- 2. Notes Creating notes of the important points while reading is a strategy that I can implement. With this strategy, I will be able to review information easily, and have a history of the vital information that I learned in a particular course or book.
- 3. Mind Mapping By using mind mapping tools, I can create a visual of the information that I am learning and comprehending. I can even add some images if needed to make the learnings more “relevant” to my learning style with the ability to remember the information.
- 4. Highlighting By highlighting the most important points as I read through my text, it gives me the opportunity to comprehend the information quicker, easier, study for tests and exams, and it also gives the black and white ink a more visual effect and interest.
- 6. Cognitive Learning Style: Visual Visual Learners are able to learn better through visual aids like images, presentations and are more likely to read instructions before trying or using something for the first time. They are able to put text to their learnings once they are able to see the visual representation.
- 7. Cognitive Learning Style: Auditory Auditory Learners use their listening skills to obtain information and learn. They are more likely to comprehend instructions better when they are spoken.
- 8. Cognitive Learning Style: Kinesthetic Kinesthetic Learners are more “touchy-feely” kind of learners and use their sense of touch to gain knowledge. When their lessons involve some type of physical activity, they comprehend information better.
- 9. My Personal Results Cognitive Learning Styles Now add up how many A’s, B’s and C’s you selected. A’s = 18 B’s = 8 C’s = 4 Brain Dominance You responded as a right brained person to undefined questions, and you responded as a left brained person to undefined questions. According to the Hemispheric Dominance test, you use the left side or your brain the most. Some of the traits associated with the left side of the brain are listed in the table. Not all of the traits will apply to you. Remember, we use both sides of our brain, but your left side gets the most exercise. Multiple Intelligences Musical=4.71, Self = 4.57, Social = 4.57, Spatial = 3.86, Language = 3.71, Body Movement = 3.43, Logic/Math = 3.29, Nature = 1.86
- 10. My Thoughts Personally, I have always felt like I learned better with visuals and through hands-on activities. On the Multiple Intelligences activity, I scored higher in the musical intelligence, which is understandable because I love music and once a rhythm or jingle is in my head, it’s there for a considerable timeframe. After taking these assessments, I am going to try implementing the auditory learning style as well as the kinesthetic learning style more to see if they will help with my comprehension of information. I think that certain learning styles may work better for certain subjects and situations.
