The Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, was a large marble temple located near the city of Ephesus in present-day Turkey. It was dedicated to the goddess Artemis and measured around 115 meters long and 55 meters wide, making it three times the size of the Parthenon. The temple housed many fine artworks and sculptures and had 127 Ionic columns that were each 17.5 meters tall. Though only ruins remain today, it was an important religious site that attracted thousands of pilgrims from across Asia Minor.
