Pros And Cons Of School Uniforms In Public Schools
Many public schools around the world have always given children diversity within the educational
environment. School administrators are able to achieve this goal by allowing students the ability to
freely express themselves. Until recent years, public schools and administrators have noted an
astonishing difference in behavior and academic performance. This success is due to the use of school
uniforms mandated in public schools. Unfortunately, most school districts follow certain policies that
restrict students from choosing their own form of dress. This restriction may contain unintentional
negative effects that may emotionally harm the children and interfere with their true self. School
uniforms follow strict policies that should not be mandatory in public schools because they are a
violation of student s human rights that deny these children the right to self expression and
individuality.
When school uniforms are mandatory they are unjustly forced upon a student denying them a sense of
self expression. Most children enjoy wearing clothing that they like and clothing that represents who
they are becoming as an individual. Although, when uniforms are mandatory students are not
permitted to wear the style of clothing that they enjoy. This could include clothing that represents the
children as a person such as graphics, symbols, lettering and phrases. When students are given a
mandatory dress code, they are ripped of their human right of self expression. One important factor

Do Managers Have the Right to Seek Control over Their...
Case Study 1
Question: Do managers have the right to seek control over their employees? Does anyone, for that
matter, have their right to control others? Does control imply manipulation? And if so, is there
anything wrong with managers manipulating employees through goal setting or other motivational
Manipulation is getting what you want by ignoring or harming the desires of others. Manipulators use
charm, persuasion, coaxing, trickery, and misdirection. The underlying idea is I have to fool people to
make them give me what I want. We can catch ourselves falling into this behavior when you aren t
listening to other people, when you ignore what they want and when you pretend that your desires cost
nobody else a price. There are also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Control is an obvious action to handle while manipulation is much more without knowing toward the
person. When people says about manipulation, they would mostly says that it is either a person lie or
withhold the truth to get someone to change themselves, giving them the false illusion of choice. As
for control, they would says that it is way more like blocking a person s way to go or do.
For my own opinion, there is no wrong with managers manipulating employees through goal setting
or other motivational techniques, but it has to depend on how much a manager manipulate. An
appropriate manipulation would give benefits to everyone. For example, a manager handles an
organization by lying employees without their knowing to reach the target. It does not represent that
the manager did not set limitation on the organization, but using a way more not knowing by
employees to ensure that they would not challenge on risky projects. The goal setting would be
determined by manager to reach by manipulating. Beside manipulation, managers do have their own
ways to reach the goal setting as well. Some of the managers prefer control employees than
manipulating them. It is because manipulation is much more high risks than control employees works.
For example, manager may set budget on the project to avoid high risks burden to hold. It is not to say
that it is bad outcomes, but employees may be not satisfied and could not develop a better idea.
Someone may think that manipulation is

Death as Analyzed through Socrates and Hamlet
Death, the one appointment we all must keep, and for which no time is set (Charlie Chan). Although
many believe it to be ominous, death, signifies an end to this earthly and material life; the life of
which we are sure of. Plato s Phaedo and Shakespeare s play Hamlet offer different perspectives on
the life we are unsure of, namely death or the afterlife. Through the characters of Socrates and Hamlet,
readers are offered two contrasting outlooks on death. On one side, Hamlet is haunted by the fear of
the unknown, and leads his morality astray. Inversely, Socrates portrays a man who is relieved by the
prospect of death. Both Hamlet and Socrates demonstrate inherent differences in their internal
characteristics, but most notable difference is the characters contrasting outlooks on the meaning of
life and death. Socrates, considered the leader of philosophy, WANTS to die, because only in the
afterlife will he be able to see the truth without the distractions of his body. Hamlet, on the other hand,
fears what will happen in the afterlife. He would like to escape his life, which at the moment is
nothing short of depressing, but he worries that the afterlife might prove to be a bad dream, even
worse than his life at this moment.
In Phaedo, Socrates uses what he believes to be philosophical truths in order to convince his twice
seven that the soul is eternal, and the body corrupts it. Therefore Socrates goes on to comment that
any true philosopher would gladly face death

Essay on Marketing Project
Executive Summary Wentworth Industrial Cleaning Supplies is an organization whose potential is
currently clouded by their lack of competitive strategy. Through analysis of their current situation,
several key issues were identified: * Market Research is ineffective and unimplemented * Product line
ignores majority of market * Roles of key personnel are illogical and inefficient * Relations with
distributors are hostile and unsustainable * Profits and growth is stagnant in an advancing industry *
Communication mechanism is fragmented After evaluation of the alternative courses WICS has for

Moreover, SSDs feel neglected in the sense that they lack direct communication to management level
WICS employees and/or the ability to relay their concerns/recommendations via area managers.
Distributor Relations The perceived subjection to pressure tactics and the lack of belief in WICS
products amongst distributors is an ongoing promotional issue that must be immediately addressed. As
well, the combination of WICS current high minimum buy ins and lack of communication between
SSDs and management level WICS staff has yielded an environment retardant to growth for WICS
products. WICS refusal to grow geographically with its respective SSDs is limiting both to SSD
relations and company growth. Requiring SSDs to beta test WICS products is detrimental to both
WICS brand image and once again, SSD relations. Because the products currently require timely
demonstrations, high sales costs for SSDs have occurred. Recommendations Additional Duties for
Territorial Managers The territory managers will be responsible for hunting new distributor clients that
would work with WICS and assigning them to an area manager. The territory manager will allocate
the new distributor to a manager in accordance with the ratio that we have in place: 1 Territory

Description Of A Person s Personality

ESTJ vs. INFJ What is the Difference? A person s personality is his or her essence. It is what guides
decisions, emotions, and even thoughts. Some may wonder if it is possible to explore every nuance of
such a complex part of a being, but there are ways to determine what type of personality a person has,
and then branch off into a more detailed examination of that person specifically. Combined with other
factors, such as personality disorders and the environment that someone has grown up in, the Myers
Briggs Type Indicator, or MBTI, test and analysis can determine an accurate portrayal of a personality.
Created in 1943 by Katherine Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers, it is a system made up of four basic
functions and sub functions that combine to make a personality type. The mother and daughter team
constructed it off of Jung s theories (History 2). Based on this system, one of the most common
personality types in the US population is called an ESTJ, and one of the least common personality
types is called an INFJ. There are many differences and similarities between these two types. An ESTJ
personality, overall, is practical, fact based, and outgoing, whereas an INFJ personality is more private
and makes decisions based on feelings; however, both are organized people who make good leaders
and are capable of great success in roles that involve helping others.

The Great Betrayal By Modi And The Bjp
The Great Betrayal Act by Modi and the BJP is slowly but steadily unfolding. Credibility is rapidly
diminishing amongst majority of his followers, admirers, supporters and sympathizers. By aggressive
speech making during poll campaigning, Modi had endeared himself to the Aam Aadmi , particularly
sections of the Middle Class, by raising Great Expectations and hopes among them by Ache Din Aane
Wale Hain slogan. Modi s high decibel campaign promises included: Good Governance Simple and
Smart governance through transparency ; stemming the rot corruption, particularly in high places;
controlling price rise and inflation; upholding dignity and self respect of women; countering LoC
violations and terror acts firmly; and many others like One Rank One Pension etc., reduced to print in
the BJPs 2014 Election manifesto. A brief review of happenings during the last two months of Modi s
governance provide clear signals on what to expect in posterity. Transparency is the foremost pre
requisite for Good Governance Simple and Smart governance. Modi has also retracted into what was
derisively hailed during the UPA rule as Man Mohan Singh silent mode. After becoming PM, Modi
has insulated himself from the media glare. Even on the social media network, he is no longer as
aggressive and communicative on key issues as he was during the pre election orchestra. Why is Modi
sulking away from media glare? Is he afraid to face the media and answer questions on various key
issues?

The New York Time Article By Timothy William Essay
In the New York Time Article by Timothy William, Inquiry to Examine Racial Bias in the San
Francisco Police Department, first thing to remember known as implied social perception, implicit
bias refers to the attitudes or stereotypes that affect our understanding, actions, and decisions in an
unconscious manner. Another key point of argument is that there is no systematic bias in the criminal
justice base on race. To point out, in performing their policing duties, police officer are able to
exercise a high degree of discretion. This means that they have a have a broad freedom to make a
decision about how to act on the given situation. For this reason some police officer deliberately use
their wide power of discretion and their authority to perform acts of misconduct. In this article it is
generally agreed that discrimination based on racial or ethnic origin is morally wrong and a violation
of the principle of impartiality. In fact impartiality principles requires that those who are equal be
treated equally based on similarities, and that race not be a relevant consideration in the assessment.
However, in May, District Attorney George Gascon appointed a three judge body of distinguished
jurists to look into bias in the department following a series of misconduct scandals, the most
troubling being a group of police officers who were caught sending racist text messages. Now, the
scope, aim, participants and timeline of the ongoing investigation have been revealed in a series

Estella Havisham And Biddy s Relationship Essay
The use of Contrast was also seen in Dicken s novel, but in a different way. He uses two characters to
contrast each other, Estella Havisham and Biddy. Through these characters we get a glimpse of the
different statuses or levels in society. Estella is a rich heiress and adoptive daughter of Miss Havisham.
Biddy is an intelligent, kind woman who was raised to be a respectful young lady. It almost seems like
she is the anti Estella. Estella is rich, she s poor. Biddy is pleasant, attentive and sweet while Estalla is
neither of those. Estella was raised by a woman who was at the end of her rope, leading to her
corruption. She is brought up to be cold hearted and a heart breaker. Dickens uses these characters to
show status and how the environment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reader gets a true glimpse of Miss Havisham s lifestyle when Pip pays a visit. I entered, therefore,
and found myself in a pretty large room, well lighted with wax candles. No glimpse of daylight was to
be seen in it. It was a dressing room, as I supposed from the furniture, though much of it was of forms
and uses then quite unknown to me. But prominent in it was a draped table with a gilded looking
glass, and that I made out at first sight to be a fine lady s dressing table.... But, I saw that everything
within my view which ought to be white, had been white long ago, and had lost its lustre, and was
faded and yellow. I saw that the bride within the bridal dress had withered like the dress, and like the

descended into madness. Her own wealth led to her corruption. She never overcame this obstacle and
vowed the rest of her life to getting revenge. This tragic event changed her and soon resulted in the
corruption of her and her daughter. There seems to be a silent debate on the meaning of a gentleman.

who acts as they are. It is considered that you

The Rights Of A Contract
For a contract to be created there has to be an offer, acceptance, intention of legal consequence, and
consideration. Capacity comes under the umbrella of contract law. It can be defined as a person s
capability entering in to a legal contract or agreement and be bound by it. Upex (2008) has said all
persons have full legal power to enter into any legal contract they wish and thus bind themselves .
Capacity can be categorized under three headings; Individuals, Corporations and Partnerships. There
are exceptions to the rule of entering a contract which includes minors, people with a mental illnesses,
or who are under the influence of alcohol. These groups of people are seen as having no capacity, or
incapacity. If any of these issues are present at the time they are entering in to the contract then it can
then be seen as unenforceable or will be queried. Under the Family Law Reform Act 1969 a minor is
seen as a person under the age of 18. The main statute which minors are governed by is the Minors
Contract Act 1987. It states a contract made by a minor is not void; and although the minor is not
normally bound, the other party will be. Minors are seen as having limitations when entering in to
contracts, and therefore there are some immunities to the rule. This includes necessaries and none
necessaires, voidable contracts, or non binding contracts which have been ratified. In terms of the
necessaries, The Sale of Goods Act 1979 says that goods suitable to the condition

The Similarities And Differences Of Ancient Egyptian Religion

ecclesiastical authorities (http://www.dictionary.com/browse/theocratic). The Egyptian religion begins
with Shu and Tefnut, who mated and gave birth to Geb and Nut, Geb and Nut were brother and sister,

Essay on The Sounds of Rebel Without a Cause
Director Nicholas Ray was lucky to have a talented composer create an original score for Rebel
Without A Cause. Leonard Rosenman was born in 1924 and studied music in New York and Europe.
His work as a film composer and arranger is very traditional, and has been regarded by some music
critics as insignificant. However, Rosenman received Academy Awards and Oscar nominations for his
work. Along with film scores, Rosenman wrote theme music and scores for numerous television
shows. The score in Rebel Without A Cause is much like another film starring James Dean, East of
Eden.
The sounds and music in this film are very realistic, and to the point. There is not anything abstract or

Later on in the day, after a field trip to the local planetarium, Jim meets a group of kids that are
troublemakers and want to fight with him. As a conversation begins, music also begins in the
background, yet quickly changes when the gang wants trouble. The music becomes fast, louder, and
more suspenseful. The style of mickeymousing, type of score [that] uses music as a literal equivalent
to the image (Giannetti, 231), was also used in this same scene. Jim and the character of Buzz are
fighting each other with knives, and at every jab of the knife the music changes and becomes more
dramatic and even more suspenseful. It is said that, music can serve as a kind of overture to suggest
the mood or spirit of the film as a whole (Giannetti, 233). Later on, James Dean s character is asking
his father for advice, and the music becomes quiet, slow and mysterious. Another scene where the
score plays a vital role in the atmosphere is during an argument with Jim and his parents. Jim and his
father are yelling, and when Jim grabs his father as if to hit him, the music turns scary and very
intense.
Along with background music, sound effects play more of a role on the way we feel than many
moviegoers think, and although the function of sound effects is primarily atmospheric, they can also
be precise sources of meaning in film (Giannetti, 225). When the

computer which he later named Apple 1. He tried to sell it, but did not have any success initially. He
later designed Apple II, which was launched at a trade show as the first personal computer with color
graphics and a case. Wozniak had been dabbling in computer design for some time when, Jobs, who
had an eye for the future, insisted that he and Wozniak try to sell the machine. In 1980, Apple III was

Differences Between The Colonies Of New England And The...
The differences between the colonies of New England and the southern region were stark. First, the
settlers who immigrated to the new world had different reasons for doing so. South Carolina was
established as a buffer zone between other English colonies and the Spanish colonies in Florida.
Georgia was founded for an even more interesting reason. In England, there were many social
problems including lewdness, drunkenness, and various sexual sins. Also, those in the upper class who
found themselves unable to pay back their loans were sent to debtor s prisons. Georgia was intended
to be a place for those people to get a new start, however, most of the colonists who ended up there
were poor farmers. On the other hand, the colonies of New England were set up primarily for religious
reasons. Although there were some that sought profit in New England, most settlers sought liberty and
freedom of worship. English separatists, who vehemently disagreed with the way the Church of
England was set up, left Holland and came to America on the Mayflower. They landed in modern
Massachusetts and established the Plymouth Colony. Rhode Island was also founded on a religious
basis after Roger Williams and his fellow dissenters were exiled from Massachusetts. It became a
haven for Quakers, Jews, Baptists and members of other minority religions.
A second difference in the colonies of the southern region and of New England comes in the basis of
their economies. South Carolina was focusing on

wealth held by an individual. Carnegie begins his essay by describing how the disparity of wealth has
changed over the years. He also describes how wealth has simply grown in general over time.
Carnegie states, What were the luxuries have become the necessaries of life . He then goes on to
discuss ways that excess wealth accumulated by any one person can be spent or distributed. There are
three ways, or modes, that Carnegie touches on in order to dispose

The Human Condition Of The World
The Human Condition can be argued to be in a crisis with its position in modern society.
With a massive decline in personal interaction, corruption in government, and the event of
climate change that has never before been seen in the history of this planet. There are few small
groups around the world that try to make this crisis known to the world, although many world
powers and much of the population choose to either deny or ignore the cry for help. There is a
plethora of ways to spread the word, and one of the most common is through writing; authors
such as Jared Diamond or Al Gore commit their lives to informing the world about the decline of
the human condition. There are also authors that do not rely on pressing these matters ... Show more

Understanding just how temptation, culture and relationships can be interpreted as magic reveals
how these authors use their genre to inform the population of the failing human condition.
When the term magic is brought up in any kind of media, the immediate thought of
most people is fairy dust, unicorns, or J.K. Rowling s Harry Potter series; although the magic
in Magical Realism is truly none of that at all. The magic in Magical Realism comes from the
characters in the novels, through their thoughts and actions they create the magic that exists in
these novels. In these themes the magic reveals itself, they appear as unstoppable forces in
human nature that cannot be derived to an elementary force, and thus appears magical.
Temptation for instance, appears in A Hundred Years of Solitude and Invisible Cities to lure men
to unspeakable fates that impact the rest of their lives and the lives of the people around them.
Although the essence of temptation is an unexplainable force that exists blatantly to lead
humanity away from morality, the same force exists within the other two reoccurring themes that
are seen in Magical Realism. For example, relationships are emphasized and seen often in Life of
Pi and A Hundred Years of Solitude and are put in place to show how they play a key role in the
stories. The same force that deals with temptation

Durrenmatt Hero
Swiss author and dramatist, Friedrich Durrenmatt, in his play The Visit, depicts the character Alfred Ill
through the literary technique pathos as the work projects his unfortunate downfall. By portraying
Alfred Ill dynamically, Durrenmatt s purpose is to accentuate his tragic fate and highlight the qualities
he possesses similar to a tragic hero in Greek Literature. Durrenmatt creates a sympathetic feeling
towards Alfred Ill in order to alter the reader s feelings towards him even though he is fully
responsible for his own downfall.
In Act 1, the main characters of the play become known. One mentioned in the introduction, Mr.
Alfred Ill most commonly called Ill is a father and general store owner. The play takes place in a

Alfred Ill s downfall finally plummets to the ending result and the reader s emotions are exercised
heavily. The town has finally come to the decision to murder Alfred Ill once and for all. Even family,
town officials, and Ill s closest friends turned against him. The reader feels sympathetic towards Ill
even though he is fully responsible for what he did in the past ones feels as if he does not deserve such
punishment. After days of perpetual paranoia Mr. Alfred Ill is accepting of his fate. This is a very
gloomy part in the play because the reader is still emotionally sympathetic towards Alfred Ill knowing
of his past mistake. The mayor asks Ill: Will you respect our decision concerning the acceptance of
rejection of the Claire Zachanassian Endowment? Alfred Ill responds with I respect it. Although quite
sugar coated, this means that Alfred Ill is to be put to death so the city of Gullen can accept Claire
Zachanassian s money. This quote shows the fact that Ill has accepted his unfortunate fate caused
entirely due to his own actions. The fact that Alfred Ill didn t put up a fight and merely stood in
acceptance causes the reader to feel pity. This is a solemn part for Ill and the reader. This party in the
play as a whole represents Ill at his time of death and lowest point. The reader can make the
comparison of Alfred Ill s character from the beginning of the play till the end and feel pity. As
mentioned in the introduction, Alfred Ill is

Ethical Dilemma Reflection
Reflective Essay Ethical Dilemma and Decision Making When asked to reflect on an ethical dilemma
that I faced in life, it really makes me think of all the possible situations that happened in my personal
and professional life. There are several instances where I have faced ethical dilemma but I wish to
point out to one such instance that I encountered at my workplace where I was able to take decision
based on my conscience and I feel I have made the right choice and below is the reflective account of
that incident.
Situation: I started working for a large IT outsourcing company right after my graduation for a period
of 3 years. After a year, I had my long term friend joining the same company and it ever happened that
she joined my team as my subordinate for the same project. Since it is a software based company, we
usually work in teams and each of our work is made systematic in a way that each and every team
member s work is interrelated. After a period of time my friend who was also my subordinate at work
started abusing her flex time at work and was taking time off because her kid fell sick often.
Since we work in a team to meet the end results of our business client, we expect each team member
to deliver his/ her work without any down time. I did insist her several times to ... Show more content

and it questions my guilt that I am eventually reinforcing her to take many more offs that will affect

Budget cuts in emergency services research paper Budget cuts have become prevalent in today s
society. More so in recent years inside of emergency services where until recently have been immune.
Governments have withheld from cutting because the 9/11 terrorist attacks placed these services on a
pedestal. This has caused a huge rise in cuts to many services. It also hits harder in cities that are
already inside of a budget crisis. Budget cuts should be prevented and avoided in emergency services.
In recent years funding for emergency services have been on a steady decline since the 9/11 terror
attacks. According to Walters [emergency services have] spent a decade on a post 9/11 pedestal (6). ...

Many do not know of the budget crisis going on but those that do recognize it is a major issue. These
citizens that understand what is going of have begun to protest because their safety is at risk. The cuts
that have been going on reduce the size of the police force which in turn brings crime rates up, and
also fire departments have fewer men and unmaintained equipment to help rescue civilians. This
scares many citizens into either moving to a city with a better emergency service budget or protesting
to get their city s budget raised. I pray that nobody in this room needs the police or fire in their new
future, another attendee remarked (qtd. In Smith 5). Many citizens feel that their local governments
have been focused on the wrong things. They believe that the local governments have it all wrong.
One citizen quoted in Smith paragraph 6 said the public service has to be number one. These civilians
have gone to city council meeting with petitions and protested a change. In some areas, this has led to

Why Is It Important For Children
Why Is It Important For Children to Have Opportunities For Play? (D1)
Play is engaging in activities for enjoyment and recreation rather than a serious or practical purpose

What Is The Rising Tide Of Nationalism In Trade
Responding to the Rising Tide of Nationalism in Trade: Evolving the Nation s Role to Make Trade
Great Again
21119851
University of Western Australia
I INTRODUCTION
A resurgence of rising nationalism in recent years has prompted a slew of trade protectionist policies
defending against the perceived threat to national sovereignty by trade globalisation. Recent trends in
trade demonstrate a shifting reliance towards bilateral agreements and regional trading while shrinking
away from multilateral participation. This implementation of nationalist trade protectionism has in
solitude served to corrode the openness, trade, and global growth which vitally fuel the national
interests which these ideologies seek to defend. While ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a matter of practice, nationalism frequently entails the implementation of policy which seeks to
reclaim national resources from foreign groups, and redistribute those resources to the nation s citizens
or government. This may be achieved through trade protectionism practices: where governments
intentionally safeguard domestic industry from foreign competition, usually through policy regulation
including tariffs or import quotas. By contrast, globalisation prioritises the exchange of goods and
services, the interaction of people, and the sharing of information and technology across nations as
enabled through domestic policy and international agreement. The prosperity of any nation is therefore
intertwined with the prosperity of others, creating an environment of the shared pursuit of national
interest, which fosters the sharing of success between nations through communal global growth.
B Modern Resurgence of Nationalism
The WTO has warned that the recent global increase in nationalism may threaten the global economy
more than any time in recent history, stating that as long as global economic weakness persists,
protectionist pressure will build and could eventually become overwhelming . As economic stagnation
continues, both dominant and emerging economies are now implementing policy designed to
safeguard against the employment losses, high ratio of capital outflow, and foreign exploitation which
threaten to undermine their national economic interests.

P3 Explain patterns and trends in health and illness among different social groupings
Gender
Men and women have different levels of risks of getting mental illnesses such as alcohol dependency.
This is more than twice as high in men than women. In developed countries, approximately 1 in 5 men
and 1 in 12 women develop alcohol dependence during their lives WHO 2015. This clearly shows that
men and women have different risks when it comes to health and illness. Men are also twice as likely
to have personality disorders, but women are more likely to have anxiety and depression than men are.
Women have more accounts of sexual harassment and rape and this has a knock on effect to the
amount of people with depression.

This could be due to the environment in which they live or the DNA of the ethnic group. Some ethnic
groups do not report long term illnesses so this may affect the statistics. Asians also have a high level
of illness as they do not live the same as the western world, for example due to religion and personal
preference some Asians do not eat meat which can have a direct effect on their health. Also travellers
and gypsys live in places with poor sanitation such as caravans and makeshift camps which do not
have flushing toilets and other hygiene products. This may put their health at risk.
Age
People of older age are more likely to have long term or fatal illnesses In 1995, only 21% of all deaths
were among the under 5s, 7% among those 5 19, 29% among those 20 64, and 43% among the over
65s. By 2025, 8% of all deaths will be in the under 5s, 3% among 5 19 year olds, 27% among 20 64
year olds and 63% among the over 65s. WHO 2015. Cancer, Heart disease and more commonly
related to the 70 75 age group and also people aged 75 and above have more chance of becoming
impaired such as visually, mentally, mobility and hearing. Women with breast cancer deprives women
of 10 years of their life expectancy making women that have/do have breast cancer not live as long.

The Play Developed By The Molasses Flood
The indie game scene has blossomed in recent years as the home console market has welcomed small
developers with open arms to self publish their titles and reach a gaming audience and community
once inaccessible to them. Indie games and their developers often take risks with game design, and
express their ideas in fresh and creative ways. The Flame in the Flood, an indie title developed by The
Molasses Flood, is one of these titles as it places the player in the role of a young woman who is
accompanied by her dog as they travel down a treacherous river and scavenge for food and other
resources.
The world in which the game takes place has become flooded, and the player must navigate their way
down river to find shelter, resources, and valuables to stay alive. One could interpret the flame in the
title as a symbol of desire and willpower, meanwhile the flood is the constant struggle and battle that
one must face. The Flame in the Flood will not appeal to everyone as the game s atmosphere and
setting is of the gloomy and isolated variety, but those interested in the survival genre will find a
challenging game that has charm buried underneath its tough exterior.
If you are in need of a lengthy tutorial or gradual means of progress, you won t find that in The Flame
in the Flood. The game starts off by placing you in a dire situation as you scavenge for resources in
the opening area, and are then immediately pushed on your makeshift boat so that you move towards
other areas to

  • 2. Pros And Cons Of School Uniforms In Public Schools Many public schools around the world have always given children diversity within the educational environment. School administrators are able to achieve this goal by allowing students the ability to freely express themselves. Until recent years, public schools and administrators have noted an astonishing difference in behavior and academic performance. This success is due to the use of school uniforms mandated in public schools. Unfortunately, most school districts follow certain policies that restrict students from choosing their own form of dress. This restriction may contain unintentional negative effects that may emotionally harm the children and interfere with their true self. School uniforms follow strict policies that should not be mandatory in public schools because they are a violation of student s human rights that deny these children the right to self expression and individuality. When school uniforms are mandatory they are unjustly forced upon a student denying them a sense of self expression. Most children enjoy wearing clothing that they like and clothing that represents who they are becoming as an individual. Although, when uniforms are mandatory students are not permitted to wear the style of clothing that they enjoy. This could include clothing that represents the children as a person such as graphics, symbols, lettering and phrases. When students are given a mandatory dress code, they are ripped of their human right of self expression. One important factor ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Do Managers Have the Right to Seek Control over Their... Case Study 1 Question: Do managers have the right to seek control over their employees? Does anyone, for that matter, have their right to control others? Does control imply manipulation? And if so, is there anything wrong with managers manipulating employees through goal setting or other motivational Manipulation is getting what you want by ignoring or harming the desires of others. Manipulators use charm, persuasion, coaxing, trickery, and misdirection. The underlying idea is I have to fool people to make them give me what I want. We can catch ourselves falling into this behavior when you aren t listening to other people, when you ignore what they want and when you pretend that your desires cost nobody else a price. There are also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Control is an obvious action to handle while manipulation is much more without knowing toward the person. When people says about manipulation, they would mostly says that it is either a person lie or withhold the truth to get someone to change themselves, giving them the false illusion of choice. As for control, they would says that it is way more like blocking a person s way to go or do. For my own opinion, there is no wrong with managers manipulating employees through goal setting or other motivational techniques, but it has to depend on how much a manager manipulate. An appropriate manipulation would give benefits to everyone. For example, a manager handles an organization by lying employees without their knowing to reach the target. It does not represent that the manager did not set limitation on the organization, but using a way more not knowing by employees to ensure that they would not challenge on risky projects. The goal setting would be determined by manager to reach by manipulating. Beside manipulation, managers do have their own ways to reach the goal setting as well. Some of the managers prefer control employees than manipulating them. It is because manipulation is much more high risks than control employees works. For example, manager may set budget on the project to avoid high risks burden to hold. It is not to say that it is bad outcomes, but employees may be not satisfied and could not develop a better idea. Someone may think that manipulation is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Death as Analyzed through Socrates and Hamlet Death, the one appointment we all must keep, and for which no time is set (Charlie Chan). Although many believe it to be ominous, death, signifies an end to this earthly and material life; the life of which we are sure of. Plato s Phaedo and Shakespeare s play Hamlet offer different perspectives on the life we are unsure of, namely death or the afterlife. Through the characters of Socrates and Hamlet, readers are offered two contrasting outlooks on death. On one side, Hamlet is haunted by the fear of the unknown, and leads his morality astray. Inversely, Socrates portrays a man who is relieved by the prospect of death. Both Hamlet and Socrates demonstrate inherent differences in their internal characteristics, but most notable difference is the characters contrasting outlooks on the meaning of life and death. Socrates, considered the leader of philosophy, WANTS to die, because only in the afterlife will he be able to see the truth without the distractions of his body. Hamlet, on the other hand, fears what will happen in the afterlife. He would like to escape his life, which at the moment is nothing short of depressing, but he worries that the afterlife might prove to be a bad dream, even worse than his life at this moment. In Phaedo, Socrates uses what he believes to be philosophical truths in order to convince his twice seven that the soul is eternal, and the body corrupts it. Therefore Socrates goes on to comment that any true philosopher would gladly face death ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Through analysis of their current situation, several key issues were identified: * Market Research is ineffective and unimplemented * Product line ignores majority of market * Roles of key personnel are illogical and inefficient * Relations with distributors are hostile and unsustainable * Profits and growth is stagnant in an advancing industry * Communication mechanism is fragmented After evaluation of the alternative courses WICS has for consideration, recommendations to address and rectify each issue were chosen. Moreover, SSDs feel neglected in the sense that they lack direct communication to management level WICS employees and/or the ability to relay their concerns/recommendations via area managers. Distributor Relations The perceived subjection to pressure tactics and the lack of belief in WICS products amongst distributors is an ongoing promotional issue that must be immediately addressed. As well, the combination of WICS current high minimum buy ins and lack of communication between SSDs and management level WICS staff has yielded an environment retardant to growth for WICS products. WICS refusal to grow geographically with its respective SSDs is limiting both to SSD relations and company growth. Requiring SSDs to beta test WICS products is detrimental to both WICS brand image and once again, SSD relations. Because the products currently require timely demonstrations, high sales costs for SSDs have occurred. Recommendations Additional Duties for Territorial Managers The territory managers will be responsible for hunting new distributor clients that would work with WICS and assigning them to an area manager. The territory manager will allocate the new distributor to a manager in accordance with the ratio that we have in place: 1 Territory Manager: Area Managers 4:1 Area Manager: ... • 6. Description Of A Person s Personality Meara Gietl Mrs. Leach English 225 B3 6 December 2014 Word Count: 2371 ESTJ vs. INFJ What is the Difference? A person s personality is his or her essence. It is what guides decisions, emotions, and even thoughts. Some may wonder if it is possible to explore every nuance of such a complex part of a being, but there are ways to determine what type of personality a person has, and then branch off into a more detailed examination of that person specifically. Combined with other factors, such as personality disorders and the environment that someone has grown up in, the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, or MBTI, test and analysis can determine an accurate portrayal of a personality. Created in 1943 by Katherine Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers, it is a system made up of four basic functions and sub functions that combine to make a personality type. The mother and daughter team constructed it off of Jung s theories (History 2). Based on this system, one of the most common personality types in the US population is called an ESTJ, and one of the least common personality types is called an INFJ. There are many differences and similarities between these two types. An ESTJ personality, overall, is practical, fact based, and outgoing, whereas an INFJ personality is more private and makes decisions based on feelings; however, both are organized people who make good leaders and are capable of great success in roles that involve helping others. • 7. The Great Betrayal By Modi And The Bjp The Great Betrayal Act by Modi and the BJP is slowly but steadily unfolding. Credibility is rapidly diminishing amongst majority of his followers, admirers, supporters and sympathizers. By aggressive speech making during poll campaigning, Modi had endeared himself to the Aam Aadmi , particularly sections of the Middle Class, by raising Great Expectations and hopes among them by Ache Din Aane Wale Hain slogan. Modi s high decibel campaign promises included: Good Governance Simple and Smart governance through transparency ; stemming the rot corruption, particularly in high places; controlling price rise and inflation; upholding dignity and self respect of women; countering LoC violations and terror acts firmly; and many others like One Rank One Pension etc., reduced to print in the BJPs 2014 Election manifesto. A brief review of happenings during the last two months of Modi s governance provide clear signals on what to expect in posterity. Transparency is the foremost pre requisite for Good Governance Simple and Smart governance. Modi has also retracted into what was derisively hailed during the UPA rule as Man Mohan Singh silent mode. After becoming PM, Modi has insulated himself from the media glare. Even on the social media network, he is no longer as aggressive and communicative on key issues as he was during the pre election orchestra. Why is Modi sulking away from media glare? • 8. The New York Time Article By Timothy William Essay In the New York Time Article by Timothy William, Inquiry to Examine Racial Bias in the San Francisco Police Department, first thing to remember known as implied social perception, implicit bias refers to the attitudes or stereotypes that affect our understanding, actions, and decisions in an unconscious manner. Another key point of argument is that there is no systematic bias in the criminal justice base on race. To point out, in performing their policing duties, police officer are able to exercise a high degree of discretion. This means that they have a have a broad freedom to make a decision about how to act on the given situation. For this reason some police officer deliberately use their wide power of discretion and their authority to perform acts of misconduct. In this article it is generally agreed that discrimination based on racial or ethnic origin is morally wrong and a violation of the principle of impartiality. In fact impartiality principles requires that those who are equal be treated equally based on similarities, and that race not be a relevant consideration in the assessment. However, in May, District Attorney George Gascon appointed a three judge body of distinguished jurists to look into bias in the department following a series of misconduct scandals, the most troubling being a group of police officers who were caught sending racist text messages. • 10. Estella Havisham And Biddy s Relationship Essay The use of Contrast was also seen in Dicken s novel, but in a different way. He uses two characters to contrast each other, Estella Havisham and Biddy. Through these characters we get a glimpse of the different statuses or levels in society. Estella is a rich heiress and adoptive daughter of Miss Havisham. Biddy is an intelligent, kind woman who was raised to be a respectful young lady. It almost seems like she is the anti Estella. Estella is rich, she s poor. Biddy is pleasant, attentive and sweet while Estalla is neither of those. Estella was raised by a woman who was at the end of her rope, leading to her corruption. She is brought up to be cold hearted and a heart breaker. Dickens uses these characters to show status and how the environment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... No glimpse of daylight was to be seen in it. It was a dressing room, as I supposed from the furniture, though much of it was of forms and uses then quite unknown to me. But prominent in it was a draped table with a gilded looking glass, and that I made out at first sight to be a fine lady s dressing table.... But, I saw that everything within my view which ought to be white, had been white long ago, and had lost its lustre, and was faded and yellow. I saw that the bride within the bridal dress had withered like the dress, and like the flowers, and had no brightness left but the brightness of her sunken eyes... (Great expectations, pg 55 56). After the man she was suppose to be wed left her at the altar and took her money with him, she descended into madness. Her own wealth led to her corruption. She never overcame this obstacle and vowed the rest of her life to getting revenge. This tragic event changed her and soon resulted in the corruption of her and her daughter. • 12. The Rights Of A Contract For a contract to be created there has to be an offer, acceptance, intention of legal consequence, and consideration. Capacity comes under the umbrella of contract law. It can be defined as a person s capability entering in to a legal contract or agreement and be bound by it. Upex (2008) has said all persons have full legal power to enter into any legal contract they wish and thus bind themselves . Capacity can be categorized under three headings; Individuals, Corporations and Partnerships. There are exceptions to the rule of entering a contract which includes minors, people with a mental illnesses, or who are under the influence of alcohol. These groups of people are seen as having no capacity, or incapacity. If any of these issues are present at the time they are entering in to the contract then it can then be seen as unenforceable or will be queried. Under the Family Law Reform Act 1969 a minor is seen as a person under the age of 18. The main statute which minors are governed by is the Minors Contract Act 1987. It states a contract made by a minor is not void; and although the minor is not normally bound, the other party will be. Minors are seen as having limitations when entering in to contracts, and therefore there are some immunities to the rule. This includes necessaries and none necessaires, voidable contracts, or non binding contracts which have been ratified. • 14. Essay on The Sounds of Rebel Without a Cause Director Nicholas Ray was lucky to have a talented composer create an original score for Rebel Without A Cause. Leonard Rosenman was born in 1924 and studied music in New York and Europe. His work as a film composer and arranger is very traditional, and has been regarded by some music critics as insignificant. However, Rosenman received Academy Awards and Oscar nominations for his work. Along with film scores, Rosenman wrote theme music and scores for numerous television shows. The score in Rebel Without A Cause is much like another film starring James Dean, East of Eden. The sounds and music in this film are very realistic, and to the point. There is not anything abstract or out of place, and everything is very appropriate. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a conversation begins, music also begins in the background, yet quickly changes when the gang wants trouble. The music becomes fast, louder, and more suspenseful. The style of mickeymousing, type of score [that] uses music as a literal equivalent to the image (Giannetti, 231), was also used in this same scene. Jim and the character of Buzz are fighting each other with knives, and at every jab of the knife the music changes and becomes more dramatic and even more suspenseful. It is said that, music can serve as a kind of overture to suggest the mood or spirit of the film as a whole (Giannetti, 233). Later on, James Dean s character is asking his father for advice, and the music becomes quiet, slow and mysterious. Another scene where the score plays a vital role in the atmosphere is during an argument with Jim and his parents. Jim and his father are yelling, and when Jim grabs his father as if to hit him, the music turns scary and very intense. Along with background music, sound effects play more of a role on the way we feel than many moviegoers think, and although the function of sound effects is primarily atmospheric, they can also be precise sources of meaning in film (Giannetti, 225). • 20. Differences Between The Colonies Of New England And The... The differences between the colonies of New England and the southern region were stark. First, the settlers who immigrated to the new world had different reasons for doing so. South Carolina was established as a buffer zone between other English colonies and the Spanish colonies in Florida. Georgia was founded for an even more interesting reason. In England, there were many social problems including lewdness, drunkenness, and various sexual sins. Also, those in the upper class who found themselves unable to pay back their loans were sent to debtor s prisons. Georgia was intended to be a place for those people to get a new start, however, most of the colonists who ended up there were poor farmers. On the other hand, the colonies of New England were set up primarily for religious reasons. Although there were some that sought profit in New England, most settlers sought liberty and freedom of worship. English separatists, who vehemently disagreed with the way the Church of England was set up, left Holland and came to America on the Mayflower. They landed in modern Massachusetts and established the Plymouth Colony. Rhode Island was also founded on a religious basis after Roger Williams and his fellow dissenters were exiled from Massachusetts. It became a haven for Quakers, Jews, Baptists and members of other minority religions. A second difference in the colonies of the southern region and of New England comes in the basis of their economies. South Carolina was focusing on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What Is The Rising Tide Of Nationalism In Trade Responding to the Rising Tide of Nationalism in Trade: Evolving the Nation s Role to Make Trade Great Again 21119851 University of Western Australia I INTRODUCTION A resurgence of rising nationalism in recent years has prompted a slew of trade protectionist policies defending against the perceived threat to national sovereignty by trade globalisation. This implementation of nationalist trade protectionism has in solitude served to corrode the openness, trade, and global growth which vitally fuel the national interests which these ideologies seek to defend. While ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a matter of practice, nationalism frequently entails the implementation of policy which seeks to reclaim national resources from foreign groups, and redistribute those resources to the nation s citizens or government. This may be achieved through trade protectionism practices: where governments intentionally safeguard domestic industry from foreign competition, usually through policy regulation including tariffs or import quotas. By contrast, globalisation prioritises the exchange of goods and services, the interaction of people, and the sharing of information and technology across nations as enabled through domestic policy and international agreement. The prosperity of any nation is therefore intertwined with the prosperity of others, creating an environment of the shared pursuit of national interest, which fosters the sharing of success between nations through communal global growth. B Modern Resurgence of Nationalism The WTO has warned that the recent global increase in nationalism may threaten the global economy more than any time in recent history, stating that as long as global economic weakness persists, protectionist pressure will build and could eventually become overwhelming . As economic stagnation continues, both dominant and emerging economies are now implementing policy designed to safeguard against the employment losses, high ratio of capital outflow, and foreign exploitation which threaten to undermine their national economic interests. ...
