The Mission Statement And Core Values
While physical environment is crucial, the facility s origin, mission statement and core values are
equally as important. According to Ms. Andrew, Superior Residence was formed by a man named
Dennis Taylor in 1999. Ironically, Mr. Taylor s mother discovered she had dementia when she left
eggs on the stove and forgot about them eventually burning them. However no assisted living facility
met his standard of care and as a result, he decided to establish a decentralized company that focuses
on superior care and a quality lifestyle for seniors (Andrew, J., personal communication, October 28th,
2016). The company s mission statement is Building trust so that residents, families, and our team
have peace, and its four core values are integrity, service, efficiency, and the most important, fun
(Superior Residences , 2016). The mission statement shows was designed to provide comfort to
families because although they might not be able to cure or prevent the progression of their loved one
s dementia, they can provide them with peace and warmth in a comfortable environment. Moreover, in
regards to the core values, while the first three are somewhat basic, the last value, fun provides
patients and their families with a sense of hope. In Jill s words, they have fun morning, afternoon, and
night through lots of music and exercise. A truly heartfelt experience during the tour was when Jill
began to sing to a resident, Joyce, who soon chimed in with her, belting out Well I ve got joy,

Compare And Contrast Hedda Gabler And Oedipus The King
Ibsen and Sophocles are distinct writers from different periods and culture. They both wrote plays and
stories with strong protagonists who the readers don t enjoy, but, whose fate is somewhat tragic in a
sense that elicits the reader s sympathy for the sense of wasted potential and tragic loss. Personally, I
agree with this statement because from both authors books like Ibsen Hedda Gabler and Sophocles
Oedipus The King ; the readers did not like the main characters, but the reader does sympathize. The
protagonists from both plays do portray themselves as people that others don t like, but as the plays
goes on; the protagonists begin to reveal themselves and their struggles. In which, the readers would
sympathize.
On Sophocles text Oedipus the King , Sophocles begins the play with the main character: Oedipus is
this heroic person who is to find out the cause of the disease that is spreading across the city and
causing so many to die. Oedipus is a person who is brave and intelligent because he was the one to
solve the sphinx riddle and to kill her. On page 483, paragraph 4, Sophocles describes the backstory of
how Oedipus becomes famous in the city of Thebes, ... When he reached Thebes, he found the city
oppressed by a dreadful female monster, a Sphinx part human, part lion, often also depicted in Greek
art with the wings of an eagle and the tail of a snake. The Sphinx refused to let anyone into the city
unless they could answer her riddle [...] She strangled and devoured

Dawn Octavia Butler Summary
The understanding of what Science Fiction is can be explained differently by many people. Most
perceive Science Fiction was windows to our future, as if those writers foresaw the future and are now
giving an explanation of how the future of the world will be. Frederic Jameson argues that Science
Fictions is more of a mock future , Science Fiction uses pieces of our everyday life and morphed it
into an image of our assumed future.
Science fiction is able to demonstrate and dramatize our incapacity to image the future . Frederic
Jameson says, meaning when looking at our reality, writers are able to envision a world where today s
issues carry on. A world where small laughable issues, such as a celebrity running for president.
Actually becoming the president and starting a war. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reagan would talk about starting a nuclear war to subdue the soviet empire. Americans at the time
were excited with the thought of a war, Butler was confused by the joy of violence and so, she decided
to create a world where this can occur.
Science Fiction points out the flaws we have as a society. One major flaw is the construction of
capitalism. A structure made where we are virtually fighting each other to be the person who owns the
most, to become the person with the most power.
In Dawn by Octavia Butler, a world is created in the post destruction of the world. It begins after the
destruction of Earth, ruled by greed the grew from the capitalism government. A world where the
leaders bombed each other until there was nothing left on the planet.
In Dawn an alien species, Oankali, come to save the human species from dying out. The Oankali are a
species that comes to save dying planets by combining their genetic material with the dying species, in
order to preserve the best qualities. We trade the essence of ourselves. Our genetic material for yours...
We do it naturally. We must do it. (Butler

Internal/External Factors
Companies are being challenged every day with factors that affect their primary management
functions. Globalization, technology, innovation, diversity, and ethics are just some of the factors
companies are facing that can affect functions of management. Managers are trained to identify these
factors and analyze how they will affect the functions of their management. Planning, organizing,
leading, and controlling are the four functions managers operate under. Managers will look for signs
indicating when of these factors are affecting their management function. In the following ... Show

Planning for globalization is where one would need to look at the end results for the their purpose of
globalizing. To begin globalizing, you need to understand what it is you are looking for e.g. cheaper
labor, out sourcing, and bigger market. Once you understand this, you can move on to the next
function of management. Organizing in a global market can and will be difficult. To organize a global
business, you need to take in many factors to help determine your end result. To organize a business,
you will need to think not only of your company s well being, but also the relationship your company
has with the market you are currently in. To organize on a global level, you will need to have many
people in many places, this way you can keep yourself updated on what is happing in each of the
regions your company is involved in. Leading and controlling in a global environment will mean
having to think about all aspects of your company across the globe. Since both of these functions have
pretty much the same application in a global market, we can discuss them both here. Many people in
many different places will rely on you or the company to know where the end results lay at and how to
achieve them. In order to lead and control a global company, you will need to look at all aspects of
your company s operation in each of the markets you are in. You will need to decide which is best for
each area and monitor the performance.

How Is Cyrano De Bergerac A Tragic Hero
As Cyrano is bleeding out on her floor, Roxanne allows him to die with a smile on his face. In Cyrano
de Bergerac, a dramatic comedy by Edmond Rostand, Cyrano de Bergerac is a tragic hero because he
exhibits all the same qualities a tragic hero should have. Cyrano de Bergerac has a tragic flaw, is
responsible for his own downfall, and comes to a self knowledge in the end. Even though Cyrano has
a tragic flaw and is responsible for his own downfall, his final moments lead to his self knowledge.
Throughout the play Cyrano de Bergerac has two major tragic flaws. To start with, Cyrano is insecure
about his looks, especially his nose. Cyrano is constantly making fun of his own looks and always
tearing down his spirit. Cyrano has a poor ugly devil of a nose and his face is not much to look at
(Rostand). Cyrano probably makes fun of himself so that when other people mock him, he can just
brush it off. When others ridicule Cyrano, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cyrano helps his best friend Christian, who is also in love with Roxanne, convince Roxanne that she is
in love with him. Cyrano writes the letters to Roxanne, but puts Christian s name on the letters. Even
when Christian speaks to Roxanne while she is on the balcony, Cyrano tells Christian that he will go
beneath [the balcony] and prompt your words to you (Rostand). In addition to Cyrano helping
Christian, Cyrano s pride is a reason for his downfall. He is constantly putting himself in danger and
dueling other people due to his pride, like when he challenges the entire pit to duel him and says The
first duellist shall be despatched by me with honours due! Let all who long for death hold up their
hands (Rostand)! Even when Cyrano is extremely hurt, he thinks that he will be able to make it to
Roxanne. As he is speaking to Roxanne, Le Bret and Ragueneau burst into to the room. Cyrano s pride
leads him to duel Le Bret and Ragueneau while he is injured, which ultimately causes his

Clara Wieck Schumann and the Struggle for Equality in...
Clara Wieck Schumann and the Struggle for Equality in Nineteenth Century Germany The place of
women before and during the nineteenth century is well summarized by a Bavarian statute book,
which states that by marriage, the wife comes under the authority of the husband and the law allows
him to chastise her moderately (Gay 177). These ideas are similarly echoed in the Declaration of the
Rights of Man and of the
Citizen and the writings of Jean Jacques Rousseau. The former did not afford women any of the rights
provided for men, such as liberty, property, resistance to oppression, voting, free speech, etc.; the latter
reasoned that because women were the weaker sex, they should not (and moreover could not) be a part
of society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also during this period, nationalism was on the rise and encompassed nearly all aspects of
universities, which increasingly allowed women access to an education, opening the door for their
liberation (Gay 48).
Very often during this period, women experienced great monotony in their lives and became jaded
with the tasks they performed day after day. While some women put up with this hackneyed life,
others struggled to free themselves from it. Many not only fought for rights but against injustices their
sex had sustained in previous centuries (Gay 172). The end of the nineteenth century saw an increased
activism by women, who argued against their dominated position and for fundamental changes in laws
(Gay 177). While there did exist some men who supported women and believed their deprivation of
many rights was unjust, many more were disheartened with the advancing woman. Because men had
come to relax in their domineering role, they became uncomfortable, if not fearful, when women
showed their independence. This led to a bourgeois culture which can be summed up in a single word:
uncertainty (Gay 48, 171). Changes were occurring at a rapid pace, and many older, more
conservative citizens saw this as a time of frenzied disregard for the concrete, sustained values and
morals with which they had been raised. The nineteenth century was a time when all facets of life
religious, political, sexual were being questioned

President Truman And President Dwight D. Eisenhower
President Harry Truman and President Dwight D. Eisenhower were each president during the Cold
War. Harry Truman became president during the end of World War II in 1945. His final term ended in
1953. Dwight Eisenhower became president in the midst of the Cold war in 1953 and his last term
ended on 1961. Truman was Democratic and Eisenhower was Republican. They each had many
occasions when their policies had similar intentions, but they went about them differently. Each
wanted to end the fighting and to limit the spread of communism. They each also wanted to help
strengthen other parts of the world. They tried to achieve these issues by enacting foreign policies in
military, political and economic situations. Truman and Eisenhower each wanted to help limit the
increasing issue of communism. One approach they did was getting involved physically and militarily
in the countries that were in need. The peace conference at Potsdam was a failure, because communist
Russia still stood on their own and as their own separate nation. The Soviet Union had already
succeeded in conquering Poland, and much of Europe splitting up Germany. After Hitler committed
suicide, the main obstacle for the United States and many other countries was to avoid the looming
threat of communism. Truman created the Truman Doctrine to possibly stop or postpone this issue. I
believe, he argued, that it must be the policy of the United States to support free people who are
resisting attempted subjugation by

Theme Of Fatherhood In The Kite Runner
Numerous books and novels have a hidden theme, or moral which the author wants the reader to
decipher throughout the story. Several novels fail to portray the point they want to get across to the
reader. The Kite Runner, written by Khaled Hosseini has a perfect setup which helps the reader find
the different morals of the story. Hosseini s novel has many different symbols, and morals, and one
thing that the author emphasizes throughout the story is fatherhood. The protagonist of the story is
Amir. Baba and Amir s father son relationship wasn t very good towards the beginning of the story
.Although Rahim Khan isn t Amir s father, he was a father figure in the story. In Khaled Hosseini s
novel The Kite Runner , Hosseini defines fatherhood as being honest with one another, and he defines
it as trusting each other and being dependable, like a friend.
In the novel, fatherhood is defined by being dependable on one another. In the average family, a father
figure is one who is dependable for their children, and tells their children their rights, and their
wrongs. When the reader first gets to know Baba, Amir s choice of words can tell the audience about
him. Baba was a father that would disown his kids if they didn t like them.Throughout the story, Amir
constantly tries to get Baba to appreciate him. Baba says that Amir is nothing like him and if he hadn t
seen his birth with his own eyes, he would not have believed that he was his son. On page 4, Amir
asks Baba if he can sit with

Opioid Treatment
Another drug class treatment that has been proven successful with PLP are opioids such as morphine.
Wu et al. (2008) study showed that morphine was able to permanently reduce PLP in some patients,
which may be due to the drug s ability to diminish cortical reorganization in the brain. A large concern
with the use of opioids, especially long term use, is the possibility of addiction and quality of life. For
many patients, using morphine on a consistent basis may not be possible due to lack of a live in
caretaker and also economic concerns such as employment. Knotkova et al. (2012) discuss the issue of
opioid use in their review article on PLP treatment options explaining the long term use of these drugs

Also, many drugs have been used post surgery in treating PLP with success, particularly oral
morphine. An inexpensive and easy drug free therapy to follow, which its success in reducing PLP has
been replicated in many studies, is mirror therapy. Mirror therapy also has the added benefit of being
able to be done at home by the patient at his or her own pace. Finally, there are many novel therapies
that have been very promising in treating PLP including cryoablation therapy of the affected nerve

St. Paul s Cathedral in London, England Essay
St. Paul s Cathedral, in London, England, was designed by architect Sir Christopher Wren. Approval
of this most significant architectural project took six years just for the plan. Construction, which began
in 1675, took thirty five years until finally complete in 1710. It was built to replace a church that had
been leveled by the Great Fire of 1666. St. Paul s is the largest cathedral in England, and said to be
Wren s masterpiece. He brought a range of new forms, and architectural combination into English

Sir Christopher Wren s design of St. Paul s Cathedral, is not only the largest cathedral in England, but
one of the most significant stylistically architectural combinations into English Architecture.
After the Great Fire, parts of the remains of Old St Paul s were patched up as a temporary cathedral.
The structure, however, was in a very bad shape, and in May 1668, after a fall of the remains of the
building materials fell; Wren was asked to submit proposals for a new cathedral. Wren s first proposal,
The First Model , was quickly neglected, because it was said to be too modest. His second proposal
was a mimic of the Greek cross. It was a classical style of the Italian Renaissance, it was centrally
planned, and the main interior space was set beneath an enormous dome, and auxiliary spaces were
located around the sides. But the clergy, who were only familiar with cathedrals whose designs, were
Romanesque or Gothic, and were not familiar to classical architecture in his design, quickly through
out the new design. His third design, The Warrant Design , was still classical architecture, but it was
based on the criticisms of the Greek cross design. The plan was longitudinal, the nave and choir were
bordered by lower aisles, and the towers and spire suggested the shape of medieval England. This
design was approved by King Charles II, but Wren

Iran announced that they would resume uranium enrichment activities and end implementation of the

With any mental illness there are no clear cut, perfect textbook cases. When observing and diagnosing
bipolar disorder in an adult, there are no definitive tests a doctor can give such as blood work or even
in vivo testing during pregnancy to predict whether or not a child will be mentally predisposed to a
disease such as bipolar disorder. To make such a diagnosis in a child, no matter how educated is
instilling a prophecy onto them that labels and predicts how difficult the rest of their lives will be, how
many roadblocks they have to overcome, and how much medication they could face taking . Many

Public Goods Game Experiment
Introduction
A public goods game is an experimental game where subjects choose the amount of money or tokens
they would like to place in a public pot. It is done so privately without anyone else knowing about it.
The amount is then multiplied equally by a factor, and it is then equally shared among the participants.
(Radoc, 2001) Although some players would have contributed less they are allowed to keep tokens or
money amounts they did not contribute. Peoples contributions are also heavily subjective what how
much their peers contribute, and also benchmarked upon previous contributions (Augenblick Cunha,

Why Abortion Should Stop The Abortion
Why Abortion Should stopped
For everyone an abortion is defined as the removal of an embryo or fetus from the uterus from a
female, in order to end a pregnancy (Webster, Merriam). Abortions are wrong because one cannot
create life; therefore a person should not be able to terminate a life before it actually starts. Depending
on the situation people may feel that abortions are justifiable. Due to a person being too young, or just
simply unprepared. I feel that either way that it is murder. We wouldn t accept a serial killer roam the
streets as if nothing happened. In this argument it is the same thing. (The book of exodus 20:1 7)
clearly states thou shall not kill. You can t avoid that in any form or fashion (exodus 20:1 7). Every
human being has a right to life even if they are not born, yet there are no rules to stop this crime.
I feel that abortions should be illegal anywhere on this planet. I searched up some facts about how
abortions can hurt you in The killing of an human was doing no wrong is a horrible act, even if that
human being has yet to be born. Unborn babies are considered human or soon to be humans by the

the Suez Canal enabled them to control world trade which made their empire even stronger. However,
the British not only controlled the Canal but exploited land. Cotton became the second most extracted

Tour To Cortez
We stayed in the small town of Cortez, CO. It was a nice quite town with good 4th of July fireworks.
We ate at Destination Grill. It s next to the Holiday Inn. The food was really good and it wasn t
crowed. If you go take some time look at the pictures that they have hanging up around the restaurant.
Cortez is about a 20 minute drive from the entrance to Mesa Verde National Park. We had a 9:00 a.m.
tour that left from Far View Lodge. We read that we needed to arrive really early because traffic in the
park was bad. The lodge was about 30 minutes inside the park. There was no traffic that early in the
morning, so we got there early. We had time to look around the gift shop and look out at the Far View

around the park with a very knowledgeable guide. We got to stop a different kevias and learned how
they were built. We also got to go down into Cliff Palace. This is a ranger led program. Our guide was
from Tennessee, but he knew so much information about Mesa Verde and Cliff Palace. I recommend
touring Cliff Palace and the rest of Mesa Verde during the morning if you re visiting during the
summer. We toured Cliff Palace at 10:30 and it was complete shade. Cliff Palace is not a hike that you
need to take if you have heart, hip, knee, or shoulder problems. This hike requires climbing down
steep stairs and climbing ladders. There is one short ladder before you get to Cliff Palace, and then
there is a very long ladder when you leave Cliff Palace. Bring water when you come to Mesa Verde,
even in the morning. Also be mindful of altitude changes. Cliff Palace is located at a 7,000 foot

Victimization In Surfacing Atwood
In the canon of postcolonial writers, Atwood is a troublesome figure. Despite her notable search for an
understanding of Canada that is not first mediated by an English or American aesthetic. Atwood s
novels are examined in a cultural context in this study, which explores the victimization of women.
Victimization includes anything that affects women s survival, specifically, victimization through
physical, psychological, and economic manipulation. Atwood s novels show how society sustains
victimization by holding power over women. The protagonists of Atwood s novels are not satisfied
with their lives, and as they explore the reasons for their discontent, come to realize that they are
victims of social, economic, and political discrimination. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Because we re Britons, we will never be slaves. But we aren t real Britons, because we are also

Here, the postcolonial reality is experienced as a mild but insistent inferiority complex, a sense of
internalised alienation. However, in Surfacing Atwood addressed the pressures of America s cultural
colonisation of Canada, and in an interview she expanded: it s impossible to talk about Canadian
literature without also talking about the fact that Canada s an economic and cultural colony . This
broader view of colonialism encompasses various manifestations of national domination and
suppression, and for Atwood, Canada s marginal position in terms of political and economic power
places her, as its citizen, as a marginal, colonial, and postcolonial subject.

National Symbols Of Guatemala And Its Effect On The...
corn, bananas, coffee, beans, and chickens (The World Fact book, Economy). In the past few years
Guatemala is experiencing drought and it is affecting the country s farming capabilities. Recent
statistics gathered by VoaNews estimate about 900,000 individuals are troubled by this issue. Like
many matters, this has caused a chain reaction resulting in an increase of unemployment. Although a
challenge, I envision a possible business opportunity to alter this effect. A strategy that came into mind
was a tool utilized to decrease the amount of water irrigated. There is currently a watering system used
for a similar purpose called the Tree T Pee (Tree T Pee Site). It would be a great approach to invest
and incorporate a modification that can be used in lands abroad like Guatemala. It could also increase
the employment rate and create new jobs. Despite the downfalls, Guatemala continues to be well

important national symbols in Guatemala is the Quetzal. Studies (Standford University, Para. 6) based

Analysis Of Vic Gatrell s The Hanging Tree Essay
Vic Gatrell s The Hanging Tree explores the opinions of average and lower class citizens on public
hangings on England from 1770 until 1868 rather than the opinions of bureaucrats, royalty, and other
elites as many similar histories do. He argues that the opinions of lower class citizens grew more and
more unfavorable during this time, and the movement of executions to a private setting in the 1860s
was a direct result of the diminishing support for public executions. At the same time, the gradual shift
among elites and other government officials toward the abolishment of public executions was a
reaction against increasingly unruly crowds and the squeamishness toward the spectacle of the
execution (67). This book is organized into six sections with a total of 21 chapters. The first section
describes the mentality of the audience present at public executions, and the second section covers the
private opinions of plebian, or lower class citizens on execution. The third section defends Gatrell s
argument that the outlawing of public executions was more of a solution to large rioting crowds than it
was for humanitarian purposes. The fourth and fifth sections offer detailed accounts of specific court
cases that demonstrate the unfairness and ineffectiveness of the Blood Code and public execution in
England. Finally, the sixth section contains Gatrell s argument against those who deem themselves
reformers who, in Gatrell s opinion, only reformed out of self interest to dispel

Children and Traumatic Grief
Nader and Salloum (2011) made clear that, at different ages, children differ in their understanding of
the universality, inevitability, unpredictability, irreversibility, and causality of death. They believed,
despite the increasing understanding with age of the physical aspects of death, a child may
simultaneously hold more than one idea about the characteristics of death. However, factors that
complete the determining nature of childhood grieving across different age groups may be a difficult
task for a number of reasons including their environment in means of the support they have available,
the child s nature in terms of their personality, genetics, and gender, coping skills and previous
experiences, the developmental age, grieving style, whether or not therapy was received, and the
relationship to the deceased (Nader Salloum, 2011). Crenshaw (2005) found that according to our
current understanding of childhood traumatic grief and normal grief, thoughts and images of a
traumatic nature are so terrifying, horrific, and anxiety provoking that they cause the child to avoid
and shut out these thoughts and images that would be comforting reminders of the person who died.
The distressing and intrusive images, reminders, and thoughts of the traumatic circumstances of the
death, along with the physiological hyper arousal associated with such re experiencing, prevent the
child from proceeding in a healthy way with the grieving process (Crenshaw, 2005). McClatchy, Vonk,

Data Encryption
I. What is Data Encryption?
Data encryption describes the transformation of plain text into a different format that is meaningless
read by human eye without being decrypted, so called cipher text, in order to prevent any
unauthorized party to obtain information from the document.
According to the Webster dictionary, cryptography is the practice and study of data encryption and
decryption encoding data so that it can only be decoded by specific individuals. Crypto is derived
from the Greek word kruptos, to hide, from kruptein, which means hidden and secret. In the old days,
people attempted to withhold certain information as their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The next breakthrough in the encryption history happened in 1500BC in Assyria. Intaglio was used by
Assyrian merchants to identify themselves in their business transactions. Intaglio is a piece or flat
stone or gem that has some sort of pattern, designs or writing engraved on its surface that uniquely
identify its owner. The idea of intaglio is very brilliant and people around the world started to use
intaglio in their trade businesses and even as a popular form of identifications in any written
documents in human history until the past century. In fact, the concept of Intaglio is so good that
modern technology created digital signature based on it. Following, there were many other significant
inventions and progresses in the cryptography history: Skytales by Greeks, long leather strips that
wrapped around when the person writes and reads; Nomenclator, manipulations of alphabets and etc.
Notice that the US had not yet been mentioned in the ancient history of cryptography. The US did not
contribute much at all to the growth until 18th century AD. In 1790, Thomas Jefferson invented a
wheel cipher with the help of mathematician Dr. Robert Patterson. This wheel cipher is an elaborate
form of code system and this invention make Thomas Jefferson the pioneer of American
Cryptography. This invention was later on enhanced and modified; a couple generations later, it was
used in World War II.

First World War Convergence Analysis
According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, convergence is defined as independent development of
similar characters often associated with similarity of habits or environment, ( Convergence ). World
War I is a worthy example to discuss the idea of an event forming similar experiences in a variety of
characters. Meaning, two ethnically dissimilar people raised in different environments, could have a
convergence of experiences due to fighting in the same war; while two neighbors might diverge in all
ways but their nationality. An investigation could be made into how the soldiers experiences during
the war might converge more with soldiers of other nations than with the citizens of the soldiers
homeland. This historical essay will work to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And although, the physical issues of the common citizens of Germany and India diverged essentially,
the soldiers who fought for these nations obtained many parallel physical issues due to the nature of
the war. In letter 138 of Omissi collection, Rajwali Khan wrote from the Kitchener s Indian Hospital
to Ghulam Hussain: There is nothing but my corpse left. They have cut off the whole of one leg and
one hand too is useless... There is nothing left of me. (Omissi 98). This can be correlated to when
Kemmerich lost his foot, due to war sustained injuries and thus later became nothing but a corpse
when he died (Remarque 14). The comparison of limbs lost in both the letters and the novel is a
convergence between the two groups of soldiers. Another physical issue that both the Indian and
German soldiers experienced was the lack of food, and accordingly, the constant state of hunger. In the
novel, Paul remarked with us food is pretty scarce and none of it too good at that, (Remarque 189).
This quotation had Paul commenting on how the food was unpalatable and limited, and there was not
even enough food to feed them all. The Indian soldiers also referenced the lack of food, like how in
letter 221 Shambo discussed how the home front was blessed because they get a bellyful of food,
while the soldiers are starving on the battlefield (Omissi 140). This is because in the theater of war as
Paul acknowledged everything gets eaten, notwithstanding, and if ever anyone is so well off as not to
want all of his share, there is a dozen others standing by ready to relieve him of it, (Remarque 189).
Basically, there were always people who end up with no food, no matter how much the soldiers
conserved, or shared their food. So, the lack of food for both the German and Indian soldiers is
another physical aspect that converged between the diverse group of soldiers. Along with the
connection

STORY COMMENTS
THE UNRAPTURED is a faith based, thriller that sends a strong message about the power of
believing. The script explores the danger of a society that oppresses one s belief. The script is targeted
toward a teenage audience. In fact, there s a very likable teen protagonist that drives the story. The
tone is consistently dramatic. The script examines solid themes about faith, destiny, and believing.
There are many twists and turns consistent with a thriller. Thriller techniques are also used, such as the
sense of being stalked and the threat of harm or death. There also are some well crafted action
sequences.
The story presents with both strengths and weaknesses. The highlights are Troy and Jacey. What s
very intriguing about the presentation is the realization that Troy and others have no idea of the history
about religion and have no idea who Jesus Christ was.
With that said, the overall script would benefit from further development in the areas of the structure,
the pace, and clarification, as well as further character

When it comes to information and about this concept related to the digital medium, particularly in the

Thus, it is essential that computational techniques are performed so that the requirements of
information protection are met. In this scenario are presented the two basic types of encryption,
symmetric or private key and public key or asymmetric.
2. Symmetric or Private Key Encryption
The oldest cryptography model, where the key,the element that gives access to the hidden message
exchanged between sender and recipient is equal (symmetric) for both of them and should remain
secret (private). Typically, this key is represented by a password, used by both the sender to encrypt
the message and the recipient to decrypt it.
Essentially, when the sender encrypts a message, it uses a cipher algorithm to convert the plain text of
the message into cipher text. When the destination deciphers a message, it uses the corresponding
deciphering algorithm to convert the cipher text back into a clear message. If an intruder knows the
cipher algorithm, s/he could just decipher an encrypted message as easily as the destination. The
solution in the use of private key encryption proposes that when the sender encrypts a message,

Egypt Expulsion Of The Hyksos
The Egyptians eventually dealt with the Hyksos through a campaign of attacks that displaced them
from Egypt. Seqenenre Tao II is originally thought to have commenced the Egyptian s battle for

Nefrusi and Avaris. However, Ahmose I completed the expulsion of the Hyksos through his likely use
of Hyksos weaponry to subjugate Avaris and Sharuhen. Thus, the Hyksos were displaced from Egypt

Seqenenre Tao II is believed to have initiated the campaign to expel the Hyksos. This is due to
Seqenenre s believed quarrel with the Hyksos king Apophis. However, this altercation is unsure to be

Big Five Personality Test Essay
The Big 5 Personality Test The Big Five model of personality traits is a widely accepted and popular
framework in personality psychometrics that is aimed at assessing personality according to traits.
Traits refer to an individual s stable characteristics that predispose them to behave in particular ways
across contexts (de Bruin Taylor, 2013). In other words, trait psychologists aim to assess the
consistencies in an individual s behaviour in order to gain insight into the individual s general ways of
interacting with people and the environment. Using factor analysis on multiple personality scales,
psychologists have described and summarised personality traits in terms of five broad traits: Openness
to Experience, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our ways of interacting with others and the environment are affected by an innumerable amount of
factors such as; our cultural context, the particular social situation we are placed in, our health and
financial situation, relation with others, our early childhood experiences etc. Due to this, the one size
fits all approach that many theoretical models of personality follow is problematic (Borghans,
Duckworth, Heckman ter Weel, 2008). The approach stems from the increasing rate of globalisation:
commercial companies are hiring many international employees, placing a high demand on
psychologists to develop aptitude, intelligence as well as personality tests (Moyle, 2015). However,
personality assessments and applications have strong use within Western countries, this means that the
norms of what normal (and thereby non pathological) personality have been developed according to
Western culture. Simply translating the personality test into another language and distributing it to
another culture, as has been done in the past, is inappropriate and problematic. For example,
personality research has demonstrated that participants with a Chinese cultural history score lower on
extraversion than their Western counterparts (Cheung Cheung, 2003). Therefore we can see that the
major challenge facing psychometrists in this field involves the complex issues of adapting personality
tests appropriately across

Euthanasia Essay
Assisted Suicide/Euthanasia
Remarkably, few have noticed that frail, elderly and terminally ill people oppose assisted suicide more
than other Americans. The assisted suicide agenda is moving forward chiefly with vocal support from
the young, the able bodied and the affluent, who may even think that their parents and grandparents
share their enthusiasm. They are wrong.
Thus the assisted suicide agenda appears as a victory not for freedom, but for discrimination. At its
heart lie demeaning attitudes and prejudices about the value of life with an illness or disability. All
who believe in the dignity of human beings should reject such attitudes.
When people raise their voices against this injustice, let no one ... Show more content on

They join efforts against assisted suicide in state and federal legislatures, and work to educate to the
dire threat posed by this agenda. Also they join wherever possible with other religious, medical,
disability rights, and public interest groups to call our nation to true compassion for the seriously ill a
compassion based on respect for their lives.
In 1973, the highest court in our land made a tragic error by declaring a constitutional right to take the
life of unborn children. That decision, too, was defended as a victory for freedom. In reality it has led
to 40 million deaths, physical and emotional suffering for countless women, and a coarsening of our
society s attitudes toward human life. It has led to the legalized killing of children even in the very
process of being born. The degradation of human life it has produced must not be allowed to expand
through assisted suicide.
No court, no legislature, no human being has the right to say that any human life is worthless, or that
any human being is of less value than another. We pray that our Supreme Court and all our fellow
Americans will realize this truth, and take the path that leads to life.

Deforestation Guatemala
Angee Peralta
ESS 110
Final Research paper
Environmental deterioration in Guatemala It is a true shame, seeing what third world countries have
done to their beautiful forests. But who is one to judge, their ignorance is a result of the lack of
education and resources provided to them from more developed countries; countries, who have great
education and knowledge of what is being done to this planet. Focusing on Guatemala, only 18
percent of their people enroll into higher education(global education fund). Higher education in
Guatemala is equivalent to the first three years of high school in The United States. Is anyone really to
blame for deforestation in such a big portion of this country? There is not any one specific thing that
has created the destruction of forests. Many factors, and many years have gone into this; for an
example, agricultural expansion, natural disasters, and logging. I will be explaining how all these
factors lead to one main problem, deforestation; and how we can work on fixing this problem.
Deforestation is known to be the cutting of trees is vast amounts. To explain the relevance of ... Show

Here the problem is deforestation, the solution is reforestation. But one can not just simply create
reforestation , that is a vague term, that cannot be simply created. We must begin with the root of this
problem, and pull it completely out for it to stop growing. We must begin by placing rules and
regulations that do not allow the cutting of trees in vast large amounts. This will then decrease the
problem we have with carbon dioxide levels. From now on, all we could do with that is simply plant
more trees. Guatemala is a third world country, so it would need donations from more developed
countries. More local people benefit than not from the cutting of trees, so it is in our hands to stop the
cutting of trees and possibly replant new

Essay on Comparing Dubliners and To the Lighthouse
Comparing Dubliners and To the Lighthouse
In Dubliners and To the Lighthouse, James Joyce and Virginia Woolf explore the depressing results of
lives devoid of growth or meaning versus those who dare to live their lives in spite of all strife and
adversity. Joyce and Woolf are both concerned with the meaninglessness of stagnant lives, the first
operating in pre WWI Ireland, the second in England during and after the war. The Dead and To the
Lighthouse both reveal the despair of lives that occupy but do not fill the short span of time between
birth and inevitable death.
With The Dead , Joyce brings his lament for Ireland s plight to its depressing yet strangely peaceful
conclusion. Like all the previous stories in Dubliners, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the dinner table, the party begins to discuss the greatest legitimate opera (209) singers of the past
and present. Soon the reader must realize that all these celebrated figures are either long since dead, or
living singers who are so obscure that only a single person has ever heard of them. It seems that the
present society is totally devoid of all beauty, for the glory of the past is lost, and the buds and timid
blooms of the present are fatally obscured.
Yet still these people gather yearly around the massive banquet table to engage again and again in the
same sort of conversation, as Gabriel himself notes:
But yet, continued Gabriel, his voice falling into a softer inflection, there are always in gatherings
such as this sadder thoughts that will recur to our minds: thoughts of the past, of youth, of changes, of
absent faces that we miss here to night. Our path through life is strewn with many such sad memories:
and were we to brood upon them always we could not find the heart to go on bravely with our work
among the living. We have all of us living duties and living affections which claim, and rightly claim,
our strenuous endeavors. (214)
Gabriel s speech to the assembled party is in quite a strange tone. Like many other characters in
Dubliners, these people are preoccupied with thoughts of those who have not lasted another
Christmas. With his talk of our work among the

Mendel Paper Company
Mendel Paper Company Mendel Paper Company has been doing relatively well with the sales of
computer paper, napkins, place mats, and poster board. With more people eating out, the demand for
napkins and place mats have increased. Computer paper and poster boards have slowly increased in
demand as well. However, there is concern at the company with the fixed cost of operations. Marlene
Herbert, the plant superintendent, said, As we have automated our operation, we have experienced
increases in fixed overhead and even variable overhead. And, we will have to add more equipment
since it appears that we need even more plant capacity. We are operating over our normal capacity as it
is. (Case 2B). With the new production costs added in, will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The break even point in units for computer paper is $52,000.00. Meaning to break even, you have to
sell $52,000.00 of units of computer paper. The margin of safety, expressed in either dollars or a
percentage, shows how much sales can be reduced without sustaining losses (Schneider, 2012). The
formula to find margin of safety in dollars is: margin of safety in dollars equals the actual (or
expected) costs minus the break even costs. So in the case of computer paper. The actual cost of
$30,000.00 minus the break even point of $52,000.00 gives you the margin of safety of $22,000.00.
Meaning you can cut the sales of computer paper by $22,000.00 and not sustain a loss. To find the
break even point for napkins, you use the same formula. The fixed cost is still $420,000.00. The
selling price of napkins is $7.00. The variable cost is $4.50. $7.00 minus $4.50 is $2.50. So then you
take $420,000.00 and divide it by $2.50 to find the breaking point of $168,000.00. The company will
have to sell $168,000.00 to break even in sales. The margin for safety for napkins is $48,000.00. This
is found by subtracting the actual or expected cost of $120,000.00 by the break even point of
$168,000.00. You can cut sales by $48,000.00 and not sustain a loss. The break even point for place
mats is $50,000.00. This is found by the selling price per unit is $12.00. The variable price per unit of
place mats is $3.60. $12.00 minus $3.60 equals $8.40. You then divide

The Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform
What is a regulation?
One thing all US banks have in common is that they are all financial institutions regulated by the
Federal Government.
The optimum word here is, regulate. A word, which by itself, without a noun to precede it, means to
adjust by rule, method or established mode, as to regulate our manners by the customary forms; to put
in good order, as to regulate the disordered state of a nation or its finances; to subject to rules or
restrictions as to regulate trade. (Webster Dictionary, 1828)
Who is Dodd Frank?
The Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act is, in a word, the Whitehouse
Pitbull guarding the financial system of the US.

Currently, venture capital (VC) funding trends for FinTech and the developments in large categories
such as wealth management, blockchain, remittance tech, and insurance tech, certainly do seem to be
in the process of changing the face of payments and the contemporary relationship that the payments
industry has with banks.
In the aforementioned article, Dan Ciporin, general partner at Canaan Partners, is reported as saying
The future of banking lies in adopting more advanced tech like open APIs and tech enabled loan
underwriting.
If they don t adapt, big banks are at risk of becoming utilities, like Verizon ... dumb pipes, said
Ciporin, speaking at CB Insights Future of Fintech Conference held in New York back in June of this
year.
The future of banking lies in open systems, he said, which banks are simply unable to create. I just
don t think the DNA is there to do it, he added. In Ciporin s view, consumer facing FinTech startups
have arisen naturally out of the limitations in banking operations. If you think about the structure of
how banks make money, on some level they store money at extraordinarily low rates and lend it out
usually on the credit card side at extraordinarily high rates, so if you can find a way to lower that
spread you have a great business

The New Deal And Social Security Act Of 1935 Essay
Poverty, Rehabilitation, and Legislation: The New Deal and Social Security Act of 1935.
Jacquelyn R. Ward
United States History II: 1865 Present
September 27, 2016 After the Great Depression, many Americans were left disheveled. They needed
some form of financial assistance to help them get their lives back to normal. Many government
officials such as Hurbert Hoover and Franklin D. Roosevelt helped to enact bills and programs that
would assist Americans in rehabilitating their lives. The amount of unemployed workers, the
economic relief for retired workers, and the creation of legislature directed towards financial stability
all illustrate that the most important effects that the New Deal legislation had on the American
government was a liberal one..
The Great Depression left the American banking system in shambles and left the American people
broken and scared for their futures. There were several causes that led up to the enactment of the New
Deal and the Social Security Act. A major cause was Black Tuesday. This was the largest stock market
crash in U.S. history that took place on October 29, 1929. The crash happened because wealthy
Americans used their revenue to speculate in real estate and the stock market rather than invest in new
businesses. Another cause was U.S. banks issuing loans and credits to foreign governments in the
amount of billions of dollars. Prior to the Great Depression and the enactment of the FERA, relief was
based on the poor laws.

Pros And Cons Of Commerce Clause
The Commerce Clause grants Congress the power [t]o regulate commerce with foreign nations, and
among the several states, and with the Indian tribes. Despite its silence as to the effect of that
affirmative power, federal courts have recognized the Framers wish to create a unified national market
and have found a dormant congressional authority in it. Since the landmark case of Gibbons v. Ogden
(1824), that dormant authority has limited state regulations that burden interstate commerce, even in
the absence of congressional regulation. Congress has the power only to restrict the scope of
permissible state regulation but it does not absolutely preclude states from affecting commerce. [T]he
states retain authority under their police powers to regulate matters of legitimate local concern , even
though interstate commerce may be affected. A challenged statute is upheld if its effect on interstate
commerce is merely incidental. On the other hand, a state regulation that is facially or practically
discriminatory will be defeated unless it shows a legitimate local purpose that cannot be accomplished
by any less discriminatory alternatives.
Efficient use of natural resources has acquired a particular significance among other issues undergoing
the Commerce Clause review since it concerns both the individual states and the nation as a whole.
Congress fosters it by encouraging an unrestricted flow of goods across state lines and by prohibiting
states from engaging in economic

Their results showed that static analysis tools face the issue of finding many false positives/negatives
mainly because it is highly dependent on a previous set of rules or a vulnerability database that
specifies the nature of the vulnerability. Besides that, they also discussed that these tools are tied to a
specific technology/programming language, so there is no tool that can be applied to all type of
applications and accurately detects their weaknesses. Similarly, Kuperman et al
cite{kuperman2005detection} conducted a study about vulnerability prevention and mitigation
techniques for attacks that exploit the existence of buffer overflows in the code and found out that
there is no solution that can avoid all the consequences of a buffer overflow.
%Given these results, they proposed combining static analysis tools with dynamic testing to find
security holes. Their idea is to first test the program using static analysis tools and later using a
dynamic detection to confirm the existence of the weaknesses detected found in the static analysis.

Related Literature Of Blindness
Chapter 2: Review of Related Literature
Blindness may be perceived differently among individuals. It can be a blessing or a curse. It may be
physical or psychological. It can be a metaphor to show the passion that is proportionate to the loss or
gain, happiness or misery, peace or war. When our judgment is clouded by too much passion or
excessive love, there is a tendency to be blinded to the limitless pitfalls (Bady, 2016). Blindness in a
figurative sense can be seen as a split between ignorance and concealment. Literarily, it can be seen in
the following phrases Blind ignorance (lacking knowledge), blind stupor (lacking awareness), blind
prejudice (lacking a critical or questioning attitude), blind taste test (tasting without looking), blind
presentation (lacking preparation or information) (Paterson, 2014). Blindness not only means the lack
of vision but also the lack of intellectual perception. In our everyday life it can cost a lot. It necessary
then to use our sight, insight and/or foresight to be able to safeguard our happiness and avoid

Sir Richard Branson´s Influence on the Virgin Brand
Essay Sir Richard Branson is a British entrepreneur. He was born July 18th 1950 in Blackheath,
London. He is known as the founder of the Virgin brand and to be quite the adventurer. The Virgin
brand consists of more than 400 companies and to mention some of those are Virgin Atlantic, Virgin
Galactic, Virgin Trains and Virgin Mobile. He as a person has made several attempts to break
numerous world records. Although he had to try 2 times, he broke the record in fastest Atlantic Ocean
crossing with a boat. He also made a record when he crossed the English Channel in an amphibious
vehicle. In general he is very flamboyant, e.g. he made a reality show where 16 contestants should do
a lot of stunts, which could be to walk a line between two hot air balloons and business related
challenges, in order to win 1 million dollars. His role in the Virgin brand is very crucial and without
there would not be any Virgin brand. He has taken a lot of chances that many would not take and he
has made himself a front figure of the company, which means that he does all of these events and
adventures, not only because he like to discover the world in an extreme way, he also does it because
it gives the company such a high value of marketing. When he tried to cross the Atlantic Ocean the
first time, he failed and had to be rescued by a helicopter. That event made a huge media coverage all
around the world and pictures of the Virgin Atlantic Challenger, which is the boat where the Virgin

Symbolism In Woman At Point Zero
Woman at Point Zero Through Symbolism
The main point of clarification and interpretation in the story Woman at Point Zero is symbolism.
More specifically, symbolism in the story represents a reference, emotion, or an object that provides a
meaning that goes up and beyond the written meaning. From the contemporary feminist perspective,
the author Nawal El Saadawis uses the narrative speeches and symbolism to express and demonstrate
the fight and the struggle of women under marginalization and alienation. Furthermore, the reflection
in the defiance and the complexities that override the behavior of the protagonists has found its way in
the modern world. Similarly, the reflection on the story Woman at Point Zero provides a clear
reference to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In light of the above statement, the narrator alludes that only the woman has the power to determine
her value and not the man. Furthermore, Sharifa tells Firdaus that the higher she prices herself, the
more her worth increases (Saadawi 57). On the other hand, she realizes that the value of her body to
men has a monetary value attached to it. Since men desired pleasure in the novel, she had an innate
advantage when the men depended on her. Her value improved as she strengthened and continued to
build her self esteem; therefore, the more confident she felt, the more value of price she added to her
services. Intriguingly, the author uses narration to demonstrate symbolism and express a
comprehensive understanding of the predicament of women in the novel. For instance, Firdaus tears
the money just to demonstrate that money had little power over her at the time because of the
transformation she had undertaken to improve her value (Saadawi 49). Still, she wants to be paid for
more than the money for the job she does. What s more, Firdaus wants the society to recognize her as

Personally, I agree with this statement because from both authors books like Ibsen Hedda Gabler and Sophocles Oedipus The King ; the readers did not like the main characters, but the reader does sympathize. Clara Wieck Schumann and the Struggle for Equality in Nineteenth Century Germany The place of women before and during the nineteenth century is well summarized by a Bavarian statute book, which states that by marriage, the wife comes under the authority of the husband and the law allows him to chastise her moderately (Gay 177). These ideas are similarly echoed in the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen and the writings of Jean Jacques Rousseau. The former did not afford women any of the rights provided for men, such as liberty, property, resistance to oppression, voting, free speech, etc.; the latter reasoned that because women were the weaker sex, they should not (and moreover could not) be a part of society ... Also during this period, nationalism was on the rise and encompassed nearly all aspects of universities, which increasingly allowed women access to an education, opening the door for their liberation (Gay 48). Very often during this period, women experienced great monotony in their lives and became jaded with the tasks they performed day after day. While some women put up with this hackneyed life, others struggled to free themselves from it. Many not only fought for rights but against injustices their sex had sustained in previous centuries (Gay 172). The end of the nineteenth century saw an increased activism by women, who argued against their dominated position and for fundamental changes in laws (Gay 177). While there did exist some men who supported women and believed their deprivation of many rights was unjust, many more were disheartened with the advancing woman. Because men had come to relax in their domineering role, they became uncomfortable, if not fearful, when women showed their independence. This led to a bourgeois culture which can be summed up in a single word: uncertainty (Gay 48, 171). Changes were occurring at a rapid pace, and many older, more conservative citizens saw this as a time of frenzied disregard for the concrete, sustained values and morals with which they had been raised. They each also wanted to help strengthen other parts of the world. They tried to achieve these issues by enacting foreign policies in military, political and economic situations. Truman and Eisenhower each wanted to help limit the increasing issue of communism. One approach they did was getting involved physically and militarily in the countries that were in need. The peace conference at Potsdam was a failure, because communist Russia still stood on their own and as their own separate nation. Despite her notable search for an understanding of Canada that is not first mediated by an English or American aesthetic. Atwood s novels are examined in a cultural context in this study, which explores the victimization of women. Victimization includes anything that affects women s survival, specifically, victimization through physical, psychological, and economic manipulation. Atwood s novels show how society sustains victimization by holding power over women. In the past few years Guatemala is experiencing drought and it is affecting the country s farming capabilities. Recent statistics gathered by VoaNews estimate about 900,000 individuals are troubled by this issue. Like many matters, this has caused a chain reaction resulting in an increase of unemployment. Although a challenge, I envision a possible business opportunity to alter this effect. A strategy that came into mind was a tool utilized to decrease the amount of water irrigated. There is currently a watering system used for a similar purpose called the Tree T Pee (Tree T Pee Site). It would be a great approach to invest and incorporate a modification that can be used in lands abroad like Guatemala. It could also increase the employment rate and create new jobs. Despite the downfalls, Guatemala continues to be well known for its beauty and culture that comes from the indigenous people. For example, one of the most important national symbols in Guatemala is the Quetzal. • 29. Analysis Of Vic Gatrell s The Hanging Tree Essay Vic Gatrell s The Hanging Tree explores the opinions of average and lower class citizens on public hangings on England from 1770 until 1868 rather than the opinions of bureaucrats, royalty, and other elites as many similar histories do. He argues that the opinions of lower class citizens grew more and more unfavorable during this time, and the movement of executions to a private setting in the 1860s was a direct result of the diminishing support for public executions. At the same time, the gradual shift among elites and other government officials toward the abolishment of public executions was a reaction against increasingly unruly crowds and the squeamishness toward the spectacle of the execution (67). This book is organized into six sections with a total of 21 chapters. The first section describes the mentality of the audience present at public executions, and the second section covers the private opinions of plebian, or lower class citizens on execution. The third section defends Gatrell s argument that the outlawing of public executions was more of a solution to large rioting crowds than it was for humanitarian purposes. The fourth and fifth sections offer detailed accounts of specific court cases that demonstrate the unfairness and ineffectiveness of the Blood Code and public execution in England. Finally, the sixth section contains Gatrell s argument against those who deem themselves reformers who, in Gatrell s opinion, only reformed out of self interest to dispel ... • 30. Children and Traumatic Grief Nader and Salloum (2011) made clear that, at different ages, children differ in their understanding of the universality, inevitability, unpredictability, irreversibility, and causality of death. They believed, despite the increasing understanding with age of the physical aspects of death, a child may simultaneously hold more than one idea about the characteristics of death. However, factors that complete the determining nature of childhood grieving across different age groups may be a difficult task for a number of reasons including their environment in means of the support they have available, the child s nature in terms of their personality, genetics, and gender, coping skills and previous experiences, the developmental age, grieving style, whether or not therapy was received, and the relationship to the deceased (Nader Salloum, 2011). Crenshaw (2005) found that according to our current understanding of childhood traumatic grief and normal grief, thoughts and images of a traumatic nature are so terrifying, horrific, and anxiety provoking that they cause the child to avoid and shut out these thoughts and images that would be comforting reminders of the person who died. The distressing and intrusive images, reminders, and thoughts of the traumatic circumstances of the death, along with the physiological hyper arousal associated with such re experiencing, prevent the child from proceeding in a healthy way with the grieving process (Crenshaw, 2005). Intaglio was used by Assyrian merchants to identify themselves in their business transactions. The idea of intaglio is very brilliant and people around the world started to use intaglio in their trade businesses and even as a popular form of identifications in any written documents in human history until the past century. In fact, the concept of Intaglio is so good that modern technology created digital signature based on it. Following, there were many other significant inventions and progresses in the cryptography history: Skytales by Greeks, long leather strips that wrapped around when the person writes and reads; Nomenclator, manipulations of alphabets and etc. Notice that the US had not yet been mentioned in the ancient history of cryptography. The US did not contribute much at all to the growth until 18th century AD. In 1790, Thomas Jefferson invented a wheel cipher with the help of mathematician Dr. Robert Patterson. And although, the physical issues of the common citizens of Germany and India diverged essentially, the soldiers who fought for these nations obtained many parallel physical issues due to the nature of the war. In letter 138 of Omissi collection, Rajwali Khan wrote from the Kitchener s Indian Hospital to Ghulam Hussain: There is nothing but my corpse left. They have cut off the whole of one leg and one hand too is useless... There is nothing left of me. (Omissi 98). This can be correlated to when Kemmerich lost his foot, due to war sustained injuries and thus later became nothing but a corpse when he died (Remarque 14). The comparison of limbs lost in both the letters and the novel is a convergence between the two groups of soldiers. Another physical issue that both the Indian and German soldiers experienced was the lack of food, and accordingly, the constant state of hunger. In the novel, Paul remarked with us food is pretty scarce and none of it too good at that, (Remarque 189). This quotation had Paul commenting on how the food was unpalatable and limited, and there was not even enough food to feed them all. The Indian soldiers also referenced the lack of food, like how in letter 221 Shambo discussed how the home front was blessed because they get a bellyful of food, while the soldiers are starving on the battlefield (Omissi 140). This is because in the theater of war as Paul acknowledged everything gets eaten, notwithstanding, and if ever anyone is so well off as not to want all of his share, there is a dozen others standing by ready to relieve him of it, (Remarque 189). Basically, there were always people who end up with no food, no matter how much the soldiers conserved, or shared their food. Typically, this key is represented by a password, used by both the sender to encrypt the message and the recipient to decrypt it. Essentially, when the sender encrypts a message, it uses a cipher algorithm to convert the plain text of the message into cipher text. When the destination deciphers a message, it uses the corresponding deciphering algorithm to convert the cipher text back into a clear message. Traits refer to an individual s stable characteristics that predispose them to behave in particular ways across contexts (de Bruin Taylor, 2013). In other words, trait psychologists aim to assess the consistencies in an individual s behaviour in order to gain insight into the individual s general ways of interacting with people and the environment. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Our ways of interacting with others and the environment are affected by an innumerable amount of factors such as; our cultural context, the particular social situation we are placed in, our health and financial situation, relation with others, our early childhood experiences etc. Due to this, the one size fits all approach that many theoretical models of personality follow is problematic (Borghans, Duckworth, Heckman ter Weel, 2008). The approach stems from the increasing rate of globalisation: commercial companies are hiring many international employees, placing a high demand on psychologists to develop aptitude, intelligence as well as personality tests (Moyle, 2015). However, personality assessments and applications have strong use within Western countries, this means that the norms of what normal (and thereby non pathological) personality have been developed according to Western culture. Simply translating the personality test into another language and distributing it to another culture, as has been done in the past, is inappropriate and problematic. For example, personality research has demonstrated that participants with a Chinese cultural history score lower on extraversion than their Western counterparts (Cheung Cheung, 2003). It seems that the present society is totally devoid of all beauty, for the glory of the past is lost, and the buds and timid blooms of the present are fatally obscured. Yet still these people gather yearly around the massive banquet table to engage again and again in the same sort of conversation, as Gabriel himself notes: But yet, continued Gabriel, his voice falling into a softer inflection, there are always in gatherings such as this sadder thoughts that will recur to our minds: thoughts of the past, of youth, of changes, of absent faces that we miss here to night. Our path through life is strewn with many such sad memories: and were we to brood upon them always we could not find the heart to go on bravely with our work among the living. We have all of us living duties and living affections which claim, and rightly claim, our strenuous endeavors. (214) Gabriel s speech to the assembled party is in quite a strange tone. Like many other characters in Dubliners, these people are preoccupied with thoughts of those who have not lasted another Christmas. With his talk of our work among the ... With more people eating out, the demand for napkins and place mats have increased. Computer paper and poster boards have slowly increased in demand as well. However, there is concern at the company with the fixed cost of operations. Marlene Herbert, the plant superintendent, said, As we have automated our operation, we have experienced increases in fixed overhead and even variable overhead. And, we will have to add more equipment since it appears that we need even more plant capacity. We are operating over our normal capacity as it is. (Case 2B). With the new production costs added in, will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The break even point in units for computer paper is $52,000.00. Meaning to break even, you have to sell $52,000.00 of units of computer paper. The margin of safety, expressed in either dollars or a percentage, shows how much sales can be reduced without sustaining losses (Schneider, 2012). The formula to find margin of safety in dollars is: margin of safety in dollars equals the actual (or expected) costs minus the break even costs. So in the case of computer paper. The actual cost of $30,000.00 minus the break even point of $52,000.00 gives you the margin of safety of $22,000.00. Meaning you can cut the sales of computer paper by $22,000.00 and not sustain a loss. To find the break even point for napkins, you use the same formula. The fixed cost is still $420,000.00. The selling price of napkins is $7.00. The variable cost is $4.50. $7.00 minus $4.50 is $2.50. So then you take $420,000.00 and divide it by $2.50 to find the breaking point of $168,000.00. The company will have to sell $168,000.00 to break even in sales. The margin for safety for napkins is $48,000.00. This is found by subtracting the actual or expected cost of $120,000.00 by the break even point of $168,000.00. You can cut sales by $48,000.00 and not sustain a loss. The break even point for place mats is $50,000.00. This is found by the selling price per unit is $12.00. The variable price per unit of place mats is $3.60. $12.00 minus $3.60 equals $8.40. You then divide ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the aforementioned article, Dan Ciporin, general partner at Canaan Partners, is reported as saying The future of banking lies in adopting more advanced tech like open APIs and tech enabled loan underwriting. If they don t adapt, big banks are at risk of becoming utilities, like Verizon ... dumb pipes, said Ciporin, speaking at CB Insights Future of Fintech Conference held in New York back in June of this year. The future of banking lies in open systems, he said, which banks are simply unable to create. I just don t think the DNA is there to do it, he added. In Ciporin s view, consumer facing FinTech startups have arisen naturally out of the limitations in banking operations. If you think about the structure of how banks make money, on some level they store money at extraordinarily low rates and lend it out usually on the credit card side at extraordinarily high rates, so if you can find a way to lower that spread you have a great business ... • 45. The New Deal And Social Security Act Of 1935 Essay Poverty, Rehabilitation, and Legislation: The New Deal and Social Security Act of 1935. Jacquelyn R. Ward United States History II: 1865 Present September 27, 2016 After the Great Depression, many Americans were left disheveled. They needed some form of financial assistance to help them get their lives back to normal. Many government officials such as Hurbert Hoover and Franklin D. Roosevelt helped to enact bills and programs that would assist Americans in rehabilitating their lives. The amount of unemployed workers, the economic relief for retired workers, and the creation of legislature directed towards financial stability all illustrate that the most important effects that the New Deal legislation had on the American government was a liberal one.. The Great Depression left the American banking system in shambles and left the American people broken and scared for their futures. There were several causes that led up to the enactment of the New Deal and the Social Security Act. A major cause was Black Tuesday. This was the largest stock market crash in U.S. history that took place on October 29, 1929. The crash happened because wealthy Americans used their revenue to speculate in real estate and the stock market rather than invest in new businesses. Another cause was U.S. banks issuing loans and credits to foreign governments in the amount of billions of dollars. Prior to the Great Depression and the enactment of the FERA, relief was based on the poor laws. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Pros And Cons Of Commerce Clause The Commerce Clause grants Congress the power [t]o regulate commerce with foreign nations, and among the several states, and with the Indian tribes. Despite its silence as to the effect of that affirmative power, federal courts have recognized the Framers wish to create a unified national market and have found a dormant congressional authority in it. Since the landmark case of Gibbons v. Ogden (1824), that dormant authority has limited state regulations that burden interstate commerce, even in the absence of congressional regulation. Congress has the power only to restrict the scope of permissible state regulation but it does not absolutely preclude states from affecting commerce. [T]he states retain authority under their police powers to regulate matters of legitimate local concern , even though interstate commerce may be affected. A challenged statute is upheld if its effect on interstate commerce is merely incidental. On the other hand, a state regulation that is facially or practically discriminatory will be defeated unless it shows a legitimate local purpose that cannot be accomplished by any less discriminatory alternatives. Efficient use of natural resources has acquired a particular significance among other issues undergoing the Commerce Clause review since it concerns both the individual states and the nation as a whole. Congress fosters it by encouraging an unrestricted flow of goods across state lines and by prohibiting states from engaging in economic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Their results showed that static analysis tools face the issue of finding many false positives/negatives mainly because it is highly dependent on a previous set of rules or a vulnerability database that specifies the nature of the vulnerability. Besides that, they also discussed that these tools are tied to a specific technology/programming language, so there is no tool that can be applied to all type of applications and accurately detects their weaknesses. Similarly, Kuperman et al cite{kuperman2005detection} conducted a study about vulnerability prevention and mitigation techniques for attacks that exploit the existence of buffer overflows in the code and found out that there is no solution that can avoid all the consequences of a buffer overflow. %Given these results, they proposed combining static analysis tools with dynamic testing to find security holes. Their idea is to first test the program using static analysis tools and later using a dynamic detection to confirm the existence of the weaknesses detected found in the static analysis. • 48. Related Literature Of Blindness Chapter 2: Review of Related Literature Blindness may be perceived differently among individuals. It can be a blessing or a curse. It may be physical or psychological. It can be a metaphor to show the passion that is proportionate to the loss or gain, happiness or misery, peace or war. When our judgment is clouded by too much passion or excessive love, there is a tendency to be blinded to the limitless pitfalls (Bady, 2016). Blindness in a figurative sense can be seen as a split between ignorance and concealment. Literarily, it can be seen in the following phrases Blind ignorance (lacking knowledge), blind stupor (lacking awareness), blind prejudice (lacking a critical or questioning attitude), blind taste test (tasting without looking), blind presentation (lacking preparation or information) (Paterson, 2014). Blindness not only means the lack of vision but also the lack of intellectual perception. In our everyday life it can cost a lot. • 50. Symbolism In Woman At Point Zero Woman at Point Zero Through Symbolism The main point of clarification and interpretation in the story Woman at Point Zero is symbolism. More specifically, symbolism in the story represents a reference, emotion, or an object that provides a meaning that goes up and beyond the written meaning. From the contemporary feminist perspective, the author Nawal El Saadawis uses the narrative speeches and symbolism to express and demonstrate the fight and the struggle of women under marginalization and alienation. Furthermore, the reflection in the defiance and the complexities that override the behavior of the protagonists has found its way in the modern world. In light of the above statement, the narrator alludes that only the woman has the power to determine her value and not the man. Furthermore, Sharifa tells Firdaus that the higher she prices herself, the more her worth increases (Saadawi 57). On the other hand, she realizes that the value of her body to men has a monetary value attached to it. Since men desired pleasure in the novel, she had an innate advantage when the men depended on her. Her value improved as she strengthened and continued to build her self esteem; therefore, the more confident she felt, the more value of price she added to her services. Intriguingly, the author uses narration to demonstrate symbolism and express a comprehensive understanding of the predicament of women in the novel. For instance, Firdaus tears the money just to demonstrate that money had little power over her at the time because of the transformation she had undertaken to improve her value (Saadawi 49). Still, she wants to be paid for more than the money for the job she does. What s more, Firdaus wants the society to recognize her as a strong ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
