Evaluation Of The 10 Essential Public Health Services
This paper is about the evaluation of the 10 essential Public Health Services and how they can be
helpful in the prevention of HIV in communities across the nation. In addition, the paper depicts how
the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) has been able to incorporate the 10 essential public
health services in its fight against HIV disease. The paper will discuss the assessment of the HIV
disease situation in Chicago neighborhoods; policy development by the Chicago Department of Public
Health and the assurance that solutions to priority problems are based on scientific evidence.
Furthermore, the interconnection of the various essential public health service in the prevention and
treatment of HIV and the support the department has for the families of their resident that are afflicted
with HIV virus will be discussed. Finally, an inferred conclusion will be drawn from my research
about the efficiency of the Chicago Department of Public Health and their incorporation of the 10
essential public health functions in their services to those HIV positive residents in the city of
Chicago.
According to the CDC (2015), more than one million people are living with HIV in the United States,
and more than 50,000 become newly infected each year. Unfortunately, one in five Americans living
with HIV are unaware of their infection. I believe using the strategy which stresses the use of the 10
essential services of public health will help reduce the incidence of HIV in our

Using Images And Image Optimization
It s said that a picture is equal to 1,000 words. However, in most discussions of SEO best practices,
the topic of image optimization is a bit of an afterthought. Many of today s best practice guides for
image optimization remain very similar to what an aspiring SEO might have read a decade ago. In
recent years, the emergence of social media, the emphasis placed on page speed optimization, and the
use of structured data and rich snippets have changed the game a bit. Looking ahead to the future,
SEO practitioners and business owners may need to entirely re think how they approach using images
and image optimization. But before breaking down the past, present and future of SEO for images, it s
worth looking at why this subject is an important one, and perhaps far more critical for some
industries than they may realize. Why Image Optimization Matters Businesses like accounting
software companies or psychotherapists probably place a limited emphasis of image results in search
engines. Their offerings are not highly visual, and text is a good medium for conveying their
messages. Alternatively, businesses like a jewelers selling cufflinks, or a local businesses specializing
in custom signage must be very aware of their presence in the image results of Google, Yahoo, and
Bing. If they aren t, they re missing a lot of potential market share. With product offerings that are
largely in demand based upon their visual appeal, a strong organic presence in the image results can
mean

The R V. Dudley And Stephens Case Essay
The R v. Dudley and Stephens case occurred in 1884. In May of that year, four men left Southampton,
England for Australia on the Mignonette, a private sailing yacht. These men were Captain Thomas
Dudley (31), mate Edward Stephens (36), seaman Edmond Brooks (38), and cabin boy Richard Parker
(17). While crossing the South Atlantic near the Cape of Good Hope in July, bad weather struck the
yacht and it sunk. The men managed to escape into the lifeboat, and two one pound tins of turnips
were the only food they subsisted on for four days. They caught a small turtle on the fourth day that
lasted eight days, and were without food for another eight days after. The only fresh water they had
was the rain that came from time to time. On the sixteenth day of drifting Richard Parker became ill
from drinking seawater. On the eighteenth day Dudley and Stephens approached Brooks with the idea
that they should sacrifice one person to save the rest. Brooks dissented, and they did not consult
Parker as he was ill. On July 24th Dudley and Stephens reasoned with Brooks, saying that since they
had families to take care of it was most logical to kill the boy and save themselves. They proposed that
if there were no vessels in sight the next day they would kill Parker. As there were no vessels, Dudley
killed Parker by slitting his throat; the boy was so ill he did not resist. Brooks dissented until Parker s
death, but also fed on the blood and flesh of Parker with the two accused for four days.

Tillandsia Air Plant Lab Report
Introduction This experiment will explore which of three air plant mounting materials leads to the
most growth within Tillandsia Ionantha Fuego, a type of air plant. Tillandsia improve the quality of
the air around it. Knowing which method of growing them is the quickest can help purify air in the
fastest manner possible, which can help people whose homes have poor air quality. While it does not
have an extremely large significance, it can be a small step towards having fresher air in people s
homes. The independent variable is the type of material the Tillandsia were mounted on. The types are
a cup of stones and wood, with the suspended plants being the control. There were three plants in each
material, totalling to nine plants altogether. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since many of the plants followed this pattern, the trend between their mount and growth will be
calculated using negative numbers for the plants that went down in weight. The plants that were
grown in wood s average growth in weight was 0.363 grams and their growth in leaf length was 0.05
centimeters. For the plants grown in stones, the average growth in weight was approximately 0.327
grams while the average growth in leaf length was 0 centimeters. Lastly, the average weight growth
for the control group in a plant hanger was 0.202 grams and their leaf growth was 0 centimeters.
Plants 3 (grown in wood) and 4 (grown in stones) exhibited the largest decrease in weight, losing
0.633 and .607 grams from the first to 36th day. The plants with the least decrease in weight were
plants 5 (grown in stones) and 7 (control group), with a loss of 0.145 grams and 0.139 centimeters,
respectively. Only three plants increased in their leaf length; plants 1 (grown in wood), 6 (grown in
stones), and 7 (control group). Both plants 1 and 6 increases in height by 0.1 centimeters, while plant
7 increased by 0.2

Welfare Reform Pros And Cons
The Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 (PRWORA) was one
of the biggest legislation signed by Bill Clinton that focused on welfare. The main goals of this law
were to lessen the dependency on federal government welfare while increasing employment and
reducing poverty.
The program established a 5 year lifetime time limit for welfare benefits. Because the welfare program
was focused on increasing employment while decreasing poverty, Temporary Assistance for Needy
Families, TANF, was initiated. This program is a block grant that provides each state with a fixed
amount of money as long as the state meets certain conditions. PWRWORA restriction eligibility for

According to statistics, employment in never married mothers increased nearly 50%, single mothers
who HS dropouts increased by 2/3, young single mothers nearly doubled (Karger et al., 2007). But the
problem is, are these jobs sufficient enough to get these people out of poverty? There are issues with
employment of individuals. These issues include a lack of work experience and education as well as
poor health (Urban Institute, 2014). Needing to work also impacts parent(s) and their duties for their
children because of long hours, stressful commutes, ad stressful working conditions. These types of
stress lead kids to take on the responsibilities of their parents to take care of their younger siblings
(Boscia, 2010). Third, those who support welfare reform say that this legislation successfully
decreased poverty. Statistics do show that between 1994 2004, overall poverty rate dropped from
14.5% to 12.7% and child poverty dropped from 21.8% to 17.8% (Karger, 2007, p.

Talent
TALENT The word talent is derived from the Greek word talanton , which means balance, sum,
weight, was an unit of weight, in gold and silver, which was used as a legal tender in the trading
transactions of ancient era. The word talent used today to denote the capacity of achievement or
success and or ability in varied fields of the arts and science. And oddly enough, the basic root of the
word was originally an ancient weight or money for the payment for goods and services in the ancient
world. So in simple words, we can say that a talent is something which is very valuable and more then
anything in the world. Everyone on the planet Earth has their own capacity and talent. The only thing
some people explores it and some not. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Examples Of Good Intentions In Romeo And Juliet
Good Intentions With Bad Outcomes Besides the more obvious messages that Shakespeare supports
throughout Romeo and Juliet, there is a less obvious that you can follow throughout the whole story.
Virtue itself turns vice, being misapplied, And vice sometime s by actions dignified. (Romeo and
Juliet 2.3:21 22). The ongoing message of good intentions with bad outcomes can be seen with almost
every character, not just Juliet and Romeo. One of the characters it embodies the most though is Lady
Capulet. You can see her good intentions for Juliet and how much she cares for her many times in the
story. That he shall soon keep Tybalt company; And then I hope thou wilt be satisfied (Romeo and
Juliet 3.5:91 92). When she sees her daughter crying she assumes it s over her deceased cousin and
tells her she ll kill who killed him. She has good intentions in saying this with the hopes of bringing up
her daughter s spirit. If she did follow through with that plan it would ve upset Juliet though. Even
though she would ve been trying to help it would ve ended poorly. ... Show more content on

does not have the guidance that her parents once gave her. She has to make decisions about her life

quit school and move in with her boyfriend. This poor planning has left her very behind in school
making her have to attend for an extra year in order to graduate. She also decided that it was all right
to smoke marijuana. This led to problems with the law, which is not good considering that she is a
criminal justice major. Next year she will be moving into an apartment and will have to work in order

Anne is figuring out the different aspects of her gender identity. She is taking on new life roles

What The Homestead Act Is Through Its Powerpoint Slideshow...
I found a great lesson to work off of for my lesson plan on history of the Homestead Act. The original
lesson was well organized but very short. I chose to focus on Domain 2 Conceptual Understandings
because this lesson plan only had one assessment and I felt that the assessment was weak in whether a
teacher could gage students understanding of the material. This lesson did a below average job of
explaining what the Homestead Act is through its powerpoint slideshow and worksheet activities. I
also didn t like how the lesson plan was designed to show a video clip of the Western Expansion at the
very end of the lecture. I feel that by showing this video is pointless and students might lose interest
by the end of the lesson.
Overall, I agree with the lesson objective but modified it to make it fit my lesson. I also thought that
the opening question was a good way to start a discussion of what the Homestead Act is and why
settlers moved west. I think this question really gets students thinking and is a great segway to the
powerpoint lecture. After the class discussion the lesson plan went right into the the powerpoint
lecture. I think this is a great next step but the powerpoint was very dry and boring. There is no way a
class of 4th graders could sit for 20 minutes listening to the provided powerpoint. The worksheet
packet is a great idea but it did not follow along with the powerpoint and at points is confusing. I
believe if a teacher is going to provide a worksheet packet

Animal Welfare Issues
Animal welfare issues exist everywhere in the world, some places more so than others. In saying that,
over the years thanks to organizations like PETA, SSCS, SAFE and IDA and so many more amazing
groups have led society to become more aware of the problems that exist when it comes to issues
relating to the proper care of animals. One very important example of animal cruelty is animals that
are brutally skinned for their fur, whether it s dogs in China or seals being culled for their fur, it s
inhumane. This is mostly because of the lack of compassion the fashion industry has when it comes to
fur. No matter how you look at it, there is no way to make a fur coat in a humane way. Whether fur
comes from animal farms or from wild animals, it is simply a barbaric action. Animals killed for their
fur in animal farms are normally electrocuted by having an electrical cable attached to their mouths
and another cable inserted into their rectum. Wild animals that are caught for their fur are usually
trapped in a steel leghold trap, a device that has been proven to be completely inhumane and has, in
fact, been banned in 65 countries, but is still allowed in the United States. ... Show more content on

Quite often these animals that are trapped in the wild in these terrible traps, don t die right away and
endure prolonged agony by dehyrdation, starvation or become mauled by other animals. If by chance,
the trapped animals are still alive when trappers find them, they are killed in a number of ways, like;
drowning, a hit in the head, or a blow to the chest to crush their heart. When it comes to the law in
regards to trapping for fur, there are really no laws to regulate how an animal can be killed so a
humane death for these innocent animals is

Pi s Lifeboat
In the novel, The Life of Pi, by Yann Martel, the lifeboat is a transformative image that alters and
somewhat controls which path Pi goes down. Throughout the novel, the meaning of the lifeboat
transforms. At first, the lifeboat acts as a zoo/ prison. It is the vessel from which Pi cannot escape, the
object that he cannot run from. He has no freedom on this boat, and if he leaves, certain death is
inevitable. However, as the storyline progresses, the boat becomes more of a saving grace. In the end,
when Pi arrives on land, it is the boat that carried him for 227 days and the only reason he lived to tell
the tale. Without the lifeboat, he would have died on the Tsimtsum with the rest of his family on the
day of the shipwreck. The symbolic meaning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While on the raft, he says that, I started thinking seriously about how I was going to deal with Richard
Parker... I needed safe access to the locker and the top of the tarpaulin, no matter the time of day or the
weather, no matter his mood. It was rights I needed, the sort of rights that come with might. It was
time to impose myself and carve out my territory. (202)
His need for the supplies on the lifeboat are what cause him to decide to try and train Richard Parker.
Without his need for the lifeboat, he never would have chose to do something so dangerous and with
such low odds of succeeding. Later on while training the tiger, Pi says my behavior was not an act of
insanity or a covert suicide attempt, but a simple necessity. Either I tamed him, made him see who was
Number One and who was Number Two or I died the day I wanted to climb aboard the lifeboat during
rough weather and he objected (206). He reinforces the idea that to train Richard Parker is a necessity
and that his need for the boat overwhelms his fear or the tiger. Later on in the same instance during Pi
s training of the tiger, he tells of how the wild animal would make a point by knocking him off of the
boat with one swipe of it s paw. He describes his retaliation by saying, Then I made my point, feet on
the gunnel, boat rolling, my single note language blasting from the whistle, and Richard Parker
moaning and gasping

The Similarities and Differences between Buddhism, Jainism...
Upon reading about the historical and religious background of Ancient India, one can clearly assume
that the country was strongly influenced by three main religious teachings: Hinduism, Jainism and
Buddhism. These three sects in religious thinking have many similarities as all recognize the life cycle
and the need of liberation, they worship one central deity that used to be a human who gained
enlightenment and they all recognize the existence of the eternal soul and after death re incarnation.
However, they also share a lot of differences that mark the underlying principles of practicing them. I
will identify the scope of differences and similarities in these ancient religions in an attempt to
understand why each attracted followers, why ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Buddhism teaches people to live honorably and follow the Eightfold Path to reach release from the
state of infinite re incarnation and reach nirvana, which means the end of the life cycle by living a life
full of dignity and refuse from all other attachments causing their desires and strifes McKay et al.,
2008)
Jainism treats the issue of life and death in a very similar way. Followers believe that living a non
violent life and respecting the sacred life existing around people (according to the Jains, everything in
the world, including the inanimate, has a soul) may release the human being from the vicious circle of
re incarnation. Jains also recognize the eternal nature of the human soul and believe it exists as
enmeshed in the human s or object s body during a whole life. However, Jainism assumes that the soul
parts from the body when it does to be re incarnated into something (or somebody) else, which means
Jains do not recognize the unity of soul and body. This is actually the principle of all three religions
they pose little value to the human life because all followers believe that the soul will still remain in
the human world, but will only change its appearance once re incarnated into some other being or
object. (McKay et al., 2008)
Hinduism fully shares the idea of the life cycle and re incarnation, as all were essentially derived from
the Brahman tradition. People should spend their life in search of unity with Brahman, following the
teaching of Vedas and

BBC Worldwide: Global Strategy Case
Company Overview
The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) was formed in 1922 by a group of radio manufacturers
in order to popularize the new medium and create content for customers to listen to on their new
devises. The organization grew as it developed a radio transmitter network and started looking at other
media types. However, due to an issue of license fee collection, the BBC experienced heavy financial
losses which caused the original radio manufacturers to pull out of the entity. To enable the entity to
continue operating, a Royal Charter was created to fund the entity moving forward. BBC still operates

Strengths
Based on the questionnaire administered to BBC users, we can see that BBC is seen very favorably by
its users. BBC as a brand is very strong, which is something the CEO of BBC WW will need to use
effectively. BBC WW is also in a very strong financial position. Based on the financial data provided,
the profits generated by BBC WW nearly tripled over the previous three years, and were on track to
meet the £100M target for the FY2006 2007. Lastly, BBC WW has a very well diversified portfolio of
media to meet any demand.
Weaknesses
Due to the fact that BBC operates under a Royal Charter, it tends to be more conservative and it s very
focused in its programing on British culture. This can make it more difficult for BBC WW to see
programing in cultures that are not fans of the British culture. BBC WW is also significantly under
staffed in its international offices, which could make it difficult to implement major strategy changes.
Finally, there seems to be a communication gap between BBC WW and BBC when it comes to
suggestions for innovations, and that could hinder progress in new markets.
Opportunities
BBC WW is well positioned to grow due to its significant web presence. The company has done a
great job of embracing new media and distribution mediums. BBC WW is also poised to take
advantage of growth in some global markets. These markets were identified as

Analysis Of The Film Franchise Of Jaws
The film and entertainment industry are often reflective of how society feels towards something or it
may influence how society will feel. For example in the past with the Film Franchise of Jaws people
began spreading myths of sharks as man eaters. The film industry in this scenario held huge sway over
public opinion and even caused the shark population on the northwestern seaboard. According to
Research Biologist Dr. Julia Baum, form the year of 1986 to 2000 there was an 89% drop in total
shark population on the Northwestern Atlantic Ocean (BBC article). The film industry holds an
especially impactful hold over people s public opinion in America. With one film the way people spent

This proverbial mold of what a woman is, usually determined by her status as being motherly and
staying involved in their children s lives. The societal norm is often represented by someone who goes
to every PTA meeting, every soccer game, and cooks every meal. Hollywood often provides society
with the golden standard of what a mother should be like. The movie industry further promulgates this
typical mold by typically portraying women in parts similar to these not only their parts but also the
genre of movies women normally participate in. According to the Hollywood Reporter in an article
about how Movies in 2016 Featured a record Number of Women Protagonists . In this article, it even

implications of not portraying women in a more serious genre like action movies. This exemplifies
that society and particularly writers and producers of Hollywood have trouble viewing women in

Florida’s Incompetent Capital Punishment System
Many times when watching television, we see horrible news about a crime committed, which is most
likely is not in self defense. The first thing that comes to our minds; this person is going to receive the
death penalty. First degree murder triggers our emotions to see justice. Even in a country where
everyone is innocent until proven guilty, we are quick to pass judgment and convict the suspect in
question. With technology so advanced in the United States where we can receive the news even into
our phones, many times the accused do not received a fair trial. On the other hand, the incompetence
of lawyers has created great doubt on the delivery of justice. Additionally, by eliminating the capital

Supporters believe murder for murders is the only way to bring justice, and people would consider the
analogy before committing these types of crimes. Supporters of the capital punishment system penalty
argue that when enforced, the death penalty saves lives. The fault placed into the opposing side for
using the system with new trials to postpone execution. The problem with that argument is that in
Florida, a total of twenty five death row prisoners had been released due to erroneous convictions and
were able to prove innocence, not a strong argument when lives are at risk. Meanwhile, the police
department is facing budget cuts because the state of Florida is facing a deficit of billions of dollars.
At this moment, budget cuts are affecting all government departments not only the police Department,
but also fire department and education are also been affected. Fifty one million dollars is the cost to
enforce death penalty in Florida. If the death penalty is eliminated, would be a savings of eleven
millions would be saved just in specialist lawyers for death penalty cases. Imagine allocating eleven
million dollars just in the police department for crime prevention. Supporters of the death penalty will
argue that life in prison is not enough to bring the much needed justice to the families of the victims.

Themes In Vertigo
Vertigo is a 1958 American Psychological thriller film directed by one of the best director of all times,
Alfred Hitchcock. The movie shows many contexts like fear, obsession and fantasy. The movie starts
when John (Scottie) Ferguson (James Stewart) a detective retires from his job when his fellow officer
loses his life falling from the height. In this moment, he accidentally gains acrophobia (fear of height).
His friend Gavin Elster (Tom Helmore) wants him to tail and follow Madeleine (Kim Novak) who is
acting weird and strange recently. Scottie blames himself and feels guilty when he can t save
Madeleine from jumping off the tower. The film throughout the time shows the different contexts to
relate the theme of obsession and sexual fantasy. The film is one of the top example in use of camera,
cinematography, score and direction. The movie successfully portrays how love turns into obsession,
how fear leads these characters into different madness, by the perfect use of color, cinematography
and use of characters. Color is one of the essential part of the movie. The use of color can determine
various emotions in the film. It can add richness to any scene. The use of white has always shown to
describe the peace and purity, whereas the red describes rage, anger and bad. Black is color of mystery
usually used to show the darkness, evilness of a scene. Hitchcock is a big fan of use of color, he has
perfectly used the colors to demonstrate the characters build up and add the depth to it. Scottie sees
Madeleine for the first time in the restaurant wearing a dark green color dress which makes her focus
among the other people. Scottie starts feeling something her, next day again when he follows her,
Madeleine drives green car which again tries to state that she is the main focus. The use of alternative
colors in the movie depicts how the characters are build up to the story, red is shown as the Scottie s
obsession, fantasy and love whereas green to create this uncanniness, and unrealism and yellow as a
reality, and truth of the matter.
In the next scene, Madeline drives to Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco which is red. She was
again showed in a green dress, which matches the sea color green. She jumps into the sea

research design refers to approaches and research strategies, e.g. surveys; questionnaires etc. In a
broader context methodology refers to a design whereby, the researcher selects data and analysis
procedures to investigate a specific research problem (Cohen, Manion and Morrison; 2008). Research
designs have been classified differently by different scholars. Some scholars (Bodgan Biklen, 1982)
discuss research methods under two broad headings: qualitative and quantitative. Gay (1987) indicates
that while naturalistic researcher prefer qualitative methods, such as participant observation and in
depth interviewing, rationalistic researchers tend to use quantitative methodologies such as random
selection of subjects and administration of standardized instruments. While qualitative studies focus
on subjective information, such as feelings, experiences or opinions: data that cannot be scientifically
quantified. Quantitative research is the opposite, shunning subjectivity in favor of objectivity.
Quantitative research focuses on statistics and quantifiable information.
The present research is both qualitative and quantitative in nature as it involves in depth analysis of
the textbook content as well as questionnaire which has both open

Taliban Ideology
Taliban as an ideology is worst. This is simply a different story than the people in the West are
apprehending it.
These are Taliban who come from Pashtun ethnicity. They ve been fighting for recognition as an
ethnic Pashtun majority in Afghanistan where the minority (Tajik and Uzbek) has been ruling since the
US led invasion of the region. Tajik and Uzbek (formerly northern alliance who make up the smallest
minority in whole of Afghanistan) are running the major institutes of Afghanistan any majority
anywhere in the world would never sit around and see their rights squashed; while their people have to
suffer in misery.
There are some cases that some people has joined taliban not in support of their ideology but just
because of the presence of drug traffickers, kidnappers and corrupt people in the government for the
last 13 years (There were some good people too in the government but they ... Show more content on

Pakistan constantly lectured the US on ethnic conflict in Afghanistan to take place in any future
government setup, but warnings fell on deaf ears... look at the situation today.
Only recently did America understand the worries from Pakistan when the ungrateful ex President of
Afghanistan Hamid Karzai (who was all about pushing India s agenda in the country) declined to sign
a paper with the US, allowing minimum number of the US forces in Afghanistan to remain for 10
years. Karzai refused to sign that and instead humiliated the US on various occasion by calling them
to leave. Anyone can apprehend why he was so desperate to drive the US forces out of Afghanistan
(while Pakistan pushed on the US to stay in the region Pakistan knew who was motivating Karzai to
ask the US to leave the region and for what

Movie Theater Experience
Experiencing Film in Theaters Watching movies is probably one of my favorite activities, it does not
matter if the movie good or bad; I just want to watch them. I loved going to the theaters as a kid
because the entire experience was always so exciting, especially since it was the first thing my mother
let me do out on my own. Going to the movies had always been a blessing but as I have grown I have
made an effort to go less often. While the experience is still the same I just notice just how bad the
overall experience can be as well.
Honestly, the best part of watching a movie in theaters is the movie theater experience; for example
the seats, the popcorn, the large screen, the sound system, the people, and the new releases. It is not
just you in your room watching a movie, it is you reacting to the film and to the people around you
around you as well, all the while getting all these over the top elements as well. Movie going takes a
common experience and amplifies it so it feels like you re getting something even greater.
Plus, my favorite part for any film has always been the trailers; the exciting bits and pieces of coming
films thrown together to entice future visits. With fast paced action and cliffhanging details that are
thrown in the 2 3 minute time frame, I am left wanting to come back and see that movie when it
comes out. It is how they reel me in and keep me coming back in regular intervals. I have also gotten
really into staying for the credits as well

Consequences Of Mao Zedong
Under Mao Zedong, China experienced profound social and economic changes. Industry increased,
prostitution and opium use was reduced, and many experienced an increase in social standing as land
was redistributed to the peasants, prior to collectivization. But many of the policies that were enacted
had negative, even disastrous consequences, which were never properly apologized for or rectified. In
1981, 5 years after Mao s death, the Chinese Communist Party stated that Mao was essentially 70%
good and 30% bad. But Mao s disconnect from the actualities of his policies, paranoia towards his
status in the Party and his public image, and lack of foresight in regards to the consequences of his
decisions had extreme ramifications on China that not only led to the death of millions, but
fundamentally undermined legitimacy of the government. Through the specific policies of the
Hundred Flowers campaign, the Great Leap Forward, and the Cultural Revolution, Mao s lack of
understanding of his actions, and his poor treatment of those who criticized him are very apparent.
And while not all of Mao s policies and actions were disastrous, his errors outweighed his merits. In
actuality, Mao s actions were more likely 80% bad and 20% good.
Mao implemented many policies during his time in power, yet when faced with the unforeseen
consequences, Mao made decisions that not only contradicted his prior statements, had unforeseen
consequences. One example is the Hundred Flowers campaign. In 1957,

Providing Culturally Competent Care Essay
The National Center for Cultural Competence developed a validated assessment tool at the request of
the Bureau of Primary Health Care (BPHC), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA),
U.S. Department of Health and Human Service (DHHS) (National Center for Cultural Competence
(NCCC), 2004). The intent of the assessment tool is to to enhance the delivery of high quality services
to culturally and linguistically diverse individuals and underserved communities (NCCC, para. 1,
2004).
The tool is intended to take 20 minutes to complete, is confidential and is available only online. Upon
completion of the survey a profile of the practitioner s Values Belief Systems Subscale in six areas:

I live in the county 62 and work in county eight. By virtue of living the culture and the classes I take,
it seems there is a disparity. Leaving me feel there is something askew. It is not in keeping with the
results of other tools that I have completed.
The positive side of having such a dismal result to the cultural assessment is a rich bibliography of
resources divided into categories. Some articles are familiar and some are new. The spiritual and
ethical areas suggested for expanding my knowledge include:
Identifying and engaging key cultural informants within diverse communities
Querying key cultural informants regarding values, beliefs, and practices of community members as
they relate to religiosity and spirituality, practitioner credibility, health, health care, illness and well
being
These are the key points taken from that review. My plan to address these is to utilize the videos listed
in the bibliography first. I will include one video a month beginning March 25, 2010. As I review
research protocols developed by professors at the local universities which focus on minority or special
need populations, I will use that opportunity to glean information from the literature review, study
plan and active engagement with the investigator to expand my knowledge beginning February 25,
2010. The ethical considerations associated with vulnerable populations require additional protections
to ensure the study participants are not exploited

Disadvantages And Disadvantages Of Deep Water Running
Introduction
This technical report will analyse existing evaluations of deep water running whilst also exploring the
advantages and disadvantages of deep water running.
Deep Water Running or Aqua Running is the replication of a running style where the subject is
submerged up to the neck in water and is unable to touch the ground (Masumoto et al 2017). It is used
by elite athletes in a variety of situations: as a rehabilitation technique, allowing the athlete to maintain
their cardiovascular fitness whilst injured, as a form of active recovery, increasing heart rate helping to
increase blood flow to muscles, and also in addition to a regular training programme, allowing more
cardiovascular training without excess strain on joints and muscles from the impact forces of running.
A flotation belt is normally used to carry out deep water training in order to copy the style used by the
runner on land (Kilgore).
The use of deep water running is advantageous to an athlete, less pressure is placed upon their joints
and spine allowing them to increase training volume without increasing the risk of injury. Meanwhile
the recovery process from the athletes major training sessions can also be sped up by deep water
running allowing the athlete to train under less fatigue in future sessions.
Deep water running can however provide some disadvantages to an athlete who uses it. To achieve the
same benefits from a training session they must work at a greater perceived effort. The use of deep

Duality Of Organized Religion
The Duality of Organized Religion and Spirituality
From the beginning of human existence, religion and spirituality have played immense, critical roles
in the lives of people and the functionings of our society. In our world today, the conflict in religious
forces combined with the conflict in spiritual forces depict both our confusion and our yearning to
connect with divine forces and influence the people around us for good. Organized Religion and
spirituality both provide their own unique, important influences and opportunities to individuals and
our society. Each have their own set of benefits and detriments and analyzing these are growingly
essential to our world because people choose to participate in one or the other or both and ... Show

From ancient Egypt, we find the first official records of religious practice. Egyptian religion was a
large, polytheistic system complete with idols, statues and the pyramids. Religion in ancient Egypt
dictated nearly everything anybody said, wore or did on a daily basis. Phoenicia, Palestine, Greece and
Rome all followed with similar references to the divine and texts that portrayed themes of holiness
and mythological practices.(Mark http://www.ancient.eu/religion/) The Hindu faith is perfect evidence
of the resilience and strength of religion. Founded in India in 2,000 BCE, it is still one of the most
widely accepted and has one of the largest populations in the world. (BBC No Author
http://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/religions/hinduism/) Throughout history we have seen religion in many
different forms such as mythology and these forms have often been manifest in governments and
societies. This proves its resilience and vibrancy since the beginning of human existence and today in
our modern culture. Mankind has both created and relied on religion from the very beginning and how
those systems have stayed dependable and substantial in the forces of the worlds governmental and
societal organizations.
Another advantage to Organized religion is that in many circumstances it can cultivate love and
service in a community. Service organizations, community functions and assistance

Examples Of Political Antisemitism
Antisemitism is broken down into two areas both modern antisemitism, and political antisemitism, but
even before modern antisemitism and political antisemitism there was traditional antisemitism which
was spun off of Christian anti Judaism. The traditional way was created because Christians believed
the jewish people needed to be punished or reprimanded because of their rejection for Jesus Christ as
the Messiah, but also for economic misbehavior and in some cases people even believed the jewish
people had desire to control the world and this was the myth of the jews. The hatred was focused the
most on the stereotype of the Jew and not necessarily the people who lived within authentic Jewish
communities. Traditional antisemitism can be based ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Turning the government away from the real problems in the political realm, and toward the wrong
hatred is now thought to be one of the worst ideas in international history. It is now believed the only
way to be a true extreme nationalist country is to isolate the country from others such as todays
modern state of North Korea. The Nazi Germany era thrived off of blaming the Jewish people for all
the wrong that had come to the Nation in the past to bring them to their present

The Poverty Of New Zealand
You would like to believe that New Zealand, a well developed country, is a great place for children to
live. For most of us that is true however there is still a concerning amount of children who live in
poverty. Since the late 1980 s and early 1990 s there has been an increase in child poverty of around
15 percent (Boston, 2014). Currently the New Zealand government spends up to ten billion dollars a
year on attempting to solve child poverty and yet still as many as 25 percent of children, which is
roughly about 270,000 children, currently live in poverty in New Zealand, (Expert Advisory Group on
solutions to Child Poverty (EAG), 2012), (Boston McIntosh, 2012). Poverty in New Zealand means
experiencing hunger, food insecurity, reduced life expectancy, poor health outcomes, debt, inability to
afford required medical care, unaffordable or crowded housing and not being able to fully participate
in society (Haultain, 2012). This is an issue that urgently needs to be resolved as poverty can have
some serious negative impacts on people s lives. (EAG, 2012).
While Maori are represented within all socioeconomic areas of New Zealand society, Maori are
currently over represented in poverty statistics. Maori children are far more likely to be exposed to the
impacts and effects of poverty than the average child. (Simpson, Duncanson, Oben, Wicken Pierson.
2015). There are around 13 percent of Maori children that are effected by severe poverty compared to
only five percent of

Joseph Carens Aliens And Citizens Analysis
James Madison, fourth President of the United States, once said, America was indebted to immigration
for her settlement and prosperity . If we really think about it, everyone who is not Native American is
an immigrant (or has descended from an immigrant). In light of the prosperity of the United States
today, to which immigrants have contributed in no small amount, it is interesting to think about Joseph
Carens idea of open borders.
In Aliens and Citizens: The Case for Open Borders, Carens argues that people should be allowed to
migrate from their home country to some other state, especially citizens of third world countries
immigrating to more developed nations. In his argument, he makes use of his interpretation of three

He claims that the way of life would not be affected a lot if the number of migrants was not a lot. In
fact, he cites Walzer stating that people do not like to move (Walzer 38) unless there are extenuating
circumstances, since they are emotionally attached to their homeland. However, in most third world
nations, circumstances today are bad enough to warrant people leaving. For instance, consider Syria,
where 9 million of the 22 million people fled to neighboring countries during the civil war, according
to the UN. While this is a one off case, thousands of Mexican citizens try to cross the border into the
United States everyday. Mexico is not undergoing a civil war, but the everyday circumstances there
are bad enough for people to want to move. Most countries in Africa are facing drought, and their
people are starving one can assume their circumstances are bad

The Challenges Of A Sharie Lawyer
The Challenges of Sharie Lawyers In reality, in every field of works there are challenges that need to
be face by every person in particular fields. Similar thing happen to the Sharie lawyer as there are
many challenges throughout their journey. The challenges of the shari e lawyer will be discussed
further below. The challenges of sharie lawyer can be seen before the admission and after been
admitted as a lawyer. Firstly, in order to be admitted as a syarie lawyer, there are many procedures that
need to be followed. One of them is a need to sit for Interview or Written Examination. It surely will
cause difficulties to those who interested to become a Sharie Lawyer. In some states such a Negeri
Sembilan and Penang, the person has to undergo chambering for several period mentioned, then has to

Advantages Of Virtual Reality
The first one and half decade of 21st century has seen significant, rapid advancement in the
development of electric device technology. The large size PCs turns into the small size and eventually
laptop are covering majority market. Inn this duration, small and highly powerful mobile technologies,
has exploded while prices steadily become lower and lower. The rise of smartphones and device like
Google Glass with high density displays and 3D graphics capabilities has allows this new technology
called virtual reality.
What is Virtual Reality?

For example in our childhood, we learned we have five senses: taste, touch, smell, sight, and hearing.
However, the fact that humans have lots of other senses than this, such as a sense of balance for
example. This other sensory input ensures that we have an abundant flow of information from the
environment to our minds.
Therefore, we can say that our entire experience of reality is nothing but a combination of sensory
information and our brains sense making mechanisms for that particular information. It stands to
reason then, that if you can present your senses with given information, your perception of reality
would also change in response to it.
Use of Virtual Reality technology:
Today there are many applications use virtual reality which mainly include fields like Architecture,
Sport, Medicine, the Arts and surely an entertainment where we can see considerable growth in the
recent time.
Today many big companies like Samsung, HTC and Google are creating virtual products. You will
find that there are many mobile app development companies are doing Virtual Reality Application
Development. Here, I have given few advantages of using virtual reality technology by business
enterprises.

Short Stories
The themes of short stories are often relevant to real life? To what extent do you agree with this view?
In the short stories Miss Brill and Frau Brechenmacher attends a wedding written by Katherine
Mansfield, the themes which are relevant to real life in Miss Brill are isolation and appearance versus
reality. Likewise Frau Brechenmacher suffers through isolation throughout the story and also male
dominance is one of the major themes that are highlighted in the story. These themes are relevant to
real life as women are likely to suffer more in their life than men.
In Miss Brill one of the central theme is isolation as Miss Brill is mentally isolated this is portrayed
when she takes her fur out of the box which is symbolic of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Through her actions which gives us an insight that she is emotionally isolated from her husband. Frau
brechenmacher is also socially isolated, this is portrayed when one of the lady at wedding mentions
my dear you skirt is open at the back...we could not help laughing as you walked up the room with
white tape of your petticoat showing . Also highlighted when all laughing at her because they were so
much stronger then she was . This quote refers to the point that she is emotionally weak, as she asserts
her humanity through her fear. As the women laugh at her, Frau brechenmacher feels humiliated and
betrayed by someone she expected to be united with. This theme is relevant to real life as in both the
short story women are likely to struggle more than men.
Another theme which is highlighted in the story is male dominance which is portrayed when Frau
Brechenmacher addresses Herr Brechnmacher by the father . This represents Herr Brechenmacher s
dominating character towards Frau Brechenmacher. This also shows a weak bond of understanding
between Herr and Frau Brechenmacher. Reason for Frau Brechenmacher showing her submissive
behaviour towards her husband as mentioned girls have a lot to learn . This highlights that she has
learnt her lesson too well and passes the message onto the reader to give us an insight of role of
women in early 19th century. She is used for sexual purposes as depicted in story she puts her arms
across her face

  • 3. Using Images And Image Optimization It s said that a picture is equal to 1,000 words. However, in most discussions of SEO best practices, the topic of image optimization is a bit of an afterthought. Many of today s best practice guides for image optimization remain very similar to what an aspiring SEO might have read a decade ago. In recent years, the emergence of social media, the emphasis placed on page speed optimization, and the use of structured data and rich snippets have changed the game a bit. Looking ahead to the future, SEO practitioners and business owners may need to entirely re think how they approach using images and image optimization. But before breaking down the past, present and future of SEO for images, it s worth looking at why this subject is an important one, and perhaps far more critical for some industries than they may realize. Why Image Optimization Matters Businesses like accounting software companies or psychotherapists probably place a limited emphasis of image results in search engines. Their offerings are not highly visual, and text is a good medium for conveying their messages. Alternatively, businesses like a jewelers selling cufflinks, or a local businesses specializing in custom signage must be very aware of their presence in the image results of Google, Yahoo, and Bing. If they aren t, they re missing a lot of potential market share. With product offerings that are largely in demand based upon their visual appeal, a strong organic presence in the image results can mean ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The R V. Dudley And Stephens Case Essay The R v. Dudley and Stephens case occurred in 1884. In May of that year, four men left Southampton, England for Australia on the Mignonette, a private sailing yacht. These men were Captain Thomas Dudley (31), mate Edward Stephens (36), seaman Edmond Brooks (38), and cabin boy Richard Parker (17). While crossing the South Atlantic near the Cape of Good Hope in July, bad weather struck the yacht and it sunk. The men managed to escape into the lifeboat, and two one pound tins of turnips were the only food they subsisted on for four days. They caught a small turtle on the fourth day that lasted eight days, and were without food for another eight days after. The only fresh water they had was the rain that came from time to time. On the sixteenth day of drifting Richard Parker became ill from drinking seawater. On the eighteenth day Dudley and Stephens approached Brooks with the idea that they should sacrifice one person to save the rest. Brooks dissented, and they did not consult Parker as he was ill. On July 24th Dudley and Stephens reasoned with Brooks, saying that since they had families to take care of it was most logical to kill the boy and save themselves. They proposed that if there were no vessels in sight the next day they would kill Parker. As there were no vessels, Dudley killed Parker by slitting his throat; the boy was so ill he did not resist. Brooks dissented until Parker s death, but also fed on the blood and flesh of Parker with the two accused for four days. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Tillandsia Air Plant Lab Report Introduction This experiment will explore which of three air plant mounting materials leads to the most growth within Tillandsia Ionantha Fuego, a type of air plant. Tillandsia improve the quality of the air around it. Knowing which method of growing them is the quickest can help purify air in the fastest manner possible, which can help people whose homes have poor air quality. While it does not have an extremely large significance, it can be a small step towards having fresher air in people s homes. The independent variable is the type of material the Tillandsia were mounted on. The types are a cup of stones and wood, with the suspended plants being the control. There were three plants in each material, totalling to nine plants altogether. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the plants grown in stones, the average growth in weight was approximately 0.327 grams while the average growth in leaf length was 0 centimeters. Lastly, the average weight growth for the control group in a plant hanger was 0.202 grams and their leaf growth was 0 centimeters. Plants 3 (grown in wood) and 4 (grown in stones) exhibited the largest decrease in weight, losing 0.633 and .607 grams from the first to 36th day. The plants with the least decrease in weight were plants 5 (grown in stones) and 7 (control group), with a loss of 0.145 grams and 0.139 centimeters, respectively. Welfare Reform Pros And Cons The Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 (PRWORA) was one of the biggest legislation signed by Bill Clinton that focused on welfare. The main goals of this law were to lessen the dependency on federal government welfare while increasing employment and reducing poverty. The program established a 5 year lifetime time limit for welfare benefits. Because the welfare program was focused on increasing employment while decreasing poverty, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, TANF, was initiated. These issues include a lack of work experience and education as well as poor health (Urban Institute, 2014). • 8. Examples Of Good Intentions In Romeo And Juliet Good Intentions With Bad Outcomes Besides the more obvious messages that Shakespeare supports throughout Romeo and Juliet, there is a less obvious that you can follow throughout the whole story. Virtue itself turns vice, being misapplied, And vice sometime s by actions dignified. (Romeo and Juliet 2.3:21 22). The ongoing message of good intentions with bad outcomes can be seen with almost every character, not just Juliet and Romeo. One of the characters it embodies the most though is Lady Capulet. You can see her good intentions for Juliet and how much she cares for her many times in the story. That he shall soon keep Tybalt company; And then I hope thou wilt be satisfied (Romeo and Juliet 3.5:91 92). When she sees her daughter crying she assumes it s over her deceased cousin and tells her she ll kill who killed him. • 10. What The Homestead Act Is Through Its Powerpoint Slideshow... I found a great lesson to work off of for my lesson plan on history of the Homestead Act. The original lesson was well organized but very short. I chose to focus on Domain 2 Conceptual Understandings because this lesson plan only had one assessment and I felt that the assessment was weak in whether a teacher could gage students understanding of the material. This lesson did a below average job of explaining what the Homestead Act is through its powerpoint slideshow and worksheet activities. I also didn t like how the lesson plan was designed to show a video clip of the Western Expansion at the very end of the lecture. I feel that by showing this video is pointless and students might lose interest by the end of the lesson. Overall, I agree with the lesson objective but modified it to make it fit my lesson. I also thought that the opening question was a good way to start a discussion of what the Homestead Act is and why settlers moved west. I think this question really gets students thinking and is a great segway to the powerpoint lecture. After the class discussion the lesson plan went right into the the powerpoint lecture. I think this is a great next step but the powerpoint was very dry and boring. There is no way a class of 4th graders could sit for 20 minutes listening to the provided powerpoint. The worksheet packet is a great idea but it did not follow along with the powerpoint and at points is confusing. I believe if a teacher is going to provide a worksheet packet ... In saying that, over the years thanks to organizations like PETA, SSCS, SAFE and IDA and so many more amazing groups have led society to become more aware of the problems that exist when it comes to issues relating to the proper care of animals. One very important example of animal cruelty is animals that are brutally skinned for their fur, whether it s dogs in China or seals being culled for their fur, it s inhumane. This is mostly because of the lack of compassion the fashion industry has when it comes to fur. No matter how you look at it, there is no way to make a fur coat in a humane way. Whether fur comes from animal farms or from wild animals, it is simply a barbaric action. Animals killed for their fur in animal farms are normally electrocuted by having an electrical cable attached to their mouths and another cable inserted into their rectum. Wild animals that are caught for their fur are usually trapped in a steel leghold trap, a device that has been proven to be completely inhumane and has, in fact, been banned in 65 countries, but is still allowed in the United States. ... • 12. Pi s Lifeboat In the novel, The Life of Pi, by Yann Martel, the lifeboat is a transformative image that alters and somewhat controls which path Pi goes down. Throughout the novel, the meaning of the lifeboat transforms. At first, the lifeboat acts as a zoo/ prison. It is the vessel from which Pi cannot escape, the object that he cannot run from. He has no freedom on this boat, and if he leaves, certain death is inevitable. However, as the storyline progresses, the boat becomes more of a saving grace. In the end, when Pi arrives on land, it is the boat that carried him for 227 days and the only reason he lived to tell the tale. It was time to impose myself and carve out my territory. (202) His need for the supplies on the lifeboat are what cause him to decide to try and train Richard Parker. Without his need for the lifeboat, he never would have chose to do something so dangerous and with such low odds of succeeding. Later on while training the tiger, Pi says my behavior was not an act of insanity or a covert suicide attempt, but a simple necessity. Either I tamed him, made him see who was Number One and who was Number Two or I died the day I wanted to climb aboard the lifeboat during rough weather and he objected (206). He reinforces the idea that to train Richard Parker is a necessity and that his need for the boat overwhelms his fear or the tiger. Later on in the same instance during Pi s training of the tiger, he tells of how the wild animal would make a point by knocking him off of the boat with one swipe of it s paw. Upon reading about the historical and religious background of Ancient India, one can clearly assume that the country was strongly influenced by three main religious teachings: Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism. Followers believe that living a non violent life and respecting the sacred life existing around people (according to the Jains, everything in the world, including the inanimate, has a soul) may release the human being from the vicious circle of re incarnation. Jains also recognize the eternal nature of the human soul and believe it exists as enmeshed in the human s or object s body during a whole life. However, Jainism assumes that the soul parts from the body when it does to be re incarnated into something (or somebody) else, which means Jains do not recognize the unity of soul and body. This is actually the principle of all three religions they pose little value to the human life because all followers believe that the soul will still remain in the human world, but will only change its appearance once re incarnated into some other being or object. • 19. Themes In Vertigo Vertigo is a 1958 American Psychological thriller film directed by one of the best director of all times, Alfred Hitchcock. The movie shows many contexts like fear, obsession and fantasy. The movie starts when John (Scottie) Ferguson (James Stewart) a detective retires from his job when his fellow officer loses his life falling from the height. In this moment, he accidentally gains acrophobia (fear of height). His friend Gavin Elster (Tom Helmore) wants him to tail and follow Madeleine (Kim Novak) who is acting weird and strange recently. Scottie blames himself and feels guilty when he can t save Madeleine from jumping off the tower. The film throughout the time shows the different contexts to relate the theme of obsession and sexual fantasy. The film is one of the top example in use of camera, cinematography, score and direction. The movie successfully portrays how love turns into obsession, how fear leads these characters into different madness, by the perfect use of color, cinematography and use of characters. Color is one of the essential part of the movie. The use of color can determine various emotions in the film. It can add richness to any scene. The use of white has always shown to describe the peace and purity, whereas the red describes rage, anger and bad. Black is color of mystery usually used to show the darkness, evilness of a scene. Hitchcock is a big fan of use of color, he has perfectly used the colors to demonstrate the characters build up and add the depth to it. Scottie sees Madeleine for the first time in the restaurant wearing a dark green color dress which makes her focus among the other people. • 20. Design Of The Research Design Essay CHAPTER 4 DESIGN OF THE STUDY 4.1 INTRODUCTION This chapter describes the methodology and research design of the study. The methodology describes the broad scheme or plan of the research and elaborates the tools of analysis. A methodology or a research design refers to approaches and research strategies, e.g. surveys; questionnaires etc. In a broader context methodology refers to a design whereby, the researcher selects data and analysis procedures to investigate a specific research problem (Cohen, Manion and Morrison; 2008). Research designs have been classified differently by different scholars. Some scholars (Bodgan Biklen, 1982) discuss research methods under two broad headings: qualitative and quantitative. Gay (1987) indicates that while naturalistic researcher prefer qualitative methods, such as participant observation and in depth interviewing, rationalistic researchers tend to use quantitative methodologies such as random selection of subjects and administration of standardized instruments. While qualitative studies focus on subjective information, such as feelings, experiences or opinions: data that cannot be scientifically quantified. Quantitative research is the opposite, shunning subjectivity in favor of objectivity. Quantitative research focuses on statistics and quantifiable information. The present research is both qualitative and quantitative in nature as it involves in depth analysis of the textbook content as well as questionnaire which has both open ... • 22. Movie Theater Experience Experiencing Film in Theaters Watching movies is probably one of my favorite activities, it does not matter if the movie good or bad; I just want to watch them. I loved going to the theaters as a kid because the entire experience was always so exciting, especially since it was the first thing my mother let me do out on my own. Going to the movies had always been a blessing but as I have grown I have made an effort to go less often. While the experience is still the same I just notice just how bad the overall experience can be as well. Honestly, the best part of watching a movie in theaters is the movie theater experience; for example the seats, the popcorn, the large screen, the sound system, the people, and the new releases. It is not just you in your room watching a movie, it is you reacting to the film and to the people around you around you as well, all the while getting all these over the top elements as well. Movie going takes a common experience and amplifies it so it feels like you re getting something even greater. Plus, my favorite part for any film has always been the trailers; the exciting bits and pieces of coming films thrown together to entice future visits. With fast paced action and cliffhanging details that are thrown in the 2 3 minute time frame, I am left wanting to come back and see that movie when it comes out. It is how they reel me in and keep me coming back in regular intervals. I have also gotten really into staying for the credits as well ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. Consequences Of Mao Zedong Under Mao Zedong, China experienced profound social and economic changes. Industry increased, prostitution and opium use was reduced, and many experienced an increase in social standing as land was redistributed to the peasants, prior to collectivization. But many of the policies that were enacted had negative, even disastrous consequences, which were never properly apologized for or rectified. In 1981, 5 years after Mao s death, the Chinese Communist Party stated that Mao was essentially 70% good and 30% bad. But Mao s disconnect from the actualities of his policies, paranoia towards his status in the Party and his public image, and lack of foresight in regards to the consequences of his decisions had extreme ramifications on China that not only led to the death of millions, but fundamentally undermined legitimacy of the government. Through the specific policies of the Hundred Flowers campaign, the Great Leap Forward, and the Cultural Revolution, Mao s lack of understanding of his actions, and his poor treatment of those who criticized him are very apparent. And while not all of Mao s policies and actions were disastrous, his errors outweighed his merits. In actuality, Mao s actions were more likely 80% bad and 20% good. Mao implemented many policies during his time in power, yet when faced with the unforeseen consequences, Mao made decisions that not only contradicted his prior statements, had unforeseen consequences. One example is the Hundred Flowers campaign. In 1957, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My plan to address these is to utilize the videos listed in the bibliography first. I will include one video a month beginning March 25, 2010. • 25. Disadvantages And Disadvantages Of Deep Water Running Introduction This technical report will analyse existing evaluations of deep water running whilst also exploring the advantages and disadvantages of deep water running. Deep Water Running or Aqua Running is the replication of a running style where the subject is submerged up to the neck in water and is unable to touch the ground (Masumoto et al 2017). It is used by elite athletes in a variety of situations: as a rehabilitation technique, allowing the athlete to maintain their cardiovascular fitness whilst injured, as a form of active recovery, increasing heart rate helping to increase blood flow to muscles, and also in addition to a regular training programme, allowing more cardiovascular training without excess strain on joints and muscles from the impact forces of running. A flotation belt is normally used to carry out deep water training in order to copy the style used by the runner on land (Kilgore). The use of deep water running is advantageous to an athlete, less pressure is placed upon their joints and spine allowing them to increase training volume without increasing the risk of injury. Meanwhile the recovery process from the athletes major training sessions can also be sped up by deep water running allowing the athlete to train under less fatigue in future sessions. Deep water running can however provide some disadvantages to an athlete who uses it. To achieve the same benefits from a training session they must work at a greater perceived effort. • 29. The Poverty Of New Zealand You would like to believe that New Zealand, a well developed country, is a great place for children to live. For most of us that is true however there is still a concerning amount of children who live in poverty. Since the late 1980 s and early 1990 s there has been an increase in child poverty of around 15 percent (Boston, 2014). Currently the New Zealand government spends up to ten billion dollars a year on attempting to solve child poverty and yet still as many as 25 percent of children, which is roughly about 270,000 children, currently live in poverty in New Zealand, (Expert Advisory Group on solutions to Child Poverty (EAG), 2012), (Boston McIntosh, 2012). Poverty in New Zealand means experiencing hunger, food insecurity, reduced life expectancy, poor health outcomes, debt, inability to afford required medical care, unaffordable or crowded housing and not being able to fully participate in society (Haultain, 2012). This is an issue that urgently needs to be resolved as poverty can have some serious negative impacts on people s lives. (EAG, 2012). While Maori are represented within all socioeconomic areas of New Zealand society, Maori are currently over represented in poverty statistics. Maori children are far more likely to be exposed to the impacts and effects of poverty than the average child. (Simpson, Duncanson, Oben, Wicken Pierson. 2015). If we really think about it, everyone who is not Native American is an immigrant (or has descended from an immigrant). In light of the prosperity of the United States today, to which immigrants have contributed in no small amount, it is interesting to think about Joseph Carens idea of open borders. While this is a one off case, thousands of Mexican citizens try to cross the border into the United States everyday.
