An Xbox One is a gaming console that is widely popular with the world. It has many game classics
like Call of Duty or Halo. The Xbox franchise started with the original Xbox, then they made in

Edward Abbey Analysis
Thinking like a mountain by Aldo Leopold, Serpents of Paradise by Edward Abbey, but one of
these essays focuses more on the hunting aspects of life. They both care about the environment.
Abbey tries to find out how to avoid thought of killing an animal but to find any way to keep the
wildlife calm and maintained. They describe both situations very well but one is more careful than
the other. In both Leopold and Abbey essays they want to alter their environment but only Abbey
succeeds because only Abbey has the correct knowledge when it comes to the environment.
People care more about the environment when it comes to their job needing to be able to care
about the environment. Like in the essay Thinking like a Mountain Aldo Leopold went hunting in
the forest that was on a mountain called high rimrock. He has devoted himself to beings a
wilderness preservation and wilderness worker. Aldo Leopold spends most of his time out in the
wilderness hunting and supposed to preserve the wilderness. Edward Abbey writes about his
experience as a ranger at Arches National Monument, Utah. He describes his surroundings as an
April morning being bright, clear and calm. He said that about the afternoon is when it starts to
get rough. The wind begins to blow, raising dust and sand in funnel shaped twisters that spin
across that desert briefly, like dancers, and then collapse elements under stress (52). Both Edward
Abbey and Aldo Leopold had jobs that involved them with the places they write about in the
essays. It makes sense to have a job that is involved with the environment because if they didn t
there would a very little chance that anyone would spend that much time at the desert or the
mountains to see an old wolf or a rattle snake that close to them unless they are lucky when it
comes to seeing animals that close.
Leopold, based off the reading he has been hunting for a long time because he goes into detail on
the best ways to hunt deer. He has beliefs that all wolves are detrimental to his hunting
experiences, he says Less wolves equals hunter s paradise (50). Leopold is out in the mountains and
saw an old wolf, and because he believes that if there are no wolves in the area then he will have a

Humans’ Contribution to Climate Change Essay
Climate change is one of the biggest concerns of all nations across the globe. Climate shift refers to
changes in patterns of weather which can be indicated through global warming, natural disasters
and rises in sea level. There is a group of people, climate change skeptics, who argue that climate
change is not the result of human activity, meaning that it is naturally occurring. According to
World Meteorological Organization, natural factors refer to internal factors, which are the
interactions between the atmosphere and ocean, and external factors, such as solar energy
variations and volcanic eruption (United Nation Evironment Programme World Meteorological
Organization, 2006). However, most scientists claim that people also involve in... Show more

Since the beginning of the industrial revolution in recent centuries, the Earth s temperature increases
steadily due to the high concentration of carbon dioxide. The use of energies for transportation,
manufacturing, and electricity generation involve in the burning of fossil fuel. These activities
produce carbon dioxide to the atmosphere and warm up the Earth. As stated by World
Meteorological Organization, The use of fossil fuel currently accounts for 80 to 85% of the carbon
dioxide being added to the atmosphere (United Nation Evironment Programme World
Meteorological Organization, 2006). In fact, the amount of man made carbon emission to the
atmosphere continues to grow everyday although people acknowledge the danger of the extreme
carbon emission. World Meteorological Organization said that the carbon emission rose
significantly from just less than 1 billion tons in 1860 to more than 20 billion tons in 1990 (United
Nation Evironment Programme World Meteorological Organization, 2006). As a result, the Earth s
temperature continues to increase over time. Steffen clearly stated The global average air

Cultural Differences And Their Effects On Leadership
Cultural Differences and Their Effects on Leadership
An Organization success depends on how employees, leaders, groups, and individuals work
together. Now a company is usually ran on a set of foundations that have been laid out in terms
such as, but not limited to, values, beliefs, norms, language, and habits. In order to have a
successful working environment, one must reach out to get to know their employee beliefs,
values, most importantly get to know their employees personalities. Happy leaders, lead happy
workers, who in turn are more dedicated, and willing to put the work in to make the company a
success. In order to maintain a successful running business, you must learn to train, and maintain
happy employees. In this paper we are going to look at Geert Hofstede, social psychologist and
foremost authority on global and organizational cultures, and how he defines six dimensions: Power
Distance, Individualism, masculinity, Uncertain Avoidance, Long Term Orientation, and
Indulgence and how all these dimensions tie into a successful business. I intend to give you the two
countries that I choose to compare using the Hofstede Six Dimensions of culture, to show you have
different cultures impact their work relationships.
National Culture
Hofstede conducted a study on how values in the work environment, are impacted by employee
culture. He defined culture as the collective programming of the mind distinguishing the members

Tim Peake Summary
The Christian Science Monitor article, PUT THE TITLE HERE, PUT THE LINK HERE,

Space debris could be hazardous. In fact, the ISS had to do a planned maneuver to get out of the
way of a larger piece of debris. For many years debris from inoperable satellites has accumulated in
Earths orbit. The trash left from these satellites is posing an increasing threat to current missions.
In the year 1998, The National Research Council (NRC) of the National Academy of Sciences
equated the danger from space debris to that of a spacecraft s launch or reentry. And since that
time, the amount of debris in space has more than doubled. Another issue that contributes to the
danger of the debris, is that it is traveling in space at 17,500 miles per hour. At this rate, even a
small piece of debris could cause serious damage. Consequently, there have been many ideas put

on the added expense of outfitting their spacecraft with de orbiting technology. However, Space

is not ready to partake in Space travel. Also, various companies and countries will wish to choose
their own way to manage the decomposition of their spacecraft. I think this is negotiable, as long
as they do have a viable plan in place before travel. However, an International law that requires a

Claudius as Evil in Hamlet by William Shakespeare Essay
Claudius as Evil in Hamlet by William Shakespeare
The abstract concept of evil has vastly transformed throughout human history, ranging for the
supernatural and mystical to the very humans amongst whom we live. In modern times, evil has
become an entirely ambiguous term. Who is evil? What is evil? Men like Adolph Hitler and Saddam
Hussein have been garnered with the term evil for their atrocities against fellow humans. Now it
seems evil has a solely human significance; when a person violates the individual rights of others
on a massive scale, he/she is evil. In Shakespeare s time the Elizabethan era evil had a similar, but
somewhat altered connotation in the human mind. Evil was an entity that violated the English

Claudius lies are effective enough to persistently deceive to play s antagonist, Hamlet. Despite
Hamlet s disgust with Claudius for marrying Gertrude, and his view of Claudius as a king of shreds

The appearance of a spirit claiming to be Hamlet s dead father first alerts Hamlet to the actions of
that incestuous, that adulterate beast, /With witchcraft of his with, with traitorous gifts (I.v.42 3).
And yet still, Hamlet remains hesitant to believe that Claudius was the murderer, searching for
complementary evidence. The play that Hamlet enacts designed to catch the conscience of the king
(II.ii.562) succeeds in revealing Claudius guilt, but does not provoke instant action on Hamlet s
part. So effective is Claudius manipulation of the royal circle that he manages to almost
permanently stay the revelation of his guilt, and if it weren t for supernatural intervention against
an injustice, he may never have been exposed.
The most odious of Claudius crimes is his lack of emotion over his

Negative Ambition In Macbeth
Negative ambition fills the minds of many people across the world. However, we are going to
look at a specific example from the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare. The main character
from this play is Macbeth who is struggling with an ambition to become the king of Scotland. This
paper will demonstrate that Macbethis an accurate example of negative ambition. Ambition is the
desire for something and the determination to achieve that desire. Ambition can be classified in
two different ways. The first, positive ambition, can be summed up as the desire to get better as
a human. There are so many problems that can occur during a human s life on earth and through
positive ambition one can help themselves overcome their problems. For instance if you take the
situation of an individual with cancer. A majority of successful survivors of cancer have the
desire to get back to normal health. To accomplish this the patients must go through a lot of pain
and struggle but positive ambition can help them push through. The second classification of
ambition is negative ambition. Negative ambition can be summed up as having the desire for
something and the determination to achieve it but often at the personal loss of others. Many
examples include murdering for a gain of power, lying to improve your wealth, or stealing to
improve your lifestyle. These people all have the characteristics of ambition but are using their
ambition at the cost of others. They are using their ambition for gain while taking from others.
We find ambition at the heart of many scenes in the play Macbeth. In scene three we first learn of
Macbeth s desire to become king. Macbeth says this, If Chance will have me king, why, chance
may crown me Without my stir. (1,3, 143 144). In this quote, after Macbeth hears the witches
prophecy of him becoming king, Macbeth implies that he will gladly take the throne without
question. However, ambition consists of both desire and determination and Macbeth has not
shown any determination until Act two scene one when he says this I go, and it is done. The bell
invites me. Hear it not, Duncan, for it is a knell That summons thee to heaven or to hell. ( 2,1, 62

The Tale of Little Red Riding Hood is a short fiction story, which is a modern version of the
classic short story with a sexual intake. In this story we see how the town wolves are considered
sexual predators who need to be satisfied with sex, yet they kill the people they have sex with,
because the women usually do not want to accept their sexual desires. However, when Little

Double Helix Research Paper
Francis Crick asked, Well, what do you observe? It was then in late January 1953 that we made
the discovery. My heart was racing, I knew that this picture that Crick held up in his hand, now
known as photo 51, was the key that led to the discovery, the discovery that revolutionized science
and changed it into a state that it had never seen before. The photo, though still grainy, was the best
we saw and portrayed a diffraction pattern of DNAthat would forever revolutionize science. This
is the best proof that DNA exists in a double helix structure, though it only shows it qualitatively.
I responded. It had long been a mystery at how DNA, or deoxyribonucleic acid, was regarded,
and how it was able to perform actions, like translating, replicating, etc. on a large scale with
minimal error. This was just the spark that we needed to finally comprehend the structure of DNA.

Essay about Understanding Kissinger’s Actions Toward Chile
Understanding Kissinger s Actions Toward Chile
Can an individual influence foreign policy? Based upon the eight years that Henry Kissinger was
the Secretary of State it is clear that an individual can (Starr 466). It has become apparent through
recently released classified documents that Kissinger played a large role in allowing the brutal
Pinochet dictatorship over Chile to take place and allowed massive human rights violations to
continually occur during the Pinochet regime. What is continually being attempted to understand is
why Kissinger acted as he did towards Chile. The goal of stopping the spread of communism to
Latin America is obvious in Kissinger s actions, but why allow Pinochet to continue to receive

Kissinger s passion for stability, balance, and order is supposedly derived from his firsthand
experience with the tragedy of upheaval and the desire to prevent it from recurring (Starr 477 8).
This is apparent in his foreign policy actions that consistently show an attempt to create world order
(Blumenfeld 68).
When it became apparent that Chile might soon have a Socialist President the fear of a communist
domino effect caused Kissinger s feeling of order in the Western Hemisphere to be broken.
Therefore he supported Pinochet, who despite his terror driven domestic policy, created stability
systemically by eradicating communism (Starr 477).
Kissinger, more than most, would agree...that disorder is worse than injustice (Blumenfield 68 69).
In the realist mind of Henry Kissinger the domestic issues of a country are not necessary to
consider. Pinochet s human rights violations are pointless to care about in the anarchic, Darwinist
world in which Kissinger lives. A general theme in analyses of Kissinger is [his] early
experience[s] forged his basic philosophic belief that the world is a place where the forces of
chaos constantly battle the forces of order (Starr 477). Kissinger s protection of Pinochet, who
jailed thousands of citizens without just cause, was acceptable to Kissinger because Pinochet s
power helped to stabilizes political order in Latin America. Preventing human rights violations
would be a concern to many

Lord Of The Flies Character Analysis
In Lord of the Flies, a group of teenage boys is faced with the tremendous obstacle of being
stranded on an island after their plane had unfortunately crashed. To make matters worse, the
eldest of the group is only twelve years old. They are now faced with the task of establishing
roles for everyone to ensure that their time on the island went a smooth as possible, and that
they were rescued as soon as possible. By establishing roles amongst the group, not everyone
was able to be assigned their desired role, so naturally some of the boys were upset. This story
provided a fairly accurate depiction of how it could possibly be when establishing a civilization
in real life. Fairly shortly after the boy s plane crashed, everyone was assigned roles, and the
voted leader of them all was Ralph. Ralph was really wise beyond his years, especially in
comparison to many of the other boys on the island, and really had his priorities straight. Ralph s
main concern was survival and order amongst the group, along with that came food and most
importantly a signal fire big enough for passing boats to notice. One major quote from the book
showing Ralph s leadership came early on, They obeyed the summons of the conch, partly because
Ralph blew it, and he was big enough to be a link with the adult world of authority. (Golding 50)

contains sugar, which delivers the quick energy that the muscles need during physical activity,
but it also adds calories. A 16 ounce bottle of Gatorade contains 28 grams of sugar. These added
calories may be a drawback if they are not burned. In the long run, over consumption of Gatorade
many cause tooth decay, because of the sugar and acidity in some of the flavors. There are
simple solutions to this problem, parents can control their child s intake of the beverage as well
as mix it with equal amounts of water. However, there are more pros than cons to Gatorade.
Compared to it s competitors, such as Powerade, Gatorade contains a lesser amount of sugar and
does a better job at replenishing fluid loss. While working out, vital electrolytes are lost during

Prominent Malouf critic, Don Randall has commented on the concept of masculinity in the fictions

of nation has been. In fact this orientation of his could even appear compulsive if it were not for
his acceptance and prominence as literary and public figure. Rooney even states that Malouf s
preoccupation with nation has in some quarters drawn negative reactions ranging from indifference
to suspicion. Rooney goes on to quote David Tredinnick, who declared himself a lapsed Maloufian
, and whose review reminds us that over emphasis on nation may both attract and repel readers and
may sometimes become stale and outmoded. But Rooney also refers to Benedict Anderson, who
upholds the idea that prints media has been integral to the shaping of national imaginaries. In the
circle of Australian fiction, the compulsion to narrate nation has always been integral to the

Basques Social Structure
The Basques are people who inhabit a region spanning over parts of north central Spain and
southwestern France. Some people are still confused as to where they have originated from.
Basques are now mainly found in an area traditionally known as Euskal Herria, which is located
around the western end of the Pyrenees on the coast of the Bay of Biscay. The Basques language is
also called the Euskera. The Basque languageis an extremely complex language which has no close
relatives anywhere else in the world. I will be discussing the Basques infrastructure, social structure,
and superstructure how they maintained it all. The Basques infrastructure is not an industrial hub,
but they do maintain a unique regional identity. They can use an update with their infrastructure.

The Is The Most Bubbly And Happy Child
How does it feel to know that your little brother, who you adore in every way possible, has
something wrong with him? Something you cannot fix and neither can medicines or doctors. That
he has this disorder that has an unknown cause. But you do know that he ll be different from all
of the other children, that school will always be a difficult task for him, and maybe he ll be alone
because he won t have any friends. All of these thoughts and more came to my head when I heard
the news that my brother has Autism. Ayden is the most bubbly and happy child. Even though he
was young I could tell something was different about him. As he started going to daycare it was

It goes on to say that there are different degrees of this disorder; some children are nonverbal or
verbal, they have difficulties in social interactions, and behaviors that are repetitive. I observed my
brother, hoping and praying that this wasn t true, but in the back of my mind I knew everything
was about to change. By this point we were all sure, my parents and I, that he had Autism. As we
walk into the doctor s office, I feel my mom grip my hand tighter with every step. I gave her a
hug, trying to comfort her. While waiting for the doctor my anticipation grew, I was listening
intently for Ayden s name to be called. Ayden Ledet? said the doctor. We all stood up in unison.
The nervousness must have been beaming off of us, because she had to assure us everything
would be alright. Prior to this appointment Dr. Lacie went to Ayden s school to observe him in his
classroom among his peers. Once we sat down, she started asking a series of questions about
Ayden. I ended up tuning out the adults and started playing with Ayden on the floor. After what
seemed like forever, she informed us with a diagnosis.
Ayden has high functioning Autism. That means he is verbal, but does lack the social skills the
average four year old should possess... I was in shock! I could not wrap my head around the
thought of my little brother having something wrong with him, but I did know that I would love
him always.

Metamorphosis Kafka Analysis
The title of the story The Metamorphosis , by Franz Kafka is misleading. Merriam Webster defines
metamorphosis as the change of physical form, structure or substance, especially by supernatural
means, a striking alteration in appearance, character or circumstance . While there is an obvious
change in the appearance of the character Gregor Samsa, it becomes apparent after reading the
story, that his appearance is not the only thing that transforms. In the story, Gregor wakes up one
morning to realize that he has changed into a giant insect. Not only did he transform into a creature,
but he was also stripped of his humanity. The author Franz Kafkauses this symbolism to focus the
reader s attention on one character that mirrors himself and his life. Both Kafka and Gregor are
traveling salesman from Prague, experience dysfunctional personal relationships throughout their
life and suffer from psychological conditions including alienation and isolation. Franz Kafka s life, a
heartbreaking story of human conflict, parallels with the main character of metamorphosis, Gregor
Samsa.
Franz Kafka was born into a middle class German speaking Jewish family from Prague, Bohemia,
now the Czech Republic. Although Kafka obtained a degree in law, he spent his short adult life
working as a traveling insurance salesman. He considered this job as a bread job , a job performed
to only pay bills. At the time Kafka wrote Metamorphosis he had been employed for four years. In
parallel, Kafka s main character in the Metamorphosis possessed a job as a traveling salesman for
four years to pay off the family debt and support them. He is dissatisfied with his job, which is
noted when he says O God, he thought, what a demanding job I ve chosen, day in, day out on the
road... (Kafka p.612). I have to deal with the problems of traveling, the worries about train
connections, irregular bad food, temporary and constantly changing human relationships, which
never came from the hear, To hell with it all! (Kafka p.612). The metamorphosis of Gregor
liberates him from his dreaded job, as well as, releases him from his financial obligation to his
parents.
Kafka s writings are significantly influenced by his conflicted relationships with both his

Feeling Like A Role Model
Feeling like a role model was an amazing sensation. Working as a customer experience
representative was emotionally validating in itself. Yet when combined with an audience, the work
became doubly fulfilling. In some ways, it boosted her self esteem and drove her to become the best
version of herself. She noticed that when her daily life was made transparent, her words and actions
became happier, more altruistic, and more intellectually interesting. She had been told that this
would be a positive effect of going transparent, but she had not anticipated other changes. She had
not anticipated that being transparent would actually redirect some of her less than perfect habits.
The camera s influence caused her to think more carefully about the way she presented herself.
When she thoughtof her viewers seeing her choices, she felt pressured to make healthy choices.
Thus, she abstained from sugary foods, and consumed socially acceptable levels of alcohol.
When she thought of the camera catching her consuming aspirin, she was ashamed of the image
that this might project and rerouted her behavior. Thus, she entered a life where she abstained
from the parts of her life that she found imperfect. Being watched was a way to curb bad
behavior. Mae found this freeing, and she was revered as a role model for this projected
perfection. This in turn gave Mae the responsibility of bringing light to the lives of her viewers.
This was a duty that kept her going day to day.

My Infatuation Of The Rocky Horror Picture Show
At just the age of eight, my mother took my younger sister along with me to a midnight showing
of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, and it was love at first screening. There was so much
excitement and enthusiasm bursting with energy in the audience that it was mesmerizing. That
moment was re experienced repeatedly with the return to countless future showings. Moreover,
when I attained the age that I could attend without a chaperone, I would bring friends and
introduce them to the experience. Following in my mother s footsteps, I also acquainted my
daughter with the film when I felt it was time, as did my sister with her children. Consequently,
the tradition will continue for generations to come within our family. Rocky Horror Picture

that throughout the history of the world, plenty a focus has been on the topic of health. Over the
years, questions like these have been asked: How do we keep ourselves healthy? In which ways
should we keep ourselves healthy? Is healthcare a right, or a commodity? What is health ? Even

The first article I read was titled Education, Health, and the Default American Lifestyle, was
written by John Mirowsky and Catherine E. Ross. The main idea of this article was to articulate
that education has the ability to override the default American lifestyle, which has has three
elements to it: displacing human energy with mechanical energy, displacing household food
production with industrial food production, and displacing health maintenance with with medical
dependency. Overall, the paper says that in order to get out of an unhealthy lifestyle, you need to
recognize the risks, which require some form of higher education. According to this paper though,
health is being vigorous, vital, and fit . According to the Symbolic Interactionist, that isn t what
every culture would say health is. Some may say that being a little overweight is a sign of good
fortune. While the paper does make a good argument that education is the most important
influence on health, I do not think is it the overall single most important impact. One can be
educated, but can still be turned down for a job, therefore leaving them without insurance or
health care. Education isn t always the deciding factor in what you re going to get. Race, wealth,
and gender also play a very big role, arguably bigger

Cold Weather Driving: Make it Safer in the 2017 Honda Accord Sedan
If you live anywhere that the snow is starting to fall or the roads are getting icy, you know how
important it is to have a vehicle that is designed to make winter driving safer. The 2017 Honda
Accord is one such vehicle.
Safety First
Honda is known for its commitment to safety, so it should be no surprise to you that the Accord
Sedan scores a five star safety rating from the National Highway Transportation Safety
Administration (NHTSA) and was a 2016 Insurance Institute Highway Safety Top Safety Pick.
These accolades offer you confidence that the Honda Accord Sedan is built to protect you while

Of course, those two safety features are extremely important, but Honda goes even further and adds
other attributes like brake assist and electronic brake force distribution for help with a hard brake.
The addition of the Collision Mitigation Braking Systemв„ў,standard on all but two of the models,
makes sure that you stop by delivering brake pressure if sensors detect an obstacle in your path like
another car.
Other systems like the Lane Departure Warning let you know when you may be drifting off course
and into trouble.
When you re driving along, you may not feel a tire that is losing pressure from running over a
sharp item, so the Tire Pressure Monitoring System can detect and determine whether you re
losing air pressure in an individual tire. This allows you time to get off to a safe place where you
can replace the tire before you have a flat. Getting a flat tire at highway speeds can be very
dangerous no matter how many safety features your vehicle has on it.
Stability

equipped with a suspension that is built to keep you upright and moving

The Works Of 1906 Juan Gris And Georges Braque Essay
In 1906 Juan Gris moved to Paris where he developed his own cubist style. Upon his arrival he
managed to become friends with Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque. Within this artistic circle, Gris
started to take his artistic talents more seriously. Gris contribution to the Cubism Movement opened
upon the realms of possibilities for other artist. Though Picasso is considered the father of the
Cubist Movement, Gris managed to create his own unique flavor within Cubism. He believed that
the object in the painting did not have to be straight from reality; instead he would reinterpret
the object through his own lens. His work also uses a wider palette of colors than his peers. This
piece in particular shows just how he blended various colors. The background is a deep maroon
and the foreground contains lighter shades of blue and green, but since they blend together so
well the attention of the painting is spread throughout the piece. The newspaper within the lower
left corner of the painting displays Gris social awareness. Cubists were greatly impacted by
World War I, and during this time period Gris became very poor which altered the way he used
colors. You can tell he enjoyed his life during the creation of this piece because the colors are bright
and welcoming.
I believe that Gris engineering background contributed to his sense of identity within the Cubism
Movement. His use of symmetry within this piece is obscure but noticeable. He manages to use the
triangle to evenly divide

Mnemonic Vs Concept Map Study
Two strategies for helping learners process the material that would facilitate effective storage and

the material about African Kingdoms and Trading States is to create a diagram of Sunni Ali as a

technology, and cannons. The student can also create a map as shown in the map study, to
determine the trading states by using creating his own map and legend. After using the concept map

because Adam s journey is considered a high form of prophecy because an angel is involved

The International Relations Theory That Best
The international relations theory that best explains Operation Provide Comfort would be the
constructivist theory. However, Turkey s involvement in the operation may also be explained
through subaltern realism. The fact that the nations that comprised the coalition, save for Turkey,
conducting Operation Provide Comfort went through the official channel of the UN shows that the
intention was to act within the norms of the international community for conducting humanitarian
interventions. Had the US decided to act unilaterally, without permission from the other states
involved or the UN, it strongly indicate that the US self interests superseded those of the global
community. Furthermore, the coalition of western powers respected Turkey s sovereignty by
keeping the refugees at the border and providing aid in refugee camps there. Respecting a nations
sovereignty, or giving reasonable cause for violating it, is an essential portion of constructivism as
it indicates that states respect the artificially implemented restraints on themselves that they have
set up. Beyond the evidence that strongly suggests that OPC was conducted in the sphere of
constructivism, there is little evidence that would support any other international relations theory.
In a constructivists perspective, the mission devolved from an international system based operation
to a more realists military intervention when it became Operation Norther Watch (to compliment
Operation Southern Watch.) This idea is

in the Transfusion Unit at Evans Medical, each consists of a pressure gauge and a dial thermometer

There was evidence given by the autoclave operator and supervisor that occasionally the

They are attempting to offer low everyday prices which put them in line with bargain retailers
such as Kohl s, and Target, while at the same time attempting to become a more classy, higher end
store along the lines of Macy s, Nordstrom, and Bloomingdales. JC Penney views all these
companies as competitors as seen in their own proxy statement. JC Penney is not as large as some
of its competitors, many of which have more substantial resources and are constantly attacking their
market share. The company also faces threats from economic conditions, such as high
unemployment and the recent recession. When consumers are under financial pressures can easily
decide to shop elsewhere, such as Kohl s, Target, and even the dreaded Walmart. Even the
perception of better value can drive consumers elsewhere. Also, shopping mall popularity is
shrinking, with some retailers focusing on and consumers preferring stand alone locations similar
to Kohl s. Over the

The Origins and History of Yoga
The origins of yoga date back to India over 5,000 years ago. The Vedas, holy writings that are the
foundation for Hinduism, possess ancient yoga teachings known as Vedic Yoga. Individuals
became reliant on Vedic yoga to live their life in divine harmony.
The period of Pre classical Yoga coincides with the development of the Upanishads. The Upanishads
fortified the writings of the Vedas, therefore strengthening the practice of yoga. The history of yoga
has been widely associated with not only Hinduism but Buddhism as well. Siddharta Gautama,
the enlightened one, founder of Buddhism understood the benefits that yoga provided for
meditation. The goal of Buddhism is to find inner peace, which yoga assisted in. In other
regions, the ruins of the immense cities of Mohenjo Daro and Harappa, depictions have been
found engraved on soapstone seals that strongly resemble figures of yoga poses. Bhavagad Gita,
is the earliest known yoga scripture dated back to around 500 B.C. The Gita is dedicated entirely
to yoga, its main aim is that to be alive means to be active and in order to avoid difficulties in our
lives and in others, our actions have to benign and have to exceed our egos. Its connection to the
Upanishads is paralleled to the relationship between the Vedas and Upanishads, strengthening each
other s meaning. The classical period marks the establishment of the Yoga Sutra. Written by
Patanjali, around the second century, with the purpose to clarify and standardize

Physics Of A Food Manufacturer For The Following Reasons...
1 ABSTRACT
In this lab exercise, different approaches, Hydrometer, Pycnometer and refractometer, were used to
determine the total solids or concentration of two unknown samples. Standard curve of density vs
concentration and standard curve of specific gravity vs concentration were drawn with a series of
known concentrations of 10%, 20%, 30% sugar solution by weight. With the standard curve and the
specific gravity and refractive index of samples we obtained from the determination, we can
calculate the total solids of the samples:
2 INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVE
Total solids or concentration of a particular food is referred as the amount of solid concentrated
component present after removal of water (S. Suzanne Nielsen, 2010). This analytical value is of
great economic importance to a food manufacturer for the following reasons: economics
consideration (water is an inexpensive filler); solidcontent is often specified in compositional
standards and can be used as standard identification; computations of nutritional values of foods
require the determination of total solids (S. Suzanne Nielsen, 2010).
When different solutes are dissolved in a solution, the density change can be used to determine the
concentration of the solute. Since the direct measurement is difficult, the measurements use
specific gravity to determine the density of the liquid.
Specific gravity = (weight of x ml solution)/(weight of x ml of water)
Specific gravity is a relative value usually determined by the

Pop Queen Rihann An Overview
With the ascent of work by Barbadian pop queen Rihanna was able to collect 14th song to take
the number one spot on Billboard s Top 100 list, breaking her tie with Michael Jackson for the
third most number one singles (Thomas). Through countless successes as a solo female artist,
she holds 8.5 billion views on YouTube and had sold over 215 million digital tracks worldwide
(Roc Nation). Before releasing the album title Anti under the Westbury Road Entertainment
(Owned by Rihanna) and Roc Nation Record, the leading single Work was released on streaming
service provided by Tidal on January 27, 2016. According to Nielsen Music, Work had sold over
126,000 downloads and the eighth studio Anti album generated 4.7 million streams (Caulfield,
Gary). To a new listener, Rihanna s Work full of slangs with offbeat and repeats the lyrics
simultaneously (Billboard). Some criticized that she spoke gibberish but Rihanna s work vocal
quality is known to be a unique with a distinctive tone. It s a chilled song that makes you want to
be in tropical, soaked with touches of the Caribbean flow. One of the remarkable facts is that the
song Work is a dance hall/ reggae pop genre originating from Jamaica. (Billboard) The lyrics were
written by Jahron Braithwaite (PartyNextDoor) a Jamaican native, Rihanna and Drake. It was also
produced by a Jamaican Canadian named known as Matthew Samuels (Boi 1da), Allen Ritter and

Ethics of the Nuremberg Code Essay
From 1946 to 1947, the Nuremberg War Crime Trials took place, withfifteen of twenty three
German physicians and research scientist physicians found guilty of criminal human
experimentation projects. The trial court attempted to establish a set of principles of human
experimentation that could serve as a code of research ethics. The result was the Nuremberg Code,
which attempted to provide a natural law based set of universal ethical principles.Looking beyond
the Nuremberg Code and applying it to modern medical researchethics, there are many challenges
that it poses. Many have argued that the Code tries to provide for all unforeseen events, which
restricts the researcher by requiring him to anticipate every situation, demanding the... Show more

Hence, a proxy was given to those who did not have legal capacity allowing researchers to expand
their population for experimentation.
The term informed has also been criticized because sometimes even the researcher is not aware of
the risks associated with the experiment or they are too technical for the subject to understand.
Thus scientists have argued that only adequate information should be released to the patient and a
full understanding is not necessary. In this clause, responsibilities are placed on the individual who
is initiating, directing, or engaging the experiment but there is no place for the researcher to be
reviewed for his actions. The scientist is in full control of making any necessary ethical
deliberations. The Declaration of Helsinki added a clause stating experimental protocols should be
transmitted to a specially appointed independent committee for consideration and comments. The
third principle of the Code addresses the justification of the performance of the experiment based
on previous studies done on animals. This may be challenged because the researcher cannot always
guarantee success of the experiment even though it has been successful on animals or in previous
studies. Uncertainties in the experiment will always be present. The Declaration of Helsinki does not

The Jury System Essay
The right to trial by jury in the modern times originates from twelfth century England during the
reign of King Henry II. This system may originate from an ancient right for an accused to be tried
only by the lawful judgment of his equals or by the law of the land (Thomas). In the United States,
trial by juryis mentioned in Article Three of the Constitution and the Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh
Amendments. For many people, the jury system seems to be the fairest system and most unbiased
way of determining a person s innocence or guilt. The system is to make sure that all receive fair
trial despite their race, gender, national origin, religion, political affiliation, or color. Jury service is
distinct in being the only form of civic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The grand juries are not only done in private but the proceedings are not for public observation.
Petit juries are made up of six to twelve members, while grand juries from sixteen to twenty three.
Jurors are selected at random and must be an American citizen. To qualify, jurors must also be
over the age of eighteen, lived in the judicial district for a year, proficient English skills, and no
mental or physical conditions. The juror must have also not have any felony charges punishable
by imprisonment for more than a year or have been convicted of a felony. Active military
members, officers, firemen, and government officials are exempt from jury service. Being
summoned also does not guarantee that one will serve for the judge and attorneys will ask a
number of questions to determine if the individual is sustainable. In all types of cases, juries
must unanimously vote on a verdict except in civil cases where they can be non unanimous. A
law not told to jurors is the power of nullification. Knowledge of this law may prevent someone
from serving on a jury and the acknowledgement in certain circumstances may get a person
arrested. This power actually exist outside the law for it exist due to two other laws, where juries
cannot be punished for a wrong decision and a not guilty defendant cannot be tried for the same
crime. This is where the jury says guilty or not guilty , but they think differently. Though guilty
verdicts can be

Greece And Its Relationship With The Eurozone
Greece and its relationship with the Eurozone
Victor Kasik
International Economics
This paper will provide a brief history of Greece and reviews the modern day problems that may
force Greece out of the Eurozone. Indeed, history is being made on a daily basis as the prospect of
a Greek exit would steer both the nation and the Eurozone into uncharted territory. This is a
cautionary tale about economic and political unification, the advantages and disadvantages of
giving up sovereign rights to a common cause, and the impact of cultural differences in trying to
solve mutual problems.
Modern day Greece is a nation with 10.8 million people, and is the 15th largest economy in the 28
member European Union. As of 2013, the GDP of Greece was... Show more content on

With the collapse of the junta the nation returned to its democratic roots and Greece became a
Parliamentary Republic.
In the years following WWII, Greece began to identify itself more as a Western European nation
than as a Balkan state. The economic integration of the European states began in 1951 with the
creation of the European Coal and Steel Community between Germany and France. This agreement
helped to bury the hatchet between these two former enemies, and served as a blueprint going
forward in lowering trade barriers, implementing common tariffs on imports from outside nations
and increasing cooperation among European countries. These efforts resulted in the establishment
of the European Economic Community in 1957. As old hostilities faded, Europe began to see itself
more as a cohesive unit of interrelated economic and political systems and provided a united front
against the economic power of the United States on one side, and the threat of communism on the
other side.
For example, France and Germany, once bitter enemies, made the decision to link their currencies in
response to what they considered to be the opportunistic economic policies of the United States. By
doing this, it hastened the collapse of the Bretton Woods agreement and allowed European countries
to float their currencies. This also allowed countries to

Obesity Research Paper
High fructose corn syrup is known to be a tasty and all around unhealthy sweetener that we human
consume. The inexpensive and readily obtainable sweetener has caused an epidemic obesity that
plagued the world shortly after it has been introduced worldwide at supermarkets. Considering that
HFCS is heavily processed in many foods as a substitute for table sugar, it is permeated into almost
every food we eat. Eating too much food containing HFCS may be good for our taste bud, but it
does not mean it is good for our body. The predominant sweetener leads to obesity because it has a
copious amount of sugar, metabolizes differently than any other sugar, and are nowadays falsely

Fructose can only be metabolized by the liver because only the liver has a transporter for it.
Whereas glucose can be metabolized by every cell in the body. Also, fructose goes through a
metabolic change that keeps your body from burning fat. This means that all fructose gets stored
in your fat cells and are then turned into fat. Moreover, fructose causes people to gain more
calories because they do not feel as if they are full. As Jacqueline states, As an increase in insulin
and leptin are associated with satiety, some researchers theorized that perhaps ingesting fructose
instead of glucose leads people to consume more calories because they do not get the right signals
to feel full (Jacques, n.d.). Insulin is a hormone that regulates the amount of glucose in the blood.
Leptin is a hormone that will help regulate your appetite. A increase in insulin and leptin will
signal your body that you are full. Although, as you become resistant to the results of insulin and
leptin, you end up eating more. Nowadays many food are advertised to persuade the audience that
a certain brand or product is better in comparison to the others. HFCS for instance are usually
advertised as being healthy in comparison to regular sugar. This will grab many

Similarities And Differences Between The Whigs And The...
The period of the second party system begun in the 1820s and continued up to the 1850s when
slavery became the major subject in politics. The era gave birth to the two most popular political
parties in America at the time the Whigs and Jacksonian Democrats (Corbett et al., 2016). The
differences in ideologies between the Whigs and the Jacksonian Democrats helped in making the
US the foundation of democracy in the world. The Jacksonian Democrats had completely opposite
views than those of the Whigs and their political rivalry was based on views and agendas on the
issues facing the American people (Wolny, 2016). Both parties rose to prominence in the 1820s

Jacksonian Democrats emphasized that anyone had the ability to hold a government office or
position, hence, glorifying the individual mentality (Benson, 2016). On the contrary, the Whigs
were constituted by the nationalists and industrialists who shaped their policies in favor of
themselves. Furthermore, the Jacksonian Democrats advocated for the accelerated geographical
expansion to enable provision of more farming land while the Whigs believed territorial extension
was unnecessary, opting to focus on internal improvement through activities like building schools
and other infrastructures. Moreover, the Jacksonian Democrats did not support the central bank and
President Andrew Jackson made it his mission to oversee the downfall of the central bank by
campaigning against paper money in favor of gold and silver. On the other hand, the Whigs
supported the existence of a central bank completely (Wolny,

  • 3. Edward Abbey Analysis Thinking like a mountain by Aldo Leopold, Serpents of Paradise by Edward Abbey, but one of these essays focuses more on the hunting aspects of life. They both care about the environment. Abbey tries to find out how to avoid thought of killing an animal but to find any way to keep the wildlife calm and maintained. They describe both situations very well but one is more careful than the other. In both Leopold and Abbey essays they want to alter their environment but only Abbey succeeds because only Abbey has the correct knowledge when it comes to the environment. People care more about the environment when it comes to their job needing to be able to care about the environment. Like in the essay Thinking like a Mountain Aldo Leopold went hunting in the forest that was on a mountain called high rimrock. He has devoted himself to beings a wilderness preservation and wilderness worker. Aldo Leopold spends most of his time out in the wilderness hunting and supposed to preserve the wilderness. Edward Abbey writes about his experience as a ranger at Arches National Monument, Utah. He describes his surroundings as an April morning being bright, clear and calm. He said that about the afternoon is when it starts to get rough. The wind begins to blow, raising dust and sand in funnel shaped twisters that spin across that desert briefly, like dancers, and then collapse elements under stress (52). Both Edward Abbey and Aldo Leopold had jobs that involved them with the places they write about in the essays. It makes sense to have a job that is involved with the environment because if they didn t there would a very little chance that anyone would spend that much time at the desert or the mountains to see an old wolf or a rattle snake that close to them unless they are lucky when it comes to seeing animals that close. Leopold, based off the reading he has been hunting for a long time because he goes into detail on the best ways to hunt deer. He has beliefs that all wolves are detrimental to his hunting experiences, he says Less wolves equals hunter s paradise (50). Leopold is out in the mountains and saw an old wolf, and because he believes that if there are no wolves in the area then he will have a lot more deer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Humans’ Contribution to Climate Change Essay Climate change is one of the biggest concerns of all nations across the globe. Climate shift refers to changes in patterns of weather which can be indicated through global warming, natural disasters and rises in sea level. There is a group of people, climate change skeptics, who argue that climate change is not the result of human activity, meaning that it is naturally occurring. According to World Meteorological Organization, natural factors refer to internal factors, which are the interactions between the atmosphere and ocean, and external factors, such as solar energy variations and volcanic eruption (United Nation Evironment Programme World Meteorological Organization, 2006). Since the beginning of the industrial revolution in recent centuries, the Earth s temperature increases steadily due to the high concentration of carbon dioxide. The use of energies for transportation, manufacturing, and electricity generation involve in the burning of fossil fuel. These activities produce carbon dioxide to the atmosphere and warm up the Earth. As stated by World Meteorological Organization, The use of fossil fuel currently accounts for 80 to 85% of the carbon dioxide being added to the atmosphere (United Nation Evironment Programme World Meteorological Organization, 2006). In fact, the amount of man made carbon emission to the atmosphere continues to grow everyday although people acknowledge the danger of the extreme carbon emission. World Meteorological Organization said that the carbon emission rose significantly from just less than 1 billion tons in 1860 to more than 20 billion tons in 1990 (United Nation Evironment Programme World Meteorological Organization, 2006). As a result, the Earth s temperature continues to increase over time. • 6. Tim Peake Summary The Christian Science Monitor article, PUT THE TITLE HERE, PUT THE LINK HERE, discusses the dangers of space travel with astronaut Tim Peake. According to Peake, a window on the International Space Station (ISS) was damaged by a paint chip sized piece of metal. He contends that the ISS can withstand this type of small hit by debris. However, a strike by larger Space debris could be hazardous. In fact, the ISS had to do a planned maneuver to get out of the way of a larger piece of debris. For many years debris from inoperable satellites has accumulated in Earths orbit. The trash left from these satellites is posing an increasing threat to current missions. In the year 1998, The National Research Council (NRC) of the National Academy of Sciences equated the danger from space debris to that of a spacecraft s launch or reentry. And since that time, the amount of debris in space has more than doubled. Another issue that contributes to the danger of the debris, is that it is traveling in space at 17,500 miles per hour. At this rate, even a small piece of debris could cause serious damage. Consequently, there have been many ideas put forth about how to rid Space of all... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, various companies and countries will wish to choose their own way to manage the decomposition of their spacecraft. Claudius as Evil in Hamlet by William Shakespeare Essay Claudius as Evil in Hamlet by William Shakespeare The abstract concept of evil has vastly transformed throughout human history, ranging for the supernatural and mystical to the very humans amongst whom we live. In modern times, evil has become an entirely ambiguous term. Who is evil? What is evil? Men like Adolph Hitler and Saddam Hussein have been garnered with the term evil for their atrocities against fellow humans. Now it seems evil has a solely human significance; when a person violates the individual rights of others on a massive scale, he/she is evil. In Shakespeare s time the Elizabethan era evil had a similar, but somewhat altered connotation in the human mind. Evil was an entity that violated the English Christian ... Claudius propensity towards fabrications is in direct violation with the Holy Commandment Thou shalt not bear false witness; hence, he violates one of the pillars of Christian moral law. Claudius lies are effective enough to persistently deceive to play s antagonist, Hamlet. Despite Hamlet s disgust with Claudius for marrying Gertrude, and his view of Claudius as a king of shreds and patches (III.iv.104), Hamlet suspicion of Claudius as a murderer is preliminarily nonexistent. The appearance of a spirit claiming to be Hamlet s dead father first alerts Hamlet to the actions of that incestuous, that adulterate beast, /With witchcraft of his with, with traitorous gifts (I.v.42 3). And yet still, Hamlet remains hesitant to believe that Claudius was the murderer, searching for complementary evidence. The play that Hamlet enacts designed to catch the conscience of the king (II.ii.562) succeeds in revealing Claudius guilt, but does not provoke instant action on Hamlet s part. So effective is Claudius manipulation of the royal circle that he manages to almost permanently stay the revelation of his guilt, and if it weren t for supernatural intervention against an injustice, he may never have been exposed. • 8. Negative Ambition In Macbeth Negative ambition fills the minds of many people across the world. However, we are going to look at a specific example from the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare. The main character from this play is Macbeth who is struggling with an ambition to become the king of Scotland. This paper will demonstrate that Macbethis an accurate example of negative ambition. Ambition is the desire for something and the determination to achieve that desire. Ambition can be classified in two different ways. The first, positive ambition, can be summed up as the desire to get better as a human. There are so many problems that can occur during a human s life on earth and through positive ambition one can help themselves overcome their problems. For instance if you take the situation of an individual with cancer. A majority of successful survivors of cancer have the desire to get back to normal health. To accomplish this the patients must go through a lot of pain and struggle but positive ambition can help them push through. The second classification of ambition is negative ambition. Negative ambition can be summed up as having the desire for something and the determination to achieve it but often at the personal loss of others. Many examples include murdering for a gain of power, lying to improve your wealth, or stealing to improve your lifestyle. These people all have the characteristics of ambition but are using their ambition at the cost of others. They are using their ambition for gain while taking from others. We find ambition at the heart of many scenes in the play Macbeth. In scene three we first learn of Macbeth s desire to become king. Macbeth says this, If Chance will have me king, why, chance may crown me Without my stir. (1,3, 143 144). In this quote, after Macbeth hears the witches prophecy of him becoming king, Macbeth implies that he will gladly take the throne without question. However, ambition consists of both desire and determination and Macbeth has not shown any determination until Act two scene one when he says this I go, and it is done. The bell invites me. Hear it not, Duncan, for it is a knell That summons thee to heaven or to hell. ( 2,1, 62 64). In this section of Macbeth s soliloquy, Macbeth ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My heart was racing, I knew that this picture that Crick held up in his hand, now known as photo 51, was the key that led to the discovery, the discovery that revolutionized science and changed it into a state that it had never seen before. The photo, though still grainy, was the best we saw and portrayed a diffraction pattern of DNAthat would forever revolutionize science. This is the best proof that DNA exists in a double helix structure, though it only shows it qualitatively. I responded. It had long been a mystery at how DNA, or deoxyribonucleic acid, was regarded, and how it was able to perform actions, like translating, replicating, etc. on a large scale with minimal error. Based upon the eight years that Henry Kissinger was the Secretary of State it is clear that an individual can (Starr 466). It has become apparent through recently released classified documents that Kissinger played a large role in allowing the brutal Pinochet dictatorship over Chile to take place and allowed massive human rights violations to continually occur during the Pinochet regime. What is continually being attempted to understand is why Kissinger acted as he did towards Chile. The goal of stopping the spread of communism to Latin America is obvious in Kissinger s actions, but why allow Pinochet to continue to receive United States ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kissinger s passion for stability, balance, and order is supposedly derived from his firsthand experience with the tragedy of upheaval and the desire to prevent it from recurring (Starr 477 8). This is apparent in his foreign policy actions that consistently show an attempt to create world order (Blumenfeld 68). When it became apparent that Chile might soon have a Socialist President the fear of a communist domino effect caused Kissinger s feeling of order in the Western Hemisphere to be broken. Therefore he supported Pinochet, who despite his terror driven domestic policy, created stability systemically by eradicating communism (Starr 477). Kissinger, more than most, would agree...that disorder is worse than injustice (Blumenfield 68 69). In the realist mind of Henry Kissinger the domestic issues of a country are not necessary to consider. Pinochet s human rights violations are pointless to care about in the anarchic, Darwinist world in which Kissinger lives. A general theme in analyses of Kissinger is [his] early experience[s] forged his basic philosophic belief that the world is a place where the forces of chaos constantly battle the forces of order (Starr 477). • 16. Lord Of The Flies Character Analysis In Lord of the Flies, a group of teenage boys is faced with the tremendous obstacle of being stranded on an island after their plane had unfortunately crashed. To make matters worse, the eldest of the group is only twelve years old. They are now faced with the task of establishing roles for everyone to ensure that their time on the island went a smooth as possible, and that they were rescued as soon as possible. By establishing roles amongst the group, not everyone was able to be assigned their desired role, so naturally some of the boys were upset. This story provided a fairly accurate depiction of how it could possibly be when establishing a civilization in real life. Fairly shortly after the boy s plane crashed, everyone was assigned roles, and the voted leader of them all was Ralph. Ralph was really wise beyond his years, especially in comparison to many of the other boys on the island, and really had his priorities straight. Ralph s main concern was survival and order amongst the group, along with that came food and most importantly a signal fire big enough for passing boats to notice. One major quote from the book showing Ralph s leadership came early on, They obeyed the summons of the conch, partly because Ralph blew it, and he was big enough to be a link with the adult world of authority. It can be argued that the importance of Nelson Mandela in the ending of apartheid has been greatly exaggerated. Apartheid ended due to a combination of long term and short term events. The ANC represented the main opposition of apartheid while protests and rebellions caught the attention of the world, international sanctions put pressure on the south African government and something had to be done before their economy completely fell apart. De Klerk shocked the country when he took the first step towards abolishing apartheid although, the spark of light and face of rebellion, Mandela, provided the inspiration to make the end of apartheid possible.... On the 21st march, in Langa, Cape town. a mass march to langa police station was organised. The plan was to surrender themselves guilty of not carrying their passes, and as there were so many of them the police could not arrest them all. At this time an identical plan was created in sharpville and turned into what would be known as the sharpville massacre. Due to the event in sharpville the march was called off and a ban was placed on gatherings. However later that day protestors gathered again. The police ordered the protesters to disperse and baton charged them and the protestors retaliated with stones. Langa was very tense that night as angry protestors barricaded the streets and looted policemen s homes. The death toll by the end of the day in Langa was three, shot and killed by white policemen. The sharpville massacre and the langa shootings had a great impact on apartheid, the damage done was costly and the government had become ungovernable. Violence caused the protests to be a major factor in the end of apartheid because it was so costly. In the long run, over consumption of Gatorade many cause tooth decay, because of the sugar and acidity in some of the flavors. In his comprehensive book on Malouf, Randall evaluates the writer and situates him within the field of contemporary international and postcolonial writing. While doing this he does not lose sight of the author s affiliation with Australian contexts. In fact this orientation of his could even appear compulsive if it were not for his acceptance and prominence as literary and public figure. Rooney even states that Malouf s preoccupation with nation has in some quarters drawn negative reactions ranging from indifference to suspicion. Rooney goes on to quote David Tredinnick, who declared himself a lapsed Maloufian , and whose review reminds us that over emphasis on nation may both attract and repel readers and may sometimes become stale and outmoded. Merriam Webster defines metamorphosis as the change of physical form, structure or substance, especially by supernatural means, a striking alteration in appearance, character or circumstance . While there is an obvious change in the appearance of the character Gregor Samsa, it becomes apparent after reading the story, that his appearance is not the only thing that transforms. In the story, Gregor wakes up one morning to realize that he has changed into a giant insect. Not only did he transform into a creature, but he was also stripped of his humanity. The author Franz Kafkauses this symbolism to focus the reader s attention on one character that mirrors himself and his life. Both Kafka and Gregor are traveling salesman from Prague, experience dysfunctional personal relationships throughout their life and suffer from psychological conditions including alienation and isolation. Franz Kafka s life, a heartbreaking story of human conflict, parallels with the main character of metamorphosis, Gregor Samsa. Franz Kafka was born into a middle class German speaking Jewish family from Prague, Bohemia, now the Czech Republic. Although Kafka obtained a degree in law, he spent his short adult life working as a traveling insurance salesman. He considered this job as a bread job , a job performed to only pay bills. At the time Kafka wrote Metamorphosis he had been employed for four years. In parallel, Kafka s main character in the Metamorphosis possessed a job as a traveling salesman for four years to pay off the family debt and support them. He is dissatisfied with his job, which is noted when he says O God, he thought, what a demanding job I ve chosen, day in, day out on the road... (Kafka p.612). Gris contribution to the Cubism Movement opened upon the realms of possibilities for other artist. Though Picasso is considered the father of the Cubist Movement, Gris managed to create his own unique flavor within Cubism. His work also uses a wider palette of colors than his peers. This piece in particular shows just how he blended various colors. However, Turkey s involvement in the operation may also be explained through subaltern realism. The fact that the nations that comprised the coalition, save for Turkey, conducting Operation Provide Comfort went through the official channel of the UN shows that the intention was to act within the norms of the international community for conducting humanitarian interventions. Had the US decided to act unilaterally, without permission from the other states involved or the UN, it strongly indicate that the US self interests superseded those of the global community. Furthermore, the coalition of western powers respected Turkey s sovereignty by keeping the refugees at the border and providing aid in refugee camps there. Respecting a nations sovereignty, or giving reasonable cause for violating it, is an essential portion of constructivism as it indicates that states respect the artificially implemented restraints on themselves that they have set up. Beyond the evidence that strongly suggests that OPC was conducted in the sphere of constructivism, there is little evidence that would support any other international relations theory. When the displacement finishes, all the contents in the autoclave would reach and be held at the required temperature, giving the satisfactory sterilisation cycle. There are six autoclaves in the Transfusion Unit at Evans Medical, each consists of a pressure gauge and a dial thermometer at the top and a recording thermometer with an inserted recorder sensor in the condensate drain. There was evidence given by the autoclave operator and supervisor that occasionally the temperature recorders of autoclaves numbers 4, 5, and 6 either show a temperature below 240 or fail to indicate any rise above the baseline from about December 1970. When this happened, technicians were called to inspect the autoclaves. Normally, the recorder would work again and the sterilising cycle will be continued. On most of the occasions, the technician advised the supervisor that the temperature recorder was broken but the supervisor ignored his advice and continued using the autoclaves. In fact, the manager of the Transfusion Unit had requested for replacement of all six recorders but the request was not followed up. In consequence, in the event of the recorder not functioning, the staff continued the production if the dial thermometer and the pressure gauge were working properly and indicating correct temperature and pressure. • 42. The Origins and History of Yoga The origins of yoga date back to India over 5,000 years ago. The Vedas, holy writings that are the foundation for Hinduism, possess ancient yoga teachings known as Vedic Yoga. Individuals became reliant on Vedic yoga to live their life in divine harmony. The period of Pre classical Yoga coincides with the development of the Upanishads. The Upanishads fortified the writings of the Vedas, therefore strengthening the practice of yoga. The history of yoga has been widely associated with not only Hinduism but Buddhism as well. Siddharta Gautama, the enlightened one, founder of Buddhism understood the benefits that yoga provided for meditation. The goal of Buddhism is to find inner peace, which yoga assisted in. In other regions, the ruins of the immense cities of Mohenjo Daro and Harappa, depictions have been found engraved on soapstone seals that strongly resemble figures of yoga poses. Bhavagad Gita, is the earliest known yoga scripture dated back to around 500 B.C. The Gita is dedicated entirely to yoga, its main aim is that to be alive means to be active and in order to avoid difficulties in our lives and in others, our actions have to benign and have to exceed our egos. Its connection to the Upanishads is paralleled to the relationship between the Vedas and Upanishads, strengthening each other s meaning. • 44. Physics Of A Food Manufacturer For The Following Reasons... 1 ABSTRACT In this lab exercise, different approaches, Hydrometer, Pycnometer and refractometer, were used to determine the total solids or concentration of two unknown samples. Standard curve of density vs concentration and standard curve of specific gravity vs concentration were drawn with a series of known concentrations of 10%, 20%, 30% sugar solution by weight. With the standard curve and the specific gravity and refractive index of samples we obtained from the determination, we can calculate the total solids of the samples: 2 INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVE Total solids or concentration of a particular food is referred as the amount of solid concentrated component present after removal of water (S. Suzanne Nielsen, 2010). This analytical value is of great economic importance to a food manufacturer for the following reasons: economics consideration (water is an inexpensive filler); solidcontent is often specified in compositional standards and can be used as standard identification; computations of nutritional values of foods require the determination of total solids (S. Suzanne Nielsen, 2010). When different solutes are dissolved in a solution, the density change can be used to determine the concentration of the solute. Since the direct measurement is difficult, the measurements use specific gravity to determine the density of the liquid. Specific gravity = (weight of x ml solution)/(weight of x ml of water) Specific gravity is a relative value usually determined by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ethics of the Nuremberg Code Essay From 1946 to 1947, the Nuremberg War Crime Trials took place, withfifteen of twenty three German physicians and research scientist physicians found guilty of criminal human experimentation projects. The trial court attempted to establish a set of principles of human experimentation that could serve as a code of research ethics. The result was the Nuremberg Code, which attempted to provide a natural law based set of universal ethical principles.Looking beyond the Nuremberg Code and applying it to modern medical researchethics, there are many challenges that it poses. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hence, a proxy was given to those who did not have legal capacity allowing researchers to expand their population for experimentation. The term informed has also been criticized because sometimes even the researcher is not aware of the risks associated with the experiment or they are too technical for the subject to understand. Thus scientists have argued that only adequate information should be released to the patient and a full understanding is not necessary. In this clause, responsibilities are placed on the individual who is initiating, directing, or engaging the experiment but there is no place for the researcher to be reviewed for his actions. The scientist is in full control of making any necessary ethical deliberations. The Declaration of Helsinki added a clause stating experimental protocols should be transmitted to a specially appointed independent committee for consideration and comments. The third principle of the Code addresses the justification of the performance of the experiment based on previous studies done on animals. This may be challenged because the researcher cannot always guarantee success of the experiment even though it has been successful on animals or in previous studies. Uncertainties in the experiment will always be present. The Declaration of Helsinki does not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With the collapse of the junta the nation returned to its democratic roots and Greece became a Parliamentary Republic. In the years following WWII, Greece began to identify itself more as a Western European nation than as a Balkan state. The economic integration of the European states began in 1951 with the creation of the European Coal and Steel Community between Germany and France. This agreement helped to bury the hatchet between these two former enemies, and served as a blueprint going forward in lowering trade barriers, implementing common tariffs on imports from outside nations and increasing cooperation among European countries. These efforts resulted in the establishment of the European Economic Community in 1957. As old hostilities faded, Europe began to see itself more as a cohesive unit of interrelated economic and political systems and provided a united front against the economic power of the United States on one side, and the threat of communism on the other side. For example, France and Germany, once bitter enemies, made the decision to link their currencies in response to what they considered to be the opportunistic economic policies of the United States. By doing this, it hastened the collapse of the Bretton Woods agreement and allowed European countries to float their currencies. This also allowed countries to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
