The document summarizes 4 experiments conducted to improve video editing and design skills:
1. Editing video clips in the style of AWGE videos by cutting out shapes and adding animations.
2. Designing a logo for the brand "Vampyre" using images of a castle and bats over text in a dark color scheme.
3. Experimenting with photography techniques like lighting, camera settings, and posing to convey mood.
4. Creating an animated 3D spinning logo in After Effects by following a tutorial.
Unit 8 - Information and Communication Technology (Paper I).pdfThiyagu K
This slides describes the basic concepts of ICT, basics of Email, Emerging Technology and Digital Initiatives in Education. This presentations aligns with the UGC Paper I syllabus.
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

2. Technique
Problem
A technique problem which I may have been a lack of
motivation to do the work and losing my concentration
with the work. I also may have issues with the software
like aftereffects and will have too constantly look at
tutorials since I am not 100% confident with the software
and how it works. I also need to improve my technique
with software's like aftereffects since they will be very
important to my project.
3. Equipment
Encase of emergency with the equipment I will have
replacements/alternates so that it won't slow down or
alter the production timetable.
The things that I will use as alternates to equipment will
be my phone camera, spare clothes that fit the style and
look I am going for. I will also have a spare tripod which
I can use for a camera and a phone tripod, it is small
enough to use as a handle to hold the camera steady.
4. Issuesfrom
previoustasks
In the previous tasks I have had issues, some of those issues were:
Lack of concentration
People catching COVID and stopping me from being able to film
Constant rescheduling for shoots
Not enough planning
College flooding on last day to get work done
The way I will address these issues are:
For my lack of concentration, trying to get as much work done as possible in the
morning before lunch, which is when I have the most concentration.
To deal with COVID I will make sure shoots are safer and the COVID
restriction have been lifted. I also am not using people who are at risk or live
with people at risk from COVID.
To deal with rescheduling for shoots, I will make sure in advance that everyone
involved with the shoot will be informed a few weeks prior and will be informed
when I make my production schedule so they definitely know when to come and
shoot.
When it comes to my planning, I will put a lot more detail and work into it, but
I will leave room for change. As my idea develops up to planning, I should have
the idea in my head and ready to produce.
If college floods on the last day again I will save all my work to my OneDrive so
I can work from home so it doesn’t disrupted my production.
5. Tshirtdesign
I have made these t shirts with the brands logo on them which would
be sold on the Aylien's Castle website as merchandise. The reason I
have chosen the black and white as the colour for the T-shirts this is
because I want it as more of a piece to and to an outfit, rather than a
stand-alone piece, which would make it be attractive to the
customers of Aylien's Castle since they would want a calmer looking
t-shirt to compare to there louder clothing item that they bought
from Aylien’s Castle. The reason I made the design for the black shirt
with a white background was to make the logo standout.
The cost per t-shirt would be £1.59 from Wordans and cost per print
would be £3.96 from TeamShirts, so the total cost would be £5.55, so
100 t shirts would be £555 that means that they would need to be
sold for £10 a shirt. This could be a potential issue for the t-shirts
since the price is reasonably expensive and to afford the printing and
the shirts and some people would thin £10 is too expensive to spend
on a t-shirt. The way that I would combat this issue is by advertising
the shirt after every purchase and eventually people will start
buying them.
7. Potential Problem Effect on Production Control/mitigation
Models don't or cannot turn up production day missed leading to falling behind
schedule
Plan heavily before making the dates of production
very clear and obvious to the models
Computer breaks Won't be able to edit the footage Change computer in college or bring in laptop and edit
on it.
COVID People might have to miss production days Make sure we are being COVID safe.
Clothing breaks or doesn't turn up There won’t be the items for the models to wear Have alternate items to be able to switch encase of
emergencies
Equipment breaks Will remove production days Use phone camera instead
Falling Injury/death Make sure every place we go is safe and having it be
looked at and checked before
Electrocution Injury/death Check that all equipment used in production works
Wi-Fi down at college Cannot do editing Save footage to a memory stick and do work off line
College isn't open Cannot go into college and edit production time
lost
Save work to one drive and memory stick so it can be
always accessed
Loose memory stick Footage lost- unable to edit Save work to one drive as well so it is saved on the
college system
Cannot get to the recording
locations
Unable to get footage slowing down time Have similar looking back up locations to work with
that are nearby
Power goes out Lose all unsaved work
9. Experiments
Plan1
The first experiment is editing styles like the AWGE
scrap book style this will give me an opportunity to
experiment and practise cutting out different shapes and
people.
Experiment 1:
Experiment 1 will be done with the footage that is taken
from the camera experiments in this experiment I will
practice cutting out hots and editing them heavily with
animations. Doing this will help me practice to create
new transitions and just make the video a lot more
visually engaging for the viewers. This will teach me to
do smaller animations to make the video more visually
engaging.

10. Experiments
Plan2
Making a logo to practice putting one together for
my FMP and adjusting the texture and colouring to see
different effects.
Experiment 2:
Experiment 2 is making a logo for a brand called
Vampyre and seeing how I can make a logo which
represents the name and look of the brand whilst trying
not to overload the customers.
11. Experiment3
I will also try out photography too when doing my other
experiments like filming and using the camera. I will also
try my phone and comparing the image quality on both to
see which would be more beneficial to my project
Experiment 3:
Experiment 3 photography, I will take picture of different
surroundings and models and see how the adjustment of
light will affect the mood as well as the angles and
posting of models in an image. I also want to learn how to
get a message through styling and posing my model.
12. Experiment4
I will also try to make a graphic animation 3d logo, I will
research YouTube tutorials and follow them to make
animated graphic.
Experiment 4:
The way I will do this animation will be by getting a Png
simple logo then putting this into aftereffects then
making animation out of it. I will learn how to make this
from a YouTube tutorial.
14. Experiment1
The bars video is some bars in the round about then I cut out the triangle in between, on
photoshop by using the brush tool then making it a Png then underlaying the video of jay with
the car to create a smoother transition, I have seen this effect done in AWGE videos before.
The second video of the vampire teeth in the hatch car roof is like the bars edit with using
phot shop to remove a shape then in this case underlaying an image and putting it under the
image then putting the image in for a few frames for a short animation style effect.
The third video was using the ultra-key tool and overlaying images in the sky to make the
video more visually engaging and this a very subtle and easy effect to do but has a great effect
combined with their images.
The fourth video is of jay turning around another effect which saw in AWGE videos are the
reptation of the model cut out moving across the scene id did this by screen shotting the scene
putting it in photoshop cutting out jay then saving it as a Png then implementing into the
video then creating a mini animation with it and then copy and passing it but timing it as
very slightly after each other giving it the reptation effect.
The fifth effect is the range and contrast being tuned up slow with the result being very
distorted I have seen effects like this used in videos before and really helps to drive the
aesthetic and look of the brand. I did this by cutting out the clip setting the timer at normal
level then at the endo at max to slowly increase the effect in the clip.
The sixth effect which I have done is the picture edit I took different pictures at the same
location then edited the base picture with other pictures to crate this effect. I save jpgs of each
layer being added then turned it into a short animation.

15. Experiment2
I made a logo for the made-up brand "Vampyre" I found
the castle and bats both from google as free Png's, I found
the text of da font the font was called Gothikella. After I
layered the images and text, and I chose the colour red
because it is the colour of blood and that’s the colour of
blood and that is what vampires drink. For the castle
Png I used different blending modes and effects to make
it seem dark and surrounded by mist to add to the
gloomy atmosphere and look. I also used a Png of a
swarm of bats I also used blending mode effects o it to
give it more texture and to make it stand out from the
black castle background. Finally, I used the blending
mode on the "Vampyre" text to give it more texture and to
also make it look darker and like it had been scratched.
16. Experiment3
The Photography experiment went well I learned
experiment went well I learned how different lighting
can affect the mood and emotion of an image, I also
began to understand how the camera worked in
photography mode and how it looked and was style, the
flash would flick out of the camera after a few shots, I
found thje flash to add a greater effect to the picture of
jay standing against the wall since it gave an effect of
being like a mug shot, I would like to incorporate shots
like this into my work since you can add effects to it
easily in software like premier pro.
17. Experiment4
In experiment 4 I made an animated graphic of a
spinning logo of a heartagram I got the image off the
internet then I edited out of the logo on photoshop. I then
put it on aftereffects then I watched the YouTube tutorial
by editing the background to affect the gradient colouring
on logo then I thickened up the logo so you can see it
when it spins.
