This document discusses Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences which identifies seven types of learners: visual-spatial, bodily-kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, linguistic, and logical-mathematical. It provides descriptions of each type of learner's strengths and preferences for receiving and processing information. The document also contains questions prompting self-reflection on one's own preferred learning style, environment, and time management strategies.

Learning preferences : How learners learn better?
Learning preferences are all about how your learners study and learn in better ways that reflect their interests and likes. Learners learn in different ways and have a style or a preference to help them acquire new skills , knowledge and remember things.
Some teachers prefer the concept preference to learning styles so as not to classify a learner and impose a particular learning style. What suits one learner might not suit another? For example, if a group of people are learning videos, some like listening and dramatization the teacher acts. Others want to stand up and move performing the movements at the same time as watching the teacher perform them.
Talking about the best learners learn respecting their preferences and needs is like someone in real life situation where he or she may buy a laptop or smart TV , do you get straight in and start using it, do you read the instructions first, or do you call or ask for competent person to show you what to do (or do you use the internet to watch a video on YouTube)?
That is a real life example of someone’s learning style or preference for learning.
Teachers first primary concern is how to make things easier for their learners and audience – The may opt for a particular methodology that they see it suit them or for a specific diversity while delivering their content, but this might not suit their learners.
For example, if teachers prefer to listening to a lecture they certainly feel more comfortable lecturing their learners.
That’s why teachers have to find out what their learners’ preferences are, then they can adapt the delivery content that to suits them.
There are so many different ways of ascertaining preferences, some systems might contradict others or even be misunderstood. Some people are in favour of them, whereas others aren't. The current thinking is that there is no valid research to justify their use. However, you need to make your own decision on whether using the results of learning styles' tests for differentiation will work for your learners. You will also need to check whether the organisation you work for advocates their use or not.
Most people don't fit into one style or preference, I recommend using a variety of teaching and learning approaches to help learning to take place. Your learners might instinctively know what works best for them rather than having it determined for them. For example, they might prefer practical activities rather than reading or writing. This might have been developed from previous courses they have attended. Rather than this being their learning preference, you could think of it as their teaching preference. You could ask your learners which teaching preference they prefer and then adapt your sessions accordingly.
You probably know if it’s hard for your learners to learn by listening,
But if they get their bodied up and moving around, things click instantly.
Or maybe they love listening to audiobooks,
But nothing seems to make sense to them when they sit down to read a paper book.
What you are describing when you talk about your learners in this way is their learning style.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

3. Visual-Spatial Learner:
Think and store information in picture form rather than words
Can analyze the big picture of a concept but can often times miss the small
details
Any auditory instruction should have a visual component included to catch
the student's eye.
Often encouraged to write out their work to visually memorize
Creativity is a major key to enhancing their learning lifestyle
4. Bodily- Kinesthetic Learner:
Using one's whole body or just parts to solve problems
Such learners work skillfully with objects that enhance their attention to
detail and activate their fine motor skills
These types of learners need an activity to focus their concentration and
energy
Possess the ability to create and invent objects with their hands
5. Musical Learner
Thrive in an environment where they can hear relationships and patterns
between different chants, rhymes and sounds around them.
Musical learners learn best with a song or a chant that accompanies the
work material
Letting them read out loud allows them to hear patterns in the structure of
many words
Avoid a quiet working environment, musical learners need to be stimulated
by music and sound
6. Interpersonal Learner:
This type of intelligence refers to a person's ability to interact with and
understand others in social situations.
Learn best when they are allowed to use their intricate people senses as
part of their learning process
Prefer group projects and are often times stimulated by dialogue and large
community presentations
7. Intrapersonal Learning:
Intrapersonal learners prefer looking inward and figuring out personal
feelings, motivations and goals that affect/enhance their learning
Often times they seek understanding and clarity in their work material
Typically introverted and learn best independently
Work best when in a quiet and comfortable environment and excel in
projects that are of an interest to them personally.
8. Linguistic Learner:
The linguistic learning style refers to a person's ability to reason, solve
problems, and learn using verbal communication/language.
Learn best when taught using spoken or written materials.
Prefer activities that are based on language reasoning rather than abstract
visual information. For example linguistic learners would much rather
thrive completing math word problems than math equations
9. Logical/Mathematical Learner:
This learning style refers to a person's ability to reason, solve problems, and
learn using numbers and relationships
Logical learners are typically methodical and think in logical or linear order
Learn best when using visual materials, computers, statistical programs,
and hands-on projects.
They prefer structured, goal-oriented activities that are based on math
reasoning
10. List strategies one can use to adapt to various learning situations.
Spend some time before going into these situations to find out what learning type suits you
best so you know your specific working needs
If a specific learning situation does not suit you then bring your own materials and activities that
can enhance your personal learning experience
Identify which of Gardner’s multiple intelligences best applies to you.
Give reasons to support your opinion.
I believe that I am a visual-spatial learner according to Gardner’s multiple intelligences. I am very
creative and learn concepts best when I have a diagram that accompanies the work material. I
often write out class notes so that I can see them and repeat them over in my brain.
Identify whether you are left-brain or right-brain dominant. Give
reasons to support your opinion.
I believe that I am neither rights side dominant or left side dominant, rather I share
characteristics from both sides of the brain. I love being spontaneous and impulsive due to
11. Describe your preferred learning environment.
My preferred learning environment consists of a clear open and quiet space.
Identify at least two factors that motivate you to learn.
1. Deadlines
2. Personal excellence
Identify at least two factors that hinder your learning.
1. Electronics
2. Making plans with friends to go out
Describe the relationship between continual personal change and
growth in the thinking and learning process.
Continually changing through life experiences and your studies is directly proportional to one’s
learning process. Throughout life one can discover what habits they exceed in, what habits
they need to eliminate and what tools help them enhance their talents and skills. Personal
12. Explain why having good time management skills is important for
learning and achieving goals, in general.
Having good time management in achieving one’s goals and the learning process is critical. Without
it one can easily lose track of their learning, they lose momentum or worse, give up. So, it is
extremely important to work in sections to stay motivated and productive.
