The European Slave Trade
Europeans were looking for a way to trade with china. During this time they managed to stumble
across the americas. At first, europeans just used the americas for its resources. Later they realized
they could take the land. After settling in the americas europeans needed slaves for many reasons.
Portugal started the atlantic slave tradeby shipping african slaves from their trading post in Africa.
The Atlantic slave trade had many causes and effects during the Atlantic world which ends up
changing the new world and the way it develops. Africans were chosen as slaves for the atlantic
slave trade. Europeans had easy access to these people. They went to leaders on the coast of
Africa and traded their trade goods for slaves in return. The leaders had often gotten slaves from
villages within africa. The Europeans then took the africans and shipped them across the Atlantic
to the new world. The slaves could not escape they were easily taken from their villages by their
leaders. They were shipped across the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They were used all across the americas. They had to work on plantations to make it possible to
live and fund the person living there. There was two ways slaves had to do labor: gang labor or
the task system. Gang labor was where slaves had to work whenever it was possible. Slaves who
were in gang labor were overworked and died way faster than any other labor. Europeans made
gang labor happen in places they knew they could make a profit in the time of the slaves lives.
The other labor practice was the task system. Slaves had to do a certain amount of tasks for the
day to keep from getting punished and if they managed to get it done they could do whatever they
wanted in the bounds of slavery. Europeans did this when they wanted the slaves to live longer
and to last longer. The slaves lives were about working in the new world and they were separated
from their rights, family, and country with no way to get

Production And Downsizing Of The Organization
Production and Downsizing There are times when a business is faced with a sudden need increase
its productivity. This can be caused by a boost in popularity of one or more products, or an opening
within the market. The best way to bolster productivity is to assess the current structure of the
organization. The workforce, processes, supply, and goals must all be evaluated. Understanding
where cuts need to be made is often an important factor, as well as knowing if you will be able to
successfully satisfy the demands of the consumers that are awaiting the product. Changing the
structure of the organization into a functional structure would be propitious for the company given
the goals it wishes to achieve. Functional structures are excellent for creating employees with highly
specialized and specific skills, which could certainly be beneficial in a candy company. Having
employees with in depth knowledge of the product can push the company towards further success in
the future. These employees are often considered star employees, which are noted for being fast,
efficient and confident. Specialization leads to operational efficiencies and enhances productivity
levels (Davoren, n.d.). While functional structures have their strengths, the weaknesses are also
important factors to consider. Communication, an undeniably vital aspect of any organization, can
become strained and stalled within functional organizations. Employees can become too focused on
their individual tasks and

Literature Review On Nursing Bedside Report
В· The section entitled literature review relies primarily on studies conducted in the last 5 years.
The literature on nursing bedside report is focused in two general areas. The first focus area is the
process of implementing bedside report, either describing the experiences related to implementation
or explaining how other organizations could implement this change. The second area of focus is
improving the process of bedside report, often through observation and identifying common
themes, or by describing how others may improve their own reporting process.
· The theoretical or conceptual framework is described.

The conceptual framework was the interviews of the patients on their stay in the hospital. The
patient survey had 17 items dealing with the following nurse behaviors treating the patient kindly
and with respect, listening to the patient, informing the patient about their care, teaching so that the
patient could understand, working with other nurses, passing along information from shift to shift,
including the patient in report discussions and keeping the patient s health information private
(Sand Jecklin Sherman 2013).
· Does the literature review provide support for the importance of future study research?

Based on the initial post implementation data, several actions were taken to improve the
consistency of use of the blended shift report format. An Improving Bedside Report tip sheet was
distributed by the research team to all medical surgical

Comparing Poems Salome, Hitcher, On My First Sonne and...
Comparing Poems Salome, Hitcher, On My First Sonne and The Man He Killed The poems,
Salome, Hitcher, On My First Sonne and The Man He Killed all have similar themes. The
menacing and threatening ideas that the poets used are all based around death. However, each
poem has a different perspective on the word with different motives and emotions. The Man He
Killed is about a man who talks of the experience he had of shooting someone and the regrets he
has for it. He feels guilty, as he has no conceivable explanation for shooting the man. He talks of
the similarities he and his foe had such as He thought he d list, perhaps, Off hand like just as I. The

uses the technique of writing in first person and colloquial speaking. He writes about violence in
a very relaxed manner just as the person would have thought without a care in the world . On
My First Sonne is about a Father grieving for the death of his first Son. He believes he has sinned
and that his sin is that he loved his Son too much. This menacing in a way as it is a confusing or
immoral as it is strange too think a man could believe his Son died because he loved him too

would doubtless...do it again . Having woken up with a severed head on the pillow, she cannot

of contemporary details into the poem, such as toast

Nasir And Ghada
The impact that global politics has had on the individuals of the Middle Eastern region is
highlighted in the life experiences of Naji, Nasir, and Ghada. Each person is looking for a better
tomorrow, but that is not easy to find due to the difficulties that arise in the differences in religion,
culture, and even gender. Naji endured the struggles of being Jewish, Nasir had to deal with being a
young man with slim job opportunities, and Ghada had to deal with the struggles of being a
woman. Although each faced a slightly different problem, the one thing they had in common was
their fight to survive.
Plagued by war and conflict in the region, the three individuals showcased started with relatively
satisfactory lives that quickly eroded as time went by. In the case of Dr.... Show more content on

Being a woman in an already constrained society led to many problems, to the point where Ghada
felt her only escape was to stab a soldier. Although unsuccessful, Ghada s desperate attempt
displays the burdens placed on Palestinian women and the realities of what they must deal with
everyday under Israeli control. Ghada was forced to stay in an unhappy marriage with her cousin,
whose mother she did not get along with. This relationship was also strained by the fact that she
was separated from her family by a border controlled by the Israelis. Ghada s options for a
successful divorce were limited in the sense that if she requested the separation, she would have
to give up the second half of her dowry, which would have a negative financial consequence for
herself and her family. Along with that, her reputation would be tarnished in the village, which
would make it very difficult for Ghada to make it on her own. All of these consequences of a
female initiated divorce offers an insight to how women are regarded in the modern Middle East.
They are restricted in all aspects of life, whether it is socially or economically, by their communities

Disadvantages Of 5s
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1Introduction
In recent years, the practice of 5S is basically used among the Japanese firms in order to enhance
human capability and productivity of the outputs. 5S is one of the TQM (Total Quality
Management) tools and was firstly introduced at companies in Japan in the early 1980s by Takashi
Osada, it is believed that applying the 5S techniques could considerably raise the environmental
performance in production line including housekeeping, health, safety and so on. The 5S is the
acronym of five Japanese words which stands for seiri (organization), seiton (neatness), seiso
(cleanliness), seiketsu (standardization) and shitsuke (discipline) (Sui Pheng and Khoo, 2001).

1.4Research Objectives
Research objectives are to provide specific focus direction to the research. It must be well thought
out and the objectives must be related to the problem that has already been defined (Hazman, 2012).
There are many practices in the world to improve the quality of products or services and
performance of organizations, but generally organizations looking for the best practice to
implement and utilize for achieving their organizational goals and objectives easier, sooner and use

Puritans In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter
In Nathaniel Hawthorne s, The Scarlet Letter, the Puritans are depicted as a sad and uniform group
of people. Hawthorne never explicitly states his negative views towards the Puritans, rather he
chooses to imply these views through his diction, color symbolism, comparing and contrasting, and
his use of irony. In the first chapter, Hawthorne describes the Puritans as, a throng of bearded men,
in sad colored garments and gray, steeple crowned hats, intermixed with women, some wearing
hoods... (55). Hawthorne, using the color gray, portrays the Puritans as depressing and rigid people.
The color gray is often used to represent people with sangfroid and is also associated with
conformity. Gray also has a subduing effect on other colors in the same way that the Puritans try to
control Hester s heterodox behavior. By depicting the men and women as indistinguishable,
Hawthorne further criticizes the Puritan uniformity and attempt to hide human nature. As a
Romantic, Hawthorne believed that nature was superior to society and in nature nothing is
uniform, so when the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The townspeople revere Dimmesdale for his outward piety but fail to recognize his secret sin.
Hawthorne portrays the Puritans as shallow with only an understanding of outwardly appearances.
Hawthorne also implies that the Puritans are misguided in believing that imperfect people can and
should be perfect. He also uses irony when the Puritans interpret the great red letter in the sky... for
Angel (153). The letter A was previously given to Hester with the putative meaning of adulteress,
now Hawthorne gives the scarlet letter to Dimmesdale. Yet the Puritans are naive to the truth of
Dimmesdale s sin even when shown evidence. From the evidence above, it can be inferred that
Hawthorne abhors the Puritans, he implies this through color symbolism, comparing and
contrasting, and irony through his diction in the text.

Research Paper On Psoriasis
PSORIASIS AS A SYSTEMIC INFLAMMATORY DISEASE:
There is increasing awareness that psoriasis as a disease is more than skin deep and that it has
important systemic manifestations that are shared with other chronic inflammatory diseases, such
as Crohn s disease and diabetes mellitus. The shared conditions include the metabolic syndrome,
depression, and cancer.3 It is unclear whether cancer, particularly lymphoma and skin cancer, is
related to the disease or its treatment (Gelfand et al., 2006).
An associated arthropathy, psoriatic arthritis, has features in common with psoriasis but is
considered to be a distinct disease entity with a distinct therapeutic spectrum (Ravindran et al.,
2008). Of emerging significance is the relationship ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also it serves as a model for studies of mechanisms of chronic inflammation. In addition it is
increasingly a first choice disease indication for studies of new pathogenesis based therapeutic
strategies. The relevance of cutaneous versus systemic factors, and the role of genetic versus

2008).
Alefacept and Efalizumab, the first T cell targeted biologic agents, have confirmed the concept of
a role of T cells in established inflammatory disease. However, there are multiple problems,
including long term efficacy, relapse after drug withdrawal, safety, and costs, are driving the search
for new and better therapies(Leonardi et al., 2008).
However, the long term safety of biologic agents is an unresolved issue and will be addressed in a
satisfactory manner only if there is optimal use of and investment in post marketing surveillance of
these drugs, including the development of comprehensive registries of biologic drugs (Gladman et

Motherhood Stereotypes
The Market on Motherhood: How Stereotypes and Statistics Perpetuate Labour Market Inequality
Homo heterosexual wage differentials could also arise from the discriminatory consequences of
profiling, or statistical discrimination. Statistical discrimination occurs when an individual is
treated on the basis of their membership of a group racial, sexual, socioeconomical, or otherwise
and knowledge of that group s average characteristics. Thus, unless there is evidence which suggests
otherwise, an individual is considered as the average person of the group to which they belong. In
its essence, statistical discrimination is an efficient solution to an incomplete information problem,
occurring only when employers possess limited information about the true productivity of job
applicants, and have to rely on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Working mothers are a regular target for statistical discrimination and motherhood, linked with a
per child wage penalty of approximately 5%, (Correll, Benard, Paik, 2007), is widely understood to
be one of the worst career moves a woman can make (Miller, 2014). Mothers are frequently
perceived as less competent employees, are thought to be less committed to their jobs, and are
more likely to receive wage, hiring, and promotional penalties for having children (Correll,
Benard, Paik, 2007). Contemporary norms only worsen the current situation: as women are
socialised to prioritise caregiving and childrearing over their careers, employers become more
and more hesitant to hire them, since they predict that they will be less likely to honour
workplace commitments and more prone to leaving their jobs in the future (Schneebaum, 2013).
The opposite is true for men: most fathers are perceived as stable, reliable, and dedicated
employees largely because employers expect them to be less flaky (Miller, 2014)

The Case Of The Palm Island Death
The well known case of the Palm Island death in custody in 2004, refers to the tragic death of
Cameron Doomadgee, who is also referred to in most legal and media documents by his tribal
name, Mulrunji. Mulrunji died on the 19th November, 2004 after being taken into custody by
Senior Sergeant Christopher Hurley to the Palm Island watch house (Hurley v. Clements Ors
(2008). The grounds for his arrest according to the court documents, was for being a public
nuisance after swearing at PoliceLiaison Officer, Lloyd Bengaroo. Mulrinji was intoxicated at the
time of his arrest, with post mortem results showing a blood alcohol concentration of 0.292%
(Hurley v. Clements Ors (2008). The lengthy legal battle that ensued was attempting to... Show

The court documents state that if the matter of swearing had proceeded to prosecution, whether the
swearing had actually occurred would have been brought into question (Hurley v. Clements Ors
(2008). Queensland statistics show that 2,792 Indigenous Australians were arrested for public order
offences for the year 2015 2016, compared with 5,991 for non Indigenous Australians. This is
rather alarming given that only four per cent of people aged over ten years old identify as
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander in Queensland (ABS, 2017). The Australian Bureau of
Statistics reports the age standardised offender rates per 100,000 for persons over the age of ten
identifying as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander for 2015 2016 is 9,576 compared with 1,882 for
non Indigenous Australians (ABS, 2017). Information in the court documents indicate that Mulrunji
became agitated after being arrested, becoming violent once arriving at the police station and
subsequently assaulting Senior Sergeant Hurley while being taken from the paddy wagon into the
police station. Senior Sergeant Hurley s discretionary decision to arrest Mulrunji for a public
nuisance offence had dire consequences resulting in a violent altercation and a subsequent death. It
is an unfortunate reality that Indigenous Australians are over represented in our criminal justice
system and are being arrested at disproportionate rates compared to non Indigenous

Canada s Prime Minister And His Fundamental Culture Of Power
Canada s Prime minister and his fundamental culture of power have increased dramatically over the
last few decades. In the political spectrum power can be seen as authority held by a variety of
individuals that constitutionalize a governing society. In Canada this power is divided into various
separate branches of political institutions. The handling of power and distinction of these roles is
determined through foundations that include the Legislative branch, the executive branch, the
bureaucracy, and judiciary branch. Canadais a fusion of the British parliamentary system with
American federalism. In Canada the Prime ministerholds the highest role in parliament. Although
these branches of parliament are meant to divide and generally secure power from one another, in
recent years the transformation has been focused on the majority party at the heart of the
government, or per say the
Prime Minister. The Prime minister and his advisers have the authority to appoint ministers and
pass legislature which over time has caused the reduction of the role of the crown. This paper will
outline how the Prime minister is in fact dominant through centralized power and his ability to
manipulate the system by appointing ministers loyal to his biding, and his ability to remain
unaccountable to the House of Commons. First analyzing how the role of Cabinet over time has
shifted into the hands of the PM and the central party. This will give a better understanding as to

Rock candy is a simple scientific experiment made at home from sugar and water. Rock candy can
be made up of different types of sugar. I used pure cane granulated sugar. Rock candy is formed
when sugar is dissolved in boiling water and is cooled and placed in a glass jar with the wooden
skewer. When the water evaporates the sugar crystal will start to grow overtime. The water and
sugar is a saturated solution, meaning that water could only hold sugar if both were very hot. By
cooling the water, the sugar comes out of the solution and forms crystals on the skewer and
around the glass. The hypothesis for my experiment was that the more sugar you use the more
crystals will form. My question is if you add more sugar, will more crystals?
Experimental Procedure Question: If you add more sugar will more crystals form? Hypothesis: If I
add more sugar to the same amount of boiling water, it will grow more crystals. Materials:
Observation 1; 1 cup of water, 2 cups of sugar, 1 glass jar, 1 wooden skewer, 1 plate and 2

Andrew Jackson Was A Leader
Introduction Andrew Jackson was a leader. He was a leader on the battlefront, a leader in office
and a leader in his beliefs. Jackson had certain fundamental beliefs that shaped him as a person
and would be the foundation for which he would rule the country. He stood by those beliefs and
fought for what he saw as the right way. During his life, Jackson would fight many battles and
tackle many fundamental opponents. Here, the topic brings into focus one area of importance to
Jackson, the national bank, and individual states rights, as well as some the opponents he faced
during only a few of the many issues he would take on during his lifetime. A few years into his

Biddle then stated that the Bank would spear head one of Jackson s personal causes by
intending to pay off the National debt, in Jackson s honor. The offer came with the condition
that the Bank would be granted a charter extension. Biddle also began to offer loans and
financial favors to Jackson s friends and backers, proving to Jacksons that his initial thoughts
were correct in thinking that the Bank could play to the political policies and involve themselves
in political processes. (Warshauer) Biddle took Jackson by surprise when he asked for a re
charter four years before their current charter expired, which also happened to be an election year.
Biddle played on the belief that he could force Jackson s hand out of fear from causing an election
issue in the upcoming voting. Biddle was incorrect. (Warshauer) The re charter bill went on the
Senate floor in March and was graciously met with much support. Jackson issued a veto that would
try not to anger the public and in return, not cost the Democrats support in the fall election. Jackson
s veto played off of the stockholding policies of foreign citizens and the questions the Bank s
monopoly, which brought up questions about the Constitutional laws that it might infringe upon.
Jackson argued that its favoritism went against the role of a government that should stand for
honesty, equality, and fairness. Congress tried

Homer s Iliad And Thucydides s History Of The...
Homer s Iliad and Thucydides History of the Peloponnesian War ask if death and philotД“s can exist
simultaneously. In the respective texts, that which Achilles and the Athenians encounter prove they
will not exist in harmony for human nature is incapable of controlling passion and the enemy of
anything superior (HPW 3.84). When Achillesdoes not receive his earned honor after battle and
death s toll from the war blurs the Athenians identity, their grief causes apathy. Achilles withdraws
from his own people with a rage, black and murderous causing his own army to buckle which

Ultimately, all Achilles has left is death, and all surrounding Athens is death.
In death s atrocity, Achilles and the Athenians turn towards their self interests in hopes to regain
control and dignity. Achilles withdraws from the army in hopes they will recognize his worth,
thus restoring honor to him. The Greeks were stricken with unendurable grief yet his proud
spirit kept him from letting go of his anger. (Il. 9.4, 259). His inability to understand his
mortality and resulting lack of philotД“s pitched countless souls of heroes into Hades dark (Il.
1.3 4). Falling into fits of self pity, Achilles is unable to recognize others sufferings, even of his
own people. He complains to his mother that Agamemnon has taken away [his] prize and
dishonored him and playing a lyre by the shore, away from the war displaying death s reality (Il.
1.370). In his isolating mД“nis, Achilles hardens into an apathetic death like figure. Similarly, the
Athenians begin to lack pity as their city turned towards unprecedented lawlessness,... acts of self
indulgence, and immorality during the plague (HPW 2.53). The Athenians even abandon their
own people in fear of falling ill as well. Their civilization reveals it shallow nature as they result to

Conducting The HRDNI
It is important to remember when conducting the HRDNI, that there are three forces that
investigators must be aware of:
1.Organisational politics
2.Espoused theory; and
3.Organisational defence mechanisms.
In the case of RNC, staff have not been provided with adequate support or training to be able to
develop the necessary skills to perform duties to the required standard. Organisations that
understand the importance of having a committed and capable workforce helps the organisation
achieve their strategic goals and. Implementation of organisational learning processes and human

As part of the HRDNI process, learning development and training opportunities support the
organisation achieving the organisations strategies as it can help to improve organisational, team
and individual performance ( Armstorng and Baron 2002 cited in Neale 2004).
6.Define the learning outcomes and learning objectives
It is important to remember that the HRDNI should be future focused, positive and linked to
competencies and qualifications that are required to perform the functions of the job to the highest
standard. In this instance, administrative staff need to be familiar with the office suite of products
and also outlook and general office management. The manager and coordinator, require skills at
diploma or higher level so that they have a comprehensive understanding of the positions and how
to perform the functions required of them.
HRDNI report needs to document carefully and completely the HRDNI report issues. They should
be presented as a hierarchy of outcomes and associated objectives to assist the HRD to design the
learning experience later on (Delahaye 2011). If qualifications are needed, these need to be
described fully and linked to the Australian Quality Training

Leading By Examples
Leading by example is no fictional idea. Vocabulary.com describes a leader as the one in charge,
the person who convinces other people to follow (Leader). Examples of leadership are shown all
through history, sports, and even in school districts. Famous protesters and leaders in history
made a difference when they led by example, the coach of a sports team is necessary for that team
s success, and groups like Student Council are all examples of leadership. There is leadership
everywhere, and far off from being an idea of fiction; it is a reality.
History has many great leaders that lead as an example for others. Mahatma Gandhi was maybe
the greatest example of leadership in history. Gandhi was thrown off of a train due to his racial
background and he felt like he had to do something about it. Gandhi decided to stand up and
organized the Indian community to help him with non violent protest. He stood up for what he
believed in and lead everyone who agreed with him. One man, in particular, followed in what

Fahrenheit 451 Personal Response Essay
One of the phrases that I chose to include on the poster is, THE FOOLISH. I chose this phrase
because that is how the general population is perceived in this book. They easily believe what is
told to them and follow the orders of anyone, making them very gullible. Society, at this point,
does not really have any individuality. They follow the group opinion and no longer come up with
ideas of their own. So, THE FOOLISH is the main descriptor of society, or the antagonist, Another
wordthat I chose to include is, REMEMBER. This word was chosen because it was the duty of
the protagonist, Montag, to remember his part of the story. It was vital for him to do so because it
was the only way that the bookswere going to survive throughout the war. Montag really struggled
with this job because he could never really quite comprehend what was going on, until he
absolutely needed it. In addition to that, I chose the word, DEPRESSION. This word was chosen...

This phase was chosen because throughout the book Montag felt a kind of big brother presence
watching him. An example of this is when the hound is sent to sniff around his house after they
knew that he had books. Also, Beatty constantly knew about what Montag was doing, which made
him very nervous and swayed some of his decisions. This was important because it affected how
the reader viewed the society as a whole. MANIPULATION was also an important word added to
my project. Manipulation was used very often throughout the story, especially with the character
Beatty. Beatty often used long, drawn out sentences with a lot of references to confuse Montag and
change his opinion on the situation. In fact, Beatty s entire role in the book was to manipulate
Montag into believing the things that society did at that time. It had a huge impact on the plotline
that was completely necessary for the story to turn out the way it did, which is why it was

National Debt Is Not Always A Bad Thing
When I first thought of national debt I thought about only the cons and disadvantages of having it.
I never gave thought as to what the advantages of having it may be. National debt is the amount
of money the federal government owes to lenders outside of itself. When the Treasury borrows
funds, it issues Treasury bonds; these are IOUs of the federal government. In other words, the
national debt is a stock of IOUs created by annual deficitflows. (Schiller 261) With the help of
research and my economics class, I have learned that having national debt is not always a bad
thing. For example, the financial crisis of 2008 2009 and the effects it had on the economy and
people was horrible. However, I learned that if it weren t for the increase in government borrowing
by bailing out banks and financial markets, the banks and financial markets could have froze and
that would have thrown us into a Great Depression type run on banks. If the government uses its
debt the right way, then it will allow the government to do things that it couldn t really do before. I
believe investing that debt instead of spending it would be the wiser choice. The government
sometimes spends money so that consumers will have money but they just end up spending it. This
is just a way for the government to stimulate spending at that moment. That s just a short term
benefit. Therefore, by investing its debt in things such as medical and technological research and
education will create a long term

The Arthropod Phylum
Woodlice are members of the Arthropod phylum and are known as terrestrial isopods, a group
which has a segmented body with jointed limbs attached to a rigid exoskeleton (Paoletti and
Hassall, 1999; Sutton, 2013). They tend to be between 1.2mm and 30mm in size and are a dark
brown or slatey colour (Paoletti and Hassall, 1999; Sutton, 2013). Woodlice are soil detritivores
and are important decomposers of leaf litter as they utilise around 10% of annual leaf litter, which
potentially can increase the surface of leaf litter available to microorganisms for further
decomposition by a factor of four (Souty Grosset et al., 2005). The most common habitat for
woodlice is within damp, dark conditions, under rocks or within rotting wood (Sutton,... Show more

For this experiment, one woodlice was placed in a maze and was forced to go left or right by
placing Perspex blocks to obstruct the opposite turn to that chosen: this forced turn and the next
freely chosen turn the woodlice made were recorded. The experiment was then repeated with 14
other woodlice; however, to avoid any of the woodlice following the path of the previous
subject, for each new woodlouse the maze was randomly reorganised and the initial forced left
or right turn was alternated. The third experiment was to investigate if the woodlice responded
to conspecific odour. This experiment used a Y maze that had gentle streams of humid air
passing over paper which had been exposed to other woodlice for a few days. The direction of
travel chosen by the woodlouse when it reached the Y junction, and its speed of movement in
mm /second were recorded. This experiment was then repeated 5 times, but after each run the
exposed filter paper was replaced. The results of all experiments were recorded and the data

Introduction Of Finolex Cables Limited
INTRODUCTION
Finolex Cables Limited (hereinafter referred to as Finolex or the Company ) started as a retail
store selling electrical cables by two brothers P.P Chhabria and K. P Chabbria in July 1945 soon
turned into a manufacturing unit of cables after receiving a sizeable order from the Defence
Department in mid 1950 s for wire harnesses for trucks and tanks.
Starting from a small industrial unit in 1956, they at first manufactured PVC insulated cables for
the automobile industry. Finolex brand was born from Fine Flexibles and O with an electric arc
across it signifying the electrical cable business the company was in. The company saw its own
share of difficult times however with its persistent efforts and never give up attitude, the company
in 1972 turned into a limited company.
In July 1983, Finolex embarked on a continuous process of expansion and modernization, which
enabled it to become the most diversified largest cable manufacturer in the country.
In 1981, Finolex Industries Limited (FIL) was established. The company was primarily established
to manufacture Rigid PVC Pipes and Fittings at Pune, which were majorly used in the agriculture
sector.
The early nineties saw the Finolex Group expanding into new business domains to manufacture
Optic Fibre Cables and Copper Rods.

Informative Essay On Padg Water
PadВ·dle
Paddling. To paddle. PadВ·dle. /Л€Padl/. This verb is the present tense of paddling, meaning to
move through the water in a boat using a paddle. There are different variations of paddling, such
as, canoe, kayak, rafting, rowing, and surfing. Paddling can be applied to multiple activities in
different locations, therefore the emphasis will be on canoe paddling in Hawaii.
To illustrate the commonality of paddling in present day living, I ve paddled for both, school
and summer club regatta, over the past four years. There are many different associations within
Hawaii alone, such as, OHCRA, MCHCA, Hui Wa a, HHSAA, and etc. Hui Wa a is similar to the
public schools during the school season, and their summer clubs typically have the public school
students. However, OHCRA, most often has the private school students, or the better public school
paddlers who are sponsored, or pay a tremendous fee in order to just participate within that
association. There is a wide variety of paddlers across the nation, which exemplifies the diversity
within the sport, and how greatly it has impacted not only native Hawaiians, but other people and
cultures.

The Reasons for the Hostility Between Austria Hungary and Serbia During 1878 and 1914
Between 1878 and 1914, there was generally a lot of hostility in the Balkans this was mainly due to
the weakening Ottoman Empire, this allowed countries within it to start to fight for independence
and the greater powers surrounding it to try and take over parts of it.
After the Treaty of Berlin, 1878, Austria Hungary was given the right to occupy and administer the
Ottoman province of Bosnia Herzegovina. In 1908, after growing fears of Serbia and Russia
becoming stronger, Austria Hungary annexed Bosnia Herzegovina. This angered the Serbsbecause

The results of the first Balkan War in 1912 were another cause of hostility between the two
countries. As a result of this war Serbia had gained control of the Adriatic coastline, and had also
taken over Albania. Austria Hungary resented and feared the sudden growth of Serbia and
wanted Serbia to give up both the Adriatic coast and Albania. Russia however supported the
Serbs, and he and Austria Hungary mobilised their troops against one another. A peace treaty was
drawn up and by May 1913 the Treaty of London was signed. In this treaty Serbia lost control of
the Adriatic coast and Albania was made an independent state, however they did gain control of
central and northern Macedonia. They felt this was inadequate and blamed Austria Hungary for
their loss of land. This was a significant factor in the hostility between the two sides as it made
Austria Hungary fear Serbian growth and angered Serbia as they felt that whenever they made
gains of land in the Balkans the Austrians would thwart it.
The results of the second Balkan war were also key factors in the hostility between the two
countries. In 1913 Serbia and Greece went to war with Bulgaria to win land they thought they
deserved after the first war. Bulgaria was defeated and in the Treaty of Bucharest Serbia and
Greece got to keep those parts of Macedonia they had captured. The Serbs then went on to

Descartes Mind and Body
Descartes Mind Body Dualism
Rene Descartes main purpose is to attempt to prove that the mind that is the soul or the thinking
thing is distinct and is separate from the body. This thinking thing was the core of himself, which
doubts, believes, reasons, feels and thinks. Descartes considers the body to be an extended
unthinking thing; therefore it is possible that one may exist without the other. This view is known
as mind body dualism. He believes that what he is thinking in his mind is what God created and
instilled in him. Descartes outlines many arguments to support and prove his claims of his
discoveries. He states that because he can think, his mind exists. This is known as the Cogito,
which is the first existential principal of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It does not rule out other possibilities, such as waking up to find oneself to be not a human but a
different form of life. Therefore the statement of the body is too broad to specifically identify as
being in human form. Also, it should be noted that the Cogito only works for the thought. It
cannot be used in a sense that, I can walk or sleep therefore I exist since I can doubt these actions
carried out by the body. The reason why a person cannot doubt itself is because the doubt is in a
form of a thought in ones mind, not an action of our body.
Descartes discusses that physical objects are more known distinctly through the mind than
through the body and explains his reason further in the Wax Argument. The Wax Argument
describes how Descartes wanted to show that we come to know things using the intellectual
parts of our brain rather than through our senses. Basically, Descartes is trying to prove that we
know the mind truly better than anything else, like our bodies and the world outside of the
mind. This argument begins by describing the process of change by which solid wax melts until
it has changed its phase of matter to form a liquid puddle. Descartes describes the wax uses his
senses as he says, Its color, shape, and size are manifest. It is hard and cold; it is easy to touch. If
you wrap it with your knuckle it will emit a sound. In short, everything is present in that it appears

Questions On Religion And Religion Essay
1. Orthodoxy is placing the importance on correct belief rather than correct practice. An example
of this would be Christianity where to be a disciple there are certain beliefs that aren t optional.
These beliefs include the Trinity, Jesus as the Son of God, and the Resurrection.
2. Orthopraxy is placing the importance on correct practice rather than correct belief. An example
of this would be Judaism where the acts you do hold great value. These practices include Shabbat
and keeping the Sabbath. The practice of keeping kosher is stricter within Orthodox Judaism than
within Conservative or Reform Judaism but all three fall under orthopraxy.
3. Polytheism is the belief in more than one god whereas monotheism is the belief in only one god.
There are many examples of polytheistic religions such as Druids (ГЂr nDraГocht FГ©in or the
Order of Bards, Ovates, Druids) which cover multiple pantheons depending on which culture you

4. The two types of agnostic are weak and strong agnosticism. While one is unsure of whether or

god, but they differ on whether or not they believe they can find and know said god.

1.2Diversified into Bottles, Lodging, and Mineral Water in Early 20th Century
After Frederick Mead died in August 1915, John Stroyan, who succeeded Sydney Chambers a few
months earlier, became the most important figure in SAB management. Stroyan faced a serious
challenge the following year when hostilities during World War I interrupted the supply of bottles
to South Africa. SAB decided to establish its own bottle making plants in 1917. Actual production,
however, did not begin until 1919, the year the war ended.
Another economic depression beset South Africa after World War I, but steady growth in the
demand for beer reduced many of the detrimental effects of the depression. SAB was financially
strong enough in 1921 to purchase the Grand Hotel in Cape Town, an important addition to the
company s lodging business. SAB gained an interest in the mineral water business in 1925, when it
purchased a substantial interest in the Schweppes Company.
The Great Depression of the early 1930s had little effect on the South African brewing industry;
SAB continued to expand its operations and improve its facilities. The company s biggest

I ve got high hopes for this season, I really believe that we can push a lot of teams this year; the

Among that group of young players is Brock Lamb, who broke out last year as a rising star
punching above his weight in terms of responsibility for a 20 year old.
He shouldered that responsibility incredibly well, but his future at the club is uncertain with the

In a situation that seems identical to Cronk wanting Pearce to stay at the Roosters, the latter hopes

The Scopes Monkey Trial
Ever since science began to explain the previously unexplainable, it has caused conflicts with
religion. The Scopes Monkey Trial of Dayton, Tennessee was one of the most talked about trials in
history because it was one of the first and most publicized times that this conflict occurred. The trial
showed the schism between the faithful fundamentalists and the newly formed group of
evolutionists. Although the jury was reminded that they only had to decide if Scopes had broken
the law, the verdict was seen as much more than that. For one of the first times in history, it seemed
as if the jury had to choose either religion or evolution. For the time being, there could not be both.

That May, the American Civil Liberties Union put an ad in the newspaper looking for a teacher to
challenge the law. John Scopes was asked to volunteer, and he agreed. The trial involved attorneys
William Jennings Bryan and Clarence Darrow and lasted over a week, the courtroom constantly
overflowing with people and the witness examinations including many heated debates. (Adams)
The case, meant to decide if Scopes broke the law, diverged from its original intention as the
witnesses began to speak about the constitutionality of the law, questioning the legitimacy of the
Bible. One of the most well known of these examinations was the questioning of Bryan by
Darrow about the book of Genesis. After initially contending, Everything in the Bible should be
accepted as it is given there, Bryan finally conceded that the words of the Bible should not
always be taken literally (UMKC School of Law). The final decision stated that Scopes was guilty
of breaking the law and was fined $100. While this was seen as a win for fundamentalists, it was
not the end of the battle. In retrospect... Scopes forged a temporary break, not a full scale retreat, in
the fundamentalist assault on modernist thought (Gillon 171).
Starting with the Scopes Trial, many more cases have occurred concerning the teaching of

Edgar Allan Poe s A Descent Into The Maelstrom
In Edgar Allan Poe s A Descent into the Maelstrom, the power of nature is underestimated. Aspects
of the natural world are depicted in an extreme, otherworldly and almost unfathomable form, and
serve as indicators for a journey into a world that is within nature, but simultaneously borders on the
supernatural. Common elements of the natural world are intensified and serve as symbolic, rather
than everyday elements. Their exaggerated forms signify a break from a more familiar, assumed
understanding of nature, which man thought he could predict and control, to a more powerful
force. The protagonist in A Descent into the Maelstrom attempts to use reasoning and science to
prepare to map out nature s workings, which proves to be unreliable as he encounters natural forces
that surround supernatural events. The end result is that a reliance on the principles of science and
reason are exchanged for a renewed understanding of the powerful role of nature and its relation
with the cosmic. Through the sailor s changed perspective after encountering the maelstrom, the
reader is able to see the relationship between the nature of the cosmos and man s place in it. It is
through the comparative theme of the cosmic versus the small that Poe challenges the favored
prevalence of scientific thinking that stemmed from the Enlightenment. In a time where the
complexities of religion and nature were being overwhelmed by a preference for scientific
explanation and thought, Poe challenges that

What Things Occurred During The European Renaissance
The European Renaissance was a new time and age, where many new inventions were made and
many famous people were born.
Although the Renaissance was a good time for most, a good majority of people still didn t feel the
effects that the more wealthy people did. As you read I will explain some of the things that
occurred during the Renaissance. As you read I will explain some of the things that occurred during
the Renaissance. The Renaissance was a major time for exporting and importing goods. The city

played a key part in the trading business. Having loans meant more ships could be built, and

and Venice were in the constant fight for control over major trading ports. Control over a port
meant that you control what came in and what went including ships. In the end, both Genoa and
Venice signed the peace of Turin. The peace of Turin was made to end the war between Genoa
and Venice. The war between Genoa and Venice cost enormous amounts of money. Venice being
affected the most so small agreements were met between Genoa and the other countries the war.
As I learned about Genoa I realized that life still wasn t that great for most people during the

Grendel And Saddam Hussein
At the end of Saddam Hussein rein over Iraq he had killed thousands of innocent civilians of his
own country. Hussein was the leader of Iraq for 24 years he had killed over 5,000 innocent
people. Hussein believed that God put him on this earth to become the president of Iraq and to
help educate the children of his country. Saddam Hussein and Grendel from the book of Beowulf
are similar because they both had the ability to kill a large number of people at one time, they
also believed that their killings were for a good reason, and after their killings they would go to a
hideout or their homes, and both of the monsters were very quick with their thoughts of killing.

So, whenever Grendel would kill people he would be able to just say that it was his job to
commit that crime and nothing is wrong with that but people didn t care because he was given
this job by the devil. In an interview with Saddam Hussein he states that The chemical attacks on
the kurdish town was not worth any serious criminal charges (Military). The reason he said this
was because the town was suspected of slandering his presidency and not following his laws.
Unlike Grendel people actually believed the attack was actually justified since in the country of
Iraq slandering your president is against the law and is punishable by death. Later on it was
found out that there was no evidence of any crime being committed and Hussein was later
charged for the attack. A difference between the two monsters would be that Saddam Hussein
was able to make other people believe that the attack was justified until no evidence was found.
And when Grendel would try to make an excuse for his attacks nobody would really care and
would see right through the excuse and say that it was just cold blooded murder. Another way that
Grendel and Hussein are similar is that after all their attacks they would go back to their homes or
hideouts and wait till their next attack. In Beowulf it states The blood dripping behind him, back to
his lair (Beowulf 139 140). This

The Writings Of Karl Marx
Allison Bierman

December 11, 2014
Final Paper: Question #9 The writings of Karl Marx, Max Weber, and Emile Durkheim each set
out to discuss how an individual is connected to their social standing within society. Along with
how social classes form their beginnings. Each of their theories are complex and require thorough
analysis in order to fully understand their point of view. How social class is obtained in the United
States is the question being posed. I will discuss which theory I personally think is best and
most applicable to our modern society. I will thoroughly compare and contrast the works of
Marx, Weber, and Durkheim; along with pointing out strengths and weaknesses in all three. It is
first important to understand the meaning of social class. Sociologically speaking, the term
social class is a way to divide individuals based upon their economic and social standing within
the larger system of economic production. In the United States, the five most common social
classes include: upper class elite, upper middle class, lower middle class, working class, and poor.
It is assumed that the more money one has, the higher their class status will be however there is
always the possibility for outliers. Social class controls several aspects of our lives and is an
extremely important factor when determining potential opportunities. Karl Marx is a sociological
theorist who had great influence over how we currently look at social class. According to Marx,

Drones Thesis Statement
Drones are now in much more parts of the world and are being discussed all about all over the
world. Some may think drones are bad and should not be used while others think that they have a
very positive effect. In this essay I will describe to you all the different reasons why drones should
be kept. Drones should be kept commercially and militarily.
Drones are playing an increasingly important role in warfare around the world. This was stated
by Warren, Stephan. Drones save a ton of soldier s life when they fight during combat. My
interpretation is that every single soldier s life is a plus into keeping the country safe. The more
soldiers in a country the better it is for the country to be kept safe. This statement refers back to my

of recording. The Drones should be kept for a number of reasons and the positives outweigh the
negatives by a large amount. Every single point that has been stated above has been scientifically
proven and I stated my interpretation. So these reasons are not only things that i personally think
but are also things that have been proven by science. So these reasons are significant enough to

Homeland
Caught Between Cultures
Gloria AnzaldГєa s The Homeland, AztlГЎn / El Otro MГ©xico, explores the political and social
impact of creating borders between places and their residents. Through use of her unique and
diverse writing style, AnzaldГєa is able to capture the struggle faced by displaced Mexicans and
their posterity. Not only is she able to accurately portray their hardships, but she is also able to
alienate her white audience by using both English and Spanish. This is done in a way that provides
some insight into the cultural barriers that Mexican Americans encounter. Her use of historical
context illuminates the injustice that these people were subject to, while her incorporation of

This piece incorporates a unique blend of both English and Spanish. This interesting and
different approach serves a very specific purpose. It is done in order to show white readers what
it is like for non English speakers to live in America. The discomfort and awkwardness that
readers feel as they struggle to pronounce and understand these words, mimics the experience of
non English speakers living in America. Con el destierro y el exilio fuimos desuГ±ados,
destroncados, destripados we were jerked out by the roots, truncated, disemboweled, dispossessed
and separated from our identity and our history (AnzaldГєa 45). Sentences like these are
implemented in the text to alienate the reader, just like Mexicans in America feel alienated by the
language and culture that is so unlike their own. Reading this short essay is not enough to capture
the culture shock experienced by those who cross the border, but it subjects the reader to one aspect
of the difficult transition. The use of Spanish also serves another purpose. The vast majority of
white audience members are unable to understand the Spanish that AnzaldГєa utilizes. This
illustrates the white audience s inability to conceptualize the adversity that these people have
endured. However, members of the Mexican American community that have undergone the process
of assimilation, can comprehend the combination of English and Spanish, the same way they are

How Has Basketball Changed Over The Years
Basketball has been played all around the world and there are many different rules and
regulations when playing this sport. Basketball has many different levels of experience. There is a
level at the fifth and sixth grade level, the seventh and eighth grade level, the junior varsity level,
the varsity level in high school, the college level, and the professional level or National Basketball
Association (NBA). Basketball was invented in 1892 by a Canadian doctor named James Naismith.
He started with having simple rules so all the players were able to get used to playing the sport
very easily. Basketball has changed over the years and it will continue to change in the future.
For all the different levels of basketball, there are different rules and judgments on how the game
should be played. Basketball has many different ways to play effectively. It is a very competitive
sport and as a player it is his/her job to figure out which is the best way to beat the opponent on

sport as far back as five hundred years ago. Basketball was played differently around the world.
When they first started playing basketball, nobody was for sure about how to go about the rules
and how to play it so they just had many different techniques and their own rules on how they were
about going about playing it (Basketball in

Franny And Zooey By J. D. Salinger
For my summer reading book report I, unfortunately, chose the book Franny and Zooey, which
combines his short story Franny and novella Zooey by J.D. Salinger. One of the best parts of
this book was the ending on page 201, When she had replaced the phone, she seemed to know
just what to do next... Before she fell into a deep, dreamless sleep, she just lay quiet, smiling at
the ceiling . This is a great moment, partly because the book was over and there was no more
pretentious complaining to read, and partly because the story ended with all loose ends tied up
simply and a main character resolving her spiritual and emotional issues, which was the main
plot point of the two stories. The worst part of this book happened many times, one of the most
notable times was on page 53 that carried on to 53 In all that follows, only the two youngest of
the seven children will be directly seen or heard. , this sentence and the long footnote that follows it
describes in overwhelming detail the lives of the five other Glass siblings even though they are not
mentioned more than in passing for the rest of the story and fits the reoccurring theme of the author
presenting loads of unnecessary information which made this book boring and terrible to read....

It is this realisation that sowed the seeds of collective bargaining which later resulted in trade
unionism. The workers, working under a common employer, faced common problems and common
tasks. They developed common sentiments, and organised themselves into associations which
could meet the employers on a basis of equality. The inchoate labour organisations had to cross
many hurdles before they could develop into fullfledged stable trade unions. There were internal
dissentions, persistent and determined opposition from the employers, merciless persecution and
suppression by the state (For example, in England, France, Germany and the United States,
combinations of workmen per se were declared illegal), and the full throated condemnation of trade
unionism by the advocates of free competition and laissez faire. In spite of these efforts at
suppression, trade unions continued to grow, sometimes working underground and sometimes
openly. They continued to defy the laws prohibiting the combination of workmen (Combination
Acts of 1799 and 1800 in Great Britain, for example) and the judicial pronouncements (particularly,
the judgement in the Philadelphia Cordwainers Case of 1806 in the United States) against the
combinations of workmen. Under incessant pressures from the workers and their organisations, the
law and the attitude of the courts gradually came to be modified. The history of the trade union
movement everywhere is a history of blood,

social organization in which the father or oldest male is the head of the family, and descent and

Therefore, women were attributed feminine duties of caring for the home and pursuing the outlets
of feminine creativity. Because women were refused the opportunity to work or take part in the

  • 2. The European Slave Trade Europeans were looking for a way to trade with china. During this time they managed to stumble across the americas. At first, europeans just used the americas for its resources. Later they realized they could take the land. After settling in the americas europeans needed slaves for many reasons. Portugal started the atlantic slave tradeby shipping african slaves from their trading post in Africa. The Atlantic slave trade had many causes and effects during the Atlantic world which ends up changing the new world and the way it develops. Africans were chosen as slaves for the atlantic slave trade. Europeans had easy access to these people. They went to leaders on the coast of Africa and traded their trade goods for slaves in return. The leaders had often gotten slaves from villages within africa. The Europeans then took the africans and shipped them across the Atlantic to the new world. The slaves could not escape they were easily taken from their villages by their leaders. They were shipped across the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They were used all across the americas. They had to work on plantations to make it possible to live and fund the person living there. There was two ways slaves had to do labor: gang labor or the task system. Gang labor was where slaves had to work whenever it was possible. Slaves who were in gang labor were overworked and died way faster than any other labor. Europeans made gang labor happen in places they knew they could make a profit in the time of the slaves lives. The other labor practice was the task system. Slaves had to do a certain amount of tasks for the day to keep from getting punished and if they managed to get it done they could do whatever they wanted in the bounds of slavery. Europeans did this when they wanted the slaves to live longer and to last longer. • 3. Production And Downsizing Of The Organization Production and Downsizing There are times when a business is faced with a sudden need increase its productivity. This can be caused by a boost in popularity of one or more products, or an opening within the market. The best way to bolster productivity is to assess the current structure of the organization. The workforce, processes, supply, and goals must all be evaluated. Understanding where cuts need to be made is often an important factor, as well as knowing if you will be able to successfully satisfy the demands of the consumers that are awaiting the product. Changing the structure of the organization into a functional structure would be propitious for the company given the goals it wishes to achieve. Functional structures are excellent for creating employees with highly specialized and specific skills, which could certainly be beneficial in a candy company. Having employees with in depth knowledge of the product can push the company towards further success in the future. These employees are often considered star employees, which are noted for being fast, efficient and confident. Specialization leads to operational efficiencies and enhances productivity levels (Davoren, n.d.). While functional structures have their strengths, the weaknesses are also important factors to consider. Communication, an undeniably vital aspect of any organization, can become strained and stalled within functional organizations. Employees can become too focused on their individual tasks and ... • 4. Literature Review On Nursing Bedside Report В· The section entitled literature review relies primarily on studies conducted in the last 5 years. The literature on nursing bedside report is focused in two general areas. The first focus area is the process of implementing bedside report, either describing the experiences related to implementation or explaining how other organizations could implement this change. The second area of focus is improving the process of bedside report, often through observation and identifying common themes, or by describing how others may improve their own reporting process. В· The theoretical or conceptual framework is described.
The conceptual framework was the interviews of the patients on their stay in the hospital. The patient survey had 17 items dealing with the following nurse behaviors treating the patient kindly and with respect, listening to the patient, informing the patient about their care, teaching so that the patient could understand, working with other nurses, passing along information from shift to shift, including the patient in report discussions and keeping the patient s health information private (Sand Jecklin Sherman 2013). В· Does the literature review provide support for the importance of future study research?

Comparing Poems Salome, Hitcher, On My First Sonne and The Man He Killed The poems, Salome, Hitcher, On My First Sonne and The Man He Killed all have similar themes. The menacing and threatening ideas that the poets used are all based around death. However, each poem has a different perspective on the word with different motives and emotions. The Man He Killed is about a man who talks of the experience he had of shooting someone and the regrets he has for it. He feels guilty, as he has no conceivable explanation for shooting the man. He talks of the similarities he and his foe had such as He thought he d list, perhaps, Off hand like just as I. The use of hesitation and repetition show the... He writes about violence in a very relaxed manner just as the person would have thought without a care in the world . On My First Sonne is about a Father grieving for the death of his first Son. He believes he has sinned and that his sin is that he loved his Son too much. This menacing in a way as it is a confusing or immoral as it is strange too think a man could believe his Son died because he loved him too much. In the poem Salome, it appears that Salome has become a serial remover of heads. Having woken up with a severed head on the pillow, she cannot even remember the owner s name. So she calls for the maid has breakfast, and decides to clean up her life. • 6. Nasir And Ghada The impact that global politics has had on the individuals of the Middle Eastern region is highlighted in the life experiences of Naji, Nasir, and Ghada. Each person is looking for a better tomorrow, but that is not easy to find due to the difficulties that arise in the differences in religion, culture, and even gender. Naji endured the struggles of being Jewish, Nasir had to deal with being a young man with slim job opportunities, and Ghada had to deal with the struggles of being a woman. Although each faced a slightly different problem, the one thing they had in common was their fight to survive. Plagued by war and conflict in the region, the three individuals showcased started with relatively satisfactory lives that quickly eroded as time went by. In the case of Dr.... Although unsuccessful, Ghada s desperate attempt displays the burdens placed on Palestinian women and the realities of what they must deal with everyday under Israeli control. Ghada was forced to stay in an unhappy marriage with her cousin, whose mother she did not get along with. This relationship was also strained by the fact that she was separated from her family by a border controlled by the Israelis. Ghada s options for a successful divorce were limited in the sense that if she requested the separation, she would have to give up the second half of her dowry, which would have a negative financial consequence for herself and her family. Along with that, her reputation would be tarnished in the village, which would make it very difficult for Ghada to make it on her own. All of these consequences of a female initiated divorce offers an insight to how women are regarded in the modern Middle East. • 8. Puritans In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter In Nathaniel Hawthorne s, The Scarlet Letter, the Puritans are depicted as a sad and uniform group of people. Hawthorne never explicitly states his negative views towards the Puritans, rather he chooses to imply these views through his diction, color symbolism, comparing and contrasting, and his use of irony. In the first chapter, Hawthorne describes the Puritans as, a throng of bearded men, in sad colored garments and gray, steeple crowned hats, intermixed with women, some wearing hoods... (55). Hawthorne, using the color gray, portrays the Puritans as depressing and rigid people. The color gray is often used to represent people with sangfroid and is also associated with conformity. Gray also has a subduing effect on other colors in the same way that the Puritans try to control Hester s heterodox behavior. By depicting the men and women as indistinguishable, Hawthorne further criticizes the Puritan uniformity and attempt to hide human nature. As a Romantic, Hawthorne believed that nature was superior to society and in nature nothing is uniform, so when the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The letter A was previously given to Hester with the putative meaning of adulteress, now Hawthorne gives the scarlet letter to Dimmesdale. The shared conditions include the metabolic syndrome, depression, and cancer.3 It is unclear whether cancer, particularly lymphoma and skin cancer, is related to the disease or its treatment (Gelfand et al., 2006). However, there are multiple problems, including long term efficacy, relapse after drug withdrawal, safety, and costs, are driving the search for new and better therapies(Leonardi et al., 2008). Motherhood Stereotypes The Market on Motherhood: How Stereotypes and Statistics Perpetuate Labour Market Inequality Homo heterosexual wage differentials could also arise from the discriminatory consequences of profiling, or statistical discrimination. Statistical discrimination occurs when an individual is treated on the basis of their membership of a group racial, sexual, socioeconomical, or otherwise and knowledge of that group s average characteristics. Thus, unless there is evidence which suggests otherwise, an individual is considered as the average person of the group to which they belong. Working mothers are a regular target for statistical discrimination and motherhood, linked with a per child wage penalty of approximately 5%, (Correll, Benard, Paik, 2007), is widely understood to be one of the worst career moves a woman can make (Miller, 2014). Mothers are frequently perceived as less competent employees, are thought to be less committed to their jobs, and are more likely to receive wage, hiring, and promotional penalties for having children (Correll, Benard, Paik, 2007). Contemporary norms only worsen the current situation: as women are socialised to prioritise caregiving and childrearing over their careers, employers become more and more hesitant to hire them, since they predict that they will be less likely to honour workplace commitments and more prone to leaving their jobs in the future (Schneebaum, 2013). This is rather alarming given that only four per cent of people aged over ten years old identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander in Queensland (ABS, 2017). The Australian Bureau of Statistics reports the age standardised offender rates per 100,000 for persons over the age of ten identifying as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander for 2015 2016 is 9,576 compared with 1,882 for non Indigenous Australians (ABS, 2017). Information in the court documents indicate that Mulrunji became agitated after being arrested, becoming violent once arriving at the police station and subsequently assaulting Senior Sergeant Hurley while being taken from the paddy wagon into the police station. Senior Sergeant Hurley s discretionary decision to arrest Mulrunji for a public nuisance offence had dire consequences resulting in a violent altercation and a subsequent death. It is an unfortunate reality that Indigenous Australians are over represented in our criminal justice system and are being arrested at disproportionate rates compared to non Indigenous ... • 13. Canada s Prime Minister And His Fundamental Culture Of Power Canada s Prime minister and his fundamental culture of power have increased dramatically over the last few decades. In the political spectrum power can be seen as authority held by a variety of individuals that constitutionalize a governing society. In Canada this power is divided into various separate branches of political institutions. The handling of power and distinction of these roles is determined through foundations that include the Legislative branch, the executive branch, the bureaucracy, and judiciary branch. Canadais a fusion of the British parliamentary system with American federalism. In Canada the Prime ministerholds the highest role in parliament. Although these branches of parliament are meant to divide and generally secure power from one another, in recent years the transformation has been focused on the majority party at the heart of the government, or per say the Prime Minister. The Prime minister and his advisers have the authority to appoint ministers and pass legislature which over time has caused the reduction of the role of the crown. This paper will outline how the Prime minister is in fact dominant through centralized power and his ability to manipulate the system by appointing ministers loyal to his biding, and his ability to remain unaccountable to the House of Commons. First analyzing how the role of Cabinet over time has shifted into the hands of the PM and the central party. This will give a better understanding as to how and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rock candy is a simple scientific experiment made at home from sugar and water. Rock candy can be made up of different types of sugar. I used pure cane granulated sugar. Rock candy is formed when sugar is dissolved in boiling water and is cooled and placed in a glass jar with the wooden skewer. When the water evaporates the sugar crystal will start to grow overtime. The water and sugar is a saturated solution, meaning that water could only hold sugar if both were very hot. By cooling the water, the sugar comes out of the solution and forms crystals on the skewer and around the glass. The hypothesis for my experiment was that the more sugar you use the more crystals will form. My question is if you add more sugar, will more crystals? Jackson had certain fundamental beliefs that shaped him as a person and would be the foundation for which he would rule the country. He stood by those beliefs and fought for what he saw as the right way. During his life, Jackson would fight many battles and tackle many fundamental opponents. Here, the topic brings into focus one area of importance to Jackson, the national bank, and individual states rights, as well as some the opponents he faced during only a few of the many issues he would take on during his lifetime. The offer came with the condition that the Bank would be granted a charter extension. (Warshauer) Biddle took Jackson by surprise when he asked for a re charter four years before their current charter expired, which also happened to be an election year. Biddle played on the belief that he could force Jackson s hand out of fear from causing an election issue in the upcoming voting. Biddle was incorrect. (Warshauer) The re charter bill went on the Senate floor in March and was graciously met with much support. Jackson issued a veto that would try not to anger the public and in return, not cost the Democrats support in the fall election. Jackson s veto played off of the stockholding policies of foreign citizens and the questions the Bank s monopoly, which brought up questions about the Constitutional laws that it might infringe upon. • 20. Fahrenheit 451 Personal Response Essay One of the phrases that I chose to include on the poster is, THE FOOLISH. I chose this phrase because that is how the general population is perceived in this book. They easily believe what is told to them and follow the orders of anyone, making them very gullible. Society, at this point, does not really have any individuality. They follow the group opinion and no longer come up with ideas of their own. So, THE FOOLISH is the main descriptor of society, or the antagonist, Another wordthat I chose to include is, REMEMBER. This word was chosen because it was the duty of the protagonist, Montag, to remember his part of the story. It was vital for him to do so because it was the only way that the bookswere going to survive throughout the war. Montag really struggled with this job because he could never really quite comprehend what was going on, until he absolutely needed it. In addition to that, I chose the word, DEPRESSION. This was important because it affected how the reader viewed the society as a whole. MANIPULATION was also an important word added to my project. Manipulation was used very often throughout the story, especially with the character Beatty. Beatty often used long, drawn out sentences with a lot of references to confuse Montag and change his opinion on the situation. • 21. National Debt Is Not Always A Bad Thing When I first thought of national debt I thought about only the cons and disadvantages of having it. I never gave thought as to what the advantages of having it may be. National debt is the amount of money the federal government owes to lenders outside of itself. When the Treasury borrows funds, it issues Treasury bonds; these are IOUs of the federal government. In other words, the national debt is a stock of IOUs created by annual deficitflows. (Schiller 261) With the help of research and my economics class, I have learned that having national debt is not always a bad thing. For example, the financial crisis of 2008 2009 and the effects it had on the economy and people was horrible. However, I learned that if it weren t for the increase in government borrowing by bailing out banks and financial markets, the banks and financial markets could have froze and that would have thrown us into a Great Depression type run on banks. If the government uses its debt the right way, then it will allow the government to do things that it couldn t really do before. I believe investing that debt instead of spending it would be the wiser choice. The government sometimes spends money so that consumers will have money but they just end up spending it. This is just a way for the government to stimulate spending at that moment. That s just a short term benefit. Therefore, by investing its debt in things such as medical and technological research and education will create a long term ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It does not rule out other possibilities, such as waking up to find oneself to be not a human but a different form of life. Therefore the statement of the body is too broad to specifically identify as being in human form. Also, it should be noted that the Cogito only works for the thought. It cannot be used in a sense that, I can walk or sleep therefore I exist since I can doubt these actions carried out by the body. The reason why a person cannot doubt itself is because the doubt is in a form of a thought in ones mind, not an action of our body. Descartes discusses that physical objects are more known distinctly through the mind than through the body and explains his reason further in the Wax Argument. The Wax Argument describes how Descartes wanted to show that we come to know things using the intellectual parts of our brain rather than through our senses. Basically, Descartes is trying to prove that we know the mind truly better than anything else, like our bodies and the world outside of the mind. This argument begins by describing the process of change by which solid wax melts until it has changed its phase of matter to form a liquid puddle. Among that group of young players is Brock Lamb, who broke out last year as a rising star punching above his weight in terms of responsibility for a 20 year old. He shouldered that responsibility incredibly well, but his future at the club is uncertain with the addition of Pearce and Watson, as well as current halfback Trent Hodkinson. In a situation that seems identical to Cronk wanting Pearce to stay at the Roosters, the latter hopes to play alongside Lamb in Knights colours next year. I d love Brock to stay, before I came here I was a big fan of the way he played, Pearce said. For a 20 year old the way he played in a team that was down the bottom of the ladder was a real standout. (Adams) The case, meant to decide if Scopes broke the law, diverged from its original intention as the witnesses began to speak about the constitutionality of the law, questioning the legitimacy of the Bible. One of the most well known of these examinations was the questioning of Bryan by Darrow about the book of Genesis. • 41. Edgar Allan Poe s A Descent Into The Maelstrom In Edgar Allan Poe s A Descent into the Maelstrom, the power of nature is underestimated. Aspects of the natural world are depicted in an extreme, otherworldly and almost unfathomable form, and serve as indicators for a journey into a world that is within nature, but simultaneously borders on the supernatural. Common elements of the natural world are intensified and serve as symbolic, rather than everyday elements. Their exaggerated forms signify a break from a more familiar, assumed understanding of nature, which man thought he could predict and control, to a more powerful force. The protagonist in A Descent into the Maelstrom attempts to use reasoning and science to prepare to map out nature s workings, which proves to be unreliable as he encounters natural forces that surround supernatural events. The end result is that a reliance on the principles of science and reason are exchanged for a renewed understanding of the powerful role of nature and its relation with the cosmic. Through the sailor s changed perspective after encountering the maelstrom, the reader is able to see the relationship between the nature of the cosmos and man s place in it. It is through the comparative theme of the cosmic versus the small that Poe challenges the favored prevalence of scientific thinking that stemmed from the Enlightenment. In a time where the complexities of religion and nature were being overwhelmed by a preference for scientific explanation and thought, Poe challenges that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Writings Of Karl Marx Allison Bierman SOC 3020 Strand December 11, 2014 Final Paper: Question #9 The writings of Karl Marx, Max Weber, and Emile Durkheim each set out to discuss how an individual is connected to their social standing within society. Along with how social classes form their beginnings. Each of their theories are complex and require thorough analysis in order to fully understand their point of view. How social class is obtained in the United States is the question being posed. I will discuss which theory I personally think is best and most applicable to our modern society. I will thoroughly compare and contrast the works of Marx, Weber, and Durkheim; along with pointing out strengths and weaknesses in all three. It is first important to understand the meaning of social class. Sociologically speaking, the term social class is a way to divide individuals based upon their economic and social standing within the larger system of economic production. In the United States, the five most common social classes include: upper class elite, upper middle class, lower middle class, working class, and poor. It is assumed that the more money one has, the higher their class status will be however there is always the possibility for outliers. Social class controls several aspects of our lives and is an extremely important factor when determining potential opportunities. The workers, working under a common employer, faced common problems and common tasks. They developed common sentiments, and organised themselves into associations which could meet the employers on a basis of equality. The inchoate labour organisations had to cross many hurdles before they could develop into fullfledged stable trade unions. There were internal dissentions, persistent and determined opposition from the employers, merciless persecution and suppression by the state (For example, in England, France, Germany and the United States, combinations of workmen per se were declared illegal), and the full throated condemnation of trade unionism by the advocates of free competition and laissez faire. In spite of these efforts at suppression, trade unions continued to grow, sometimes working underground and sometimes openly. They continued to defy the laws prohibiting the combination of workmen (Combination Acts of 1799 and 1800 in Great Britain, for example) and the judicial pronouncements (particularly, the judgement in the Philadelphia Cordwainers Case of 1806 in the United States) against the combinations of workmen.
