Youth over Age
Introduction Jim Fogle has worked in the technical sector for more than 30 years. He has held
various positions within the same company throughout his career. During this time, he has
witnessed the introduction of new technologies while countless others have gone obsolete.
Although Fogle possesses several years of proven industry experience, his career path does not
reflect his performance or skills. In fact, Fogle s career has tended to move on a downward slope.
Originally a member of the Engineering department, Fogle has found himself serving within
progressively lesser roles. Twenty years ago, Fogle served as an area support manager and
coordinated technical service and support over the Southeast region. Fifteen... Show more content

As employees get older, job performance across various professional and non professional
positions has been proven to hold steady (Judge and Judge, 2007, pg. 49 50). Despite evidence to
the contrary, stereotypes and biased beliefs continue to permeate the information technology sector.
This is partially due to the nature of the industry itself. Information technology companies are
geared towards developing innovative technical products and services for businesses and
consumers. Technology rapidly evolves and adapts to address society s needs. For instance, the
telephone gave way to the facsimile machine. This soon became virtually obsolete with the
introduction of newer technologies such as email and instant messaging (Charness, 2006).
Companies within the IT sector seek to maintain a workforce that reflects the youth and vigor of
their technology. Sylvia Francis, a researcher of age discrimination, notes, These industries are
looking to match staff with their perceived young image, and once you hit 40 you no longer fit
(Computer Weekly, 2006). Older workers also tend to shun job postings or interviews referring to
young, dynamic organizations or projects, as these descriptors infer an environment that prefers
youth rather than experience (Goodwin, 2006). A 2001 survey illustrates the disparity in both
staffing and average salaries for IT professionals. This survey consisted of 3,629 total respondents,
of which 40

To overcome this, the resources must be used wisely so that coming generations can get benefit and
ensure that there are enough resources left for them. For a mining company there is always a
requirement to keep balance between society, environment and economy. If there will be a change
in any of the measurement then alternate measurement will also get affected.
The four essential zones which influence sustainability are procedure or operations, education,
group interest and future conditions. These four regions of sustainability can be connected to the
mining firms. If the company is aware about industry the operations going on the sites that effects
the health of people and environment then organization should take wise steps to control bad
effects of their operations. Mining operations are always considered as environment unfriendly. It
is no doubt that some of the mine sites are located away from the residential or urban areas but
still they effect the people of workers over the sites with the emission of gases . The large numbers
of small and medium and big mining ventures are located in Australia which are good for profit and
economy but not as good for the environment as other

James Wright Case Summary
As you may aware, Mr. James Wright has done some unethical act due to the effort of increasing
the stockholder s equity. The purpose of the memo is to discuss about the ethical dilemma of
James Wright s plan. I will discuss about whether he has followed the IMA s principles or not.
After that, I will give you my opinion of the dilemma in this situation. In this case, the CFO of
Butcher Block, James Wright, has to face an ethical dilemma between whether to leave everything
as it is and let the company s stock fall due to the fact it has not reach its potential target or he can
adjust the asset life of some equipment and therefore pump the stockholder s equity to exceed the
minimum targeted earning per share. James did not follow the IMA Statement

Drug Prohibition – The solution that never worked Essay
Countries have been making drugs illegal over the years for varieties of reasons be it to combat a
perceived moral or health epidemic, to single out certain groups of people, or to reflect religious
influences. Even when some drugs do not present notable health dangers, governments ban them.
While there are many drugs that are unhealthy when abused, the drugpolicies around the world,
particularly the United States, are inconsistent and oppressive. Drug laws were supposedly created
for the good of society, but the prohibitionof drugs only serves to cause problems, violence, and
unrest. Starting from a historical standpoint, we can see that past endeavors to ban substances were
often motivated by discrimination and racism. Drug... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These deaths are due to drug wars and fights over territory between the various organized crime
groups, who get their business by trafficking drugs over the United States border. Their booming
business and death count directly depend on the prohibition of drugs to continue. Former US
narcotics officer Michael Levine worked undercover with some Colombian cocaine cartels and
talked about what he learned:
I learned that not only did they not fear our war on drugs, they counted on it to increase the
market price and to weed out the smaller, inefficient drug dealers. They found U.S. interdiction
efforts laughable. The only U.S. action they feared was an effective demand reduction program.
On one undercover tape recorded conversation, a top cartel chief, Jorge Roman, expressed his
gratitude for the drug war, calling it a sham put on for the American taxpayer that was actually good
for business (Lynch, 92).
Prohibition of drugs continues to allow organized crime to raise their death toll and make massive
profits. Further evidence on how prohibition can fail and give rise to crime is quite clear looking
back to the attempted prohibition of alcohol in the 1920s in the United States. The Volstead Act and
Eighteenth Amendment to the Constitution banned the sale of alcohol and caused much unrest
among the citizenry of the country. Widespread criminal

Deforestation Of Latin American Forest
Deforestation presents in an abundance of ways, including fires, clear cutting for agriculture,
ranching and development, unsustainable logging for timber, and degradation due to climate
change. The foremost reason of deforestation in Latin America is the requirement for food, fuel,
shelter, and foreign exchange. Year on year, a space of tropical forest
the size of Great Britain is
converted from an area equal to the size of Europe. Ever since 1950, according to the U.N. Food
and Agriculture Organization (FAO), half of the world s forests have disappeared. Latin
America has lost 37 percent of its tropical forests, says the FAO. As more and more of Latin
American forest are degraded, more and more detrimental effects are being seen. Deforestation is
changing a number of resources for tribal groups, altering their way of life, temperatures are
increasing at a dangerous rate because of a buildup of carbon dioxidein the atmosphere, habitats and
species such as plants and wildlife are being annexed due to the destructive effects of deforestation.
Deforestation is inarguably helpful to supplying money to countries that sell the products from the
forest, but huge wealth being generated from the forests comes with large scale environmental and
social costs. The local residences are not benefitting and the funds are being siphoned out of the
region.

All Summer in a Day By Ray Bradbury is about a group of children who lives on a planet called
Venus. Bradbury uses a variety of metaphors so the reader can imagine a life on venus. On this
planet the sun only appears for only a few hours once every seven years. The children have very
vague memory about the sunbecause they were far too young to remember what the sun was like
except, Margot who remembers the sun very clear, because she lived in Ohio until she was five.
Margot tells the other children that the sun is round like a penny and hot like a fire in the stove.
The children didn t believe her and didn t understand why she loved the sun so much. The other
children envy Margot because of her very clear and precise memories about the

The Vampire Effect Of Dracula
Not many people would think that they can be compared to Count Dracula. Considered to be one
of the most well known monsters of all time, Count Dracula sucks the blood of his victims, which
would ultimately lead to their death. While this seems like a very unique example, it can be
applied to nearly every person, specifically in the college stetting. This phenomenon that can be
linked to this monster is called the vampireeffect. First used in the book ______, this term refers to
the what happens in socialgroups due to different personality types that were caused by a
difference in economic background. Set in a college dormitory, chapter 4 of the book discusses
how there is a difference in the social lives of students who are quiet versus students who are more
outgoing. Students who were shy were generally ignored and did not seem to partake in many
social activities. While Armstrong and Hamilton suggest that the Vampire Effect arises due to the
social students knowingly ignoring and rejecting the shyer students, that is not the case. The cycle
through which the effect takes place starts with self comparison due to economic status, envy, and
self blame, and results in anxiety and self isolation. Although this is done unintentionally,
consciously known factors such debt and class also play a role in the process.
As Armstrong and Hamilton describe the social isolates , Others treated the quieter roommate as
sort of a sidekick or an invisible appendage (105).

Cuba And The United States
Introduction A lot has gone on between the United States and Cuba between 1959 and 2015. In
1959, Cuba and the United States cut off diplomatic ties. On December 17, 2014, the United States
and Cuba announced that they would restore diplomatic ties. Diplomatic ties is defined as The art
or practice of conducting international relations, as in negotiating alliances, treaties, and
agreements by The Free Dictionary. This means that two countries work together and with other
countries to talk about alliances and make treaties and agreements. When they cut off diplomatic
ties, the United States and Cubabasically had nothing to do with each other on the international
scene.
History of Cuba
Cuba was first discovered by Spanish explorers about 500 years ago. Cuba is the largest country
of the West Indies, which include Jamaica, Hispaniola, and Puerto Rico. Cuba has a population of
over 11 million people. They have been shut off from the United States since 1959. They have not
gotten any new cars from the United States since then, so they keep the 1950s cars in use. Fidel
Castro became the Prime Minister of Cuba in 1959 after seizing Havana and overthrowing
Fulgencio Batista.
Havana, La Habana in Spanish, is the largest city in Cuba, as well as the largest city in all of the
Caribbean, and the capital city of Cuba. Havana is also the only major city in Cuba. Havana has a
scenic waterfront and is surrounded by beaches.
Cuba is 64% white. These whites used to own African

Essay On Retrograde Amnesia
What is Retrograde Amnesia? Retrograde Amnesia is, being a common type of Amnesia, is the
one most people are familiar with. Retrograde Amnesia is the loss of past memories. If someone
falls and hits their head, the damage caused by that accident could cause the person to forget that
the accident even occurred. For example, a friend once decided to try snowboarding, and did
not learn how to stop before she went to the top of the hill. She went down, picking up speed,
and did not notice the small cliff at the bottom until it was too late to turn away. She decided to
fall so she would not go over the cliff, and while she was successful at that, she unfortunately hit
her head on a patch of ice as she fell. She remained conscience, but lost not only the memory of the
accident, she lost her memory of the entire week of the trip. Since this type of Amnesiausually
happens when trauma occurs to the brain, it seems likely that the accident causes failure in the
brains ability to retrieve information. Information is stored in many different parts of the brain, so
retrieval must also be in more than one part to occur. When a blow occurs to the head, the brain
essentially is bounced, from one end to the other. Since the brain is floating in fluid, typically
damage occurs in more area s than where the hit actually happened. Because damage occurs to
several parts of the brain, the risk

Rhetorical Analysis Of 1984 By George Orwell
In this excerpt from 1984, by George Orwell, Winston Smith, a worker for the ministry of truth,
has been caught for committing a thought crime and is being taken to room 101 for
punishment. During the passage, Smith desperately tries to escape his punishment. Through the
use of rhetorical devices such as repetition, imagery, and details, the tone of urgency is revealed
In the excerpt, Orwell uses the rhetorical device of repetition in order to create suspense. For
example, right before the rats are going to attack, Winston says, Do it to Julia! Do it to Julia!
Not me! Julia! I don t care what you do to her. Tear her face off, strip her to the bones. Not me!
Julia! Not me! The repetitive screams for help from Winston reveals the tone as he is frantically
begging for mercy. Another example of repetition is used is when Orwell writes, To think, to
think, even with a split second left to think was the only hope This reveals the tone as it reveals
Winston only has a split second to save himself from the rats, and he must be able to think fast in
order to do it.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, when Orwell describes, The circle of the mask was large enough now to shut out
the vision of anything else. The wire door was a couple of hand spans from his face. The rats
knew what was coming now. This creates the tone as the rats are now closing in on Winston and
are preparing to attack, which leaves him little time left before he must face his fear. In addition,
another example is when the book says Winston heard a succession of shrill cries which appeared
to be occurring in the air above his head. But he fought furiously against his panic. This displays the
tone as Winston has now begun to panic after hearing the cries of the rats above him. As he
desperately fights against his punishment, the tone of urgency is

Metaphors and Repetition in Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night
In Dylan Thomas Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night, the speaker is a son talking to his
aging father and pleading with him to fight against death. The son knows that death is the
inevitable end to every life, but feels one should not give up to death too easily. By using metaphor,
imagery, and repetition, Thomas reinforces the son s message that aging men see their lives with
sudden clarity and realize how they might have lived happier, more productive lives. These men rail
against fate, fighting for more time to set things right.
The son uses dark and the end of day as metaphors for death. He ... Show more content on

Wise men know that death is appropriate, but they do not embrace it. These wise men fight death
because they feel their words have not been adequate enough to touch or illuminate others. The son
creates a visual image of the inadequacy wise men feel upon realizing their words have not
enlightened others their words had forked no lightning. The son also mentions good men who do
not die peacefully. These men despair that their feeble deedsdid not accomplish enough. Even
though they were good men, they feel they could have done so much more if given the time.
The son next tells his father how wild and grave men also struggled with death. Wild men spent
their lives frivolously, wishing time on its way. They learn when it is too late that they hurried
time too fast and now they cannot recapture what they so wantonly spent. Their lives were
foolishly wasted. The son also mentions grave or serious men who review their lives with a
swift lucidity when death is upon them. These solemn, sober men now realize life could have
been more joyous had they been a little more blind. If life is taken a little less seriously, one could
blaze like meteors and be gay.
Repetition at the end of each stanza is effectively used to reinforce the message to fight back
against death. The son implores his father to hang on any way he can and begs him to use joy or
tears or anger to remain in this life. Other men, be they wise or frivolous, serious or

Good Life Analysis
What is your version of the good life using three aspects of life and is it the same as the person
next to you? Everyone has their own idea of the ideal life and no two people have the same
exact idea. Some may have the idea of money, clothes, and cars while another may have the idea
of family, no death, and a big house. The two individuals have two completely different points of
view, interests, likes, dislikes, and aspirations. My version of the good life is nothing like the
other examples but it is okay because it is supposed to be different. Personally my ideal life
include having enough money to sustain and be comfortable, having a successful career, and
having a lifetime supply of puppies and dogs. There are reasons behind why I have chosen these
specific aspects of a possible life and they will be explained in the paragraphs to follow.
I chose the first aspect to be money because I want to have enough money to get my family and
me in a good place. A place where we would not have to worry about making ends meet but a
place where we could have all our basic needs met. This would be sustained by my husband and I

who have power to do things and is really interesting to learn about. Egyptian mythology supports
the universal human experience. In their myths, Egyptians value security, power, and benevolence.

How To Write A Reflective Essay On Theodore Roosevelt s...

Now that I ve accomplished it, it is not as rewarding as I thought it would be. My boss had yet to

Of course Carter has his own set of keys to our place, but bolting the door behind me gave me a
deep satisfaction that I unfortunately knew wouldn t last much longer. With the dead bolt, he may
be able to unlock the door, but he wouldn t be able to get in. I flipped the light switch, illuminating
the entire apartment in a yellow glow. This made me feel even more at ease. I was finally out of
the looming darkness of the night. With the artificial light, I was now haunted by the many
pictures I kept of Carter all around the room. There was one hanging right in the entry way,
encased in a black frame. We were flaunting huge smiles, as this was the first day of our
honeymoon. We had chosen to go to Colorado because of our shared love for the expanse of a
snowy mountain range rather than a beach where the sands are so hot they burn the toes. I saw the
mountains in the background of this picture, but they were not nearly as beautiful as they are in
person. As is the case with any photograph of nature. A strong, pounding knock at the door brought
me out of my thoughts of snowy mountain caps and back to my hellacious present. I heard Carter

Public Goods Game Experiment
Introduction
A public goods game is an experimental game where subjects choose the amount of money or
tokens they would like to place in a public pot. It is done so privately without anyone else knowing
about it. The amount is then multiplied equally by a factor, and it is then equally shared among the
participants. (Radoc, 2001) Although some players would have contributed less they are allowed to
keep tokens or money amounts they did not contribute. Peoples contributions are also heavily
subjective what how much their peers contribute, and also benchmarked upon previous
contributions (Augenblick Cunha, 2014) We have conducted a small experiment in our student
accommodation to test and see the behavior of people in a natural setting.

Participants: 32 participants were recruited from Pure City Student accommodation to participate in

This was tested with the famous paradox known as The Ellsberg Paradox, which indicates that
decision makers are often ambiguity averse, preferring options with subjectively known
probabilities to options with unknown probabilities (Weber Tan, 2012) Similarly, Risk Aversion
could be described as, when an individual is presented with two options they choose the option
with a lower risk. People were willing to take the risk in Round 5 because they knew that although
there was a chance of numerous participants contributing the maximum value, there would still be
some amount they would benefit from and receive. However in round 6 there was a chance that

Evaluation Of A New Business Manager
If you re a new business owner and have just begun accepting credit cards for payments, you don t
want to be caught unaware of the regulations involved in handling sensitive personal data. The
consequences of improper procedures could be penalties, fees and even termination of your card
processing account. Read on to learn about PCI regulations and what you need to do to remain
compliant.
What is PCI?
PCI stands for Payment Card Industry. When referring to the subject of PCI compliance, you are
actually talking about a set of industry standards known as PCI DSS, where the DSS stands for Data
Security Standards. These standards were designed to ensure that businesses handle credit card
information in a secure manner.
The first version of data security standards was released in December 2004 to combat the
increasing rate at which cardholder information was being stolen online. The PCI DSS was
established in 2006 with the formation of the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council
(PCI SSC). The council focuses on improving security of credit card transactions as technology and
market trends change the security concerns in the industry.
The PCI SSC was created by the major credit card brands, including MasterCard, Visa, American
Express and Discover; however, the council is not responsible for PCI compliance. It s the payment
brands that actually enforce the standards.
Who needs to comply with PCI security standards?
In short, any organization or business that

Health Of Achieving Health And Wellness
Achieving health and wellness is a highly individualized, dynamic process that is characterized by
six interrelated dimensions: physical, social, intellectual, emotional, spiritual, and environmental
health. The focus of this paper is my physical health as it relates to wellness.
Furthermore, the objective of focusing on my physical health is to identify current health behaviors
and factors that may be impacting and prohibiting me from achieving optimal physical health.
Using the Transtheoretical Model for Stages of Change1 as a guide, I will identify a specific health
behavior I am seeking to improve, and outline an action plan to achieve and maintain good physical
health.
In assessing my health behaviors, I have identified three specific behaviors that have negatively
impacted my physical health: lack of physical activity, poor nutrition and inadequate sleep. The
factors that I attribute to these current heath behaviors are: a lack of social support and guidance,
the nutritional value of foods consumed (as related to the culture in which I was raised), and time
management.
I attribute my lack of physical activity to an absence of social support and guidance in my life.
For example, my mother suffers with cardiovascular disease (CVD), yet rarely engages in physical
activity. Five years ago, my mother had a heart attack, and underwent an angioplasty2 in order to
receive a stent3. In accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC) (2015), the American

Rock And Roll History
The begins of rock and roll have always been challenged as to when they were first established. The
most common argument is that is first started in Southern United states, the birth place of many of
the first early rock and roll music hits. As the south always had a huge majority of slaves from
Africa and immigrants from Europe, through the gathering of different influences that created a
connection between African musical traditions with European instrumentation. Immigration of
once slaves to populated urban centers including New York City and Chicago meant that both the
black and white communities were living in close proximity, resulting in hearing each other s
music and even began to follow and impersonate each other s fashions .

Fsajiro Yamauchi Accomplishments
On September 23, 1889, just weeks before his thirtieth birthday, an entrepreneur named Fusajiro

Student Loans
Student Loans
The federal government has the power to cutback the funding of student loans. There are several
different ways the government can go about doing this. One way is to keep the amount of each loan
the same and reduce the number of loans granted. Another option the government has is to reduce
the amount of each loan and issue the same number as in the past. Either way, students that belong
to a low income family will be greatly affected. Cutbacks in the funding of student loans have
several effects. One effect is less fortunate individuals will miss the opportunity of attending college.
However, it is not that the poor are unintelligent, but can not afford to attend college without a loan.

In a case such as this, young adults will be forced to drop out of school and into the work field.
Student loans help low income families to achieve their highest potential. Another effect is that
many colleges will become financially burdened. The amount of money a school receives
depends on the number of students enrolled. This money is divided among the schools fixed
costs that include teacher salaries, programs, new equipment, and campus beautification. With a
decrease in students several sacrifices will have to be made. For example, there might not be
enough money to pay all the teachers that are currently staffed. As a result many of them will be
laid off. There will also be a cutback in the number of classes, which are being offered due to the
limited staff. Equipment such as microscopes, computers, and lab supplies will not be updated
and replaced as quickly as well. College sports programs maybe one of the first to be cancelled
because given such tight budget educators will want to put their funds toward academics. Finally,
the economy as a whole will suffer. In toadays work field businesses usually search for well
educated individuals to add to their successful team. As student enrollment drops there are less
educated students that graduate. This makes it difficult for businesses to find individuals with the
right knowledge, training, and skills for open positions. When a business is understaffed, they have

Core Functions of Case Management
The case management process consists of five parts: assessment, treatment planning, linking,
advocacy, and monitoring. It is not a linear process and does not follow the order it is written up.
There may be some back and forth and returning to certain points.
Screening
Contact between an addictions counsellor and a client is usually initiated by the client referring
him/her self, an outside agency refers them, family physician or the addictions counsellor initiates

Although the main goal of the assessment is to refer clients to treatment, many clients refuse
treatment. However, they are willing to accept referrals to non addiction agencies to resolve
problems that have either been caused by addiction or that led to the problems. This assessment
may be an intervention that the client needs. You will want to use the appropriate research based
screening tools that may be applicable to the client s individual circumstances.
Treatment Planning
The treatment planning process helps the client select the level and intensity of treatment that
works best for them. When planning treatment the counsellor can consider preferences and the
services available. The treatment plan may change over time but it provides a focus for ongoing
support. The treatment plan comprises of two main functions, it allows for a negotiation between
the client and assessor for specific interventions to address the identified problems as well as allows
them to develop a manageable plan. It is important when negotiating with the client that the
counsellor listens to what the client wants and is capable of undertaking with agreement to
implement. Each client is unique and every treatment plan should also be tailored to meet his or
her needs. The client must agree to all aspects of the plan. The treatment involves four stages,
prioritizing problem areas and exploring options with the client, matching services available to the

My Day Last Year, I Played A Soccer Player Essay
One day last year, I played a soccer game. How two kids slid at me, not knowing what I was
going to get myself into that day and how it would change my life. This is a story, of how an
injury impacted my dream of becoming a soccer player. In return, that injury shed light in another
direction for me.
Saturday, early morning, birds were chirping, we had the earliest game that day. I arrived early,
as well as other players. As always, we greeted each other and began to complain how early it
was and how tired we were. Our coached arrived and we began to warm up before the game and
we started to do high knees and lunges. We also, did quick sprints back and forth and we
gathered in a circle and stretched our hamstrings, quads, calf s, and hips. We began to huddle up
and our coach gave us the same generic speech. That we need to communicate and work
together. He began to choose the starting lineups; I was starting off as middle, my brother as
defense and so on and so forth. We started to line up on the filed prepared to play. We were ready
to win the game, most of all just to play. This game was also a friendly match, which there is
technically no competition for anything, no trophy, no medals just competing for the love of the
game and as well winning.
The referee blew the whistle and we began with the ball. We started to play with it. I always

SIDS Memo
Dear head of department Mr. Johnson,
The purpose of this memo is to answer two important question concerning:
1.What level of commitment should there be concerning each one of the challenges that Small
Islands Developing States (hereinafter SIDS ) face?
2.What is the best solution to reduce threats to international peace and security that arise from, or
are connected to, the SIDS?
Introduction
To answer these questions, it is important to get to know, what the challenges that SIDS face are.
Because of extensive and open coastlines, SIDS are facing various forms of transnational organized
crimes such as: drugs and guns smuggling, money laundering, piracy, human trafficking. SIDS is
also very sensitive to climate change, climate variability, sea level rise and natural disasters. In
addition, these Islands are also facing problems like: their small size, remoteness from large
markets, illicit exploitation of natural resources and more. Each of these issues is very significant
and need to be helped with.

Rhetorical Analysis Of Chief Powhatan
A leader has many responsibilities as a role model and caretaker for their people. Facing hard
challenges and knowing how to deal with them is a part of being a great leader all of which are
Chief Powhatan showed. Chief Powhatan whose proper name was Wahunsenacawh, was the
superior chief of Tsenacommacah, an alliance of Algonquian speaking Virginia
Indians in the
Tidewater region of Virginia at the time English settlers landed at Jamestown in 1607. In his
address to Captain John Smith Chief Powhatanexpresses how he desires peace between the settlers
and the Tsenacommacah. He utilizes distinct rhetorical elements such as rhetorical questions,
diction and argumentation to further support his view on what he desired to occur between his
people and the English settlers.
Chief Powhatan begins to address his statement by using rhetorical questions in order to support
his claim of peace. For example in lines 5 through 7 Powhatan says Why should you take by
force that from us which you can have by love? Why should you destroy us who have provided
you with food? What can you get by war? Obviously Powhatan doesn t expect Captain John Smith
to answer his questions but he uses this in order to create a growing tension that drives a
questioning mentality about whether using force is the best method when love is another
alternative. He also recounts on how it is unwise and unethical to break ties with the people who
have fed and given shelter to the settlers. Without them the settlers would be starving and freezing
to death turning to barbaric methods of survival. In line 9, he continues to support his claim by
saying what is the cause of this jealousy? , this is important because the settlers became envious of
how the Tsenacommacah were so well developed, having shelter, and food. Having these benefits
over the settlers Powhatan came to the conclusion that the settlers would attempt to pilfer all that
the Tsenacommacah had acquired. With this in mind Powhatan decides to express his desire for
peace so that neither side would eventually aim for violence from lines 9 through 15.
Chief Powhatan continues to enhance his argument by using diction to add more emotion and
meaning to the message he is trying to convey.

WHAT DO WE NEED TO KNOW FOR PREVENTING JUVENILE CRIME?
Each individual lives in the US nowadays is influenced by juvenile crime. It sways parents,

programs that have tried to lower this rate. A few are truly unbeaten, whereas a lot of others have

An amount of various kinds of programs presently exist. Those that get engaged with the antisocial

This is verified by the fact that all of the profits of Capital were to be distributed to Eastfield
through a dividend payment. Secondly, the subsidiary must be actively conducting the business as
appointed by the parent. Since Capital Pty Ltd was initially set up for the financing needs of
Eastfield, and solely used the workforce of Eastfield, this second criteria is met. Further, since
Eastfield decided on a strategic plan which called for a new corporate structure , essentially
supplying the debt finance for Eastfield, it can be said that Eastfield was the head and brain of this
trading venture, thus meeting the third criteria. Additionally, as Eastfield decided all decisions
regarding this capital funding structure, the 4th agency principle is met; whereby the parent
company governs the venture and determining capital structure. Since Capital earned significant
interest income...from the repayment of the various loans...undertaken by Eastfield it can be
established that the parent company, Eastfield, maintained profits through its own skill and
direction towards the subsidiary. Lastly, the parent company must be in constant and effectual
control, which is confirmed by the fact that all the directors of the subsidiary company, sit on the
board of the parent company, thus establishing constant and effective control. Through the above

Costa Ric A Similar Base Structure Of Development
Many in the region of South and Central America have had a similar base structure of
development. While the native population of each state differed by cultural aspects and
population size, all were subjected to the Spanish inquisition. Despite having similar past,

first major difference compared to its neighbors is that of the size of Costa Rica s indigenous

Spain was the idea that they could have a large amount of power without barely any work. This

of radiation that is or is not good for the fetus or the women carrying the child. With too much
radiation to the unborn child it could cause organ dysfunction, growth development, and many
other things. X rays are also safe when you follow the correct precautions. There are also a lot of
reason why not to be around x rays when a woman is pregnant.
With being the operator of the x ray you should only be pointed at your head and not your chest,
organs, or even the fetus unless you get an abdominal x ray but even then the risk of radiation
exposure is lower than the chance of needing an abdominal x ray. Other precautions you should
take to avoid the scatter radiation is stand be hand a wall or lead barrier if using a wall mount
machine, or if using a hand help(nomad) x ray machine you should apply a lead apron to you and
your patients. If you are the patient and are getting the x ray, make sure you tell the dental team that

Yes, this may be partially true but it is also half false. The reason it is true is because if the x ray
is of certain areas it will not affect the baby. If it is of the pelvic or womb area, there will be a
little bit of radiation exposed to the fetus. Over a period like an assistant or doctor in this case
could cause the baby to be in harm s way. Also this could lead to several birth defects, disease, or

Pros And Cons Of Anti Political Dynasty In The Philippines

Balbacal, Mikaella C.

Anti political dynasty
Political dynasty is a well known method of politicians in the Philippines wherein the members
of the family is made also a member of the government in order for them to not lose power but to
gain more power. This act is an unfair and unjust because the government is not a business that a
family can run by themselves, but the government is for all and other people should be given
chances wherein they can be the one that leads a community. The government or politics is not a
business that can be run by the generation and the generation of a family, the government is a
critical part of a community having different leaders in every generation and not only one leader
that has his or her family in the position of the government, because the system will not change it

They would want to dominate the society and because of that attitude, it will lead to the fall of the
society and its people. House Bill 3587 or the act prohibiting the Establishment of Political
Dynasties seeks to prohibit relatives up to the second degree of consanguinity to hold or run for
both national and local office in Successive, simultaneous, or overlapping term. The quote
Successive, simultaneous, or overlapping term , means that you cannot run as a politician if a
member of your family or relative is still in the politics. An anti dynasty law would likely have a
naturally gradual impact, given staggered voting in the Senate, varying terms, the probable re
election of many incumbents, etc. This bill brings potential about real reform. The families that
have been voted over and over again would abuse the people, because they have their trust and

Summary Of Catch 22 By Joseph Heller
David Payne
9/10/15
Mrs. Baker
AP English 4
Aggressors and Victims in Catch 22 Catch 22 by Joseph Heller is an obvious satire about modern
day ethics in business, medicine, and the military and the incompetence, pettiness, and corruption
within the bureaucratic ranks of the military. Each of its character s represent something special
and they are either aggressors or victims of the aggressors. The aggressors in the novel are the
ones who bully or manipulate selfishly and heartless. They have zero compassion for human life
and answer only to those with the money and the power. The victims are the ones that are the target
of such bullying and manipulation by the aggressors. The aggressors in the novel are Milo
Minderbinder, ex P.F.C. Wintergreen, Colonel Cathcart, General Dreedle, and Captain Black. The
victims in Catch 22 are Yossarian, Doc Daneeka, Nately, the Chaplain, and Major Major. Milo
Minderbinder, the first aggressor, is satire for modern business and all that is wrong with it. As
a mess officer he runs a lucrative enterprise syndicate and his only real care is profit. He will go
to great lengths to make a profit and he has no allegiance or loyalty to a country, person, or
principle unless it pays him. He cares about no one other than the money and therefore has no real
concern for anyone else. Even though he says that everyone has a share in the profits of the
syndicate, this is not really true, he just says it to make more money for himself with their help.

Designing A Successful Brand Collaboration
Introduction
What comes to your mind if Tumi meets Mini Cooper? What do you think if fashion meets soda?
You will be surprised and curious about them. This is the magic of brand collaboration.
Collaboration strategy becomes a trend/mainstream in various fields these years. The idea of brand
collaboration is frequently used in different industries, especially the fashion, food, and film
industry. Forming a successful brand collaboration is one of the best and most effective ways to
reach new customers. An unexpected collaboration can refresh strategy and build a good brand
awareness. More and more brands realize these benefits of collaboration, so it becomes a popular
choice for them to form partnerships with others. The trend of brand collaboration will continue a
couple years, so it becomes more competitive because more industries and brands decide to enter
this trend. Reconsidering who and how to strengthen the collaboration can be the way of
developing the strategies in the future. Companies need to select a good/fit partner and identify the
idea they want to achieve in order to set up a successful collaboration. Customers will still have a
large interest in this trend but there are few matters that customers would like to have improved,
such as quality or functions.
Fashion industry s innovation: H M

instituting the district managers roles as coaches, rather than as policemen and they would

Comparing Motherhood In A Secret Narrow And A Secret...
Romance novels are typically based in a set pattern and Karen van der Zee s A Secret Sorrow is
no exception. Meanwhile, in Gail Godwin s A Sorrowful Woman , the romance aspect is not
nearly as focused on. While A Secret Sorrow is a nice, easy romance novel, the short story A
Sorrowful Woman is a much better example of literature, and portrays a much more unique
message. The two stories differ greatly when compared by their theme, by the role of motherhood
and children, and by how they are written. Theme is almost predictable in most romance novels.
In A Secret Sorrow, the conflict of Faye, the main character, not being able to have children is
easily overcome by the power of love. Faye and her future husband end up adopting children and...

They go by a set pattern of style and writing. They are usually written with non complex
sentences and often use cliched language and descriptions. For example, Faye is described as a
terrified animal (32) at one point, and Kai s descriptions consist of him speaking huskily and
being tan and strong. The story uses chiched and flaccid descriptions such as, strong brown
hands (35), dark face , and intense blue eyes (32). These sorts of phrases and wording are
common in romance novels, with the hero in them usually being a tall, strong, and dark man,
and being described in the same way. All and all, it is easy to read. A Sorrowful Woman ,
however, is written in an interesting manner, the author choosing to omit names. The wife and
mother in the story is only known as the woman, the husband is only known as the husband, and
the child is only known as the child. While A Secret Sorrow has more bland writing, A Sorrowful
Woman has more stylistic writing and more literary elements. It uses more complex sentences
and unnatural sounding and stiff dialogue, including, I don t know what we ll do. It s all my
fault, I know. I m such a burden, I know that. Let me think. I ll think of something. . . . I know
you will. You always do (40). The overall effect is it gives off an air of mystery that keeps the
reader guessing. Rather than giving everything to the reader like A secret Sorrow,

Compare And Contrast Petruchio And Kate In Taming Of The...
Victor Vernick Honors English Mr. Kupersmith 29, May 2018 Are Petruchio and Kate a match
made in heaven? To all the married men in this world, does it ever occur in your mind if your
significant other still belongs in your life? While that might be a question for some, we all know
that Kate and Petruchio make a great couple. But, one might ask, isn t it true that Kate and
Petruchio would not make a good couple because they argue with one another often. This may
convince some people; however, it does not address all the facts. In William Shakespeare s,
Taming of the Shrew, Kate and Petruchio are a perfect match because of their similar personalities.
Petruchio and Kate are very much alike in the way that they are honest about everything. In Act 2

Mterials Used for Turbine Blades in Jet Engines
Turbine blades used in jet engines can be made from such materials as nickel based superalloys.
We can, in principle, even use ceramic materials such as zirconia or other alloys based on steels.
In some cases, the blades may have to be coated with a thermal barrier coating
(TBC) to minimize exposure of the blade material to high temperatures. What design parameters
would you consider in selecting a material for the turbine blade and for the coating that would work
successfully in a turbine engine? Note that different parts of the engine are exposed to different
temperatures, and not all blades are exposed to relatively high operating temperatures.
What problems might occur? Consider the factors such as temperature and humidity in ... Show

prediction that the authors had throughout the study was that there would be underlying issues
with chronic infection and age related problems. The data was conducted between 2001 and 2007,

was found was that the young and young adult survivors are now dealing with problems way
worse which are associated with HIV, a more chronic HIV which causes long term complications,
such as poor bone health. The authors also observed that there were very high rates of genital tract

Analysis Of Dana Stevens Thinking Outside The Idiot Box

TV Does Not Make You Smarter There is no doubt that television holds a purpose in our society
today, but is that purpose brain numbing or actually beneficial to our brain development? The
television, also known as: TV, the boob tube, the idiot box, as well as many other nicknames, has
been around for almost a hundred years. Ever since cable TV became popular in the 1950 s, there
has always been a worry that people watch too much TV. Most people believe that with exorbitant
exposure to the popular media both dumbs us down as well as makes us more likely to tolerate
acts of violence. Dana Stevens Thinking Outside the Idiot Box argues that television does not make
you smarter, directly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stevens says, Johnson s claim for television as a tool for brain enhancement seems deeply,
hilariously bogus (297). She believes that watching television today does not make the viewer
smarter but that it essentially just turns their brains into vegetables. Looking at the picture after
reading this, I had a more clear understanding of this part of her argument. Also on the contrary to
Johnsons article, Stevens discusses the examples of television shows that Johnson mentions that he
is convinced enhances brain function by making the viewers pay attention, make inferences, and
track shifting relationships between characters. Some of these shows are The Sopranos, 24, Hill
Street Blues, and others. The show The Sopranos, is a prime example because this show will
connect multiple threads at the same time, layering one plot atop another (Johnson, 283).
Therefore, The Sopranos require a lot more attention from their audience engaging them with
complex characterization and intertwining multiple episodes, which is what Johnson calls the
Sleeper Curve. But does engaging in television shows such as this benefit the brain in anyway?
Stevens says no; she believes in watching shows like these, watching TV teaches you to watch more
TV (Stevens, 296).

Example Of Government Manipulation
Government Manipulation The United States government claims that that they are always for
the people of America. And make it sound patriotic and civilized like everything is going the
way it should. When in reality they are hiding the truth from the U.S citizens whether it is
education, laws, or news from the media. The United States government continues to buy/adopt
new government plans through media that we are not always fully aware of. John Maxwell
Hamilton/ Kevin Kosar explain specific ways in which they are doing to control what we
choose/pay for. We have a right to know which companies receive government contracts, how to
collect insurance benefits and social security payments and what public school educational
reform will look like. But too often, the government uses its information machinery to do more
than simply inform us about a policy. Sometimes, it tries to persuade us to adopt a particular
position, regardless of its efficacy. What Hamilton and Kosar are saying is that the government is
very bias about media propaganda and persuading the people of the United States about plans
/regulations that we barely understand or know about, into using our own money towards what
they want. Rather than the other choices that they did not want us to know. This also relates to
large news sources such as, Fox News and CNN, who tend to have a bias point of view with little
background information as possible. People tend to believe Fox News because of their popularity

Jillian Ann Montgomery s Obituary Analysis
In this paper, I will analyze an obituary about Jillian Ann Montgomery who was killed in a car
accident. Most obituaries are of people one may not be familiar with, just like this case of Jillian.
Obituaries begin with the name, age, and place of residence of the deceased, along with the time
and place of death. Jillian s obituaryincludes her name, age, residence, and the day when she was
killed. It is not in all cases were the cause of death is included but the obituary indicate she was
killed in a car accident. Since obituaries serve as a notice to friends or distance family that
someone is deceased. The obituary also included the place, date, year of birth and parents of the
deceased. The next step for most obituaries is to include the life of the deceased. According to

In Jillian s obituary these forms are not used to describe the obituary as a genre thus failing to
achieve that step of writing an obituary. The audience of an obituary is in most cases family,
friends, and coworkers of the deceased. However in some cases the obituary audience can
involve the general public if the deceased was a well known person such as celebrity or
politicians. It could also be an outstanding person is a specific discipline such as medicine,
environment such as someone who has created a cure to certain diseases. In Jillian s obituary she
was mentioned to have volunteered at humane society thus meaning the publication of the obituary
will be made in a hometown newspaper and nationwide. This means her obituary was meant for the
public. Another way an obituary can be focused to the public is if the obituary has mentioned that
all are invited not excluding other people, which in the case of Jillian s obituary all were invited to

  • 2. Youth over Age Introduction Jim Fogle has worked in the technical sector for more than 30 years. He has held various positions within the same company throughout his career. During this time, he has witnessed the introduction of new technologies while countless others have gone obsolete. Although Fogle possesses several years of proven industry experience, his career path does not reflect his performance or skills. In fact, Fogle s career has tended to move on a downward slope. Originally a member of the Engineering department, Fogle has found himself serving within progressively lesser roles. Twenty years ago, Fogle served as an area support manager and coordinated technical service and support over the Southeast region. Fifteen... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As employees get older, job performance across various professional and non professional positions has been proven to hold steady (Judge and Judge, 2007, pg. 49 50). Despite evidence to the contrary, stereotypes and biased beliefs continue to permeate the information technology sector. This is partially due to the nature of the industry itself. Information technology companies are geared towards developing innovative technical products and services for businesses and consumers. Technology rapidly evolves and adapts to address society s needs. For instance, the telephone gave way to the facsimile machine. This soon became virtually obsolete with the introduction of newer technologies such as email and instant messaging (Charness, 2006). Companies within the IT sector seek to maintain a workforce that reflects the youth and vigor of their technology. Sylvia Francis, a researcher of age discrimination, notes, These industries are looking to match staff with their perceived young image, and once you hit 40 you no longer fit (Computer Weekly, 2006). Older workers also tend to shun job postings or interviews referring to young, dynamic organizations or projects, as these descriptors infer an environment that prefers youth rather than experience (Goodwin, 2006). A 2001 survey illustrates the disparity in both staffing and average salaries for IT professionals. This survey consisted of 3,629 total respondents, of which 40 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To overcome this, the resources must be used wisely so that coming generations can get benefit and ensure that there are enough resources left for them. • 5. Drug Prohibition – The solution that never worked Essay Countries have been making drugs illegal over the years for varieties of reasons be it to combat a perceived moral or health epidemic, to single out certain groups of people, or to reflect religious influences. Even when some drugs do not present notable health dangers, governments ban them. While there are many drugs that are unhealthy when abused, the drugpolicies around the world, particularly the United States, are inconsistent and oppressive. Drug laws were supposedly created for the good of society, but the prohibitionof drugs only serves to cause problems, violence, and unrest. Starting from a historical standpoint, we can see that past endeavors to ban substances were often motivated by discrimination and racism. Drug... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These deaths are due to drug wars and fights over territory between the various organized crime groups, who get their business by trafficking drugs over the United States border. Their booming business and death count directly depend on the prohibition of drugs to continue. Former US narcotics officer Michael Levine worked undercover with some Colombian cocaine cartels and talked about what he learned: I learned that not only did they not fear our war on drugs, they counted on it to increase the market price and to weed out the smaller, inefficient drug dealers. They found U.S. interdiction efforts laughable. The only U.S. action they feared was an effective demand reduction program. On one undercover tape recorded conversation, a top cartel chief, Jorge Roman, expressed his gratitude for the drug war, calling it a sham put on for the American taxpayer that was actually good for business (Lynch, 92). Prohibition of drugs continues to allow organized crime to raise their death toll and make massive profits. Further evidence on how prohibition can fail and give rise to crime is quite clear looking back to the attempted prohibition of alcohol in the 1920s in the United States. The Volstead Act and Eighteenth Amendment to the Constitution banned the sale of alcohol and caused much unrest among the citizenry of the country. Widespread criminal ... • 9. Deforestation Of Latin American Forest Deforestation presents in an abundance of ways, including fires, clear cutting for agriculture, ranching and development, unsustainable logging for timber, and degradation due to climate change. The foremost reason of deforestation in Latin America is the requirement for food, fuel, shelter, and foreign exchange. Year on year, a space of tropical forest the size of Great Britain is converted from an area equal to the size of Europe. Ever since 1950, according to the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), half of the world s forests have disappeared. Latin America has lost 37 percent of its tropical forests, says the FAO. As more and more of Latin American forest are degraded, more and more detrimental effects are being seen. • 13. The Vampire Effect Of Dracula Not many people would think that they can be compared to Count Dracula. Considered to be one of the most well known monsters of all time, Count Dracula sucks the blood of his victims, which would ultimately lead to their death. While this seems like a very unique example, it can be applied to nearly every person, specifically in the college stetting. This phenomenon that can be linked to this monster is called the vampireeffect. First used in the book ______, this term refers to the what happens in socialgroups due to different personality types that were caused by a difference in economic background. Set in a college dormitory, chapter 4 of the book discusses how there is a difference in the social lives of students who are quiet versus students who are more outgoing. Students who were shy were generally ignored and did not seem to partake in many social activities. While Armstrong and Hamilton suggest that the Vampire Effect arises due to the social students knowingly ignoring and rejecting the shyer students, that is not the case. The cycle through which the effect takes place starts with self comparison due to economic status, envy, and self blame, and results in anxiety and self isolation. Although this is done unintentionally, consciously known factors such debt and class also play a role in the process. As Armstrong and Hamilton describe the social isolates , Others treated the quieter roommate as sort of a sidekick or an invisible appendage (105). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On December 17, 2014, the United States and Cuba announced that they would restore diplomatic ties. Diplomatic ties is defined as The art or practice of conducting international relations, as in negotiating alliances, treaties, and agreements by The Free Dictionary. This means that two countries work together and with other countries to talk about alliances and make treaties and agreements. When they cut off diplomatic ties, the United States and Cubabasically had nothing to do with each other on the international scene. History of Cuba Cuba was first discovered by Spanish explorers about 500 years ago. Cuba is the largest country of the West Indies, which include Jamaica, Hispaniola, and Puerto Rico. Cuba has a population of over 11 million people. They have been shut off from the United States since 1959. • 16. Essay On Retrograde Amnesia What is Retrograde Amnesia? Retrograde Amnesia is, being a common type of Amnesia, is the one most people are familiar with. Retrograde Amnesia is the loss of past memories. If someone falls and hits their head, the damage caused by that accident could cause the person to forget that the accident even occurred. For example, a friend once decided to try snowboarding, and did not learn how to stop before she went to the top of the hill. She went down, picking up speed, and did not notice the small cliff at the bottom until it was too late to turn away. She decided to fall so she would not go over the cliff, and while she was successful at that, she unfortunately hit her head on a patch of ice as she fell. She remained conscience, but lost not only the memory of the accident, she lost her memory of the entire week of the trip. Since this type of Amnesiausually happens when trauma occurs to the brain, it seems likely that the accident causes failure in the brains ability to retrieve information. Information is stored in many different parts of the brain, so retrieval must also be in more than one part to occur. When a blow occurs to the head, the brain essentially is bounced, from one end to the other. Since the brain is floating in fluid, typically damage occurs in more area s than where the hit actually happened. Because damage occurs to several parts of the brain, the risk ... Rhetorical Analysis Of 1984 By George Orwell In this excerpt from 1984, by George Orwell, Winston Smith, a worker for the ministry of truth, has been caught for committing a thought crime and is being taken to room 101 for punishment. During the passage, Smith desperately tries to escape his punishment. Through the use of rhetorical devices such as repetition, imagery, and details, the tone of urgency is revealed In the excerpt, Orwell uses the rhetorical device of repetition in order to create suspense. For example, right before the rats are going to attack, Winston says, Do it to Julia! Do it to Julia! Not me! Julia! I don t care what you do to her. Tear her face off, strip her to the bones. Not me! Julia! Not me! The repetitive screams for help from Winston reveals the tone as he is frantically begging for mercy. Another example of repetition is used is when Orwell writes, To think, to think, even with a split second left to think was the only hope This reveals the tone as it reveals Winston only has a split second to save himself from the rats, and he must be able to think fast in order to do it.... The wire door was a couple of hand spans from his face. The rats knew what was coming now. In addition, another example is when the book says Winston heard a succession of shrill cries which appeared to be occurring in the air above his head. But he fought furiously against his panic. This displays the tone as Winston has now begun to panic after hearing the cries of the rats above him. As he desperately fights against his punishment, the tone of urgency is ... By using metaphor, imagery, and repetition, Thomas reinforces the son s message that aging men see their lives with sudden clarity and realize how they might have lived happier, more productive lives. The son also mentions good men who do not die peacefully. These men despair that their feeble deedsdid not accomplish enough. Even though they were good men, they feel they could have done so much more if given the time. The son next tells his father how wild and grave men also struggled with death. Wild men spent their lives frivolously, wishing time on its way. They learn when it is too late that they hurried time too fast and now they cannot recapture what they so wantonly spent. Their lives were foolishly wasted. The son also mentions grave or serious men who review their lives with a swift lucidity when death is upon them. Read on to learn about PCI regulations and what you need to do to remain compliant. What is PCI? PCI stands for Payment Card Industry. When referring to the subject of PCI compliance, you are actually talking about a set of industry standards known as PCI DSS, where the DSS stands for Data Security Standards. These standards were designed to ensure that businesses handle credit card information in a secure manner. The first version of data security standards was released in December 2004 to combat the increasing rate at which cardholder information was being stolen online. The PCI DSS was established in 2006 with the formation of the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC). The council focuses on improving security of credit card transactions as technology and market trends change the security concerns in the industry. The PCI SSC was created by the major credit card brands, including MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover; however, the council is not responsible for PCI compliance. As always, we greeted each other and began to complain how early it was and how tired we were. Our coached arrived and we began to warm up before the game and we started to do high knees and lunges. We also, did quick sprints back and forth and we gathered in a circle and stretched our hamstrings, quads, calf s, and hips. We began to huddle up and our coach gave us the same generic speech. That we need to communicate and work together. He began to choose the starting lineups; I was starting off as middle, my brother as defense and so on and so forth. We started to line up on the filed prepared to play. We were ready to win the game, most of all just to play. This game was also a friendly match, which there is technically no competition for anything, no trophy, no medals just competing for the love of the game and as well winning. The referee blew the whistle and we began with the ball. We started to play with it. I always receive the ball second, after the forward passes it back to me I turn around and passed the ball to one of my defensive players. We ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Facing hard challenges and knowing how to deal with them is a part of being a great leader all of which are Chief Powhatan showed. Chief Powhatan whose proper name was Wahunsenacawh, was the superior chief of Tsenacommacah, an alliance of Algonquian speaking Virginia Indians in the Tidewater region of Virginia at the time English settlers landed at Jamestown in 1607. In his address to Captain John Smith Chief Powhatanexpresses how he desires peace between the settlers and the Tsenacommacah. He utilizes distinct rhetorical elements such as rhetorical questions, diction and argumentation to further support his view on what he desired to occur between his people and the English settlers. Chief Powhatan begins to address his statement by using rhetorical questions in order to support his claim of peace. For example in lines 5 through 7 Powhatan says Why should you take by force that from us which you can have by love? Why should you destroy us who have provided you with food? What can you get by war? Obviously Powhatan doesn t expect Captain John Smith to answer his questions but he uses this in order to create a growing tension that drives a questioning mentality about whether using force is the best method when love is another alternative. He also recounts on how it is unwise and unethical to break ties with the people who have fed and given shelter to the settlers. Without them the settlers would be starving and freezing to death turning to barbaric methods of survival. In line 9, he continues to support his claim by saying what is the cause of this jealousy? , this is important because the settlers became envious of how the Tsenacommacah were so well developed, having shelter, and food. Having these benefits over the settlers Powhatan came to the conclusion that the settlers would attempt to pilfer all that the Tsenacommacah had acquired. With this in mind Powhatan decides to express his desire for peace so that neither side would eventually aim for violence from lines 9 through 15. Chief Powhatan continues to enhance his argument by using diction to add more emotion and meaning to the message he is trying to convey. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But, one might ask, isn t it true that Kate and Petruchio would not make a good couple because they argue with one another often. This may convince some people; however, it does not address all the facts. In William Shakespeare s, Taming of the Shrew, Kate and Petruchio are a perfect match because of their similar personalities. Petruchio and Kate are very much alike in the way that they are honest about everything. In Act 2 Scene 1, Kate has been caught by Baptista holding Bianca hostage. She sees that Baptista is protecting her from Kate and says,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Act 2 Scene 1, Katherina and Petruchio are meeting for the first time. Kate: A joint stool . Petruchio: Thou hast hit it. Come sit on me . Kate: Asses are made to bear, and so are you . Petruchio: Women are made to bear and so are you (II.i.191 196). This verbatim evidence would give the appearance that Kate and Petruchio might not be a good match because, in that scene, they have only just met and are instantly being aggressive towards one another by trading insults. In Act 4 Scene 5, Petruchio and Kate are on their way back to Baptista s home. Petruchio is arguing with Kate over whether or not it is night or day. Petruchio: Come on, a God s name! • 51. Mterials Used for Turbine Blades in Jet Engines Turbine blades used in jet engines can be made from such materials as nickel based superalloys. We can, in principle, even use ceramic materials such as zirconia or other alloys based on steels. In some cases, the blades may have to be coated with a thermal barrier coating (TBC) to minimize exposure of the blade material to high temperatures. What design parameters would you consider in selecting a material for the turbine blade and for the coating that would work successfully in a turbine engine? Note that different parts of the engine are exposed to different temperatures, and not all blades are exposed to relatively high operating temperatures. What problems might occur? Consider the factors such as temperature and humidity in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Such materials common in the industry include titanium and nickel superalloys. The Home Access HIV 1 Test System is a home kit that implicates a person s finger being pricked for a sample of their blood, after the blood is sent to the lab for testing the results would be available on the next available business day. If the results are positive the lab is required to do follow up testing on the blood sample to confirm if the initial HIVresult was accurate. The second type of at home HIV testing is the OraQuick In Home HIV Test, which is used with a swab stick and tube to keep the sample and testing solution. There is a better quality of life for people who are infected because of the medications and treatment processes. In the article Changing Trends in Complications and Mortality Rates Among US Youth and Young adults With HIV Infection in the Era of Combination Antiretroviral Therapy ,Mirani ,Williams and Chernoff create an awareness of complications and mortality rates in youth who have HIV in correlation with the decrease of using Combination Antiretroviral Therapy (CART). The key question the authors are addressing is if the HIV infection and long term CART create new challenges for the infected youth. The main prediction that the authors had throughout the study was that there would be underlying issues with chronic infection and age related problems. The data was conducted between 2001 and 2007, 1201. The study compared death of an HIV infected youth with pregnancy complications. What was found was that the young and young adult survivors are now dealing with problems way worse which are associated with HIV, a more chronic HIV which causes long term complications, such as poor bone health. The authors also observed that there were very high rates of genital tract infections, which are abnormal and can vastly increase rate of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis Of Dana Stevens Thinking Outside The Idiot Box Jessica Tursi English Comp I Kayal 11/5/13 TV Does Not Make You Smarter There is no doubt that television holds a purpose in our society today, but is that purpose brain numbing or actually beneficial to our brain development? The television, also known as: TV, the boob tube, the idiot box, as well as many other nicknames, has been around for almost a hundred years. Ever since cable TV became popular in the 1950 s, there has always been a worry that people watch too much TV. Stevens says, Johnson s claim for television as a tool for brain enhancement seems deeply, hilariously bogus (297). She believes that watching television today does not make the viewer smarter but that it essentially just turns their brains into vegetables. Looking at the picture after reading this, I had a more clear understanding of this part of her argument. Also on the contrary to Johnsons article, Stevens discusses the examples of television shows that Johnson mentions that he is convinced enhances brain function by making the viewers pay attention, make inferences, and track shifting relationships between characters. Some of these shows are The Sopranos, 24, Hill Street Blues, and others. The show The Sopranos, is a prime example because this show will connect multiple threads at the same time, layering one plot atop another (Johnson, 283). Therefore, The Sopranos require a lot more attention from their audience engaging them with complex characterization and intertwining multiple episodes, which is what Johnson calls the Sleeper Curve. But does engaging in television shows such as this benefit the brain in anyway? Stevens says no; she believes in watching shows like these, watching TV teaches you to watch more TV (Stevens, 296). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Example Of Government Manipulation Government Manipulation The United States government claims that that they are always for the people of America. And make it sound patriotic and civilized like everything is going the way it should. When in reality they are hiding the truth from the U.S citizens whether it is education, laws, or news from the media. The United States government continues to buy/adopt new government plans through media that we are not always fully aware of. John Maxwell Hamilton/ Kevin Kosar explain specific ways in which they are doing to control what we choose/pay for. We have a right to know which companies receive government contracts, how to collect insurance benefits and social security payments and what public school educational reform will look like. But too often, the government uses its information machinery to do more than simply inform us about a policy. Sometimes, it tries to persuade us to adopt a particular position, regardless of its efficacy. What Hamilton and Kosar are saying is that the government is very bias about media propaganda and persuading the people of the United States about plans /regulations that we barely understand or know about, into using our own money towards what they want. Rather than the other choices that they did not want us to know. This also relates to large news sources such as, Fox News and CNN, who tend to have a bias point of view with little background information as possible. People tend to believe Fox News because of their popularity and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
