YOU MUST – Discuss how you have(or not) made your planning
and preparation for shooting more effective than was the case
with the prelim task
By planning our work it meant that we were able to use our time more
effectively this is because we was able to finish our movie into a period of
time. This plan to our preliminary task helped to work out how much of a
timescale that we actually had to work in by completing a preliminary task we
was able to work out a time that we would be able to film a movie and means
that we would be able to show how much time we have to work this out. Also
this meant that we was able to work on a wide range of shots that we would
be able to use in a movie this meant that we was able to work out basic rules
and shots when practicing with the cameras. But with the movie we was able
to go into more detail into a different types of shots that we are able to use.
Also we was able to help us decide on a genre in which we would use we
choose the horror genre this is because of basing it around the preliminary
task because it showed how hard it would be to make a movie based on the
action and adventure genre. Finally the preliminary task helped with the
filming of our movie because we was able to edit our movie and get used to
the software that we was going to use to make our movies. This would help
our movie as it meant we was able to use a wider range of different editing
techniques to help with the making of our movie.
YOU SHOULD – discuss how you have(or not) improved the
quality of the footage shot (using tripods, different angles,
filming several different good takes from different positions
We have improved the quality of our footage by taking shots from a wide range of angles and by using
tripods and a number of cameras at once making it easier for us to film.
Firstly we used a wide range of shots when filming. We would do this by taking a lot of different camera
shot types and looking at them all until we found the one in which we think it best suited the movie
scene. By using a wide range of shots this meant that we was able to incorporate this into our movie
and by doing making the quality of the footage that we used is better for our movie.
Secondly we used tripods by using a tripod this would mean that the shots that we used were very
balanced and straight. The tripod provided stability for our shots. This was further enhanced when we
tried to used the school chairs to help to make an dolly which we used in an wide amount of shots this
helped because it meant we was able to create tracking shots of the characters when filming. The tripod
helped with these as it meant we was able to keep the shot at a certain height with as little movement
as possible.
Finally by using a number of cameras to shoot a shot reverse shot this was easier as it meant we
wouldn’t break the 180 degree rule and meant that it would save a lot more time. This would mean also
there would be no continuity issues this is because there would be no change of the setting or anything
that would be said. This means that the shots would have a better flow and was easier for us to edit.
YOU COULD – discuss how you have(or not) improved
the quality of the edited piece – more use of features
within iMovie, use of music.
We used final cut pro to help with the editing of our movie. This meant that we was
able to test out a wider range of different cuts and texts that could be used when
editing.
Firstly we edited some of our movie using iMovie this was so that we as a group was
able to use iMovie and the basics that we completed. This then lead us to being able
to put music over the top of our work meaning that there was more emphasis on what
was actually happening in the movie also this meant that there was more tension
created. This is done by the music continuously building up and creating eerie
atmosphere.
Secondly we added in subtitles this is because this meant we was able to add extra
emphasis on the people that are actually in the movie and the actions that they are
taking. This will improve the movie as it creates tensions and makes sure that the
viewers are sure of the characters that they are watching.
Finally there is the cuts which we used when creating the movie the cuts which we
used were all very quick straight cuts. These cuts mean that the movie is able to flow a
lot more and mean that the tension is able to build a lot easier. By creating tension it
means its more likely to create a suspense to keep the viewers enticed in the movie
for a longer period of time.
