Counseling Ethical Theories
The term ethics can be interpreted countless ways. Ethical theories are provided at most
workforces, especially in the counseling profession. Ethical code is a standard guideline that must
be followed to be an ethical professional. Codes are best viewed as evolving documents that are
responsive to the needs of counselors, the clients they serve, and society in general. (Corey, Corey,
Corey , Callanan, 2015) Ethical theories outline what is morally right and wrong. Ethicsprovides
rules of how to avoid ethical dilemmas and how to respond when an ethical dilemma does occur.
Although, there can be a confusion on making an ethical decision when a difficult situation arises.

This is when an ethical dilemma can occur. .Ethical dilemmas happen quite frequently, especially
in the workplace. When issues arise it s important to make an appropriate decision. A person must
first realize that there is a dilemma. The problem should be known by the party responsible of
change. To develop a solution to an ethical issue, the individuals who are involved and responsible
for the dilemma should be determined. There can be multiple people who contribute to cause the
problem; thus, it is substantial to determine who has the ability to make changes and solve the

Common Childhood Illness Research Paper
Childhood Illnesses
Chickenpox is one of the most common childhood illnesses, it causes a red rash itchy rash that
turns into fluid filled spots, it can vary from a small rash to the spots covering the whole body.
The spots are more likely to appear on the face, around the ears, under arms and belly. The child is
likely to have a fever and due to the spots being so itchy they will feel uncomfortable and irritated,
mild painkillers can temporarily alleviate this however there I no found treatment to stop
chickenpox. The incubation period for chickenpox is between one and three weeks; its most
infectious time is between one and two days before the rash appears, but it continues to be
infectious until all the blisters have crusted over. This means that if a child has got chickenpox
they must be away from the nursery for 2 3 weeks so that other children are protected.
General colds/coughs are normal in children and they will on average have around 8 a year, this is
because they have an immunity to the common cold however as they get older they will get colds
less as their immunity is growing stronger with each cold they get. The symptoms are a runny nose,
cough and sore throat. The common cold is usually nothing to worry about, make sure they drink
more than usual to help their throat and if needed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Roles of Cultural Belief Systems in Respects to Theme...
Pedro Paramo is a novel that cannot be fully understood without consideration of its rich cultural
background. It is this Mexican background, which informs so much of the novel, providing the
main conflict. The narrator of the tale remarks some villages have the smell of misfortune while
describing the locale of Pedro ParГЎmo, the small Mexican town of Comala where the story plays
out on many levels (83). On the surface level, this story is merely about a tyranical man who ruins
his hometown of Comala. But in reality he does much more than that, his presence detroys the town
completely, driving everyone out and converting the town to a type of purgatory. This deeper harm
that he causes, by damning the rest of his townsmen is the evil... Show more content on

I would walk into town to see what the uproar was about, and this is what I would see: just what
we re seing now. Nothing. No one. The streets as empty as they are now (41). The streets are
always empty in Comala. It has been left completely to ruin and is now inhabited only by the
spirits of those who once lived here. But even spirits must have a reason for staying and not going
on to heaven? In following with the Catholic faith, the people of Comala must wait in purgatory,
the Refuge of Sinners until they have repaid the sins they have committed (16). The town is a
hotbed of sinning, the very image of damnation , it is said That town sits on the coals of the
earth, at the very mouth of hell. They say that when people from there die and go to hell, they
come back for a blanket (52, 6). The instances in which people are actually able to get out are few
and far between, as seen by the quote they ve gone so far that it s easier not to come back. He s
been trying and trying to leave, and I think this is the time (56). This is owing to the abject
poverty of the town, leaving people unable to pay their tithes in order to make it to heaven. These
poor soulds are not even kept in remembrance, so they may never reach heaven. As their
descendants remark we don t even make the effort to pray for them anymore, to help them out of
their purgatory (52). Pedro PГЎramo is a novel with a distinctly Catholic conflict, namely, the

Individualism Is Celebrated As An Achievement Of Our...
In our modern society, individualism is celebrated as an achievement of our culture, economy, and
success. It basks in the light of personal success overthrowing the success of the community, and
believes that to be personally successful is more important than the success and solidarity among
the people you identify with. In the 19th century of Latin America, this ideology was forced onto a
society that perceived itself as a collective culture. The success of the majority was more important
than the success of the individual to the non Europeans of Latin America. To be successful for the
community was success in itself, as you were helping the group. If the community suffered, then
you would suffer as well. There was not one person in the community who was at fault for the
majority failure, but the whole community was at fault. The European individualistic ideology took
the traditional collective perspective and destroyed it with class systems, culture conflict, economic
change, and lack of options for the people of Latin America to change the course of their land s
ideologies. The beginning of the indoctrination of individualismwas the divide between the eliteand
the folk in Latin American. The elite people of Latin America were those from the mother country
of the colony, or descendents of people from the mother country. They represented the wealth, skills,
power, and birthright of those in the highest class in Latin America (5). The folk of Latin America

Persuasive Essay About Thanksgiving Food
nimals, I think it s kind of gross, but I don t have the commitment to say I m a vegetarian.
Anyway, I don t enjoy eating animals that much, it s just not for me but that s a personal
problem. But that s the main focus of Thanksgiving! People just call is Turkey Day, sometimes!
So, there s one holiday food, OUT! Next in line, we have stuffing. Mmm don t you just love good
old fashioned wet bread to fill your genetically modified turkey s carcass? Ew! What? Why is that
a thing? I don t need to argue this further, I think you get it. The only other key player in the
Thanksgivingmeal that comes to mind is pumpkinpie. Pumpkin spice is a fan favorite, starting
early September people go wild over everything flavored to taste like that festive squash. That s
another one of those foods that I just don t like, I m a picky eater, it s fine. So, I ll let everyone
have that, but that does not make Thanksgiving more enjoyable to me. The only Thanksgiving
food that I can thoroughly enjoy, are mashed potatoes. Those are glorious, I m not mad at them
but my family gets a little upset at me when that s all I eat for Thanksgiving dinner so it doesn t
even count. Major portion of Thanksgiving celebration is the food, and I m not into it. Boom!
Holiday ruined! I mean, if I m going to overeat, it might as well be foods I enjoy! But, it gets worse.
Starting in like Kindergarten, we re taught that the first Thanksgiving was celebrated by the
pilgrims and WampanoagIndians. That s cute and

The Raft
In The Raft 2004 , Bill Viola used various visual tools to communicate with the viewers by
making the video in a slow motion. Not only this, he also used lights, colors and props in a
creative way to make the video look more attractive as well as more informative. The main
reason behind artist using the slow motion is to allow the viewers to carefully look at the
movements as well as the activity of each people. Similarly, he also used lights to make us see
the various age group peoples properly along with the facial expression. Not only this, he also
zoomed in and out, which allows us to focus back and forth and make our mindthinking that there
are huge group of peoples. Likewise, he also used the colors as well as props to denote each
person getting engaged in something and making themselves busy. However, the water comes from
both the sides which adds a different level in the video. People who were busy couple of minutes
ago got to know each other s worth when the forceful water started hitting on them.

I think power has been reflected in this piece in two ways: the physical power of the water, and the
power of a group of people with a common ground. The water has the power to move this group of
people into an iterraction that wouldnt otherwise have happened, forcing them to have a sudden
association with one another. They showed power over the water in their ability to protect,

Slater Academy Narrative
The day I arrived at glider academy was strikingly memorable. The ten day academy would
consist of ground and air instruction in non powered aircraft known as gliders. This particular
day however, I would meet a man that would transform my perception of my emotions. Jer sat in
the cockpit of the Schleicher aircraft, the canopy ajar. Nineteen eager students towered over. Next!
, it was my turn to sit in the glider. I climbed in, swinging my legs over the fuselage onto both
rudder pedals. Put your seatbelt on. , Jer said sternly. I put the seatbelt on left shoulder then right.

How Did Slavery Affect Early American Economy
The slavery was always a great part of early American economy but with the development of
capitalism the view on slavery had been changed. Between The Revolution and Civil War, during
the period known as market revolution , American economy has been swiftly transforming, and the
changes broke up the country into North and South. This division was determined by the different
approaches to the economic growth and labor organization. Northern economy has been converted
into new commercial economy with new wages paid labor organization. Southern economy
remained depended on slavery. The economy of North rapidly grew, and there was great demand for
labor. The growth of transportation, communication, network of roads, canals, and railroads, and

The growth in cotton and crops production did not cause the change in economic system, but
caused the increase in demand in slaves. Cotton boom required more production, and more
production required more labor that meant more slaves. The number of slaves increased from
700.000 in 1790 to more than 1,5 million by 1820. For Southern states the idea of abolition was
something incredible and impossible. Southern planters saw slavery as the only way of labor
organization for black people. They believed that the slavery was the only conditions in which
blacks could exist and that is why they could not be freed they did not fit for freedom. Slaves
were considered as property and therefore could not be treated as free people. For Southern
planters the violence, both physical and sexual, was the norms of morality, they believed that as
soon as slaves are property they could not have feelings and emotions and all what blacks need
was to be feed, dressed, and have shelter. Since Southern planters gave this basics to slaves they
thought that slaves should be happy and

Atlanta Exposition Address
On September 18, 1895, a profound African American leader, activist and advocator for racial
equality, Booker T. Washington spoke before an integrated mass at the Cotton States and
International Exposition in Atlanta, Georgia. Although the organizers of the exposition worried
that the demeanor of the public would not be prepared for such a progressive move outside of
their innate social norm, they decided that inviting a black speaker would impress Northern visitors
with the evidence of racial progress in the South. The Atlanta Compromise Address , as it came to
be called, covered concerns of uppity blacks by claiming that the African Americanracewould
complacently live by the productions of their hands.

Washington was speaking of. We still appear to respect and value a record deal with all the perks
or stardom over an understanding of real estate or property ownership and acquiring an industrial
skill. To the overvaluing of entertainment, we can today add athletics and urban pharmaceuticals .
We still have too many of those who believe it is of more value to get while they can at any means
necessary than starting and building a successful career and business.
While entertainment, sports, and other forms of making do each have their value to those who find
it suitable, these are not foundational to the sure success of a people. These, if sought prematurely
and without the proper foundation will not provide for lasting success, and may in fact cause
failure to achieve the lasting success of a society.
As I took a step and researched more on the late leader it is clear that you must understand one
thing in order to keep all of Booker T. Washington s writings and ideas in proper perspective. He
loved the pure value of work. He worked tirelessly himself and taught that a job well done was
reward enough in itself. But he also understood and taught that:
The man who has learned to do something better than anyone else, has learned to do a common
thing in an uncommon manner, is the man who has a power and influence that no

Analyzing Satire and Parody in Blazing Saddles
No one is born a racist bigot. In other words, racial bigotry or racial prejudice is not genetically
or biologically determined... Therefore, if most people spoke out about racism, it would be the
first step towards a revolutionary change. Dr. Charles Quist Adade Mel Brooks Blazing Saddles,
sheds light to the cultural problems of the Westernera through satire with elements of parody
within. John Vogel describes Blazing Saddles as The Ultimate Western Spoof. The problem of

Some of the features that are to become key elements of the genre are to be found in early silent
Westerns from the late 1890s and early 1900s (Westerns). Since this time, many of the famous films
have become household names. For some people, the reason they have been introduced to this film
genre is because of their grandparents or parents. For others, they may have a genuine interest to
understand this culture that has transformed itself to fit with a new era of time. Although these
films have been able to generate great amounts of revenue, they are full of underlying elements that
show the cultural issues of that time period. Moreover, some of these elements may not be
noticeable to everyone at first, but that is where the satire and parody come into play.
Satire is a technique employed by writers to expose and criticize foolishness and corruption of an

The Minimum Driving Age Should Be Raising The Driving Age
The minimum driving age should not be raised or lowered. In Illinois, for example, the driving
age is 16 years old. At a first glance, it seems better to wait until teens are older to begin driving.
However, it is apparent that no matter what age a person starts driving, it is up to the driver to
determine how safely he or she will drive. It would be pointless to raise the drivingage for many
reasons. The 16 year old requirement to receive a driver s licenseis a standard and common rule.
All but a few states use this standard. The driving age should be 16 because accidents happen to
everyone, 16 year olds should learn responsibility, 16 year olds are not the only immature
humans, and 16 year olds have good mental development. Firstly, accidents happen to everyone.
People believe that the reason younger teens are more likely to experience a car accident or
wreck is that they have the least experience. That is not always the case. If the age is moved to
18, for example, 18 year olds are still just as inexperienced as the 16 year olds. Teens who have
little practical experience of driving in the real world will be just as dangerous at any age. Until
they have received practice, these drivers are potentially threatening. Driving is a skill that has to
be learned. One must develop this skill through experience. Secondly, 16 year olds need to learn
responsibility. By the time children are 16, they need to take on priorities for themselves such as
personal transportation.

Safety Management System Essay
Safety Management Systems (SMS) have been presented as the future state of commercial aviation.
The objective of this capstone is to have a better understanding of the SMS role in aviation. At
United Airlines for example, SMS Corrective Action is used as a reporting tool during the
performance of the safety risk management. SMS is characterized by four key elements also known
as the four pillars (icao.int). They are, safety risk management, safety policy, safety assurance and
safety promotion. Those pillars are the foundation of SMS, therefore, regroup all the main factors
that affect the commercial and general aviation industry safety. Safety Management System (SMS),
according to the International Civil Aviation Organization(ICAO) is a systematic approach to
managing safety, such as organizational structures, accountabilities, policies, and procedures
(icao.int). Unfortunately, couple years ago, as the aviation industry was getting more and more
attention from people, airline owners did not pay attention to safety, it was the race for profit not
safety. Customer well being came before employee s satisfaction or health. Consequently, there
were more employees injured while working due to the lack of safety; aircraft accidents occurred
more frequently and caused the death of hundreds of people, and the loss of equipment. To resolve
these problems, airlines and aviation professionals around the world, with the help of the ICAO felt

The Myth of Psyche
THE MYTH OF PSYCHE
(excerpted from http://www.mythicjourneys.org/newsletter_jul05_transitions_bolen.html )
As most of you know, psyche is the Greek word for soul. It s also the Greek word for butterfly. If
you have a protagonist in a story whose name is Psyche, you might expect that she will go
through a major transition and crisis. Will she survive it? Will she come through and be
transformed, or will she die? That s one way of looking at the
Psyche myth. Those of you who heard Robert Bly s White Bear story on the first day of this
conference heard a variation of the Eros and Psyche myth.
The form that Psyche broke was the understanding with her unseen lover who came every night.

What good is knowing that you are in a very dysfunctional relationship, if you haven t the
capacity...that is the symbol of the knife...to draw a boundary, to discriminate, to cut it off, to end
the relationship if it turns out that what you see really is negative?
In this part of the story, Psyche takes both symbols in her hand. As you know, when she raises the
lamp and sees her unseen lover, her unknown bridegroom, he turns out to be the immature god of
love, Eros. Immature in that he was carrying on this secret affair. He had promised his mother, the
goddess Aphrodite, that he would punish Psyche who was so identified with the goddess
because of her beauty that the goddess s shrines were ignored. People were worshipping a human
girl as if she was a goddess, and the goddess plotted revenge for what psychologically is true. If
you identify with an archetype, you lose your humanity, your individuality. You get inflated by it.
You get taken over by it. You do get Aphrodite s revenge.
In this case Aphrodite had told her son Eros to aim his arrows at Psyche in punishment so that
she would fall in love with the vilest of men. This is the negative power of Aphrodite and Eros:
to have Psyche fall in love with someone who would really be vile for her and her development.
Instead Eros sees Psyche and falls in love with her himself. He decides to keep all that from
Mother, and so he s been having this clandestine, hidden affair

Musical theatre started in the fifteenth century, in Greece. They incorporated music and dance into
their performances, which many were comedy based. Slowly, music and dance was integrated into
Roman theatre as well. In the 1700 1800 s, Opera became a popular musical entertainment to the
British, French and Germans. They enjoyed ballad operas which included popular tunes at the
time with comedy or sentimental plays, such as John Gay s The Beggar s Opera performed in
1728 (http://www.odl.ox.ac.uk/balladoperas/what.php) Many of these opera s were mimicked
and comic operas with original scores and many romantic plot based plays. Many believe that
musical theatre is a descended of Operas, however Operas are actually spoofs of Greek musicals
as the artists in the Renaissance Times were trying to bring out Greek music that faded over many
years.

Grimm Brothers Cinderella
In the famous story of Cinderella, what do you think is the theme or main lesson of Cinderella?
The theme of Cinderella is bad people never succeed and good people will always prevail. The
Grimm Brothers Cinderella presents the theme of the Cinderella Archetype the best. The three
different examples that best present the theme in Grimm Brothers Cinderellaare a bird takes out
both of the stepsisters eyes for mistreating Cinderella poorly, making fun of Cinderella and not
giving her a dress , and making Cinderella be their maid and in the end the stepsisters miserably
live with no eyes and with either no heels or no toes.

If you were to compare Charles Perrault with the Grimm Brothers they both wrote in the
beginning that the stepsisters treat her poorly but in the end it is different because in the
Grimm Brothers the sisters get consequences from birds. In the Charles Perrault Cinderella they
forgave Cinderella for all of their wickedness and Cinderella accepts the apologization and gives
them lodgings in the palace and 2 lords of the court. Only in the Grimm Brothers Cinderella, she
has to pick up lentils that her stepsisters throw down for her to pick up. The Charles Perrault
Cinderella difference that was stated affects the theme because since the sisters apologized to
Cinderella she gave them a lodging and 2 lords which disagrees with the theme a little bit
because the theme states that bad people never succeed. The first part doesn t work because the
stepsisters didn t get a consequence in the Charles Perrault. In the Grimm Brothers one they did
and in the Charles Perrault they got to live in the palace. Thatt is kind of like succeeding so that
crosses out that bad people never succeed but the good people succeeding still works because in
the end Cinderella gets married in both stories. The Cinder Maid and the Grimm Brothers are
amazingly similar. They are

A Leader Within A Sport Organization
Consider the discussion of various sources of power as related to leadership. Provide a discussion
of how a leader within a sport organization (be sure to identify this leader) uses those sources of
power when exercising leadership behavior.
Sport Leadership in the 21st Century discussed the theory of leadership and the sources of powers
that leaders tend to use in order to have influence over a group or individual and provides the
ability to change another person s behavior, actions, or attitude (5). The sources of power that are
mentioned in the reading are: Reward Power, Coercive Power, Legitimate Power, Referent Power,
Expert Power, and Informational Power.
A leader in a sport organization that I feel showcases all the sources of power would be the
President of the New York Knicks, Phil Jackson. Whether he was in the position of a player,
coach, or administration, he showcased his leadership traits. While showcasing his leadership
skills, the sources of power were evident. Reward power is the condition in which a leader has the
ability or authority to reward their followers. As President of the team, he completely has the
ability to reward people. For example, when hiring Derek Fisher to coach the Knicks, his contract
came equipped with incentives and bonuses. Although those incentives aren t common knowledge,
one could assume that Fisher would receive a bonus if the Knicks were to win a certain amount of
games or advanced to a certain round in the playoffs. Along with

Employee Rights in the Workplace
Abstract Our world of technological advances is growing day by day. So much so, in fact, that
new laws are created to help determine the legal responsibilities and actions to be taken if an
incident occurs. The advantages and disadvantages of monitoring and being monitored will be
discussed. Some of the laws that represent the employer and employee as well as why an
employer would want to monitor an employee will also are discussed. Although employee
monitoring is beneficial to an employer for a variety of reasons, it is better for an employer to
leave an employees private life away from the workplace private.

(В¶6) A second reason would be to track the amount of time an employee spends away from the
computer or how long the employees computer is idle. (В¶6).
If we, as employees put ourselves in the employer s shoes, we would want to know if our
employees were being productive for the job that they were hired to do. If someone were to
perform a search on the Internet for employee monitoring tools, he or she would find that the
market is flooded with these types of tools. In 1993, there were an estimated 27 million worldwide
employees being monitoring in the workplace and that number is still growing (В¶8).
Advantages and Disadvantages of Monitoring Some of the advantages of employee monitoring
are that email use can be limited, viruses can be prevented from corrupting company computer
systems, inappropriate acts and uses of language can be intercepted before any harm is done,
and companies can stop leaks of proprietary information. Some of the disadvantages of employee
monitoring are, as stated earlier, an employees feeling of lack of trust, a feeling of no privacy at
work, and the possibility of employers being sued by employees for fear that their privacy has
been violated. One type of violation that can occur happened to a Massachusetts college secretary
while she was changing clothes in a place she thought was safe. (Kitchen, 2006). She felt violated
because her boss never informed her that she was being videotaped.

A Research On Holistic Care
Power of Prayers Aru Narayanasamy s (2006) qualitative research on holistic care focused on the
effects Narayanasamy s previous empirical studies have had on nursing education. In today s
society, holistic care this is not considered as a mean of medical intervention. But yet it can provide
a profound healing power for patients by giving them hope and a sense of purpose. For instance, by
praying, individuals satisfy their spiritual needs and strengthen their belief in higher power.
Believing that a higher power has the ability to heal will provide emotional and spiritual support for
those who have faith. Although previous studies (Koening, 1998; Write, 2002) demonstrating the
positive effects of prayers on individuals with health complications, still the medical field
professionals are reluctant of accepting and practicing this belief in their treatment interventions. To
be able to answer above question, of whether previous studies on holistic studies have affected
nursing education, Narayanasamy s study relied heavily on action research in which he reviewed
large amount of previous primary qualitative research conducted on the same topic. Additionally,
Narayanasamy incorporated surveys in this research to get the current state of nurses holistic care
practices. Participants in the survey consisted of nurses representing adult, child and mental health

Essay on Moral Conflict in Antigone
The major moral conflict in Antigone by Sophocles is the conflict over which value is most
fundamental. The play presents the moral conflict over whether the god s law or the city s law is
more powerful. This seems to be the most prominent theme. The conflict arises mainly between the
tragic heroes Antigoneand her uncle in law Creon, King of Thebes. The city of Thebes had been
through a war in which Antigone and her sister Ismene have lost both of their brothers to it,
Eteocles and Polyneices. Eteocles s fighting for Thebes was buried and honored as a hero. (lines

(line 89)
When a messenger comes to Creon, bringing the news that Antigone has buried her brother, he
begins his arguments why Antigone has broken the law. He begins by stating that a man shows
what he is made of by his skill in rule and law. In other words, the law is everything and as a
ruler, he must do everything for his country. He considers Polyneices an enemy of the city and a
threat to the security of the city as well. Thus Polyneices will be called a traitor in life and in
death and dishonored. The scene when Antigone and Creon face each other is the opportunity
for both to defend themselves. Creon questions Antigone. She bases her responses on that the
city laws proclaiming her as illegal are not the laws of Zeus or laws proclaimed by gods, but rather,
laws made by a man that one day will also die. She will honor her brother s death because this is
what the gods have proclaimed for all mankind. (lines 460 463)
In the dialogue between Creon and Antigone she also defends herself when he questions her as to
why an enemy should be honored. She responds by saying she loved her brothers and her family,
and they are not her enemies. Creon also asked Antigone why she was the only one defying him.
She answers him by saying that there are many others who do not speak out because they fear him.
(lines 508 509) Antigone offers one last argument in stating that she loves her family and will
welcome death because she

Japanese Comfort Women
Japanese Comfort Women
It is estimated that between one and two hundred thousand female sex slaves were forced to
deliver sexual services to Japanese soldiers, both before and during World War II. These women
were known as comfort women and the Imperial Conference, which was composed of the emperor,
representatives from the armed forces and the main Cabinet ministers, approved their use by
Japanese soldiers. (Walkom)
The term comfort women refers to the victims of a premeditated systematic plan originated and
implemented by the government of Japan to enslave women considered inferior and subject them
to repeated mass rapes, said Michael D. Hausefeld, one of over 35 lawyers in his firm representing
the former sexual prisoners in a class ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Japan, infected women were killed. Their food was mixed with cyanide, their bodies taken to a
cave and finally, the cave was blown up with a grenade.
The comfort houses made money off these women and it is believed that the Japanese
government paid them, as most of the soldiers paid by coupons. As soon as the war was finished,
the Japanese Imperialist guards disappeared without trace. Most comfort women describe the
experience this way, Suddenly, the soldiers came no more, and upon asking we found that the war
had ended. In other regions, as the Japanese committed harikari , the women were forced to do the
same. In extreme cases, the women were put in a cave and blown up.
After the war, many of the comfort women were too sick to be moved and were taken under the
care of the American army. Most of the women were left with no place to go, as they were in a
strange country with no money, and were too humiliated to go home. According to one comfort
woman, my body s wasted, therefore I do not dare go home in fear of being ignored and looked
down upon.
Even after the war ended, the comfort women were not free. Their guilty minds and inferiority
complexes kept them from returning home and they stayed in foreign countries. The small amount
that married, were often forced to separate after the fact that they were comfort women was known,
or they were divorced because they could not have children.

Analysis Of The Book Redeployment By Phil Klay Essay
In the United States, thousands of men and woman join the army every year. Post war trauma
effects can influence the emotional and psychological state of the soldier when coming back
from combat or reentering civilian life, however, people are not fully aware of such problem.
Winner of the 2014 National Book Award for fiction, Phil Klay in his first book Redeployment,
delivers readers a unique experience to the front lines of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq
through the narratives of different characters and their experiences. The first chapter
Redeployment exposes the life of a soldier reentering civilian life, who takes action for the life of
his suffering dog Vicar after killing hundreds of dogs during the war while having to address his
post war emotional and psychological state. The last chapter of Redeployment, Ten Kliks South,
a Lance Corporal gives the readers an insight of his emotional and psychological state after a
mass shooting on a nearby location. In consequence of his lack of experience in the battlefield, the
Lance Corporal is faced with several questions, while searching for the true responsible for the
fatalities caused by the U.S. soldiers. Both chapters demonstrate a connection as they portray the
effects of the war on the emotional and psychological state of the main characters of the two
chapters discussed. Such stories help bring awareness to the readers about the importance in
understanding how situations can affect the life of soldiers in real life,

The Life of Alexander Plutarch
In Life of Alexander, Plutarch employs extensive methods to depict Alexander as a man of both
great ambition and self control, despite Alexander s degeneration of character by the end of his
life. In the modern world, the regression from just conqueror to unrestrained tyrant is completely
congruent with the contemporary concept of ambiguous morality. In the ancient world, however,
everything is expressed and understood in clear constructs; therefore, one s character cannot
change within a lifetime it can only be revealed. The history of Alexander the Great is well
known, so Plutarch has to address common knowledge and beliefs while persuading the audience
to believe in his portrayal of Alexander. Plutarch establishes Alexander as a great ruler whose out
of character actions are made sensible with reinterpretations of situations and are neutralized with
stories proving his positive traits. Through these methods, Plutarch successfully resolves the issue
of Alexander s conflicts in character and is able to create a convincible and consistent character.
Plutarch s portrayal of Alexander as a just king is challenged by the infamous destruction of
Thebes. Alexander leading his army to destroy Thebes and massacre its population is characteristic
of a cruel tyrant, not a just king. To resolve this, Plutarch describes Alexander as wishing to give
her still a chance to repent of what she had done, he merely demanded the surrender of Phoenix and
Prothytes and proclaimed an amnesty

22 November, 2014 A Voice in Music: The Messages in Music of the Classic and Romantic Eras
Many aspects of the way people lived have changed between the times of the Romantic era and the
Classic era. Music and the Enlightenment were very big helps to this major change between eras
and in the way the world worked and how society functioned. The Enlightenment and the curiosity
of man was the cause of the exploration and discovery of new lands all around the world. These
historical landmarks were never forgotten due to the evidence being put into the literature and
musical compositions that were written at the time. These stories, songs, and operas contain hidden
messages and aspects in the music, such as certain rhythms and dynamics, that specifically refer
directly to the eras stated previously. Artists like Mozart and Haydn, and composers of operalike
Giuseppe Verdi, all have contributed to putting details of the events of the time period into their
works. These genius designers have succeeded in displaying the Romantic and Classic eras in
their music. Giuseppe Verdi was one of the greatest and most famous opera composers to live
during the Romantic era. His operas, which take place in Italy, perfectly painted a clear
description of the events and social life of the time period in which his musical pieces were
written. His two most most known operas were La Traviata and Rigoletto. La Traviata follows a

Research Paper On Ivory
Ivory Is it worth it?
Everyday elephants and rhinos are being poached in order to get their tusks and horns. These
tusks and horns are made of ivory which is sold for very large sums. Many things are being done
to stop poaching but elephants and rhinos are still being poached.
People in Asia mainly China are the main buyers of ivory from illegally poached rhinos and
elephants. The ivory business is a multi million dollar business. They buy elephant tusks for $1,500
per pound. Rhino horns are $45,000 per pound, or $6,000 for 100 grams. Many things are trying
to be done but there is still illegal ivory trading. There is a near total ban on ivory in the US. The
Chinese government has become stricter so people trade in Vietnam and Laos where there is a
less strict government. The main buyers of ivory are in Asia but people don t want to change their
ways so many people still participate in the business of ivory trading.
Elephants and rhinos are disappearing at an alarming rate due to illegal poaching. Many elephants
are being killed everyday and they could soon be extinct. Tanzania s elephant population decreased
by two thirds and Mozambique s fell by 40%. Elephants have dropped in population from more

Biography of Fredrick Douglass
When you think of great Americans in our history there are countless that come to mind. Some

arguably had the greatest impact on American society, especially African American society, in
the nineteenth century. Douglass is credited as being an abolitionist, author, editor, and
diplomat. He used literature, books, newspapers, and even speeches, to leave a long lasting
mark on our society. Douglass advised presidents and lectured to thousands about different

Chrysler Team-Based Approach
Team Based Implementation
Chrysler started pushing power to the floor in the late 1980 s, resulting in greater quality and
efficiency, as they broke down the symbolic walls between engineering, styling, and production
departments and formed platform teams (Zatz, 2006). The automotive industry relies on mass
assembly line production which requires large groups of employees to work in concert linking a
series of interchangeable parts in an effort to finalize assembly. Chrysler provides an excellent
model to discuss a team based approach as it relates to increased productivity and effective cost
reductions. Furthermore, the Daimler Benz and Chrysler merger in 1998 outlines Chrysler s fall

If good teamwork promotes productivity and quality improvement, then why are productivity and
quality levels sometimes lower in a team environment (Tudor, 1996)? The truth is more companies
fail at achieving a team based approach than succeed, which lends credibility to the significant steps
that must be taken to successfully implement and sustain a team based organization. If
implemented efficiently, it can afford an organization excellent coverage across all its business
operations.
In May 1998, when the impending merger of Daimler Benz and Chrysler was announced, it
heralded the biggest cross border industrial merger ever (Sarosi, 2016). The Daimler Benz and
Chrysler merger would systematically pair two of the largest executive boards in the car

necessary first step in their corporate merger. Many of the management and employee issues that
would arise during the merger stemmed from diversity in communication styles and cross culture
differences. However, it makes the task of basic team based implementation and adherence to the
founding principles no less significant. The idea of less management, improving relationships and
increased productivity outline the foundation of a team based approach. The Daimler Benz and

The Central Dilemma Of Environmental Ethics
The central dilemma in environmental ethics is determining the value of nature: what kind of
value does it have, what aspects of the environment have value, and from what or whom does
environmental value ultimately derive? Many philosophers have proposed answers to these
inquiries, but every ethic is weak in one or more of these areas. Holmes Rolston III, an American
philosopher, preacher, and naturalist, has proposed a deontological argument that addresses each of
the key subjects in the debate surrounding the valuation of nature (Holmes Rolston III, 2016, para.
1 2, 4). Although several essential components of his case include numerous references to
macroevolution, an aspect with which Young Earth Christians would disagree, his ethic is logical,
well crafted, and on the whole aligns with a Biblical perspective of Creation. It would not seem at
first that a former Presbyterian pastor would be especially interested in the realm of environmental
philosophy, yet Rolston s environmental ethic is surprisingly elegant (Holmes Rolston III, 2016,
para. 2). His overall ideology can be summarized in the following statement: Values exist in the
world objectively apart from human choice or human or animal consciousness (Smillie, n.d., para.
1). Rolston s ethic is informed by teleology, from whence is derived his object with will argument.
This philosophy is based on the idea that all organisms have purpose in living, namely life itself;
thus, valueresides in the object with will

The Importance Of Being A Community Engagement Intern
Introduction
For the fall semester, I have the privilege of being a community engagement intern for the Office of
the Attorney General for the District of Columbia. My supervisor, Lateefah Williams is the
community engagement specialist whose main goal is to create a liaison with the Attorney General
and the constituents of Washington D.C. As an intern, my main role is assisting Ms. Williams on
programs that educate the constituents on issues that affect the community, administrative tasks,
and the implementation of future events within the district. I started my internship towards the end
of September for the sole purposes of comprehending the advocacy, awareness, and diligence that
goes into building ties within the community.

Throne Of Blood Macbeth Comparison
Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and cauldron bubble (Shakespeare 119). Fate has never
been in the hands of Macbeth since the appearance of the Weird Sisters. Just as their chant goes, the
Three Sisters symbolize fate mixed with mischief and witchcraft. Therefore, the witch s actions
would need to incorporate both the eccentric and divine personality from living through time,
which can be conveyed with the distinct point of views, facial expressions, and the approach of the
scene setting. The 2015 version of Macbethclip only centered on Act 4 where Macbeth searches
for the witches and meets the first apparition. These short clip was able to provide the perfect
portrayal of the witches and the resolution of Macbeth after hearing the prophecy. The witches
adopt a mysterious whisper when they communicate their lines, and the camera work was able to
capture every witch in their own peculiar behavior. The age of the Three Witchesvary, further

Unlike the previous clip, Throne of Blood is an adaptation taking place within Japan. The setting
and designs were just as adequate and comprised of the same plot. While the was only a few
short seconds centering on the old man with the same role as the witches, he was able to reflect
the same mysterious, all knowing prophecies. Just like the old man says, life is short like the
flower; the foreshadowing of Macbeth s death sends shivers and dread within the audience
especially when Macbeth continues killing leading to hallucinations. Therefore, the only drawback
within this clip was was not enough focus on the character of the witch, but the audience experience

Paleolithic Cave Art Research Paper
Paleolithic cave art dates back to around 82,000 years ago.
After all, Paleolithic cave art is the oldest art that is known to the world today. The art in the caves
was representational art to express what was going on in their daily lives, such as the food they ate,
the weapons they used and their hunting lives were documented. Therefore, A large portion of
Paleolithic art was created to express ideas to teach the future generations of hunters and gatherers.
Not only would the stone age people express what they were hunting through drawings, but they
would also keep an inventory as well. For example, they would tally how many animals were
killed that day. They used it as future reference for animal migration patterns. This was helpful
because these people were Nomads, people who don t stay in one place, mostly because of
agriculture, hunting and weather. Some have argued that such images are records of hunts that
served not only to inventory the amount of animals killed as well as future references for animal
migration patterns. (The writers at the New World Encyclopedia, 2013). The cave art also provided

useful weapon they used during this period was the axe. The use of the axe was similar to the use
of the bow and arrow. For example, the axe was also used for killing animals such as pigs or cows.
A techniques that they used that made them successful was fire. Another technique that was used in
their everyday hunting lives was knapping. In this case they would knap flaky stones, such as flint,

Enhancing The Gearbox Within The Siva Atom By Decreasing...
As the popularity of cell phones continues to increase, continually having a charged device
becomes of utmost importance. In order to fulfill this need, designers have created portable
chargers, such as the Siva Cycle Atom. The device claims to be 80% efficient and seems to be a
viable solution that could be purchased by many individuals in a commercial setting. The
objective of this project is to determine the feasibility of enhancing the gearbox within the Siva
Atom by decreasing energy losses to improve efficiency. A power storing device that can be

Students who spend hours on campus in a week for studies do not have regular access to
electrical outlets; they are constantly moving from class to class across campus. b. Background
The time used to commute from class to class for students can be used to charge their mobile
devices. There has been similar research conducted in the past. A research conducted in 2009
took an alternating current from a headlight generator and converted it into direct current in
order to charge a cell phone [2]. Another device that has been researched, and prototyped, is the
Siva Cycle Atom. It is a small device that connects to the back axle of a bike and converts
locomotive, mechanical energy into electrical energy. This device can either directly charge a
mobile device, or can charge a removable 1300 mAh battery. As a cyclist rides their bike, the
spinning of the wheel engages the generator within the device. The inside of the device is shown in
Figure 1. Figure 1: Inside the Siva Cycle Atom [3] The spinning of the generator produces current,
transforming the motion of the bicycle into electricity. Since this current varies, it must pass
through electronics to create a consistent current that can travel to either a mobile device or mobile
charger. It claims to be 80% efficient, meaning 80 percent of the energy from pedalling gets
transferred into electrical energy into the device[3]. Even with a high efficiency, the

The China Boom Summary
The China Boom: Why China Will Not Rule the World, by Ho fung Hung. New York: Columbia
University Press, 2016.
Ho fung Hung s work attempts to reconcile the widespread expectation that China s rise would lead
to a fundamental change in the global status quo with the observed fact that China has become
increasingly connected to and one with the global status quo. To do this, he must first examine
China s rise and prove that it upholds the global status quo, and further must look into the origins of
China s rise, going back to the 13th century, to understand why this rise seemingly changed so little
about the global world order.
Hung s stated goals are as follows. First, he aims to outline the historical origins of the capitalist
boom in China as well as the conditions which predicated said boom. He also names four
conceptions against history to explore the global effects of China s capitalist boom and the limit
of that boom. Firstly, he seeks to challenge the notion that China is challenging the United States
neoliberal order. Secondly, he examines the belief that the increasing incomes of poor Chinese
citizens helps to reverse worldwide income polarization. Thirdly, he analyzes the claim that China
s rise is challenging Western dominion over the world, and is radically altering the world order.
Lastly, he plans to evaluate the assertion that China has been emerging as the most powerful driver
of growth since the global financial crisis. He plans to devote a single chapter to the refutation of
each of these views and explanations of why they overstate the importance of China, in addition to
several introductory chapters describing China s rise. He aims to prove with this work that China is
no different than the other major capitalist powers, that its boom is dependent on the global
neoliberal order, that its boom contributes to rampant inequality, and, in sum, that China is just a
foundation of the capitalist status quo.
Hung s first foray into the history behind China s rise centers on the massive influx of American
silver into 17th and 18th century China and how it fueled a commercial revolution. He talks about
the revisionist image of pre capitalist China as simply agrarian, and states that this

Questions On Open Source Software
Introduction
Open source software is used by a heaps of large businesses, take Facebook for example or even the
French tax system. It s an ever growing way for businesses to operate and we are seeing it
become more and more mainstream. Customers are progressively looking for it and therefore more
and more businesses and companies are providing it. Using open source in your business does
present some specific legal issues, generally they can be managed but IT managers should defiantly
be aware of them.
In this white paper I am going to delve deeper into what open source actually is, how some certain
companies use it and getting around the legal issues.
What is open source?
Open source also known as free source is where software is open , and by this it means that the
source code must be open for viewing. A lot of businesses that offer open source software
accomplish their revenue by one of two ways, the first being with the purpose that no one would
have to pay to use the software but in return they would have to pay for support. Then the other
being charging the customer again not for the software itself, but for related services. However,
any work that comes from the open source software must be licensed at no charge.
OSI (Open Source Initiative) are a company dedicated to promoting open source software. They
believe that for software to be open source it needs to meet the credentials of the following with the
intention of allowing enough flexibility to embrace a

Why Hector And Achilles Are Homeric Heroes
It is known that both Hector and Achilles are both Homeric Heroes in their own right. Both men are
fighting for various paralleled reasons. However, both men have very different motivations fueling
them and these motivations cause them to make rash decisions in extenuating conditions. Each man
is motivated simultaneously by family, honor, and pride.
Achilles and Hector both clearly value family. For Achilles his family is the men who fight
beside him. When one of them is killed in battle he makes the passionate verdict to retaliate with
vengeance. His need to destroy his enemies is what eventually seals his fate. To say the least
family is of high priority to Achilles. Hector on the other hand, is not overly concerned with
family in the heat of the war. Yes, he does express concern for their well being should anything
happen to him, nevertheless he gives no sympathy to those who love him. For Hector there are
more important matters to attend to outside the walls of Troy and that is all that matters him. The
war is Hector s first priority. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These men fight for honor, not just privately but publicly as well. This meaning that they are
looking for some inward sense of honor and outward honor from the men they are in arms with. In
Greek terms, both men are looking for their kleos or immortal recognition. Achilles knows of his
predestination which he comes to terms with after the death of Patroclus, and his destruction of
Hector. Achilles identifies with his kleos and pursues it wholeheartedly. Hector desires some form
of kleos, but he truly never claims it. This yearning to have this spiritual immortality is what fuels
him to continue his rampage on the Greeks. Even though this motive is short lived it lead to very
hotheaded decisions meant to earn him honor and glory on the battle

Nurse Driven, Sleep Hygiene Protocol, A Source Of Anxiety...
The inability to sleep is a source of anxiety and stress for patients in the intensive care unit (ICU);
this inability can lead to cardiorespiratory disturbances, immune system dysfunction, impaired
wound healing, hormonal and metabolic imbalances, cognitive changes, and delirium. Through the
use of quiet times and nursing actions that encourage sleep, or, sleep hygiene bundles, nurses can
assist in improving sleep quality in the ICU. These bundles include noise and light reduction,
scheduling routine procedures outside of reserved sleep times, the use of earplugs and eye masks,
and the grouping of nursing care activities to minimize sleep interruptions. The aim of this proposal,
therefore, will be to implement a nursedriven, sleep hygiene protocol, in order to improve patient
care by promoting quality sleep in ICU patients. Barriers to implementation include staff resistance
to the concept, concerns regarding patient care during sleep times and difficulties in coordinating
care with other units. Studies used to gather information for this proposal were published between
the years of 2011 and 2016 and were found in several databases: Academic Search Complete,
Medline, and OVID Journals.

Remedial Costs Are Too High For Csu At Bear
San Jose Mercury News Editorial, authors of Remedial costs are too high for CSU to bear
highlight the San Jose State University policy that took place in 2009. The policy is about
Freshmen students who are required to take remedial classes since their math or English basic
college level aren t good enough. To notice these students that need help ahead of time CSU
created the Early Assessment Program . Even though CSU created the voluntary Early
Assessment Program, which has an essay and two dozen questions that are included in
standardized tests given to juniors, many students didn t pass it. Those students who don t take
the Early Assessment Program or aren t qualified will have to take online tutorials and remedial
classes which take a year to study. Sadly, there ll be no repeat chances for those students who don
t pass their remedial courses. They may have to hire tutors or take courses off campus to gain the
basic knowledge they should have received in high school, as the authors said. The author assume
that it s both students and their high school s responsibility for college readiness, and I strongly

Effects Of Decolonization Of Burma
Alexey Skyban (14201708)
Intro International Politics
13 October 2014
Unwillingness to do what is Right
Decolonization after 1945 undoubtedly caused more harm than good. Inevitably, colonized
countries across the globe would have eventually requested sovereignty. Today, many decolonized
countries are beginning to prosper and flourish; however, their path to such a state was long and
challenging. The fluke in decolonization was not that it happened, but the way it did. Only
concerned with self interest and prosperity domestically, European Empires were blinded to the
consequences of abandoning their colonies without any guidance or support. Poor decolonization
of Burma resulted in widespread oppression, downfall of the economy, and violation of human
rights. Britain left Burma with a very weak government unable to control its own country. As a
result, the democratic government was overthrown and a ruthless tyrant rose to power.
Before British rule, Burma was a wealthy, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

destabilized the country even further. As the economy collapsed, U Nu was forced out of office by
General Ne Win in order to restore law and order . U Nu was re elected in February 1960, but two

The History Of The Peloponnesian War
The The History of the Peloponnesian War authored by Thucydides in 431 B.C.E and translated by
Richard Crawley expressively illustrates the plague of Athens and its impact on the population. The
work provides a vivid account as to the amount of suffering and disorder consuming the Athenians
during the second year of the Peloponnesian war. Furthermore, Thucydideswrote the piece in hopes
of broadening the scope of current events at the time which affected the citizens. Additionally, he
sought to inform future generations of the plague so that they could recognize it or conduct further
studies should it make an appearance again. From this translation, Thucydides demonstrates a
notable interest and most importantly provides sufficient detail in presenting the symptoms he
observed or experienced himself through this plague. However, while the detailed account appears
thorough at a first glance, I would consider this a subjective and an inadequate testimony of the
Athens plague with some loose ends.
According to this work, Thucydides wrote a few statements that he possibly acquired from
unknown sources. For instance, Thucydides wrote, it was said that it had broken out in many
places , which begs the simple question who said? In another instance, he wrote it first began, it is
said, in the parts of Ethiopia above Egypt . From this statement, what stands out again is who said.
When Thucydides included it is said , who is he referring to? Thucydides makes no reference to his

Common Childhood Illness Research Paper Childhood Illnesses Chickenpox is one of the most common childhood illnesses, it causes a red rash itchy rash that turns into fluid filled spots, it can vary from a small rash to the spots covering the whole body. The spots are more likely to appear on the face, around the ears, under arms and belly. The child is likely to have a fever and due to the spots being so itchy they will feel uncomfortable and irritated, mild painkillers can temporarily alleviate this however there I no found treatment to stop chickenpox. The incubation period for chickenpox is between one and three weeks; its most infectious time is between one and two days before the rash appears, but it continues to be infectious until all the blisters have crusted over. This means that if a child has got chickenpox they must be away from the nursery for 2 3 weeks so that other children are protected. General colds/coughs are normal in children and they will on average have around 8 a year, this is because they have an immunity to the common cold however as they get older they will get colds less as their immunity is growing stronger with each cold they get. • 4. The Roles of Cultural Belief Systems in Respects to Theme... Pedro Paramo is a novel that cannot be fully understood without consideration of its rich cultural background. It is this Mexican background, which informs so much of the novel, providing the main conflict. The narrator of the tale remarks some villages have the smell of misfortune while describing the locale of Pedro ParГЎmo, the small Mexican town of Comala where the story plays out on many levels (83). On the surface level, this story is merely about a tyranical man who ruins his hometown of Comala. But in reality he does much more than that, his presence detroys the town completely, driving everyone out and converting the town to a type of purgatory. This deeper harm that he causes, by damning the rest of his townsmen is the evil... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I would walk into town to see what the uproar was about, and this is what I would see: just what we re seing now. Nothing. No one. The streets as empty as they are now (41). The streets are always empty in Comala. It has been left completely to ruin and is now inhabited only by the spirits of those who once lived here. But even spirits must have a reason for staying and not going on to heaven? In following with the Catholic faith, the people of Comala must wait in purgatory, the Refuge of Sinners until they have repaid the sins they have committed (16). The town is a hotbed of sinning, the very image of damnation , it is said That town sits on the coals of the earth, at the very mouth of hell. They say that when people from there die and go to hell, they come back for a blanket (52, 6). The instances in which people are actually able to get out are few and far between, as seen by the quote they ve gone so far that it s easier not to come back. He s been trying and trying to leave, and I think this is the time (56). This is owing to the abject poverty of the town, leaving people unable to pay their tithes in order to make it to heaven. These poor soulds are not even kept in remembrance, so they may never reach heaven. As their descendants remark we don t even make the effort to pray for them anymore, to help them out of their purgatory (52). • 5. Individualism Is Celebrated As An Achievement Of Our... In our modern society, individualism is celebrated as an achievement of our culture, economy, and success. It basks in the light of personal success overthrowing the success of the community, and believes that to be personally successful is more important than the success and solidarity among the people you identify with. In the 19th century of Latin America, this ideology was forced onto a society that perceived itself as a collective culture. The success of the majority was more important than the success of the individual to the non Europeans of Latin America. To be successful for the community was success in itself, as you were helping the group. If the community suffered, then you would suffer as well. There was not one person in the community who was at fault for the majority failure, but the whole community was at fault. The European individualistic ideology took the traditional collective perspective and destroyed it with class systems, culture conflict, economic change, and lack of options for the people of Latin America to change the course of their land s ideologies. The beginning of the indoctrination of individualismwas the divide between the eliteand the folk in Latin American. The elite people of Latin America were those from the mother country of the colony, or descendents of people from the mother country. They represented the wealth, skills, power, and birthright of those in the highest class in Latin America (5). The folk of Latin America were the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Persuasive Essay About Thanksgiving Food nimals, I think it s kind of gross, but I don t have the commitment to say I m a vegetarian. Anyway, I don t enjoy eating animals that much, it s just not for me but that s a personal problem. But that s the main focus of Thanksgiving! People just call is Turkey Day, sometimes! So, there s one holiday food, OUT! Next in line, we have stuffing. Mmm don t you just love good old fashioned wet bread to fill your genetically modified turkey s carcass? Ew! What? Why is that a thing? I don t need to argue this further, I think you get it. The only other key player in the Thanksgivingmeal that comes to mind is pumpkinpie. Pumpkin spice is a fan favorite, starting early September people go wild over everything flavored to taste like that festive squash. That s another one of those foods that I just don t like, I m a picky eater, it s fine. So, I ll let everyone have that, but that does not make Thanksgiving more enjoyable to me. The only Thanksgiving food that I can thoroughly enjoy, are mashed potatoes. Those are glorious, I m not mad at them but my family gets a little upset at me when that s all I eat for Thanksgiving dinner so it doesn t even count. Major portion of Thanksgiving celebration is the food, and I m not into it. Boom! Holiday ruined! I mean, if I m going to overeat, it might as well be foods I enjoy! But, it gets worse. Starting in like Kindergarten, we re taught that the first Thanksgiving was celebrated by the pilgrims and WampanoagIndians. That s cute and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Raft In The Raft 2004 , Bill Viola used various visual tools to communicate with the viewers by making the video in a slow motion. Not only this, he also used lights, colors and props in a creative way to make the video look more attractive as well as more informative. The main reason behind artist using the slow motion is to allow the viewers to carefully look at the movements as well as the activity of each people. Similarly, he also used lights to make us see the various age group peoples properly along with the facial expression. Not only this, he also zoomed in and out, which allows us to focus back and forth and make our mindthinking that there are huge group of peoples. Likewise, he also used the colors as well as props to denote each person getting engaged in something and making themselves busy. However, the water comes from both the sides which adds a different level in the video. Before there was ignorance and thoughtless but after the strike of the water they believed in unity along with building up the connection and awareness as well as trust. I think power has been reflected in this piece in two ways: the physical power of the water, and the power of a group of people with a common ground. Nineteen eager students towered over. Next! , it was my turn to sit in the glider. I climbed in, swinging my legs over the fuselage onto both rudder pedals. Put your seatbelt on. , Jer said sternly. Between The Revolution and Civil War, during the period known as market revolution , American economy has been swiftly transforming, and the changes broke up the country into North and South. This division was determined by the different approaches to the economic growth and labor organization. Northern economy has been converted into new commercial economy with new wages paid labor organization. Southern economy remained depended on slavery. The growth in cotton and crops production did not cause the change in economic system, but caused the increase in demand in slaves. Cotton boom required more production, and more production required more labor that meant more slaves. The number of slaves increased from 700.000 in 1790 to more than 1,5 million by 1820. For Southern states the idea of abolition was something incredible and impossible. Southern planters saw slavery as the only way of labor organization for black people. They believed that the slavery was the only conditions in which blacks could exist and that is why they could not be freed they did not fit for freedom. Slaves were considered as property and therefore could not be treated as free people. For Southern planters the violence, both physical and sexual, was the norms of morality, they believed that as soon as slaves are property they could not have feelings and emotions and all what blacks need was to be feed, dressed, and have shelter. Washington spoke before an integrated mass at the Cotton States and International Exposition in Atlanta, Georgia. Although the organizers of the exposition worried that the demeanor of the public would not be prepared for such a progressive move outside of their innate social norm, they decided that inviting a black speaker would impress Northern visitors with the evidence of racial progress in the South. We still appear to respect and value a record deal with all the perks or stardom over an understanding of real estate or property ownership and acquiring an industrial skill. To the overvaluing of entertainment, we can today add athletics and urban pharmaceuticals . We still have too many of those who believe it is of more value to get while they can at any means necessary than starting and building a successful career and business. While entertainment, sports, and other forms of making do each have their value to those who find it suitable, these are not foundational to the sure success of a people. These, if sought prematurely and without the proper foundation will not provide for lasting success, and may in fact cause failure to achieve the lasting success of a society. As I took a step and researched more on the late leader it is clear that you must understand one thing in order to keep all of Booker T. Washington s writings and ideas in proper perspective. He loved the pure value of work. He worked tirelessly himself and taught that a job well done was reward enough in itself. • 13. The Minimum Driving Age Should Be Raising The Driving Age The minimum driving age should not be raised or lowered. In Illinois, for example, the driving age is 16 years old. At a first glance, it seems better to wait until teens are older to begin driving. However, it is apparent that no matter what age a person starts driving, it is up to the driver to determine how safely he or she will drive. It would be pointless to raise the drivingage for many reasons. The 16 year old requirement to receive a driver s licenseis a standard and common rule. All but a few states use this standard. The driving age should be 16 because accidents happen to everyone, 16 year olds should learn responsibility, 16 year olds are not the only immature humans, and 16 year olds have good mental development. Firstly, accidents happen to everyone. People believe that the reason younger teens are more likely to experience a car accident or wreck is that they have the least experience. That is not always the case. If the age is moved to 18, for example, 18 year olds are still just as inexperienced as the 16 year olds. Teens who have little practical experience of driving in the real world will be just as dangerous at any age. Until they have received practice, these drivers are potentially threatening. Driving is a skill that has to be learned. One must develop this skill through experience. Secondly, 16 year olds need to learn responsibility. By the time children are 16, they need to take on priorities for themselves such as personal transportation. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Life of Alexander Plutarch In Life of Alexander, Plutarch employs extensive methods to depict Alexander as a man of both great ambition and self control, despite Alexander s degeneration of character by the end of his life. In the modern world, the regression from just conqueror to unrestrained tyrant is completely congruent with the contemporary concept of ambiguous morality. In the ancient world, however, everything is expressed and understood in clear constructs; therefore, one s character cannot change within a lifetime it can only be revealed. The history of Alexander the Great is well known, so Plutarch has to address common knowledge and beliefs while persuading the audience to believe in his portrayal of Alexander. Plutarch establishes Alexander as a great ruler whose out of character actions are made sensible with reinterpretations of situations and are neutralized with stories proving his positive traits. Through these methods, Plutarch successfully resolves the issue of Alexander s conflicts in character and is able to create a convincible and consistent character. If implemented efficiently, it can afford an organization excellent coverage across all its business operations. In May 1998, when the impending merger of Daimler Benz and Chrysler was announced, it heralded the biggest cross border industrial merger ever (Sarosi, 2016). The Daimler Benz and Chrysler merger would systematically pair two of the largest executive boards in the car manufacturing industry in an attempt to successfully implement a team based approach as a necessary first step in their corporate merger. Many of the management and employee issues that would arise during the merger stemmed from diversity in communication styles and cross culture differences. • 40. The Central Dilemma Of Environmental Ethics The central dilemma in environmental ethics is determining the value of nature: what kind of value does it have, what aspects of the environment have value, and from what or whom does environmental value ultimately derive? Many philosophers have proposed answers to these inquiries, but every ethic is weak in one or more of these areas. Holmes Rolston III, an American philosopher, preacher, and naturalist, has proposed a deontological argument that addresses each of the key subjects in the debate surrounding the valuation of nature (Holmes Rolston III, 2016, para. 1 2, 4). Although several essential components of his case include numerous references to macroevolution, an aspect with which Young Earth Christians would disagree, his ethic is logical, well crafted, and on the whole aligns with a Biblical perspective of Creation. It would not seem at first that a former Presbyterian pastor would be especially interested in the realm of environmental philosophy, yet Rolston s environmental ethic is surprisingly elegant (Holmes Rolston III, 2016, para. 2). His overall ideology can be summarized in the following statement: Values exist in the world objectively apart from human choice or human or animal consciousness (Smillie, n.d., para. 1). Rolston s ethic is informed by teleology, from whence is derived his object with will argument. Therefore, A large portion of Paleolithic art was created to express ideas to teach the future generations of hunters and gatherers. Not only would the stone age people express what they were hunting through drawings, but they would also keep an inventory as well. For example, they would tally how many animals were killed that day. They used it as future reference for animal migration patterns. This was helpful because these people were Nomads, people who don t stay in one place, mostly because of agriculture, hunting and weather. A research conducted in 2009 took an alternating current from a headlight generator and converted it into direct current in order to charge a cell phone [2]. • 47. The China Boom Summary The China Boom: Why China Will Not Rule the World, by Ho fung Hung. New York: Columbia University Press, 2016. Ho fung Hung s work attempts to reconcile the widespread expectation that China s rise would lead to a fundamental change in the global status quo with the observed fact that China has become increasingly connected to and one with the global status quo. To do this, he must first examine China s rise and prove that it upholds the global status quo, and further must look into the origins of China s rise, going back to the 13th century, to understand why this rise seemingly changed so little about the global world order. Hung s stated goals are as follows. First, he aims to outline the historical origins of the capitalist boom in China as well as the conditions which predicated said boom. He also names four conceptions against history to explore the global effects of China s capitalist boom and the limit of that boom. Firstly, he seeks to challenge the notion that China is challenging the United States neoliberal order. Secondly, he examines the belief that the increasing incomes of poor Chinese citizens helps to reverse worldwide income polarization. Thirdly, he analyzes the claim that China s rise is challenging Western dominion over the world, and is radically altering the world order. Lastly, he plans to evaluate the assertion that China has been emerging as the most powerful driver of growth since the global financial crisis. He plans to devote a single chapter to the refutation of each of these views and explanations of why they overstate the importance of China, in addition to several introductory chapters describing China s rise. He aims to prove with this work that China is no different than the other major capitalist powers, that its boom is dependent on the global neoliberal order, that its boom contributes to rampant inequality, and, in sum, that China is just a foundation of the capitalist status quo. Hung s first foray into the history behind China s rise centers on the massive influx of American silver into 17th and 18th century China and how it fueled a commercial revolution. Through the use of quiet times and nursing actions that encourage sleep, or, sleep hygiene bundles, nurses can assist in improving sleep quality in the ICU. Only concerned with self interest and prosperity domestically, European Empires were blinded to the consequences of abandoning their colonies without any guidance or support. Poor decolonization of Burma resulted in widespread oppression, downfall of the economy, and violation of human rights. • 56. The History Of The Peloponnesian War The The History of the Peloponnesian War authored by Thucydides in 431 B.C.E and translated by Richard Crawley expressively illustrates the plague of Athens and its impact on the population. Furthermore, Thucydideswrote the piece in hopes of broadening the scope of current events at the time which affected the citizens. Additionally, he sought to inform future generations of the plague so that they could recognize it or conduct further studies should it make an appearance again. From this translation, Thucydides demonstrates a notable interest and most importantly provides sufficient detail in presenting the symptoms he observed or experienced himself through this plague. However, while the detailed account appears thorough at a first glance, I would consider this a subjective and an inadequate testimony of the Athens plague with some loose ends. According to this work, Thucydides wrote a few statements that he possibly acquired from unknown sources. For instance, Thucydides wrote, it was said that it had broken out in many places , which begs the simple question who said? In another instance, he wrote it first began, it is said, in the parts of Ethiopia above Egypt . From this statement, what stands out again is who said. Plenty of iconic pieces of Americana like farming, mainstream jazz, and the white picket fence have come and gone but the sustainability of Central Park s display of equality, care in environmentally based effects on ambiance, and protection of parkgoers emotional wellbeing will surely stand the test of time for many years to ...
