An Academic Critique Of A Research Article By Karen L....
This paper is an academic critique of a research article by Karen L. Gischlar and Joanne P. Vesay
entitled: Literacy Curricula and Assessment: A Survey of Early Childhood Educators in two States.
I was attracted to this article because being an early educator myself, I know how important literacy
instructions is in the early years. It intrigued me to read about the types of curricula and assessment
used by other educators to assess young children learning. The purpose of the article was to survey
early childhood educators regarding their literacy practices and the assessments implemented in
their classroom. However, the goal was to determine to what extent preschool teachers addressed
literacy skills areas through classroom instructions. (Gischlar Vesay 2014, p. 298). The authors
believed that teachers should be using literacy curricula to teach literacy skills and get proper
training in how to monitor students progress. If such curricula are not being implemented, then
explicit instructions in early literacy instructionshould be conducted daily. This paper will provide a
critical review of the methods used, the result of the study and the authors discussion of the article.
In the article, the authors stress the importance of literacy educationin the early years. In fact, it is
noted that pre school years are critical to the development of early literacy skills that will lay the
foundation for future reading skills and help present problems from developing (Gischlar

The Pros And Cons Of Religion And Atheism
Recently, I was able to go on a religious retreat. The topic of religion and atheism came into
existence and I thought that this was a topic I would like to go into more depth about so I took
part of the argument. This question was asked: Is atheism a religion? We argued if these two
subjects are related. Some said no and some said yes. Though I am not an Atheist my response to
this question is, yes I do believe that atheismis a religionbecause it has the incorporation of gods
and afterlife in the belief. Let us begin with the Miriam Webster Dictionary defining these two
nouns for us exactly. Atheism (noun): a lack of belief or a strong disbelief in the existence of a
god or any gods ( Atheism. ). Religion (noun): the service and worship of God or the
supernatural commitment/devotion to religious faith/observance ( Religion. ). Comparing these
two words, they seem like they are complete opposites. The fact that religion means to believe in
a higher power, and atheism means the disbelief in a higher power, makes it seem impossible for
atheism to be a religion itself. However, when a person asks someone the question Are you a
Christian? , their response may be Yes, I am a Christian . On the other hand if one ask a person
Are you Christian? they can also respond with No, I am an Atheist . The two responses have the
same structures yet different meanings. Jimmy Akin (who is a catholic author and editor) said, A
belief is a religion if it asserts the existence of the

I Am Isis, Goddess Of Motherhood And Love
I am Isis, goddess of motherhood and love. I am going to tell you the story of how my loving
husband Osiris became God and Judge of the Dead and how his death was avenged. It all started
when my mother Nut the sky goddess and my father Geb the Earth god had four children including
me. I have two brothers OsirisGod of order, culture and civilization and SetGod of the darkness and
one sister Nephthys. When my father Geb retired into the heavens my brother Osiris took his
place as king and took me as his consort. My husband made Egypt flourish and taught many how
to farm, enjoy music, and created a legal code for the people to follow. With Egypt flourishing my
brother Set became envious of Osiris.
Osiris was the oldest one of us and he had the warmest soul. When he believed that Egypt was in
standing order he decided to journey off and civilize the rest of the world. In his absence, I kept
Egypt flourished and reined as queen of Egypt. Although Egypt was prospering my brother Set,
filled with darkness straight down to the bone, began planning a way to get rid of Osiris.
Although I did not know this at the time, Set went behind Osiris s back and used bribery and
cunning to gain many allies who would eventually help him get rid of Osiris. When news of my
brothers arrival spread throughout Egypt Set held a banquet and invited everyone to come. After
the festivities Set took out a marvelous chest and spoke whomever fits inside this chest becomes its
new owner . After numerous

the burger because he is influenced by the advertisement of the burger, the need becomes emotional

Because the emotional or psychological needs can be aroused through external stimulation like
advertisements, we have designed the election campaign using an effective marketing strategy and
advertising strategy with different forms of promotional mix.

The Pros And Cons Of Car Accidents
Car accidents have become a common occurrence today. According to the State Highway Patrol,
traffic deaths around Ohio have increased for the second year in a row. There were 1,057 traffic
fatalities in 2015 as compared to 1008 fatalities in 2014 and 990 fatalities in 2014. According to a
highway patrol spokesperson, approximately 60% of Ohio s fatal crashes in 2015 involved drivers
who were not wearing a seatbelt. Nearly one third of the fatal crashes involved drivers who were
impaired by alcohol or drugs.
If you were in a car accident and nobody got injured, you should count yourself lucky. It can be
an extremely traumatic experience to suffer severe injuries or to see your passengers (friends and
/or family) hurt or injured. It is also a very stressful experience if you are the one who is at fault
and you end up injuring another driver. Therefore, car accidents that do not result in any fatalities
and major injuries can be quite a blessing. Sometimes though, the vehicles are not as lucky and may
suffer significant damage. You may ask yourself in such a situation as to who will pay the cost of
repairing your car?
The legal requirement in Cleveland, Ohio is for drivers to carry a minimum insurance policy that
includes bodily injury liability and property damage liability coverage. Specifically, the required
minimum for bodily injury liability coverage is $25,000 per person injured in an accident and
$50,000 for all persons injured in an accident. The required minimum for property damage liability
coverage is $25,000 for injury to or destruction of property of others.
Ohio is a liability state. This means that if you are in an accident and you incur medical injuries
and/or property damage, the driver who is responsible for the accident will be the one who will be
held liable for any damages. In other words, it will be the negligent driver s insurance company
who will pay you for any vehicle related damages. That is precisely why the mandatory insurance
policy in Ohio requires all drivers to carry a $25,000 property damage coverage.
However, since Ohio is a liability state and any damages paid by the parties involved in an
accident is dependent on the level of their fault, you have to keep in mind that if you

Donald Trump s Reputation In Politics
Donald Trump has said many things that many would consider unwise. One of his famous quotes
was, Likewise, tremendous infectious disease is pouring across the border. The United States has
become a dumping ground for Mexico and, in fact, for many other parts of the world. 1 That is
just one example of how Trump, though he is undeniably a fantastic business man, would make a
poor president. For though he is undoubtedly one of the best, if not the best, businessmen in the
world, Donald John Trump, Sr. is simply not suited for the world of politics. The reason he is not
suited for that world is because he is commonly seen as racist, lacks common sense, and is
completely uneducated in politics.
The first point that is in need of being addressed, is that Mr. Trump has the reputation to be a racist
person. While there is normally some bias as to whether or not a person s comments are racist,
Trump has taken away any benefit of the doubt that he had when he made this comment:
This was evident just this week when, as an example, a young woman in San Francisco was
viciously killed by a five time deported Mexican with a long criminal record, who was forced back
into the United States because they didn t want him in Mexico. This is merely one of thousands ...

That was a fact that was blatantly evident if some of his speeches about border control. Trump
has spoken of border control very poorly, with his thoughts on the matter seeming to be racist.
However Trump may feel personally about the border, what he has to realize is that now he is not
only speaking on the behalf of himself, he is speaking on the behalf of a country. A country that has
maintained very good relations with the Mexican government, and would be unwise to suddenly
break off those relations because Donald Trump cannot stop saying things that are slanderous
towards the Mexican government, such as the following quote from one of Trump s

Feminist Perspective On Criminology
The following essay will seek to present an insightful discourse on the made contributions by
feminist s perspective in the grounds of criminology. It will exemplify how the perspective has
been enhanced our understanding on women as victims and perpetrators of crime. It will also
critically analyze the impact it has. I will attempt to discuss different branches of criminologysuch
as, biological, social, psychological, liberal and radical feminism.
Feminism is a controversial issue and topic. The late 1960 into the early 1970s witnessed the
emergence of feminist criminology; it has been attributed to the second wave of feminism the
helped to project issues affecting women in regards to crime in the public domain (Lawteacher.net,
2018). There are different types of theoretical perspectives of feminism e.g. liberal, radical,
Marxist, Socialist and Black. The issues regarding women and crime were mainly discussed
from proportionate views from men. Highly critical of traditional criminology as there is a lack
of research into female offending as well as victimization, which was particularly male violence
against women. It also focuses upon male offending and criminal justice system. Lombroso and
Ferrero were two of the first criminologists to look at female criminals. Both their research was
mainly focused on the biological assessment of facial appearances. Lombroso argued that females
commit less crime as they are less developed than males in masculinity. He believed that

Purpose: To study the long term development of speech sounds in children with cochlear implants
and to determine if there was a time at which this development reaches a point of little or no change.
Methods: Spontaneous speech samples were collected from twenty seven children who had been
using a cochlear implant for at least 8 years and had at least two speech samples available from
previous evaluations. The samples were glossed for intended words and the first 100 words were
transcribed phonetically.
Results: There was a consistent increase in accuracy of speech sound production from implantation
to 4 6 years post implantation in contrast to the relative plateau seen 6 10 years postimplantation.
Clinical Implications: At 4 years post implantation, a good prognosis can be formed about speech
sound production later in life. It is vital that a child s development of speech sounds is facilitated
during the first 6 years post implantation.

The Reflection Of The Fight For Social Justice
Social justice centers upon the standards of fairness, equality, admiration of diversity, and the
distribution of rights that cover all people. Social justice infers that all people must have equal
rights and opportunities, no matter their ethnicity, religion, or social/economic status. During the
1800s, people from all walks of life had to deal with some type of social injustice. Whether that be
discrimination against a particular race, slavery, or inequality. Although many social injustices have
diminished over time, it is disappointing to say, that the world is still suffers from injustices such as
poverty, inequality, etc. To achieve social justice
, I believe we the people must inquire about what
injustice is active and how it is affecting our community. With that being said, we need to educate
those who are not aware of the injustices that we are still suffering from both locally and globally.
Also as individuals, we can show love to those of other ethnicities, religions, cultures and other
backgrounds that may differ from our own. We as a nation must come together and partake in the
fight for social justice. To start, in order to gain social justice, we must first educate ourselves on
the injustice so we may be able to accurately inform others on the issue. The community cannot
make a positive impact unless we are knowledgeable of the problem. The best way to achieve this
goal is by conducting research, observance of our community and knowing the stats of

Queen Mary Stuart Of Scotland And Queen Elizabeth I Of...
In the renaissance period of history, there was a feud that came about that dominated Europe.
Cousins, Queen Mary Stuart of Scotland and Queen Elizabeth I of England, formed an unpleasant
relationship that ended with execution. The scandalous rivalry between Mary, Queen of Scots and
Queen Elizabeth I had a profound effect on the politics of their time. Queen Elizabeth I was much
more regal than her cousin, MaryStuart of Scotland, and ruled her kingdom with poise and
sophistication. When Elizabeth came into power, she had to rebuild the ruins that her half sister,
Mary I, had left of England. The job proved to be difficult, but Elizabeth was successful and she

Queen Elizabeth spent great amounts to build up the weak and unprepared English navy so the
soldiers could fight (Smith). Family members heavily influenced the decisions and actions in
which either queen took as it was important to account for their family s opinion, and they used
family members to get at each other. The queens themselves were cousins as Henry VIII was
their uncle, so Mary Stuart had Tudor blood in her (Sharnette 1). After Mary came back to
Scotland, there were many conspiracies surrounding her as well as Elizabeth. Mary was
convicted for being involved in the murder of her first husband, Lord Darnley ( Was Elizabeth I
Justified in Having Her Cousin Mary Stuart, Queen of Scotland Executed? ). When Elizabeth heard
of the plan for Howard to marry the Queen of Scots she was suspicious, and summoned Howard to
appear at court. Guilty and fearing the queen s anger, Howard repeatedly claimed illness as the
reason for staying away from court (Benson). Queen Elizabeth had many valid reasons for her
decision to order the execution of her cousin Mary. Many English Catholics held Mary to be the
legitimate heir to the throne of England ( Was Elizabeth I Justified in Having Her Cousin Mary
Stuart, Queen of Scotland Executed? ). Mary was accused of murdering her second husband and
was imprisoned before escaping to England, where she thought her cousin Elizabeth would help her
to gain back the Scottish throne. Instead, Elizabeth had

Should Colleges Be Free
Should colleges be free for everyone to earn up to an AA degree? Some people believe that college
is expensive and college should be free. On the contrary, others believe that the higher education is
worth the money. Most people believe that college should be free because not all people can pay
the price to go to college. Even though some people believe that everyone can pay for college.
The truth is that colleges should be free for all to earn up to an AA degree because there could
be more chances for people to get jobs and a better future. On the condition that most jobs require

Much Ado About Nothing Humanism
The film Much Ado About Nothing, based on Shakespeare s play of the same name, includes many
characteristics of the Renaissance. One characteristic of the Renaissance is that it deals with logic,
reason, and rationality and is based on humanism. The Renaissance focused on worldly aspects and
the individual. The film shows this as it does not deal with supernatural or fantastical aspects and
rather focuses on every day, natural, and normal activities and struggles that humans experience
such as marriages and lovelives. Another aspect shown in the film is proportion. The buildings,
gardens, and architecture are all made according to specific proportions so that they look perfect
and ideal. Many characters in the playalso look perfect and ideal.

Minor firms now market cell phone games as well as video content aimed specifically to be
watched on cell phones. Additionally, other creative functions have arisen, such as text messaging,

Regardless of the widespread recognition of the cell phones video technology, consumers are

Military Family Vs Military Families
In the Norfolk, Virginia area there is an astronomical number of military families who live within
city limits and are accompanied by the non military families. Having the privilege of experiencing
both lifestyles over the years of my life, it brings with gratitude, and encouragement to distinguish
the many similarities and differences each lifestyle represents. Every military spouseknows the
lifestyle is immensely different than Civilian families and how relentless at times it might be,
while the civilian families in turn may not realize what it s like behind the curtains. There are
many similarities us military wives and families and civilian wives and families go through, but
there are significantly more differences and sacrifices us military spouses go through than civilian
wives could even imagine.
Military families face the repercussion of forced relocation, all while normal American families
have the sole decision where in fact they would locate their families. In the negative realm, these

and are families are forced to choose schools in undesirable locations that could have everlasting

Cell Membrane Permeability
Only uncharged, small, polar molecules, (such as water) and hydrophobic molecules, (such as
oxygen, carbon dioxide) and lipid soluble molecules (such as hydrocarbons) can freely pass across
the membrane. All ions and large polar molecules (such as glucose) are not permeable to the
membrane.
Membrane structure
The plasma membrane maintains dynamic homeostasis by separating the internal metabolic events
of the cell from its external environment and controlling the movement of materials into and out of
the cell. The membrane is a double phospholipid membrane, also referred to as a phospholipid
bilayer, and has polar hydrophilic ( water loving ) phosphate heads around the outside and non polar
hydrophobic ( water fearing ) fatty acid tails on the inside of the membrane. Slight variations in
these structure of the fatty acids in the membrane alter the fluidity of the membrane. Phospholipids
with saturated fatty acid pack more tightly, because of the nature of their single carbon bonds. This
leads to a more rigid membrane. Unsaturated fatty acids, which have double carbon bonds, limit
packing and result in a more flexible membrane. Cholesterol molecules distributed throughout the
phospholipid bilayer provide some stability to the plasma membranes of animal cells. At higher
temperatures the cholesterol molecules allow the membrane to be firmer, at lower temperatures
they allow for flexibility.

General Anxiety Disorder
General anxiety disorder (GAD) is a prevalent, debilitating disorder recognized by the DSM 5.
Some of the symptoms that are associated with GAD are restlessness/ feeling keyed up, being
easily fatigues, difficulty concentrating/ having a blank mind, irritability, muscle tension, and
disturbed sleep. Excessive anxiety, the most common mental health problem experienced in
average youth, causes individual distress and functional impairment throughout children s lives
(Gross Hen, 2004). Anxiety is also a mental status that is elicited in anticipation of threat of some
kind. Sensations of anxiety are a normal part of human experiences, but excessive or inappropriate
anxiety can become an illness. High levels of anxiety can be accompanied by a set of behavioral
and physiological responses including avoidance, vigilance and arousal from a stimuli or stimulus.
Children and adolescence of both genders usually experience anxiety symptoms at different levels
of intensity that frequently afflicts their everyday life. Anxiety has been treated with drug therapy,
cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), relaxation training and even systematic desensitization. To
diagnose general anxiety disorder, one would look for many presenting symptoms, characteristics,
and treatments.
The DSM 5 has been changed many times in the past, dating back to 18th century. During the 18th
century, anxiety was mostly perceived as physical symptoms that produced anxiety profiles as a
result of underlying

Why Notetaking Is Important Research Paper
Throughout your whole life you will learn that notetaking is a skill that you will use close to
everyday of your life. When notetaking it doesn t have to just be writing down information with
pen and paper. You could simply just make a mental note in your head of something that is
important and needs to be remembered. In college, every student will not be able to listen to
every word being said by the professor, even if you have good memory. When notetaking during a
lecture it s important to take down the key information and the concepts that you will need to
remember. If the professor likes to talk for an hour straight there is no way you can remember all
of that the next day. Notetaking is the best way to cover the lecture effectively.

Country Lovers vs. The Gold Cadillac Essay
Country Lovers vs. The Gold Cadillac
====================================
Both of the two stories, Country Lovers and The Gold Cadillac reveal racism. It is not a
particularly hidden message. But the two of them approach it from slightly different angles.
Country Lovers shows that the story is based around racism in the first paragraph: [the black
children are] beginning to call their old playmates missus and baasie
little master . Within the Gold Cadillac, the racism is a little better concealed. We don t know
that the main family are black for sure, until line 166, after Wilbert (the father) has said he is
going to go down to Mississippi and Mr. Pondexter say Not much those folks hate more n to see a
northern Negro ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another possible reason is that it may show other black people, that if they too work hard, they can
achieve something great, The American Dream.
In Country Lovers, it is obviously about racism from line 10 onwards.
We are constantly finding out how the white peoplehave a far better life than the black people: in
education, belongings, housing, and general life. For example, while Thebedi and Njabulo live in a
hut
Njabulo had built in white man s style, with a tin chimney, and a proper window with glass panes
set in straight as walls made of unfired bricks would allow , the farmer and his son lived in a house
thick walled, dark against the heat.
It is interesting to note that Njabulo has attempted to copy the white man s house, but doesn t
have the resources available. The way we are told, it seems that having a proper window is
something he is very proud of. However the white man has big thick walls on his house, which

The Power Of The Populist Party
The Populist Party formed when the Kansas Farmers Alliance joined with Knights of Labor to
form a People s Party. Populists wanted the people to have more power to end poverty and
injustices. In 1892, the Populist Program was initiated where populists desired public ownership of
the railroad and telegraph systems, protection of land and natural resources, federal income tax on
highest incomes, and a looser monetary policy to favor borrowers. Populists also wanted to stop the
governments laissez faire attitude. In addition, they aimed for a secret ballot and direct election.
Supporters of the Populist Party were made up of farmers, labor groups, prohibitionist and women s
suffrage advocates.
Progressivism came after the Populist movement.

My Day On A Summer Day
It was around 7 in the morning on a summer day in July. When my mother awakened me with
extreme excitement in her voice. Get up were leaving in 2 hours, pack warm clothes and
everything you need to look fantastic. Trying to comprehend what she was saying to me i rolled
out of bed and trudged to the bathroom. The thought of what could possibly be going on kept
circling my mind as i was getting dressed. Finally when i had put my clothes on, packing was
now the task of my morning and i didnt have alot of time left. I threw all my nicest clothes and
shoes in my rather large bright red suit case and hoped it would all fit as i grunted and squealed
trying to stuff them all inside i finally zipped it shut. With now an hour and a half left I wanted
some answers to all of my questions. MOM! will you please tell me where we are going? I said.
Its a surprise I ll tell you when we get to the airport. With a smile on her face. I couldnt help but
think it was somewhere extravagent. In my mind pictures of crystal clear waters and sugar white
sand filled my imagination. The Carribean? Dominican Republic? France? Anywhere outside of
the country would be absolutley breath taking... well anywhere outside of the mid west atleast.
Snapping out of my day dream Chayce, my youngest brother at the time asked me to put his shoes
on. I hated putting on his shoes it was like cutting a tree with scissors. Push Chayce! i yelled I am!
You re hurting me! he replied. After a while of

Income Inequality
Income inequality Name Date Abstract In any given population, there is a difference between what
people within the population earn. The uneven distribution of income in any given population is
income inequality. In order for there to be income, there has to be several sources of income.
These sources of income may be combinational or independent per person receiving the income.
Income may result from wages, rent, bank account interests, salaries or even profits made in
business transactions ( Stiglitz, 2012). In his hypothesis, Karl Marx foresaw income inequality in a
capitalistic as a major problem that would lead to an economic evolution. The main reason he
foresaw an evolution was due to the recurrent nature of income... Show more content on

Classification of what causes inequality lies in two different classes in a broader sense, which are;
individual causes, or external conditions leading to income inequality ( Rousseau, 1992). In simpler
wording, the causes of inequality lie within endogenous causes and exogenous conditions.
Endogenous causes of income inequality Endogenous causes are those causes that are unique and
attached to an individual s characteristic. These characteristics lie in the ability of an individual to
produce more than other individuals hence earning more than other individuals in the same market.
These characteristics include better qualifications in carrying out a given job or other uncommon
attributes that make the individual more valuable in the market place. The most common
individualistic abilities sought after in the market include intelligence, charisma, personality and
physical agility. An example of an individualistic attribute in use is intelligence, in the modern
market, IQ tests used in measuring a person s intelligence directly reflects on the earning capability
of that person. A person with a very high intelligence quotient is likely to end up making more
money in the job market as opposed to a person with a poor intelligence quotient. Another
endogenous cause for income inequality is individualistic

Resistance Of A Solute From Concentration
Introduction
Cells must move materials throughout membranes and cytoplasm in order to keep on maintaining
homeostasis. This movement is regulated through cellular membranes, which are selectively
permeable. Membranes have phospholipid bilayers, containing embedded proteins. The
phospholipid fatty acids hinder the flow of H2O because of its hydrophobic behavior.
The cellular environment is aqueous, meaning that the solutes dissolve in water (solvent). Water
may cross voluntarily through the membrane by osmosis. Most ions move through protein channels,
while transport proteins import larger molecules like carbohydrates.
The simplest form of movement is diffusion, where solutes move from an area of high concentration
to low concentration. Diffusion is directly related to molecular kinetic energy, taking in no energy
input. The movement of a solute from an area of low concentration to high concentration requires
energy input (ATP).
The process by which water moves through membranes by a special kind of diffusion is called
osmosis. Like solutes, water moves down its concentration gradient. Water moves from areas of
high potential to low potential. The high potential contains low solute concentrations, while the low
potential contains high solute concentrations. In surrounded cells, osmosis is affected not only by
the solute concentration, but also by the defiance to water flow by the cell wall, known as turgor
pressure.
The terms hypertonic, hypotonic, and isotonic are used

The Wife of Bath s Reflexive Contradiction for Sexual Equality in the Canterbury Tales The Wife
of Bath has been described and depicted as an independent proto feminist who long ago led the
charge for sexual equality. Chaucer s visionary protagonist was a refreshing and modern look at
women s rights in the fifteenth century. She spends much of her prologue breaking down
stereotypical barriers that have confined women of her time to passive and subservient roles in
her society. As a result, her prologue, if standing alone, can be noted as one of the great calls for
female independence in historical literature. But upon viewing her works as a whole, her section of
the General Prologue, her prologue and her tale, it is well noted that... Show more content on

the while opposing the Wife s former views that a women s value lies less in her appearance and

simply desperate or confused is undetermined, but she gives in to the knight s lack of supposedly

Naomi Shihab Nye s Work
Words cannot describe how much I needed Naomi Shihab Nye s work in my life. Just as she
said in her short story, which also happens to be one of my favorite works of hers, My Boyfriend,
John Mayer , I noticed with some interest how a person who is down seems much improved
when faced with someone who is more down than they are. It s all a matter of degrees (Nye,
175). It has been so long since a poem, or a set of poems, has resonated so deeply within my
person. Of course from time to time I come across one that will make me reminisce or truly think
deeper than what is due the next class period, but in the blaring monotony of an unsatisfying
daily routine shoved me low enough I hadn t stopped for a moment to see others who were even
farther down than I was. In an attempt to find who we are and what we want to do in life, I feel
like we often abandon who we are at the given moment in attempt to capture whatever farfetched
idea pops into our head or on our Facebook timeline that inspires us for a brief moment that we need
more. More what? Entertainment? Adventure?
In all reality we don t need anything. If we take a moment to stop, look around us and take it all
in, we are blessed beyond measure. I am blessed enough to have the opportunity to stress about

Essay about Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire
Life in the early 1900 s wasn t easy. Competition for jobs was at an all time high, especially in
New York City. Immigrants were flooding in and needed to find work fast, even if that meant in
the hot, overcrowded conditions of garment factories. Conditions were horrid and disaster was
inevitable, and disaster did strike in March, 1911. The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory in New York
set on fire, killing 146 workers. This is an important event in US history because it helped
accomplish the tasks unions and strikes had tried to accomplish years earlier, It improved working
conditions in factories nationwide and set new safety laws and regulations so that nothing as
catastrophic would happen again. The workplace struggles became public after... Show more

Wages were very low for the amount of work people were expected to do. People would only
make anywhere from $1.25 $1.50 for the entire 10 12 hour workday. Not only were these wages
extremely low, but employees often lived in expensive company housing which left barely any
money for the other necessities of life. Nobody was satisfied with the wages during this time
period but another struggle was the long hours. People worked 60 80 hour work weeks in the
hot overcrowded factories, only doing one monotonous job. Lastly, the boss was very distant
from the work crowd and there was little to no contact between the two groups. Also, the
workers were very controlled by the foreman. The doors were locked on all floors to prevent
theft during the day and bathroom breaks would be monitored by a floor manager. Overall,
during the late 1800 s everyone was overworked and underpaid and this led to many troubles as
years went on. Everyone was frustrated with work conditions and this led to the formations of
unions around the country. The Knights of Labor was a very popular union that led the first
major strike in the United States. The year was 1885 and Jay Gould s Missouri Pacific Railroad
was the target. The owner, Jay Gould, had recently cut wages drastically and fired union members.

Olaudah Equiano And Thomas Jefferson
Plenty of early American authors used religious content or ideas for political purposes. These
authors wanted to change the political world around them through publishing works with religious
content. Two of these writers were Olaudah Equiano and Thomas Jefferson. Equiano and Jefferson
crafted letters and stories that shaped then political climate during early American times that
eventually helped to build a great nation. In the biography of Thomas Jeffersonit states that he
wished to be remembered for only three things; drafting the Declaration of Independence, writing
and supporting the Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom (1786), and founding the University of
Virginia. Fortunate for him that is what he remembered for to this day. As for Olaudah Equiano
, he
has caused a great deal of debate as to where he grew up. There has been evidence to support him
growing up in the Carolinas and there has also been evidence to support him coming from
Africa. One thing is certain that he has produced high quality written material that is read to this
day. Thomas Jefferson, born 1743 in Virginia, was a self made man. He had many activities, such
as law, and politics in addition to running a 5,000 acre plantation that he inherited from his father.
Jefferson graduated from William and Mary College, and was a talented lawyer. Jefferson was an

It is not a suitable model for the data that beyond its specific range of domain. Usually, the valid
range of domain of a linear equation is quite narrow when it is applied to practical problem.
Finally, linear models are typically based on a set of assumptions such as the requirement of
simplification of the data. They are not really suitable models for those data with complex context.
4.2 A more appropriate model
In the case of ChocoMint bar, the hyperbolic model might be more appropriate.
Figure4.2 hyperbolic relationship between monthly demand for ChocoMint and relative prices
y = 836.78x 0.854 RВІ = 0.8488 R = 0.9213
4.3 Justification of the hyperbolic model s higher suitability
Firstly, compared with the linear model, the value of correlation R of this hyperbolic model is closer
to 1. Thus, it indicates that the hyperbolic model represents the relationship between the price and
monthly demand much better.
Secondly, in the linear model, it shows that when the price decreases to 0 (which means the
ChocoMint bar is free), there is a limited demand for ChocoMint bar. However, the demand for
free goods are usually infinite in practice, which is exactly demonstrated by the hyperbolic model.
As the hyperbolic graph above indicates, when the price is approaching zero, the graph does not
intercept the y axis. On the contrast, it is infinitely close to y axis with increasing values of
monthly demand, which

Carbonated Soft Drink Industry For Management 400
This is a case analysis of the carbonated soft drink industry for Management 400. First, to set our
boundaries of the industry, I will set the boundaries of the carbonated soft drink industry. The
carbonated soft drink industries are companies that are in the production of soda products, sports
drinks, and energy drinks. The production and distribution of carbonated soda drinks can be
broken down into four separate sections: concentrate producers, bottlers, retail channels, and
suppliers. The first section is the producers of concentrate syrups. These are companies like Coca
Cola, Pepsi, and Dr. Pepper who specialize in creating the concentrates. The second groups are the
bottlers of soda products. The bottlers, buy concentrate from companies like Coca Cola, then add
carbonated waterand other sweeteners, and then bottle the product for delivery to retailers. The
third sections are retail channels. Retail channels are supermarkets, fountain outlets, gas stations
and other stores where soda is sold to end consumers. The suppliers to the industry make up the last
of the major players in the carbonated soft drinkindustry. The suppliers in the industry supply both
the concentrate producers and also the bottling. The soda production industry has a fairly
concentrated market with two major companies accounting for 70% of the market share. The Coca
Cola Company is by far the leading company in the industry with over 40% share of the market. Its
closest competitor is the PepsiCo

CHAPTER 1
BANK CAPITAL MANAGEMENT CAPITAL ADEQUACY FRAMEWORK
INTRODUCTION
Bank capital is often defined in tiers or categories that include shareholders equity, retained
earnings, reserves, hybrid capital instruments, and subordinated term debt. Capital ratios are
commonly measured as a percent of bank assets or risk weighted bank assets.
Bank capital serves as an important cushion against unexpected losses. It creates a strong ... Show

Banks list their capital adequacy ratios in their financial reports. The CAR is important to
shareholders because it is an important measure of the financial soundness of a bank.
Two types of capital are measured with the CAR. The first, tier 1 capital, can absorb a reasonable
amount of loss without forcing the bank to cease its trading. The second type, tier 2 capital, can
sustain loss in the event of liquidation. Tier 2 capital provides less protection to its depositors.
Because of the nature of risk under which banks operate, capital regulations require banks to
maintain a minimum level of equity per loans and other assets. This required minimum is designed
for protection, allowing banks to sustain unanticipated losses. The minimum is also designed to
offer depositors confidence in the security of their deposits given the asymmetric information.
An individual depositor cannot know if a bank has taken risks beyond what it can absorb.
Thus, depositors receive a level of assurance from shareholders equity, along with regulations, audits
and credit ratings.
The amount of equity a bank receives from shareholders sets the limit on the value of deposits it
can attract. This also limits the extent to which the bank can lend money. If a bank sustains large
losses through credit or trading, eroding the bank s net worth, this causes a decreased fund base
through which a bank can offer loans.
The CAR provides

The second Ku Klux Klan and often regarded as the most influential and successful Klan was
founded in 1915 by William J. Simmons, who was an ex minister and a promoter of fraternal

program than the previous one, for it added even more to white supremacy . The Klan added an
intense nativism and anti Catholicism closely related to that of the Know Nothing movement of the
middle 19th century. Consequently it s appeal was not sectional, and, with the help soon after 1920
by the activities of professional promoters such as Elizabeth Tyler and Edward Y. Clarke, the Klan

when a vital Klan leader by the name of David C. Stephenson, was convicted of second degree

decreased to an estimated thirty thousand. Its collapse afterwards was largely attributed to rules that

Essay on Narrative Therapy
Abstract
This paper will look at the logic of narrative therapy by focusing on 5 major points. This paper
will begin by discussing how the narrative approach defines and perceives problems. It will
address how narrative therapy views the nature of the relationship between the client and the
professional. This paper will look at how problems are solved using the narrative approach. It will
also focus on three main techniques used in narrative therapy, which will include externalization,
deconstruction and re authoring. This paper will also include a short narrative critique of the

According to Kelley (1996) this process is recommended by narrative therapists because it allows
the client to begin to see where the discourse emerged from. The therapist must first just listen to
the story and determine what the client sees as the existing problem (Kelley, 1996). Then the
therapist begins to ask questions with the intention of bringing forth the full meaning of the
problem (Kelley, 1996). In deconstruction the therapist searches for answers as to who all is
involved with the problem, what past events lead up to the problem development, how the problem
changed over time, how the client has been fighting the problem thus far and how the problem is
affecting the client s life (Kelley, 1996).
Kelley (1996) reported that after the therapist has a full understanding of the problem the
deconstruction phase moves on to its second stage. The therapist and the client begin working
together to break down the prevailing story in order to map the influence the problem is having
on the client s life (Kelley, 1996). Mapping the effect of the problem is particularly important
because it lays the foundation of the new story line (Monk, Winslade, Crocket Epston, 1997).
According to Monk, Winslade, Crocket Epston (1997) typically when the effect of the problem is
discussed with the client they begin to feel as if their story has been heard. They

Ginseng Environmental Problems
Environmental Problems linked to ginseng production in Ontario:
However, although consumption of ginseng has a lot of health benefits, but growing ginseng comes
up with a lot of environmental problems in Ontario.
Ginseng plants can only be harvested after 3 5 years of maturation and it also has to be under
specific conditions such as rich sandy soils, moisture, shades and appropriate temperature to
produce high quality ginseng roots (Antonacci, 2014). . Also, growing ginseng plants requires a
lot of land, because after ginseng roots are harvested from a land, a particular fungus will
develop in to the soil and so that land cannot grow any other forms of ginseng plants (Hoag,
2015). This means ginseng farmers have to frequently seek out for new land available to grow and
harvest other forms of ginseng plants to produce a variety of ginseng products. The exploitation of
lands for ginseng production will not stop as the demand for ginseng products are increasing and it
will cause greater damage to the environment.
When ginseng plants are made into products, only the root will be used, as other parts of the plant
have no nutritional and medical value (Liu, 2017). This means other parts of the plant is useless
and will be disposed as waste, contributing to environmental damages.
Also, because of the high demand for ginseng, people were picking wild ginseng in forests (in
Southern Ontario) causing ginseng becoming an endangered species having a very low
reproduction rate

Powerful Women In The Odyssey
Power is a curious concept that most people have or understand. When women experience power
and strength it is incredible and unique. In The Odyssey by Homer, there are a lot of powerful,
strong women. Women in this poem are tough, strong willed and are treated with the respect and
seriousness they deserve. (Bartleby 1). In this quote, it is talking about how women were treated
well, but in reality women were treated like wasted space. As Homer writes about women, they
seemed to be smarter than the men. The women know what to do, how to do it, and most
importantly listen to what other people say. When Hermes tells Calypso to let Odysseus go, she

Penelope has more power than she thinks and it s not just her wit. She has power over her

Why College Housing Is Great And Not So Great
As we know housing is very important to our universities around the world today and to our very
own Old Dominion University . Of course, it s important to us first year college students as well as
upperclassmen but not as much, because we feel that it s time to move out. But there are many
more reasons why collegehousing is great and not so great. Living in on campus housing has it s
perks but, here is the trick we are paying a fortune for it. And we share one room with two others
and spacing is not equivalent. Housing rates are extremely high because we are paying for the
things that we use. For example the water, lights, electricity, and custodial staff.
What we should do about it is make this known to the Office of Housing ... Show more content on

Of course they are already going to be in deep debt when it is all over. On the other hand,
lowering the rates would make a big difference when it comes to paying for housing.
The University would and could somewhat make more money in a way. They could benefit
because if the prices were more affordable more students would pay. Housing is apart tuition when
of all it is combined. Using the tuition calculator allows you to see an estimate of how much
attendance would be.(http://blue.odu.edu/admissions/calculator/) Include on campus housing and
watch it rise to even more. In fact there it shows that it is a big price gap with living on campus
and, that the prices should be lowered in some way.
Out of state students pay for coming into a different state to attend college as we know. It is not
at all cheap they actually pay double of what a in state student pays. They already are paying
double and of course out of all students they need housing. Because whichever state they came
from it is miles away and traveling would be ridiculous. They would need to benefit from the
prices of housing to be low as possible. The cost of their tuition would drop tremendously if the
prices was low. This is one major requirement to have housing as a out of state student. First and
foremost if the prices were affordable even more out of state students would attend Old Dominion
because, the price of tuition including

Liquid Permeability of Porous Media
1.0Summary This experiment is conducted to determine the liquid permeability of porous
media. The apparatus used in the experiment is the liquid permeameter. The liquid used in this
experiment is water. Three membrane samples of different thickness (0.1, 0.2, 0.3 cm) are used
as the porous media. The determination of the permeability is carried out using elevated
pressure test. Each sample is tested for 5 times at different values of pressure gradient which are
5, 10, 15, 20 and 30 psi. In order to obtain more accurate data, ensure that the membrane samples
to be test is fixed tightly and covers the o ring of the sample chamber completely. Values of
volumetric flow rates are obtained from the apparatus itself. For pressure gradient of 5... Show more

The change in pressure that occurs during the flow is ∆P and the volumetric flow rate (q) is
the amount of fluid that can flow through the medium over a period of time with respect to the
∆P. Permeability (k) is related to all the components by the Darcy s equation. Darcy s
equation: q=kA∆PµL ..... (1) The SI unit for permeability, k is m2. Permeability is also
measured in Darcy, D. 1 D is approximately 10 12m2. Factors affecting permeability are
membrane solubility, pressure, concentration and temperature of the molecules or solutes.
Permeability is also affected by size of the molecules of the fluids that passing through the
medium. Darcy s equation is valid for any Newtonian fluids and is only applicable for laminar
flow. The laminar flow is always achieved by groundwater but not always achieved by gas flows.
Laminar flow can be determined by computing the Reynolds number of the flow. Re= ПЃvDВµ 5.0

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Leverage...
Banks typically need equity and need to make debts to fund loans and other operations. A bank s
indebtedness is primarily composed by deposits, borrowings owed to other banks, and bonds
released by the bank itself in the capital market. On the other hand a bank s equity is determined by
subtracting the amount of a banks liabilities from the amount of its assets; for a bank, equity
largely coincides with capital. Regulation of bank capital is necessary in modern economy because
without it a bank could potentially hold very modest capital and in case of losses become insolvent
and unable to repay its creditors, including savers and deposit holders. Capital serves as a cushion
that should allow banks to withstand even substantial losses without... Show more content on

The rule merely imposes a minimum proportion of assets (or a maximum proportion of debt) to
equity, but those assets are not supposed to meet any specific requirements, especially in regard
to their riskiness, so a bank s capital, in a system which uses the leverage ratio alone, could
potentially consist solely of very high risk assets. This can lead to a shift of the entire banking
system towards riskier and riskier operations, due to the fact that, because the gearing ratio
imposes an higher level of capital than that, that will be hold without regulation, and this is
undesirable from the perspective of a bank, since it reduces its total amount of resources that can
be invested for profit, a bank would be naturally induced to invest its remaining resources in high
risk assets which usually promise an higher return of profit compared to low risk assets. Such
results would be obviously counterproductive, considering that the intention of assuring a shelter
from insolvency would be completely defeated in the case that the high risk assets would prove to
be worth less than expected. In extreme scenarios the situation could be worse than the absence of
regulation, if the existence of rules imposing leverage ratios were to induce a general sense among
the public of soundness of the banking system, that may prove to be misplaced in the case that the
solvency of the banks is

Essay about The Shinto vs. Genesis Creation Story
And God said let there be light, and there was light... according to the Genesis story, an entity
which bears no tangible face or bodily structure created the world with nothing more than a swift
tongue. It bore the shape of the earth, the plentiful bounty of the soil, the beauty of animals, and
the wonder known as humanity all within the time span of seven days. It created the notion of
societal law, moral principle, and a reverence for a deity by loyal subjects. And it instituted a
harsh rule of law which instigated the idea that if any part of you, mind or body, were to disobey
it, you would be punished in the now and in the after. Nonetheless, the Christian telling of how our

God commands the earth to bring forth grass, plants and fruit bearing trees...
These are the first three days of creation in Genesis, and formulate the basic framework of the
earth as we have come to know it. God, as the benevolent and mighty being he is, draws the
together out of nothing, defying the idea of physics and laws which bind us to the constraints of
the natural world. He created the sea, land, animals, and plants without asking if such a thing
was possible, or what would something like this even look like. As he declared the world to be
illuminated, to be bountiful, to provide nutrients to plants, to divide things between sky and land,
land and ocean, we notice that all of this based on spoken word. Again, the key thing to realize is
that God, in no way shape or form is conducting this orchestra of creation through tangible means.
All of which adds to the awe of God, that an entity so great and vast in power and knowledge,
body unknown to humanity and the Bible, could create something as complex and benevolent as
the world in the time span that he did. Nevertheless, as the verses continue and the days witness
the world ever shifting in design, we notice a change in direction, especially in regards to the
events during the fourth and fifth day. After God separates land from sea, creates the sky (or

Why is income inequality an important issue for the Chinese society and its future economic

Introduction
Nowadays, China has become the second largest economy in the world. The GDP (gross
domestic product) of china was growing at 9.7% per year in average since 1978, which the year of
Chinese open door politic founded. China also has become the biggest producer and consumer in
many key agricultural and industrial markets and the largest FDI recipient among the developing
countries. The performance of china in developing of economy is called china s economic miracle ,

The Gini coefficients of rural populations increased about 75% and the urban increased about 113%
in these 30 years. Moreover, the aggregate Gini coefficient for China reached 0.4 by 2000, which
imply the serious income inequality of China in general.
At the same time, the class formation is also getting serious from these 30 years. The income
ratios of top 10% urban households was 3 times to the bottom 10% in 1985, but it s turn to about 9
in 2007, which showed in figure 5.
Figure 5 Income ratios of top/bottom 10% urban households, 1985 2007
Although the income inequality is very serious in china, some economists based on Kuznets s
Inverted U Curve Hypothesis , still argue that is good for Chinese economy. The income inequality
is the reasonable products of industrialization. They believe that China is in the initial stage of
industrialization, so the income inequality is positive to Chinese economy like proving cheap
labour force. However, they ignored many serious damage of income inequality to Chinese society
and future economic growth.
The damage of income inequality
The rising urban rural income inequality made a deeper and deeper gap between urban areas and
rural areas. In China, with the rapid development of urban

The Characteristics Of Basketball Athletes In The NBA
All great basketball players have skills, and a reason that makes them great. When people think
of professional basketball players, the first word that usually comes to mind is tall. However, that
is not always the case. There are many players that are under 6 3 and while that may sound tall to
us, it is short in the world of basketball. Surprisingly, some of the shorter players are known to be
better on the court. And they re not just known for their height... many are known for the name
brands they represent. Nike, Under Armour, Adidas, and Jordan are just a few of the brands that
are promoted by these players. All great basketball players, NBA or not, are tall. Both current
and past players all have a common trait of being tall. Lebron James 6 8 , Kevin Durant 6 10 ,
Jimmy Butler 6 6 . All of these players have height, and the skills that come with it. Being tall in
the NBA doesn t guarantee you are the best players, but it does give you a significant advantage.
Lebron and Kevin both have championship rings and a numerous amount of MVP s (Most
Valuable Player). These awards show what having height and the skills that come with it This
can give a huge disadvantage to the rest of the smaller guards and forwards in the NBA. Both
Kevin and Lebron developed the skills of being big men, and once it was perfected, they
developed the insane art or shooting. These two players can shoot from anywhere, that s what
makes them so dominant and un guardable. Their size only adds to the fact that smaller players
can t contest them or use their bodies against them. All great players like these have height and
the skills that come with it. All great basketball players can be short . Guards, these are the
faster, quicker, and I think more lethal players in basketball. All guards have a similar trait of
being short or shorter than most players. These short guards like Steph Curry 6 3, Damian
Lillard 6 3, and Isiah Thomas 5 9, obviously don t have the height to compete, but they do have
an insane mind set and have all of the skills to be better than anyone else. These skills are passing,
shooting, and dribbling. Guards are the most lethal players in all of the basketball leagues in my
opinion. Stats

The Inequality Of Rural Women
There s women in these countries that don t even know when their next meal is, or when they
will be able to drink a glass of water. It s tragic to mention that juvenilization of poverty coincides
with feminization of poverty because mothers are always expected to nurture and raise the kids,
as it is explained in the theory of functionalism. A 1992 UN report discovered the number of rural
women living in poverty in the developing countries has increased by almost 50% over the past 20
years to an awesome 565 million. (IPeterson)This quote exemplifies the deterioration of rural
women s identity that is imposed due to impact of colonial powers. However, it s ironic how these
countries are developing but still undergo a mass incline in the poverty rate amongst women, leads
to question what their development plans to digress. With the establishment of agreements of
international free trade policies, corporations used this motive as a way to generate profit from
cheap labor in underdeveloped countries. Colonization of small rural counties is solely sought out
to benefit the wealthy of the population and exploits the majority of the poor natives. Some
condescending examples include the deterioration of indigenous culture and identity, physical harm
to the rebellious natives, and exploitation of the resources that continue to destroy the lives of
women. After Spanish colonial powers withdrew from Peru during independence in the early 19th
century, rapid shifts swept across

Virtual Meeting Platform Plays A Crucial Role
As technology is advancing, more tools have emerged in the workplaces to increase the
productivity and efficiency of the corporate. Large corporate nowadays has unemployed larger
ratio of human capital to decrease cost and most importantly, increase the efficiency because of
automation of technology. Arguments on regard to this has been going on and off constantly and
people all have a common question in mind, if the efficiency really means what it supposed to be?
Of all the technologies we are utilized currently, virtual meeting platform plays a crucial role. The
use of virtual meeting platform has significantly shorten the time employees spend on client s site,
decreased travel expenseand enable the employee to discuss with client at the convenience of their
home or office. However, bottom lines are not proving to increase significantly as expected due to
lack of personal contact (trust) value, learning value and group synergy gain value.
Review/Analysis of the Case According to Eilif Trondsen, He mentioned The trend toward a
virtual workplace is driven by growing numbers of workers spending too much time in the field,
interacting with customers, business partners, and collaborators and spending less time in
traditional office . Due to the costly time and expense on traveling to customer s site, most
corporates are not hesitated to switching to virtual meeting. Employer now can hire less people
since they can do the web training and conference online while saving time

Drum Brake Steps
ere are four things you need to know about fixing drum brakes that are different from fixing disc
brakes. If you already know how to repair disc brakes, this information will help you make the
transition to working on drum brakes a little easier.
#1 You Will Need A Few Special Tools
In addition to the typical tools that you use while working on your vehicle, you will also need
three specific tools that are designed to make working on drum brakes an easier and safer process.
Brake Adjusting Tool: This tool is designed to allow you to properly adjust the rear shoe on your
drum brakes. The adjustment process on drum brakes is especially sensitive. If you don t adjust
the brakes just right, you will have to push your brake in extremely far to ... Show more content on

Specifically, you need to make sure that you keep the brake friction surfaces clean. If any
contaminates get on the friction material, you may end up needing to completely replace the
friction material if the contaminates cannot be removed.
If you get oil or grease on the drum friction surface, try first to wipe it off with a rag dipped in
brake parts cleaner. If any contaminates are stuck on the friction surface, you may be able to
remove them with some fine sandpaper and a soft cloth.
#4 Don t Forget To Lubricate The Backing Plates
Finally, when you install the drum brake shoes, you need to make sure that the knuckles the drum
brake shoes rest on are well lubricated. You ll wantto clean the area first with a cloth and possible
some brake parts cleaner. Then you will want to apply white lithium grease to the knuckles the
shoes rest on. This will ensure that the shoes are able to move properly when you installed them.
Working on drum brakes requires a lot of the same skills and knowledge that you used when you
worked on disc brakes. However, the type brake systems are not identical. Keep in mind the tips
above when you work on your disc brake

This white paper provides an overview of MBT. The model driven approach to software
development has not only changed the way software systems are built and maintained but also the
way they are tested. Model based testing approach is much recommended since it is aligned with
the new model driven development paradigm that favors models over code with the objective
being to reduce time to market while improving product quality. Model based testing relies on
models of a system under test and/or its environment to derive test cases for the system. ... Show

Introduction
Software testing is an important means of accessing quality of software which is an essential, but
time and resource consuming activity in the software development process. Though a lot of
advancements have been done in formal methods and verification techniques, still we need software
to be fully tested before it could be handled to the customer. Thus there are a number of testing
techniques and tools made to accomplish the task. Software testing is an important area of research
and a lot of development has been made in this field and gaining more and more importance in the
future. Test automation has been done to reduce the cost of testing. Traditionally the test
automation has been focused mainly on automating the test management and test execution.
Unfortunately, the test design often still remains a manual activity. The test design itself concerns
making the decisions on
(1) What to and what not to test
(2) How to stimulate the system and with what data values
(3) How the system should react and respond to the stimuli
The test design is therefore a separate task from test execution and is done before executing the tests
against the system. So even still today, automated tests are too often created and executed only for
regression, not really to find defects in the new functionality. Traditional, manual

Short Story Eleven By Sandra Cisneros
In this short story Eleven , Sandra Cisneros tells a story about a little girl named Rachel, who at
a young age, understands the irony of when it comes to life and aging. On her eleventh birthday,
she wished she had turned one hundred and two because she would ve had the courage and ability
to stand up for herself and the knowledge to say what she needed to say to her teacher. Instead, she
went through emotions from when she was younger causing her to seem vulnerable and weak
because she was suppose to acteleven. In the beginning of the story,
Rachel begins saying What they don t understand about birthdays and what they never tell you is
that when you re eleven, you re also ten, and nine, and eight, and seven, and six, and five, and four,

I personally can relate to Rachel in this story. I understand what it feels like to be embarrassed by
acting a certain age you are currently not but was once before. Being humiliated in front of your
peers, especially by a teacher. Doing everything in your power not to act like a three year old
because you are eleven. Yes I can relate to that feeling. I have on many occasions casted out
emotions of a younger age, due to obstaclas in life that hit me.
Rachel who had turned eleven, wished she was older because she knows she would be getting
the respect she deserved and the courage to have stood up for herself. She responded to her
teacher like a four year old child, stuttering trying to defend the fact that the sweater wasn t hers,
but nothing was coming out to her defense. The teacher insisted that she remember Rachel
wearing the sweater and placed it on her desk. At that point is when the three year old Rachel
wanted to come out and cry because she had been humiliated in front of her peers. But she fought
back tears because she was eleven, not three. She didn t want to look vulnerable and weak in front
of her peers. She thought about how she was going home to a celebration because of

European Law the Ordinary Legislative Procedure

European Law is very complex law , within EU law there is various different treaties which are in

Second Reading
The Parliament has three months from their first initial contact with the council about the
commissions proposal for legislation if they have not came to a decision whether or not to carry
on with the proposed legislation or agree with the Councils view on it .Then the council will be
deemed to adopt the act in accordance with its position Art 294(7)(a) TFEU. The Parliament can
take different approaches within the three month timeframe. The Parliament can reject the Council
s perception if they do so then the act would be considered not to have been implemented. This is
known as veto and prevents the bill becoming law. However in order for this procedure to take
place there must be a majority vote of the component members of parliament. Or they can vote an
majority vote to propose the amendments of the future legislation which the council has proposed.
In my opinion I think that it is beneficial that the parliament can chose to make the law veto as
personally the parliament members are for the citizens of the European Union therefore as they
have the power of veto then they can ensure fair and effective legislation is introduced into Europe
and not just any old law which is only really benefiting members of the Council. Although in order
to make the law veto there must be a majority which I personally

Aristotle s Types Of Friendship
According to Aristotle, one can experience three different types of friendship. The first type is a
friend who is used for utilitarian purposes. Aristotle, however, quickly dismisses this type. As an
example, Aristotle explains that one could never be friends with wine; while wine is satisfying to
the person drinking the wine, no person ever wishes wine good fortune (Aristotle, 32). In order for
a relationship between two people to be considered a friendship, one must want good things for the
person who they consider their friend and vice versa (Aristotle, 32). Aristotle continues to
describe another type of friendship, which is friendship for pleasure. According to Aristotle,
young adults are most likely to pursue pleasure related friendships, because the young are more
likely to live to please their emotions; they develop friendships and erotic relationships quickly
(Aristotle, 33). Aristotle notes that since young people make decisions based on their emotions,
they are quick to change passions, friendships, and lovers (Aristotle, 33). Although both parties
receive equal pleasure in this type of friendship, Aristotle says that it is not a complete type of
friendship because it is short lasting (Aristotle, 33). Aristotle considers only one type of friendship
to be complete, and that is friendship that is devoted to the other person s virtue. This type of
friendship, Aristotle says, is a friendship that is developed slowly and infrequently; this is the only
type of

  • 2. An Academic Critique Of A Research Article By Karen L.... This paper is an academic critique of a research article by Karen L. Gischlar and Joanne P. Vesay entitled: Literacy Curricula and Assessment: A Survey of Early Childhood Educators in two States. I was attracted to this article because being an early educator myself, I know how important literacy instructions is in the early years. It intrigued me to read about the types of curricula and assessment used by other educators to assess young children learning. The purpose of the article was to survey early childhood educators regarding their literacy practices and the assessments implemented in their classroom. However, the goal was to determine to what extent preschool teachers addressed literacy skills areas through classroom instructions. (Gischlar Vesay 2014, p. 298). The authors believed that teachers should be using literacy curricula to teach literacy skills and get proper training in how to monitor students progress. If such curricula are not being implemented, then explicit instructions in early literacy instructionshould be conducted daily. This paper will provide a critical review of the methods used, the result of the study and the authors discussion of the article. In the article, the authors stress the importance of literacy educationin the early years. In fact, it is noted that pre school years are critical to the development of early literacy skills that will lay the foundation for future reading skills and help present problems from developing (Gischlar ... • 3. The Pros And Cons Of Religion And Atheism Recently, I was able to go on a religious retreat. The topic of religion and atheism came into existence and I thought that this was a topic I would like to go into more depth about so I took part of the argument. This question was asked: Is atheism a religion? We argued if these two subjects are related. Some said no and some said yes. Though I am not an Atheist my response to this question is, yes I do believe that atheismis a religionbecause it has the incorporation of gods and afterlife in the belief. Let us begin with the Miriam Webster Dictionary defining these two nouns for us exactly. Atheism (noun): a lack of belief or a strong disbelief in the existence of a god or any gods ( Atheism. ). Religion (noun): the service and worship of God or the supernatural commitment/devotion to religious faith/observance ( Religion. ). Comparing these two words, they seem like they are complete opposites. The fact that religion means to believe in a higher power, and atheism means the disbelief in a higher power, makes it seem impossible for atheism to be a religion itself. However, when a person asks someone the question Are you a Christian? , their response may be Yes, I am a Christian . On the other hand if one ask a person Are you Christian? they can also respond with No, I am an Atheist . The two responses have the same structures yet different meanings. Jimmy Akin (who is a catholic author and editor) said, A belief is a religion if it asserts the existence of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. I Am Isis, Goddess Of Motherhood And Love I am Isis, goddess of motherhood and love. I am going to tell you the story of how my loving husband Osiris became God and Judge of the Dead and how his death was avenged. It all started when my mother Nut the sky goddess and my father Geb the Earth god had four children including me. I have two brothers OsirisGod of order, culture and civilization and SetGod of the darkness and one sister Nephthys. When my father Geb retired into the heavens my brother Osiris took his place as king and took me as his consort. My husband made Egypt flourish and taught many how to farm, enjoy music, and created a legal code for the people to follow. With Egypt flourishing my brother Set became envious of Osiris. Osiris was the oldest one of us and he had the warmest soul. When he believed that Egypt was in standing order he decided to journey off and civilize the rest of the world. In his absence, I kept Egypt flourished and reined as queen of Egypt. Although Egypt was prospering my brother Set, filled with darkness straight down to the bone, began planning a way to get rid of Osiris. Although I did not know this at the time, Set went behind Osiris s back and used bribery and cunning to gain many allies who would eventually help him get rid of Osiris. When news of my brothers arrival spread throughout Egypt Set held a banquet and invited everyone to come. After the festivities Set took out a marvelous chest and spoke whomever fits inside this chest becomes its new owner . After numerous ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Pros And Cons Of Car Accidents Car accidents have become a common occurrence today. According to the State Highway Patrol, traffic deaths around Ohio have increased for the second year in a row. There were 1,057 traffic fatalities in 2015 as compared to 1008 fatalities in 2014 and 990 fatalities in 2014. According to a highway patrol spokesperson, approximately 60% of Ohio s fatal crashes in 2015 involved drivers who were not wearing a seatbelt. Nearly one third of the fatal crashes involved drivers who were impaired by alcohol or drugs. If you were in a car accident and nobody got injured, you should count yourself lucky. It can be an extremely traumatic experience to suffer severe injuries or to see your passengers (friends and /or family) hurt or injured. It is also a very stressful experience if you are the one who is at fault and you end up injuring another driver. Therefore, car accidents that do not result in any fatalities and major injuries can be quite a blessing. Sometimes though, the vehicles are not as lucky and may suffer significant damage. You may ask yourself in such a situation as to who will pay the cost of repairing your car? The legal requirement in Cleveland, Ohio is for drivers to carry a minimum insurance policy that includes bodily injury liability and property damage liability coverage. Specifically, the required minimum for bodily injury liability coverage is $25,000 per person injured in an accident and $50,000 for all persons injured in an accident. The required minimum for property damage liability coverage is $25,000 for injury to or destruction of property of others. Ohio is a liability state. This means that if you are in an accident and you incur medical injuries and/or property damage, the driver who is responsible for the accident will be the one who will be held liable for any damages. In other words, it will be the negligent driver s insurance company who will pay you for any vehicle related damages. That is precisely why the mandatory insurance policy in Ohio requires all drivers to carry a $25,000 property damage coverage. However, since Ohio is a liability state and any damages paid by the parties involved in an accident is dependent on the level of their fault, you have to keep in mind that if you ... • 8. Donald Trump s Reputation In Politics Donald Trump has said many things that many would consider unwise. One of his famous quotes was, Likewise, tremendous infectious disease is pouring across the border. The United States has become a dumping ground for Mexico and, in fact, for many other parts of the world. 1 That is just one example of how Trump, though he is undeniably a fantastic business man, would make a poor president. For though he is undoubtedly one of the best, if not the best, businessmen in the world, Donald John Trump, Sr. is simply not suited for the world of politics. The reason he is not suited for that world is because he is commonly seen as racist, lacks common sense, and is completely uneducated in politics. The first point that is in need of being addressed, is that Mr. Trump has the reputation to be a racist person. While there is normally some bias as to whether or not a person s comments are racist, Trump has taken away any benefit of the doubt that he had when he made this comment: This was evident just this week when, as an example, a young woman in San Francisco was viciously killed by a five time deported Mexican with a long criminal record, who was forced back into the United States because they didn t want him in Mexico. • 9. Feminist Perspective On Criminology The following essay will seek to present an insightful discourse on the made contributions by feminist s perspective in the grounds of criminology. It will exemplify how the perspective has been enhanced our understanding on women as victims and perpetrators of crime. It will also critically analyze the impact it has. I will attempt to discuss different branches of criminologysuch as, biological, social, psychological, liberal and radical feminism. Feminism is a controversial issue and topic. The late 1960 into the early 1970s witnessed the emergence of feminist criminology; it has been attributed to the second wave of feminism the helped to project issues affecting women in regards to crime in the public domain (Lawteacher.net, 2018). There are different types of theoretical perspectives of feminism e.g. liberal, radical, Marxist, Socialist and Black. The issues regarding women and crime were mainly discussed from proportionate views from men. Highly critical of traditional criminology as there is a lack of research into female offending as well as victimization, which was particularly male violence against women. It also focuses upon male offending and criminal justice system. Lombroso and Ferrero were two of the first criminologists to look at female criminals. Both their research was mainly focused on the biological assessment of facial appearances. Lombroso argued that females commit less crime as they are less developed than males in masculinity. • 12. The Reflection Of The Fight For Social Justice Social justice centers upon the standards of fairness, equality, admiration of diversity, and the distribution of rights that cover all people. Social justice infers that all people must have equal rights and opportunities, no matter their ethnicity, religion, or social/economic status. During the 1800s, people from all walks of life had to deal with some type of social injustice. Whether that be discrimination against a particular race, slavery, or inequality. Although many social injustices have diminished over time, it is disappointing to say, that the world is still suffers from injustices such as poverty, inequality, etc. To achieve social justice , I believe we the people must inquire about what injustice is active and how it is affecting our community. With that being said, we need to educate those who are not aware of the injustices that we are still suffering from both locally and globally. Also as individuals, we can show love to those of other ethnicities, religions, cultures and other backgrounds that may differ from our own. We as a nation must come together and partake in the fight for social justice. To start, in order to gain social justice, we must first educate ourselves on the injustice so we may be able to accurately inform others on the issue. The community cannot make a positive impact unless we are knowledgeable of the problem. The best way to achieve this goal is by conducting research, observance of our community and knowing the stats of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cousins, Queen Mary Stuart of Scotland and Queen Elizabeth I of England, formed an unpleasant relationship that ended with execution. The scandalous rivalry between Mary, Queen of Scots and Queen Elizabeth I had a profound effect on the politics of their time. Queen Elizabeth I was much more regal than her cousin, MaryStuart of Scotland, and ruled her kingdom with poise and sophistication. Queen Elizabeth spent great amounts to build up the weak and unprepared English navy so the soldiers could fight (Smith). Family members heavily influenced the decisions and actions in which either queen took as it was important to account for their family s opinion, and they used family members to get at each other. The queens themselves were cousins as Henry VIII was their uncle, so Mary Stuart had Tudor blood in her (Sharnette 1). After Mary came back to Scotland, there were many conspiracies surrounding her as well as Elizabeth. Mary was convicted for being involved in the murder of her first husband, Lord Darnley ( Was Elizabeth I Justified in Having Her Cousin Mary Stuart, Queen of Scotland Executed? ). When Elizabeth heard of the plan for Howard to marry the Queen of Scots she was suspicious, and summoned Howard to appear at court. Guilty and fearing the queen s anger, Howard repeatedly claimed illness as the reason for staying away from court (Benson). Queen Elizabeth had many valid reasons for her decision to order the execution of her cousin Mary. Many English Catholics held Mary to be the legitimate heir to the throne of England ( Was Elizabeth I Justified in Having Her Cousin Mary Stuart, Queen of Scotland Executed? ). Mary was accused of murdering her second husband and was imprisoned before escaping to England, where she thought her cousin Elizabeth would help her to gain back the Scottish throne. Cell Membrane Permeability Only uncharged, small, polar molecules, (such as water) and hydrophobic molecules, (such as oxygen, carbon dioxide) and lipid soluble molecules (such as hydrocarbons) can freely pass across the membrane. All ions and large polar molecules (such as glucose) are not permeable to the membrane. Membrane structure The plasma membrane maintains dynamic homeostasis by separating the internal metabolic events of the cell from its external environment and controlling the movement of materials into and out of the cell. The membrane is a double phospholipid membrane, also referred to as a phospholipid bilayer, and has polar hydrophilic ( water loving ) phosphate heads around the outside and non polar hydrophobic ( water fearing ) fatty acid tails on the inside of the membrane. Slight variations in these structure of the fatty acids in the membrane alter the fluidity of the membrane. Phospholipids with saturated fatty acid pack more tightly, because of the nature of their single carbon bonds. This leads to a more rigid membrane. Unsaturated fatty acids, which have double carbon bonds, limit packing and result in a more flexible membrane. Cholesterol molecules distributed throughout the phospholipid bilayer provide some stability to the plasma membranes of animal cells. At higher temperatures the cholesterol molecules allow the membrane to be firmer, at lower temperatures they allow for flexibility. Some of the symptoms that are associated with GAD are restlessness/ feeling keyed up, being easily fatigues, difficulty concentrating/ having a blank mind, irritability, muscle tension, and disturbed sleep. Excessive anxiety, the most common mental health problem experienced in average youth, causes individual distress and functional impairment throughout children s lives (Gross Hen, 2004). Anxiety is also a mental status that is elicited in anticipation of threat of some kind. Sensations of anxiety are a normal part of human experiences, but excessive or inappropriate anxiety can become an illness. High levels of anxiety can be accompanied by a set of behavioral and physiological responses including avoidance, vigilance and arousal from a stimuli or stimulus. Children and adolescence of both genders usually experience anxiety symptoms at different levels of intensity that frequently afflicts their everyday life. Anxiety has been treated with drug therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), relaxation training and even systematic desensitization. To diagnose general anxiety disorder, one would look for many presenting symptoms, characteristics, and treatments. The DSM 5 has been changed many times in the past, dating back to 18th century. Country Lovers vs. The Gold Cadillac Essay Country Lovers vs. The Gold Cadillac ==================================== Both of the two stories, Country Lovers and The Gold Cadillac reveal racism. It is not a particularly hidden message. But the two of them approach it from slightly different angles. Country Lovers shows that the story is based around racism in the first paragraph: [the black children are] beginning to call their old playmates missus and baasie little master . Within the Gold Cadillac, the racism is a little better concealed. In Country Lovers, it is obviously about racism from line 10 onwards. We are constantly finding out how the white peoplehave a far better life than the black people: in education, belongings, housing, and general life. For example, while Thebedi and Njabulo live in a hut Njabulo had built in white man s style, with a tin chimney, and a proper window with glass panes set in straight as walls made of unfired bricks would allow , the farmer and his son lived in a house thick walled, dark against the heat. It is interesting to note that Njabulo has attempted to copy the white man s house, but doesn t have the resources available. The way we are told, it seems that having a proper window is something he is very proud of. However the white man has big thick walls on his house, which appear to act as a form of barrier from anything to do with the black world. At the end of the Country Lovers story, we find that the farmers son is allowed to get away with murder, and that the press and public congratulated for him. He won the case, because Thebedi had decided that it wasn t worth it, as white people run the court, that she can t win. One very effective method for talking about racism in The ... The uneven distribution of income in any given population is income inequality. In order for there to be income, there has to be several sources of income. Income may result from wages, rent, bank account interests, salaries or even profits made in business transactions ( Stiglitz, 2012). Classification of what causes inequality lies in two different classes in a broader sense, which are; individual causes, or external conditions leading to income inequality ( Rousseau, 1992). In simpler wording, the causes of inequality lie within endogenous causes and exogenous conditions. Endogenous causes of income inequality Endogenous causes are those causes that are unique and attached to an individual s characteristic. These characteristics lie in the ability of an individual to produce more than other individuals hence earning more than other individuals in the same market. These characteristics include better qualifications in carrying out a given job or other uncommon attributes that make the individual more valuable in the market place. The most common individualistic abilities sought after in the market include intelligence, charisma, personality and physical agility. An example of an individualistic attribute in use is intelligence, in the modern market, IQ tests used in measuring a person s intelligence directly reflects on the earning capability of that person. • 28. Resistance Of A Solute From Concentration Introduction Cells must move materials throughout membranes and cytoplasm in order to keep on maintaining homeostasis. This movement is regulated through cellular membranes, which are selectively permeable. Membranes have phospholipid bilayers, containing embedded proteins. The phospholipid fatty acids hinder the flow of H2O because of its hydrophobic behavior. The cellular environment is aqueous, meaning that the solutes dissolve in water (solvent). Water may cross voluntarily through the membrane by osmosis. Most ions move through protein channels, while transport proteins import larger molecules like carbohydrates. The simplest form of movement is diffusion, where solutes move from an area of high concentration to low concentration. Diffusion is directly related to molecular kinetic energy, taking in no energy input. The movement of a solute from an area of low concentration to high concentration requires energy input (ATP). The process by which water moves through membranes by a special kind of diffusion is called osmosis. Like solutes, water moves down its concentration gradient. Water moves from areas of high potential to low potential. The high potential contains low solute concentrations, while the low potential contains high solute concentrations. In surrounded cells, osmosis is affected not only by the solute concentration, but also by the defiance to water flow by the cell wall, known as turgor pressure. Nobody was satisfied with the wages during this time period but another struggle was the long hours. People worked 60 80 hour work weeks in the hot overcrowded factories, only doing one monotonous job. Lastly, the boss was very distant from the work crowd and there was little to no contact between the two groups. Also, the workers were very controlled by the foreman. The CAR is important to shareholders because it is an important measure of the financial soundness of a bank. Two types of capital are measured with the CAR. The first, tier 1 capital, can absorb a reasonable amount of loss without forcing the bank to cease its trading. The second type, tier 2 capital, can sustain loss in the event of liquidation. Tier 2 capital provides less protection to its depositors. Because of the nature of risk under which banks operate, capital regulations require banks to maintain a minimum level of equity per loans and other assets. This required minimum is designed for protection, allowing banks to sustain unanticipated losses. The minimum is also designed to offer depositors confidence in the security of their deposits given the asymmetric information. An individual depositor cannot know if a bank has taken risks beyond what it can absorb. Thus, depositors receive a level of assurance from shareholders equity, along with regulations, audits and credit ratings. At its peak in the mid 1920s, the Klan s membership was around 4 million to about 5 million. The Klan membership by 1930 eventually decreased to an estimated thirty thousand. • 44. Essay on Narrative Therapy Abstract This paper will look at the logic of narrative therapy by focusing on 5 major points. This paper will begin by discussing how the narrative approach defines and perceives problems. It will address how narrative therapy views the nature of the relationship between the client and the professional. This paper will look at how problems are solved using the narrative approach. It will also focus on three main techniques used in narrative therapy, which will include externalization, deconstruction and re authoring. This paper will also include a short narrative critique of the medical model. According to Kelley (1996) this process is recommended by narrative therapists because it allows the client to begin to see where the discourse emerged from. The therapist must first just listen to the story and determine what the client sees as the existing problem (Kelley, 1996). Then the therapist begins to ask questions with the intention of bringing forth the full meaning of the problem (Kelley, 1996). In deconstruction the therapist searches for answers as to who all is involved with the problem, what past events lead up to the problem development, how the problem changed over time, how the client has been fighting the problem thus far and how the problem is affecting the client s life (Kelley, 1996). Kelley (1996) reported that after the therapist has a full understanding of the problem the deconstruction phase moves on to its second stage. The therapist and the client begin working together to break down the prevailing story in order to map the influence the problem is having on the client s life (Kelley, 1996). Mapping the effect of the problem is particularly important because it lays the foundation of the new story line (Monk, Winslade, Crocket Epston, 1997). According to Monk, Winslade, Crocket Epston (1997) typically when the effect of the problem is discussed with the client they begin to feel as if their story has been heard. They ... • 45. Ginseng Environmental Problems Environmental Problems linked to ginseng production in Ontario: However, although consumption of ginseng has a lot of health benefits, but growing ginseng comes up with a lot of environmental problems in Ontario. Ginseng plants can only be harvested after 3 5 years of maturation and it also has to be under specific conditions such as rich sandy soils, moisture, shades and appropriate temperature to produce high quality ginseng roots (Antonacci, 2014). . Also, growing ginseng plants requires a lot of land, because after ginseng roots are harvested from a land, a particular fungus will develop in to the soil and so that land cannot grow any other forms of ginseng plants (Hoag, 2015). This means ginseng farmers have to frequently seek out for new land available to grow and harvest other forms of ginseng plants to produce a variety of ginseng products. The exploitation of lands for ginseng production will not stop as the demand for ginseng products are increasing and it will cause greater damage to the environment. When ginseng plants are made into products, only the root will be used, as other parts of the plant have no nutritional and medical value (Liu, 2017). This means other parts of the plant is useless and will be disposed as waste, contributing to environmental damages. Also, because of the high demand for ginseng, people were picking wild ginseng in forests (in Southern Ontario) causing ginseng becoming an endangered species having a very low reproduction rate ... In The Odyssey by Homer, there are a lot of powerful, strong women. Women in this poem are tough, strong willed and are treated with the respect and seriousness they deserve. (Bartleby 1). In this quote, it is talking about how women were treated well, but in reality women were treated like wasted space. As Homer writes about women, they seemed to be smarter than the men. The women know what to do, how to do it, and most importantly listen to what other people say. When Hermes tells Calypso to let Odysseus go, she obeyed. She knew if she would have ignored the gods, there would have been consequences. The men in this book aren t very good listeners. Of course, it s important to us first year college students as well as upperclassmen but not as much, because we feel that it s time to move out. But there are many more reasons why collegehousing is great and not so great. Living in on campus housing has it s perks but, here is the trick we are paying a fortune for it. Housing is apart tuition when of all it is combined. Using the tuition calculator allows you to see an estimate of how much attendance would be.(http://blue.odu.edu/admissions/calculator/) Include on campus housing and watch it rise to even more. In fact there it shows that it is a big price gap with living on campus and, that the prices should be lowered in some way. They already are paying double and of course out of all students they need housing. Because whichever state they came from it is miles away and traveling would be ridiculous. They would need to benefit from the prices of housing to be low as possible. The apparatus used in the experiment is the liquid permeameter. The liquid used in this experiment is water. Three membrane samples of different thickness (0.1, 0.2, 0.3 cm) are used as the porous media. The determination of the permeability is carried out using elevated pressure test. Each sample is tested for 5 times at different values of pressure gradient which are 5, 10, 15, 20 and 30 psi. A bank s indebtedness is primarily composed by deposits, borrowings owed to other banks, and bonds released by the bank itself in the capital market. On the other hand a bank s equity is determined by subtracting the amount of a banks liabilities from the amount of its assets; for a bank, equity largely coincides with capital. Regulation of bank capital is necessary in modern economy because without it a bank could potentially hold very modest capital and in case of losses become insolvent and unable to repay its creditors, including savers and deposit holders. The rule merely imposes a minimum proportion of assets (or a maximum proportion of debt) to equity, but those assets are not supposed to meet any specific requirements, especially in regard to their riskiness, so a bank s capital, in a system which uses the leverage ratio alone, could potentially consist solely of very high risk assets. This can lead to a shift of the entire banking system towards riskier and riskier operations, due to the fact that, because the gearing ratio imposes an higher level of capital than that, that will be hold without regulation, and this is undesirable from the perspective of a bank, since it reduces its total amount of resources that can be invested for profit, a bank would be naturally induced to invest its remaining resources in high risk assets which usually promise an higher return of profit compared to low risk assets. Such results would be obviously counterproductive, considering that the intention of assuring a shelter from insolvency would be completely defeated in the case that the high risk assets would prove to be worth less than expected. In extreme scenarios the situation could be worse than the absence of regulation, if the existence of rules imposing leverage ratios were to induce a general sense among the public of soundness of the banking system, that may prove to be misplaced in the case that the solvency of the banks is ... Being tall in the NBA doesn t guarantee you are the best players, but it does give you a significant advantage. Lebron and Kevin both have championship rings and a numerous amount of MVP s (Most Valuable Player). These awards show what having height and the skills that come with it This can give a huge disadvantage to the rest of the smaller guards and forwards in the NBA. Both Kevin and Lebron developed the skills of being big men, and once it was perfected, they developed the insane art or shooting. These two players can shoot from anywhere, that s what makes them so dominant and un guardable. Their size only adds to the fact that smaller players can t contest them or use their bodies against them. All great players like these have height and the skills that come with it. All great basketball players can be short . Guards, these are the faster, quicker, and I think more lethal players in basketball. All guards have a similar trait of being short or shorter than most players. These short guards like Steph Curry 6 3, Damian Lillard 6 3, and Isiah Thomas 5 9, obviously don t have the height to compete, but they do have an insane mind set and have all of the skills to be better than anyone else. Software testing is an important area of research and a lot of development has been made in this field and gaining more and more importance in the future. • 59. Aristotle s Types Of Friendship According to Aristotle, one can experience three different types of friendship. The first type is a friend who is used for utilitarian purposes. Aristotle, however, quickly dismisses this type. As an example, Aristotle explains that one could never be friends with wine; while wine is satisfying to the person drinking the wine, no person ever wishes wine good fortune (Aristotle, 32). In order for a relationship between two people to be considered a friendship, one must want good things for the person who they consider their friend and vice versa (Aristotle, 32). Aristotle continues to describe another type of friendship, which is friendship for pleasure. According to Aristotle, young adults are most likely to pursue pleasure related friendships, because the young are more likely to live to please their emotions; they develop friendships and erotic relationships quickly (Aristotle, 33). Aristotle notes that since young people make decisions based on their emotions, they are quick to change passions, friendships, and lovers (Aristotle, 33). Although both parties receive equal pleasure in this type of friendship, Aristotle says that it is not a complete type of friendship because it is short lasting (Aristotle, 33). Aristotle considers only one type of friendship to be complete, and that is friendship that is devoted to the other person s virtue. This type of friendship, Aristotle says, is a friendship that is developed slowly and infrequently; this is the only type of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
