2. The Three Argument Of Ethical Egoism
Ethical Egoism
I Shayka Wood
PHI112C41 Ethics: AH3
Professor Jake Camp Ethical Egoism is the doctrine that each person ought to pursue his or her own
self interest exclusively. Ethical Egoism is the idea that the principle of self interest accounts for all of
one s obligations (Rachels Rachels, 2016). With Ethical Egoism, sometimes helping others will also
help yourself. Ethical Egoism does not say to not help others. The benefit to others is not what makes
the act right; the act is right because it benefits you. A common misunderstanding with this theory is
that an Ethical Egoist is egotistical Ethical egoism endorses selfishness, but not foolishness. The three

A plethora of reasons exist as to why a certain sport might signal importance to a state, but in Indiana,
the sport happens to standout on a whole different level. Current Southeast Dubois Superintendent,
Rick Allen, commented on why Indiana high school basketball remains superior saying, One reason
Indiana high school basketball is such a standout of a sport in Indiana is because of the community
support behind the team (Allen 2). The era of basketball between 1911 present remains crucial today
not only for the big schools gyms in Indiana, but also for small towns gyms such as Huntingburg,

Ancient Chinese Ink Techniques in the 21st Century.
As the paint brush dips into the paint and watching the brush the brush form perfect lines, knowing
that the art that is being created is what one is expressing. Art and design has been influencing our
lives since the dawn of the ages. Art has been created on cave walls, has been formed in architecture,
and continues to grow and expand. Art is very beautiful, but also is a matter of expression. Art can
mean many things such as love, concern, anger, desire, and politics. Two Chinese born ink artists by
the name of Zhang Daqain, and Hua Tunan have become well known traditional Chinese ink artists.
More known for his landscape designs, Zhang Daqain has incorporated splashes and pops of color in
these traditional looking drawings. Through the decades, other artists have learned traditional ink
drawings but have also developed other artistic ways to express who they are. For example, one artist,
Hua Tunan, is a young artist who has experimented with graffiti and in his favor, was a success. Both
artists are advocates for nature being their primary subjects. From mountainous ranges to flowers, to
detailed portraits of animals, these paintings bring awareness to people about the beauty on our planet.
One of Zhang s work from Art of Asian Landscapes contains bold colors just like in Hua Tunan s art
like his ink splattered tiger. Zhang Daqain and Hua tunan are both amazing artists that have created

Mesopotamia. From everything I have researched, the Sumerians had a different way of life, they
hunted prey, lived in caves or huts, provided their own type of language among themselves and had a
very religious lifestyle. The Sumerians was so religious they build temples that best suited their
religious interests, their main temples was man made holy mountain that they called ziggurats, their
they put god figures that they would hold and worship; the figures had huge eyes with the praying
hand gestures. The Sumerians had a different religious lifestyle than most, but are quite interesting

6. Zoroastrianism s Influence On The Formation Of Christianity
Zoroastrianism was a huge influence on the formation of Christianity. There are multiple links
between the two religions while Zoroastrianism pre dates Christianity by hundreds of years. The
evidence found through archaeological discovery and from the beliefs of present day Zoroastrianists
points to one conclusion: that although Christianity and Zoroastrianism are seen as two very different
religions, their cosmologies are so intertwined that is hard to tell which came first until looking at the
physical evidence. The core beliefs are similar and how each religion predicts what will happen at the
end of time are, as well. For some Christians, it hard to look at the evidence without it shaking their
beliefs, but by taking an outsider s perspective, one can begin see that religions are evolving
throughout the millennia. Three main topics arise when comparing the two religions: the creation
story, the story of the savior, and the revelation story. The relationships between these two religions
shows that religions may not only be divinely inspired, but also inspired from past religions. This
gives people the idea that faith evolves through the ages to better suit the current culture or state of
society.
Creation is seen in Christianity as a sacred story that explains not how, but why people exist in this
universe. Depending on the sect of Christianity, it is taken literally, or it is seen as a story that teaches
the lesson of their god s great love for mankind. Christians

Introduction
Since the development of the EMTALAAct in 1986, any individual which presents to the emergency
department, must be accessed and triaged by qualified medical personnel. (www.cms.gov) Individuals
are aware that if they present to the emergency department, regardless if it is for just a tooth ache or a
major illness like a heart attack, they will have to be treated. This mandate does not extend to private
physician offices, however, which creates an incentive for those without the means to pay for care to

(Mann, 2014, p.2) These strategies include: broadening access to primary care services; focus on
individuals who frequently utilize the emergency department (super utilizers); and targeting the needs
of individuals with behavioral health problems. (Mann, 2014, pp 2 4) Many resources and processes
have been implemented in order to help decrease inappropriate emergency department visits. This
paper is going to demonstrate some resources and processes that are in place to help individuals obtain
health care at the appropriate health care setting.
Body When focusing on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Systems strategies for improvement
with unnecessary emergency room visits, a major key area is accessibility to health care at the
appropriate health care setting. For many years, there has been the perception that the emergency
department is the only place for someone who is uninsured or underinsured can go to receive the
needed and appropriate health care, and in some situations that may be the case. (Rhodes et al, 2013,
p.394) Due to the decreases in reimbursements for the publicly funded, more and more physicians are
opting out to treating these patients, thus leading to an increase in emergency department utilization.
According to a study conducted by Rhodes, Bisgaier, Lawson, Soglen, Krug, and Haitsma, this is

9. William Goldman s The Princess Bride
In the story The Princess Bride we read of action and adventure, and if you have watched the movie
you have a very romantic view of the tale. Before I read the book that was my view, which after
reading the book, I found to be incomplete. Fortunately, I have read the book and my view of this
adventure has changed from a less romantic one to a more realist thought. I believe that what William
Goldman was trying to tell us, in his book version of the story, is that life is made up of reality,
sprinkled with what I would call romanticism of the realist. What I mean by this is that even realists
must have a desire to believe in Twoo wuv. In the end what we find is that even though we have our
romantic notions, life happens and life is what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Morgenstern. We first find him as a young boy who was not interested in anything, other than
baseball, and wishing that his teacher was actually his mother. So wrapped up in this he even
fantasizes that one day his father would come clean and declare his teacher as being his real mother.
His young character self was not involved in much and his teacher described him as being a late
bloomer even though he had no idea what that meant. We see in this part of the book that his life was
full of dreams, things he hoped for and wished for.
Shortly after this we find him with pneumonia, unable to go to school and confined to his bed. One
day he is surprised to see his dad come into his room with a book and without announcing what he is
doing, begins by reading the title of the first chapter The Bride. This is the point in his life where
everything changed for him. His future career as a writer is credited in this simple act of his father
reading the story to him. He went from only caring about sports and games to not being able to get
enough from books. This particular book he describes as the single best thing that happened to me
(sorry about that, Helen; Helen is my wife, the hot shot child psychiatrist). Here we once again see
realism show through. You can see here that he was drawn to a book with true love, which in his own
life did not exist. I think we see here the reality in our desire to want to be inspired

comics are one of the more accessible types of comics, since they are generally free and can be read
entirely online, and they usually take the same form paper comics have taken for years: images
arranged in a grid on one standard size page. While this layout of comics is perfectly fine and has been

traditional comic format, becoming a truly multi media experience spanning the entire internet and

Besides just still images, Hussie s comic is filled with colorful animations in many of its panels, along
with videos and interactive games accompanied by a wide array of music. In fact, over 26 albums total

other artists had likely attempted it in some way, no other comic had had such a large success with,
and in turn had such a wide influence on the web comic community. Beyond just the images on the
page, Hussie also manipulates webpages themselves, going as far as to completely change the color
and format of the page to manipulate the narrative mechanic and add to the story, as shown in the

13. The Importance Of A Time For A Person s Day
There are many tasks and responsibilities that can arise in a person s day. In particular, juggling
family, work, and school which is a very difficult and tiring task. Being disorganized can lead to a
chaotic and stressful day. Using a time chart is useful and beneficial it can help you stay organized and
keep daily activities more manageable. The first step to balancing my studies and family is to use a
time chart. The time chart helps to keep my tasks in order and completed on time. It is helpful in
reminding me about upcoming appointments whether it is at school or work, not to mention the other
unexpected events that can also happen to make you forget what you were doing. Most of all, my time
chart helps me look forward to taking breaks that I longed for after a long day s work. Even with a
huge workload a time chart can help keep your to do list up to date, it helps you concentrate on one
task at a time, and it helps you prioritize what needs to be done first. It is important to schedule your
day the night before or when first arising. The first step I take to scheduling is to writing down my
daily duties. Then find out what appointment I have pending. Next, I rearrange and organize to fit my
schedule. This will keep duties in order and also help me find what is the most important daily
activities. Do not forget to review the chart after completion; this is very crucial. This time chart lays

Introduction
Currently, the US fiscal debt rests at nearly $14 trillion making it the world s largest debtor. In fact, it
is competing with the European Union, which is just a union of nearly 28 nations (Blanchard et al,
2010). The financial experts have cited the reason being most countries trusting the dollar for its store
of value. As a result, more countries are saving their money in from of dollars leading to more capital
inflow. The capital inflow will create a burden to the US making the interest rates to increase in the
long run (Blanchard et al, 2010). More specifically, this paper looks at the causes leading to the fiscal
debt that includes increased expenditures, capital inflow, borrowing from foreigners as well as

As a result, fewer families will be ready to purchase a home thereby making most of them to stay in
rental places because of the high interest rates on mortgages. Most of them wishing to start a business
using loans will fail to do so because of the rising interest rates on the loans.
The piling US debt led to the government taking a huge sum of funds from the Social Security Trust
Fund to finance the deficit. However, the money was supposed to pay the Baby Boomers during their
retirement period. Unfortunately, the chances of repaying the loan are slim and as a result the
government will have to increase taxes to raise the amount that will pay the Baby Boomers when they
retire (Crotty, 2012).
As time progresses, the value of the dollar will decline. As a result, its value as a store of value will
also depreciate making more countries to resort to another currency that might have such a value.
Currently, the currency that has such a value is the Euro instead. More likely, most nations will result
in the world governments going for the Euro as a form of reserve value (Crotty, 2012).

17. The Character Analysis Of Rihanna s Music Video
Music videos bring songs to life through its storylines and captivating visuals. They illustrate the
song`s lyrics and can sometimes introduce a new perception to the meaning of the song. In this short
film like music video, the storyline overpowers the song and intensifies its theme and tone. The
suspense and bold images made it impossible to look away from the screen. Its characters
demonstrated that people seek revenge for the things they find valuable to maintain or gain power. The
title and the most repeated phrase in the song does not directly correspond to the song`s message.
Rihanna used the scenario of someone owing her money to signify power and revenge. As one can see
from all of the insane scenes in the video, that it is about going after what you want no matter what.
The main character was completely focused on getting her money back so much that everything else
was irrelevant. The steps she took including kidnapping and torturing the banker s wife were solely for
revenge on the banker, because the wife is not involved in the situation. Her actions were dangerous,
however in Rihanna`s character`s perspective, these steps were trivial because taking back what was
her was more important. If we take away the actual context of the plot, this music video is about a
woman taking control over a difficult situation. Through the entire video, Rihanna is portrayed as
someone with power and authority. This boss like persona is shown through her having two sidekicks,

It was Senior year, a year that is believed to be filled with excitement and simplicity. For many high

Processes of Correctional Environments:
Correctional facilities play an integral role in the criminal justice system as many individuals who are
convicted of offenses are normally placed on probation rather than being sent to prison. In other cases,
convicted criminals who have served their jail terms are usually released on parole. In addition to
meeting other requirements, criminals are required to stay out of trouble during parole and probation
periods. In order to prevent offenders from committing new offenses; probation, parole, and
correctional treatments officers and specialists are involved in supervision of these criminals.
Probation officers are involved in supervising criminals placed on probation rather than prison while
parole officers supervise those who have been released from prison. On the other hand, correctional
treatment specialists counsel criminals and develop rehabilitation plans for them to follow upon their
release from prison or parole.
Processes of Jails, Prisons, Probation, and Parole: As part of accomplishing their mandates, probation
and parole officers usually meet the offenders through personal contact with them and their families.
These officers meet with the criminals in their homes and employment places for therapy sessions and
also seek help from community organizations and other necessary institutions and groups. In some
cases, parole and probation processes involve the requirement for the offenders to wear electronic

22. Comparative Textual Analysis of Two Articles
The key to being able to differentiate one newspaper from another is often, if not always, the way the
latter presents its news, both aesthetically and stylistically. These aspects have gradually divided
newspapers into two distinct categories: broadsheets and tabloids. The former being a more neutral
and respected type and the latter a newspaper for more or less entertainment purposes only. This can
be well observed in two specific articles that both report on political campaigns.
The first one, an extract from The New Vision, a pro government Ugandan publication, recounts
presidential candidate Paddy Bitama s arrival to the official nomination as an election candidate. The
article vaguely follows Bitama („of Amarula Family an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The article also uses a lot of local expressions such as „bodaboda , a word which has been given the
meaning of a bicycle taxi .
The second article however, recounts the story of Nixon s involvement in a bugging scandal that
eventually led to his resignation as U.S. president. Another basic aspect that differentiates this
newspaper article from the Ugandan one is, first of all, that it is not as recent (seeing as the latter was
published in 2010 and the former in 1972) and seems to be a bit more serious and longer in length.
Nonetheless, this article, entitled „GOP security aide among 5 arrested in bugging affair still has some
emotive and vague language: „We deplore action of this kind in or our of politics and „the mystery
deepens , along with a few euphemisms such as „the bugging incident . From this one will be able to
conclude that even this article is not completely un biased. In fact, it is, additionally, rather informal.
This is especially obvious when the journalists decide to use GOP, a nickname for the Republican
Party and an abbreviation of „Grand Old Party , instead of its official name.
Finally, the short paragraphs that make the article a whole are crowded with various quotes, and even
mention the rather irrelevant age of a certain CIA employee James W. McCord. Even though these
aspects are, as

23. Negative Effects On Animal Pollution
has an extremely negative impact on many animals. Water polluted with different chemicals can cause
a decline of population in some species; On the other hand water polluted with nutrients can lead to
huge growth of toxic algae which when eaten by other animals may cause serious diseases and death
to these animals. Persistent organic pollutants contains the growth of fish and wipe out their breed.
Chemical runoff from farms run into oceans, seas, lakes and rivers. Littering can also lead to death of
many animals because of toxic substances in trash, such as oil, plastic, detergents and pesticides (How
Pollution Affect Animals). Oil spills affect marine animals and sea birds. The oil makes the water
harder to swim through, making the animals exhausted, and also making it harder for it to breathe
(Levete 12). Oil spills damages the growth of sea birds (Effects of Pollution on People...). Animals can
also die by getting themselves entangled in one of the many litter items dumped in the water. Plastic
waste can cause dangers to animals. Around one hundred million tons of plastic is produced each year,
ten percent ends up in the sea. A million sea birds and mammals are killed each year by plastic waste
(5 Ways Water Pollution is Killing Animals). Plastic bags are killing the animals in the water. The
bags can suffocate or choke the animal, by getting caught around it s body (Levete 12). Noise

The next scholar to contribute was Allport. Allport stated that it is very unlikely that people just
possessed one personality characteristic (Fleming, 2006). He claimed that personality exists in a
psychological matrix meaning within a person, that people possessed traits which can be categorized
into levels, which in turn allows there to be comparison among different individuals (Liebert, R. M.
Spiegler, M. D., 1970, 117). Allport also recognized that it is important to understand individuals
within themselves, and that it is necessary to recognize some characteristics are not
universal/transferable among individuals (Liebert, R. M. Spiegler, M. D., 1970). To list the all the
contributions Allport made to the academic world would be too much, in short, he among other
scholars introduced an extensive list of adjectives that were descriptive of individual behaviours
(Fleming, 2006). Lacking necessary agreement among classifications and definitions of the many
personality traits, the further development of personality theories in the 1960 s was brought to halt.
Resuming development, Cattell claimed there to be too many factors and characteristics in need of
analysis (Liebert, R. M. Spiegler, M. D., 1970). He paved the way by developing factor analytical
methods using multivariate trials (Liebert, R. M. Spiegler, M. D., 1970). Cattell was among the
academics that developed the sixteen factor personality test (Fleming, 2006). Building upon Cattell,

26. Julio Cortázar Push The Boundaries Of Reality And Reality
The concept of unreality can be defined as something that is unreal, invalid, imaginary, or illusory:
(Dictionary.com). At one time or another we have all fantasized about different things. However, have
any of us ever attempted to incorporate those fantasies into the real world? The following paper will
attempt to analyse how narratives of Julio Cortázar push the boundaries of reality and unreality. This
essay will focus on the works of Cortázar and will particularly focus on two of his stories Las babas
del diablo and Queremos tanto a Glenda. It will discuss how these narratives tests the boundaries of
unreality and reality and will analyse Cortázars ability to make his readers question what is real and
what is not. This essay will focus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s fair to say that both narratives show how Cortázar tests the boundaries of unreality and reality.
However, Cortázar took alternative approaches in order to present this in the respective stories. In the
case of Las babas del diablo, Cortázar introduced a first and third person narration into the story. The
introduction of a third person narrator highlighted the inner turmoil that Michel was experiencing, thus
forcing the reader to question his reliability as a narrator. As readers we were unable to trust Michel s
version of events yet, we were still unable to completely disregard it as it was clear he had a traumatic
experience in relation to the photograph. This is how Cortázar was able to test the boundaries of
unreality and reality, by leaving his readers in a state of utter confusion. In a completely different, but
equally effective way, Cortázar also expertly tested the boundaries of unreality and reality in
Queremos tanto a Glenda. Unlike Las babas del diablo there was no clever use of two different
narrations in order to confuse the reader. Instead Cortázar presented us with a very real idea (an
appreciation for a celebrity) and exaggerated it to massive proportions. Although the events from
Queremos tanto a Glenda seem unlikely to happen in the real world, there is a

Fact or Fiction?

PHIL 2003 013
Usually at least once in a lifetime a person will question whether a dream was reality or not. It is rare
to think I am just dreaming in a dream. In the 1990s movie Total Recall the director, Paul Verhoeven,
attempts to illustrate the puzzling question of what is reality and what is not? With Arnold
Schwarzenegger in this futuristic flick, the director cleverly confuses the audience about what is real
in the movie, making one doubt each previous scene. Total Recall begins with the main character,
Douglas Quaid, on a mission to decipher a reoccurring dream that takes place in Mars. His curiosity

His belief in God even affected his theories on reality. One of his theories was that he was being
deceived by a conniving and mischievous demon that was hell bent on distorting his reality. The
demon could be comparable to the evil dictator and the memory replacing machine in Total Recall.
Despite the evil demon, Descartes did manage to reveal one very true thing and that is that he must
exist if he truly is being deceived by the evil demon because he needs to exist in order to be deceived.
He later summarizes this into his famous phrase I think, therefore, I am. (Descartes 136). The second
philosopher that analyses the problem of what is reality and what is not in the Introduction to
Philosophy textbook is Christopher Grau. Grau, in his essay, expands on Descartes idea of the evil
demon by basing it off of The Matrix with his theory, The Brain in a Vat Theory. The theory is just like
it sounds. Just like in Total Recall, an extremely intelligent device has the ability to give humans and
gives them a false reality of a life. What Grau is purposing is that we, as people, could quite possibly
be hooked up to a super computer and given false memories and experiences as well. In conclusion,

If you take a close look at this area, you ll find many other animal species and habitats that will leave
you speechless wondering how they could survive in a habitat. In fact, in the Pine Barrens, there is a
total of 39 species of mammals, 299 birds, 59 reptiles, and 91 fish that have been spotted. All of these
animals contribute to the ecosystem by participating in the food chain, and even some individual
animals help us as well. Bees suck in a type of liquid called nectar from a flower blossom, and store it
in what s known as the honey stomach, which differs from their food stomach. Once they have a full
load, they bring it back to their hive. Next time when you see a bee flying around you, or near a
flower, don t swat at it. Instead, watch and see how it collects the pollen we use for honey. Worms are
another example of animals that can be found in the Pine Barrens that helps the ecosystem as well.
They help aerate (which means to allow air into) the soil so that the roots of plants can have access to
better oxygen that they need in order to survive. All around you in the Pine Barrens, you see tons of
trees. You can thank a couple forgetful squirrels for those. Each year, these squirrels carelessly drop
acorns or stash their supply throughout yards and forests of the Pine Barrens ecosystem. Eventually,
those seeds will sprout into a tree that will continue to grow and adapt to be part of the ecosystem over
time. Nature relies on this process from squirrels to continuously drop and stash more acorns to keep
the growth of trees continuing, since the acorns can´t move on their own to be

It also shows the inner mystery of women that people cannot see or understand. In the first stanza
Pretty women under where my secret lies, she talks about all women accepting and loving themselves

we see in the media is describing as the idea image. This image of a perfect woman is not real. In

Fatalism is the belief that all events are predetermined, therefore they are inevitable. Today, society s

excellent examples of how fate could have taken control of the scenarios in the movies, but did not
because nowadays, everyone makes their own paths. Fate does not exist, the power for us to make our
own decisions does. In the movie Taken, starring Liam Neeson, Liam is faced with an objection that
he must overcome in order to salvage his daughter Kim. This movie is not considered to have a
fatalistic opinion. This is because human traffickers abducted Kim, and she was supposed to end up
being murdered. Due to her dad being a retired CIA agent, he was able to rescue her and defeat the
traffickers in the process. Remarkably it was Kims destiny to die, and Liam proved else wise by

25/2016 I remember drowning somehow (I think by a lake or river or something) and eventually

through a vortex. A very intense vortex, it felt like I was going at least 100 mph. The scenery looked

however, and then my out of body experience occurred (OBERF, 2016). . Out of body experiences are
a process that focuses on the feeling of floating outside one s body, and some cases, the feeling of
perceiving one s physical body as if from a place outside one s body (Brugger Mohr, 2009, p. 137).
Out of body experiences may refer to astral projections or near death experiences. Astral projections
refer to a person s conscious detachment from one s physical body that can travel or exist outside of
the body, these individual who experience such phenomena often are aware of their surroundings and

In almost any quantitative field of research (as well as in applied science), the researcher (or, e.g.,

to make interpolations or extrapolations; the engineer may be interested in values between expensive

cases, the parameters ( removed HTML ) themselves ( removed HTML ) can be the primary interest.

Bayesian view, in which the parameters of the fitting function can have a prior distribution (prior to

an idea about some of the parameters before observing the data (see Sec. ( removed HTML ) I A (

Part I
To start a discussion a cultural competence in the field of law and within the courtroom, it s important
to establish the definition of culture in clarity. Culture is a dynamic value system of learned elements,
with assumptions, conventions, beliefs and rules permitting members of a group to relate to each other
and to the world, to communicate and to develop their creative potential. (Obialo) Religion, food,
language, customs, unspoken values and beliefs, clothing and other outward expressions make up a
group s culture. There are four key components within cultural competence. Those four key
components include awareness of your own cultural worldview; your attitude toward differences in
cultures; your knowledge of different practices and worldviews culturally; and your communication
skills cross culturally. For example, take a case of divorce and child custody involving an Indian
couple. The facts exemplified how a judge s lack of knowledge to the culture and practices of the
individuals could result in an inaccurate conclusion. In this case, the husband testifies that his wife
was hysterical and claimed that she worshiped blocks of blood and practiced voodoo. His testimony
casted common Hindu practices in an unfavorable light. This was his scheme to make the courts

But when a group of radical evangelicals called for immediate abolition of slavery, they made the
national government face the issue of slavery, an issue it had been trying very hard to side step. In
response, the Democrats prevented any abolitionist mail from reaching the South. Sometimes, they
would not even respond to anti slavery petitions that were sent to them. At this moment, former
President Adams (an opponent to President Andrew Jackson) chose to openly oppose slavery. But
already, most southerners saw what the Democrats wanted them to see: that their surest guarantee of
safety within the Union was a disciplined Democratic Party that avoided sectional arguments. The
Democrats said that a party that united northern and southern rights into a states rights, limited
government majority could guarantee states rights within the Union. This statement answered the
questions that arose during the Missouri debates: how do you protect the slave holding South within
the federal Union. Martin Van Buren believed the alternative to this agenda, the isolation of the
slaveholding south, would lead to moral danger of the republic. Though said to be racists the
Democrats handled the slave situation in a way that made the south understand their plan. Views on

the north and south. President Jackson hated the bank and believed it was

41. Drawing Of Colorado River And The Grand Canyon
This piece was inspired by a photograph that I took when I hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon
with my dad and my sister. This is a drawing of the Colorado River and the Grand Canyon, hence the
name Canyon and Colorado. I used the history of drawing landscapes to create this piece; I wanted to
draw the Grand Canyon s base with the Colorado not at the rim. When people started to explore
America, they had to bring back the king drawings, sketches, objects, and/or descriptions from their
exploration. Usually, they would enhance their picture or description more than it really was, so that
king would be excited and happy for what they found, and so they would be paid to go back and
explore more. I wanted to replicate what explorers

International Roughness Index (IRI) Introduction
The international roughness index (IRI) was developed by the World Bank in the 1980s (UMTRI,
1998). IRI is used to define a characteristic of the longitudinal profile of a traveled wheel track and
constitutes a standardized roughness measurement. The IRI is based on the average rectified slope
(ARS), which is a filtered ratio of a standard vehicle s accumulated suspension motion (in mm, inches,
etc.) divided by the distance traveled by the vehicle during the measurement (km, mi, etc.). Figure
bellow shows the IRI scale.
Next picture shows the relation of pavement serviceability related to time and IRI.

43. General Motors Case
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY General Motors is primarily engaged in automotive production and
marketing and financing and insurance operations. GM designs, manufactures, and markets vehicles
worldwide, have its largest operating presence in North America. The core competence of General
Motors is innovation. This is the driving force behind its $190 above turnover. General Motors has
been utilizing innovation in service ad technology to secure itself a dominant position in the
automobile industry, since 1908. The main problems faced by General motors are declining U.S.
automobile market share, high pension costs, rising fuel prices, lack of differentiated products,
inability to generate revenues from its core activity (manufacture of cars), over ... Show more content

2. General Motors pension fund obligations and health care obligations appear to threaten the future of
the company. Majority of General Motors U.S. employees are members of the United Auto Worker
(UAW) Union, which ensures health insurance for its members by entering into contractual
agreements with employers. The United Auto Workers officers and GM s senior managers decided
decades ago to agree to high pension and health benefits in exchange for reduced increases in wages.
Health care benefits are tax free income for workers. Even retired workers are covered. It seemed like
a low risk deal for GM. Nobody thought about the price effects on health care of Medicare. The health
care market (15% of the U.S. GDP), like all markets, is a giant auction. If bidders get their hands on
more money, they will bid up prices. All over America, workers are bidding health care prices. So are
retirees. General Motors is therefore required to incur heavy expenditure on health insurance for its
U.S. employees. Healthcare costs have increased by double digit in the past decade and now represent
approximately $1,500 of the cost of each vehicle produced, there is more health care than steel in a
GM vehicle s price tag .This is one of the main reasons it lost $1 billion in the first quarter of 2005.
Then there are GM s retirees: Health care for retirees and their families there are 2.6 of them for every
active worker is 69 percent of GM s

44. The Secret Life Of Bees Literary Analysis
The fictional novels The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd and The Chosen by Chaim Potok are
coming of age stories about young protagonists. The Secret Life of Bees depicts the life of Lily Owens
as she runs away from her abusive father, T. Ray, with her black caregiver, Rosaleen. Lily is seeking a
connection to her dead mother while establishing new relationships in a new town called Tiburon, SC.
Similarly, The Chosen portrays the journey of Danny Saunders as he breaks away from the path paved
for him while coping with the lack of a father son relationship. Within both novels, The Secret Life of
Bees and The Chosen , the lack of parental figures in both Lily and Danny s lives causes both
protagonists to seek others to fill in these positions as seen when Lily relies on Rosaleen, the Black
Madonna, and the Boatwright sisters and Danny seeks support from Reuven s family. ... Show more

Because of this, Lily needs someone to guide her as she is growing up. The only person Lily could
talk to about her life, especially personal things, was her Black caregiver, Rosaleen. This was Lily s
first motherly figure besides her own mother. After Lily ventured out to Tiburon, SC, she established
strong relationships with August, May, and June Boatwright. These women took Lily in and provide
many things for her, but August Boatwright has supported Lily the most since they first met. She helps
to guide Lily as another motherly figure in her life. As well as supplying for Lily, the Boatwright
sisters introduced The Black Madonna to Lily. After days of learning the importance of The Black

Gladding s begins with Ezekiel s encounter and sharing of the news of the Temple and Jerusalem is
described. The tension is heavy for the crowd does know that hearing the stories of their failing kings
brings much anger and sadness. Rehoboam and his advisors wickedness is introduced to the crowd,
and the crowd responds with distaste, since Rehoboam acted more like the official in Egypt.
Rehoboam was credited by the old man for listening to the prophet that informed him to not fight
Jeroboam and the northern tribes. Abijam, Rehoboam s son, followed his father s wicked ways by
practicing evil activities that the surrounding cultures committed. The old man then reminds the crowd

The book of Lamentations is deconstructed by characteristics and contents. The two main
characteristics of the book are the dirge rhythm and placement of certain stresses. The contents of
Lamentations include Jerusalem (the abandoned widow), the punishment of Jerusalem, a personal
lament, advice about God s righteousness and mercy, a prayer for help, siege conditions, and the
request of restoration. The next section in chapter nine is about the lives of the survivors. Some of the
survivors remained in Judah, moved to egypt, and were held in captivity in Babylon. Those in
Babylon began to use Aramaic, instead of Hebrew. The fear of losing the traditions and stories of the
Israelites inspired writers to record documentation of the Israelites traditions and stories. Once
Nebuchadnezzar passed on, Babylon slowly perished. Nabonidus fled Babylon, thus allowing Cyrus to
move in without any resistance. Cyrus allowed those in exile to return to their former homes, and
authorized the reconstruction of the Temple. Tullock then discusses Ezra and Nehemiah. Ezra was a
priest that was known for bringing people back to Jerusalem and reforming some of the old practices.
These include the problem with foreign wives and renewing of the covenant. Nehemiah , a builder,
was chosen as a governor for the province of Yehud. He strove to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem, free
any slaves, and to

47. The Pros And Cons Of Provider Contracts
Provider contracting occurs when legal contracts are developed in order to determine the terms and
agreements between Managed Care Organizations (MCOs), clinical providers and or healthcare
professionals, i.e. Primary care physicians (PCPs). A contract is defined as an agreement between
private parties creating mutual obligations enforceable by law. The basic elements required for the
agreement to be a legally enforceable contract are: mutual assent, expressed by a valid offer and
acceptance; adequate consideration; capacity; and legality. (Staff, 2017). These negotiations can have
a significant impact on the outcome, functions and delivery of healthcare services, and provisions can
directly affect payment, organization, practices and procedures, confidential records and clinical
decision making ( Managed Care Contracts Key Provisions for Providers , 2017). Some examples of
standard negotiation terms include pre certification requirements, client referrals, patient data provided
to the MCO, geographic and demographic limitations and profiles, claim submissions, provider panels
and payment procedures. Once all terms have been negotiated, a contract has been created. According
to Kongstvedt (2013), a contract should consist of seen components which include: the title, caption,
transition, recitals, definitions, closing or testimonium, and appended documents or exhibits. The title
should briefly state the overall purpose and be placed at the head of the document, so that it

49. Application And Investigation Of Control Framework...
This thesis deals with the configuration and investigation of control framework structures for electric
drives furnished with changeless magnet synchronous machines (PMSM) in car application. With the
expanding prominence of multi level inverters, the opportunity to get better of the execution of
voltage source inverters has persistently been tried for different applications. The fast improvement of
high exchanging recurrence power gadgets in the previous decade leads towards more extensive use of
voltage source inverters in AC power era. In this way, this prompts the requirement for a regulation
method with less aggregate symphonious bending, less exchanging misfortunes, and more extensive
direct balance range. The present theory highlights the examination of the customary two level
inverter and the three level diode cinched inverters for the application in car industry. The proposition
highlights the DC connection adjusting control which is the most ordinarily confronted issue in the
event of a three level diode braced inverter, with no extra circuit. Changes of the regulation strategies
for the acknowledgment of the DC connection adjusting control have been proposed. Correlation of
the aggregate symphonious bending of the line to line voltages at the yields of the two and three level
inverters has been exhibited for PWM, SVPWM CB SVPWM methods. The postulation likewise
manages the control of the Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor drive utilizing Field Oriented

50. Othello’s Diversity of Imagery Essay
Othello s Diversity of Imagery
The diverse imagery found in Shakespeare s drama Othello represents a world all by itself. And this
world of imagery contributes to the prevailing sentiment of pain and suffering and unpleasantness.
There is no shortage of imagery in the play; this is for certain. Critic Caroline Spurgeon in
Shakespeare s Imagery and What it Tells Us sorts through the plethora of imagery in the play:
The main image in Othello is that of animals in action, preying upon one another, mischievous,
lascivious, cruel or suffering, and through these, the general sense of pain and unpleasantness is much
increased and kept constantly before us. More than half the animal images in the play are ... Show

The peculiar pain of sexual jealousy is deeply involved with the excremental aspect of the sexual
organs, and the emotion in betrayal in a supremely intimate trust is involved with agonizing
associations of filth and animality. (1200)
Just how strong a force is the imagery in this drama? Is it more powerful than the chorus in ancient
Greek tragedy? H. S. Wilson in his book of literary criticism, On the Design of Shakespearean
Tragedy, discusses the influence of the imagery of the play:
It has indeed been suggested that the logic of events in the play and of Othello s relation to them
implies Othello s damnation, and that the implication is pressed home with particular power in the
imagery. This last amounts to interpreting the suggestions of the imagery as a means of comment by
the author the analogy would be the choruses of Greek tragedy. It is true that the play contains many
references to heaven and hell and devils. as Wilson Knight has pointed out. But Mr. Knight has wisely
refrained from drawing the conclusion that Shakespeare means thus to comment upon Othello s
ultimate fate. (66)
