Legalization of Medical Marijuana Essay
Medical Marijuana: A Topic Leaving People Up in Smoke Renee Grant ENC 1101 1002 Professor
Bahle March 30, 2013 Medical Marijuana: A Topic Leaving People Up in Smoke Medical marijuana
has been an ongoing fight between the federal government, physicians and patients. Contrary to many
beliefs, marijuana, whether it is used for medical reasons or recreational is non lethal. It has been
proven to be useful in many medical conditions. There has been no evidence of an individual
overdosing on marijuana, but there have been a tremendous number of deaths related to prescription
drugs, and over the counter medications. The legalizing of medical marijuana will change the lives of

What better way to elevate their pain by allowing them to use a plant that has been around for
thousands of years. It is cheaper than prescription medications, and one would not have to worry about
all the possible side effects that prescription medications contribute to, as in effects on the heart,
kidneys, and liver. Pharmacies will be hit the hardest when medical marijuana is legalized. It is
cheaper for patients to grow their own medication. Some scientists are still working on how they can
make a synthetic form of THC that can be put into capsule form. Is a synthetic form safe? This is still
unclear. Physicians who are able to prescribe medical marijuana need to keep a watchful eye out for
those that claim to have a disease just so that they can get their marijuana legally. Tax payers are
spending billions of dollars each year to fight the war on marijuana. The effort has done nothing,
where are the billions of dollars going? Physicians that prescribe medical marijuana to their patients
are not promoting smoking by any means; they are just helping relive pain of their suffering patients.
While there will be a continuing battle against medical marijuana for years to come there have been 16
states, including Washington D.C that have enacted laws to legalize medical marijuana: California
1996, Alaska 1998, Oregon 1998, Washington 1998, Maine 1999, Colorado 2000, Hawaii 2000,

Essay about The Power of Angels in America
The Power of Angels in America
Such ethical possibility is, however, founded on and coextensive with the subject s movement toward
what Foucault calls care of the self, the often very fragile concern to provide the self with pleasure and
nourishment in an environment that is perceived not particularly to offer them. Eve Kosofsky

Demanding that life near AIDS is an inextricably other reality denies our ability to recreate a

Rogoff s Angels in America, Devils in the Wings is an article that s decidedly critical of the Broadway
production of Tony Kushner s Angels in America: Millennium Approaches. He begins his critique
with as one who lives a life rather than a lifestyle, I m not sure what a gay play, let alone a gay fantasia
might be (21). As one who lives a life rather than a lifestyle myself, I find this opening to the essay to
conjure linguistic maneuvers of the conservative right used to dismiss the grievances of gay men.
While I may be going out on a limb in this analysis, most often the binary life vs. lifestyle is code for
heterosexual vs. homosexual in short, gays and lesbians don t live lives but rather we live lifestyles.
Ours are mockeries of real lives, thus requiring the supplemental style. Rogoff is not sure what a gay
play...might be. In truth, this is no easy question, and there are no easy answers to it. Are the plays of
Tennessee Williams, such as Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and The Glass Menagerie gay plays, since the
author was gay? Or do only his later works qualify as gay plays, as they focused specifically on gay
material? Are any of the plays of William Shakespeare gay plays, for that matter? Or is this an
appellation reserved for post Stonewall, politically oriented gay plays? These could potentially be very

A Business Perspective Of Management Discipline
1. From a business perspective why is management discipline important? Compare and contrast the
management discipline to medicine and law (how are these similar and how are they different be
specific in your explanations and provide examples to support your response).
From a business perspective management discipline is as important as the next key factor to company
success because it, ...drives the field forward (Magretta, 9). Having discipline can help to set

This can affect many people, but typically the decision is the right one for the company and its people.
Medical people and people working in law have much less time and resources to make decisions. This
can ultimately affect decision makers. But thankfully, managers, medical personnel, and law
enforcement officers are all trained, regardless of time, or resources on how to effectively and
successfully make tough decisions for the betterment of situations, people, and other factors related to
the respective fields.
2. What is the goal of the Magretta book, What Management Is? Support your response with specific
page numbers from your readings in APA style.
Most books can be broken down into one or several main goals. This book, What Management is? Is
no different. The foremost goal of this book is to present a coherent view of the whole, of the work
known as general management (Magretta, 9). Furthermore, the goal includes the attempt to deliver a
concise synthesis of important ideas and practices. For instance, value creation, business models,
competitive strategies, performance metrics and more (Magretta, 9). In simple terms this book aims to
directly allow readers to easily and purposefully understand the main theory of management and why
it is important to not just employees and business, but to the entire globe. What Management is? Looks

Why Did Phoenicians Spread Across The Mediterranean
The Phoenicians spread across the Mediterranean using this knowledge. First in Cyprus and then
Northern Africa, Western Sicily, the islands of Corsica and Sardinia and Southern France, they spread
across the sea looking for new people to trade with always setting up trade posts in the cities they
found spread across the region, as their interaction with the city grew over time and in turn their
influence till eventually these cities became Phoenician colonies through immersion as most of these
colonies had evidence of occupation before the arrival of the Phoenicians. Many believe that their
ability to start expanding across the Mediterranean ties with the alliance between King Hiram of Tyre
and King Solomon of Israel, as gaining an ally that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As such the trade cities were either founded around natural harbors or bays such as in the cities of
Palermo, Soluntum, Málaga, Cártama and Tangier to name a few . This allowed for the ships to come
right up against the city to be loaded up with goods that would be either brought back to Phoenicia or
traded to other peoples, it also allowed them to easily defend their ships as any enemy by land would
have to get through the city set up around it and by sea would have to sail just as close to the shore to
deal any damage to the Phoenician ships . The next type of place is a headland that jutted out into the
sea where ships could be harbored on either side such as the cities of Nora and Tharros on Sardinia,
Marsala on Sicily and Mogador in Morocco . Again, this set up allows for the ships to be defended as
by land the enemy would have to travel all the way up to the headland and by sea any ship would have
to face defenses placed at the top of the headland. Now the last three cities are special cases as they
are setup a little differently but all follow the two categories as stated above. The city of Motya on the
Western tip of Sicily is set up on the island now known as San Pantaleo, however it is in the middle of
a natural lagoon and is protected from the sea by Isola Grande

The Last Book in the Universe takes place in a post apocalyptic setting with the main character Spaz.
The name of the author who made The Last Book in the Universe is Rodman Philbrick. The main
character Spaz has a condition called Epilepsy which is why he was named Spaz. His character really
changed throughout the story and you start to learn about his history. Spaz is definitely one of the most
interesting characters throughout the book. Another interesting character in the book would be Lanaya

Statement of Purpose for Linfield College s Athletic...
I would like to become a certified athletic trainer through the Linfield program because of my love for
sports and medicine. I was involved in a number of sports throughout my life and have gone through a
number of injuries. There is one injury in particular that sparked my interest in athletic training. I was
playing soccer at Chemeketa Community College when I broke my foot. I spent many hours with the
athletic trainer there Julie Speck (PT/ATC/R), who gave me the opportunity to work with her in the
training room. She also sparked another interest and that is to get my dual credentials in athletic
training and physical therapy. I see myself using both degrees in the future like my mentor Julie Spark
(PT/ATC/R). She works in a hospital as a physical therapist and is contracted out to Chemeketa
Community College as an athletic trainer. This is exactly what I plan to do with both my degrees. As
an athletic trainer there are many qualities you must possess. One, unique qualities that I have is being
naturally competitive. My competitive nature makes me want to be the best at everything I m doing. It
motivates me to try my hardest to accomplish my goals. Handle stress is also an important quality that
I possess. The training center can seem a stressful at times with so many people coming in and out. I
can not only handle this stress but thrive in this kind of environment. I m a very sports oriented person
and that s something I share with the athletes. I understand

The Nitya Ras
The religious performance of Ras Lila is based around the deities Krishna and Radha, two prominent
gods within Hindu culture and religious practice. Beginning with the Nitya Ras, a representation of
Radha and Krishna making love to each other through sacred song and dance, and eventually
progresses to the Lila at the end, which includes text, song, and dance of events from when Krishna
visited earth. (177 178) Halfway through is an intermission during which the Maharaj ji appears
onstage by stepping through a curtain upstage and walks toward one of the corners. The music
becomes quiet and then he pauses before lowering himself to the floor and bowing so that his forehead
touches it. The goal and symbolism of this action is that he doesn t see the performers as actors but
rather 5,000 year old people. (Mason). The Nitya Ras begins with the actors playing Krishna, Radha,
and their servants along with the musicians taking their places on the stage, after which the curtain
raises revealing the performers. Song and dance establishes a joyous mood, and Krishna preaches

depending on the troupe that is performing and where the performance is held. In addition to dance,
there are twenty minute intervals that include dialogue between Krishna and Radha called jhankis.
Jhankis are tableaus during which the actors playing the deities hold in place and pose. (Mason).

Symbolic Interactionism Theory
Conflict and symbolic interactionism theories can help explain the necessary power level
preconditions of police brutality against black bodies. Police brutality is a form of Institutional racism
in the way policies and laws are crafted and put into practice, such as the decades long set of policing
and legal policies known as The War on Drugs, which has disproportionately targeted neighbourhoods
and communities that are predominantly black. The police force is one of the most visible features of

Critically Evaluate How the Situational Model of...
Introduction
Saddam Hussein was the President of Iraq from 1979 to 2003 and during his time in office was
responsible for a tumultuous period in Iraqi history. For the purposes of analysis of his leadership style
with respect to a Situational model, three areas of his career will be looked at separately; his rise to
presidency from Vice President, during the Iran Iraq War and post invasion of Kuwait.
Situational model of leadership
A widely recognised situational model is the model developed by Hersey and Blanchard (1969) and
the revised model by Blanchard et al. (1985) (Northhouse, 2007). The theory in outline states that one
s leadership style should be dictated by the type of situation and the demands of the situation at ...

This leadership style needs to be used sparingly since workers can often burn out due to the
demanding pace of the style.
Democratic Leaders: The Democratic Leadership Style gives members of the work group a vote or a
say in nearly every decision the team makes. When used effectively, the democratic leader builds
flexibility and responsibility and can help identify new ways to do things with fresh ideas. Care should
be taken due to the level of personal involvement required by this style and the decision making
process itself can be very time consuming.
Affiliative Leaders: The Affiliative Leadership Style is most effective in situations where morale is
low or teambuilding is needed. This leader is easily recognized by their theme of employee first.
Employees can expect much praise from this style; unfortunately, poor performance may also go
without reprimand.
#8195;
Authoritative Leaders: If your business seems to be drifting aimlessly, the Authoritative Leadership
Style can be very effective in this type of situation. The authoritative leader is an expert in dealing
with the problems and challenges at hand and can clearly identify goals that will lead to success. This
leader also allows the employees themselves to figure out the best way to achieve those goals.
Coercive Leaders: The Coercive Leadership Style should be used with caution because it is based on
the concept of command and

Essay on History and Memory
Gate 42 Analysis
Throughout gate 42, Mark Baker combines both assumed history and a plethora of evocative language
techniques to recreate the death of his grandmother, Hinda. From such a technique, one can infer that
when history and memory combine, the interplay allows a heightened understanding and perceptive
insight into events of the past; specifically the Holocaust.
Such a theory becomes evident within the opening of Gate 42, as Baker uses the repetitive symbol of a
Jewish poem to draw the reader within the text, allowing an emotional engagement to the horrors of
the Holocaust. Acting as a metaphor for the human condition, the humbling lover case i gives a
profound insight into the attitudes of the Jews, forced to believe they ... Show more content on

It is here that the power of representation becomes evident, as by utilizing both History and Memory,
Baker is able to both pay tribute to the dead and give dignity and identity to the victims of the
Holocaust. Such a notion becomes evident throughout the evocative simile we stand like a forest of
trees referring to not only the communal strength and courage of the Jews experiencing the Holocaust,
but adding a spiritual undertone to the text. By referring to the symbol of trees , one can infer that
Baker is making a link between the Holocaust, and the natural processes of the earth; specifically of
life and death. Such an image resonates with the reader as instead of viewing the Holocaust through
the typical horrific representation of documented fact, this portrayal provides a platform for a
heightened understanding and empathy toward such an event.
However, one must consider that despite the concept of memory adding an emotional impact to
documented evidence, the concept of history cannot be overlooked; as the Jewish words included in
the text such as Ay li lu and Scheller add gravitas to the recreation, allowing one to consider that it is a

The Environmental Impact Of The Borneo Lowland Rainforests
Borneo as an island is the third largest island in the world, being just 1% of the world s territory yet
holds approximately 6% of the world s biodiversity in its tropical rainforests. Borneo is a global
ecoregion made up of 2 terrestrial ecoregions; Borneo Lowland rainforests and Borneo Montane
rainforests. This environmental impact report is focused on the Borneo Lowland Rainforest. The
Borneo lowland rainforest is located in South East Asia and routes through parts of Indonesia and
Malaysia, and is also located north of Australia. It includes a large diversity of habitats such as, large
areas of karst (barren limestone plateaus with caves, sinkholes, and gullies), and a high altitude swamp
forest.
The Borneo lowland rainforests are defined as the areas that lie around mountains and below their
level. Borneo lowland rainforests contain 10,000 plant species, 380 bird species and 15,000 mammal
species. There is no distinct borders that would outline Borneo s Lowland Rainforests, but an
approximate estimate suggests the total area being around 420,000 km2. From those statistics it is
estimated the lowland forest takes up around 57% of Borneo s total land. It lies within the tropical
monsoon climate zone. The Borneo Lowland Rainforest is evidently a rainforest. Its features include a
stable climate throughout the year with a huge amount of rainfall, with the monthly rainfall being
beyond 200mm though out the year. The average daily temperature is 31 degrees Celsius

Metric System Persuasive Essay
More than likely you have run a 5k or know someone who has ran one. This is something that affects

Measurements and calculations are something that you use every day, if you realize it or not, and one
time or another you will or already have converted imperial units to metric units. Today, I am going to
try and persuade you that the U.S.A. should switch to using the metric system. First, by looking at the
current situation and why it is a problem. Second, by looking at ways to solve this problem. Currently
we have to learn metric and imperial units in school. Finally, by showing you how everyone will
benefit from the changes and what you can do to help I will start by telling you about the need for the
U.S. to convert to the metric system. The U.S. is one of only 3 countries that still use imperial units

t be necessary, there are 27 measurments in imperial for liquid compared to the 1, liter, in metric.

Dbq Loyalists Essay
Loyalists In between 1760 and 1800, conflict ensued between Great Britain and the American
colonies, now the United States. Because of certain events and documents, those who had not chosen a
side would have benefitted more if indecisive individuals become loyal to the British crown. Those
who obeyed to Great Britain were known as loyalists, or, according to the DBQ Theme assignment,
Tories. The unsure colonists would benefit more if converting to loyalists because of Great Britain s
power and strength, economic superiority, and that the patriots are of barbaric and violent nature. Also,

Furthermore, at around 1781, it can be inferred that the Continental Dollar completely lost its value as

Reggio Emilia Approach
For this reflection we were to write about an educational setting that we had been in and what we saw

Reggio Emilia Approach, which is an innovative and inspiring approach to early childhood education.
This approach is very interesting, and new ways of teaching children concepts. Children are capable of
being able to generate their own learning. They find the children s interests, and find ways to help the
children understand the information. Another thing about the Reggio Emilia approach is the children
are the communicators. Children are encouraged to use their words to communicate with both students
and teachers. If there is a problem between two students, it is important to have the children talk to

worked well, because they were able to learn from it, and it did keep the argument going. Another
thing that I learned was how although teaching plans in advance are important, it is also important to
be able to recognize the children s interests, and apply them in the classroom. Lastly, another thing
that I learned was that it is important to let the children help lead discussions. By doing this they feel

consistency to the team. Most of us are considered full time students, can you imagine adding over 30

Advanced Ecology Midterm (1) Why is scale important in ecology?
Ecology is the study of the distribution and abundance of organisms, their interactions between each
other and their environment, and the structure and function of ecosystems. To this end, the scale
(spatial, functional, temporal, organizational, etc.) at which we observe nature and the multitude of
environments that comprise it is an extremely important factor in the study of ecology. Dumping
sewage effluent in the middle of a small pond is not going to register even a slight disturbance on a
global or even regional scale , but there is a still massive disturbance to the organisms at the small
scale of that pond ecosystem. Similarly, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Large scale variations in these gradients are easy to observe, like an ecotone transitioning grassland
into desert. Smaller scale variations are harder to detect with the naked eye, and micro variations in
habitat are harder to see still. The physical size of environmental heterogeneity / variation is not
indicative of its importance to biodiversity or its ecological relevance, however, as Hutchinson reveals
in his 1959 paper. He discusses the importance of the mosaic nature of the environment as a
significant contributor to biodiversity. While large scale variations in habitat are certainly important
factors in organismal diversity and are responsible for niche differentiation, smaller scale and even
microscopic habitat variations are arguably just as (if not more) important factors that contribute to
biodiversity around the globe. Because the vast majority of animal species on Earth are physical small,
even the tiny variations in a landscape that define its mosaic nature allow for more numerous and
specialized niche differentiations than larger (and less numerous) land animals can fill . Hutchinson s
mosaic nature postulate was an extremely important breakthrough in modern Ecology, and helped
spawn further research into the importance of examining nature at many different scales microscopic,
macroscopic, and everything in between.
Scale is an extremely important

Abstract
Copyright Law is an important entity within the music industry. It protects the owner of authorship
from infringement. Infringement arises when the copyright owner s work is used without their
consent. Although sounds cannot be copyrighted, some cases have shown that the argument of
copyrighting one s voice can sometimes hold weight in a court of law. Singer Tom Waits sued snack
manufacturer Frito Lay for hiring a singer to impersonate him in an advert. Mr. Waits felt that his
artistic copyright had been infringed upon. Frito Lay s defense argued that a voice cannot be protected
by copyright law as it is a sound and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tracy Locke, Frito Lay s advertising agent, approached Tom Waits about using is his song Step Right
Up in an advert for RioSalsa Doritos. They put together a version of the song which featured new
lyrics relevant to the product and played this for Waits. Tom Waits refused outright as he is
vehemently opposed using his music to sell products. It was interesting that they chose that particular
song, as the lyrics are a satirical indictment of advertising. The song features advertising slogans used
sarcastically to describe a product that supposedly does everything from shine your car to make you
six foot five, blonde and beautiful . (Jacobs, 2000)
When he refused, the Tracy Locke company then hired a singer to impersonate Tom Waits style of
sing over a song that bared a lot of similarities the Waits Step Right Up . Tom Waits took legal action
and sued for voice misappropriation and false endorsement. (Roesler, 1992)
As the lyrics for the song were altered to suit the ad, Waits literary copyright was unaffected. The
literary copyright pertains to a work of words which are written, spoken or sung. This work does not
specifically need to be written down for the copyright to apply. A recording of such work holds the
same right as literary work that is written or printed. Written musical notation also falls under this
subsection regardless if it is written down, printed or recorded. (Neff, 2012)

History of the 82nd Airborne Division of the US Air Force
Although the 82nd Airborne was organized in 1917 during America s involvement in the First World
War it was during the Second World War that the unit gained its reputation. Its distinctive name was
garnered from the fact that members of the division originated from communities throughout the
entire country so the term All American was utilized and explains the presence of the distinctive AA
on the division s shoulder patch. The division saw limited involvement during the First World War as
it saw service in only three battles but one of the most famous characters emerging from the War,
Sergeant York, was a member of the 82nd Airborne. Sergeant York was honored with the Medal of
Honor for his efforts in single handily killing a number of Germans and capturing over a hundred of
other German soldiers during the Meuse Argonne offensive (Pushies). Following the end of the First
World War, the division, consistent with the nation s intent to withdraw from international affairs, was
disbanded but as the United States began to prepare for entry into the Second World War the unit was
reactivated. This time, however, the activities of the division were altered from being a routine
infantry unit into the country s first army division dedicated to airborne activities and its name was
changed from being the 82nd Division to its present designation as the 82nd Airborne. As an airborne
unit, the 82nd was at the forefront in battles in Sicily, Salerno, Normandy and Holland where its

Life Has Changed My Life
Every 30 years (with some exceptions) lives are dramatically changed as the result of a beautiful
phenomenon. On August 21, 2017, at 1:17 PM, I would be one of those lucky ones whose lives are
transformed. It would be a monumental experience that would shake my life and thousands of others
for as long as they lived. My sister, my Father and I would drive all the way from Washington, DC to
Charleston, South Carolina. Sitting on the tan, leather seats of our black Toyota land cruiser, it was the
kind of day when your legs would stick to the seats from the summer heat, but it was also the day we
would begin our trek. We would leave the comfort of our home to view the Great American Eclipse
from Charleston, South Carolina. A few hours later, straining my neck to look all the way up a smiling
Pedro s face on a statue, it was obvious that we had reached South of the Border. The air was thick and
hot, it made us Marylanders lethargic. Only three more hours... My dad unenthusiastically yelled to us.
South of the border had marked about 75 percent of hour drive there. Guyssss get upppp, My dad

different colored blankets and tons of pillows and stuffed animals lying around on it. Next to my bed I
have a huge bookshelf. It is wood and has doors. On the other side of my room there is a big wooden
dresser. It has drawers, shelves and a large mirror. By my door there is a small white shelf. It has three
shelves with baskets on each. Lastly, I have a big wooden desk at the end of my bed. Not to mention

Empire Of The Summer Moon Summary
S.C Gwynne writes about the history of the Comanche tribe during the United States attack on the
natives of North America in his book, Empire of the Summer Moon: Quanah Parker and the Rise and
fall of the Comanches, the Most Powerful Indian Tribe in American History. In this book he talks
about the rise and fall of Comanches under Quanah Parker who was the last free tribal leader of the
Comanches, and also goes in depth about the tribe itself and it s growth over time. He details how the
Comanches war with the white man essentially began and ended with Quanah Parker. The book talks
about multiple points of view of the 40 year war between the tribe and the American government and
its citizens, and the raid on the Parker family who had traveled ... Show more content on

As far back as the Spaniard expansion in the 1600 s the Comanches were a tribe that was actually
close to the bottom in terms of power and were bullied by other tribes. Then around the year 1625 to
1750 the Comanche tribe gained massive amounts of power due to pretty much one change in their
culture, the horse. Conquistadors who moved from Mexico up to what is now New Mexico brought
their Spanish horses with them, and when the Comanches started to fight, they took off and left their
horses behind for the Comanche s to get ahold of. Once the Comanches got ahold of Spanish horses
they became a wrecking ball in Native American culture, and became such good warriors on horses
that they have even been compared to Mongolians. As stated in the book, the Comanches were not the
first tribe to utilize horses. The tribes before them used horses in a different way, such as
transportation and food purposes. These tribes never really learned how to breed and use the horse as a
war tool and were known to still use their feet to attack enemies, yet the Comanche would do a raid on
horseback and escape on the Spaniard horse which is known for its speed. The horses were also a tool
to hustle white men in racing bets. The horses that the Comanches used were not too easy on the eyes,
and to the white man who had these European stallions, were not any test in races. So the Natives
would gamble with the white men in horse races, most of the time winning by a wide margin, and
would be known as the fastest horse and riders on the plains. Since the Comanches were also really
advanced at breeding, some of the tribes were known to have anywhere from 500 to 1000 horses per
section. They would not only use these fast horses to race but they would use them to steal other
horses which was a huge market for

Parking Problems At The New Residence Halls
Parking on campus is a recurring problem throughout the years, but the most recent of these problems
has evolved into a catastrophe for and not so much for others. As the fall term came into place, more
and more parking was taken away for the new residence halls. Students regularly admit to hoping
other students would hurry and drop some of their classes, or that the students will go ahead and stop
coming to lectures so there is more parking available and less of a burden. However, the burden of
circling parking lots and the never ending loop of frustrating continues on for the fall term and more is
to come with the lack of parking the campus wishes to offer. The OU Daily has released statements in
articles concerning the matter. The new residence halls will also provide a parking garage or parking
lot in which has a capacity of 1200 1300 parking spots. This is a nice edition for the lack of parking,
but the new residence hall took the place of an old parking lot which held the capacity of 500 600
parking spots. Yes, the parking is nearly doubled, but what good will that doubled number do in
comparison to the number of students (approximately twenty two times the quantity of parking spaces
provided in said lot). The new residence halls may further establish a slightly more extensive parking
lot than previously seen on campus, but the couple hundred more spots available is minuscule in
comparison to the quantity of students and faculty members at the university. The amount

What do I believe to be true? I believe that God exists and that he is the creator of everything that
exists. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, John 1:1

God is the only one who can help me find my purpose. He has had a plan for my life long before I was

for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a
future, Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV). This means that no matter what I do as long as I am in accordance with
God s will, everything will turn out for the best in the end. God has promised to give me hope and a

which God prepared in advance for us to do, Ephesians 2:10 (NIV). With this knowledge I know that

John Bowlby Attachment Theory Research Paper
In the late 1960 s John Bowlby created the attachment theory. The attachment theory is a concept in
developmental psychology, which in personal development concerns the importance of attachment.
Specifically, it makes the claim that the ability for an individual to form an emotional and physical
attachment to another person. It gives a sense of ability and security necessary to take risks, to branch
out, to grow, and develop a personality. The attachment theory is mainly focused on long term
relationships and bonds, particularly between a parent and child.
Bowlby defines the attachment theory as a lasting psychological connectedness between human
beings. Comfort, security, and nourishment come with the formation of attachment bonds. Bowlby

Mesopotamia Disadvantages
The first river valley civilization is Mesopotamia. Southwest Asia is predominantly desert, but there is

through Mesopotamia. There were advantages and disadvantages that came with these two rivers. The
land around the rivers is wonderful for farming. The soil is very fertile, hence the name The Fertile
Crescent. Although the rivers are good for the farmers, they flooded every year. This caused problems
for the people of Mesopotamia. Some other disadvantages for the Sumerians included the fact that
they did not have many natural barriers. This made it easier for other countries to invade. Also, there

  • 2. Legalization of Medical Marijuana Essay Medical Marijuana: A Topic Leaving People Up in Smoke Renee Grant ENC 1101 1002 Professor Bahle March 30, 2013 Medical Marijuana: A Topic Leaving People Up in Smoke Medical marijuana has been an ongoing fight between the federal government, physicians and patients. Contrary to many beliefs, marijuana, whether it is used for medical reasons or recreational is non lethal. It has been proven to be useful in many medical conditions. There has been no evidence of an individual overdosing on marijuana, but there have been a tremendous number of deaths related to prescription drugs, and over the counter medications. The legalizing of medical marijuana will change the lives of so many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What better way to elevate their pain by allowing them to use a plant that has been around for thousands of years. It is cheaper than prescription medications, and one would not have to worry about all the possible side effects that prescription medications contribute to, as in effects on the heart, kidneys, and liver. Pharmacies will be hit the hardest when medical marijuana is legalized. It is cheaper for patients to grow their own medication. Some scientists are still working on how they can make a synthetic form of THC that can be put into capsule form. Is a synthetic form safe? This is still unclear. Physicians who are able to prescribe medical marijuana need to keep a watchful eye out for those that claim to have a disease just so that they can get their marijuana legally. Tax payers are spending billions of dollars each year to fight the war on marijuana. The effort has done nothing, where are the billions of dollars going? Physicians that prescribe medical marijuana to their patients are not promoting smoking by any means; they are just helping relive pain of their suffering patients. While there will be a continuing battle against medical marijuana for years to come there have been 16 states, including Washington D.C that have enacted laws to legalize medical marijuana: California 1996, Alaska 1998, Oregon 1998, Washington 1998, Maine 1999, Colorado 2000, Hawaii 2000, Nevada 2000, Montana 2004, Vermont 2004, ... • 3. Essay about The Power of Angels in America The Power of Angels in America Such ethical possibility is, however, founded on and coextensive with the subject s movement toward what Foucault calls care of the self, the often very fragile concern to provide the self with pleasure and nourishment in an environment that is perceived not particularly to offer them. Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick Demanding that life near AIDS is an inextricably other reality denies our ability to recreate a sustaining culture and social structures, even as we are daily required to devote such time to the details of the AIDS crisis. Cindy Patton Tony Kushner s two part play (or, if you will, two plays) Angels In America is one of most famous and most powerful plays ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rogoff s Angels in America, Devils in the Wings is an article that s decidedly critical of the Broadway production of Tony Kushner s Angels in America: Millennium Approaches. He begins his critique with as one who lives a life rather than a lifestyle, I m not sure what a gay play, let alone a gay fantasia might be (21). As one who lives a life rather than a lifestyle myself, I find this opening to the essay to conjure linguistic maneuvers of the conservative right used to dismiss the grievances of gay men. While I may be going out on a limb in this analysis, most often the binary life vs. lifestyle is code for heterosexual vs. homosexual in short, gays and lesbians don t live lives but rather we live lifestyles. Ours are mockeries of real lives, thus requiring the supplemental style. Rogoff is not sure what a gay play...might be. In truth, this is no easy question, and there are no easy answers to it. Are the plays of Tennessee Williams, such as Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and The Glass Menagerie gay plays, since the author was gay? Or do only his later works qualify as gay plays, as they focused specifically on gay material? Are any of the plays of William Shakespeare gay plays, for that matter? Or is this an appellation reserved for post Stonewall, politically oriented gay plays? These could potentially be very ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This can affect many people, but typically the decision is the right one for the company and its people. Medical people and people working in law have much less time and resources to make decisions. This can ultimately affect decision makers. But thankfully, managers, medical personnel, and law enforcement officers are all trained, regardless of time, or resources on how to effectively and successfully make tough decisions for the betterment of situations, people, and other factors related to the respective fields. 2. What is the goal of the Magretta book, What Management Is? Support your response with specific page numbers from your readings in APA style. Most books can be broken down into one or several main goals. This book, What Management is? Is no different. The foremost goal of this book is to present a coherent view of the whole, of the work known as general management (Magretta, 9). First in Cyprus and then Northern Africa, Western Sicily, the islands of Corsica and Sardinia and Southern France, they spread across the sea looking for new people to trade with always setting up trade posts in the cities they found spread across the region, as their interaction with the city grew over time and in turn their influence till eventually these cities became Phoenician colonies through immersion as most of these colonies had evidence of occupation before the arrival of the Phoenicians. As such the trade cities were either founded around natural harbors or bays such as in the cities of Palermo, Soluntum, Málaga, Cártama and Tangier to name a few . This allowed for the ships to come right up against the city to be loaded up with goods that would be either brought back to Phoenicia or traded to other peoples, it also allowed them to easily defend their ships as any enemy by land would have to get through the city set up around it and by sea would have to sail just as close to the shore to deal any damage to the Phoenician ships . The next type of place is a headland that jutted out into the sea where ships could be harbored on either side such as the cities of Nora and Tharros on Sardinia, Marsala on Sicily and Mogador in Morocco . Again, this set up allows for the ships to be defended as by land the enemy would have to travel all the way up to the headland and by sea any ship would have to face defenses placed at the top of the headland. Now the last three cities are special cases as they are setup a little differently but all follow the two categories as stated above. I was involved in a number of sports throughout my life and have gone through a number of injuries. There is one injury in particular that sparked my interest in athletic training. I was playing soccer at Chemeketa Community College when I broke my foot. From such a technique, one can infer that when history and memory combine, the interplay allows a heightened understanding and perceptive insight into events of the past; specifically the Holocaust. Such a theory becomes evident within the opening of Gate 42, as Baker uses the repetitive symbol of a Jewish poem to draw the reader within the text, allowing an emotional engagement to the horrors of the Holocaust. By referring to the symbol of trees , one can infer that Baker is making a link between the Holocaust, and the natural processes of the earth; specifically of life and death. Such an image resonates with the reader as instead of viewing the Holocaust through the typical horrific representation of documented fact, this portrayal provides a platform for a heightened understanding and empathy toward such an event. However, one must consider that despite the concept of memory adding an emotional impact to documented evidence, the concept of history cannot be overlooked; as the Jewish words included in the text such as Ay li lu and Scheller add gravitas to the recreation, allowing one to consider that it is a credible and reliable ... Ecology is the study of the distribution and abundance of organisms, their interactions between each other and their environment, and the structure and function of ecosystems. To this end, the scale (spatial, functional, temporal, organizational, etc.) at which we observe nature and the multitude of environments that comprise it is an extremely important factor in the study of ecology. He discusses the importance of the mosaic nature of the environment as a significant contributor to biodiversity. While large scale variations in habitat are certainly important factors in organismal diversity and are responsible for niche differentiation, smaller scale and even microscopic habitat variations are arguably just as (if not more) important factors that contribute to biodiversity around the globe. • 27. Life Has Changed My Life Every 30 years (with some exceptions) lives are dramatically changed as the result of a beautiful phenomenon. On August 21, 2017, at 1:17 PM, I would be one of those lucky ones whose lives are transformed. It would be a monumental experience that would shake my life and thousands of others for as long as they lived. My sister, my Father and I would drive all the way from Washington, DC to Charleston, South Carolina. Sitting on the tan, leather seats of our black Toyota land cruiser, it was the kind of day when your legs would stick to the seats from the summer heat, but it was also the day we would begin our trek. We would leave the comfort of our home to view the Great American Eclipse from Charleston, South Carolina. A few hours later, straining my neck to look all the way up a smiling Pedro s face on a statue, it was obvious that we had reached South of the Border. The air was thick and hot, it made us Marylanders lethargic. Only three more hours... My dad unenthusiastically yelled to us. South of the border had marked about 75 percent of hour drive there. Guyssss get upppp, My dad groggily tried to stir me and my sister from a peaceful slumber, although he himself tired too. By my door there is a small white shelf. It has three shelves with baskets on each. Lastly, I have a big wooden desk at the end of my bed. Empire Of The Summer Moon Summary S.C Gwynne writes about the history of the Comanche tribe during the United States attack on the natives of North America in his book, Empire of the Summer Moon: Quanah Parker and the Rise and fall of the Comanches, the Most Powerful Indian Tribe in American History. In this book he talks about the rise and fall of Comanches under Quanah Parker who was the last free tribal leader of the Comanches, and also goes in depth about the tribe itself and it s growth over time. He details how the Comanches war with the white man essentially began and ended with Quanah Parker. The book talks about multiple points of view of the 40 year war between the tribe and the American government and its citizens, and the raid on the Parker family who had traveled ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As far back as the Spaniard expansion in the 1600 s the Comanches were a tribe that was actually close to the bottom in terms of power and were bullied by other tribes. Then around the year 1625 to 1750 the Comanche tribe gained massive amounts of power due to pretty much one change in their culture, the horse. Conquistadors who moved from Mexico up to what is now New Mexico brought their Spanish horses with them, and when the Comanches started to fight, they took off and left their horses behind for the Comanche s to get ahold of. Once the Comanches got ahold of Spanish horses they became a wrecking ball in Native American culture, and became such good warriors on horses that they have even been compared to Mongolians. As stated in the book, the Comanches were not the first tribe to utilize horses. The tribes before them used horses in a different way, such as transportation and food purposes. These tribes never really learned how to breed and use the horse as a war tool and were known to still use their feet to attack enemies, yet the Comanche would do a raid on horseback and escape on the Spaniard horse which is known for its speed. The horses were also a tool to hustle white men in racing bets. The horses that the Comanches used were not too easy on the eyes, and to the white man who had these European stallions, were not any test in races. So the Natives would gamble with the white men in horse races, most of the time winning by a wide margin, and would be known as the fastest horse and riders on the plains. Since the Comanches were also really advanced at breeding, some of the tribes were known to have anywhere from 500 to 1000 horses per section. They would not only use these fast horses to race but they would use them to steal other horses which was a huge market for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. Parking Problems At The New Residence Halls Parking on campus is a recurring problem throughout the years, but the most recent of these problems has evolved into a catastrophe for and not so much for others. As the fall term came into place, more and more parking was taken away for the new residence halls. Students regularly admit to hoping other students would hurry and drop some of their classes, or that the students will go ahead and stop coming to lectures so there is more parking available and less of a burden. However, the burden of circling parking lots and the never ending loop of frustrating continues on for the fall term and more is to come with the lack of parking the campus wishes to offer. The OU Daily has released statements in articles concerning the matter. The new residence halls will also provide a parking garage or parking lot in which has a capacity of 1200 1300 parking spots. This is a nice edition for the lack of parking, but the new residence hall took the place of an old parking lot which held the capacity of 500 600 parking spots. Yes, the parking is nearly doubled, but what good will that doubled number do in comparison to the number of students (approximately twenty two times the quantity of parking spaces provided in said lot). The new residence halls may further establish a slightly more extensive parking lot than previously seen on campus, but the couple hundred more spots available is minuscule in comparison to the quantity of students and faculty members at the university.
