1984 Technology Compared To Today
Technology is a wonderful thing, but with grate power comes grater responsibility. The
technology that we cant live with out, could be used against us just like in the book 1984. Every
day people use some kind of social network, email, cell phones, computers. all most every thing
is on camera. 1984 is similar to modern day society in many ways such control, fear, and rebellion.
every day are reality is becoming more and more like George Orwell s 1984, Telescreens, Big
brother (all seeing eye), New Speak ,tracing are money and even the changing are history/ are
being used today. The Telescreens in 1984 are looking in to EVERY living room like a security
camera. They cant be shut off. Telescreens are to prevent anyone in his realm from

Social Learning Theory and Its Application to Aggression...
Social learning theory proposes that social learning occurs when the individual views a modeled
behavior that they value, observes an act if the model has a role model or admired status, and
when a person imitates a learned behavior (Bandura, Ribes Inesta, 1976). The basic foundations of
the theory are applied to education policies, understanding psychological disorders, training courses,
behavioral modeling, in the media and has a plethora of further applications in today s society.
Another application of the theory is for criminals, violenceand aggression. Whether referring to
violence in the media, domestic violence, community violence, bullying and others, aggression and
violent behaviors can by dissected and expounded using social... Show more content on

This experiment was very controversial as Bandura sought to prove that aggression was learned
through imitation of others. Children between the ages of three and six were brought in to a
room with an adult in one corner and the child in the other. The child s side contained fun
activities while the adult s side contained a toy set, a mallet and a Bobo doll. The child was told
that the toys in the adult corner were only for the adults. In three different groups, children were
either subjected to an aggressive adult that would punch and kick the Bobo doll, a non aggressive
adult that would play with the small toys and ignored the Bobo doll and another group where no
adult was present. After the ten minute session the child was brought into another room with many
toys and after only two minutes, the child is told that they are no longer allowed to play with
those toys. The frustrated children were then brought back into the first room, where the
experiment sought to measure the physical and verbal aggression, the amount of times the mallet
was used as other forms of aggression and other forms of aggression that did not show imitation of
the original adult. The experiment found that children exposed to the aggressive adult were more
likely to act more aggressively than the others. The study also found that boys were much more
likely to be aggressive and that imitation increased when the model was of the same sex (Bandura,
Ross, Ross, 1961).

2 Process Theories of Motivation
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Motivation theories are primarily divided into two major types which
are the content theories and the process theories. This report aims to critically evaluate two process
theories of motivation which is the Expectancy Theory by Victor Vroom and the Equity Theory by
John Stacy Adams. The methodologies used in this report include a study and analysis of
textbooks, writings and journals from the internet. As a conclusion, the question is not whether
each of these approaches to motivationworks, but where and when they work best. TABLE OF

Conversely, if he or she sees low productivity as path to the achievement of his or her goals, he or
she will tend to be a low producer . Lyman W. Porter and Edward E. Lawler developed a more
complete version of motivation depending upon expectancy theory. {draw:frame} Actual
performance in a job is primarily determined by the effort spent. But it is also affected by the
person s ability to do the job and also by individual s perception of what the required task is. So
performance is the responsible factor that leads to intrinsic as well as extrinsic rewards. These
rewards, along with the equity of individual leadto satisfaction. The conclusions that can be drawn
from this theory are: Individuals will only act when they have a reasonable expectation that their
behaviour will lead to the desired outcome. Effort alone is not sufficient. It has to be accompanied
by ability and skill. Job satisfaction results from effective job performance rather than the other way
round. Job design is therefore of crucial importance as it affects the workers motivation directly.
{text:list item} Personal Traits One variable that organisations are not able to affect directly is that
which is intrinsic to the individual: the person s locus of control and, obviously, any other
personality traits. Interestingly, personality traits, it can be argued,

Travelling As A Common Hobby
How Travel has Evolved from Necessity to Pleasure People travel to various destinations for
different reasons, but the ultimate goal of most travelers, is to explore the sites of interests that
they may not have seen before. Although almost everyone travels on a daily basis to go to their
offices, businesses, work, or school, the trends indicate that travelling for pleasure has become a
common hobby (Pooley). Travelling has evolved in many aspects, including the reasons for
travelling and efficiency with which people can travel from one location to another. In this
paper, the meaning of travelling to different people, changes in travelling for America ns over
the years, and the way travelling for leisure came about will be discussed. Travelling means
different things to different people. For example, there is a group of travelers that is comprised
of people who lead a nomadic lifestyle. These people enjoy diversity and they are likely to
consider travelling as a way of life (Dunn). Another category of travelers is a group of people
who work away from their relatives. This group of people often travels upcountry, not just to meet
their relatives, but also to e1tjoy the rural environment. In addition, the working class is likely to
take vacations and travel to new places. They consider travelling as an opportunity to take a break
from work, and enjoy an environment that is different from their routine and work settings.
Moreover, there are some people who work in

The Good Roads Bill By President Woodrow Wilson
The Good Roads Bill was signed in 1916 by President Woodrow Wilson, but this law took
decades of work by cycling activists to go from an idea to the oval office. The first mention of
the poor road quality in America came on December 30, 1894 After this mention, the Good
Roads Movement starts to spread. On May 26, 1895, the movement begins to spread to New York
via political and democratic power. In mid 1985, in a time where good roads was growing
momentum noted by the Gossip of the Cyclers column, apropos of good roads, the association of
that name has since justly acquired a greater importance than it previously enjoyed. The Good
Roads movement was spreading throughout the nation. People in Manhattan were beginning to

During this time, a New Jersey and Pennsylvania boarder town became a Good Roads Success
story. After putting $40,000 of roads in the city, a New Jersey town saw an increase in change
and real estate prices. There was significantly more crops being moved in and out of the city due
to the improved road quality. This success story became an example that the Good Roads
Movement brought up continually when fighting for legislation, and it happened as early as
1896 (6). The Good Roads movement eventually had to get politically involved to lobby for
money for roads. The cyclists started to partner with the farmers to influence regulation around
the state of New York. An employee of the Agricultural Department of the Government said, the
bicycle did more toward the cause of good roads than all the agitators since the time of Adam.
This employee was saying that cyclists were the biggest activists for good roads since
MacAdams engineered the MacAdams roads. The employee continues to say the the government
is looking to continue improving roads. Based on the two quotes here, it is clear that cyclists in
the Good Roads Movement helped persuade the government to create better roads (8). By
October, new roads, bridges, and education policies were being put into place. Cyclists worked
consistently to put in a bridge across an obstructive river in

In landmark cases, an opinion can set precedence for future cases, due to its broadness and
boldness. A narrowly tailored opinion has no impact in setting precedence and would only be used
for the case at hand. A majority opinion is an opinion that is supported by the majority of the
justices and it is typically written by the chief justice if he/she is in the majority. If not, the senior
associate justice in the majority writes it. A concurring opinion is an opinion that supports the
majority decision but it also stresses a different viewpoint for the majority decision. Finally, a

Current And Long Term Liabilities
The main focus of a business is to make profits, but understanding how to manage both current
and long term liabilities will insure an organizations success. A liability is a debt incurred by a
business that must be repaid. There are current liabilities, which need to be repaid within one year
and there are long term liabilities that are repaid over a period of time longer than a year. A
business needs moneyto operate, and by incurring liabilities it gives a business the extra money or
assets that are needed to extend the operational period. During an operational period, a business
must be able to pay its current liabilities and make payments on long term liabilities with its
revenues. I will discuss both current and long term... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If a business borrowed $10,000 at 5% on a 6 month short term loan, the accountant would debit
cash for $10,000 and credit notes payable for $10,000. To pay back the amount of the loan and
interest at maturity, an accountant would debit notes payable for $10,000, debit interest expense
for $250, and credit cash for $10,250. Businesses will sometimes receive money before they
provide goods or services, which would create an account called unearned revenue. If a business
were to receive $500 for a promised service that has not been provided yet, the accountant would
debit cash for $500 and credit unearned service revenue for $500. As soon as the service is
provided, the accountant can debit unearned service revenue for $500 and credit service revenue
for $500. When businesses sell goods to consumers they have to collect sales tax for everything
that is sold. A business incurs a liability when goods are sold until they pay the taxes to the state.
If a business receives cash sales of $20,000 and collects an additional 5% for sales tax, an
accountant would debit cash for $21,000, credit sales revenue for $20,000, and credit sales tax
payable for $1,000. The accountant would debit sales tax payable for $1,000 and credit cash for

which is referred to as accrued expenses. A business

Descriptive Essay On The House
The back door of the moving truck slammed shut, making me slightly jump gasping in surprise. I
turned in my seat and look at the house, I ve lived my whole life in. Gloomily I stare
remembering all the happy and sad times I ve had here. come on Kate stop thinking such sad
thoughts the new house is going to be great, I said clapping my hands over my face. The cab
driver turned the ignition key, and the cab rumbled to life. We start rolling forward down the
street behind the moving truck. Watching the houses move past me slowly lulling me to sleep.
I close my eyes slipping into the comfort of sleep. HEY wake up we re almost there the cab
driver halfway yelled in his gruff voice. I pop up looking curiously around me. My face crumples
up in concern. I look out the window and I see no houses. Then, suddenly I see in the distance
two houses, one on either side of the street. We pull up to the houses and the cab pulled into the
driveway of one of the house. The moving truck stops on the side of the road I get out of the
cab. I stared unbelievably at the house that we stopped at. I walk inside and look around. The
house is already furnished. The furniture is clean and looks like it hasn t ever been used. By the
time I get outside to help get boxes from the moving truck. The taxi, truck, and all the people are
gone, leaving the few boxes of my stuff in the driveway. I carry the small boxes into my bedroom.
Starting to organize my stuff I hear what I believe to be the doorbell.

Athletic Training History
I have always loved sports ever since I was a little kid. Some of my earliest memories are of
playing soccer with my friends on a wet, cold spring day or hitting a ball off of a tee and feeling
like it went a mile, when in reality it only went about fifty feet. Even to this day I still can never
get enough of sports. I get about four weeks off out of the entire year where I m not technically in
a sport, but I m still always practicing and trying to get better because that s the only way I know. I
love everything about sports: the friendships, the competition, the passion, the atmosphere, the
unity. Sports are one of my true loves and they consume my life. It is this strong desire that I have
for sports that has driven me to want to pursue a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was how it was for a general athletic trainer in the beginning but over time the field gained
more and more credibility and in the 1930 s a group of athletic trainers came together to try and
form an organization (Evolution of Athletic). This organization was designed to share different
practices from different areas of the world and nation. Though shortly after the beginning of World
War II the organization fell apart with the enlistment of many men into the army to serve
(Evolution of Athletic). After the war had ended, athletic trainers began to return to work and
succeeded in creating the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) in 1950 (NATA.org). The
NATA was created by a group of two hundred ambitious athletic trainers that met in Kansas City,
Missouri to talk about the need for professional standards and appropriate recognition (NATA.org).
This set of standards presented by the NATA provided athletic trainers across the country with
professionalism, education, research, practice settings and certifications for them to operate by

certification exams (Evolution of Athletic). By 1982, the NATA had reached an agreement with
colleges on a curriculum for college students to earn a bachelor s and master s degree in athletic
training (Jenkins). The Board of Certification was established to provide a certification program
for entry level athletic trainers to reassure that all certified athletic trainers were educated and
professional before they began their career (Evolution of Athletic). In 1990, athletic training was

El Rio De La Huma Research Paper
El Rio de la Plata (Spanish for Silver River ) it is an estuary located southeast of South America in
between the countries of Argentina and Uruguay, draining its waters into the vast Atlantic Ocean. It
is formed by the mixture between the ParanГЎ River and the Uruguay River which extend the
estuary for a 274 km of longitude, with 48 km wide at the head of the estuary and 220 km wide
at the mouth, making it the widest estuary in the world. The waters of the estuary flow from the
northwest to southeast of South America, traveling through the countries of Argentina, Bolivia,
Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay. The location of El Rio de la Plata allows the existence of two
major ports located in the cities of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Montevideo, Uruguay. The
estuary is mostly used for its commercial and sport fishing, access to other important ports,
recreation, and tourism. Also along the northern coastline is an important habitat for a variety
marine life such as marine mammals, fishes, aquatic birds, etc. El Rio de la Plata is characterized
as a coastal plain estuary with a south coastline of 393 km, and a north coastline of 416 km long,

sand which interrupts with navigation of large boats. This leads to the formation of different natural
and artificial sediment channels which are utilized as access routes for large boats to travel from

Comparison Of Percy Jackson The Lightning Thief Movie Vs Book
Some people say movies are the way to the heart, but have you ever read a book? Books are way
more descriptive than movies because they add so many more important details. Movies are not
as descriptive because they try squishing an eleven hour reading into a two hour screening.
Finally, movies always leave out important scenes and characters. On the other hand movies are
pretty cool because they do have some pretty creative images that you would have never imagined
before. The book version of Percy Jackson The Lightning Thief is better than the movie version
because the book includes characters like Ares, Cerberus, and the Three Kindly Ones. The first
important character to the story is Ares for many reasons. First reason is he stole Hades s... Show

Cerberus is a super nice dog that is super cute. He is also the creature who guards the entrance to
the underworld. Finally, Cerberus loves Annabeth, is her friend, and obeys her commands.
Even though he is a cool character, he is not the most important to the storyline. He still adds
detail to the storyline though, because he guards the underworld so people who aren t supposed
to be in the underworld get in. As you can see, Cerberus is an important character to the story.
Finally the Three Kindly Ones are important to the story for a variety of reasons. First, one of
them is Mrs. Dodds his old Pre Algebra teacher. Second, they won t stop trying to kill Percy
Jackson. Finally, after they get killed they come back to life. They aren t as important as other
characters because they didn t even hurt Percy once. That shows they are in the story but not
necessarily important to the storyline, but they are still fun to read about. Ms. Dodds is the only
one that is very important to the storyline, that s why she is in the movie too. However, they do
work for Hades and he wants them to get the helm for him. Even though they didn t hurt Percy they
still scared him and attacked many times, which makes the book more interesting. That s why the
Three Kindly Ones make the book more

education. Both of her parents were teachers gained a lot of her knowledge in physics and
chemistry from her father. Though Marie had a passion for learning, there weren t many options
for women in Poland. Her goal was to be able to study at Sorbonne in Paris, however, due to
financial issues she couldn t. By age 24 she had raised enough money to go to Paris, so she

She was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in Chemistry, in 1911, for her research on radiumand
polonium. Later biographers questioned whether Marie deserved the prize. They thought radium
and polonium were part of the reason for the 1903 Peace Prize. Marie stated that the award in
1903 was awarded for a future prize in chemistry and the award in 1903 was the beginning of the
discovery on Radium and Polonium. Chemists have said that the discovery of radium was the
greatest breakthrough since the discovery of oxygen.
The following year, 1911, proved to be a downturn for her life personally. While in Belgium at
the Solvay Conference, she received a message from the press about their curiosity about Paul
Langevin, a fellow physicist. He was suffering from marital problems and supposedly moved

adopted to extract the work from the employee in early days. No matter if he rows a boats or

Effective management of nursing influences nurses attraction and retention to the workplace.
Moreover, it enhances the job satisfaction and increase the potential of the staffs to excel in their

in the healthcare organisation who are able to create the organisation goals effectively, then

When the nurses are not being appreciated for their efforts in achieving the organisation goals, they
will feel disconnected from the organisation causing their performance to decline. Therefore, the
management should appreciate, by recognizing and rewarding the staffs for their good
performance, knowledge, skills and experience. Lack of professional recognition, especially for
those experienced registered nurses, would cause a decrease in their morale and directly increases

The Importance Of Refugees In Australia
Asylum seekers or refugees have fled their countries due to volatile circumstances such as war, or
fear of prosecution. Upon arrival in Australia they are moved to detention centres. Detention centres
hold people who have come without a visa, any non national and all unauthorised boat arrivals
(Australian Human Rights Commission, 2014). These centres hold refugees for indefinite periods
and in poor conditions. They are used as a spectacle to represent illegality and a threat to Australian
society (Marfleet, 2007, p672).
The spectacle of detention centres does not only lie within public perception but also within the
architecture of the facility (Grinceri, 2016, p170 171). The barbed wired fence of detention centres
is an example. It allows the spectators (citizens) to witness the enclosure of refugees while
simultaneously binding refugees within its constraints, punishingly (Pugilese, 2008, p206 207).
The visibility provided by the wired fence enables photography and videoing, thus acting as a
spectacle.
This spectacle is related to the ideals of torture. They are tortured and punished based on
exclusions and exception. The refugees held in detention centres form the exception. They are the
Other which no one wishes to become and are a danger to society. Those tortured are viewed as
deserving because they are seen as a threat. The power to make decisions about who can and cannot
enter Australia lies within the (Government) Sovereignty (Georgatos, 2017). The sovereign

Multicultural Education in the Classroom
The Benefits of Multicultural Education in the Classroom I have grown up with Education
being my catapult through life; I love it. I love to study children and figure out how they learn
and how our educational experiences shape us as adults. Five years ago, I found myself accepting
a position as a Toddler teacher in a government facility. To describe it simply, I was a fish out of
water. I had experience with children, but not with children so small. This experience taught me a
great deal about learningin our great world. I was amazed to witness the pure relationships between
children of all races in that little toddler room. All color aside, the children seemed to embrace each

The substantial task of desegregation did not come without its struggles. Parents were faced with
issues of involvement in their child s education due to distance between their child s school and
home. Some schools reported vandalism and student frustration in regards to the change of scenery.
In 2001, busing for Charlotte students ended, but not without leaving a legacy. Since the
termination of busing, student test scores continue to rise, even surpassing those of other urban
school districts such as Los Angeles, Chicago, and Houston (NPR, 2004).
Though mandatory busing ended, school districts continue to encourage the multicultural
movement by providing magnet programs for families who would like their child to attend another
school. The concept is the same as busing; however, participation is voluntary. Economically, the
gap is narrowing, balancing our communities. Forty percent of African Americans consider
themselves to be middle class, seventy five percent own their own homes, and two parent
households earn just thirteen percent less than Caucasian parents (Thernstrom, 1998). There are
improvements to be made as the economy continues to control and group together families within
the same income bracket. Many times, this binds families to certain schools with no other options
available. Statistics show that from 1993 to 2003, there was a similar outcome regarding the
schools middle class families attended. Out of a study of one

Childhood Obesity Is A Common Problem
Childhood obesity is a medical condition of being overweight or obese. This condition has
continued to grow and increase over the past five decades. In the US alone there are more than
three million cases per year. For one to be obese it means that the individual is significantly
overweight for their age and height. The way to tell if someone is obese or overweight is by a
BMI, which stands for body mass index. Being overweight is defined as having a BMI that is at
or above the 85th percentile to the 95th percentile for children and teens. Childhood obesity is a
common problem in America today and changes need to be done to save the future youth from
having these health problems. Childhood obesity has been around for a long time. It has... Show

Another reason being lifestyle that is taught to children by their parents. Some blame can be put
onto parents if they do not lead their children into an active healthy lifestyle. Many children tend
to either live a vigorously active lifestyle or sedentary lifestyle, which is greatly influenced by
their parents. A bad habit in diet can also induce the chances of childhood obesity. For example,
Beverages such as sugar sweetened beverages (SSBs) and whole fat milks are leading sources of
added sugars and solid fats, respectively, in the diets of US children and contribute nearly one
fifth of total caloric intake. (Ford and Popkin, 47 53) This explains how many sugary drinks are
incorporated into young children s diets and can be very unhealthy for them. Most children love
sugary drinks, but these drinks can have a negative impact on their diet causing them to gain
unwanted excess weight. One way to help this is by monitoring the amount of sugar a day they
consume. For example, One of the best strategies to reduce childhood obesity is to improve the
eating and exercise habits of your entire family. (Sandhya) This shows how small changes in
children s diets and lifestyle could result in many beneficial outcomes for children who suffer from
this. Childhood obesity has received many efforts of improvement, but hasn t had enough results.

Authority And Structure At A Young Age
Regardless of the viewpoints that we have toward law enforcement, this profession emulates the
values, principals, and structure that God wants for us in our lives. Without this profession, society
could not survive as needed for continued growth and prosperity. Law enforcement over the years
has retained a general purpose of protecting and serving the public. While preforming this general
purpose to the public, law enforcement reflects the values of God. Even though there can be
numerous relations between godly values and law enforcement, today I will reflect only on what I
believe are the three most directly connected (1) Authorityand Structure (2) Self Control (3)
Discipline.
Now let us take a look closer at these three specific ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regardless if we like the authority, God does not allow us to disobey. God never says that we must
like or agree with what the authority says, only be submissive to it. (www.christianity.about.com)
He even goes further than that and asks us to have confidence in our government and authority
figures. Just like a servant submits to his master, the better the servant works, better treatment the
servants gets because of the satisfaction of the master. Simply, God knows what is best for us, and
if we listen to his instruction and follow his rules, we will be rewarded. Submission to authority
takes an amount of self restraint and self control, we have to humble ourselves to others that have
been set above us.
Self Control is needed to live a fulfilled life as Christ wants to bless us fully. Law Enforcement
takes an extreme amount of self control at times when dealing with situations. Not all citizens
submit to authority, not all citizens show self restraint. During my time as a law enforcement
officer, I have dealt with a variety of criminals, victims and public. Over time situations arose
that forced me to show restraint. In May of 1992, officers lost self control, this loss of self
control led to violent and deadly riots in Los Angeles (www.abcnews.go.com). This event can be
evidence and proof of Proverbs 25:28 (NIV) like a city whose walls are broken through is a person
who lacks self control. Chaos always results in negative implications for society. Without

The Effects Of Smoking On Children s Health Before And...
Smoking While Pregnant Smoking while pregnant is a known teratogen. For those who don t
know, a teratogen is an agent or factor that causes malformation of an embryo. Smoking is very
bad for a baby s health before and after your baby is born. Many people don t understand the
importance of this, nor do they understand that not only does an unborn child get the smoke, but
all the chemicals in a cigarette as well. Cigarettes contain more than 4,000 chemicals, like nicotine,
cyanide, lead, carbon monoxide, and tar. Not to mention at least 60 cancer causing chemicals. 20
30% of low birth weight babies, 14% premature labors, and 10% of infant deaths are caused from
smokingduring pregnancyaccording to American Lung Association. Smoking increases the risk
of pregnancy complications at any and every stage of a pregnancy. Second hand and third hand
smoke is just as bad if not worse for an unborn child and yourself as first hand smoke is. Almost
everyone is exposed to cigarette smoke, whether it be first hand smoking a cigarette, or getting
second hand smoke from others smoking around you. Also third hand smoke, most people don t
think much of it, but third hand smoke is made up of gases and toxins that build up each time a
cigarette is smoked. Third hand smoke sticks to furniture, carpet, walls, clothes, skin, and many
other things. None of these kinds of smokes are good for a person let alone an unborn child. That
being said it makes it really hard to stay away from smoke

Benedict s Life After Ww2
During WWII, when Benedict was assigned to study the Japanese, they were not well understood.
Her job was to paint a portrait of the culture that would help the United States to understand how
their enemy acted and why they acted the way that they did. Not only that but to also better
understand how they would act to changes the United Statesplanned to make for their government.
The Japanese were not an easy culture to understand, which made the assignment even more
difficult with Benedict not being able to observe in person. Benedict said, The Japanese have
been described in the most fantastic series of but also s ever used for any nation of the world

What Are The Theories Of Second Language Acquisition
Following are the theories of second language acquisition:
Behaviorism theory: behaviorism theory introduced to the stimulus response theory which helped
in understanding the language as an organized structure and acquisition as a matter of habit
development. Behaviorism theory ignores internal mechanism which takes linguistic surroundings
and shaped stimulus into account. According to behaviorism theory learning is a scrutinize
behaviour which is involuntarily obtained by the means of stimulus and reaction in the form of
mechanical recurrence. Therefore this theory concludes that to obtain a language is to obtain
instinctive linguistic hands. Johnson explains that behaviorism spoiled the function of mental
procedure and observed learning as the capability to inductively realize outline of rule governed
behaviour from the illustration provided to the learner by his/ her surroundings.
Strength of behaviorism theory:
пѓ With the help of reinforcement, punishment and extinction it can be helpful in bringing out the
behaviour change.
пѓ It guarantees definite learning.
пѓ Application is easy to adapt.

Taking a Look at the Bangladesh Genocides
The Bangladesh Genocides is remembered as the most concentrated genocide of the 20th century,
however it is an astonishing act of overlooking. In an attempt to crush forces seeking independence
for East Pakistan, the West Pakistani military regime unleashed an efficient campaign of mass
murder which aimed at killing millions of Bengalis, and succeeded in doing so.
For the bloodbath in March December 1971 when the Pakistani army executed a largely unarmed
Bengali population in the then vital part of Pakistan s state known as East Pakistan , in an effort to
suppress the region s demand for independence was at the time the biggest story in the world s
media.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Before 1971, Bangladesh was divided into two regions; both with opposing political power.
Although East Pakistan (Bangladesh) withheld the larger population between the two provinces, it
acquired much less political dominance than West Pakistan. Through the power and representation
of leader Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, East Pakistan rebelled. Rahman, leader of political party The
Awami League demanded more powers both politically and economically. This struggle finally
cumulated into the war of independence for East Pakistan.
CAUSE OF THE GENOCIDE
In the 1971 national elections, The Awami League, led by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, had a major
success, winning 160 seats as well as majority of the national assembly. Rahman demanded
independence for East Pakistan, as well as the right to form a government.

Paley s Arguments On The Existence Of God
My argument and ideas are based on parts of Thomas Aquinas and William Paley s arguments on
the existence of God. As a Christian, at some point in time you wonder or start to question religion.
Does God exist? I feel as though this is a natural question people ask through their personal spiritual
journeys. The existenceof Godis provided by the premises of a first mover, a first causer, the
proof of possibility and necessity, and God being the designer of the universe, therefore God
exists. The natural world must have had a maker. Genesis 1:1 says, In the beginning God created
the heavens and the earth. I wonder if God made the universe, who made God? God is the
transcendent personal cause of the universe, exists independently, there is no beginning.
Therefore, nothing caused God. All humans have attempted to find the answers to the great
questions of life. Like where did I come from or what is wrong with me and the world? We all seek
answers, we all want wrongs to be set right, and we all yearn... Show more content on

Inanimate objects are soulless things like rocks, land, and sand. Animate things are people,
animals, and plants. There is something in us as animate things that cause or stop us to feel
wrong about something even if there are no consequences. This is similar to a human feeling
shameful or guilty of being fearful of death. Parents don t teach babies all right and wrongs there
is no law for them, they are born with the intelligence of judgment or sense of wrong and right
which isn t taught. Even if there were no laws in the world, there would be hesitation

Impact Of Disaster On The World
Impacts of Disaster It was just a normal day for me. I followed my daily routine. I woke up, had
breakfast and was ready to prepare for my finals. Just when I was planning tomorrow s schedule,
suddenly, I felt a jolt. My whole body trembled and before I could figure out what was going on,
books started to fall from my shelves and pictures hanging on the walls started falling. When I
looked out of my window, the surrounding area was filled with dirt and smoke. I saw people
running in the middle of the road to save themselves from that disaster. Immediately I ran outside
of my room. Just like myself, my parents and my brother were also running for their life. On the
way, my father lead us towards the back of our house, where there was some empty space to protect
ourselves from the disaster. I had just experienced a devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake. I have
never thoughtthat a high magnitude earthquake would ever come in this way. Literally, the whole
thing was shaking heavily. Even when we were observing from outside, the TV antenna on the top
of my house was still shaking. The high magnitude earthquake lasting for long time only lead to
one thing: enormous devastation of my city. All the things happening around me was like in the

peoples really shocked me. It was difficult for me to figure out what was going on around that field.

The Differences Of Children With ADHD And Learning...
Individuals with ADHD, LD and RD have more learning problems than in a child with either
ADHD, learning disabilities, or RD alone (Faraone, et al., 2001; Jensen, Martin, Cantwell, 1997;
Smith Adams, 2006). For example, students with ADHD and learning disabilities had demonstrated
poorer readingskills (Woodcock Johnson III), inferior social skills, and more behavior problems
when compared to their peers with learning disabilityalone, and those differences persisted over
time (Wei et al., 2014). Yu and Shaver (2014) found that comorbid ADHD and learning disability
children had lower letter word identification scores in identification tasks, teacher and parent reports

Pelletier and Astington (2004) found that children s age, language ability, non verbal intelligence
and theory of mind influenced their narrative development. As individuals become older their level
of narrative skills increases. Later language development is linked to improved discourse (Nippold,
1998). For example, connective terms (e.g. and) tend to be overused by seven to nine year olds
while adults use connective terms sparingly therefore increasing the technicality of their speech
(Berman, 1997).
Narrative gains and presentation, in particular autographical memory, are moderated by certain
factors. Harley and Reese (1999) wanted to study how children s verbal memory development is
influenced by their self knowledge and parental styles. Fifty eight mother child dyads were assessed
on multiple domains including their joint memory conversations, parental language skills, child s
self recognition, and memory of past narrative skills. The study showed that maternal reminiscing
style and child self recognition style produced the quality of the child s shared memory over time.

No Chicanos On Television By Cecilia Alvear Essay
The world we live in today is surrounded by media. The media goes anywhere from the
television set in your living room to the browser on your cellphone, and even the radio in your
car. In short, we cannot escape the media since it has become a natural part of our everyday lives.
This five letter word seems so insignificant, yet it is so powerful. Since we are in touch with media
everywhere we go, we always seem to believe everything that is shown to us. Many things are
shown in media but that does not necessarily mean that they are always true. There are times in
which certain ethnic groups are falsely portrayed. An article from 1998 titled, No Chicanos on Tv
by Cecilia Alvear, talks about the lack of diversity that one might find in the media. In this case,
she mentions that Chicanos are hardly ever shown in the media and that when they are, it is not in
a positive way. Alvear mentions that they are only shown when they are being arrested or when
there are illegal aliens fleeing. The media as a whole is responsible for the
stereotypes, discrimination, and violence minority groups may face due to their portrayal of these
races. Our country is constructed of dissimilar races and that is what makes us so unique and

Choosing the Right Structure for a New Business
Choosing the Right Structure for a New Business 1. Introduction A new idea for a business is
the setting up of a mobile photographic studio. There are many individuals who want family
portraits, or photos for identification or other reasons, who do not have time to go to a
professional photographer. There are already a number of services where photographers will set
up in a shopping centre to take family portraits of photos of children, or go to schools and take
children s photographs to sell to parents. The new idea takes this a stage further, allowing a
family to invite a photographer into there home for a set period of time, for a set price which
will include a specific number of photographs. The idea of the convenience, as well as high
quality of service, will create differentiation, with the aim of gaining business by
recommendation. The business will be set up ion an areas where there are is a large population
of middle and upper class families, and where a similar service is not easily identifiable. In order
to set up the business it is necessary to consider the practical implications associated with the
different business structures which may be used to establish the firm. 2. Forms of Business
Organization When setting up a business, the idea is only a part of the process. It is also
necessary to consider the way in which the business itself will be set up in order to function. There
are three basic structure which may be used; sole proprietor, partnership

Point Guard Vs Shooting Guard Essay
I m comparing and contrasting two basketball positions, point guard and shooting guard. These

last thing that I m focusing on is how tall do you have to be for these two positions?
Some people may think that point and shooting guards do the same thing. Most of the things they

ball while getting the players to understand the plays. In contrast, one thing that the point guard

They also have to work with the post. On the other hand, shooting guard kind of has to switch
gears because they have to be near the ball, but at the same time be somewhere that they can
shoot. They both have to help so that the ball can get near the basket and so that someone can put
it up. While doing this, the point has to have nice slick passes to get the ball around. When help is
being needed they both have to make sure they re there because their teammates are going to pass
it to one of them. It is exciting but it takes skill for these two positions.
There are really tall people that play basketball, but that is not an requirement. You don t have to
really have height to play these two positions. In comparison, the point and shooting guards are
usually the shortest ones on the team. People also think that the point guard Is the shortest one on
the team. Good news is they don t have to be! On the other hand, shooting guard is the shortest one
on the team. The post are the taller ones that s why they are there to shoot.
What I learned from researching these two positions are that they can be really fun to be on a

one of the well known sports and people play it all throughout the country. These similarities and

The Impact Of Community Service On The Community
Community service is simply defined as non paid work done by an individual, group, or
organization that benefits the community. While community service is commonly interchanged
with volunteerism, these two terms should not be interchanged with each other since the former
could be a mandatory task or requirement in certain situations. These situations include
requirements for being granted citizenship to a country, class projects or requirements, and it can
also serve as a corrective sanction for criminal charges.
Before we discuss the value of community service and its impacts on the individual, let us first look
into the relationship of the individual and to the society. With man being a social being, one can
never separate himself not only from his immediate community but to the larger society as well.
Since time immemorial, man has relied on the various mechanisms of community in order to
address his needs for survival. We can observe man s reliance on the community even dating back to
the prehistoric era. During this time, the primitive communal mode of production was dominant
among communities, where everyone had a part to play in feeding and taking care of the
community members. But this was not only the duties of the community members. While survival
was the primary interest during the primitive communal stage of society, by staying and living

isthmus, a strip of land that essentially connects the greater landmasses of North and South
America. It is believed that volcanic activity in the late Pliocene era closed the former Central
American Seaway that had separated the two continents. The climatic implications of this landform
are incredible, allowing for the redistribution of oceanic currents and the formation of the Gulf
Stream of the Atlantic of today. The native populations of Panama include the Chibchan, Chocoan,
and Cueva communities, and like... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, this union too would collapse in 1840, when separatist Panamanian forces led by a group
of rebels called the Sociedad de Amigos del PaГs began to resist the governance of BogotГЎ.
Panama is geographically placed at extreme economic advantage due to its close and centralized
proximity to North and South America and easy accessibility by sea, yet the Columbian Republic
kept this advantage at bay for political purposes, creating a situation in which Panama was
essentially left at an economic standstill. This tactic created a situation which made Panama s
economic advancement nearly impossible. This coupled with requests for large sums of money
from the Panamanian treasury to fund the war in Pasto, despite unquestionably trying times, led to
the revolutionary upheaval. In October of 1840, the new Governor Carlos de Icaza refused to
comply to yet another request from BogotГЎ for more funds from Panama on the grounds that the
Panamanian treasury was empty. Four weeks after this announcement, on November 18, 1840,
Panama declared its independence (MГ©ndez). In 1903, the United states under President
Theodore Roosevelt signed a treaty with Panama which gave over the rights to build and control
the passage through what we now know as the famous Panama Canal, with the purpose of creating
a politically, economically and geographically significant waterway that would allow for the travel

The Drowned World, Comedy, And Elegy
Climate change and drastic effects go hand in hand when it comes to evaluating aspects of the
Anthropocene. Literary forms such as tragedy, comedy, and elegy play an influential role in the
discussion of these subjects, shaping the way they are interpreted and comprehended. In J.G.
Ballard s The Drowned World, the use of these literary forms frame the ideas of how climate change
affects a future Earth and what that means for humanity. Furthermore, this work manifests different
emerging trends of the Anthropocene such as terraforming, biotechnological de extinction, and
cosmopolitanism to portray an altered world. Tragedyexemplifies itself in many different forms
throughout Ballard s novel. This literary form is especially conveyed through the tragic role of
Kerans and the undeserved death of Bodkins. The question of whether Kerans takes the form of a
tragic hero is a duality presented by the actions he has performed. His heroic tendencies reveal
themselves during his attempt to refill the lagoon after it was drained by Strangman; however, his
reasons for doing so were selfish, and he fled the scene immediately after the act was completed.
While the act itself displayed Keran s noble intentions of wanting to return the lagoon to its natural
pristine state of primal times, his fleeing afterwards illustrates his true motives of heading South
leaving the others to deal with the impact of his actions. Likewise, Bodkin attempted to refill the
lagoon at an earlier place in the

The basic foundations of the theory are applied to education policies, understanding psychological disorders, training courses, behavioral modeling, in the media and has a plethora of further applications in today s society. The child s side contained fun activities while the adult s side contained a toy set, a mallet and a Bobo doll. The child was told that the toys in the adult corner were only for the adults. In three different groups, children were either subjected to an aggressive adult that would punch and kick the Bobo doll, a non aggressive adult that would play with the small toys and ignored the Bobo doll and another group where no adult was present. After the ten minute session the child was brought into another room with many toys and after only two minutes, the child is told that they are no longer allowed to play with those toys. The frustrated children were then brought back into the first room, where the experiment sought to measure the physical and verbal aggression, the amount of times the mallet was used as other forms of aggression and other forms of aggression that did not show imitation of the original adult. The experiment found that children exposed to the aggressive adult were more likely to act more aggressively than the others. The study also found that boys were much more likely to be aggressive and that imitation increased when the model was of the same sex (Bandura, Ross, Ross, 1961). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. 2 Process Theories of Motivation EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Motivation theories are primarily divided into two major types which are the content theories and the process theories. This report aims to critically evaluate two process theories of motivation which is the Expectancy Theory by Victor Vroom and the Equity Theory by John Stacy Adams. The methodologies used in this report include a study and analysis of textbooks, writings and journals from the internet. As a conclusion, the question is not whether each of these approaches to motivationworks, but where and when they work best. Conversely, if he or she sees low productivity as path to the achievement of his or her goals, he or she will tend to be a low producer . Lyman W. Porter and Edward E. Lawler developed a more complete version of motivation depending upon expectancy theory. {draw:frame} Actual performance in a job is primarily determined by the effort spent. But it is also affected by the person s ability to do the job and also by individual s perception of what the required task is. So performance is the responsible factor that leads to intrinsic as well as extrinsic rewards. These rewards, along with the equity of individual leadto satisfaction. The conclusions that can be drawn from this theory are: Individuals will only act when they have a reasonable expectation that their behaviour will lead to the desired outcome. Effort alone is not sufficient. It has to be accompanied by ability and skill. Job satisfaction results from effective job performance rather than the other way round. Job design is therefore of crucial importance as it affects the workers motivation directly. {text:list item} Personal Traits One variable that organisations are not able to affect directly is that which is intrinsic to the individual: the person s locus of control and, obviously, any other personality traits. • 5. Travelling As A Common Hobby How Travel has Evolved from Necessity to Pleasure People travel to various destinations for different reasons, but the ultimate goal of most travelers, is to explore the sites of interests that they may not have seen before. Although almost everyone travels on a daily basis to go to their offices, businesses, work, or school, the trends indicate that travelling for pleasure has become a common hobby (Pooley). Travelling has evolved in many aspects, including the reasons for travelling and efficiency with which people can travel from one location to another. In this paper, the meaning of travelling to different people, changes in travelling for America ns over the years, and the way travelling for leisure came about will be discussed. Travelling means different things to different people. For example, there is a group of travelers that is comprised of people who lead a nomadic lifestyle. These people enjoy diversity and they are likely to consider travelling as a way of life (Dunn). Another category of travelers is a group of people who work away from their relatives. This group of people often travels upcountry, not just to meet their relatives, but also to e1tjoy the rural environment. In addition, the working class is likely to take vacations and travel to new places. They consider travelling as an opportunity to take a break from work, and enjoy an environment that is different from their routine and work settings. Moreover, there are some people who work in ... This success story became an example that the Good Roads Movement brought up continually when fighting for legislation, and it happened as early as 1896 (6). The Good Roads movement eventually had to get politically involved to lobby for money for roads. The cyclists started to partner with the farmers to influence regulation around the state of New York. An employee of the Agricultural Department of the Government said, the bicycle did more toward the cause of good roads than all the agitators since the time of Adam. This employee was saying that cyclists were the biggest activists for good roads since MacAdams engineered the MacAdams roads. The employee continues to say the the government is looking to continue improving roads. Upon arrival in Australia they are moved to detention centres. Detention centres hold people who have come without a visa, any non national and all unauthorised boat arrivals (Australian Human Rights Commission, 2014). These centres hold refugees for indefinite periods and in poor conditions. They are used as a spectacle to represent illegality and a threat to Australian society (Marfleet, 2007, p672). The spectacle of detention centres does not only lie within public perception but also within the architecture of the facility (Grinceri, 2016, p170 171). The barbed wired fence of detention centres is an example. It allows the spectators (citizens) to witness the enclosure of refugees while simultaneously binding refugees within its constraints, punishingly (Pugilese, 2008, p206 207). The visibility provided by the wired fence enables photography and videoing, thus acting as a spectacle. This spectacle is related to the ideals of torture. They are tortured and punished based on exclusions and exception. The refugees held in detention centres form the exception. They are the Other which no one wishes to become and are a danger to society. Those tortured are viewed as deserving because they are seen as a threat. In an attempt to crush forces seeking independence for East Pakistan, the West Pakistani military regime unleashed an efficient campaign of mass murder which aimed at killing millions of Bengalis, and succeeded in doing so. For the bloodbath in March December 1971 when the Pakistani army executed a largely unarmed Bengali population in the then vital part of Pakistan s state known as East Pakistan , in an effort to suppress the region s demand for independence was at the time the biggest story in the world s media. BACKGROUND INFORMATION Before 1971, Bangladesh was divided into two regions; both with opposing political power. Although East Pakistan (Bangladesh) withheld the larger population between the two provinces, it acquired much less political dominance than West Pakistan. Through the power and representation of leader Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, East Pakistan rebelled. Rahman, leader of political party The Awami League demanded more powers both politically and economically. This struggle finally cumulated into the war of independence for East Pakistan. As a Christian, at some point in time you wonder or start to question religion. Does God exist? I feel as though this is a natural question people ask through their personal spiritual journeys. The existenceof Godis provided by the premises of a first mover, a first causer, the proof of possibility and necessity, and God being the designer of the universe, therefore God exists. The natural world must have had a maker. Genesis 1:1 says, In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. I wonder if God made the universe, who made God? God is the transcendent personal cause of the universe, exists independently, there is no beginning. Therefore, nothing caused God. The media goes anywhere from the television set in your living room to the browser on your cellphone, and even the radio in your car. In short, we cannot escape the media since it has become a natural part of our everyday lives. This five letter word seems so insignificant, yet it is so powerful. Since we are in touch with media everywhere we go, we always seem to believe everything that is shown to us. Many things are shown in media but that does not necessarily mean that they are always true. There are times in which certain ethnic groups are falsely portrayed. An article from 1998 titled, No Chicanos on Tv by Cecilia Alvear, talks about the lack of diversity that one might find in the media. In this case, she mentions that Chicanos are hardly ever shown in the media and that when they are, it is not in a positive way. Alvear mentions that they are only shown when they are being arrested or when there are illegal aliens fleeing. The media as a whole is responsible for the stereotypes, discrimination, and violence minority groups may face due to their portrayal of these races. Our country is constructed of dissimilar races and that is what makes us so unique and beautiful. While community service is commonly interchanged with volunteerism, these two terms should not be interchanged with each other since the former could be a mandatory task or requirement in certain situations. These situations include requirements for being granted citizenship to a country, class projects or requirements, and it can also serve as a corrective sanction for criminal charges. Literary forms such as tragedy, comedy, and elegy play an influential role in the discussion of these subjects, shaping the way they are interpreted and comprehended. In J.G. Ballard s The Drowned World, the use of these literary forms frame the ideas of how climate change affects a future Earth and what that means for humanity. Furthermore, this work manifests different emerging trends of the Anthropocene such as terraforming, biotechnological de extinction, and cosmopolitanism to portray an altered world. Tragedyexemplifies itself in many different forms throughout Ballard s novel. This literary form is especially conveyed through the tragic role of Kerans and the undeserved death of Bodkins. The question of whether Kerans takes the form of a tragic hero is a duality presented by the actions he has performed. His heroic tendencies reveal themselves during his attempt to refill the lagoon after it was drained by Strangman; however, his reasons for doing so were selfish, and he fled the scene immediately after the act was completed. While the act itself displayed Keran s noble intentions of wanting to return the lagoon to its natural pristine state of primal times, his fleeing afterwards illustrates his true motives of heading South leaving the others to deal with the impact of his actions.
