Introduction: In this lab our group observed the role of pancreatic amylase in the
digestion of starch and the optimum temperature and pH that affects this enzyme.
Enzymes are located inside of cells that increase the rate of a chemical reaction
(Cooper, 2000). Most enzymes function in a narrow range of pH between 5 through 9
(Won Park, Zipp, 2000). The temperaturefor which enzymes can function is limited
as well ranging from 0 degrees Celsius (melting point) to 100 degrees Celsius
(boiling point)(Won Park, Zipp, 2000). When the temperature varies in range it can
affect the enzyme either by affecting the constant of the reaction rate or by thermal
denturization of the particular enzyme (Won Park, Zipp, 2000). In this lab in
particular the enzyme, which was of concern, was pancreatic amylase. This type of
amylase comes from and is secreted from the pancreas to digest starch to break it
down into a more simple form called maltose. Maltose is a disaccharide composed
of two monosaccharides of glucose. The presence of glucose in our experiment
can be identified by Benedicts solution, which shows that the reducing of sugars
has taken place. If positive the solution will turn into a murky reddish color, where if
it is negative it will stay clear in our reaction. We can also test if no reduction of
sugars takes place by an iodine test. If starch is present the test will show a dark

The concept of using Pervious Concrete Pavement have been developed many years
ago, but it has come to light recently, because of the increase of storm due to climate
change. Pervious Concrete pavement is a different type of concrete with high
porosity, which allows the water to infiltrate and reach the groundwater; thereby it
reduces the water runoff and filtrates it. This kind of permeable pavement, consist of
large aggregates and less or no fine aggregates. The pervious concrete pavement is
one of the important and sustainable construction for reducing the environmental
impacts and it is a good choice for earning LEED credits.

Divergent is a great coming of age novel because the protagonist undergoes a
transformative change of character. In Divergent the main character Beatrice,
whose name means voyageur, goes on a journey that changes not only her name,

but does not get through to them because of Harry s anger and rage. With a little
help from surprise visitors Harry realizes the truth and his judgment changes toward
Sirius. Sirius tells him he was tricked and that he was partly responsible for their
death. But he would do anything to change the past. He was then appointed Harry s
stepfather. After another scuffle Sirius is caught and taken up to Hogwarts dungeon
where he was to be executed by a dementors kiss (in which the soul is sucked out
through the mouth). Dumbledore knows the truth and helps Harry save Sirius. Sirius
leaves for a hiding place and their he resides until his death in the 5th book. The
conflict in this story was trying to find Sirius and find the truth. It is solved when

Investigating whether a renewable fuel produces the same level of energy as an
equivalent amount of nonrenewable fuel would be beneficial to help save Earth s
natural resources and is a very relevant and important science project. The purpose of
this project is to figure out which type of fuels is most efficient. In my science
project, I will be burning various types of renewable fuels and non renewable fuels
and comparing the duration that they burn and comparing the temperature that they
burn.
Finding the most effective fuel could solve a global issue and debate about which
