1. Social Problems Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of social problems can be a challenging task, as it requires a
comprehensive understanding of various complex issues that affect society. One of the primary
difficulties lies in the vastness and diversity of social problems that exist, ranging from poverty
and inequality to environmental concerns and political unrest. Selecting a specific focus within
this broad spectrum can be daunting, as each problem demands in-depth research and analysis.
Furthermore, addressing social problems often involves delving into sensitive and controversial
subjects. Navigating these topics with sensitivity and objectivity while presenting a well-
reasoned argument can be a delicate balancing act. Striking the right tone to engage readers and
convey the gravity of the issues without sounding overly pessimistic is another challenge.
Researching for such an essay is time-consuming, as one must sift through a plethora of sources
to gather reliable and diverse information. The dynamic nature of societal issues also means
staying updated with the latest developments, adding an extra layer of complexity to the
research process.
Crafting a compelling thesis statement and organizing the essay in a coherent manner is crucial.
The interconnected nature of social problems often requires addressing multiple facets within a
limited word count, making the structuring process intricate.
Despite these challenges, writing an essay on social problems can be a rewarding experience,
providing an opportunity to contribute to the ongoing dialogue surrounding societal issues. It
encourages critical thinking, empathy, and a deeper understanding of the complexities inherent in
the fabric of human society.
In conclusion, tackling a social problems essay demands meticulous research, careful navigation
of sensitive topics, and effective organization of ideas. It is a task that requires dedication,
critical thinking, and a commitment to presenting a well-informed perspective on the issues at
hand.

3. Culture, Culture And Culture Of The Dominican Republic
The Dominican Republic, located on the Caribbean island of Hispanola, is rich and
vibrant. Geographically the country spans over two thirds of the island, with Haiti as
its neighbor. There are approximately 10,000,000 people inhabiting the Dominican
Republic since the seventh century. The initial inhabitants were indigenous people of
the Caribbean, the Taino. The ancestors of the Taino came to the Caribbean from
South America, therefore many of the traditions, culture, and modes of
communication of the Dominican are rooted in South America. Through examining

In the late 1800s, despite political upheaval, fearsome military leader Ulises Heureaux
initiated a railroad system with the purpose of uniting the entire country ( Dominican

agriculture (Vesser, 2013). The railroad system, combined with the country s sugar
industry has provided reliable income for the overwhelmingly Dominican Republic.
In addition to growing the sugar crop business in the Dominican, Heaureaux also
brought sought to modernize the country in a variety of other ways such as bringing
electricity to the country s capital, San Domingo, and introducing telegraph and

I personally have faced adversities in my lifetime and have had the privilege to

also requires restraint and discipline. Most importantly, a counselor must keep up
with their own mental health. Knowing how to cope, unwind, and relax after

in order to help others is paramount to success in their career. I believe that I posses
all of these qualities and can learn to strengthen and apply them through your

the opportunity to work with people from different backgrounds, cultures, beliefs,

empathy will be the key to giving my clients the assurance needed to make their
first step toward changing their lives and moving forward toward their desired

seek to give back my services in low income areas, nonprofit organizations, as well

5. Deceit In Benito Cereno By Captain Amasa Delano
In Herman Melville s mysterious novella, Benito Cereno , Captain Amasa Delano
observes, what appears to be, a distressed Spanish slave ship navigating into the
harbor of St. Maria. Disregarding the opposition from his crew, Captain Delano
leaves his ship, Bachelor s Delight, and approaches the foreign vessel, San
Dominick, via a whaleboat. In addition to offering water and provisions to the
vessel in distress, Captain Delano encounters who appears to be in command of
the vessel Don Benito Cereno, and his faithful negro servant Babo. Throughout the
novella, Captain Delano witnesses many suspicious behaviors from Benito
Cereno, Babo, and the other slaves on board. Although Captain Delano has mixed
feelings about Benito Cereno, in which he often views him as a paper captain who
has little of command but the name , Captain Delano fails to latch onto his
intuition of who is truly in command of the ship until it s almost too late. There are
many subtle clues that hint at the notion of Melville spinning a web of deceit in
Benito Cereno, but the most revealing clue that best exemplifies this is when Babo
attempts to stab his beloved master Benito Cereno. In what seems to be an
emotional ending to the novella, Benito Cereno bids his emotional adieus to
Captain Delano while holding his hand; however, after Captain Delano and his
crew are settled in their boat and the bowsman pushes the whaleboat off of the San
Dominick, Benito Cereno suddenly springs into Captain Delano s whaleboat and
is then swam after by three Spanish sailors who attempt to climb on board. Still
unsure on what to make of the situation, Captain Delano spots Babo with a dagger
in his hand, and believes that his intent is to stab him. With this in mind, Captain
Delano flings the boarded Spaniards aside and grapples the dagger that is aimed at
his heart away from Babo. Although there were many hints that Melville was
spinning a web of deceit in the novella, the quote that best captures the most crucial
clue in the text is Captain Delano witnessing Babo attempting to stab Benito Cereno:
Glancing down at his feet, Captain Delano saw the freed hand of the servant aiming
with a second dagger a small one, before concealed in his wool with this he

After nearly half a millennium of rule, the Romans began to lose their grip on
Europe in the fifth century. The Fall of Rome left in its ruin political chaos,

As mentioned in Steve Jobs compelling positioning statement in the introduction, he
made two important statements about the product. They were that the iPad was
between two already highly successful mobile devices, the laptop and the
smartphone, and very importantly that the iPad had competitive advantages over
each. Apple brand followers were instantly excited and could not wait for the
release of the iPad so they could be the first to have it, whether they needed such a
device or not! The iPad was a game changer in the tech world when released in April
of 2010 and some believe it may end the personal computer era such is the strength of
the brand.
Target Audience
The iPad s target audience is not as clear as one would think, it turns out that it is
very broad. The initial thought on the iPad by the media was that it was just a big
iPhone that could not be used for regular phone calls, so who would want
something like that? Apple believed, like for the iPod, that the iPad was for
everyone. They got this perception when a year after the iPod was released many
consumers still believed the device was for techies and celebrities . The task,
therefore, was to use communications to inform world audiences that the iPod (and
now the iPad) was for everyone, not just a select few (Fill, 2009). The fact that many
features and programs on the iPad were inherited
11. The Persuasiveness of the Captivity Narrative
As the most influential black American author of his time, in The Interesting
Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano, or Gustavas Vassa, the African, Written by
Himself, Olaudah Equiano illuminated for the masses many of the inhumanities and
atrocities associated with the slave trade that previously had been known only to
those more intimately involved with it and began an entire new genre known as the
slave narrative. Part of the success of Equiano s narrative must be ascribed to the
familiar themes of capture, captivity, and restoration that he experienced and many
had read in one of the many captivity narratives that were so popular in early
Colonial times. One such captivity narrativethat has many similarities to Equiano s

Before Equiano s narrative, slaves were a faceless mass with no individuality or
humanity to speak of. His slave narrative put an individual, educated, Christian face to
the ongoing brutality.
Although both Rowlandson and Equiano s narratives were the first and most
influential narratives at the time they were written, the differences between the two
are much more significant than their similarities. The most noticeable difference
between the two narratives is the portrayal of the captors. While Rowlandson
demonized her captors and dwelled on every slight that she received, and even
though Equiano received much worse from some of the white men that he
encountered, he often wrote of his admiration for them, their education, and the
friendship that was bestowed upon him. Equiano even wrote of one boy who was
particularly nice to him, I regarded [him] ... as ... my friend, whom I loved, and
grieved for, as a brother (691). The differences in this portrayal can be directly
ascribed to the different purposes with which the narratives were written. Rowlandson
demonized the Indians partly because she was writing to the Colonialists in an
attempt to strengthen the Colonialists hatred of the Native Americans. In this case it
would not have been logical to write of their virtues. Equiano, however, was trying to
get his captors to sympathize with his cause. While it was

There are many classifications put forward for describing mandibular fractures. Most
of these classifications are not without complexity, making it difficult to use it for

purposes but not for practical utilization in clinics and hospitals.
Clinicians prefer to use easy and ready to be used type of classification. Le forte

Introduction
Commercial Bank operations play crucial role in monetary policy transmission
mechanism. This has been studied extensively in the theoretical and empirical level.
After the ground breaking research study of Kashyap and Stein (2000), few research
have conduct to explore diversity in bank lending process as responses to monetary
policy changes . However these empirical works are purely related to credit channel
that studies how the bank lending behavior changes with the monetary policy. Since
the outburst of the financial crisis in 2007, policy debates have focused on how to
restore commercial banks operations. In particular, governments of developed
countries had conducted an extraordinary monetary easing and capital injections into
the banking system. Those policy initiatives were primarily focused at recovering the
functioning of the financial system and restoring commercial banks lending. Last
financial crisis episode shows inherent problem of asymmetric information faced by
the bank and how banks were penalized on their reaction to monetary policy.
Fundamentally, change in interest rates effect individual banks in different degree and
creates distributional effects across banking industry. The crisis demands analysis of
research question on the risk taking channel of monetary policy.

The role of the commercial banks in the transmission of monetary policy has been

This integral bus design implies that you can build a bus as a whole with a frame of

he would consider them as being a waste of time and effort. Even though Shimamura

Shimamura found out about these rumors because he was gossiping with the
masseuse about Komako. These rumors made him feel like Komako was just

narrator expresses Shimamura s thoughts after being told this complicated rumor:
[...] the expression wasted effort again came into Shimamura s mind. For Komako
thus to guard her promise to the end, for her even to sell herself to pay doctors bills
what was it if not wasted effort? (Kawabata 61). This example of Shimamura s
thoughts portrays to the reader that he has feelings for Komako and that he does
not think that she should spend her time doing things that is not worth her while
just for money, especially if the man is dying. It s portrayed to the reader that
Shimamura cares about Komako when the narrator explains an action that
Shimamura will pursue in the future: He would accost her with this fact, he would
drive it home, when he saw her again, he said to himself; and yet her existence
seemed to have become purer and cleaner for this new bit of knowledge (Kawabata
61 62). This illustrates to the reader that Shimamura would rather go to Komako
about the rumor to see if it is really true, rather than believing what other people say
and spread the rumor even more. This action is portrayed when Shimamura asks
Komako about the rumor and she asks him did he believe it, and he said: I couldn t
quite believe all of it (Kawabata 67). This shows Komako that she can have some
trust in Shimamura because he came to her first, and got the real truth. This part in
the book also portrays how Komako and Shimamura grew in their relationship,
because they now have trust between them which is an important key in a

which causes most of the deaths near the mountains. The K2 mountain has lakes and
rivers surrounding it which started flooding in July of 2010 because of global
warming and an excess amount of rain. The floods wreaking havoc on the
livelihoods, homes, and lives of the people residing there. Each day I was there the
weather varied from it being cool, rainy, to freezing. People want to be like nature:
having beauty, being good, and having quality traits, but they also come with nature s
downfalls.
I wouldn t have even guessed that people lived here if there hadn t
been bridges and shepherds walking around. Nature is so many things, but
ultimately its a thing of such beauty. Untouched landscapes could show you just
how beautiful nature is without human interference, seducing you with its beauty.
Food for the animals were scarce as well for the poor. I saw these band of orphans,
deep in the mountains who were starving, I could tell by their gaunt faces. It hurt to
see such a sight, the only food I had on myself at the moment was gum, so I gave
each child a piece of gum. Their faces lit up
22. New Changes Of Chinese Interpersonal Relationship From
A...
In the past 70 years, no one can deny that great changes such as modernization and
globalization have brought dramatic social, economic, political and cultural impact
on every aspects of Chinese society. However, does this mean there s a totally new
way for Chinese people to relate to one another in modern Chinese nation state? To
answer this question, a rethinking of Fei s theory in his book from the soil the
foundations of Chinese society is needed. As a key word to understand the traditional
Chinese relationship, the mode of differential association summarizes three characters
of this kind of society: acquaintance society based on small scale peasant economy,
patrilineal relationship as the core of social relationships and rite order whose
members are differentiated by the sequence of ethics. In this essay, I will try to
summarize new changes in contemporary Chinese interpersonal relationshipfrom two
aspects. Then I will examine the views that insist there s no new way in relationship.
It will be argued that there s a mixture of Chaxugeju and new way in Chinese
interpersonal relationship and a trend that young citizens tend to have a new relation
with others while elder generation still relate to one another base on chaxugeju.
For people who hold the view that citizen today have totally new way to relate to
others, views can be summed up in two points: the relation today is less rely on
moral principles and becoming more diverse and boarder, which is totally

This interview went fairly well. The interviewer was quite nervous and it really
showed at some points in the interview. The interviewer did also show some strengths
in the interview process. As mentioned above, the interviewer demonstrated a few
strengths throughout the interview. The interviewer effectively explained the setup
of the room and ensured the volunteer that confidentiality would be maintained. As
stated in Arnold and Boggs, She also asked a large amount of open ended questions,
which allowed the volunteer to talk about what they felt comfortable discussing.
According to Arnold and Boggs, open ended questions allow in, sharing the personal

24. Real Life Model Paper
A model provides a representation of a real life system (Oguz, 2004). Elements of
real life are represented in the model as variables and allow for analysis of these
selected variables, their relationships, and the interdependencies between them (Oguz,
2004). Models provide a platform to investigate historical data, virtually manipulate
these variable, and assess potential implications of current or future policies and
programs on these variables.
Land use change and urban growth is one such real life event that has been analyzed
and modeled using a variety of different techniques. Understanding the change in land
use and urban growth patterns enable forecasting and possible prediction of
consequences of human behavior and natural phenomenon. ... Show more content on

This drawback was addressed by emergence of polycentric and zonal land use
models in the late 1930s and 1940s (Rodrigue, 2015). A model proposed by Hoyt
(1939), based on a study of residential areas of North America, stated that land use
pattern and growth were not sharply defined as concentric circles but rather were
sectors within a circle and major transportation corridors were responsible for
defining these sectors (Rodrigue, 2015). Harris and Ullman (1945) proposed a
model which also stated that cities do not grow around central business district but
rather develop as nodes that differentiate and are further specialized based on
factors such as accessibility, proximity interactions with other similar or different
areas, as well as location suitability based on price, rent and so on (Rodrigue, 2015).
Following these concepts of land use and urban growth, hybrid models, such as that
of Isard (1955), were developed in the latter half of the 1950. These models
amalgamated the behaviors of various concentric, sector, and nuclei models into one
model to explain land use change and urban growth (Rodrigue, 2015). The limitations
of these traditional models have been their static and linear nature, which made it
difficult for these models to encompass and generate certain parameters such as
complex surface features, as well as their focus on mostly large geographic units such
as administrative regions, that provided insufficient spatial information for setting up
detailed land use and growth models (Qi,
25. War Of The Roses And The War Of The Roses
The War of the Roses and mainly the Battle of Towton (1461), were savagely,
horrendous, and insanely bloody battles filled with thousands of deaths, deadly
weaponry and overkill, that Britain had ever seen before. Fought by the Houses of
Lancaster and York for control over the English throne for many years with the use of
strategic planning, impressive leadership, and advanced weaponry all explain the
cruel savagery of medieval warfare. Advancement in weaponry and armor was shown
profusely throughout the Battle of Towtonwith the use of the suit of armor, poleaxe,
Mary rose longbow and the earliest handguns. The English Men At Arms were
equipped with the best armor, which composed of a suit or steal that could weigh
up to sixty pounds. These soldiers would fight on foot to protect their archers and
because the horses couldn t not to armored properly. The armor was very resistant
to hand to hand combat, the heavy metal made for good protection, but the
downfall is that it was a heavy suit to have to fight in. The poleaxe was the main
used weapon at this time, consisted of an axe on one end and a sword on the other.
Nevertheless, this weapon was especially gruesome for smashing and taking down
their opponent in battle. Once the Yorkists had won the battle of Towton they
savagely went after the fleeing Lancastrians showing no mercy, cutting any
survivors down causing a bloodbath. Using the poleaxe and other swords they
bloodily slashed, smashed and murdered the surviving Lancastrians, causing a
deadly defeat of the Lancastrian army and a cruel but a well earned victory for the
Yorkists. The Mary Rose long bow became the national weapon of England during
this time. It was a long, heavy bow that weighed up to one hundred and eighty
pounds, had a range of three hundred yards and if the bowman was well trained, it
could shoot up to 20 arrows a minute. This weapon could penetrate most armor, but
required great strength and practice to use effectively. The handguns were the
newest weapon at the time so they were used at close range as they could not be
shot very far, but were very deadly to the opponent that is getting shot at. The
weaponry of medieval warfare shows that this time period was bloody, gruesome

Residents have the same rights as you do from the right to refuse to the right to be
informed. When a patient refuses in the nursing home its always best to give the
patients a little time and then come back to them and maybe once they get
themselves together and do what you asked them to do. Residents right are the most
important thing to learn. You must make sure that the resident doesn t feel like
someone is taking over their lives. When dealing with coding and working with
medical records you must consider the patient feelings and request. Communication is
the main key when dealing with patients. Patients always want to stay informed about

An able military leader, Osei Tutu, won control of the trading city of Kumasi. From
there he conquered neighboring peoples and unified the Asante kingdom. Osei Tutu
had been a hostage in the Denkyera court but had escaped eastward to the powerful
state of Akwamu, where he was exposed to new ideas of political and military
organization. When he returned to Kumasi, some Akwamu accompanied him. One
was a priest, Okomfo Anokye, who is usually given credit for introducing the
legendary Golden Stool, which, according to Asante tradition, was brought down
from heaven by the priest, and, as the repository of the spirit of the nation, became the
symbol of the mystical bond between all Asante. Osei Tutu helped to build up the

The Asante faced a great challenge in the Denkyera, a powerful neighboring enemy
kingdom. Osei Tutu realized that in order to withstand the Denkyera, the people of
his kingdom needed to be firmly united. To do this, he claimed that his right to rule
came from heaven, and that people in the kingdom were linked by spiritual bonds.
This strategy paid off when the Asante defeated the Denkyera in the late 1600s.
Under Osei Tutu, government officials, chosen by merit rather than by birth,
supervised an efficient bureaucracy. They managed the royal monopolies on gold
mining and the slave trade. A monopoly is the exclusive control of a business or
industry. The Asante traded with Europeans on the coast, exchanging gold and slave
for firearms. They also played rival with Europeans against one another to protect
themselves. In this way they built a wealthy, powerful
28. The s Descent Into Depression And Madness
1.Many signs throughout the novel specify Esther s descent into depression and
madness. Outside factors such as social pressures cause Esther s descent into
madness. Societal pressures to get married and be pure expedite Esther s descent
into madness. The stages of this are specified at first as Esther saying she feels I
just bumped from my hotel to work and to parties and from parties to my hotel and
back to work like a numb trolleybus. This feeling of being inexplicably unhappy and
not having any motivation is the first stage of her descent into madness. This
quickly progresses to her feeling more depressed and not being able to partake in
activities she usually enjoyed. She slowly loses the ability to read and write
which is a large step towards insanity. She fully descends into madness when she
begins to have suicidal thoughts and actions, which she eventually tries to act
upon. Her descent into madness was inevitable because she is suffering from a
mental condition that would have caused her to go insane regardless, but her
experiences and outside pressures drive her to madness more quickly. 2.The
primary meaning of the bell jar in the novel is the unspecified mental illness that
plagues Esther. She feels trapped inside her mind and in turn this causes her to feel
hopeless and isolated. She says that no matter what she does she ...would be sitting

Connection...
The examination of human history displays the connection of learning and
technology. eLearning theories provide guiderails for educators and students to
express and cultivate a systematic approach to distance education in an increasingly
online world. Various eLearning theories informed recent DE Practice; however; this
paper thesis is supported by two: Constructivist and Online Collaborative Learning
(OCL). The fundamental principles of each theory and the implications those
principles have on distance education(DE) will be explored.
The Constructivist Theory
The Constructivist theory defined by Harasim (2012) denotes the assembling of ones
own understanding and knowledge of the world through experience and reflecting
upon that experience (p. 12). At the center of a learners educational experience is
themselves. Learners erect their own knowledge by deducing and managing the
information obtained. The Constructivist theory focus on promoting learning
assembled, relative, and incorporated with prior knowledge and experience by the
learner.
Mbati (2013) explains Constructivism four critical elements to achieve this learning
paradigm:
Learners use of previous intelligence to obtain new intelligence.
Learners recognize the difference between their previous and new intelligence.
Learners apply their new intelligence and obtain feedback.
Learners reflection on information learned to ensure this intelligence is fully
integrated into memory.

Alzheimer s disease is the leading form of dementia within the world s elderly
population and given that there exists an ever increasing percentage of the elderly
population within society, understanding this neurodegenerative disease has become
more important than ever. It is a disease associated with subcortical temporal lobe
structures such as the Hippocampus, the Entorhinal Cortex, the Amygdala, the
Thalamus, among others. Clinically, those millions of individuals suffering from the
disease experience episodes of irreversible memory loss, changes in personality and
confusion (among a plethora of other symptoms). Physiologically, the disease is
characterized by the accumulation of insoluble amyloid beta plaques, derived from
the amyloid precursor protein (APP). Another characteristic marker for Alzheimer s
dementia is the Hyper phosphorylation of the Tau protein which then aggregates to
form insoluble neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs), that inhibit a cell s ability to regulate
the stabilization of the microtubule component tubulin. Transgenic animal models
have proven to be quite useful in terms of exploring the ways in which diseases

35. Essay on Setting in Hills Like White Elephants, by Ernest...
Swaying trees in the distance, blue skies and birds chirping, all of these are
examples of setting. Setting can create the mood and tone of characters in a story. In
the story Hills Like White Elephants, the story starts out with our two characters, Jig
and the American, also referred to as the man, on a trainoverlooking mountains. The
girl was looking off at the line of hills. They were white in the sun and the country
was brown and dry (Hemingway). In the case of this short story, the hills provided Jig
something to take her mind off of the grueling conversation she was having with the
Man. As said by a critic, the story itself is comprised almost entirely of dialogue.

Along with the location of setting, the time also plays an important factor.
Hemingway uses a lot of symbols and figurative language, so the time of the story
was not clear cut. Hemingway however, did give us clues for our imaginations to
think about what time it actually was. There was no shade and no trees and the
station was between two lines of rails (Hemingway). This indicates that it was mid
day and there was no shade to take cover in. As the story progresses the time of the
day also carries on. There was a warm shadow of the building and a curtain, made
of bamboo beads hung to keep the flies out (Hemingway). In this quote it is
suggesting that it was late afternoon and the sun was moving. The couple at this
point arrived at the station therefore the building was casting a shadow. The most
important of all subjects of setting is tone. Tone can control how the whole story
will play out, as well as how the characters act towards each other. Please, please,
please, please, please stop talking (Hemingway). Jig says this to the Man because
he is adamant about talking to Jig about the operation. Jig gets fed up with the Man
s constant pestering and she finally tells him to be quite. The Man also shows his
voice in the story, he tries to comfort Jig as well as help her make an important
decision. I don t want to make you do anything you don t want to (Hemingway). This

INTRODUCTION
Every day millions of people around the United States commute daily to work, and
to run their errands. In almost every state in the United States, wearing a seatbelt is
required. Many people ask why they should have to wear a seatbelt in their private
vehicles, while others agree that everybody definitely should wear their seatbelt.
Should the government be able to create and enforce this laws such as this one on
the public? This paper will discuss the seatbelt law, the views of philosophers
Thomas Hobbes, and Jean Jacques Rousseau, and whether or not this law is ethical.
THOMAS HOBBES Thomas Hobbes (1588 1679) was an English philosopher who
is best known for his work in political ethics. Hobbes had a pessimistic view of the
human race, however his theory has been used as a major influence on western
political views. In 1651, Thomas Hobbes wrote Leviathan, in which he states that life
before government was violent, brutal, and barbaric. Hobbes continues on to argue
that civil peace and social unity are best achieved by the establishment of a
commonwealth through social contract. Leviathan consisted of four books: 1.) Of
Man, 2.) Of Commonwealth, 3.) Of a Christian Commonwealth, and 4.) Of the
Kingdom of Darkness. The first book contains the philosophical context, while the
second book outlines the rights of the citizens within the commonwealth. The third
book argues against certain scriptures, and whether or not a person can claim

This essay will explore the benefit of animals being used in biomedical research,
the actions implemented to protect animal welfare as well as other viable options
to minimize harm to animals. Science experiments using animals have created a
foundation for advances in biomedical sciences. Animals used in medical sciences
can be traced back to 384 322 BCE in Greek writings of Aristotle followed by
Erasistratus, 304 358 BCE (Dey). Some of the most rudimentary knowledge known
to man now was found through animal experimentation. Such as the fact that arteries

The principle of the 3R s derived from support of the Universities Federation for
Animal Welfare for Russell and Burch s Principles of humane experimental
technique (1959) to be published (Bayvel). The 3R s work well in combination
with many organizations on site, nationally and worldwide that monitor research
for best practice. Animal models in experimentation serve in an imperative role.
Currently, substances intended for human use (drugs or devices) must be tested in
an animal model first to determine if they must be adjusted, denied or approved.
Research conducted on diseased animals provide insight to progression of similar
diseases in humans, improve knowledge of biological responses to various
substances and devices. They also result in the production of various products such
as food additives, agrochemicals, vaccines, implants and pharmaceuticals. It has
been estimated that more than 1,200,000 species of animals have been described,
but 97% of the animals used for biomedical purpose belong to only 10 of them.
They are rat, mouse, rabbit, chicken, dog, guinea pig, pig, hamster, monkey, and cat
(Pal). Roughly, 95% of studies are conducted in mice (Dey). A different species is
used only when it is a more closely matching system to the equivalent in humans.
Many things must be considered when choosing a model for research; availability,
anatomic characteristics, stage of life,
39. Death And Its Effect On Death
No one wants to die. Even people who want seek their religious salvation after
death, do not want to die to get there. Whether you fear it, embrace it, or recognize
death as something other than the biological end of your life, death is the
destination we all share as no one has ever escaped it. However you feel about death,
it s probably a result of how you ve been conditioned to the idea of death. What a
culture believes happens during and after death, whether there is an afterlifeand what
that afterlife might be like, morality, and fate greatly shapes how an individual feels
and embraces death. Taking a closer look at how some different cultures throughout
time such as the ancient Egyptians, the Greeks and Romans, and native American
Indians we can see how this universal human experience isn t so universal outside
the biological end of the physical body. Death of the physical body can come in all
forms at any moment. The cessation of organs, breath, brain activity, and vital
functions is the medical definition of death, however to some cultures this isn t an
accurate representation of the end of the physical body. What these three cultures
have in common is that they believed the physical body was a vessel for the spirit
and was signified the end of the person life on earth with a transition to the afterlife.
For instance, the ancient Egyptians believed humans were made up of both physical
and non physical elements, the body making up the physical element. Due to

The pyramid of Giza construction was created during the old kingdom. This majestic

was no exception to have meaning in its structure. In building the pyramidof Giza the
sides are smooth and angled to embody the emissions from the sun this was
believed to aid the king in his voyage to the afterlife. This pyramid was built as a
tomb to hold the remains of the king once he died. Similarly, to numerous royals
tombs this pyramid has extravagant paintings and had offerings to the gods to
help ease the transition from life to death. The Solar temple is located on the
shores of Abusir lake. The solar temple was discovered during the time of 1898 to

we currently view this temple isn t as striking as the pyramid of Giza. Nonetheless,
the significance of this structure lies within. This temple is rectangular in design
it was created to be aligned with the focal point of the piece which was the
compass in the center of the courtyard. In the center of the courtyard their lays an

Sandel challenges the case for perfection in his article by simply stating that
genetic engineering is not for him and means nothing, he does not like it but rather
thinks that it is the future for fellow Americans and others. It is overall a
challenging case of perfection in my opinion because people are messing with
nature s course of making life, and people should just let mother nature continue
what she s doing and forget about genetic engineering. The number one reason why
genetic engineering s bad is because it is not fair. For the simple fact that if
someone and their significant other have a child, then they can genetically engineer
their child to be the greatest athlete they can be. Skills should be earned, not just
given to a child. No matter what kind of raw talent or naturally given gifts, a person
still has to do work and apply... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The genetics you receive are all natural, but if you get yours changed it s not fair to
you. You shouldn t have anything done or changes made to something that is
natural, it can physically affect something in your body and could change your life
forever. The harm could be a large portion of your genetics or no harm at all
depending on how your body reacts to the engineering. It is unfair and wrong to
change something that is naturally selected not just given.
Some may argue that it can cure diseases. That is true, but i could definitely lead to
something else too. Genetic defects is a side effect of genetic engineering, not all
of the time but in some cases. If genetic engineering is attempted while the baby is
in the womb it can lead to defects on the kid or even worse a miscarriage.
Miscarriage s and birth defects is by far not what the mother and other siblings wants
to think about at all. If genetic engineering is causing all of these mishaps then why
is it
44. Pre-Disciplinary Communication Reflection
On August 31, 2017 I spoke with Officer Burns via telephone in regards to his
pending discipline and some concerns that had been brought to my attention by
fellow officers and supervisors. The first portion of the conversation centered on his
pending discipline and determining a date that would be acceptable for him to attend
a pre disciplinary hearing with Captain Berger to discuss the alleged violations.
During this conversation I explained the severity of the violations and that based
upon the number of violations within the past twelve months he will subjectto the
progressive discipline policy.
It was stressed to Officer Burns that he could also be subject to termination in the
future if his performance did not improve and he committed another violation. Officer
Burns acknowledged that he understood the severity of the violations and
acknowledged that he was aware of the progressive discipline policy of the city. After
discussing the policy violations and determining an acceptable date for the pre
disciplinary hearing, I segued to the topic of the performance concerns that were
brought to my attention.
The first instance I spoke with Officer Burns about was the concerns that were
brought up by Sgt. Adam Smotrich. Sgt. Smotrich detailed in a message to me that
while on a call with Officer Burns involving an individual experiencing an
emotional crisis and wielding a metal pipe, he became increasingly concerned that
Officer Burns would be unable to defend himself. The reason for this concern was
based upon the perceived physical limitations demonstrated by Officer Burns on the
call. Sgt. Smotrich noted a noticeable limp and lack of ability to move laterally or
backwards in a reasonably quick manner.
This caused Sgt. Smotrich concern because he did not want Officer Burns to fall and
be unable to defend himself if the subject advanced quickly while wielding a pipe.
Sgt. Smotrich indicated he felt that Officer Burns would have been unable to
adequately defend himself or assist him if he needed it. Sgt. Smotrich also noticed
that after Officer Burns handcuffed the subject who was on the ground in a prone
position, he labored to successfully get up without assistance. Sgt. Smotrich felt it
45. Sonoran Desert Ecosystem Lab Report
There are different sorts of environments scattered over the earth, but what and where
are they? In World Biodiversity Expedition, the reader is to collect data about these
organisms and the environment they are settled at. A biome is often mistaken as an
ecosystem, however, it is defined by non living factors such as climate, soils, and
vegetation. This unit helped me understand more clearly that there are so many
organisms that I did not know anything about. I learned a lot from this specific unit
when it comes to discoverying animals and organisms that I did not know exist.
Firstly, we are going to survey life and environments at the Sonoran Desert with
temperatures reaching 118℉ with over 16 inches of rain each year in total. The
Desert ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Blue whale has two flippers that are close the chest along with two blowholes
that make navigating the ocean better. The Blue whale is the largest animal known
to man with lengths and width of 29.9 meters. Whales bodies coloration is grey
white on the ventral side while the dorsal side is blue gray. Nearly 2,000 9,000
pounds of Krill can fill a fully grown Blue whale daily, nearly 8,000 pounds of Krill is
eaten during the whales peak consumption period. The next organism I identified is
the Antartctic krill that is 6 centimeters in length. This animals is consumed by many
marine animals such as the Blue whale, but what does the krill eat? The Antartctic
krill consumes phytoplankton which is a componet of the Plankton family. Although
the krill is transparent, it has coloration such as red, pink, yellow and blue.
In conclusion, one can see that there are organisms that they may not have known
exist or know anything about. This unit takes the reader around the world to observe
beginiing with the Soran Desert, Antarctica, Yellowstone, Great Barrier Reef, Deep
Ocean, and Central Park. Learning about habitats and the settled life forms that thrive
for survival. Seeing the variety of temperatures these animals are settled in along with
their weight and length. Frigid climates have animals that are adapted to
46. Non-Profit Case Study
Strategic Partnering in Non Profit Organizations In a perfect world, every division
in a company would have no problem getting along with each other. However, this
is not a perfect world and not everyone will get along just because they are
employed under the same enterprise. When the chief executive officer (CEO) asks
the head of human resources (HR) to partner with the finance department on a non
profit project, it is at this point for HR and finance formulate a strategic initiative to
complete the assignment. The paper examines the initial planning process for non
profits, anticipation of non profit planning, and success in non profit planning.
Strategic Planning: The Initial Planning Process for Non Profits In any strategic
planning for non profits, it is essential to establish an approach to a new project.
Before raddling off to the client about how the project should be completed, the first
order of business is to collect reliable information about the project to come to the
conclusion which assessment that will deliver... Show more content on

The phases in a conception stage are creativity and structuring (Nutt, 1984). In a
creativity phase, there are two techniques to stimulate creative approaches as
synectics and lateral thinking (Nutt, 1984). Synectics is to prompt creativity into
groups to visualize new ideas (Nutt, 1984). Lateral thinking is creating new thought
processing (Nutt, 1984). A structure phase must meet five criteria to add value in
scenarios or alternatives to the plan; morphology or combination of possible
outcomes of the key plan components; tree structure or the levels of hierarchy; inputs
and outputs of a current strategy that creates a mode to guarantee consistency; and
policy capturing or examine past decisions that brought value (Nutt, 1984). The final
step in initiating a planning process for non profits, prompting a business relationship
between HR and
