Walt Disney Company And Its International Theme Parks
Before discussing the cultural missteps taken by the Walt Disney Company (TWDC) at their
international theme parks, a quick overview of the company and its international theme parks will be
given. The Walt Disney Company is an entertainment conglomerate with business divisions in movies,
television, radio, theater, publishing, and theme parks. Since the focus of this paper is international
theme parks, only a brief history of the American theme parks will be discussed. Walt Disney thought
of the idea of the theme park one day when he took his daughters to a local park and watched them as
they rode the merry go round (Disney, 2009). Disney wanted a place where children and their parents
could have fun and enjoy the rides together (Disney, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tokyo Disneyland
Tokyo Disneyland (TDL) was the Walt Disney Company s first attempt at planning and developing an
international theme park. In the 1970 s after Walt Disney s death, the Walt Disney Company was not
doing well financially when the Oriental Land Company (OLC) approached the company about
opening a theme park in Tokyo. The Oriental Land Company, according to Raz (1999), author of
Riding the Black Ship: Japan and Tokyo Disneyland, is a partnership between two large firms in
Japan, the Mitsui Real Estate Development and Keisei Electric Railway (p.4). The Walt Disney
Company was hesitant to open a new theme park in its current financial state, but the OLC offered
them a deal that was hard to resist. The Oriental Land Company would own and operate the Tokyo
Disneyland while the Walt Disney Company would receive 10 percent of admissions fees and 5
percent of the revenues from food and souvenir sales (Raz, 1999, p. 27). The Walt Disney Company
also received licensing fees up to 20 million dollars for their characters, attractions, and more, as well
as control over the design of the park and control of park operations (Raz, 1999, p. 27; Eisner
Schwartz, 1998, p.263). Although the deal seemed alluring at the time, the Walt Disney Company
would soon come to regret the deal they made with the Oriental Land Company.
Tokyo Disneyland opened on April 15th, 1983 and is described as a carbon copy of its American
counterparts

Similarities Between The Stranger And Waiting For Godot
In Literature class, we read The Stranger by Albert Camus and Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett.
The two stories are both similar and different in many ways. I m comparing and contrasting these
stories because they both have existential themes, but the stories are presented very differently. In this
essay, I ll be comparing and contrasting three similarities and three differences between The Stranger
and Waiting for Godot . Repetition is shown in both pieces of literature. In The Stranger , Meursault s
daily schedule is repeated. He goes to the same restaurant and orders the same meal every day, which
is part of his routine. In Waiting for Godot , the character s dialogues are frequently repeated. Nothing
to be done , is one example of repetition in dialogue. In the first half dozen pages of the play the
phrase is repeated about four times. (Anonymous, schoolworkhelper.net). Additionally, the days in
Waiting for Godot are probably also repeated. In both pieces of literature, the characters freedom is
limited but the form of restriction is different. In the second part of The Stranger , Meursault s
freedom is (physically) restricted by the law. He lost his freedom because he was ordered to go to jail.
Meursault lost his freedom to live at the end of the story. On the other hand, Vladimir and Estragon s
freedom is also limited because they were waiting for Godot.
Estragon: Let s go.
Vladimir: We can t. Estragon: Why not?
Vladimir: We re waiting for

The Lord Of The Flies By William Golding
The theme of The Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, is the reason society is flawed is because
people are flawed. Although Piggy is knowledgeable, he has many flaws including his laziness and
physical inabilities. Ralph is an authority seeker. He sets rules and laws, yet does little to enforce
them. Ralph wants to be the ruler, without doing the work to enforce his laws. Jack is persistent. He is
rude, harsh and violent in order to get what he wants. He wants to be supreme. Piggy s flaws are
impactful in the story. His laziness and lack of physical ability hurt him in his quest for survival. Piggy
is incapable of completing physical undertakings. This, in turn, lowers Piggy s chance of survival on
the island. Piggy brings forth a suggestion to make a sundial clock. Ralph explains his feelings about
Piggy s ideas. ... his matter of fact ideas were dull... (Golding 65). Piggy was an outsider, not only by
accent, which did not matter, but by fat, and ass mar, and specs, and a certain disinclination for manual
labor (Golding 65). Ralph exclaims the group doesn t have the supplies for a sundial clock and thinks
Piggy is uneducated. Ralph states Piggy just thinks of impractical ideas while he sits and does no
physical labor. Piggy is different and does not blend in with the others, not only physically but he has
a unique personality as well. Ralph wants complete control of the island. He wants to be in command
of everything while he sits back and does nothing. Ralph gives

The Pit And The Raven Analysis
One way Poe demonstrates suspense in these works is through the use of an unreliable narrator. In
both of these pieces, the main character is a mysterious and untrustworthy narrator. In The Raven, the
narrator starts by saying, ONCE upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary, / While I
nodded, nearly napping (1, 3). The narrator has just awoken to the sound of knocking at his door.
While it is up for debate, the narrator could very well be dreaming or hallucinating about the raven
and the tapping, but the reader and even the narrator are waiting for a signal to explicitly show that it
is just a figment of his imagination. In the other story, The Pit and the Pendulum, the narrator is
introduced to us as criminal who has been sentenced to death. The narrator describes the moment
saying, The sentence the dread sentence of death was the last of distinct accentuation which reached
my ears [before swooning] (263). The reader discovers at the beginning of the story that the narrator
has committed a crime so terrible that he has been sentenced to death. The audience spends the whole
story trying to figure out when he will die and by which type of torment he will die to. In both of Poe s
works the narrators are unreliable characters who the reader cannot completely trust, which leads to
the suspense of waiting for the whole truth. Another literary element Poe uses in these stories to build
suspense is a mysterious tone. In The Raven, the narrator

Essay On Diversity And Diversity
In the age of globalization, harmony within diversity should be nurtured and cherished by the modern
society. According to www.dictionary.com, diversity is the state or fact of being diverse; different or
unlikeness . The word diversity can be used to describe myriad of situation in this world. However, it
is commonly used to express the diversity of culture in a country. Harmony within diversity can be
translated as peacefulness among multiracial societies that live together in a country. Fortunately,
people in Malaysia, our beloved country practice harmony within diversity. In my opinion, the
importance of the nurturing and cherishing of harmony within diversity in our country is uncountable.
First and foremost, harmony within diversity of culture in our country is the main key to promote
unity among races. Unity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our country s peacefulness among people is always admired by the foreigners. It is our honour to live
together happily regardless of race, cultural background and mother language. AsiaNews had reported
that Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who is our Deputy Prime Minister in 2006 had said that the United
Kingdom is keen to learn from the Malaysian experience in promoting tolerance and harmony
amongst its many ethnic groups by quoting his British counterpart, John Prescott, who began a four
day visit on October 28, 2006. In addition, the fusion of our people s cultures is also an attraction to
foreign travellers. For instance, architecture in Malaysia is a combination of many styles, from Islamic
and Chinese styles to those brought by European colonists. Baba Nyonya households which are made
of colourful tiles is becoming popular among travellers recently. The combinations of our people s
cultural food also become a merit of our nation. Thus, the spirit of harmonious in our people had
success in bringing honour to our country in many

The Kardashians are a mindless, self absorbed, self promoting brood of celebrity whores... and that s

In The Shadow Of Blackbirds
In The Shadow Of Blackbirds by Cat Winters is a compelling story about romance, and the afterlife.
This book review will cover the title significance, a summary, setting, main problem, main characters,
a memorable passage, and an evaluation. First, the title significance of the book. The title has two
meanings. One is that the blackbirds are Stephen s killers since he imagines them as blackbirds. It also
could be about how the soldiers in WWI saw dead people being eaten alive by blackbirds/crows. It
could also be a combination since Stephan did fight in WWI. Second, a summary of the book. The
main character is Mary Shelley Black. Her father was taken away from her after he was thought to be

He states that he s clear and decisive which isn t enough to support my claim but when followed by

he idolizes Napoleon far more than the average fan would. The comment of Napoleon going from

The Light Globe
The Light Globe The Light Globe, since its early invention, has quickly become one of the basic
essentials of the modern technological world we know of today. The multiple sources that are credited
for the creation of this fundamental force have made a major breakthrough in the way we as humans
perceive our society and how it works. Nowadays, we must acknowledge the basic element that is
light, the agent that stimulates sight and allows visibility, and not take the invention of the light globe
for granted. In this essay, I will be outlining the contributing factors such as the Inventors, When,
Where and How the Light Globe was created, What problems this invention solved and the Impacts on
the Economy, the people living throughout the Industrial Revolution, the Impacts on the existing
industries and the long term effects of the invention of the Light Globe. There are a various range of
inventors that assisted in the creation of the Light Globe. Although, many sources only worked with
small aspects such as electric batteries, lamps and developed the bulbs. The first contributing inventor
was Alessandro Volta, an Italian scientist, who invented the electric battery which was capable of
generating flowing electricity through a circuit. The next was Humphry Davy who created the first
Electric Light Globe, also known as the Arc Light, in 1809. He connected two wires to a battery and a
charcoal strip which resulted in the bulb to glow. Next, was Hans Christian Oested, a Danish

delivery of health care. Therefore, enactment of major health system reforms requires consensus
among Americans on basic values and ethics (Kardos and Allen 1993). Ironically, American beliefs
and values were not allowed a chance to play out in the political maneuvering that led to the passage
of the
ACA of 2010 (see Chapter 13).
The growth of medical science and technology (discussed in Chapter 5) has also played a key role in
shaping the US health care delivery system. Stevens (1971) points out that the technological
revolution has been primarily responsible for bringing medicine into the public domain. Advancement
of technology has influenced other factors, as well, such as medical education, growth of institutions,
and urban development. Hence, American medicine did not emerge as a professional entity until the
beginning of the 20th century, with the progress in biomedical science. Since then, the
US health care delivery system has been a growth enterprise. Debates over issues such as methods of
financing health care, quality improvement, and the appropriate role

Wiretapping In The United States
Many state legislatures in the United States enacted statutes that prohibited anybody from listening in
on telegraph communication. Telephone wiretapping began in the 1890s, following the invention of
the telephone recorder,[46] and its constitutionality was established in the Prohibition Era conviction
of bootlegger Roy Olmstead. Wiretapping has also been carried out under most Presidents, sometimes
with a lawful warrant since the Supreme Court ruled it constitutional in 1928. On October 19, 1963,
U.S. Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, who served under John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B.
Johnson, authorized the FBI to begin wiretapping the communications of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The wiretaps remained in place until April 1965 at his home and June 1966 at his office.[47] The
history of voice communication technology begins in 1876 with the invention of Alexander Graham
Bell s telephone. In the 1890s, law enforcement agencies begin tapping wires on early telephone
networks .[48] Remote voice communications were carried almost exclusively by circuit switched
systems, where telephone switches would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Good Bye Lenin Symbolism
Within the film, Good Bye, Lenin!, the transition from a Socialist society to a post Socialist nation can
be seen in the film s utilization of symbolism. Symbolism used within the film can be understood as
reflective of the actual lives of German citizens, and from this imagery, the transition to post
Socialism can be analyzed as bittersweet. Good Bye, Lenin! portrayed the conditioning of Socialist
citizens by politicians, the citizens reliance on governmental support, the westernization of East
Germany, and the gendered roles of men and women within society. Within the film s symbolic
imagery, these portrayals further resonate the bittersweet transition of Germany s society and the
reality of its citizens. It is from these various depictions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
by Alex, the film s main character. The transition is best described by Alex when he expresses his
childhood interest in the cosmonaut, Sigmund Jahn. Within the film, as Alex verbally details his
childhood interest in the cosmonaut s departure into space, a spaceship is visually seen leaving earth
for space. The departure of the spaceship from earth into space is reflective of East Germany s
transition from Socialism to post Socialism. This depiction of the cosmonaut is symbolic of how new
and foreign post Socialism was to East German citizens, as space was to Sigmund Jahn. More
importantly, the ascent into space by Jahn is also symbolic of the wanted achievements of Alex.
Furthermore, this example of symbolism allows for the interpretation of distinct feelings of those
experiencing the transition from Socialism to post Socialism may have felt to be acknowledged.
Within Socialist societies, dependency on the government to require resources and resolution upon
being given certain opportunities can be noted. During the transition to post Socialism, uncertainty of
what a society free of Socialism would consist of, and freedom to exhibit characteristics that were
condemned under Socialism can also be noted. In acknowledging the differences of feelings felt
within Germany s Socialist and post Socialist society, the transition s description as bittersweet can be

How Did Queen Elizabeth 1 Influence Society
After the death of Queen Mary I, Queen Elizabeth I became the queen of England. The death of Queen
Mary I marked the beginning of a pivotal and exceptional period of history. In 1558, after the
coronation of Queen Elizabeth I, the Elizabethan Era began. Queen Elizabeth governed prosperously
over England for 45 years before dying of blood poisoning. The era is well known for the English
Renaissance that took place during this time period that helped immensely promote the arts and
literature. Religion also transformed from Catholicism to Protestantism because of the decline of
Catholic followers and the reformation of religion. The social aspect of society stayed mostly the

One of the main motives for Elizabethan voyages of exploration was to open profitable trading routes.
The places that were to be profitable were in the far eastern areas such as India and China, whose
spices flavored and preserved Europe s meat. (Sommerville) Famous explorers like Francis Drake and
Humphrey Gilbert sought a southeast trade route from England to the far east by land and sea so that
England would be able to directly trade with India and China instead of trading through a middleman.
(Sommerville) While the British were exploring the east, they discovered lands like Africa which was
rich in natural resources. The British finding the resources led them to take over African lands, making
it an imperial country of England. Unfortunately, as time passed, the British stripped the countries
they imperialized of their natural resources and abused and oppressed the native people. Although the
Elizabethan Era is well known for widespread exploration, it, unfortunately, led to the practice of
imperialism and slavery in countries the British took over years

Throughout the FBA process teachers did report that there was a significant change in his
concentration and ability to complete work. During observations and discussion about work Owen s
teachers report they saw a night and day difference since that PPT. Parent and Student Interview:
Owen s parents were interviewed in April where they reiterated their concerns that Owen can fall
behind by not completing nightly homework and even with attempts to check his homework he is not
always honest. At home Owen likes to complete his homework by himself but will accept help.
Socially Owen has friends and is well liked by peers. At times he may not make the best choices when
with some of these friends. Owen reports that he has distanced himself from certain peers he felt was
not good for him to be around. Owen was also interviewed as part of the FBA process. The interview
was broken down and occurred over multiple sessions. During this time Owen and I, the evaluator,
discussed and trailed different interventions between our discussions. When discussing teacher
concerns regarding Owen s comments that can be considered off putting his parents shared that they
do not believe his intent is malicious but instead he is unaware of how it comes across to others. Owen
reported that he knows that occasionally he can be obnoxious but sometimes it s funny and others

King Buchadnezzar 2 Research Paper
King Nebuchadnezzar II (634 562 BCE) was the greatest king of ancient Babylon, succeeding his
father, Nabopolassar. King Nabopolassar had defeated the Assyrians with the help of the Medes and
liberated Babylonia from Assyrian rule. In this way he provided for his son (as Philip II would do for
his son Alexander later) a stable base and ample wealth on which to build an opportunity for greatness
which Nebuchadnezzar took full advantage of. Nebuchadnezzar II defeated the Egyptians and their
allies the Assyrians at Carchemish, subdued Palestine and the region of Syria and, consolidating his
power, controlled all the trade routes across Mesopotamia from the Persian Gulf to the Mediterranean
Sea. Remaining true to the vision of his inaugural address, the great king spent the tolls he collected
and the taxes he gathered in creating a city which, he hoped, would be recognized as a wonder of the
world (and, indeed, his hopes were realized in later writers adding the walls of Babylon and, in
particular, the Ishtar gate to the list of the Seven Wonders of the World). In the forty three years of his
reign, Nebuchadnezzar II made the most of the time employing a vast army of slave labor to surround
his city with walls so thick that chariot races were conducted around the tops and which stretched fifty
six miles in length, encircling an area of two hundred square miles.

Investigating The Hardness Of River Tank And Tap Water
Water Hardness EEI
The aim of this investigation is to use a quantitative method to determine the hardness of river, tank
and tap water. Using chemicals including pH 10 buffer solution, Eriochrome Black T Indicator, 0.01M
magnesium chloride and 0.01M EDTA solution the milligrams of calcium carbonate per litre of the
three water samples (river, tank and tap) was tested. Using this method, it was discovered that river
water had the highest concentration of calcium carbonate of the samples, therefore was the hardest
water sample tested, whilst the tank water had the lowest concentration of calcium carbonate,
therefore it was the softest of the water samples. This investigation proved the hypothesis and the
quantitative method used worked ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bonding within the water molecule and the interaction between the water molecules causes the
molecules to organise themselves in a bent shape. Both a space model and electron dot diagram of a
water molecule have been supplied in the appendix Image 1. Water has many unique properties, which
has allowed life to exist: for example, if ice didn t have a lower density than water, the oceans would
have frozen from the bottom up, killing all forms of life. Water is denser than ice because the
molecules in ice are further from each other than they are in water. Another property of water is that it
is a good solvent and is often called the universal solvent because of the number and variety of
substances that dissolve in it, including inorganic salts like sodium chloride separate. This is because
the cations are attracted to the negative end of the water molecule (the oxygen atom) while anions are
attracted to the positive end of the water molecule (the hydrogen atoms). The separated ions are then
surrounded by water molecules and are said to be hydrated ions. However, the presence of different
solutes, such as sodium chloride, can change some of the properties of water. One thing solutes often
do is decrease the freezing point and increase the boiling point. This adjustment can then be used as an
advantage, for example, when 76g of ethylene glycol, or antifreeze, is added to 1000g

Controlling Cell Fate in Zebrafish
Over the past years, there have been many conflicting views over weather or not rest has an effect on
controlling cell fate. There has been previous studies that have indicated that the rest gene influences
gene expression. Researchers at the State University of New York at Stony Brook have taken it upon
themselves to determine if it is in fact true. By using methods like zinc finger nuclease and
quantitative PCR, they were able to find reliable evidence that: rest in zebrafish does have an
influencing affect on neural specific gene expression but it fails to have many significant effects on
zebrafish neurogenesis. First of all, lets look at why exactly scientists choose to work on zebrafish.
Zebrafish was chosen by George Streisinger who was looking for a vertebrae model system to do
work on genetics. It would appear that zebrasfish have some qualities that particularly makes them an
exceptional choice for study. They are easy to maintain, manipulate (ability to microinject DNA, RNA
and proteins into) and have many offspring rather rapidly. Another really interesting quality of
zebrafish is that in the first few days of embryonic development, embryons are transparent, which
allows imaging of cell movement and gene expression. Embryos also develop rather quickly; therefore
scientists could do testing sooner then would be capable if mammals were used. Now lets look at what
exactly is the rest protein. From what research has determined previously, we believe the rest

Christian Values In The Epic Of Beowulf
Written by a christian poet, the epic of Beowulf clearly outlines that failure to avenge an assault is
considered shameful. However, Christian values say to just turn the other cheek . It is interesting how
this epic poem can have both values at once, because of their clearly cut out contradictions.
Throughout the epic of Beowulf, Christian philosophy is represented in many ways, like how God
protects them from being killed, how God provides them with everything they need in life. However,
there is also a strong, contradicting sense of pageanism and heroic code displayed by Beowulf which
is mostly conflicting with christianity. In the epic Beowulf, Beowulf is portrayed as an internally
conflicted character who while avenging Escher s death, appealing to God for victory and reveling in
his own glory, vacillates between adhering to Christian and pagan values. ... Show more content on

However, later credits all of his glory to God. The christian bible states, If you forgive those who sin
against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father
will not forgive your sins. (NLT, Matthew 6:14 15). Nonetheless, Beowulf doesn t forgive Grendel s
mom, follows the heroic code and takes revenge, and kills her for killing Aescher. He states It is better
for us all to avenge our friends Through this act, Beowulf shows his orientation towards the Heroic
code, that sets Failure to avenge an assault is considered shameful . However, Beowulf still credits his
victory to God, stating God gives us guidance to those who can find it by no one else This shows his
internal conflict, how he can t decide between pageanism and christianity. On one side, he does
pagean acts that contradict with christian values, but on the other side, he still believes his victory is
all because of God, who is clearly opposing of all pagean

Should Photojournalism or Documentary Photography Be...
A photograph is not merely a substitute for a glance. It is a sharpened vision. It is the revelation of
new and important facts. ( Heilbrunn Timeline of Art History. ). Sid Grossman, a Photo League
photographer expressed this sentiment, summarizing the role photography had on America in the 1940
s and 50 s. During this era, photojournalism climaxed, causing photographers to join the bandwagon
or react against it. The question of whether photography can be art was settled a long time ago. Most
major museums now have photography departments, and the photographs procure pretty hefty prices.
The question of whether photojournalism or documentary photography can be art is now the question
at hand. Art collectors are constantly looking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He felt that FSA photographers used stylistic elements such as sharp focus, even lighting, and frontal
composition to mark their images as factual and that they should be read as unbiased. He felt that the
work should be described as documentary style.
American photographers of the late 1950 s and 60 s reinvented the documentary tradition.
Photographers like Diane Arbus, Garry Winogrand, and lee Friedlander looked at the world through
the astonish me viewpoint. Diane Nemerove, or better known as Diane Arbus, was an American
Documentary Photographer known for her compelling, yet often disturbing portraits of people from
the edges of society. An example is the 1962 image of The Boy with the Hand Grenade in Central
Park. As a native New Yorker, Diane Arbus photographed the people of the city, but not just the
everyday. Arbus sought out those at the edge of society. She depicts the daily life, but with an
emphasis on the abnormality of the commonplace. When looking at the image of the boy in 1962, the
child seems no different from other children; his facial expression communicating a frustration beyond
the specific image. You see a boy with the strap of his shorts awkwardly hanging from his shoulder,
with his arms tense and his hands clenched in frustration; a toy replica hand grenade in his

The Cash Flow Sensitivity of Sash
Research Question Does the link between financial constraints and firms demand for liquidity can
help us identify whether financial constraints are an important determinant of firm behavior.
Contribution Previous scholars, Fazzari, Hubbard, and Petersen, proposed that investment activities of
a firm is limited by the firm s financial situation, which is called financial constraints. When firms
face financial constraints, the firm s investment cash flow sensitivity is high. When a firm face no
financial constraints, its investment cash flow sensitivity is low. However this theory was doubtful by
some scholars. In 1997, Kaplan and Zingales propose an exactly opposite theory. In 2001, ... Show

The authors further test the intuition of our argument by investigating firms propensity to save cash
out of cash inflow over the business cycle.
Result
The authors use two alternative method to empirically model the cash flow sensitivity of cash. The
first model only include proxies: cash flow and investment opportunities. The second model is
estimated from a method in which a firm s decision to change its cash holdings is modeled as a
function of a number of sources and uses of funds. The result reported in table III is related to the first
model. The set of constrained firms shows significantly positive sensitivities of cash to cash flow
sensitivities. The sensitivity estimates for constrained firms are between 0.051 and 0.062 and are all
statistically significant at better than the 1% level.
The result reported in table IV is related to the second model. This finding is consistent with the view
that there are systematic difference between constrained and unconstrained firms in the way they
conduct their cash policies.
Paper s Findings
By conducting this study, the authors conclude that financial constraints and firm s liquidity demand
can help identify whether financial constraints can

I Wandered Lonely As A Cloud Analysis
Analyzing Figurative Language of: I wandered Lonely as a Cloud by Williams Wordsworth. I decided
to choose this poem, I wandered lonely as a Cloud by Williams Wordsworth because it pictures a
beautiful natural scene in the mind of the readers. I love natural beauty and flowers and I can easily
relate this poem to the marigold flowers I have planted this summer. I like this poem because it makes
one feel good about the world, even if you re lonely. Even though I don t have a back yard garden, the
sight of these flowers gently dancing in the breeze makes me feel like in a garden with so many plants
and trees. This poem also brings out the author s love for nature and how elegantly he describes a host
of daffodils beside a lake. The figurative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poet who was idle in the beginning of the poem is now quite excited by the sight of the daffodils
beside the lake. He uses personification to describe the golden daffodils dancing and fluttering in the
breeze. The figurative language used here conveys that the monotonous tone of the poem suddenly
shifted to a quite lively and cheerful tone. In the above mentioned stanza, the poet used imagery that
helped the readers to create a beautiful scenic image in their minds. Here the figurative language is
important because the beauty of the poem lies in the imagery that the poet

Nba Fans Research Paper
On The NBA Fans Created by Jim Naismith in 1891, the game of basketball has grown into something
no one ever thought it could be. The sport today is worshipped by millions of people across the globe.
Professionals call those millions who love and watch it fans. Fans buy their favorite team s shoes,
clothes, balls, and sometimes even cars. Millions of fans talk about their teams on social media, rant
on message boards, and talk smack to each other on their phones. The National Basketball Association
has taken over tons of people s lives, and not just the players and coaches. The fans of the NBA form a
large community in a variety of countries. Every day, thousands of people fill stadiums, bars, and their
mother s couches to cheer on their team for the big game. This community of fans plays a bigger role
in NBA than most people would think. Without people buying tickets and merchandise, the teams
could not generate enough revenue, and therefore not pay their players and staff. Fans are what ...

Communities thrive on diversity and it overall makes them stronger as a whole. When Ramon Llamas
was asked about the community of fans that surrounds the NBA, he simply stated, Divided into their
separate teams the [NBA] fans don t form a community, but the fans as a whole definitely do because
all of them have love and respect for the game. What Llamas is saying is that if the fans separate into
their teams they all have private communities. If they are all fans of the NBA and basketball itself,
they come together as one strong, diverse group and form a community. I completely agree with him

  • 2. Walt Disney Company And Its International Theme Parks Before discussing the cultural missteps taken by the Walt Disney Company (TWDC) at their international theme parks, a quick overview of the company and its international theme parks will be given. The Walt Disney Company is an entertainment conglomerate with business divisions in movies, television, radio, theater, publishing, and theme parks. Since the focus of this paper is international theme parks, only a brief history of the American theme parks will be discussed. Walt Disney thought of the idea of the theme park one day when he took his daughters to a local park and watched them as they rode the merry go round (Disney, 2009). Disney wanted a place where children and their parents could have fun and enjoy the rides together (Disney, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tokyo Disneyland Tokyo Disneyland (TDL) was the Walt Disney Company s first attempt at planning and developing an international theme park. In the 1970 s after Walt Disney s death, the Walt Disney Company was not doing well financially when the Oriental Land Company (OLC) approached the company about opening a theme park in Tokyo. The Oriental Land Company, according to Raz (1999), author of Riding the Black Ship: Japan and Tokyo Disneyland, is a partnership between two large firms in Japan, the Mitsui Real Estate Development and Keisei Electric Railway (p.4). The Walt Disney Company was hesitant to open a new theme park in its current financial state, but the OLC offered them a deal that was hard to resist. The Oriental Land Company would own and operate the Tokyo Disneyland while the Walt Disney Company would receive 10 percent of admissions fees and 5 percent of the revenues from food and souvenir sales (Raz, 1999, p. 27). The Walt Disney Company also received licensing fees up to 20 million dollars for their characters, attractions, and more, as well as control over the design of the park and control of park operations (Raz, 1999, p. 27; Eisner Schwartz, 1998, p.263). Although the deal seemed alluring at the time, the Walt Disney Company would soon come to regret the deal they made with the Oriental Land Company. • 3. Similarities Between The Stranger And Waiting For Godot In Literature class, we read The Stranger by Albert Camus and Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett. The two stories are both similar and different in many ways. I m comparing and contrasting these stories because they both have existential themes, but the stories are presented very differently. In this essay, I ll be comparing and contrasting three similarities and three differences between The Stranger and Waiting for Godot . Repetition is shown in both pieces of literature. In The Stranger , Meursault s daily schedule is repeated. He goes to the same restaurant and orders the same meal every day, which is part of his routine. In Waiting for Godot , the character s dialogues are frequently repeated. Nothing to be done , is one example of repetition in dialogue. In the first half dozen pages of the play the phrase is repeated about four times. (Anonymous, schoolworkhelper.net). Additionally, the days in Waiting for Godot are probably also repeated. In both pieces of literature, the characters freedom is limited but the form of restriction is different. In the second part of The Stranger , Meursault s freedom is (physically) restricted by the law. He lost his freedom because he was ordered to go to jail. Meursault lost his freedom to live at the end of the story. On the other hand, Vladimir and Estragon s freedom is also limited because they were waiting for Godot. Estragon: Let s go. Vladimir: We can t. Estragon: Why not? Vladimir: We re waiting for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Lord Of The Flies By William Golding The theme of The Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, is the reason society is flawed is because people are flawed. Although Piggy is knowledgeable, he has many flaws including his laziness and physical inabilities. Ralph is an authority seeker. He sets rules and laws, yet does little to enforce them. Ralph wants to be the ruler, without doing the work to enforce his laws. Jack is persistent. He is rude, harsh and violent in order to get what he wants. He wants to be supreme. Piggy s flaws are impactful in the story. His laziness and lack of physical ability hurt him in his quest for survival. Piggy is incapable of completing physical undertakings. This, in turn, lowers Piggy s chance of survival on the island. Piggy brings forth a suggestion to make a sundial clock. Ralph explains his feelings about Piggy s ideas. ... his matter of fact ideas were dull... (Golding 65). Piggy was an outsider, not only by accent, which did not matter, but by fat, and ass mar, and specs, and a certain disinclination for manual labor (Golding 65). Ralph exclaims the group doesn t have the supplies for a sundial clock and thinks Piggy is uneducated. Ralph states Piggy just thinks of impractical ideas while he sits and does no physical labor. Piggy is different and does not blend in with the others, not only physically but he has a unique personality as well. Ralph wants complete control of the island. He wants to be in command of everything while he sits back and does nothing. Ralph gives ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Pit And The Raven Analysis One way Poe demonstrates suspense in these works is through the use of an unreliable narrator. In both of these pieces, the main character is a mysterious and untrustworthy narrator. In The Raven, the narrator starts by saying, ONCE upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary, / While I nodded, nearly napping (1, 3). The narrator has just awoken to the sound of knocking at his door. While it is up for debate, the narrator could very well be dreaming or hallucinating about the raven and the tapping, but the reader and even the narrator are waiting for a signal to explicitly show that it is just a figment of his imagination. In the other story, The Pit and the Pendulum, the narrator is introduced to us as criminal who has been sentenced to death. The narrator describes the moment saying, The sentence the dread sentence of death was the last of distinct accentuation which reached my ears [before swooning] (263). The reader discovers at the beginning of the story that the narrator has committed a crime so terrible that he has been sentenced to death. The audience spends the whole story trying to figure out when he will die and by which type of torment he will die to. In both of Poe s works the narrators are unreliable characters who the reader cannot completely trust, which leads to the suspense of waiting for the whole truth. Another literary element Poe uses in these stories to build suspense is a mysterious tone. In The Raven, the narrator ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The multiple sources that are credited for the creation of this fundamental force have made a major breakthrough in the way we as humans perceive our society and how it works. Nowadays, we must acknowledge the basic element that is light, the agent that stimulates sight and allows visibility, and not take the invention of the light globe for granted. In this essay, I will be outlining the contributing factors such as the Inventors, When, Where and How the Light Globe was created, What problems this invention solved and the Impacts on the Economy, the people living throughout the Industrial Revolution, the Impacts on the existing industries and the long term effects of the invention of the Light Globe. There are a various range of inventors that assisted in the creation of the Light Globe. Although, many sources only worked with small aspects such as electric batteries, lamps and developed the bulbs. The first contributing inventor was Alessandro Volta, an Italian scientist, who invented the electric battery which was capable of generating flowing electricity through a circuit. Telephone wiretapping began in the 1890s, following the invention of the telephone recorder,[46] and its constitutionality was established in the Prohibition Era conviction of bootlegger Roy Olmstead. Wiretapping has also been carried out under most Presidents, sometimes with a lawful warrant since the Supreme Court ruled it constitutional in 1928. On October 19, 1963, U.S. Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, who served under John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson, authorized the FBI to begin wiretapping the communications of Rev. Symbolism used within the film can be understood as reflective of the actual lives of German citizens, and from this imagery, the transition to post Socialism can be analyzed as bittersweet. Good Bye, Lenin! portrayed the conditioning of Socialist citizens by politicians, the citizens reliance on governmental support, the westernization of East Germany, and the gendered roles of men and women within society. The departure of the spaceship from earth into space is reflective of East Germany s transition from Socialism to post Socialism. • 24. King Buchadnezzar 2 Research Paper King Nebuchadnezzar II (634 562 BCE) was the greatest king of ancient Babylon, succeeding his father, Nabopolassar. King Nabopolassar had defeated the Assyrians with the help of the Medes and liberated Babylonia from Assyrian rule. In this way he provided for his son (as Philip II would do for his son Alexander later) a stable base and ample wealth on which to build an opportunity for greatness which Nebuchadnezzar took full advantage of. Nebuchadnezzar II defeated the Egyptians and their allies the Assyrians at Carchemish, subdued Palestine and the region of Syria and, consolidating his power, controlled all the trade routes across Mesopotamia from the Persian Gulf to the Mediterranean Sea. Remaining true to the vision of his inaugural address, the great king spent the tolls he collected and the taxes he gathered in creating a city which, he hoped, would be recognized as a wonder of the world (and, indeed, his hopes were realized in later writers adding the walls of Babylon and, in particular, the Ishtar gate to the list of the Seven Wonders of the World). In the forty three years of his reign, Nebuchadnezzar II made the most of the time employing a vast army of slave labor to surround his city with walls so thick that chariot races were conducted around the tops and which stretched fifty six miles in length, encircling an area of two hundred square miles. ... Using chemicals including pH 10 buffer solution, Eriochrome Black T Indicator, 0.01M magnesium chloride and 0.01M EDTA solution the milligrams of calcium carbonate per litre of the three water samples (river, tank and tap) was tested. Using this method, it was discovered that river water had the highest concentration of calcium carbonate of the samples, therefore was the hardest water sample tested, whilst the tank water had the lowest concentration of calcium carbonate, therefore it was the softest of the water samples. The bonding within the water molecule and the interaction between the water molecules causes the molecules to organise themselves in a bent shape. Both a space model and electron dot diagram of a water molecule have been supplied in the appendix Image 1. Water has many unique properties, which has allowed life to exist: for example, if ice didn t have a lower density than water, the oceans would have frozen from the bottom up, killing all forms of life. Water is denser than ice because the molecules in ice are further from each other than they are in water. Another property of water is that it is a good solvent and is often called the universal solvent because of the number and variety of substances that dissolve in it, including inorganic salts like sodium chloride separate. This is because the cations are attracted to the negative end of the water molecule (the oxygen atom) while anions are attracted to the positive end of the water molecule (the hydrogen atoms). The separated ions are then surrounded by water molecules and are said to be hydrated ions. However, the presence of different solutes, such as sodium chloride, can change some of the properties of water. One thing solutes often do is decrease the freezing point and increase the boiling point. This adjustment can then be used as an advantage, for example, when 76g of ethylene glycol, or antifreeze, is added to 1000g ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. Controlling Cell Fate in Zebrafish Over the past years, there have been many conflicting views over weather or not rest has an effect on controlling cell fate. There has been previous studies that have indicated that the rest gene influences gene expression. Researchers at the State University of New York at Stony Brook have taken it upon themselves to determine if it is in fact true. By using methods like zinc finger nuclease and quantitative PCR, they were able to find reliable evidence that: rest in zebrafish does have an influencing affect on neural specific gene expression but it fails to have many significant effects on zebrafish neurogenesis. First of all, lets look at why exactly scientists choose to work on zebrafish. Zebrafish was chosen by George Streisinger who was looking for a vertebrae model system to do work on genetics. It would appear that zebrasfish have some qualities that particularly makes them an exceptional choice for study. They are easy to maintain, manipulate (ability to microinject DNA, RNA and proteins into) and have many offspring rather rapidly. Another really interesting quality of zebrafish is that in the first few days of embryonic development, embryons are transparent, which allows imaging of cell movement and gene expression. Embryos also develop rather quickly; therefore scientists could do testing sooner then would be capable if mammals were used. Now lets look at what exactly is the rest protein. From what research has determined previously, we believe the rest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 28. Christian Values In The Epic Of Beowulf Written by a christian poet, the epic of Beowulf clearly outlines that failure to avenge an assault is considered shameful. However, Christian values say to just turn the other cheek . It is interesting how this epic poem can have both values at once, because of their clearly cut out contradictions. Throughout the epic of Beowulf, Christian philosophy is represented in many ways, like how God protects them from being killed, how God provides them with everything they need in life. However, there is also a strong, contradicting sense of pageanism and heroic code displayed by Beowulf which is mostly conflicting with christianity. In the epic Beowulf, Beowulf is portrayed as an internally conflicted character who while avenging Escher s death, appealing to God for victory and reveling in his own glory, vacillates between adhering to Christian and pagan values. ... Nonetheless, Beowulf doesn t forgive Grendel s mom, follows the heroic code and takes revenge, and kills her for killing Aescher. The Cash Flow Sensitivity of Sash Research Question Does the link between financial constraints and firms demand for liquidity can help us identify whether financial constraints are an important determinant of firm behavior. Contribution Previous scholars, Fazzari, Hubbard, and Petersen, proposed that investment activities of a firm is limited by the firm s financial situation, which is called financial constraints. When firms face financial constraints, the firm s investment cash flow sensitivity is high. When a firm face no financial constraints, its investment cash flow sensitivity is low. The authors further test the intuition of our argument by investigating firms propensity to save cash out of cash inflow over the business cycle. Result The authors use two alternative method to empirically model the cash flow sensitivity of cash. The first model only include proxies: cash flow and investment opportunities. The second model is estimated from a method in which a firm s decision to change its cash holdings is modeled as a function of a number of sources and uses of funds. The result reported in table III is related to the first model. The set of constrained firms shows significantly positive sensitivities of cash to cash flow sensitivities. The sensitivity estimates for constrained firms are between 0.051 and 0.062 and are all statistically significant at better than the 1% level. The result reported in table IV is related to the second model. This finding is consistent with the view that there are systematic difference between constrained and unconstrained firms in the way they conduct their cash policies.
