My First Day As A Server At Cafe Mac
Shoveling before Winter
I swiped my card at the information desk and walked in optimistic and excited for my first day as a
server at Café Mac. Little did I know how much of my design OCD my job would trigger. After an
infinite three hours of standing, greeting and serving people I was asked to shovel heaps of ice, and
winter hadn t even started yet! The last hour of my shift at the café involved me shoveling ice out of
refrigerator deli cases, reeling the ice to the back of the kitchen, using all my might to dump heavy
baskets of ice into the sink and then the best part: running hot water over the ice for over fifteen
minutes to melt the ice. This was the first time I had seen water being used to melt ice. Coming from a
country with a huge water scarcity problem, I could not accept that I had to waste such large quantities
of water on my job. So I did the next best thing I could think of, I talked to my adviser and checked if
there was any way we could carry out this process while wasting lesser amounts of water and I was
shut down with the reply please do the work you have been assigned . Another struggle I faced was
that when I put the ice into the sink, I noticed that most of the food that fell on the ice, clogged the
sink. This was too cumbersome a job that wasted too much water and something had to be done about
it.
As I have highlighted above, the object I think that has both ethical has well as design related
problems would be that of the salad bar deli cases

Critical Analysis Of Doris Lessing s Through The Tunnel
Doris Lessing (1919 2013) was a British novelist, poet and playwright. She was awarded the 2007
Nobel Prize in Literature. In 1955, she wrote the short story, Through the Tunnel, which is one of her
famous stories. At the crowded beach (Lessing 1), Jerry, the young English boy, and his widowed
mother take a holiday. They have enjoyed their holidays on the beach for many years, but this year, he
is interested in a wild and rocky bay (Lessing 1) near the beach and goes there for the first time. He
encounters some boys who seem to be older than him there. They go through a long tunnel underwater
with breath lasting long. However, at first, Jerry cannot find even the tunnel s entrance, so he asks his
mother to buy some goggles and gains perspective ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The tunnel is literally the way of hardship he must pass through. The feeling that he first holds against
the tunnel is fear. While the boy who he encounters at the bay is passing through this tunnel, Jerry,
after waiting for the sleek brown head to appear, let out a yell of warning (Lessing 2) because he is
afraid of the boy being drowned. Also, when he finds the entrance to the tunnel, somethings soft and
clammy touched his mouth, he saw a dark frond moving against the greyish rock, and panic filled him
(Lessing 4). He has a fear against the tunnel and the fear implies how difficult his rite of passage to
become an adolescent is for him. In addition, the length of the tunnel represents the scale of the trial
that he must pass, and going through the tunnel without air indicates that he cannot go back, and must
move forward.
Third, he accomplishes his purpose and returns to his former place. Although he is prepared for death
at one time, he finally succeeds in passing through the tunnel. After overcoming the challenge, he soon
returns to the villa where his mother waits for him. He has striven for one goal, so he has no more to
do anything now: It was no longer of the least importance to go to the bay (Lessing 6). He certainly
grows both mentally and physically, and returns to his original

Daniel Suarez Against The Evolution Of Robots
Daniel Suarez is against the evolution of robots and creating robots with the power to kill. The new
technological inventions are taking power and responsibility away from humans and putting it into the
hands of the machines. This creates a new problem where the machines, especially autonomous
weapons in the military, have increased power and are vulnerable to hacking that could cause them to
turn on us. By creating lethally autonomous robotic weapons, fewer people will fight in wars and risk
their lives, thus increasing the power of the few because they will not require as much assistance
anymore. Combat drones contain dozens of cameras that create so much footage that we will need to
create software to process all of it. That means the visual

Hyperbole In The Onion
In this press release from The Onion, the author uses humor to satirizes the method by which products
are marketed to consumers with the use of hyperbole. The use of nonexistent words, supposedly

The author(s) of the article brilliantly construct even more unlikely and mocking dialogue to establish
the satiric mood of the Magna Soles shoe inserts. The official website advertises the healing power of

The Therapeutic Potential Of Genistein For Obesity Linked...
The Therapeutic Potential of Genistein for Obesity Linked Cancer First Author1, Second Author2 (14)
1(Department, College/ University Name, Country Name) (10 Italic) 2(Department, College/
University Name, Country Name) (10 Italic) Abstract: With obesity and cancer being a global issue,
this review will be focused on linking genistein s ability to simultaneously treat both related diseases.
Extensive studies have been done on genistein as a therapy for diabetes and obesity, but not enough
has been researched in its effect on obesity associated cancer. Obesity linked cancer arises at a cellular
level due to adipocytes ability to release hormones and growth factors (adipocytokines) inducing
carcinogenesis. Varying levels of adipocytokines, including leptin and adiponectin, can promote the
development of metabolic disorders such as cancer and diabetes. Therefore the most effective
treatment is to target the molecular pathways that link obesity to cancer. Genistein is known for its anti
cancer effects and inhibition of adipocyte enlargement and differentiation. This can serve as a targeted
therapeutic drug that can concurrently treat cancer and obesity. This review will cover four parts to
support the promising effects of genistein: obesity and cancer, dietary anticancer agents, clinical
significance, and future directions. Keywords genistein, adipocytes, carcinogenesis, hormones,

MM207 Statistics
Unit IV Mid Term Project
1. In the following situation identify the implied population.
A recent report on the weekly news presented the findings of a study on the effectiveness of Onglyza,
along with diet and exercise, for treating diabetes.
According to Bennett (2009), a population is defined as the complete set of people or things being
studied in a statistical study. Given that the information is in relation to finding the success of a drug
used to care for diabetes, the population would be individuals who experience diabetes. Therefore, the
implied population is the entire individual s who diabetics are. Individuals who are diabetics are those

7. What is the approximate percentage of students represented in the data set who are between the ages
of 29 and 45 inclusive?
Well I hope I am on the right track as far as this goes...I am giving it my best. There is a total of 163
people ranging between the age of 21 to 65 so what I did in order to calculate how many individuals
there are between the ages of 29 and 45 was I created a frequency chart for the total number of
individuals. So for 163 people between ages 21 to 65 = 100% and of the 100% of I calculated that
there were 88 students that represented between the ages 29 to 45 = 54%. How I came to my
conclusion was by using Stat Crunch by first going to summary states then I chose How Old which
gave me the total represented of 163. Then in Stat Crunch I created a frequency table and just counted
up the total number of students that responded there age between 29 45. Then after I calculated and
got my number of 88 I divided that number by the total number of 163 which was 0.539877301 and I
just rounded it off to 54%.

Symptoms And Treatment Of Ocd
Introduction OCD is a psychological disorder that affects a wide variety of people; OCD affects
approximately two to three percent of the general population. (Ambramowitz, Taylor, and McKay
2009). Ambramowitz and others also state that with this percent, OCD affects about twice as many
people as schizophrenia. With this many people affected, the question of what the most effective way
of treating the condition needs to be asked. The answer to the question of what the most effective way
of treating OCD was answered using the methodology of reviewing many different studies that
researched the three main options for treatment. These options include; medication, therapy, and a
combination. The effectiveness is determined by the percent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The supposed obsession must cause great distress or consume at least an hour of time per day. (DSM
VI). The effected must also recognize that the disease is an excessive or unreasonable; these do not
apply to children. OCD causes people to think differently and to want to obsess or fixate on things that
they know they should not be focused on as much. There are many different things that go towards
helping people to fix this so they can have their life back. The only question is; what is the best way to
do so? One main way to fix this issue is serotonin reuptake inhibitors. This is a pharmacological
treatment option, and the inhibitors include drugs such as Clomipramine and Sertraline. Clomipramine
and Sertraline are primarily the same thing as far as effectiveness and function go. However, there is
one difference between the two medications, and that is that Sertraline is better tolerated by the human
body than Clomipramine is. Serotonin reuptake inhibitors work by interrupting and affecting the
serotonin receptors in the brain. There are, however, a few problems with the inhibitor drugs. One
major problem is that these medications are only effective in some patients (Ambramowitz, etc.,
2009). This was proven in a study of 18 randomized trials in which the effect size was 0.91. The
people in this study were given pharmacological treatment designed to treat OCD. Some patients
showed symptoms after they were taken off of the

October 10th, 2014
Tracer Patient Audit
With an audit by the Joint Commission (JC) in the near future, Nightingale Community Hospital
(NCH) is performing a tracer patient survey to measure our compliance and identify issues that are in
need of remediation. The practice of this type of survey tracks a patient s care for the duration of their
stay starting from the admission process and ending when they are discharged. This system allows us
to assess our strengths and weaknesses concerning policy, procedures, and systems in place to provide
quality care in conjunction with the standards set forth by the JC.

The portion of the action plan consists of two main parts 1. Give all personnel a written update to this
policy as soon as it is updated 2. Nurse supervisors will conduct group training sessions to go over this
new policy and procedure, and accompanying forms a. Have all employees sign an acknowledgement
form that they understand the new policy and corresponding procedures, and received training within
14 days of establishment of the new policy The third part of the action plan will be to assess the
progress of changes. This requires measuring current and future performance against past
performance, which will need to be assessed more in depth than the initial tracer patient audit. The last
portion of the corrective action plan not only assesses the change, but might also include further
revisions to the change in policy and procedures if it is found that performance is inconsistent with the
standards set forth by the Joint Commission. The part of the plan has four parts that consist of: 1.
Conduct a randomized audit of the past 60 days prior to policy change to ascertain the percentage of
compliance before the change in policy for future comparative analysis 2. Follow up over the course

Sexually Transmitted Disease Analysis
Sexually Transmitted Diseases
Currently, reported sexually transmitted infections are at a record high in this day and age. STI reports
are getting higher and higher each year, new cases grow higher every day, especially in young adults
and teens. For example, during 2014 2015 the rate for syphilis increased 18.1% among men and
27.3% among women ( Sexually Transmitted Disease Surveillance 2015 31). And although STI s are
completely preventable, they are still being spread like wildfire from person to person. STI s are an
important part of health, as many STDs affect the overall wellness of our body s function and ability
to protect itself from other infections and diseases. Certain STD s are even fatal, both directly and
indirectly. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The importance of education plays the biggest role in preventing STD, as well as diagnosing and

are prioritized past social situations that would otherwise, encourage transmission. Being detailed and
communicating thoroughly can prevent any mistakes from happening. Exposure of education and STD
clinics to all walks of life can help both with all the aspects of STDs. STDs are a very important part

ADVERSE POSSESSION
Adverse possession is a method by which a trespasser gains legal title to a property by occupying it
for some period. This kind of ownership may not be necessarily intentional, it can occur as a mistake
where a deed may be faulty. Both personal and real property can be acquired by adverse possession.
However, ownership of property for public use for instance school property or a highway cannot be
lost through adverse possession.
The history of adverse possession can be traced back to the 12th century. During this time, a squatter
could prove his right to ownership of property by the act of possession. Gradually, the law has been
seen to favour the squatters as opposed to the landowners. The law required that the squatter had proof
that he had dispossessed the property exclusively for 60 years in order to bar a landlord s actions.
There were further developments in the Statute of Limitations restricting other rights of the landlord in
1639. A landlord s title would expire after a squatter had dispossessed a property for 20 years
exclusively. Further amendments reduced the required time period from 20 to 12 years of exclusive
dispossession.
The earliest codification in English law of adverse possession was the Statute of Westminster in 1275
which limited actions towards recovery of land by barring the real owners from establishing claims
that were

freedom to choose what we want to do, to have successful lives if we work hard enough, and for all
types of people to have opportunities. That is the United States. When living in the United States all
people have the freedom to choose what they want to do when they want to do it. In America, we have
laws that are put in place to protect the people. But we still have many rights and freedoms that allow
us to do many activities. We do have something to protect us and our rights. We have documents like
the constitution and the bill of rights that have been written to give the people rights and to protect the
rights that we have been given. These documents have been used for hundreds of years to protect the
American people. These documents are still used today because people today still want the same rights
and freedoms that our founding fathers wanted. We have these rights to give us the freedom to do
what we want like choose a job or career. In Franklin D. Roosevelt s speech The Four Freedoms he

Toxic Shock Syndrome Research Paper
Toxic shock syndrome is a rare, life threatening complication that is the outcome of certain types of
bacterial infections. It is caused by the release of poisonous substances due to an overgrowth of the
bacteria Streptococcus aureus, or strep, which is found in the bodies of most women. Toxic shock
syndrome has historically been associated primarily with the use of superabsorbent tampons.
However, due to this fact most manufacturers have pulled certain types of tampons off the market;
which has caused the incidence of toxic shock syndrome in menstruating women to decline. Toxic
shock syndrome can also affect men, children, and postmenopausal women. Risk factors for toxic
shock syndrome include skin wounds and may even lead to surgery. If there is someone at risk for
toxic shock syndrome they must look out for the symptoms so they can get immediate medical care. ...

Individuality Vs Conformity
It can be seen in our everyday lives how easy it is for people to conform to the social norms of a group
or society. Wayne Dyer once said When you re just like everybody else, you ve nothing to offer other
than your conformity and I believe that this statement couldn t be more accurate. Recently, it has
become more acceptable for people to express their individuality and showing one s true colours is
being promoted. It is better to be a unique individual than to conform to society because conformity
destroys personal growth and development. We need to express our originality and by conforming to
what others want us to be, we squander any chance of achieving self acceptance. People are more
likely to conform is when they are placed in a group setting. An individual will not want to break the
group unanimity so they will conform to whatever decision the group comes to, even if it goes against
their beliefs or values. I firmly believe that if we pay less attention to what others expect of us and
expressing our individuality, we can offer more to society and develop and grow as human beings.

Group conformity can have negative aspects to it when the group one is joining is violent and does
harmful acts. The pressure that comes from group conformity can often lead people to do activities
that they know is wrong or that go against their beliefs and values. Groups often provide a sense of
belonging which is why the members of a group will be more likely to perform unacceptable acts. If
someone were to join a gang, for instance, then they will do whatever they need to in order to feel that
sense of belonging. This is when there can be negative aspects to group conformity, when the group
you are conforming to performs dangerous or illegal activities. However, there are moments when

Imagine a world where seawater is the primary source of drinking water for almost all countries. This
water could provide towns and cities with safe, regulation abiding nourishment, equipped with all the
minerals and purifiers added to modern drinking water. Of course, drinking straight seawater day after
day would not only taste unpleasant, it would be harmful to a person s body. The briny mixture would
have to be filtered and treated in processes similar to how wastewater is treated. But wastewater does
not contain nearly as much saline as seawater, so an additional process must be put into place to fully
treat seawater that is to be turned into safe drinking water. This process is called desalination, and it is
already being put into practice in several different areas around the world. It has helped pull countries
out of droughts and other natural disasters. Desalination is not flawless, however, and more research
on cost, environmental impacts, and energy efficiency, needs to be conducted before considering it a
sustainable drinking water system that the entire world can rely on. As mentioned previously,
desalination is the process in which salt is removed from water (DVS Marketing). While this process
sounds fairly modern, it is not a new technology: the first official use was in 1791; this was shared in a

Essay On How To Throw A Baseball Pitch
Many times, someone who plays baseball, or knows something about baseball, may see someone
simply throw a rock and think, Wow, they really could have a future with the arm they have. You may
not be interested in baseball, but you can be enlightened with something from people who are very
good at what they do. Maybe, some of you could take some things, and apply them, and you will find
a hidden talent. The topic of enlightenment is how to throw different baseball pitches.
First off, the supplies that are needed are, but certainly are not limited to: a baseball, a baseball glove,

To reach this potential, you can take lessons from someone who has perfected the craft of pitching.
With all of these things, you must now learn to throw the pitches.
After having gained all the materials needed and having the proper instruction, you can now begin
learning to throw different pitches. However, you must first know what each pitch does, what the pitch
is used to do, and how the pitch is most effective for you. The three main pitches are the fastball,
change up, and curveball. To start, the fastball is a pitch that has the most speed out of any other pitch.
While the pitch is called a fastball, there are two different types of fastballs: the two seam and the four
seam. The two seam fastball is relatively similar to the four seam, however the two seam will move
into a right handed batter and away from a left handed batter. The fastball is used to get a strike on the
batter, set the batter nup for an offspeed pitch, and often, it is used after an offspeed pitch to disrupt
the hitter s timing. Now, the curveball is often the pitch with the lowest velocity. A curveball also has
the most movement among all pitches.

The Rights Of Habeas Corpus
The president s executive order 456 that called for the suspension of the writ of habeas corpus amid
intense political instability was necessary. In order to give legal advice with substance to Her

the period of time the civil war lasted. The counsel is reviewing Madame Dove s actions on three
folds, 1, is her action to wage war constitutional? 2, is her action violate the constitution check and

answering with the fact patterns available. According to the United States constitution Art I sec 9 cl 2
the privilege of habeas corpus shall not be suspended unless when cases of rebellion or invasion the
public safety may require it. Habeas Corpus allows detainee to question the reason for their

Most Likely Diagnosis Essay
Most Likely Diagnosis
The first most likely diagnosis would be acute gastroenteritis. According to Aftab and Churgay (2012),
the patient has acute gastroenteritis is often defined as the onset of diarrhea in the absence of chronic
disease, with or without abdominal pain, fever, nausea, or vomiting . This 18 month year old patient
has had 6 episodes of diarrhea and 4 episodes of vomiting per day that occurred for two days. The
patient also has no history of having a chronic disease.
Confirm Diagnosis
To begin, there would be several different ways to diagnosis acute gastroenteritis. Aftab and Churgay
(2012) discuss how they would define diarrhea as having three or more water or loose stools in a 24
hour period, which is seen in this patient. Then the diarrhea would be noninflammatory due to it not
having any blood or mucus in it along with having no fever present. Aftab and Churgay (2012) would
include history such as how often the child is urinating and having bowel movements, whether
vomiting is interfering with the child s ability to keep down fluids and solid food, the duration of

Psycho Film Analysis
Film Art defines traditional classical Hollywood cinema as fictional filmmaking . . . dominated by a
single tradition of narrative form (Bordwell, Thompson, Film Art , 100). Psycho set the bar for
suspense films with its spine tingling twists and turns that kept the viewer guessing. The film took
traditional elements of classical Hollywood cinema to a higher degree. Camera shots, use of space on
and off camera, and character s characteristics all led the viewer on a wild cinematic ride unheard of at
the time.
Films use casual agents to direct the flow of the narrative through their desires and goals. There is a

The mise en scene helps to define and obscure scenes in Psycho with color, lighting, camera angles,

Marion s choice to steal. Colors and tones like black/white or light/dark represent good and bad.
Filmed in black and white really enhances this contrast. Before Marion steals the money, she is

apartment after she steals the money, Marion is wearing black underwear, puts on a gray dress and

clothes are similar in tonal color indicating they are similar. Back lighting and accent lighting help set

Disadvantages Of The Partnership Act 1891
According to the Partnership Act 1891 (SA), section 1(1), a partnership is defined in four sections.
These sections relate to a business which includes any trade, occupation or profession that is carrying
on involving continuity and system in common in terms of mutuality of rights and obligations with all
the partners, and lastly with a view to profit, therefore resulting in an incorporated limited partnership.
A corporation, however, is defined as a separate legal entity from its owners that also has the rights
and responsibilities that an individual or a partnership entity possesses. This means that corporations
and their shareholders have the right to participate in the profits, but will not be held accountable for
the company s debts and legal issues.
The advantages of a partnership are generally about the financials of the structure, whereas the
disadvantages tend to be more towards the liability of the partners involved. Comprehensively, the
advantages consist of the formation of a partnership which can be relatively simple as it involves an
express agreement in the form of a written agreement, usually acknowledged as a deed, or an oral
agreement. Partnerships can also be formed with no express partnership agreement, via implication or
conduct where the courts have held a partnership existed from the conduct of the parties. Nevertheless,
this meaning is unclear as negative rules exist also, for instance section 2(1)(a c) of the Partnership
Act 1891 (SA) which state

The Problem Of Complacency Is Really One Of The Major...
Complacency is definitely one of the major reasons realistic training has suffered over the last few
years. Multiple deployments, sometimes to the same area of operations, has fostered a laid back
approach to unit s road to war training. Even rotations to the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC)
incorporated similar scenarios that don t require too much complex thinking on behalf of the unit. In
the last year JRTC has started focusing more on the DATE scenario in preparation for future conflicts.
Units need to develop a training program to fill the gap between RL progression and deployments or
CTC rotations.

Realistic training should start by researching the enemy we will be facing. Once the capabilities of
your enemy has been defined, planning on how to successfully defeat their technology can be
accomplished. Once a plan is developed units can begin conducting collective training starting with
the classroom and eventually building up to simulators and finally operations in the aircraft. Most
Divisions usually conduct a culminating training event every year, communicating your training
objectives to the ground unit can help to build your unit s proficiency.
Week 5 Discussion Board: Tactics Discuss the importance of realistic tactics training
In the Army we say train as you fight , this concept has been a building block for all soldiers to follow
since basic training. In some units, this concept has been ignored as multiple deployments to the same
theater has brought about a sense of complacency in the ranks. As the focus of the Army is shifting
towards a hybrid threat and we will inevitably be facing a more complex skilled enemy with far better
equipment, our approach to training needs to be re thought.
Leaders at all levels have the responsibility to ensure their subordinates are as prepared as they can be
going into a deployment. An organized training plan consisting of some individual tasks building up to
mission tasks at all echelon

The Unification of Germany Essay
The Unification of Germany
Bismarck
Otto von Bismarck achieved the unification of the disjointed German states through the skillful
understanding of realpolitikand the Machiavellian use of war as a political tool to eliminate Germany s
rival nations, gain the support of the German people and gain territory. This ultimately created a
German legacy of strong militaristic tendencies, scheming national relations, and economic clout
challenging the European heavyweights like England and France. Bismarck s plan for unification
began with his instigation of war with the small German states of Schleswig and Holstein over an
insignificant dispute concerning the governing of the states. Bismarck s ... Show more content on

Using the tools of realpolitik, Bismarck negotiated a settlement of uneasy peace with the division,
which would help to provoke the next war in his course towards unification. Bismarck had also
expanded the influence of the German Confederation with this move as well as gained an important
access to the sea. This was the first instance of Prussia asserting itself internationally, and it wouldn t
be the last before unification was complete. To get the support of his king, Bismarck appealed to his
militaristic side, as the king originally was disinclined to start a war, but after appealing to his
militaristic and nationalistic sentiments, Bismarck effectively convinced his king to go to war.
Conducting the war in Schleswig Holstein was a simple task for Prussia, but the aftermath was more
involved. With the two states defeated, Bismarck fought to see them divided between Prussia and
Austria ensuring tensions between the two. The final arrangement was as abrasive as possible, and the
Seven Weeks War, between Prussia and Austria soon followed because of this outcome. Bismarck
entered this war with a unique goal for its conclusion as his main goal was not to instigate a conflict to
defeat an enemy, but to merely assert the sovereignty of the German states. He kept this goal in mind
when conducting the war, and he avoided creating a humiliating defeat

Something as simple as perspective among Eliphalet and Sam tears the Meeker family apart. In My
Brother Sam Is Dead by Collier and Collier talk about how people of all ages fought in the war. Yale
students did rush away to get weapons and join the war in 1775. (Collier and Collier 214). Sam was
one of those Yale students who went to fight and among him, as explained in the previous quote, were
many others. Although Sam thought highly of leaving school to fight Eliphalet Meeker felt otherwise.
Eliphalet Meeker says to Sam, Now take off that uniform and go back to your studies. We also see a
clash of generations with the adults in Redding who are also against war. Mr. Beach, the Pastor of the
Anglican church in Redding, says, God meant man to obey. He meant children to obey their fathers,
he meant men to obey their kings. The constant argument between the generations is whether or not
the younger generations should even have any input when it came to the war. This constant clash of
generations was not only causing issues between Loyalists and Patriots but also causing problems
between the generations that comprise each side.
In My Brother Sam Is Dead by Collier and Collier the general argument between Eliphalet and Sam
has to do with Sam ideals of war and Eliphalet s realities of war. Sam says, It s not the money, it s the
principle. (Collier and Collier 21). Sam fights for his principle of freedom and the glory of war.

The Modern Concept Of Lean Management
The modern concept of lean management as used today can be traced back to the Toyota Production
System (TPS). The manufacturing philosophy was pioneered by Japanese engineers to emphasize the
minimization of waste and focus on doing it right the first time (Davis and Heineke, 2005). Engineers
knew that waste was something that customers were not willing to pay for thus they should try and
eliminate it. This led to the discovery that inventory is essentially waste. Keeping parts and products
in stock adds no value to a company, and should be eliminated. Although lean production began in
Japan, it now has been successfully implemented across the globe (Agus and Hajinoor, 2012). The
integrated activity, know as lean production in supply chain management, is designed to achieve high
volume flexible production using very minimal inventories of raw materials. This is based on the idea
that nothing will be produced until it is need. The process is implemented throughout the supply chain
with the signal essentially moving backwards from the customer all the way back to raw materials.
Lean production is an entire new way of thinking which includes the integration of vision, culture, and
strategy to serve the customer with high quality, low cost, and short delivery times (Shook and
Womack, 2015). Lean production is generally described from two points of view, either from a
philosophical perspective related to guiding principles and overarching goals, or from the practical

Jesus is from God. The true meaning of this passage is that only those open to his teaching, would
more understanding be given, and they will have an abundance of knowledge. But to those who are
not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away from them. Speaking in
parables allowed Jesus to conceal the power and radical claims of his Kingdom from those who will
not believe and do not seek the truth. At same the time, his stories reveal the powerful message of God
s Kingdom to the hearts of those seeking truth and following Jesus. He could and would continue to
minister to the crowds, but no longer try to teach them because they would refuse to listen. Their
inability to penetrate to the meaning of Jesus and his mission is the result of their obstinate disbelief
and dullness of heart, as Isaiah had prophesied (13:10 15).
In the book of Mark, Jesus goes on to warn us that If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear. Consider

In addition, I had the opportunity of case studies. Which gave me a well rounded perspective on
particular cases in International Relations. For instance, at Turkish Foreign Policy class, we analyzed
Cyprus Issue with all aspects, actors, approaches and events. By learning international security
theories, I was able to realize that, every conflict and situation can be systematically and sophistically
analyzed by IR theories. Without studying security theories, international disputes cannot be analyzed
and understood properly. Throughout my studies as an undergraduate student, the importance of
economic effects on International Relations became obvious to me. Current market liberal economic
system and multi national companies affect policy making processes of the states. Economic crisis
affects nearly every country on the globe because of economic interdependence between countries.
Thus, in order to understand and gain more sophisticated perspective about economic effects on IR, I
attended classes as, International Economics, History of International Economic Relations and History

Analysis Of Social Service Work Values
One of the social service work values required in this situation includes, service to humanity
(Ramsarran, 2015, p. 3). Referencing the text on the values and ethnics of social service work
provided during first semester, service to humanity focuses on upholding service in the interest of
others consistent with social justice (Ramsarran, 2015, p. 3). It explores balancing one s own needs
with the collective needs of the people (Ramsarran, 2015, p. 3). Furthermore, it involves acting in a
professional capacity, placing professional service before personal goals or advantage (Ramsarran,
2015, p. 3). The above is relevant to my situation in that I balanced my own needs with that of the
people in Jessica and all of the individuals she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Durst s They Say I Say
In chapter 4 of They Say I Say, Graff, Birkenstein, Durst focus on the strategies in offering the writers
response to the other s idea. Generally, the three most common attitudes of response are agreement,
disagreement and combination of the former two attitudes. Since a disagreement to someone s idea
means a new argument in the essay, authors claim that the writer who shows a disagreement to
someone s idea should continue providing a reason or explanation. Equally, writer who shows a
combination attitude to someone s idea should continue stating the part that he/she disagree and the
reasons of this attitude. Besides the strategies, authors also provide the templates in clearly responding
the they say . In chapter 5, Graff, Birkenstein,

3. Depreciation Methods
The Grant Horace Company purchased a new machine on April 1, 2013, for $48,000. The machine is
expected to have a life of five years and a residual value of $3,000. The company s fiscal year ends on
December 31.
Required:
1. Determine the appropriate amount of depreciation for 2013 and 2014 applying each of the
following methods:
Year Straight line SYD DDB 2013 2014

2014: $45,000 x 5/15 = $15,000 x 3/12 = $ 3,750 + 45,000 x 4/15 = $12,000 x 9/12 = 9,000 Total
2014 depreciation $12,750
DDB:

Intervention: Oldest two children had to be moved from group home, they tried to leave. One of the
girls had to go to alternative school because of behavior issues and got into trouble at alternative
school due to sexuality issues ( coming on to other girls), the other has been developing relationship
with another guy in group home writing letters about sex and love. The mother has missed

The oldest jumps in to anything involving her sister as a protector. At the current foster home that only
consists of the sister and the foster parent the oldest seems to be the one with the issues. The younger
one has adapted very well, in regular school grades are good and no behavior or sexuality issues. The
oldest however seems to have a problem with being told what to do, having chores and consequences
for her action. This all comes from her having to be the mother for her siblings and no proper adult
figure around. Both the foster mother and child are doing counseling together and separate. I feel this
is the best for them, this is where change begins and a new life for them as well. The mother is still not
complying with counseling. Not answering the door or either saying she is too sick to talk so visits are
cut short. But she says that she does like the counseling sessions and wants to keep doing it. Mother
still drinks and says she does not see a problem. Still not working, house evaluation failed. Mother no
longer asks about getting kids back. I feel that she has given up and so has the CM. There was no
changes in the plan. Both older children were promoted to next grade they still visit with siblings and
mother every other weekend still monitored. In court Judge told mother bluntly that she is not slow
and is very intelligent that she just needs to get herself together so

  • 2. My First Day As A Server At Cafe Mac Shoveling before Winter I swiped my card at the information desk and walked in optimistic and excited for my first day as a server at Café Mac. Little did I know how much of my design OCD my job would trigger. After an infinite three hours of standing, greeting and serving people I was asked to shovel heaps of ice, and winter hadn t even started yet! The last hour of my shift at the café involved me shoveling ice out of refrigerator deli cases, reeling the ice to the back of the kitchen, using all my might to dump heavy baskets of ice into the sink and then the best part: running hot water over the ice for over fifteen minutes to melt the ice. This was the first time I had seen water being used to melt ice. Coming from a country with a huge water scarcity problem, I could not accept that I had to waste such large quantities of water on my job. So I did the next best thing I could think of, I talked to my adviser and checked if there was any way we could carry out this process while wasting lesser amounts of water and I was shut down with the reply please do the work you have been assigned . Another struggle I faced was that when I put the ice into the sink, I noticed that most of the food that fell on the ice, clogged the sink. This was too cumbersome a job that wasted too much water and something had to be done about it. As I have highlighted above, the object I think that has both ethical has well as design related problems would be that of the salad bar deli cases ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Critical Analysis Of Doris Lessing s Through The Tunnel Doris Lessing (1919 2013) was a British novelist, poet and playwright. She was awarded the 2007 Nobel Prize in Literature. In 1955, she wrote the short story, Through the Tunnel, which is one of her famous stories. At the crowded beach (Lessing 1), Jerry, the young English boy, and his widowed mother take a holiday. They have enjoyed their holidays on the beach for many years, but this year, he is interested in a wild and rocky bay (Lessing 1) near the beach and goes there for the first time. He encounters some boys who seem to be older than him there. They go through a long tunnel underwater with breath lasting long. However, at first, Jerry cannot find even the tunnel s entrance, so he asks his mother to buy some goggles and gains perspective ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The tunnel is literally the way of hardship he must pass through. The feeling that he first holds against the tunnel is fear. While the boy who he encounters at the bay is passing through this tunnel, Jerry, after waiting for the sleek brown head to appear, let out a yell of warning (Lessing 2) because he is afraid of the boy being drowned. Also, when he finds the entrance to the tunnel, somethings soft and clammy touched his mouth, he saw a dark frond moving against the greyish rock, and panic filled him (Lessing 4). He has a fear against the tunnel and the fear implies how difficult his rite of passage to become an adolescent is for him. In addition, the length of the tunnel represents the scale of the trial that he must pass, and going through the tunnel without air indicates that he cannot go back, and must move forward. Third, he accomplishes his purpose and returns to his former place. Although he is prepared for death at one time, he finally succeeds in passing through the tunnel. After overcoming the challenge, he soon returns to the villa where his mother waits for him. He has striven for one goal, so he has no more to do anything now: It was no longer of the least importance to go to the bay (Lessing 6). He certainly grows both mentally and physically, and returns to his original ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The new technological inventions are taking power and responsibility away from humans and putting it into the hands of the machines. This creates a new problem where the machines, especially autonomous weapons in the military, have increased power and are vulnerable to hacking that could cause them to turn on us. By creating lethally autonomous robotic weapons, fewer people will fight in wars and risk their lives, thus increasing the power of the few because they will not require as much assistance anymore. Combat drones contain dozens of cameras that create so much footage that we will need to create software to process all of it. That means the visual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Therapeutic Potential of Genistein for Obesity Linked Cancer First Author1, Second Author2 (14) 1(Department, College/ University Name, Country Name) (10 Italic) 2(Department, College/ University Name, Country Name) (10 Italic) Abstract: With obesity and cancer being a global issue, this review will be focused on linking genistein s ability to simultaneously treat both related diseases. Extensive studies have been done on genistein as a therapy for diabetes and obesity, but not enough has been researched in its effect on obesity associated cancer. Obesity linked cancer arises at a cellular level due to adipocytes ability to release hormones and growth factors (adipocytokines) inducing carcinogenesis. Varying levels of adipocytokines, including leptin and adiponectin, can promote the development of metabolic disorders such as cancer and diabetes. Therefore the most effective treatment is to target the molecular pathways that link obesity to cancer. Genistein is known for its anti cancer effects and inhibition of adipocyte enlargement and differentiation. This can serve as a targeted therapeutic drug that can concurrently treat cancer and obesity. This review will cover four parts to support the promising effects of genistein: obesity and cancer, dietary anticancer agents, clinical significance, and future directions. A recent report on the weekly news presented the findings of a study on the effectiveness of Onglyza, along with diet and exercise, for treating diabetes. According to Bennett (2009), a population is defined as the complete set of people or things being studied in a statistical study. What is the approximate percentage of students represented in the data set who are between the ages of 29 and 45 inclusive? Well I hope I am on the right track as far as this goes...I am giving it my best. There is a total of 163 people ranging between the age of 21 to 65 so what I did in order to calculate how many individuals there are between the ages of 29 and 45 was I created a frequency chart for the total number of individuals. So for 163 people between ages 21 to 65 = 100% and of the 100% of I calculated that there were 88 students that represented between the ages 29 to 45 = 54%. How I came to my conclusion was by using Stat Crunch by first going to summary states then I chose How Old which gave me the total represented of 163. Then in Stat Crunch I created a frequency table and just counted up the total number of students that responded there age between 29 45. Then after I calculated and got my number of 88 I divided that number by the total number of 163 which was 0.539877301 and I just rounded it off to 54%. 8. (Ambramowitz, Taylor, and McKay 2009). Ambramowitz and others also state that with this percent, OCD affects about twice as many people as schizophrenia. With this many people affected, the question of what the most effective way of treating the condition needs to be asked. The answer to the question of what the most effective way of treating OCD was answered using the methodology of reviewing many different studies that researched the three main options for treatment. The supposed obsession must cause great distress or consume at least an hour of time per day. (DSM VI). The effected must also recognize that the disease is an excessive or unreasonable; these do not apply to children. OCD causes people to think differently and to want to obsess or fixate on things that they know they should not be focused on as much. There are many different things that go towards helping people to fix this so they can have their life back. The only question is; what is the best way to do so? One main way to fix this issue is serotonin reuptake inhibitors. This is a pharmacological treatment option, and the inhibitors include drugs such as Clomipramine and Sertraline. Clomipramine and Sertraline are primarily the same thing as far as effectiveness and function go. However, there is one difference between the two medications, and that is that Sertraline is better tolerated by the human body than Clomipramine is. Serotonin reuptake inhibitors work by interrupting and affecting the serotonin receptors in the brain. There are, however, a few problems with the inhibitor drugs. One major problem is that these medications are only effective in some patients (Ambramowitz, etc., 2009). This was proven in a study of 18 randomized trials in which the effect size was 0.91. The people in this study were given pharmacological treatment designed to treat OCD. Some patients showed symptoms after they were taken off of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Adverse Possession Is A Method By Student s Name ADVERSE POSSESSION By Student s Name Code + Course Name Institution of Learning City, State Date ADVERSE POSSESSION Adverse possession is a method by which a trespasser gains legal title to a property by occupying it for some period. This kind of ownership may not be necessarily intentional, it can occur as a mistake where a deed may be faulty. Both personal and real property can be acquired by adverse possession. However, ownership of property for public use for instance school property or a highway cannot be lost through adverse possession. The history of adverse possession can be traced back to the 12th century. During this time, a squatter could prove his right to ownership of property by the act of possession. Gradually, the law has been seen to favour the squatters as opposed to the landowners. The law required that the squatter had proof that he had dispossessed the property exclusively for 60 years in order to bar a landlord s actions. There were further developments in the Statute of Limitations restricting other rights of the landlord in 1639. A landlord s title would expire after a squatter had dispossessed a property for 20 years exclusively. Further amendments reduced the required time period from 20 to 12 years of exclusive dispossession. The earliest codification in English law of adverse possession was the Statute of Westminster in 1275 which limited actions towards recovery of land by barring the real owners from establishing claims that were ... • 16. Individuality Vs Conformity It can be seen in our everyday lives how easy it is for people to conform to the social norms of a group or society. Wayne Dyer once said When you re just like everybody else, you ve nothing to offer other than your conformity and I believe that this statement couldn t be more accurate. Recently, it has become more acceptable for people to express their individuality and showing one s true colours is being promoted. It is better to be a unique individual than to conform to society because conformity destroys personal growth and development. We need to express our originality and by conforming to what others want us to be, we squander any chance of achieving self acceptance. People are more likely to conform is when they are placed in a group setting. An individual will not want to break the group unanimity so they will conform to whatever decision the group comes to, even if it goes against their beliefs or values. I firmly believe that if we pay less attention to what others expect of us and expressing our individuality, we can offer more to society and develop and grow as human beings. Living life as who ... Research Paper On Desalination Desalination Lyndsey Parnell Mrs. O Sullivan English III 2 March 2016 Lyndsey Parnell Mrs. O Sullivan English III 2 March 2016 Desalination Imagine a world where seawater is the primary source of drinking water for almost all countries. This water could provide towns and cities with safe, regulation abiding nourishment, equipped with all the minerals and purifiers added to modern drinking water. Of course, drinking straight seawater day after day would not only taste unpleasant, it would be harmful to a person s body. The briny mixture would have to be filtered and treated in processes similar to how wastewater is treated. But wastewater does not contain nearly as much saline as seawater, so an additional process must be put into place to fully treat seawater that is to be turned into safe drinking water. This process is called desalination, and it is already being put into practice in several different areas around the world. It has helped pull countries out of droughts and other natural disasters. Desalination is not flawless, however, and more research on cost, environmental impacts, and energy efficiency, needs to be conducted before considering it a sustainable drinking water system that the entire world can rely on. After having gained all the materials needed and having the proper instruction, you can now begin learning to throw different pitches. However, you must first know what each pitch does, what the pitch is used to do, and how the pitch is most effective for you. The three main pitches are the fastball, change up, and curveball. To start, the fastball is a pitch that has the most speed out of any other pitch. While the pitch is called a fastball, there are two different types of fastballs: the two seam and the four seam. The two seam fastball is relatively similar to the four seam, however the two seam will move into a right handed batter and away from a left handed batter. The fastball is used to get a strike on the batter, set the batter nup for an offspeed pitch, and often, it is used after an offspeed pitch to disrupt the hitter s timing. Now, the curveball is often the pitch with the lowest velocity. A curveball also has the most movement among all pitches. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These sections relate to a business which includes any trade, occupation or profession that is carrying on involving continuity and system in common in terms of mutuality of rights and obligations with all the partners, and lastly with a view to profit, therefore resulting in an incorporated limited partnership. A corporation, however, is defined as a separate legal entity from its owners that also has the rights and responsibilities that an individual or a partnership entity possesses. This means that corporations and their shareholders have the right to participate in the profits, but will not be held accountable for the company s debts and legal issues. The advantages of a partnership are generally about the financials of the structure, whereas the disadvantages tend to be more towards the liability of the partners involved. Comprehensively, the advantages consist of the formation of a partnership which can be relatively simple as it involves an express agreement in the form of a written agreement, usually acknowledged as a deed, or an oral agreement. Partnerships can also be formed with no express partnership agreement, via implication or conduct where the courts have held a partnership existed from the conduct of the parties. This was the first instance of Prussia asserting itself internationally, and it wouldn t be the last before unification was complete. To get the support of his king, Bismarck appealed to his militaristic side, as the king originally was disinclined to start a war, but after appealing to his militaristic and nationalistic sentiments, Bismarck effectively convinced his king to go to war. Conducting the war in Schleswig Holstein was a simple task for Prussia, but the aftermath was more involved. With the two states defeated, Bismarck fought to see them divided between Prussia and Austria ensuring tensions between the two. The final arrangement was as abrasive as possible, and the Seven Weeks War, between Prussia and Austria soon followed because of this outcome. The manufacturing philosophy was pioneered by Japanese engineers to emphasize the minimization of waste and focus on doing it right the first time (Davis and Heineke, 2005). Engineers knew that waste was something that customers were not willing to pay for thus they should try and eliminate it. This led to the discovery that inventory is essentially waste. Keeping parts and products in stock adds no value to a company, and should be eliminated. Although lean production began in Japan, it now has been successfully implemented across the globe (Agus and Hajinoor, 2012). The integrated activity, know as lean production in supply chain management, is designed to achieve high volume flexible production using very minimal inventories of raw materials. This is based on the idea that nothing will be produced until it is need. The process is implemented throughout the supply chain with the signal essentially moving backwards from the customer all the way back to raw materials. Lean production is an entire new way of thinking which includes the integration of vision, culture, and strategy to serve the customer with high quality, low cost, and short delivery times (Shook and Womack, 2015). • 39. Organization s Model Of Health Care Performance, Quality... The purpose of this paper is to discuss my organization s model of health care performance, quality assessment, and management. Improving the quality of health care in the United States is necessary (Sherwood Zomorodi, 2014). According to Huber (2014), based on measurable criteria, health care quality is knowing whether care resulted in expected clinic outcomes. Health care quality and safety are part of Saint Mary s Medical Center s mission, vision and culture. For instance, the organization s vision statement includes delivering high quality health care services in compliance with all applicable rules, regulations, and standards, which calls for system wide quality improvement (SMMC, 2016). Furthermore, the organization stresses that all employees are responsible for identifying opportunities for improvement (SMMC, 2015). Moreover, it is important to note, nurses are bound by their Code of Ethics to protect the health and safety of patients (Huber, 2014). Organizational Quality Program, Goals, and Structure Saint Mary s Medical Center s quality goals include patient centered care that improves patient outcomes, patient safety, and reduces health care cost (SMMC, 2015). The organization s mission, vision, and quality improvement goals ensure accountability of all employees, for examples reducing falls, pressure ulcers, and central line associated bloodstream infections (SMMC, 2015). The organization not only focuses on accreditation and regulatory compliance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Jesus Used Parables to Tell the Truth Abou the Kingdom of God Jesus was famous for telling parables. Throughout his life on earth he told more than forty of them. A parable by definition is a short allegorical story designed to illustrate or teach some truth, religious principle, or moral lesson. (Harper) When you hear the story, you can relate it to your own life. It is like an illustration for the points in a sermon. It conveys its message of truth through analogy, through comparison or contrast. Jesus spoke to the people in this manner for a few distinct reasons. Parables are told to reveal the truths about the kingdom of God. To be revealed in a manner in which only those who truly care will come to know. By doing so Jesus was able to separate the audience into two groups, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He was now alone with the disciples when they wanted to know why he spoke in these parables. This passage can be confusing at first glance. It sounds like Jesus is stating that he intentionally uses parables so that he can reach out to some and not others. At this point the crowds who came for miracles are also full of skeptics, critics, and enemies. This group would hear his words, but then refuse to really listen to the message. They saw great acts of power, but would refuse to believe that Jesus is from God. The true meaning of this passage is that only those open to his teaching, would more understanding be given, and they will have an abundance of knowledge. But to those who are not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away from them. Speaking in parables allowed Jesus to conceal the power and radical claims of his Kingdom from those who will not believe and do not seek the truth. At same the time, his stories reveal the powerful message of God s Kingdom to the hearts of those seeking truth and following Jesus. He could and would continue to minister to the crowds, but no longer try to teach them because they would refuse to listen. Their inability to penetrate to the meaning of Jesus and his mission is the result of their obstinate disbelief and dullness of heart, as Isaiah had prophesied (13:10 15). In the book of Mark, Jesus goes on to warn us that If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear. Consider carefully what you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Durst s They Say I Say In chapter 4 of They Say I Say, Graff, Birkenstein, Durst focus on the strategies in offering the writers response to the other s idea. Generally, the three most common attitudes of response are agreement, disagreement and combination of the former two attitudes. Since a disagreement to someone s idea means a new argument in the essay, authors claim that the writer who shows a disagreement to someone s idea should continue providing a reason or explanation. Equally, writer who shows a combination attitude to someone s idea should continue stating the part that he/she disagree and the reasons of this attitude. The younger one has adapted very well, in regular school grades are good and no behavior or sexuality issues. The oldest however seems to have a problem with being told what to do, having chores and consequences for her action. This all comes from her having to be the mother for her siblings and no proper adult figure around. Both the foster mother and child are doing counseling together and separate. I feel this is the best for them, this is where change begins and a new life for them as well. The mother is still not complying with counseling.
