Students Activity
Students are praying
Good afternoon, Sir!
We are fine. Thanks for asking.
We have no absence for today.
Students are explaining their output.
Our topic at the last meeting is about
Republic Act 9003. Ecological Solid
Waste Management Act of 2000.
To begin with, we are going to play a
game called, “4 Pics 1 Word”. I will show
you a set of pictures and below these
images are disorganized letters which
you will arrange in order to form a word
that represent each pictures.
Presentation
Our topic for today is all about the
“Structure of the Atmosphere”. We will
explore the hidden world of the
atmosphere.
WEATHER VS. CLIMATE
A T M O S P H E R E
T E M P E R A T U R E
The difference between weather and
climate is a measure of time.
Weather is what conditions of the
atmosphere are over a short period
of time, and climate is how the
atmosphere "behaves" over relatively
long periods of time.
Weather -It refers to short-term
atmospheric conditions.
Climate - It is the weather of the specific
region averaged over a long period of
time.
As for the introduction, I have here a
short video clip regarding the Structure of
the Atmosphere.
View and take down important facts and
information for I will ask questions later.
Discussion
What is atmosphere?
- Composition of Atmosphere
An atmosphere is the layers of gases
surrounding a planet or other
celestial body. Earth’s atmosphere is
composed of about 78% nitrogen,
21% oxygen, and one percent other
gases.
The Earth's atmosphere is mostly
composed of a mixture of gases
with very tiny quantities of aerosols,
which are solid or liquid particles
suspended in the air. You should
understand that most of the gases in
the atmosphere are nitrogen and
oxygen. These will be referred to as
the major components of the
atmosphere. You should also realize
that more than half of Earth's
atmosphere is composed of nitrogen
(roughly 78%) with comparatively
less oxygen (about 21% of the
atmosphere). The remaining gases
in Earth's atmosphere are called
trace gases because these gases
make up a very small percentage of
the total. By far the most abundant
of these trace gases is argon (close
to 1% of the total).
Excellent!
The Earth’s atmosphere is divided into
five layers.
1. Troposphere
2. Stratosphere
3. Mesosphere
4. Thermosphere
5. Exosphere
That is right!
Troposphere - The troposphere is
between 5 and 9 miles (8 and 14
kilometers) thick depending on
where you are on Earth. It’s thinnest
at the North and South Pole. This
layer has the air we breathe and the
clouds in the sky.
Stratosphere - The stratosphere is a
layer of Earth’s atmosphere.
The stratosphere is located above
the troposphere and below the
mesosphere.
Mesosphere - The mesosphere lies
between the thermosphere and the
stratosphere. “Meso” means middle,
and this is the highest layer of the
atmosphere in which the gases are
all mixed up rather than being
layered by their mass.
Thermosphere -
The thermosphere lies between the
exosphere and the mesosphere.
“Thermo” means heat, and the
temperature in this layer can reach
up to 4,500 degrees Fahrenheit.
Exosphere - The outermost layer.
The exosphere is the outermost
layer of our atmosphere.“Exo”
means outside and is the same
prefix used to describe insects like
grasshoppers that have a hard shell
or “exoskeleton” on the outside of
their body.
Application
We have an activity. Label the five layers
of the atmosphere and identify the things
commonly found in each layer.
Act #2. Negative Effect of Human
Activities in our atmosphere.
Generalization
Five Layers of the Atmosphere
- Imagine our planet without the
atmosphere, what Do you think will
happen?
-How can you help to protect our
atmosphere?
Evaluation
Direction: Choose the letter of the correct
The depletion of atmosphere
would not only be fatal to humans
but also to most of the plants and
animals out on the planet.
We can take public transportation,
ride a bike, or walk whenever
possible.

How are you today? Excellent. 3. Checking of Attendance Who is absent for today? Great! 4. Checking of Assignment May I have your assignments? Pass it forward quietly. All papers in? Assignment: Find a thing that can be seen at your house and recycle it. Be creative and craft ideas will do. 5. Review of Past Lesson Who among you can still recall the lesson that was discussed last time? Thank you for being attentive, Noel! Motivation Students Activity Students are praying Good afternoon, Sir! We are fine. Thanks for asking. We have no absence for today. Students are explaining their output. Our topic at the last meeting is about Republic Act 9003. Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.
  • 3. To begin with, we are going to play a game called, “4 Pics 1 Word”. I will show you a set of pictures and below these images are disorganized letters which you will arrange in order to form a word that represent each pictures. Presentation Our topic for today is all about the “Structure of the Atmosphere”. We will explore the hidden world of the atmosphere. WEATHER VS. CLIMATE A T M O S P H E R E T E M P E R A T U R E The difference between weather and climate is a measure of time. Weather is what conditions of the atmosphere are over a short period of time, and climate is how the atmosphere "behaves" over relatively long periods of time.
  • 4. Weather -It refers to short-term atmospheric conditions. Climate - It is the weather of the specific region averaged over a long period of time. As for the introduction, I have here a short video clip regarding the Structure of the Atmosphere. View and take down important facts and information for I will ask questions later. Discussion What is atmosphere? - Composition of Atmosphere An atmosphere is the layers of gases surrounding a planet or other celestial body. Earth’s atmosphere is composed of about 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, and one percent other gases. The Earth's atmosphere is mostly composed of a mixture of gases with very tiny quantities of aerosols, which are solid or liquid particles suspended in the air. You should understand that most of the gases in the atmosphere are nitrogen and oxygen. These will be referred to as the major components of the atmosphere. You should also realize that more than half of Earth's atmosphere is composed of nitrogen (roughly 78%) with comparatively less oxygen (about 21% of the atmosphere). The remaining gases in Earth's atmosphere are called trace gases because these gases make up a very small percentage of the total. By far the most abundant of these trace gases is argon (close to 1% of the total).
  • 5. Excellent! The Earth’s atmosphere is divided into five layers. 1. Troposphere 2. Stratosphere 3. Mesosphere 4. Thermosphere 5. Exosphere That is right! Troposphere - The troposphere is between 5 and 9 miles (8 and 14 kilometers) thick depending on where you are on Earth. It’s thinnest at the North and South Pole. This layer has the air we breathe and the clouds in the sky. Stratosphere - The stratosphere is a layer of Earth’s atmosphere. The stratosphere is located above the troposphere and below the mesosphere. Mesosphere - The mesosphere lies between the thermosphere and the stratosphere. “Meso” means middle, and this is the highest layer of the atmosphere in which the gases are all mixed up rather than being layered by their mass. Thermosphere - The thermosphere lies between the exosphere and the mesosphere. “Thermo” means heat, and the temperature in this layer can reach up to 4,500 degrees Fahrenheit. Exosphere - The outermost layer. The exosphere is the outermost layer of our atmosphere.“Exo” means outside and is the same prefix used to describe insects like grasshoppers that have a hard shell or “exoskeleton” on the outside of their body.
  • 6. Application We have an activity. Label the five layers of the atmosphere and identify the things commonly found in each layer. Act #2. Negative Effect of Human Activities in our atmosphere. Generalization Five Layers of the Atmosphere - Imagine our planet without the atmosphere, what Do you think will happen? -How can you help to protect our atmosphere? Evaluation Direction: Choose the letter of the correct The depletion of atmosphere would not only be fatal to humans but also to most of the plants and animals out on the planet. We can take public transportation, ride a bike, or walk whenever possible. C
