The lymphatic system helps transport fluid, waste, and immune cells throughout the body. It is made up of lymph nodes, lymph vessels, and lymph fluid which contains white blood cells and transports these throughout the body. The lymph fluid is absorbed from tissues and eventually returns to the bloodstream, passing through lymph nodes which filter the lymph and help fight infection. A poor functioning lymphatic system can lead to fluid buildup in tissues.
