Audience Profile
◦Primary Audience
◦ The primary audience is the planned audience that
is the main people for the media project.
◦Secondary Audience
◦ A different audience that would enjoy the product
but isn’t the main audience.
Audience Profile
• Primary audience – Girls 0-14 year
olds
• Secondary audience – Adults aged
25-44 years old
The content of Moana would appeal to girls 0-14
as it is kid friendly and is Disney, which means it is
enjoyable and watched for entertainment. The
main target audience will have a sense of
relaxation throughout watching the film helping
children enjoy it more.
The secondary audience would appeal to Moana
as they will have to watch it with there children
but adults can identify the personal identification
of the film by understanding the value of a
fictional figure.
Audience Profile
Primary audience – teenagers ages 15-25
◦ Secondary audience- Adults ages 25-44
Pitch perfect would appeal to teenagers as the
characters are similar ages making it relatable to similar
ages. This will help with information as it could help
with seeking advice or finding out information. It also is
good for entertainment and enjoyment.
The secondary audience would also appeal because it is
enjoyable and are able to learn things throughout the
film which may help in the future.
Audience Profile
Primary Audience – Adults ages 25-44
Secondary Audience- Teenagers ages
15-25
A quiet place would appeal to adults as it is
horror and creates tension and fear. It is a topic
for social interaction so people can talk about
the film and persuade other people to watch it.
The secondary audience would be teenagers,
this would also link with social interaction. It is
also enjoyment for this age and helps find out
information and news and help learn facts.
Hypodermic Needle
◦ Where the audience are drip fed information by
the media and they instantly believe what has
been said.
◦ A 1938 radio broadcast of war of the worlds had a
section where it was report an alien invasion.
◦ This caused American viewers to believe that the invasion
was real and began to panic.
Uses and Gratifications
Information
◦ I watch the news on a morning which helps me find out information/news
which helps me learn different things going on in the world. This would also
help online by using BBC bitesize to keep up with the news.
◦ Using the internet to find out facts and information will help with advice and
decisions as the facts used there can help any decisions as they facts needed
could have been proven. Seeking advice can be used with the internet also to
see if anyone else is having the same issue and how to sort it, it helps people
be more confident knowing that there is everything on the internet. Also
YouTube is a good place to visit for advice as it can suggest many things that
may help you out a lot and suggesting ways to sort it.
◦ if there is something that you are unsure on googling it can helps as there is
so much information and websites that could help to found out facts and
details. Also social media is a option and many things are posted onto social
media such as Instagram so using sources put on there will help with find out
information you are curious about
◦ To learn you can use different websites such as BBC bitesize to use for
research or revision as there is a section for everything on there to help with
any information needed.
Uses and Gratifications
Personal Identity
◦ Using/watching TV would help with behavioural traits
because watching program that shows good behaviour will
help and reflect onto you as it will inspire to be like the
person on TV. Also using the internet to look at ways to have
a good behaviour this will help give tips and ideas on how to
develop behavioural traits.
Uses and Gratifications Integration
and Social Interaction
◦ A topic for social interaction a way to do this is social media.
Apps like Instagram or snapchat, this is a way to interact with
people through the media. Having a topic could be
something you’re into such as a band or hobbies, this makes
a topic to interact with people that have the same interests.
Uses and Gratifications
Entertainment
◦ Watching a film is a way of escapism as it is taking
your mind off things and lets you focus on the film
and what's going on.
◦ A way to relax is to listen to music on YouTube,
listening to music you enjoy. Or a watch a series or
film on Netflix or YouTube, this helps to relax as its
comforting.
Consumer Generated Content- The
audience creating content that will be used in a
media product
◦ Example
◦ YouTube- people create their own videos and upload them to YouTube to
make money.
◦ Instagram- submit images, this allows Instagram can use the images
commercially.
◦ Little Big Planet/Disney Infinity- users are given tools to create content for the
game.
◦ What are the advantages to media producers?
◦ They get to have fun creating content and being able to get fame and
make money from it

◦ It helps to give the producer views and attention making the video
more popular helping them become popular.
