Another major element of symbolism is the volley ball with the name brand Wilson on it now
becomes his imaginary friend. This helps him to maintain his sanity by giving him some form of

The influence of television in regards to race relations in society has always been very real and
powerful. Throughout the 1950 s to the 1980 s, the television shows in America depicted the
African American experience in unique and different ways that were either a step forward, or
two steps backwards in the fight for equality. First of all, the show Amos n Andy, was a very
conflicting show to people in America because it was funny and well written, but every black
character on the show was either a clown or a crook. What this means is that millions of white
Americans around the country were watching this show whenever it was on and all they saw on

The most popular TV shows were able to completely sway the minds of people on a certain
social topic, and they had the ability to either accurately or inaccurately depict the black culture.

actually display the real life scenarios that blacks went through living in the hood with absolutely
