Reflective Essay On Fasting
I chose fasting as my inward spiritual discipline. I did for more than the class plan was. I started
fasting in mid October During Ethiopian orthodox fasting. I abstained from all things a body needs,
and must fast from animal products and from any kind of food. I did couple days every week. I would
usually Friday and Wednesday. I think it was on the last day of 2 days fast, I felt so good, I felt like my
body was filled with God grace. At the end of fasting I tried to meditate but it was hard to concentrate.
The hardest part of fasting was talking about it for other people. What if someone offers you food? I
was Simply Sayed No, thank you, or I m all set, thanks. If they insist I tried to explain that I am not
eating that day. God ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Solitude allows me to see the value of myself in God s image. I sat in solitude wondering how I could
forget God s unconditional love for me and my worth that is found in Him. Solitude challenged my
relationship with my husband because I often said no to my husband, which caused him to be upset
with me and eventually made me feel like a bad person. I said no because I want to experience
Solitude. Even if I faced certain challenges while practicing Solitude, I found it was more rewarding
than anything spiritual practice. After every hour of Solitude, I felt more refreshed and I could feel the
love around me. I became more aware of when I was overwhelmed or needed to take a break from
events, socializing, or people. I learned about my limits, and what I can do to improve how much time
I can spend in situations that are exhausting or do not reflect God. The most rewarding part of solitude
was I always came out of it knowing my worth and that I was created to be here and I had a purpose. I
could see who I truly was and how I can live that out, which is something I often struggle with.
solitude helped me realize that it s okay if I do not meet the expectations. I finally realized that I can
stop trying to be like by everyone else because I was already loved by God. Practicing solitude opened
my eyes to how important it is to take care of my soul. The spiritual disciplines I practiced impacted
my life

Midterm Ecology Environmental Problems
1. (a) How might one best define ecology today? (b) Please define the term environmental problem ?
(c) Briefly describe the relationship between the science of ecology and our understanding of
environmental problems?
a) Ecology today can be defined as the study of the interrelationships between living things and their
environment . It is important to understand that when we say that ecology includes the environment ,
we are talking about everything that is external to an organism, all the biotic and abiotic. Nowadays it
also attempts to understand and explain the how and why of the origins and mechanisms of
interactions.
b) Environmental Problems could be defined as the problems of humans and their relationships with
their environment.
c) Ecology is the tool used to better understand the causes, effects, and potential mitigation of
environmental problems.
2. (a) Define cybernetic; (b) define homeostasis, (c) define homeorhesis; (d) discuss the relationships

A Media Controlled Race Riot
A Media Controlled Race Riot
The very first thing millions of people do when they wake up is check their phones, and log into
whatever social media sites that they are a part of, such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, and
many more. On these sites, there are several ads or newspaper articles depicting different political
messages or views. These advertisements and news articles can easily influence our thoughts on
different aspects of life, such as religious view or racial identity. During the era of the race riot, the
people of this time had their own version of media: the newspaper. More often than not, the first thing
people did in the morning was read the newspaper. The image that comes to mind is businessmen
sitting on trains or families gathered together in the morning reading the newspaper. In 1908,
Springfield, Illinois experienced a race riot that was mainly controlled by the opinion they were
receiving from the material from the media that they read and viewed.
Material that was available to the people of Springfield were newspapers and occasionally plays. A
play that was taking place almost a year before a riot was seriously on the minds of Springfield
citizens was The Birth of a Nation. A major occurrence that happened almost every time this play was
to take place in a northern community was interracial violence in and around the theaters that offered
it (Roche pg. 25). It may have been a mistake, but Springfield s black newspaper the Forum claimed

Southpaw Analysis
Evaluation of Southpaw
One of the most popular movies of 2015 was the sports drama Southpaw. The dramatic R rated movie
pulls you in, and makes you fall in love with the characters. Between the magic behind the camera and
the actual scenes, Southpaw is a movie that is very well put together. It would be an understatement to
say that the actors chosen to play the roles in this film are definitely a good fit. This movie will have
you feeling all of the emotions as if you were the character yourself. In my opinion, it is a must see
movie.
The film is directed by Antoine Fuqua, who has directed tons of successful action filled movies such
as Training day, The Equalizer, and Olympus Has Fallen. Fuqua does an outstanding job by using a
variety of angles, lighting, and music to intensify certain scenes throughout the movie. The boxing
scenes themselves are like being ringside at a real live boxing match. Fuqua made sure to get close up
looks on both opponents which shows blood, emotion, and dedication from the boxers. Kurt Sutter
was the screenwriter behind the film. Kurt Sutter is the creator of Sons Of Anarchy, a wildly
successful dramatic tv series. Overall, the movie would not be the same without this amazing pair.
Southpaw is the story of Billy The Great Hope (Jake Gyllenhaal) a short tempered, rough around the
edges boxing champion who grew up in Hell s Kitchen Orphanage. He adores his beautiful wife
Maureen (Rachel McAdams), who also grew up in Hell s Kitchen

Essay on Growing Up in San Francisco- Personal Narrative
Growing Up in San Francisco Personal Narrative Although I was born in Salem, Oregon, my earliest
memories are from San Francisco, California. My parents came to California to start over and find a
better life. For a while we lived on a bus parked in front of a friend s house. When I was three years
old, we moved to Potrero Hill, an area of low income housing projects in the big city. A very famous
man, O.J. Simpson, grew up there, but that was before my time. Potrero Hill was a bad neighborhood,
so bad that you could not get a pizza delivered there and forget about calling the cops because they
would not come. I remember the first and last time I saw a cop drive through our ... Show more

My family was one of the few white families around. This made the struggle to survive the
neighborhood even harder than it was for others. It was a reverse racism I was teased because I am
white. Still, it did not make me prejudiced at all. My godmother was black and most of my friends
were black. I used to beg my godmother, Deanna, to put my hair in corn rolls, tiny braids with beads
on the end. It would take hours and was very painful, but I took the pain in order to fit in.
One of my best friends was Theresa, a Vietnamese girl. I ate at her house often and I absolutely loved
the food. My favorite was rice soup. We took our shoes off by the door. We sat on the floor at a short
table to eat with chopsticks. My other best friend was Michael. He was half white and half black. For
that reason, he was often teased and beaten because he was a zebra (that is what the black kids called
him). At the time, I was four years old and Michael was seven. Although my mother did not allow me
to leave our block, we sneaked out anyway. He showed me the ropes, the ins and outs of ghetto life.
He showed me how things worked in the hood the dangerous people to stay away from, like drug
dealers, how to get around safely from one neighborhood to another, and the neighborhoods to stay
away from. We also played house, dolls, hide and go seek all the childhood games while at the same
time managing to learn and adapt to this no nonsense environment.

Market For Live Rock Concerts
5A. The graph below assumes the data in chart 3 Ticket sales revenue is climbing steadily by Pollstar
was quoted in 2008 dollars and includes only the 100 highest grossing tours. Supply/Demand Diagram
for Changes in Market for Live Rock Concerts (1998 2008):
5B. Economists use cross elasticity of demand to determine whether two products are substitutes or
complements. The cross elasticity of demand measures how quantity demanded of one good (albums)
responds to a change in the price for another good (live concert tickets). For example, between 1998
and 2008, sales of albums were down 45%, but over the same period, concert ticket sales revenues
more than doubled to $4.2 billion, despite rising rises. During this same time period, ... Show more

Free albums also encourage consumers to sample an artist s music. In contrast, there are few, if any,
alternatives to a live performance listening to an album is not considered a substitute for a live
concert. Additionally, most artists are unique and cannot be easily substituted by a different artist.
Another factor to consider is resources (cash) people who buy less albums have more cash to purchase
a contract ticket.
6A. Economic profit equals net earnings, in the accountant s sense, minus the opportunity costs of
capital and any other inputs supplied by the firm s owners. Bob and Jane s economic profit is different
from their accounting profit. Accounting Profit = Total Revenues Total Costs = $8.0 mil $7.4 mil = $.6
mil ($600,000). However, Economic profit = Accounting Profit ($600,000) Opportunity Costs
($360,000) = $240,000. As also discussed in 6B, opportunity costs here include the wages they forfeit
to run this business ($300,000),
PLUS a normal rate of return on the $600,000 paid up front for advertising (600,000*(.10)) or
$60,000.
6B. A fixed cost is the cost of an input whose quantity does not rise when output goes up, one that the
firm requires to produce any output at all. The total cost of such indivisible inputs does not change
when the output changes. Any other cost of the firm s operation is called a variable cost.
Fixed costs for Bob and Jane during their first year of operation is

Grizzly Man And The Cove Analysis
Final Doc Review
Grizzly Man and The Cove both share a common, fascinating theme: humans relationship with the
wild lives and the nature world. Both films centre on this theme but The Cove explores the slaughter
of dolphins in Taiji, Japan while Grizzly Man focuses on Timothy Treadwell s attempt to live with
grizzly bears. Both have a certain tragic plot about them, The Cove because of the cold blood
slaughter and Grizzly Man because of Treadwell s death. Both choose to focus on one species, for The
Cove its dolphins, Grizzly Man, its grizzly Bears. They may be both focused on the same topic but are

With all these enemies for the activists to face, it s good that we have a hero to root for and in this film
it s Ric O Barry. For years, O Barry was known as the best dolphin trainer in the world, having trained
many of the dolphins who appeared in the Flipper TV series. It was this particular job that convinced

Indigenous Tribes of Latin America
Indigenous People of Latin America
Throughout the world, when new lands were conquered, old customs would be lost. However, in Latin
America, a great deal of their indigenous tribes not only survived being conquered, they are still
around today. Different regions of Latin America are home to different peoples and many tribes are
part of ancient full fledged kingdoms. Some of these kingdoms are among the most well known in the
world.
The Meso American native peoples make Latin America famous. These peoples include the Aztecs
and Mayans. The Aztecs are most famous for their mathematical prowess and their calendars are
exceptionally accurate. Meanwhile, the Mayans are known for creating a fully written language and

Their language, Quechua is still in use today.
The Incas of Cusco originally represented one of these small and relatively minor ethnic groups, the
Quechuas. Gradually, as early as the thirteenth century, they began to expand and incorporate their
neighbors. Inca expansion was slow until about the middle of the fifteenth century. The Inca were
warriors with a strong and powerful army. Because of the fierceness of their army and their
hierarchical organization, they became the largest Native American society. Quechua is the most
widely spoken language and was the language of the Inca Empire.
Tropical rainforests have long been home to indigenous peoples who have shaped civilizations and
cultures based on the environment in which they live. Great civilizations like the Mayas, Incas, and
Aztecs developed complex societies and made great contributions to science. Living from nature and
lacking the technology to dominate their environment, native peoples have learned to watch their
surroundings and understand the intricacies of the rainforest. Over generations these people have
learned the importance of living within their environment and have come to rely on the countless
renewable benefits that forests can provide.
In Peru, it is estimated that there are at least 15 uncontacted tribes living in remote areas of the
Peruvian Amazon Rainforest. These include the Tagaeri, Taromenane, uncontacted

Mobile Phones And The Mobile Phone
In this day and age, it is almost impossible to not have a cell phone; the number of people who own a
cell phone is growing every year. At the end of 2011, there were almost 6 billion mobile subscriptions.
That is a dramatic increase from 5.4 billion in 2010 and 4.7 billion mobile subscriptions in 2009
(International Tele communications Union, 2011). With the introduction into society the cell phone
established a convenient way to communicate between individuals, and they have also connected the
world in a way that was thought to be impossible before their invention. When the mobile phone was
first invented its only purpose was to be able to make a phone call while on the go. The mobile phone
has gone through a great deal of technological advancement throughout the years. The cell phones
today are called smartphones, which have the capabilities of a computer with the features of mobile
phones. While society has benefited from mobile phones, there is a growing concern amongst a group
of individuals who argue that with this influx of cell phone technology people have become too
obsessed and dependent with their cell phone to the point where the device has had a negative impact
on many people s social skills. Some of the issues caused by cell phones are the way people use them
as a method for avoiding face to face interaction, the way texting encourages poor grammar
techniques, the numerous distractions cell phones create. One of the more obvious effects cell phones

Persuasive Essay On Doping In Sports
Doping In Sports Millions of people believe that MLB players serve as role models and idols in their
lives. Although, the use of PEDs (performance enhancing drugs) has left many people wondering
whether MLB players are truly elite. In Major League Baseball today, if an upcoming baseball player
like Mike Trout hit over 50 home runs in a total season, it would leave many fans wondering if he is
on steroids. PEDs, such as steroids, should only be used with proper regulation because using steroids
to enhance performance while one is completely healthy has unknown long term effects. Money
involved in sports are real and the competition is strong. A MLB player that has a good season with
over 30 home runs may get a new contract for millions. On the other hand, he may get hurt, get cut
from the team and is out of the league. Which can cause any player to use PEDs to get better so they
can get back to the league. Also, when a player gets in to the big leagues they realize the competition
is much harder, whether it s better pitching or better hitters, so they take PEDs to get up to a higher
level of play. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

main reasons for trying to ban steroids and other forms of doping from professional sports. PEDs may

Reflection Paper On Becoming A Nurse
What I m Looking Forward To
My goal in life is to continue my education towards becoming a labor and delivery nurse. As an
elementary aged little girl, I d sway back and forth on what I wanted to be when I grew up. One day, I
wanted to be a firefighter and the next day I d decided that I wanted to be a sign language interpreter,
which were both my parent s professions. Anything to be like mom and dad! I ran around the house
with my fisher price stethoscope and first aid kit and asked if I could check up on anyone and
everyone. Nowadays, when I think of who a nurse would be, it is exactly what fits my personality. A
calming, comforting friend to whomever they are around. I am passionate about helping people, and
love the health aspect of the medical field. Growing up, I was heavily influenced by nurses in my
family who talked highly of their profession. Their lifestyles of working and having families of their
own at the same time could be achieved. Flexibility in schedules, comradery in the workplace and
comfortable attire were surface level perks as I began my research into this career. When my grandpa
got admitted into the hospital this fall after a heart attack however, my idea of why I wanted to go into
this profession shifted. Emotions were flooding and at an all time high as I quickly wanted to help in
any way possible. I felt helpless and was so grateful for the nurse who stayed by his side aiding him in
anything and everything. The one thing in my life I

Disscuss the Contingency Approach to Management

One attraction of the contingency approach among theorists and practitioners alike is its situational
perspective. Those interested in research issues regarding organization and management can use the
contingency perspective to explain why some factors influence situations in one setting but have
virtually no influence in another setting. Indeed, one objective of research within the contingency
framework is to specify those dimensions and conditions that do affect a situation and those that do
not. For the manager, the requirement from the contingency perspective is to identify which technique
will, in a particular situation, best contribute to the attainment of organizational goals. For instance,
under some circumstances, an authoritarian leadership style may be more appropriate than a
leadership style that tries to get workers internally motivated.tuation. While the contingency approach
is useful in recognizing that the complexity involved in understanding human and organizational
systems makes it difficult to develop universal principles of management, there have been several
criticisms of the approach. For one, it has been pointed out that the logical extension of the
contingency approach is that all situations are unique. If this is true, then management can be
practiced only by intuition and

Charles Darwin to Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
How does Stevenson present duality in Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde? Stevenson presents duality in Dr.
Jekyll and Mr. Hyde in various ways. One of these variations of the duality is among the minor
characters, for example Utterson and Enfield. Their similarity is that they are both respectable
Victorian gentlemen, that both like to discuss stories but they feel it is gossiping about their friend and
say let us make a bargain to never refer to this again , this shows that they feel that they have over
stepped the mark and have stumbled upon something that is better left alone, this is also the first
mention of a mystery giving us a clue in to the genre. Dink gin ... he was alone this quote shows us

Jekyll). But the novel was also partly based on a play Deacon Brodia (1880) which is about a publicly
respectable gentleman but privately a thief and rakehell. The novel had been considered by some
people, mainly the higher ranked and important persons of the 19th centaury, as a criticism of
Victorian double morality meaning they felt it was presenting a false image of what went on in
London. They may have also have felt that it was encouraging other people to do things considered
wrong like. This shows duality between the novel and the behaviour in London during the 19th
centaury. The novel also creates a lot of tension as you progress through the text. It rises every time
something is discovered in the mystery of Hyde which strengthens it s the detective/mystery genre. At
the beginning all is calm but as Hyde comes to life, the tension rises. A really damnable man this
shows us how much Hyde is hated, but this also shows us where the tension begins to rise. The tension
is near enough sky high when the quotes something wrong with his appearance and He must be
deformed are used to make the audience worry and wonder what will prevail from the mystery of
Hyde. The weather is a ladder for the tension, described as a wild, cold, seasonable night of March ...
pale moon this was used when Utterson searched for Hyde, showing us a mysterious side of London.
Although it doesn t show much duality, it does play a part in making the novel s mystery

Nazi Germany Beliefs
As we all know, Nazi Germany is probably one of the most remembered things that ever happened in
history. So with that in mind, what is the true belief system behind the Nazi party? We all know that it
was probably, in many people s opinions, one of the most discriminated times in history as well. But
through a lot of research I found out that even though it was a really bad time for Jews, gypsies,
homosexuals, and colored people, it wasn t that bad on the economy, so with that in mind, what is the
true belief system behind the Nazi party? Why did he do what he did, and what was his point? Hitler
cared about Germany immensely and tried to show that he wanted what was best for the country. So I
will discuss some of his beliefs throughout what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We now realize that, sure, the whole death camp thing was not the way to go, but Hitler was an
extremist. He really believed that these people were causing major problems, and he convinced many
younger people of Germany so that they would have an impact on the next generation. Even though
all of this was sickening, his other strategies really helped the economy that was having major
problems during this time period. Hitler wanted a New Germany he wanted to focus on making a new
Germany a place where there are no mistakes, and everyone was perfect, and remember his form of
perfect was white, blonde with blue eyes, Christian and straight. He didn t accept anyone else. He didn
t want people like gypsies and homosexuals, he also felt like the Jews were the reason for Germanys
defeat in WWI so he needed to do something about them too. Hitler s extremist beliefs resulted in all
of these horrible things we still mourn about today. He loved his country like a nationalist but went to
extremes to save it. The devotion he put in his country helped when it came to economic possibilities.
Hitler had used his appearance in the courtroom to send a message to the General Staff that there
would be no attempt to replace the regular Army with an army of storm troopers and that once in
power, the Nazis would raise the German Army to new heights of greatness. This was exactly what the
generals wanted to

Characteristics Of King Arthur
Many know of the epic hero Arthur, but don t know what it is that makes him so. Though there isn t
one solid story, like Beowulf, there are multiple stories that agree on the same things, such as Arthur s
allegiance to the Knights of the Round table, his companion Merlin, his relationships with his fellow
knights, family, and close friends, and the legendary sword Excalibur. When all aforementioned
qualities are explained and put together, it can truthfully define Arthur as an epic hero. The legend of
the Knights of the Round Table is one of the utmost sources explaining Arthur s heroic qualities. The
Knights of the Round table was an organization that served the king directly but as equals, not
soldiers. It was made up of the most strong ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Sword in the Stone was only to be pulled by the most worthy and courageous hero and that hero
was Arthur. Arthur was only able to wield the weapon after the precise and great advisory of Merlin,
as well as his experiences in battles that tested his wit and morality. His ability to draw the sword only
further proves his morality and honor, making him an even more heroic character. His use of the
sword was further to impress the qualities that allowed him to achieve the weapon in the first place.
Yet another point to prove himself is his epic, as well as revolutionary, battles as a warrior. As one of
the most capable knights in the kingdom, Arthur was always on the front line of major battles or
smaller battles of great importance. His ability to quickly decide whether or not to kill his enemy or
simply make them give up and restrain them was of his greatest qualities as a leader. This proved that
he had morals that he kept and also proved that every decision he had made was for the greater good
of his kingdom and the people residing within. His ability to work as a group showed that he was
willing to work with others and that he believed in others as well as himself. What he fought for was
also important. The little he did fight was only to protect his honor and country as well as the people
he loved, proving that he only harmed when he needed to.

Emotional Intelligence Vs Cognitive Intelligence
I believe emotional intelligence stands ahead of cognitive intelligence by a little though latter is
equally powerful too. Emotional Intelligence Quotient is defined as a set of competencies
demonstrating the ability one has to recognize his or her behaviors, moods, and impulses, and to
manage them best according to the situation (Chib, 2012). Traditional cognitive intelligence is the
ability to plan, reason, and use logical deduction to solve problems, but also the capability to apply
abstract thinking while learning from and responding to the environment ( What is traditional
cognitive intelligence? , 2016). Emotional Intelligence is more important simply because it determines
how much mentally and psychologically strong and consistent a person is and the very same strength
drives us to keep doing things that are in the path of success.
Ashforth Humphrey (1995) say that it is a common belief that, when emotions are intertwined with
role, performance, or both, they tend to interfere with task achievement. However, to be emotionally
intelligent is to be able to let out emotions the right way. When we are able to stay humble during
success and determined during failures, patient during anger and calm during frustration, we basically
already win. However, on the other hand, no matter how logical we are, if we are just restless, then it
will not be worthwhile. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Invasive Types Of Invasive Species
Kho, Park What is an invasive species? Invasive species are plants, animal, fungi and bacteria that are
non native to the ecosystem around it. There are three different category of invasive species. The three
are category are invasive animal species, invasive fungus species, and last invasive plant species. You
can classify invasive plant by seeing if it is from the region or area.Well, an invasive plant has the
ability to thrive and spread aggressively outside its natural range. This means that they are able to
adapt to it surrounding very easily. A naturally aggressive plant may be especially invasive when it is
introduced to a new habitat. Some invasive plants are worse than others. For example, like the
witchweed, or even tall grass. When invasive plants like ivy or clematis dominate the groundcover,
there is very little root structure to bind the soils. That s why large areas dominated by invasive plants
are more likely to erode during flood events than areas with a diverse understory of trees and shrubs,
which provide more root structure diversity. Invasive Plants can cause declines in native plants and
animal numbers (www.portlandoregon.gov). For example, if a strong animal came in, such as a lion
and ate most of the weakest living things there are, then it can have a huge affect on the other kinds of
living animals around it this has the same effect with plants. For example, the kudzu plant

John T. Scopes Anti-Evolution Case Summary
In 1925, a young Tennessee school teacher named John T. Scopes defied the state s law prohibiting the
teaching of evolution. Scopes was arrested and the case immediately got national headlines causing
William Jennings Bryan to announce his intention to join the prosecution. Then, the ACLU got
involved and offered to defend Scopes. When Darrow heard about the case, he said he would defend
the school teacher free of charge. To Darrow s thinking, Bryan was the embodiment of all those
aspects of rural America that Darrow had escaped so many years before. The reality of the situation
was that it was not a trial in the strict sense of the term. Instead, as Tierney (1979) points out, it was a
set piece; a contrivance. The anti evolution law was out

a group of other parents objected to the daily speaking of the prayer, even though it was voluntary, at

president of the local school board. The parents reasoning was that this optional prayer didn t align
with the views of the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment of the United States Constitution.
The 1st amendment says Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or

Emotional Intelligence On Human Resources
Emotional Intelligence in Human Resources Emotional Intelligence is a key role for success in the
workplace, and it is vital for Human Resource Managers. Human Resources Managers deal with
people daily, and Emotional Intelligence should be used in all cases. The ability to know your own
emotions and recognize the emotions of others helps in the communication process with other
individuals. Management, as well as employees, must exhibit high emotional intelligence in order for
the company to grow and function at its highest profitability. As with any other component of a
company, emotional intelligence must be the most prevalent in management. Human Resources
Managers determine what type of employees the company hires and ultimately keeps. ... Show more

As environment changes, as it does quite often in the workplace, the person with high emotional
intelligence can adapt consequently. A person with low emotional intelligence is less equipped to face
dilemmas inside or outside the workplace. A high emotional intelligence gives those employees and
managers the advantage of accepting a negative situation and doing everything possible to create a
positive outcome. In the workplace, situations that are overly stressful are bound to arise and one with
low emotional intelligence will more than likely remain stagnant, not knowing how to handle the
mountain of stress to achieve the goal.
Emotional Intelligence in Recruiting
While searching for new employees, Human Resource Managers must keep an array of necessary
skills in the forefront of their mind. More recently, Human Resource Managers are starting to demand
employees display a relatively high emotional intelligence along with a high IQ, job experience,
stability, and the right personality (Thygesen, 2014). By hiring a person with an already high
emotional intelligence, assists the Human Resource Manager and can decrease the amount of conflict
that sometimes onboarding a new recruit can cause. In addition, it helps the Human Resources
Manager to have someone of a higher caliber on the team that can help with training of

The, Landscape, The Seat Of Mr. Featherstonhaugh
In the early nineteenth century, many in this country were searching for an art they could call their
own. Painter, poet, and essayist, Thomas Cole responded to this quest by creating pristine landscape
paintings unlike any yet seen in America. For the purpose of this project, I chose an art piece by Cole
called, Landscape, the Seat of Mr. Featherstonhaugh in the Distance created in 1826. The reason I
chose this specific painting was because of its diverse context, which allowed me to identify various
concepts related to visual perception. The first concept I identify was figure ground segregation.
Figure ground segregation refers to the perceptual separation of an object from its background (CITE).
That is, the figure being the object that attracts attention and is more memorable than the ground. In
the landscape artwork we can see how the cows specially the two closer to us seem to be caught more
of our attention than almost anything else in the painting(e.g. the grass). In this painting the cows are
the figure that stands out from its ground, which would be the grass. Similarly, we can apply this
concept to the big tree on the left side of the cows in the front. The big tree can also be considered to
be the figure as it stands out from the grass as well. Further, the trees further down in the painting that
seem to form kind of an island can also fall into this category given that the group of tress are standing
in the middle of the ground which in this case is the

Communism And The End Of History
Humankind is constantly striving to reach a point in history where war ceases and every person on
earth unites under a single cause. Articles like The Dell Theory, The End of History, and The Return of
Geopolitics all offer a unique viewpoint on what will prevent war in the future, what the ideal political
system is, and how to reach it. First, The End of History argues that when all countries unite together
in practicing liberal democracy, humankind will have reached the end point of ideological evolution.
In addition, The Dell Theory is about a man who orders a Dell laptop and proceeds to track the

every country has a liberal democracy government causing the world to never go to war. In order for

Examples Of Stereotyping And Prejudice
About Stereotyping and Prejudice
Prejudice of any kind implies that you are identified with the thinking mind. It means you don t see
the other human being anymore, but only your own concept of that human being.
To reduce the aliveness of another human being to a concept is already a form of violence.

When and why we in stereotype?
In the first article that I decided to review (Staple Noordewier, 2011) they went through a series of
correlation and experimental studies concluded that system justification motives result in stereotyping
and the motive behind it is the need for structure. They also mention the fact that people who feel part
of unjust systems are also more likely to engage in stereotyping and the impact of system justification
threat on stereotyping disappears when the desire to justify the system is satisfied through an
alternative route.
The system justification theory, described in this article, proposes that when people stereotype they
aren t just healing or preserving their selves but are instead providing justifications for the social
structure they belong to, and their believes that the world is just and legitimate. But why this need for
a justification? Simply because systems provide structure and humans need that

Theme Of Blindness In King Lear
In King Lear, blindness is more than just the lack of physical sight, but a lack of judgement and
understanding of others true intentions. Much of the suffering in King Lear stems from impetuous
decisions and beliefs. Both King Lear and the Earl of Gloucester were blinded in their own respective
ways. Lear s blindness was more moral, leading to poor decisions that led to suffering, while
Gloucester s blindness was ignorance to his sons true intentions, leading to suffering as well. King
Lear s naivete began at the beginning of the play, as he looked past the true intentions of his daughters
due to his pride. He fails to see that his most beloved daughter, Cordelia, loves him though she will
not play into his selfish and narcissistic behaviour. Out of anger, he disowns her and banishes the loyal
Kent when he defends Cordelia. Lear is blinded by his status as king, treating family difficulties as if
they were kingly matters and having a lack of understanding of others. Even when he realizes that his
treatment of Cordelia was wrong, he refuses to speak to her about it. He is too prideful and would
rather suffer without his daughter than admit he was wrong. This blindness is not limited to his
treatment of Cordelia. He also overlooks the intentions of his older daughters, Regan and Goneril.
When tested on how much they love him, they flatter Lear in order to get his land and power. They
exaggerate their love for him before treating him cruelly as he begins to go insane. Lear had made the
rash decision of giving them his land based on his test of flattery. Lear refuses or lacks the ability to
see the true intentions of his daughters. His blindness to the truth leads to a great amount of suffering.
When he finds that Goneril and Regan had taken advantage of his ignorance, he suffers the feeling of
betrayal. This betrayal, most likely along with his age, leads to his madness. As he wanders outside
during the storm, he raves about his daughters and how they have made him feel as if he is nothing
more than a poor, infirm, weak, and despised old man (3.2.20). Though Lear s madness is tragic, his
eyes are opened to his prior lack of judgement. He sees that Cordelia s honesty differently and he sees
his older

  • 2. Reflective Essay On Fasting I chose fasting as my inward spiritual discipline. I did for more than the class plan was. I started fasting in mid October During Ethiopian orthodox fasting. I abstained from all things a body needs, and must fast from animal products and from any kind of food. I did couple days every week. I would usually Friday and Wednesday. I think it was on the last day of 2 days fast, I felt so good, I felt like my body was filled with God grace. At the end of fasting I tried to meditate but it was hard to concentrate. The hardest part of fasting was talking about it for other people. What if someone offers you food? I was Simply Sayed No, thank you, or I m all set, thanks. If they insist I tried to explain that I am not eating that day. God ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Solitude allows me to see the value of myself in God s image. I sat in solitude wondering how I could forget God s unconditional love for me and my worth that is found in Him. Solitude challenged my relationship with my husband because I often said no to my husband, which caused him to be upset with me and eventually made me feel like a bad person. I said no because I want to experience Solitude. Even if I faced certain challenges while practicing Solitude, I found it was more rewarding than anything spiritual practice. After every hour of Solitude, I felt more refreshed and I could feel the love around me. I became more aware of when I was overwhelmed or needed to take a break from events, socializing, or people. I learned about my limits, and what I can do to improve how much time I can spend in situations that are exhausting or do not reflect God. The most rewarding part of solitude was I always came out of it knowing my worth and that I was created to be here and I had a purpose. I could see who I truly was and how I can live that out, which is something I often struggle with. solitude helped me realize that it s okay if I do not meet the expectations. I finally realized that I can stop trying to be like by everyone else because I was already loved by God. Practicing solitude opened my eyes to how important it is to take care of my soul. The spiritual disciplines I practiced impacted my life ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. A Media Controlled Race Riot A Media Controlled Race Riot The very first thing millions of people do when they wake up is check their phones, and log into whatever social media sites that they are a part of, such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, and many more. On these sites, there are several ads or newspaper articles depicting different political messages or views. These advertisements and news articles can easily influence our thoughts on different aspects of life, such as religious view or racial identity. During the era of the race riot, the people of this time had their own version of media: the newspaper. More often than not, the first thing people did in the morning was read the newspaper. The image that comes to mind is businessmen sitting on trains or families gathered together in the morning reading the newspaper. In 1908, Springfield, Illinois experienced a race riot that was mainly controlled by the opinion they were receiving from the material from the media that they read and viewed. Material that was available to the people of Springfield were newspapers and occasionally plays. A play that was taking place almost a year before a riot was seriously on the minds of Springfield citizens was The Birth of a Nation. A major occurrence that happened almost every time this play was to take place in a northern community was interracial violence in and around the theaters that offered it (Roche pg. 25). • 5. Southpaw Analysis Evaluation of Southpaw One of the most popular movies of 2015 was the sports drama Southpaw. The dramatic R rated movie pulls you in, and makes you fall in love with the characters. Between the magic behind the camera and the actual scenes, Southpaw is a movie that is very well put together. It would be an understatement to say that the actors chosen to play the roles in this film are definitely a good fit. This movie will have you feeling all of the emotions as if you were the character yourself. In my opinion, it is a must see movie. The film is directed by Antoine Fuqua, who has directed tons of successful action filled movies such as Training day, The Equalizer, and Olympus Has Fallen. Fuqua does an outstanding job by using a variety of angles, lighting, and music to intensify certain scenes throughout the movie. The boxing scenes themselves are like being ringside at a real live boxing match. Fuqua made sure to get close up looks on both opponents which shows blood, emotion, and dedication from the boxers. Kurt Sutter was the screenwriter behind the film. Kurt Sutter is the creator of Sons Of Anarchy, a wildly successful dramatic tv series. Overall, the movie would not be the same without this amazing pair. Southpaw is the story of Billy The Great Hope (Jake Gyllenhaal) a short tempered, rough around the edges boxing champion who grew up in Hell s Kitchen Orphanage. He adores his beautiful wife Maureen (Rachel McAdams), who also grew up in Hell s Kitchen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Essay on Growing Up in San Francisco- Personal Narrative Growing Up in San Francisco Personal Narrative Although I was born in Salem, Oregon, my earliest memories are from San Francisco, California. My parents came to California to start over and find a better life. For a while we lived on a bus parked in front of a friend s house. When I was three years old, we moved to Potrero Hill, an area of low income housing projects in the big city. A very famous man, O.J. Simpson, grew up there, but that was before my time. Potrero Hill was a bad neighborhood, so bad that you could not get a pizza delivered there and forget about calling the cops because they would not come. This made the struggle to survive the neighborhood even harder than it was for others. It was a reverse racism I was teased because I am white. Still, it did not make me prejudiced at all. My godmother was black and most of my friends were black. I used to beg my godmother, Deanna, to put my hair in corn rolls, tiny braids with beads on the end. It would take hours and was very painful, but I took the pain in order to fit in. One of my best friends was Theresa, a Vietnamese girl. I ate at her house often and I absolutely loved the food. My favorite was rice soup. We took our shoes off by the door. We sat on the floor at a short table to eat with chopsticks. My other best friend was Michael. He was half white and half black. For that reason, he was often teased and beaten because he was a zebra (that is what the black kids called him). At the time, I was four years old and Michael was seven. Although my mother did not allow me to leave our block, we sneaked out anyway. He showed me the ropes, the ins and outs of ghetto life. He showed me how things worked in the hood the dangerous people to stay away from, like drug dealers, how to get around safely from one neighborhood to another, and the neighborhoods to stay away from. We also played house, dolls, hide and go seek all the childhood games while at the same time managing to learn and adapt to this no nonsense environment. A boy my age lived ... The graph below assumes the data in chart 3 Ticket sales revenue is climbing steadily by Pollstar was quoted in 2008 dollars and includes only the 100 highest grossing tours. Supply/Demand Diagram for Changes in Market for Live Rock Concerts (1998 2008): 5B. Economists use cross elasticity of demand to determine whether two products are substitutes or complements. The cross elasticity of demand measures how quantity demanded of one good (albums) responds to a change in the price for another good (live concert tickets). For example, between 1998 and 2008, sales of albums were down 45%, but over the same period, concert ticket sales revenues more than doubled to $4.2 billion, despite rising rises. Economic profit equals net earnings, in the accountant s sense, minus the opportunity costs of capital and any other inputs supplied by the firm s owners. Bob and Jane s economic profit is different from their accounting profit. Accounting Profit = Total Revenues Total Costs = $8.0 mil $7.4 mil = $.6 mil ($600,000). However, Economic profit = Accounting Profit ($600,000) Opportunity Costs ($360,000) = $240,000. As also discussed in 6B, opportunity costs here include the wages they forfeit to run this business ($300,000), PLUS a normal rate of return on the $600,000 paid up front for advertising (600,000*(.10)) or $60,000. 6B. • 10. Grizzly Man And The Cove Analysis Final Doc Review Grizzly Man and The Cove both share a common, fascinating theme: humans relationship with the wild lives and the nature world. Those interested in research issues regarding organization and management can use the contingency perspective to explain why some factors influence situations in one setting but have virtually no influence in another setting. Indeed, one objective of research within the contingency framework is to specify those dimensions and conditions that do affect a situation and those that do not. For the manager, the requirement from the contingency perspective is to identify which technique will, in a particular situation, best contribute to the attainment of organizational goals. For instance, under some circumstances, an authoritarian leadership style may be more appropriate than a leadership style that tries to get workers internally motivated.tuation. While the contingency approach is useful in recognizing that the complexity involved in understanding human and organizational systems makes it difficult to develop universal principles of management, there have been several criticisms of the approach. But the novel was also partly based on a play Deacon Brodia (1880) which is about a publicly respectable gentleman but privately a thief and rakehell. They may have also have felt that it was encouraging other people to do things considered wrong like. This shows duality between the novel and the behaviour in London during the 19th centaury. The novel also creates a lot of tension as you progress through the text. It rises every time something is discovered in the mystery of Hyde which strengthens it s the detective/mystery genre. • 23. Emotional Intelligence Vs Cognitive Intelligence I believe emotional intelligence stands ahead of cognitive intelligence by a little though latter is equally powerful too. Emotional Intelligence Quotient is defined as a set of competencies demonstrating the ability one has to recognize his or her behaviors, moods, and impulses, and to manage them best according to the situation (Chib, 2012). Traditional cognitive intelligence is the ability to plan, reason, and use logical deduction to solve problems, but also the capability to apply abstract thinking while learning from and responding to the environment ( What is traditional cognitive intelligence? , 2016). Emotional Intelligence is more important simply because it determines how much mentally and psychologically strong and consistent a person is and the very same strength drives us to keep doing things that are in the path of success. Ashforth Humphrey (1995) say that it is a common belief that, when emotions are intertwined with role, performance, or both, they tend to interfere with task achievement. However, to be emotionally intelligent is to be able to let out emotions the right way. When we are able to stay humble during success and determined during failures, patient during anger and calm during frustration, we basically already win. There are three different category of invasive species. The three are category are invasive animal species, invasive fungus species, and last invasive plant species. You can classify invasive plant by seeing if it is from the region or area.Well, an invasive plant has the ability to thrive and spread aggressively outside its natural range. Painter, poet, and essayist, Thomas Cole responded to this quest by creating pristine landscape paintings unlike any yet seen in America. For the purpose of this project, I chose an art piece by Cole called, Landscape, the Seat of Mr. Featherstonhaugh in the Distance created in 1826. The reason I chose this specific painting was because of its diverse context, which allowed me to identify various concepts related to visual perception. The first concept I identify was figure ground segregation. Figure ground segregation refers to the perceptual separation of an object from its background (CITE). That is, the figure being the object that attracts attention and is more memorable than the ground. In the landscape artwork we can see how the cows specially the two closer to us seem to be caught more of our attention than almost anything else in the painting(e.g. the grass). In this painting the cows are the figure that stands out from its ground, which would be the grass. Similarly, we can apply this concept to the big tree on the left side of the cows in the front. The big tree can also be considered to be the figure as it stands out from the grass as well. Further, the trees further down in the painting that seem to form kind of an island can also fall into this category given that the group of tress are standing in the middle of the ground which in this case is the ... However, the end of the war did not mean the end of other forms of government causing geopolitics to still be an issue today. • 31. Examples Of Stereotyping And Prejudice About Stereotyping and Prejudice Prejudice of any kind implies that you are identified with the thinking mind. It means you don t see the other human being anymore, but only your own concept of that human being. To reduce the aliveness of another human being to a concept is already a form of violence. ― Eckhart Tolle, Stillness Speaks (pp. 20) According to wikipedia Social cognition is the encoding, storage, retrieval, and processing, of information about conspecifics (members of the same species) in the social psychology field this is seen as the study on how people make deductions from the stimulus they perceive from the social environment, and how those external clues shape our social interaction with others. In the first article that I decided to review (Staple Noordewier, 2011) they went through a series of correlation and experimental studies concluded that system justification motives result in stereotyping and the motive behind it is the need for structure. They also mention the fact that people who feel part of unjust systems are also more likely to engage in stereotyping and the impact of system justification threat on stereotyping disappears when the desire to justify the system is satisfied through an alternative route. The system justification theory, described in this article, proposes that when people stereotype they aren t just healing or preserving their selves but are instead providing justifications for the social structure they belong to, and their believes that the world is just and legitimate. But why this need for a justification? Simply because systems provide structure and humans need that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Delphinus Research Paper My favorite constellation is Delphinus. I really didn t know much about different constellations so I did some research and found this one. Dolphins have always been one of my favorite animals so I instantly liked it. Delphinus is the latin word for Dolphin, and Delphinus is in the northern sky close to the celestial equator. Delphinus was one of forty eight constellations founded by Ptolemy in the 2nd century. Delphinus is a rather small constellation, ranking 69th biggest out of 88. It is also bordered by Vulpecula, Sagitta, Aquila, Aquarius, Equuleus, and Pegasus. There were two origin stories for the constellation, but I found the first one made more sense and it s Greek. • 35. Theme Of Blindness In King Lear In King Lear, blindness is more than just the lack of physical sight, but a lack of judgement and understanding of others true intentions. Much of the suffering in King Lear stems from impetuous decisions and beliefs. Both King Lear and the Earl of Gloucester were blinded in their own respective ways. Lear s blindness was more moral, leading to poor decisions that led to suffering, while Gloucester s blindness was ignorance to his sons true intentions, leading to suffering as well. King Lear s naivete began at the beginning of the play, as he looked past the true intentions of his daughters due to his pride. He fails to see that his most beloved daughter, Cordelia, loves him though she will not play into his selfish and narcissistic behaviour. Out of anger, he disowns her and banishes the loyal Kent when he defends Cordelia. Lear is blinded by his status as king, treating family difficulties as if they were kingly matters and having a lack of understanding of others. Even when he realizes that his treatment of Cordelia was wrong, he refuses to speak to her about it. He is too prideful and would rather suffer without his daughter than admit he was wrong. This blindness is not limited to his treatment of Cordelia. He also overlooks the intentions of his older daughters, Regan and Goneril. When tested on how much they love him, they flatter Lear in order to get his land and power. They exaggerate their love for him before treating him cruelly as he begins to go insane. Lear had made the rash decision of giving them his land based on his test of flattery. Lear refuses or lacks the ability to see the true intentions of his daughters. His blindness to the truth leads to a great amount of suffering. When he finds that Goneril and Regan had taken advantage of his ignorance, he suffers the feeling of betrayal. This betrayal, most likely along with his age, leads to his madness. As he wanders outside during the storm, he raves about his daughters and how they have made him feel as if he is nothing more than a poor, infirm, weak, and despised old man (3.2.20). Though Lear s madness is tragic, his eyes are opened to his prior lack of judgement. He sees that Cordelia s honesty differently and he sees his older ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She makes me laugh all day! Roberts said about Lea Michele s portrayal of Hester. Literally, there was a scene where she doesn t have any dialogue and she was just standing right here and I would have to look over her head.
