• Ancient Greek Architecture
The Temple of Hera I at Paestum (Italy), also known
as the Basilica, is an archaic Doric temple constructed
ca. 550 BCE. The temple is peripteral with 9×18
columns. The temple was a part of a larger enclosed
sanctuary to Hera, a Heraion, that also encompassed
the later Temple of Hera II.

• The Siphnian Treasury was a building at the Ancient
Greek cult centre of Delphi, erected to host the
offerings of the polis, or city-state, of Siphnos.

• The ruins of the archaeological site of Ancient
Delphi include the Sanctuary of Apollo which was
sacred to the god Apollo because according to
Greek mythology, it was on Mt Parnassus at Delphi
that Apollo slew the serpent 'Python'

• The Agora was the heart of Athens and is no doubt,
the best-preserved site from ancient Greece that
still exists. The space was the centre of Greek life,
not only as a marketplace, but an important space
that focused on government, religious activities,
commercial, as well as served for being the seat of
justice.
400 BC Temple of Athena Pronaia,
Delphi
• The sanctuary of Athena Pronaia is located roughly
half mile from the main buildings at Delphi located
on the terrace. The shrine was originally built at the
gateway to Delphi and dedicated to the goddess
Athena because it was her duty to protect her half
brother Apollo.

• At a maximum capacity of 13,000 to 14,000
spectators, the theatre hosted music, singing and
dramatic games that were included in the worship
of Asclepius. It was also used as a means to heal
patients, since there was a belief that the
observation of dramatic shows had positive effects
on mental and physical health.
AD 132 Temple of the Olympian
Zeus, Athens
• The Temple of Olympian Zeus, also known as the
Olympieion, was built between 174 and 132 BC in
Athens. It was one of the largest temples ever built
in the ancient world, measuring 115 by 110 meters.
The temple was dedicated to Zeus, the king of the
gods in Greek mythology.
