I Want to Pursuit a Profession in Radiology Essay
The potential profession I am going to pursue is Radiology. Radiology deals with taking x rays of the
body and diagnosing what you find wrong. How the radiology unit works is getting a patient and
having the radiologist technician take images of the body by using machines. Different types of
machines such as, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), and positron
emission tomography (PET), identify all the images being taken of the human body (Phillip Costello,
2014). After the images have been taken they are sent to the radiologist to be interpreted. After being
interpreted the patient is then told their diagnoses. Each of these steps involves writing in a certain
form. Writing is a form of communication in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The radiologist technician takes the x ray of a certain part of the body needed for the radiologist to
interpret. The technician can write side notes about the patient while taking the x ray. After it is taken
they are given to the radiologist to interpret. The radiologist will then write a report or diagnosis of
what the x ray shows of the patient. These can show tumors, blood flow, and inflammation. The
radiologist writes this interpretation for physicians to read. They often give the patient a diagnosis.
After interviewing Dr. Clyde Helms who had worked at Duke Hospital of Radiology Medicine we
discussed how writing is important, what the diagnosis of x rays are mostly about and how long they
are. The most common topic is variable ranging from fractures to cancer. (Helms, 2014) The writing
of the interpretation can be multiple pages but is usually short. It is important for the radiologist to be
specific because the physician will diagnose the patient. During the day radiologists will have to
interpret a lot of scans of different parts of the body. Today technology helps speed up the process for
radiologists so they do not have to write, instead they talk into a microphone that recognizes their
voice and writes the information in the computer for them. The microphone isn t as efficient as the
radiologists want to be but it still helps in the end. The microphone isn t as efficient because it doesn t
pick up exactly what the

Amelia Earhart Conspiracy Theory
There are many theories on what happened to Amelia Earhart but which ones are true? Nobody really
knows for sure what happened to her but there are many theories on what happened.
Amelia Earhart was an experienced pilot. she was the first female pilot to fly across the atlantic ocean.
That by itself is a very long flight for back then, but she wanted to step it up by flying across the
whole world. (Crouch) Amelia Earhart disappeared on July 2, 1937. To this day nobody knows for

Emirau Island, off Papua New Guinea, seems an unlikely place to find Earhart because it s far from
the spot where her last radio transmissions occurred. Still, a U.S. Navy crew member in World War II
told of being sent to the island and spotting a photo of Earhart tacked up in the hut of a local man. The
photo showed Earhart standing with a Japanese military officer, a missionary and a young boy. The
sailor alerted naval intelligence officers, who allegedly took the photo from the hut against the owner s
wishes. The photo has never been found. Since Emirau Island had been a haven for Europeans
stranded after a shipwreck in 1940, it s likely the photo contained a lookalike and not the real Amelia
Earhart.

What Role Should Illegal Drugs
What role should illegal drugs have in the future of medicine?
In the UK drugs legislation classified 5 schedules in which substances must be categorised. The
Schedule 1 groups the substances that are considered of no therapeutic value, thus they are
determinate illegal. It is not possible to buy or own those substances and the use of them in research
may be authorised only with a Home Office licence. Although this legislation might discourage the
research on illegal drug for therapeutic purpose, recent studies suggest that magic mushrooms, LSD
and MDMA could help with mental and physical pathologies. This essay will briefly describe how
substances operate in the body. In addition, there will be an investigation on the use of illegal drugs
for therapeutic purpose.
According to the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, it is considered a drug any natural or chemical
substance that has the property of affecting the structure or function of the body. However, this
definition do not include food. Drugs can be administrated by injection, orally, inhaled, insufflations,
rectally or topically. After the drug has been administrated it is absorbed by the body and directed to
the blood stream. The timing of this process will depend on the drug itself and the method of
administration that has been used. From here the molecules derived from the drug are absorbed by the
cells, where chemical reactions occur. When the molecules have been discharged from the cell, they
are taken back in the

What is difference between game and non game species?
Typically, game species are defined as species harvested for recreational purposes while non game
species are not consumed. More basically, is it hunted or not. However, these are actually legal
definitions which may vary from state to state. Hunting or consumption is not used to manage non
game species, except in the case of managing predators impacting endangered species. However,
game species, typically thought of in terms of hunting, are alternatively appreciated non
consumptively as well. Therefore, hunting or consumption is not an adequate distinction between
game and non game species. Furthermore, species definitions are influenced by political, economic
and social values expressed through

MFA Thesis Exhibition
Last week I visited the George Caleb Bingham Gallery to see an artist s work. Her name was Mary
Margaret Sandbothe and her collection of art was at the MFA Thesis Exhibition. Now, I am not one for
looking at art and being able to interpret it easily, but when I arrived to see her work I was pleasantly
surprised. I was in awe of artwork at first glance.
First, what I noticed was that the main overlook of all her pieces included same sex relationships or
couples. Furthermore, it exemplified families with same sex parents. For example, there was one piece
that had presented two dads with an African American child. This shows the reality of what the world
is like today. People don t want to accept change, but she is putting it out there ... Show more content

One piece presents two men lying on a blanket in a park enjoying the day outside. Normally, all
couples do this. Now, the society we live in people would look at this like it was uncommon, but
slowly people are starting to accept this as the norm. The other piece shown is two men sitting at a
table with their son seemingly helping him with his homework like a happy family. Yes, she is
presenting how families do work with same sex marriages if you are open to it. At least that is what I
see in my opinion.
Lastly, she had another piece of two men looking marry while holding a newborn baby. This could
possibly mean that they had adopted or fostered a child. It s a beautiful sight because they are so
happy and blessed to have this baby in their life. Again, Sandbothe is prominently making a statement
here about our society and its view on same sex relationships.
Now, with that being said, she had many pieces presented in her work at this exhibit and I found it
very intriguing how bold she was. She is not only speaking for the LGBT community, but also
speaking to our society and how we should be more accepting of change. The world is continuously
evolving and we must not sit back and expect it to go back to the way it was. We must embrace

Millions of adults of the age 65 and older have been diagnosed with this serve diseases . Based on

are able to interact with people with their same condition or have a different illness. They also provide
counseling for the family members of the alzheimer s patients where they give them the support they

Thomas Reflection
Kaleb Harriott
Bible 10

Thomas
I can relate to Thomas because of these four ways. Thomas was doubtful and worked hard at finding
out the truth. He helped out others believe in Jesus even though they have never seen Him. He taught
about Jesus to others. And he struggled a lot throughout his life with Jesus.
Thomas doubted and so he worked hard at finding out the truth. He always doubted because of his
faith, he wanted to see with his own eyes instead of believing what he wanted to see. For example
when Jesus was crucified on the cross he was speared in the chest and nailed to the cross from his
wrists. When Jesus was resurrected He visited the group of disciples but Thomas wasn t with the
group at the time. So when Thomas came to them they told him about the good news but he didn t
believe them unless he saw and felt Jesus wounds in his wrists and chest. Jesus then invited Thomas to
see Him so he did and Thomas felt his wounds and believed. The way I work hard is my schedule; I
have to wake up go to swim practice from 5:00 to 7:00. Then I have to go to school for six hours and
do a lot of assignments for each class. After each class they assign homework which usually takes
another two hours after school. Then I have to go to swim practice again for another two hours. When
I m finished with practice I have to go eat dinner, then I go home around 8:00 8:30. I have to do my
homework which takes forever and go to bed late and wake up early the next morning for practice. It s
hard to do mostly because of the amount of school work we have. When I have to wake up for practice
it makes it even harder because I put in all my effort and end up tired before school and makes it
harder to concentrate. Then after school I have to practice really hard again, and by the time I get
home I m exhausted and just want to go to sleep, but I have to stay up and do a lot of homework. I
keep doubting that I won t be able to get my work done on time or work hard at practice. I just try to
do my best at either my school work or swimming no matter what.
Thomas was an inquisitive man. Thomas curious mind led him to doubt God s work in the world, but
also led him to discover answers to his questions, which led him to

Psalm 114 Essay
Psalm 114 is a praise psalm. This psalm functions to unite Israel in their shared history as a people
who God had provided for when they relied on him. Wherever Israel was during the composing of this
particular psalm, they likely needed to be reminded of such things as God s faithfulness. It may be that
because of this psalm s emphasis on God s dominance of the earth that there was a famine or a long
winter Israel had to endure. Whatever their situation, this psalm praises God s presence, providence,
and control over the earth.
Verses 1 2
The verse 1 parallelism is both semantic and syntactic. That is to say that the grammatical order is
nearly the same, and the meaning is very similar as well. The word pairs are Israel/House of Jacob,

Judah was the told by his father, The scepter shall not pass from Judah (Genesis 49: 8 12). Therefore,
Judah (David was of his lineage) has been the place of rule. The place of rule in the second verse here
becomes the place of God s holiness or his sanctuary. In the larger scale, Israel becomes God s
dominion. Thus rather than speaking of a king or other ruler, God is the one who rules.
Verse 3 4
The sea, the Jordan, the mountains, and the hills are all personified as turning back and taking flight.
This is to highlight the incredible nature of the event, as well as poetically describe exactly what
happened. The sea really did flee to either side as Israel crossed. With mention of the bodies of water
and the mountains and hills, there seems to be an emphasis on the fact that those things were
conquered. The chaos of the waters and the indomitability of the mountains and hills are not only
overcome, they take flight out of fear.
Verses 5 6
Verses 5 and 6 are rhetorical questions that repeat the subjects of the previous two verses in the same
order. These two verses do not explicitly tell us anything new, they only ask why. Thus far, the first
four verses have been telling us what and now the psalmist rhetorically asks,

Analysis Of A House Of My Own
Sandra Cisneros composes an engaging memoir in A House of My Own that is imperative to the
coming of age of young adults today. Her memoir not only contains compilations of her childhood,
family, and writing, but also includes her unabashed journeys and internal battles faced in order to
proclaim an identity for herself as a strong, independent Chicana woman. The title of the novel alone
is an example of a peregrination Cisneros undergoes in order to discover what the meaning of a home
means exclusively to her soul searching adventure while also aiding her outlook on life itself.
When first reading her novel, the reader may believe Cisneros is pursuing a long term residency
merely for the sake of how she was raised as a child. Throughout her personal essays, Cisneros refers
back to her formative years when her family seemed to be continuously traveling all over the United
States. Cisneros conveys this by saying, When I was a girl [my family] traveled to Mexico City so
much I thought my grandparents house on La Fortuna, number 12, was home. It was the only constant
in our nomadic ramblings from one Chicago flat to another (Cisneros 78). These frequent relocations
causes her to lack crucial friendships for a child, leading to an unhealthy mentality of an introvert. As
a result, this takes a toll on Cisneros seeing as she never has the ability to properly build
communication skills and lacks a permanent residence that can last more than a certain period of time
until she has

Moral, Ethical, And Ethical Theories
Moral and Ethical theories often conflict with one another. It is hardly ever true that both theories
agree with one another. Same is the case for Jean and Pierre. Following the four basic principles of
Act Utilitarianism, Rule Utilitarianism, Social Contract Theory, and Kantianism his actions will be
discussed in the following paper. Examining his actions, he was in favor of following the moral
instinct of Utilitarianism more than any other theory. Rule utilitarianism is a branch of utilitarianism
that suggests an action is ethical if it follows the rule of greatest good. It is a moral rule that most
people follow due to its greater benefits. It is a rule to judges people based on their actions, which
follow the universal moral principles to result in greatest happiness. In this scenario, Jean s actions are
judged which involves hacking into the networking system, impersonating a doctor, and saving his
nephew s life. Of all these three acts saving the life of child provides the greatest good. Although, his
act in unethical, but his pure intentions and the severity of allergic reaction makes it morally ethical to
breach network security and prescribe a drug by impersonating a doctor. Therefore, I believe rule
utilitarianism provides a moral obligation to save a life of a child over hacking into the networking
systems and following the laws. Similarly, act utilitarianism is another branch of utilitarianism stating
that a person s act is morally correct if the total

The Stock Market Crash of 1929
The stock market crash of 1929, which is considered most of the beginning of the U.S Great

the U.S. stock market underwent a popularity of stock trading. ( Stock Market Crash of 1929. ) By the

Apple Corporation also operates in the music industry. The company enjoys a dominant market share

Using Titanium Dioxide as Photocatalyst to Reduce Pollution
Recent research shows that titanium dioxide can be used as a photocatalystic property to reduce
pollutants. This was first discovered by Fujishima and Honda in 1972, where the photocatalystic
properties of titanium dioxide were found to be applicable. It was shown that by converting ultraviolet
light energy, this compound acts as a catalyst to produce hydroxyl in the presence of moisture in the
air. Hydroxl then can oxidize and convert these harmful pollutants to HNO3. The reason that this is
useful is because nitrogen oxide is a common pollutant which has many adverse effects to society.
Nitrogen oxides may form into nitric acid which contributes to acid rain, and it also chemically reacts
to sunlight and changes into ozone which additionally has many adverse health effects for living
organisms and non living things alike. The health related issues are a major reason to reduce emissions
of NOx because although health is important, money is an issue as well. In California an independent
study conducted from 2005 to 2007 found that nearly 30,000 visits in the state were due to California
failing to meet both federal and state standards for PM and ozone. This data comes from statistics of
hospital reports for respiratory, cardiovascular, and asthma attacks. Even though the study estimates
were on the conservative side, it was estimated that the cost of un attainment to the state between that

Oh, Canada, glorious and free! these words from Canada s national anthem draw many immigrants to
the true North strong and free. Austin Clarke s short story Canadian Experience, portrays the struggles
of a Barbadian man who has moved to Toronto, Ontario Canada against the wishes of his father to find
his fortune. Clarke does not name the principal character until closer to the end of the story. He has
had to change who he is to make a meaningful life in Canada. George struggles with the fact that he is
ready for bigger things but is finding it difficult to reach his goal. When ones race and morals are

And now his house does not have a name and he barely has one himself.
Since George has moved to Toronto, he has gone through so many changes against his own will, and it
has made him depressed and bitter. He is applying for a position at a bank and he was always
uncomfortable and impatient whenever he had to go into one. George has been forced to change his
morals and even his personal taste just to get ahead in Canada. He doesn t believe that men and
women should cohabit if they are not married and is not a believer in the North American practice of
having boys going to school with girls. He listens to a rock and roll station even though he hates it just
so he can find out what time it is. He plans to lie about his educational background at his job interview
to impress them; where as his education in Barbados is above average. His entire lifestyle has changed
and his fear of failure drove him over the edge.
George does feel at times he is better and can accomplish more. While thinking about his job
interview and the fact that it is only a junior position, he feels his necessity would make him bitter, but
thankful. When he decides he needs to lie about his education at the interview he laughs at own
cleverness of nuance and logic, and thinks that no one is Toronto would know the difference. George

Who Is Joan Didion On Going Home
Home is more than just a place to most people, it is a different set of values and behaviors. Joan
Didion, in her personal essay On Going Home, reflects on the difficulty of combining one s adult life
with one s values and experiences from the place one comes from, the troubles of being home. In
contrast, the article in Quartz by Corinne Purtill raises awareness for those who are refugees, who had
to abandon their homes, and for Better Shelter, a company trying to give a more dignified home for
displaced people. Despite the differences in aforementioned purposes, the texts share a subject of the
struggle to find that place one can call home and feel secure in. Although these two texts are linked in
terms of subject matter, they differ in terms of their varying purposes, context, and syntactical and
stylistic features. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By choosing to write the piece as a personal essay, Didion can use anecdote as evidence for her

personal experience adds to her ethos and credibility with the reader as it assures them that she has
firsthand knowledge of her subject. Furthermore, her use of first person pronouns makes her more

Rube Goldberg Project Research Paper
The Rube Goldberg Project, assigned by my science teacher to instigate creativity and out of the box
thinking, brought out the ingenuity in all of us. Our task was to create a Rube Goldberg Machine that
was capable of ringing a desk bell. Individually or in groups, we had to build the machine and present
it to the class. This task seemed moderately simple, but in truth, it was much more complicated than
any of us had realized. Specific requirements needed to be met that further hardened the project.
However, by studying Rube Goldberg s life, his cartoons, and his machine, we were able to tackle the
challenge presented, including forging a team that would persevere through many challenges.
Rube Goldberg is hailed as one of the greatest cartoonists ever for his exemplary work; therefore, he

difficult, but building became much smoother as time went on. Time was not on our side, but we

machines in them. The spiral, mousetrap, gear, tubing, car, zip ties, cardboard, wood, pegboard, dowel
rods, and hot glue were all provided by me. Zac provided the marbles, pegboard hooks, wire, and
string. Team unity helped build my team s project into something we both were proud of; hence, a
great deal of time went into the creation of the project. My team worked well together, but as
expected, we had a few bumps in the road along the way. As was stated previously, Zac became sick at
a vital time of work. Work was distributed reasonably evenly amongst our group. We had both come
up with solid ideas that could be further enhanced. The project itself bounced from house to house.

Kokoro Trauma
There are many types of trauma that can affect an adolescent and without the proper treatment the
juvenile can have difficulty adapting and developing into adulthood. This situation is animated in
Kokoro by Natsume Soseki. This Japanese novel centers around a university student and a man whom
he refers to as Sensei. The student, also the narrator of this story, goes on a journey to reveal the
secrets behind this enigmatic teacher who lives a reclusive and idle life with his wife. Sensei is weary
of the world in general because of his agonizing past. During his university days, he committed a
crime which has haunted him ever since. On the night of K s death, Sensei was terrified by the scene
in which resulted in a permanent, mental scar that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Upon discovering K s corpse, Sensei had an urge to properly look at his friend s countenance. The
author writes, Not only had the sight filled me with sudden horror, but the head had felt inordinately
heavy (231). The word choice used by Soseki in this scene elicits the devastating consequence of his
sudden compulsion. Words such as, sudden horror and inordinately heavy, describing a dead man s
head depicts the emotional and mental scarring effect it created on a growing young man. Having
experienced this at such a young age and never receiving the proper treatment, Sensei was traumatized
which resulted in his isolation and distrust of humanity. Additionally, as the night continues, Sensei
becomes restless. He claims, What had truly frightened me was my own destiny; it seemed to have
been shaped... by this friend of mine, who now lay cold and lifeless before me (231). Sensei, being at
such a vulnerable age, suffered the guilt of leading his companion to death, which had a tolling effect
in his development. The dreadful and ghastly scene that laid before him traumatized his developing
mind. Soseki use words such as cold and lifeless to describe K s dead body to emphasize the
agonizing result K s death had on Sensei. The traumatic effect K s suicide had on Sensei is addressed
through Soseki s use of word

Analysis of Karen Russell
Analysis of Karen Russell s St. Lucy s Home for girls Raised by Wolves St. Lucy s Home for girls
Raised by Wolves, Karen Russell s collection of fantastical short stories take all that is mundane and
fractures it into a fantastical world with humor, dramatic tone, or cultural/religious undertones. Russell
whirls a reader into her stories with her capability to encase a reader in the story with her repetition of
one s senses. Constantly brining in the senses of a reader brought in the smells of a surrounding from
the protagonist or in this case the narrator. In St. Lucy s Home for girls Raised by Wolves, our
narrator, Claudette, speaks from the mind of a half human half wolf in transition. Of the pack s

Claudette becomes known as the protagonist and narrator shortly after this switch. After every sense,
emotion, and interaction was a pack experience, for Russell to cut this tie and create a story that is of
an individual is a subtle experience at first; from a united thought process that slowly turn individual
to self centered and selfish. This is apparent in Claudette s frame of mind towards her little sister
Mirabella, from the pack worrying about Mirabella (230) to Claudette singular thoughts and emotions
toward her littlest sister . This switch epitomizes the coming to age alone tone that Russell creates,
initially the pack protected each other, thought as one, and were connected in every way till they
adapted to the new environment, becoming singular units growing up isolated from each other snarl at
one another for no reason (229) becoming accustomed to thinking individually as an independent
person. These stories although diverse in content and storyline Russell connects each to another
almost subconsciously. They share similar struggle of coming of age stories, stories of isolation in the
first person that reveal one trait or another within the battle. Despite the fact that is the same reasoning
with each story it has a new outcome, therefor the stories are not repetitive while the elements used
might be. Russell s constant use of senses or imagery of hands and feet do not subtract from the story
but heighten them. Russell

The Wife s Story By Ursula Le Guin
Ursula Le Guin uses techniques to put the audience at disbelief and at shook. In the story, The Wife s
Story, Guin uses irony to put the readers at sorrow for the characters like the husband. The husband
was portrayed as a kind beautiful man. A man that was good with the children and anyone could see
that there was nothing wrong with him. The woman was deeply in love with the man with many
secrets. Secrets she did not know that would tear her family apart.
The story was viewed in the wife s perspective, which the readers believe that everything she tells is
right. In the beginning, when she met him, she knew that she would be happy with him. She says, He
was purely good to me. A hard worker and never lazy, so big and fine looking. (Le Guin 1) The

COMMENTARY. The reason I chose this article was because I find anything with Europe interesting.
I went to Germany as a class trip with my German class my senior year of highschool and completely
fell in love with the culture. While on this class trip we stopped in many different parts of Europe as
well. Having been to see of the places and seeing how the culture is now, defiantly had some influence.
Although one problem I have encountered while typing this article is the Schengen Agreement. Yes it
might have worked then, but as the war in Syria has caused many of the refugees to flee to different
parts of Germany and Europe. The Schengen Agreement is starting to cause panic for all of the
countries involved. Since there is no border patrol the refugees can flee to anyone of the countries
freely without a passport. Meaning they cannot stop them from coming through. Having witnessed
firsthand some of the PEGIDA riots while in Europe I can see a problem in the process of happening.
Having their borders open now in the 21st century could be more of a problem then they anticipated.
The benefits however make it easy for people to travel to work, stop the mafia obviously but also
maintains a trust with the people of the agreement and the government enforcing it. I do believe that
this article was useful in giving background information on how Italy slowly started to get rid of the
mafia, and how the rest of Europe banded together and used their forces to overcome most of the
mafia influences in Europe. The person who wrote this article defiantly had some bias while writing
this article. Instead of remaining neutral he chose a side and agreed wholeheartedly with the Schengen
Agreement. He even went on later to state that the government should fund different organizations that
are committed to stopping the mafias in

Why Is Presidential Leadership Rating The Best And The...
The United States since its adoption of the Constitution in 1787 has accumulated total amount forty
five presidents over two hundred and thirty years. These forty five presidents as history and the United
States continues, will be the subject of analysts throughout history, who will try to rank them from the
best to the worst. The book written by James Taranto and Leonard Leo, Presidential Leadership:
Rating the Best and the Worst in the White House is one of these analytical books shoving the
presidents into a ranking by using a survey of professors of history, law and political science to rate
them. This book by Leo and Taranto focus on a handful of prime objectives for the readers to
overserve while reading the book. The first is to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One reason I that this book is a great read is that it is easily a readable book for any person who is
looking for a general reference for presidential history. The unique perspective given by the wide
verity of authors provide the reader with a great historical importance that each president had on the
office is another aspect that makes this book worth reading. Finally, the most surprising aspect that
made this book a decent read is that the authors did somewhat succeed on their attempt to provide a
well balanced and un biased ranking of the presidents through survey of professional scholars.
Although, there are a few more aspects to this historical and political work that makes it a great read
there are flaws that make this book s ranking of the presidents a little questionable. The first and most
likely the hardest to see is that the many authors that wrote the essays of each president did not agree
with the survey results while some did. The second flaw is that not every president up to George W.
Bush is represented on the ranking appendix on pages elven and twelve. The authors mention that
presidents George W. Bush, the ninth president William Henry Harrison, and 20th president James
Garfield is not being represented on the chart (pg. 12). George W. Bush not being the chart is
understandable because this survey and information gathering did take place before his election, but
the other two are being left out for the reasons of short terms (pg. 12). I

European Citizenship
1. Summary
There have been a lot of contributions by scholars to the widely discussed topic of European
citizenship. In his article Espen D.H. Olsen argues in contrast to many others, that the Maastricht
Treaty was not year zero in the EU citizenship discourse (Olsen 2008, p. 40). His study deals with the
time before the general discussion over the European citizenship started in the 1970s (cf. ibid, p. 41ff.)
The article s main finding states that European citizenship has been in existence from the European
integration s starting point, the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC). Olsen defines his
concept of citizenship as a status of individuals in relation to a political unit (ibid, p. 41) which he
divides in the four dimensions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
53). That is clearly contradicting to his own finding before and generally seems to be too big of a
stretching of his concept. He merely speculates about the status of membership in that case. It can also
be argued that the coal and steel workers were of course included in the wording of the contract,
because it was their industries that were being integrated. But an equivalence of the coal and steel
workers to European Citizens on such thin arguments is rather far fetched.
Secondly, during applying the membership dimension on the Rome Treaties, Olsen again confuses
workers and producers as members or citizens, although he himself, as before, states that the
prevailing image is one of a focus on individuals as workers and producers (ibid, p. 47). So by
wrongly applying the membership dimension, Olsen again disproves his own argument.
Thirdly, Olsen analyses preambles of the aforementioned treaties and documents on several occasions.
Unfortunately he only derives speculations and conjectures out them. E.g. the preamble of the free
movement Regulation 1612/68 states that the freedom of movement constitutes a fundamental right of
workers and their families as well as it gives a guarantee for the possibility of improving [the worker
s] living and working conditions and promoting his social advancement (ibid, p. 50). The author
immediately jumps to the conclusion that this is somehow a kind of membership that even relates

3-Nitrochalcone Lab Report
Before the start of this experiment, the theoretical yield was calculated. Based off the data, it was
found that the limiting reagent is 3 nitrobenzaldehyde. The theoretical yield is determined by relating
the moles of the limiting reagent to the moles of the anticipated product by a ratio obtained from the
overall equation. The theoretical yield was calculated to be 1.3 g. However, the actual yield obtained
was greater than the theoretical yield; in other words, the actual mass of the product was higher than
the theoretical mass. This led to an abnormally high yield of 320% and an impure product. Though the
experiment was carried out smoothly, errors may have occurred that led to an actual mass of 4.166 g

The two peaks next to each other, 2360.23 cm 1 and 2341.78 cm 1, most likely indicated a nitrile or
alkyl stretch. These peaks disappeared in the spectrum for the crystallized 3 nitrochalcone, though.
The peaks were most likely as the result of an incomplete reaction or a reaction that did not go to
completion. The product probably did not completely tautomerize, showing an alkyl or nitrile group.
The crude product was also not completely dried, as indicated from the presence of an OH group at
the 3383.38 cm 1 peak. Figure 2 depicts the infrared spectrum of the crystallized product. The two
peaks, signifying the nitrile or alkyl stretch, were still on the spectrum, but smaller. However, a peak at
3380.36 cm 1 indicates that an OH stretch is still present in the crystallized product. This verifies that
the product was not pure; that OH group was likely from methanol, the solvent used to purify the
crude product. In order to remove the methanol/OH group, the crystallized product was left to dry in
an oven for several minutes to spur dehydration. After that, another IR spectrum was taken for the
dried product (Figure 3). In this spectrum, there was no alcohol peak, which indicates that the product
became pure; the compound lost the hydroxyl group and no methanol was found in the pure product.
As a result, Figure 3 is the desired

Nelson Mandela In South Africa
I am Nelson Mandela but everybody call me Madiba and I am a leader of South Africa. South Africa
is not a normal country when the nation remains s racially and economically divided after the end of
apartheid. One country but two societies such as Black and White. As a Black leader, I do not have a

thinking and feeling, I organize a small meeting to convince the staffs to stay with me and run the
government with their hearts. And when Jason, my bodyguard asks me for more men, I decide to use
SAS staff because this is the opportunity to show the citizens that South Africa is different now and
we have to look into the future, I know Jason does not like this but I say with him Forgiveness start
here. Few days later, I attend the rugby match between Springbok and England. This match likely to
present the entrenched problems in South African community. I can see how serious the situation is
when the Black cheering England team and the White sport fans support the old ways with their
outdated flags. Moreover, when I arrive there are many aggressive people throw beer cans to me. At
that day, our team lose. Based on the bad result, National Sport Council decides to eliminate the

As a leader of the whole nation, I believe rugby is the symbol of South Africa and Springbok is the
factor for reunification without using any power or taking away White South African their most

Essay On The Movie Metropolis
Metropolis is a silent film about a modern city. The people are divided into the lower class and the
upper class. The people who belong in the lower class lives in the city of workers and the people who

The film started with presenting both sides in that futuristic city. The city of the workers, where the

Lifespan Development And The Development Of Human And...
Lifespan is the period during which something is functional, so in humans, lifespan is the period from
birth and death. As humans, we break it down into different phases, this would include infants,
toddlers, preschooler, school age, adolescents, early adulthood, middle adulthood, and late adulthood.
This shows that we are changing as we move as a society as the life expectancy increases and children
are aging differently. Most known as human development, which is the action of developing to
maturity. Human development is the study of these changes related to the physical, emotional,
cognitive, and social domains of an individual. Similar to human development, there are three types of
lifespan development, this including physical development which involves growth and changes in the
body and brain, the senses, motor skills and health and wellness. Cognitive wellness which involves
learning, attention, memory, language, thinking, and creativity. And lastly, the psychological
development which involves emotions, personality, and social relationships (White 326 334). When
thinking of development, individuals often consider the changes the human body goes through as
aging occurs. In the field of human services, it is important to recognize development throughout the
lifespan and how an individual s behavior can be impacted based on factors that occur from
conception to death. It also supports developmental change being impacted by biological,
physiological, and social aspects. A

Nowadays , almost all of the criminals are sent to prison , but I think that is not a good way for
punishment of prisoners , and I think sent them to special school is better than sent them to prison .
The main purpose and function as the prison system are to reform the criminals , and it is proved that
the existing prison system in many countries has no way to achieve this goal . When the criminals are
locked up , they will be asked to be locked up with the rest of the criminal . Maybe a criminal just

There is a need to analyze the real cause of the crime . There are two main reasons : first , the most
criminals are criminals because they have not received a good education , so their legal consciousness
is very weak . Many people will think that they do not have anything wrong , and did not touch the
bottom line of the law . Secondly , because they have not received a good education , . So they do not
have any professional skills and to feed their skills . So , in order to survive , they can only rely on the
way to solve these crimes . When have they released from prison , they still face the same problem .
Because they still don t have any survival skills , they still can t find a good job . And , worse , their
experience in prison will be a stain on their lives , which makes it harder for them to find the right job
. Therefore , education and training are relatively better choice . Criminals can learn a lot of
professional knowledge and skills , so that they have a meal later on the cost of

Pan s Labyrinth Research Paper
Magical Realism Essay After watching the movie Pan s Labyrinth, I believe it deals with some
features of Magical Realism, which is artistic genre that involves realistic narrative and naturalistic
technique combined with surreal elements of a dream or fantasy. This genre includes fantasy elements,
but often has real world social and political problems. I believe that the movie Pan s Labyrinth does
have aspects of magical realism, because Ofelia, one of the main characters, believes in fantasy. Since
the movie is set five years after the Spanish Civil War it included many political problems.
Throughout the movie examples of Magical Realism is present while there are some instances that it
could be proven the movie is not entirely Magical Realism. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Throughout the movie Ofelia sees creatures from the fairy tales but appears to be the only who sees
them. Additionally, she never once panicked about seeing the creatures, she treated them like normal
which is an aspect of Magical Realism. For example. in the very first scene, she sees a stick bug, but
automatically thinks it is a fairy and does not question where it came from. Later in the movie, Ofelia
must pass three tests to prove she is the Princess of the Underworld. Even though the test dealt with
magical creatures it could have symbolized event in reality. For instance, her second task is finding the
pale man, who is having a feast. While Ofelia is at the feast with the pale man, Vidal and Carmen are
having a feast without Ofelia. Carmen ordered Ofelia to her room without dinner because she had
ruined her clothing. The task and fairy tales could have been an escape for her during the time of the
war and her mother being sick. The Magical Realism aspect of this scene is the pale man and the
reality aspect is that Ofelia, Vidal, and Carmen are all at a feast, just not the same

Sports-Related Injuries In My Life
At least 1.35 million people have sports related injuries in a year. On a breezy April day, I realized I
was one of those people. It was about halfway through my 8th grade track season when I noticed my
hip started to throb with pain. During that whole track season my back and hip felt sore while I ran,
but I put that out of my mind because I figured I was just out of shape. On the day where my hip really
started to inconvenience me, I had morning practice for running, then I had practice after school for
long jumping.
After school, before we headed down to the track, we set up the high jump mat in the gym and we
were messing around with it to see if we would be interested in that event. I had decided before then
that I was not going to participate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She also explained that long jump caused the plates to move. The impact of hitting the ground moved
them. For the rest of the summer, I went to see her consistently every week on either Tuesday or
Thursday. Every week she would confirm I was making progress, but reminded me that if I push it too
hard the same problem will reoccur. The therapist told me that there is always a possibility that I could
hurt it again and have to go through the process for a second time. She even told me during the
summer, that volleyball was not bringing the pain back due to the lack of running. Even though we do
run, she explained it was not constantly running back and

HIPAA is the acronym for the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996. HIPAA is
responsible for health insurance coverage for workers and their families, especially when the worker
changes or loses their jobs. President Clinton signed this on August 21, 1996. It was considered a
Public Law 104 191. To decrease the organizational costs of health care a separate section is included
in the law. It is required by the law that all health plans, including ERISA, healthcare clearinghouses

It also protects the confidentiality and security of electronic health information. Virtually all segments
of health care are covered by this legislature. Any information about health care, which is transmitted
electronically, is covered by this legislature. One of the main purposes of HIPAA is to help the
Congress and the US Department of Health and Human Services to develop and enact the regulations
regarding the maintenance and transmission of health information regarding very patient. It is almost
impossible to integrate all the components of security like administrative procedures, physical
safeguards, technical security services etc. HIPAA gave a little bit new definition to the security
system: 1. The standard should be scalable or in other words all sizes of health care entities would
comply with the standard. 2. The standard should be comprehensive, i.e. the security system should
act as a unified system. It should not act as piecemeal products that do not communicate with each
other. 3. It should be technology neutral i.e. specific security technology should not be referred or
advocated. It should be kept in mind that technology is constantly evolving. To protect the reliability,
privacy and availability of electronic health date, HIPAA recommends several requirements that
should be incorporated in the final health care security standard. According to HIPAA the first
preference should be given to

Action Plan For The Tiger
Jonathan Turner
Action Plan for the Tiger, Panthera tigris
1. Description of Species
Description
The Tiger, Panthera tigris (Linnaeus 1758), is the largest of the cat species found in the world. Tigers
are most notable for their pattern of vertical stripes which can either be dark brown or black, and their
fur which can range from yellow to reddish orange, with the rare white fur present in some individuals
as well. Tigers can reach a total length of eleven feet. In the wild they have been known to weight up
to 857 pounds (Wood, 1983). The Bengal Tiger is the largest of the subspecies whereas the Sumatran
is the smallest. From the paw to shoulder tigers range in height from 2.3 to 4.0 feet tall (Karanth,

There is believed to be no wild South China tigers in existence with the number in captivity to be
around sixty five (World Wildlife Fund, 2014). There is between 400 and 500 Sumatran tigers
estimated to be in the wild as of 2014 (World Wildlife Fund, 2014). Distribution
In the past when the distribution of tigers was at its peak, tigers ranged from the Caspian Sea to
Siberia (Piper et al., 2007). In the Indonesian Islands they were predominantly found on Sumatra,
Java, and Bali. There has also been fossil evidence to conclude that at one point tigers were existing in
Borneo and the island of Palawan. Tigers became extinct in Western Asia during the 20th century and
became limited to the remaining parts of their circulation. Today their locations have been greatly
reduced to India, west of China such as Nepal and Bhutan, and also Southeastern Asia like
Bangladesh. Sumatra is the only island that is still inhabited by tigers (Chundawat et al., 2011). The
historical range of the tiger has diminished by 93% since the start of the 20th century and known area
occupied by tigers has reduced by 41% from 1997 to 2007 (Dinerstein et all., 2007).
Figure 1 A Bengal Tiger in Karnataka, India. Behavior
Tigers are carnivorous animals and are mostly nocturnal hunters. They feed mostly on deer, chital,
wild boar, gaur, and wild buffalo (Bagchi et al., 2003). They have also been seen to feed on

Gertrude Stein Analysis
Stein s life and the impact on her art The author of this poem, Gertrude Stein, was born in Allegheny,
Pennsylvania, and she is the youngest of five children. This prestigious modernist writer came from a
family of wealthy German Jewish immigrants, who unfortunately passed away. Her mother died of
cancer in 1888, and her father, a wealthy and known merchant, passed in 1891. When Gertrude was
still a young child, her family moved from Pennsylvania and went back to Europe. Stein spent her first
years in Vienna and later in Paris. In the year of 1879, she went back to America, and settled in
Oakland, California. Her brother Leo is one of her greatest influences. Since, of all brothers, they are
the closest, when he decided to leave Baltimore to enroll at Harvard, Stein decide to come along with
no sign of hesitation. Because of Harvard s policy to not allow women, Stein enrolled at the Harvard
Annex, the precursor to Radcliffe College, where she studied psychology for four years. Because of
her interest in the subject, Stein decided to pursue the field and went to medical school, where she
began to study at Johns Hopkins in the fall of 1897. With time her eagerness declined, and her grades
dropped. She had a history of depression, as you can see in her writing from the time, alongside with
the disappointment in her studies. She couldn t see herself in the traditional roles as wife and mother,
and there are even some people who can assure you that she was having homosexual

The Sources of English Law Essay example
The Sources of English Law In UK there are three main sources of English law, Legislation (Statue
Law), Common Law (Judge made Law) and the European Communities law. English Law was
historically based on customs and social traditions. Today Custom Law is a part of Common Law,
notably being in cases where there was no judicial precedent but which were known to exist since time
memorial (i.e. since 1189). Many of these laws such as the Fisherman s Case (1894) 2 East PC 661(

Parliament can delegate the power to legislate to various bodies such as local authorities, the Crown
and ministers. Delegated legislation has same legal force and effect as the Act of Parliament. The
advantages of delegated legislation are: time saving, access to particular expertise and, flexibility. On
the other hand it can be a disadvantage due to lack of accountability and effective scrutiny as it can
erode the constitutional powers of the Parliament. Another major source of law comes from judges
deciding cases before them, also referred to as Case Law. Judges use various rules to interpret
legislation and the intention of the Parliament. For example, in the case of Royal College of Nursing v.
DHSS [1981] 1 All ER 545, three judges gave their judgment using the mischief rule and two judges
used the literal rule to interpret the Abortion Act 1967, and the intention of the Parliament (173 and
174 Slapper G. and Kelly D. The English Legal System (5th Edition), (2001) Cavendish Publishing
Ltd, London, Sydney). One example of when judges have actually made new law is the case of R v. R
[1994] 4 All ER 48 decided in the House of Lords. The court re interpreted the legislation so that a
husband could be found guilty of raping his wife. Stare decisis or binding precedent is at the heart of
the English legal system and case law is particularly dependent on it. It refers to

Shirley Temple Analysis
Though her pregnancy is a critical detail in the story, Pecola s disfavor with her appearance is
pronounced in the way she dreams of having white skin and especially blue eyes. Claudia, one of
young girls that narrates describes Pecola s love for Shirley Temple as she states, Frieda and she had a
long conversation about how cu ute Shirley Temple was. I couldn t join them in their adoration
because I hated Shirley (Morrison 35). Pecola s idolization of Shirley Temple indicates how culture,
controlled by the dominant race, created the desire in young black girls to achieve the image of
whiteness . Prejudice reigns in the means in which these young girls see beauty. Carolyn Gerald

Pecola Breedlove s family and how they view themselves and Pecola, is another factor that contributes
to the way she develops her low self esteem. Morrison describes the family writing, They lived there

Although their poverty was traditional and stultifying, it was not unique. But their ugliness was
unique. No one could have convinced them that they were not relentlessly and aggressively ugly (33).

Bring Your Own Device
(Cons)
Bring Your Own device is a business policy of employees bringing personally owned mobile devices
to work and using those devices to access privileged company resources like email, file servers and
databases as well as personal applications and data. The types of devices that employees may use are
smart cell phones and laptops.
The reality is that there is no simple solution when it comes to regulating BYOD. Every organization
is different and there are number of different factors that have to be taken into consideration. First a
company will have to decide which employees will be allowed access, as well as the types of devices

As a first line of defense, many organizations enforce ActiveSync policies, preinstalled in most
consumer mobile devices, to enforce password protection and remote wipe and lock. More
sophisticated IT departments may request the installation of additional mobile device management
software agents to extend corporate IT reach into any application and functionality of your device.
While security and manageability are legitimate concerns for the company, most BYOD programs rely
on IT tools that don t make a clear separation between personal and corporate data and applications.
As a result, in case of unauthorized access a real or presumed situation the whole content of the device
is more or less likely to be deleted and the device will be unusable. In regards to privacy, from a legal
standpoint the fact that the employee owns the device holds no bearing in the event of litigation. As
mentioned earlier regarding discovery, the court may require forensic review of all devices in
connection with the litigation. An employee participating in a company s BYOD program may be
asked to produce their personal devices for a third party examination. The employee will have to make
any personal information stored in the device accessible. This also includes the history of websites
visited; songs and movies download and played copies of financial

FINANCIAL ANALYSIS
In order to analyze the proposal we compared the financial benefits for Axeon to support product
manufacturing in the UK versus the Netherlands. See exhibits 1 and 2 for cash flow comparisons
including financial summary.
As seen in the cash flow analysis, economically makes sense to manufacture the product in
Netherlands and ship it to U.K., that option has an NVP of £1,044,146 versus £915,976 NVP if the
product is manufactured in U.K.
ALTERNATIVE 1:
Build the manufacturing plant in U.K.
As proposed by Ian Wallingford, the building of a new manufacturing facility to produce AR 42 in
U.K. is financially viable and sustainable for at least 7 years.
Advantages:
The manufacturing process would be located in U.K. therefore it is easier to facilitate speed to market
by local distribution and management.
Higher sense of accountability for Hollandsworth as they would not only sale it but manufacture it as
well.
Disadvantages:
Lack of experience in developing and manufacturing a specialized product. This would be difficult in
assessing variable costs.
If the market analysis is not correct and the expected market share or sales volume are not reached,
Hollandsworth will end up with not acceptable levels of IRR. i.e., if there is a decrease in expected
market share of 27%, then

Law Enforcement Combating Deep Web Criminal Activity Essay
Security and privacy concerns present challenges for law enforcement combating deep web criminal
activity. Crimes committed on or with the Internet are relatively new. Those crimes include illicit trade
in drugs, weapons, wildlife, stolen goods, or people; illegal gambling; sex trafficking; child
pornography; terrorism and anarchy; corporate and sovereign espionage; and financial crimes. Police
agencies have been fighting an uphill battle always one step behind an ever evolving digital landscape
and the criminals who exploit it. The novelty of the Internet begets jurisdictional and legal issues law
enforcement must address while remaining ethical and holding to the code of law. Due to the
anonymous nature of deep web criminal activity and the means for uncovering perpetrators, privacy
concerns of citizens legally using the same software or websites are now a hot topic.
The Internet is vast. To the casual user, the Internet represents the collection of those websites
accessible via search engines such as Google or Bing. Search engines function by utilization of a web
crawler which locates and indexes linked pages that are then provided as search results when it meets
a particular search s criteria. But, those web crawlers are only able to identify static pages, leaving out
the dynamic pages of the deep web. Imagine a commercial fishing trawler on the open ocean pulling
in its catch. The trawler only gathers fish from just barely below the surface and misses the massive

  • 2. I Want to Pursuit a Profession in Radiology Essay The potential profession I am going to pursue is Radiology. Radiology deals with taking x rays of the body and diagnosing what you find wrong. How the radiology unit works is getting a patient and having the radiologist technician take images of the body by using machines. Different types of machines such as, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), and positron emission tomography (PET), identify all the images being taken of the human body (Phillip Costello, 2014). After the images have been taken they are sent to the radiologist to be interpreted. After being interpreted the patient is then told their diagnoses. Each of these steps involves writing in a certain form. Writing is a form of communication in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The radiologist technician takes the x ray of a certain part of the body needed for the radiologist to interpret. The technician can write side notes about the patient while taking the x ray. After it is taken they are given to the radiologist to interpret. The radiologist will then write a report or diagnosis of what the x ray shows of the patient. These can show tumors, blood flow, and inflammation. The radiologist writes this interpretation for physicians to read. They often give the patient a diagnosis. After interviewing Dr. Clyde Helms who had worked at Duke Hospital of Radiology Medicine we discussed how writing is important, what the diagnosis of x rays are mostly about and how long they are. The most common topic is variable ranging from fractures to cancer. (Helms, 2014) The writing of the interpretation can be multiple pages but is usually short. It is important for the radiologist to be specific because the physician will diagnose the patient. During the day radiologists will have to interpret a lot of scans of different parts of the body. Today technology helps speed up the process for radiologists so they do not have to write, instead they talk into a microphone that recognizes their voice and writes the information in the computer for them. The microphone isn t as efficient as the radiologists want to be but it still helps in the end. The microphone isn t as efficient because it doesn t pick up exactly what the ... Nobody really knows for sure what happened to her but there are many theories on what happened. That by itself is a very long flight for back then, but she wanted to step it up by flying across the whole world. (Crouch) Amelia Earhart disappeared on July 2, 1937. Emirau Island, off Papua New Guinea, seems an unlikely place to find Earhart because it s far from the spot where her last radio transmissions occurred. Still, a U.S. Navy crew member in World War II told of being sent to the island and spotting a photo of Earhart tacked up in the hut of a local man. The photo showed Earhart standing with a Japanese military officer, a missionary and a young boy. The sailor alerted naval intelligence officers, who allegedly took the photo from the hut against the owner s wishes. The photo has never been found. Since Emirau Island had been a haven for Europeans stranded after a shipwreck in 1940, it s likely the photo contained a lookalike and not the real Amelia Earhart. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. What Role Should Illegal Drugs What role should illegal drugs have in the future of medicine? In the UK drugs legislation classified 5 schedules in which substances must be categorised. The Schedule 1 groups the substances that are considered of no therapeutic value, thus they are determinate illegal. It is not possible to buy or own those substances and the use of them in research may be authorised only with a Home Office licence. Although this legislation might discourage the research on illegal drug for therapeutic purpose, recent studies suggest that magic mushrooms, LSD and MDMA could help with mental and physical pathologies. This essay will briefly describe how substances operate in the body. In addition, there will be an investigation on the use of illegal drugs for therapeutic purpose. According to the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, it is considered a drug any natural or chemical substance that has the property of affecting the structure or function of the body. However, this definition do not include food. Drugs can be administrated by injection, orally, inhaled, insufflations, rectally or topically. After the drug has been administrated it is absorbed by the body and directed to the blood stream. The timing of this process will depend on the drug itself and the method of administration that has been used. From here the molecules derived from the drug are absorbed by the cells, where chemical reactions occur. When the molecules have been discharged from the cell, they are taken back in the ... However, these are actually legal definitions which may vary from state to state. Hunting or consumption is not used to manage non game species, except in the case of managing predators impacting endangered species. However, game species, typically thought of in terms of hunting, are alternatively appreciated non consumptively as well. • 8. MFA Thesis Exhibition Last week I visited the George Caleb Bingham Gallery to see an artist s work. Her name was Mary Margaret Sandbothe and her collection of art was at the MFA Thesis Exhibition. Now, I am not one for looking at art and being able to interpret it easily, but when I arrived to see her work I was pleasantly surprised. I was in awe of artwork at first glance. First, what I noticed was that the main overlook of all her pieces included same sex relationships or couples. Furthermore, it exemplified families with same sex parents. For example, there was one piece that had presented two dads with an African American child. This shows the reality of what the world is like today. People don t want to accept change, but she is putting it out there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One piece presents two men lying on a blanket in a park enjoying the day outside. Normally, all couples do this. Now, the society we live in people would look at this like it was uncommon, but slowly people are starting to accept this as the norm. The other piece shown is two men sitting at a table with their son seemingly helping him with his homework like a happy family. Yes, she is presenting how families do work with same sex marriages if you are open to it. At least that is what I see in my opinion. Lastly, she had another piece of two men looking marry while holding a newborn baby. This could possibly mean that they had adopted or fostered a child. It s a beautiful sight because they are so happy and blessed to have this baby in their life. Again, Sandbothe is prominently making a statement here about our society and its view on same sex relationships. Now, with that being said, she had many pieces presented in her work at this exhibit and I found it very intriguing how bold she was. She is not only speaking for the LGBT community, but also speaking to our society and how we should be more accepting of change. The world is continuously evolving and we must not sit back and expect it to go back to the way it was. We must embrace ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Thomas Reflection Kaleb Harriott Bible 10 9/2/2017 Thomas I can relate to Thomas because of these four ways. Thomas was doubtful and worked hard at finding out the truth. He helped out others believe in Jesus even though they have never seen Him. He taught about Jesus to others. And he struggled a lot throughout his life with Jesus. Thomas doubted and so he worked hard at finding out the truth. He always doubted because of his faith, he wanted to see with his own eyes instead of believing what he wanted to see. For example when Jesus was crucified on the cross he was speared in the chest and nailed to the cross from his wrists. When Jesus was resurrected He visited the group of disciples but Thomas wasn t with the group at the time. So when Thomas came to them they told him about the good news but he didn t believe them unless he saw and felt Jesus wounds in his wrists and chest. Jesus then invited Thomas to see Him so he did and Thomas felt his wounds and believed. The way I work hard is my schedule; I have to wake up go to swim practice from 5:00 to 7:00. Then I have to go to school for six hours and do a lot of assignments for each class. After each class they assign homework which usually takes another two hours after school. Then I have to go to swim practice again for another two hours. When I m finished with practice I have to go eat dinner, then I go home around 8:00 8:30. I have to do my homework which takes forever and go to bed late and wake up early the next morning for practice. It s hard to do mostly because of the amount of school work we have. When I have to wake up for practice it makes it even harder because I put in all my effort and end up tired before school and makes it harder to concentrate. Then after school I have to practice really hard again, and by the time I get home I m exhausted and just want to go to sleep, but I have to stay up and do a lot of homework. I keep doubting that I won t be able to get my work done on time or work hard at practice. I just try to do my best at either my school work or swimming no matter what. Thomas was an inquisitive man. Thomas curious mind led him to doubt God s work in the world, but also led him to discover answers to his questions, which led him to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Psalm 114 Essay Psalm 114 is a praise psalm. This psalm functions to unite Israel in their shared history as a people who God had provided for when they relied on him. Wherever Israel was during the composing of this particular psalm, they likely needed to be reminded of such things as God s faithfulness. It may be that because of this psalm s emphasis on God s dominance of the earth that there was a famine or a long winter Israel had to endure. Whatever their situation, this psalm praises God s presence, providence, and control over the earth. Verses 1 2 The verse 1 parallelism is both semantic and syntactic. Judah was the told by his father, The scepter shall not pass from Judah (Genesis 49: 8 12). Therefore, Judah (David was of his lineage) has been the place of rule. The place of rule in the second verse here becomes the place of God s holiness or his sanctuary. In the larger scale, Israel becomes God s dominion. Thus rather than speaking of a king or other ruler, God is the one who rules. Verse 3 4 The sea, the Jordan, the mountains, and the hills are all personified as turning back and taking flight. This is to highlight the incredible nature of the event, as well as poetically describe exactly what happened. The sea really did flee to either side as Israel crossed. With mention of the bodies of water and the mountains and hills, there seems to be an emphasis on the fact that those things were conquered. The chaos of the waters and the indomitability of the mountains and hills are not only overcome, they take flight out of fear. Verses 5 6 Verses 5 and 6 are rhetorical questions that repeat the subjects of the previous two verses in the same order. These two verses do not explicitly tell us anything new, they only ask why. Thus far, the first four verses have been telling us what and now the psalmist rhetorically asks, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Analysis Of A House Of My Own Sandra Cisneros composes an engaging memoir in A House of My Own that is imperative to the coming of age of young adults today. Her memoir not only contains compilations of her childhood, family, and writing, but also includes her unabashed journeys and internal battles faced in order to proclaim an identity for herself as a strong, independent Chicana woman. The title of the novel alone is an example of a peregrination Cisneros undergoes in order to discover what the meaning of a home means exclusively to her soul searching adventure while also aiding her outlook on life itself. When first reading her novel, the reader may believe Cisneros is pursuing a long term residency merely for the sake of how she was raised as a child. Throughout her personal essays, Cisneros refers back to her formative years when her family seemed to be continuously traveling all over the United States. Cisneros conveys this by saying, When I was a girl [my family] traveled to Mexico City so much I thought my grandparents house on La Fortuna, number 12, was home. It was the only constant in our nomadic ramblings from one Chicago flat to another (Cisneros 78). These frequent relocations causes her to lack crucial friendships for a child, leading to an unhealthy mentality of an introvert. As a result, this takes a toll on Cisneros seeing as she never has the ability to properly build communication skills and lacks a permanent residence that can last more than a certain period of time until she has ... Same is the case for Jean and Pierre. Following the four basic principles of Act Utilitarianism, Rule Utilitarianism, Social Contract Theory, and Kantianism his actions will be discussed in the following paper. Examining his actions, he was in favor of following the moral instinct of Utilitarianism more than any other theory. Rule utilitarianism is a branch of utilitarianism that suggests an action is ethical if it follows the rule of greatest good. It is a moral rule that most people follow due to its greater benefits. It is a rule to judges people based on their actions, which follow the universal moral principles to result in greatest happiness. In this scenario, Jean s actions are judged which involves hacking into the networking system, impersonating a doctor, and saving his nephew s life. Of all these three acts saving the life of child provides the greatest good. Although, his act in unethical, but his pure intentions and the severity of allergic reaction makes it morally ethical to breach network security and prescribe a drug by impersonating a doctor. Therefore, I believe rule utilitarianism provides a moral obligation to save a life of a child over hacking into the networking systems and following the laws. This was first discovered by Fujishima and Honda in 1972, where the photocatalystic properties of titanium dioxide were found to be applicable. It was shown that by converting ultraviolet light energy, this compound acts as a catalyst to produce hydroxyl in the presence of moisture in the air. Hydroxl then can oxidize and convert these harmful pollutants to HNO3. The reason that this is useful is because nitrogen oxide is a common pollutant which has many adverse effects to society. Nitrogen oxides may form into nitric acid which contributes to acid rain, and it also chemically reacts to sunlight and changes into ozone which additionally has many adverse health effects for living organisms and non living things alike. The health related issues are a major reason to reduce emissions of NOx because although health is important, money is an issue as well. In California an independent study conducted from 2005 to 2007 found that nearly 30,000 visits in the state were due to California failing to meet both federal and state standards for PM and ozone. The reason I chose this article was because I find anything with Europe interesting. I went to Germany as a class trip with my German class my senior year of highschool and completely fell in love with the culture. While on this class trip we stopped in many different parts of Europe as well. Having been to see of the places and seeing how the culture is now, defiantly had some influence. Although one problem I have encountered while typing this article is the Schengen Agreement. Yes it might have worked then, but as the war in Syria has caused many of the refugees to flee to different parts of Germany and Europe. The Schengen Agreement is starting to cause panic for all of the countries involved. Since there is no border patrol the refugees can flee to anyone of the countries freely without a passport. Meaning they cannot stop them from coming through. Having witnessed firsthand some of the PEGIDA riots while in Europe I can see a problem in the process of happening. Having their borders open now in the 21st century could be more of a problem then they anticipated. The benefits however make it easy for people to travel to work, stop the mafia obviously but also maintains a trust with the people of the agreement and the government enforcing it. I do believe that this article was useful in giving background information on how Italy slowly started to get rid of the mafia, and how the rest of Europe banded together and used their forces to overcome most of the mafia influences in Europe. Finally, the most surprising aspect that made this book a decent read is that the authors did somewhat succeed on their attempt to provide a well balanced and un biased ranking of the presidents through survey of professional scholars. Although, there are a few more aspects to this historical and political work that makes it a great read there are flaws that make this book s ranking of the presidents a little questionable. The first and most likely the hardest to see is that the many authors that wrote the essays of each president did not agree with the survey results while some did. The second flaw is that not every president up to George W. Bush is represented on the ranking appendix on pages elven and twelve. The authors mention that presidents George W. Bush, the ninth president William Henry Harrison, and 20th president James Garfield is not being represented on the chart (pg. 12). George W. Olsen argues in contrast to many others, that the Maastricht Treaty was not year zero in the EU citizenship discourse (Olsen 2008, p. 40). His study deals with the time before the general discussion over the European citizenship started in the 1970s (cf. ibid, p. 41ff.) The article s main finding states that European citizenship has been in existence from the European integration s starting point, the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC). Olsen defines his concept of citizenship as a status of individuals in relation to a political unit (ibid, p. 41) which he divides in the four dimensions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 53). That is clearly contradicting to his own finding before and generally seems to be too big of a stretching of his concept. He merely speculates about the status of membership in that case. It can also be argued that the coal and steel workers were of course included in the wording of the contract, because it was their industries that were being integrated. But an equivalence of the coal and steel workers to European Citizens on such thin arguments is rather far fetched. Secondly, during applying the membership dimension on the Rome Treaties, Olsen again confuses workers and producers as members or citizens, although he himself, as before, states that the prevailing image is one of a focus on individuals as workers and producers (ibid, p. 47). So by wrongly applying the membership dimension, Olsen again disproves his own argument. Thirdly, Olsen analyses preambles of the aforementioned treaties and documents on several occasions. Unfortunately he only derives speculations and conjectures out them. E.g. the preamble of the free movement Regulation 1612/68 states that the freedom of movement constitutes a fundamental right of workers and their families as well as it gives a guarantee for the possibility of improving [the worker s] living and working conditions and promoting his social advancement (ibid, p. 50). The theoretical yield was calculated to be 1.3 g. However, the actual yield obtained was greater than the theoretical yield; in other words, the actual mass of the product was higher than the theoretical mass. The two peaks next to each other, 2360.23 cm 1 and 2341.78 cm 1, most likely indicated a nitrile or alkyl stretch. These peaks disappeared in the spectrum for the crystallized 3 nitrochalcone, though. The peaks were most likely as the result of an incomplete reaction or a reaction that did not go to completion. The product probably did not completely tautomerize, showing an alkyl or nitrile group. The crude product was also not completely dried, as indicated from the presence of an OH group at the 3383.38 cm 1 peak. Figure 2 depicts the infrared spectrum of the crystallized product. The two peaks, signifying the nitrile or alkyl stretch, were still on the spectrum, but smaller. However, a peak at 3380.36 cm 1 indicates that an OH stretch is still present in the crystallized product. This verifies that the product was not pure; that OH group was likely from methanol, the solvent used to purify the crude product. Another major source of law comes from judges deciding cases before them, also referred to as Case Law. Judges use various rules to interpret legislation and the intention of the Parliament. For example, in the case of Royal College of Nursing v.
