Iowa State Persuasive Speech
Hey Coach, Iowa State is going great. The classes are alright, but I enjoy going to most of them. I am
taking advantage of the facilities and I am back in the weight room. All the techniques and lifts you
taught me are really making it easier now that I am lifting without a coach. I thank you for all the time
and effort you put into the lifting program so I know what I am doing here at Iowa State. The main
reason that I am writing you is to share this with the seniors at North Scott High School. Particularly,
the seniors who are struggling to pick the place they will be spending the next four years of their lives.
It is the beginning of the school year and the seniors who already have a plan are ready to go but the
seniors who don t are scared for the future. I encourage the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It can be intimidating knowing that there are 36,000 students enrolled at Iowa State, but it is not as big
as it seems. The students would find that even though Iowa State is a big school, there are certain
places that can really make it feel like home. There are certain spots around campus that scream Iowa
State like Hilton Coliseum, Jack Trice Stadium, and you can t forget the Memorial Union with the
view of the Campineal right past the fountain. Those places are a sight to see and one of the perks of
the campus, but that is not the spot I enjoy most about the Iowa State campus. The place that is really
special to me personally are the Larch dorms. The fifth floor in particular. It is the place where I spend
most of my time, and yes that is because it is where I am living, but I really enjoy living here. The
dorm environment is great. You meet tons of new people and on the fifth floor of Larch, everyone s
door is always open. Even if you are not in the dorms, there are still multiple opportunities to meet
new people. We are about two weeks into the

Pornography, Erotica, and Nude Art – There Is a Difference...
Pornography is a subject that has always been argued and stirs up controversy almost anywhere it may
arise. There are people who are against it, and would like to ban all pornography for the benefit of
everyone, while there are those who defend it, claiming it is part of their guaranteed free speech, to
express themselves in a manner of their choosing. With the issue of pornography being debated and
spoken of, one major mistake people make is that they look at pornography according to their own
views. Different types of people look at pornography differently, and therefore create their own
definition of pornography in their minds. Usually, pornography tends to be mistaken with nude art and
erotica, so some people consider erotic as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So the students were then allowed to look at the subject s breasts and ponder the importance of nude
art as they made replicas of the woman in a graceful, artistic, position. The students probably
submitted a signed note from their parents to be involved in the sculpture session, because I do not
know of any public school that would allow its students to take part in this type of class during school
hours, on school grounds. The woman s nudity is considered as art because she is posing for an art
class, which was allowed by a public school, although I highly do not think that it would actually
happen. Nude art s purpose is to portray the human body as an art form, and not an object of sexuality
or arousal.
Both pornography and erotica have the main purpose to sexually stimulate people, but pornography
does not show the emotional connection between the individuals involved in the sexual acts, while
erotica does. Erotica is just like nude art, except that erotica possesses no artistic value, and art does
contain an artistic value that is accepted by everyone. There is a form of art called erotic art that I
guess is a mixture of erotica and nude art. But if guidelines were to be set by the government, art
forms that could be on the borderline of erotic art could be easier to distinguish. Pornography is not
classified as nude art at all, and nude art is not pornography. Pornography just has the sole

The Hawala Extortion Method
HAWALA INTRODUCTION [pic] Among the methods terrorists worldwide use to move money from
regions that finance them to target countries some hardly leave any traceable trail. As regulators
learned recently, one of the weak points in the payments chain through which illicit funds can enter is
a system of traditional trust based banking originating in southern Asia which is known as hawala. The
word hawala is Hindi meaning trust or exchange . Often used in relation with the word hundi which
stands for bill of exchange hawala is an unofficial alternative remittance and money exchange system

Free Will In The Movie The Truman Show In Philosophy
The Truman Show in Philosophy
In the movie The Truman Show Truman Burbank is the main character where he has lived all of his
life in the small town of Seahaven . There Truman has lived all of his life believing that he is living a
normal life, but his whole life he has been filmed and watched by the whole world. His reality was the
town and the universal reality was apart of watching him in his daily life and his reality. The Truman
Show is an example of the concept of Free Will because
Truman has no idea free will in his world, everything is tailored so that he does not have any say in
what really happens in his life. Descartes states that with free will that we tried to doubt all things and
even supposed that He who created us employed His unlimited powers in deceiving us in every way, .
Truman is seen as the good, innocent and pure of how the world should be. Christof, the director of
the show, states The world, the place you live in is a sick place. Seahaven is the way the world should
be. . Christof is portraying God, he controls everything that is going on in the life of Truman. Ed
Helms, the actor playing Christof, says that Christof is a godlike figure he oversees everything and has
been with Truman from birth. This concept of free will and the actors that set up his everyday routine
sets up Platos Allegory of the Cave . The prisoners in the cave are forced to stare at a wall where
shadows are cast and puppeteers are able to show the prisoners what they

Short Story Of The Little Mermaid
Ever since Prince Eric severely stabbed Ursula with his ship, everyone thought she died. However, he
managed to summon enough energy to return to her lair and leave Atlantica. Since she was so sickly,
she needed a new henchman to help her become who she was before. Or in this case, a henchwoman;
me.
Let me explain how this all began. I met Ursula on my trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. She wanted to
set up a new lair somewhere unknown and away from Triton s rule, and decided on Mexico since his
Empire was near the European seas. My family went to a tourist attraction where underwater caves
lead to a hidden beach. I usually like to pick up shells from beaches I visit, so I brought some gear to
find some treasures. While underwater, I found a shell, glowing like the sun, and as large as my hand.
Finally! Someone found my shell. I was starting to wonder if humans were stupid... a voice muttered
quietly. I looked around confused, thinking someone was nearby.
This isn t your ordinary shell, but that s not important right now, the voice said, My name is Ursula. I
need your help, and I think you d like my offer.
Ursula? Like from The Little Mermaid? I replied.
Ugh, that horrid film. That movie doesn t explain everything, but yes Ursula sighed.
Long story short, Ursula needed help gaining her full powers back after her brawl with Prince Eric and
Ariel. I agreed to aid her after she explained that as a girl she was shunned from the mermaid society
for being a cecaelia;

Executive Director Of The Harvard Business School...
According to Christina L. Darwall, executive director of the Harvard Business School California
Research Center, Built to flip is an essential element of competing in the new economy, successful
businesses are necessarily to be short in time. (Palowski, 2000) In the 21st century, there is a rising
impatience within the economy. Investors are no longer interested in long term and sustaining
companies, but most of the businesses are aiming to do quickly and get acquired within a short period,
which are the Build to flip companies. (Collin, 2000; p. 1) Under the culture of entitlement, managers
now see themselves are entitled to make money, and in a case that The faster I go, the faster I feel I
need to go . (Thrift, 2000; p. 26) As well as the rapid growth of consumer demand, leads to the
massive expansion in customer service entitlements. (2014, Lecture 4; p. 8) This is an unquestionable
sign of a boom in decay. (Thrift, 2000; p. 26) In addition, impermanence is a feature in different
phenomenon, and everything will come to the stage of deterioration. (Zsolnai, 2014; p. 63) If it was
permanent in everything, we do not have to make choices, judgments, responsibilities and
entitlements. (2014, Lecture 9; p. 1) Yet, the successes of mass production and consumption in the
new economy seem cause us entirely forgot to notify finitude and limits of the whole world. This
problem would be a threat in our future and the next generation.

The House On Mango Street Act 1 Scene 1 Analysis
Scene 1:
Stage begins in darkness. The balcony is lit showing Angelica and Moretta s entrance, they almost
prance onto stage, leaning over the balcony suggestively as Bravo can be seen sat behind them, before
the light shifts and they are in darkness. A spotlight now illuminates Pedro on the stage, gazing
upwards when delivering his line; his stance should be overtly masculine and his voice low in pitch
and arrogant in his offer. The light will then switch back to the balcony allowing for Pedro s exit.
Bravo sits on the balcony; legs spread and leaning back in an leery manner and delivers his lines from
this position then exits after caressing Angelica s face and touching Moretta s hand to illustrate the
degree to which the female characters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because this is Restorative Comedy, the acting needs to be light hearted but enjoyable, the actors
should embrace the explicit nature of the play and express a comedic comfort on acting on such a
subject. The cast not in this scene will sit around the edge of the round of light, creating a smaller
stage; they will act as the audience mimicking the reactions and emotions that are expected in order to
create a more understanding atmosphere within the audience. The male actors who are playing female
roles, only Angelica in this scene, are wearing a garment of female clothing from the props cupboard,
a feather boa or a hat or jewellery lipstick? The female actors playing male roles (Antonio, Page and
Pedro) will have their hair tired up in a bun, if possible and wear the beige shirts found in the store
cupboard over their black trousers and tops as well as the suit jackets that we will supply. This scene
occurs during a Masquerade Ball so each actor should either be wearing or holding a mask. In this
scene, the stereotypes of gender are accentuated and emphasized. This will be done through the use of
body language, hand gestures and the manipulation of voice. The female actors will stand with their
legs apart and the hips thrust slightly forward, when possible they will use large hand gestures when
they speak. The voice should be in a lower register to usual, if this is possible, and should be projected
so that the audience feels an air of authority. The male actors should try to talk quieter and be less
dominant on the stage, they should use simple modest hand gestures and at times, when the play
allows, should become

Animals In The Trojan War
As we discussed in class, the Iliad s mortals lie between gods and animals in their thoughts and
actions, and often struggle to overcome their baser instincts in the pursuit of god like wisdom and
power. However, the events of the Trojan War paradoxically suggest that in order to attain divine glory
heroes must become increasingly bestial, slowly losing their humanity as the battle drags on. Homer
makes the inhuman ferocity of his heroes obvious, most notably in frequent similes comparing various
fighters to predators. These comparisons are more frequent and violent as the war escalates. During
the peak of Agamemnon s fury in battle, he is compared to a lion [seizing] the innocent young of the
running deer...and [ripping] out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the Achaians and the Trojans place high value on honor earned in battle, multiple characters
comment on the futility of war. While in combat, Menelaos angrily declares that the Trojans will never
be satisfied with their accomplishments in war, directly contrasting it with more humane activities
such as song and dance. Even Achilleus admits, There [is] no gratitude given for fighting incessantly
forever against your enemies...A man dies still if he has done nothing, as one who has done much
(9.316 318). However, the heroes recognition of the wasteful, unending nature of war is ultimately
meaningless, as emotion drives them to fight even when logic would tell them to turn back. This is
what separates the humans from the gods gods have some control over their emotions, while humans,
like animals, are completely beholden to them. This contrast is clearest in Book 16, where Zeus
ultimately masters his own sadness over his son Sarpedon s impending death and allows fate to take
its course, while Patroklos, in a huge blind fury (16.685), forgets Achilleus s orders and pursues the
Trojans, leading to his demise. Thus, the human heroes lead a fundamentally tragic existence they, like
animals, are increasingly controlled by their instincts and emotions as the

3 Themes Of Avatar
In the movie Avatar, James Cameron depicted 3 themes that I can see, these themes are biodiversity,
sustainability, energy pyramids. Avatar has a lot of themes but the ones i see and think are the most
important and noticeable are these. This shows us how humans are greedy and selfish. All they care
about is profit and self benefit. Most humans just think about themselves but one day they will lose
everything but the harm they did still affects others. Sustainability is a big part in this movie because it

Analyzing Fiction Book The Brave
Fiction books have helped me know why people are so worried about bullying. I have read a book
called The Brave when I was in eleventh grade for a free read that showed me how common and
serous bullying can be. It has also showed me that our generation needs to learn to have respect for
each other in and outside of school so bullying will start to go away. In books that I have read in
school in the past that dealt with bullying were far worse than what people consider bullying today. In
most cases the bullying is on a very serious level in books now a days and could cause the victim a lot
of physical, mental, and emotional harm from what the characters say and do. Bullying inside and
outside of school is very serious in this generation both

Food Production Essay
The Production of meat in the United States and Argentina is a huge commodity to both of the
countries development, because both countries ranked in the top five meat consumption list according
to Forbes. The idea that food production occurs mainly in less developed countries is contradictory,
according to the rankings of the top food producers in the world. Looking at specific countries and
comparing the top three development indicators is an effective way of showing development because
it categorizes life expectancy, education, gross national income, and adds a fourth dimension in carbon
emissions. Food production is said to negatively affect a countries development but this statement can

The countries are ranked on how well their nation is doing with each specific development index. The
three indicators that were put into place effectively indicate and show development because they cover
the key aspects of Human Development listed above. Although the three indicators of development are
an effective way of seeing the true development of a country the one important thing that it doesn t
cover is the gross domestic product which really shows a countries social well being and economic
development. While the GDP has its strengths it also has its weakness because its quality is not
computed and distributive aspects are ignored. Social well being can often be described as the GDP of
a country but even though the U.S is ranked number one in the world in GDP it is still not the top
country when it comes to social well being. If we take all aspects into consideration such as health and
wellness, as well as personal safety which is not considered in GDP the U.S would not even be in the
top ten. According to a new breed of country success metrics called Social Progress index created in
2015, the U.S ranked number sixteen whereas Argentina ranked number thirty eight. Some people
could argue that extensive investments in green production and sustainable consumption can increase
economic growth and development without increasing the emissions of greenhouse gases. This could
be the recipe for success for a country because if a

Physical Experience In High School
Walking down the cold, smelly hallways of Dutchtown high School with my freshly ironed khaki
pants, purple polo style button up, and new burnt orange and white saucony shoes, I was ready for
school. This was a very unusually hot august day with a high of 98 degrees. As I got off the bus, I felt
the sun rays beaming down on my head. I couldn t get to the cafeteria door before I started to sweat
profusely. The 7:25 bell rung to go to class. I walked to my 1st hour class and saw a short, baldheaded,
dark skinned man with a whistle around his neck. Before anyone could even come into the classroom,
the teacher told everyone make sure their IDs are on.I sat in my desk and didn t pay any attention to
what the man had just said. He began to talk about the importance of physical activity and the effect
that it has later in life. Ten minutes into the class, the short man yells get out of your desks and let sgo
outside! Fairly confused we all got up out of our desks and slowly headed out the door. The whole
class met behind the bleachers of the football stadium. We will run a total of 4 miles today, the man
yelled. The entire class sent a wave of disgust and disappointment throughout the whole school.
Looking like a group of zombies we walked slowly and unenthusiastically towards the high school s
field. The running track seemed as though it was staring at us with the look of death. I looked up in the
sky and there was

The Age Of Reason By Thomas Paine
Thomas Paine was an influential 18th century writer of essays and pamphlets. Among them were The
Age of Reason, regarding the place of religion in society; Rights of Man, a piece defending the French
Revolution; and Common Sense, which was published during the American Revolution. Common
Sense, Paine s most influential piece, brought his ideas to a vast audience, swaying (the otherwise
undecided) public opinion to the view that independence from the British was a necessity. Thomas
Paine was born in England in 1737, to a Quaker father and an Anglican mother. Paine received little
formal education, but did learn to read, write and perform arithmetic. At the age of 13, he began
working with his father as stay maker (the thick rope stays used on sailing ships) and he later worked
as an officer of the excise, hunting smugglers, and collecting liquor and tobacco taxes. He did not
excel at this job, nor at any other early job, and his life in England was, in fact, marked by repeated
failures. To compound his professional hardships, around 1760, Paine s wife and child both died in
childbirth, and his business, that of making stay ropes, went under. In the summer of 1772, Paine
published The Case of the Officers of Excise, a 21 page article in defense of higher pay for excise
officers. It was his first political work, and he spent that winter in London, handing out the 4,000
copies of the article to members of Parliament and other citizens. In spring of 1774, Paine was

Mcmurphy s Fog With Nurse Ratched
The contrast in leadership styles illuminates an awakening among the patients with McMurphy s
ability to lift the fog. Chief contemplates the effect of fog with Nurse Ratched in control: Nobody
complains about all the fog. I know why, now: as bad as it is, you can slip back in it and feel safe
(112). The fog that looms over the patients symbolizes the safety and comfort they find by being
concealed. Beneath the fog, patients go about their days with no direction, while being guided by the
the orders of Nurse Ratched. Although the fog creates a sense of blindness, the patients feel safe in
their ability to blend in. By slip[ing] under the fog and following Nurse Ratched s rules, they live
simple lives of low conflict. McMurphy s transformational ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Unlike Nurse Ratched, McMurphy was clearly acting as part of a group rather than as an autonomous
element. His leadership role in the group can be nicely illustrated throughout the novel in terms of his
relationship to other patients (Lena). Whether it was persuading patients to go deep sea fishing,
inviting prostitutes to the ward, or changing the cleaning schedule to watch the World Series,
McMurphy centralizes his actions around a group. He cares more about the patients as he does
himself, as he was willing to risk his life for George in the bathhouse. When speaking to the nurses to
protect George, McMurphy states, You goddamned coon, McMurphy said, somehow sounding more
tired than mad... McMurphy raised his voice. Goddamned motherfucking n**! (236). McMurphy s
courage to fight the nurses shows his selflessness as a leader, as violating the rules has severe
consequences. To many in the ward, McMurphy serves as a special friend and hero (227). His
inclusivity as a leader to make his group members feel valued makes him successful. Nurse Ratched
lacks the human characteristics that McMurphy has, which is fatal to her leadership. Because she leads
by manipulation and fear, she cannot be trusted. The contrast in leadership styles between Nurse
Ratched and McMurphy leads to an imbalance of power,

The Nuance Group Summary
Part 1
Zaremba (2010) points out that crisis is any unanticipated event, incident, situation, or development
that has the potential to damage or destroy your organization s reputation . (P.234) This definition
indicates two attributes of crisis: unexpectedness and destructiveness, so effective communication is
crucial to manage a crisis. The Nuance Group, a successful management consulting company, with a
reputation of experienced and highly educated consultants, was facing the crisis brought by its great
reputation . As a consultancy, it s their profession to market themselves. A glossy brochure with

When this kind of exaggeration was acquiesced to do by the superior who also want to gain more
clients for the first time, he would think that s OK and tried another time, although he knew he lied.
After many instances of neglect by the superior, the consultant would not think his behavior was
unethical and believe it was normal. As a consequence, more and more employees chose to embellish
their biography because they believed this kind of behavior is good for the company.
Part2
The first 48 hours after the outburst of crisis is the prime time to reduce destruction of the crisis and
restore the reputation of the corporation, so when to react and how to react are crucial for crisis
communication. As for the Nuance case, the company needs to take the following steps to deal with
the crisis.
1. Establish crisis communication team and designate the leader and spokesperson
After the crisis emerged, the company needs to establish a crisis communication team first. The team
must consist of directors from various departments and high level executives, especially CEO and
crisis management experts. In this team, it is crucial to have a leader who could mobilize resources,

What Is The Domino Theory Related To The Vietnam War
During World War II there was a total of about 40 days of combat in four years, whereas during the
Vietnam War there were 240 days of combat in one year. The Vietnam War was both devastating and
deceiving. America was not able to successfully save South Vietnam from communist rule, and yet
they still suffered a great amount of loss. The Vietnam War presented a plethora of issue to the United
States and Southeast Asia. The United States suffered a lot of casualties and the U.S. lost a lot of
money. Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos also suffered many casualties and Cambodia and Laos were no
longer peaceful. The war was deceiving because the United States government was not completely
honest about secret attacks on Laos and Cambodia. The Vietnam War should not have happened
because it affected citizens in America, it brought neutral countries into a war, and all of the countries
involved suffered tremendous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
President Dwight Eisenhower said, You have a row of dominoes set up; you knock over the first one,
and what will happen to the last one is that it will go over very quickly, which supports that he firmly
believed in this theory. Because of the domino theory, the United States felt it was their duty to stop
the spread of communism in Asia. So, the United States did have good intentions in the Vietnam War,
but in the end, the goal of protecting South Vietnam was not successful. The United States, after many
years of fighting, started to withdraw troops from Vietnam in June of 1969. Finally, on January 27,
1973, the United States fully withdrew from the Vietnam War. Even though the United States
withdrew before the end of the war, the damage was already gone. On April 30, 1975, Saigon fell to

At what temperature is more KCl able to dissolve: 40°C or 90°C?
90 C since with the KCl we found that the higher the temperature the more likely the substance is to
have greater solubility.
How is temperature related to the solubility of a salt? Explain your answer.
Solubility increases with temperature because the increase in kinetic energy allows the solvent
molecules to break apart the solute molecules that are held together by intermolecular attractions.
Which salt is more soluble, KCl or NH4Cl? Explain your answer.
NH4Cl since the data shows us that it requires less heat than KCl to fully dissolve.
Why is it important to not allow the test solutions to boil?

The Monetary System in Early America
The support, which Mr. Franklin s Modest Enquiry has raised, for a large addition of paper bills, to the
current circulating coinage, is alarming in of itself, and, added to the quickness with which the
commoner entrusts himself to Mr. Franklin s opinions, has the opportunity to bring ruin and poverty
upon our nation. His arguments for such a hasty addition are hinged upon the fact that this nation is
now in want of money. Is this true, fellow countrymen? Are we not a prosperous nation, by the
blessings of Him who sanctifies us with His dedications? Do we not receive pilgrims, from the shores
of the eastern world, who wish to share in our fortune? The honorable Mr. Franklin no doubt intends
well with his illustrious pamphlet; however, I find myself obligated to explain the failings in his
otherwise eloquent Enquiry. Firstly, Mr. Franklin s opening consideration reads as follows, A great
Want of Money in any Trading Country, occasions Interest to be at a very high Rate. As a foundation
for this assertion, he argues that men, in a time that occasions severe measures, are forced to demand
high interest, even to eight and ten percent. In his resulting argument, Mr. Franklin has made a
hazardous error in overlooking an ostensibly obvious exemption to his initial statement. Especially in
times of monetary stress, the value of competition is realized. For, of course, during such times,
money lenders experience an increase in business, and, desiring to surpass their competition,

Recruited teachers will be randomly assigned to one of three conditions. Participants in the first
condition will receive continued coaching on embedded instruction. Teachers in this condition will
receive training by their coach for one hour per week, be observed by their coach one hour per week,
and will receive feedback through email or phone call. Teachers in the second condition will attend
two six hour long workshops on embedded instruction and will not have continued contact with an
embedded instruction coach. Finally, teachers in the third condition will not receive training on
embedded instruction and will serve as a control group. Data will be collected from these teachers at
four time points. (T1) Data will be collected for the first time point four weeks after school begins to
provide teachers with time to become familiar with their students behaviors so that they can identify
target children with challenging behaviors. T1 will serve as a baseline measure, as no teachers will
have received embedded instruction coaching or training. (T2) Next, data will be collected before
students leave for winter break, preferably two weeks before break begins to avoid data collection too
close to the holidays which could lead to distractions. (T3) Data will be collected again in early spring
approximately two to three weeks after students return from holiday break. (T4) Finally, data will be

Soccer In The United States
Soccer in the United States has consistently taken a back seat to sports such as football, basketball, or
baseball until today. Soccer was a sport that never gained traction in the United States until recently,
and this is likely due to the American public who never appears to support a sport/club unless they
show signs of success in competition. Unfortunately, one of the downsides of the American public
only caring about the winners, is that even though soccer has existed in America for so long, they have
not been popular due to the lack of success, which is tied directly to the inability to recruit talented
athletes to play in MLS or the FIFA national team. However, while the popularity of soccer in the
United States is still relatively low in comparison to certain sports, their popularity is on the rise.
According to an article published by TheRichest.com in 2014, men s soccer was then the seventh most
popular sport in the United States behind ice hockey, men s professional basketball, auto racing,
college football, baseball, and football. Soccer never truly began to gain traction as a popular sport
until recently, that is why individuals younger than the age of thirty typically will not watch a soccer
match before they will the majority of sports. An expected ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Pros And Cons Of Equality And Equality
Equality has come a long way from where it was before, but the rights of the LGBTQ community are
still thrown to the side and not cared for enough. Some people believe the state of Indiana is just
making matters worse with the discriminating and victimizing law that goes by the Religious Freedom
Restoration Act as stated in the article City Rallies Around Its Gay Citizens After a Law Sets Off a
Flood of Support. It is allowing those with religious beliefs to discriminate against gays and lesbians
because the law ensures the interests of religious freedoms are protected. Although the law caused
backlash it also created an opportunity of unity within the State of Indiana and support from others as
well as said President of Indy Pride inc. Chris Morehead But on the back side of it, we saw support
from places we never imagined. People gathered from all around the state to help show their support
to those who were struggling with the new law. The law created mishaps but it showed the world that
you can have unification and equality throughout different people with dissimilar beliefs from one
another. Furthermore, the accusations of the law being discerning led to House Speaker Brian Bosma
to apologize to those who were hurt by stating We are sorry that misinterpretation hurt so many people
as said in article Indiana legislators back religion law amendment written by Danielle Paquette.
Additionally, he spoke about how Indiana is not a place of discrimination and the law

Water Pumps In California
Have you ever felt uncomfortable about not taking a shower for two or more days? Well, for many
Californians that rely on failing water pumps, many of them haven t taken a shower in over two to five
months. Three years of over pumping has caused the water supply in our underground aquifers to
slowly dry up because farmers are pumping more water out than can be replaced by the rain. Now,
because many towns are starting to lose their water due to their reliance on aquifer pumps, legislation
is being considered. But this decision to put a cap on those pumps has many farmers upset, for these
farmers believe that they should have an unlimited access to water. One farmer said that The city folk
are biting the hand that feeds them. But as many farmers believe that they should have unlimited
access to the pumps, many people in the cities that have no water believe that there should be ... Show

That means that the more than 40% of California is supplied by aquifers, that means that there is a lot
of water if it is able to support 40% of California. And if California did pass groundwater regulations,
that means that farmers would have to evenly distribute water or lose a lot of their crops and that
would be bad because then farmers would not produce as many crops, that means less revenue for
California. That is why so many farmers are against the groundwater regulations.
Even though all of these people are against the groundwater regulations, they have to think of the long
term effect of pumping groundwater. If we were to keep pumping groundwater, we would slowly
dwindle down our supply of groundwater, which is one of the reasons that California is such a good
place to farm and grow crops. And the more we pump out groundwater the more California sinks into
the gap left by the water that had been pumped out of the ground. That is why groundwater regulations

Drug Trafficking In Costa Rica
Drug trafficking is the worldwide manufacturing, distribution, and selling of illegal substances.
Organizations called drug cartels are the illegal businesses that conduct this trade. According to the
UNODC, Afghanistan is the world s largest producer of heroin and other opiates, and the majority of
opiates produced in the world are trafficked through Afghanistan s surrounding countries. North
America accounts for 40% of the world s cocaine consumption, and Colombia is one of the largest
cocaine suppliers for both North America and Europe. Peru, Bolivia, and Central American countries
are some of the main cocaine suppliers in Europe. One of the first global drug conflicts were the

1,700 kilos of cocaine are approximated to be dealt through Costa Rica by the end of 2016. In 2014,
more than 20% of the country s GDP was being used for drug trafficking, drug production, corruption,
tax evasion, and other crime. For most of the 2000 s Costa has led Central american countries in drug
confiscation, and the country s police organizations have been coordinated to focus their efforts on
patrolling ocean and sea routes for smuggling. Costa Rica is also working with the US, Colombia, and
Panama to diminish this problem. Unlike many other countries, especially in Central America, it is not
a criminal offence to possess drugs for immediate personal use. Many Central American countries
including Costa Rica are wanting an international debate to reform drug legislations. In 2013, Costa
Rica allied with the US to prevent drug cartels from infiltrating the country. Besides improving
security measures, Costa Rica has not proposed any major resolutions to the drug trafficking problem.
One method of prevention that the Costa Rican government would be in favor of is focusing their
efforts on shutting down drug cartels. Drug cartels in particular pose large threats to many Latin
American countries around Costa Rica, and disbanding these cartels should be the main focus for this
region. If drug cartels were no longer a threat, Costa Rica would not have to fear being overtaken by
these organizations, and the drug supply around the rest of the world, especially Central America and
the US, would be greatly

Election Of 1864 Essay
The Election of 1864 was important for many reasons, including the outcome of the Civil War,
Abraham Lincoln s assassination, and the first Presidential Re Elect since 1832. Abraham Lincoln ran
for the Union Party and ran against General George B McClellan and John Fremont. Lincoln was very
pessimistic about his chances of winning the Presidential race, as evidenced by the memorandum he
penned, stating what he would do in the very likely event that he was not re elected. The victories in
Atlanta and Cedar Creek boosted Lincoln s chances of winning immensely. Lincoln eventually won
with a 55/45 split of the popular vote and an electoral landslide. His election eventually lead to the

African American Stereotypes In Literature
Minorities are some of the most targeted and mistreated people in the world because of a
misconceptions we are given. Many people already have this image or idea of a person before getting
to know them because of what they have heard or read. Cultural representation of people and how
they are portray in literature affect how people are viewed and treated.
Some common stereotypes are that Asians are very intelligent people. For Latinos, many people
believe that they are gang affiliated and not very intelligent. As for African Americans, some common
ones include that they all are very similar in appearance or that they are all on welfare or that they
have big lips. Many believe that white people are rich and privileged. We hear these stereotypes as

teacher because she was white and they don t feel like she is up to the task because they feel like she is

was rich because culturally white people are represented more highly as opposed to minorities. Many
people have less trust in African Americans and Latinos because they are associated with drugs and
violence. In Ferguson Brown was shot by a police officer because he believed brown was armed, this
mistrust caused brown s death and an up roaring.
Historically literature undermines the minorities. African Americans went from being slave to separate

bad people. Even in television, the heroes are mostly white people. In the future there could be more

Summary Of Ayn Rand s Anthem
To rule, a ruler needs control. It is the cornerstone of any society with a leader. The society Ayn Rand
creates in Anthem is no exception. In Anthem, the rules in the society depicted by Rand exist for
control, and were initially created for equality but spiraled out of control into a world built on
collectivism and backward teachings. The society Prometheus, or Equality, envisions in the final
chapters of the novella would never have any of the rules in his past society, as he realizes through his
journey that they are evil and damaging. The Unmentionable Times turned into the society we see in
Anthem through giving up freedom for the sake of equality. A high school teacher mailed Rand her
students questions about the novella,

Government Intervention and Internet Regulation
Government Intervention and Internet Regulation Internet is a global network that connects millions
of computers together and allows people to communicate and share information with each other in an

The number of U.S. homes with one or more personal computers increased by 16% (in 1995) to about
38 million households, up from 33 million in 1994 and 25 million in 1993 (Fox 9). Along with that

So in such circumstances, we must have some procedures for tackling illegal content on the Internet
and some mechanisms for allowing end user control of what is accessed on the Internet (Darlington).
It is argued that the genesis of the Internet was such that it embraced and fostered a new spirit of
freedom, openness and experimentation and that these values must remain an integral feature of the
Internet and if any form of regulation is introduced then the whole essence of the internet will be lost
and people would not be able to access the vast resources of information that it has to offer
(Darlington). The opponents of regulation also argue that any form of internet regulation is against the
individual s rights to freedom of expression and the concept of net neutrality because in such a
scenario a person may not be able to choose the content he wants to view. However, it should be
clearly understood that society is greater than a single person and if such rights of freedom cause harm
to the values of the society as a whole, then it is perhaps the responsibility of the government to
intervene and restrict the rights given to every individual in order to maintain those values.
There is offensive content on the internet , so this justifies the use of internet restrictions (Darlington).

Innocent Whales Persuasive Essay
Imagine if the world you lived in, the space you breathed in, and the freedom you played in were
suddenly taken away from you. (Free Willy). This is unfortunately the case for much of our marine
wildlife, specifically Orcas. Over 53 Orcas live in captivity at 12 marine parks around the world (Orca
Project). Innocent Whales are being captured and tortured all for the use of our own enjoyment. I grew
up going to Sea World, as I m sure most kids in the San Diego area did as well. It was relatively

They are heavily medicated with antibiotics and sometimes antidepressants (Deep Water). When they
are put in these tanks, they are often put with multiple other captured orca whales. On top of being all
crammed together in a tiny space, they do not speak the same language. This creates a lot of confusion
between the orca whales and a lot of times hostility towards one another. All in all the orca whales are
forced into a new enclosed environment with other orca whales who are distressed as well. In the film
Blackfish, it shows at one point a whale being so distressed that he began to harm the whale that was
in the tank with him by biting the poor whale and slamming it against the tanks walls. This is a
common result of the social strife of these whales. Orcas are often cut, raked, and rammed by the
whales who have been there the longest, often seen as a form of seniority. In one particularly brutal
example, Kandu V, a female orca at Sea World, bled to death after 11 years in captivity when an artery
was severed at the upper jaw. The wound was self inflicted as she collided with another whale in a
display of dominance. Over the next 45 minutes, and in view of the public, she slowly bled out,
spouting blood from her blowhole until she died (OrcaProject). So not only does captivity lead to
aggression on other whales, it leads to aggression on themselves. There was a video

Reading Note On Reading Comprehension
Reading Fluency: Refers to the ability to decode words accurately, effortlessly, using correct volume,
phrasing and appropriate intonation at a reasonably rapid rate. There are three main components of
fluency including speed, accuracy and prosody, which is using expression when reading. Since the
reader is reading automatically he is able to focus on the comprehension of text. Fluency refers to the
ability to maintain accurate reading of connected text at a conversational rate with appropriate
prosody. The reader is not easily distracted and reads in an effortless flowing manner.
Automaticity: Refers to the ability to read words automatically with little cognitive effort. Slow word
recognition distracts the reader from building comprehension of the text. If reading is automatic,
reading comprehension is possible although not guaranteed. Students with language delays frequently
have automatic word recognition but have difficulty with comprehension.
Reading Rate: Reading rate is the fluent identification of individual words and the speed and fluidity
that a reader moves through connected text. It is usually calculated by either the number of words read
correctly per minute or the length of time it takes for a reader to complete a passage.
Prosody: is a linguistic term that refers to the rhythm and tonal aspects of speech; the musicality of
language. It includes variations in intonation, syllable prominence, and duration. Applying prosody

In early pregnancy nausea and vomiting (NV), begins around four weeks of gestation, and continues
to around twelve weeks of gestation. Lee and Saha (2011) estimate the number of women
experiencing these symptoms to between 70 and 80%. Though, some women continue to experience
NV until the sixteenth week. Few women continue to experience these symptoms into the third
trimester. According to Stables and Rankin (2010), the pathogenesis of NV symptoms are not clear,
but it believed that hormones progesterone and human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), contribute to
these symptoms (Lee Saha, 2011). Lee and Saha (2011) suggest that NV is enhanced under the
stimulus of hCG. It peaks in the second trimester between twelve and fourteen weeks of pregnancy.
During pregnancy women experience an increased appetite and cravings, or distaste of other food
types (Niebyl, 2010). It is theorised that NV in pregnancy occurs due to evolutionary change, it s
advantageous to pregnant women by avoiding food which may contain microorganisms or unsafe
toxins. The relationship between hCG and NVP are linked into protection of the vital development and
formation of the embryo in the early to second trimester of pregnancy by avoiding potentially harmful
foods (Lee Saha, 2011).

nature and humanity. The focus is on self; self reliance; and independence. Romantic authors, such as
Ralph Waldo Emerson, were strong influencers for these beliefs. Emerson once said, A man in debt is
so far a slave. The wants of man are an insatiable desire. People are practically enslaved to debt as if
they let it lead their lives, which is an extremely common lifestyle in today s society. Ralph Waldo
Emerson uses Nature and Self Reliance to give an insight on transcendental beliefs, while Jon

Architects Are Influenced By Different Events, Memories,...
Architects are all influenced by different events, memories, and experiences. Some architects have a

some use modern designs or arches and columns. Other architects are inspired by an idea and then

whether they were influenced by an event in their life or by a dream; many architects were directly
and indirectly influenced by the Bauhaus. The Bauhaus was founded in Germany, in 1919 by the

Gropius realized that technology was the way of the future and he imagined a world where art and
technology could be unified as one. The creation of the school was a long process and included the
help of many other people, but because of Gropius intelligence and strong passion to educate the
younger generations, the Bauhaus was successful.
The Bauhaus taught many ideas, principles, and design techniques. The main ideas taught were how to
use simple techniques and raw materials to create a complex project. The new perceptual structure is
funded on the constituent elements of visual registration: dot, line, extent, position, direction. All
components and courses related to the Bauhaus were simplistic, yet thoughtful. For example, the
notorious symbol for the Bauhaus Press is a mark containing the combination of a large circle with a

Implementing A Structured And Organised Fashion
When a major development is introduced in to the laboratory a number of key factors such as
processes, equipment, personnel, premises and documentation need to be considered. In order to
consider these factors in a structured and organised fashion, a project plan with clear objectives and
validation requirements for the project should be undertaken.
The project plan should also include information on the team that will be involved in the project, any
resources that are required, specific tasks that need to be completed and a time scale for each section
of the project. As a result, the project plan provides the appropriate procedures to ensure that a safe
and high quality service will be provided throughout the implementation of the major development.5
In order to formulate the project plan, the relevant guidelines and regulations should be consulted. The
guidelines vary depending on the type of laboratory the project is being undertaken in as different
areas of transfusion, transplantation and tissue banking are accredited by different regulatory bodies.
The Eudralex Volume 4 (GMP) is a European directive, which is translated into the Rules and

The Impact Of Native Americans In The Novel Solar Storms
It is obvious that Americans have had an impact on Native American cultures, but most people do not
realize the true extent of the matter. Many Native Americans lives have changed drastically because of
the careless actions of the Americans and the American government. The novel Solar Storms shows
that Native Americans have experienced only negative influence from Americans. In the novel,
American colonization and industrialization threatens Angel and her family s way of life by
threatening to destroy their surrounding land and nature. This has the most effect on the Native
Americans. Before the construction of the dams even begin, nature is affected greatly by non native

The Americans actions not only altered the land, but also people s lives, leaving many people without
a home. When Angel is at Adam s Rib, the American government does not require the permission of
the Native Americans for people to take or alter the land they live on. Angel takes notice that, Without
permission, roads had been built (58). In Angel s tribe, the people are unaware of the construction of
new dams until some random men make their way to Adam s Rib to warn the people. Because of this,
the native people were left no choice but to protest against the construction, even though there was
little hope. After one of the workers speaks, Angel says that, his words made clear that if the
corporation and government had their ways, the Indian people had no say on this matter, no power to
reverse what had already been decided by men with other ways (279). After protesting for a while, the
Native Americans are forced to fight the construction in the court system of the American government.
The court system which is often biased. Tulik tells Angel, I want the judge to listen to me. I ll have to
look like one of them (342). This is the reason he gets his hair cut before he goes to court. In their
case, It took more than a year before the building of the dams ceased . (344). Although they win the
court case, the Native Americans are still forced to adapt to the culture of the white men. Many natives

Battle Of The Confederate Essay
In the heat of battle, against her own people, America fights the most destructive war to the country,
which killed more of her own lives than any other war in history. The United States, not nearly as
united as before, started splitting in two when in 1860, South Carolina seceded from the Union,
quickly followed by other Southern states, forming the 11th state, the Confederacy. Since the Southern
states used agriculture done by slaves as their economy, when Northern states started opposing slavery
s extension into the West, the Southerners feared they would lose their main money source. The
Confederacy was founded upon the truth that the Negro does not equal the white man (The Civil War).

The Army of the Potomac was the largest Union Army in the Civil War, and it fought in many
important battles ( Army Of The Potomac ). The Confederate cavalry was said to have given three
options when being faced run, surrender, or die. The Federal cavalry knew they had to improve their
unequipped and unorganized fighting force if they were ever going to get a chance to claim victory.
Hooker s ultimate goal was to crush Robert E. Lee in battle, so he took the cavalry, reformed it, and
made it a new force of over 2,000 men, which acted as a single body ( The Battle of Kelly s Ford
Summary Facts ). This was the largest cavalry force to be put together by a lone commander up to that
point. Control of this force was given to Averell. With this new army, they would have a chance to
change the course of the war in their favor. After the renovation, Hooker wanted a place to test his new
brigade and turn the tables on the Confederates, so he chose Fitzhugh Lee s fort at Kelly s Ford on the
Rappahannock River. He figured he could show the Confederates how good the Unions can be if they
are organized. Now that the battle was set in place, the real course changing fight could

It was 60 years ago, John Lennon told the band to play.

creating hits such as hard days night(she loves you) to let it be from the 1960s to the end of 1969,

By the end of the day, lennon was walking back home with a friend of his, refusing to take the bus
back home as a fellow bandmate asked Lennon, what did he think of that kid, paul . Lennon replied
him that he liked him(Paul) and thought he was really good, the questions then turned around into
john asking whether they should ask Paul to join the band with him, but john already knew the answer
he needed before needing a reply from his bandmate.

Self Assessments At Good Fitness
After doing some self assessments I would say my current fitness level is at good fitness. I would say
this because about two months ago I passed all of the self assessments I took part in except for the
body fat percentage one. By the end of the school year I hope to have and I hope to be more on the
high performance side of fitness. I also hope to have joined several other sports and to go to the gym
more often. Recently I fractured my clavicle so that has restricted what I could do as far as physical
activity goes. When I fractured my clavicle I was in the middle of football season and was maintaining
a level of good fitness since I was working out six days out of the week. Now that I have not been able

Jetblue Customer Service Delivery Breakdown
Introduction
This paper hopes to delve into the Jetblue Customer Service delivery breakdown, from February 14,
2007, that nearly caused the company to collapse. It will look at the customer service aspect and
compare the expectations of what the customer had come to expect and what the company actually
delivered. It will look into the customer service, that lead to JetBlue s early success and competitive
edge against other airlines. It will examine if the Low Cost Airline can continue to maintain its High
Frills Status. It will look at the impact the breakdown had on the customers, stakeholders, the role
ambiguity on how the employees and managers used to handle situations with their wait and see
mentality, and the lack of perceived situational control from its employees. We will attempt to predict
what JetBlue should try and prepare for and I will give my personal opinion on JetBlue s response to
the breakdown in service in regards to the customer service communication gap and my
recommendations with moving forward.
Airline Deregulation
In order to effectively evaluate the incident, the whole picture must be examined. A mere 20 years
after the Airline Deregulation Act in1978, which removed government control from the Civil
Aeronautics Board (CAB), which had up to that time controlled all entry and exit into the market,
pricing of services the airlines provided as well as mergers, and dealing with all customer issues
(Smith, Cox, 2008).

  • 2. Iowa State Persuasive Speech Hey Coach, Iowa State is going great. The classes are alright, but I enjoy going to most of them. I am taking advantage of the facilities and I am back in the weight room. All the techniques and lifts you taught me are really making it easier now that I am lifting without a coach. I thank you for all the time and effort you put into the lifting program so I know what I am doing here at Iowa State. The main reason that I am writing you is to share this with the seniors at North Scott High School. Particularly, the seniors who are struggling to pick the place they will be spending the next four years of their lives. It is the beginning of the school year and the seniors who already have a plan are ready to go but the seniors who don t are scared for the future. I encourage the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It can be intimidating knowing that there are 36,000 students enrolled at Iowa State, but it is not as big as it seems. The students would find that even though Iowa State is a big school, there are certain places that can really make it feel like home. There are certain spots around campus that scream Iowa State like Hilton Coliseum, Jack Trice Stadium, and you can t forget the Memorial Union with the view of the Campineal right past the fountain. Those places are a sight to see and one of the perks of the campus, but that is not the spot I enjoy most about the Iowa State campus. The place that is really special to me personally are the Larch dorms. The fifth floor in particular. It is the place where I spend most of my time, and yes that is because it is where I am living, but I really enjoy living here. The dorm environment is great. You meet tons of new people and on the fifth floor of Larch, everyone s door is always open. Even if you are not in the dorms, there are still multiple opportunities to meet new people. • 3. Pornography, Erotica, and Nude Art – There Is a Difference... Pornography is a subject that has always been argued and stirs up controversy almost anywhere it may arise. There are people who are against it, and would like to ban all pornography for the benefit of everyone, while there are those who defend it, claiming it is part of their guaranteed free speech, to express themselves in a manner of their choosing. With the issue of pornography being debated and spoken of, one major mistake people make is that they look at pornography according to their own views. Different types of people look at pornography differently, and therefore create their own definition of pornography in their minds. Usually, pornography tends to be mistaken with nude art and erotica, so some people consider erotic as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So the students were then allowed to look at the subject s breasts and ponder the importance of nude art as they made replicas of the woman in a graceful, artistic, position. The students probably submitted a signed note from their parents to be involved in the sculpture session, because I do not know of any public school that would allow its students to take part in this type of class during school hours, on school grounds. The woman s nudity is considered as art because she is posing for an art class, which was allowed by a public school, although I highly do not think that it would actually happen. Nude art s purpose is to portray the human body as an art form, and not an object of sexuality or arousal. Both pornography and erotica have the main purpose to sexually stimulate people, but pornography does not show the emotional connection between the individuals involved in the sexual acts, while erotica does. Erotica is just like nude art, except that erotica possesses no artistic value, and art does contain an artistic value that is accepted by everyone. There is a form of art called erotic art that I guess is a mixture of erotica and nude art. But if guidelines were to be set by the government, art forms that could be on the borderline of erotic art could be easier to distinguish. Pornography is not classified as nude art at all, and nude art is not pornography. Pornography just has the sole ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Hawala Extortion Method HAWALA INTRODUCTION [pic] Among the methods terrorists worldwide use to move money from regions that finance them to target countries some hardly leave any traceable trail. As regulators learned recently, one of the weak points in the payments chain through which illicit funds can enter is a system of traditional trust based banking originating in southern Asia which is known as hawala. • 5. Free Will In The Movie The Truman Show In Philosophy The Truman Show in Philosophy In the movie The Truman Show Truman Burbank is the main character where he has lived all of his life in the small town of Seahaven . There Truman has lived all of his life believing that he is living a normal life, but his whole life he has been filmed and watched by the whole world. His reality was the town and the universal reality was apart of watching him in his daily life and his reality. The Truman Show is an example of the concept of Free Will because Truman has no idea free will in his world, everything is tailored so that he does not have any say in what really happens in his life. Descartes states that with free will that we tried to doubt all things and even supposed that He who created us employed His unlimited powers in deceiving us in every way, . Truman is seen as the good, innocent and pure of how the world should be. Christof, the director of the show, states The world, the place you live in is a sick place. Seahaven is the way the world should be. . Christof is portraying God, he controls everything that is going on in the life of Truman. Ed Helms, the actor playing Christof, says that Christof is a godlike figure he oversees everything and has been with Truman from birth. This concept of free will and the actors that set up his everyday routine sets up Platos Allegory of the Cave . • 6. Short Story Of The Little Mermaid Ever since Prince Eric severely stabbed Ursula with his ship, everyone thought she died. However, he managed to summon enough energy to return to her lair and leave Atlantica. Since she was so sickly, she needed a new henchman to help her become who she was before. Or in this case, a henchwoman; me. Let me explain how this all began. I met Ursula on my trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. She wanted to set up a new lair somewhere unknown and away from Triton s rule, and decided on Mexico since his Empire was near the European seas. My family went to a tourist attraction where underwater caves lead to a hidden beach. I usually like to pick up shells from beaches I visit, so I brought some gear to find some treasures. While underwater, I found a shell, glowing like the sun, and as large as my hand. Finally! Someone found my shell. I was starting to wonder if humans were stupid... a voice muttered quietly. I looked around confused, thinking someone was nearby. This isn t your ordinary shell, but that s not important right now, the voice said, My name is Ursula. I need your help, and I think you d like my offer. Ursula? Like from The Little Mermaid? I replied. Ugh, that horrid film. That movie doesn t explain everything, but yes Ursula sighed. Long story short, Ursula needed help gaining her full powers back after her brawl with Prince Eric and Ariel. I agreed to aid her after she explained that as a girl she was shunned from the mermaid society for being a cecaelia; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(Palowski, 2000) In the 21st century, there is a rising impatience within the economy. Investors are no longer interested in long term and sustaining companies, but most of the businesses are aiming to do quickly and get acquired within a short period, which are the Build to flip companies. The male actors who are playing female roles, only Angelica in this scene, are wearing a garment of female clothing from the props cupboard, a feather boa or a hat or jewellery lipstick? The female actors playing male roles (Antonio, Page and Pedro) will have their hair tired up in a bun, if possible and wear the beige shirts found in the store cupboard over their black trousers and tops as well as the suit jackets that we will supply. This scene occurs during a Masquerade Ball so each actor should either be wearing or holding a mask. In this scene, the stereotypes of gender are accentuated and emphasized. This will be done through the use of body language, hand gestures and the manipulation of voice. The female actors will stand with their legs apart and the hips thrust slightly forward, when possible they will use large hand gestures when they speak. The voice should be in a lower register to usual, if this is possible, and should be projected so that the audience feels an air of authority. • 9. Animals In The Trojan War As we discussed in class, the Iliad s mortals lie between gods and animals in their thoughts and actions, and often struggle to overcome their baser instincts in the pursuit of god like wisdom and power. However, the events of the Trojan War paradoxically suggest that in order to attain divine glory heroes must become increasingly bestial, slowly losing their humanity as the battle drags on. Homer makes the inhuman ferocity of his heroes obvious, most notably in frequent similes comparing various fighters to predators. These comparisons are more frequent and violent as the war escalates. During the peak of Agamemnon s fury in battle, he is compared to a lion [seizing] the innocent young of the running deer...and [ripping] out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although the Achaians and the Trojans place high value on honor earned in battle, multiple characters comment on the futility of war. While in combat, Menelaos angrily declares that the Trojans will never be satisfied with their accomplishments in war, directly contrasting it with more humane activities such as song and dance. Even Achilleus admits, There [is] no gratitude given for fighting incessantly forever against your enemies...A man dies still if he has done nothing, as one who has done much (9.316 318). However, the heroes recognition of the wasteful, unending nature of war is ultimately meaningless, as emotion drives them to fight even when logic would tell them to turn back. This is what separates the humans from the gods gods have some control over their emotions, while humans, like animals, are completely beholden to them. This contrast is clearest in Book 16, where Zeus ultimately masters his own sadness over his son Sarpedon s impending death and allows fate to take its course, while Patroklos, in a huge blind fury (16.685), forgets Achilleus s orders and pursues the Trojans, leading to his demise. In books that I have read in school in the past that dealt with bullying were far worse than what people consider bullying today. While the GDP has its strengths it also has its weakness because its quality is not computed and distributive aspects are ignored. Physical Experience In High School Walking down the cold, smelly hallways of Dutchtown high School with my freshly ironed khaki pants, purple polo style button up, and new burnt orange and white saucony shoes, I was ready for school. This was a very unusually hot august day with a high of 98 degrees. As I got off the bus, I felt the sun rays beaming down on my head. I couldn t get to the cafeteria door before I started to sweat profusely. The 7:25 bell rung to go to class. I walked to my 1st hour class and saw a short, baldheaded, dark skinned man with a whistle around his neck. Before anyone could even come into the classroom, the teacher told everyone make sure their IDs are on.I sat in my desk and didn t pay any attention to what the man had just said. The entire class sent a wave of disgust and disappointment throughout the whole school. Looking like a group of zombies we walked slowly and unenthusiastically towards the high school s field. • 15. The Age Of Reason By Thomas Paine Thomas Paine was an influential 18th century writer of essays and pamphlets. Among them were The Age of Reason, regarding the place of religion in society; Rights of Man, a piece defending the French Revolution; and Common Sense, which was published during the American Revolution. Common Sense, Paine s most influential piece, brought his ideas to a vast audience, swaying (the otherwise undecided) public opinion to the view that independence from the British was a necessity. Thomas Paine was born in England in 1737, to a Quaker father and an Anglican mother. Paine received little formal education, but did learn to read, write and perform arithmetic. At the age of 13, he began working with his father as stay maker (the thick rope stays used on sailing ships) and he later worked as an officer of the excise, hunting smugglers, and collecting liquor and tobacco taxes. He did not excel at this job, nor at any other early job, and his life in England was, in fact, marked by repeated failures. To compound his professional hardships, around 1760, Paine s wife and child both died in childbirth, and his business, that of making stay ropes, went under. In the summer of 1772, Paine published The Case of the Officers of Excise, a 21 page article in defense of higher pay for excise officers. It was his first political work, and he spent that winter in London, handing out the 4,000 copies of the article to members of Parliament and other citizens. In spring of 1774, Paine was ... Unlike Nurse Ratched, McMurphy was clearly acting as part of a group rather than as an autonomous element. His leadership role in the group can be nicely illustrated throughout the novel in terms of his relationship to other patients (Lena). Whether it was persuading patients to go deep sea fishing, inviting prostitutes to the ward, or changing the cleaning schedule to watch the World Series, McMurphy centralizes his actions around a group. He cares more about the patients as he does himself, as he was willing to risk his life for George in the bathhouse. When speaking to the nurses to protect George, McMurphy states, You goddamned coon, McMurphy said, somehow sounding more tired than mad... McMurphy raised his voice. Goddamned motherfucking n**! What Is The Domino Theory Related To The Vietnam War During World War II there was a total of about 40 days of combat in four years, whereas during the Vietnam War there were 240 days of combat in one year. The Vietnam War was both devastating and deceiving. America was not able to successfully save South Vietnam from communist rule, and yet they still suffered a great amount of loss. The Vietnam War presented a plethora of issue to the United States and Southeast Asia. The United States suffered a lot of casualties and the U.S. lost a lot of money. Temperature And Solubility At what temperature is more KCl able to dissolve: 40°C or 90°C? 90 C since with the KCl we found that the higher the temperature the more likely the substance is to have greater solubility. How is temperature related to the solubility of a salt? Explain your answer. Solubility increases with temperature because the increase in kinetic energy allows the solvent molecules to break apart the solute molecules that are held together by intermolecular attractions. Which salt is more soluble, KCl or NH4Cl? Explain your answer. NH4Cl since the data shows us that it requires less heat than KCl to fully dissolve. • 21. The Monetary System in Early America The support, which Mr. Franklin s Modest Enquiry has raised, for a large addition of paper bills, to the current circulating coinage, is alarming in of itself, and, added to the quickness with which the commoner entrusts himself to Mr. Franklin s opinions, has the opportunity to bring ruin and poverty upon our nation. His arguments for such a hasty addition are hinged upon the fact that this nation is now in want of money. Is this true, fellow countrymen? Are we not a prosperous nation, by the blessings of Him who sanctifies us with His dedications? Do we not receive pilgrims, from the shores of the eastern world, who wish to share in our fortune? The honorable Mr. Franklin no doubt intends well with his illustrious pamphlet; however, I find myself obligated to explain the failings in his otherwise eloquent Enquiry. Firstly, Mr. Franklin s opening consideration reads as follows, A great Want of Money in any Trading Country, occasions Interest to be at a very high Rate. As a foundation for this assertion, he argues that men, in a time that occasions severe measures, are forced to demand high interest, even to eight and ten percent. In his resulting argument, Mr. Franklin has made a hazardous error in overlooking an ostensibly obvious exemption to his initial statement. Soccer was a sport that never gained traction in the United States until recently, and this is likely due to the American public who never appears to support a sport/club unless they show signs of success in competition. Unfortunately, one of the downsides of the American public only caring about the winners, is that even though soccer has existed in America for so long, they have not been popular due to the lack of success, which is tied directly to the inability to recruit talented athletes to play in MLS or the FIFA national team. However, while the popularity of soccer in the United States is still relatively low in comparison to certain sports, their popularity is on the rise. Well, for many Californians that rely on failing water pumps, many of them haven t taken a shower in over two to five months. All in all the orca whales are forced into a new enclosed environment with other orca whales who are distressed as well. In the film Blackfish, it shows at one point a whale being so distressed that he began to harm the whale that was in the tank with him by biting the poor whale and slamming it against the tanks walls. • 42. Architects Are Influenced By Different Events, Memories,... Architects are all influenced by different events, memories, and experiences. Some architects have a general theme to their design. For example, many architects only create buildings in certain materials; some use modern designs or arches and columns. Other architects are inspired by an idea and then expand on this idea to create something unique. All architects are inspired in some way or another, whether they were influenced by an event in their life or by a dream; many architects were directly and indirectly influenced by the Bauhaus. The Bauhaus was founded in Germany, in 1919 by the architect Walter Gropius. Gropius realized that technology was the way of the future and he imagined a world where art and technology could be unified as one. The creation of the school was a long process and included the help of many other people, but because of Gropius intelligence and strong passion to educate the younger generations, the Bauhaus was successful. The Bauhaus taught many ideas, principles, and design techniques. The main ideas taught were how to use simple techniques and raw materials to create a complex project. The new perceptual structure is funded on the constituent elements of visual registration: dot, line, extent, position, direction. All components and courses related to the Bauhaus were simplistic, yet thoughtful. For example, the notorious symbol for the Bauhaus Press is a mark containing the combination of a large circle with a smaller triangle and rectangle. The triangle and rectangle are used to create an arrow within a circle. The logo itself is composed of the simplest shapes, but still conveys a larger meaning. Most of the classes were also taught using everyday materials and ideas like cardboard, fonts, grids, and shapes. The Bauhaus was centered on a common language for visual communication. All students needed a fundamental basis before moving forward in expression and creation. • 43. Implementing A Structured And Organised Fashion When a major development is introduced in to the laboratory a number of key factors such as processes, equipment, personnel, premises and documentation need to be considered. In order to consider these factors in a structured and organised fashion, a project plan with clear objectives and validation requirements for the project should be undertaken. The project plan should also include information on the team that will be involved in the project, any resources that are required, specific tasks that need to be completed and a time scale for each section of the project. As a result, the project plan provides the appropriate procedures to ensure that a safe and high quality service will be provided throughout the implementation of the major development.5 In order to formulate the project plan, the relevant guidelines and regulations should be consulted. The guidelines vary depending on the type of laboratory the project is being undertaken in as different areas of transfusion, transplantation and tissue banking are accredited by different regulatory bodies. The Eudralex Volume 4 (GMP) is a European directive, which is translated into the Rules and Guidance for Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Distributors (2014), commonly referred to as the Orange Guide . • 45. Battle Of The Confederate Essay In the heat of battle, against her own people, America fights the most destructive war to the country, which killed more of her own lives than any other war in history. The United States, not nearly as united as before, started splitting in two when in 1860, South Carolina seceded from the Union, quickly followed by other Southern states, forming the 11th state, the Confederacy. Since the Southern states used agriculture done by slaves as their economy, when Northern states started opposing slavery s extension into the West, the Southerners feared they would lose their main money source. The Confederate cavalry was said to have given three options when being faced run, surrender, or die. The Federal cavalry knew they had to improve their unequipped and unorganized fighting force if they were ever going to get a chance to claim victory. Hooker s ultimate goal was to crush Robert E. Lee in battle, so he took the cavalry, reformed it, and made it a new force of over 2,000 men, which acted as a single body ( The Battle of Kelly s Ford Summary Facts ). This was the largest cavalry force to be put together by a lone commander up to that point. Control of this force was given to Averell. With this new army, they would have a chance to change the course of the war in their favor. After the renovation, Hooker wanted a place to test his new brigade and turn the tables on the Confederates, so he chose Fitzhugh Lee s fort at Kelly s Ford on the Rappahannock River. He figured he could show the Confederates how good the Unions can be if they are organized. Now that the battle was set in place, the real course changing fight could ... • 49. Jetblue Customer Service Delivery Breakdown Introduction This paper hopes to delve into the Jetblue Customer Service delivery breakdown, from February 14, 2007, that nearly caused the company to collapse. It will look at the customer service aspect and compare the expectations of what the customer had come to expect and what the company actually delivered. It will look into the customer service, that lead to JetBlue s early success and competitive edge against other airlines. It will examine if the Low Cost Airline can continue to maintain its High Frills Status. It will look at the impact the breakdown had on the customers, stakeholders, the role ambiguity on how the employees and managers used to handle situations with their wait and see mentality, and the lack of perceived situational control from its employees. We will attempt to predict what JetBlue should try and prepare for and I will give my personal opinion on JetBlue s response to the breakdown in service in regards to the customer service communication gap and my recommendations with moving forward. Airline Deregulation In order to effectively evaluate the incident, the whole picture must be examined. A mere 20 years after the Airline Deregulation Act in1978, which removed government control from the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB), which had up to that time controlled all entry and exit into the market, pricing of services the airlines provided as well as mergers, and dealing with all customer issues (Smith, Cox, 2008).
