At First Reading Mary Shelley’S Novel Frankenstein Appears
At first reading Mary Shelley s novel Frankenstein appears to be part of the gothic or horror genre, but
further examination of this novel reveals many concepts and perspectives that are related to other
genres of English literature. Along with possessing various conceptual ideas this novel brilliantly
highlights the characteristics of men, which many authors have credited Mary Shelley s understanding
of the opposite gender as exceptional. Throughout this novel there can be identified three male
characters that are used to tell the tale by Mary Shelley. These three characters are Captain Robert
Walton, Victor Frankenstein and the monster. However, these characters portray different perspectives,
but they all have various similarities and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Victor Frankenstein s story and death completely changed the perspective of Robert Walton and
instead of carrying on his expedition of discovery, he turned back to travel home. It is past; I am
returning to England. I have lost my hopes of utility and glory; I have lost my friend (Shelley, 160).
Victor Frankenstein was in the eyes of Walton a person who is similar to him, but uplifted Walton s
weary heart as he faced challenges along the expedition. He excites at once my admiration and my
pity to an astonishing degree (Shelley, 11). Along with the thirst of discovery of the unknown, Victor
Frankenstein is also involved in an act of romance towards Elizabeth Lavenza, who he loved dearly
my more than sister, since till death she was to be mine only (Shelley, 18). Victor was raised in a
loving household and was privileged to receive higher education at the university of Ingolstadt.
Further analysis of his character show evidence that Frankenstein is egotistical, for he isolates himself
from his family and society to create the monster that later he despises (Marklund,6). Thus, ignoring
his duties towards his family as his father said to him, I know that while you are pleased with yourself,
you will think of us with affection, and we shall hear regularly from you. You must pardon me if I
regard any interruption in your correspondence as a proof that your other duties are

Introduction to Mexico
INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this paper is to evaluate Mexico and the possibility of internationalization. In order to
make an informed decision about such a country, the benefits, costs and risks of the venture must be
considered. In this paper, we will analyze Mexico s economy, political structure, culture and
management techniques. By examining these factors an American firm should be able to make a
decision based on Mexico and the type of business considering a move into Mexico. This paper will
show that a company can not internationalize into Mexico due to the lower costs of labor only. A more
all encompassing approach is necessary to make a proper decision. A study of all aspects must be done
and then the decision can be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some farming takes place on the steep mountain coast and much of the gold of the Aztec Empire is
believed to have come from this region.
The Chiapas highlands have great blocklike mountains that rise more than 9,000 feet above sea level.
This region consists of relatively flat surfaces at high attitudes called the tablelands, which are farmed
by Indians who speak Maya and other ancient languages. With irrigation, farmers grow coffee, fruits,
and other crops.
Yucatan Peninsula is a low limestone plateau with no rivers. Limestone dissolves in the water and
rainfall reaches the sea through underground channels dissolved out of the rock. Great pits have
formed where the roofs of these channels have fallen in and these huge pits were sacred wells of the
ancient Mayas Indians. The north part of the region is dry bushland. To the south, the rainfall
increases, and tropical rain forests cover the land.
Climate
The climate of Mexico varies sharply from region to region. Dry conditions exist over the whole
northern border from the Pacific to the Gulf of Mexico and over the north central region southward to
about 22 degree north latitude. Rainfall gradually increases as you travel farther south from 22 degrees
north latitude until the southern most tip of Mexico where there are rainforests.
The northern half of Mexico is usually dry and consists largely of deserts and semideserts. The lack of
rainfall has limited agricultural development in the

Analysis Of Anne Bradstreet And Edward Taylor
Anne Bradstreet and Edward Taylor are two of the most distinguished and fervent Puritan poets. Yet
this similarity has proven to be one of the few, if not only between these two. One cannot help but find
it intriguing that poets who belong to the same religious group and style would write so differently.
Many of these differences are not even subtle or hidden beneath the text itself. The differences
themselves hold implications and ideas that differ between each poet. The first difference which is the
most obvious would be the style of each respected poet. Every poet has a unique style, but generally
those who belong to the same period or set of ideas have similar styles. Between Bradstreet and Taylor
there are no similarities in style. Taylor can be considered a much more polished poet. Taylor s poetry
is full of poetic techniques and advanced styling tools such as the iambic meter and advanced rhyming
schemes. This style can be seen as the norm for a highly educated preacher which Taylor was.
Bradstreet on the other hand has a more simplistic style that can be seen as the voice of the common
or average Puritan. Therefore, there is far less ornamentation in her poetry. If one compares the
Bradstreet s Here Follows Some Verses Upon the Burning of Our House, July 10th, 1666. and Taylor s

diction while tackling the topic of her burning house. She uses simple and

Gallstone Case Study
The prevalence of gallstones varies with the geographical region. In the western world, the rates range
from approximately 8% in men to 16% in women.3 The typical course of cholelithiasis often begins as
asymptomatic gallstones found incidentally on imaging studies. However, 2% of asymptomatic
patients become symptomatic per year.8 Biliary colic is the most common symptom to manifest and
approximately 20 40% of patients have recurring pain.8 Asymptomatic patients who have calcified
gallbladders or large stones 2cm have a greater risk for gallbladder carcinoma and as a result these
patients are recommended to have prophylactic cholecystectomy.8 Medical treatment is only advised
for certain types of patients and is not the ideal treatment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The initial plan started with ordering a CBC, CMP, amylase and lipase STAT. These are all standard
labs that help to rule out gallbladder pathology as well as our other differential diagnoses. Her vital
signs were stable and the physical exam revealed only moderate TTP of the RUQ and epigastric
region. The lab results revealed no leukocytosis, no elevation of liver enzymes, bilirubin, amylase,
lipase, alk phos or any other signs of cholecystitis, cholangitis, pancreatitis or other potential signs of
infection. The plan of care began with keeping the patient NPO. This is recommended as this keeps
the patient from further pain secondary to food stimulating gallbladder contraction.5 It also allows the
patient to be prepared for surgery if urgent cholecystectomy is required. The next step was beginning
IV normal saline to keep her well hydrated. After this we began to give her medication through the IV
including Zofran for her nausea. Zofran is an effective anti emetic and there were no contraindications
for use in this patient. We also gave her Morphine 2 mg IV for pain control. Opioids are an effective
option for a patient with significant biliary colic.6 Although NSAIDS are another option for pain
control, PUD was part of the differential diagnosis so NSAIDS were not an appropriate therapy. We
ordered an abdominal ultrasound as this is the diagnostic test of choice for cholelithiasis. The
ultrasound revealed multiple gallstones in the gallbladder, some mild gallbladder thickening, and some
dilatation of the common bile duct. At this point we consulted GI who scheduled the patient for MRCP
in the morning in order rule out choledocholithiaisis. We also consulted the surgery team who
admitted the patient. The stated they would likely plan for laparoscopic

Censorship is a Personal Decision Essay
Censorship is a Personal Decision
One man s vulgarity is another s lyric. Justice John M. Harlan, Cohen v. California (1971)
It is probably no accident that freedom of speech is the first freedom mentioned in the First
Amendment: Congress shall make no law...abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or of the
people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. The
Constitution s framers believed that freedom of inquiry and liberty of expression were the hallmarks
of a democratic society. Freedom of speech, of the press, of association, of assembly and petition this

Thus, freedom of expression is an end in itself and as such, deserves society s greatest protection. It is
vital to the attainment and advancement of knowledge, and the search for the truth. The eminent 19th
century writer and civil libertarian, John Stuart Mill, contended that enlightened judgment is possible
only if one considers all facts and ideas, from whatever source, and tests one s own conclusions
against opposing views. Therefore, all points of view even those that are bad or socially harmful
should be represented in society s marketplace of ideas. It is necessary to our system of self
government and gives the American people a checking function against government excess and
corruption. If the American people are to be the masters of their fate and of their elected government,
they must be well informed and have access to all information, ideas and points of view. Mass
ignorance is a breeding ground for oppression and tyranny.
Beginning in the 1980 s, religious fundamentalists and some parents groups have waged a persistent
campaign to limit the variety of cultural messages available to American youth by attacking the

The Mists of Avalon, by Marion Zimmer Bradley Essay
The Mists of Avalon, by Marion Zimmer Bradley
The Mists of Avalon, by Marion Zimmer Bradley, is not only an example of a Medieval Romance, but
also tells the story of the women who stood behind King Arthur during his infamous reign in the
Middle Ages. The term Medieval Romance does not necessarily mean that the piece using it contains
any sort of romance. There are three criteria that must be meet to form a Medieval Romance. (1) The
plot must divide into sharply separate episodes that often do not seem joined in any obvious casual
fashion. (2) The plots generally take the form of tests that they must pass to attain form goal. (3) The
protagonist fails tests, which often involve acts of moral and spiritual perception, until such a point ...

Even though the believers In Avalon thought well of the Christian, the Christians despised those from
Avalon, and thought of them as evil. Viviane, a woman, is the High Priestess of Avalon. It was she,
following the wishes of the Goddess, who set Arthur on the Throne. The High Priestess seats Arthur
on the throne in the hope that he will protect the rites and traditions of Avalon. Old Arthurian Legends
were always told from a Christian man s perspective, the Lady of the Lake is looked on as an evil
sorceress. In The Mists of Avalon, however, we see Viviane s actions through Viviane s eyes. This new
perspective allows us to see that Viviane worked only for the good of the people and is not evil. It is in
this feminine perspective that we are given more insight into Arthurian Legend.
Camelot and Avalon were alive in the time of knights, and of war and conquest. Old Arthurian Legend
is full of tales about an individual knight s prowess. Tales of bloody battles, and of long quests with
many duels are very common. They also told of great battles with foreign invaders. Long battles full
of gore and great detail. In The Mists of Avalon there are many battles against such invaders. Most
notably of such battles are the Saxons. The Saxons try to take over the lands of High and Les Britain.

Student Republican Party Platform Essay
Preamble
The dawn of a new millennium is upon us and we, the Republican Party, are fully prepared to meet the
challenges that await us. This past century, due to the resilience and determination of the American
people, our country has experienced more growth and prosperity than any other nation in recorded
history. However, dark challenges threaten the moral fiber of this great nation. The past eight years,
under Clinton s leadership, the national government has lacked the fortitude to effectively battle the
dangerously extremist trends that have gradually forced their way into the American culture. In order
for America to be the great nation it once was, the Republican Party must be in power.
The Republican Party has a vision ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With this reduction we have rekindled the belief in the American dream. Economic prosperity and
sound moral and family values have begun to be reinstated in all arenas of American life.
We believe there should be less government intrusion in the lives of Americans because only the
American people can decide what is best for them. We stand for a rollback of federal government
paternalism and intervention and instead call for an increased roll of the individual and a revitalization
of the American tradition of entrepreneurial innovation. The rise of the Republican Party to national
prominence will allow us to realize these goals and restore America to its former glory.
Federal Minimum Wage
We the Republican Party support the American workforce knowing that the future of the country rests
on a strong economy. To insure economic prosperity it is imperative that states have the freedom to act
accordingly to its economy. We as Americans, as workers, and as taxpayers should seek to quiet the
anxiety over labor and wages. We cannot be held to a standard that blankets the whole nation when it
is evident that each state is different. States must be allowed to evaluate the conditions of their
economy, unemployment, growth and other relative demographics and then should have the ability to
set the minimum wage.
The Republican Party strongly believes that government

The intended audience s form the video is intended for healthcare professionals, family members and
friends who care for dementia patients. Languagestyle used was appropriates for the target group. It
was simple, clear, without any medical terminology for the family members and friends who don t
understand diseases. The style of presentation , was good and effective as its engages its audience and
also attract their attention. The nature of the video makes it easy for the target group to understand
both the verbal and the non verbal communication skills used by Naomi Feli, the facial expression,
touch, body posture, talking, and the singing and how Gladys responded to all actions taken and goes
on the explain in details every action taken and its results.
The information in the video was of a quality , the language and style of the presentation was also
appropriate. According to Webb 2011, for one to establish good communication skills, one needs to
consider self awareness, pay attention for feedback and encourage response. This was demonstrated
clearly in the video. Music is the most influential intercession for the delivery of information to people
with dementia once the brain is damaged and they lose their verbal communication (Carson,
Vanderhorst and koenig, 2016).

Analysis Of Trouble With Harry Thhaw And Queer Theory
The article of my topic is Trouble With Harry Thaw and Queer Theory : Under Construction. Harry
Thaw is the son of a William Thaw and Mary Sibbet. Harry was born in Pittsburgh. He was born in
February 12th 1871 and died in February 22nd 1947. Thaw had 5 siblings which are Margaret, Alice
Cornelia, Edward, and Josiah. Thaw was discovered to have severe mental illness. This could be
genetics as his mother herself was known for the abuse she did to her servants and uncontrollable
temper. In this article, it is mentioned that he murdered an architect named Stanford White over
jealousy because White was having an affair with his wife which is Evelyn Nesbit. However, I would
say there is a reason of why Nesbit was not faithful to him. Nesbit wrote a book called Autobiography
Prodigal Days and mentioned a lot of negative habits about her husband. For instance, she stated in
her book that her husband is a sadist. This is because Thaw have sex very roughly in a punishing way
and he relates slaves to his wife while they were together. Nesbit mentioned that the sex was more of
an attack than actual love. Besides that, Nesbit says that he has cocaine addiction and thinks that his
masturbating routine might be one of the causes for his insanity. According to Nesbit, Thaw often
wants to feel superior and control around objects that he desires. Other than that, he gets excessively
jealous especially when Nesbit is around men. His excessive jealousy is abnormal as he murdered

Rebecca Harding Davis Life In The Iron Mills
Rebecca Harding Davis was a groundbreaking author whose work, Life in the Iron Mills, examined a
socioeconomic system that failed some while keeping others empowered. The issues of power and
social class that are embedded in the work prompts readers to look closer at the unskilled immigrant
laborers, whose living and working conditions were deplorable, and compare them to the capitalists
and wealthy mill owners whose financial success rested mainly on the workers who were being
marginalized. The narrator s call to the readers, Stop a moment...hide your disgust, take no heed to

Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia Essay
Congenital adrenal hyperplasia is a well known autosomal recessive disorder and the vast majority,
approximately 95%, of cases are due to a deficiency of 21 alpha hydroxylase. The other common type
of CAH is caused by a deficiency of 11 beta hydroxylase. In both types of the disorder, the adrenal
gland is unable to produce sufficient amounts of cortisol and aldosterone. CAH is estimated to
manifest in 1 of every 15,000 live births. In the United States, the prevalence of the disorder is lower
in African American children in comparison to Caucasians. Moreover, the decreased synthesis of
cortisol results in diminished negative feedback of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ATCH) and over
secretion of ACTH. This pathological increase of ACTH in an attempt to increase serum cortisol
levels is prevented because of the lack of appropriate enzymes and actually results in increased

fertility rates in women with classic 21 alpha hydroxylase CAH are low, while most males with the

Shear Wave Stress Analysis
Acoustic radiation force impulse (ARFI) technique has replaced the traditional stress strain
elastography where compression force is applied manually(Garra 2011). It can differentiate liver,
prostate and breast diseases(Tozaki and Fukuma 2011, Vermehren, et al. 2012, Yu and Wilson 2011,

cirrhosis as compared to transient elastography (78.6%)(Kircheis, et al. 2012). Shear wave velocity
(SWV) assessment associated with ARFI was then suggested to gauge tissue stiffness. It provides an
absolute stiffness value instead of a ratio relative to surrounding tissue. Liver stiffness measurement

Freedom acts as the main right in the United States of America. When someone compromises that
freedom, decisions are made to protect that right. Several opportunities testing the strength of the

Compare And Contrast Everyday Use And Many Rivers To Cross
Connecting/Contrast Essay: The Definitions of Definitions
Many times, a difference in meanings and values can often lead to disagreements and conflicts
between two parties. Particularly, differences in defining these values can cause more major
misunderstandings since these definitions are what individuals create themselves so they differ from
person to person. Sometimes, these differences may even end friendships and relationships. However,
there are also times when definitions teach lessons regarding which moral is more just than another.
This is seen in the two short stories Everyday Use by Alice Walker, Two Kinds by Amy Tan, and the
essay Many Rivers to Cross by June Jordan, where the issue of definition plays a major role in
revealing the author s theme in all three texts, but Many Rivers to Cross differs from the short stories
by the order in which the definition was created.
In the short story Everyday Use, a difference in definition of heritage leads to a major conflict in the
short story and helps reveal the theme that heritage should be lived and not shown. Dee, an

In the 1997 indie drama film Good Will Hunting, the protagonist, Will Hunting, is a young man of
genius intelligence that chooses to work as a janitor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. A
victim of child abuse, Will takes his past and uses it in a form of self sabotage. He works labor jobs,
deters himself from women and any form of love, and spends time with his low life friends. One night
at a bar, a Harvard student named Clark brags of his comprehension of the market economy evolution
to Will s best friend, Chuckie, and attempts to make him appear ignorant for not knowing of such. In
Chuckie s regard, Will steps into the conversation. Through a strong sense of pathos, he makes Clark

recitation of, Work in Essex County, it can be assumed that he did check it out at the public library.
However, Clark went to an expensive college for many years just to recite the same material. When
Will compares the expenses of college tuition to late charges from the public library, he is telling
Clark that they learned the same thing at drastically different prices. Will is trying to target Clark s
morals by showing him that even though they came from different backgrounds, and that Clark
obviously displays more wealth than Will, that Will is still capable of knowing the same material as
him for a much smaller price. Clark may have thought earlier that his higher education would uprise
his status, but Will wants him to know that is

The Human Eye s Ability
A. Purpose
The objective of this experiment is to demonstrate the human eye s ability to detect different colors in
the visible spectrum. In this experiment a red cross is drawn on a plain, white sheet of paper and
placed upon another clean sheet of paper. The student then stares at the red cross for sixty seconds
without taking their eyes off of the cross. Once the sixty seconds pass the sheet of paper with the cross
is quickly removed the clean sheet of paper underneath is visible. A faint blue green cross should be
clear on the clean sheet.
When examined, an object and its color, the image identified is a wavelength of light that wasn t
absorbed, alike the other wavelengths, by the object. The beam is then reflected towards the ... Show

However, cones are the principal focus of this experiment. To them is attributed both color vision and
the highest visual acuity (HyperPhysics). Current understanding is that the 6 to 7 million cones can be
divided into red cones (64%), green cones (32%), and blue cones (2%) based on measured response
curves (HyperPhysics).
When one type of cone continuously sends the same signal to the brain, the cones hastily become
exhausted. Once one of the three types of cone becomes exhausted, the cone ceases to transmit signals
to the brain. Which causes the brain to assume the cones are tired and holds onto the image. However,
once the top sheet of paper is removed all that is shown is a white sheet of paper and white contains all
light energy. Since the red type cones are nonfunctioning, only the green and blue type cones receive
the wavelengths. This causes the brain to assume the signals it s receiving are a blue green colour
instead of an equal parts red blue green combination, which would form white.
This experiment hopes to show how the human eye detects multiple wavelengths of light, and how the
cones interact the brain. Moreover, the experiment desires to display, not only, how the cones work
individually, but to show how the cones work in unison with each other to produce the colors man
sees. The experiment also hopes to demonstrate the immense complexity contained within the human
eye.

Analysis Of The Invention Of Wings
Sue Monk Kidd s The Invention of Wings is a riveting tale of equality, the struggle of freedom, and
friendship. The story revolves around Sarah Grimke and her slave Handful that she was given on her
eleventh birthday. From a young age, Sarah begins to understand the consequences of slave
inhumanity and this disturbs her daily life. After watching a slave being punished, she was left scarred
and develops a speech impediment. As Sarah proceeds through her life, she comes across important
life occasions such as death, extrusion, and heartbreak. Sarah s relationship with Handful has its ups
and downs. As children, they were very close and the idea of owning Handful weighs a toll on her. As
she continues through the stages of her life, she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Charlotte s passion in driving emancipation was not only portrayed through her storytelling, but also
her quilts. The black triangles sewn onto the quilt represent freedom and blackbird wings. This
obviously was such a big part in Handful s life as well because later in the novel when she sews a quilt
for Denmark Vesey, the same black triangles that her mother had sewn years before were symbolized
again. At the end of the novel when Handful and Sky escape, they take Charlotte s original quilt with
the wings on it to the North with them. Handful also references hearing the blackbird wings as she
escapes to the north at the end of the novel. There are two unambiguous themes that the book center
around: friendship and equality. As a reader, both of these themes encapsulate the reader as the novel
progresses and almost allow the reader to have a personal connection with the characters. Unlike other
novels that only show positives and joyful experiences, Handful and Sarah experience a roller coaster
of a friendship because of their differing backgrounds. Both of these characters must overcome their
own issues, which sometimes created distance and heartache between the two. In part one of the
novel, Handful talks about a pure love between her and Sarah and it shows their innocence as children
and the friendship that they both had: People say love gets fouled by a difference big as ours. I

History Of The Berlin Wall
The Cold War by nature divided Europe in two camps capitalist West, and communist East. This
slowed down the political, economic and social integration drastically. As Winston Churchill put it, an
iron Curtain had descended across Europe. Consequently, Europe was more divided than any other
time in history. Germany was divided into east and west. Berlin itself was also divided into similar
territories which caused a huge economic, political and social strain on its people. The construction of
the Berlin wall was one of the pivotal moments of the Cold War as it served as a physical illustration
of the iron Curtain . Today however, Germany has become the economic hotspot of the EU so
evidently the Cold War only hindered/delayed the inevitable

10 Mario Game Persuasive Essay
(Trying to) Make a Memorable Mario
I m well over 20 hours into Super Mario Maker and I have to admit, most of that s making Mario
levels, not so much playing them. Maybe that s good since it s Mario maker, not player, but I m
getting ahead of myself.
The game begins like the old Mario Bros. for Nintendo, but with no enemies and a sudden cliff. You re
told the level s unfinished and you re asked to complete the level for your tutorial. Silhouettes of
where to place enemies and blocks are strewn about, and you re walked through the basics, like
shaking to change a unit s function or hiding power ups in blocks. It s good for the basics, but it doesn
t walk players through the concept of good level design.

Reflection On Science Lesson
on November 1, 2017, I taught my second science lesson at Maverick Elementary School. It took
place during my Kindergarten class usually scheduled science lesson. This week my class was going
over the 5 senses, so my lesson fit perfectly into their curriculum. My lesson was about using the 5
senses to predict what an unknown object was in a closed bag. I chose to do this lesson because my
students were learning how to use senses as a tool of observation to identify properties and patterns of
organisms, objects, and events in environment (TEK K.4B). My objective was for the students to use
their senses to identify an object and describe the different properties of objects accurately.
Strengths and Weaknesses of Lesson I think one of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Overall, I think my lesson went pretty well, despite a few minor hiccups.
Changes I Would Make
If I could make changes to my lesson to make it more effective, I would probably have the students
switch the bags at the tables. For this lesson, I only gave each table one bag. I feel like the lesson
would have been more fun and exciting, if I let the students guess what the unknown objects were in
each of the table s bags. However, I only gave each table one bag for time s sake. Also, if I could make
an additional change to the lesson, I would probably make it harder to open the brown paper bags.
Even though I stabled the paper bags shut and told everyone not to open their bags until I gave the
word, two out of the five tables opened their paper bag. I believe this lesson would have been more
effective, if there was some way to make it harder to open the paper bags.
How the Objective of Lesson was Met After all was said and done, I believe that I met the objective of
the lesson. The lesson s objective was for the students to be able to describe the properties of an object
and use their senses to identify an object accurately. In order for the students to do this lesson, they
had to touch/feel the bag, smell the bag, and hear what was inside of the bag. The students also had to
circle the descriptive words on their worksheets that describe the object. When the students had to
circle

Security Incidents And Security Violations
In 2013, 50 major global organizations reported that 63,437 security incidents and 1,367 confirmed
security breaches had significantly impacted their business. [cite] Even more staggering, over 100
million Americans that s 1 out of 3 citizens had their credit or debit card information pilfered by
hackers over the course of 4 data breaches between 2013 and 2014 [cite], with confirmed evidence
that breaches of this type are increasing. These statistics show that there are serious problems now
existing in the realm of information security and the internet. However, it is undeniable that society
today is largely dependent upon the technology that handles our information along with many facets
of society such as social media that would leave us completely non functional without technology.
Consequently, there is an ongoing debate about the issues of information security and how to solve
them. Some people believe it is the simple matter of installing security programs on their devices, or
using a network that its proponents have labeled it as ultra secure to solve the problem. On the other
hand, others believe that these are information security issues that, given technology today and in the
future, will never have a permanent solution. The American military has legitimate reasons for secure
communications across the Internet, especially in the current age of technology. Field personnel and
agents in deep cover require the ability to use

How Does Howard Fast Present Joseph Simmons
Joseph Simmons
A monster of a man with a heart of gold. This is how I picture Joseph Simmons from April Morning
by Howard Fast. This book is about the first battles of the Revolutionary War. It is seen through the
eyes 15 year old Adam Cooper. Over the period of a few days, Joseph Simmons goes from being a
pretty flat character who is seen as the big, silent type, to stepping up and helping lead some attacks on
the British. He goes from looking to others for approval to stepping up and finding his own voice. He
also gains a son in Adam, when his father, Moses Cooper, is lost in the battle. A good man overall,
Joseph Simmons is somewhat simple, extremely moral, and very kind.

His kindness and his generosity make him, in my opinion, one of the best characters. Even though he
is a big, burly blacksmith, he cares and is not afraid to show it. Then I thought he d break my ribs, the
way he clutched me in those blacksmith arms of his, and when he let go of me, I saw that the tears
were pouring down his cheeks. (Fast #126) You can tell by that bit from the book just how kind he is,
how much he cares, and how he is not afraid to show it. After the battle he also steps up to fill a hole
in Adam s life, now that his father is dead. ...and then he took hold of my hands and told me, plain and
quiet, that while nothing could ever replace Moses Cooper in my head, I could turn to him just as I
would to a father. (Fast #135) Even though he does not have to do this, he goes out of his way to, just
because he is such a kind person. Joseph is just overall a kind man, who puts others before

Moliere s Tartuffe and the Religious Hypocrisy
Moliere s Tartuffe and the Religious Hypocrisy
Moliere s Tartuffe is a satire based on religious hypocrisy. Every character is essential in Tartuffe. All
of the characters play an important role, but it is easy to say that Tartuffe and Orgon are the main
characters. First, we must know the definition of satire. According to the Merriam Webster Online
Dictionary, satire is defined as literary work holding up human vices and follies to ridicule or scorn (
satire ). In other words, a satire is defined as literary work that uses humor to point out the foolishness
of a person or just in human nature. Religious hypocrisy can be self defined as a false assumption of a
person. What follows are examples of how I believe Tartuffe exposes humor ... Show more content on

Damis tries to tell his father that Tartuffe is acting like the Devil.
At this moment, we see that Tartuffe is two faced and he knows that Orgon will believe what he has to
say considering he is a saint. Orgon confronts Tartuffe and in disbelief Tartuffe admits what he has
said and continues to tell Orgon what a bad person he is. Orgon then is disappointed with Damis for
telling a lie and questioning Tartuffe s purity. Orgon is too blind to see that Damis is telling the truth,
because he is so sure that Tartuffe could not commit such a sin. As the play continues, in Act IV Scene
III, Elmire offers for Orgon to hear for himself.
I m not now asking you to trust our word. Suppose that from some hiding place in here you learned
the whole sad truth by eye, and ear What would you say of our good friend, after that (Tartuffe 4.3.69

God activates changes to help us mark movement in time and motion in His Language of Love,

Changes are fundamental, biblical chord patterns used to create meaningful life sounds that are
connected to meanings and words, which are used to communicate daily truth of our existence to God.
Without the A minor triad in place, from the A minor scale as a base (bass), ABCDEFG, the musical

Benefits Of Playing A Musical Instrument
In third grade I was introduced to an orchestra program at my school district. This program was
designed for students who have no experience with the violin, viola, cello, and bass. Although I
already played the piano since age five, I thought learning the violin would be a fun experience. At the
time I was unaware how committed I would be to the violin, my impulsive 8 year old self was simply
intrigued with stringed instruments. 10 years later, I own my very own violin and continue to improve
my music skills. Why I have continued to play through all these years sometimes baffles me; What are
the benefits of playing a musical instrument?
Everyone should learn how to play a musical instrument.
Lutz Jancke, a psychologist at the University of Zurich, states: Learning to play a musical instrument
has definite benefits and can increase IQ by seven points, in both children and adults. Even when
simply beginning to learn how to play an instrument, there is a significant difference in brain
improvement. Jancke continues: We found that even in people over the age of 65 after four or five
months of playing a instrument for an hour a week there were strong changes in the brain. Findings
from the Journal of the American Academy of Child Adolescent Psychiatry show that learning a
musical instrument reduces feelings of anxiety, expressing emotions, and gives better attention skills
to children. There is physical evidence that learning an instrument alters brain development,

America s First Black President Essay
For many years, American Presidents were viewed as being white and powerful leaders. Why were
they only white? Is it because Americans felt Blacks were not smart enough to run a country on their
own? African Americans were viewed as less dominate people and have been discriminated because
of the color of their skin. In 2008, Barack Obama was elected President of the United States making
him the first black president ever. In this paper, I will discuss how Barack makes a change and if
America can accept him as our first black president. Barack Hussein Obama was born on August 4,
1961 in Honolulu Hawaii. He is of mixed parentage: his father, a black African born in Kenya, while
his mother, a white American that came from Kansas. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is the first African American to in history to run on a major ticket. In the beginning of his
campaign a lot of people questioned his authority and wanted to know could he handle the
responsibilities of a president for such a big country. I want to know how deep is your love for the
people, what kind of courage have you manifested in the stances that you have and what are you
willing to sacrifice for. This is the fundamental question. I don t care what color you are. You see, you
can t take black people for granted just cause your black . (C.West) These questions just made Obama
a much stronger person and he continued to fight.
Obama portrayed himself as the candidate of change. His slogan was Change we can believe in . His
Republican opponent was Sen. John McCain. To make sure that his campaigns and speeches would
help him win the election, Obama began fundraising and broke previous records for presidential
primary and general campaigns. The campaign avoided using public campaign funds, and raised all of
its money privately. They had raised more than $650 million itself. (H.Cooper) He also had television
advertisements that ran in 18 states including traditionally Republican states such as Alaska and North
Carolina. (J.Harwood) His campaign spent $27 million on advertisements against McCain and
Republican National Committee s combined a total of $24.6 million. (J.Rutenberg)

  • 2. At First Reading Mary Shelley’S Novel Frankenstein Appears At first reading Mary Shelley s novel Frankenstein appears to be part of the gothic or horror genre, but further examination of this novel reveals many concepts and perspectives that are related to other genres of English literature. Along with possessing various conceptual ideas this novel brilliantly highlights the characteristics of men, which many authors have credited Mary Shelley s understanding of the opposite gender as exceptional. Throughout this novel there can be identified three male characters that are used to tell the tale by Mary Shelley. These three characters are Captain Robert Walton, Victor Frankenstein and the monster. However, these characters portray different perspectives, but they all have various similarities and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Victor Frankenstein s story and death completely changed the perspective of Robert Walton and instead of carrying on his expedition of discovery, he turned back to travel home. It is past; I am returning to England. I have lost my hopes of utility and glory; I have lost my friend (Shelley, 160). Victor Frankenstein was in the eyes of Walton a person who is similar to him, but uplifted Walton s weary heart as he faced challenges along the expedition. He excites at once my admiration and my pity to an astonishing degree (Shelley, 11). Along with the thirst of discovery of the unknown, Victor Frankenstein is also involved in an act of romance towards Elizabeth Lavenza, who he loved dearly my more than sister, since till death she was to be mine only (Shelley, 18). Victor was raised in a loving household and was privileged to receive higher education at the university of Ingolstadt. Further analysis of his character show evidence that Frankenstein is egotistical, for he isolates himself from his family and society to create the monster that later he despises (Marklund,6). Thus, ignoring his duties towards his family as his father said to him, I know that while you are pleased with yourself, you will think of us with affection, and we shall hear regularly from you. You must pardon me if I regard any interruption in your correspondence as a proof that your other duties are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Introduction to Mexico INTRODUCTION The purpose of this paper is to evaluate Mexico and the possibility of internationalization. In order to make an informed decision about such a country, the benefits, costs and risks of the venture must be considered. In this paper, we will analyze Mexico s economy, political structure, culture and management techniques. By examining these factors an American firm should be able to make a decision based on Mexico and the type of business considering a move into Mexico. This paper will show that a company can not internationalize into Mexico due to the lower costs of labor only. A more all encompassing approach is necessary to make a proper decision. A study of all aspects must be done and then the decision can be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some farming takes place on the steep mountain coast and much of the gold of the Aztec Empire is believed to have come from this region. The Chiapas highlands have great blocklike mountains that rise more than 9,000 feet above sea level. This region consists of relatively flat surfaces at high attitudes called the tablelands, which are farmed by Indians who speak Maya and other ancient languages. With irrigation, farmers grow coffee, fruits, and other crops. Yucatan Peninsula is a low limestone plateau with no rivers. Limestone dissolves in the water and rainfall reaches the sea through underground channels dissolved out of the rock. Great pits have formed where the roofs of these channels have fallen in and these huge pits were sacred wells of the ancient Mayas Indians. The north part of the region is dry bushland. To the south, the rainfall increases, and tropical rain forests cover the land. Climate The climate of Mexico varies sharply from region to region. Dry conditions exist over the whole northern border from the Pacific to the Gulf of Mexico and over the north central region southward to about 22 degree north latitude. Rainfall gradually increases as you travel farther south from 22 degrees north latitude until the southern most tip of Mexico where there are rainforests. The northern half of Mexico is usually dry and consists largely of deserts and semideserts. The lack of rainfall has limited agricultural development in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Analysis Of Anne Bradstreet And Edward Taylor Anne Bradstreet and Edward Taylor are two of the most distinguished and fervent Puritan poets. Yet this similarity has proven to be one of the few, if not only between these two. One cannot help but find it intriguing that poets who belong to the same religious group and style would write so differently. Many of these differences are not even subtle or hidden beneath the text itself. The differences themselves hold implications and ideas that differ between each poet. The first difference which is the most obvious would be the style of each respected poet. Every poet has a unique style, but generally those who belong to the same period or set of ideas have similar styles. Between Bradstreet and Taylor there are no similarities in style. Taylor can be considered a much more polished poet. Taylor s poetry is full of poetic techniques and advanced styling tools such as the iambic meter and advanced rhyming schemes. This style can be seen as the norm for a highly educated preacher which Taylor was. Bradstreet on the other hand has a more simplistic style that can be seen as the voice of the common or average Puritan. Therefore, there is far less ornamentation in her poetry. If one compares the Bradstreet s Here Follows Some Verses Upon the Burning of Our House, July 10th, 1666. and Taylor s From God s Determinations. One can see the difference in syntax clearly. Bradstreet uses simple diction while tackling the topic of her burning house. She uses simple and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Gallstone Case Study The prevalence of gallstones varies with the geographical region. In the western world, the rates range from approximately 8% in men to 16% in women.3 The typical course of cholelithiasis often begins as asymptomatic gallstones found incidentally on imaging studies. However, 2% of asymptomatic patients become symptomatic per year.8 Biliary colic is the most common symptom to manifest and approximately 20 40% of patients have recurring pain.8 Asymptomatic patients who have calcified gallbladders or large stones 2cm have a greater risk for gallbladder carcinoma and as a result these patients are recommended to have prophylactic cholecystectomy.8 Medical treatment is only advised for certain types of patients and is not the ideal treatment ... These are all standard labs that help to rule out gallbladder pathology as well as our other differential diagnoses. Her vital signs were stable and the physical exam revealed only moderate TTP of the RUQ and epigastric region. The lab results revealed no leukocytosis, no elevation of liver enzymes, bilirubin, amylase, lipase, alk phos or any other signs of cholecystitis, cholangitis, pancreatitis or other potential signs of infection. The plan of care began with keeping the patient NPO. This is recommended as this keeps the patient from further pain secondary to food stimulating gallbladder contraction.5 It also allows the patient to be prepared for surgery if urgent cholecystectomy is required. The next step was beginning IV normal saline to keep her well hydrated. After this we began to give her medication through the IV including Zofran for her nausea. Zofran is an effective anti emetic and there were no contraindications for use in this patient. We also gave her Morphine 2 mg IV for pain control. Opioids are an effective option for a patient with significant biliary colic.6 Although NSAIDS are another option for pain control, PUD was part of the differential diagnosis so NSAIDS were not an appropriate therapy. We ordered an abdominal ultrasound as this is the diagnostic test of choice for cholelithiasis. The ultrasound revealed multiple gallstones in the gallbladder, some mild gallbladder thickening, and some dilatation of the common bile duct. At this point we consulted GI who scheduled the patient for MRCP in the morning in order rule out choledocholithiaisis. We also consulted the surgery team who admitted the patient. Therefore, all points of view even those that are bad or socially harmful should be represented in society s marketplace of ideas. The Mists of Avalon, by Marion Zimmer Bradley Essay The Mists of Avalon, by Marion Zimmer Bradley The Mists of Avalon, by Marion Zimmer Bradley, is not only an example of a Medieval Romance, but also tells the story of the women who stood behind King Arthur during his infamous reign in the Middle Ages. The term Medieval Romance does not necessarily mean that the piece using it contains any sort of romance. There are three criteria that must be meet to form a Medieval Romance. (1) The plot must divide into sharply separate episodes that often do not seem joined in any obvious casual fashion. This past century, due to the resilience and determination of the American people, our country has experienced more growth and prosperity than any other nation in recorded history. However, dark challenges threaten the moral fiber of this great nation. The past eight years, under Clinton s leadership, the national government has lacked the fortitude to effectively battle the dangerously extremist trends that have gradually forced their way into the American culture. In order for America to be the great nation it once was, the Republican Party must be in power. The Republican Party has a vision ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With this reduction we have rekindled the belief in the American dream. Economic prosperity and sound moral and family values have begun to be reinstated in all arenas of American life. We believe there should be less government intrusion in the lives of Americans because only the American people can decide what is best for them. We stand for a rollback of federal government paternalism and intervention and instead call for an increased roll of the individual and a revitalization of the American tradition of entrepreneurial innovation. The rise of the Republican Party to national prominence will allow us to realize these goals and restore America to its former glory. Federal Minimum Wage We the Republican Party support the American workforce knowing that the future of the country rests on a strong economy. To insure economic prosperity it is imperative that states have the freedom to act accordingly to its economy. We as Americans, as workers, and as taxpayers should seek to quiet the anxiety over labor and wages. We cannot be held to a standard that blankets the whole nation when it is evident that each state is different. States must be allowed to evaluate the conditions of their economy, unemployment, growth and other relative demographics and then should have the ability to set the minimum wage. Harry Thaw is the son of a William Thaw and Mary Sibbet. Harry was born in Pittsburgh. He was born in February 12th 1871 and died in February 22nd 1947. Thaw had 5 siblings which are Margaret, Alice Cornelia, Edward, and Josiah. Thaw was discovered to have severe mental illness. This could be genetics as his mother herself was known for the abuse she did to her servants and uncontrollable temper. In this article, it is mentioned that he murdered an architect named Stanford White over jealousy because White was having an affair with his wife which is Evelyn Nesbit. However, I would say there is a reason of why Nesbit was not faithful to him. Nesbit wrote a book called Autobiography Prodigal Days and mentioned a lot of negative habits about her husband. For instance, she stated in her book that her husband is a sadist. This is because Thaw have sex very roughly in a punishing way and he relates slaves to his wife while they were together. Nesbit mentioned that the sex was more of an attack than actual love. Besides that, Nesbit says that he has cocaine addiction and thinks that his masturbating routine might be one of the causes for his insanity. CAH is estimated to manifest in 1 of every 15,000 live births. In the United States, the prevalence of the disorder is lower in African American children in comparison to Caucasians. Moreover, the decreased synthesis of cortisol results in diminished negative feedback of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ATCH) and over secretion of ACTH. When someone compromises that freedom, decisions are made to protect that right. Several opportunities testing the strength of the nation exist, but these attacks have only increased the passion for freedom and security to protect it. September 11, 2001, was a day when over three thousand people lost their lives due to targeted attacks ( US Government ). An attack on an area with a significant purpose such as the World Trade Center invades the minds and hearts of the country s residents and changes its methods of functioning in the future. New governmental programs fail without assistance from the new employees. Another improvement within the nation s safety comes in the form of the new government programs. On November 19, 2001, President George W. Bush signed an act that would increase the safety in transportation facilities, such as airports ( US Government ). This act is called the Aviation and Transportation Security Act. The act allowed the federal government to keep a grasp on the preventing terrorist attacks ( US Government ). After the signing of the act in 2001, a new agency was introduced called the Transportation Security Administration, TSA ( Airport Security ). TSA is responsible for preventing high jacking or any attacks on the transportation system throughout the United States ( Airport Security ). Compare And Contrast Everyday Use And Many Rivers To Cross Connecting/Contrast Essay: The Definitions of Definitions Many times, a difference in meanings and values can often lead to disagreements and conflicts between two parties. Particularly, differences in defining these values can cause more major misunderstandings since these definitions are what individuals create themselves so they differ from person to person. Sometimes, these differences may even end friendships and relationships. However, there are also times when definitions teach lessons regarding which moral is more just than another. This is seen in the two short stories Everyday Use by Alice Walker, Two Kinds by Amy Tan, and the essay Many Rivers to Cross by June Jordan, where the issue of definition plays a major role in revealing the author s theme in all three texts, but Many Rivers to Cross differs from the short stories by the order in which the definition was created. In the short story Everyday Use, a difference in definition of heritage leads to a major conflict in the short story and helps reveal the theme that heritage should be lived and not shown. Once the sixty seconds pass the sheet of paper with the cross is quickly removed the clean sheet of paper underneath is visible. A faint blue green cross should be clear on the clean sheet. Current understanding is that the 6 to 7 million cones can be divided into red cones (64%), green cones (32%), and blue cones (2%) based on measured response curves (HyperPhysics). When one type of cone continuously sends the same signal to the brain, the cones hastily become exhausted. Once one of the three types of cone becomes exhausted, the cone ceases to transmit signals to the brain. Which causes the brain to assume the cones are tired and holds onto the image. However, once the top sheet of paper is removed all that is shown is a white sheet of paper and white contains all light energy. Since the red type cones are nonfunctioning, only the green and blue type cones receive the wavelengths. This causes the brain to assume the signals it s receiving are a blue green colour instead of an equal parts red blue green combination, which would form white. This experiment hopes to show how the human eye detects multiple wavelengths of light, and how the cones interact the brain. Moreover, the experiment desires to display, not only, how the cones work individually, but to show how the cones work in unison with each other to produce the colors man sees. The experiment also hopes to demonstrate the immense complexity contained within the human eye. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At the end of the novel when Handful and Sky escape, they take Charlotte s original quilt with the wings on it to the North with them. Handful also references hearing the blackbird wings as she escapes to the north at the end of the novel. There are two unambiguous themes that the book center around: friendship and equality. As a reader, both of these themes encapsulate the reader as the novel progresses and almost allow the reader to have a personal connection with the characters. This week my class was going over the 5 senses, so my lesson fit perfectly into their curriculum. My lesson was about using the 5 senses to predict what an unknown object was in a closed bag. I chose to do this lesson because my students were learning how to use senses as a tool of observation to identify properties and patterns of organisms, objects, and events in environment (TEK K.4B). I feel like the lesson would have been more fun and exciting, if I let the students guess what the unknown objects were in each of the table s bags. However, I only gave each table one bag for time s sake. Also, if I could make an additional change to the lesson, I would probably make it harder to open the brown paper bags. Even though I stabled the paper bags shut and told everyone not to open their bags until I gave the word, two out of the five tables opened their paper bag. I believe this lesson would have been more effective, if there was some way to make it harder to open the paper bags. At the time I was unaware how committed I would be to the violin, my impulsive 8 year old self was simply intrigued with stringed instruments. 10 years later, I own my very own violin and continue to improve my music skills. Why I have continued to play through all these years sometimes baffles me; What are the benefits of playing a musical instrument? Everyone should learn how to play a musical instrument. Even when simply beginning to learn how to play an instrument, there is a significant difference in brain improvement.
