Similarities Between Coaching And Feedback
Feedback versus Coaching: Same or Different? There are similarities between feedback and coaching,
and in fact feedback is a part of coaching. Feedback on its own may seem to be a much shorter process
of giving comments or advice about something that has or has not happened, and usually ends by
someone making suggestions or asking how it could be done better. Coaching adds to feedback by
providing a process for change, adding support for commitment to action. How to Provide Feedback
Effectively Giving and receiving feedback has long been considered to be an essential skill for
managers and leaders. Employees need to know how they are doing as they strive to achieve their
organisation s goals. They need to know how they are doing, whether the performance is up to
standard, and if not, how they can improve. When improvement is needed, The S/TAR concept
provides an effective method for providing feedback about the behaviour or results observed. The
approach should also include suggestions or prompts towards how to handle the situation in the future.
For example, let s say you observed an employee refusing a request from another department. You
could use the STAR concept to provide feedback on what you ... Show more content on

Managers then meet to recalibrate and gain final agreement on performance levels; this becomes a bun
fight, and many of those rated at exceeds level are reappraised at meets , which can be discouraging.
The idea that five people in a work group could all be performing equally, but must be ranked from
one to five in order to divide up compensation dollars, seems unfair. In fact, many employees cite
informal, forced ranking as their major source of frustration with their organisation s performance
management system. This approach often results in fostering competitive rather than collaborative

Judgment in Peter Shaffer s Equus and Albert Camus The...
Personal judgment in Peter Shaffer s Equus and Albert Camus The Stranger, though internal in the
first and external in the latter, mirrors society s judgment of those who differ from the norm. The two
postmodernist authors both use judgment as a tool to promote the postmodern idea that society
oppresses and criticizes people who are not like everyone else. Camus and Shaffer place specific
motifs and elements into their novels in order to push the idea of societal judgment on the reader.
However, while the ideas may be the same, Camus and Shaffer use them contrastingly. Shaffer tends
to use judgment of the self while Camus leans towards judgment of others, but the judgment
ultimately leads back to people who do not conform to the norm. ... Show more content on

The combination of the setting of a trial, the inspection of Meursault, and the anonymity of the jurors
leads to an unmistakable sense of external evaluation and consequently societal judgment in The
Stranger. Camus and Shaffer use these physical elements in their works in order to permeate both texts
with a sense of societal criticism. Shaffer and Camus pass judgment on Dysart and Meursault through
their lack and removal of passion. In Equus, Dysart specifically mentions the lack of passion in
himself. When speaking to Hesther, Dysart criticizes himself for his fake love for the wild and
primitive. He states, I settled for being pallid and provincial, out of my own eternal timidity (2.25).
This statement, just a small part of the entire rant against himself, is opposed by Hesther. Dysart, as a
psychiatrist, tries to remove emotion and individuality from his patients, specifically Alan. Unlike
Hesther, who sees psychiatry as removing pain, Dysart judges himself for becoming a person who
removes uniqueness. Alan contains too much emotion to ever be considered normal and as the play
continues Dysart becomes more and more opposed to fixing him. Dysart s specific speeches about
how he hates himself for becoming impassionate and removing the passion in his patients contrast
with society s normal views. These rants, because they are in

Negro
Flannery O Connor at the mid of the XX century (before the signing of the Civil Right act) wrote the
story of The enduring chill, which through the word Negro reflects the racisms of that time. Currently,
the word negro is a contemptuous terminology used to refer to people of African American
ascendency popularized in the mid 16th century (Oxford dictionary). Since the slavery started until
1964, neither the church nor the USA government recognized the African American people as humans,

Ask Him to send the Holy Ghost. ( O´Connor 376) In this part, the text do not seems to be based on
the verse of acts 3:28, Repent and be baptized,[a] every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the
forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the holy Spirit. (Bible gateway) Showing that
the final act it is like a baptism for Asbury. Also, even when Asbury is a sinner, God forgives and
allows him to receive the holy Ghost given her nature. Which seems to be based on Corinthians 12:13,
For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free persons,
and we were all given to drink of one Spirit. (Bible gateway) Showing that the story ends changing the
whole course of the life of Asbury, because accepting the Holy Ghost, he receives His gifts and

Pete Rose And The Hall Of Fame
My controversial topic is on Pete Rose and how he should be inducted into Baseball s Hall of Fame.
Pete Rose was a player that I looked up to when I was a young boy playing baseball. I was a big fan of
his collecting all of his baseball cards from rookie year up to the present time. Now, most of the
baseball critics and others do not want Pete Rose inducted. They claim that his illegal betting on
baseball games should keep him out of the Hall of Fame.
Almost all of the highly questionable evidence that Commissioner Bart Giamatti held was derived
from former friends and associates of Rose. Up to $30,000 per day , so some of Roses close friends
say. These former friends of Rose are Tommy Gioiosa, Donald Stenger, Mike Fry, and Paul Janszen.
This evidence is what prompted the banishment from baseball of Pete Rose, which he signed. The
evidence was enough for the Commissioner. In 1989, baseball s Commissioner Bart Giammati
suspended Pete Rose from association with professional baseball for life for gambling. Rose also spent
five months in a minimum security prison for tax evasion in 1990. He did not report cash money he
accepted for signing baseballs and photographs at baseball card shows. It is still to this day not proven
that Rose did bet on the baseball team that he was managing. Rose himself still holds true to his
statement that he never bet on the game of baseball. Evidence is minimal and it has been over ten
years, yet he is still ineligible to be voted into

Conservative Views On Liberal And Conservative
I am far from being certain about how liberal or conservative I am or will be. Growing up I had a very
conservative mother and liberal father, so I like to believe that I fall somewhere in the middle. There
are concepts from the liberal side, mostly involving equality among individuals that I support. There
are also conservative concepts that I side with as well, such as limited government and... However, at
my age (21) I am still figuring out which specific values I favor other others. There is a motto out
there that insists on not determining your opinions deffinate until at least thirty and I couldn t agree
more. Earlier in the semester our class was asked if young people could handle the responsibility of
being a congressman or president. I don t believe a single person agreed that it would be a good idea
to have someone of a young age making decisions for a large sum of people. This is because we are
just now coming face to face with things like voting, taxes, and loans. As we acquire more and more
knowledge, our views on topics change and eventually this shapes our character and public ideology.
With the help of media I and my peers contribute to public opinion with our posts being broadcasted

excellent job grabbing the attention of many generations to keep our nation informed. Unfortunately

Investigating The Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue...
Whether it be elite athletes or weekend warriors, all athletes have experienced muscle tightness that
impacted their athletic performance. I wanted to investigate whether instrument assisted soft tissue
mobilization (IASTM) was more effective at reducing hamstring muscle tightness than foam rolling in
high school athletes. Most high school athletes work very hard at practice and in the weight room and
therefore, hamstring muscle tightness is very common. I chose the high school population because I
want to work in the high school setting following graduation. I wanted to investigate if IASTM
techniques could be more effective in the high school to reduce lower extremity muscle soreness than
foam rolling. The case series by Baker, Nasypany, Seegmiller Baker (2013) investigated the
effectiveness of IASTM for treatment of hamstring tissue extensibility dysfunction. Tissue
extensibility dysfunction (TED) includes ROM limitations during standing flexion test, sit and reach
test, passive and active straight leg hip flexion and 90/90 active knee extension test (Baker et.all). The
participants in this study consisted of three collegiate athletes who can had long lasting tightness in the
lower extremities, and exhibited hamstring TED. All patients had baseline active range motion
measurements taken. The participants recorded their pain during activity using the numerical rating
scale (NRS) during the initial examination. The participants received three IASTM treatments a week

Social Revolutions Lead to Political Reform: How the Renaissance, Reformation, and Scientific
Revolution Led to a more Secular and Democratic Political Atmosphere. Since the beginning of time
cultural views have influenced and shaped our society but never has more change occurred than
during the Renaissance, Reformation, and Scientific Revolution. We leave the middle ages a society of
Kings and feudal life and emerge with the beginnings of modern political theory. The Renaissance was
a defining moment in history where old became new and ideas on science, nature, and education
flowed like a rushing river. The impact on authority was great and lasting in its effect to the world.

The two understood citizens rights as well as Parliament s power, effectively becoming an excellent
example of a limited monarchy with consent of the people (Matthews, Platt, 387). This learning led to

general.
The English historian Herbert Butterfield once wrote:
The revolution in science overturned the authority in not only
of the Middle Ages but of the ancient world it ended not only
in the eclipse of scholastic philosophy but in the destruction of
Aristotelian physics. The scientific revolution outshines
everything since the rise of Christianity and reduces the
Renaissance and Reformation to the rank of mere episodes,
mere internal displacements within the system of medieval
Christianity. (Scientific Revolution, 6) This may be true however, as Newton said so eloquently, If I
have seen further it is because I have stood on the shoulders of giants. (Scientific Revolution, 7)
Without the inquisitive spirit and energy of the Renaissance, or the reglious examination of the
Reformation, the Scientific Revolution may never have had its beginning. Only in the last fifty years
has the western world seen as much political, cultural and scientific change. The 1960 s social
evolution in the U.S. changed our

William Penn Influence On Society
On October 14th, 1644, the son of Anglican Admiral Sir William Penn, was born. While persecution
was occurring throughout the world, William Penn founded an American sanctuary which secured
freedom of conscience. As Europeans solved the issue of land with Native Americans by violence,
Penn negotiated peacefully, disarmed. He had advocated for women s equality, presented a written
constitution to Pennsylvania, provided a human penal code, and protected several principal liberties
(Powell).
Penn commenced his education at a local grammar school. Overwhelmed by curiosity, he continued
his studies at the University of Oxford, where he was expelled two years later (1662) due to his
religious rebellions. In an effort to cease his son s revolts, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At that time, Penn was in considerable debt as his plans to sell of land in Pennsylvania did not work to
his advantage, but put him into further debt with the King. Sir William knew he was dying and did not
have much time so agreed to pay off his son s debt in exchange for William to visit him without
persecution. At that time, William Penn was told by his father to never go against his conscious and
instructed his son to not worry about the things he cannot change, ...be not troubled at
disappointments; for if they may be recovered, do it; if they can t trouble is vain (Peare 125).
William Penn arranged a funeral for a hero after his father passed. Prior to his father s passing and
prior to his debts being paid off, William was considered to be underground and hiding from the
collectors and the government, but with his debt paid, he was free to walk the streets without worry of
imprisonment. As the firstborn, William was left the entire estate of his father. Thanks to the
inheritance, he was then free to spend his life dedicated to the cause of the Quakers (Doherty

Confucianism vs Legalism
Chen Hanyu A0110820B Tutorial D5
Question 1: Introduction
For this paper, I will be discussing two opposing ideologies, Confucianism and Legalism. Towards the
later part of ancient China (e.g Han dynasty), states started to adopt a mixture of Confucianism and
Legalistic ideology. Why did Legalism and Confucianism fall off?
In this paper I will explore and provide my own insights on the shortcomings of both ideologies; how
Legalism was more persuasive in getting people to accept their ideas and more effective as an
ideology and how Confucianism lost out in both aspects.
Persuasiveness of Legalism
The central idea of legalism was to provide absolute power to the person in charge and the supremacy
of authority. Legalists like Han Fei Zi ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although it was well known that Confucius was elevated to high status after his death, his political
career was not as successful. Confucius spent many years trying to promoting his ideas to rulers in
different states but was not able to get through4. To understand why such a visionary philosopher
could not get others to agree with him, we will have to look at the nature of the Confucian theory and
why was it incapable of persuading the lords of countries.
Firstly, Confucianism prized the rule of men over the rule of law; that is to promote harmony in the
people over the interest of a ruler. If a ruler has appropriate personal conduct the government will be
effective without needing to issue order. However, the ruler do not have the correct conducts, his
orders will not be obeyed.
Secondly, Confucius viewed rules and laws as harmful. He argued that people led by laws and
punishments will try to avoid punishment but lose the sense of shame. If they are led by virtue and
guided by propriety, they will preserve their sense of shame and become good citizens5. He saw a
country as an extended family and a ruler should take care of his citizens like a father would take care
of his children. The ruler as the father would need to set a proper example for the right ethics to flow
down5.
Thirdly, the Confucianism school did not value institutions in inducing desirable

Anger Manifestation Psychology
The American Psychology Association defines anger as an emotion characterized by antagonism
toward someone or something you feel has deliberately done you wrong. Anger can also be a good
thing. It can give you a way to express negative feelings or motivate you to find solutions to problems.
Conversely, brain damage in specific areas may cause anger manifestation to be different as certain
parts of the brain are responsible for specific functions.
The dorsolateral prefrontal cortex is responsible for cognitive processes. It is a region in the frontal
lobes toward the top and side. Meaning that it is responsible for executive functions. The DLPFC aids
in decision making. It is also important in decision making. The dorsolateral prefrontal cortex ... Show

Moreover, the amygdala is structure within the medial temporal lobes of the brain (Kolb Wishaw). It is
part of the limbic system and is responsible for emotions and aggression. Furthermore, the amygdala

The aforementioned anger is identified as a strong negative emotion can be further understood through
the James Lange Theory of Emotion. This theory was developed by William James and Carl Jange

experience of emotion. The theory suggests that the physiological change is primary and the emotion
is then experienced when the brain reacts to the information received (Kolb Wilshaw). When people
get angry, they are physiologically affected first before the anger emotion takes

A Comprehensive System Integration Service
Case Corporation, a producer of agricultural equipment identified the need for a comprehensive
systems integration service. Upon acknowledging such a need, it became evident that in order for Case
to continue to thrive in the agricultural market it must leave its comfort zone in pursuit of a systems
integration service. Before doing so Case must assess the fit of the organization s current
competencies against the changing needs of the market. Therefore, the success of such a systems
integrator is contingent on several factors, including Case s relationships with their dealers, the level
of trust between them and the consumer, current financial capabilities, and their global presence.
The dealers, critical members of the Case team handled much of the inventory, assessed the credit of
potential buyers, missed church on Sunday to fix broken equipment during the planting season, and
handled all of Case s used equipment (Case Corporation, 1997, pg. 7). Therefore, since the dealer has
direct access to the consumer they are better able to assess the needs of the farmer. Many farmers have
developed long personal relationships with their dealers, and were as loyal to the dealers themselves
as they were to the product; to most customers, the dealer was Case (Case Corporation, 1997, pg.8).

A Rhetorical Analysis Of This Is Water By Foster Wallace
Foster Wallace s commencement address on May 21, 2005, This is Water, proposes the concept of
being able to choose how to think instead of being able to learn what to think expresses the true idea
of enlightenment. Through detailed imagery that creates a contemptuous tone, repetition of diction
that creates emphasis , and anecdotes that arouse interest, Wallace successfully defends his proposition
on the true meaning of being educated; to be able to discipline yourself to override the default setting
of selfishness and switch on a more empathetic attitude towards life and others. Finally, despite many
views of contradiction, Wallace s tragic suicide three years after this speech further builds on his
theory of awareness. Although he was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The detailed imagery used in this speech engaged the audience by appealing to their senses,
specifically sight. For example, when describing the typical day of an adult, Wallace describes the last
minute trip to a local supermarket after a long day at work with words that describe an agitated
customer in a deaded area. The store is hideously lit, infused with soul killing muzak, or corporate
pop.. maneuvering your junky cart through all these tired, hurried people with carts.. (Wallace 5).
Furthermore, Your creepy, flimsy, plastic bags of groceries on your cart with the one crazy wheel that
pulls maddingly to the left.. through the crowded, bumpy, lottery parking lot.. (Wallace 5) also
contained wording that painted a picture in our minds. By using specific words that perfectly describe
the supermarket as a cringy environment that would irritate any average consumer, many people are
able to relate to Wallace s anecdote. Second, Wallace furthermore uses familiar diction to create
visuals that the audience can also relate to: End of the day traffic.. Huge, stupid, lane blocking SUV s..
Burning wasteful, selfish, forty gallon tanks of gas.. Driven by the ugliest, most inconsiderate
aggressive drivers.. ( Wallace 6). By illustrating the frustration of a daily traffic jam through words
that create a ranting tone, Wallace assures the older audience he knows the situations they have to
cope with constantly, and thus creating an interrelationship. By using words that create visual
representations with an audience that are able to relate to, Wallace creates a connection of
understanding. By using metaphors and similes, Wallace creates a vibrant presentation of a scene that
appeals to the audience s senses. The use of describing the market and street as annoying as possible
helped aid the audience in envisioning the scene as a whole. Words like

Emergency Fund Essay
How to Build an Emergency Fund
Whether or not you call it an emergency or rainy day fund it is all the same.
Basically, it is a pot of money set aside just in case something happens that is unforeseen i.e., a job
loss or illness.
During the economic crisis this was some people s only and best line of defense against the loss of
their income or investments.
Emergencies are part of life. Being prepared could make all the difference.
What is an emergency fund?
An account that is used to set funds aside that are for worst case scenarios, such as medical illness, job
layoff, or other major expenses.
What is considered an emergency? It depends. An emergency to some may not be considered one to
others but a short list includes the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Benefits of having emergency savings
You are less likely to make bad financial decisions. I am sure no one wants to let the lack of money
cause them to make bad decisions. No knee jerk reactions required if funds are set in reserve. Read
about finances, save, then invest. When you know better you do better.
Less stress is a huge benefit. High stress can trigger all types of health problems from headaches to
heart disease. An emergency fund can help alleviate stressors as these.
Being able to help others. You can now volunteer, donate, or help family and friends when people are
in need. Helping others makes you feel good too. This is also a stress reliever. How much should you
have in an emergency savings?
I recommend 3 12 months worth of expenses. I have a preference for 8 months because when I lost
my job during the recession it took me that long to land a new job.
You should start with a specific goal in mind such as $500 and continue saving from there. NerdWallet
columnist, Liz Weston says $500 is a good place to start, will get you out of most predicaments, and
usually keep you out of the hole.
If you use direct deposit and automatically transfer $10 per week into a savings account, you can save

I have been through alot of bad things in my life but nothing is the same as waking up at 8 in the

My mother was the women I saw them taking her and I knew who they were too. Not literally the men

people I was running from. Very few even knew about their existence. Now I had to get out of the

around and the house exploded. I felt so many things at once if you ve ever seen a rag doll get thrown

A tale of two airlines case
F . WARREN MCFARLAN
Tale of Two Airlines in The Network Age: Or Why The Spirit of King George III Is Alive and Well!
As Professor Roger McPherson s wait to go through the security process a second time dragged on
into its third hour on this Spring day in 2002, (all passengers had to be rescreened upon the discovery
that one of the airport screening machines was unplugged) he was reminded of another delayed
business trip and the role that information technology played in the story.
At 5:30pm on February 15, 1995, 200 feet off the ground, Professor Roger McPherson gazed
anxiously through the fog as his airplane moved to touch down at Hartsfield Airport in Atlanta, more
than 1 hour and 15 minutes late. He had 30 minutes to catch his ... Show more content on

Flying to the United Kingdom to connect to Frankfurt would be a hassle and unnecessary since the
purpose of stopping in the United Kingdom was now totally negated. Glancing up at the departure
board, McPherson was surprised to see a 7:55pm boarding departure for a plane to Frankfurt, nine
gates away. Pulling into the gate at 8:02pm, he discovered several things:
1. The plane was at the gate, and with commendable dispatch the gate agent relieved him of his
London boarding pass and his London to Frankfurt ticket and hustled him onto the plane minutes
before the door closed.
2. The cabin attendant, giving him his favorite drink, explained that because of favorable tail winds
across the Atlantic and the fact that eight passengers (plus now McPherson and one other) had very
tight connections, they had decided to hold the plane for 15 minutes to get the extra passengers and
still arrive on schedule. The note of pride in the cabin attendant s voice was evident.
One and a half hours later, appropriately wined and dined, McPherson drifted off to sleep, reflecting
on what a remarkable case study had played out in front of him in the previous two hours. Information
technology, operations strategy, management control, an empowered (also unempowered) work force,
and service management had been interwoven into a tableau. A revised format for his speech in
Frankfurt began to emerge.

The Effectiveness Of A Connection
The Effectiveness of a Connection in Relation to a Tragedy As art becomes more prevalent, intricate,
and sophisticated in culture so does its impact on a viewer. A viewer must experience a work of art
and connect to it in order for it to be considered effective. Ajax by Sophocles can be considered a
work of art because of its ability to connect to an audience. Sophocles play follows a warrior named
Ajax who was threatening to kill Odysseus to obtain the armor he believed was rightfully his, which
causes the goddess Athena to cast a curse leaving him blind with rage and in a state where he
slaughters hordes of animals believing that they are his enemies. Ajax later becomes distraught to the
point of suicide. Bryan Doerries produced a version of Ajax to relate to veterans through his company,
Theater of War. This company s specific purpose is to de stigmatize psychological injury, increase
awareness of post deployment psychological health issues, disseminate information regarding
available resources, and foster greater family community, and troop resilience through the
performance of Ancient Greek plays to military and civilian communities (Outside the Wire). Because
of this purpose, the audience is able to form an intense connection with Ajax and fulfill the purpose of
art. While looking at Aristotle s Theory of Tragedy and the six most important features of a tragedy, it
becomes apparent that connection through all six features is the only way to create effective art.

How Do Interest Groups Influence Public Policy

Interest groups and advocacy groups have an undeniably strong influence in Washington, and while
the results of lobbying efforts are not often touted, they sway policy in areas like energy, housing,

MySpace can also be very beneficial in multiple ways. For example, if you miss a day at school and

Power In A Tale Of Two Cities
Power is the Silent Assassin Charles Dickens, a prosperous author by the age of twenty five, was born
in Portsmouth, England, on February 7, 1812. A Tale of Two Cities, written by Charles Dickens in
1859, is considered to be one of the darkest of the major books that he wrote. The novel is considered
dark because its takes place in England and France before and throughout the French Revolution. The
French Revolution was a ten year revolt of the peasants against the nobles that resulted in the deaths
of tens of thousands of people. In Dickens A Tale of Two Cities, imagery is used to change the reader s
attitude about the French Revolution by the characters use of revenge through the state of the peasants,
the cruelty of the French nobility, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The peasants have changed the laws since the French Revolution started, which is very hypocritical
considering one of the reasons for the war was to fight for justice against the nobles unjust court
system, and now they are doing the exact same thing to the nobles, even the innocent ones, for
revenge. An officer immediately jails Charles Darnay, an honorable man, into solitary confinement in
a prison named La Force because he is accused of being an emigrant. When the officer asserts,
Without doubt. You are consigned, Evremonde, to the prison of La Force (195), Darnay exclaims,
Under what law, and for what offence? showing the unexpectedness of his imprisonment. In this
novel, emigrants are nobles who have fled from their homes, and though Darnay denounced his family
name years before, he belongs to the Evremonde family, and therefore, must die. During the French
Revolution, the peasants commonly made vulgar jokes about the Guillotine, which was a new weapon
used to behead its victims. They laughed about the weapon and how they killed many people with it,
saying, it was the best cure for headache (212). We can conclude the reader no longer supports the
peasants nor wants the French Revolution to occur due to their inhumane behavior during the

Beautiful Girl Ding dong! The bell rang a couple of times. I got up from bed. After the third time, I

I closed the door and went to my room. I looked through the bedroom to find him walking down the

which being coffee which it produced about thirty seven thousand tons annually. Even further, the
commodities that were being exported from Haiti totalled approximately one third of France s external

The House Of The Scorpions Analysis
Throughout both The House of the Scorpions and On the Doctrine of the Feeling of Power, there are
many differences. These two articles are like comparing apples to broccoli as Mrs. White, my eighth
grade gifted English teacher, puts it. However, once you dig down deeper into the meaning of these
writings, you can find many similarities not easily seen on the surface. Conceiving of power, as
Nietzsche puts it, is more of a deceitful process. Nietzsche s process might be more for someone who
is looked at with little power. In other words, his process is more intended for power hungry people. I
believe that power should be obtained in respect and harmony. Obviously, my way will take longer to

One way that people use benefiting is, if someone is running for class president or any other thing that

opponent enemy. Obviously, they are not doing this in a negative way, all they are thinking about is
winning. This shows that sometimes you can be deceitful without even realizing it. An example of
pain is when a parent is punishing their child. The parent hates this process, but they know it is the
best thing to do for their child. All they want is to mature their child into a well formed human being.
As you can see, Nietzsche s ways are used in everyday life without us even knowing it. As you can

Essay on Contrast Between Catholic and Baptist Religion
Ask most people today if they have heard of Baptist and Catholic religion and most would say yes. In
many ways the two are very similar. For instance, both are based on the Christian faith, belief in the
trinity, and that God is the one true God. The two religions agree that Jesus died on the cross and rose
again to atone for our sins. They share a 27 book New Testament and insist that salvation comes from
Christ alone. On the other hand, while the Baptist and Catholic religions do have similarities, they also
have differences, such as their services, communion, and views regarding salvation. The first
difference between the two religions is their services. Roman Catholic services are held in sanctuaries

Baptists offer prayer to God through Christ during the service and reject the practice of praying to
Mary and the saints. The services are not nearly as laid out and ordered, with much less participation
by the church members during the service. . The second difference evident between the religions is the
partaking of Communion. In the Catholic Church, Communion is a very sacred act, and the members
are encouraged to receive it frequently. Communion is offered at each service and is always presided
over by the priest. The members believe that they are consuming the actual body and blood of Christ
during Communion, and are required to fast at least one hour prior to receiving it out of respect.
Communion is believed to be the most important of the seven sacraments by the church and required
to obtain salvation. On the other hand, Baptists rarely partake of Communion, and is usually reserved
for special occasions like Easter and Christmas. Some Baptist churches may partake every few months
or quarterly. Although, the pastor of the church normally presides over Communion, any member
designated by the church can do so. Baptist religion does not support the rule of fasting prior to
Communion, and believe it to be a symbolic reverence to Christ. It is not believed that the actual body
and blood of Christ are consumed during Communion. The

The Tale Of Fairy Tales Essay
Fairy tales have been told throughout time ever since gathering of people there s been demand for
telling stories to an audience. What started out as oral tales eventually evolved into written fairy tales.
People now began to write stories for the young children that would teach them important life lessons
that would be of major importance to them in the years to come. These lessons that were introduced
into fairytales played an important role in the development of their unshaped minds because these
tales would make it easier from to transition children into adolescence, and eventually into adults.
However, as these fairy tales evolved from being oral to written society also evolved alongside with it.
Society become became more advanced and sophisticated that the lessons that once had great meaning
in a way became obsolete. In many instances the lessons that were preached in the tales degraded the
roles of women by reducing to an object of marriage. It s important to remember that fairytales were
not intend to be seen as negative, in fact they originated as a means of good but the evolution of
society and ever so changing mindset of people has caused people to look at these fairytales in a new
scope. In doing so it was determined that fairy tales were no longer as good at teaching life lesson as
they once were. In order to make fairytales into what they once were there needs to another evolution

But this is common mistake, and these are two different styles each having its own history and
distinctive features. In this article, we will find out what characteristics contemporary style interior
has, and how to use this style to make room comfortable, functional and cozy.
First, it should be noted that contemporary style was formed in the second half of the twentieth

 Preferable materials are wood, metal, stone and glass.
Certainly, the central element of any bedroom is bed. In contemporary bedroom, it should be large and

Communication Research Studies
Mapping the field of communication research regarding its institutionalization implies examining the
graduate programs available, the journals published domestically, the fellowships in communication,
and the public funding with its bureaucracy. They constitute some of the features that trace the extent
and character of the configuration of the field and shape what has been done in Chilean
communication research.
Graduate studies in social sciences in Chile have been traditionally available in public and Catholic

Another outcome regarding the relative development of a field is the potential to organize and sustain
academic publishing forums. Indeed, journals nourish a public sphere that fuels the scholarly debates
within a specific area of knowledge. Journals might mobilize epistemological struggles, open up
interdisciplinary perspectives, and set the standards for the field, among other functions. In this case, I
describe the two longest published Chilean journals focused on communication: Comunicación y
Medios (Communication and Media) and Cuadernos.Info (Notebooks.Info).
Broader institutional and political contexts have shaped the sustainability, the scope, and the practices
carried out by both journals since their inceptions . Comunicación y Medios is edited by the Instituto
de la Comunicación e Imagen (Institute of Communication and Image, ICEI) at the University of
Chile since 1981. On the other hand, Cuadernos de la Información, renamed as Cuadernos.info in
2009, was launched in 1984 by the College of Communication at the Catholic University of Chile.

The Brand Of Soap And New Delhi By Recording Signals Using...
Abstract The aim of this research work is to classify the most favored brand of soap in New Delhi by
recording signals using wireless EEG through Neuromarketing. A set of four major soap brand
advertisements i.e. Pears, Lux, Cinthol and Dove are considered for this research. The advertisement
(video) of above these brands are used to stimulate the subjects (9 male and 9 female with age range
of 22 30 years) The response of the brain for the stimuli were composed using a 14 channel wireless
headset which has a sampling frequency of about 128 Hz. The recorded signals are processed using
fourth order Butterworth band pass filter. Then feature extraction is done to extract desired features
from the EEG signal. The mean value and then power of mean value of each soap brand is calculated.
The frequency spectrum of above soap brands is obtained through time frequency analysis using Short
Time Fourier Transform (STFT).The results so obtained are plotted in graphs for final analysis. The
present experimental results are analysed and it is indicated that the subjects are mostly inspired on

Evolution of Management Theory
CHAPTER ONE
1.0 INTRODUCTION
Managing is one of the most important human activities. From the time human beings began forming
social organizations to accomplish aims and objectives they could not accomplish as individuals,
managing has been essential to ensure the coordination of individual efforts. As society continuously
relied on group effort, and as many organized groups have become large, the task of managers has
been increasing in importance and complexity. Henceforth, managerial theory has become crucial in
the way managers manage complex organizations. It has to be unequivocally emphasized that
managers who mix management theories in their day to day practice, have better chances of managing
their organizations more efficiently ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Indeed, the purpose of an organizational structure is to help in creating an environment for human
performance. However, designing an organizational structure is not an easy managerial task because
many problems are encountered in making structures fit situations, including both defining the kind of
jobs that must be done and finding the people to do them.
Staffing involves filling, and keeping filled, the positions in the organization structure. This is done by
identifying work force requirements; inventorying the people available; and recruiting, selecting,
placing, promoting, appraising, planning the careers of, compensating, and training or otherwise
developing both candidates and current jobholders to accomplish their tasks effectively and efficiently.
Leading is the influencing of people so that they will contribute to organization and group goals; it has
to do predominantly with the interpersonal aspect of managing. Most important problems to managers
arise from people their desires and attitudes, their behavior as individuals and in groups. Hence,
effective managers need to be effective leaders. Leading involves motivation, leadership styles and
approaches and communication. Controlling, for example, budget for expense, is the measuring and
correcting of activities of subordinates to ensure that events conform to plans. It measures
performance against goals and plans, shows where negative deviations exist, and, by

Religion in America, 1492-1790
Religion in the New World exploded into the land with the colonization of thousands of immigrants. It
played an important role in the development of thought in the West. Religion was one of the first
concepts to spark the desires of people from other countries to emigrate to the new lands. While many
religions blossomed on the
American shores of the Atlantic, a basic structure held for most of them, being predominantly derived
from
Puritanism. Jamestown, the first permanent English settlement, showed the link the new settlers had to
God when Sir Thomas Dale said the following in 1610: Be not dismayed at all For scandall cannot

Confession,
Penance, Confirmation, Ordination, Marriage, Confession, and Last Rites were all looked upon as
invented by man.
The Puritans therefore considered these ceremonies not
Holy. The Puritans (Johnson, p.1) also rejected the
Catholic and Anglican Church s hierarchy and even their worship of symbols such as the cross,
statues, and stained glass windows. By 1630, Puritanism ruled New
England almost entirely. Massachusetts, Connecticut, and
New Hampshire were some of the colonies that relied on
Puritanism. As Samuel Eliot Morison states, New
Englanders, however they differed in property and occupation, had a common belief in the Bible as
the guide to life, and a uniform method of land division and settlement, (Morison, pg.167).
Governments based on the ideals of the religion represented in the town were emerging all over the
newly shaping country. The great majority of emigrants to New England were middle class farmers,
tradesmen and artisans. Since Puritanism did not condemn manual labor as some religions did, and
since every man no matter how poor could vote if he joined the church, independent yeoman farmers
quickly became the backbone of the community. In 1632, in the northern part of Virginia, an Anglican
colony, Charles I cut a slice of land for his friend, Lord Baltimore. Charles I intended to give Lord
Baltimore a monopoly of the commerce and fisheries

Analysis of Saving Private Ryan and Longest Day Essay
Analysis of Saving Private Ryan and Longest Day
On the beach in Northern France, an American Soldier searches frantically for his lost arm. Gunshots
emerge from all angles of the screen. As this soldier helplessly goes from one place to another, there
are more dead bodies piling up on Omaha Beach in Northern France. As this soldier collects his
separated arm from the battlefield and walks off into the horizon, Tom Hanks enters a rather explosive
battle. He leads his men into battle with nothing more than guns and a helmet. This is Spielberg s view
of D Day.

If we see that the area is light then it might be the fact that that area is safe. Where as the areas in the
shadows might be that the areas that are dangerous. The sound track helps us establish a lot in this
film because of the pace of the music and the style. It tells the audience whether or not the place the
characters are in is dangerous depending on the music or sound being played. The weapons the
characters carry varies from one person to another because only the soldiers of a high rank would
carry one. The setting/landscape of this film is important because you are shown the important objects
that reflect what is going on in the film.
The film Saving Private Ryan directed by Steven Spielberg in1998. It is set in 1944 but made in 1998
because it uses colour and more modern of the two films. It begins this scene on a boat where the
soldiers are on a boat eating and drinking before landing on the Omaha Beach in Northern France.
Some of the soldiers are sea sick which means that they don t want to come to battle but are forced to
come. When they reach the shores of Omaha Beach, the tank traps are a lot smaller. The opposition
are already firing gunshots at Tom Hanks even before arriving on the beach to get as many killed

Gary Nash Essay
In the essay written by Gary Nash, he argues that the reason for the American Revolution was not
caused by the defense of constitutional rights and liberties, but that of material conditions of life in
America were not very favorable and that social and economic factors should be considered as the
driving factor that pushed many colonists to revolt. The popular ideology which can be defined as
resonating most strongly within the middle and lower strata of society and went far beyond
constitutional rights to a discussion of the proper distribution of wealth and power in the social system
had a dynamic role in the decisions of many people to revolt. The masses ideas were not of
constitutional rights, but the equal distribution of wealth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the wealthy increased their assets in the cities, at the same time, a large class was impoverished
city dwellers. A huge contrast between the wealthy and the poor were forming and becoming more
apparent from the beginning of the eighteenth century in the colonies. The data that was collected on
the people who were submitted into poor houses clearly with little doubt that the third quarter of the
eighteenth century was an era of severe economic and social dislocation in the cities, and that by the
end of the colonial period a large number of urban dwellers were without property, without
opportunity, and except for public aid, without the means of obtaining the necessities. This evidence of
poverty in the colonies is one that Nash tries to point out to support his argument that there was a
sharp contrast in the distribution of wealth, and that the masses were at this time more focused on the
economy s downfall of the period than defending for constitutional rights and liberties. Protest sparked
as the result of the enormous poverty in the colonies. Frustrated with their living conditions the middle
and lower classes protested violently in the cities. During this time of frustration with the economic
conditions, rank had no privileges, as even the lieutenant governor was shot in Massachusetts. The
wealthy were attacked

Summary Of The Paranoid Style In American Politics
The Prevalence of Political Paranoia
In the controversial essay, which was first published in the November 1964 issue of Harper s
Magazine, The Paranoid Style in American Politics, Richard Hofstadter argues how the prevalence of
paranoia in American politics has dominated the country. Hofstadter asserts American politics have
been governed by paranoia since the creation of the United States, and it has manifested itself into the
minds of both average and intellectuals Americans. He contends that paranoia has played a pivotal
role in American politics by fostering fear in citizens regarding issues such as gender, ethnicity, race,
and religion and proclaims the reason fear is heightened in citizens has more to do with the style in
which panic is spread than any other factor. Furthermore, the author claims the sole issue dictating
American politics is not simply paranoia, but rather a problem internationally caused, primarily,
through misconceptions and false imaginations. Hofstadter also explores the affiliation paranoia has to
power, to corruption, and to the government. Additionally, he examines the reasoning behind many
skeptics and paranoids in the country today and describes the techniques with which they spread panic
and hysteria, through methods such as books, speeches, and media. The Paranoid Style in American
Politics, by Richard Hofstadter, demonstrates the critical role paranoia plays in dictating American
politics through the utilization of academic diction, anecdotal evidence, logical appeals, an
explanatory tone, and chronological organization.
Hofstadter employs a scholastic tone by incorporating academic diction into his essay, to establish
credibility when discussing paranoia and its roots in American politics. When examining paranoia,
Hofstadter argues that it establishes a greater affinity for bad causes than good (Hofstadter 77).
Through this phrase, and the language Hofstadter applies, it can be concluded that the intended
audience for this piece is intellectuals. The author s diction and tone identify Hofstadter s belief of
paranoia doing little to spark progressive change in America, but rather hindering the development of
policies and activities which would combat real problems.

  • 2. Similarities Between Coaching And Feedback Feedback versus Coaching: Same or Different? There are similarities between feedback and coaching, and in fact feedback is a part of coaching. Feedback on its own may seem to be a much shorter process of giving comments or advice about something that has or has not happened, and usually ends by someone making suggestions or asking how it could be done better. Coaching adds to feedback by providing a process for change, adding support for commitment to action. How to Provide Feedback Effectively Giving and receiving feedback has long been considered to be an essential skill for managers and leaders. Employees need to know how they are doing as they strive to achieve their organisation s goals. They need to know how they are doing, whether the performance is up to standard, and if not, how they can improve. When improvement is needed, The S/TAR concept provides an effective method for providing feedback about the behaviour or results observed. The approach should also include suggestions or prompts towards how to handle the situation in the future. For example, let s say you observed an employee refusing a request from another department. You could use the STAR concept to provide feedback on what you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, many employees cite informal, forced ranking as their major source of frustration with their organisation s performance management system. Personal judgment in Peter Shaffer s Equus and Albert Camus The Stranger, though internal in the first and external in the latter, mirrors society s judgment of those who differ from the norm. The two postmodernist authors both use judgment as a tool to promote the postmodern idea that society oppresses and criticizes people who are not like everyone else. Camus and Shaffer place specific motifs and elements into their novels in order to push the idea of societal judgment on the reader. However, while the ideas may be the same, Camus and Shaffer use them contrastingly. Shaffer tends to use judgment of the self while Camus leans towards judgment of others, but the judgment ultimately leads back to people who do not conform to the norm. ... The combination of the setting of a trial, the inspection of Meursault, and the anonymity of the jurors leads to an unmistakable sense of external evaluation and consequently societal judgment in The Stranger. Camus and Shaffer use these physical elements in their works in order to permeate both texts with a sense of societal criticism. Shaffer and Camus pass judgment on Dysart and Meursault through their lack and removal of passion. In Equus, Dysart specifically mentions the lack of passion in himself. When speaking to Hesther, Dysart criticizes himself for his fake love for the wild and primitive. He states, I settled for being pallid and provincial, out of my own eternal timidity (2.25). This statement, just a small part of the entire rant against himself, is opposed by Hesther. Dysart, as a psychiatrist, tries to remove emotion and individuality from his patients, specifically Alan. Unlike Hesther, who sees psychiatry as removing pain, Dysart judges himself for becoming a person who removes uniqueness. Alan contains too much emotion to ever be considered normal and as the play continues Dysart becomes more and more opposed to fixing him. Dysart s specific speeches about how he hates himself for becoming impassionate and removing the passion in his patients contrast with society s normal views. These rants, because they are in ... Pete Rose was a player that I looked up to when I was a young boy playing baseball. I was a big fan of his collecting all of his baseball cards from rookie year up to the present time. Now, most of the baseball critics and others do not want Pete Rose inducted. They claim that his illegal betting on baseball games should keep him out of the Hall of Fame. Almost all of the highly questionable evidence that Commissioner Bart Giamatti held was derived from former friends and associates of Rose. Up to $30,000 per day , so some of Roses close friends say. These former friends of Rose are Tommy Gioiosa, Donald Stenger, Mike Fry, and Paul Janszen. This evidence is what prompted the banishment from baseball of Pete Rose, which he signed. The evidence was enough for the Commissioner. In 1989, baseball s Commissioner Bart Giammati suspended Pete Rose from association with professional baseball for life for gambling. Rose also spent five months in a minimum security prison for tax evasion in 1990. He did not report cash money he accepted for signing baseballs and photographs at baseball card shows. It is still to this day not proven that Rose did bet on the baseball team that he was managing. Rose himself still holds true to his statement that he never bet on the game of baseball. I wanted to investigate whether instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) was more effective at reducing hamstring muscle tightness than foam rolling in high school athletes. Most high school athletes work very hard at practice and in the weight room and therefore, hamstring muscle tightness is very common. I chose the high school population because I want to work in the high school setting following graduation. I wanted to investigate if IASTM techniques could be more effective in the high school to reduce lower extremity muscle soreness than foam rolling. The case series by Baker, Nasypany, Seegmiller Baker (2013) investigated the effectiveness of IASTM for treatment of hamstring tissue extensibility dysfunction. Tissue extensibility dysfunction (TED) includes ROM limitations during standing flexion test, sit and reach test, passive and active straight leg hip flexion and 90/90 active knee extension test (Baker et.all). The participants in this study consisted of three collegiate athletes who can had long lasting tightness in the lower extremities, and exhibited hamstring TED. Confucius spent many years trying to promoting his ideas to rulers in different states but was not able to get through4. To understand why such a visionary philosopher could not get others to agree with him, we will have to look at the nature of the Confucian theory and why was it incapable of persuading the lords of countries. Firstly, Confucianism prized the rule of men over the rule of law; that is to promote harmony in the people over the interest of a ruler. If a ruler has appropriate personal conduct the government will be effective without needing to issue order. However, the ruler do not have the correct conducts, his orders will not be obeyed. Secondly, Confucius viewed rules and laws as harmful. He argued that people led by laws and punishments will try to avoid punishment but lose the sense of shame. If they are led by virtue and guided by propriety, they will preserve their sense of shame and become good citizens5. He saw a country as an extended family and a ruler should take care of his citizens like a father would take care of his children. The ruler as the father would need to set a proper example for the right ethics to flow down5. Thirdly, the Confucianism school did not value institutions in inducing desirable ... • 23. The Effectiveness Of A Connection The Effectiveness of a Connection in Relation to a Tragedy As art becomes more prevalent, intricate, and sophisticated in culture so does its impact on a viewer. A viewer must experience a work of art and connect to it in order for it to be considered effective. Ajax by Sophocles can be considered a work of art because of its ability to connect to an audience. Sophocles play follows a warrior named Ajax who was threatening to kill Odysseus to obtain the armor he believed was rightfully his, which causes the goddess Athena to cast a curse leaving him blind with rage and in a state where he slaughters hordes of animals believing that they are his enemies. Ajax later becomes distraught to the point of suicide. Bryan Doerries produced a version of Ajax to relate to veterans through his company, Theater of War. This company s specific purpose is to de stigmatize psychological injury, increase awareness of post deployment psychological health issues, disseminate information regarding available resources, and foster greater family community, and troop resilience through the performance of Ancient Greek plays to military and civilian communities (Outside the Wire). Because of this purpose, the audience is able to form an intense connection with Ajax and fulfill the purpose of art. While looking at Aristotle s Theory of Tragedy and the six most important features of a tragedy, it becomes apparent that connection through all six features is the only way to create effective art. ... • 26. Power In A Tale Of Two Cities Power is the Silent Assassin Charles Dickens, a prosperous author by the age of twenty five, was born in Portsmouth, England, on February 7, 1812. A Tale of Two Cities, written by Charles Dickens in 1859, is considered to be one of the darkest of the major books that he wrote. The novel is considered dark because its takes place in England and France before and throughout the French Revolution. The French Revolution was a ten year revolt of the peasants against the nobles that resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of people. In Dickens A Tale of Two Cities, imagery is used to change the reader s attitude about the French Revolution by the characters use of revenge through the state of the peasants, the cruelty of the French nobility, ... The peasants have changed the laws since the French Revolution started, which is very hypocritical considering one of the reasons for the war was to fight for justice against the nobles unjust court system, and now they are doing the exact same thing to the nobles, even the innocent ones, for revenge. An officer immediately jails Charles Darnay, an honorable man, into solitary confinement in a prison named La Force because he is accused of being an emigrant. When the officer asserts, Without doubt. You are consigned, Evremonde, to the prison of La Force (195), Darnay exclaims, Under what law, and for what offence? showing the unexpectedness of his imprisonment. In this novel, emigrants are nobles who have fled from their homes, and though Darnay denounced his family name years before, he belongs to the Evremonde family, and therefore, must die. During the French Revolution, the peasants commonly made vulgar jokes about the Guillotine, which was a new weapon used to behead its victims. They laughed about the weapon and how they killed many people with it, saying, it was the best cure for headache (212). After the third time, I went downstairs and peeked through the small hole on the door. There was a man in a gray suit and a package resting on the ground. I opened the door and felt that I had a wild look. He did not even look up and he handed me the clipboard. He muttered about being late to his next route. I took the package from him and he finally looked up at me. When he saw me, he stared at me for quite a while. It was very awkward. I handed him the clipboard and he continued to stare at me. It was getting very creepy. I closed the door and went to my room. I looked through the bedroom to find him walking down the narrow path lined with flowers. He greeted a person wearing a fedora and a long tan coat. I caught the person s face when he looked up at the window. My heart missed a beat as I thought about him seeing me. I thought he could see, but realized that he could not. My heart was beating faster than before. The mysterious person went to the left and the deliveryman went to the right. I closed the blinds and opened the package. I was excited when I saw the teal notebook that I have been trying to look for. It is teal and made out of leather. It is an expensive notebook. Gary Nash Essay In the essay written by Gary Nash, he argues that the reason for the American Revolution was not caused by the defense of constitutional rights and liberties, but that of material conditions of life in America were not very favorable and that social and economic factors should be considered as the driving factor that pushed many colonists to revolt. The popular ideology which can be defined as resonating most strongly within the middle and lower strata of society and went far beyond constitutional rights to a discussion of the proper distribution of wealth and power in the social system had a dynamic role in the decisions of many people to revolt. The masses ideas were not of constitutional rights, but the equal distribution of wealth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the wealthy increased their assets in the cities, at the same time, a large class was impoverished city dwellers. A huge contrast between the wealthy and the poor were forming and becoming more apparent from the beginning of the eighteenth century in the colonies. The data that was collected on the people who were submitted into poor houses clearly with little doubt that the third quarter of the eighteenth century was an era of severe economic and social dislocation in the cities, and that by the end of the colonial period a large number of urban dwellers were without property, without opportunity, and except for public aid, without the means of obtaining the necessities. This evidence of poverty in the colonies is one that Nash tries to point out to support his argument that there was a sharp contrast in the distribution of wealth, and that the masses were at this time more focused on the economy s downfall of the period than defending for constitutional rights and liberties. • 46. Summary Of The Paranoid Style In American Politics The Prevalence of Political Paranoia In the controversial essay, which was first published in the November 1964 issue of Harper s Magazine, The Paranoid Style in American Politics, Richard Hofstadter argues how the prevalence of paranoia in American politics has dominated the country. Hofstadter asserts American politics have been governed by paranoia since the creation of the United States, and it has manifested itself into the minds of both average and intellectuals Americans. He contends that paranoia has played a pivotal role in American politics by fostering fear in citizens regarding issues such as gender, ethnicity, race, and religion and proclaims the reason fear is heightened in citizens has more to do with the style in which panic is spread than any other factor. Furthermore, the author claims the sole issue dictating American politics is not simply paranoia, but rather a problem internationally caused, primarily, through misconceptions and false imaginations. Hofstadter also explores the affiliation paranoia has to power, to corruption, and to the government. Additionally, he examines the reasoning behind many skeptics and paranoids in the country today and describes the techniques with which they spread panic and hysteria, through methods such as books, speeches, and media. The Paranoid Style in American Politics, by Richard Hofstadter, demonstrates the critical role paranoia plays in dictating American politics through the utilization of academic diction, anecdotal evidence, logical appeals, an explanatory tone, and chronological organization. Hofstadter employs a scholastic tone by incorporating academic diction into his essay, to establish credibility when discussing paranoia and its roots in American politics. When examining paranoia, Hofstadter argues that it establishes a greater affinity for bad causes than good (Hofstadter 77). Through this phrase, and the language Hofstadter applies, it can be concluded that the intended audience for this piece is intellectuals. The author s diction and tone identify Hofstadter s belief of paranoia doing little to spark progressive change in America, but rather hindering the development of policies and activities which would combat real problems. ...
