland Biome The Shrublands is a vast barren and dry land containing many different type of shrubbery and desert like plants and animals. This biome is found mostly in the south western portion of the United States. Shrublands contain low nutrient soil and leaf litter is critical for nutrients to spread but is often blown away. Shrublands are very exposed to the sun which makes it hot and dry. The annual rainfall is 10 20 inches. It s hot and dry in the summer and cool and moist in the winter. Temperatures in the summer can get up to 100 degrees fahrenheit and down to 30 degrees fahrenheit in the winter. Some plants have adapted to the shrubland environment by inheriting a waxy texture on the leafs to reflect the sunlight away. The animals have adapted because they have become more active during dawn and dusk to avoid the heat. The coyote (Canis Latis) is one of the top predators in the open shrubland biome. California is mostly made up of the shrublands, they can survive in densely populated areas of human settlements. Their diet consists of small mammals like frogs, snakes, rabbits and vegetation which makes them omnivores. The Coyotes breeding season is in the spring. A female coyote can have as many as twelve pups to a litter. The larger the litter correlates to the population of wolves in the area. Large populations of coyotes will lead to small litters, whereas small population of coyotes will lead to large litters. When the pups are born, the mom ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But, as suddenly as the civilization emerged, it disappeared and declined. Around 1900 BC, signs began to emerge of mounting problems. People started to leave the cities and those who remained suffered from malnutrition. By around 1800 BC, most of the cities were uninhabited. A tectonic event may have diverted the system s sources toward the Ganges Plain, though there is some uncertainty about the date of this event. The region in which the river s waters formerly arose is acknowledged to be geologically active, and there is evidence of major tectonic events at the time the Indus civilization collapsed. The river s very existence was unknown until the late 20th century, when geologists used satellite photographs to trace its former course through the Indus Valley. If the Ghaggar Hakra river system dried up when the Indus civilization was at its height, the consequences would have been devastating. The refugees would have flooded the other cities. The critical mass needed for economic integration would have collapsed. Although this particular factor is speculative, and not generally accepted, the decline of the Indus Valley Civilization, as with any other civilization, will have been due to a combination of a variety of catastrophic reasons. In the declining years, Indus civilization people tried to hang on to their old way of life, but in the end, they gave up. By 1600 BC, the cities were neglected. In the 19th century, British engineers discovered that the abundant bricks found in the ruins in which they expressed no evident curiosity provided excellent raw materials for railway construction. Commissionary intervention occurs when a country would like to be a part of the solution to a country s crisis, but does not wish to engage directly in the conflict. For example, Bolivia may be able to produce a small aid package that contains medical supplies and food to the Yemenis citizens. On the other hand, Bolivia has suggested that larger powers such as the United States, Russia, and the United Kingdom intervene and work together in a balance of power to create a solution. Throughout the simulation, Bolivia has most aligned with this form of intervention. It has proven to be difficult to coordinate efforts among the United Nations Security Council members. An intervention strategy of quarantine requires that there is cooperation within the region, but runs the risk of diaspora interference and weakening Yemen, Saudi Arabia, and even Bolivia. This poses an issue, as Saudi Arabia has forbade any type of aid shipments being allowed into Yemen, for fear that rebel terrorist groups will ship in arms. • 14. Raised Minimum Wage In a 2015 survey conducted by The New York Times and CBS News, 71% of people surveyed believed the minimum wage should be raised to $10.10 (Should The Federal). The minimum wage has been increased by congress 22 times since 1938 and was last updated to $7.25 on July 24, 2009 (Minimum Wage). 3.3% of workers in the United States get paid the minimum wage or lower (Background of). A federal minimum wage hike would lower poverty levels, decrease spending on government assistance, and increase productivity in jobs. If the government raised the minimum wage, then the amount of people in poverty would decline. The poverty line in 2015 was $12,331 a year, only 20 percent below a full time minimum wage worker s annual salary of $15,080 (Should the Federal). As a result, minimum wage citizens can barely meet their living needs. A study completed by the National Low Income Housing Coalition in 2015 said that a worker must earn $15.50 an hour to be able to rent a one bedroom apartment. If someone needed a two bedroom apartment they would need to earn $19.35 an hour (Should the Federal). More people would be able to find adequate housing or their family if minimum wage were to increase. As a result. Less people would be living on the streets. If the minimum wage was raised to $9 an hour, over 300,000 people would be lifted out of poverty. Even better, raising minimum wage to $10.10 an hour would result in over 900,000 people out of poverty (Should the Federal). • 15. The Safety Of A Car Vehicle Most of the automotive companies believe that the next generation of cars are going to be autonomous vehicles, but not all of them have the same opinion about it. Some companies want to bring a fully autonomous car to reality, which wouldn t need any human interaction to drive the car, while other ones are interested in driverless cars, which need humans to drive them. Both autonomous and driverless concepts give cars more control over themselves, and both aim to give more comfort for mankind, thus providing an easier life for drivers and passengers, but the idea of an autonomous car on the roads raises some questions about the safety of it and the responsibility over a car like this. A driverless car can have most of the autonomous features, it just needs someone to drive it, and then the control would also be from a person that would be more watchful and take responsibilities over the car. Ford is going to launch an autonomous car. The company already has a semi autonomous one in market, the Fusion hybrid, and they say that the car is automated, but by automated they mean that it is capable of automated operation under the supervision of a human driver. Ford already have one step in automated driving, and in five years they are going to bring two new innovative features that are going to be essential for self driving cars; one is the fully automated parking that allows the vehicle to park itself with no help from the driver, the driver just have to press a button, then ... The unfamiliar environment leaves family members in severe stress and in a state of shock. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Second step in meeting the needs, is remaining near the patient. The desire to link and maintain familial relationships helps. It brings a family closer while at the same time support is given to the patient. Since being in ICU is an unexpected event, many time family members depend of the nurses to be near the patients. In ICU the nurses have a ratio usually of 1:2. As an intervention to have this need met, tell family members of the flexible visiting hours. Inform them of the visiting hours, timing of visitors, and the visitors permitted. They are informed of the unit routine and patient care needs. The ICU should establish practice guidelines for family visiting that incorporate patient and family needs for proximity, maintain family relationships, and allow family to support the patient (Kirchhoff, Pugh, Calame and Reynold, 1993). Research demonstrates that flexible, inclusive, and open visiting that is responsive to patient, family, and care is beneficial to all parties (Titler, 1998). Receiving information is the third family need. The critical care nurse should assess the knowledge the family has and needs. Let the family members know that it would be best to choose a designated family member to inform everyone of any changes and keep everyone in the family circle informed of the patient s progress. Giving the patients family information will give them a sense of control and help reduce their anxiety. The last needs are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We as a class were constantly doing new activities on the computers, but all that changed this year. Technology was replaced with a special class named Math lab. At first most of our class knew what to think of what this new special would be. Yet after the first class it was obvious what Math Lab was. Math lab was a boring, repetitive, strict class that only minorly strengthens skills in Math that most of both classes already knew. If we do not bring back technology instead of math lab we may not be able to learn computer skills that are needed in High School. If Technology does not come back instead of Math lab we and future 8th graders may not know skills on the computer needed for high school. The city is rich in music makers and music lovers, and you will find up and coming artists, bagpiping locals, and people in bunny costumes playing electric guitar performing at all hours. Because of this, when I was walking through Melbourne Central the other day with a group of friends, I was fairly nonchalant to the young musician sitting near the food court. I saw the man nod politely at the scattered applause of onlookers, before seating himself on one of his own speakers and commanding the food court, which had now become his stage. And I observed him become lost in another world full of melodies and beats we could not hear. I am normally struck by the meaning of a song, the lyrics and how they are delivered. Yet when I met David Knight, a soloist who focuses entirely on his skills playing acoustic guitar, I was able to learn why musicians are so drawn to the instrumental aspect of their work. It was in the hopeful progression of chords, ushering me back to my childhood in Welcome Home, and the intricate way his fingers danced across the frets in With the Wind. As he covered some of his favourite tunes, he placed his own spin on them, having us believe he could have written them through the minute rise and fall of every chord. I normally pass by buskers, but the music of David Knight drew me in like a story begging you to reach the last page. • 21. I Was A Skinny Tomboy Kid According to the poem, I Was a Skinny Tomboy Kid by Alma Luz Villanueva, in order to truly find freedom, one must believe in their own myth , transform their reality , and create a legendary self . The persona believes that the only way to liberty is to portray masculinity and to avoid being weak, like her mother was. As the poem shifts from the past to the present, she realizes that there is much more to identity than pretending to be something she is not. Villanueva s uses literary devices, the expression of freedom, and the transition of verb tenses to prove the power of accepting one s identity. Throughout the poem, the author uses assonance and similes to show how her self appreciation was eluding her grasp. The vowel sound i is heavily repeated, as can be detected when the author writes, Chinese guys (47) and I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At first, the character says with my fists clenched into tight balls (3 4) to describe what she used to be. Later, however, the poem reads my fists are tightly clenched (81). This repetition of clenching fists shows that this poem is a reflection of the past. When the author transitions into present tense, she writes, I coil up in a self/mothering fashion and tell myself it s o.k (84 87). This suggests that she has finally figured out that a motherly or female figure still has great strength. Instead of protecting herself by pretending to be masculine and tough, she understands how much power a female figure holds. This portrays the internal growth she has made as time progressed. At the beginning, she was angry at the world and was indignant at the fact that she was a weak girl. With experience, she was able to embrace her true identity and view the hidden power she always had within her. This transition from the past to the present shows off how one s mind can evolve and learn to accept ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 22. Of Identity And Diversity John Locke In his essay Of Identity and Diversity, Locke talks about the importance of personal identity. The title of his essay gives an idea of his view. Identity, according to Locke, is the memory and self consciousness, and diversity is the faculty to transfer memories across bodies and souls. In order to make his point more understandable, Locke defines man and person. Locke identifies a man as an animal of a certain form and a person as a thinking intelligent being. Furthermore, to Locke, a person has reasons and reflections and can consider itself as being itself in different times and places; and he/she does it with his/her consciousness (429). Basically, personal self is a particular body and personal identity is consciousness. In this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the one hand, if in the past one lived by acting in a good way one hopes to be rewarded in the future. And on the other hand, if one lived by acting in a bad way one fears to be punished in the future. For instance, John acted in a bad way when he was 20, he committed war crimes; hence, he should expect to be punished for his actions. But Locke s analysis is not that simple; according to his definition of personal identity, people should be held responsible for their actions only if they remember doing those actions. Consequently, based on Locke s view, John should not be punished for the war crimes he committed since he does not remember what he did at 20. In this example, Locke does not punish John, who committed terrible war crimes, just because he does not remember. Is Locke s judgment fair to people who committed the same crimes but remember what they did? Or, is his judgment fair to the victim s families? Locke s judgment is only based on whether or not the wrong doer remembers his actions; it does not take into account other important elements; that is one of the reasons why Locke s theory about personal identity has been criticized. Locke s view on personal identity has strengths but it also has several weaknesses or limitations. One important strength is when Locke states that a person should be held responsible for his/her actions if he/she recalls doing those actions. In this case, the person ... Informative Essay On Donald Trump Naomi Benford Thad Prater U.S. Government 124 December 2017Trump epitomizes Abuse of Power The day of November 8th 2016 would be a day that changed the United States forever. This was the day that Donald Trump, a professional and very much so emotional tweeter, was elected as the 45th President of the United States. Commonly known as a business mogul, he is also a reality TV star. A mogul is a very influential and powerful person in a business or industry. Donald Trump stated that he was strongly influenced by his father in his decision to pursue the career of real estate development, despite his degree in economics. Latin America was less developed and America saw South and Central America as perfect candidates to extract resources and sell U.S. goods. The culture of capitalism was on the rise. • 27. The Effect Of Administrative Turnover On Curriculum Essay Joshua Frisch ELAD635 Fall 2016 The Effect of Administrative Turnover on Curriculum Introduction Even while 15 30% of schools in the United States experience administrative turnover each year (Béteille, Kalogrides, Loeb, 2011, p. 3), it is very rare for schools to experience it on a continual basis where it occurs every other year. Yet, this is the case in the school where I work. Over the past 8 years, the school has had four different administrators in charge of the building and district (the district is made up of one K 8 school). Each change in leadership has brought with it a change in educational focus, philosophy, and goals. Though the staff has hailed some changes and hated others, people s major concern is that there has been little to no consistency in curriculum over the past decade, particularly in the elementary classrooms. The purpose of this literature review is to identify the different ways teachers can overcome administrative turnover in order to maintain current curriculum. This review will also identify the optimal amount of time administrators should remain at one school and district in order to positively affect student achievement through curriculum development. Background Because the Moonachie School district consists of one K 8 school, it has a superintendent/principal in charge of all aspects of the district and a director of curriculum who acts more as an assistant principal than a director of curriculum. The ads are harmless as long as we do not sacrifice the important idea that we genuinely want the product and that we are still making the decision to buy it. (2011) from Sinai for isotopic analyses of H and O from open and productive wells tapping three types of aquifers: (1) fractured basement, (2) Nubian Sandstone unconfined aquifer cropping out at the foothills of the basement outcrops, and (3) alluvial. They believed that the unconfined and alluvial aquifers fed by a fractured basement aquifer through discharging into the overlying sediments. The δD and δ18O isotopic compositions of the groundwater samples from the unconfined Nubian Sandstone aquifers in the recharge areas cropping out at the foothills of the basement outcrops are somewhat depleted (δD: 22.7 to 32.8‰; δ18O: 4.47 to 5.22‰) compared to those from fractured basement outcrops (δD: 19.9 to 23.2‰; δ18O: 3.77 to 5.05‰) and those from alluvial aquifers (δD: 22.7 to 23.4‰; δ18O: 4.53 to 5.01‰), but they are less depleted than those reported from the Gulf of Suez (Sturchio et al., 1996). The isotopic compositions of the samples from the fractured basement and alluvial aquifers are similar to those of average modern precipitation from Al Arish and Rafah (Fig. 3). To be honest, I had never really thought about where the world was heading, and if I hadn t read this book, I would ve thought that the United States would remain the main superpower in the world and the rest of the world would sort of stay at their current status. We join him thick in the struggle with a central concern of DJ s composition: the perils of transmission: Pray when I send you a parcel or packet do acknowledge it I care nothing about my letters or your answers I only want to know, when I have taken trouble about a thing that it has arrived. By the time he fired off those impatient words to his publisher John Murray in 1821, Byron had been living abroad and publishing overseas for five years. The transmission of DJ s first two cantos went along similarly improvised, inside lines with the distinction that the bearer of this new cargo of poesy was a only a minor acquaintance of Byron s, the roving Lord Lauderdale, who had no personal link to the lines he carried. The reader of Byron s letters of November 1818 finds many references to Lauderdale wending his way slowly towards London with verse Byron knew would make a big impact. Yet when he delivered DJ, Lauderdale also carried along with it unflattering gossip about Byron s Venetian dissipation. • 39. A Sociological Issue On South Africa In South Africa race took a shift from biology to culture. Because is of its many diverse indigenous groups, race was no longer a difference between Afrikaners and the English but with Zulus, Xhosa and Tswanas. Language was used as a determinant of race. Dubow argues that not much scientifically constructed race has been done in South Africa despite the fact that race has deep seated roots. This is because many dismissed race as being scientific as it began to appear to be a sociological issue. Science was then pushed aside and race was now seen as a social and intellectual construct (Dubow, 1995: 2 5) from natural science to solely social science resulting from everyday experiences. When we say race is a social construct we disregard any possibility of it being that of a scientific one. It is not something that we are born with because of our culture (Erasmus, 2005: 9), instead, simply out, race is a bunch of meanings that we attach to people. We do not dispute the fact that there are differences among people. Those differences just run much deeper. By saying race is a social construct this is not to say that it doesn t exist seeing that it affects our lives; it determines our real life experiences. Saying it is socially constructed means that race is a learnt behaviour and what can be learnt can easily be unlearnt. We say it is constructed because it was used as a basis of division by powerful people who felt superior. Its implications as a construct are still very ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Flight Of Canada And The Different Drummer Decoteau, 1 Genevieve Decoteau Prof. Quincy Flowers ENG 7800 04/27/15 Correlation between the novels The Flight to Canada and The Different Drummer Both of the novels The Flight to Canada by Ishamael Reed and The Different Drummer by Melvin Kelley were powerful and uplifting. The main subject of these two novels are slavery and freedom allowing the characters to search for their identity either spiritually or physically. The Different Drummer is the novel that encourages us to strive and push oneself to make a real difference in life, and stop taking our lives and existence for granted. Both novels detailed the story of the main characters, that were striving to leave their homes for a better life. All in all, both novels clearly illustrates the history of the complicated relationships between the two races: whites and blacks. As depicted in both novels, apart from poor compensation and intimidation, the slaves worked long hours and under pressure. After working on the plants and sugarcane fields, the slaves had to do other duties in a homestead, handling cattle, houses and so forth. The formation of a contract is accomplished when there is an offer and acceptance between the contracting parties of the exchange of consideration, something of value. By giving a ring as promise ring, inviting Emily to Florida any by Emily accepting the ring, both Victoria and Emily entered into a bilateral contract. 0% Issues One key issue for this case is Breach of Contract . By giving the engagement ring and promising to Emily a better life in Florida, and asking her to move to Florida and Emily accepts the ring, a Bilateral contract was created. When Victoria went back on her promise she breached the contract. Also by not mentioning to Emily that she was still married is a clear act of fraud by Victoria. Breach of Contract Both unilateral and bilateral agreements are enforceable in the courts. The agreements change the status of the parties to it. The reverse is possible too. Breach of contract can occur due to many reasons. With the bilateral agreement, both the parties will suffer if the agreement is not fulfilled. It is more of a symbiotic relationship. A breach of engagement to marry is a cause of action in some jurisdiction. Some states have taken the exemption to this. Florida is one of these states. Victoria s promise to marry Emily is treated as a legally binding contract. When a breach is committed to such promise, an action will lie for damages. An action for breach of a promise to marry is predicated upon the proposition that Victoria has breached an existing valid contract to marry. A breach of a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. Analysis Of Tag Along By Tom Ryan Sometimes the most unlikely people can change your life. In the novel Tag Along, by Tom Ryan, we see a group of the most different teenagers team up, whether by fate or by an unusual turn of events, for a wild, one night long adventure. The story changes into the perspective of the four main characters: Andrea, Candace, Paul, and Roemi. At the beginning of the novel, they start out as near strangers all disappointed when their prom goes askew before it even begins, but by the end, after 8 hours of haphazard events, they have formed a strong bond. The characters and the readers alike learn many life lessons, however, all of which root towards the same big meaning, that people are not what you expect them to be. This meaning is emphasised in the story through three components, the narrative point of view, the use of irony, and character development. People will seem different depending on whose eyes are being looked through. This statement can be proved true by the novel. In Tag Along, the author cleverly chose the narrative point of view to be not from the perspective of one protagonist, but of each main character. This bold approach is especially moving and essential given the theme of the story. The readers get to witness each character s first impression of the other characters through their eyes. It is largely poignant due to the fact that true selves of the characters finally seen in the end completely counteract the first impressions that marked them in the ...
