Recovery Persuasive Speech
It may seem like everyone and their uncle s mother has an iPhone or iPad, but for the most part, they
are objects of luxury. It s easy to forget the powerful technology that fits inside these little boxes and
we often treat it like something of lesser value. Because of that, it s common to lose track of them. It s
ok to be in denial of your shortcomings. A new device will help you get back on track in five simple
steps.
1. ADMIT YOU RE TIRED OF LOSING YOUR IPAD AND IPHONE
Admit it, you ve lost your iPad and iPhone before. Perhaps it was just once for a few seconds or
maybe it was for months. Either way, you re tired of the whole operation. The first step to recovery is
admitting your wrong, so admit it and move on to the next step.

Hallucination In Macbeth
Shakespeare s classic play Macbeth has been presented to various audiences in a various amount of
ways. Plot may be changed minutely, setting could vary, and different themes could predominate. In
Great Performances: Macbeth , Rupert Goold the director presents the original Macbeth in a unique
yet accurate way. Goold instills his own directorial taste in this production, while maintaining
Shakespeare s playwright intentions throughout the story through setting, mood, and characterization.
In Macbeth, and like in any other story, there is conflict within the roots of the story. In this case,
Macbeth is is fighting a physiological battle with himself. This film accurately conveys this battle that
Macbeth is having with himself quite vividly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Perhaps the predominant scene where hallucinations are present is in Act III Scene IV where the ghost
is present to the point where Macbeth thinks that Banquo is standing right in front of him after
Macbeth had just had Banquo executed on orders, Avaunt! and quit my sight! let the earth hide thee! /
Thy bones are marrowless, thy blood is cold; / Thou hast no speculation in those eyes / Which thou
dost glare with! (Act III Scene IV Lines 92 95). One might think that Rupert Goold would not
incorporate this type of scene into his modernized version, but he realizes the importance of the theme
of Hallucination and instills this scene into his movie which becomes known as one of the most well
known scenes to come out of that movie. The fact that Rupert Goold kept this important theme to his
version, shows the importance of every single one of Shakespeare s themes that he intended to come
out of Macbeth. Each one of the main themes that come out of Macbeth were picked out for a reason
and Rupert Goold understands the importance of these themes

The Myth Of Co-Sex Marriage In Andrew Sullivan s For Gay...
In the article, For Gay Marriage, author Andrew Sullivan claims that without the right to marry that
heterosexuals possess, homosexuals are denied equality. Sullivan argues that withholding this right
will not prevent homosexual relationships; instead, it would be a measure simply to restrict the same
right heterosexuals enjoy. Not allowing these homosexual couples to marry and prove their love to
each other would prevent gay adolescents from having role models in which they can learn how a
committed homosexual relationship could be. In the article, The Myth of Co Parenting: How It Was
Supposed to Be. How It Was., author Hope Edelman exhumes that marriage is not equal, and that
women are naive to believe that it is. She also examines the faults in heterosexual marriage and how
they are blighted by falsehoods and poor relationships between parents and their children. Though
they defend two different groups of people, Sullivan and Edelman would most likely agree with one
another on the redefinitions of marriage, the need to combat society s marital expectations, and the
negative effects marriage currently has on children. Through their articles, Andrew Sullivan and Hope
Edelman give their definitions of marriage. Sullivan offers an ideology from the contemporary West
that . . . marriage has become a way in which the state recognizes an emotional commitment by two
people to each other for life (Sullivan 30), where homosexuals are entitled to the right of equality. He

A Brief Discussion on the Death Penalty
The death penalty has been an ongoing debate for a long period of time. There are many Americans
who are for the death penalty and it seems just as many against it. Most do not believe that this
country will ever come to an agreement on the subject. It is best that the government allows each state
to decide how it will handle its criminals. In recent news, in the state of Oklahoma Clayton Lockett s
botched execution created a nationwide revisiting of the death penalty. Politicians are now suggesting
that a firing squad replace lethal injections. He died a massive heart attack it took 40 minutes to die.
He was charge with raped first degree and murder and kidnapping and robbery in 1999. In 1999 he
was kidnapped beat and shot a girl name Stephanie Neiman while she still alive. An 1999 he was in a

Benefits Of Being Active Older Adults
A. Watt (personal communication, August, 7, 2015) commented that out of all the members at the gym
she works at, only 7% of them fit into older population category. Based on this statement, I think the
amount of physically active older adults needs to increase dramatically. It is important to promote and
support physical activity for the older population try and raise the amount of physically active older
adults. Physical activity is defined as any bodily movement produced by skeletal muscles that require
energy expenditure . (World Health Organisation, 2015, para. 1). I believe it is important for the older
population to be physically active because there are so many benefits which come from it. Some of the
many benefits include reduced risk of getting diseases, prevention of obesity, better quality of life,
reduced muscle shrinkage, increased energy and improved moods. (Berger, Cardina, Tobar Zi, 2015,
p. 43). The benefits which I believe are most beneficial to the older population are having reduced
disease risk, a better quality of life and improved mood. Supporting and encouraging the older
population to participate in physical activity is crucial, especially since starting becoming active and
doing something you have never done before can be off putting and make you think twice before
taking part. I believe the 3 most important steps that need to be taken in order to support and promote
physical activity are informing the older adults on the exercise benefits,

Govinda s Journey Of Siddhartha
People never stop learning. Many people believe that once they leave school they are done learning;
that is far from the truth. Siddhartha is a prime example. Around 625 B.C., a young man named
Siddhartha set off on a journey to find himself. His journey led him through the spiritual world and
then the material world, and eventually both; there he finds the path needed to reach enlightenment.
Throughout his journey Siddhartha had three main teachers; Govinda, who taught him the balance
between people and the self, Kamala, who taught him the art of love, and Vasudeva, who taught him
the importance of listening, together the three of them helped Siddhartha reach enlightenment. A
friend from childhood, Govinda, is Siddhartha s first teacher on the road to enlightenment. While still
a Samana, Govinda and Siddhartha are begging for food in the village when Siddhartha says, Well,
Govinda, are we on the right road? Are we gaining knowledge? Are we approaching Salvation? Or are
we perhaps going in circles we who thought to escape from the cycle. Govinda said: We have learned
much, Siddhartha. There still remains much to learn. We are not going in circles, we are going
upwards. The path is a spiral; we have already climbed many steps (Hesse 17 18). He is teaching
Siddhartha that although it doesn t feel like anything is changing or anything is different, he is getting
somewhere but it is a slow and tedious process. Govinda shows up in Siddhartha s life again, at the
very end,

Commercial Roofing Vs. Residential Roof Work
Commercial roofing isn t very different from residential roof work. The commercial types may have
less style, but structurally, both require equal attention. The architecture of residential roofs is based
more on design. Commercial roof work requires more attention to the materials that will last longer,
provide more ventilation and protect vital equipment and costly material. Commercial roofing
includes coverings of garages, storage facilities or small manufacturing units. Shops have roofs much
like the residential ones, maybe even more eye catching. This is because though shops are commercial
units, everything about them needs to be glamorous. To elaborate what specifics of commercial
roofing is about; let us take for example a small bakery.

The Headless Horseman
On this humid and dusky night, with the trees whistling in the wind, the village of Sleepy Hollow
stood still. The silence of the town would consistently be interrupted by the loud echoes of disturbing
crows. The stillness invites the evils that lurk at night. Sitting atop a magnificent and graceful, yet
demanding creature, lied a beautifully built soldier. However, this soldier carried a sinister aura around
him and, with a closer look, it appeared that he carried a strange replacement for his missing head and
that is what he lurked about this town for. Once nightfall hit, the haunting of The Headless Horseman
began. Willing to kill anyone in his way, he stopped at nothing to complete his task. The rise of the
sun was his one and only opponent.

Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy For Advanced Chronic...
Proposal Title: Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy in Advanced Chronic Kidney Disease: Impact on
Patient Centered Outcomes Background In the United States, over 5 million patients have heart failure
(HF) and approximately 20 million patients have chronic kidney disease (CKD). Both conditions are
linked by multiple risk factors including obesity, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, tobacco abuse, and
increasing age. The presence of HF increases the risk of CKD and vice versa. Nearly one third of all
patients with HF and 70% of Medicare patients with HF have Stage III CKD or greater and
approximately 50% of dialysis dependent end stage renal disease (ESRD) patients will develop HF.
Patients with medication refractory HF and CKD and their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) emerged as an important treatment for HF patients with
systolic dysfunction and a prolonged QRS duration. Although findings from landmark trials have led
to widespread use of CRT in many patient cohorts, there has been considerable controversy
surrounding its use in patients with advanced CKD because these patients are poorly represented in
these trials. The few published studies exploring the use of CRT in advanced CKD have shown
modest reduction in HF hospitalization or death, but those studies have been limited by their small
size, retrospective nature, and lack of data on patient centered outcomes (e.g. functional status and
quality of life). The lack of data regarding how CRT impacts outcomes among patients with advanced
CKD is a major problem especially in light of the results of an unpublished analysis of the National
Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR) Implantable Cadioverter Defibrillator (ICD) Database (which
captures data on most patients who receive a CRT D device in the United States) demonstrating that
37% of patients receiving a CRT device had advanced CKD (defined as CKD Stage III V). There are
no prospective studies that have evaluated, or are in the process of evaluating, CRT in patients with
advanced CKD. This issue is further compounded by the potentially higher risk of procedural
complications in such patients. Physicians

Essay on Valkyrie – A Film Review
A fanatically hysteric romantic with a brutal will, this is how Karl Alexander von Muller, described
the personality of Adolf Hitler. Throughout Hitler s reign, people close to him had the same outlook
towards him, like von Muller, and many officers and generals plotted to kill the dictator. The plot that
came closest to succeeding was Project Valkyrie, which was the subject of the 2010 film Valkyrie .
The film incorporated many aspects that are historically accurate, despite a number of minor historical
flaws. However, there are some instances where poor concepts are shown in the film as well. The
historical accuracy of the film can be demonstrated by showing its plot, setting and characters. A
significant strength Valkyrie has in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both in the movie and in history, the conspirators planned to use this document after killing Hitler to
manipulate the Reserve Army into removing the power of the SS, Gestapo, and SD on the basis that
these three groups were attempting to seize power. (http://www.valkyrie plot.com/1942.html) In
addition, the elements that ultimately lead to an unsuccessful assassination attempt of Hitler are
mostly all followed exceptionally. For example, the director expertly conveyed the hesitation and lack
of cohesion between people involved in the plan to kill Hitler. The hesitation of General Olbricht and
change of heart by General Fromm severely crippled Project Valkyrie. On one hand, Olbricht was very
stubborn and reluctant to put the plan into effect because he did not have absolute confirmation that
Hitler was killed by the blast at the Wolf s Lair. On the other hand, Fromm vehemently rejects their
plan when it is put into effect and forced Colonel Claus Von Stauffenberg to arrest him in order to
advance in Project Valkyrie. These two events resulted in a major setback both in the film and during
the past event in history. However, he did have minor plot omissions about how the plan to kill Hitler
went wrong as well. Mainly the events that resulted in Hitler switching meeting places slightly
diverted from the path of history. In history, the meeting place was switched to a more open
conference

Texting While Driving And Driving
No matter how much effort state governments try to make to avoid people texting while driving, only
so much can be done on the government s and law enforcement s side of the matter. Different states
have different rules. Some outlaw texting while driving when under the age of 21 or 18. Other states
have hand held bans on cell phones while some states have an all phone ban. Law enforcement
officers who regulate and enforce traffic matters have to catch the person in the act of texting while
driving. Catching a person in the act is not an easy task to accomplish as an officer of the law. Even a
consistent and national law against texting while driving would plausibly not solve the calamities. I
think the true issue of driving and texting is contingent with the drivers. Drivers should take heed to
statistics, priorities, and lives involved regarding the issue of texting and driving. Many statistics can
prove how texting while driving is a serious problem, and a majority of the drivers do not realize the
risks. Other drivers know the dangers and risks of texting while driving, but do not have the
appearance of caring. Although the amount of casualties resulting from texting while driving has
decreased considerably, there is still a shocking number of deaths and casualties from this issue. The
number of casualties and deaths from texting while driving have surpassed the number of drunk
driving incidents. Drunk driving deaths a year amount to about 2,700 lives while driving and

Discussion of the Settings in the Great Gatsby by F. Scott...
A Discussion of the Three Major Setting in The Great Gatsby
Setting is an integral part of a novelist s or playwright s ability to communicate characters ideals and
attitudes. One of the greatest American authors, Francis Scott Fitzgerald also employs these essential
strategies when describing the three main setting of The Great Gatsby: West Egg, East Egg, and the
Valley of the Ashes. Fitzgerald relates West Egg with the less fashionable side of Long Island and new
money , relates East Egg to the fashionable side of Long Island and old money , and relates the Valley
of Ashes to a desolate wasteland that represents the crumbling of the American Dream and the
destruction caused by modern society. West Egg promotes ideals of individuality and illegality and
creates an atmosphere of lavish spending; however, East Egg gives rise to ideals of upper class society
fueling attitudes of condescension towards lower classes of people including West Egg, while the
Valley of Ashes is the manifestation of the desolate wasteland surrounding a city that represents the
withering of the American Dream.
In The Great Gatsby, the first setting we are introduced to is West Egg. West Egg is described in the
book as a place where the lower and middle class who have found themselves outrageous amounts of
money reside. As an immediate consequence to this, they spend lavishly on extravagant desires of
theirs. This is exemplified when Fitzgerald writes, From West Egg came the Poles and the

The Fast Film Analysis
THE GUEST is a new movie from the creaters who brought us YOU RE NEXT an unconventional
home invasion movie. As I have already said, I think YOU RE NEXT was an okay and entertaining
horror/home invasion movie that was way over hyped by people. I was very sceptical and wasn t in an
anticipation before watching the movie. Unlike YOU RE NEXT I had an extreme blast with this film!
This film is increadibly awesome and good.
The story is very different and unoriginal. Notably, we have seen this concept there and there, but it
has a refresh of that storytelling stand point with a good flow of dialogue. The dialogue is not hugly
difficult or confusing for normal audiences. It is very normal and easy to understand. As the film and
the story progresses, there are layers to peal off and discover the secrets and the mysterious of our
protagonist that is also refered to as the antagonist of the film. A somewhat familiar concept with a
refresh of the cliche ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To begin, when you have seen YOU RE NEXT, the visuals are very bloody and dark. Consistently, the
film is bloody involving some bloody violence. However, the color scheme of this film is excellent. To
evaluate, the creators did a great work with using different color and blending them together with not a
crack. The colors are beautiful to look at and the overall visuals are vivid.
The direction of this film is rather better compared to Adam WIngard s previous work YOU RE
NEXT. He s direction to this film is excellent. Underlying, the action sequences in this film, is shot
very steady with no shaky or hand held technique. Also, a very good use of location. However, the
way certain frame shots are filmed and the soundtrack of this film, we get a similar approach to the
80s action and 80s horror. Cleary, he definetely has a huge appreciation to 80s horror and action, as he
molds these types of genres and feels into the film. How comprehensive and refreshing is

dictionary, but firstly the focus is on visual representation. Different changes in the images can be
categorized as well. Based on the personal exploration, I have come to list the following categories: 1.
Gender roles (family roles, occupational stereotypes) 2. Representation of different ethnic groups 3.
Religious references 4. Political reference To start with gender roles I would like to explain a little
more what results the research come up with. Firstly, the typical gender roles in the 1963 edition were
the old , conservative stereotyping of sexes. Probably the most striking example for this can be found
in the kitchen of the rabbit house . In the 1963 edition it is only mother rabbit that is standing at the
stove in the kitchen, stating the stereotypical role of a woman, to do the housework. However, in the
1991 edition the image had been revised. It is not only the household equipment that has been

The role of an economy is to effectively make use of a countries resources, thus increasing economic
performance. If economic performance of a country was at a maximum, then the country would have
substantial wealth and therefore purchasing power, which would be available to spend on allocated
departments including: health, infrastructure and military, to name a few. A countries wealth gives an
indication of its living standards, with an increase in wealth it is probable that the living standards will
also increase simultaneously. Although the entirety of the concept of improving living standards is not

Everyone was watching for one cowboy in particular, a cowboy rumored to be the best in the whole

high level of danger due to the kicking of the horses and the chaos. Carl did not care. He was a true

The Mysterious Death Of Mary Rogers And The Market Revolution
The Mysterious Death of Mary Rogers and the Market Revolution The Mysterious Death of Mary
Rogers, written by Amy Gilman Srebnick is about the unsolved mystery of Mary Rogers. Mary
Rogers worked at a broadway tobacco shop. She was called cigar girl. In the 1840 s it was very
shameful for a young lady like Mary Roger to work at a cigar shop because but in a way she made the
shop well known. She also managed her mother s boarding house at 126 Nassau Street. Mary was the
youngest child. She was young, unmarried, and beautiful. Mary also had a lover, Daniel Payne. Mary
Rogers was only 20 when she went missing. On July 28, 1841 Mary Rogers body was discovered
floating near the shore of the hudson river with visible signs of violence. A report by two jurors
indicated that Mary had been gagged, tied, raped by several men, and finally strangled (Srebnick 18).
Dr.Cook confirmed that Mary had not drowned, frothy blood was still issuing from her mouth and her
face was suffused with dark, bruised blood and had swollen veins (Srebnick 18). Once her body was
found there were many theories as to how she died. The New Jersey coroner determined strangulation.
The New York coroner determined she drowned. Another witness confessed while on her deathbed
that it was due to an abortion. Mary Rogers death is still a mystery today. Payne was a prime suspect,
being that he was her lover. Several weeks after Mary s death, on Friday October 8, 1841, Payne was

How I Went from Aching Loneliness to Blissful Solitude
It was an aching solitude. I sat in silence, ensnared within my chaotic mind while everyone s elated
voices stretched across the classroom like a contagious disease but my immunity was too study to
catch a speck of it. I was never a big fan of change, especially ones that strike you without any
warning. The transition from elementary to junior high wasn t the challenging part for me, it was the
fact that I felt alone. It never occurred to me that everything was temporary, even friendships. Initially,
going into seventh grade was absolutely petrifying, nearly all my friends was in a different T.A., while
in the other hand, I was placed in a class filled with unfamiliar faces. Everyone appeared to be
recognizable to each other, I felt as if I was an outcast, just a girl at the back of the classroom. At that
time, the most bothersome traits about me was that I was shy, reticent, and anxious. I swore there must
have been something wrong with me, how hard could it be to approach another student and simply
talk or just plainly introduce myself. Although, I attempted to be as optimistic as I possibly could, I
would still be able to be with my friends at lunch, afterschool, or parties. Another part of me that was
incommodious was that I clung onto my friends, they truthfully were extremely supportive and
entertaining people to be around, I cherished each and every one of the our memories together but
sadly, we gradually drifted apart. Instantaneously, even on the first

The British maritime policy was influenced by it s jealousy of America s commercial growth. Even
though both France and Britain violated the United States neutral rights on the seas, the United States
resented Britain maritime policies more because they dominated the seas. The U.S. tried to peacefully
change the policies of the European powers. There would not be a British maritime policy if it had not
been for the war with France. The policy was intended to destroy Frances economy.
During the Napoleonic Wars the Royal Navy expanded to 175 ships of the line and 600 ships overall,
requiring 140,000 sailors. The Royal Navy turned to impressments when it didn t have enough able
bodies to man the ships. The Royal Navy went after Royal Navy Veterans or deserters who had left
and became sailors in the United States merchant navy by intercepting and searching U.S merchant
ships. Britain also considered any U.S. citizen born in British liable for impressments. The inability to
distinguish Americans from non Americans due to a wide spread of use of false identity led to frequent
impressments of Americans that had never been British. This became a major grievance.
The United States attempted to change the European policies by the Embargo Act of 1807, after the
Chesapeake affair of 1807. The Embargo Act banned all American ships from foreign trade.

Jury Duty Essay
Serving on a jury is a civic duty and an American tradition. However, some people view jury duty as a
chore or as an event that negatively interrupts their lives. Some independent studies have shown that
even jury duty has a devastating effect on married life. Due to this and other extraneous situations,
there are only a few people who actually want to serve on a jury. This may lead to efforts by potential
jurors to, in some way get out of their duty in a jury. What we know of as the current jury duty system
should be changed so citizens are not forced to serve in this capacity and can still be regarded as a
responsible civilian. As per the status quo, a trial jury is a constitutional right, a jury of ones peers or

knowledge of the law. It can take only one partial, and unfair person to change the whole outcome of
the verdict.
Today, jurors sometimes leave courtrooms in tears after convicting people they believed were morally
(if not legally) innocent, or after witnessing the harsh sentences handed down by judges at the
sentencing phase of seemingly minor cases. That is exactly the sort of travesty trial by jury was
intended to prevent. If the law were just and justly applied, jurors would have no reason to regret their
verdicts, or the sentences that are meted out later by judges. (Trial by Jury Website) This would
seemingly encourage the American judicial system to adapt the jury system to meet the needs of our
current American society. It is unpleasant for the jurors to make very hard choices concerning the lives
of other fellow citizens. It is also hard for the persons who are standing trial to know that their fate is
going to rest with people with little or no knowledge of the law.
The jury causes a great waste of time. It has been pointed out that a trial by jury usually requires two
to three times the amount of time

The Advantages Of Asexual And Sexual Devices
Both asexual and sexual reproduction results in offspring with [think of good topic sentence. . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . . . . .]. Asexual reproduction results in offspring with identical genetic information, and
sexual reproduction results in offspring with genetic variation.
Asexual reproduction is a type of reproduction that creates uniform offspring. Asexual reproduction
occurs mainly in single celled organisms (organisms with one cell), and in a few multicellular
organisms (an organism with more than one cell). Two examples of single celled organisms are
bacteria and amoeba. Bacteria is a single celled organism forming one of the three domains of life.
Amoeba is a single celled animal that catches food and moves about by extending fingerlike
projections of protoplasm. Asexual reproduction requires one parent, and the ... Show more content on

One advantage of sexual reproduction is that it creates offspring with a high genetic variability. This
will increase the diversity of species and the ecosystem since the offspring is diverse. For example,
female lions give birth to about one to five cubs, and all the cubs are genetically different. This will
increase the diversity of lions. Whereas asexual reproduction produces offspring that has the same
genetics as its parent, which lowers the diversity rate of organisms. Another advantage of sexual
reproduction is better agriculture. This is because selective breeding can apply to sexually produced
organisms. Selective breeding when parent organisms are chosen to mate, which produces more
desirable and better plants and animals. An example of selective breeding is corn. Corn used to be
much smaller, and had fewer rows of kernels, however, farmers saved kernels from good plants and
planted them to create more desirable plants like corn, leading better agriculture. Asexual organisms
don t reproduce sexually, so they can t go through selective

Money As Defined In The Textbook Is An Asset That Is...
Money as defined in the textbook is an asset that is generally accepted as payment for goods and
services or repayment of debt, acts as s unit of account, and serves as a store of value. Money was
originally any physical substance that was desired by others, such as gold, silver, or even cattle. Today
when someone mentions money you think of bills or coins, debit card and credit card. However, for
the purpose of economics, money actually has three distinct uses, some of which are not adequately
covered in the above definition. These uses are: means of payment, a unit of account, and a store of
value. Means of payment is the characteristic of money that allows it to be used for purchasing, units

Future value is the present value of an initial investment times one plus the interest rate for each year
you hold it. The higher the interest rate, the higher the future value will be. Present value is equal to
the value of today of a payment made on a future date. Meaning the higher the payment, the higher the
present value at a given interest rate. The higher the interest rate, the lower the present value of a
given payment. The longer the time until the payment is made, the lower the present value of a give
payment at a give interest rate. For a given increase in the interest rate, the present value of a promised
payment is to be made must be measured in the same time units. Financial markets perform the

Cochlear Implants In Children
In today s society there is an ongoing debate of weather children who are deaf should receive cochlear
implants. A cochlear implant is a device that takes sound wave and changes the waves into electrical
activity for the brain to interpret. Wire called electrodes are surgically implanted into the cochlear
nerve which receives a signal from the microphone attached to the transmitter and speech processor.
The microphone captures the sound from the environment and the speech processor filters the noise
versus speech. Then the transmitter sends an electrical signal through the electrodes to stimulate the
cochlear nerve. Every person has a different thought depending on their experiences in their life
whether deaf children should receive cochlear ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Studies have shown that if a child receives a cochlear implant before the child is 18 months old
followed by intensive therapy the child is likely to develop language skills that are comparable to their
peers and many children are able to attend mainstream schooling. This sounds great to parents, but
what happens when the cochlear implant doesn t work or if the child doesn t receive the necessary
therapy for understanding sound using the cochlear implant. Because the children were not exposed to
American sign language (ASL) this can delay the children education and learning compared to their
peers. When children are born to hearing parents they want the child to be like them and be able to
hear. To the hearing, deafness is a disability and if there is a way that they can make their child hear,
most parents will do everything in their power to make sure they can give that to their child. Then
again, many parents forget is that living with a cochlear implant is a lifelong process and involves
years to decades of therapy for their child. And if a child receives the implant later than 18 months old
it becomes harder for the child to understand speech from a cochlear implant and more intensive
therapy for the child. Children start learning language from their parents listening to them talk to
others and talk to the baby. If the child is deaf, they are missing this important development of speech,
which makes it harder for the child to learn to speak and understanding language. Also, most hearing
parents don t know ASL or sign fluently to be able to teach their children the language and help them
to start learning and be able to communicate with society. Today there are still parents that will not
learn ASL even though their child is deaf or maybe they received a cochlear implant and it didn t

Personal Horror In Stephen King s Carrie, Cujo And It

King s Personal Horror
Stephen King experienced a hard early life. With his father leaving his family, living paycheck to
paycheck, and living in the small town of Durham, Maine, pushed him to into the world of writing to
escape his tough life. As a child, he witnessed his friend get struck and killed by a train, and although
he has no recollection of this event, his mother, Nellie Ruth said that, He returned speechless and in a
state of shock. It is for these and the reasons I am about to tell you that Stephen King s Carrie, Cujo,
and It, are all influenced by his personal experiences. King s Carrie is perhaps one of his best books,
and for sure one of his most important ones, as it enabled him to write full time. Carrie has all the raw
energy of a writer just trying to make it through. This first point that came to me when I looked at
Carrie is the strong feminist position it has, this is strange for King, but for a writer of his class, and
for one of his first books, this can show you what is to come. Carrie s mother acts as the masculine
force pulling women down, and Carrie herself symbolizes the feminist movement in itself (Lusted 28).
The best way to create a stories characters is to build them off of something or someone you know in
your life. King based Carrie not only off the feminist movement, but a girl he knew in high school. In
his autobiography, On Writing, King talks about Dodie, a girl in high school that

some entity to identify their goods and distinguish them from those manufactured or sold by others

Erica Riemann s Analysis
Historians constantly discuss the establishment of communism in Eastern Europe following World
War II, a major topic being the Soviet Union s occupation of The German Democratic Republic
(GDR). The governing of the GDR by the Socialist Unity Party (SED) is frequently analysed,
particularly operations against any perceived resistance to the stability of a socialist state. Erica
Riemann was one perceived enemy, serving over eight years as a political prisoner after drawing a

experiences nearly fifty years later (Molloy 2009). This essay argues that the main value of Riemann s

Soviet officials prioritised the establishment of Communist Hegemony in the GDR (Bruce 2003, p. 6)
and therefore allocated vast resources to controlling threats (Bruce 2003, p. 14). The end of World War
II saw eleven internment camps established, intended for Nazis and those against communism (Bruce
2003, p. 6), and from 1945 to 1954, Erica Riemann found herself interned in a number of them
(Molloy 2009, p. 65). We may be aware of GDR paranoia resulting in prosecution of imagined crimes
(Bessel 2011, p. 154), but it is through individual stories that the reality of this comes across. The fact
that a schoolgirl was interrogated, assaulted and sleep deprived for hours in a dungeon for taking
lipstick to a picture of Stalin (Molloy 2009, p. 66) reveals the absurdity and extent of the cruelty that
the SED went to. The details of long nightly interrogations and starvation help us understand how a
normal teenager ended up confessing to being part of Nazi resistance (Molloy 2009, p. 66). It is
through examples of people being mocked, raped, starved, assaulted, threatened and killed that we can
begin to imagine the experiences of prisoners. Recounts of Erica s attempted suicide and the inability
to hold relationships (Molloy 2009, p. 73) create a deeper understanding of the

Music has always been seen as a way of entertainment. Throughout many eras musicians have kept
their ways to their traditions. From instrumentation to the composition itself. Throughout the ages,
music has mostly been a set in stone factor. But since the 20th century things have begun to change.
Musicians are breaking away from the traditions of the past and reaching new areas of music.

With his developments, the music world has heard a new sound. One of his major creations in music is
in fact a wire recorder. This machine may not seem like much but it has been able record then
playback music in your own home without the instruments themselves. This has truly become a great
breakthrough instead of needing a musician in the household to keep smaller gatherings entertained.
Now they can be entertained with only themselves. As said by brindle: (One of the first electronic
music compositions John Cage s Imaginary Landscape No. 1 (1939) had oscillator frequencies
recorded on two 78 r.p.m. gramophone records, but normally such a system was too expensive and
inflexible to be practicable.) It took a world war to produce what was almost the right instrument the
wire recorder which was later replaced by the tape recorder, so manipulated, made permanent, or
discarded, with incredible ease and at negligible cost. Once the tape recorder was perfected (about
1950), and its potentialities fully realized, other electronic sound equipment (either already existing or
suitably modified) could be assembled to form the first electronic music studio (99, Brindle). This
development of the Wire recorder has lead to such great historical developments. From the wire
recorder lead to the tape recorder and soon music was able to be taken anywhere anyone wished it to
be. The development of the wire recorder was originally made by John Cage

Of course that only seems possible if people look to God and not man, despite the condition of their

David discovered his unique identity as one who God loved, and not only that, but he confidently
proclaimed his identity as God s wonderful work. What people must consider is that his family life,
friend life, and love life was not a cake walk. Actually, he encountered major hits and these hits
attempted to teach him an alternative narrative, or label him as something different from what God
said he was. He could have easily believed that he was an outcast or a problem, and therefore, he was
not worth love. Saul, his main persecutor, is an example of a relationship that communicated those
things to him. However, instead he chose to find his identity in God. He overcame by the power of

humankind and how we can overcome incredible circumstances like impoverished upbringings,
dysfunctional home lives, and poor genes, especially when we believe we are unique and beloved by

Social Construction Theory Of The National Football League
Recently, an increasing number of African American football players have been leaving their
respective colleges with years of eligibility left, to pursue a dream of playing in the National Football
League. This year alone, 101 athletes will be forgoing their remaining years of college eligibility to
enter the NFL draft. Thus representing a staggering increase from the 40 early entrants in 2007
(Heitner). This decision seems deceptive, in that it appears explicitly based on utility maximization
and the traditional economic theory of Becker and Stigler. That model does provide an adequate
explanation based on set universal preferences with efficiency determining the price of commodities.
However, I believe that it is more accurately modeled as a function of a socially constructed
framework of choice. Berger and Luckmann s social construction theory presents the opportunity to
understand more fully the background of these athletes that shapes their decision making process. In
my analysis, utility maximization is embedded within this social construction framework. Given this,
not only can we understand the conventional economic reasons for this decision, but also the
socialization that shaped the individuals to that point. I will demonstrate that the choices of these
athletes can be analyzed by taking into account how each person s preferences and efficiency is
molded by their socialization. To prove the value of my approach, I examine cases chronologically,

Considerations for the Design and Fabrication of a Boat...
Introduction As nations continue to expend their energies into expanding infrastructure, developing

Key infrastructure and everyday items are constantly under attack from a natural phenomenon known

Liberal Humanistic Critique of Gladiator Essay
Ridley Scott s epic film, Gladiator, won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture in 2000. Scott s
film, details the fall and rise of the great Roman General, Maximus Decimus Meridius. The Roman
Emperor, Marcus Aurelius, tells Maximus that he wishes that he become his successor, instead of his
son, Commodus. Angry, Commodus, murders his own father, thus becoming the emperor, and
sentences Maximus and his family to death. He escapes, but the Emperor s men murder his family and
burn his home. Slave traders, then capture him, and sell him into slavery. Maximus swears revenge,
and must fight for his murdered family, and destroyed life. A liberal humanistic critique reveals that

His fall and rise, shows exactly what he believes, and reveals his quest for freedom. Throughout the
film, Maximus wants nothing but revenge for his family and his eventual freedom. The film contians
this theme within the scenes themselves, making background information unneeded.
Scott s film presents the overall purpose of he enhancement of life. Maximus, plays the role of the
hero, who rises, and takes his revenge. Although Maximus kills many people, he does so righteously,
trying desperately to avenge his murdered family, and gain his freedom again. Not once does maximus
kill innocent people, or take the lives of those who did him no wrong. He only wants vengeance, on
those who betrayed and wronged him; those who made him a slave, and murdered his family. At one
point, Maximus screams to the crowd, are you not entertained, mocking their vile cheering, and death
chants. The people however do not take notice of his mocking tone, only cheering louder. Maximus
never betrays his fellow soldiers, or harms innocent people. He only kills the people who block him
from his freedom and revenge. Maximus bravery and valor, give his men the courage to fight and die,
protecting their beliefs and freedoms. Maximus bravery also gives the Roman people courage,
allowing them to oppose the corrupt Emperor, Commodus. When Maximus reveals himself, and
swears his revenge, the roman people who honor and respect him, are struck with courage.

Origin Of Basketball History Essay
Where did the history of basketball start out and where will it be in the future? These are some of the
many questions that will be talked about during my time writing this essay. Some of the many
questions that will be answered my be controversial to some and interesting for others. There are
many ways I can talk about basketball but in this essay the points I make will come from historical
facts and analysis. This is an essay that will tell you the reader about the origin of basketball and
where it is headed. Basketball is a sport that is played by thirteen players, five starting and the rest on
the bench. One of the five positions is the point guard; he is the ball handler and playmaker for his
team. The second of the five positions is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Basketball has been around since 1891 it has seen a lot of improvements and some flaws, but with its
flaws basketball is a great sport. The game has grown from a sport with just a few teams in the
northeast to a nationwide sport with thirty NBA teams in almost all states and one in Canada.
Basketball has also grown in paying wise, from the original $2.50 for home games and $1.50 for road
game to the now league minimum of $507,336 for players who have not been in the NBA for ten years
to $1,448,490 for those who have been playing for ten years. Basketball also saw in less then 100
years Juwan Howard get offers from the bullets and heat for $100 million for seven years. This was
the biggest offer for a player for at its time. Juwan might have been the most expensive player, but he
was far from a star. The NBA s first star was Walt Chamberlain from UCLA later being joined by
future star Bill Russell from San Francisco University. Walt and Bill would open up the door for future
superstars like Michael Jordan, Irving (magic) Johnson, and Nate Archibald. Players like Michael,
Magic, and Nate would open up the same door for stars we all know today as LeBron James, Russell
Westbrook, and Kobe Bryant. The doors that opened for them will open for future stars of the game
and the people who dream about becoming a superstar. Basketball is starting to become a global trend
with 113 global players being sign to NBA rosters. This many global players can mean

  • 3. Hallucination In Macbeth Shakespeare s classic play Macbeth has been presented to various audiences in a various amount of ways. Plot may be changed minutely, setting could vary, and different themes could predominate. In Great Performances: Macbeth , Rupert Goold the director presents the original Macbeth in a unique yet accurate way. Goold instills his own directorial taste in this production, while maintaining Shakespeare s playwright intentions throughout the story through setting, mood, and characterization. In Macbeth, and like in any other story, there is conflict within the roots of the story. In this case, Macbeth is is fighting a physiological battle with himself. Perhaps the predominant scene where hallucinations are present is in Act III Scene IV where the ghost is present to the point where Macbeth thinks that Banquo is standing right in front of him after Macbeth had just had Banquo executed on orders, Avaunt! and quit my sight! let the earth hide thee! / Thy bones are marrowless, thy blood is cold; / Thou hast no speculation in those eyes / Which thou dost glare with! (Act III Scene IV Lines 92 95). One might think that Rupert Goold would not incorporate this type of scene into his modernized version, but he realizes the importance of the theme of Hallucination and instills this scene into his movie which becomes known as one of the most well known scenes to come out of that movie. The fact that Rupert Goold kept this important theme to his version, shows the importance of every single one of Shakespeare s themes that he intended to come out of Macbeth. • 4. The Myth Of Co-Sex Marriage In Andrew Sullivan s For Gay... In the article, For Gay Marriage, author Andrew Sullivan claims that without the right to marry that heterosexuals possess, homosexuals are denied equality. Sullivan argues that withholding this right will not prevent homosexual relationships; instead, it would be a measure simply to restrict the same right heterosexuals enjoy. Not allowing these homosexual couples to marry and prove their love to each other would prevent gay adolescents from having role models in which they can learn how a committed homosexual relationship could be. In the article, The Myth of Co Parenting: How It Was Supposed to Be. How It Was., author Hope Edelman exhumes that marriage is not equal, and that women are naive to believe that it is. She also examines the faults in heterosexual marriage and how they are blighted by falsehoods and poor relationships between parents and their children. Though they defend two different groups of people, Sullivan and Edelman would most likely agree with one another on the redefinitions of marriage, the need to combat society s marital expectations, and the negative effects marriage currently has on children. Through their articles, Andrew Sullivan and Hope Edelman give their definitions of marriage. Sullivan offers an ideology from the contemporary West that . . . marriage has become a way in which the state recognizes an emotional commitment by two people to each other for life (Sullivan 30), where homosexuals are entitled to the right of equality. Watt (personal communication, August, 7, 2015) commented that out of all the members at the gym she works at, only 7% of them fit into older population category. Based on this statement, I think the amount of physically active older adults needs to increase dramatically. It is important to promote and support physical activity for the older population try and raise the amount of physically active older adults. Physical activity is defined as any bodily movement produced by skeletal muscles that require energy expenditure . (World Health Organisation, 2015, para. 1). I believe it is important for the older population to be physically active because there are so many benefits which come from it. Some of the many benefits include reduced risk of getting diseases, prevention of obesity, better quality of life, reduced muscle shrinkage, increased energy and improved moods. (Berger, Cardina, Tobar Zi, 2015, p. 43). The benefits which I believe are most beneficial to the older population are having reduced disease risk, a better quality of life and improved mood. Supporting and encouraging the older population to participate in physical activity is crucial, especially since starting becoming active and doing something you have never done before can be off putting and make you think twice before taking part. I believe the 3 most important steps that need to be taken in order to support and promote physical activity are informing the older adults on the exercise benefits, ... • 7. Govinda s Journey Of Siddhartha People never stop learning. Many people believe that once they leave school they are done learning; that is far from the truth. Siddhartha is a prime example. Around 625 B.C., a young man named Siddhartha set off on a journey to find himself. His journey led him through the spiritual world and then the material world, and eventually both; there he finds the path needed to reach enlightenment. Throughout his journey Siddhartha had three main teachers; Govinda, who taught him the balance between people and the self, Kamala, who taught him the art of love, and Vasudeva, who taught him the importance of listening, together the three of them helped Siddhartha reach enlightenment. A friend from childhood, Govinda, is Siddhartha s first teacher on the road to enlightenment. While still a Samana, Govinda and Siddhartha are begging for food in the village when Siddhartha says, Well, Govinda, are we on the right road? Are we gaining knowledge? Are we approaching Salvation? Or are we perhaps going in circles we who thought to escape from the cycle. Govinda said: We have learned much, Siddhartha. There still remains much to learn. We are not going in circles, we are going upwards. The path is a spiral; we have already climbed many steps (Hesse 17 18). The commercial types may have less style, but structurally, both require equal attention. The architecture of residential roofs is based more on design. Commercial roofing includes coverings of garages, storage facilities or small manufacturing units. Shops have roofs much like the residential ones, maybe even more eye catching. Proposal Title: Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy in Advanced Chronic Kidney Disease: Impact on Patient Centered Outcomes Background In the United States, over 5 million patients have heart failure (HF) and approximately 20 million patients have chronic kidney disease (CKD). Both conditions are linked by multiple risk factors including obesity, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, tobacco abuse, and increasing age. The presence of HF increases the risk of CKD and vice versa. Nearly one third of all patients with HF and 70% of Medicare patients with HF have Stage III CKD or greater and approximately 50% of dialysis dependent end stage renal disease (ESRD) patients will develop HF. Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) emerged as an important treatment for HF patients with systolic dysfunction and a prolonged QRS duration. Although findings from landmark trials have led to widespread use of CRT in many patient cohorts, there has been considerable controversy surrounding its use in patients with advanced CKD because these patients are poorly represented in these trials. The few published studies exploring the use of CRT in advanced CKD have shown modest reduction in HF hospitalization or death, but those studies have been limited by their small size, retrospective nature, and lack of data on patient centered outcomes (e.g. functional status and quality of life). The lack of data regarding how CRT impacts outcomes among patients with advanced CKD is a major problem especially in light of the results of an unpublished analysis of the National Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR) Implantable Cadioverter Defibrillator (ICD) Database (which captures data on most patients who receive a CRT D device in the United States) demonstrating that 37% of patients receiving a CRT device had advanced CKD (defined as CKD Stage III V). There are no prospective studies that have evaluated, or are in the process of evaluating, CRT in patients with advanced CKD. This issue is further compounded by the potentially higher risk of procedural complications in such patients. Physicians ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For example, the director expertly conveyed the hesitation and lack of cohesion between people involved in the plan to kill Hitler. The hesitation of General Olbricht and change of heart by General Fromm severely crippled Project Valkyrie. On one hand, Olbricht was very stubborn and reluctant to put the plan into effect because he did not have absolute confirmation that Hitler was killed by the blast at the Wolf s Lair. On the other hand, Fromm vehemently rejects their plan when it is put into effect and forced Colonel Claus Von Stauffenberg to arrest him in order to advance in Project Valkyrie. These two events resulted in a major setback both in the film and during the past event in history. However, he did have minor plot omissions about how the plan to kill Hitler went wrong as well. Texting While Driving And Driving No matter how much effort state governments try to make to avoid people texting while driving, only so much can be done on the government s and law enforcement s side of the matter. Different states have different rules. Some outlaw texting while driving when under the age of 21 or 18. Other states have hand held bans on cell phones while some states have an all phone ban. Law enforcement officers who regulate and enforce traffic matters have to catch the person in the act of texting while driving. Catching a person in the act is not an easy task to accomplish as an officer of the law. Even a consistent and national law against texting while driving would plausibly not solve the calamities. I think the true issue of driving and texting is contingent with the drivers. Drivers should take heed to statistics, priorities, and lives involved regarding the issue of texting and driving. Many statistics can prove how texting while driving is a serious problem, and a majority of the drivers do not realize the risks. Other drivers know the dangers and risks of texting while driving, but do not have the appearance of caring. Although the amount of casualties resulting from texting while driving has decreased considerably, there is still a shocking number of deaths and casualties from this issue. The number of casualties and deaths from texting while driving have surpassed the number of drunk driving incidents. Drunk driving deaths a year amount to about 2,700 lives while driving and ... • 13. Discussion of the Settings in the Great Gatsby by F. Scott... A Discussion of the Three Major Setting in The Great Gatsby Setting is an integral part of a novelist s or playwright s ability to communicate characters ideals and attitudes. One of the greatest American authors, Francis Scott Fitzgerald also employs these essential strategies when describing the three main setting of The Great Gatsby: West Egg, East Egg, and the Valley of the Ashes. Fitzgerald relates West Egg with the less fashionable side of Long Island and new money , relates East Egg to the fashionable side of Long Island and old money , and relates the Valley of Ashes to a desolate wasteland that represents the crumbling of the American Dream and the destruction caused by modern society. West Egg promotes ideals of individuality and illegality and creates an atmosphere of lavish spending; however, East Egg gives rise to ideals of upper class society fueling attitudes of condescension towards lower classes of people including West Egg, while the Valley of Ashes is the manifestation of the desolate wasteland surrounding a city that represents the withering of the American Dream. In The Great Gatsby, the first setting we are introduced to is West Egg. West Egg is described in the book as a place where the lower and middle class who have found themselves outrageous amounts of money reside. As an immediate consequence to this, they spend lavishly on extravagant desires of theirs. This is exemplified when Fitzgerald writes, From West Egg came the Poles and the ... Asexual reproduction results in offspring with identical genetic information, and sexual reproduction results in offspring with genetic variation. Asexual reproduction is a type of reproduction that creates uniform offspring. Asexual reproduction occurs mainly in single celled organisms (organisms with one cell), and in a few multicellular organisms (an organism with more than one cell). Two examples of single celled organisms are bacteria and amoeba. Bacteria is a single celled organism forming one of the three domains of life. Amoeba is a single celled animal that catches food and moves about by extending fingerlike projections of protoplasm. Asexual reproduction requires one parent, and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One advantage of sexual reproduction is that it creates offspring with a high genetic variability. This will increase the diversity of species and the ecosystem since the offspring is diverse. For example, female lions give birth to about one to five cubs, and all the cubs are genetically different. This will increase the diversity of lions. Whereas asexual reproduction produces offspring that has the same genetics as its parent, which lowers the diversity rate of organisms. Another advantage of sexual reproduction is better agriculture. This is because selective breeding can apply to sexually produced organisms. Selective breeding when parent organisms are chosen to mate, which produces more desirable and better plants and animals. An example of selective breeding is corn. Corn used to be much smaller, and had fewer rows of kernels, however, farmers saved kernels from good plants and planted them to create more desirable plants like corn, leading better agriculture. Money as defined in the textbook is an asset that is generally accepted as payment for goods and services or repayment of debt, acts as s unit of account, and serves as a store of value. Money was originally any physical substance that was desired by others, such as gold, silver, or even cattle. Today when someone mentions money you think of bills or coins, debit card and credit card. However, for the purpose of economics, money actually has three distinct uses, some of which are not adequately covered in the above definition. • 27. Cochlear Implants In Children In today s society there is an ongoing debate of weather children who are deaf should receive cochlear implants. A cochlear implant is a device that takes sound wave and changes the waves into electrical activity for the brain to interpret. Wire called electrodes are surgically implanted into the cochlear nerve which receives a signal from the microphone attached to the transmitter and speech processor. The microphone captures the sound from the environment and the speech processor filters the noise versus speech. Then the transmitter sends an electrical signal through the electrodes to stimulate the cochlear nerve. Studies have shown that if a child receives a cochlear implant before the child is 18 months old followed by intensive therapy the child is likely to develop language skills that are comparable to their peers and many children are able to attend mainstream schooling. This sounds great to parents, but what happens when the cochlear implant doesn t work or if the child doesn t receive the necessary therapy for understanding sound using the cochlear implant. Because the children were not exposed to American sign language (ASL) this can delay the children education and learning compared to their peers. When children are born to hearing parents they want the child to be like them and be able to hear. To the hearing, deafness is a disability and if there is a way that they can make their child hear, most parents will do everything in their power to make sure they can give that to their child. Then again, many parents forget is that living with a cochlear implant is a lifelong process and involves years to decades of therapy for their child. And if a child receives the implant later than 18 months old it becomes harder for the child to understand speech from a cochlear implant and more intensive therapy for the child. Children start learning language from their parents listening to them talk to others and talk to the baby. If the child is deaf, they are missing this important development of speech, which makes it harder for the child to learn to speak and understanding language. Also, most hearing parents don t know ASL or sign fluently to be able to teach their children the language and help them to start learning and be able to communicate with society. Today there are still parents that will not learn ASL even though their child is deaf or maybe they received a cochlear implant and it didn t work. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

King s Carrie is perhaps one of his best books, and for sure one of his most important ones, as it enabled him to write full time. Carrie has all the raw energy of a writer just trying to make it through. This first point that came to me when I looked at Carrie is the strong feminist position it has, this is strange for King, but for a writer of his class, and for one of his first books, this can show you what is to come. Carrie s mother acts as the masculine force pulling women down, and Carrie herself symbolizes the feminist movement in itself (Lusted 28). The best way to create a stories characters is to build them off of something or someone you know in your life.
