looking like for you these days?
#Movies4MentalHealth

Moments of mindfulness <3
It hasnt't to be honest
Having a refreshing sleep
Keeping a routine
being in Nature, kayaking,
birding
Taking a break from school
work.
meditating, praying,
spending the day alone
treating myself
Music, creativity, spending
some time alone to get to
know myself and be
mindful!
bath
trying to control my stress,
and finish the semester

We dont talk about it. Its not a
thing.
Outspoken
Often seen as taboo, attention
seeking, dishonest in my family of
origin! Trying to be the first in my
family to change this!
In the black community mental
health is usually silenced, we dont
talk about mental health let alone
emotions themselves
How have you experienced the concept of "mental
health" within your own cultural communities?
Some people just don't
understand that sometimes
"being in bed" is normal for you at
that time and moment. And when
they make a big deal about it
makes you feel worse
its very misunderstood and not
acknowledged. There are right
ways to deal with it and wrong
ways according to my family

What makes it difficult to reach out
for help?
#Movies4MentalHealth
Pride
Feeling embarrassed
No one wants to hear you,
your annoying
self worth
Fear of being
misunderstood or judged
not feeling understood
no point
Expectations
what will people think?
not trusting
Expectation
Worries of being rejected
fear of being institutionalizaed
not having the right person on the
other end to listen
what if it's us doing something wrong
bad experiences in t he past
not knowing where to reach out

What did you think?
How did you feel?
#Movies4MentalHealth
Sad
relatable, in a sense
angry
made me kind of upset
This gave me chills. Beautifully done
and shows the direct consequences of
domestic abuse
I feel like every one has their own
mask that we need to remove to grow
i was just with my 6 year old nephew,
made me sad
You do what you see. That's why
parenting "right" is so important
irritated
empathy
I was also gonna say relatable
It was very powerful
violent is unnecessairy
I felt very sad for the child
How the cycle continues. Dad saw
the same propally
How the cycle continues. Dad saw
the same propally
"the cycle gets recycled"

What are some practices that help
support your wellness?
#Movies4MentalHealth
Taking time fir yourself.
Reach out for help when needed
Isolate, to collect composure
self-awareness and self-check ins
Yoga, time for reflection
Being able to communicate in a
leveled expressive manner
trying something new, buying
something for a hobby, walking and
chilling out with friends.
Meditating and talking to a therapist.
Knowing when to take a step back.
"get some air"
breathing and cooling off so you dont
react on immediate emotions
spontaneity
mindfullness
social support
making a list of what you're grateful
for

How did you feel?
#Movies4MentalHealth
one day you sit and wonder where the light
you had as a child went
Depression is a real medical condition
You can say that again
totally agree with violet
right. like what and why used to be my top
questions
I felt inspired by "just because the candle is
out doesn't mean it cant be relight." I need
to put that on all my notebooks and frame
it for my wall.
abandoned- looking for somewhere to turn
it trys to confine you, but doesn't define
you.
Felt in my chest and limbs. "Stuck in
an abusive relationship with
yourself." "Hold onto the small
glimmers." "Hold onto life." Very
powerful and incredibly well done.
very relatable
relatable
i feel like this every morning
chilly and yet hopeful
Yes, agreed with susan, heart hurts.
sme relateable
Fell like this most days
mental illness does not define you
I laugh to hide

How can we support ourselves and others?
#Movies4MentalHealth
Listen
Be present with the ones you care
about. You don't always have to give
advice, sometimes it's enough just to
listen.
Open your heart to listen and be
open to other people's truths.
actively listen to yourself and others,
dont hold your feelings in because it
only hurts you more
We listen to others and ask them
about them
listening to ourselves and knowing
our limits and strengths and listening
to others- the verbal and non verbal
body language
Be kind to yourself so you can be well
enough to be empathetic for others
check on your friends and family even
the ones with the biggest smiles are
hiding pain
be okay with not being okay is one of
the most important things you can do.
Less pressure on yourself
if mental illness and mental wellness
are on a continuum, and recognize
that both ebb and flow, the gold of our
life experience is the way in which we
validate our feelings, and turn it into
something beautiful. All these videos
have much hope because in the
difficulties, and the moments of
validating powerful poetry and grand
hope was created.
