A Brief Note On Grand Canyon University ( Gcu ) Program
Most companies in today s world want to make money in a way or another. The pursuit of this
goal is what define average companies and great companies. In a study, done by a group of Iowa
State professors, evidence was found for the Putnam thesis that companies that rely on the
community that became rich was because they were civic and not the other way around (Kilkenny,
Nalbarte, Besser, p231 1999). Grand Canyon University (GCU) has used this concept a lot, but
there is a new avenue that GCU must follow to continue its success. GCU s Canyon Christian
Schools Consortium (CCSC) program was built on this great concept of students being involved in
the community. Yet this program has devolved because of the basic law of diminishing returns.
Thus GCU should add a CCSC option that is servicein the central Phoenix community because
helping this community will improve the school s image and will help the students in achieving
GCU s goal for leaders while fixing the CCSC program s numbers overflow problem.
The current CCSC programs are essentially falling into the law of diminishing returns. This law
says that at some point the size of the labor force a business will be greater than their demand
which will lead to mass inefficiency. The current CCSC program has three sections, first the
parking detail, second the Learning Lounge, and third ticket scanners. The place that the problem
is seen most blatantly is in the parking detail. Parking will have times where they have 60 or more

Fetal Pig Dissection Lab Report
To continue, I then began to examine the endocrine system of the fetal pig. I began this dissection
by finding the endocrine organs that are located in the area of throat. These organs were the thyroid
and thymus. The thyroid s responsibility is to produce amino acids that will help to regulate
metabolism. The shape of the thyroidis oval like, and has a dark brown tint. The second endocrine
organ found in the throat is the thymus. The thymus functions to provide immunity against
diseases. It has a pink appearance, and is long in length. I was successful in finding three endocrine
organs in the abdominal cavity. The first organ found was the adrenal gland. The function of this
gland is to produce various hormones. This gland is identifiable... Show more content on

This complex organ can be found in upper right side of the abdomen. It is unique because it is a
dual functioning organ. The first function is to control the body s blood sugar level. The second
function is to secrete insulin and glucagon. Lastly, I studied the testes of the fetal pig, which I
found at the end of the scrotum under the skin. The teste are a key part in the process of secreting
testosterone. After completing this section I began to dissect the last system of the pig. The final
system of the body I examined was the digestive system. This is known to be one of the most
interesting areas of the body because of the many functions the system is responsible for. This
system is also home to several major organs. One major organ is the salivary gland. This gland is in
the lower part of the face, as well as the side of the face under the ear along the jaw line. The key
function is the gland s ability to produce saliva. These glands are light pink, and have a few
possible shapes and sizes. Following the gland, I began to take a look at the pharynx. This organ
can be found posterior to the larynx, and near the nasal and oral cavities. The pharynx is
responsible for assisting with the passage of food. It is a muscle like tube with the same

Lesser Animals In Animal Farm
Everyone has a point in his life where they find something to be absolutely ridiculous, whether it
is the opposal to gay marriage or the new hoverboard that everyone seems to have nowadays. Some
people choose to keep these thoughts to themselves and some choose to demonstrate their feelings
like George Orwell did with his satirical novel Animal Farm. With the largely avoidable hardships
of the animalsrepresenting the Soviet Unions working class, the naivete of these animals, and how
the events throughout the novel parallel the history of the Soviet Union, Orwell demonstrates
through the lesser animals in Animal Farm that he agrees that it is the responsibility of the public
to know what the government is doing at all times and that it is absurd to just blindly follow.
Through the hardships of the animals that could have easily been avoided if the government was
more carefully managed, Orwell illustrates this agreement that it is the responsibility of the public
to know what the government is doing at all times. Orwell demonstrates his feelings on the
preposterity of the ignorant lesser animals that represent communist Russia s working class when

An example of this is when Snowball is chased out by Napoleon s nine dogs: [he] slipped through a
hole in the hedge and was seen no more (Orwell 53). This event parallels how the KGB in Russia
chased Leon Trotsky out of Russia and exiled and assassinated him. Orwell demonstrates that
because no one knew what Napoleon was doing with Bluebell s puppies, this event was largely
unavoidable, which compliments the idea that the public has the responsibility of knowing what the
government is doing at all times in all instances. Another example of a parallel to history is when
the Fourth Commandment mentioned sheets; but as it was there on the wall, it must have done so

Joint Chief of Staff .
Interests in the Persian Gulf
America s direct involvement in the Persian Gulf began in the early 1990s when Iraqi President
Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait. Tensions that were building in the Middle East were unleashed
causing a chain reaction over the next decade of violent attacks on Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Israel, the
United States, and rebellions within Iraq. After the September 11th attacks, America s national
military strategy shifted from countering belligerent states to countering violent extremist
organizations that undermine transregional security of the Persian Gulf.
Despite the shift in adversaries, the interests in the Persian Gulf have not shifted since our previous
involvement. Currently, the United States military strategy in the Persian Gulf is shaped around
three key interests: democracy promotion, peace and stability, and securing an open international
economic system. These three interests seek to protect United States national security and can be
achieved through diplomatic measures.

Why Usa Based Abc Company
Considering that USA based ABC Company is planning to conduct clinical trials in ICH concern
countries by following the ICH and USFDA guideline. The FDA encourages communicating with
them before conducting clinical trial for the rare disease and follow ICH E5 guidance to provide
references for regulatory and development strategies to authorize clinical data gathered in one
region to be used for the evidence of product registrations in another region following the effect of
ethnic factors (FDA, 1998).The regulatory attentions for planning a multinational pivotal phase III

base on clinical trial designed and performed to acquire statistically important proof of efficacy
and safety required by the USFDA for NDA approval. It should include examination with the goal
to include statements into the label as well as postmarketing surveillance commitments. The
Orphan Drug Act of 1983 gives intensive as well as flexibility of using a single study and
subsidiary evidence, for example multiple event measures and extrapolation studies to the ABC

To Kill A Mockingbird Reproductive Behaviour
A recent trend in ornithology research has been to better understand how birds chose their mates
through behavioral displays. This topic has been of interests among the birding community due to
the fact that it reveals the social structure of bird groups and demonstrates the role of choice in
selecting partners. One way for females to select their copulation partners is through eavesdropping
on malemale vocal interactions as a way for females to compare different males singing behavior
and make direct comparisons between males on the basis of their performance. In order to better
understand the role eavesdropping had on partner selection among black capped chickadees the

assess dominance ranks in the black capped chickadee population at Queen s University
Biological Station in Canada in order to evaluate which males were likely to be sought for extra

The Problem Of Teenage Crime
Teenage crime is a very important problem that the united states is facing these days. It erodes our
country economically and morally. The government, along with parents are still trying to come up
with a solution to this international problem. Rising aggression, especially among teenagers is very
harmful to the society as a whole, and their reasons behind this are more compound and more
complex then we could ever imagine. The majority of Crimes committed by teenagers includes
gang violence, theft, assault and even murder. The most important factors that trigger these teens to
commit these acts are their family life, media, and the collapse of their community. Family
conditions proved to be a direct effect on a teenager s behavior. Positive family environments
provide a strong base for the development of a child. From the very first years, a child s
development and the way they act are influenced by the environment they encounter. Whenever a
teenager isn t getting the right support needed, they often turn to acts of violence to get their
parents attention or let out their aggression from their inner feelings. living in a dysfunctional
household where everything is unstable and the family lives a transient lifestyle, they often move
around and aren t stable enough to stay in one place. When this happens there are greater risks of
the teen dropping out of school and they then become bored and run the streets and the streets often

Topographical Features at Divergent and Convergent Plate...
Essay Question 1: Compare and contrast the topographical features at divergent and convergent
plate margins.
Subject: Earth Environments 1: Geomorphology and Soils
Course Code: GEOG 1231
Divergent and convergent plate margins are both studied in plate tectonics; which is the study of
the plates that makeup the lithosphere, their movements and how these movements has influenced
changes in the surface s topography (Strahler, 2011, 389). The driving force that causes these plate
movements is the gradual movement of the semi molten rock that makes up the asthenosphere
(Kious, 1996, 28). Features observed at these margins share some similarities but, also vary quite
largely. These differences are caused by the different movements displayed at... Show more content

Finally unlike divergent plate margins convergent zones can have a continental plate colliding with
an oceanic plate. In this instance the more dense oceanic plate subducts below the continental plate.
This forms a deep sea trench similar to the oceanic plate s convergence, close to the shoreline. Also
volcanic mountain ranges may also develop further in from the shore due to rising magma and
folding. Such ranges include the Andes Mountain Range ( Plate Tectonics).
Diagram 5: showing oceanic to continental plate convergence and resulting features (Pidwirny,
2006)
So divergent plate margins are where crustal plates are moving apart from one another. These
margins can either consist of two oceanic or two continental plates. Convergent plate margins on
the other hand are where two plates are being pushed towards each other. The combination of plates
at this margin can be either two continental, two oceanic or an oceanic to continental. Both of these
margins play a major role in shaping the Earths topographical features. Some of which are similar
while others different. Both aid in the formation of volcanoes however divergent rift volcanoes do
not form cone while convergent andesitic volcanoes do. Both also show faulting however divergent
plate margins have normal faults versus the reverse faults found at convergent margins. Deep sea
trenches, volcanic islands and fold mountains are exclusive to convergent

Sternberg s Triarchic Theory Of Human Intelligence
Sternberg s Triarchic Theory of Human Intelligence
History of the Intelligence Theory
The history of Sternberg s Triarchic Theory of Human Intelligence can be traced back to 1977,
1985, and 1995. Robert Sternberg s principal proponent of this intelligence theory. He developed the
theory when he was teaching at the Yale University. His aim was to establish how education could
enhance creative intelligence (experiential), analytical intelligence (componential), and the practical
intelligence (contextual). The analytical component helps students to break down the problem,
process the information, and solve it. Analytical skills are essential since they help the student to

There have been several studies that seek to test the validity and reliability of the Sternberg s
Triarchic Theory. In one study Sternberg (2000), examined how the method of delivery of content
in school affected academic performance. The conducted study was in Raleigh, North Carolina and
another one in Baltimore, Maryland, and Fresno, California. The student sample in Raleigh, North
Carolina was mostly from low income families, totaling 225. The other sample was of students from
middle to upper middle class families, totaling 142. The test involved teaching by using three
primary methods. In the first one, students had no interventions with the teaching, with the main
purpose was to memorize. In the second group was taught how to analyze the information. In the
final group had applied the analytical, creativity, and practical strategies for the teaching. The
students tested, and the last group (infused creativity, analytical, and practical interventions)
outperformed the rest. Similar studies have same yield results, which demonstrates the validity of

Henry found that music does have an effect on substance use. In a study done in 2013 they
found that an elevated popular music involvement is a risk factor with respect to teenager s
substance use behavior. More specifically, Chen et al. (2006) found a relationship between teens
who listen to rap music and the use of marijuana. This study included asking teenagers about
their music preferences and whether they had used marijuana or not. This study was conducted
through an anonymous survey. The results of this study showed that teens who listened to rap
music on a regular basis were more likely to use marijuana during their teenage years. In a study
done by Vuolo et al. (2013) they used a survey based in New York to question teenagers about
their music preference. Questions about the use of marijuana were also asked. The results of
this study found that the teens who preferred listening to Hip Hop and rap were 87% more
likely to use marijuana than the teens that listened to alternative rock and pop music. Slater
(2013), Chen et al. (2006), and Vuolo et al. (2013) all show that music can have an effect on
substance use. This shows that when teenagers listen to music where drugs, marijuana for
example, are glorified, it can have an effect on their use of this drug. Marijuana use amongst
teenagers increased drastically from the 70 s to the late 90 s according to a continuous study done
by Keyes et al. (2011). This study was conducted on a total

Problems With The American Education System
In the past, some children were too poor to go to school. Today, it is the law to go to school.
Because students get bored of the topic, they sometimes tune out the teacher, get distracted, and/or
socialize instead of paying attention in class. Because of this, students are lacking in critical
thinking. Students also lack in science content knowledge. Over time, the American Education
system has evolved because of ineffective actions, causing the students to lose or forget skills,
making them not ready for college or a job.

How Does Margaret Atwood Use Feminism In The Penelopiad
Feminism Margaret Atwood is known for her literary works that characterizes her as a strong
feminist. One of her books is The Penelopiad. Atwood allows the voiceless Odysseus s wife,
Penelope, to reveal her side of the story as well as the twelve maids who were hung to be weaved
in through poetic injections. As Penelope speaks to the 21st century readers, she is giving readers
an insight into the patriarchal society during the time period. Margaret Atwood s creativity,
imagination, and her views of feminism allow Penelope to speak in first person about her own
experience. Atwood effectively incorporates the twelve maids to show double standards of gender

She reveals feminism through the use of double standards in gender roles and in different culture
settings, colloquial language to show readers Penelope s side of the story branched off of the
Odyssey, and the application of different genres in the chorus line showing relationships from the
genre to the concept of the maids chorus lines. The use of double standards serves a purpose in
Atwood s book because it shows readers the difference in Penelope s time period to the 21st
century and the gender roles, for an example Odysseus and Penelope. The double standards of the
twelve maids execution reveal that it was common for men to rape women during that time
period. As for the double standards in relevance to Odysseus and Penelope, Odysseus was
involved with many women but expected Penelope to remain faithful. The analysis of double
standards found in this book shows Margaret Atwood s feminist view. In The Penelopiad,
Margaret Atwood explores the concept of words using colloquial language in which Penelope is
given the voice to narrate her own story. She allows Penelope to speak of her oppressed life as a
woman during her time period and what happened while Odysseus was away through her
perspective. By the effective use of colloquial language, readers understand Penelope as if she is
conversing to the 21st century readers. Atwood also links the different kinds of genre to the concept

Most people think of an island filled with trash when they hear the words Garbage Patch. But in
reality, these patches are made of small pieces of plastic, called micro plastics that cannot
always be seen by the naked eye. The satellite images do not show what we think would be a

A Research Study On Vitiligo Pathogenesis
4. Discussion
Vitiligo is an acquired depigmentation disorder of skin and hair. It is a cosmetically disfiguring
disease caused due to melanocytes destruction [Moretti et al., 2002], however, the pathogenesis of
such disease is still conflicting. Many previous studies tried to explain the pathogenesis according
to many points of view, they showed that it could either be an autoimmune mechanism, a neural
dysfunction, metabolic mechanism, or genetic causes [Moretti et al., 2002, Zhang et al,2005,
Yazici et al., 2006].
In this study, we decided to assess the genetic factor in vitiligo pathogenesis. Our study detected a
non significant association between IFN Оі +874A/T or +2109A/G gene polymorphism and vitiligo
susceptibility. In line with our finding Dwivedi, et al,2013 couldn t consider IFN Оі +874 T/A
polymorphism as a genetic risk factor for generalized vitiligo. Also, an Iranian study, couldn t
confirm a relation between IFN Оі +874 T/A gene polymorphism and vitiligo risk [Namian et al.,
2009].
When we studied the different haplotype frequencies of INF Оі (+874A/T) and INF Оі (+2109A/G)
polymorphisms in vitiligo patients and control distributions, we observed a significant elevation of
the haplotype TA in vitiligo patients when compared with control group (P 0.03), this indicated
increased risk of vitiligo with this haplotype. To the best of our knowledge, no previous studies
were done to assess IFN Оі +2109A/G gene polymorphism in relation to vitiligo and no

Optimization Of Water And Nano Fluid
Constructal optimization of water and nano fluid flow for micro channel heat sinks with
rectangular cross section
Abstract
In this paper, three dimensional water and Al2O3 water nano fluid flow and heat transfer is
optimized geometrically using constructal theory. A numerical code based on the finite volume
method and SIMPLER algorithm is developed to solve the governing equations. The code is
carefully validated by comparing numerical predictions with experimental data. In this study we
consider aspect ratio, number of channels in the heat sink and solid fraction factor as degrees of
freedom. Given a specific volume and axial length of the micro channel heat sinks and a fixed
pressure drop, we want to find out the best possible number of channels in the system, and
geometry of each channel that maximizes the global thermal conductance. Furthermore we
investigate the effect of different pressure drops. The results show that the geometric parameters
have a strong effect on the performance of micro channel heat sink. Comparison of the results of
water and Al2O3 water nano fluid indicate that neither Re nor pressure drop along the channel are
good parameters to compare the thermal performance of nano fluid and water.

The Grapes Of Wrath By John Steinbeck
Pecunia Præstat Hominibus A United Kingdoms survey found that child parent relationships are
breaking down as parents put work before their children, especially in middle class families
(Ross). This statistic can explain many of the darker portions of our culture, from the lack of
complete families to the increase of drug abuse. Yet one may wonder how this is in any way
connected to the novel, The Grapes of Wrath. However, both the statistic and the novel have a
similar theme Money being placed before people. John Steinbeckendeavors to teach us how
dangerous and common this mindset can be through his novel. Although there are some instances
of the Okies aiding one another, money before people is a central theme in The Grapes of Wrath
because it is the main source of motivation for the antagonism displayed towards the Okies. money
before people is a common, recurring theme in the novel. As soon as the fifth chapter of The Grapes
of Wrath, this theme is introduced. When the landowners come to take the Okies lands, the narrator

Study Objectives And The Home Company
A.INTRODUCTION: Founded in 1993, a vision was brought upon five entrepreneurs. Their
names are Greg Provenzano, Tony Cupisz, Mike Cupisz, and Robert Stevanovski, and Onur
Edipov. We were tired of working for others and decided to change our lives forever. We started a
company called ACN, (American Communications Network) everyone with a business mind set

Simple! Create your own company. B. STUDY OBJECTIVES AND THE HOME COMPANY:
In the beginning, ACN was only working with helping customers by reselling long distance

you get knowing you are helping over a million kids get fed each year when over 17 million don

multilevel marketing. (MLM) This is a method of product and service distribution. This process
is often mixed with a pyramid scheme. The difference is 1. We don t sell or hold product, 2. All

Inequality amongst children concerning education
I.Define and explain the unresolved issue (this definition will be the same for each group
member). ***Be sure to make your research focus as specifically related to your volunteering as
possible.
A.Access to education is among the basic human rights and everyone should have the same
opportunities. No one should be discriminated against because of their background, religion, gender
or age. Inequality in education is connected to major problems in our society. The Pakistan
constitution has an article called Article 25A. Which is the Right to education. It states that the
government of Pakistan is responsible for providing free and compulsory education. Unfortunately,
the government only goes so far. Low budget and funding for education are main struggles on the
way to educational development and expansion of student s education. Pakistan has the world s
second highest number of children out of school, reaching 8.3 million in 2012 equivalent to 1 in 12
of the world s out of school children. My group and I have taken up this unresolved issue in hopes
that we volunteering will change the lives of those who are directly impacted. We can t fix the
issue by this one act but we can at least try.
Education is a matter of life and death for our country Muhammad Ali Jinnah

Compensation Philosophy Paper
Compensation Philosophy
It most likely goes without saying that people who work for a living do so in order to get paid.
Everyone has bills and living expenses that need to be paid; therefore, individuals exchange our
time for a paycheck so these expenses can be addressed. However, since most people spend more
time at work than they do with their families, there should to be a larger reason than pay that
drives each of us to get up every morning to go to a job. It is the responsibility of the organization
to provide its employees with that reason, and it comes in the form of a compensation philosophy. It
is the intention of this paper to explain the need and rationale for an organization to have a

Compensation Philosophy
It is the key compensation goal of this organization to offer compensation in such a manner as to

This was one type of tendon problem: Tendonitis. De Quervain tendonitis, for instance, in the wrist.
Tendinosis
Second tendon problem that occurs invariably with athletic activity, especially when starting is
tendinosis.
It has to do simply with normal growth of tendons in the body, when they are subjected to increased
loads.
A normal process, but nonetheless painful.
How is that?
Think about growing pains in children.
If you have children or younger brothers and sisters, you know they all complain from pain, usually
in the lower extremities, during maximal growth, especially during early adolescence.
Tendons subjected to bigger loads than usual, grow in a similar way.
How does this problem manifest itself?
Deep pain, or discomfort in tendons or fasciae (Flat tendon structures).
Painful limitation of movements even is frequently associated.
So if such pain occurs after you increased tremendously your maximal load, then you don t need to
bother!
It s normal.
Sometimes, it lasts for one whole year or even 18 months.

Rhetorical Appeals On The Life Of A Villain
Rhetorical Appeals in the Life of a Villain A villain is just a victim whose story hasn t been told

also be classified as a sympathetic villain, which will be explained further later. Now, you may or

rhetorical appeals are applied to the film Toy Story 2and its villain. Let me break it down for you,

My Birth and My Name
An outstanding mission was complete on this day. Although, it did take nine months and a lot of
effort, it was still complete all thanks to my amazing mother (and partially my dad, too).
Unfortunately, their mission wasn t quite the success. They had to fertilize an egg, form a fetus,
then wait nine months until the baby comes out healthily. My parents got the first two steps done
with no problem, but only partially completed the last step. My mother held the fetus inside of her

866). Their rationality is based on the fact that democracy empowers the masses that are able to use
this power to fight back and prevent their government from abusing their human rights.
Democracy also makes it easier for citizens to report instances of state repression to the
international community, thus forcing abusive leaders to either stop the abuses or to renounce
their power (Poe Tate, 1994, p. 855 866). In a semi democratic country like Russia, this
empowerment of the masses has less strength to significantly prevent state repression, and
sometimes the ability to shed light on abuses is difficult since mass media is practically
controlled by the abusive government. Similarly, Davenport (1995) argues that democratic
governments are less likely to use repression when dealing with mass demonstrations because
their nature is to allow expressions of freedom by the citizenry, which they are aware always
comes with a level of domestic disorder. This awareness decreases the use of violence against the
citizens (p. 690 691). Since Russia is a semi democratic state, government respect and awareness of
citizens freedom in not yet well developed, so the government continues to react violently and to
use repression when dealing with mass demonstrations, as it was the nature of the pre existing
socialist government.

Learning how to communicate is often overlooked but its an essential skill for anyone. An
example of how important this truly is would be a job interview. Everyone at some point will
have to interview for a job to support themselves and their family. At most interviews, employers
are looking for people who seem to communicate well with others and can present themselves by
communicating their attributes. These communications skills that are necessary aren t easy to

During the first of the many days of World War I, the pilots were considered the eyes of the army
(Feltus 1). They were used mainly to scout enemy positions, and then report the whereabouts of
the enemy to the army. However, these aircrafts started out as slow and proved as easy targets
for the enemy and the advanced anti aircraft weapons, and there was a massive loss of life as a
result of this (Wilkin 4). One monumental event that occurred during the Second World War, was
when the British Royal Air Force conducted a bombing of Berlin, and thus Germany had fallen
back multiple weeks in planning their highly effective and dangerous rocket programs (Bailey
133). The raid of the German capital city was a decisive event in World War II, and allowed the
Allies to get the edge over the Axis powers. Although reconnaissance and bomber pilots were
extremely important, fighter pilots had a more cataclysmic effect on the war. As almost all pilots
grew tired of using pistols to shoot at enemy planes while having to fly, they wanted an easier
and more effective way to both fly and take down an opposing plane. Then, on one day in 1915,
the Germans captured the plane of French aviator Roland Garros, and since Garros had
innovatively built a machine gun that fired in between the spinning of his propellers, the German
army sent the plane to the Fokker plane factory and the design was copied. After the Germans got

Her constant use of tying metaphor to common perception allows the reader to dig deeper and
question their own and their communities psyche surrounding this subject. Biss is able to weave
together so many aspects of our society into a cohesive whole that explains the metaphor of
immunity vs. inoculation, self vs. nonself. For example, she is able to bring forward common
current controversial topics such as gender and racial equality and easily tie it into the main theme
of the book. For example: ...A 1912 definition of biological individuality as the quality of being
rendered non functional if cut in half, Donna Haraway observes that this requirement of
indivisibility is problematic for...women... Their personal, bounded individuality is compromised by
their bodies troubling talent for making other bodies... One of our functions, as women, is to be
divided (125 126). This unique perspective on a reason for sexism is related to back to the
misconception in our society that our bodies are independent of the environment around us. Thus,
substantiating the misinformed self vs. nonself idealogy.
Biss writes in depth on herd immunity, the concept that immunity and health/sickness of the
individual are dependent on the community. Thus, vaccination is an act done more for the health of
the community rather than the individual. Adversity toward vaccinations has always been balanced
between politics and ethics. People have historically resisted vaccination for the desire to remain
pure and/or govern their own body. This purity of the body, Biss suggests, stems from the wealthy
believing disease to only infect the dirty, the poor, the

The Influence Of Socrates On Virtue And Knowledge
Born circa 469 until 399 B.C.E in Athens, Greece, Socrates was a classical Greek philosopher
who is credited for laying the fundamentals of modern Western philosophy (Routledge, 1999).
Socrates is well known for his iconic trial and execution mainly for his disrespect of the Athenian
democracy, his development of what came to be known as the Socratic method and for his concern
of virtue. However, much of what we know of Socrates is from Platos writings, as he did not leave
any behind.
Socrates ethical theory was focused quite strongly on virtue and knowledge. He was adamant that
the most important goal is not merely surviving or staying alive but living well, not in the sense of
wealth or power, which he criticised the Athenian government of doing so but to live virtuously and
justly.
As quoted by Socrates, Virtue is Knowledge . He believed that living virtuously would ultimately
lead to moral excellence and the way to the good life, which would in turn bring Eudemonia
(Happiness). However, what is virtue? As mentioned in Plato s Meno, Socrates himself did not
know what virtue is. Virtue is defined as any behaviour showing high moral standards. Synonyms...

He describes it as a characteristic involving choice, consisting in observing the mean relative to us
which is determined by a rational principle, such as a person of practical wisdom would use to
determine it . Therefore, he believed that moral virtue is a relative mean between extremes of
excess and deficiency. For example, advertising in media is mainly used to promote and appeal to
an audience of a certain product. Providing information about the product that is sufficient for
buyers to understand the product in terms of function is the mean between releasing it to buyers
without knowledge of its functionality and over exaggerating the product s capabilities in order to

Central Air Conditioning Vs Ductless
If your current air conditioning system is no longer working as well as it should, or you are
building a new home and debating what type of cooling system you should put in, you may be
wondering which system to choose. Most of the time when considering systems homeowners get
stuck in the debate of central air conditioningvs. ductless systems. Knowing the differences of each
can help you to make a clearer decision.
Central Air Conditioning vs. Ductless
When it comes to efficiency and saving money on your energy bills, ductless systems are often the
clear winner. When it comes to ductless systems you have better control over which area of the
home you are heating and cooling. You can use zones to control each area only heating and cooling

This Be the Verse
This Be The Verse is a lyric poem in three verses of four iambic tetrameter on an alternating rhyme
scheme, by the English poet Philip Larkin (1922 1985). It was written around April 1971, first
published in the August 1971 issue of New Humanist, and appeared in the 1974 collection High
Windows. The title also ironically recalls the recurring phrase in the Old Testament threatening the
sins of the father against his sons: for I the Lord, thy God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of
the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me [Exodus
20:5]. Larkin parodies the divine threat by rewriting the deliberate retribution of an angry vengeful
God as the tragic shortcomings of your mum and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yet Larkin incorporates it almost immediately into his poem. I can think of four possible reasons
why. Firstly, words such as *censored* quickly and easily grab the audiences attention. This is
similar to yelling sex in a crowded marketplace, everyone wants to know what is being discussed.
Also, words like *censored* prepare the audience for a humorous bit of poetry, and this perks
the audience s attention, and lets them know off the bat that this will not be another long and
boring verse. Secondly, words such as *censored* produce an atmosphere for adults, or mature
people. One term that is used quite extensively lately is adult language. This term branches off
of the common idea that children should and would not use such words until they are older and
have a more concrete knowledge of what they are really saying. Thus, by using a word such as
*censored*, Larkin creates a poem that will most likely not be read to children. Also, such a poem
would not be read at certain social gatherings (i.e. church meetings) where such words are
considered unacceptable, further narrowing the audience for this poem. That brings me to my third
point: that the people who read such a poem know, whether consciously or not, that they are in a
distinct group, and that this poem was written for them. This allows Larkin to establish a closeness
with his readers, now that they know that he is writing for them. This also implies to the reader that
Larkin is one of them, that he

The Ultimate Political Corruption of William Tweed In the history of the United States there
were a vast amount of political leaders and big businesses that contributed to the success of
cities in our country.Greed and the need for power can consume someone and make them feel
like they are unstoppable, but little do people know the judgement day is right around the
corner.William Boss Tweed is a prime example of what the need for power and greed will do to
a person.William Tweed played a huge role in the success of New York City through smart
politics, corruption, which ultimately led to his conviction. William Tweed was a member of the

stature, stood six feet tall, weighing in at 300 pounds with a cheerful personality.Tweed got the
nickname Boss because he was the the leader of Tammany Hall. In order to understand the motives
of William Tweed, one must understand that although Tweed was a corrupted leader he was also a
smart politician who played his cards right.William Tweed was a smart politician because he
became the boss of the Tammany Hall.Tammany Hall was a political machine in New York City
that cast votes. With Tweed being over Tammany Hall, this gave him an advantage to control the
votes. With control over the votes,he simultaneously had control over the flock of new immigrants

  • 2. A Brief Note On Grand Canyon University ( Gcu ) Program Most companies in today s world want to make money in a way or another. The pursuit of this goal is what define average companies and great companies. In a study, done by a group of Iowa State professors, evidence was found for the Putnam thesis that companies that rely on the community that became rich was because they were civic and not the other way around (Kilkenny, Nalbarte, Besser, p231 1999). Grand Canyon University (GCU) has used this concept a lot, but there is a new avenue that GCU must follow to continue its success. GCU s Canyon Christian Schools Consortium (CCSC) program was built on this great concept of students being involved in the community. Yet this program has devolved because of the basic law of diminishing returns. Thus GCU should add a CCSC option that is servicein the central Phoenix community because helping this community will improve the school s image and will help the students in achieving GCU s goal for leaders while fixing the CCSC program s numbers overflow problem. The current CCSC programs are essentially falling into the law of diminishing returns. This law says that at some point the size of the labor force a business will be greater than their demand which will lead to mass inefficiency. The current CCSC program has three sections, first the parking detail, second the Learning Lounge, and third ticket scanners. The place that the problem is seen most blatantly is in the parking detail. Parking will have times where they have 60 or more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The second endocrine organ found in the throat is the thymus. The thymus functions to provide immunity against diseases. It has a pink appearance, and is long in length. After completing this section I began to dissect the last system of the pig. The final system of the body I examined was the digestive system. This is known to be one of the most interesting areas of the body because of the many functions the system is responsible for. This system is also home to several major organs. One major organ is the salivary gland. This gland is in the lower part of the face, as well as the side of the face under the ear along the jaw line. The key function is the gland s ability to produce saliva. These glands are light pink, and have a few possible shapes and sizes. Following the gland, I began to take a look at the pharynx. This organ can be found posterior to the larynx, and near the nasal and oral cavities. The pharynx is responsible for assisting with the passage of food. It is a muscle like tube with the same ... Lesser Animals In Animal Farm Everyone has a point in his life where they find something to be absolutely ridiculous, whether it is the opposal to gay marriage or the new hoverboard that everyone seems to have nowadays. Some people choose to keep these thoughts to themselves and some choose to demonstrate their feelings like George Orwell did with his satirical novel Animal Farm. With the largely avoidable hardships of the animalsrepresenting the Soviet Unions working class, the naivete of these animals, and how the events throughout the novel parallel the history of the Soviet Union, Orwell demonstrates through the lesser animals in Animal Farm that he agrees that it is the responsibility of the public to know what the government is doing at all times and that it is absurd to just blindly follow. Through the hardships of the animals that could have easily been avoided if the government was more carefully managed, Orwell illustrates this agreement that it is the responsibility of the public to know what the government is doing at all times. Orwell demonstrates his feelings on the preposterity of the ignorant lesser animals that represent communist Russia s working class when the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Orwell demonstrates that because no one knew what Napoleon was doing with Bluebell s puppies, this event was largely unavoidable, which compliments the idea that the public has the responsibility of knowing what the government is doing at all times in all instances. In addition, the staff is compromised of the Secretary Army, Secretary of Navy, and the Secretary of Air Force and led by the Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff . Interests in the Persian Gulf America s direct involvement in the Persian Gulf began in the early 1990s when Iraqi President Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait. Tensions that were building in the Middle East were unleashed causing a chain reaction over the next decade of violent attacks on Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Israel, the United States, and rebellions within Iraq. After the September 11th attacks, America s national military strategy shifted from countering belligerent states to countering violent extremist organizations that undermine transregional security of the Persian Gulf. Despite the shift in adversaries, the interests in the Persian Gulf have not shifted since our previous involvement. Currently, the United States military strategy in the Persian Gulf is shaped around three key interests: democracy promotion, peace and stability, and securing an open international economic system. These three interests seek to protect United States national security and can be achieved through diplomatic measures. One key interest in the Persian Gulf ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One way for females to select their copulation partners is through eavesdropping on malemale vocal interactions as a way for females to compare different males singing behavior and make direct comparisons between males on the basis of their performance. Rising aggression, especially among teenagers is very harmful to the society as a whole, and their reasons behind this are more compound and more complex then we could ever imagine. The majority of Crimes committed by teenagers includes gang violence, theft, assault and even murder. The most important factors that trigger these teens to commit these acts are their family life, media, and the collapse of their community. Family conditions proved to be a direct effect on a teenager s behavior. Positive family environments provide a strong base for the development of a child. Subject: Earth Environments 1: Geomorphology and Soils Course Code: GEOG 1231 Divergent and convergent plate margins are both studied in plate tectonics; which is the study of the plates that makeup the lithosphere, their movements and how these movements has influenced changes in the surface s topography (Strahler, 2011, 389). The driving force that causes these plate movements is the gradual movement of the semi molten rock that makes up the asthenosphere (Kious, 1996, 28). Features observed at these margins share some similarities but, also vary quite largely. These differences are caused by the different movements displayed at... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Finally unlike divergent plate margins convergent zones can have a continental plate colliding with an oceanic plate. In this instance the more dense oceanic plate subducts below the continental plate. This forms a deep sea trench similar to the oceanic plate s convergence, close to the shoreline. Also volcanic mountain ranges may also develop further in from the shore due to rising magma and folding. Such ranges include the Andes Mountain Range ( Plate Tectonics). Diagram 5: showing oceanic to continental plate convergence and resulting features (Pidwirny, 2006) So divergent plate margins are where crustal plates are moving apart from one another. These margins can either consist of two oceanic or two continental plates. Convergent plate margins on the other hand are where two plates are being pushed towards each other. The combination of plates at this margin can be either two continental, two oceanic or an oceanic to continental. Both of these margins play a major role in shaping the Earths topographical features. Some of which are similar while others different. Both aid in the formation of volcanoes however divergent rift volcanoes do not form cone while convergent andesitic volcanoes do. Both also show faulting however divergent plate margins have normal faults versus the reverse faults found at convergent margins. This study included asking teenagers about their music preferences and whether they had used marijuana or not. This study was conducted through an anonymous survey. The results of this study showed that teens who listened to rap music on a regular basis were more likely to use marijuana during their teenage years. In a study done by Vuolo et al. • 18. A Research Study On Vitiligo Pathogenesis 4. Discussion Vitiligo is an acquired depigmentation disorder of skin and hair. It is a cosmetically disfiguring disease caused due to melanocytes destruction [Moretti et al., 2002], however, the pathogenesis of such disease is still conflicting. Many previous studies tried to explain the pathogenesis according to many points of view, they showed that it could either be an autoimmune mechanism, a neural dysfunction, metabolic mechanism, or genetic causes [Moretti et al., 2002, Zhang et al,2005, Yazici et al., 2006]. In this study, we decided to assess the genetic factor in vitiligo pathogenesis. Our study detected a non significant association between IFN Оі +874A/T or +2109A/G gene polymorphism and vitiligo susceptibility. In line with our finding Dwivedi, et al,2013 couldn t consider IFN Оі +874 T/A polymorphism as a genetic risk factor for generalized vitiligo. Also, an Iranian study, couldn t confirm a relation between IFN Оі +874 T/A gene polymorphism and vitiligo risk [Namian et al., 2009]. When we studied the different haplotype frequencies of INF Оі (+874A/T) and INF Оі (+2109A/G) polymorphisms in vitiligo patients and control distributions, we observed a significant elevation of the haplotype TA in vitiligo patients when compared with control group (P 0.03), this indicated increased risk of vitiligo with this haplotype. Optimization Of Water And Nano Fluid Constructal optimization of water and nano fluid flow for micro channel heat sinks with rectangular cross section Abstract In this paper, three dimensional water and Al2O3 water nano fluid flow and heat transfer is optimized geometrically using constructal theory. A numerical code based on the finite volume method and SIMPLER algorithm is developed to solve the governing equations. The code is carefully validated by comparing numerical predictions with experimental data. In this study we consider aspect ratio, number of channels in the heat sink and solid fraction factor as degrees of freedom. Given a specific volume and axial length of the micro channel heat sinks and a fixed pressure drop, we want to find out the best possible number of channels in the system, and geometry of each channel that maximizes the global thermal conductance. Furthermore we investigate the effect of different pressure drops. The results show that the geometric parameters have a strong effect on the performance of micro channel heat sink. Comparison of the results of water and Al2O3 water nano fluid indicate that neither Re nor pressure drop along the channel are good parameters to compare the thermal performance of nano fluid and water. Their rationality is based on the fact that democracy empowers the masses that are able to use this power to fight back and prevent their government from abusing their human rights. Democracy also makes it easier for citizens to report instances of state repression to the international community, thus forcing abusive leaders to either stop the abuses or to renounce their power (Poe Tate, 1994, p. 855 866). In a semi democratic country like Russia, this empowerment of the masses has less strength to significantly prevent state repression, and sometimes the ability to shed light on abuses is difficult since mass media is practically controlled by the abusive government. Similarly, Davenport (1995) argues that democratic governments are less likely to use repression when dealing with mass demonstrations because their nature is to allow expressions of freedom by the citizenry, which they are aware always comes with a level of domestic disorder. This awareness decreases the use of violence against the citizens (p. 690 691). Since Russia is a semi democratic state, government respect and awareness of citizens freedom in not yet well developed, so the government continues to react violently and to use repression when dealing with mass demonstrations, as it was the nature of the pre existing socialist government. ... They were used mainly to scout enemy positions, and then report the whereabouts of the enemy to the army. However, these aircrafts started out as slow and proved as easy targets for the enemy and the advanced anti aircraft weapons, and there was a massive loss of life as a result of this (Wilkin 4). One monumental event that occurred during the Second World War, was when the British Royal Air Force conducted a bombing of Berlin, and thus Germany had fallen back multiple weeks in planning their highly effective and dangerous rocket programs (Bailey 133). The raid of the German capital city was a decisive event in World War II, and allowed the Allies to get the edge over the Axis powers. Although reconnaissance and bomber pilots were extremely important, fighter pilots had a more cataclysmic effect on the war. As almost all pilots grew tired of using pistols to shoot at enemy planes while having to fly, they wanted an easier and more effective way to both fly and take down an opposing plane. Then, on one day in 1915, the Germans captured the plane of French aviator Roland Garros, and since Garros had innovatively built a machine gun that fired in between the spinning of his propellers, the German army sent the plane to the Fokker plane factory and the design was copied. Biss is able to weave together so many aspects of our society into a cohesive whole that explains the metaphor of immunity vs. inoculation, self vs. nonself. For example, she is able to bring forward common current controversial topics such as gender and racial equality and easily tie it into the main theme of the book. Thus, vaccination is an act done more for the health of the community rather than the individual. Adversity toward vaccinations has always been balanced between politics and ethics. People have historically resisted vaccination for the desire to remain pure and/or govern their own body. This purity of the body, Biss suggests, stems from the wealthy believing disease to only infect the dirty, the poor, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. The Influence Of Socrates On Virtue And Knowledge Born circa 469 until 399 B.C.E in Athens, Greece, Socrates was a classical Greek philosopher who is credited for laying the fundamentals of modern Western philosophy (Routledge, 1999). Socrates is well known for his iconic trial and execution mainly for his disrespect of the Athenian democracy, his development of what came to be known as the Socratic method and for his concern of virtue. However, much of what we know of Socrates is from Platos writings, as he did not leave any behind. Socrates ethical theory was focused quite strongly on virtue and knowledge. He was adamant that the most important goal is not merely surviving or staying alive but living well, not in the sense of wealth or power, which he criticised the Athenian government of doing so but to live virtuously and justly. As quoted by Socrates, Virtue is Knowledge . He believed that living virtuously would ultimately lead to moral excellence and the way to the good life, which would in turn bring Eudemonia (Happiness). However, what is virtue? • 42. This Be the Verse This Be The Verse is a lyric poem in three verses of four iambic tetrameter on an alternating rhyme scheme, by the English poet Philip Larkin (1922 1985). It was written around April 1971, first published in the August 1971 issue of New Humanist, and appeared in the 1974 collection High Windows. The title also ironically recalls the recurring phrase in the Old Testament threatening the sins of the father against his sons: for I the Lord, thy God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me [Exodus 20:5]. Larkin parodies the divine threat by rewriting the deliberate retribution of an angry vengeful God as the tragic shortcomings of your mum and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Yet Larkin incorporates it almost immediately into his poem. I can think of four possible reasons why. Firstly, words such as *censored* quickly and easily grab the audiences attention. This is similar to yelling sex in a crowded marketplace, everyone wants to know what is being discussed. Also, words like *censored* prepare the audience for a humorous bit of poetry, and this perks the audience s attention, and lets them know off the bat that this will not be another long and boring verse. Secondly, words such as *censored* produce an atmosphere for adults, or mature people. One term that is used quite extensively lately is adult language. This term branches off of the common idea that children should and would not use such words until they are older and have a more concrete knowledge of what they are really saying. Thus, by using a word such as *censored*, Larkin creates a poem that will most likely not be read to children. Also, such a poem would not be read at certain social gatherings (i.e. church meetings) where such words are considered unacceptable, further narrowing the audience for this poem. That brings me to my third point: that the people who read such a poem know, whether consciously or not, that they are in a distinct group, and that this poem was written for them. This allows Larkin to establish a closeness with his readers, now that they know that he is writing for them. This also implies to the reader that Larkin is one of them, that he ...
