Examples Of TKI Conflict Mode Questionnaire
N20: 2016Your Name: Mireille Villa Name of Questionnaire or Scale: Thomas Kilmann TKI
Conflict Mode Questionnaire Findings / scores: Accommodating Analysis of findings: I dislike
conflict and would do whatever possible to avoid it. Thus, when I took the conflict managing
questionnaire and received the title of accommodating, I knew that there was no mistake. In a
dispute, I would allow the other person to get what they want and not project or accomplish my
own. I do not want to upset anyone in any way; I only want to be kind to and support the person.
At the same time, I feel that giving and satisfying someone else s needs would be more rewarding
than if I were to satisfy my own. This point of view has become engrained in me that I find it

It is said that being acquainted with one s body would make speaking one s mind an easier task.
Therefore, I would start small and begin by practicing nonverbal assertive behaviors such as
making eye contact, maintaining an open rather than closed posture, keeping my composure,
and not backing off from the other person in any conversation. Then, once I am comfortable with
this step and encounter conflict, I can take my time to reflect on the problem, and create a plan
of action. Part of this plan would consist of creating an outline of what I would say. To make this
task easier, Lachman s formulas of model behavior, such as When you do X, I feel Y because Z,
and what I d like instead is [request behavior change] , would come in handy. The task of
assertively responding would become less strenuous, because I would have these formulas or
examples of what an assertive person would say and what I can follow. Additionally, it would
make me more confident and allow me to express my feelings more clearly than if I had to

Lord Voldemort Research Paper
A film wouldn t be complete without a villain. The entire film would be pointless and boring,
villains makes everything so exciting. Imagine Batman without Joker, Harry Potter without
Voldemort, Professor X without Magneto, Thor without Loki, and Luke Skywalker without
Darth Vader. Some people loves to hate villains especially if those villains are portrayed by such
amazing actors. They said that if the villains in a film or a television show is not hated by its
viewers, that would mean they re not doing a good job at it. However, there are villains that are
just so good that people actually loves them more than the main protagonists. According to a

Lord Voldemort is portrayed by the amazing British actor, Ralph Fiennes. One of the reasons
why he is such an unforgettable villain is the fact that he is pure evil and a real psychopath. He
is not capable of feeling any positive emotion since he never felt any affection. He is extremely
sadistic, because he just loves to torture anyone, he finds pleasure when somebody dies or gets
hurt. He was conceived with a use of a love potion and grew up in an orphanage before getting
into Hogwarts. He longs for power to be able to rule both the wizarding world and the muggle
world with all of his loyal followers. No one matters to him besides himself, he is considered to
be the most self centered villain. What makes him so frightening is that he is incredibly skilled
and clever that it seems so impossible to outsmart him. However, what gives people the creeps
is his looks, J.K. Rowling, the author, made sure to make him look like a snake, hence why he
doesn t have a nose, his skin also looks so pale that makes him look like he s not human at all,
and most of all, his expressions and the way that he smiles looks like he just came out of hell.

Essay on Internal Controls Case Study
October 1, 2011
I was asked to give my recommendations on LJB Company s internal control system before the
company decides to go public in the future. Based on my review of the information that I have been
given, the following are my recommendations for new internal controls: 1. Establishment of
Responsibility 2. Segregation of Duties 3. Human Resources Control 4. Independent Internal
Verification 5. Physical controls
It is good to see that LJB recognizes the efforts of its long term employees by rewarding them with
additional responsibilities. This shows that the employees are valued. There are also some physical
controls in place to secure company checks from being mishandled or stolen. Documentation

The Independent Internal Verification control is also being violated because the data that eh
accountant has been providing has not been verified by any other personnel in your company. It is
simply being recorded and reported by him only. The company s petty cash is being handled by all
employees and they are only being asked to leave a note in the drawer when it is being used. Why
are all employees being allowed to have access to the petty cash fund? How do you know that it is
being used to benefit the company, not the employee? Why is the cash not locked away instead
of being placed in a desk drawer? This violates the Human Resources Control as well as the
Physical Control. Employees who handle cash should be bonded and all cash should be locked
away. Receipts or other means of record keeping should be provided when petty cash is used, not
notes left in the drawer. The company does not have individual passwords assigned to employees
for computer use. This also is a violation of Physical Controls. Thorough background checks are not
being done on employees before they are hired. This violates the Human Resources Control. If this
had been done, the employee that had been convicted of child molestation would have never been
hired. The accountant should not be interviewing and approving new hires. This goes against the
Establishment of Responsibility control. The accountant has too many roles within the company
that should be assigned to

Anabolic Steroids In The Sports World
In today s sports world, performance enhancing drugs have become more and more of a
problem. Famous athletes with records upon records do not always play by the rules. Celebrities
with countless amounts of fans and admires turn out to be nothing but a cheater. These athletes
are paid millions of dollars to simply perform, entertain, and follow the rules of their respected

The Hukou System Is The Door Guard Of The Command Economy
The hukou system is the door guard of the command economy. Discuss.
Introduction
Hukou is a household registration system that the government uses it to control migration of the
population (Zhang, 29). Simply put, hukou is a migration control system. Typologically speaking,
hukou is an official identification system that records a resident s presence including his or her
name, birth, economic power and rank, employment status, and other relevant information. The
establishment of the PRC (People s Republic of China) Regulations on Household Registration in
1958 classifies the population into two types Agriculture and non agriculture hukou. This dual
classification determines one s entitlements to state provided goods and services. Hukou ... Show

Indeed, it is possible. The government can use a complex and traditional way to allocate the
resources and social welfare within the country, in the meantime, maintain its control to individuals.
However, without the enforcement of the hukou system, meaning that the hukou system is not a
door guard of the command economy, the economy would develop in a relatively less efficiency
and a less convenient way. Obstruction may happen, as the government would require doing a lot of
complex work in allocating the resources and social welfares. Nevertheless, one has to understand
that production, investment, prices, and incomes determine centrally by the government under the
command economic system. The hukou system not only separates the population into two
categories but also regulates internal migration. Consider of that, the hukou system becomes a
perfect choice in implementing a command economic system. This is because the hukou system
not only ease government s burden but also curb the growth of the urban population; restricting
rural residents from moving into urban centres, where places usually have a better living
environments. As a door guard, the hukou system is convenience for government to launch new
policy while keep facilitating a command

The core objectives of SPC are to provide productivity and quality information about production
processes in real time. The principles of SPC take into account the following: All processes have
unique characteristics or hidden personalities that are inherent within them Data analysis provides
in depth understanding of process variations and identifies improvement opportunities Success in
real time SPC requires that measurement data be accurate, and collected in a timely manner.
Various gauging devices are used to ensure that a specific measurement is taken and recorded. SPC
software programs collect and store this data, analyzing it and creating graphs instantaneously. As a
factory floor application, that can be extended up to corporate offices and throughout the enterprise,
SPC software delivers vital quality data upstream to Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES). By
integrating live production data into enterprise wise systems, SPC plays a vital role in the business
continuous improvement strategy. SPC solutions are designed to allow companies to plan and
structure long term strategies and bring short term quality improvements into view. The scope,

Man s Search For Meaning Essay
I am going to guess that the reader of this essay is not a holocaust survivor. I can almost
guarantee it. Although you re not a survivor of one of the most horrific events in history, it does
not mean you will have no feelings about it if you were to hear some stories. I call them stories
because most books written of such detail are mere personal experiences and not factual,
historical information. Speaking of personal experiences, I took the time to read a book about a
man named Viktor Emil Frankl (26 March 1905 2 September 1997).В№ He was an Austrian
neurologist and psychiatrist as well as a Holocaust survivor. The book is called Man s Search for

ideas of existential treatment, so I will move here to my evaluation and reaction to Frankl s
book. To start with, I need to repeat that this book is a superb read. For anybody new to the
outrages of a death camp, the tale of human triumph even with such barbarities alone is justified
regardless of the read. It also gives a rule to engage people to take liability for their life, and to
make importance in it. It gives a model of living over the impact of condition. The initial stage is
portrayed by the indication of shock. Frankl speaks of his entry via train at the notorious
Auschwitz, when he and his kindred detainees underlying stun and frightfulness rapidly offered a
path to the condition known as the delusion of reprieve , the conviction that they would be spared
at last, that things couldn t be as horrendous as they appeared. Frankl portrays how, not for the last

The Importance Of Work In The Workplace
For many employed people, a workplace is like a second home. According to the Organisation
for Economic Co operation and Development in 2016 in the United States, the annual hours
actually worked per worker on their main job is 1,783 hours (OECD, 2017). The atmosphere of
a workplace contributes to the mental and emotional wellness of its employees and the
productivity of an organization, as a whole; therefore, it is important to establish consistent
house rules or guidelines to communicate to both management and employees how to conduct
themselves for the goodwill of the company and its people. Every person at an organization
brings a diverse set of individual needs and motivations apart from the company s primary
agenda. Despite their commitment to perform their specific work responsibilities while in the
workplace, each person obligates himself or herself to non work urgencies that can produce
interruptions within the boundaries of their required duty to an organization (Casper DePaulo,
2012). Such non work urgencies may involve a spouse or a child for a partnered employee;
therefore, many organizations establish family friendly policies in consideration of a partnered
employee s life outside of the workplace or the exceeding obligations of a person with parental
responsibilities (Casper DePaulo, 2012, p. 232). Family friendly policies could include a flexible
work schedule with the option to telecommute some days, or extra time off to care for an ill partner

The Two Shuttle Disasters
The case study of the two shuttle disasters, the Challenger occurred on January 28th 1986, and
the Columbia occurred on February 1st, 2003. Both majestic and yet mournful due to the loss of
life on both mission. The Challenger shuttle flight, OV 099 mission STS 51 L, broke apart 73
seconds into its flight, leading to the deaths of all crew members which included five astronauts
and two payload specialists. The Challenger disaster was especially traumatic because young
students watched television that were placed in their classrooms so they could watch the launch
that day. It was fascinating that a school teacher was on board as a payload specialist (NASA,
1986.) With a school teacher aboard the flight, it had sparked many interests because at several at
young age, understood that education was vital as to why there was such a failure and prevent
future disasters. The Columbia mission, STS 107, was interesting because the public was more
aware of the risk that was being taken upon re entry. During the launch a piece of insulating foam
broke away from the external tank surface, striking the left wing. In previous missions there had
been evidence of this occurring which to engineers was seen as minor. In the case of the Columbia
craft failure, it was more serious because the damaged section of the wing was damaged to the
extent of which it allowed hot atmospheric gases to penetrate the structure of the wing, pulling it
apart, rendering the craft unstable. Once the structure

Responsibility For Carbon Emission Reduction

Responsibility for Carbon Emission Reduction
Nowadays, climate change has become an increasingly crucial problem for the whole world. To
figure out this problem, the United Nations holds an annual climate summit which discusses how to
respond to global climate change, and promote world wide actions to promote the progress of
Copenhagen and Kyoto Protocol. In the Copenhagen conference, 2009, a framework for climate
change migration beyond 2012 was to be agreed.
As we all known, there was a series of intense conversations between developed countries and
developing countries about the carbon dioxide emission cup for each country. On one hand,
BASIC countries, the representative of developing countries, held that they were developing and
needed large amount of carbon dioxide emission in industrial development. On the other hand, the
American and European Union, the representative of developed countries, argued that
developing countries cannot take the risk of pollution in order to develop its own science and
economy; therefore they should take a large part of responsibility of global climate change. The
purposed changed of absolute emission for America is 4% but for China or Indian is 20% even
40% reduction for 2005 2020. From my perspective, this is too hard and tough for developing
countries to complete. And developed countries should do better than 4% or 5%.
For developed countries, like the US, some people think that these countries

ambushed the Americans resulting as war. During the ambush Rowe, Rocky, and Dan are

Functions Of A Steady State Exercise Essay
Assign 3794
3.Steady state exercise is the activity where we perform while maintaining the same heart and
muscle movements. Steady state exercise affects many body functions. If the steady state exercise
performed for months consistently, it will increase the overall endurance of an individual. The
below are the certain physiological functions affected during steady state:
Cardiac output: The aerobic exercise performed at steady rate causes the body to increase the
amount of blood pumped by the heart. Cardiac output is determined by stroke volume and heart
rate. The Stroke volume is defined as the quantity of blood pumped at each heart beat, while the
body going from rest to steady state exercise. Cardiac output increases rapidly even more
gradually until it reaches a plateau. By that time we develop an increased number of capillaries,
greater opening of existing capillaries, more effective blood redistribution and increased blood
volume. Due to this, capillaries improve the body ability to deliver oxygen and nutrients to muscle
and also to remove the waste products.
Cardiac output is generally calculated by:
Cardiac output = Heart rate * Stroke volume
Blood pressure: The blood pressure of an individual is affected before and after reaching the
steady state. .There is increase in the systolic and diastolic blood pressure during steady state.
These increases in the pressure represent the pressure in arteries. This pressure is while the heart is
contracting and

Taking a Look at Escherichia Coli
Escherichia coli is a gram negative bacillus that is facultatively anaerobic and which is classified
as part of the Enterobacteriaceae family. It is most commonly found in the lower intestines of
warm blooded organisms although it is capable of surviving outside of the host for an extended
time and may be spread through contact of infected fecal matter as well as personal contact with an
infected host. Several strains of E. coli live in endotherms as part of the normal flora of the gut and
provide their hosts with benefits such as the production of vitamin K2 and the prevention of
establishment of the intestines by pathogenic bacteriathereby forming a mutualistic relationship
with their hosts. There are five strains of E. coli which can cause gastroenteritis in people through
the production of shiga toxins leading to illness and even death. However E. coli has been a large
part of many valuable contributions to science for the last 60 years due to its genetic simplicity as
well as its fast growth and inexpensive culturing requirements.
Escherichia coli is a well studied prokaryote and may be considered a foundation of biotechnology
with the work of Herbert Boyer and Stanley Norman Cohen who used E. coli plasmids in
conjunction with restriction enzymes and produced recombinant DNA.1 Even before the
application of the rDNA technology, the first industrial application of E. coli being the production

Biodiesel And Its Effects On Our Environment
Biodiesel is a fuel similar to diesel derived from a plant source, like corn, used vegetable oil, or
even algae. This biofuel is created from renewable resources to replace the low source of fossil
fuels that is unfortunately nonrenewable. Because of this situation society was basically coerced
into finding a substitute. While the price is getting higher due to recent events between the United
States (U.S. )and Third World Countries. Due to these situations society had to come up with a
cheaper, renewable source of fuel. Biodieselis the key to releasing the chains of restraint that have
been placed upon citizens by those third world countries. Society can take that crop, oil, or pond
scum to make a biodiesel we can save our environment, and economy. As said before, it is the
key to the public s restraint, as well as our future and fresh air. Biodiesel will also help with the
noise pollution because we will be using less of the oil well boom to get the crude oil. Another
bonus would be there would be less fracking which means less harmful chemical and natural gas
getting into people s water supply. Meaning there will be less flammable water coming out of a
household faucet. Because when they frack using water with a thickening agent of some kind to
help create pressure. that pressure is used to crack the shale rock that is holding the natural gas.
When that gas is released it contaminates nearby drinking water with the chemical used to make the
thickening agent. while

What Is Lyra s Journey Of Growing Up
Growing up isn t as easy as it seems, it s a very difficult process that we go through in our life.
Like from the novel Northern Lights by the author Philip Pullman, Lyra became her own
individual once she went against her mother and said no to the separation she wasn t as innocent
as we would had thought. All children grow up but some people as they get older they grow
apart from their inner self, from who they really are either to fit in to or for religious reasons.
Like Lyra s mom who was so distant from her soul (daemon), she grew to be an alien and
stranger to herself, she didn t actually reach adulthood as an individual. While on the other hand,
Lyra developed at a very young age and became more mature than her own parents. Her
cleverness and disobedient character and her insistence on becoming something gave her the
chance to mature. To grow up isn t just a physical change in appearance, it s more of a mental
and spiritual growth. Just like what we noticed between Lyra and her mom in the book Northern
Lights that was about the journey of growing up and how some adults never do. This paper will

She didn t accept her mother s choices and actions so she had to find her own path in life. Her
mom was not a responsible adult so Lyra could not allow herself to be like her. The only reason
Lyra had to be disobedient was because of her parents beliefs, she couldn t accept the separation
and what they were doing to the children. To her the way they treated children was pure cruelty. A
lot of critics said that Pullman was against religion and he was encouraging children to disobey
their parents. But he wasn t. He was actually trying to help people think about who they really are
and stop pretending to be something they are not, and he wanted to encourage children to follow

Democratic Individualism in Walt Whitman Poetry
Democratic Individualism in Whitman s Poetry
Walt Whitman will remain as a well known, superb poet. Clarence Brown stated, the words of
someone speaking on Walt Whitman, He is the only one of the conventionally recognized American
poets who is worth reading (37). Walt Whitman is a poet that writes with purpose. His poetry seems
to attempt to teach the more desirable behavior and traits for Americans. It depicts the ideal
American democrat, peace maker, and a well rounded person, in general. Not that Walt Whitmanis
only about democracy. He focuses on an important end result which is the happiness and function
of the overall body of people. This happiness can be achieved efficiently through democracy and
democratic behavior, according to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Walt Whitman s fame is not just about his passion for democracy. Van Wyck Brooks stated that
the real reason that Whitman is so relevant is that for the first time [he] gave us the sense of
something organic in American life (112) and precipitated the American character (118).
However, democracy is about social equality, fairness, and choice. A democratic body is one that
works together to achieve things that are beneficial to all. To Walt, the goal that was worth
working for was the preservation of those who are ill or injured, especially due to the war.
George Kateb wrote about Whitman and the purpose of democracy. Whitman tries to draw out
the fuller moral and existential significance of rights. There are rights that individuals have as
persons, and that the political system of democracy exists in order to protect, and also to
embody in its workings (546). We appreciate Walt Whitman for explaining the riches of life
while reaping the benefits of democracy. As Kateb stated, individuals have their own identity
within the overall body but they also work towards preserving and benefiting the overall body as
well. So, when citizens are injured or weak, it is our job to be a support system just as Walt
Whitman did many years prior. According to Kateb, This responsiveness or receptivity can also be
described as a way a profoundly democratic way of being connected to

The Benefits Of New Media And Technology
What is the self in the digital age? One might say that their true online self is on Facebook, or
MySpace, or maybe Instagram. The splintering of the self into multiple versions illustrates a desire
to see what one can be online. Truly, new media and technology has allowed one to find their true
inner self, whether that reflect their real self in real life or not. Yet, not everyone sees these
disparate selves with optimism. Sherry Turkle and Natasha SchГјll see the growth of new mediaand
technology as detrimental to the formation of our true selves and both critically analyze specific
cases where it can be harmful. I, however, disagree with the sentiment that new media and
technology is something inherently harmful. Although they can certainly be misused, the benefits
of these digital innovations can, when applied with critical understanding, outweigh the negatives
brought up by Turkle and SchГјll. First, Turkle argues that social media is preventing adolescents
from dedicating time to self reflection and replacing face to face communication with online
communication. Turkle states in her book, Alone Together, that teens need time to discover
themselves, time to think. But technology, put in the service of always on communication and
telegraphic speed and brevity, has changed the rules of engagement with all of this. Here, Turkle
state that since social media is easily accessible and immediate, teenagers will be compelled to
interact online, instead of taking the

Comparison Of Percy Jackson The Lightning Thief Movie Vs Book
Some people say movies are the way to the heart, but have you ever read a book? Books are way
more descriptive than movies because they add so many more important details. Movies are not
as descriptive because they try squishing an eleven hour reading into a two hour screening.
Finally, movies always leave out important scenes and characters. On the other hand movies are
pretty cool because they do have some pretty creative images that you would have never imagined
before. The book version of Percy Jackson The Lightning Thief is better than the movie version
because the book includes characters like Ares, Cerberus, and the Three Kindly Ones. The first
important character to the story is Ares for many reasons. First reason is he stole Hades s... Show

Cerberus is a super nice dog that is super cute. He is also the creature who guards the entrance to
the underworld. Finally, Cerberus loves Annabeth, is her friend, and obeys her commands.
Even though he is a cool character, he is not the most important to the storyline. He still adds
detail to the storyline though, because he guards the underworld so people who aren t supposed
to be in the underworld get in. As you can see, Cerberus is an important character to the story.
Finally the Three Kindly Ones are important to the story for a variety of reasons. First, one of
them is Mrs. Dodds his old Pre Algebra teacher. Second, they won t stop trying to kill Percy
Jackson. Finally, after they get killed they come back to life. They aren t as important as other
characters because they didn t even hurt Percy once. That shows they are in the story but not
necessarily important to the storyline, but they are still fun to read about. Ms. Dodds is the only
one that is very important to the storyline, that s why she is in the movie too. However, they do
work for Hades and he wants them to get the helm for him. Even though they didn t hurt Percy they
still scared him and attacked many times, which makes the book more interesting. That s why the
Three Kindly Ones make the book more

Essay on Self-Esteem
Self Esteem over Logic and Beliefs
Columbia College, Missouri
Abstract
Self Esteem gives a person the right to value themselves. Our self esteem sometimes overpowers
our logic, and can lead us to act in ways that are not always our own. This paper examines how the
following theories; Theory of Cognitive Dissonance, Self Evaluation Maintenance Theory, Self
Affirmation Theory, Rationalization Trap and Self Discrepancy Theory impact a person s self
esteem decisions. Where people in different cases come to realize that the choices they have made
overpower their superior perfect logic, they have to deal with the consequences that come along
with the choices they have made.
Self Esteem over Logic and Beliefs
According to Cherry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This clearly shows how elements of life depend on the type of knowledge and wisdom used.
When we use this knowledge and wisdom, we can better the strategies we have so that we can
achieve more. It should also be stated that individuals have different ways of looking at conflicts
or situations. Because of this vast difference, the way they accomplish tasks differs as well. Note
that when someone does not carry out his strategies well, they are bound to fail.
Theory of Cognitive Dissonance Cognitive dissonance can be defined as a feeling of
discomfort caused by performing an action that runs counter to one s customary (typically
positive) conception of oneself (Aronson, Wilson amp; Akert, 2010). The body s natural way of
keeping one s self esteem high is to counteract that by either changing our actions or to talk
ourselves into believing that what we have done was the right thing to do in the moment (2010).
For example, a female student chooses to take a job stripping in a night club after spending three
months looking for a job. She struggles with this decision mentally because she was raised in a
strict, religious household. Her up bringing and the need to pay tuition become two points that
challenge her positive self esteem. The female student will make concessions to her beliefs to keep
her self esteem high saying things like this is my only choice so

Comparing The Hitchhiker s Guide To The Galaxy By Douglas...
One of the most fundamental philosophical problems to be solved is the question: what is the
meaning of life? According to Albert Camus, a French existentialist writer and philosopher, a one
s urge to find the ultimate answer for the question is rather absurd. He believed that people search
for the meaning of anything is vain because a source of meaning as such is non existent. In
addition to that, Camus literary works are often associated to the idea of absurdismand that is the
thing he and Douglas Adams have in common.
Therefore, the main focus of my essay is absurdity, as it is the main theme in the work of Douglas
Adams, The Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy. But why has Adams chosen it to be one of The
Hitchhiker s leading topics?
Of course, one can argue that there cannot be a proper sci fi novel without a certain level of
absurdity included. Douglas Adams appears to agree with the idea but at the same time he seems to
believe in everything in moderation kind of approach. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Taking into account the author s intentions, after a detailed analysis I incline to the hypothesis
that Adams used the absurd as a means of expression of deeper human emotions such as anxiety,
discontent or despair. In my opinion that is the reason why he chose to include the absurd in the
story in the first place. Personally, I can understand his intentions, as it is very likely that no reader
would like a pessimistic story dealing with topics so complex and depressing, and that is why the
absurd is in

The Conflict With Peace And Honor

one conflict that you need to solve the rights way or it will damage you. When I was younger, I

Christine De Pizan wanted to solve a conflict with peace and honor while, Machiavelli wanted to
you to face your conflicts head on by showing them you don t fear them. I believe that is the way
I should have solved this conflict telling on them, speak up for yourself, and fight back. You
could always bully back but then are just as bad. Tell someone (snitch) on them let them pay

friends, that what happens between friend stays with friends. Though they weren t my friends, so I
should have told someone and let them deal with the consequence. I am saying this because, you
would not be the bad guy for protecting yourself from negative change. Machiavelli state, Love

people never forget. (17.5) People that bully put fear into people so they won t get in trouble. When

The Theme Of Courage In Nicholas Sparks s Safe Haven
It was him, looming over them, a gun at his side. Kevin (Sparks 309). A battered wife, Katie,
runs away to a small town in North Carolina called Southport, in order to start a new life. She is
a waitress at a local restaurant there, but keeps a low profile. She soon meets a widower named
Alex and his children, and finally begins to feel safe. Just as Katie has moved on, her abusive

Now, the past is no longer in the past. In his 2010 novel Safe Haven, Nicholas Sparksuses the theme
of courage to demonstrate that a person has to do what is ultimately best for them and what it takes
to survive, reinforcing this theme by building Katie s complex background and illustrating her fight
for freedom.
Katie shows courage by leaving her husband, despite how scared she was to finally do it after
three years of torture. She explains her feelings and experiences to her only friend in Southport

Colonization of Gibraltar The Rock of Gibraltar towers over the land. Gibraltar has served both
as a sacred sacrificial site to a towering fortress, and has shown up time and time again in
European history. Due to its strategic location, Gibraltar has been involved in many wars from the
Spanish Succession to World War II. The rock lies at the neck of the Strait of Gibraltar, the last
point before Mediterranean joins the Atlantic. Here, five million years ago, the Atlantic waters
breached the Strait of Gibraltar and the Mediterranean was created. The history of Gibraltar, like so

Gibraltar finally fell into British hands as part of the War of the Spanish Succession. An
operation against the French, it was intended to prevent the French from inheriting the Spanish

within the Atlantic and the Caribbean. They hoped this expedition into the Mediterranean
would aid them in establishing a bridgehead in which they could pressure Madrid. In May 1704,
Admiral Rooke took 49 ships into the Mediterranean Sea. They were diverted from Nice when
they received news that two fleets of opposition had entered the Mediterranean. This force

in place. (Vieille, 2010) Within the zeitgeist of post war society where rates of urbanisation
soared, Maori people comprised 80% of the rural population and over the next forty years, the
Maori rural population decreased as many became a part of the urban population. (Durie, 2007)
This demographic revolution occurred due to the government s acquisition of land, resulting in
great changes with many Maori being disconnected from their traditional ways of life. (Durie,
2007) As these shifts continued, support networks of the whanau or extended families which were
once source of strength of maori communities slowly disappeared and maori were become more
often at the receiving end of hostile behaviour. (Durie, 2007) Mana in this new urban society was
measured differently and it was regarded more in terms of material possessions in comparison with
the society they were used to which recognized mana as a sacred spiritual element within individual
dignity. (Durie, 2007) The influence of the marae on the individual and the

High School Schedule Essay
Many secondary schools are beginning to question the impact that a school schedule has on student
learning. Some schools are trying innovative schedules designed to provide choice and variety for
high school students. Recently, San Luis Obispo High School was asked by our Superintendent to
reconsider our current trimester schedule (see Appendices, Figure D) and review other alternative
schedules that would benefit the increasingly diverse students of San Luis Obispo. Students,
parents, and many teachers have been upset by this request and fail to see the validity of changing
the schedule. Teachers were told that the trimester schedule is inequitable as the three trimesters
equate to two semesters, thus students at SLOHS are receiving an unfair advantage over students at
our sister school, Morro Bay High School. Additionally, the claim was made that those students
who are socio economically... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The issues that MBHS has faced with the rotating block have to do with the length of classes
and the problem of not seeing all students every day. Teachers at MBHS claim that students have
a difficult time staying focused in classes that last 110 minutes per day. Additionally, teachers do
not see all students every day, and sometimes even for multiple days when students are involved
in athletics. As MBHS went through the process of reviewing their daily schedule they focused
on reducing minutes based on periods taught and consistently seeing students every single day, or
at least four out of the five days of the week. MBHS staff devised a hybrid block semester
schedule (see Appendices, Figure G) which will go up against their traditional rotating block on the
ballot. Similiar to SLOHS, our Superintendent and Board of Eduaction will make the final decision
after the votes are

Predominantly White Institution ( Pwi )
Predominantly white institution (PWI) is a term used to describe institutions of higher learning,
particularly four year colleges and universities, in which Whites make up 50% or more of the
student demographics (Sage Pub). Predominantly White colleges and universities are different from
other colleges and universities that serve students with different ethnic, racial, and cultural
backgrounds, such as historically Black colleges and universities(HBCU). Being an African
Americanat an PWI can be intimidating. I myself endure this task everyday. People think that its
just like attending any other university, but it has its own hardships, from statistics to stereotypes
made about African Americans. Not only that, but just feeling like you... Show more content on

However, approximately 85%, of Black students attend PWIs. (Black Gendare Port) I myself fall
into this percentile dealing with the Black students attending PWI s. I know your thinking why
not go to an HBCU where I am more likely to be successful. In spite of that, UNF ranks 18 out of
131 for the leading registered nursing program in Florida. The rankings are based on the current
and the past pass rates of NCLEX RN which is a standardized exam for entry level nurses. UNF
has a current pass rate of 94.04, which surpasses the national pass rate of 85.26. (UNF.edu) My
dream profession is to become a nurse. I wanted to go to a prestigious school that would help
benefit me in the most accommodating way. Attending UNF helped me realize that no matter the
circumstances I want to be successful at all cost. Yet, it is still nerve wrecking to know that your
trying to beat the odds.
My social identity that I identify with UNF is an African American. The university helps me
focus on my social identity each and everyday. I standout everyday just due to my color.
Although, there are other things that make me feel different from my peers. For instance, the
way I dress. Many of the girls like to wear more laid back and chill clothing like sweat pants, soft
shorts, big shirts, and flipflops. Where I like to actually dress up with name brand clothing, skirts,
and tennis shoes. So, sometimes I feel like I am over dressing or doing to much

Master and Man by Leo Tolstoy
Master and Man by Leo Tolstoy is a story that explores the dynamics between a peasant, Nakita and
his master,Vasillii Andriech. Andriech foolishly risks both of their lives, when they venture to
another town in inclement weather to secure a business deal. Unfortunately, Andreich s impatience
and greed ultimately leads to his demise. At the end of the story Nikitadies and is denied the same
bliss that Vasillii Andreich experiences in death; in order to solidify the dichotomy between these
two men, demonstrate how Andriech cheated Nakita, and he uses Nakita s lackluster death to
amplify Andriech s extraordinary passing. Nikita and Vasillii Andriech are opposites in their
socioeconomic status and their character. Nikita is a helpful, compassionate, and prudent man;
while Andreich is a narcissistic, opportunistic, and impetuous man. Nakita is caring enough to
accompany on the trip, but Andriech is unappreciative and views Nakita as a hindrance to his
success. Nakita is compassionate, this is revealed when he covers the horse in the cold. Andriech
is uncharitable, does not even think to offer poor Nakita a coat to wear for the trip in the
snowstorm. During their trip, Nakita is the voice of reason and Andieich fool hearty too concerned
with securing his business deal than their saftey. When they are facing death Nakita thinks of the
people that he has let down and feels remorsful; meanwhile, Andriech worries more about losing the
opportunity to become more wealthy.

Ideology Of Punk Rock Ideology
What is punk rock? How many people know the real definition? Punk rocks values, attitude, and
ideologies? Punk rock isn t just a style or a scene but a way of life. It all started in the late 1970s,
originating from the working class angst and frustrations many youth were feeling about the
economic inequality. One of punks main oppositions was rejection of mainstream, corporate mass
culture and its values. It continued to evolve its ideology of anti racist and anti sexist belief systems
as the movement spread from its origins in England and New York to Northern America. The
attitude common in the subculture is the resistance to selling out, which means abandoning one s
values and changing in musical style toward pop to embrace anything that s mainstream capitalist
culture in the exchange for money, status, or power. Punk rocks common thinking wasn t only anti
authoritarism, and not selling out but also non conformity, direct action, and a DIY ethic. The DIY
attitude was pointed towards stepping forward and speaking without any restraint. To fight with
warrior qualities to achieve what you were striving for. The kind of thinking and motives for punk
rocksubjects was to not settle for what society made acceptable and standard but to think and work
outside of the box that was holding them in. Punk rock ideologies were expressed though music and
lyrics, punk literature, fashion and visual art. In the beginning punk fashionevolved everyday

Thousand times no! But we refuse to be tried on a trumped up charge, or to be convicted by
perjured testimony, merely because we are Anarchists and hated by the class whom we have openly
fought for many years. (Goldman 5). Goldman lets the jurynow that she is not guilty and that she
will not accept being guilty for something she didn t do. Emma will not back down, and will
continue to be an anarchist. Equally important, she says So we, too, too know amrica, love her

For example goldman frequently uses Gentlemen of the jury (Goldman 1). Emma uses this
phrase throughout the speech to be respectful and put the men of the jury on a higher level. She
uses this phrase constantly which makes the audience hear her talk about her case because she
shows respect. Uniquely, she uses the paradox I can no more do it, nor have I the to, than the
physician who were to condemn the patient for his disease. (Goldman 4). Emma says this
because she compares the jury of the physician and the patient herself and hw giving her
medicine, which in her case jail time without knowing what she did. She argues this because she
shifts the blame to the current political structure of the nation which reveals that it is flawed.
With this in mind, she asks the jury when we have no democracy here? Shall free speech and
free assemblage, shall criticism and opinion which even the espionage bill did not include be
destroyed? Shall it be a shadow of the past, the great historic American past? Or shall free speech
and free press and free assemblage continue to eb heritage of the american people? (Goldman 9).
When this is asked it leaves us with her beliefs that America s democracy might be broken and it
needs radical repairs. Emma puts America s democracy in trial in her place and picks out all the
flaws in it, which

Kaleidoscope Eyes Analysis
Internal Comments:
No. While the idea that we choose to see the world either optimistically and pessimistically is
beautifully expressed throughout the poem, it comes across as trite in parts. The main idea of the
poem is not completely developed instead, the author spends too much time on unnecessary side
characters. In addition, there are several errors in terms of grammar as well as imprecise word
choice.
To the First Reader:
Dear Denee Freeman, thank you for your commentary on submission 10405 ( Kaleidoscope Eyes ).
All of your comments are formatted correctly, and I particularly appreciate your depth on your
specific comments. In terms of things to work on, I would recommend being more gentle in your
wording. A question posed with language... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author does this by presenting a variety of snapshots of people with this grey world view,
lingering on the last snapshot of the family, to expand on the kaleidoscope view of the children.
You re obviously aware of how language impacts mood, and do a nice job choosing their words.
I wished this poem had more showing, instead of telling, such as with the failed marriage and the
will to continue living. I think more specificity in your images, would eliminate both some of the
moments where the poem borders on cliche as well as the moments that distance the reader from
the snapshots. Personal details with make the poem stronger, and feel like the reader is in your
snapshot scenes.
The second note for revision I have for this poem is to think about the form. Right now the form isn
t particularly helping you, and in some places with the uneven spacing and unnecessary stanza
breaks, it actively hurts your poem. I would consider fewer stanzas personally. I wonder even about
having a very regimented line, stanza, or even a syllabic pattern, except for those lines speaking
about kaleidoscope eyes. Thank you so much for submitting to Polyphony H.S.; continue

The American Dream For A Black Man And A White Man
The racism against African Americans began in the 17th century, when the African slaves were
forcibly brought over by the British colonist to America. Even after slavery was outlawed, racism
and segregation was still present between the African American and White race. Many African
American activist fought and died for our equality such as Fredrick Douglas, Dr. Martin Luther
King, Malcom X, Rosa Parks, and Emmitt Teel. It is sad to say that even with all of the lives lost
during boycotts, and hate raids, racismstill does exist.
Elevated white power does exist. I do not say that to be in any way racial or prejudice. Although,
it is a known fact that the power of being white does exist even in modern day society. The
economic competition between a black man and a white man is unequal. The economic wages
given to a black man and a white man are unequal. The American dream for a black man and a
white man are in most ways different. That still does not change the fact that I would have to
break my back to get through school in order to receive a piece of paper saying I m capable,
when a white man education is paved for him. It is despicable to say that I have been taught to
accept that I have to work harder for what I want, when some people are just given what they desire
to have.
It is a shame that the African Americanrace is stereotyped into this category of violence and
ignorance. Yes, there is a large quantity of African American people who are indeed violent and

Why So Vampirism Isnt About Vampires
So vampirism isn t about vampires? Vampire and ghost stories aren t all that you may think they
are, but maybe they have a deeper meaning, a sexual meaning. Throughout this Chapter, Nice to

me question other stories or novels I ve read in the past, and want to analysis more text I read.
After reading this chapter, about how stories about vampires could mean something totally
different, like sexual relations, I m open to think about how maybe even children s stories, or any
story or novel in fact, could have a totally divergent message than they display. A nasty old man,
attractive but evil, violates young women, leaves his mark on them, steals

Three Things I Learned From Cameron Russell s TED Talk
Looks aren t Everything. Believe Me, I am a Model
1.Three things I learned from Cameron Russell s TED Talk is that looks are deceiving, people
still judge based on someone s skin color or beauty, and how even if someone looks like the most
confident, pretty, rich, or happy person out there, that may not always the case. Additionally,
from the speaker s five main points, the first main point, how do you become a model?
illustrates being named a model is something very difficult to become because today s society is
very judgmental. However, from Cameron s second main point, can I be a model when I grow
up? explains that becoming a model is like winning the lottery, very rare and hard to get. From
the presenter s third main point, do they retouch all the photos? explains that what everyone sees
on TV, magazines, or social media are not real and that they are all retouched. The fourth main
point that Russell goes over, do you get free stuff? talks about how being or looking a specific
way has its advantages that others would not get away with. The fifth and last main point, she
goes over is what is it like to be a model? She explains that being a model is not all fun and games

presentation not only entertaining, but also educating. Additionally, he did an excellent job in eye
contact and moving around. He moved around the stage frequently and used a lot of gestures
while talking. Tim was also very confident, relaxed, and funny. Urban s style of delivery was
transparent and conversational. He looked like he knew what he was doing and talking about. Last
but not least, he made a lot of connections with the audience by telling a story of how he
procrastinated. Which this action caused him to accomplish assignments in a poor manner. To
conclude, all in all, Tim Urban s TED Talk was not only fun and educative but also audience

Examples Of TKI Conflict Mode Questionnaire N20: 2016Your Name: Mireille Villa Name of Questionnaire or Scale: Thomas Kilmann TKI Conflict Mode Questionnaire Findings / scores: Accommodating Analysis of findings: I dislike conflict and would do whatever possible to avoid it. Thus, when I took the conflict managing questionnaire and received the title of accommodating, I knew that there was no mistake. In a dispute, I would allow the other person to get what they want and not project or accomplish my own. I do not want to upset anyone in any way; I only want to be kind to and support the person. At the same time, I feel that giving and satisfying someone else s needs would be more rewarding than if I were to satisfy my own. Therefore, I would start small and begin by practicing nonverbal assertive behaviors such as making eye contact, maintaining an open rather than closed posture, keeping my composure, and not backing off from the other person in any conversation. Then, once I am comfortable with this step and encounter conflict, I can take my time to reflect on the problem, and create a plan of action. Part of this plan would consist of creating an outline of what I would say. To make this task easier, Lachman s formulas of model behavior, such as When you do X, I feel Y because Z, and what I d like instead is [request behavior change] , would come in handy. The task of assertively responding would become less strenuous, because I would have these formulas or examples of what an assertive person would say and what I can follow. Lord Voldemort is portrayed by the amazing British actor, Ralph Fiennes. One of the reasons why he is such an unforgettable villain is the fact that he is pure evil and a real psychopath. He is not capable of feeling any positive emotion since he never felt any affection. He is extremely sadistic, because he just loves to torture anyone, he finds pleasure when somebody dies or gets hurt. He was conceived with a use of a love potion and grew up in an orphanage before getting into Hogwarts. He longs for power to be able to rule both the wizarding world and the muggle world with all of his loyal followers. No one matters to him besides himself, he is considered to be the most self centered villain. Based on my review of the information that I have been given, the following are my recommendations for new internal controls: 1. Establishment of Responsibility 2. Segregation of Duties 3. Human Resources Control 4. Independent Internal Verification 5. The Independent Internal Verification control is also being violated because the data that eh accountant has been providing has not been verified by any other personnel in your company. It is simply being recorded and reported by him only. The company s petty cash is being handled by all employees and they are only being asked to leave a note in the drawer when it is being used. Why are all employees being allowed to have access to the petty cash fund? How do you know that it is being used to benefit the company, not the employee? Why is the cash not locked away instead of being placed in a desk drawer? This violates the Human Resources Control as well as the Physical Control. Employees who handle cash should be bonded and all cash should be locked away. Receipts or other means of record keeping should be provided when petty cash is used, not notes left in the drawer. The company does not have individual passwords assigned to employees for computer use. This also is a violation of Physical Controls. Thorough background checks are not being done on employees before they are hired. This violates the Human Resources Control. If this had been done, the employee that had been convicted of child molestation would have never been hired. The accountant should not be interviewing and approving new hires. This goes against the Establishment of Responsibility control. The accountant has too many roles within the company that should be assigned to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Typologically speaking, hukou is an official identification system that records a resident s presence including his or her name, birth, economic power and rank, employment status, and other relevant information. According to the Organisation for Economic Co operation and Development in 2016 in the United States, the annual hours actually worked per worker on their main job is 1,783 hours (OECD, 2017). The atmosphere of a workplace contributes to the mental and emotional wellness of its employees and the productivity of an organization, as a whole; therefore, it is important to establish consistent house rules or guidelines to communicate to both management and employees how to conduct themselves for the goodwill of the company and its people. Every person at an organization brings a diverse set of individual needs and motivations apart from the company s primary agenda. Despite their commitment to perform their specific work responsibilities while in the workplace, each person obligates himself or herself to non work urgencies that can produce interruptions within the boundaries of their required duty to an organization (Casper DePaulo, 2012). Such non work urgencies may involve a spouse or a child for a partnered employee; therefore, many organizations establish family friendly policies in consideration of a partnered employee s life outside of the workplace or the exceeding obligations of a person with parental responsibilities (Casper DePaulo, 2012, p. 232). The Challenger shuttle flight, OV 099 mission STS 51 L, broke apart 73 seconds into its flight, leading to the deaths of all crew members which included five astronauts and two payload specialists. The Challenger disaster was especially traumatic because young students watched television that were placed in their classrooms so they could watch the launch that day. It was fascinating that a school teacher was on board as a payload specialist (NASA, 1986.) With a school teacher aboard the flight, it had sparked many interests because at several at young age, understood that education was vital as to why there was such a failure and prevent future disasters. The Columbia mission, STS 107, was interesting because the public was more aware of the risk that was being taken upon re entry. During the launch a piece of insulating foam broke away from the external tank surface, striking the left wing. In previous missions there had been evidence of this occurring which to engineers was seen as minor. Responsibility For Carbon Emission Reduction Chengning Li English 131 L May 14th, 2014 Responsibility for Carbon Emission Reduction Nowadays, climate change has become an increasingly crucial problem for the whole world. To figure out this problem, the United Nations holds an annual climate summit which discusses how to respond to global climate change, and promote world wide actions to promote the progress of Copenhagen and Kyoto Protocol. In the Copenhagen conference, 2009, a framework for climate change migration beyond 2012 was to be agreed. As we all known, there was a series of intense conversations between developed countries and developing countries about the carbon dioxide emission cup for each country. On one hand, BASIC countries, the representative of developing countries, held that they were developing and needed large amount of carbon dioxide emission in industrial development. On the other hand, the American and European Union, the representative of developed countries, argued that developing countries cannot take the risk of pollution in order to develop its own science and economy; therefore they should take a large part of responsibility of global climate change. The purposed changed of absolute emission for America is 4% but for China or Indian is 20% even 40% reduction for 2005 2020. From my perspective, this is too hard and tough for developing countries to complete. And developed countries should do better than 4% or 5%. The aetiology for RA is unclear, however, a combination of hereditary susceptibility causes a reaction that causes severe inflammation in the synovial membrane (1). However, other factors such as the immunological, hormonal and environmental factors plays a role in development of RA (2). The pathology of RA is characterised by an insidious order of biological events that will eventually lead to articular cartilage destruction and secondary changes in surrounding tissues (1). The pathological changes to joints consequently lead to structural deformity and functional disability. The clinical presentation of RA patients are often intermittent joint pain, worse on movement; stiffness; and, limited range of motion (ROM) and joint instability, either due to loss of articular cartilage, or effusions into the joint cavity (1 3). ... • 21. Functions Of A Steady State Exercise Essay Assign 3794 3.Steady state exercise is the activity where we perform while maintaining the same heart and muscle movements. Steady state exercise affects many body functions. If the steady state exercise performed for months consistently, it will increase the overall endurance of an individual. The below are the certain physiological functions affected during steady state: Cardiac output: The aerobic exercise performed at steady rate causes the body to increase the amount of blood pumped by the heart. Cardiac output is determined by stroke volume and heart rate. The Stroke volume is defined as the quantity of blood pumped at each heart beat, while the body going from rest to steady state exercise. Cardiac output increases rapidly even more gradually until it reaches a plateau. By that time we develop an increased number of capillaries, greater opening of existing capillaries, more effective blood redistribution and increased blood volume. Due to this, capillaries improve the body ability to deliver oxygen and nutrients to muscle and also to remove the waste products. Cardiac output is generally calculated by: Cardiac output = Heart rate * Stroke volume Blood pressure: The blood pressure of an individual is affected before and after reaching the steady state. .There is increase in the systolic and diastolic blood pressure during steady state. These increases in the pressure represent the pressure in arteries. This pressure is while the heart is contracting and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Walt Whitman s fame is not just about his passion for democracy. Van Wyck Brooks stated that the real reason that Whitman is so relevant is that for the first time [he] gave us the sense of something organic in American life (112) and precipitated the American character (118). However, democracy is about social equality, fairness, and choice. A democratic body is one that works together to achieve things that are beneficial to all. To Walt, the goal that was worth working for was the preservation of those who are ill or injured, especially due to the war. George Kateb wrote about Whitman and the purpose of democracy. Whitman tries to draw out the fuller moral and existential significance of rights. There are rights that individuals have as persons, and that the political system of democracy exists in order to protect, and also to embody in its workings (546). We appreciate Walt Whitman for explaining the riches of life while reaping the benefits of democracy. As Kateb stated, individuals have their own identity within the overall body but they also work towards preserving and benefiting the overall body as well. The splintering of the self into multiple versions illustrates a desire to see what one can be online. Sherry Turkle and Natasha SchГјll see the growth of new mediaand technology as detrimental to the formation of our true selves and both critically analyze specific cases where it can be harmful. According to Albert Camus, a French existentialist writer and philosopher, a one s urge to find the ultimate answer for the question is rather absurd. He believed that people search for the meaning of anything is vain because a source of meaning as such is non existent. In addition to that, Camus literary works are often associated to the idea of absurdismand that is the thing he and Douglas Adams have in common. Therefore, the main focus of my essay is absurdity, as it is the main theme in the work of Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy. But why has Adams chosen it to be one of The Hitchhiker s leading topics? Of course, one can argue that there cannot be a proper sci fi novel without a certain level of absurdity included. As these giant brewers monopolized Africa s beer market, it can be said that the market has an oligopoly market structure, and both pursue identic operations, so the market can be labeled as competitive. The interdependence that is happening between both brewers makes the competition happens. As SABMiller produces Impala that is half price from its previous beer Manica, Diageo produces Senator Keg to balance it. Diageo ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Pre Colonial Maori Society Pre colonial Maori society was based on kinship groups; hapЕ«, iwi and whanau. These groups are connected to common ancestors and the land and these ties are still integral to maori communities today. (Byers, 2002) As colonization took place, the Treaty of Waitangi; New Zealand s founding document sought to guarantee the protection of Maori culture and customs but this didn t result in recognition for the value based system of social control which Maori had in place. (Vieille, 2010) Within the zeitgeist of post war society where rates of urbanisation soared, Maori people comprised 80% of the rural population and over the next forty years, the Maori rural population decreased as many became a part of the urban population. (Durie, 2007) This demographic revolution occurred due to the government s acquisition of land, resulting in great changes with many Maori being disconnected from their traditional ways of life. (Durie, 2007) As these shifts continued, support networks of the whanau or extended families which were once source of strength of maori communities slowly disappeared and maori were become more often at the receiving end of hostile behaviour. (Durie, 2007) Mana in this new urban society was measured differently and it was regarded more in terms of material possessions in comparison with the society they were used to which recognized mana as a sacred spiritual element within individual dignity. • 42. High School Schedule Essay Many secondary schools are beginning to question the impact that a school schedule has on student learning. Some schools are trying innovative schedules designed to provide choice and variety for high school students. Recently, San Luis Obispo High School was asked by our Superintendent to reconsider our current trimester schedule (see Appendices, Figure D) and review other alternative schedules that would benefit the increasingly diverse students of San Luis Obispo. Students, parents, and many teachers have been upset by this request and fail to see the validity of changing the schedule. Teachers were told that the trimester schedule is inequitable as the three trimesters equate to two semesters, thus students at SLOHS are receiving an unfair advantage over students at our sister school, Morro Bay High School. Additionally, the claim was made that those students who are socio economically... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The issues that MBHS has faced with the rotating block have to do with the length of classes and the problem of not seeing all students every day. Teachers at MBHS claim that students have a difficult time staying focused in classes that last 110 minutes per day. Additionally, teachers do not see all students every day, and sometimes even for multiple days when students are involved in athletics. As MBHS went through the process of reviewing their daily schedule they focused on reducing minutes based on periods taught and consistently seeing students every single day, or at least four out of the five days of the week. MBHS staff devised a hybrid block semester schedule (see Appendices, Figure G) which will go up against their traditional rotating block on the ballot. Similiar to SLOHS, our Superintendent and Board of Eduaction will make the final decision after the votes are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Punk rock isn t just a style or a scene but a way of life. It all started in the late 1970s, originating from the working class angst and frustrations many youth were feeling about the economic inequality. One of punks main oppositions was rejection of mainstream, corporate mass culture and its values. It continued to evolve its ideology of anti racist and anti sexist belief systems as the movement spread from its origins in England and New York to Northern America. The attitude common in the subculture is the resistance to selling out, which means abandoning one s values and changing in musical style toward pop to embrace anything that s mainstream capitalist culture in the exchange for money, status, or power. Additionally, she goes off to pay a Thousand times no! But we refuse to be tried on a trumped up charge, or to be convicted by perjured testimony, merely because we are Anarchists and hated by the class whom we have openly fought for many years. (Goldman 5). Goldman lets the jurynow that she is not guilty and that she will not accept being guilty for something she didn t do. Emma will not back down, and will continue to be an anarchist. Emma uses this phrase throughout the speech to be respectful and put the men of the jury on a higher level. She uses this phrase constantly which makes the audience hear her talk about her case because she shows respect. Uniquely, she uses the paradox I can no more do it, nor have I the to, than the physician who were to condemn the patient for his disease. (Goldman 4). Emma says this because she compares the jury of the physician and the patient herself and hw giving her medicine, which in her case jail time without knowing what she did. She argues this because she shifts the blame to the current political structure of the nation which reveals that it is flawed. With this in mind, she asks the jury when we have no democracy here? Shall free speech and free assemblage, shall criticism and opinion which even the espionage bill did not include be destroyed? Shall it be a shadow of the past, the great historic American past? Or shall free speech and free press and free assemblage continue to eb heritage of the american people? (Goldman 9). Kaleidoscope Eyes Analysis Internal Comments: No. While the idea that we choose to see the world either optimistically and pessimistically is beautifully expressed throughout the poem, it comes across as trite in parts. The main idea of the poem is not completely developed instead, the author spends too much time on unnecessary side characters. In addition, there are several errors in terms of grammar as well as imprecise word choice. To the First Reader: Dear Denee Freeman, thank you for your commentary on submission 10405 ( Kaleidoscope Eyes ). The author does this by presenting a variety of snapshots of people with this grey world view, lingering on the last snapshot of the family, to expand on the kaleidoscope view of the children. You re obviously aware of how language impacts mood, and do a nice job choosing their words. I wished this poem had more showing, instead of telling, such as with the failed marriage and the will to continue living. I think more specificity in your images, would eliminate both some of the moments where the poem borders on cliche as well as the moments that distance the reader from the snapshots. Personal details with make the poem stronger, and feel like the reader is in your snapshot scenes. The second note for revision I have for this poem is to think about the form. Right now the form isn t particularly helping you, and in some places with the uneven spacing and unnecessary stanza breaks, it actively hurts your poem. I would consider fewer stanzas personally. I wonder even about having a very regimented line, stanza, or even a syllabic pattern, except for those lines speaking about kaleidoscope eyes. • 48. The American Dream For A Black Man And A White Man The racism against African Americans began in the 17th century, when the African slaves were forcibly brought over by the British colonist to America. Even after slavery was outlawed, racism and segregation was still present between the African American and White race. Many African American activist fought and died for our equality such as Fredrick Douglas, Dr. Martin Luther King, Malcom X, Rosa Parks, and Emmitt Teel. It is sad to say that even with all of the lives lost during boycotts, and hate raids, racismstill does exist. Elevated white power does exist. I do not say that to be in any way racial or prejudice. Although, it is a known fact that the power of being white does exist even in modern day society. The economic competition between a black man and a white man is unequal. The economic wages given to a black man and a white man are unequal. The American dream for a black man and a white man are in most ways different. That still does not change the fact that I would have to break my back to get through school in order to receive a piece of paper saying I m capable, when a white man education is paved for him. It is despicable to say that I have been taught to accept that I have to work harder for what I want, when some people are just given what they desire to have. It is a shame that the African Americanrace is stereotyped into this category of violence and ignorance. Yes, there is a large quantity of African American people who are indeed violent and ...
