Remote Control or Mind Control
Imagine this, it s the year 2020 and you re long gone from UC s campus. You ve gotten the job you ve
always wanted and finally have a family of your own. You come home from working a 15 hour shift
and your three year old toddler starts throwing a tantrum about being bored but, your spouse is gone
for the time being and only you can entertain the child. What do you do? Do you swallow your pride
and play games, read, and or color with him or do you simply turn on the television and let
SpongeBob take it away? This is a big battle that exists in today s society. Most people tend to have an
opinion that media, specifically television and video games, are having long term effects on our
children concerning their behavior and morals. Others, although typically outnumbered, think that the
media does not heavily impact children and most children, if raised with proper care, will know the
difference between right and wrong even with media present in their life. In one text, an informative,
factual research style paper, the University of Michigan Health System gives insight as to why
television may be more harmful than helpful to our youth using raw data from clinical researches. For
my second text I have chosen a freehanded, opinion based article, written by a parent who sees
nothing wrong with letting his children watch television. These two articles have different insight on
the same subject considering it s discourse community, audience, and style of writing. I ll begin with

Differences in the Development of New England and the Chesapeake Region
Question: Although New England and the Chesapeake region were both settled largely by people of
English origin, by 1700 the regions had evolved into two distinct societies. Why did this difference in
development occur?
By the 1700s the two regions, New England and Chesapeake varied greatly in spite of being from the
same mother country, England. Physical and cultural differences separated these two regions
distinctively. While religion moulded the daily life in New England, Money and tobacco farming
dominated the Chesapeake.
Puritans fleeing religious persecution in England settled New England. They were a highly religious
people. Document A, John ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Religious uniformity was very important as they were intolerant of any other religion, and only church
members were part of the government at first. Citizens were required to attend Church services as part
of the law. Most of the people in New England had been merchants or small farmers in England. In
New England however, the rocky soil made it hard for a lot of farming, so the Puritans turned to the
coast. They built up major industries such as shipbuilding and fishing, and established trade routes
with England, and the Caribbean. The New Englanders were a very pious and hardworking people,
very different from their southern neighbours.
The Chesapeake region was the first region to be colonized. The first settlers had a very hard time
adapting to the moist swampy climate and lack of commerce and civility that they were used to in
England. Most of the early settlers were gentlemen sent by companies such as the Virginia and
London Companies. They were determined to find wealth in the North American wilderness, and
suffered greatly due to famine and diseases like malaria. Most of these unlucky settlers were men,
which was a drawback for the new colony of Virginia because there was very little reproduction.
Document C, a ships list of emigrants bound for Virginia shows the lack of families travelling to
Virginia, as well as the very few women, most of them single. The men fought over these

Examples Of Archetypes In Avatar
Avatar Archetypes Archetypes, what are they? Archetypes are recurrent symbols or motifs in
literature, art, or mythology. In the 2009 movie, Avatar, directed by James Cameron, several different
archetypes can be found that help move the plot along. Avatar begins with a man named Jake Sully,
who takes over his deceased brother s science mission on a faraway planet known as Pandora. On
Pandora, Jake is told to gain the natives , or the Na vi, trust in order to attempt to relocate the tribe.
This is necessary because the military wanted to collect a rare, valuable, mineral that lay beneath the
Na vi territory. The specific tribe the movie focuses on is the Omaticaya tribe, which includes the
characters seen in the movie. In order to gain their confidence, Jake was put into an avatar body which
was created and genetically modified to match a real Na vi; mixing ... Show more content on

The humans used a machine system to connect Jake s mind to the avatar body. Throughout the
journey, Jake meets a Na vi named Neytiri, whom is both his mentor and lover. She shows him the Na
vi land, and he quickly falls for the lifestyle and area that the Na vi live in. This connection kept him
from fulfilling the wishes of the military, because Jake wanted to defend and protect the Na vi along
with their land. In the end, Jake, along with the whole tribe, protected the land and the people in it
from the destructive humans. In the end, Jake was able to receive his wish, and was transferred into
his avatar body forever. Within the journey that the director of the movie created are several
archetypes that create depth to the plot. Archetypes create meanings on different levels and create
conflicts and action to move plots along, which allowed for an interestingly

Most research on capital structure has focused on public, nonfinancial corporations with access to U.S.
or international capital markets. This is the right place to start. These companies have the broadest
menu of financing choices and can adjust their capital structures at relatively low cost. Yet even 40
years after the
Modigliani and Miller research, our understanding of these firms financing choices is limited. We
know much more about financing tactics for example the tax efficient design or timing of a specific
security issue than about financing strategy, for example the firm s choice of a target overall debt
level.
Research on financing tactics confirms the importance of taxes, information differences and agency
costs. Whether these factors have first order effects on the overall levels of debt vs. equity financing is
still an open question. Debt ratios of established, public U.S. corporations vary within apparently
homogenous industries.
There is also variation over time, even when taxation, information differences and agency problems
are apparently constant.
Some Facts about Financing
Most of the aggregate gross investment by U.S. nonfinancial corporations has been financed from
internal cash flow (depreciation and retained earnings).
External financing in most years covers less than 20 percent of real investment, and most of that
financing is debt. Net stock issues are frequently negative: that is, more

Essay On Standard Oil
Standard Oil began as an Ohio partnership incorporated in 1870 by John D. Rockefeller. Using
innovative business tactics, it absorbed or destroyed most of its competition in Cleveland in less than
two months.
Especially in early years, John D. Rockefeller was the single most important figure in shaping the new
oil industry. He distributed power and the tasks of policy formation to a system of committees, but
always remained the largest shareholder.
In response to state laws trying to limit the scale of companies, Rockefeller and his associates
developed innovative ways of organizing their rapidly growing company. On January 2, 1882, they
combined their disparate companies, spread across dozens of states, under a single group of trustees.

The state of Ohio successfully sued Standard, compelling the dissolution of the trust in 1892. But
Standard simply separated Standard Oil of Ohio and kept control of it. Eventually, the state of New
Jersey changed its incorporation laws to allow a company to hold shares in other companies in any
state. So, in 1899, the Standard Oil Trust, based at 26 Broadway in New York, was legally reborn as a
holding company, the Standard Oil Co. of New Jersey, which held stock in 41 other companies, which
controlled other companies, which in turn controlled yet other companies.
In 1904, Standard controlled 91 percent of production and 85 percent of final sales. Most of its output
was kerosene, of which 55 percent was exported around the world. After 1900 it did not try to force
competitors out of business by underpricing them. The federal Commissioner of Corporations studied
Standard s operations from the period of 1904 to 1906 and concluded that beyond question... the
dominant position of the Standard Oil Co. in the refining industry was due to unfair practices .
In 1909, the US Department of Justice sued Standard under federal anti trust law, the Sherman
Antitrust Act of 1890, for sustaining a monopoly and restraining interstate commerce by:
Rebates, preferences, and other discriminatory practices in favor of the combination by railroad
companies; restraint and monopolization by control of pipe lines, and unfair practices against

Robert Hooke Research Paper
Robert Hooke discovered some of the world s first microorganisms and should be the known as the
father of cell biology. He made discoveries way before scientists like Antonie Van Leeuwenhoek had
made them, even though he didn t really understand what he saw, he gave it the name the ¨cell¨. He
also wrote one of the most important scientific books to date as well, Micrographia. He was also a
great physicist and discovered the law of elasticity which gave us a great understanding of stress and
strain on physical objects. Robert Hooke was a man of many trades and one of them was being a great
Cell Biologist. Robert Hooke was born on July 18, 1635, in Freshwater, Isle of Wight. His father was
a curch server and his mother was a non working woman. He was initially a sick child but loved to
learn as her grew. He loved to paint and work with mechanical toys and models as he grew up. At the

He cut up a cork and looked at it through a microscope. since corks are made up of dead plants of
sorts he saw plant cells through his lense. He was the first to ever examine them and gave these

were actually three notable inventions. He made the balance wheel to make clocks more accurate, the
universal joint to make objects bend in any direction, and lastly the lense diaphragm to stop to acute
the passage of light in lenses. he was a great scientist and inventor for his time and created stuff we
still use today. Today pretty much every cell biologist uses his discovery! He coined the name ¨cell¨
for these things and gave us the first glimpses of all the science that was yet to come. He also wrote
the book Micrographia one of the most important books in science to date. Every cell biologist follows
in Hooke s discovery. Today many scientists wouldn t be where they are today if it weren t for his

Dead Wake Book Report
Larson, Erik. Dead Wake: The Last Crossing of the Lusitania, 2015. New York: Crown Publishers,
2015, 430 pp. Erik Larson s purpose of Dead Wake is to create a real life feel of the events that
actually occurred on the Lusitania. It seems as if he wanted to take the evidence he acquired and create
a story that would capture readers attention by the emotional connection with the characters and
provide them with a map, letters, and other documents. He also seemed to want to educate his readers
not only on the sinking of the ship, but all of the events that happened on the days it were at sail.
Although he wrote nonfiction, he makes it as real as he can with all of the telegrams he provides. I
think Larson s scope of the book is to educate in a way that is enjoyable for his readers. Larson covers
some of the events leading up to the sail of the Lusitania, the actual events at sea, views from the
German s U boats, and the tragic events that occurred in the end. He explains ... Show more content

history, I think they would find this book right up their alley. Overall, Larson s Dead Wake is a book
that keeps you wanting to read more. The audience will feel a sense of page turning anxiety while
reading through this. He did a fantastic job turning history into a book that is enjoyable and created a
real life feel. He kept the story dramatic and detailed. His knowledge on this subject is shown by all of
his sources, which stand out to readers who need reassurance. I have to give him props for how hard
he worked to create a book that could shed light on the events that happened on the Lusitania. Dead

Application Of Dgs For Local Network Stability
Introduction: Due to increased concern on energy crisis and environmental issues, power industry is
shifting their power production from conventional power sources to renewable energy sources, and is
incorporating it into the grid utility in the form of distributed generations (DGs). The application of
DGs can enhance reliability and stability of the local network, and can reach benefit to the supplier by
reducing system losses and investment on a new transmission line due to increased power
consumption [1]. Power generation in the form of DGs for local and grid utility can create issues as
many as it may solve. Therefore, a microgrid concept is evolved to coordinate among sources, loads,
and energy storage devices for maintaining ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Inverters are able to supply controlled voltage and frequency depending on the control algorithms [3].
The characteristics of inverters are significantly different from the conventional generators; therefore,
specific control algorithms are required for a stable microgrid operation [4, 5].
There are a number of publications on droop based control for facilitating high reliability and avoiding
complexity of a supervisory control system [6, 12]. The droop based control algorithms are popular
due to their coordination capability among various power rating units together with flexibility and
reliability. The concept of droop based power control is valid for the both high voltage (HV)
transmission line and low voltage (LV) distribution line, although it has some limitations.
Problem formulation: To achieve consumer satisfaction in power supply and harness renewable
energy, microgrids design and control are essential issues for reliable operation. As the characteristics
of the distribution network and high volume power electronics penetration into the network are
significantly different from the conventional power system, several issues are raised. Some of the
issues, which are a promised field for future research, are described shortly below:
Distribution network: In a LV distribution network, the well known P/f droop control requires much
more effort than the P/V droop because predominated resistive network that naturally connects active
power with

Dwight D. Eisenhower s Speech
Dwight D. Eisenhower was one of Americas most influential presidents. He ended his successful
public career with a farewell speech outlining the growth of the nation and warnings about the future.
Firstly, I will examine the effectiveness of Eisenhower s speech.
I found his speech to be well written, it held my attention and gave a clear message to protect the
future of the nation and its resources. I define a well written speech as one that can keep an audience
listening and wanting more. An effective speech must also have a clear message, and not contradict
itself. Eisenhower s speech concluded his second term as President on a good note, and it gave the
nation critical information on national defense, innovation, and the future for our people. Eisenhower s
speech gave a clear message of national pride while also giving advice on our scientific and military
future.
Now I will discuss the location and historical significance of the speeches. Eisenhower televised his
speech live from the White House. This use of technology allowed him to reach a wide audience,
some of which who would not have been able to attend his speech. The historical significance of his
speech was the long successful presidency that he was handing over to the much younger John F.
Kennedy.
Now I will examine the structure of Eisenhower s speech. His speech began with a brief introduction
thanking the broadcasting companies and giving his blessing to his successor, John F. Kennedy. The

Opposition to Prescribed Burns Essay
Opposition to Prescribed Burns
Forest fires kill many animals and usually destroy a large amount of land. Prescribed burns seem like
they would be the best idea, but are they? Their claim to fame is to clear out land in order to decrease
the burning space for when an actual forest fire occurs. Yet this may seem like a brilliant idea, but one
must look at the negative aspects of controlled burnings. People might have a change of heart when
they realize the damages and effects of such an interesting act. Keep in mind that not only is your
health involved but even such things as the inconvenience of dealing with a smoky town. It is
important to understand that prescribed burns cause severe health problems especially to ... Show

Much like the firefighters in 911 (figure 1); many people would say that a firefighter s health is very
important. Life is a precious thing and before we sit around and let controlled burnings take control,
we should protect the lives of those who protect us.
Figure SEQ Figure * ARABIC 1 (Firefighters at a 911 memorial)
Although health is a major issue, you must keep in mind that visibility is very important, especially if
you have to drive through the thick smoke on a major highway. Loss of sight during a burn usually
occurs during high peak exposures (Reinhardt 35). It is hard for firefighters to concentrate on their
work because the smoke decreases their visibility so much (Reinhardt 34). Besides the danger of not
being able to see while driving and a firefighter not being able to see what he is doing, it is also a
negative to not be able to enjoy the beautiful nature around us when we are outside. The smoke may
not last long, but it is hard to go on with day to day lives dealing with breathing let alone looking
through the smoke each day. Smoke could irritate eyes for a long period of time and might possibly
lead to long term damage (Reinhardt 34).
The last, but yet most important aspect one must look at is the fact that your long term health could be
affected by smoke damage from the burns. The top five components of potential health hazards are:
acrolein, benzene, carbon monoxide,

Causes Of Knife Crime Essay
Most London knife crimes are no longer gang related, police say was an article written for The
Guardian in October 2016. It was about the rising amount of knife crime in London and how young
people are increasingly carrying knives for protection. Knife crimes in London have risen by 16% in
the past two years, with 13 people who have be killed this year under the age of 25. In the 12 months
to August 2016, there were 3,877 victims of knife crime who were injured, 1,749 of whom were under
25. This made me aware of a rising offence we re facing and made me more determined to be a part of

criminal? Who are the type of people to commit crimes? What are their activities? These are just a few
questions I find engaging, which made me more determined to study this insightful course. Crime is
damaging humanity and the society of today s generation. For example, the fear of crime makes the
people who live in high crime communities feel unsafe and also makes it unattractive for new

CRCP strongly feels that organized consumers and lawyers can play a very effective and leading
role in the furtherance of consumer cause in Pakistan. An attempt, therefore, has been made to provide
them with a ready reference on laws dealing with consumer protection to pursue the cause and get a

Rap Vs Country
What people really think Everyone would say Country is the purist of all music genres but if we take a
closer look at the lyrics of the popular songs, is it like rap in the long run. From Keith Pounds song
She wore a Red Dress which is all about a hunting down a girl and getting in a huge fight and killing
her. Most country songs have the darkest of meanings. Instead of criticizing them we tap our toes to
the beat of the music and it becomes the most listened to song on the radio. What is better for kids to
listen to rap or country? Rap is the most criticized music genre out there all because it has a bad

Childhood Stereotypes In Childhood

To know that when you die and will be judged is enough to also keep you on the right path if you are a

God until I was around 13 years old.
I always felt it was a higher power and someone that planned our destiny. Just never learned or knew
much about him. Now that I am 32 years old I find myself asking and praying for God to come into

hears my prayers, as a Christian I try to live right. This brings me to that in order to claim to be a

she could belong to her people and could pass as a member of the empire had she been dressed in
appropriate attire. With the scars, both physical and emotional, inflicted to her by Joll, she could now
neither belong to the empire, with her wounds that showed her past nor belong to her people as she

Alicia Walker s The Flowers
Alicia Walker s short story, The Flowers , gives a darker side on the realities of life. The author walks
through the perspective of Myop, who is a ten year old girl, having the time of life. Walker uses words
such light , warm , and beautiful to illustrate Myop s life as innocent in her childhood (par. 2). This
shows the Paradise which humans seek to have in their lives. However, Walker talks about how Myop
chose her own path, searching for flowers in the woods (par. 4). What Walker describes in this scene is
the curiosity of a kid searching for answers, farther than her mother took her in the woods. In the

Women and Flexibility in the Workplace The focus of this paper is to evaluate factors that have
affected women`s pay in the workforce. The analysis of historical factors affecting women`s flexibility
in the workplace as a continuous social and structural issue is added to the paper to explain the need
for change because of the demands that accompany working female caregivers in the home. Historical
and statistical data is provided to validate the issues surrounding unequal pay scales women
commonly experience in the workplace. A hypothesis is developed to suggest the type`s of change that
women hope to see take place in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the time the law was passed, it was estimated that women were earning 59% of the average wage
(Giraffe, 2011). In 2011 the estimate had risen to 82% ratio of pay for women compared to men.
Lower pay scales for women means lower retirement benefits, pension pay, and 401k`s. The low pay
scales were insulting enough to the female gender but deeper issued existed such as the flexibility
needed to care for children, home, and personal healthcare.
Structural and Social Concerns Surrounding Women in the Workforce Women are typically the
nurturers in the home. Mother`s have been responsible for childcare, PTA, grade mothers, and sports
moms for many generations before males began filling the roles because females were working
outside the homes. Although it is not uncommon in todays society to see dad`s stay at home and fill
the roles typically filled by women; it is a relatively new role for males in the last 25 years. The
National Organization for Women, 2012, reports that, Different societal expectations for wives

of the Trades Union Congress, stating, We want to see a labor market which does not penalize mothers

as childcare, adequate after school programs, leaving children unattended, and the cost for such care.

Border Security and Transatlantic Counter-Terrorism Measures
Border Security and Transatlantic Counter Terrorism Measures
ABSTRACT: The United States and the European Union share common values, economic interests,
and security challenges. The expansion of the European Union into the countries which were under the
Soviet sphere of influence continues to complicate the internal border security of the European Union.
Given the liberalization of trade within the EU and in turn into the US, the port and border security of
each trading partner is connected in this global economy. This paper examines some of the border
security issues facing the EU and how these challenges affect the United States. Particular interest is
paid to the porous borders of the former Warsaw Pact countries given their ... Show more content on

The United States created a more protective stance on homeland security after the terrorist attacks in
2001. This defensive mentality has effected allies and enemies alike and placed more stringent
security barriers at America s gates. The changing global environment created by these terrorist
activities has challenged the transatlantic relationship and its ability to produce effective counter
measures. Cooperation between the US and the EU in this arena is critical to the security and
economic prosperity of both regions. The EU s limited executive authority over Justice and Homeland
Affairs presents obstacles to the equal implementation of counter terrorism measures throughout the
Union.
COUNTER TERRORISM MEASURES
The US has enacted new counter terrorism measures since the attacks of 2001. Several of these
measures affect the travel standards and economic interaction with allied nations. The developments
of the Security Container Initiative, the Passenger Name Record exchange, and the freezing of
terrorist financial networks have created opportunities for both cooperation and conflict between the
US and the EU. The declarations from the US EU Summit in Ireland on counter terrorism measures
provide only part of the solution. The EU must also develop and utilize the executive power required
to ensure equal implementation across the union.

I remember the arrival of this TV in my house. A fine, summer day, a large cardboard box landed in
my parent s room. From behind unfurling gray of his cigarette puff, my father boasted, It s a 51 cm

A New Idea For The Proposal Of Race
A New Idea for the Proposal of Race to the Students of UC Merced
Leo Alonso Cabrera
Professor Danielson
Writing 010 31
UC Merced
Introduction o Introduce the theme of your essay, which revolves around the concepts of race and how
college students choose to break social norms
 College students are typically introduced to new, and often time radical ideas, that are very different
from the ones that they are shown in home.
 Personal Anecdote: Before coming to school here in UCM, my dad would often talk to me in many
different occasions throughout my life about the concept of race and what it represents: o Honor o
Family o Education o Class
Many times he would emphasize to me that people of other races do not have the ability to value the
same things as a Hispanic would, and would many times reference the family of my Ex Girlfriend,
whose family is Native American and would often use stereotypes, such as Indian Alcoholism to show
me how their priorities are different than mine. She is not going to a UC, and thus he makes that point
of comparison on education to show how successful I am because of my Hispanic values can surpass
the concerns of an alcoholic Native American family.
Now propose the question o What is Race?
 It is a concept that is created by Man to essentially control Man0 (The use of the law, Hudgins v.
Wright, p. 965).
 According to Lopez, Race [to me] is defined as a vast group of people loosely bound together by

Lucretius Book 3 Essay
The chart above shows how Lucretius arranged his poem to combat his two main targets: the fear of
death the fear of the gods. In Books 1 2, Lucretius expounds upon his atomic theory of indestructible
particles, which cause an everlasting cycle of combination and separation, creation and destruction,
and birth and death. Everything in the universe is composed of these particles, thus everything is
mortal. Book 3 is dependent on the two previous books as it brings the ethical implication to the fore
by discussing the nature of the soul and its mortality. The culmination of Book 3 therefore death is
nothing to us makes explicit the crux of atomic theory set out in Books 1 3 showing that death is not to

that man influences the gods. The whole poem could be viewed as supporting this view as Lucretius in

Reflection On Reflection-In-Action
Reflection is considered as a vital element of professional practice as it precedes to insight and then
subsequent change in practice. The hypothesis of reflection is not new as it can be tracked as far back
in the 5th century by the influential Greek philosopher, Socrates and to the 1930s primarily focusing
on John Dewey s work. Dewey is one of the founders of learning from experience. He theorised
reflection as active, persistent and careful consideration (Dewey, 1933) initiated by a specific situation
which was opposing, perplexing or uncertain. One of its most common use today is coming up with a
thought, an idea, or opinion made or an observation made as a result of concentration, suggesting in
essence a way of thinking in which one looks back and meditate upon (Agnes, 2004).
In 1938, Donald Schon s The Reflective Practitioner: How Professionals Think in Action was
published. He promoted two types of reflection, which he referred to as 1) reflection on action and 2)
reflection in action (Somerville and Keeling, 2004). Reflection on action is the most common used
reflection among practitioners. It involves constantly re accounting what happened in the past.

The purpose of this paper is to examine the burden sharing behavior of Gulf Cooperation Council

Because of this, the Arabian Gulf States should work collectively to fill the power vacuum and
increase the level of security in the Arabian Gulf region. This study would focus on the effects of free
riding on security arrangements among the Arabian Gulf states. Finally, applying the same framework
of the NATO on the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) could help the Gulf States play a larger role in
their region.
There is serious concern for the entire world about the Arabian Gulf security. Iran s expanding
ambition rose to new heights when its nuclear ambitions were revealed to the world. In fact, Iran s
nuclear ambition has alerted regional and international concerns about the future stability and security.

to help identify the best policies in dealing with the security dilemma.

Breathless Final Scene Essay
Breathless/À bout de soufflé scene analysis The final scene of Jean Luc Goddard s Breathless (1960)
is one of the most memorable scenes of the film. Not only does it portray the conventions of new
wave cinema but it also depicts the existentialist themes that are presented throughout. New wave
cinema was typically low budget and this is presented in the climactic scene of Breathless. The scene
was shot on location and included a lot of jump cuts and disjointed editing. However, despite
appearing to be unprofessional and unpolished, Breathless evokes a sense of harsh realism that is
present in contemporary relationships. The final scene also symbolises the end of Michel (Jean Paul
Delmondo) and Patricia s (Jean Seberg) ill fated partnership and signifies the end of their attempt to
find happiness and love within one another. The final scene acts as the climax of Breathless whilst ...

The majority of Breathless was filmed in Patricia s apartment room or in Paris, reflecting the low
budget of new wave cinema and also the new array of options for film aesthetics (Richard Neupert:

filming. As Michel is running down the street, members of the public are shown walking past and
looking at the protagonists, almost acting as extras. The street which Michel runs down is completely
clear apart from the cars parked either side of him, the mise en scène of this scene emits a sense of
entrapment for Michel. As well as the placement of the cars on either side of him, there are also
buildings which further add to the feeling that he cannot escape, it as if everything is closing in on
Michel leaving him trapped. Additionally, the street in which he is running down appears as it will

Anyone that enjoys football enjoys the excitement that comes with the game. A lot of the excitement
that comes with football is the touchdowns. After touchdowns, it has become customary to celebrate.
These celebrations have become more tame over the years, thanks to Commissioner Roger Goodell
and his anti fun ways. Long gone are the days of using the pylon to play miniature golf or stashing a
cell phone under the goal post and making a phone call. The most extreme celebration one will see
nowadays is a little dance or giving the football to a kid in the crowd. Unfortunately, the media and

The media does not like the idea of someone other than Tom Brady or Peyton manning dominating the
quarterback position, especially a black quarterback. It is time for the media to move into 2015 like
the rest of the world is.
In order for Cam Newton to get the respect he deserves, the media has to learn to accept that Cam is
here to stay and is an elite talent. How many teams are still undefeated in the NFL this season? There
is only one and it just so happens to be Cam Newton s Panthers. With the season that Cam has had, he
should be a near lock for MVP, but the media still keeps bringing up other names like Tom Brady.
What people fail to realize is that Newton is putting up these numbers with very few receivers. Ted
Ginn is the number one receiver for the Panthers and he has never been more than a number three
option in his career. Newton does have a great tight end in Greg Olson, but for the most part is single
handedly carrying this team with his legs and his arm. It is time for Newton to be put in the positive
spotlight. Super Cam is good for the NFL and good for the African American community. He broke
the mold and proved that an African American can be a great quarterback in the NFL and have a ton of
fun while doing it. Next time you see number 1 flashing that contagious smile and celebrating a big
touchdown, embrace it because we are witnessing something

Essay about Australian Immigration And Its Effects
Australian Immigration and Its Effects
Australia is an island continent which is geographically isolated from the rest of the world. This has
resulted in the evolution of many unique plants and animals and the development of a very fragile
ecosystem. This ecosystem has been influenced by human immigration for many thousands of years.
The original immigrants were the Aborigines who are thought to have migrated to Australia from Asia
between 50 and 100 thousand years ago. These primitive people learned to live in the inhospitable
environment of Australia with very little effect. Their major environmental impact was from the use of
controlled burning of the land. Over the years they had learned the benefit of ... Show more content on

The settlement was started on
January 26 which is now celebrated every year as Australia day. The settlement was later named
Sydney after Britain s secretary, Lord Sydney. Lord Sydney was responsible for the entire colony.
The first European immigrants brought with them their livestock, plants, and traditional ways. Much
of this was not suitable for Australian conditions.
They also brought with them cultural beliefs including the Christian belief that man was superior to
the rest of creation and had the God given right to exploit nature. The Europeans believed that the
Aborigines were inferior and refused to use the knowledge that they had acquired about the
environment. They began a campaign of genocide with bullets, diseases, and even poison. With few
Aborigine survivors the practice of periodic burning came to an end. This led to many of the plants
and animals which had become dependent on this regular burning to die off.
Sheep ranching quickly became a major agricultural practice in Australia.
By 1860 over 20,000,000 sheep were grazing and by 1890 there were over
100,000,000 spread over the entire continent. Sheep graze in large herds and their hooves destroy the
fragile soil by trampling it down so hard that roots and water can not easily get through it. Over
grazing quickly led to soil erosion turning pastures into dust bowls. This also led to the

5. Clarissa s Decision of Marriage For women, marriage often serves to secure a position in the
society, independent of their own personal attributes like talents, abilities and even beauty. Marriage is
definitely one of the most basic and essential concerns that women are enormously engaged with.
Virginia Woolf writes Mrs. Dalloway in order to reveal the truth of life, especially the life of the

Mrs. Dalloway, Clarissa made her decision to refuse Peter Walsh and Marry Richard Dalloway.

Strengths
Lego s key strengths may be seen as coming from both its brand recognition and its ability to use
innovative technology without moving away from the company s core values. Whilst there are many
other competitors in the toy or children s entertainment market Lego remains the brand of choice in
the field of construction toys despite the fall of other long term historical brand such as Meccano (V A
2010) and the rise of alternative substitute products such as video games (BBC News 2004). As the
case study indicates despite the traditional nature of the Lego offering the company has a strong
association with contemporary IT, design and manufacturing systems which help to make the product
both more durable as well as helping to reduce manufacturing costs thus making the field of
technology as key strength for the business.
Weaknesses
Lego s key weakness in the run up to 2004 may be seen as two fold. Firstly the company has failed in
a key area of the understanding of marketing in regard to understanding the needs of their customers
which may be seen as the focal point of the marketing concept (Brassington and Pettitt 2007). This
can be clearly seen in the role out of the

compete with today s competitive business environment. Acceptance, implementation of a change can
be challenging and painful process. Change within an organization can cause tense situation which can
be disturbing to the employees. Under such circumstances, employees have low morale, and
demonstrate resistance to change. Change can fail, not because it s worth failure but because how well
that change is accepted by the people who are most affected by it. Resistance is anything that slows

Sources and Symptoms Resistance to change can cost a significant loss to the business such as project
failure, failure of new initiatives, and customer loss. Resistance is simply a reactive behavior.
Managing employee s resistance to change involves determining both its sources and symptoms. The
sources of resistance are employees perceptions of change which are the beliefs and emotions that
color their judgment. Sources are the root from which the symptoms of resistance grow. The sources
are the thinking and feeling elements of the resistance. The sources of resistance are the emotional and
intellectual responses to the change. The symptoms of resistance are employees reactions to the
change. Symptoms involve dysfunctional behaviors that result when employees act to the sources of
resistance. The symptoms are the behaviors that result from the employees thoughts and feelings about
the change. Active and Passive Reaction to change in an organization is directly linked to employees
perception about the personal impact. The symptoms of reaction can be found at every level of the
organization. Employees resistance to change can be categorized under two categories, active and
passive. The active resistance involves outwardly challenging the change; push back by openly

The Idea Of Concealed Carry Arms Essay
The idea of Concealed Carry arms at universities is a controversial topic for both students and faculty
on whether guns should be allowed or banned on campuses throughout the United States. The idea of
Concealed Carry Arms is a controversial topic because it represents both protection and fear as no one
knows who has a weapon, whether they have it legally or even if they know how to use it properly and
safely. Also, nobody knows of someone else s intentions with Concealed Carry Arms as they could use
that gun for protection or murder. The idea of allowing Concealed Carry Arms on campus is a
controversial topic that could affect universities and campuses in the United States. The University of
Toledo has had one incident this year with guns on campus. At the beginning of the semester a person
that was believed to be another student pulled a gun on another student and demanded the victim s car
keys. When the victim refused, the gunmen fired a shot at the ground then ran. This brings up the
debate of whether people can be trusted to have Concealed Carry Arms on campus or not. Such as the

Impact Of Globalization On The Chinese Economy
central Asia such as China. The expansion of these corporations promotes globalisation within the
domestic countries which, in turn promotes specialisation and induces comparative advantage. In
essence globalisation refers to the development of global relationships regarding not only economic
activity but culture and people too . It is promoted by the reduction of barriers to trade internationally
such as import quotas and tariffs put in place. History shows that the expansion of multinational
corporations promotes economic growth within the domestic economies due to the influx of foreign
direct investment. Allegedly, globalisation contributes to economic growth in both developed and
developing countries through specialisation of goods ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Zhang portrays that the export levels in China rose as a result of the expansion of multinational
corporations. This suggests that as exports are a component of aggregate demand as exports rise
aggregate demand rises meaning China s economy is growing in theory. This is supported by Sun
(2002) by showing the macroeconomic impacts that FDI induces. He recognises that FDI influences
trade flow as he sees that China s total trade volume relative to GDP rose from 15.2 percent in 1980 to
26.8 percent in 1995. The more coastal you go the more influential the foreign direct investment
contribution becomes.. Sun concludes that FDI is a form of trade creating in China. Chen (1999) ran
cross sectional regressions on 29 provinces in different years and confirmed that FDI does positively
impact upon both promoting China s host province total trade flows with the rest of the world and on
increasing bilateral trade flows between China and its trade partners. The journal raises the idea of
FDI and technological advancement promoting economic growth to be inconclusive. Naughton (1996)
highlights a number of factors that limited the impact of FDI on China s domestic economy. He states
that the FDI was distributed provincially especially in Guandong who prosper from investment
coming in from Hong Kong. Secondly, up to 1991 most of the output of FIEs was exported meaning
that the foreign firms that were present gave no significance; foreign investment also never went

Contrasting Views Of Postwar Germany
Contrasting views of postwar Germany
The major issue after World War II was what to do with Germany. All the then super powers had very
contrasting views on the issue. Various plans were suggested. The two contrasting documents that will
be compared in this paper are The Communist Leadership s Criticism of Rock n Roll Music as a Form
of Western Subversion (October 13, 1963) , and The Spiegel Affair and the Strengths and Weaknesses
of German Democracy (November 12, 1962) . Eventually, defeated Germany was carved into Soviet,
American, British and French zones of occupation. The city of Berlin, though technically part of the
Soviet zone, was also split, with the Soviets taking the eastern part of the city. The communist leader
on the East side Ulbricht closed off the access between the East and West by building the iron curtain .
This can be viewed as the official start of capitalism vs. communism and the Cold War
The political ideologies and values were different in the two regions, as well as how the economy
developed over the years. Capitalism is an economic system characterized by freedom of the market.
Capitalism has many pros to go along with its economy. Communism can be seen as an economic and
political system in which production is collectively owned and directed by the state. It also entailed
the loss of East Germany s freedom and democracy. The differences were so stark that it was like
living in two different worlds. Newer generations from East Germany have

The smell of pork chops or hamburger on the grill tends to make people s mouth water. Did you know
that farmers feed animals drug hormones? Farmers feed animals drug hormones that effect their
growth and get into the meat source? People will look at food labels and sees the FDA stamp. As
customers we tend to think that if the FDA approves the meat then we can eat the product safely.
However, many drug hormones have not only effected animals growth but also may cause harm to
customers.
Farmer try to ensure the best quality meat. Then why every thirty days are farmers injecting our
animals with drugs that could kill them or even possibly get into their meat. Researchers were finding
that ractopamine could cause animals to become sick, unhealthy or possibly could even die (Minton).
Farmers were using the drug ractopamine for animals to help animals grow faster. If animals gain
weight faster, when they go to slaughter they tend to make more money for the farmers. Growth
promotion is one of the main reason why farmers give them hormone drugs. According to Dan Charles
farmers tend too feed animals to many antibiotics, so they will later become immune to the antibiotic.

Twist s article The Crime Victims Rights Amendment and Two Good and Perfect Things in Bruce N.
Waller s book, You Decide! Current Debates in Criminal Justice argues that victims should be afforded
the right to attend trials, speak before sentencing or other significant points and bail hearings, be given
reasonable notice when an offender is to be released, and other important rights outlined in The Crime
Victims Rights Amendment. According to Twist, they insure victims place in the court system, gives
them a voice, and gains them a balance within the structure of their own offender s criminal case
(Twist 1999). He argues by focusing centrally on the defendant s rights and state, the population will
lose trust in the justice system and that victims suffer as a piece of evidence or witness for the state
and not as the injured party (Twist 1999). In addition, he states that the Essential balance is lost when
crime victims do not receive the same rights as offenders (Twist 1999). Consequently, a defendant s
rights supersede victim s rights because constitutionally overrides state legality (Twist 1999). He
discusses that previous measures toward securing victims rights have been lifeless and insufficient
because it isn t demanded by the constitution (Twist

Analysis Of The Movie The Truman Show
The media has become so powerful in today s society that it has come to the point of controlling our
daily lives. We accept the reality of the world with which we re represented. It s as simple as that .
This was said by a character in the movie, The Truman Show that was released in 1998, distributed by
Paramount Pictures, directed by Peter Weir, and includes stars such as Jim Carrey, Laura Linney,
Natasha McElhone and many more. There is a crucial need to criticize the media in order to explore
the way something is presented and to be sure that we are thinking for ourselves because the media is
not always accurate in its portrayal of facts. The Truman Show is a non stop, 24 hour live broadcast of
a man named Truman Burbank. Truman has no idea that his life is fake, full of actors, and that there
are over 5,000 hidden cameras that document his entire life, although his life and emotions are still
genuine. The show is watched by Truman fans all over the world that are addicted and can t get
enough of it. These fans want to know his every move. The creator of the show was a man named
Cristof who claims that he knows everything about Truman because he has had him trapped in a fake
city called Seahaven in a giant television studio in a super dome his whole life and watches his every
move. Everything seems to change when Truman begins to notice strange things happening around
him. For example, while on his daily routines to work he sees a hobo who looks exactly like his

Organizational Structure For Improving Hrm Effectiveness
Q1)
Organisation culture
Conceivable Means for Improving HRM Effectiveness
I say this in light I could call my own experience, and it makes sense that an individual in a position of
power can make significantly more insightful judgements on the worth and reasonableness of a part or
action in the event that they comprehend the anxieties, day by day issues, flow and intricacies of it.
Organizational Structure
Making of Rules to Govern Performance Rules should be indicated out speak to authority decisions
and exercises. These formal rules should be by and large unfaltering, intensive and viably got on. This
should supplant old structures, in which rules were either wiped out described or communicated
cryptically
Partition of Personal from Official Property and Rights Official property rights concerning for
instance machines or gadgets should have a spot with the work environment or division not the
officeholder. Singular property should be separated from power property.
Choice Based on Qualifications Officials are enrolled considering abilities, and are appointed, not
picked, to the working environment
Clear Career Paths Employment in the affiliations should be seen as a calling for powers. A power is a
full time agent, and imagines a profound established occupation
The managerial structure would to a more huge degree shield agents from subjective choices from
pioneers, and would possibly give a more unmistakable feeling that all is well with the

I Am Considered For An Assignment As Sergeant First Class...
Statement of Qualifications: To be considered for an assignment as Sergeant First Class as the Troop B
M.A.P.P.S. Coordinator. I believe that my background within the Field Operations Section is both
unique and extensive. During my 18 years within the Field Operations Section, I have been fortunate
enough to be selected to the Tactical Patrol Unit, Newark Initiative and Metro North. I found each of
these assignments to be rewarding as well as invaluable to my development as a leader. The vast
experiences that I have gained in these assignments have also prepared me for the next level of
supervision. I believe that my experience as a detective also provides me with additional insight and
experience related to investigations which distinguish me from my contemporaries. I was assigned for
two and a half years to Metro North, initially on the operations side before being selected to the
investigations side as a detective. This experience was invaluable because the environment at this
assignment is unlike any place else in the Division. This assignment provided me with the experience
of working with outside agencies, both Local, State and Federal. After spending two and a half years
at Metro North, I returned to Netcong Station as a Senior Man and was promoted to Patrol Sergeant in
2009.
As a Patrol Sergeant, I was responsible for the direct supervision of Squad Members at all critical
incidents occurring during our patrol shift. I have been designated the Incident Commander at

Evaluation And Verification Of Software Testing
Abstract:
Now a days in a commercial industry like IT, developing a software at an optimized cost is very much
necessary and that pressure is always there on each and every organization. And Software testing
forms integral part of any software life cycle. Hence, selecting the right tool for test automation at the
lowest cost possible is always important and very significant. In this project I would like to work on
comparing 2 popular functional test automation tools namely Quick Test Pro which is a licensed tool
and Selenium, an open and free source by considering various factors other than cost which is only a
price of tool. In longer run I assume even though QTP is a licensed tool it provides more flexibility
and can be useful in much ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many existing tools like Quality Center which is licensed by HP. All the stages are designed
and implemented manually from requirement analysis, designing test plan, developing test scenarios,
writing test cases, executing the test cases, defect reporting etc. The problems with manual testing are
time consuming and non reusable and no scripting facility, manual effort required and few errors are
uncovered [1]. Manual Testing is preferred to review the application requirements, and to create the
High Level design Documents and Low level design Documents [3].
On the contrast, Software Automation means automatic software design. In software development it is
significant to liberate software engineers from doing same tedious work multiple times with the
assistance of tools. Automation testing approach makes use of various tools based on the testing
requirement of the Application under Test (AUT). In Automation testing tester runs the script on the
testing tool and testing is done. The tester may or may not know the inside details of the software
module under test [9]. Therefore white box testing or black box testing can be used. White box testing
is highly effective in detecting and resolving problems, because bugs can often be found before they
cause trouble [11]. White box testing is the process of giving the input to the system and checking how
the system processes the input and generated the required

  • 2. Remote Control or Mind Control Imagine this, it s the year 2020 and you re long gone from UC s campus. You ve gotten the job you ve always wanted and finally have a family of your own. You come home from working a 15 hour shift and your three year old toddler starts throwing a tantrum about being bored but, your spouse is gone for the time being and only you can entertain the child. What do you do? Do you swallow your pride and play games, read, and or color with him or do you simply turn on the television and let SpongeBob take it away? This is a big battle that exists in today s society. Most people tend to have an opinion that media, specifically television and video games, are having long term effects on our children concerning their behavior and morals. Others, although typically outnumbered, think that the media does not heavily impact children and most children, if raised with proper care, will know the difference between right and wrong even with media present in their life. In one text, an informative, factual research style paper, the University of Michigan Health System gives insight as to why television may be more harmful than helpful to our youth using raw data from clinical researches. For my second text I have chosen a freehanded, opinion based article, written by a parent who sees nothing wrong with letting his children watch television. These two articles have different insight on the same subject considering it s discourse community, audience, and style of writing. I ll begin with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Differences in the Development of New England and the Chesapeake Region Question: Although New England and the Chesapeake region were both settled largely by people of English origin, by 1700 the regions had evolved into two distinct societies. Why did this difference in development occur? By the 1700s the two regions, New England and Chesapeake varied greatly in spite of being from the same mother country, England. Physical and cultural differences separated these two regions distinctively. While religion moulded the daily life in New England, Money and tobacco farming dominated the Chesapeake. Puritans fleeing religious persecution in England settled New England. They were a highly religious people. Document A, John ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Religious uniformity was very important as they were intolerant of any other religion, and only church members were part of the government at first. Citizens were required to attend Church services as part of the law. Most of the people in New England had been merchants or small farmers in England. In New England however, the rocky soil made it hard for a lot of farming, so the Puritans turned to the coast. They built up major industries such as shipbuilding and fishing, and established trade routes with England, and the Caribbean. The New Englanders were a very pious and hardworking people, very different from their southern neighbours. The Chesapeake region was the first region to be colonized. The first settlers had a very hard time adapting to the moist swampy climate and lack of commerce and civility that they were used to in England. Most of the early settlers were gentlemen sent by companies such as the Virginia and London Companies. They were determined to find wealth in the North American wilderness, and suffered greatly due to famine and diseases like malaria. Most of these unlucky settlers were men, which was a drawback for the new colony of Virginia because there was very little reproduction. Document C, a ships list of emigrants bound for Virginia shows the lack of families travelling to Virginia, as well as the very few women, most of them single. The men fought over these ... In the 2009 movie, Avatar, directed by James Cameron, several different archetypes can be found that help move the plot along. Avatar begins with a man named Jake Sully, who takes over his deceased brother s science mission on a faraway planet known as Pandora. On Pandora, Jake is told to gain the natives , or the Na vi, trust in order to attempt to relocate the tribe. This is necessary because the military wanted to collect a rare, valuable, mineral that lay beneath the Na vi territory. The specific tribe the movie focuses on is the Omaticaya tribe, which includes the characters seen in the movie. This connection kept him from fulfilling the wishes of the military, because Jake wanted to defend and protect the Na vi along with their land. In the end, Jake, along with the whole tribe, protected the land and the people in it from the destructive humans. In the end, Jake was able to receive his wish, and was transferred into his avatar body forever. This is the right place to start. These companies have the broadest menu of financing choices and can adjust their capital structures at relatively low cost. Yet even 40 years after the Modigliani and Miller research, our understanding of these firms financing choices is limited. We know much more about financing tactics for example the tax efficient design or timing of a specific security issue than about financing strategy, for example the firm s choice of a target overall debt level. Research on financing tactics confirms the importance of taxes, information differences and agency costs. Whether these factors have first order effects on the overall levels of debt vs. equity financing is still an open question. Debt ratios of established, public U.S. corporations vary within apparently homogenous industries. There is also variation over time, even when taxation, information differences and agency problems are apparently constant. Some Facts about Financing Most of the aggregate gross investment by U.S. nonfinancial corporations has been financed from internal cash flow (depreciation and retained earnings). External financing in most years covers less than 20 percent of real investment, and most of that financing is debt. Net stock issues are frequently negative: that is, more ... Using innovative business tactics, it absorbed or destroyed most of its competition in Cleveland in less than two months. Especially in early years, John D. Rockefeller was the single most important figure in shaping the new oil industry. He distributed power and the tasks of policy formation to a system of committees, but always remained the largest shareholder. In response to state laws trying to limit the scale of companies, Rockefeller and his associates developed innovative ways of organizing their rapidly growing company. The state of Ohio successfully sued Standard, compelling the dissolution of the trust in 1892. But Standard simply separated Standard Oil of Ohio and kept control of it. Eventually, the state of New Jersey changed its incorporation laws to allow a company to hold shares in other companies in any state. So, in 1899, the Standard Oil Trust, based at 26 Broadway in New York, was legally reborn as a holding company, the Standard Oil Co. of New Jersey, which held stock in 41 other companies, which controlled other companies, which in turn controlled yet other companies. In 1904, Standard controlled 91 percent of production and 85 percent of final sales. Most of its output was kerosene, of which 55 percent was exported around the world. After 1900 it did not try to force competitors out of business by underpricing them. In 1909, the US Department of Justice sued Standard under federal anti trust law, the Sherman Antitrust Act of 1890, for sustaining a monopoly and restraining interstate commerce by: Rebates, preferences, and other discriminatory practices in favor of the combination by railroad companies; restraint and monopolization by control of pipe lines, and unfair practices against competing pipe ... New York: Crown Publishers, 2015, 430 pp. Erik Larson s purpose of Dead Wake is to create a real life feel of the events that actually occurred on the Lusitania. It seems as if he wanted to take the evidence he acquired and create a story that would capture readers attention by the emotional connection with the characters and provide them with a map, letters, and other documents. He also seemed to want to educate his readers not only on the sinking of the ship, but all of the events that happened on the days it were at sail. Although he wrote nonfiction, he makes it as real as he can with all of the telegrams he provides. I think Larson s scope of the book is to educate in a way that is enjoyable for his readers. • 9. Application Of Dgs For Local Network Stability Introduction: Due to increased concern on energy crisis and environmental issues, power industry is shifting their power production from conventional power sources to renewable energy sources, and is incorporating it into the grid utility in the form of distributed generations (DGs). The application of DGs can enhance reliability and stability of the local network, and can reach benefit to the supplier by reducing system losses and investment on a new transmission line due to increased power consumption [1]. Power generation in the form of DGs for local and grid utility can create issues as many as it may solve. Therefore, a microgrid concept is evolved to coordinate among sources, loads, and energy storage devices for maintaining ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Inverters are able to supply controlled voltage and frequency depending on the control algorithms [3]. The characteristics of inverters are significantly different from the conventional generators; therefore, specific control algorithms are required for a stable microgrid operation [4, 5]. There are a number of publications on droop based control for facilitating high reliability and avoiding complexity of a supervisory control system [6, 12]. The droop based control algorithms are popular due to their coordination capability among various power rating units together with flexibility and reliability. The concept of droop based power control is valid for the both high voltage (HV) transmission line and low voltage (LV) distribution line, although it has some limitations. Problem formulation: To achieve consumer satisfaction in power supply and harness renewable energy, microgrids design and control are essential issues for reliable operation. As the characteristics of the distribution network and high volume power electronics penetration into the network are significantly different from the conventional power system, several issues are raised. Some of the issues, which are a promised field for future research, are described shortly below: Distribution network: In a LV distribution network, the well known P/f droop control requires much more effort than the P/V droop because predominated resistive network that naturally connects active power with ... • 10. Dwight D. Eisenhower s Speech Dwight D. Eisenhower was one of Americas most influential presidents. He ended his successful public career with a farewell speech outlining the growth of the nation and warnings about the future. Firstly, I will examine the effectiveness of Eisenhower s speech. I found his speech to be well written, it held my attention and gave a clear message to protect the future of the nation and its resources. I define a well written speech as one that can keep an audience listening and wanting more. An effective speech must also have a clear message, and not contradict itself. Eisenhower s speech concluded his second term as President on a good note, and it gave the nation critical information on national defense, innovation, and the future for our people. Eisenhower s speech gave a clear message of national pride while also giving advice on our scientific and military future. Now I will discuss the location and historical significance of the speeches. Eisenhower televised his speech live from the White House. This use of technology allowed him to reach a wide audience, some of which who would not have been able to attend his speech. The historical significance of his speech was the long successful presidency that he was handing over to the much younger John F. Kennedy. Now I will examine the structure of Eisenhower s speech. Life is a precious thing and before we sit around and let controlled burnings take control, we should protect the lives of those who protect us. Figure SEQ Figure * ARABIC 1 (Firefighters at a 911 memorial) Although health is a major issue, you must keep in mind that visibility is very important, especially if you have to drive through the thick smoke on a major highway. Loss of sight during a burn usually occurs during high peak exposures (Reinhardt 35). It is hard for firefighters to concentrate on their work because the smoke decreases their visibility so much (Reinhardt 34). Besides the danger of not being able to see while driving and a firefighter not being able to see what he is doing, it is also a negative to not be able to enjoy the beautiful nature around us when we are outside. The smoke may not last long, but it is hard to go on with day to day lives dealing with breathing let alone looking through the smoke each day. Smoke could irritate eyes for a long period of time and might possibly lead to long term damage (Reinhardt 34). Which didn t help when I was feeling home sick but since Atlanta was about an hour a way, I would go there and some aspects of the city reminded me of home. I remember starting school here and I felt like all eyes were on me probably because I was attending classes that were above my grade level. That is because the classes I had in Maryland transferred over and also because I stood out. I kept to myself that freshman year because I was trying to get the lay of the land and when sophomore year came about, I ve made some friends. Throughout my life I have always felt like something is missing in my life, I was never born into a Christian household, I wasn t brought up to go to church every Sunday. My family weekends consisted of family gatherings with alcohol, card playing and music. I never learned about God until I was around 13 years old. I always felt it was a higher power and someone that planned our destiny. Just never learned or knew much about him. Now that I am 32 years old I find myself asking and praying for God to come into my life and save me. I know that I have not lived my life according to his plans and I do want to be able to make it into his kingdom. As a young Christian woman I am tempted everyday to stir away from the things that I pray and ask for. Forgiveness, to be saved, to have eternal life with God. God hears my prayers, as a Christian I try to live right. This brings me to that in order to claim to be a Christian it does matter how you live your life, it will all be reflected back in your after life. What can your local church do to better ... She is not going to a UC, and thus he makes that point of comparison on education to show how successful I am because of my Hispanic values can surpass the concerns of an alcoholic Native American family. Everything in the universe is composed of these particles, thus everything is mortal. • 27. Reflection On Reflection-In-Action Reflection is considered as a vital element of professional practice as it precedes to insight and then subsequent change in practice. The hypothesis of reflection is not new as it can be tracked as far back in the 5th century by the influential Greek philosopher, Socrates and to the 1930s primarily focusing on John Dewey s work. Dewey is one of the founders of learning from experience. He theorised reflection as active, persistent and careful consideration (Dewey, 1933) initiated by a specific situation which was opposing, perplexing or uncertain. One of its most common use today is coming up with a thought, an idea, or opinion made or an observation made as a result of concentration, suggesting in essence a way of thinking in which one looks back and meditate upon (Agnes, 2004). In 1938, Donald Schon s The Reflective Practitioner: How Professionals Think in Action was published. He promoted two types of reflection, which he referred to as 1) reflection on action and 2) reflection in action (Somerville and Keeling, 2004). Not only does it portray the conventions of new wave cinema but it also depicts the existentialist themes that are presented throughout. New wave cinema was typically low budget and this is presented in the climactic scene of Breathless. The scene was shot on location and included a lot of jump cuts and disjointed editing. However, despite appearing to be unprofessional and unpolished, Breathless evokes a sense of harsh realism that is present in contemporary relationships. The expansion of these corporations promotes globalisation within the domestic countries which, in turn promotes specialisation and induces comparative advantage. In essence globalisation refers to the development of global relationships regarding not only economic activity but culture and people too . It is promoted by the reduction of barriers to trade internationally such as import quotas and tariffs put in place. History shows that the expansion of multinational corporations promotes economic growth within the domestic economies due to the influx of foreign direct investment. Zhang portrays that the export levels in China rose as a result of the expansion of multinational corporations. This suggests that as exports are a component of aggregate demand as exports rise aggregate demand rises meaning China s economy is growing in theory. This is supported by Sun (2002) by showing the macroeconomic impacts that FDI induces. He recognises that FDI influences trade flow as he sees that China s total trade volume relative to GDP rose from 15.2 percent in 1980 to 26.8 percent in 1995. The more coastal you go the more influential the foreign direct investment contribution becomes.. Sun concludes that FDI is a form of trade creating in China. Chen (1999) ran cross sectional regressions on 29 provinces in different years and confirmed that FDI does positively impact upon both promoting China s host province total trade flows with the rest of the world and on increasing bilateral trade flows between China and its trade partners. The journal raises the idea of FDI and technological advancement promoting economic growth to be inconclusive. Naughton (1996) highlights a number of factors that limited the impact of FDI on China s domestic economy. He states that the FDI was distributed provincially especially in Guandong who prosper from investment coming in from Hong Kong. All the then super powers had very contrasting views on the issue. Various plans were suggested. The two contrasting documents that will be compared in this paper are The Communist Leadership s Criticism of Rock n Roll Music as a Form of Western Subversion (October 13, 1963) , and The Spiegel Affair and the Strengths and Weaknesses of German Democracy (November 12, 1962) . Eventually, defeated Germany was carved into Soviet, American, British and French zones of occupation. The city of Berlin, though technically part of the Soviet zone, was also split, with the Soviets taking the eastern part of the city. The communist leader on the East side Ulbricht closed off the access between the East and West by building the iron curtain . This can be viewed as the official start of capitalism vs. communism and the Cold War The political ideologies and values were different in the two regions, as well as how the economy developed over the years. Capitalism is an economic system characterized by freedom of the market. Capitalism has many pros to go along with its economy. Communism can be seen as an economic and political system in which production is collectively owned and directed by the state. It also entailed the loss of East Germany s freedom and democracy. I believe that my background within the Field Operations Section is both unique and extensive. During my 18 years within the Field Operations Section, I have been fortunate enough to be selected to the Tactical Patrol Unit, Newark Initiative and Metro North. I found each of these assignments to be rewarding as well as invaluable to my development as a leader. The vast experiences that I have gained in these assignments have also prepared me for the next level of supervision. I believe that my experience as a detective also provides me with additional insight and experience related to investigations which distinguish me from my contemporaries. I was assigned for two and a half years to Metro North, initially on the operations side before being selected to the investigations side as a detective. This experience was invaluable because the environment at this assignment is unlike any place else in the Division. This assignment provided me with the experience of working with outside agencies, both Local, State and Federal. After spending two and a half years at Metro North, I returned to Netcong Station as a Senior Man and was promoted to Patrol Sergeant in 2009. As a Patrol Sergeant, I was responsible for the direct supervision of Squad Members at all critical incidents occurring during our patrol shift. I have been designated the Incident Commander at ... All the stages are designed and implemented manually from requirement analysis, designing test plan, developing test scenarios, writing test cases, executing the test cases, defect reporting etc. The problems with manual testing are time consuming and non reusable and no scripting facility, manual effort required and few errors are uncovered [1]. Manual Testing is preferred to review the application requirements, and to create the High Level design Documents and Low level design Documents [3]. On the contrast, Software Automation means automatic software design. In software development it is significant to liberate software engineers from doing same tedious work multiple times with the assistance of tools. Automation testing approach makes use of various tools based on the testing requirement of the Application under Test (AUT). In Automation testing tester runs the script on the testing tool and testing is done. The tester may or may not know the inside details of the software module under test [9]. Therefore white box testing or black box testing can be used. White box testing is highly effective in detecting and resolving problems, because bugs can often be found before they cause trouble [11].
