- 2. Reproductive system Reproductive System is a system of organs involved in producing offspring. The system of organs and parts which function in reproduction consisting in the male especially of the testes, penis, seminal vesicles, prostate, and urethra and in the female especially of the ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, vagina, and vulva. The reproductive events in humans include formation of gametes (gametogenesis), i.e., sperms in males and ovum in females, transfer of sperms into the female genital tract (insemination) and fusion of male and female gametes (fertilization) leading to formation of zygote. In women, the organs that are directly involved in producing eggs and in conceiving and carrying babies; In men, the organs directly involved in creating, storing, and delivering sperm to fertilize an egg. © iTutor. 2000-2013. - 6. Testes / Testicles (Gonads) Produce sperm (Spermatogenesis) Sperm production begins at puberty and continues throughout the life of a male. Each has a short duct that joins with the ductus deferens at the ampulla to form an ejaculatory duct, which then empties into the urethra. Secretions from the seminal vesicles make up about 60% of the volume of the semen, with most of the remainder coming from the prostate gland. The sperm and secretions from the bulb urethral gland contribute only a small volume.
