Description Of Celiac Disease
A disease can be described as a pathological process, which presents a set of features that can
influence different parts within the human body. (5) Nowadays there are a huge number of
disorders that have spread around the world. When a disease hits the digestive system it is
considered to be one of the most deadly diseases and some of these diseases are; gastritis, Crohn
s disease, ulcerative colitis, colon cancer and celiac disease. Celiac disease has been the most
common disease in the world these days. However, Celiac disease is a disorder that happens

effects branches from a mucosal inflammation and the disruption of the small intestine s surface

with the disease may not even know they have it, which leaves it untreated and leads them to be
trapped in a risky position of being diagnosed with deadly diseases like cancer; we should therefore

Reflection On Good Life
With help from Socrates, Aristotle, and Mill, we have recently developed many well informed
outlooks on what a good life is capable of looking like. What is your understanding of the good
life? This is an interesting question because the term good life is taken subjectively by many
people. The word good itself means morally excellent, while the word life refers to a living
being. Put the two words together and it becomes more of a decision making process than a
modified and opinionated noun. It is essentially building your foundation as a person, and can
reward you with many benefits. The good life is a series of actions in which you accomplish in
order to make yourself happy, wise, and well cared for in the future. In the text, Selections from
APOLOGY, by Plato, translated by Benjamin Jowett, we learn about Socrates view on the good
life. He taught his philosophy and ways of thinking, to people for free, as he deemed happiness
did not come from material things, like money. Socrates, instead, believed that an active mind is
a happier mind. He was all about thoughtfulness, and questioning everything. He did a lot of self
examination and became completely aware of who he was, and wanted to be in the future. On
page fourteen, Socrates states ... a man who is good for anything ought not to calculate the chance
of living or dying; he ought only to consider whether in doing anything he is doing right or wrong
acting the part of a good man or of a bad. Socrates

Psychological Analysis And Personal Analysis Of A...
In this report, the movie I am going to have psychological analysis and personal reflection is A
Beautiful Mind . This film is a biographical film based on the life story of John Nash, who is a
Nobel Laureate in Economics. The leading role are John Nash and his wife, Alicia Larde. The
narration of John began in his 20s university life, to the start of his career at MIT, and then
diagnoses of paranoid schizophrenia. After a few years, John is given medicine treatment,
experienced progress and relapse. The experience had made himself and his wife frustrated.
Afterwards, John decided not to rely on the medication, but his will to deal with his symptoms.
Meanwhile, he returns to Princeton University and work in the library. The film concludes with
John won the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics for game theory. In the film, each life stage that
John experienced were portrayed detailedly, including the extreme pressure to publish his own
theory; the delusion and hallucination he came across, such as meeting his imaginary roommate
Charles, and accepting an imaginary crack encrypted mission.
The experience that John Nash had in the movie could be analyzed and explained by several
theories about Schizophrenia. In the movie, John was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.
Various behaviors of John accord with the symptoms of this disorder, including delusion and
hallucinations. For example, John saw several people who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Theme Of Love In Frankenstein
Throughout the novel, Frankenstein, many of the characters show the love that they have for each
other. It seemed as though love was one of the main aspects in the book and what seemed to hold
a lot of relationships together. Of course it is known for a mother or a father to love their children,
but just as they lovetheir children, it is understood that they love each other just as much. Just how
Victor loved Elizabeth with what seemed to be every breath he took, and the monster loved Victor
because that was he creator, his father figure. No matter the pain that love may bring, it will
always be one of the main aspects of life.
Earlier in the novel, Victor states, Elizabeth had caught the scarlet fever; but her illness was not
severe, and she quickly recovered. During her confinement, many arguments had been urged to
persuade my mother to refrain from attending upon her. (...), she could no longer debar herself
from society, and entered her chamber longer debar herself from her society, and entered her
chamber long before the danger of the infection was passed. The consequences of this imprudence
were fatal (Shelley, 25). The mother was one of the first to show that the love of a guardian is one
that should be cherished because the actions will show much louder than words. Caroline would
not sleep knowing that her child was sick and the sickness could possibly kill her. The mother had
soon gotten sick, but she was not as fortunate as Elizabeth. A mother s love is a love that

In the high competition of globalization market, it is essential for Tesco to find a good strategies to
compete in the retailing industry. The purpose of this project is to determine the pricing strategy

Tesco which provide the products and services will not success to attract all the people because
differences in needs and wants among people. Therefore Tesco are using the segmented pricing
strategy. Tesco will often adjust their basic prices to allow for differences in customers, products
and location. Tesco are using segmented pricing to sells a product at two or more prices. Even
though the difference of prices is not based on differences in costs. Segmented pricing takes
several form, different customer pay different prices for the same product. It also applied by Tesco
in relation to a wide range of its own brand. By using this strategy, Tesco can attract specific
customer segment that are more concerned with the price of the product or service compared to
other components of the marketing mix. For example, a milk powder with the brand 900gm Dutch
Lady cost RM 25.69 while the brand Fernleaf with the same milk powder with 900gm just cost
about RM 20.99.
The Tesco market are segmenting and effective in showing different degrees of demand. The cost of
segmenting and reaching the market does not exceed the extra revenue obtained from the different

Prohibition Of The Face Of Drug Prohibition Laws
Drugs or Don t? Tied Liberty in the face of Drug Prohibition Laws
Prohibition goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man s appetite by
legislation and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes. A prohibition law strikes a blow at
the very principles upon which our government was founded. Abraham Lincoln
Prohibition is a word for containment; it is an act of limiting and holds a spirit of negation. It limits
our independent and individualist choices. It is not a democratic value unless devised by the
citizens. Prohibiting something on the basis of unsure logistics and deviant arguments is not the
way a democracy thrives. There is a fine line between democracy and authoritarianism. Maybe the
governments today need to realize this fine conception!
Abstract
It has been in our history and we all have suffered through this centered decision making!
Prohibition by the reasons of certain group of elites in the power structure is the major malice of
democracy. Drug Prohibition is one such veiled prophecy/execution that provides a disastrous
outcome. The central argument of my paper is How modern day capitalism in all its variations
offers an explanation (negative) to the entire scenario of drug prohibition? What can be the
benefits of this entire arrangement and who are the major beneficiaries remains a crucial query.
The recent outrage in Philippines, the age old war on Drugs led by the US and the billion dollar

Imagery In Homecoming
If anything is known about war, it progressively gets worse throughout history. The weapons
have become far more powerful, the losses are much greater, and worst of all, soldiers visions of
hell have become a reality. War, centuries ago, seemed to young eager young men as an adventure,
a chance for glory, an honorable way to die; however, these opinions shifted as time went on.
Many if not most of the soldiers today go to warto defend their country, their loved ones, and
everything else they hold dear in the hopes that the battles they fight will one day come to an end

previous camp and move forward. Drunk with fatigue; deaf even to the hoots...Of disappointed

There is a connotation through lines 13 16 where it says, Dim, through the misty panes and

movie are what entice people to go see a movie like this. What most people don t know is that
there is much more to the to the definition of a genrethan just some topic. Every piece of

went viral, more people were excited to see Lebron and his team face the Warriors again. This

making more people excited for the Finals. Small gestures like the one he made are going to
make the turnouts for these games even bigger and most people would have not noticed it if it
were not for this digital artifact. An advertising genre is a genre used to attract people to a topic
and make them come back later to see if more has happened. The use of this genre shows that not
only can the type of genre entertain the viewer, but can also benefit the creator of the piece and
change the outcome of their piece. This shows how genres are very flexible and take many shapes

Ethical Issues In Bhopal, India ( Union Carbide )

Bhopal, India (Union Carbide)
Background and history of the Union Carbide Accident
The Union Carbide Accident occurred in 1984 in Bhopal, India. The incident led to a discharge of
approximately 30 tons of highly poisonous gases, including methyl isocyanate (MIC). The plant
was situated in close proximity to shanty outskirts of the town (Taylor, 2014). Following the
incident, close to six hundred thousand people were exposed to the toxic gas. The effects of the
incident on human health were manifested through nausea, eye and throat burns and eventually,
deaths. In addition, the incident led to retardation of mental development in infants. The average
death toll was reported as 15,000 persons. Today, toxic substances are still evident at the site
(Taylor, 2014).
Ethical Questions or Problems that Came Up
Preliminary investigations point out a fundamentally flawed working environment at the facility.
There was a fundamental departure from the ASCE Canon that requires engineers to hold
paramount the welfare, health and safety of the public ( Code of Ethics, 2016). Simply, the plant was
devoid of adequate operational and safety instruments. The available instruments such as MIC
refrigerators were of poor quality. This affected the operation of the systems components (Taylor,
2014).
The second ethical issue observed was gross negligence by the government to protect public
interest. Even though three separate

What Is The Mood Of She Walks In Beauty
In literature, authors use different stylistic elements to establish their viewpoints on a variety of
topics without directly stating it. Or, they can state it and give descriptive details about their
viewpoint. Lord Byron does this in his poem She Walks In Beauty . Through the uses of details,
diction, and language, Byron is able to create a passionate tone throughout the poem when
describing the beauty of the woman. The beginning of the poem uses a great deal of romantic
details to put emphasis on the beauty of the woman that is described in Byron s poem. The
details used by Byron focuses on the physical features of the woman that make her strikingly
beautiful and stand out to him. For instance, to put emphasis on the beauty of the woman, he
compares her to the night of cloudless climes and starry skies (2 Byron). In addition, he also
describes her raven tress or her hair in other words, and how gracefully it moves and how it s one
of the characteristics that make her beautiful. Moreover, Byron claims that the woman is perfect to

pure and innocent. (11/12 byron) The beauty of her facial expression show how serenely sweet
her thoughts are. In other words, the innocence and purity of the woman is another trait that
makes her beautiful. He also directs the reader s attention on the way her hair or her raven tress

Massage Therapy Essay
Massage Therapy is an alternative medicine practice that involves the use of different types of
strokes that are done with the hands, fingers, forearms, and elbows of a specially trained person.
The strokes are done to manipulate the soft tissues and muscles of one s body in an attempt to

A Study of Outsiders Integrating Into a Puritan Community...
Popular mythology conjures up images of Puritan New England as a pious, homogenous, agrarian
community, a Citty upon a Hill intended to inspire the English homeland to turn to Puritan ways.(1)
However, Puritan New England was more than a collection of small, agrarian communities. The
harbors of New England supported shipping and fishing industries, and abundant timberand ore
supplies inspired the Puritans of North America to pursue a colonial version of the English iron
industry. These new American Ironworks required skilled labor; it was not possible simply to take
the offspring of Puritan farmers and merchants and turn them into iron workers. The experienced,

The Puritans of New England were not renowned for their willingness to accept outsiders into their
communities. According to The book of the general lauus and libertyes concerning the inhabitants
of the Massachusets, individuals, and whole towns, were statutorily prohibited from allowing any
stranger to reside within the jurisdiction for more than three weeks without permission from a
magistrate.(3) As an illustration, in May 1663 John Emery was charged with harboring Quakers,
and also was presented on suspicion of breaking the law in entertaining Mr Greenland four
months. (4) A cursory reading of the Essex court records reveals that Greenland was a doctor who
was singularly unsuccessful in controlling his carnal lust. A more detailed recitation of his exploits
is unnecessary here, but as a stranger to the community, Greenland s behavior made him
undesirable to that community, and the community had an interest in, and took action toward,
securing his removal. In fact, six citizens even went so far as to file an additional suit against
Emery, [f]or breach of a town order of Newbery, in entertaining Mr. Greenland to the great
prejudice of the town. (5) But why would a community that refused to tolerate an amorous
physician extend toleration to a family of rude, profane iron workers? The answer may lie in some
combination of the Leonards relationship to the church and the relative scarcity of the

Historiography The Natural
Historiography Historiography is a historical film theory that focuses on the assumptions,
principles, and methodologies of historical study (Giannetti, 528). Giannetti divides this theoretical
study into four different types of film history: aesthetic, technological, economic, and social.
According to American scholar, Raymond Fielding, the historyof motion pictures as an art form, as
a medium of communication, and as an industry has been determined principally by technological
innovations (Giannetti, 531). With time comes much technological advancement that will allow
filmmakers to accurately portray what they want and give the audiences the intended experience.
Technological advancements have aided in the production of The Rookie and The Natural in the
sense that both films could be shown through a multitude of decadal lenses. Both films show the
main characters in their childhood and how that has shaped who they are, but it also shows them in
adulthood as well. The changes in time range from... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While The Natural contains many attributes from each perspective, the analysis can best be related
to structuralism and semiology. Joseph Campbell mentions a good point while discussing the
function of mythology by saying that, one of the functions of mythology is to guide human spirit
by providing common or universal symbols that offset that darker nature of humans (Wood Pincus,
22). The Natural most certainly follows this function with the underlying network of symbolic
meaning along with its many symbols. Each of the metaphors discussed by Wood and Pincus can
relate to the points previously mentioned in the structuralism/semiology section and their analysis
includes some aspects not previously noted that would further contribute to the underlying
structure, such as the universal

Miss Emily wanted Homer Barron all for herself. It was often seen that Barron lacked affection
towards her, because of his interest in men. He was considered a non marrying man, but this
wasn t enough for Miss Emily. The textual clues indicates, Miss Emily had been to the jeweler s
and ordered a man s toilet seat in silver, with the letters H.B. on each piece, men s clothing, even
a nightshirt. The contextual clues reveal that maybe Miss Emily used the arsenic on Homer
Barron. To hide herself from the authorities, she would, for six months not appear on the streets,
she had grown fat and her hair was turning gray, that was the last we saw of Homer Barron (162).
Essentially, this is foretelling sign something is up. Finally, we see the textual proof of this matter.
Miss Emily had passed away, and residents took it upon themselves to search the home. It was
forty years since they had seen this particular room. the man s toilet things backed with tarnished
silver, among them lay a collar and tie. . .the man himself lay in the bed, what was left of him rotted

nightshirt, the man s toilet things, pinpoint that Homer Barron was the man lying in the bed, not to

John Muir Preservationism
Conserving means to protect (something, especially an environmentally or culturally important
place or thing) from harm or destruction. John Muir, a famous preservationist is someone I agree
with completely, his idea of preservationism is the best way to help our earth. Not damming
Hetch Hetchy Valley was what really drew me into him. He believed that politicians were using
nature as a way to get material gains. Muir believed that nature should be protected and should
be kept beautiful. He states at one point that everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to
play in and pray in where nature may heal and cheer and give strength to body and soul alike.

John believed that turning places into national parks would be a great way to conserve them, this
allows for wild life and plants to be monitored and kept under control. With his great love for the
idea of national parks, came a lot of pro s for the environment. Biodiversity plays an important role
in national parks, biodiversity helps to keep environments clean and healthy for wild life. It allows
for climate regulation, pollination and water purification. Yosemite National Parkwas one of Muir s
creates accomplishments. He first traveled there in 1868 an loved the beauty and scenery so
much that he decided to come back the next year and get a job as a rancher. Soon he became
very concerned about natural landscape preservation. John Muir, being a preservationist, makes
him the most admirable choice because he believed in protecting wild places for the sake of
people and the sake of the well being of the earth. Pinchot, Muir s opposite, believed that
conservation went hand in hand with development and that damming Hetch Hetchy would
improve supplies in San Fransisco. The difference between conservationism and preservationism
is that most times conservation focuses more on the needs of human beings. Preservationism is
more focused on maintaining where the earth is at the time and the areas that are touched by
humans. This idea helps to stop the invasion of human beings taking over open land and making
them into farms and industries for developmental gain. This means that whatever we can
preserve now, we can have in the future. A balance between the two would be difficult because
of how strongly these opposing sides feel about the environment and what should be done in its
best interest. I don t feel that a balance is possible because a lot of times human needs are the
reason for natures destruction such as knocking down forests for paper, and building dams to help
increase a water supply. Not only do these human needs take away

Teens And Gang Violence
About one third of every community experiences some sort of gang violence (Tucker). Although, it
may not directly affect one specific community. It is making a great impact on the new generation.
Gang violence among teens has become more prevalent in today s society. For example, during the
summer of 2017 in Lancaster South Carolina, five teenagers were murdered by other teens in gang
affiliated behaviors. Thus, resulting in imprisonment. The question is how we punish these teens.
Should they receive the death penalty for committing an act of murder? Or should they spend the
rest of their lives in prison with a chance of being released back into society. What is the value of
their lives? Understand they are in the prime of their lives.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Philosopher Michel Foucault s work Discipline and Punish speaks about the changes punishment
and discipline have taken. Punishment has always been used to discourage criminals from unlawful
acts. In the beginning, punishment was aimed at the body through things like corporal punishment.
Now with prison systems in place, the aim is at what Foucault calls the soul . Foucault questions if
these new methods of punishment and discipline are indeed affective.
Commonly the criminals who receive death penalties have committed an act of terrorism, hate
crimes, or murder. There are currently thirty one states in which the death penalty is legalized,
including South Carolina. In the state of South Carolina, by law, a person receives the death
penalty when murder is committed with one of twelve aggravating circumstances. A person who is
convicted of or pleads guilty to murder must be punished by death, or by a mandatory minimum
term of imprisonment for thirty years to life. If the State seeks the death penalty and a statutory
aggravating circumstance is found beyond a reasonable doubt pursuant to subsections (B) and (C),
and a recommendation of death is not made, the trial judge must impose a sentence of life
imprisonment ( Code of Laws ).
The support for and against the death penalty is equally weighted. Those who are for the death
penalty say that it creates both specific and general deterrence. Deterrence is the action of
discouraging an action or event

High Failure Rates On Entrance Exams
Issues related to the early discrepancy in student preparation came from a lack of codified
secondary education in the nineteenth century when students were taught at home or by tutors and
the fact that universities had vastly different opinions on what would be considered college ready.
High failure rates on entrance exams could have been an artifact of the test design or for a way of
the faculty to try and keep students out of the university. There was little consensus on what the
students should know and what the students should have read and be versed in (Brubacher and
Rudy 1976). Also, for all the failed students, the universities rarely enforced their entrance
requirements and were generally lax in their application. There were... Show more content on

Even through the early 20th century, the admissions at prestigious universities like Harvard, Yale,
and Princeton had nearly half of the students failing their college entrance exam (Brubacher Rudy,
1997). To this day, over 80% of universities offer developmental course in some form even though
they have high enough entrance requirements where they should not be necessary.
Terminology A Horse of a Different Color
The terms used to describe underprepared students has changed over the years, but still are used
interchangeably. Remedial is the older term that generally refers to a program of study that is
designed to correct a specific deficiency in a student s academic profile. In the 1970 s, the term
developmental began to be used by practitioners because it encompassed a more positive view of
the total development of the student (Arendale 2005 p.72). Today most practitioners prefer the term
developmental because it more accurately projects what the goals are for the students and does not
have the same negative connotations of the students being deficient. Interestingly, the term remedial
has long carried a negative connotation. Wyatt (1992) recounts the fact that in 1938 Harvard
changed the name of its Remedial Reading course to The Reading Class and the enrollment went
from 30 to 400 annually. The terms used to describe things do matter in the perceptions of those
who are taking them and those who are paying for them. Remediation is still used by

Hence, agencies or groups should consider location when memorializing an event or person and
when constructing a monument because the place can be improper in regards to the history of the
memorial; that is why, with the Holocaust museum, many were outraged because it was going to be
in a location that did little to stop the Holocaust from occurring.
In Source A, it states, communities . . . come together in an act of [viewing] a holy site, [and]
seeing as relic. In context, the article illustrates the magnificence of seeing monuments, for it
offers an . . . experience: a face to face encounter in a specifically valued place. When
memorializing a person or event, and when constructing the monument itself, Source A clearly
demonstrates that the location is similar to observing a holy site, or a relic. The place is
incredibly important when considering memorializing something, for merely making a trip to the
memorial is extraordinary, and incredible to encounter . . . in a specifically valued place. To
reword, location is a factor of memorializing an event or person and when constructing the
monument that should be considered because it amplifies the experience, for the author of Source
A conveys it to be like [viewing] a holy site, and seeing a relic in a valued place.
Another reason why location should be considered when memorializing an event or person, and
when constructing the monument, is because location is critical for the monument s

A Personal Leadership Philosophy
The path to a personal leadership philosophy is made up of three parts. Each individual aspect is a
facet of a complete whole. Much like a timeline that includes a past present and future, my personal
philosophy consists of a foundation, action, and growth. If you do not understand where your
foundation of leadershipcame from you will have problems acting in a leadership capacity. Also if
don t pay attention to how you are acting as a leader you cannot know in what ways you need to
grow. Why should I spend the time and effort in developing myself as a leader? The Gunner s
Mate rating has a strength of just over 600 members. Maritime Force Protection Unit Kings Bay
has 31 Gunner s Mates assigned to it. I have a full five percent of the Gunner s Mates in the
Coast Guard that I lead. During my four year assignment at MFPU Kings Bay approximately 55
Gunner s mates (9.2 percent) will have been under my leadership. I see that as an enormous
responsibility. As a young Gunner s Mate I saw my senior leadership as people capable of
effecting great change on the rating. Now today I am in the position to have that same impact.
2.The foundation of my leadership philosophy is anchored by a few key influences. The two I

Attempts To Unify The English Colonies
During the colonial period, various attempts to unite the English colonies occurred. Issues arose
with the promotion of unity similar to any other instances in history. The colonies desperately
searched for ways they could have a more organized government, which could help them to protect
themselves against attacks from foreign nations. This urge to find ways to build the strength of the
colonies was directly related to the numerous taxes enforced on them by Britain. These taxes were a
form of compensation for a previous representation from Britain in the French and Indian War. The
interest in the establishment of unity in the colonies brought up various conversations which led to

Advantages And Disadvantages Of A Beard
Growing a beard is something every boy looks forward to. The prospect of standing in front of a
mirror and trimming it into whatever shape you like is priceless. But not everyone ends up with
a smoothly shaven face. For some people, shaving becomes a daily nightmare. There are several
ways you can trim your beard. You could either use a simple pair of scissors, a regular razor or a
beard trimmer. With scissors, you will take more time and might end up with an uneven looking
beard. And if you opt for a razor, you are at high risk of getting razor burns or cuts. If you are
looking for a perfectly clean trim, then a trimming machine is the best choice. Simply because with
it, you will never suffer razor burn or cuts and nicks. There are lots of beard trimmers out there but
none is better than the Panasonic ER224S.

for writing this year. I joined one company in January, one in February, the third in March. They
are all considered content farms . The first two companies work relatively the same, the third is a
bit different in that it it pays in lifetime royalties. I have only wrote five articles for the third
company. They have the most astringent requirements and their articles are all 500 words, in third
person, and require writers to provide sources in the footnotes. The first two companies have you

A Comparison Of Identity In Cal s And Anthea
Identity can be defined in many different ways, for example how you dress, or simply how you
as an individual view yourself. Many people in the world we live in struggle heavily with finding
out who they truly are as an individual, due to many contributing factors. Family, friends, and the
society and what they view as normal and different can make or break a personand their view of
themselves and their identity. These instances can be seen in both Cal s and Anthea s stories and the
struggles they both encounter going through life and realizing who they are as individuals, not only
that but what is seen throughout their stories that are similar but also different. In Ali Smith s Girl

that was her sister Midge who was the more conservative sister, while Anthea is the more open

Anthea as a person never had any sort of control from her family that made her have to grow out

went missing at sea early on in the novel, which deeply contradicts how Anthea and Cal s stories

Analysis Of Jazz Ensemble Concert
On October 26, 2017, in the Laidlaw Performing Arts Center Recital Hall at the University of
South Alabama, there was Jazz Ensemble Concert directed by Tracy Heavner. The night was
filled with the rhythmic groove of jazz. By writing this report I hope to show you, the reader, a new
perspective of Jazz Music. The first piece, Lady Bird, by Tadd Dameron was written in 1939. The
JazzEnsemble began the piece by putting their full hearts in it. By using repetition of the melody in
the saxophones and clarinets it helps the ensemble build suspense. Once the tenor saxophonecomes
in with a solo, the performer runs through chromatic scales smoothly. The ensemble continues
with the melody leading to a heavy melody held in the trumpets until an alto saxophone comes in
and takes the melody away. The rest of the ensemble holds the countermelody that compliments
the alto saxophone well. The alto saxophone passes the melody to the piano where then it was
passed to a trombone. This piece took one melody and bounces it all around the ensemble to
show off different performers abilities with their instruments. The second piece, Makin Whoopee,
by Gus Kahn and Walter Donaldson was written in 1928. This piece was made famous by Eddie
Cantor. This piece adds suspense in the low brass with a repeating melody in the woodwinds. A
trombone comes out in a solo with a slow tempo and a low dynamic making the sound very legato.
By placing a mute in a trumpetthis piece of music ended with an edgy

My Mother
At the request of this prompt (A), I have concluded that the person whom I truly admire, whom I
am most inspired as well as most influenced by is ultimately my Mother. I came to this
conclusion as my Mother represents an immense purpose, that strength and beauty can arise
from struggles, that one in hard times can arise to succeed. My Mother s life story symbolizes
one of many morals and life learning themes that it was her struggle and hardships that gave her
beauty. My mother had experienced a lot of difficulties in the process of growing up, either due
to her polish or American experience. Yet my mother s story exclaims that if she hadn t
experienced a life in vain, then she would not have been the person she is today. My Mother had
shown me that hardships and struggles ultimately make you whom you are, as I must face and
look past turbulence and obstacles, which block me from the light and success. I, Giovanni Dama,
believe that my mother is whom I truly admire above many. I in firmly intend to follow my mother
s ideals and her attitude of strength and glory, to never give up in any scenario, no matter what
challenges I must reach and be greater than. My mother, Anna Dama, had experienced a path of
hardships as my mother came to America for hope and opportunity. My mother had migrated to the
united statesof America as her father and siblings have already done so. Yet, my had came here tan
age of 20 years old, making the relocation to America an ultimate challenge.

Childhood And Going Into Adult Hood
Attachment is defined as affection, fondness or sympathy for someone or something.
There have been different researchers and various types of research that has been done over the
years to try and uncover the mystery that what happens in the first few years of your life will
determine what happens in the later stages on childhood and going into adult hood. Research into
the subject of insecure attachment sparked an interest in the world of psychology in 1948 with the
research John Bowlby did on maternal attachment. Bowlby interviewed 44 juvenile thieves who

Another psychologist who has had major input in the subject of attachment is Spitz and Wolf
(1946). Spitz and Wolf (1946) studied 91 orphanage infants in USA and Canada (3) , what they
found amazed the world of attachment. They found that despite getting better care and maintaining
adequate health many had died before their first birthday. This and Bowlby s research lends a hand
in understanding attachment and both complement each other in facts. Seen as Bowlby was
researching about the critical stage in development the research that Spitz and Wolf did also proves
that.
This is because both of the infants were apart from a proper caregiver during this stage and this
effected their later development unfortunately for a third of Spitz and wolfs participants the latter
development never happened. There is an issue with both of these studies and it is in the time of
which they were doing their research.

Analysis Of Bullet In The Brain By Tobias Wolff
The short story Bullet in the Brain by Tobias Wolff brings the reader to the attention of how one s
life can be influenced by something as timid as a word (Von Ancken). In this story, a protagonist is
a man by the name of Anders, who is a book critic. The story starts with Anders arriving at the bank
just before it closes. The line is really long and he is stuck in line with two loud ladies who drive
him crazy with their stupid conversation. He is characterized as, weary, elegant savagery with
which he dispatched almost everything he reviewed (Wolff). He is also portrayed as a man who
is miserable and constantly criticizing his surroundings. Even as he waits in the line at the bank,
his sarcastic comments do not stop to represent his perspective of his disappointment of the world.
When one of the tellers closed her window, Anders conveys a hatred towards the teller s action by
stating, Damned unfair, he said. Tragic, really. If they re not chopping off the wrong leg, or
bombing your ancestral village, they re closing their positions (Wolff). When reading the story, it
was difficult to determine whether Anders had sympathy towards anything in life as he argues and
makes sarcastic remarks to the ladies. However, when the short storywas viewed as a film, it was
learned that Anders was a character that had sympathy towards life. Unlike the written story, the
film starts with Anders in a classroom lecturing his students. The difference in the beginning of the

Victim Impact Statement Pros And Cons
Victim Impact statements (VIS) give the person or family the chance to state how they feel about
the offender and the acts that they committed. VIS can challenge the 8th amendment; however it
helps the jury to make a decision on if the person should get life or the death penalty. Most victim
statements are not all negative. The victim gets the chance to let the accused understand the hurt
that they cause the family or them. Consequently depending on the criminal they may or may not
care. The writer will report on what they believe to be the purpose and reasoning behind victim and
execution impact statements. The question is why is there so much controversy surrounding the
use of victim impact statements during trial? The writer will address the issues that make some

Beginners Film Techniques
The movie Beginners was a comical yet gloomy movie drama. Comical and depressed doesn t
seem like words to describe a film but it was balanced. It was in a way painful to watch since from
the beginning the audience would know what was going to happen. There are various elements that
made this film an interesting disheartening comedydrama. Throughout the filmthe shot (lighting,
costume, and set design) set the whole experience. To some the shot and camerawork and the
number one priority but lack the action and dialogue and the proper actors, but beginners seemed
to have a balance, much like other films. The lighting throughout the film seemed to fit the mood
for example, during some scenes the shot looked smoky or cloudy, but never dark and in scenes
with Hal the sun seemed to shine every time he was in the shot, and when he was happy. Another
important element in the shot is costume, and it plays a major role because the way someone is
dressed helps people understand them better. The costumes fit each character, and although the
costumes were simple they played a role in understating the character. Lastly the set design in the
film was remarkable. The director... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although it had flashbacks that may have confused some, but the movie flowed smoothly, and
didn t reveal some things prematurely. For example we knew the father was going to die but didn
t know exactly when or exactly how. In order for a film to succeed and receive great reviews like
beginners it must keep the audience hooked from the moment it begins and Mike Mills and the
actors achieved that. Although the audience knew there was going to be a sad ending the action
and dialogue seemed to keep the audience interested. During the film the dialogue revealed a lot
about the characters and what was going on in their life and mind. It showed how Oliver was in the

Analysis Of Shakespeare s Taming Of The Shrew
Courtney Hoffhine

Ms. Howard
08.04 Writing about Relevance
When love speaks the voice of all the gods makes heaven drowsy with the harmony, Taming of the
Shrew, Act IV, scene II.
Besides being a well written play, the comedic devices that each act holds is used to help develop
the plot and the comedy effect of The Taming of the Shrew. The devices used has shown the
audience how the shrew could be changed by receiving the same treatment it has been giving.
Shakespeare used comedic devices to help keep the audience focused on the story and keep them
guessing to what Petruchio was going to do to make Katharina tame. The plot becomes developed
when certain events with family drama, quick witted language, and unexpected scenarios that take
place to create plot twists that no one can foreshadow. All of the materials used above shape a story
of how a woman changes dramatically with the help of one man who she undoubted calls her
husband without any choice of decision.
Who doesn t love some family drama in a movie or ever a play, Shakespeare I known to
coordinate some family drama in a majority of his play writes. In the Taming of the Shrew he
used the comedic device of family drama to kick of the plot and give some structure to this story.
At this point Katharina hasn t had the best of luck at finding a suitable man to take her hand in
holy matrimony but to be fair no man wants to even call her their wife. Katharina s younger sister

The Theory Of Attachment Theory Essay
B1/A2/A*1 John Bowlby s attachment theory is a positive aspect to this transition as the child are
likely to gain secure attachments with their key worker which enables them to work closely with
each other, this then allows the child to be more comfortable with any support they receive
throughout the process, however the child may become too attached to their key worker and may
face issues later when the times comes for them to separate therefore it is important for children to
spend time with other members of staff. Children can be attached to other practitioners other than
their key worker so it is important for both to communicate to ensure that the key worker knows
everything about the child and keep on track with any paperwork they have to complete about the
child and keep track of the child s progress and development. I think that Bowlby attachment theory
is important within this transition as the child going into care needs a secure attachment to
someone as the attachment to their parents will be disrupted and the child needs someone for
support especially a child of this age. The child can make an attachment to their foster carer
however this also may be difficult if the child is in temporary foster care and are removed from
care, this may cause the child distress as all the attachments they have made are being disrupted.
There are many criticism of Bowlby s theory, one of these are that Bowlby believed that Bowlby
suggested that a child would initially form only

Robert Rauschenberg s Almanac Essay
Robert Rauschenberg s Almanac
Born on October 22nd 1925 in the oil refining city of Port Arthur, Texas neГЁ Milton Ernest
Rauschenberg, he later renamed himself Robert after his Grandfather. Rauschenbergs father was
one of the many blue coloured workers in the oil refineries whilst his mother worked as a
telephone operator. He first studied art during his final years at high school but this was quickly
cut short when in 1943 he entered the local University of Texas to study Physics only to be
expelled in his first year due to learning difficulties, dyslexia, which was then not recognised and
so from there he entered into military service with the navy for one year working in the hospitals
as he did not want to kill anyone and here ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was one of the first artists to experiment with blueprint paper in the early fifties, and then he
began to incorporate the everyday found objects and daily media images from the press, he
wanted to act in the gap between art and life and found mediums that best did that for him whether
it be photographs, (he often would have a camera on him and built up an extensive library of
images from his travels through life), magazine clippings, junk, found used objects or images from
history books.
The Dada movement formed during the First World War clearly affected Robert s work; they
promoted the use of collage and assemblage, in particular artists such as Kurt Schwitters and
Hannah Hoch as well as artists of the movement such as Man Ray being the first to adopt
photographic materials for artistic purposes. Dadaists broke down the boundaries between art and
everyday life, for they were concerned with provoking the public into reacting to their activities
and Rauschenberg too did not want to create enduring masterpieces for an elite but to further a
perpetual process of discovery in which everyone could participate
It was in 1962 that Rauschenberg picked up the silk screening process and both he and Andy
Warhol explored this new technique together.
The process for Almanac would consist of him enlarging his chosen images onto the photosensitive
silk screens, which he would then lay on top of the canvas and force the black viscous

World War 1 Propaganda Poster Analysis
INTRO In the era of World War I, you had two very important choices, to fight for your Country,
or to to die with it. This essay will be expressing my opinions on the three main points of the
Propaganda poster, Will you fight now that proves it is the most persuasive poster of the era.
First, the use of scare tactics present throughout the poster was used to persuade and sway the
men of America to enlist. Second, the use of the burning barn was more than just a scare tactic, it
represents America under German invasion that was very possible if the men back home did not
enlist. Finally, the use of a family being executed by German foot soldiers is set in the headland of
America, shown by the man being pinned against a grain silo about to be executed by the German
invaders.
BODY 1 In the propaganda poster from World War I, it shows a horrifying scene of German huns,
armed to the teeth and prepared to strike on American citizens in the heartland as indicated by the
grain silos and burning barn in the background. The burning barn and ... Show more content on

Firstly, the poster, If I Fail He Dies persuades women nurses to come to the front lines and help
take care of our wounded soldiers. Second, The Call to Duty is a propaganda poster that shows a
man blowing a trumpet, sounded the Call to Duty for men to enlist and fight for their home.
Third, The Navy Needs You! depicts an angel over a Navy sailor with the words Don t read
American History make it! telling the reader to stop just reading about the fight and go become a
hero yourself. Finally, Enlist shows a very well dressed and most likely rich man standing inside
and alone while the Military Marches off to war, persuading rich men to enlist. My propaganda
poster is more persuasive due to the fact that it is the only one that appeals to the whole spectrum of

  • 3. Reflection On Good Life With help from Socrates, Aristotle, and Mill, we have recently developed many well informed outlooks on what a good life is capable of looking like. What is your understanding of the good life? This is an interesting question because the term good life is taken subjectively by many people. The word good itself means morally excellent, while the word life refers to a living being. Put the two words together and it becomes more of a decision making process than a modified and opinionated noun. It is essentially building your foundation as a person, and can reward you with many benefits. The good life is a series of actions in which you accomplish in order to make yourself happy, wise, and well cared for in the future. In the text, Selections from APOLOGY, by Plato, translated by Benjamin Jowett, we learn about Socrates view on the good life. He taught his philosophy and ways of thinking, to people for free, as he deemed happiness did not come from material things, like money. Socrates, instead, believed that an active mind is a happier mind. He was all about thoughtfulness, and questioning everything. He did a lot of self examination and became completely aware of who he was, and wanted to be in the future. On page fourteen, Socrates states ... a man who is good for anything ought not to calculate the chance of living or dying; he ought only to consider whether in doing anything he is doing right or wrong acting the part of a good man or of a bad. It seemed as though love was one of the main aspects in the book and what seemed to hold a lot of relationships together. Of course it is known for a mother or a father to love their children, but just as they lovetheir children, it is understood that they love each other just as much. Just how Victor loved Elizabeth with what seemed to be every breath he took, and the monster loved Victor because that was he creator, his father figure. No matter the pain that love may bring, it will always be one of the main aspects of life. Tied Liberty in the face of Drug Prohibition Laws Prohibition goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man s appetite by legislation and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes. A prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded. Abraham Lincoln Prohibition is a word for containment; it is an act of limiting and holds a spirit of negation. It limits our independent and individualist choices. It is not a democratic value unless devised by the citizens. Prohibiting something on the basis of unsure logistics and deviant arguments is not the way a democracy thrives. There is a fine line between democracy and authoritarianism. Maybe the governments today need to realize this fine conception! The incident led to a discharge of approximately 30 tons of highly poisonous gases, including methyl isocyanate (MIC). The plant was situated in close proximity to shanty outskirts of the town (Taylor, 2014). Following the incident, close to six hundred thousand people were exposed to the toxic gas. The effects of the incident on human health were manifested through nausea, eye and throat burns and eventually, deaths. In addition, the incident led to retardation of mental development in infants. The average death toll was reported as 15,000 persons. Today, toxic substances are still evident at the site (Taylor, 2014). Ethical Questions or Problems that Came Up Preliminary investigations point out a fundamentally flawed working environment at the facility. The beginning of the poem uses a great deal of romantic details to put emphasis on the beauty of the woman that is described in Byron s poem. The harbors of New England supported shipping and fishing industries, and abundant timberand ore supplies inspired the Puritans of North America to pursue a colonial version of the English iron industry. Giannetti divides this theoretical study into four different types of film history: aesthetic, technological, economic, and social. According to American scholar, Raymond Fielding, the historyof motion pictures as an art form, as a medium of communication, and as an industry has been determined principally by technological innovations (Giannetti, 531). With time comes much technological advancement that will allow filmmakers to accurately portray what they want and give the audiences the intended experience. Technological advancements have aided in the production of The Rookie and The Natural in the sense that both films could be shown through a multitude of decadal lenses. Yosemite National Parkwas one of Muir s creates accomplishments. Soon he became very concerned about natural landscape preservation. John Muir, being a preservationist, makes him the most admirable choice because he believed in protecting wild places for the sake of people and the sake of the well being of the earth. Pinchot, Muir s opposite, believed that conservation went hand in hand with development and that damming Hetch Hetchy would improve supplies in San Fransisco. The difference between conservationism and preservationism is that most times conservation focuses more on the needs of human beings. Preservationism is more focused on maintaining where the earth is at the time and the areas that are touched by humans. This idea helps to stop the invasion of human beings taking over open land and making them into farms and industries for developmental gain. This means that whatever we can preserve now, we can have in the future. Terminology A Horse of a Different Color The terms used to describe underprepared students has changed over the years, but still are used interchangeably. Remedial is the older term that generally refers to a program of study that is designed to correct a specific deficiency in a student s academic profile. In the 1970 s, the term developmental began to be used by practitioners because it encompassed a more positive view of the total development of the student (Arendale 2005 p.72). Today most practitioners prefer the term developmental because it more accurately projects what the goals are for the students and does not have the same negative connotations of the students being deficient. Interestingly, the term remedial has long carried a negative connotation. Wyatt (1992) recounts the fact that in 1938 Harvard changed the name of its Remedial Reading course to The Reading Class and the enrollment went from 30 to 400 annually. The first two companies work relatively the same, the third is a bit different in that it it pays in lifetime royalties. I have only wrote five articles for the third company. They have the most astringent requirements and their articles are all 500 words, in third person, and require writers to provide sources in the footnotes. Many people in the world we live in struggle heavily with finding out who they truly are as an individual, due to many contributing factors. Family, friends, and the society and what they view as normal and different can make or break a personand their view of themselves and their identity. These instances can be seen in both Cal s and Anthea s stories and the struggles they both encounter going through life and realizing who they are as individuals, not only that but what is seen throughout their stories that are similar but also different. The only person in Anthea s life that cared about that was her sister Midge who was the more conservative sister, while Anthea is the more open minded sister who does what she wishes and fails to let what others think effect her choices and decisions in life. Looking at how Anthea transcended her familial control is different than Cal s, Anthea as a person never had any sort of control from her family that made her have to grow out of what they were pushing on to her. She and her sister only ever had their grandparents which went missing at sea early on in the novel, which deeply contradicts how Anthea and Cal s stories are no where near the same. Analysis Of Jazz Ensemble Concert On October 26, 2017, in the Laidlaw Performing Arts Center Recital Hall at the University of South Alabama, there was Jazz Ensemble Concert directed by Tracy Heavner. The night was filled with the rhythmic groove of jazz. By writing this report I hope to show you, the reader, a new perspective of Jazz Music. The first piece, Lady Bird, by Tadd Dameron was written in 1939. The JazzEnsemble began the piece by putting their full hearts in it. By using repetition of the melody in the saxophones and clarinets it helps the ensemble build suspense. Once the tenor saxophonecomes in with a solo, the performer runs through chromatic scales smoothly. The ensemble continues with the melody leading to a heavy melody held in the trumpets until an alto saxophone comes in and takes the melody away. The rest of the ensemble holds the countermelody that compliments the alto saxophone well. The alto saxophone passes the melody to the piano where then it was passed to a trombone. This piece took one melody and bounces it all around the ensemble to show off different performers abilities with their instruments. The second piece, Makin Whoopee, by Gus Kahn and Walter Donaldson was written in 1928. This piece was made famous by Eddie Cantor. This piece adds suspense in the low brass with a repeating melody in the woodwinds. A trombone comes out in a solo with a slow tempo and a low dynamic making the sound very legato. By placing a mute in a trumpetthis piece of music ended with an edgy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I came to this conclusion as my Mother represents an immense purpose, that strength and beauty can arise from struggles, that one in hard times can arise to succeed. My Mother s life story symbolizes one of many morals and life learning themes that it was her struggle and hardships that gave her beauty. My mother had experienced a lot of difficulties in the process of growing up, either due to her polish or American experience. Yet my mother s story exclaims that if she hadn t experienced a life in vain, then she would not have been the person she is today. My Mother had shown me that hardships and struggles ultimately make you whom you are, as I must face and look past turbulence and obstacles, which block me from the light and success. I, Giovanni Dama, believe that my mother is whom I truly admire above many. I in firmly intend to follow my mother s ideals and her attitude of strength and glory, to never give up in any scenario, no matter what challenges I must reach and be greater than. My mother, Anna Dama, had experienced a path of hardships as my mother came to America for hope and opportunity. There have been different researchers and various types of research that has been done over the years to try and uncover the mystery that what happens in the first few years of your life will determine what happens in the later stages on childhood and going into adult hood. Research into the subject of insecure attachment sparked an interest in the world of psychology in 1948 with the research John Bowlby did on maternal attachment. Another psychologist who has had major input in the subject of attachment is Spitz and Wolf (1946). Spitz and Wolf (1946) studied 91 orphanage infants in USA and Canada (3) , what they found amazed the world of attachment. They found that despite getting better care and maintaining adequate health many had died before their first birthday. This and Bowlby s research lends a hand in understanding attachment and both complement each other in facts. Seen as Bowlby was researching about the critical stage in development the research that Spitz and Wolf did also proves that. This is because both of the infants were apart from a proper caregiver during this stage and this effected their later development unfortunately for a third of Spitz and wolfs participants the latter development never happened. There is an issue with both of these studies and it is in the time of which they were doing their research. Analysis Of Bullet In The Brain By Tobias Wolff The short story Bullet in the Brain by Tobias Wolff brings the reader to the attention of how one s life can be influenced by something as timid as a word (Von Ancken). In this story, a protagonist is a man by the name of Anders, who is a book critic. The story starts with Anders arriving at the bank just before it closes. The line is really long and he is stuck in line with two loud ladies who drive him crazy with their stupid conversation. He is characterized as, weary, elegant savagery with which he dispatched almost everything he reviewed (Wolff). He is also portrayed as a man who is miserable and constantly criticizing his surroundings. Even as he waits in the line at the bank, his sarcastic comments do not stop to represent his perspective of his disappointment of the world. When one of the tellers closed her window, Anders conveys a hatred towards the teller s action by stating, Damned unfair, he said. Tragic, really. If they re not chopping off the wrong leg, or bombing your ancestral village, they re closing their positions (Wolff). When reading the story, it was difficult to determine whether Anders had sympathy towards anything in life as he argues and makes sarcastic remarks to the ladies. It was in a way painful to watch since from the beginning the audience would know what was going to happen. There are various elements that made this film an interesting disheartening comedydrama. Throughout the filmthe shot (lighting, costume, and set design) set the whole experience. To some the shot and camerawork and the number one priority but lack the action and dialogue and the proper actors, but beginners seemed to have a balance, much like other films. The lighting throughout the film seemed to fit the mood for example, during some scenes the shot looked smoky or cloudy, but never dark and in scenes with Hal the sun seemed to shine every time he was in the shot, and when he was happy. Another important element in the shot is costume, and it plays a major role because the way someone is dressed helps people understand them better. • 44. The Theory Of Attachment Theory Essay B1/A2/A*1 John Bowlby s attachment theory is a positive aspect to this transition as the child are likely to gain secure attachments with their key worker which enables them to work closely with each other, this then allows the child to be more comfortable with any support they receive throughout the process, however the child may become too attached to their key worker and may face issues later when the times comes for them to separate therefore it is important for children to spend time with other members of staff. Children can be attached to other practitioners other than their key worker so it is important for both to communicate to ensure that the key worker knows everything about the child and keep on track with any paperwork they have to complete about the child and keep track of the child s progress and development. I think that Bowlby attachment theory is important within this transition as the child going into care needs a secure attachment to someone as the attachment to their parents will be disrupted and the child needs someone for support especially a child of this age. The child can make an attachment to their foster carer however this also may be difficult if the child is in temporary foster care and are removed from care, this may cause the child distress as all the attachments they have made are being disrupted. There are many criticism of Bowlby s theory, one of these are that Bowlby believed that Bowlby suggested that a child would initially form only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Dada movement formed during the First World War clearly affected Robert s work; they promoted the use of collage and assemblage, in particular artists such as Kurt Schwitters and Hannah Hoch as well as artists of the movement such as Man Ray being the first to adopt photographic materials for artistic purposes. Dadaists broke down the boundaries between art and everyday life, for they were concerned with provoking the public into reacting to their activities and Rauschenberg too did not want to create enduring masterpieces for an elite but to further a perpetual process of discovery in which everyone could participate It was in 1962 that Rauschenberg picked up the silk screening process and both he and Andy Warhol explored this new technique together.
