Susceptibility-weighted imaging (SWI) is an advanced MRI technique that enhances the detection of blood products and provides high-resolution images sensitive to variations in magnetic susceptibility within the brain. It is particularly effective in identifying small hemorrhages associated with traumatic brain injuries, coagulopathy, and vascular malformations, which are not visible using conventional imaging methods. Recent advancements have refined SWI for broader clinical applications in various neurological disorders in both adults and children.
