Conflict in the Emerald Isle Essay
Conflict in the Emerald Isle
The island of Ireland is known for many things: St. Patrick s Day, its green landscape, music, beer,
and discord. The heart of this conflict began centuries ago, when Britain came over and forced
Protestantism on the Irish Catholic inhabitants. There has always been hatred between the Irish
Protestants and Catholics. The island is broken up into to distinct regions. The Republic of Ireland
consists of 26 counties, which make up the southern region. This area is predominantly Roman
Catholic. Northern Ireland is made up of the 6 northern counties, which are under British rule. This
area is predominately Protestant. The conflict between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland
is based ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This upset a majority of the Irish citizens, whom happened to be predominately Catholic, who felt
that they were just that, citizens of Ireland, not subjects of England. They wanted the right to
govern freely without British interference. There were, however, supporters of this act as well.
These Unionists or Loyalists were made up largely of Protestants. They gladly welcomed the power
of the British crown because they felt that they were truly British citizens not Irish citizens.
While under British rule the Catholics were subjected to discriminating laws such as: they were not
allowed to bear arms, hold public office, and were restricted in their right to an education. The laws
have been lifted the tension still remains between the Catholics and the Protestants (Ito 1). There
were still those who were pushing for Home Rule and the Protestants vowed to resist the movement
with violence (Ito 1). However this movement never amounted to much.
In 1920 the Government of Ireland Act separated the island into north and south. In 1921 these
two sections would become known as the Irish Free State, or the Republic of Ireland and Northern
Ireland. The Republic of Ireland is composed of the 26 southern counties of Ireland and controlled
by the parliament of Ireland. The remaining 6 counties in the north of Ireland make up Northern
Ireland, which is controlled by Britain. This was intended to be a compromise between

Purpose Of Immortality In Ancient Egyptian Religion
Purpose of Immortality Out of all things, there is usually one aspect of life that may bring people
together and bring consistency to their lives religion. There are a wide variety of different
religions, yet many of them contain overlapping beliefs and concepts, including life after death, and
it does not matter whether or not these religions are monotheistic or polytheistic. As a result, people
may have a general notion of death, however, what many do not realize is that these religions
support the idea of immortality. Although there is a contradiction when religions tell people that
death is inevitable yet that they are also immortal, it is true because many religions have the idea of
life after death, proving that immortality exists.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That being said, it is clear to see that Ancient Egyptians did believe in immortality, but to add to
this, the fact that one of the many death rites includes mummification, further extends the concept
of immortality because of the fact that the purpose of it is to preserve the bodies. On another
note, The Book of the Dead provided instructions and access to magical power to assist the
deceased in his passage to the afterlife and in his existence there (184). This is because of the fact
that living well off was a very important aspect of the Ancient Egyptian religion. They wanted their
paradise and afterlife to seem appealing because they do not want people to not enjoy themselves
once they have died. It is very important to them to keep these souls content and happy for a reason,
hence the fact that they have offerings for the dead. With this, they are able to keep the faith in
happiness after death alive, to help them understand death

Asian Culture And Cultural Identity
Christina To
Mr Nguyen

13 October 2017
Cultural Identity Culture plays a big part on how you are as a person. A person beliefs are made
up by their own unique cultural identity. Identity is what makes you who you are as person, and
how does it defines you. Your identity doesn t have to be just your ethnicity or how you look like, it
s way much more than that. While my culture is mixed with American and Asian aspects, Asian
culture is most influential in my life because it helps me be motivated in school, affect my views
on religion, and makes me have good deportment. Asian culture motivates me in school because
their expectations push me to a higher standard. Most Asian parents would only expect a 4.0
GPA from their kids, and nothing lower. Their beliefs are that, if you get high grades, you will
be successful. You could become a doctor, engineer, lawyer, and so much more. Unlike most
American cultures, making money is the most important thing to Asians. If you have the right
education, you would make a lot of money. With money, you could do anything, money is power.
My parents would always say that if you have money, no one would ever make fun of you. They
would give me life lessons, and compare me to other family members that are successful, and say
that I have to be exactly like them. They would also talk to me about their history. How tough it
was for them, how they had to drop out of school because their family was poor, and how they
never got

Introduction
One of the utmost gratifying aspects of collecting vinyl is building an extensive collection of
records from distinct era s and decades. As you read through the history of vinyl you will be
presented with insight magnifying your ability to identify and understand information with
regards to vinyl pressings from as early as the 1900s. This chapter not only riffles through a
variety of record facts that will bring the newbie record collector up to speed, but also contains
intriguing knowledge and stories even the fanatical record collectors are expectedly unaware of.

In the 1988 McDonald s held a Flexi Disc contest that gave 1 lucky winner a million dollars!
Chances of winning were only 1 in 80,000,000 but this campaign drew momentary attention.
Flexi discs were also common additions to cereal boxes. Kids could cut out an Archie Comic on the
back of their Super Sugar Crisps or a Kiss Flexi with their Kiss Krunch cereal. Regardless of the
fact that Flexi Disc releases can be designed for fun and creative purposes, they are easily worn out,
warp and bend and are therefore were not in reality favored.
Unusual, Obscure and Creative Records Over the years, an abundance of obscure and unique
records have been pressed using strange color combinations and unexpected materials. Here are a
few memorable pressings.
X ray Records
During the 1950s in the Soviet Union x rays were brought about to duplicate banned music. Using
X rays discarded from hospitals, a bootlegger would cut them into circles, create a hole in the
center by burning the x ray with a cigarette, and imprint music onto them. X ray records are an item
that is hunted for and collected by particular vinyl

Costco Inventory Management
Costco s inventory management strategy focuses on three main points: (a) point of sales system
(POS), (b) vendor managed inventory and (c) low volume of stock keeping units. Costco takes aid
from innovative inventory system that provides real time inventory information called
Collaborative Retail Exchange (CRX). The system monitors and re orders at the optimum inventory
as part of the continuous re order system. The CRX system analyses the sales for the previous
weeks and inventory level which acts as information to the suppliers. Costco Wholesale follows a
Bulk buying strategy. It aims at selling products in large volume and comparatively low prices.

Walmart s approach means frequent, informal cooperation among stores, distribution centres and
suppliers and less centralized control. The company s supply chain allowed consumers to
effectively pull merchandise to stores rather than having the company push goods onto shelves by
tracking customer purchases and demand. Through the use of universal product codes,
implementation of Retail links at the store, use of RFIDs and smart tags, suppliers and
manufacturers within the supply chain synchronize their demand forecaste under a collaborative
planning, forecasting and replenishment scheme, and every link in the chain was connected
through technology that includes a central database, store level point of sale systems, and a satellite
network. As per report, there was a 16% reduction in out of stocks with the use of RFIDs and
pointed out that the products using an electronic product code were replenished three times as fast
as items that only used bar code technology. These strategies have made Walmart to be the

Our lives are busy, and this fast paced lifestyle also means that we have to eat our meals faster.
Fast food is a great alternative to making food at home because all you have to do is go through a
drive thru, wait for a few minutes, and you have a meal.
The most evident advantage of fast food is that it saves time. In today s fast paced life, there is
nothing better than getting a ready meal. Besides the time an individual has to spend in the
kitchen, cooking a meal also requires one to make a trip to the supermarket to buy the
ingredients for the food. Then there is the added effort and time consumed in washing and
peeling the vegetables. All this makes eating fast food score more preferably over cooking a
meal for a busy individual. Besides time, cost saving gives fast food an edge over the meal
prepared in the kitchen. If one lives alone, then it is cheaper to buy a meal at the supermarket
instead of cooking it at home.
McDonald s, however, does have quite a few healthy choices in their menu. They also have a lot of
foods that are vegetarian.
McDonalds has a lot of other advantages:
wide rage of goods and services;
availability of goods and services. With McDonalds every person is welcome to come in and eat,
no matter what you look like or how much money you have. There is also not a certain dress code
that you have to oblige to.
they also provide many people with job opportunities. Many would say McDonalds is a great place

Alternative Reality In Allen Moore s Watchmen
In Allen Moore s Graphic novel, Watchmen, he explores what life might have been like if the
United States of America had won the Vietnam War. When the nations lost, it made a lot of people
question ask the question, are we really the good guys? In this time period, the country starts to see
traditional conservative values change. Women s liberation and awareness of drugs begins.
However, in the alternative reality, none of these things happen. Americans continue to believe that
everything is being done right. The characters that Moore has created lets us see the issues of not
only this alternative reality, but also the present one. An analysis is done on each character to
explain further the corruption of America. Edward Blake, otherwise known

Real Estate Debate
Probate real estate investing refers to purchasing property from estates held in probate. When a
person dies all of their assets, including real estate, are transferred to probate. Depending on the
complexities and circumstances, probate can last between six months to three years. If the decedent
has an outstanding mortgage on their real estateholdings, the estateis responsible for making
payments. Insurance, taxes and utilities must be paid through the estate, as well as property
maintenance. Probatereal estate investing provides an option to beneficiaries who are struggling to
make ends meet. This is particularly true for estates which are managed by a probate executor who
resides out of town. Property maintenance and mortgage payments... Show more content on

Many sellers/buyers that have had bad experiences with amateur real estate agents have the
conceptions that all agents are the same. I have compiled this list on the best actions you should
perform before hiring any agent. 1.Real estate agents and Realtors are not the same. Realtors are
licensed to sell properties by the national association of Realtors (NAR). Realtors also have to
sign a list of 17 articles containing the standards of practice they must follow making them
slightly more trustworthy than a real estate agent. 2. Ask people in your neighborhood for
recommendations, if you have any friends that have recently moved in a new house ask them
about their experience with their agent. Client testimonials can be one of the best ways to find
out information about your agent. You can also ask your previous real estate agents for referrals,
agents usually connect with each other which means that they know which ones are the best in
the business. 3. Take your time before you select which agent you want to hire, choosing your
agent s in a haste can be a big mistake. Many people make the mistake that when they are looking
for fast sale they hire the first real estate agent they can find thinking it would save them some
time, this conceptions is very wrong as many real estate agents take months to sell a property. 5.

Troilus wasn t the person to be open and honest about his love for a woman. He was the kind of
person to hide behind the sort of feelings he had because of the kind of person that he was. He
mocked and made fun of love affairs of others because he is as I would say a little jealous of them.
He first sees Criseyde at the temple of Athena. He just falls in lovewith her. At first Troilus hides
his love for Criseyde because he doesn t want to be the people that he had made fun of. Criseyde
didn t know that Troilus had a crush on her because he didn t tell her and he kept his love a
secret. Even though he had kept it a secret he really wanted her because he was in love with her.

Troilus was not being reasonable or honest in the way he could have been about the feelings he had
for Criseyde. The God of Love gave him the desire so his feelings might be a bit crowded for her
but I do believe he had some of his own among them. Courtly love I believe is different then what
Troilus and Criseyde are doing at this time. They were like Romeo and Juliet in many of ways they
hid it. When you are courting someone it goes differently as you ask the father or both of the
parents permission before anything happens with the daughter.
Calchas who is Criseyde s father had persuaded the Greeks to release Antenor a prisoner of war
for Criseyde. Hector of Troy objects to this and so does Troilus but he doesn t say anything.
Troilus says that they should run off and get married but Criseyde doesn t think that would work
and offers a reason as to why. Criseyde had then promised to deceive her father and says she will
return to Troy in ten days. Troilus had left her with a sense of something bad happening. When
Criseyde arrives with the Greeks she believes that she will not be able to keep her promise to
Troilus.
Criseyde realizes that she probably won t keep her promise to Troilus. After a while she writes
dismissively in her letters to Troilus. She then accepts a meeting with Diomede and listens him
speak of love and then she becomes his lover just like that. While this is happening Troilus is

However, Freud often clashed with those supporters who criticized his theories, the most famous of
whom was Carl Jung. Part of the disagreement between them was due to Jung s interest in and
commitment to spirituality and occultism, which Freud saw as unscientific. Freud s medical
reputation became somewhat tarnished. After the Cocaine Episode , Freud ceased to publicly
recommend use of the drug, but continued to take it himself occasionally for depression,
migraine and nasal inflammation during the early 1890s, before giving it up in 1896. As a
medical researcher, Freud was an early user and proponent of cocaine as a stimulant as well as
analgesic. He believed that cocaine was a cure for many mental and physical problems, and in
his 1884 paper On Coca he extolled its virtues. It has been suggested that much of Freud s early
psychoanalytical theory was a by product of his cocaine use. This is the reason I am a follower

Privateering and its Impact on the American Revolution
Privateering and Its Impact on the American Revolution Emma Utesch History 201 122 September

ships from abroad during war time. 1During the Revolutionary War, privateer ships would receive

There are also several people that joined the privateer movement that were younger and wouldn t
have been let in the Navy. An example of is James Forten, an African American who joined the
crew on the privateering ship the Royal Lewis when he was fourteen as a powder boy.5 He was
given this opportunity because the privateers did not have as many restrictions on clientele as
the Navy did; it is highly probable that James Forten would not have been able to join the
Continental Navy because of his age and his race. Forten invented a new type of sail that was
better for maneuvering and for maintaining higher speeds for a longer stretch of time. Even
though he did not patent his product, it became the most widely used and prosperous sail in
Philadelphia. James Forten s innovations involving sails have influenced sailing technologies
even to this day. The fortune he made by doing this was substantial for any man, black or white.
After his privateering days, he devoted more than half of his fortune to abolitionist causes. He
frequently purchases slaves freedom, opened his home as an Underground Railroad Depot, and
started a school for black children. Overall, American privateer ships overtook and raided roughly

The New City of Culture Initiative
INTRODUCTION
The objective of this report is to inform about the new City of Culture initiative and to outline what
it means for Limerick City as a cultural location, now and in the future. Limerick City is the first
city in Ireland to hold the title of National City of Culture, which was launched as part of a new
cultural initiative by Minister for Arts and Heritage, Jimmy Deenihan, and the Government. A city
in Ireland will be selected as a National City of Culture every two years, with the designation itself
lasting a full calendar year. The aim of the initiative is to deliver a program of cultural events for
that year with the hope that it will have a long term positive effect on the chosen city.
FINDINGS
The appointment of Limerick as the first National City of Culture in 2014 is an important
opportunity to enhance the city s image. Following the launch of the initiative, Limerick City and
County Councils brought together a team to deliver a high quality program of events which lead
to the appointment of the city as the City of Culture for 2014. Promoting knowledge and
awareness of the culture in Limerick is an important part of cultural development, providing a link
between the city s past and future. Appreciation of the unique culture of Limerick leads to a sense
of identity and belonging among the community. This, in turn, has a positive effect on the quality
of life of the people of Limerick and the city s visitors. Local artists, organisations and civic groups

Creatinine, a breakdown product of creatine phosphate, is a waste product excreted through urine.
Since, depending on muscle mass, age, sex, diet and exercise, creatinine is produced at a fairly

The absorption of light by normal bilirubin (4Z,15Z bilirubin) results in the creation of 2 isomeric
forms of bilirubin: structural isomer (Z lumirubin) and configurational isomer (4Z,15 E bilirubin).
Both these structural and configurational isomers of bilirubin have substantially different chemical
and light absorption properties than bilirubin, are less lipophilic than normal bilirubin and can be
excreted into bile without undergoing glucuronidation in the liver. The absorption of light by
bilirubin also results in the generation of excited state bilirubin molecules that react with oxygen to
produce colorless oxidation, or photooxidation products. The rate of formation of bilirubin
photoproducts is highly dependent on the intensity and wavelengths of the light used (13). The
most efficient wavelength for the isomerization of bilirubin is approximately 450 nm, whether
applied to the fluid samples for testing or the treatment of jaundice. Wavelengths that fall within
the range of 400 nm 500 nm, and more specifically 445 nm 475 nm are known to effect
isomerization (14). The blue lights are chosen for light emission wavelengths of approximately 450
to 530 nm, which is the optimal range of light absorption for bilirubin. In contrast, the optimal range

The Location Of An Ecosystem
Location The location of an ecosystem affects its functioning. At a global scale, latitude,
distance from the sea and altitude play decisive roles in determining climate and ultimately the
nature of particular ecosystems. The Great Barrier Reef is found along the Queensland
coastline. It stretches as far north as Papa New Guinea, 8o South Latitude, to just above (north)
of Fraser Island, 24o South Latitude, (an approximate 2300 Km stretch). There are four main
regions along the Great Barrier Reef. These are The Northern, Central, Mackay, and Southern
Region. The Great Barrier Reef also has continuity both geographically and temporally. Reef
drilling data has proved that the reef in the north is 1km to 2km s thick and existed about 15
million years ago. However the southern region of the reef is much thinner at only 120 meters
thick and younger at only about 2 million years. Due to this location the corals which require a

areas of the sea where the water temperature does not fall below 17 degrees Celsius and doesn t

as elevated levels stunt coral growth and low levels will result in the zooxanthellae dying. Thus

Keurig at Home: Managing a New Product Launch
Question 1
Keurig should launch the Keurig Cup in the at home market and continue to use the K Cup in the
commercial market. The reasons of separating these two series are listed as follows:
a. Protect the benefits of KAD and Roasters.
Keurig should insist on their plan to launch the new Keurig Cup even if the GMCR holds the
opposite view since it can protect the profits of KAD and roasters when new products are
introduced to the market. If Keurig differentiates the at home market from office market, the
previous office brewer users could not go to the direct commercial channel to purchase K Cups at

6 9.Agree for investments in bonds. GASB standards require all long term investments, including
investments in debt securities, to be reported at fair value on the balance sheet date. All changes in
fair value during the period, both realized and unrealized, are reported as revenue in the operating
statement.
6 10.Advance refunding may be desirable when the interest rate on outstanding debt is
considerably higher than current interest rates. If the old debt issue is defeased, (either legal or
in substance ), GASB standards permit the liability for the old issue to be removed from the
accounts and the reporting of only the liability for the new (refunding) issue. Legal defeasance
occurs when debt is legally satisfied based on certain provisions in the debt instrument even
though the debt is not actually paid. In substance defeasance occurs when debt is considered
defeased for accounting and financial reporting purposes even though it has been neither legally
defeased nor paid. In order for debt to be in substance defeased, GASB standards require that the
debtor place cash or other essentially risk free assets in an irrevocable trust with an escrow agent.
The amount, timing, and collection of interest and principal on the trust assets must be such that

Debussy Music
In the music Debussy composed, all instruments were called upon to share the innovations of his
creative art, but only the piano was truly capable of incorporating his ideas. For this there were two
reasons. First, the piano, being an instrument of harmony and of tonal blending rather than one of
simple melodic statement, was the natural medium for experimentation in a personal art built upon
harmony and tone blending. Second, the piano, in spite of all that had been accomplished for it by
several generations of exploiting virtuosi, was still capable of gradations of color and nuances of
accentuation that had been ignored or perhaps more correctly, used only sparingly by the high
riding masters of its sonorities.
As a pianist, his compositional blending had little of the symphonic essence of orchestral music. It
was said that he was endeavoring to make the piano not the piano. ... Show more content on

His teacher Marmontel is quoted as saying Debussy isn t very fond of the piano, but he loves
music. From this one may gather that even at the Conservatoire Debussy was aware of the
limitations of the instrument. There are descriptions of him launching himself at the piano,
overdoing every effect, as though moved by a deep hatred. On the other hand Fargue
remembered his playing in the 1890s he cradled it [the piano], talked softly to it, like a rider to
his horse, a shepherd to his flock or a thresher to his oxen. It is significant that on this occasion he
was performing the uncompleted score of Pelleas. Among the varied accounts of his playing,
agreement is reached on only two points: that it was like nobody else s, and that it had about it an
orchestral quality. At all events, the two approaches outlined above, at the extremes of boldness and
refinement, both display and unwillingness to treat the piano as it had been treated in the past, and
a determination to subdue it to his

Ancient Egyptian Pyramids Architecture
The Ancient Egyptian pyramids are engineering marvels that continue to astonish both past and
modern day historians and scholars with its incredible architectural feats. Behind the magnificent
creations was a group that employed their knowledge of advanced mathematics and building
techniques to create such an impressive subject of wonder. The mystery involving the work needed
physically to produce this structural behemoth remains a popular topic of discussion between
historians and engineers who seek to unlock the secrets of the pyramids architecture. Arguments
have been made that different types of rollers, ramps, and even poles have been used to move the
material that the pyramids are made of. However, by using the process of... Show more content on

Moreover, the pyramids boasted several other astronomical and geographical equivalents in its
architecture: The Great Pyramid s sides were aligned with each cardinal direction, with the
North side facing true north with only 3/60th degree of error. There was also a possibility that
the pyramids could be used as a sort of astronomical calendar as well. The spring equinox was
marked when no shadow was cast by the Great Pyramid due to its latitude and angle
(Crystalinks). In order to build these massive structures, there were several possible techniques
employed to lift, transport, and place the large limestone blocks that the pyramids were
comprised. The most probable method of transit being that the Egyptians pulled the materials on
sleds of cedar wood along oil or water dampened sand or rails (Baldridge 1). Other theories
discussed included the conjecture of John D. Bush (1977), who assumed that the blocks were
rolled using cut out circular segments. For the purpose of lifting the blocks, a complex system
of levers utilizing counterweights and ramps were most likely used (Baldridge 1996); however,
arguments can be made for the use of one large ramp wrapping around the Great Pyramid
(Hadingham p 51) as performed by Mark Lehner, an archaeologist. While several theories of
construction of the pyramids have been made, a notable theory was found in an engineer s belief
that circular wedges surrounding the blocks were used

The Importance Of The Right To Bear Arms On College Arms
On December 15, 1791, the United States Congress ratified ten constitutional amendments that were
intended to limit and protect citizens from each other and the federal government. Among those ten
amendments, the second amendment grants states the right to establish a well regulated militia as
necessary to ensure the security of its citizens. By doing so, the federal government and state
governments shall not infringe the right of the people to keep and bear arms. Paradoxically,
legislators managed to infringe, redefine, and pose restrictions on the initial amendment.
Specifically, there are restrictions that limit the ability to carry concealed weapons on college
campuses. Recent events, such as the mass murders of college students by gunmen, have occurred
due to the neglectful actions of legislators. For instance, On April 16, 2007, a senior student at
Virginia Polytechnic University went on a shooting rampage on campus and killed thirty two
people before committing suicide. It is obvious that these open carry restrictions create an easy
target for gunmen, as thousands of college students are vulnerable to attacks. Louisiana is among
those states that have concealed carry laws established to make the concealment of firearms on
college campuses illegal. Louisiana State University ranks first in size and student population in
Louisiana. In comparison to Virginia Polytechnic University, the students at LSU are potentially in
danger of gunmen. There is a common belief that

Characteristics Of An Anglo-Saxon Hero In Beowulf
Debi Mazar once said, A hero is somebody who is selfless, who is generous in spirit, who tries to
give back as much as possible and help people. A hero to me is someone who saves people and
someone who really deeply cares. In Beowulf, the Unknown Author of this Anglo Saxon poem,
explains the battle between good and evil. An Anglo Saxon Hero is someone who is loyal, who
has honor and respect, they don t do things for rewards because they ll have that sense of justice
which is just as good. They are never concerned with themselves but the wellbeing of everyone
around them and that s what makes them so great, their selfless acts change lives for the better.
Beowulfexemplifies the characteristics of an Anglo Saxon Hero because he shows bravery and
courage in a way nobody else does, he is honored by all and is beyond selfless.
First of all, Beowulf shows courage and bravery on his way to find Grendel and battle him. He
runs after him to find out where Grendel is going and why he won t let him battle, this shows
bravery because most people don t run towards danger and Beowulf did exactly that. Beowulf
runs towards danger throughout the entire poem, for example in the text it says, Have watched
me rise from the darkness of war. Dripping with my enemy s blood. I drove five great giants into
chains, chased all that raced from the earth, I swam in the blackness of night, hunting monsters
out of the ocean and killing them one by one. (247 254). This is a great quote because it shows
how it takes a great amount of bravery to battle someone that has greater than or equal strength
compared to himself,(Beowulf) with it being night time it was hard to see let alone battle
monsters. Another example of Beowulf showing courage is when he says, He needs no
weapons and fears none. Nor will I. My lord Higlac might think less of me if I let my sword go
where my feet were afraid to... (263 264) because this shows that he doesn t like an unfair fight
and believes whatever his opponent has to fight with he should have the same because that s what a
fair fight consist of.
Additionally, a person that has honor is someone who has an obligation to fulfil and they always
keep an agreement. At the beginning of the poem Beowulf was

Persuasive Essay About Food Bank
Food banks are a terrible solution to a terrible issue. Hunger is one of the biggest issues the
human race experiences. One in nine people in the world, or 795 million people, out of the 7.4
billion people go hungry every day because they do not have enough to eat. Every 10 seconds, a
child dies from hunger related diseases (The Hunger Project, 2017). The way lots of organizations
try to help these people in need are through food banks. A food bankis a non profit, charitable
organization that distributes to those who have difficulty purchasing enough food to avoid hunger.
Food banks are inefficient in aspects of time, money, and effort because so much more can be done
through donations of money, not non perishable foods and items.... Show more content on

Another issue arises though, it needs to be transported from the warehouse to the appropriate
drop off place, which is most likely in a high density residential area, not an industrial area. The
time it takes for all this to happen is simply too much and non efficient. We are in an era where
time is valuable. Everyone is so busy with their lives, be it for work, school, family, or hobbies, it
is unnecessary to spend all this time just to donate something that not even the buyer would eat.
To show an example, let s say a donator s name is David. David works a 9 5 job which pays $20
per hour and has three kids, two of which have swimming practice after school. David picks up
his kids at 5:30, and goes home right in time for dinner. On his dinner table, he has high quality
foods that are packed with nutrients. David remembers there s a food drive raffle near his
workplace that is looking for donations for a chance to win a grand prize. David now has to go
out of his way to go to a grocery store to buy non perishable foods. Instead of wasting his time
going, he can go to the food bank and simply donate money. If David was planning on spending
$5 and 45 minutes for the whole process, from purchasing the items to dropping them off, he
actually spent $20 plus a few extra dollars for gas. Instead of wasting 45 minutes of his time to get
$5 worth of food, he could easily have donated $25, which go a long way. This will be explained
later, but

The Evolution Of The 1960s Protest Song
The evolution of the 1960s protest song has typically been associated with Joni Mitchell, but the
expanding range of protest songs in the 1970s defines her continued presence as a leader in terms
of environmental activism. More than just a vestige of the late 1960s, Mitchell continued to write
protest songs long after many other artists from the 1960s had changed their lyrical content. In the
mellow turn of early 1970s country rock and folk music, Mitchell represented a new environmental
shift that moved away from the proto typical antiwar songs of the 1960s. Mitchell, along with other
musicians of this era, defined a shifting musical focus on songwriting and musical presentation
during the early 1970as:
The early to mid 1970s would become known for a mellow turn toward country rock, production
heavy supergroups, and envieronmental songs like Big Yellow Taxi(1970). Even the Beach Boys
took their turn at envieronmental critique, releasing Don t Go Near the Water in 1971 (Weglarz
xviii).
In this musical critique, the soft rock appeal of Mitchell s song represented a shift away from the
hard rock sound of the 1960s, but with the gritty directness of lyrics that challenged the chemical
pollution of DDT usage in modern farming techniques. The hard edge of envieronmental critiques
was certain masked by the gentle nature of Mitchell s voice, but the reality of chemical engineering
as a threat to the environment is interjected through her flowing melodic structures:

Personally, I believe the packaging of the truffles is not fully understandable because red does
denote something hot, while the other flavors wrappers don t fully translate to being hot and

also in a plastic bag if the customer chose to purchase the truffles on the Cowgirl Chocolates

A. How should the Cash Flows be valued for 2008 2012?
The calculation of each cash flow required us to use the projections from AirThread Connections

The recommendation that AirThread Connections value to debt ratio would not be exceeding
50.0% was an important factor so it was logical to use an industry average for value to debt ratio
which is 30.3% given in the Exhibit 7 of the case. The next assumption we made was that our risk
free rate would be equal to the current 30 years which is 3.10 %. Competitors Unlevered Asset Beta
The Cost of Equity is not given so to calculate it, we needed to use the Capital Asset Pricing
Model (CAPM) but we were lacking the average industry beta. Meaning we had to obtain it by
calculating each competitor s unlevered beta and averaging them to obtain the overall beta.
Unlevered Asset Beta | Equity Beta| (Industry Average)| (Used for CAPM)| 0.8| 1.15|
Weighted Average Cost of Capital
Assuming that the AirThread Connection s ratios for the upcoming years will be similar to that of
its competitors we used the industry average.

How Did Alexis De Tocqueville Influence Town Government
Alexis de Tocqueville s Influence
Alexis de Tocqueville s observation of the American prison system brought out several interesting
facts about America and how it governs itself. He talks of the danger of greed for money, the
importance of forming associations, and the power of influence in town government. Although
many of his observations have since changed, many of them bring about legitimate points about
American government and society.
In de Tocquevilles book Democracy in America, he is quoted as saying, ...I know of no other

I believe we have been successful as a country in doing this. We have learned that we must rely on
one another in order to meet all of our needs to the best of our own abilities.
de Tocqueville also points out how powerful personal influence can be in town government.
Consider his quote, In towns it is impossible to prevent men from assembling, getting excited
together and forming sudden passionate resolves. Towns are like great meeting houses with all the
inhabitants as members. In them the people wield immense influence over their magistrates and
often carry their desires into execution without intermediaries. He is pointing out that local
government will almost always find ways to get around larger government because of the
immediate interest of residents. In reality, it is the people that run the government because they
have the ability to remove elected representatives if they aren t getting things done the way the
people want. The problem is, many people fail to realize this fact and just don t vote. The want to
blame the problems of the country on the elected officials although they are the ones that did, or in
some cases, did not, vote for the person who will make the voice of the people heard.
I think overall, de Tocqueville s view of America was right on key with many of my personal
views. I agree

Neurologist Antonio Damasio has written significantly on Gage and other patients that he studied

The Raven Edgar Allan Poe Analysis
The poem The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe can be interpreted in many different ways. In my
opinion, the poem tells of a woman that was very important in his life. The raven in the poem is his
representation of the constant reminder that his lost loved one named Lenore is gone. There is a lot
of evidence that supports this claim throughout the poem that Poe uses. The narrator in The Ravenis
grieving the death of a woman named Lenore. However, in the poem, we do not know who Lenore
is to him but we can guess that she had an impact on his life such as that of a mother or girl that

He needs to let go of the death of her but just like the raven, it is lingering around him causing
him more sorrow. Nevertheless, the bird hangs around him just like his depression about his
loss relating the raven to the death of Lenore, or death in general. When the narrator keeps
hearing the raven say, Nevermore he thinks maybe that this is the only word that the bird
knows. Then as he sits and the raven remains he thinks more and speaks, Other friends have
flown before On the morrow he will leave me, as my hopes have flown before. In this quote, the
narrator is referring to his hopes that maybe one day Lenore will return, but those thoughts have
left him which is causing him to feel so lonely and sad about her death. When the narrator
realizes that the raven is not leaving, he then decides to try and figure out what exactly is the
meaning of its appearance and it only speaking the word nevermore. He concludes that maybe the
bird came from an angry owner making the bird sad like him and causing it to repeat that word.
The way the narrator describes the bird in the next lines of the poem point toward the true meaning
of it, he uses terms such as, grim, ungainly, ghastly, gaunt, and ominous... (Poe, Line 71). It is at
this moment when the narrator s mood darkens even more and he connects the raven fully to
Lenore. The way the bird is looking at him makes him think about the word nevermore in a

The Hound Of The Baskervilles By Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Literature has been the gateway to imagination and curiosity of the human mind. It enables
people to see the world through the perspective of another. As one dives deeper into a novel, they
begin a journey through each page of an experience like no other. While literature is ultimately
just written words on a page, one can visualize themselves in a totally different world, yet still be
in the comfort of their own home just by the power of imagination that is presented with a novel.
Most specifically with classic literature, it portrays life from the period in which it was written in
but still stands the test in time and has that timeless feel to it. A prime example of this category of
literature is the mystery novel, The Hound of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is without a doubt that these individual characters will permanently remain close to the hearts of
each reader in some way. For instance, the narrator in the story Dr. Watson has a true desire to
impress his superior partner Sherlock Holmes. However, on several occasions Watson is simply
hidden in the shadows of Holmes and is almost just left out of the detection despite his constant
drive to prove he can keep up with Holmes s intelligence. Though he is the detective s partner,
Watson is often excluded in Holmes s problem solving. In the quote I wanted to give up
searching, but then I would have been recognized as Holmes only weakness (Ch 4, Pg 37). Dr.
Watson is struggling to solve the case but he realizes if he does give up, he will be thought as
the weak link between the pair and does not want to let his partner down as well. Many readers
can relate to this feeling of neglect or just not being good enough at one point in their life. It is a
very negative feeling and the reader can feel that sense of sympathy and understanding for Watson s
situation. In addition, the main protagonist Sherlock Holmes is a very respected person in the
novel and other characters do not even have the ability to maintain simple conversation with him
because of his intellectual dominance. However, in the quote, He burst into one of his rare fits of
laughter...I have not heard him

The Red Guard Group Analysis
What do Girl Scout troops and the Chinese Red Guard groups have in common? At first glance,
there may not be any clear similarities. Girl Scouts are known for selling cookies and helping the
elderly; the Red Guard consisted of Communist teenagers who want to do away with outdated
Chinese culture and traditions. However, if one disregards the surface levels details, there are
fundamental similarities between the two groups: both were popular youth organizations that had a
sense of influence in the community (by selling Samoas or writing dazibaos) and that offered a
sense of community and belonging for the teenagers involved. These two aspects are catnip to
teenagers; hey can make young girls strap on their sashes and Chinese youth fight the... Show more

They might say that the teenagers fundamentally agreed with the strategies and ideas of Mao and
all wanted to work together to make the dreams a reality. However, this argument is false due to
the fact that just because the youth were swept up in the Cultural Revolution, does not mean they
understood what was happening. In fact, it was very unlikely that they did. In Document D, Fan
Cao discusses her overwhelming ignorance of the matter at hand when she wrote, In fact, we [the
Red Guard] did not even understand what revolution was and how other people in the world really
lived... Cao s quote provides evidence that the vast majority of the Red Guard did not fully
comprehend the severity of the issue of the Cultural Revolution, leading them to offer support for a
cause they do not fully understand. The argument that the teenagers understood and fully agreed
with Mao s cause is extremely unrealistic, as in all likelihood, the youth were unaware of the actual

Hbr Ashmark Essay example
Q1: What were the key issues with Red Star, Ashmark and their relationship that led to this
situation? Red Star Key Issues: Inferior Company Leadership President Barry Louden failed to
manage the business at a high level, recognize the warning signs, and proactively deploy a strategy
for improvement. He fired his accountant and allowed the company to flounder, displaying no
sense of urgency, taking on increasing amounts of debt, and failing to reach out to Ashmark for
help until it was too late. Lack of Transparency Because RS was a private company and did not

Had both of these courses of action been properly discussed and challenged before an ultimate
decision, Ashmark could have saved itself much heartache. Absence of Risk Assessment Early
Detection Measures No mechanisms were in place to adequately gauge the risks of doing
business with RS or detect financial issues even though Ashmark had employees on site at RS.
Had Ashmark assessed and weighed risks properly, it s unlikely that it would have placed all
emphasis on price and put 75% of its spend with a single company. Additionally, the fact that RS s
other customers bailed 6 months prior to the company s bankruptcy announcement (likely to due
price increases resulting from Ashmark s demands for lower prices) should have raised alarm. As
a result of failure to assess risk and late detection, Ashmark s actions in the end were too little too
late. Relationship Issues: Poor Communication Coordination Overall, it s fair to characterize the
relationship between Ashmark and RS as dysfunctional interdependence. The companies failed to
develop the close communication and coordination necessary to ensure two way success. Ashmark
was careless in its relationship management of what should have been a mutually beneficial
strategic partnership with RS, and RS chose not to express the adverse impact of Ashmark s
decisions or the severity of its issues so

The Price Of Gasoline Prices
In the last ten years, gasoline prices have been increasing in Canada. Consumer spending on
gasoline holds a large amount of total household expenditures. In 2009, the Consumer Price Index
(CPI) calculated on average that Canadians spent about six percent of their total household
budget on gasoline (Statistics Canada, 2013). Therefore, gasoline prices changes on consumer
price inflation. In order to make gasoline, crude oil and refineries are required. When examined,
gasoline and crude oil are two different commodities that can change through different market
factors (Pump Talk, 2008). As these factors take place, the costs are added towards the price of
gasoline. Even though Canada is a large net exporter of crude oil and owns almost half... Show

From different varieties and grades of crude oil, benchmarks are often used to set the prices. West
Texas Intermediate (WTI) and Brent are two crude benchmarks that Canadian refiners often
encounter. Brent is the leading global benchmark for crude oil prices because of its ability to ship
to practically any oil receiving marine terminal in the world (Statistics Canada, 2013). Any
geopolitical events that can possibly affect the supply and demand for crude oil will influence the
price. As a result, crude oil prices in Canada are affected by foreign and domestic issues. For
example, in 2005, Hurricane Katrina blocked oil production around the Southern Gulf Coast of the
United States. As the supply decreased and the demand remained the same, oil prices over a barrel
increased in a short period of time. President Bush sent thirty million barrels from the Strategic
Petroleum Reserve (SPR) to bring the oil price down (Oil Price, 2009). Political problems in the
Middle East have also caused many worries over the access of oil supply this region produces. In
2008, oil prices went over one hundred and thirty six dollars a barrel due to global concerns of the
wars happening in Iraq and Afghanistan (Oil Price, 2009). The oil prices increased because
buyers were afraid the oil was unable to be properly delivered. As these oil prices rise, consumers
cut back on driving to save money. This decreased demand, which also decreased the

Theme Of The Short Happy Life Of Francis Macomber
Hemingway repeatedly employs the word plenty to replace a description of what it is being
described. The question arises, is plenty enough? It reflects themes throughout his stories, through a
variety of emotions and descriptions. The lack of description around the word leads up to the
question of why it was used, and how Hemingway means to define it.
By stereotype, plenty is defined as adequate, possibly overabundant, supply of something. But
Hemingway, known as part of the twentieth century narrators for defying stereotypes of the 19th
century, highlighting the doubts and lack of faith, dampers this typical meaning. New but not
necessarily improved, plenty is used in the beginning of The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber
; A quid would be plenty, Wilson told him. You don t want to spoil them (Hemingway 1). Plenty
for the mess boy seems to be enough for him to survive, but not to live fully. Although spoiling is
not what defines living, the opposite of the spectruim, barely scraping by, does not either.
Similarly, in Big Two Hearted River, Nick describes his container for the grasshoppers, recounting
it as, It plugged the mouth of the bottle enough, so the hoppers could no get out and left plenty of
air passage (Hemingway 6). Once again, the grasshoppers could survive, able to breathe, but were
not able to escape their impending doom. For both the boy and the grasshoppers, a barrier is
blocking them from being naturally happy and content with their lives.

The Sport Of Football
Football is one of the most watched sports in the United States, but it is believed to have
descended from the ancient Greek game of harpaston. Harpaston was played by a player
crossing a goal line by either kicking the ball, running with it across the goal line or throwing it
across the line to another player to earn points. Harpaston had very few rules: there was no
specific field length, no sideline boundaries, and no specified number of players per team. Most
modern forms of football are believed to originate from England during the 12th century where
kings from that time banned football because they believed it took away from the traditional sports
of England ( A Brief History ). When football first started in the United States in November... Show

Great Depression 2008 Essay
History has shown us again, and again that when power is left unchecked it becomes corrupt and
out of control, that is the iron law of oligarchy. In the US we saw this happen recently in the 2008
economic meltdown. The banks and corporations should never have been aloud to become to big
to fail, and once they did grow to a point when they were there should have been more government
oversight to make sure things did not get out of hand. After the great depressionlaws were put in
place to try to prevent something like that from ever happening again, but we undid those
restrictions and ended up in a place eerily similar to somewhere we had been before. In this
paper I will cover a brief history of the great depression, and show how the situation in 2008 was
all too similar. I will also discuss and analyze the factors that brought us to the tipping point in our
most recent economic scare. And finally I will explain why the actions taken by the FED were
necessary and kept us from an even more... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But depressions are different, they also come around every now and again but when they come
they have the capability of toppling giants. If a huge company with thousands of employees and
ties to other large companies goes down it can easily destroy the whole system and ruin the
American economy along with the economies of many other nations. It is clear that these
companies failing can cause immense damage to an economy but it is not clear what causes
these companies to fail in the first place. Back in the depression it was fear and oversight that
caused the banks to fail and in 2008 it was the same lack of oversight that allowed things to get so
out of hand that the economy was on the brink of total collapse. Luckily we learned from our
mistakes in the past and the right steps were taken to keep the economy on its

My presentation will be on one of the most advancing fields in the world today, engineering, that s
kind of vague so I ll narrow it down a bit. Specifically Bio mechanical engineering, or for short Bio

What is Bio mech? It is the combination of both biological theories and mechanical engineering
principles, which are combined in order to better understand how they can be used to improve the
quality of life.
I plan to show you today how bio mech as not only impacted my life, but has (or can) impact your

My friend Fred, On July 10th, 2017, lost his arm while in the Caloosahatchee River. A few of his
friends and him decided to go swimming there when a large alligator approached them. He knew
that his friends weren t going to be able to get away if it latched onto them, putting himself

Soon after, Fred s family and community raised over $37,000 in order to buy him a bionic arm.
Well there is a new innovation in bionic technology, the i limb, this bionic hand which has made
significant advancements in order to make bionic limbs even more realistic. According to Thomas

Mattel And The Chinese Consumer Market Essay
Introduction
This paper will explore issues Mattel, U.S. toymaker faced when it decided to opens its door in
China. The store was designed to cater to young girls who may be interested in purchasing Barbie
doll clothing and accessories. The flagship store had to close its doors in two years, because of
global cultural issues that hadn t be well thought out. This paper will discuss those issues and it
present some solutions on how Mattel can be successful in the Chinese consumer market.
Problems Mattel Faced In 2009, Mattel, one of the world s largest toy maker, opened its
flagship Barbie Store in Shanghai, China. Mattel invested over $30 million in the House of
Barbie that eventually closed its doors in two years. Gar Crispell, general manager of Barbie
Shanghai, pointed out a few mistakes the toy giant failed to realize. In China, the doll doesn t
represent any cultural meaning for Chinese girls or young women. Barbie would be better
received the doll was presented in a way that it would inspire Chinese girls. One problem with
Barbie is that not enough people in China new who she was, unlike in other countries where
generation of women grew up with Barbie dolls. The Shanghai Barbie store was not easily
accessible, with no parking spaces and it was not near the subway station. (Wang, 2012)
Six Cultural Issues

Rid Of Racism In America
Racism in America these days is too common, and is also the cause of the Black Lives Matter
riots and arguments. My idea to get rid of racism in America is to eliminate race altogether,
without race then racism wouldn t be a problem at all, that s why my idea is the best.. Most
citizens make racist jokes without even knowing it, and even when they do realize it, they don t
make any effort to make up for it. Without races these jokes wouldn t be funny because they
wouldn t even exist. The main reason people are racist is because they see other races as different,
or strange, and even alien. Raceshould not determine how you treat them, or see them as. Just

The Role Of Liberty And Equality
This review shall analyze the role of liberty and equality as they pertain to liberal and conservative
ideologies. Alexis de Tocqueville, one of the greatest commentators on the American political
tradition, viewed it through the lens of two related ideas: liberty and equality. These ideas, so
eloquently framed by Thomas Jefferson in the Declaration of Independence, have remained
inextricably and uniquely conjoined in American political thought: equality is understood as the
equal possession of natural rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. By considering
American reflections on these core ideas over time in relation to constitutional principles, religion,
and race this volume provides an especially insightful perspective for understanding our political
tradition.
Liberty refers to the freedom that individuals have whereas equality refers to treating all individuals
in the same manner.
Equal¬ity before the law is the natural state in a political society, but equality of goods and social
life in general is unnatural, and would take a great amount of regulation and coercion to achieve
and sustain.
I define liberty as the absence of coercion, the individual s right to do whatever he chooses with his
life and property as long as he does not directly harm others. USE QUOTE HERE
Liberty and equality are interrelated. This is when one party enjoys liberty to engage in a particular
activity, but the others are denied the same right. This results in a

  • 2. Conflict in the Emerald Isle Essay Conflict in the Emerald Isle The island of Ireland is known for many things: St. Patrick s Day, its green landscape, music, beer, and discord. The heart of this conflict began centuries ago, when Britain came over and forced Protestantism on the Irish Catholic inhabitants. There has always been hatred between the Irish Protestants and Catholics. The island is broken up into to distinct regions. The Republic of Ireland consists of 26 counties, which make up the southern region. This area is predominantly Roman Catholic. Northern Ireland is made up of the 6 northern counties, which are under British rule. This area is predominately Protestant. The conflict between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland is based ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This upset a majority of the Irish citizens, whom happened to be predominately Catholic, who felt that they were just that, citizens of Ireland, not subjects of England. They wanted the right to govern freely without British interference. There were, however, supporters of this act as well. These Unionists or Loyalists were made up largely of Protestants. They gladly welcomed the power of the British crown because they felt that they were truly British citizens not Irish citizens. While under British rule the Catholics were subjected to discriminating laws such as: they were not allowed to bear arms, hold public office, and were restricted in their right to an education. The laws have been lifted the tension still remains between the Catholics and the Protestants (Ito 1). There were still those who were pushing for Home Rule and the Protestants vowed to resist the movement with violence (Ito 1). However this movement never amounted to much. In 1920 the Government of Ireland Act separated the island into north and south. In 1921 these two sections would become known as the Irish Free State, or the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. The Republic of Ireland is composed of the 26 southern counties of Ireland and controlled by the parliament of Ireland. The remaining 6 counties in the north of Ireland make up Northern Ireland, which is controlled by Britain. This was intended to be a compromise between ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Purpose Of Immortality In Ancient Egyptian Religion Purpose of Immortality Out of all things, there is usually one aspect of life that may bring people together and bring consistency to their lives religion. There are a wide variety of different religions, yet many of them contain overlapping beliefs and concepts, including life after death, and it does not matter whether or not these religions are monotheistic or polytheistic. As a result, people may have a general notion of death, however, what many do not realize is that these religions support the idea of immortality. Although there is a contradiction when religions tell people that death is inevitable yet that they are also immortal, it is true because many religions have the idea of life after death, proving that immortality exists.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That being said, it is clear to see that Ancient Egyptians did believe in immortality, but to add to this, the fact that one of the many death rites includes mummification, further extends the concept of immortality because of the fact that the purpose of it is to preserve the bodies. On another note, The Book of the Dead provided instructions and access to magical power to assist the deceased in his passage to the afterlife and in his existence there (184). This is because of the fact that living well off was a very important aspect of the Ancient Egyptian religion. They wanted their paradise and afterlife to seem appealing because they do not want people to not enjoy themselves once they have died. It is very important to them to keep these souls content and happy for a reason, hence the fact that they have offerings for the dead. With this, they are able to keep the faith in happiness after death alive, to help them understand death ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Asian Culture And Cultural Identity Christina To Mr Nguyen English 4 13 October 2017 Cultural Identity Culture plays a big part on how you are as a person. A person beliefs are made up by their own unique cultural identity. Identity is what makes you who you are as person, and how does it defines you. Your identity doesn t have to be just your ethnicity or how you look like, it s way much more than that. While my culture is mixed with American and Asian aspects, Asian culture is most influential in my life because it helps me be motivated in school, affect my views on religion, and makes me have good deportment. Asian culture motivates me in school because their expectations push me to a higher standard. Most Asian parents would only expect a 4.0 GPA from their kids, and nothing lower. Their beliefs are that, if you get high grades, you will be successful. You could become a doctor, engineer, lawyer, and so much more. Unlike most American cultures, making money is the most important thing to Asians. If you have the right education, you would make a lot of money. With money, you could do anything, money is power. My parents would always say that if you have money, no one would ever make fun of you. They would give me life lessons, and compare me to other family members that are successful, and say that I have to be exactly like them. They would also talk to me about their history. How tough it was for them, how they had to drop out of school because their family was poor, and how they never got ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The most evident advantage of fast food is that it saves time. In today s fast paced life, there is nothing better than getting a ready meal. Realtors are licensed to sell properties by the national association of Realtors (NAR). Realtors also have to sign a list of 17 articles containing the standards of practice they must follow making them slightly more trustworthy than a real estate agent. 2. Both these structural and configurational isomers of bilirubin have substantially different chemical and light absorption properties than bilirubin, are less lipophilic than normal bilirubin and can be excreted into bile without undergoing glucuronidation in the liver. The absorption of light by bilirubin also results in the generation of excited state bilirubin molecules that react with oxygen to produce colorless oxidation, or photooxidation products. The rate of formation of bilirubin photoproducts is highly dependent on the intensity and wavelengths of the light used (13). The most efficient wavelength for the isomerization of bilirubin is approximately 450 nm, whether applied to the fluid samples for testing or the treatment of jaundice. At a global scale, latitude, distance from the sea and altitude play decisive roles in determining climate and ultimately the nature of particular ecosystems. The Great Barrier Reef is found along the Queensland coastline. It stretches as far north as Papa New Guinea, 8o South Latitude, to just above (north) of Fraser Island, 24o South Latitude, (an approximate 2300 Km stretch). There are four main regions along the Great Barrier Reef. These are The Northern, Central, Mackay, and Southern Region. The Great Barrier Reef also has continuity both geographically and temporally. Reef drilling data has proved that the reef in the north is 1km to 2km s thick and existed about 15 million years ago. For this there were two reasons. First, the piano, being an instrument of harmony and of tonal blending rather than one of simple melodic statement, was the natural medium for experimentation in a personal art built upon harmony and tone blending. Second, the piano, in spite of all that had been accomplished for it by several generations of exploiting virtuosi, was still capable of gradations of color and nuances of accentuation that had been ignored or perhaps more correctly, used only sparingly by the high riding masters of its sonorities. As a pianist, his compositional blending had little of the symphonic essence of orchestral music. It was said that he was endeavoring to make the piano not the piano. ... On the other hand Fargue remembered his playing in the 1890s he cradled it [the piano], talked softly to it, like a rider to his horse, a shepherd to his flock or a thresher to his oxen. Moreover, the pyramids boasted several other astronomical and geographical equivalents in its architecture: The Great Pyramid s sides were aligned with each cardinal direction, with the North side facing true north with only 3/60th degree of error. There was also a possibility that the pyramids could be used as a sort of astronomical calendar as well. The spring equinox was marked when no shadow was cast by the Great Pyramid due to its latitude and angle (Crystalinks). In order to build these massive structures, there were several possible techniques employed to lift, transport, and place the large limestone blocks that the pyramids were comprised. The Importance Of The Right To Bear Arms On College Arms On December 15, 1791, the United States Congress ratified ten constitutional amendments that were intended to limit and protect citizens from each other and the federal government. Among those ten amendments, the second amendment grants states the right to establish a well regulated militia as necessary to ensure the security of its citizens. By doing so, the federal government and state governments shall not infringe the right of the people to keep and bear arms. Paradoxically, legislators managed to infringe, redefine, and pose restrictions on the initial amendment. Specifically, there are restrictions that limit the ability to carry concealed weapons on college campuses. Recent events, such as the mass murders of college students by gunmen, have occurred due to the neglectful actions of legislators. For instance, On April 16, 2007, a senior student at Virginia Polytechnic University went on a shooting rampage on campus and killed thirty two people before committing suicide. It is obvious that these open carry restrictions create an easy target for gunmen, as thousands of college students are vulnerable to attacks. Characteristics Of An Anglo-Saxon Hero In Beowulf Debi Mazar once said, A hero is somebody who is selfless, who is generous in spirit, who tries to give back as much as possible and help people. They are never concerned with themselves but the wellbeing of everyone around them and that s what makes them so great, their selfless acts change lives for the better. Beowulfexemplifies the characteristics of an Anglo Saxon Hero because he shows bravery and courage in a way nobody else does, he is honored by all and is beyond selfless. First of all, Beowulf shows courage and bravery on his way to find Grendel and battle him. He runs after him to find out where Grendel is going and why he won t let him battle, this shows bravery because most people don t run towards danger and Beowulf did exactly that. Beowulf runs towards danger throughout the entire poem, for example in the text it says, Have watched me rise from the darkness of war. Dripping with my enemy s blood. I drove five great giants into chains, chased all that raced from the earth, I swam in the blackness of night, hunting monsters out of the ocean and killing them one by one. (247 254). This is a great quote because it shows how it takes a great amount of bravery to battle someone that has greater than or equal strength compared to himself,(Beowulf) with it being night time it was hard to see let alone battle monsters. Another example of Beowulf showing courage is when he says, He needs no weapons and fears none. Nor will I. My lord Higlac might think less of me if I let my sword go where my feet were afraid to... • 30. The Evolution Of The 1960s Protest Song The evolution of the 1960s protest song has typically been associated with Joni Mitchell, but the expanding range of protest songs in the 1970s defines her continued presence as a leader in terms of environmental activism. More than just a vestige of the late 1960s, Mitchell continued to write protest songs long after many other artists from the 1960s had changed their lyrical content. In the mellow turn of early 1970s country rock and folk music, Mitchell represented a new environmental shift that moved away from the proto typical antiwar songs of the 1960s. Mitchell, along with other musicians of this era, defined a shifting musical focus on songwriting and musical presentation during the early 1970as: The early to mid 1970s would become known for a mellow turn toward country rock, production heavy supergroups, and envieronmental songs like Big Yellow Taxi(1970). Even the Beach Boys took their turn at envieronmental critique, releasing Don t Go Near the Water in 1971 (Weglarz xviii). In this musical critique, the soft rock appeal of Mitchell s song represented a shift away from the hard rock sound of the 1960s, but with the gritty directness of lyrics that challenged the chemical pollution of DDT usage in modern farming techniques. The hard edge of envieronmental critiques was certain masked by the gentle nature of Mitchell s voice, but the reality of chemical engineering as a threat to the environment is interjected through her flowing melodic structures: ... In my opinion, the poem tells of a woman that was very important in his life. The raven in the poem is his representation of the constant reminder that his lost loved one named Lenore is gone. There is a lot of evidence that supports this claim throughout the poem that Poe uses. The narrator in The Ravenis grieving the death of a woman named Lenore. Then as he sits and the raven remains he thinks more and speaks, Other friends have flown before On the morrow he will leave me, as my hopes have flown before. In this quote, the narrator is referring to his hopes that maybe one day Lenore will return, but those thoughts have left him which is causing him to feel so lonely and sad about her death. When the narrator realizes that the raven is not leaving, he then decides to try and figure out what exactly is the meaning of its appearance and it only speaking the word nevermore. He concludes that maybe the bird came from an angry owner making the bird sad like him and causing it to repeat that word. The way the narrator describes the bird in the next lines of the poem point toward the true meaning of it, he uses terms such as, grim, ungainly, ghastly, gaunt, and ominous... (Poe, Line 71). Any geopolitical events that can possibly affect the supply and demand for crude oil will influence the price. As a result, crude oil prices in Canada are affected by foreign and domestic issues. • 46. Theme Of The Short Happy Life Of Francis Macomber Hemingway repeatedly employs the word plenty to replace a description of what it is being described. The question arises, is plenty enough? It reflects themes throughout his stories, through a variety of emotions and descriptions. The lack of description around the word leads up to the question of why it was used, and how Hemingway means to define it. By stereotype, plenty is defined as adequate, possibly overabundant, supply of something. But Hemingway, known as part of the twentieth century narrators for defying stereotypes of the 19th century, highlighting the doubts and lack of faith, dampers this typical meaning. New but not necessarily improved, plenty is used in the beginning of The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber ; A quid would be plenty, Wilson told him. You don t want to spoil them (Hemingway 1). Plenty for the mess boy seems to be enough for him to survive, but not to live fully. Although spoiling is not what defines living, the opposite of the spectruim, barely scraping by, does not either. Similarly, in Big Two Hearted River, Nick describes his container for the grasshoppers, recounting it as, It plugged the mouth of the bottle enough, so the hoppers could no get out and left plenty of air passage (Hemingway 6). Once again, the grasshoppers could survive, able to breathe, but were not able to escape their impending doom. If a huge company with thousands of employees and ties to other large companies goes down it can easily destroy the whole system and ruin the American economy along with the economies of many other nations. It is clear that these companies failing can cause immense damage to an economy but it is not clear what causes these companies to fail in the first place. Back in the depression it was fear and oversight that caused the banks to fail and in 2008 it was the same lack of oversight that allowed things to get so out of hand that the economy was on the brink of total collapse. Luckily we learned from our mistakes in the past and the right steps were taken to keep the economy on its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Informative Speech On Mechanical Engineering (1) *Walks to the front and looks around, then walking from the side of the room towards the center* Before I begin my presentation, I d like to see by a show of hands; how many of you think of pills, hospital gowns, cute nurses, and scary needles when you hear the words medical field ? *wait for a show of hands* (say something along the lines of okay, so were about half in half ) What if I told you that there are so many other aspects of medicine than what your use to seeing? My presentation will be on one of the most advancing fields in the world today, engineering, that s kind of vague so I ll narrow it down a bit. Specifically Bio mechanical engineering, or for short Bio mech. What is Bio mech? It is the combination of both biological theories and mechanical engineering principles, which are combined in order to better understand how they can be used to improve the quality of life. I plan to show you today how bio mech as not only impacted my life, but has (or can) impact your lives. (2) To start off, My friend Fred, On July 10th, 2017, lost his arm while in the Caloosahatchee River. A few of his friends and him decided to go swimming there when a large alligator approached them. He knew that his friends weren t going to be able to get away if it latched onto them, putting himself between the gator and his friends he got bit (but luckily they were all still alive). Soon after, Fred s family and community raised over $37,000 in order to buy him a bionic arm. Well there is a new innovation in bionic technology, the i limb, this bionic hand which has made significant advancements in order to make bionic limbs even more realistic. According to Thomas K. Grose, who has written Journals such as; STILL TOO FEW , Smart Electronics: SECURITY RISK , and is also the manager at American Society for Engineering Education. The hand utilizes five individually powered articulating fingers, each with three articulating joins, moved by five motors, so that it can look and act just like real hands. Allowing the user to grasp objects that they wouldn t have been able to do other wise. The hand is controlled through myoelectric sensors, myo is Latin for muscle). So they are essentially muscle sensors. Through picking ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 51. Rid Of Racism In America Racism in America these days is too common, and is also the cause of the Black Lives Matter riots and arguments. My idea to get rid of racism in America is to eliminate race altogether, without race then racism wouldn t be a problem at all, that s why my idea is the best.. Most citizens make racist jokes without even knowing it, and even when they do realize it, they don t make any effort to make up for it. Without races these jokes wouldn t be funny because they wouldn t even exist. The main reason people are racist is because they see other races as different, or strange, and even alien. Raceshould not determine how you treat them, or see them as. Just because someone could be white or black, doesn t mean it s right to treat them ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Course/prognosis Early Stage Chronic Renal Failure (ESCRF) is defined as stages 1 3 of renal failure determined by the Glomerular Filtration rate (GFR) a formula incorporating Age, Gender, and Creatinine levels in the blood to determine how much waste product is being filtered every minute. A GFR of 30 to 99 mL/min is considered (ESCRF), GFR 30mL/min is considered End Stage Renal Failure with less than 30% functioning kidney, dialysis or transplant is essential for survival. A client can move through different Early stages, however progression usually progresses to more severe end stage, once GFR is 30mL/min damage cannot be reversed. Appropriate Intervention and reducing risk factors can prolong progression by months and up to years. • 56. The Role Of Liberty And Equality This review shall analyze the role of liberty and equality as they pertain to liberal and conservative ideologies. Alexis de Tocqueville, one of the greatest commentators on the American political tradition, viewed it through the lens of two related ideas: liberty and equality. These ideas, so eloquently framed by Thomas Jefferson in the Declaration of Independence, have remained inextricably and uniquely conjoined in American political thought: equality is understood as the equal possession of natural rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. By considering American reflections on these core ideas over time in relation to constitutional principles, religion, and race this volume provides an especially insightful perspective for understanding our political tradition. Liberty refers to the freedom that individuals have whereas equality refers to treating all individuals in the same manner. EqualВ¬ity before the law is the natural state in a political society, but equality of goods and social life in general is unnatural, and would take a great amount of regulation and coercion to achieve and sustain. I define liberty as the absence of coercion, the individual s right to do whatever he chooses with his life and property as long as he does not directly harm others. USE QUOTE HERE Liberty and equality are interrelated. This is when one party enjoys liberty to engage in a particular activity, but the others are denied the same right. This results in a ...
