Filming: Tips and tricks
Within our adverts we would
like to incorporate a wide
range of different camera
movements. We want to be
able to fully show the clothing
the model is wearing and make
the advert visually stimulating
to watch. This is because our
audience are young fox
thinkers we need to make sure
that they are entertained
throughout to make sure that
they pay attention.
Filming; tips and tricks
We want to have tracking shots
within our advert to show the
model moving in the clothing. This
will show that audience different
angles of the clothing we ell as a
brand. Giving them the information
they need visually.
To create the tracking
shots we will use a dolly,
this attaches to the
bottom of the tripod, this
will allow us to move the
camera freely without the
handheld look.
Continued,
By having
different angles
in a shot will
allow you as the
director to put
across different
emotions. As we
are creating a
advertisement,
we wont be
using the Dutch
angle.
We will use angles which
will show the outfits off. For
the night video we will use
up close intense shots and
have tracking forward.
Before you begin filming
anything you need to make
sure you know what you
need to film. This is why
story boards are created to
make sure that you know
what order you need to
film in, what shot type it is,
the camera
angle/movement. This will
make the process of filming
smoother and quicker. This
will also allow you to show
the model, actors the
composition of what they
have to do.
Make sure that you have more than one take of a shot. This will allow you to have shots to choose from and pick the best one. If
there is a mistake in the shot and you have only one take of it, it would mean that you would either 1) go back, re film and waste
editing time, or 2) cut the shot completely and try to find something to replace it. Its better to have too many shots of something,
rather than one shot.
Lighting
As we will be filing outside
for one of the adverts, we
need to make sure that
we have the lighting
perfected. This will mean
they will have to be warm
shots, the white balance
will be manually adapted
and changed by us on the
camera. When we are
filming out side we need
to make sure that we are
taking multiple shots of
the model, this means
that if the lighting changes
throughout the day that
we will have takes to
choose from.
As we are shooting
out side we will have
to film the outside
shots over two days,
this will mea that will
will the receive
consistent lighting for
the re-films. To help
with the lighting we
can use reflectors
which will help control
the lighting more.
Lighting
When shooting our
model we need to make
sure that we don’t make
her look flat. This will be
most important when we
are shooting our night
time advert. This is
because we will be
needing to use spot lights
on the model because we
want to shoot at night.
This means we will have
to have had practice with
the spot lights. We have
used spot lights within
out GCSE and AS media
course work. But we have
also created prototype
adverts to get more
practice with lighting
editing, using models,
camera movements and
shot types.
White balance
We need to make sure that
when we are filming we
want to fix the white
balance manually. This
means that we will have full
control and there will be
continuity with the shots.
We will want the day time
advert to look warm and
summery, this means that
we need to correct the
white balance to make sure
that it looks like this. We
want the shots to look
warm like the picture on the
right. We need to capture
the true colors of our
location.
Post production
Before we begin to cut
and edit all of the clips
we need to make sure
that they are all in
order and everything
runs correctly. By
placing them in order
it will allow us to look
at the order of the
clips and if there are
too many of one type
of shot. This will allow
us to look and see
which clips are the
most important to the
marketing campaign
and which ones we
need to re-film.
Post filming
We need to make
sure that our video
isn't over visually
stimulating. We want
to keep our videos
simple and ‘clean’.
We want to feature
the mirror effect as
this will give our
marketing campaign
a noticeable effect
when people watch it
and will begin to
recognize the
campaign. By having
too many effects it
will make our brand
look cheap.
For our background
music we have
chosen urban up
beat music. By
having current up to
date music will allow
people to enjoy
watch the advert as
they will get
entertainment out
of the adverts.

Technical research

  • 2. Filming: Tips and tricks Within our adverts we would like to incorporate a wide range of different camera movements. We want to be able to fully show the clothing the model is wearing and make the advert visually stimulating to watch. This is because our audience are young fox thinkers we need to make sure that they are entertained throughout to make sure that they pay attention.
  • 3. Filming; tips and tricks We want to have tracking shots within our advert to show the model moving in the clothing. This will show that audience different angles of the clothing we ell as a brand. Giving them the information they need visually. To create the tracking shots we will use a dolly, this attaches to the bottom of the tripod, this will allow us to move the camera freely without the handheld look.
  • 4. Continued, By having different angles in a shot will allow you as the director to put across different emotions. As we are creating a advertisement, we wont be using the Dutch angle. We will use angles which will show the outfits off. For the night video we will use up close intense shots and have tracking forward.
  • 5. Before you begin filming anything you need to make sure you know what you need to film. This is why story boards are created to make sure that you know what order you need to film in, what shot type it is, the camera angle/movement. This will make the process of filming smoother and quicker. This will also allow you to show the model, actors the composition of what they have to do.
  • 6. Make sure that you have more than one take of a shot. This will allow you to have shots to choose from and pick the best one. If there is a mistake in the shot and you have only one take of it, it would mean that you would either 1) go back, re film and waste editing time, or 2) cut the shot completely and try to find something to replace it. Its better to have too many shots of something, rather than one shot.
  • 7. Lighting As we will be filing outside for one of the adverts, we need to make sure that we have the lighting perfected. This will mean they will have to be warm shots, the white balance will be manually adapted and changed by us on the camera. When we are filming out side we need to make sure that we are taking multiple shots of the model, this means that if the lighting changes throughout the day that we will have takes to choose from. As we are shooting out side we will have to film the outside shots over two days, this will mea that will will the receive consistent lighting for the re-films. To help with the lighting we can use reflectors which will help control the lighting more.
  • 8. Lighting When shooting our model we need to make sure that we don’t make her look flat. This will be most important when we are shooting our night time advert. This is because we will be needing to use spot lights on the model because we want to shoot at night. This means we will have to have had practice with the spot lights. We have used spot lights within out GCSE and AS media course work. But we have also created prototype adverts to get more practice with lighting editing, using models, camera movements and shot types.
  • 9. White balance We need to make sure that when we are filming we want to fix the white balance manually. This means that we will have full control and there will be continuity with the shots. We will want the day time advert to look warm and summery, this means that we need to correct the white balance to make sure that it looks like this. We want the shots to look warm like the picture on the right. We need to capture the true colors of our location.
  • 10. Post production Before we begin to cut and edit all of the clips we need to make sure that they are all in order and everything runs correctly. By placing them in order it will allow us to look at the order of the clips and if there are too many of one type of shot. This will allow us to look and see which clips are the most important to the marketing campaign and which ones we need to re-film.
  • 11. Post filming We need to make sure that our video isn't over visually stimulating. We want to keep our videos simple and ‘clean’. We want to feature the mirror effect as this will give our marketing campaign a noticeable effect when people watch it and will begin to recognize the campaign. By having too many effects it will make our brand look cheap. For our background music we have chosen urban up beat music. By having current up to date music will allow people to enjoy watch the advert as they will get entertainment out of the adverts.
