Gender Is Not As Cut And Dry As You Might Think
Sir! Sir! Do you realize this is the ladies room? The concept of gender is not as cut and dry as you
might think. The term gender is often used incorrectly as a synonym for our biological sex.
Gender is more of a predetermined set of ideas and characteristics used in identifying socially
acceptable behaviors and appearances for the sexes. It is not determined by the biological sex of the
person. From an early age we begin to develop ideas of what it means to be male or female by
observing others. Genderfalls on a spectrum from masculine to feminine with many combinations in
between. Gender expression and gender identity are also not the same thing. Gender expression is
not related directly to how a person perceives their gender,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

People with gender Identity crises do not feel their genitalia reflects who they are inside. They
may feel a powerful drive to have their genitalia match their self image opting for sex
reassignment surgery. Gender expression is far more relaxed than it has been throughout our
history in America, but it still poses a problems for some on a daily basis. Gender expression is
one area where women have a social advantage over men. It is far more socially acceptable for a
woman to dress masculine than for a man to dress feminine; although neither are without
predigests. Using a public restrooms seems like a simple task to the majority of us. This is not
the case for people who fall outside the gender norm. Seldom does one have a choice beyond
boy s room or girl s room. This can be a very stressful environment if your outward appearance
doesn t match your biological sex. Spotlighting those who are not perceived by society as gender
normal could lead to depression, anxiety and self loathing. Something as simple as going to the
restroom in the mall could lead to a violent encounter. This would be greatly reduced of people
would just be more observant. This all because society developed rules everyone must follow in
order to be perceived as normal. Today s young people tend to be more aware of the gender
spectrum. Terms like gender identity and gender expression are better understood. Words like

Ideology Of Punk Rock Ideology
What is punk rock? How many people know the real definition? Punk rocks values, attitude, and
ideologies? Punk rock isn t just a style or a scene but a way of life. It all started in the late 1970s,
originating from the working class angst and frustrations many youth were feeling about the
economic inequality. One of punks main oppositions was rejection of mainstream, corporate mass
culture and its values. It continued to evolve its ideology of anti racist and anti sexist belief systems
as the movement spread from its origins in England and New York to Northern America. The
attitude common in the subculture is the resistance to selling out, which means abandoning one s
values and changing in musical style toward pop to embrace anything that s mainstream capitalist
culture in the exchange for money, status, or power. Punk rocks common thinking wasn t only anti
authoritarism, and not selling out but also non conformity, direct action, and a DIY ethic. The DIY
attitude was pointed towards stepping forward and speaking without any restraint. To fight with
warrior qualities to achieve what you were striving for. The kind of thinking and motives for punk
rocksubjects was to not settle for what society made acceptable and standard but to think and work
outside of the box that was holding them in. Punk rock ideologies were expressed though music and
lyrics, punk literature, fashion and visual art. In the beginning punk fashionevolved everyday

Zelda s Relationship With F. Scott Fitzgerald
Title: The life of Zelda Fitzgerald and her relationship with F. Scott Fitzgerald Thesis: Zelda
Sayre Fitzgerald is generally remembered as the flamboyant wife of novelist F. Scott Fitzgerald.
Zelda, named after a gypsy queen in a novel, however, was a talented writer in her own right,
recognized for her biting and bantering style. I.Introduction Zelda is sick and Mr. Fitzgerald is not

He was a first lieutenant in the infantry stationed at Camp Sheridan, Alabama, but profoundly

but when he inquired and he was told that the girl, Zelda Sayre was far too young for him and
having just graduated from high school the month before. Zelda had in fact just turned 18 while
he was about to turn 22 and he approached the beautiful ballerina, and the attraction was
immediate and explosive. But both were fabulously good looking, but both were high strung and
excitable, and both loved to live on the edge, and both were deeply self absorbed. Soon Scott was
carving their initials on the country club doorpost and phoning Zelda every day that he was unable

Lab Report On Corpus Christi
Several species and organisms rely on water to survive. Some organisms use it as a source to
drink and others uses water as their living environment. This experiment is to calculate many
aspects of the water that surrounds Corpus Christi. Water is the key to life on Earth and thus why
water is so important. According to the Lab Report water quality is the quality of water and if it is
considered acceptable drinking water. Water quality consist of its chemical, physical and biological
characteristics. These properties can be studied through pHtesting, nitrogen testing, Phosphorous
testing and many other useful ways. Water quality is important because it allows scientist to
identify if the water is in a good condition to drink or sustain life overall and it dramatically effects
how healthy it is. The objective of this lab was to experiment if the water quality around the Corpus
Christiis a reliable source of water for organisms and to reach an understanding of the water quality
of the water surrounding Corpus Christi.
STUDY AREA
The location of the water sampling was in three different areas known as the Ward Island, Oso
Bride, and Packery Channel. For the Ward Island and the Packery Channel were both well
cleaned and little to no trash in the property. As for the Oso bridge the location was surrounded
with unwanted trash. Shown in figure 1 is a variety of trash that interrupts the growth of
organisms in the location throughout Oso bridge. The Oso bridge had several small like rocks
throughout the location, while the Ward Island consisted of sand, and the Packery Channel had
a variation of mud and sand. The weather was fairly similar in all locations especially the
Packery Channel and the Oso bridge because the experiments were conducted on the same day.
The weather for all consisted with an average of 80 degrees. For all three experiments the wind was
blowing somewhat fast at a speed of 15 17 miles per hour.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
For this experiment, there is several materials needed to have a successful lab experiment. This
includes the basic utensils such as the datasheets, pencil, and a notepad to add additional notes.
Following the list of materials, you will need three bottles to collect sampling water

Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy For Advanced Chronic...
Proposal Title: Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy in Advanced Chronic Kidney Disease: Impact
on Patient Centered Outcomes Background In the United States, over 5 million patients have
heart failure (HF) and approximately 20 million patients have chronic kidney disease (CKD).
Both conditions are linked by multiple risk factors including obesity, hypertension, diabetes
mellitus, tobacco abuse, and increasing age. The presence of HF increases the risk of CKD and
vice versa. Nearly one third of all patients with HF and 70% of Medicare patients with HF have
Stage III CKD or greater and approximately 50% of dialysis dependent end stage renal disease
(ESRD) patients will develop HF. Patients with medication refractory HF and CKD and their...

Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) emerged as an important treatment for HF patients
with systolic dysfunction and a prolonged QRS duration. Although findings from landmark trials
have led to widespread use of CRT in many patient cohorts, there has been considerable
controversy surrounding its use in patients with advanced CKD because these patients are
poorly represented in these trials. The few published studies exploring the use of CRT in
advanced CKD have shown modest reduction in HF hospitalization or death, but those studies
have been limited by their small size, retrospective nature, and lack of data on patient centered
outcomes (e.g. functional status and quality of life). The lack of data regarding how CRT
impacts outcomes among patients with advanced CKD is a major problem especially in light of
the results of an unpublished analysis of the National Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR)
Implantable Cadioverter Defibrillator (ICD) Database (which captures data on most patients who
receive a CRT D device in the United States) demonstrating that 37% of patients receiving a CRT
device had advanced CKD (defined as CKD Stage III V). There are no prospective studies that
have evaluated, or are in the process of evaluating, CRT in patients with advanced CKD. This issue
is further compounded by the potentially higher risk of procedural complications in such patients.

Gas Pressure Lab
Question
When the temperature goes up at a constant volume, does the pressure go up proportionally?
Hypothesis
If the pressure of a gas is at a constant volume then pressure will be proportional because as
temperature rises, pressure also goes up.

ќ T which can also be written as P=kT and be rearranged as P/T=k and also Pi/Ti = Pf/Tf.
This is considered the Gay Lussac Law. Pressure is proportional to temperature and inversely
proportional to volume and volume is proportional to temperature. As Gay Lussac has a law,
Charles and Boyles has their personal laws. Boyles thinks that there is an inverse relationship
between pressure and volume for gases with constant amounts of gas and at a constant temperature.
This statement mathematically is P в€
ќ 1/V. It means that pressure is inversely proportional to
volume. Charles Law states that the volume of a fixed amount of gas, at the same pressure, is
proportional to its temperature. If temperature doubles, the volume doubles. Mathematically, it is
Vi/Ti=Vf/Tf. All these law combined is called the combined gas law and can be mathematically
expressed like PiVi/Ti = PfVf/Tf. This gas law includes the shared relationship between pressure,
volume, and temperature, which include the variables in Boyles, Charles and Gay Lussac s Law.
The combined gas law shows that pressure is inversely proportional to volume, or higher volume
equals lower pressure, pressure is directly proportional to temperature or higher temperature equals
higher pressure, and also that volume is directly proportional to temperature, or higher temperature
equals higher

The Latin Artist Essay
The Latin Artist The Latin experience as a whole encapsulates a world that not many get to
experience. Those who do, brag of its liveliness; those who don t, gawk at it. What isn t known is
how the latin artist, whose culture places values on work and family much higher than creative
expression, survives through such tyranny. Artists such as Gabriel Marquez and Gabriel Mistra use
their culture to inspire their writing. Their work, much like the work of other writers and poets, is
depressing to say the least. With no support from a community, these artists use metaphors, vivid
imagery, and other effective literary devices in order to convey the neglect that they have grown
accustomed to. Latin Americaand it s people have had a hard time pursuing freedom. While

a bird leaving the nest. As the poem progresses, the reader learns more about the small threats that
the mother feels. As is apparent by the popular and critical acclaim lavished upon her work about
motherhood, Mistral was able to touch upon the very real emotions of the experience even though
she did not live the experience herself. By connecting to the thoughts and emotions that the women

Salem Witch Trials and reveals the theme that lies blind even the most well intended from the
truth. Reverend Hale represents a good uncorrupt holy man, unlike Parris, and we have chosen a
New Testament bible due to his piety, but also due to the Congregationalist Protestant faith which
settled in New England. Hale presents himself as an educated man of the world and at the time
only priests became educated so we have chosen a textbook. From the very beginning, Hale

by Abigail. We have chosen to represent his determination by a magnifying glass or

Comparing The Alinsky Tradition And Friedman Approaches,...
In the article Contrasting Organization Approaching The Alinsky Tradition and Friedman
Approaches, Marty Martinson and Celena Sue discuss several ways in which Alinsky dealt with
situations which he thought could benefit the parties that were oppressed. He believed power
lies with the people and forming of organizations was one of the ways that a society or
community would receive positive results. The main premise of the organizations was to select a
leader who could be seen as an outsider with a passion to motivate members of that community to
plead their cause with the aim of winning. One example in which Alinsky s approach was
successful was during the 1930s in Chicago. The Armour s Company, which is one of the meat
parkers company was treating their employees in a very distasteful manner. For example, the
company could cut their wages three times during the year without any consultation with the
employees and they had no security as well. This was considered a huge problem since the
employees could not do anything about because they had no union representation. To address this
problem, with the help of Alinksy Backyard neighborhood council was formed; it was a coalition
of the churches, unions and approximately one hundred small businesses. This coalition held a
massive rally to address the problems that these employees faced at the workplace and the need to
get them into a union. This coalition organized a massive rally to address the plight of these
employees

Supreme Court Case Analysis
Well first of all, the supreme court is the highest judicial court in a country or state. The highest
federal court in the US, consisting of nine justices and taking judicial precedence over all other
courts in the nation (wikipedia.com). The supreme courts job is simply the final judge. In all
cases involving laws of congress, or the constitution, the supreme court gets to make the final
judgement. However, it is not all powerful. The power of the supreme court is limited by two
other branches of government. (scholastic.com). Now how do people get a job as a justice of the
supreme court? Well the president gets to appoint each justice. How do the justices decide to
hear a case or not? Not just any case can be heard by the supreme court so what makes the cases
the supreme court does hear special? The cases that the supreme court hears are ones that deal with
issues with the federal law. or if they fall within the limits of the federal government the supreme
court might decide to hear them. If a case only has to do with county or state laws than this case
will most likely stay within the states jurisdiction, or the states court system. The supreme court is
the very last step to most cases.

Regression Movie Psychology
Rating: 2 Set in Minnesota in the 1990s and supposedly based on true events, Regression threatens
more thrill than it can deliver. The dim lit, oil stained sequences follow Bruce Kenner (Ethan
Hawke) as he investigates the case of Angela Grey (Emma Watson) a young woman whose father
John (David Dencik) confesses to having sexually abused her, even though he has no specific
memory of the crime. Inferring that John has gone into denial, Bruce enlists the help of Dr Raines
(David Thewlis), an English hypnotherapist who uses regression therapy on both father and
daughter to draw out memories of the crime. As they delve it is uncovered that Angela was an
unwilling participant and victim of satanic ritual abuses. A host of other parties come under
suspicion including Kenner s colleague Nesbitt (Aaron Ashmore), Angela s distressed grandmother
Rose (Dale Dickey) and her runaway... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The central theme is incredibly ignorant, and really makes no sense. Regression fails by trying to
focus too much on the lack of proof nature of regression. The compelling ideas of influence,
suggestibility and irrational bias when applied to memory and perception under trauma are quite
interesting but those aspects are not explored with any insight whatsoever. The style and tone of
the movie shift in a very baffling fashion. On the one hand, this is a drama about mass paranoia,
false memory, superstition and the power of suggestion. On the other, it has sustained instances
of a horror movie. The healthy sprinkling of undesirable creepy faces, Cup a Soup, ominous
tomcats and close ups of hooded creatures do not do anything to alleviate the plot. The brash
background score by Roque BaГ±os is a rather corny and unsubtle affair. The few flourishes of
psychological thrill in the movie are purely visual. To his credit, Daniel AranyГі s high contrast
cinematography delivers a convincing 90s postmodern horror

Trapped by Society in John Updike s A P Essay example
Trapped by Society in John Updike s A P
People often take their place in society for granted. They accept that position into which they are
born, grow up in it, and pass that position on to their children. This cycle continues until someone
is born who has enough vision to step out of his circle and investigate other ways of life in which
he might thrive. One such person is embodied in the character of Sammy in A P, by John Updike.
Sammy is the narrator of the story and describes an incident in the store where he encounters a
conflict between the members of two completely different worlds the world that he was born into
and the world of a girl that captures his mind. Through his thoughts, attitudes, and actions, Sammy

Lastly, his family, after hearing the whole story, thought it was sad. Sammy, who understood
everything that had happened, did not. In this way he separated himself from his whole family; he
thought in such a different way that he could see things in a light that they could not.
Also emerging from Sammy s thoughts were his attitudes about his place in the world.
Throughout the story, he refers to the customers whom he is employed to serve as sheep s
derogatory term implying that he thought them to be dumb and maddeningly consistent.
However, the way he describes the girl who disrupted the flock showed that he regarded her with
an attitude of awe and high esteem. He set her apart in a class different from his own when he
described how he envisioned her family: Her father and the other men were standing around in
ice cream coats and bow ties and the women were in sandals picking up herring snacks on
toothpicks off a big plate and they were all holding drinks the color of water with olives and
sprigs of mint in them (2). Obviously, Sammy does not have a hard time deciding which class he
likes better, for he constantly refers to the store in ways that reveal his contempt for it.
Sammy s thoughts and attitudes culminate in his actions. Because he was tired of his work and the
people he encountered every day, the girls easily distracted

Code Of Ethics And The National Education Association
Some things change, some things stay the same. The National Education Association (NEA)
adopted a code of ethics in 1975 (Strike Soltis 2009, p. viii). While this code still upholds many
concerns that educators face today, it is important to make sure that a code of ethics is a breathing
document. It must adapt and change with the changing of time. Strike and Soltis (2009) reference
the code of ethicsquite regularly throughout the entire book. It is first introduced in full at the
beginning of the book. Looking over the code, it is important to remember that much has changed
since it was first adopted. While all of the code still applies, it is necessary to add to the code to
make it acceptable for the twenty first century.
The Code of Ethics, (as cited in Strike Soltis, 2009, p. x), Principle II article 7 states, [the
educator] Shall not knowingly make false or malicious statements about a colleague. A provision
under the statement should be, this includes undermining a colleague, faculty member, or a staff
member while in front of others or students. It is important that there is professionalism in the
work place. The ethical code, (as cited in Strike Soltis, 2009, p. x) truly covers students rights very
well. In Principle I Article 6 it states,
[The educator] Shall not on the basis of race, color, creed, sex, national origin, marital status,
political or religious beliefs, family, social or cultural background, or sexual orientation, unfairly:

Collective Bargaining Essay
1. Does the presence of unions increase the likelihood that management will be fairer and more
consistent with employers? Management is on the side of the employers, since many of those
positions are unable to in the union (Huston, 2010, p. 294). If the manager holds a full time
supervisor position, then they aren t eligible to join the union, which in turn may upset them when
the union renegotiates their terms, and the nurses get better benefits. An example of this is that a
floor supervisor can actually make less money than that of the floor nurse, and they don t get any
overtime pay (S. Smothers, personal communication, Fall, 2009). There are two types of relations
that unions can have with management; acceptance, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
3. Can the need for unionization be eliminated simply by management being more attentive to
worker needs and being willing to provide employees reasonable working conditions and a voice in
decision making?
I believe that when management is threatened by a union coming, they are desperate at that
moment and would try anything to avoid it from happening. Therefore they are willing to try to
negotiate with nurses to help make them feel as though they are empowered (Huston, 2010, p.
293). However, this may only be a momentarily gain for the nurse, because if they don t unionize
management will go back to their old practices. An article called The impact of collective
bargaining published by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees
(AFSCME) states decision making authority with staff nurses without a union is exceedingly rare
(2011).
Unions help to increase wages, fringe benefits, better pension plans, safety, help keep RNs and
displace other staff during layoff (if at all possible), restrict unsafe floating, and ban mandatory
overtime and shift rotation (Huston, 2010, p. 291 292, and (National Nurses United, 2010).
Without a union many of these issues would still be in play today. Plus a union will go to bat for
them when needed, which was the case in a Virginia Mason Hospital when they tried to mandate
that all nursing staff had to get immunized (Rosenbaum, 2008).

Since 1913, Clorox has had a reputation of leading the industry with its products.
This situational analysis includes industry forces, company statistics and financial information, a
list of environmental factors that deal with how the company operates, and competitor information.
Industry Forces
The Clorox Company does business within the industry of Nondurable Goods; especially relevant
to the product of Disinfecting Wipes, the company is associated with the sub industry of Household
Products. Two significant forces should be considered when examining the industry and individual
companies within this industry: innovation and competition.
Threat of Substitutes and Innovation
The threat of substitutes for the Household Products of the Nondurables Industry is high. As
mentioned before, each company produces a product that is very similar to its competitors.
Customers also have high bargaining power in that they can buy substitute products such as paper
towels and disinfecting sprays. If a company does not spend time and effort marketing its products,
consumers will not be able to differentiate them from a competitor.
The typical household product has a life of approximately five years from the conception of the
product until it is stripped from shelves. The product will go through one to two years of
development, testing, and marketing. It will then

Supervisory Influence In Greek Mythology
Projective Identification. It has long been known among residents of the schools of psychological
thought, that it is a common human tendency to project characteristics of one s self onto others or
even onto inanimate objects. An example being that one day a person walks through a park and
come across a formation of trash such that the trash resembles a smiley face. The reaction that they
would exhibit is that they would see another s face when looking at this pile of garbage is an
example of identification based on basic facial features. Similarly, humans do the same to gods,
Greek or Egyptian. Desires considered to be human, and emotions such as rage, lust, and grief are
common themes in myths surrounding these gods. In fact, such myths... Show more content on

Other areas of psychology suggest that humans believe God(s) exist(s) because they are simply
used to having an entity watch over them, and because personalities desire the security and growth
found from a supervisory relationship. Often in religion there are rules that shall not be disobeyed,
or punishment that one would wish to avoid. In the Bible, one should act righteously by the
commandments, lest they risk their eternal damnation in the pits of hell. In Greek mythology, cruel
and unethical behavior may lead to the fields of punishment. And Hinduism s cycle of rebirth and
karma dictates that if one acts unrighteously within this life, they shall surely be reborn as a being
whose very existence is viewed as unpleasant, such as a barnacle. Varying takes on punishment
aside, it is clear that religion and mythology have their own views on morality and the relative
consequence of one s actions. But the fact remains that such stories exist to remind society as a
whole that it should not behave in an immoral fashion. This being the case, it could be said that
the deciding forces, Karma, God, and gods exist to supervise people, much as a parent or teacher
would. Such myths and religious ideals exist to prevent conflict, and regardless of religious conflict
in the world today, ideas such as the Ten Commandments remind humanity as a whole that the true
aim of religion was truly to discourage conflict and encourage harmony. Have respect for life. The
commandment You shall not kill means an obligation for a culture of non violence. (Kässmann, M.

Eardrum Perforation
Eardrum Perforation
An eardrum perforation is a puncture or tear in the eardrum. This is also called a ruptured eardrum.
The eardrum is a thin, round tissue inside your ear that separates the ear canal from the middle ear.
This is the tissue that detects sound and enables you to hear. An eardrumperforation can cause
discomfort and hearing loss. In most cases, the eardrum will heal without treatment and with little
or no permanent hearing loss.
CAUSES
Sudden pressure changes that happen in situations such as scuba diving or flying in an airplane.
Foreign objects in the ear.
Inserting a cotton tipped swab or any blunt object in the ear.

Amendments to the National Constitution
Background In the U.S. legal system, the Constitution forms the basic template for legal theory and
management of law. This document formed the bases for the U.S. government and defined the
three main sections: Executive, Legislative and Judicial. We must remember, too, that the idea of
this constitution of removing ties to a monarchy and setting up a separate government by the
people, for the people, was a very radical idea in the 18th century and had a background not only in
the various documents from the Mayflower Compact to the numerous colonial governmental
charters. There, were however, numerous compromises that had to be made to ensure ratification of
the Constitution. However, had these compromises not been made, (e.g. slavery, etc.) it is unlikely
the colonies would have come together to ratify the document, and the British may have prevailed.

The Public s Argument Against Nuclear Waste
The necessity for a new type of energy increases with every year. Energy consumption rates are
increasing continuously, and with them, pollution and wastes directly harming the Earth and her
atmosphere. While other energy competitors constantly fell short of impacting fossil fuels enough
to significantly lower their usage rates, nuclear energy can not only compete against the highly
efficient yet harmful fossil fuels but can reign as king as a more efficient and cleaner source of
energy. There are two pivotal arguments against nuclear energy: the public s perception and nuclear
waste. In arguments pertaining to this topic, it is commonly asked as the waste continues to build
up, what can be done with it? However, Bennie Olsen stated, All... Show more content on

Casks are double walled containers, created from high grade steel, which protect the waste and
prevent radioactivity from escaping. These casks can then store the waste for over a century
and can withstand harsh treatment such as surviving over 30 minutes in a fire at 1,470 degrees
Fahrenheit or being struck by a locomotive traveling at 90 miles per hour. In both of these tests,
the casks protected their load and prevented exposure. There have been approximately 24,000
casks used worldwide, and not a single time has a cask failed to contain the nuclear waste within

energy. It wouldn t be practical to power cars with nuclear energy, nor would it be efficient to use
nuclear energy in a location dominated by flowing rivers where hydroelectric power would prove
more effective. Additionally, locating a nuclear reactor on a fault line would be an accident waiting

Proposition 2 Argumentative Analysis
Proposition 2 explains that what someone does and how others view the actions one does in
coordination with one another is closely tied to identities (Christiansen, 1999). Furthermore,
Proposition 2 states that language, verbal or nonverbal, is an important influence on identities
because one learns self awareness which then impacts how that person acts around others due to
societal cues. For example, a child learns that a behavior is not acceptable due to language
spoken to them through someone else s facial expressions, like a frown, or direct communication
between the child and someone else. People learn how to act and how to set their goals in life by
the experience of doing things that others will approve or disapprove of. 6.Discuss and provide
an example of Proposition 3 and 4 from the Christiansen article. Proposition 3 explains that
identities can impact someone s behavior and view on his or her life depending on how that person
views an event that occurred in his or her life. Events can be looked at by examining if the event
held a meaningful, personal experience to a person. Furthermore, this proposition explains that
identities are socially interconnected to one another because someone s identity can positively or...

Is Hemophilia A Possible Cause Of Unexpected Bleeding...
Introduction
Hemophilia is a possible cause of unexpected bleeding during surgery. This paper will discuss
important topics related to hemophilia, including pathology, risk factors, signs and symptoms, and
treatment.
Anatomy and Physiology of Hemostasis
Hemostasis is the process whereby blood coagulates at the site of an injury to a blood vessel.
Cellular components involved in hemostasis include platelets, endothelial cells of blood vessels,
tissue factor bearing cells, and coagulation factors (Davoren Wang, 2014). Coagulation factors are
specialized plasma proteins that circulate in the bloodstream in inactive forms. Most coagulation
factors are activated by enzymes that catalyze their conversion to active forms. The active forms
then contribute to hemostasis. Factors VIII (FVIII) and IX (FIX) are the factors involved in the
most common forms of hemophilia. The coagulation cascade has many steps and reciprocal
interactions; however, FVIII and FIX are most involved with the following steps:
Injured blood vessel cells release tissue factor (TF), which activates factor VII.
Activated factor VII (FVIIa) and TF bind together to form complex TF VIIa.
Complex TF VIIa activates FIX and X.
Activated factor X converts prothrombin to thrombin.
Thrombin activates factors VIII, V, and XI.
Activated FVIII and FIX also convert prothrombin to thrombin (Davoren Wang, 2014).
There are other coagulation factors, enzymes, and steps involved in the coagulation cascade. As

We live in a society in which we are in a state of constant fear of diseases. From when we are
young we are taught repeatedly to wash our hands before every meal and to eat an apple daily.
Moreover, we are catechized on a regular basis to bundle up so we do not catch a cold or

INDIRECT QUOTE. Lastly, the nutrient is easily found in the livers of beef and calves as well
as in seafood such as oysters (Nicolaou Montagnon, 2008). Next, we will discuss why vitamin C
is critical for existence. Vitamin C is crucial for survival for several reasons. For a human body
to reach the acme of its physical potential, it must have a daily intake of vitamin C. Deficiency
can lead to a fatal symptom known as scurvy. Likewise, iron absorption will be more difficult
resulting in iron deficiency anemia (Smith, Primio Humphrey Murto, 2011). However, this
nutrient is essential for bodily functions as well. Vitamin C is required for hormone production
which is seen by the fact that the highest concentration of it in the human body is in the pituitary
and adrenal glands (Emsley, 2004). Moreover, this vitamin aids in protection against free radicals
and stress. Vitamin C is also imperative because it assists in the growth of various body parts,
including teeth, cartilage, and dentine. This acid is integral for bone development and to heal
fractured or broken bones. As said before, Vitamin C is important in the absorption and metabolism
of many nutrients that affect production of red blood cells , including iron absorption (Smith,
Primio, Humphrey Murto, 2011). DIRECT QUOTE WITHOUT AUTHOR. Similar to its

Examples Of Adversity In Finding Forrester
Sheryl Sandberg once said, Turning feelings into words can help us process and overcome
adversity. The meaning of this quote, talks about how venting hidden thoughts and feelings by
external means, will prove effective if confronted with adversity in life. There is a certain courage
required to write about one s self; in the end the risk often pays off. In the film, Finding Forrester ,
the director Gus Van Santemploys clever use of character development to suggest ideas about the

Why Animals Survive The Winter Research Paper
With snow, ski season, and the holidays upon us, it is easy to tell that we ve made it into the
winter season. Luckily, winter doesn t mean we have to stay indoors! The Vail Valley offers the
opportunity to ski, snowboard, snowshoe, sled and a wide variety of other activities to stay active
and outdoors in the winter. However, unlike us, many animals are not able to remain active and
outdoors for the winter due to the bitter cold. Animals have a variety of mechanisms they use to
survive the cold winters, three of the strategies animals use to survive the winter are: adapting,
hibernating, or migrating. For us humans, adapting to the winter means turning up the heat in our
houses, wearing winter coats, and finding activities to replace the things we can no longer do
outside. For animals, adapting is a bit more difficult. Animals like elk and moose adapt to the
frigid temperatures by growing thicker coats to keep them warm, these coats will then be shed in
the spring. Similarly, some animals change the color of their coats. Snowshoe hare s coats change
to white which is warmer and better at camouflaging with the snow. White fur is warmer because
the lack of pigment leaves more room for air to be trapped in... Show more content on

Risk factors for heart disease cause problems because inevitably, they lead to atherosclerosis.
Atherosclerosis is the deposition of plaques of fatty material on the inner walls of the arteries (

happen in any part of the body. Around the heart, it is known as coronary artery disease because
coronary arteries feed the heart muscle itself. Coronary heart disease symptoms include angina

The buildup of plaque will narrow the arteries; this makes it impossible for blood to travel

Which was all done for the rush of excitement. While hiding in the water that was previously

Around 140 million years ago India separated from the still connected South America African and
Antarctica Australian landmasses and drifted northward until it collided with Eurasia (Europe and
Asia). This collision created a continental block which caused a separation of the Antarctica
Australia landmass and caused the individual landmasses to shift in opposite directions (Whitmore

northwestward. Around 15 million years ago, Australia converged with Asia, uniting the diverse

separation of these two landmasses that has dynamically shaped the present day distribution of
unique ecosystems and species found on the Asian and Australian continents, as well as on the

When Wallace drew his hypothetical line to define the boundary between Asian and Australian

morphological observations of cockatoos found on Lombork and Bali, and of parrots found on

public. Some Jews were to do awful things like to clean the streets or to do rude things towards
other Jewish people but the germans that was near by were laughing or enjoying their time. This
show that Jews are getting overpowered by the Nazi. The reason that the Nazi have power is by
people who followed him and bystanders that let them feel like they power or control. There were ...

Billy Budd Analysis
Billy Budd is the story of the sailor Billy Budd and his time on the H.M.S Bellipotent during the
last decade of the 18th century, after being impressed from the previous ship he was on The Rights
of Man . He was seen as a handsome sailor , and was loved by his old crew. He was also innocent
to a fault. This man could not see the bador suspicious in someone at all. In the context of this
novel, he was the purest good in this ship, which could also be seen as a microcosm of the world
as it was. Billy as a whole is seen mainly as a man without fault. He could do no wrong in his
world, because he is the personification of all that is good. This makes his one flaw, that being
his stutter, the perfect aspect of his being to show us of the dangers of innocence. The fact that he
cannot bring words out to defend himself against the malice tossed at him because his very being
will not allow him to even comprehend that there are people in the world with such ill intent. Ill
intent does not exist to him, and it ultimately proved to be his undoing. As if almost a flip of a
coin, Claggart can be seen as the complete opposite than that of Billy. An ugly man, in both the
figurative and literal sense, Claggart s innate malice is without cause or limit. While Billy lacks the
awareness of the differences of human actions and the intentions behind them, Claggart knows
these differences all too well. He has a great understanding of deception and ambiguity that he uses

Free Market Economy Essay
A free market is a type of market that the government is not involved in. Since the government
does not care about what happens, the free market is also called hands off or let it be economics .
The government is limited to protect the citizens from the danger and that is the major goal for the
government. In the free marketeconomy, there are three components of the free market economy:
competition, active but limited government, and the self interest. Competition is one of the main
components of the free market economy. Competition means that the companies compete with one
another to make more benefits to themselves. According to the concept of the free market economy,

The government does not necessarily need to intervene how the marker goes. Therefore, the
competition is a significant factor of the free marker economy.Active but limited government is
another main part of the free market economy. This means that the government undertakes a
significant, active role in the market, but at the same time the government s role is ver limited
because all the investments and decisions in the economy are controlled by the market than by the
government. An invisible hand will control the market. Limited government is a type of
government in which there is a minimum intervention in personal properties. Overall, the
government tries to keep the economy in a law and let it free by limiting itself. Hence, the limited
government is an essential factor of the free market economy.Last, self interest is a significant part
of the free market economy. Self interest refers to one s desire to buy something. The market will
be generally controlled by people s interest; the companies will compete with one another to fit the
best taste. This is because the people s interest will be the main trend in the market and it will
control what should be made in the market. Consequently, the market will be self regulated
according to the theory of a free market. Therefore, the self interest is another significant factor of
the free market economy. Therefore, the competition, the

Much Ado About Nothing Quote Analysis
In the evaluation of the third act of the play, Much Ado About Nothing written by William
Shakespeare, it is clear and evident that one quote stands out among all the others to show the
most meaning and the most important to the vitality of the third act of the play. In the text,
Shakespeare states, The word is too good to paint out her wickedness. I could say she were
worse. Think you of a worse title, and I will fit her to it. Wonder not till further warrant. Go but
with me tonight, you shall see her chamber window entered, even the night before her wedding day.
If you loveher then, tomorrow wed her. But it would better fit your honor to change your mind
(3.2.102 109). When Don John, the play s infamous villian, decides to trick Claudio into thinking
that Hero is disloyal, it demonstrates the overall feeling of sabotage in the third act, all in
combination with the lie that Don John has created and released among the other characters to try
and inflict sadness on the fiancГ© of Hero, or Claudio. Overall, the critiacal aspect of this quote to

Earlier in the play, a scene was described where Borachio and Don John plan to trick Claudio into
thinking that Hero is diwsloyal because of a man in her chamber the night prior to her wedding.
After the stated quote, the intent is to try and trick Claudio and show that Hero is disloyal when
she is actually not. This quote presents significance by describing the overall trait of the entire act
and scene which is the trickery and sabotage of Borachio and Don John upon the hapiness of all of
the other characters in the play. Overall, the previouly described scene, in part with an already
confused Claudio, makes this quote important to the wedding of Claudio and

in the home. Whist i was reading the extract from the care quality commission report i picked up on
a number of hazards that could potentially cause harm to individuals in the home.
As the inspector approached the building, he rung the door bell and it didn t work, this is a
potential hazard because the staff wouldn t know if there was anyone there to see their family or
friends, its also bad because in this care, someone important was arriving. The main door was also
unlocked and there wasn t anyone on the reception, these are big hazards because anyone can get
access into the building and could seriously physically harm anyone in the building.

Argumentative Analysis
Video games impact the brain in a wide variety of ways. Some people could, and have, made the
argument that video games are destructive for children and that they become a distraction from
actual educational work (Bavelier, Green, Han, Renshaw, Merzenich, Gentile, 2011). On the other
hand, one could certainly argue that video games could be a valuable tool in the learning
environment (Bavelier, Green, Han, Renshaw, Merzenich, Gentile, 2011). At any rate, there are
several different, and accurate views on the subject.
The initial argument I mentioned about video games is probably the one you hear about most
often. How many times have you heard a set of parents say that their child is rotting away in front
of a video game. Well, there is actually some truth to that. Children who show addictive behavior in
regards to video games have also shown symptoms that are typical in addicts of other sorts
(Bavelier, Green, Han, Renshaw, Merzenich, Gentile, 2011). Some domains that are affected by this
type of behavior include behavioral, social, academic, occupational, and developmental (Bavelier,
Green, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are also many studies that show how video games increase peripheral perception,
processing speed, and memory (Bavelier, Green, Han, Renshaw, Merzenich, Gentile, 2011).
Also, depending on the type of video game a particular person is playing, it can be used as an
effective training scenario(Bavelier, Green, Han, Renshaw, Merzenich, Gentile, 2011). The idea
here is that video games can be used as a productive tool for people of all ages, professions, and
lifestyles, if they are utilized correctly (Bavelier, Green, Han, Renshaw, Merzenich, Gentile, 2011).
An issue that may come up is trying to find the happy area in the middle of the people who don t
use games at all and the ones that are using them excessively and becoming

Aquinas Cosmological Argument Analysis
In the Cosmological argument, we are presented with a very sound argument. In this argument,
Aquinas is answering the question of why there has to be a first cause and why the first cause is
God. He tells us that everything that exist in this universe needs an explanation for why it exist.
Secondly, Aquinas tells us that all the objects that exist now were caused to exist by other objects
before them and this cycle goes on. Thirdly, he tells us the universe couldn t possibly be something
that goes on infinitely. Aquinas thinks there has to be something that caused this a first cause.
Lastly, Aquinas tells us the only possible thing that caused all of this is God. In this paper, I will be
defending Aquinas Cosmological Argument. Aquinas first premise is everything, every person,
plant, or object, that exist in this universe needs an explanation for why it exist. I believe there is
a logical reason for why everything exist and everything that happens has an explanation. For
example, we need water to survive. If we don t have water, we will eventually die of dehydration.
We need some of the smallest things in life. If we were to apply this premise to the universe, a
small thing many people don t... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If we were to apply this to the universe, a good example of this would be human beings. Human
beings seem to be in a cyclical process. This process consist of being born, living your life,
having children, and dying. Every human being is born to a set of parents. Every human being
from birth until death lives their live. Many people settle down and have children. Other people
adopt or don t have children. And hopefully after living a long, well lived life, we die. Human
beings that are born in this world were caused to exist by their parents. Their parents were caused
to exist in the world because of their parents. This cycle seems to go on

The Ordinary Least Squares Technique
We will use principally the technique of OLS. Studenmund defines OLS as a regression esti mation
technique that calculates the ОІ^ so as to maximise the sum of the squared residuals. So this means
that it minimises the differences between the actual values of the variables and the estimated values
of them. What will interest us then is the ОІ coefficients. He interprets these ОІs as the change of
the dependent variable associated with a one unit increase in the inde pendent variable in question
holding the other independent variables in the equation constant. So a ОІ value of 0.07 would mean
that y changes by 7% for a one unit increase of x. These ОІs then will be the main basis of our
results. But we also have to have measures to see how well the equation explains the relationship
be tween the dependent variables and the independent variables. Studenmund focuses on two
techniques. The first is by analysing the R2. This captures how much of the variation of the
dependent variable is explained by the estimated regression equation. (Studenmund, p.47) The
value of R2 can be between 0 and 1 and the higher is the value the closer the estimated equation
fits the sample data. In fact a better measure of R2 is R bar squared as it takes into account the
degrees of freedom in the model. However, he notes that R bar squared alone is not enough to
explain the success of our model. There could be other factors so, it is an im portant estimate but
not in we can fully rely on. He also warns

holiday that was considered the end of the years and the beginning or the new year. It is the time
that is between time. Samhain was changed to All Hallows when Christianity was booming. But
the Christians celebrated it on May 13, but since this was one of the favorite pagan holidays, it
was not easily given up, so the Christians moved the date of their All Saints/ All Hallows from
May to November first, the day after Samhain. Later in England, the holiday was abolished
because of all the pagan undertones that it had and was not restored until 1928. The reason for
restoring it then was because there was an assumption that all the old pagans have died... Show

The animals I do agree with are the Cat and the Bat because both are creatures of the night, and
the cat is very mysterious. I would not have thought of a dog at all, but more so of a Crow, since
they are also mysterious and symbolize death to me. The stones associated with Samhain makes
sense because they are the colors of Samhain also. And the symbols I associate with Samhain
because they have just been instilled into my head. Jack O Lanterns keep away the bad spirits,
Masks are to hide yourself so the spirits think that you are one of them, the waning moon makes

Religion is a major theme in the life of Pi. Pi becomes a Christian, and a Muslim throughout his
childhood, and was born a Hindu. Being able to love thee rather different religions at once shows
the immense love he has for god. However, Pi s strong faith in god becomes much less prominent
when he s on the lifeboat with the animals. In other words, his physical needs take over and
dominate over his religious ones. He still worships his gods, however is occasionally. Whenever
he finds a fish or any source of food, he thanks his gods. For example when he reached the
carnivorous island, he thanked god like crazy(page 233). However, he later discovered that it
was a man eating island. I think the author included this to show that Pi is continuing to lose his
faith in god, and after this discovery he has lost even more confidence in god. This shows signs
of doubt in Pi s mind, he doesn t understand what he should thank god for. Does this mean he
completely lost his faith in god, not necessarily. He could still have a little bit of faith left in god,
but we can be sure that it s not as strong as it once

Michael Foucault s Different Forms of Power Essay
Michael Foucault s Different Forms of Power
Michael Foucault distinguishes between two different and distinct forms of power, disciplinary
and sovereign. Fouccault describes disciplinary power as the new type of power in the modern
civilization. The use of disciplinary power transpired in the 17th and 18th century, and it used
specific procedures such as distributing individuals into space, controls of activity, observation,
judging, and examination, to regulate the people. The first way to create discipline is to distribute
individuals in space. This space is usually analytical and physical. Discipline demands enclose, so
that you see everything that is going on. Inside of this enclosure there is a partitioning where each ...

We have something similar to this in gymnastics. We do and exhibition where everything need to
be perfectly times and everyone s movements in their tumbling needs to be the exact same. We
break down the movements of the back handsprings and backs flips and learn how to do the
special movements exactly the same as everyone else, so we look together. To be able to have our
exhibitions be successful we need constant monitoring to see if we are with the music and with
each other. The next step to achieving discipline is through observation. This gives you powerby
simply observing visually seeing what is going on. In this you are under constant surveillance.
By being put under this constant examination you are always being put to the test to see if you
measure up to set standards. An example of this is the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. You are
always under constant surveillance, even when you are not in uniform or performing. Even if
you are not wearing anything associated with the organization, and are out going to the local 7
11 and you look bad, you can get in a lot of trouble. You are always held to a standard with how you
look at how much you weigh. In the DCC you are weighed every week and you re not allowed to
gain more than five pounds or you will be dropped off the squad if you do not lose the extra
weight. This brings us to the next part of discipline, normalizing judgment. This is where you have

Critica Critical Thinking
Social research is trustworthy because it is systematic and empirical. By being systematic,
social research is not just carelessly looking for clues, but is structured. Social research must be
logical, consistent, methodical, and coherent. By being empirical, social research is based on
physical evidence. This evidence, or data, is defined by our senses; we can hear, see, touch, feel,
or smell it. Social research is not when someone powerful or smart simply states something as true.
While the social world may be crazy, the study of the world must be orderly. According to the
article, critical thinking is when you don t accept or reject something, but ask questions and analyze
the content. Critical thinking is asking why as opposed to what.

  • 2. Gender Is Not As Cut And Dry As You Might Think Sir! Sir! Do you realize this is the ladies room? The concept of gender is not as cut and dry as you might think. The term gender is often used incorrectly as a synonym for our biological sex. Gender is more of a predetermined set of ideas and characteristics used in identifying socially acceptable behaviors and appearances for the sexes. It is not determined by the biological sex of the person. From an early age we begin to develop ideas of what it means to be male or female by observing others. Genderfalls on a spectrum from masculine to feminine with many combinations in between. Gender expression and gender identity are also not the same thing. Gender expression is not related directly to how a person perceives their gender,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People with gender Identity crises do not feel their genitalia reflects who they are inside. They may feel a powerful drive to have their genitalia match their self image opting for sex reassignment surgery. Gender expression is far more relaxed than it has been throughout our history in America, but it still poses a problems for some on a daily basis. Gender expression is one area where women have a social advantage over men. It is far more socially acceptable for a woman to dress masculine than for a man to dress feminine; although neither are without predigests. Using a public restrooms seems like a simple task to the majority of us. This is not the case for people who fall outside the gender norm. Seldom does one have a choice beyond boy s room or girl s room. This can be a very stressful environment if your outward appearance doesn t match your biological sex. Spotlighting those who are not perceived by society as gender normal could lead to depression, anxiety and self loathing. Something as simple as going to the restroom in the mall could lead to a violent encounter. This would be greatly reduced of people would just be more observant. This all because society developed rules everyone must follow in order to be perceived as normal. Today s young people tend to be more aware of the gender spectrum. Terms like gender identity and gender expression are better understood. Words like ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Ideology Of Punk Rock Ideology What is punk rock? How many people know the real definition? Punk rocks values, attitude, and ideologies? Punk rock isn t just a style or a scene but a way of life. It all started in the late 1970s, originating from the working class angst and frustrations many youth were feeling about the economic inequality. One of punks main oppositions was rejection of mainstream, corporate mass culture and its values. It continued to evolve its ideology of anti racist and anti sexist belief systems as the movement spread from its origins in England and New York to Northern America. The attitude common in the subculture is the resistance to selling out, which means abandoning one s values and changing in musical style toward pop to embrace anything that s mainstream capitalist culture in the exchange for money, status, or power. Punk rocks common thinking wasn t only anti authoritarism, and not selling out but also non conformity, direct action, and a DIY ethic. The DIY attitude was pointed towards stepping forward and speaking without any restraint. To fight with warrior qualities to achieve what you were striving for. The kind of thinking and motives for punk rocksubjects was to not settle for what society made acceptable and standard but to think and work outside of the box that was holding them in. Punk rock ideologies were expressed though music and lyrics, punk literature, fashion and visual art. In the beginning punk fashionevolved everyday objects like safety pins and ... • 4. Zelda s Relationship With F. Scott Fitzgerald Title: The life of Zelda Fitzgerald and her relationship with F. Scott Fitzgerald Thesis: Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald is generally remembered as the flamboyant wife of novelist F. Scott Fitzgerald. Zelda, named after a gypsy queen in a novel, however, was a talented writer in her own right, recognized for her biting and bantering style. I.Introduction Zelda is sick and Mr. Fitzgerald is not allowed to see her Thesis Statement: Perhaps Fitzgerald was not the inevitable male companion, she would choose out of the entire world, she writes in a long letter to Oppenheimer and Guinzburg, but he was moderately sober and pretty d*** nice. Besides she couldn t help herself but to feel sorry for him with Zelda having been institutionalized since January.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He was a first lieutenant in the infantry stationed at Camp Sheridan, Alabama, but profoundly interested in matters relating to the war. What he was interested in other than himself, and his dream s of a literary career was a beautiful blond ballerina, and that he saw performing The Dance of the Hour s at a country club in Montgomery. He thought he had never seen anyone so lovely, but when he inquired and he was told that the girl, Zelda Sayre was far too young for him and having just graduated from high school the month before. Zelda had in fact just turned 18 while he was about to turn 22 and he approached the beautiful ballerina, and the attraction was immediate and explosive. But both were fabulously good looking, but both were high strung and excitable, and both loved to live on the edge, and both were deeply self absorbed. Soon Scott was carving their initials on the country club doorpost and phoning Zelda every day that he was unable to visit. On September 7, 1918, Scott Fitzgerald wrote in his meticulously kept ledger of life events that he had fallen in love with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Lab Report On Corpus Christi Several species and organisms rely on water to survive. Some organisms use it as a source to drink and others uses water as their living environment. This experiment is to calculate many aspects of the water that surrounds Corpus Christi. Water is the key to life on Earth and thus why water is so important. According to the Lab Report water quality is the quality of water and if it is considered acceptable drinking water. Water quality consist of its chemical, physical and biological characteristics. These properties can be studied through pHtesting, nitrogen testing, Phosphorous testing and many other useful ways. Water quality is important because it allows scientist to identify if the water is in a good condition to drink or sustain life overall and it dramatically effects how healthy it is. The objective of this lab was to experiment if the water quality around the Corpus Christiis a reliable source of water for organisms and to reach an understanding of the water quality of the water surrounding Corpus Christi. STUDY AREA The location of the water sampling was in three different areas known as the Ward Island, Oso Bride, and Packery Channel. For the Ward Island and the Packery Channel were both well cleaned and little to no trash in the property. As for the Oso bridge the location was surrounded with unwanted trash. Shown in figure 1 is a variety of trash that interrupts the growth of organisms in the location throughout Oso bridge. The Oso bridge had several small like rocks throughout the location, while the Ward Island consisted of sand, and the Packery Channel had a variation of mud and sand. The weather was fairly similar in all locations especially the Packery Channel and the Oso bridge because the experiments were conducted on the same day. The weather for all consisted with an average of 80 degrees. For all three experiments the wind was blowing somewhat fast at a speed of 15 17 miles per hour. MATERIALS AND METHODS For this experiment, there is several materials needed to have a successful lab experiment. This includes the basic utensils such as the datasheets, pencil, and a notepad to add additional notes. Following the list of materials, you will need three bottles to collect sampling water ... • 6. Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy For Advanced Chronic... Proposal Title: Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy in Advanced Chronic Kidney Disease: Impact on Patient Centered Outcomes Background In the United States, over 5 million patients have heart failure (HF) and approximately 20 million patients have chronic kidney disease (CKD). Both conditions are linked by multiple risk factors including obesity, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, tobacco abuse, and increasing age. The presence of HF increases the risk of CKD and vice versa. Nearly one third of all patients with HF and 70% of Medicare patients with HF have Stage III CKD or greater and approximately 50% of dialysis dependent end stage renal disease (ESRD) patients will develop HF. Patients with medication refractory HF and CKD and their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) emerged as an important treatment for HF patients with systolic dysfunction and a prolonged QRS duration. Although findings from landmark trials have led to widespread use of CRT in many patient cohorts, there has been considerable controversy surrounding its use in patients with advanced CKD because these patients are poorly represented in these trials. The few published studies exploring the use of CRT in advanced CKD have shown modest reduction in HF hospitalization or death, but those studies have been limited by their small size, retrospective nature, and lack of data on patient centered outcomes (e.g. functional status and quality of life). The lack of data regarding how CRT impacts outcomes among patients with advanced CKD is a major problem especially in light of the results of an unpublished analysis of the National Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR) Implantable Cadioverter Defibrillator (ICD) Database (which captures data on most patients who receive a CRT D device in the United States) demonstrating that 37% of patients receiving a CRT device had advanced CKD (defined as CKD Stage III V). There are no prospective studies that have evaluated, or are in the process of evaluating, CRT in patients with advanced CKD. This issue is further compounded by the potentially higher risk of procedural complications in such patients. Physicians ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hypothesis If the pressure of a gas is at a constant volume then pressure will be proportional because as temperature rises, pressure also goes up. P в€ ќ T which can also be written as P=kT and be rearranged as P/T=k and also Pi/Ti = Pf/Tf. This is considered the Gay Lussac Law. Pressure is proportional to temperature and inversely proportional to volume and volume is proportional to temperature. As Gay Lussac has a law, Charles and Boyles has their personal laws. Boyles thinks that there is an inverse relationship between pressure and volume for gases with constant amounts of gas and at a constant temperature. This statement mathematically is P в€ ќ 1/V. It means that pressure is inversely proportional to volume. Charles Law states that the volume of a fixed amount of gas, at the same pressure, is proportional to its temperature. If temperature doubles, the volume doubles. Mathematically, it is Vi/Ti=Vf/Tf. All these law combined is called the combined gas law and can be mathematically expressed like PiVi/Ti = PfVf/Tf. This gas law includes the shared relationship between pressure, volume, and temperature, which include the variables in Boyles, Charles and Gay Lussac s Law. The combined gas law shows that pressure is inversely proportional to volume, or higher volume equals lower pressure, pressure is directly proportional to temperature or higher temperature equals higher pressure, and also that volume is directly proportional to temperature, or higher temperature equals higher ... • 8. The Latin Artist Essay The Latin Artist The Latin experience as a whole encapsulates a world that not many get to experience. Those who do, brag of its liveliness; those who don t, gawk at it. What isn t known is how the latin artist, whose culture places values on work and family much higher than creative expression, survives through such tyranny. Artists such as Gabriel Marquez and Gabriel Mistra use their culture to inspire their writing. Their work, much like the work of other writers and poets, is depressing to say the least. With no support from a community, these artists use metaphors, vivid imagery, and other effective literary devices in order to convey the neglect that they have grown accustomed to. The idea that other people will eventually influence her daughter s decisions convinces her that other s will tell her daughter to leave her. This is a very real fear that mothers of Latin American descent are historically known for having. The mother in this poem so afraid that her daughter will grow up and not want to be around her anymore that she lets this thought haunt her. I do not want them to turn my child into a swallow (Mistral). The swallow in this poem symbolizes a bird leaving the nest. As the poem progresses, the reader learns more about the small threats that the mother feels. As is apparent by the popular and critical acclaim lavished upon her work about motherhood, Mistral was able to touch upon the very real emotions of the experience even though she did not live the experience herself. Reverend Hale represents a good uncorrupt holy man, unlike Parris, and we have chosen a New Testament bible due to his piety, but also due to the Congregationalist Protestant faith which settled in New England. Hale presents himself as an educated man of the world and at the time only priests became educated so we have chosen a textbook. • 10. Comparing The Alinsky Tradition And Friedman Approaches,... In the article Contrasting Organization Approaching The Alinsky Tradition and Friedman Approaches, Marty Martinson and Celena Sue discuss several ways in which Alinsky dealt with situations which he thought could benefit the parties that were oppressed. He believed power lies with the people and forming of organizations was one of the ways that a society or community would receive positive results. The main premise of the organizations was to select a leader who could be seen as an outsider with a passion to motivate members of that community to plead their cause with the aim of winning. One example in which Alinsky s approach was successful was during the 1930s in Chicago. The Armour s Company, which is one of the meat parkers company was treating their employees in a very distasteful manner. For example, the company could cut their wages three times during the year without any consultation with the employees and they had no security as well. This was considered a huge problem since the employees could not do anything about because they had no union representation. To address this problem, with the help of Alinksy Backyard neighborhood council was formed; it was a coalition of the churches, unions and approximately one hundred small businesses. This coalition held a massive rally to address the problems that these employees faced at the workplace and the need to get them into a union. • 11. Supreme Court Case Analysis Well first of all, the supreme court is the highest judicial court in a country or state. The highest federal court in the US, consisting of nine justices and taking judicial precedence over all other courts in the nation (wikipedia.com). The supreme courts job is simply the final judge. In all cases involving laws of congress, or the constitution, the supreme court gets to make the final judgement. However, it is not all powerful. The power of the supreme court is limited by two other branches of government. (scholastic.com). Now how do people get a job as a justice of the supreme court? Well the president gets to appoint each justice. How do the justices decide to hear a case or not? Not just any case can be heard by the supreme court so what makes the cases the supreme court does hear special? The cases that the supreme court hears are ones that deal with issues with the federal law. or if they fall within the limits of the federal government the supreme court might decide to hear them. If a case only has to do with county or state laws than this case will most likely stay within the states jurisdiction, or the states court system. Inferring that John has gone into denial, Bruce enlists the help of Dr Raines (David Thewlis), an English hypnotherapist who uses regression therapy on both father and daughter to draw out memories of the crime. The style and tone of the movie shift in a very baffling fashion. On the one hand, this is a drama about mass paranoia, false memory, superstition and the power of suggestion. On the other, it has sustained instances of a horror movie. The healthy sprinkling of undesirable creepy faces, Cup a Soup, ominous tomcats and close ups of hooded creatures do not do anything to alleviate the plot. They accept that position into which they are born, grow up in it, and pass that position on to their children. This cycle continues until someone is born who has enough vision to step out of his circle and investigate other ways of life in which he might thrive. One such person is embodied in the character of Sammy in A P, by John Updike. Sammy is the narrator of the story and describes an incident in the store where he encounters a conflict between the members of two completely different worlds the world that he was born into and the world of a girl that captures his mind. Sammy, who understood everything that had happened, did not. In this way he separated himself from his whole family; he thought in such a different way that he could see things in a light that they could not. Also emerging from Sammy s thoughts were his attitudes about his place in the world. Throughout the story, he refers to the customers whom he is employed to serve as sheep s derogatory term implying that he thought them to be dumb and maddeningly consistent. However, the way he describes the girl who disrupted the flock showed that he regarded her with an attitude of awe and high esteem. He set her apart in a class different from his own when he described how he envisioned her family: Her father and the other men were standing around in ice cream coats and bow ties and the women were in sandals picking up herring snacks on toothpicks off a big plate and they were all holding drinks the color of water with olives and sprigs of mint in them (2). Obviously, Sammy does not have a hard time deciding which class he likes better, for he constantly refers to the store in ways that reveal his contempt for it. The National Education Association (NEA) adopted a code of ethics in 1975 (Strike Soltis 2009, p. viii). While this code still upholds many concerns that educators face today, it is important to make sure that a code of ethics is a breathing document. It must adapt and change with the changing of time. Strike and Soltis (2009) reference the code of ethicsquite regularly throughout the entire book. It is first introduced in full at the beginning of the book. Looking over the code, it is important to remember that much has changed since it was first adopted. While all of the code still applies, it is necessary to add to the code to make it acceptable for the twenty first century. The Code of Ethics, (as cited in Strike Soltis, 2009, p. x), Principle II article 7 states, [the educator] Shall not knowingly make false or malicious statements about a colleague. Management is on the side of the employers, since many of those positions are unable to in the union (Huston, 2010, p. 294). If the manager holds a full time supervisor position, then they aren t eligible to join the union, which in turn may upset them when the union renegotiates their terms, and the nurses get better benefits. An example of this is that a floor supervisor can actually make less money than that of the floor nurse, and they don t get any overtime pay (S. Smothers, personal communication, Fall, 2009). Can the need for unionization be eliminated simply by management being more attentive to worker needs and being willing to provide employees reasonable working conditions and a voice in decision making? I believe that when management is threatened by a union coming, they are desperate at that moment and would try anything to avoid it from happening. Therefore they are willing to try to negotiate with nurses to help make them feel as though they are empowered (Huston, 2010, p. 293). However, this may only be a momentarily gain for the nurse, because if they don t unionize management will go back to their old practices. An article called The impact of collective bargaining published by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) states decision making authority with staff nurses without a union is exceedingly rare (2011). Unions help to increase wages, fringe benefits, better pension plans, safety, help keep RNs and displace other staff during layoff (if at all possible), restrict unsafe floating, and ban mandatory overtime and shift rotation (Huston, 2010, p. 291 292, and (National Nurses United, 2010). Without a union many of these issues would still be in play today. The reaction that they would exhibit is that they would see another s face when looking at this pile of garbage is an example of identification based on basic facial features. Often in religion there are rules that shall not be disobeyed, or punishment that one would wish to avoid. In the Bible, one should act righteously by the commandments, lest they risk their eternal damnation in the pits of hell. In Greek mythology, cruel and unethical behavior may lead to the fields of punishment. And Hinduism s cycle of rebirth and karma dictates that if one acts unrighteously within this life, they shall surely be reborn as a being whose very existence is viewed as unpleasant, such as a barnacle. Varying takes on punishment aside, it is clear that religion and mythology have their own views on morality and the relative consequence of one s actions. But the fact remains that such stories exist to remind society as a whole that it should not behave in an immoral fashion. This being the case, it could be said that the deciding forces, Karma, God, and gods exist to supervise people, much as a parent or teacher would. Such myths and religious ideals exist to prevent conflict, and regardless of religious conflict in the world today, ideas such as the Ten Commandments remind humanity as a whole that the true aim of religion was truly to discourage conflict and encourage harmony. • 24. Proposition 2 Argumentative Analysis Proposition 2 explains that what someone does and how others view the actions one does in coordination with one another is closely tied to identities (Christiansen, 1999). Furthermore, Proposition 2 states that language, verbal or nonverbal, is an important influence on identities because one learns self awareness which then impacts how that person acts around others due to societal cues. For example, a child learns that a behavior is not acceptable due to language spoken to them through someone else s facial expressions, like a frown, or direct communication between the child and someone else. People learn how to act and how to set their goals in life by the experience of doing things that others will approve or disapprove of. 6.Discuss and provide an example of Proposition 3 and 4 from the Christiansen article. • 25. Is Hemophilia A Possible Cause Of Unexpected Bleeding... Introduction Hemophilia is a possible cause of unexpected bleeding during surgery. This paper will discuss important topics related to hemophilia, including pathology, risk factors, signs and symptoms, and treatment. Anatomy and Physiology of Hemostasis Hemostasis is the process whereby blood coagulates at the site of an injury to a blood vessel. Cellular components involved in hemostasis include platelets, endothelial cells of blood vessels, tissue factor bearing cells, and coagulation factors (Davoren Wang, 2014). Coagulation factors are specialized plasma proteins that circulate in the bloodstream in inactive forms. Most coagulation factors are activated by enzymes that catalyze their conversion to active forms. The active forms then contribute to hemostasis. Factors VIII (FVIII) and IX (FIX) are the factors involved in the most common forms of hemophilia. The coagulation cascade has many steps and reciprocal interactions; however, FVIII and FIX are most involved with the following steps: Injured blood vessel cells release tissue factor (TF), which activates factor VII. Activated factor VII (FVIIa) and TF bind together to form complex TF VIIa. Complex TF VIIa activates FIX and X. Activated factor X converts prothrombin to thrombin. Thrombin activates factors VIII, V, and XI. Activated FVIII and FIX also convert prothrombin to thrombin (Davoren Wang, 2014). • 32. Why Animals Survive The Winter Research Paper With snow, ski season, and the holidays upon us, it is easy to tell that we ve made it into the winter season. Luckily, winter doesn t mean we have to stay indoors! The Vail Valley offers the opportunity to ski, snowboard, snowshoe, sled and a wide variety of other activities to stay active and outdoors in the winter. However, unlike us, many animals are not able to remain active and outdoors for the winter due to the bitter cold. Animals have a variety of mechanisms they use to survive the cold winters, three of the strategies animals use to survive the winter are: adapting, hibernating, or migrating. For us humans, adapting to the winter means turning up the heat in our houses, wearing winter coats, and finding activities to replace the things we can no longer do outside. For animals, adapting is a bit more difficult. Animals like elk and moose adapt to the frigid temperatures by growing thicker coats to keep them warm, these coats will then be shed in the spring. Similarly, some animals change the color of their coats. Snowshoe hare s coats change to white which is warmer and better at camouflaging with the snow. This separation formed an underwater ocean ridge, which caused Australia to drift northwestward. Around 15 million years ago, Australia converged with Asia, uniting the diverse flora and fauna of both regions (Schulte 2003; Whitmore 1981). In this argument, Aquinas is answering the question of why there has to be a first cause and why the first cause is God. He tells us that everything that exist in this universe needs an explanation for why it exist. Secondly, Aquinas tells us that all the objects that exist now were caused to exist by other objects before them and this cycle goes on. Thirdly, he tells us the universe couldn t possibly be something that goes on infinitely. Aquinas thinks there has to be something that caused this a first cause. Lastly, Aquinas tells us the only possible thing that caused all of this is God. In this paper, I will be defending Aquinas Cosmological Argument. Aquinas first premise is everything, every person, plant, or object, that exist in this universe needs an explanation for why it exist. I believe there is a logical reason for why everything exist and everything that happens has an explanation. For example, we need water to survive. • 49. The Ordinary Least Squares Technique We will use principally the technique of OLS. Studenmund defines OLS as a regression esti mation technique that calculates the ОІ^ so as to maximise the sum of the squared residuals. So this means that it minimises the differences between the actual values of the variables and the estimated values of them. What will interest us then is the ОІ coefficients. He interprets these ОІs as the change of the dependent variable associated with a one unit increase in the inde pendent variable in question holding the other independent variables in the equation constant. So a ОІ value of 0.07 would mean that y changes by 7% for a one unit increase of x. These ОІs then will be the main basis of our results. But we also have to have measures to see how well the equation explains the relationship be tween the dependent variables and the independent variables. Studenmund focuses on two techniques. The first is by analysing the R2. This captures how much of the variation of the dependent variable is explained by the estimated regression equation. (Studenmund, p.47) The value of R2 can be between 0 and 1 and the higher is the value the closer the estimated equation fits the sample data. In fact a better measure of R2 is R bar squared as it takes into account the degrees of freedom in the model. However, he notes that R bar squared alone is not enough to explain the success of our model. There could be other factors so, it is an im portant estimate but not in we can fully rely on. However, Pi s strong faith in god becomes much less prominent when he s on the lifeboat with the animals. In other words, his physical needs take over and dominate over his religious ones. He still worships his gods, however is occasionally. Whenever he finds a fish or any source of food, he thanks his gods. For example when he reached the carnivorous island, he thanked god like crazy(page 233). However, he later discovered that it was a man eating island. This shows signs of doubt in Pi s mind, he doesn t understand what he should thank god for. Does this mean he completely lost his faith in god, not necessarily. He could still have a little bit of faith left in god, but we can be sure that it s not as strong as it once ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We do and exhibition where everything need to be perfectly times and everyone s movements in their tumbling needs to be the exact same. We break down the movements of the back handsprings and backs flips and learn how to do the special movements exactly the same as everyone else, so we look together. To be able to have our exhibitions be successful we need constant monitoring to see if we are with the music and with each other. The next step to achieving discipline is through observation. This gives you powerby simply observing visually seeing what is going on. In this you are under constant surveillance. By being put under this constant examination you are always being put to the test to see if you measure up to set standards. An example of this is the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. You are always under constant surveillance, even when you are not in uniform or performing. Even if you are not wearing anything associated with the organization, and are out going to the local 7 11 and you look bad, you can get in a lot of trouble. You are always held to a standard with how you look at how much you weigh. In the DCC you are weighed every week and you re not allowed to gain more than five pounds or you will be dropped off the squad if you do not lose the extra weight. This brings us to the next part of discipline, normalizing judgment. This is where you have a rule or task and have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Therefore, from this point, the tracks would then be built over the land for a particular distance before the construction works descended into the Monocacy Valley6. By being systematic, social research is not just carelessly looking for clues, but is structured. Social research must be logical, consistent, methodical, and coherent. By being empirical, social research is based on physical evidence. This evidence, or data, is defined by our senses; we can hear, see, touch, feel, or smell it.
